We also have a great interview this episode as well.
We're starting to get back in the swing of things.
You know, we got all these guests.
We've got to put them on with recaps.
Pretty exciting.
It's Lucy Hale.
She's amazing.
Great interview.
So cool.
And I will say something felt really good about having her in studio.
Like people are starting to come back.
the office doing in-person interviews. It's just so much better. I'm so used to doing Zoom interviews
that I walked in today and they were like, Lucy Hale's coming into the office and I was,
I was like, wait a second. She's coming into this office, which was awesome. She was super cool. And so
that will be on this podcast. And then we had another in-person interview that we will be airing
later on in the week. But it is time to talk about The Bachelorette, everybody. Yes, it is.
All right. Let's kick it off. The episode started right away.
with a one-on-one date with Martin.
I do feel like
I talked about this already,
but there are so many different ways, like,
I would normally just say Martin.
Martin. Martin.
Martin. Martin.
Martin.
But there's like, I feel like when people are really trying to be serious,
like, spoiler, she gave him a rose.
We'll get to that.
But when she did that, she was like,
Martin, do you accept this?
Like, will you take this rose?
Martin.
Martin.
Martin.
like Annie Anns.
Is it
like Antianns or
Annieans? Oh
Antianns.
Antianns. Okay.
I guess that's just me.
I definitely throw the tea in there.
It's late guys. I'm sorry.
I was going to say I don't know what Annie Ans is.
Antianns.
We're talking about the pretzel place?
Martin.
Yes.
I don't.
Her date with Martin.
Yeah.
They went race
car driving kind of.
of not really it was like drifting yeah i don't know what you would call that a fast and furious date
it was and i was thinking that let's get in the car and let's drive in circles martin looks like a fast and
furious character he does you know he could just get he could go into that cast and no one would bat
and i so true but would he be in the family or a bad guy i think he'd be a bad guy please don't spoil
fast and furious yeah oh okay well martin's not in the show there's been nine movies so have you
not seen any of them maria
a single fast-a-virous movie?
No, but I know that I should.
We talked about this recently.
The first one is just like a good car movie.
They're all good.
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.
They are really good at,
but they just, they get more and more absurd as they go.
The way we both just did that to Paul Walker.
The one where a car literally drives
off a building into another building,
like in Dubai.
In Dubai, yeah.
Tyrese is in the second one,
too fast and furious.
Really good movies.
But Martin could be in those.
It really.
You'll binge those this weekend.
Paul Walker, like, being dead truly makes me so sad.
It's a very sad celebrity death.
I mean, they're all sad.
But his came out of nowhere so much.
I'm in Heath Ledger.
Oh, yeah.
And Vin Diesel walking his daughter down the aisle.
Oh, that was very nice.
That's why I asked if Martin would fit in with the, would he be in the family or a bad guy.
But with that hair, bad guy, for sure.
Bad guy.
Bad, but you know who really likes Martin?
Michelle.
Yeah, but it seemed like she wasn't quite sure.
and you know who also seems to have a lot of things to say about the other guys, Olu.
Like they keep catching Olu in these interviews being like he doesn't stand a chance.
Like it kind of seems like he keeps talking about these guys and like, yeah, I don't think, I don't think Martin's coming back.
I really like Olu.
I do.
I guess I hadn't picked up on that.
Yeah, it's happened a couple times now, but it does seem like, I don't know, it does seem like, I don't know,
it does seem like it's an odd pairing.
She definitely does like him, but there is a kind of weirdness maybe at the beginning
because of the way that he asked about Jamie.
Right, him and Jamie were close.
And I was concerning to her because obviously Jamie did not have a good week last week.
Right, but also interesting to me, like that Michelle would, that Martin would even care
that much to like, like he got sent home.
Move on.
I agree because it's not like Martin and Jamie knew each other all that long.
How long did they know each other?
No, it's like, and also, you're, you want the girl, right?
Right.
When he was, I'm going to be worried about your boy.
He's gone.
I agree with you, because when he brought up Jamie, I thought to myself, what is he doing?
Yeah.
Like, what's the point of this?
Yeah.
While there's no reason to be talking about Jamie, Jamie's gone.
Right.
And now we just need to focus on Martin and Michelle.
It's almost like someone told him, be like, you should check in on like the Jamie
situation because him bringing him, him bringing Jamie up made no sense whatsoever.
And it clearly turned Michelle off.
Yeah.
It seemed like something that you definitely.
don't bring up to the
Bacheloret of someone that she sent home for reasons
like that on a one-on-one. It's like, let's talk
about us. Let's talk about our relationship.
