But as soon as I get home, I'm cracking that thing open. and I'm frying something. That's very exciting. And also, Macy's right now, they are doing contact-free curbside pickup,

So check out the site and you can see all
Starting point is 00:02:21 of our favorites. Yep, Macy's.com slash chicks in the office. Head there right now as you're listening to this podcast or check it out later, whatever you wish. Obviously the last two podcasts that we did were a little bit different than our usual episodes. You know, it's still a really hard time in the world right now. You know, there's not that many exciting, fun things going on. It's actually a lot of sad things and things that needed to come to light and people, you know, it was a, I feel like it's been a big awakening for a lot of people in, in a good way so that, you know, we all become more educated and learn how to go forward. But, you know, it's, it's something where it's like, things can't go back to normal because what was normal wasn't good. So now it's just about going forward.
Starting point is 00:03:09 doing what we talked about, donating, signing petitions, voting, doing everything we've talked about. You know, we want to be a distraction for everybody and give you guys a lighthearted, you know, fun podcast like we usually would about celebrities doing whatever it is that they do. But right now, celebrities are focused on what's going on in the world. Yeah, and we are focused on it as well. There's obviously so much to consume, so much to learn, so much to read. It's really, it's hard to stay off social media or just, you know, kind of not see everything that's been going on. It's been a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:47 So I think that the way that we are going to continue to continue the show is to keep all that in mind. Obviously, celebrities are very involved right now. There's celebrities voicing their opinions. There's celebrities fighting about it. It's, it's really the only thing that's, that's, that's, happening with them is because they are just as focused on this movement as we are. And it's great to see because I think it is actually shown a lot of people getting involved who haven't got involved in the past. So that right there is great. And there's just, like I said,
Starting point is 00:04:30 there's just so much more to learn and listen to and just to keep. And just to keep. And just to keep moving forward. So all, you know, all I'll say is, I just hope everybody continues to read and watch and listen and learn. And on top of that, just like do your research on things. Like, if you see things on social media and you're like, wow, that seems interesting or, oh, I want to learn more about that. Do it. Read about it. Search, search these, you know, just go, like, just Google. Just Google these things and learn about it and educate yourself and you'll just be able to have these conversations and ask people and learn more. And I think like, you know, obviously there's a lot of stuff going around on social media.
Starting point is 00:05:18 A lot of people resharing the same stuff. But, you know, I've seen this a lot and I will say it because I think it probably has a lot to do with this show and Ria and myself. It's just, and, you know, Nick Viall had reposted it, but I'm just going to read it because it just says, I am privileged. I am imperfect. I have a lot to learn. I'm willing to learn and unlearn. I might make mistakes on the way. I will apologize and of course correct, but I will keep trying. And I think that just shows because like we, the two of us are not perfect. We are really trying to educate ourselves and learn more about what's going on and speak about it in the best way that we can and we're just going to continue to do that and try our best and hope everybody does that along with us.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Yeah, I agree with everything Fran said, but I also want to, you know, remind everyone that we will continue to do our normal pop culture show as time allows it. You know, like this episode is going, a lot of the topics are going to be based on what's happening in the world because we want to talk about celebrities because that's what you guys come here for. And like we said, this is what celebrities are doing. So that's what the episode will primarily be about. Now, once again, I don't want to say as things go back to normal, because that's not it. That's not what should be happening. It's more or less like, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:54 people keep saying like this isn't a trending topic, which is true. It's just something we need to remind ourselves every day in our daily life, go forward with it. But also continue to do our show in a way that's, fun for people to listen to and you guys can come to us, you know, as a distraction. But, you know, from time and time again, we're going to remind you of these things because we don't want to just be the people who talks about it and then forgets about it. So anything else, Fran, that you would like to add? No, I think that's, I think that's about it. Oh, I wanted to say that I reached on
Starting point is 00:07:31 Instagram, I finally reached the end of my Instagram. Like I got to a point where my Instagram said, you are all caught up on everything from the last three days, every new post. I have never seen that before in my life. I have a screenshot. I'll show you right now. I have a screenshot of it. Damn, that is a lot of phone time. Yeah. You're all caught up. You've seen all new posts from the past two days. Wow. Yes. So as much as it is quite an accomplishment. So as much as it is, good to go on social media and get the information that you need so that you can you know you read something like franz said go google it research it after don't just this is a reminder to myself as well don't just sit on social media um it's not the only place where you can help and do things as
Starting point is 00:08:24 much as it does help as well once you reach the point where you've seen all posts that you can yeah take it somewhere else yeah this is a reminder to me it is as a It's tough because we've seen a lot of people also obviously acknowledge their privilege that this is something that we can learn about and see on social media, but then put our phone down and continue on with doing other things. And right there is just a privilege in itself that we are able to do that because we are not black so that we're not living with it. So it's crazy because there has been this just.
Starting point is 00:09:04 absolute desire to constantly see what's going on. I mean, social media has been, has been non-stop because people have been resharing and telling their stories and posting and learning, which is great because there's so many great resources out there now and people are sharing so many great things, you know, black-owned businesses and places to go and shop and all these amazing things. And on top of that, just, you know, showing support, signing petitions, writing emails to your to your local government and and all of those amazing things. But it's, yeah, it's a lot. So to consume a lot of that and then sometimes you just got to take a step back.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Once you reach the point where you get the notification that you've seen every post that you can for the last two days. That's a lot. I think you're allowed to put down your phone for just a little bit. Yes. But, you know, that doesn't mean stop educating yourself there. It just means find another place besides Instagram. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:07 There are, yes, there are plenty of other outlets and things to do. So, yeah, I think that's what I wanted to say. Right. I'm good. All right. So let's get into the topics for today's episode. We have Leah Michelle, who, you know, it's hard to focus on one thing that she's doing wrong at the moment because there is a whole list of people who have a problem with Leah Michelle.
Starting point is 00:10:30 So we're going to get right into that. We have Garrett from the Bachelorette versus Becca Martinez from The Bachelor because of some posts that Garrett has made on social media. We have Vanessa Morgan from Riverdale talking about her experience as a black woman on the show. We also watch 13th on Netflix, so we'll talk about that. And just, you know, I know that this doesn't go along with the episode, but we're going to talk about the challenge. We know people want to hear about the challenge, so we're going to take.
Starting point is 00:11:00 talk about it. So let's get into it, starting off with Leah Michelle. Leah Michelle is facing a ton of backlash this week from multiple different people after she tweeted about the death of George Floyd, her glee co-star Samantha Ware, retweeted and started this movement against Leah Michelle at this point in time. Yeah, I feel like with Leah Michelle, we were just waiting for the shoe to drop, the other shoe to drop, right? Like, we're just waiting for somebody to say something. And then it just became a snowball effect. Everyone was like, oh, we're telling our Leah Michelle stories. I've got one. And it just, it just has gone on for basically the last week at this point. So Samantha had retweeted and she said, remember when you
Starting point is 00:12:19 made my first television gig on a living hell? Because I'll never forget it. I believe you told everyone that you, if you had the opportunity, you would shit in my wig amongst other traumatic microaggressions that made me question a career in Hollywood. So that was the first thing that was said, obviously, a lot, a lot of other things have been said. And then it was just everybody else really, obviously jumping on and saying their experiences with Lee and Michelle. I do not know if I'm saying this guy's name correctly. I'm probably not. Dabier or Dabier, he was also on Glee as well, and he had retweeted, say, girl, you wouldn't let me sit at the table with the other cast members
Starting point is 00:13:00 because I didn't belong there. Fuck you, Leah. And it really just continued on. Amber Riley, while this was going on, had just tweeted a giff of her sipping tea, like it was of herself. So everyone was like, ooh, what's going on there? She later talked about, obviously more of it.
Starting point is 00:13:22 But then it went on. on, it got worse because Leah had put out an apology on her Instagram. And people, like, that also didn't really sit well with people because, like, she didn't really apologize for anything. She just, I'll read what she said. She said, one of the most important lessons of the last few weeks is that we need to take the time to listen and learn about other people's perspectives in any role we have played, or anything we can do to help address the injustices that they face.
Starting point is 00:13:58 When I tweeted the other day, it was meant to be a show of support for our friends and neighbors and communities of color during this really difficult time. But the responses I received to what I posted have made me also focused specifically on how my own behavior towards fellow cast members was perceived by them. While I don't remember ever making this specific statement,
Starting point is 00:14:16 and I have never judged others by their background or color of their skin, that's not really the point. What matters is that I clearly acted in ways which hurt other people. Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times, or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused. We can all grow and change, and I have definitely used these past several months to reflect on my shortcomings.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I have a couple months from becoming a mother, and I know I need to keep working to better myself and take responsibility for my action so that I can be a real role model for my child, and so I can pass along my lessons and mistakes so that they, can learn from me. I listened to these criticisms and I am learning and while I am very sorry, I will be better in the future from this experience. So she put out that apology. You know, HelloFresh said they were no longer going to work with her. And then more Glee co-stars came out, other people that have worked with her on different shows. It just seemed pretty all over. Yeah. This is something Amber Riley said. She said, I'm not going to say that.
Starting point is 00:15:24 that Leah and Michelle is racist. That's not what I'm saying. That was the assumption because of what's going on right now in the world and it happened towards a black person. I'm not going to say that she's racist. She's also pregnant. I think that everyone needs to chill.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Y'all dragged her for a couple of days. But at the same time, in my inbox, there are a lot of black actors and actresses telling me their stories and letting me know they have dealt with the same things on set, being terrorized by the white girls that are leads of their show. Yeah, so Leah Michelle,
Starting point is 00:15:52 I think Leahy Michelle, is just a bad person. I think we just got to call it what it is. At this point, I think she's a bad person. Just an asshole to everyone. In every way, I think that all around, Leah Michelle just hasn't been, yes.
Starting point is 00:16:08 She just hasn't been an aware human being. Like, she's just been being me in her entire life and acting like a diva and not to throw our own experiences in there, but I'll say it one time for the people who do recall on this show, that Leah Michelle once canceled an interview with us right in front of our face while we were, standing in front of her. Right, right. And it was done in a very rude manner. And when it occurred, we were told by, you know, other people at Sirius that it was not the first time something
Starting point is 00:16:39 like this has happened. Right. We showed up to Sirius, to interview here, Michelle. She's standing right there and then contacts our talent booker. Right. To say that she wants that she doesn't content And she was just... Her people contact. That she's just cancelling the interview. She's standing right there. Leah, just tell us you don't want us to interview. And it wasn't even us.
Starting point is 00:17:02 It was like multiple shows that she was just like I, that, you know, whatever. And everybody has bad days. That is for sure. You know what? I'm happy she wasn't on our show then. After I'm seeing everything, how mean she's been to people. For sure. Everybody has their bad days.
Starting point is 00:17:16 But clearly from what it seems like with this many people who have had bad experiences with her. and you hope that, you know, maybe you've just been blind to being that much of an asshole. Nobody's said straight to your face all these years how much of an asshole you are. And maybe this is what it'll take for her to be like, damn, I was an asshole. Maybe I shouldn't be such an asshole as a record amount of assholes that I just. Isn't that kind of crazy, though? Like, I'll just add on to your asshole train, like how you can be an asshole to so many people and never realize it. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Like, think about the amount of. people. We have, we've said it could be in, yes, we've said selfish. Two people so far that have gone after Leah Michelle, there's a whole list. We haven't even touched on everybody who's gone after Leah Michelle. If you go to her comments, everybody's got a story about her. So, I mean, I hope that this is just a really huge wake-up call for Leah Michelle, because my God, she has not seem great. So, like Heather Morris, obviously another one from Glee said, let me be very very clear, hate is a disease in America that we are trying to cure, so I never wish for hate to be spread to anyone else. With that said, was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so. For Leah to treat
Starting point is 00:18:31 others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she should be called out. And yes, it's also on us because to allow it to go on for so long without speaking out as something else we're learning along with the rest of society. But at the current moment, it's implied that she is a racist. And although I cannot comment on her beliefs, I think we're assuming, and you know what happened when we all assume. Yeah, that was, you know, that was something my fifth grade teacher wrote on our chalkboard, and it's one of the only things that I really remember from fifth grade. When you assume it makes an ass out of you and me.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Yeah. And we were all like, because we were in fifth grade. And it was Catholic school, and she wrote ass and said ass out loud. And like she wrote in huge letters and then put the line after ass. And then the line after you and was like, you make an ass out of you. And we were all like, oh, God. That's really, so, but Heather Morris is right, because it's such a weird, it's like such a weird time for all this to be happening against Leah Michelle, but I also should, like, clearly people have bad feelings towards her to bring this up while this is all going on. Um, there's also people, you know, from Broadway who worked with her, um, this, Gerard, God, I'm probably butchering all these poor people's names. Gerard Cananico? Cananico? What do you think? Canonicot? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:58 He was, yeah. He worked as an understudy for Spring Awakening, and he had originally commented on her Instagram, and I guess he thinks that had been deleted. So he wrote again. Seems to have been deleted, so I'll try again. You were nothing but a nightmare to me in fellow understudy cast members. He made us feel like we didn't belong there. I tried for. for years to be nice to you to no avail. Maybe actually apologize instead of placing the blame on how others perceive you. You'll probably just delete this, though. And obviously, you know, and then people were liking things, replying back to things.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Yvette Nicole Brown, who was on the mayor with, Lee Michelle responded to Samantha Ware's tweet writing, I felt every one of those capital letters, every person on a set matters, Every person on a set deserves respect. And it is this responsibility of every series regular to make every person who visits their home feel welcome. This dismissive attitude is what's wrong in Hollywood and the world. And then, like, other people were just liking stuff, which obviously does, you know, not putting out statements,
Starting point is 00:21:03 but supporting other people who are speaking out. You know, Alex Newell, who was on Glee as well, have responded to many Twitter users who were commenting. We ain't got no, not a damn thing to lie about six years later. He wrote to one follower because he was posing a bunch of gifts and stuff reacting to Samantha's tweet. And he also tweeted, I'm going to say this one time. When my friends go, when my friends goes through something dramatic, I also go through it. And that's where friendship is.
Starting point is 00:21:34 And if you can't understand that, then you're part of the problem. And that's on, period. And I mean that for both sides of the coin. And Abigail Breslin slid in there too, liking some tweets. Shout out to Abigail Breslin. Honestly, haven't heard that name in years. Yes, yes. I mean, Abigail Breslin was on Screen Queens with Leah,
Starting point is 00:21:51 and she liked a tweet that it said, not everyone agreeing that something felt off about Lee and Michelle. Where have you all been? I've been saying this for years. I thought it was alone. So she liked that tweet. An ex-Glee producer, Marty Knoxin, she tweeted out, like, yes,
Starting point is 00:22:09 maybe there were some problems, but like no one talks about the male actors on Glee, there was also some really bad male actors, which I feel like people have definitely discussed to some extent, but I guess not as intense as this. Who would have thought Glee was so problematic? I've never watched Glee or like, became fans, I guess, of anyone on the show that much because they didn't watch. Yeah. But I didn't know. that there was this much drama behind the scenes. That's definitely for sure.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I mean, Jordan Pruitt came out and said something that, you know, people, that is just like a known thing in the industry, these rumors about her. And then the transgender actress and singer, Plastic Martyr, also talked about an experience that she had with Leah at the Emmy Awards, which, you know, and she had said, you know, like, look, I'm not here for cancel culture or anything.