Why don't you ask about me? So she
was definitely concerned about that. They did
have a hot tub
what felt like
came out of nowhere. They confused me with that
because, so they did the racing of the cars
and the drifting and then Michelle said,
all right, let's go cool off. And then
they got into the tub. I wasn't sure if it was a hot tub.
Am I just assuming it was a hot tub? Maybe it was a
Maybe it was a punch pool.
I think it was a cold tub.
A cold tub.
I think it was a cold tub.
They looked very cold.
She was sitting there like this.
And I think she was cold.
Let's also think they are in the desert.
Yeah.
So maybe getting into like a cold bath feels nice.
Also, if you go back and watch, she does when she first initially gets into the tub,
she kind of does like, this is cold water.
Interesting.
But have you ever touched hot water too?
Like, ooh.
Yeah.
Is there a difference in reaction?
But I think being the desert is a good point.
Nobody gets into a hot water.
tub in a desert.
I think they've done it on this show.
I feel like you would be so dehydrated.
You would faint.
It feels like a risk.
Yeah.
I feel like Clarentia season.
They did it.
But yeah,
no.
Oh, true.
That was hotter than any season ever.
Yeah.
For sure.
And so she said, you know,
she had these concerns,
wanted to talk to him about it.
And at dinner,
it did seem like he quickly
dispelled any of her concerns
with the Jamie thing.
like he listened to her
which I think is very big for Michelle
Yeah like she said afterwards
She was like you know
He's great to talk to
But what's also really great about him
Is he's a great listener
Yeah and he definitely heard from Michelle
And not so many words like
I don't want to talk about Jamie anymore
Yeah
I don't want to hear about Jamie
We can't talk about Jamie after we get out of this cold tub
Like I'm out
Yeah definitely
But it's weird because
They of course talked about other things
But the way
We watched it
It did feel like Jamie
was kind of a big topic of conversation
for their entire date almost.
But at the end of the day,
it did work out.
He did get a rose
and they ended their dates
in like an observatory,
I guess you could maybe call it.
That's exactly what it is.
Which is really cool.
I mean, stars,
very romantic.
Romantic, awesome.
I don't really, you know,
they confuse me
because they're just out there.
You guys ever just lay outside
and look at the stars?
Yeah, my sister.
knows all the stars. It's crazy. I'll sit
outside with her and she will point
to the stars in the sky
and she knows the name. She also has
an app where she just holds it up.
Yeah. She just holds it up.
And if she doesn't know, she'll
test herself. She'll be like, I think that's
whatever. And then she'll hold it up and be like, yep, I
got it. Wow. It's very, I actually think
it's very interesting to have
an interest like that because I don't
but when I watch her do it. A little dipper.
No, no, it goes deeper.
Orion's belt. And I just, I'm like, wow, that's
so wholesome that she looks up at the stars
and knows the names, I wish I could be
more... Astronomy.
I wish I could be more educated than that.
One of the best parts of this job is
traveling, and when you get away from big cities,
like when we go on these golf trips, we go
to the middle of nowhere sometimes.
And without light pollution, you can look up
and you can see all the stars. And it's
like you get a little glimpse of it in the cities,
but when you get away from all that and you look
up, you get why people are like, holy shit.
And Martha's Vineyard, it's awesome.
My dad has the same thing. He stands out
inside. And it's, and it feels
it's less of a test and more of like a total
dad like, oh, well look what's over
here and just like has it up, like moving it around
on circles. That was like when my dad
first, when Shazam came out. Do you remember that app?
When that first came out, it was like, holy shit.
You shazammed everything. People are still
Shazaming. Even songs you knew. It's still like, I don't
understand how stuff like that works. It's insane. I was
with somebody recently
I used it still. I used it still, but not the Shazamming.
Shazam app on its own because now they have it in Snapchat.
Are you like shaming Shazammers?
I'm not. I just was stunned.
I have it as a shortcut right here.
Wow.
You are very into music.
That was a music app is like.
I hear a song.
You only have a window of time to figure out what the song is and it could be gone.
You know what I usually do, which I should just get Shazam.
I write down the lyrics I hear in my notes.
I'm like, I write down the lyrics and I go Google the lyric later and then.
Sometimes I open Google right away and just put it right in the browser and hope that it works.
I'm pretty sure they.
created Shazam for that reason exactly what you guys are talking about.
And you know, you don't want anyone around you to know you're doing it.
Like you type it in so secretly.
That's what I do with Shazam.
I don't want anyone.