Starting point is 00:23:09 thing like that. But she had said she's a very unpleasant person. Years ago, we were at the Emmys and she happened to be there. I was still in the process of my transition and I wasn't 100% as passable then. I was in the bathroom and starting washing my hands and said, excuse me to her when trying to reach the soap. And she goes, excuse me, excuse me, excuse you. You realize you're in the women's bathroom. I remember going from feelings so beautiful that day to walking out of the bathroom feeling so self-conscious and embarrassed. And she had written, she also wrote, like, this was my experience with her. It isn't to start hate or cancel someone's career.
Starting point is 00:23:46 It is to hopefully open people's eyes up to their horrible transphobia that exists, but no one really talks about. The press doesn't cover transgender stories or trans people, our experiences often go ignored. Trans people aren't the enemy, and we aren't the punchline tiered jokes. Since the rest of the world tries to silence us, it's our job to use our voices and shake our, and share our stories and experiences. Hopefully one day soon people will start to understand and respect trans people instead of villainizing or mocking us.
Starting point is 00:24:12 And obviously, every time, like, a spokesperson or a source or said, like, Leah's response to this was a source close to Leah said that she has absolutely no recollection of that ever happening and was greatly upset to hear of this and she would never have intentionally singlet her out. she has been a huge fan of the LGBT community, starting from when she was on Broadway at age eight. So I feel like the stories we hear about Leah Michelle are just like we're watching mean girls,
Starting point is 00:24:44 and you watch that movie and you think, oh, nobody can really act like Regina George. That's just a character. But Leah Michelle is just a real life Regina George. Like there actually are really mean people out there, like her out there, and you just don't realize it. It's like, oh shit, we and Michelle has a lot, a lot of apologizing to do going forward. She's got a lot of people to make up to you.
Starting point is 00:25:08 She probably doesn't even know how many people she has to make it up to at this point. Right. At this point, she's completely gone off the rails. Yeah. At this point, and it's, and it sucks because obviously she, like Amberhead pointed out as well, you know, she is, and she said in her apology, you know, She is, she's pregnant right now, and this is, I'm sure, very stressful, but it's just like the perfect storm coming together of bad timing of like you've treated people like this for so many years. And now all of this is coming up at this time. You know, she apparently a source told the New York Post.
Starting point is 00:26:00 a friend of Leah that she's had a real wake-up call. It's never easy to hear people speak about you this way. It's a total shock. Leah was a bitch to a lot of people who are now taking the opportunity to come forward and one industry source who has worked with her. She may not be the nicest person, but she's not racist, sexist, or transphobic. I would say she has behavioral issues that she's dealing with. She is listening. She hears what everyone says and wants to apologize. This is her past and she wants to handle things responsibly. Well, we'll see. We will, we'll see. see about that. Right. We can't just listen to her source being like, she's sorry. We just got to see from Leah Michelle. Right. At this point, you just got to own how much of an asshole you were
Starting point is 00:26:42 and I don't know. People will respect you more if you straight up say, oh my God, I was so horrible. I was a complete asshole. Oh my gosh. I was such a mean girl rather than being like, I don't remember any of that. Right. Right. And I'm sorry you perceived me that. Because chances are if there's 20 plus people talking about how mean you were, you're probably most definitely a mean person. Yes. One person, right. And this is how she treated people that she was working with, like fellow actors and actresses. So imagine just.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Passing Lee on the street. You pass Liam Michelle on the street and she just pushes you over. Strangers or people that worked on the set, all of those kinds of. kinds of things, it just seems like it was a terror situation. Be better, Leah Michelle. Yeah, that's tough. Becca Martinez, another member of the Bachelor Nation franchise. That's not it. It's just the Bachelor franchise. I'm now mixing Bachelor Nation and the Bachelor franchise together. But just, you know, somebody from the Bachelor franchise who we've seen be very, very vocal in times where people need to speak.
Starting point is 00:31:23 speak up. I actually give Becca a lot of credit because she she takes no shit. She speaks up for what she believes in and I love it. And in this instance, she did it again with Garrett. So, Garrett posted a Instagram in support of the thin blue line, which is a phrase used in association with Blue Lives Matter. And, you know, he wrote a very lengthy Instagram post about his support for the police, you know, I'll just read some of it. He said, it's important for me to recognize the ones who stand in the gap and put their lives on the line each and every single day for humans of different race and ethnicity, and ethnicity, including those who hate them. The thin blue line represents each officer protecting protesters, properties, and businesses
Starting point is 00:32:08 while being threatened to attack shot at, shot, shot at hit with vehicles and other forms of brutality. He then said, we can't judge an entire group of people by the actions of a few. We can't judge the peaceful protesters by the actions of the few violent protesters, and we sure can judge all cops by the actions of a few bad ones. Remember, when they put on the badge, they're still humans with raw emotion. The more brutality they face, the more on edge they become. They make mistakes. They have compassion, and no matter how terrible they are treated or whatever negative is said to them, they still show up for us when we need them. Um, so obviously right away, you see that and it's like, you know that that's going to be controversial. You know that people are
Starting point is 00:32:50 going to be upset. People commenting in support, people commenting very upset. Becca Martinez commented saying, law enforcement chooses to put on a blue uniform. Black people don't choose to be black. Big difference. Also, quote, the more brutality they face, they face the more on edge they become. That's scary as fuck. Wow, wow, wow. So interesting that you stay silent about black lives, but you just have to speak out about cops. You made your views known before, and here's a great reminder that not much has changed. And then it's, it got a little, it got a little petty from Garrett's side. Like, if you, if you're going to post that, you're going to have to, I feel like, accept
Starting point is 00:33:38 the criticism. You're posting that in the middle of a massive movement, Black Lives Matter movement. And he, he screenshot it and put on a story and wrote, I remember you saying, how much you loved me to Becca and you made a mistake for judging me in the past without knowing me. Needless to say, you never got to know me, still don't know me, and you're no longer invited over. Peace. Okay, Garrett. I mean, that response to me is just ridiculous because Becca doesn't have to get to know you as a person to, that doesn't take away from what you posted. I'm sure if Becca still got to know Garrett as a person and then saw that post, she would say exactly
Starting point is 00:34:20 what she felt. Right. You know, not, not getting to know Garrett doesn't mean anything in this sense. Right. He's, he's letting everyone know who he is by posting that. Garrett also said, I was advised to not post my caption with my Black Square as I had written a message about peace, racism, and change because I believe Black Lives Matter is important. I still got ridiculed. I'm also showing my love and support for others at this time as well and still get ridiculed. Doesn't make me a racist, nor does it take away from Black Lives Matter. Try having conversations with people before judging and labeling. Love to all.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Personally, like my opinion on that is just like saying my post, like, doesn't take away anything from Black Lives Matter. That's exactly what it does. Oh, 100%. Like that's exactly what you're doing. You're shifting the focus on something that's not Black Lives Matter. So I feel like that's kind of a ridiculous thing to say. Right. When the blackout Tuesday happened, you know, it's still, I don't, I don't want to get into the facts of if you were supposed to post a black square or if you were not supposed to post a black square because I think everyone was confused on what it meant. It was, you know, silence everything else. Like silence your selfies, silence your TikToks, your other content, but still shed light on what matters. So, you know, when we, when people are making that, the point of blackout Tuesday and then you go out of your way to then post a black square with a