Because like, I'm like,
because you don't want to admit you don't know what the song is.
I could ask, but I don't want to be the guy who doesn't know who the song.
Yeah, yeah.
That app is like Shazam for the stars.
When you think about it.
Yeah, pretty much.
I'm going to think about it.
But it was very romantic in the observatory,
looking at the stars, in the big telescope.
I was very nice. It was a nice date. I truly felt like nothing stood out to me on this date.
Nope. I was like, what a par for the course one-on-one date.
Outside of the Jamie stuff, nothing.
And I get that. Like, they definitely like each other, but I'm not like, after the date with Rodney,
I felt like I liked Rodney a lot more and was like, I'm into this. This one just evoked no emotion.
Unfortunately, I agree.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
So Martin seems like a nice guy.
Yeah.
Michelle definitely likes him to, you know, he's been getting these dates.
He's been getting all these roses.
But I don't think that they've plateaued anyway, but there's nothing, yeah, there's nothing really to grab onto.
Yeah.
No one, Trent, you guys are men, correct?
I'd say so.
I'll check.
I think so.
I think so.
Calm down.
Hands to yourself, okay?
Calm down.
Over there?
Hands of yourself.
You wear a lot of T-shirts and sweatshirts.
That's true.
Yeah, I do.
Also, also correct.
cuts clothing makes the best t-shirts
best sweatshirts for
for men honestly I take them too
because they are very very comfortable
but they um the
cuts founder Stephen Borelli
shot
shot up Borelli's
God I love Borelli's
God I love Boreleys
he wanted to make clothes ready for every occasion
the modern man faces
so we wanted to reinvent the t-shirt
so he made a shirt that GQ Magazine
calls the only shirt worth wearing.
They have these amazing t-shirts,
Henley, sweatshirts.
Joe loves them, obsessed.
It's like Christmas morning
anytime I bring some home.
Because, you know, I'm getting stuff.
We get boxes. Everything's always for me.
And I came home. I had
the new t-shirts, sweatshirts.
He was like, are those for me?
He couldn't have been more excited.
They have, like, the way they do the hems is
really nice. They do like a rounded hem on
the bottom. So it's very slim.
It's very attractive.
They have this signature, buttery soft, custom engineered PICA Pro tri-blend tea, which is, like I said, it's incredibly soft.
It's the ultimate blend of high-quality cotton, polyester, and spandex.
You can wear them.
You can dress them up.
You can dress them down.
Like I said, they also now have joggers, bomber jackets, polos, all things for the winter months, which is really great.
They're expanding.
They're having a massive sale right now.
They're going...
I know normally like the sales come later, like around Christmas.
They're starting this bad boy November 9th.
So right now you can get it.
This is it.
Shipageddon, is there what they're calling it?
Shipageddon, 2021 is coming.
And preparation cuts is starting.
He's right because like it takes forever to get anything shipped.
So you want to be prepared for the holidays.
Make sure you order things early so that you have the time.
So that's why they're starting.
They're still early.
30% off site wide.
So you can have worry-free holiday shopping.

And also it's a great gift.
You can buy them and steal for yourself.
That's c-U-T-S clothing.com.
Group date.
Biggest group date of the season so far.
They were talking about that.
It was going to be very clear.
who was not on the group date
was the one who was going to get the next one-on-one.
That was Rick.
But these guys are all
gearing up for the group date
and Nate goes and answers the door
and there's all these bags, gifts.
They come and all have their names on it
and everybody has their own set of pajamas.
Some silk, some knot, some robes.
Brandon, they gave him sweatpants and that was it.
Yeah, like just pants.
Some just shirts.
Some got very nice.
Like Rodney was just.
in a onesie. Chris S got like the risky business look with the tidy whiteies and the socks.
Yeah, Brandon was just in sweatpants. And then when Michelle came in and talked to them, he was just sitting on the couch next door just nips out. Just like, all right, what are we going to do today? Trent, you're on that date. What do you hope is in your pajama bag?
Onsy.
Onsy. Yeah. Yeah. Me and Rodney aligned in a lot of things. It would appear. And I would love a onesie. Like I think I would like, are onesies like acceptable for.
adults?
Yes.
Now, absolutely.
Oh, I have plenty of onesies.
You do?
Oh, my gosh.
Like, I'd love to just trot around my house in my apartment.
Oh, you have to.
The best feeling ever is taking a shower and then putting on a fresh shower, putting on your
onesie, getting into a dirty shower.
No, no, no.
No, I mean, I, one of those ones where you cover yourself in dirt?
Yeah.
I meant like a really good shower.
You know, so there's like, I think I take pretty good showers consistently.
There's different, but for girls, there's different tears of showers, like a body shower.
Like, yeah, full wash your hair, shave your whole body.
So, like, I'm talking like full shower.
Like full shower, then put a onesie on, get into bed, start a show or a nice movie, a little hot cocoa.
Yes, there is definitely a difference with, you know, you've got full shower.
Like you're doing for a grill, you get everything you get out and you get into a nice, fuzzy.
Clean sheets.
You wash the sheets and everything before.
Okay.
I'm going to.
You know what my sister had?
That was awesome.
Don't get yourself a one.
Why?
Because we're going to get one for you.
You're going to get me a onesie?
All right.
You deserve like a little thank you gift for coming on tour with us.
So that'll be.
What about a onesie that looks like his outfit?
But it's really just one.
It's like khakis and black.
Watch out.
I'll start wearing that to work.
Make your own onesie.
We will figure that out.
I wonder if you can do that.
We'll figure that out.
It's got to be a customizable one.
Has to.
If not we're going to start that company because it's an awesome idea.
Yep.
Yep.
Absolutely.
So the guys, they're all dressed in their pajamas.
ready to go. The date is like slumber party themed.
I don't know what kid at had a slumber parties with the fucking popcorn machine,
but like it was like a big.
It was like a slumber party slash carnival.
That's like what rich kids have it there.
Sleepovers, I would imagine.
Giant teddy bears.
But the problem with this date was Michelle felt like no one was paying attention to her.
There was all these guys and they were afraid like she didn't know if the guys didn't
want to be stepping on each other's toes or if they were just like trying to hang.
And of course they kept showing clips of the guys like being like, yeah, we're just, you know,
day hanging with the boys.
Like there's, there, there's one moment where Michelle was off to the side and they were like,
let's play talk, talk, dog, goose.
Right?
That's what they say.
Oh, yeah.
And they're like, well, should we invite Michelle?
And they're like, oh, well, let's just start.
Then she can join in.
I'll tell you what happened.
when you put guys in the scenario like this,
we just want to eat candy and punch each other
in the stomach.
Like at one point they were comparing abs and punching each other in the stomach.
Yeah, Olu just wanted his abs punched.
That's like every sleepover I've ever been to.
And he was like, don't worry, Michelle, you don't need to be a part of this.
Yeah.
Like if you, they put a bunch of candy around, a bunch of popcorn, you know,
a bunch of teddy bears.
Like, if you're going to give them that situation like that,
guys are just going to be like, we're just going to do guys being dudes and
hanging out.
I get that she felt left out and that was wrong.
I felt sad for her.
I was like, nobody.
Nobody went over to, like, sit and talk to her.
It's like she had to try and insert herself with them.
Like, come on, come on, guys.
We got to see.
There's always somebody who gets left out at the sleepover.
Yeah, but it shouldn't be the basteret.
You got to see whose stomach is tougher.
You got to punch your child on the stomach.
They were looking out for her.
Right.
Yeah.
But then I guess the big event was like this teddy bear fight, teddy bear wrestling.
The Bella twins were there.
Yep.
And they said, we're going to wrestle.
We're going to use the giant teddy bears.
They had two teams, and the team that one would get to spend extra time with Michelle, those guys were whacking those teddy bears.
I was shocked that one of them, like, this, like, stitching or stuffing didn't come off or something, come out because they were, like, whipping those things at each other.
It was very funny because at the beginning of the day, they said, go pick out your teddy bear and, like, dress it how you want.
Yeah, it was like build a bear day.
And then the second half of the day was use it as a weapon.
and just slam it up against.
Take the teddy bear and crush them.
I found that very, very funny.
Like, you know that thing you love and you've been cuddling with for two hours?
You're not going to use that to bash into another guy's head.
Like, okay.
Yeah.
And once again, Michelle was not really involved in this.
And you could see Caitlin and Tasia were there and they felt like, you know, Michelle's vibes were off.
And she didn't really want to talk about it in that moment.
Because she's like, I don't want to cry right now.
I would be curious to know what would happen if Michelle just stood up and said,
let's stop doing this.
Like I feel like the focus is not on me
throughout this entire date.
Like I would prefer instead of using
these teddy bears as jousting weapons,
like let's actually just sit in a circle and talk.
Yeah.
You don't want to come off as it Claire though, you know.
I know, and she did feel that way.
She was like, I don't want to, you know,
I don't want to make it seem like a bigger deal than it is
and all that.
But I think she's the bachelorette.