Starting point is 00:35:55 blue line in it you are now going on your way right which is yeah i don't know i he's trying to he's trying to play both yes because he doesn't want to offend somebody or make somebody upset but at the end of the day that he has a lot of friends and family that are cops and and i'm sure i'm sure he is very torn but it's just like when you step up out of the time. Right. When you, when you now go out of your way to post the, the black square with the blue line, you are stepping out of the movement. Right. If that, if that means sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it does. I think it does. And, and, you know, Becca had posted, he, he posted another screenshot of his DM back with Becca. Like, Becca had responded and said,
Starting point is 00:36:39 El Mayo, definitely not my words. I said, tell Garrett, I'm sorry, I gave him so much shit. And at the time, I meant it because I thought you actually cared about changing. Then Garrett wrote, what is wrong with supporting black lives and cops at the same time. I have grown and become more educated in the past two years. If you say by me posting that and supporting everyone isn't changed, then what about you jumping to conclusions and running your thumbs on my page again has changed? It's just I don't think that Garrett, he's saying that he is reading and educating himself, but if he is reading and educating, if he is reading and learning and learning and learning
Starting point is 00:37:17 and learning about Black Lives Matter and really where that came from and what it stands for, you wouldn't say like, why can't I support both? Like, because that's not really
Starting point is 00:37:32 where Black Lives Matter started in the first place was to, you know, showcase what is going on with the black community and police. So it's, it's, It's tough. And obviously now it puts Becca his fiance in the mix of all this as well because she has she has her own opinions.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Becca on her Instagram story said that she's having many conversations behind the scenes and wrote because I'm silent on my IG right now. It doesn't mean I'm silent in my life. And she said that they would be talking about it on the next episode of Bachelor Happy Hour with Rachel Litt. and see what and see what and that I'm there I would I'm very like very intrigued to listen to how that goes yeah I feel like Becca is in um you know a tough position right now as is probably many other people who live with somebody that they don't agree right on everything that's that's happening and you are your own person you have your own values you have your own opinions and you're not always going to agree with other people um but when that's
Starting point is 00:38:45 person is somebody you're engaged to. Right. And you're going to marry that person. Yeah, that's probably, probably best to figure it out. If you don't fall on the side for this situation. It's, especially when so many people are going to come after him and then they're going to include you in what they think about him, but you have your own values. It's, right.
Starting point is 00:39:10 I don't know how to feel for, for Becca in this. very moment. To be completely honest. And I'm sure she has many friends in the franchise that feel the same way as Becca Martinez does. And they're like, well, now how do we hang out with you? But we don't agree with Garrett. But now are we going to fight with him? What's going to happen from here? Yeah. And it sucks because obviously we've had this conversation too where, you know, you don't want to put that pressure on black people now to have the job to educate all other people. So it's like Rachel Lindsay, who is so great, like now it's, it's, it also puts her in a very difficult position because now she has to talk about this on her own podcast because this is her co-hosts fiance.
Starting point is 00:40:10 So all around pretty pretty crazy. And I will say, and it's tough because, but The Bachelor, it's so hard. And you see, you know, Hannah Brown has been posting a lot, and she's been posting a lot of resources, and it seems like she is trying to educate herself. So, but then there's people like, unfortunately I saw like Grocery Store Joe, who I guess people have freaked out
Starting point is 00:40:37 because he had liked Garrett's Post or something like that. And he had just said, I got this, I know I have a plowbrose, but I got this platform from a reality show about dating. Like I'm not an expert on any of those, those things. You shouldn't be coming to me for those reasons. I'm going to continue to post about food.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Like, you know, and I get torn on that because that's fair. He's being honest. Like he doesn't really, he doesn't really know enough to be posting about it. But I just think like you've been given that platform, yes, from a dating show, from a reality TV show. And it's just kind of crazy me to have that platform and not like want to learn.
Starting point is 00:41:28 Right. I think exactly. I think that's something I took out of the conversation with Nina Parker as well as like, you know, when we were trying to figure out how we wanted to, you know, talk about these things. It's like, oh, okay, you know, we're a pop culture show. People don't really come to us about these. issues, but we have a platform where many people are listening. We want to help spread the word. We want to educate ourselves. We want to educate other people. Why not use our platform and followers? You know what I mean? It's hard to, it's very, I think it's, it goes along with what everyone's saying is like, ask yourself, why are you staying silent? It's because you're, you don't think you're educated enough, then if you don't think you're educated enough, then why don't you educate yourself? And then maybe even post that, say, hey, I'm, I'm going to
Starting point is 00:42:24 start learning because clearly, I don't know enough about this to post about it, but I want to, I want to help. Start some, like, and that is, I feel like definitely a lot of what Nia said. Start, start somewhere and build, you know, build on it, learn from it. I think, even like if he just acknowledged well he you know he did acknowledge oh hey i'm not i you know i was given this platform from from a dating reality show i'm not supposed to talk about these things but then go on to say but i will educate myself i will do that you know what i mean like it just it didn't feel like that necessarily that he felt passionate about doing that right and also i think this says something when when joe
Starting point is 00:43:13 posted his blackout Tuesday square. Kendall commented, happy to see this with a like heart emoji, which makes me think that Kendall was slightly surprised to see him do that, which probably isn't a good thing, you know? Right. Which, which, and it's, and I won't say that it's a bad thing because obviously if he felt that, like, you want to show where you stand. That's why people are posting it. You want to show where you stand on the issue. Yeah. But that makes me think, like, were you just throwing that up there because everybody else was?
Starting point is 00:43:56 Yeah, I think there's many ways to think about it. You know, try to see the good in people. And this is just, you know, who knows if this was the conversation. but we don't know what kind of conversations these people have. But maybe Joe had a conversation with Kendall where he was like, I want to help, but I don't know where to start. And she was like, well, yeah, posts where you stand. And then he posted where he stood.
Starting point is 00:44:22 And then Kendall was like, I'm happy to see this. So we don't know what kind of conversations they're having behind closed doors. And I don't think that every person from Bachelor Nation is going to be the voice that you need to hear. No, absolutely. Absolutely not. But I do think when you have a following, like we said, you know, even if one person listens to what you said, it's a good thing. So, you know, that, something we need to remember, you know, besides a few, I think that
Starting point is 00:44:55 Rachel Lindsay is somebody who has always been somebody to look up to and listen to what she's saying because she's always spoke the truth and has never been held back. Oh, wait, since the beginning of her being on the show. Exactly. It's like these people, you know, we just got to remember. They're not our role models. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is true. And, you know, Dylan had tweeted something this weekend that I think also shows a lot about,
Starting point is 00:45:23 you know, The Bachelor and everything that goes on with The Bachelor. He just said, losing followers on Twitter and Instagram because I'm speaking rational thoughts, it's showing me so much about the platform that was provided to me. and I've seen what Dylan posted. Dylan hasn't posted anything that's been, you know, that intense. Like he hasn't been over, like posing a ton of stuff. Like he said, posting rational thoughts. And in his mind, they're rational.
Starting point is 00:45:52 But clearly, you know, that's not the case for people who are unfollowing and whatnot. But yeah. Yeah. It's a slight dig at the Bachelor core fan base. Yeah, I mean, we've talked about it. Like, if you're on following, if people are on following, it's probably a good thing. You don't want those people following you anyway. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:15 So it's going to be, it'll be interesting to see how this show happens with Becca and, this episode that they're going to do with Becca and Rachel and how they discuss this discuss this situation. Right. Will Garrett make an appearance? I don't know, but it's, I, I, Garrett will get torn apart by Rachel Lindsay if he gets on that podcast. And maybe, maybe that's what he needs. Maybe he does need a little
Starting point is 00:46:46 ripping into from Rachel Lindsay to, you know, become aware of the situation. Yeah, somebody needs to rip into him. Like, Bethany needs to rip into him. And like, like we said, like I don't want to make it seem like it's only up. to black people to educate other people. Because, you know, I'm sure Rachel Lindsay has been putting in the work all week. She's probably tired. But it is her podcast, so.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Yeah, it's just, obviously, it continues. This is the conversation that people are continuing to have when people have become, are speaking about it on social media. And it's just, I just feel like, especially with people from The Bachelor, you just got to, when they post it, be like, All right, that person, they think that way. That's, I don't agree with them. And, you know, and maybe that's the last time you pay attention to anything they ever say.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Yeah, maybe you want to follow them. Yeah. I've been down so long and look like up to me. They look up to me. I got fake people showing fake love to me. Straight up to my face. Straight up to my face. I've been down so long and looked like up to me.
Starting point is 00:48:01 They look good to me. As we all know, taking care of your skin is extremely important. If you watch Riverdale, you know that Vanessa Morgan plays Tony Topaz.
Starting point is 00:49:53 And she posted saying that she is tired of how black people are portrayed in media, tired of us being portrayed as thugs, dangerous, or angry, scary people, tired of us also being used as sidekick, non-dimensional, characters to our white leads are only used in the ads for diversity but not actually in the show. And, you know, it says a lot about her character, which I think is very fair because she, after, I would say, like, Vanessa Morgan's character was bumped up from recurring to regular beginning with Riverdale's third season, but she has really only been, Cheryl Blossom's love interest.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Like they never really gave her kind of her own background, her own story. They've just kind of had this romance. And that she also said that, you know, my role on Riverdale has nothing to do with my fellow castmates friends. They don't write the show, so no need to attack them.
Starting point is 00:50:58 They don't call the shots. And I know they have my back. She also said that she is the only black series regular, but also paid the least amount of money. She also, you know, has a girl I could go on for days replying to someone. And, you know, there has been support Lily Reinhart, like Robactor, We Love You, V, and support you 10,000 percent. And it's just eye-opening because you don't, and we have to come,
Starting point is 00:51:26 we have to have these discussions because I, watching the show, had not even really ever thought about that until now she points it out. and I think about all the episodes that I watch. I'm like, wow, that is so true. Shame on me for not noticing that. And shame on for, you know, the writers are not making a change, but now she is taking a stand and speaking out.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Yeah, I've never watched Riverdale, so I don't exactly know her character or the other, you know, I know who's on the show, but I don't really know the dynamic of the show. But I think what I'm realizing in this time is like the most important thing that we can do is listen and learn because you're right, this is a very eye-opening thing.
Starting point is 00:52:10 I would have never known this. I don't even think I would have thought this because we just are not, you don't realize what goes on behind the scenes of shows like this that it just has been happening since the beginning of time. And, you know, it's why we're educating ourselves and why we're telling other people to educate themselves
Starting point is 00:52:29 because this is something that these people have been having to deal with. And we just didn't know about it. And it's fucked up. It really is fucked up. When you really think about it, like, why is she getting paid less than other people? Why?
Starting point is 00:52:45 When she is just as much as part as the show as everybody else. Right. If she is, if her character is now a series regular, along with all these other characters, you think, how could you possibly be getting paid the least amount? that is so, so suspicious.
Starting point is 00:53:10 And so just like, it just continues to show how our country with the just systematic racism that we've had that just because of our privilege we just have not really paid attention to or even realized until we have seen the facts and seen it all laid out in front of us. And it's horrifying and so sad. And now, you know, the Riverdale creator put out a statement and said, we hear Vanessa. We love Vanessa. She's right. We're sorry. We make the same promise to you that we did to her.
Starting point is 00:53:48 We will do better to honor her and the character she plays, as well as all of our actors and characters of color. Change is happening and we will continue and it will continue to happen. Riverdale will get bigger, not smaller. Riverdale will be a part of the movement, not outside of it. all the Riverdale writers made a donation to Black Lives Matter, L.A., but we know where the work must happen for us in the writer's room. Yeah, so I think that the only person that can judge the Riverdale writers and
Starting point is 00:54:17 creators' intentions at this point is Vanessa Moore. And if she sees a change, if she feels like they're actually doing their part, then I'm sure she will, you know, talk about it. Yeah. But it's not up to us to decide that. I don't, and like you said, I feel wrong that I would have never even thought about this, but I'm happy that Vanessa has brought it to light to educate us on the fact that this is real stuff that is happening.
Starting point is 00:54:46 Right. And, you know, other actors and actresses who have been on Riverdale have, have agreed with Vanessa. Like, you saw the way, like, I watched the show. So, like, you saw the way that, like, the pussycats in the beginning of the series, were portrayed and how like they never really got any storyline whatsoever. They were kind of on the show and then just, you know, the pussycats had broken up and then they were, they were just, their characters were just no longer a part of the show.
Starting point is 00:55:17 So there's definitely a lot of changes that could be made across the board, not just Riverdale, I'm sure tons of shows that are on right now. And like you said, Vanessa will be the one to decide if Riverdale actually steps up. I wish I knew how it would feel to be free. I wish I could break all the chains holding me. I wish I could say all the things that I should say. saying loud and clear
Starting point is 00:56:05 for the whole round world I wish I could share all the love that's in my heart remove all the bars that keep us apart I wish you could know what it means to be me
Starting point is 00:56:32 then you'd see and agree that every man should be free. I wish I could like I'm longish I could do. Not be stuck. On last week's episode, I had said that we were going to watch 13th on Netflix. We hope that you guys would watch it as well. We did watch it. We want to talk about it. 13th was a documentary, you know, 13th, 13th Amendment by Ava DuVernay.
Starting point is 00:57:30 And she, first of all, is such an amazing filmmaker and everything she does is so fantastic. But I really think, like, especially this documentary is so informative and eye-opening. and should be like required viewing. Like kids should have to watch this in school. Exactly. This is something I just said to Fran and O right before we started was I realized while watching this that there is so much that we did not learn in school
Starting point is 00:58:09 or at least I didn't learn in school that I feel like was way more important than the stuff I did learn in school. You know what I mean? Like maybe we could focus on a little less math class and a little more on this because, you know, geometry, I'm not doing that in my daily life. Yeah. Yeah. I'm with you. And that, yeah, that was, sorry to people who love geometry. Sorry to people who love geometry and use it in their daily life, but I don't, and I think that this
Starting point is 00:58:35 would have been great to learn years ago. So this was made in 2016 is when it came out, and it is you know, just as important right now and really shows how from the time of, you know, the civil war and slavery, how slavery has just evolved in different ways as the years have gone on. Like you think, oh, no, slavery. It does slavery. There's no slavery. It's the 13th Amendment. But they talk about a clause in the 13th Amendment that has to do with crime.