She is well within her power to be like,
let's stop doing this and like let's sit and like just talk.
No, she really did not make a big deal out of it
And she could have
And then when she did bring it up
She was very clear
And totally told the guys how she felt
But that was like the winner of the teddy bear
Wrestling was
Casey Clayton Romeo
Olu Leroy and Nate
So they all got to stay for the rest of the date
So they're sitting later
She's like you know
I can tell you guys
The date was really hard
It opens up more about how like
With the poem she wrote last week
And it was hard dating
and she feels like she doesn't want to be felt left out,
especially in this kind of experience.
And the guys got emotional.
It got to a lot of them,
and they all individually got to speak to her and apologize
and say that, you know,
they really didn't realize what was going on
and they're so sorry.
Like, I think it was Clayton who was like,
yeah, you know, we're just kind of like hanging out
and didn't even kind of realize what was happening.
Let's just call it how it is, bad date.
almost or too good of a date
Yeah, right, right.
Bad date to have Michelle on.
Like if they wanted to just have the guys
hang out and get to know each other,
they should do this.
Right, it just feels like the boys are having
too much together.
Like they all like each other too much.
Big time.
Right.
I looked like a fun date.
I would like to go on that day.
They all like each other too much.
Olu's conversation
in the show was really great.
He's talking about he's like,
oh, I saw my sisters and the things that you were saying.
I came away from this episode,
a big Olu fan.
I like Olu's.
I like Olua lot too, and he made it very clear.
And, you know, he got emotional.
He's like, I have the, I have sisters.
I'm that male figure in their lives and breaks my heart to think of them in any situation like Michelle's speaking of.
So, you know, he was definitely tearing up and sharing those feelings with Michelle, which Michelle respected a lot.
He did get the group date rose, which I'm sure he was pumped about.
And to be able to like salvage that date.
was good for all of them.
It felt like those guys left feeling better than, you know, they started because the
vibes were very much off at the beginning.
Right, because you, to a degree, you get complacent maybe on a thing like this where
there are so many guys that you don't want to step on each other's toes and you're like
trying to pick the right moments.
And then you think, all right, I think I'm good.
Like, maybe I don't have to be as like outward and going up to Michelle.
But this was like, uh, they brought, she brought him back down to earth a little bit being
like nobody, a bigger.
theme later in the episode was like nobody has this in the bag like everyone needs to be trying
I know those dates kind of get chaotic because there's so many people involved but you still have to
make Michelle feel seen right and I don't know if it's like the teacher in Michelle or like the very
calming presence she has but it just feels like anytime there is any issue or drama or whatever
it's addressed it's fixed and like they move on you know like if that if Chris didn't bring up
the rest of what happened on that date at the cocktail party I don't think that's
they ever would have talked about it again.
Like it felt like it was resolved and they were moving on and she's done that with every other
issue that's been going on.
It was when you know Chris brought it up.
But there was another one-on-one date and that was with Rick.
Trent, have you been around our desk area lately?
Yeah, I have been.
Interesting.
Why?
Because we had a whole box of GNC peanut butter cups and they were all eaten.
And you look like the perfect.
I was not the person who did it, but I wish I had, because those sound great.
Yeah, sure. Okay. I didn't do it. No, no. Sure. Sure. I think it was you. And if it wasn't
Trent, it was somebody else in this office because they taste damn good. These peanut butter cups are the
perfect snack. They're filled with protein. They'll get you through the day. They'll get you through
your workout. They're a great snack to have. Like I said, we had a whole box of them on our desk,
completely gone. Everybody ate them. And I think Trent also was part of the problem. But he's not
could admit it because he's a shy little boy and a coward.
But anyways.
What?
Oh my God.
But anyways, that's at the point of this.
The point of this is to talk about the delicious snacks that GNC has right now.
You can go to the GNC store online or go to your local GNC wherever you live.
They have the most popular flavors and proteins and pre-workout.
And you can try them out yourself.
They have all delicious snacks.
They have the bars, the peanut butter cups, and many more options.
Like I said, I keep mentioning the peanut butter cups because this.
They are really that damn good.
And I know that a lot of people in this office enjoy them because they're always gone.
We get new packs.
Boom, they're gone the next day.
They're that good.
So right now, go to your local GNC store or go to GNC.com.
Explore all the best flavors of the season.
Get yourself through the day with these snacks.
Get yourself through the workout with GNC.
Not really, no, a wild activity on this date.
They basically took a gondola.
Is that what you call that?
I think.
I think you're right.
I just didn't know.
I didn't hear that word in a lot.