Starting point is 00:59:13 and how if you are, you know, a criminal that they can take advantage of that and how since then the black community has been targeted in ways that has just continued from slavery all the way now to mass incarceration. Right. There are so, like they figured out different ways to enslave black people. It was like, okay, slavery is done, wink, wink, but now we're going to do all. of this. And like you said, there was something they pointed out. It was like, you know, how to, how to navigate it in a way where they can just paint people out to be criminals and paint them in a light where it's like these people are bad people, they're criminals. Even talking about cocaine versus crack cocaine and how cocaine is like a rich person drug and it's in wealthy areas
Starting point is 01:00:06 and it's more associated with white people where crack cocaine is basically the same thing as cocaine. you could just smoke it. And that's more seen in black communities and in poorer communities and that if you get charged, if you get caught with cocaine, it's less of a charge than getting caught with crack cocaine because crack cocaine was seen more in black communities. Right. Like that those are things that when you learn about that, it's just completely fucked up. Cocaine and crack cocaine are the same thing, in my opinion.
Starting point is 01:00:38 Same drug. Same offense. So they're just, you realize. you realize that they're figuring out different avenues to go about this. You know, I think it started with Nixon who coined the term War on Drugs. And then it was Reagan who then actually started the war on drugs. And then it went to Bill Clinton,
Starting point is 01:00:57 who just started putting everybody in jail. It was like he came up with the three strikes and you're out. If you get three criminal charges, then boom, you're in prison for life. And I think that something that was really eye-opening to me. And I want to talk about how when this has nothing to do with the documentary, but it made me realize how wrong I was when we talked about Bryce Hall and the other TikTok kid getting arrested for weed. And we were like, oh, you know, thank God it was just weed.
Starting point is 01:01:31 But like that is so wrong. It was more, you should have said thank God they're white. Yeah, exactly. Like it was a privileged way for me. the thing, oh, it's just weed, they're going to be fine. Because you know what? People who get caught with just weed are not fine. They're not. And I, this is crazy. I'm even citing Elon Musk because I think he's kind of crazy at times. But he tweeted about how insane it is that there are still people locked up for life, for weed that has now become an essential business to be open during a
Starting point is 01:02:04 pandemic. Like it's illegal in multiple states, illegal in some, but some people are still locked up for life or something that is now legal. Like that is insane to me. Right. And the conversation around marijuana now is very important to read about and learn about because obviously there are different things, different laws in different states. But there are so, so many people who are locked up for small marijuana charges who are still in prison for that reason.
Starting point is 01:02:41 And even though these laws are changing, we're now, like, in certain states it's legal, these people are still locked up. And it's crazy, like, just the numbers alone of how in, I think, you know, like the 1970s, it was like 370,000, like, in that range. And then you get to 2,000, the early 2000s, or 2010, and now we're at 2.3 million.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Like, the numbers are absolutely insane. You know, the comments by celebs girls have posted a lot of really good information. They've been posting a lot of great posts, a lot of great links to read. I love them so much. I love them so much, so much. I just want to put that. I fucking love them. Yes. And so they, they had posted literally about this because they, you know, they had tweet,
Starting point is 01:03:37 they had posted Elon Musk tweet. And Charlaman the God had commented you know people have been saying this since they started legalizing marijuana. And then they posted a screenshot from the ACLU saying that according to the ACLU's original analysis,
Starting point is 01:03:54 marijuana arrests now count for over half of all drug arrests in the United States of the 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010, 88% were for simply having marijuana. nationwide, the arrest data revealed one consistent trend, significant racial bias. Despite roughly equal usage rates, blacks are 3.73 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana.
Starting point is 01:04:20 And, you know, the ACLU had actually commented in the post and said anyone who wants to read the full report, you can read it at their website. If you just go to ACLU.org slash marijuana data, you can find everything there. but it just all really ties in to the documentary and to just finding reasons for people of color to be put into jail. And yeah, and I think that realizing how much the media and movies and TV
Starting point is 01:04:59 have tried to paint black people as criminal was extremely eye-opening because I think, you know, when you're a younger kid and you're watching these things, you're not necessarily thinking that way, but subconsciously, I think it goes into your brain. You know what I mean? Like when you're a younger kid, you're a sponge, you're absorbing everything that's around you. And when they put this stuff on TV, then all of a sudden they're trying to instill these thoughts into your brain that are not true. And it's, it's just, it's, just was extremely, extremely eye-opening, you know, especially with the conversation around the law enforcement and cops right now. It's just like when they show the videos of just the show
Starting point is 01:05:51 cops, you see how often it's white cops just taking down black people. Yeah. And it's the learning about just the amount of money that is poured into this and the influences that major corporations have on writing these bills and then getting them actually passed in government because of money. And obviously, you know, that's no surprise. Like that's, you know, obviously people have said politicians are corrupt for forever. But, But, you know, watching it all and seeing it all laid out like this, it just, it just makes sense on like, you know, Walmart. Oh, Walmart makes all these guns and ammo. And they're the biggest seller for all these things.
Starting point is 01:06:48 So they want people to be buying more guns and people and having that connect to the, you know, this Alec is what they were talking about. and how all these companies support Alec to get these bills passed that benefit them. And one of them was private prisons and how that has just grown and continued. And it's it's crazy. And, you know, they told the story of Khalif Browder, which is so heartbreaking. And there actually is, I think, another Netflix special on just Khalif's life. called Time, the Khalif Browder story. And this is how he had, in 2010, he was just 16, and he was accused of stealing a backpack,
Starting point is 01:07:41 and he was arrested. And his bail was set at a price that he could not afford. His family could not afford. A neighbor had later lent the money to pay his bail, but he was denied release. And this is the system that they have where these, like the bail was set so high. so that he couldn't get out, and then they basically trick these kids into taking a plea bargain, a plea deal, because they scare them with like the minimum sentences are so high. Like, it's like, all right, well, you'll be, if you go to trial, you'll be in jail for 20 years,
Starting point is 01:08:21 but if you just plead guilty, we'll give you three years, and it's like they're doing a good thing. And Khalif did not do that because he knew he was innocent. He knew he didn't do anything wrong, but he was still in jail for three years, two in solitary confinement. He had witnessed all this violence with the inmates and prison guards, and after he was finally released two years later, he died by suicide. And it's just an absolutely heartbreaking story. and it also just makes you think of how like we talked so much about the college admission scandal and how like Felicity Huffman and Lori Lachlin like got in trouble but like they really didn't like the the privilege that they have as white women who are you know in celebrities
Starting point is 01:09:20 and just got nothing. Like Felicity Huffman was in jail for 14 days and was out. And Leroy Lachlan's, you know, probably won't have to spend that much time in prison either. Yeah. So just the disparity and the contrast between the two is crazy. Yeah, it's insane and extremely eye-opening, like we said. I really recommend watching this documentary as a start, you know,
Starting point is 01:09:50 we've been talking about ways to educate yourself. I think that this documentary is the perfect place to go because it's going to open your mind to so many things you've never even thought about before. Because we've never, as white privileged people, we never worried about it. But I don't think that means just completely ignore it. Watch this documentary and you will see and you will educate yourself on how corrupt some of this shit really is. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:10:18 And it's, I said to you after we finished, after we finished watching it, it sounds so lame and, and pretty selfish because, like you said, we hadn't really paid that much attention. But like, because of Kim Kardashian, I feel like so many more people started to pay attention to prison reform and to hearing these people's stories who've been locked up for so long. and that is just really a sign of, you know, how bad it was that nobody was paying attention until, like, Kim Kardashian was like, oh, this is a problem. And we're like, oh, Kim Kardashian says this is a problem. Like, that's, there we go. We've got to be better than that. Right.
Starting point is 01:11:08 Like when Kim Kardashian speaks up isn't when we should start paying attention to things. But sadly, that's the world we're in. Right. And, you know, kudos to Kim because she definitely has put a lot of, you know, eyeballs on this problem and trying to find ways to help people who have been in prison for so, so long, for such small minor charges to be able to get out and start their lives again. So, like you said, Ria, I think this is a great documentary. to watch if you're looking, if you're just, you're looking to educate yourself, you want to start somewhere. This was, um, a great, a great way to start, I think, because I think it's an easy way to watch, learn and then maybe continue on with other books or other, you know, documentaries and
Starting point is 01:12:06 whatnot. But it was like a very, it covered a lot. So I feel like it was a good, um, starting point. Everybody here. Everybody. Everybody. Let's get into it. Get stumpy. I'm all starting. I'm all starting. Yes, started. There's only one beer out there that's literally made to chill, and that's Cores Light. The mounds on the bottles and cans even turn blue when your beer is cold. That way, you always know when it's time to chill.
Starting point is 01:12:50 When you need to hit reset, just open to Cores Light. It's Mountain Cold Refreshment made to chill. Cors Light is the official beer of Chicks in the Office. We know that it's the beer that we go to when we need a moment to turn off a little bit, just to, I think our favorite is really just watching our favorite TV show, having to Coors Light, maybe it's, you know, getting closer to the weekend, and we enjoy a nice cold Coors Light. Coors Light is brewed with a three-step cold process, cold loggered, cold filtered, and cold packaged, so it's actually made to chill.
Starting point is 01:13:26 The mountains on Coors Light's cold-activated bottles and cans turn blue and chilled to perfection. Corz Light was born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in 1978, and it's refreshing, crisp, and only 102 calories. Corz Light is the perfect refreshing beer for chilling. Like I said, watching TV, hanging out with friends, whatever it is that you want to do. Now it's, you know, obviously closer to the summertime. Corz Light have a nice Corz Light on the beach. That's why Corz Light is the one that we choose when we need a moment of chill. So when you want to reset, reach for the beer.
Starting point is 01:14:00 that's made to chill. You can have Coorslight delivered by going to get.corslight.com and finding local delivery options near you. Once again, that is get.com to find local delivery options near you. And always remember to celebrate responsibly, this is coming from the Coors Brewing Company in Golden Colorado. We know it's been a few weeks, but we have officially caught up on the challenge. We wanted to talk about it.
Starting point is 01:14:28 and figure, you know, this was a good spot to jump back in after we saw the absolute masterclass from Johnny Bananas on last week's episode. I love Johnny Bananas. You guys know this. We've loved Johnny Bananas for a long time. But my God, was this episode that we have been waiting for. I don't think we're going to go through it, like, from top to bottom. But we'll talk about it.
Starting point is 01:14:56 West versus Johnny Bananas, something that, challenge fans have been waiting for for years. If you have watched the challenge since the beginning of time, you have been waiting for the day that Johnny Bananas and Wes would face it out. And you know what? Maybe we would have hoped that this would have happened when they were like, I don't want to say in their prime because I don't want to discredit Johnny Bananas, but I think more Wes.
Starting point is 01:15:18 Like I think Wes is kind of past his prime. Like I don't, you know, he took a break from the challenge for a while. He came back. He hasn't won yet. I still think it's because they became friends this season that even though it was great to watch and was really exciting, it would have been even more exciting if they still hated each other with the passion that they hated each other with years ago. But they're just, they're too old now to have that same. And they're not old, but they're just too old to still have those same feelings towards each other.
Starting point is 01:15:55 If they were still getting mad about each other at shit that happened 20 years, years ago, everyone would be like, all right, Johnny and Wes, give it a rest. But I also think that working together this season made me kind of happy. I like when the OGs get together and they kind of go against the new people because I think that's, you know, a right of passage. You have to work your way up to that, especially with people like Johnny Bananas, who's been doing this for however long 20 years at this point. So, yeah, it's, it was fun to watch. them team up but it was also funny because I feel like right away this episode this past episode Johnny knew like Johnny just really worked West his
Starting point is 01:16:43 advantage he threw the he threw the challenge because he wanted to be the one nominated to nominate to go in and he got his way he got nominated in Wes wins and I feel like he kind of got Wes into this twisted, like this twisted, uh, mentality he didn't know, he didn't really know which way to go because Johnny really backed him into a corner. He was like, well, if I go in, now I have to go against Johnny, but like, now I might not have another time and Johnny stole this week for me and really just didn't give, I feel like he didn't really give Wes a choice. Like if Wes, Johnny went in and if Wes up there, I think he talked himself
Starting point is 01:17:33 into like, I have to go in or I'm going to be an absolute embarrassment laughing stock. Like everybody's to be like, wow, Weston step up to the plate and go in and face Johnny. And it just like really worked at Johnny's advantage. Yeah, Johnny knows how to play the game. I mean, I think at this point in time, you have to get into an elimination or else you can't go to the finals. So, everybody who's sitting back and has been afraid to go into the elimination is not doing themselves any good. You have to go through an elimination. And I can imagine not wanting to sit around for another week with anticipation knowing, am I going to make it in? Am I not going to make it in? Am I going to make it in? At this point in time, Johnny Bananas, in my opinion, he's going to the final. Because he went up against Wes. Now, everybody in the house respect that he threw himself in. He also beat West, which is, you know, everyone, everyone wants. to see Johnny versus West who's going to win it. He's got the respect of the house, I think. So I think at this point in time, he's moving forward right along.
Starting point is 01:18:35 He's played it the right way. Oh, everything was coming up bananas in that episode. I mean, even when he nominated himself and people like Corey and Nelson, who obviously have always tried to take down Johnny were like, yeah, man, you know, we said clean slate, we'll give this one to you. And good luck. and they really just handed it to him, which was crazy,
Starting point is 01:18:57 just shows that Johnny has that kind of power. It was really funny to see nobody debate him. They were like, all right, Johnny, go put your name up there. Yeah, I think that the whole season, I think, has everybody so backwards anyway with the fact that, like, you want to go into eliminations, is like nobody really knows how to play the situation. But seeing the end of that, and, you know, Johnny winning,
Starting point is 01:19:22 and and Hootie and the Blowfish playing. Like it was such an almost an out of body experience. You were like, what, what am I watching? Like it was, it was like that Johnny and Wes have had this unbelievable love story this whole time. And it almost brings a tear to your eye. Like Johnny and Wes in their interviews,
Starting point is 01:19:46 they're both like, you know, I want to look back on these decades. of time that I've spent on the challenge and I want to be able to look back and think of West as a friend. And it was just like, what is happening? Yeah, it was like a romantic comedy. You're right, with the music that was playing. Oh, my God. And I think it's funny because if Johnny didn't win this elimination, there is no way that he would be looking back and saying, I'm going to look back on these moments and say I was friends with West. I know Johnny. He's not saying that unless he wins. Wes, on the other hand, I think handled the loss pretty well. I think he, you know,
Starting point is 01:20:27 he said the same thing as Johnny. Like, you know what? I'm a look back on this. Me and Bananas, we formed a friendship. I really have, and I know, look, I have not watched all the seasons that you have. So, like, I never, I've seen some of, like, the Johnny West dynamic, but it's really only been, I would say, you know, the past four seasons. or so. And I just, I have a soft spot for Wes. I really like think deep down West is a good person. Absolutely. I think that if you think about Johnny and Wes's past relationship, you're going back, I keep saying 20 years. It's probably a little less than that. It's a lot of seasons. Maybe it is 20 years. But you think about how, you know, it went from the
Starting point is 01:21:15 real world to the challenge. And the challenge was the, a big, you know, it's still a big reality TV show, but there are so many other reality TV shows now. Whereas when the challenge first started out, you know, it was one of the only reality TV shows. You know, there were plenty other ones, but not like there is now, not even close. So I think it was a mixture of, you know, them getting big heads off of getting this initial reality TV show fame that they were really only seeing for the first time. you know there weren't people to model their careers after um and it's a it's a show about competitiveness and and you have to be athletic and you have to be strong and i think a lot of men they're like i'm stronger no i'm stronger and i think that's where probably most of it comes from but when you've been
Starting point is 01:22:13 doing it for so long i think that just wears out the need to like beat the other person especially when there are so many other people coming in now. You've been on so many seasons. You've caused fights with other people that, and they know that they were making good TV when they were doing these things. Johnny and Wes are both aware on how to make a good TV show, how to make a good plot on. And coming together was a great point.