It's like not a ski lift, but kind of a ski lift.
Yeah, you go inside.
Yeah, a gondola.
They took a gondola up a mountain.
And because they were like, oh, you know, it's hot down here.
It's cool off up at the top of the top of the mountain.
They ride it all the way up.
And they're just kind of like on a nature walk.
I really like this date.
It was nice.
This seems like a normal date.
It was a normal date.
But this is the bachelette.
I know.
But they can't all be, you know, it can't be eating cotton candy at every day.
Yeah, I guess.
Like it can't be, there can't be a popcorn machine everywhere.
This day looked really nice.
You need some, not boring, but.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Real casual because not everything's going to be so exciting all the time.
Yeah.
Rick, it seems like a fitting date for Rick.
Yeah, definitely.
It was a sweet date.
They were walking.
They came, come across a wish box, something that I've never heard of.
And I think they just made this up and maybe fake wrote all these things.
I was going to say the same thing.
wish boxes are not a thing
I can't can't not that I go on a lot of hikes
but like
I mean and I will have
God knows
I will happily
say I'm wrong again
if this is the case
but not coming across a lot of just like
little wooden boxes where people write their wishes
and drop them in
and then you have to read someone else's wish
in order to put your wish in
I don't think that's a real thing
pretty incredible if they made that up
I don't think that's a real
it'd be pretty incredible if this is a very real thing
and we just don't go on hikes
and people who go on hikes are going to flood our DMs being like
this is a real thing
Wish boxes
Wish boxes
You don't like hiking
I don't dislike hiking but where do you hike around New York City
You gotta go yeah you gotta leave the city
Like if I lived in California I think I would hike
Do you ever just go for a walk in Central Park?
No but sometimes I'll just walk around my neighborhood
I do that on the long of all I'll say is I googled
Wishboxes on hikes and there is no
results. All it is is like boxes, like emergency boxes and things that you can like boxes you can
carry with you. Maybe it's an unspoken thing. It's like. Maybe it is. It's like fight club. Maybe it is
unspoken. Finding a leprechaun at the end of the rainbow. But they, but they, uh, excuse me. What? What do you
mean that's unspoken? I don't know. But yeah, you know, like you just have, you, you don't believe
even until you see it, but it's out there.
So you're saying you do believe there are leprechauns at the end
and the rainbow, we just don't see it.
Okay.
I've never seen one.
But they're there.
I've never gone to the end of a rainbow, though, so.
I like where your head's at.
I like that we got to a point where you had to say something like that.
And also where truly I think like you've rendered all three of us speechless.
Yeah.
I usually have something to say.
We have no comeback.
We have no.
tort, we just will accept that.
You stumped us. Well done.
That was really good. We will accept
and move on, wishbox.
So they're like, Michelle and Rick are taking
these wishes out of this box. They're reading them.
They're supposed to. I know, but it just feels also
like something you shouldn't be doing. Like, if I
was to create a wishbox. It's like the episode of Zoe 101
where they open up the time capsule before
they're supposed to. Yeah. But
according to wish boxes, which are
maybe a thing. According to the
rules of the wish box. Right. The rule is you have to
read them all before you put yours in.
Did they say read them all or to read one?
Good question.
Because I was thinking it would make sense if it was like a one for one kind of exchange,
but they were reading multiple.
Right.
And if there's so many in there, it becomes homework.
And then it also started to feel a little planted because like each one had to do with
love.
Yeah.
You know?
So it was like there's probably some people out there who have other wishes besides their
love life.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or like I wish I had a billion dollars.
Right.
Or there's also you're putting it in a public part.
There's one you're going to open and just going to.
That one was just so morbid.
No, I know.
And you just flew under the radar.
Nobody heard you said it.
What did you say?
I won't even repeat it.
I want other people in the podcast.
I was just like there could be,
my point was there could have been like dark wishes or bad.
Yeah.
Some people use wishes for good.
Some use it for evil.
Yeah.
That's true.
And the last one.
There's good and bad people out there.
The last one that they did have, you know,
really queued up Rick to be able to speak about his father's story.
So that's another reason why it's kind of like,
okay, feels like pretty.
might have had a hand in this one
because the last one was like,
I wish my dad got to see the man I've become.
It was the last wish that they read.
And Rick said, you know,
that one hits very close to home.
My father passed away a few years ago.
And they kind of go on the hike.
And then when they get to dinner,
he opens up more about this story,
which honestly, like,
I try and not cry during this show.
But this was a moment where you couldn't help
but get emotional.