Starting point is 01:22:41 Yeah, I think that these are things that they fed into in years prior, because even though I would root against Wes, I still secretly would be mad when he was off the show because he does add an element to the show, an instigator. So I think they just have known what they've been doing this whole time, even though there probably was some real hatred. They probably were like, you know what, it's been so long at this point. What are we fighting for now?
Starting point is 01:23:08 Let's switch the plot around. This one's old. Let's get a new one going. And then it worked out even more in the end because people were like, wow, they're going to go against each other when they finally became friends. Yep. So this whole thing kind of worked out for them as to be the stars of the challenge this season.
Starting point is 01:23:24 It definitely did. I also want to talk about a couple other things from what's been going on this season. One is Jenna and Zach. Like Jenna, I thought, really bawled out this season. She got thrown to elimination, one, then got thrown into another elimination and, you know, unfortunately lost. but everybody, everybody counted her out being like, you know, she's out, Zach, this drama with Zach, you know, she's going to leave, she doesn't want to be here. She showed everyone that she was a badass,
Starting point is 01:23:59 but winning the first elimination. But like, I'm sure that was in the back of her mind, Zach is so annoying. I just, like, she's on the challenge. She's on the show. Zach has been on the show. He knows how the show works. And to give her that ultimatum over video, chat, like being like, well, I don't know if, you know, we're ever going to work if you don't come home, like, right now was so unfair, so unfair. It was very unfair. I'm still not sure if that was planned or if that's really what happened. I kind of think that's really what happened, although I've seen other people say, like, oh, they're just doing it for the show. I just, I just feel like I kind of have an insight as to what Zach and Jenna's relationship has been like for her so
Starting point is 01:24:47 long now that it doesn't seem too unlikely for Zach to be like, you've got to come home. Right. And what, and I honestly don't know really anything about it, but I remember seeing someone DM'd about like an Amanda, Amanda, Zach Jenna situation. Ooh. Right now that like I'm not quite sure what the details of that are, but maybe something that I'm going to have to look into. But it really took, really, I felt bad for Jenna because that was so unfair, especially on a season where she was doing so well. Like, it just, it just sucked that, you know, because of that, she got targeted. It might not have gone that way if sacked it and put her in that position. And then there was also Kayla and Bear, which was a funny dynamic because Bear,
Starting point is 01:25:45 persistence, that guy is persistent. Like, clearly when he wants something, he goes and tries to go and get it, especially when it's a woman. Like, Kayla's, like, repeating over and over again how she has such a serious boyfriend. That just wasn't, you know, obviously, that fell apart when she ended up kissing Bear
Starting point is 01:26:08 and they had this whole, you know, dynamic. Obviously, nothing happened with Kayla and Bear after the show, but it's just, like, blow up. your life on TV and keep going. Yeah, I think the crazy thing with that or not that shocking at all was just hearing her say like, oh, you know, I've changed as a person. I really want to be faithful to my boyfriend and then all of a sudden, bear comes in the picture and everything changes. It's like, you know, for the entertainment purposes, it is what it is. But, you know, maybe, maybe focus on some good morals. Right. And you know, like what I also now love about the challenge,
Starting point is 01:26:44 bringing on people like from Love Island or MTV using people from Love Island now, UK, is that they're all intermeeting and dating because now Kayla is actually dating Sam from Love Island season four, I think season four, who was with Georgia. Yeah. Remember that Sam? Yeah. Now I think Sam made an appearance on, I didn't finish a whole X on the beach season. season that Georgia was on. But I think that Sam made an appearance on X on the Beach when Georgia was
Starting point is 01:27:20 on X on the beach. And now Kayla and Sam are dating. This is what I like to see. Our favorite reality shows. Yeah. Mixing. Yeah. Look at them together. It's just, there they are. MTV and Love Island, UK. It's just a match made in heaven. A dream come true. It really is because those people make such great reality TV and I feel like if they were to go on and do other reality TV like most shows we wouldn't obviously watch. We don't watch a lot of British reality television. But when they do other shows and then also mix it in with MTV, we get to see it all. I will say last few thoughts about the challenge throughout the season was really sad to see Tori go so early. That sucks. Right.
Starting point is 01:28:11 I wish that didn't happen because we, we love Tori. And, you know, Jordan followed shortly after. So the, this was like, I just keep going back to Johnny. Like, Johnny has just got to be so, I had to have been in that moment so pumped because, like, Tori and Jordan are gone. Wes is gone. Like, now who's you dealing with Kyle, Rogan, Josh? Like, this is now Johnny season two. lose. Yes.
Starting point is 01:28:42 And I'll get a lot of Nelson, but... He's not winning anymore. Right. And and some of them are just so freaking annoying. Nelson... They got to be put in their place. Nelson saying just rude shit Colin Kayla
Starting point is 01:28:58 slut. He's just such he... Nelson continues to be Nelson. It's like he never said, like he never learns from the things that he says. Rogan is so annoying. Rogan and D are, I just, I'm so over Rogan and D. Is D dating Wes? Like, no, they're like best, I don't know. They said their best, posted a picture of D the other day, too.
Starting point is 01:29:24 They say their best friends or are they best friends? Yeah. They say their best friends, but I don't know. I don't know. But I've liked a lot of the new people. I feel like, you know, they brought in a bunch of competitive new people, which is great. So, like you said, it's Johnny's to lose at this point. I feel like, because he also has all the, like, Kyle and Josh worship Johnny, I feel like. Yep. And then you have Corey, Nelson, who, you know, well, it's like you can probably beat Corey and Nelson maybe Rogan is a thrown in there, Bailey and Swaggy Sea. So we'll see.
Starting point is 01:30:02 But now I feel like Johnny could get Bailey and Swaggy C with him since they're or with Wes and be like, well, he had Wes, now he's gone, now he can come to me. Absolutely. He'll make it work. Johnny knows how to play the game. He'll make it work. All right, that wraps up today's episode of Chicks in the Office. We love you guys, and we can't wait to talk to you guys on Thursday.
Starting point is 01:30:26 Ninety-nine. Ninety-nine. Sound of the folk jama. Music can't your heart because I know you got a soul. Listen if you're missing, y'all. Swinging while I'm singing. Give it what you're getting. Knowing what I'm knowing while the black man