He told this story of, you know, his parents were divorced,
but when he was younger, he was close to the holidays,
and he opened, his dad had gone out, or his, yes, his dad had gone out and he opened,
he left his phone and he saw his phone a message from another woman.
And he told his mother about the message and like two days later or whatever,
it was like, open the door, pack your stuff, your brothers at your grandmas were leaving.
Right.
And his parents split up.
and he said his dad was never really the same.
And before his death had been dealing with a lot of depression.
And he had sent him this cryptic text message.
And a friend had gone to check on his dad.
And his dad was dead on the ground, basically,
is what the story that he shared.
And that Rick had felt like his father had always blamed him for being like
the whistleblower of that situation that ended up breaking up which of course and like he said
I have obviously come to that realization that everyone is making their own choices it's not my
responsibility it's not my fault that these things happened um but that is really really sad and
really hard um I guess to like live with that kind of yeah it's a lot guilt right like it's it's not
his fault but for some time I'm sure
he did think like he said it was his fault
it's a lot to work through yeah it's
I'm always I commend all these guys
when they like as
Jamie had not a similar story but something
somewhat similar and like and now you got Rick like
these guys that come on these shows like they don't have to tell these
stories if they don't want to they I mean but they
really do open themselves up and they tell these stories
and they get emotional and Michelle gets emotional
and they're all very supportive of each other it's just I
you know if I ever went on a show like this I just don't know if
I would be able to do that.
Yeah, because I feel like a lot of the times, obviously, guys are just a bit more closed off with their emotions.
And when you finally get somebody to, like, really tell you something, it's like, whoa.
So to be on national television and to open up about these things is a lot.
Telling those things, I feel like is a sign that they actually like Michelle.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Yeah, definitely.
Definitely.
They want Michelle to know these stories.
They want Michelle to know.
And it also, I think, does show a lot of growth because, especially with parents and divorce and cheating, like,
Like that can be very traumatic.
And for Rick to be like open and honest and like trying to find love is commendable because you can probably be pretty cynical about love if you have those things happen in your life.
So I think Michelle really likes Rick.
She really loved that he opened up to her and they were able to have that conversation and he does get a rose.
And they were able to get up from dinner and go to a little Andy Grammer concert.
I don't know who that person is.
Yes, you do.
Yes, you do.
Nah, nah, honey, I'm good.
I remember, but I probably should not.
Remember when he was on Sunny with a chance?
If I can't, I'm not leave alone.
Nah, honey, I'm good.
That's Andy Grammar.
You don't.
Doesn't ring a bell.
You don't remember when he was on Sunny with a chance.
Yeah, I do.
Yeah, I do.
I know, wait, I like Andy Grammer.
The way I judge it, because usually I send out a tweet that says, like,
obscure singer-songwriter, or I look him up on Instagram, and he had 475,000.
He's not.
He's not.
No, he's not.
Mostly, usually they have like 15,000.
He has a lot.
Didn't they have another big one on this season?
This season?
Or either this season or, yeah.
They had Jake Owen a couple years ago.
That's the only one that I knew.
Oh, wasn't Kelsey?
She was not right?
Kelsey Bellarmine.
Someone that's been on her show, I think.
Was it Kelsey?
I thought so, maybe.
But I don't know.
Maybe not this season or last season.
You got to keep your head up.
Less familiar with that one.
And it's hard, but it's hot.
Yeah.
All Andy Grammar.
Good songs.
Yeah, the song that he played, I liked.
Yeah.
For being honest.
Andy, he also, I'm pretty sure, is a...
Hold on.
Hold on.
What were you thinking?
I thought maybe he had like a pretty...
I thought maybe he got a...
I was nominated for a Grammy.
Oh.
But I think that might just be because his last name is Grammer.
And it's...
it's just
yeah
you know kind of twisted in my head
but no yes
Andy grammar is great
definitely a well-known artist
and they were able to dance
and have a nice time
and all and all good day for Rick
I think I if I had to predict
I would think Rick is going to go farther
than Martin
I think so too
yeah right
yeah from those two dates I don't know
I just why do I think that
yeah I just just vibes
that's all feeling
yeah the way
they kiss.
Yeah.
That's how I pick up on it.
Yeah, there's something about that Martin date that just didn't sit well.
Yeah.
I mean, it was fine.
There was nothing really wrong with it.
No.
You didn't feel the same way.
I agree.
I didn't feel the same way that I felt at the end of the Rick date.
You just didn't seem like Michelle was looking at Martin, the way she looked was looking
at Rick, you know?
Agreed.
The cocktail party is where some of the drama picked back up.
We saw on the preview for this episode that Chris S was going to get involved.
This is where it happens.
I don't know what came over him,
but Michelle comes down the stairs for the cocktail party,
and he stands up, and he's like,
I heard about the date and that no one, and he was on the date.
He was like, a lot of these guys here think they're coasting,
and think they got it in the bag.
It's like, give this woman the attention she wants,
like addressing the whole group, and everyone's like,
what the fuck are you doing?
Very weird.
Very weird.
Calm down, little man.
Very weird.
Literally.
All right.
Very weird.
I don't mean to say that,
But it's, you know.
It was time.
It was time.
He didn't.
It was like, we were like, clink, clink, all right, you bastards.
He didn't even let Michelle speak.
Michelle walked up.
He cut off Michelle.
Right.
At that point you're just like, all right, man.
Like, just chill out.
Yeah, he turned around and he scolded everyone to the point where everyone was like, what's happening?
And then he referred to himself as the, you know, the white night.
He's coming in.
Like, give me a saver from the castle.
Whoa.
Yeah, like actually.
Like, yeah.
So, um,
And then it just honestly was very uncomfortable the entire rest of the cocktail party.
Brandon tried to pull Michelle away first after this burst from Chris S.
And Chris S was like, well, actually, like, I was going to take her first.
And that was uncomfortable.
And Michelle was like, well, yeah, Chris did just make that weird speech.
So I guess I'll ask about that.
The way that Chris and Michelle held hands walking up the stairs was so uncomfortable
because Michelle did not want to hold his hand at all.
No.
Oh, God.
he throws Nate under the bus
by basically saying that when Rick got the one-on-one
that Nate said that he was like not worried
like I'll get mine event like I'll get mine
like not worried about it
is that a bad thing to say?
I don't think so.
I don't really think that shows he's super cocky
or confident it's like
I think I have a strong relationship with Michelle
I have hope and like I'm confident
that I will get a 101 down the line.
Right.
And the way that Chris presented it was like that he was like firm and like, I'm definitely getting one.
I don't worry.
I'm not worried about anything.
I don't care about anything it's going on.
When in reality, it's what you're saying where he was like, no, I think Michelle and I think
are going pretty well between us and my one-on-one date will eventually come.
And like he should because Michelle literally said to his face on the group date, like, she pulled
him first to talk to him about what happened on the group date because she said like her feelings,
for him are already there and like established.
So she kind of almost expects.
more from him.
Right.
So Chris painted in the
incorrect and inaccurate way.
Chris.
And this was the best part of the episode.
He gets up.
Or like
the conversation dwindles.
He rats on Nate.
And he,
I watched it back.
He leans in for a kiss.
Did that actually happen?
Yes.
Yes.
And it was so uncomfortable.
As she stands up.
Right.
He does.
He does.
Yeah, he does this.
Like he comes in and she stands up.
And then she, and then he goes like this.
And then so like he like dips and then stands.
Yeah.
And then she's like, uh-uh.
And he kisses her on the cheek.
And she was like, oh my God.
It was so uncomfortable.
He was so in and he just like, Michelle's going to trust me and like I'm standing up for her.
All these guys.
And he leaned in for that kiss and it did not work.
It was quite a moment.
Rating on the other guys or other people in the house is never the way to get the
Bachelor or Bachelor out.
They will look at you as a friend immediately.
immediately your friend zoned.
Immediately your friend zoned.
Or what happens is it works in the short term.
And like maybe you get rid of a couple of the guys who you're worried about.
But then somewhere down the line, you start to get caught in your web of lies and then you're out.
That person never ends up with them.
Never.
Never.
So then Michelle goes to talk to date says what happened.
And, you know, they kind of talk it out and he leaves.
And then Nate obviously goes and confronts Chris.
Oh, just a hilarious camera in between the two of them.
Oh, my God.
Like, they're behind Chris, and Nate looks like he's nine feet tall.
He is a tall guy, and Chris is short, but it's just the way that it looked, the way they shot it, perfection.
And like, Nate was very calmly speaking to him.
And he was like, oh, just calm, dad, put your hands.
What are you going to put your hands on me?
And Nate was like, no.
Like, shut off.
Arguing with someone like Chris is the most infuriating thing when they just say like, whoa, whoa, calm down.
When you're very clearly just talking in a normal tone.
I didn't plan on telling her.
She probed me.
He said that so many times.
I was like, why?
Weird use of word.
Michelle, probed me.
She probed me.
He said it multiple times.
Right.
He's using the word probe, like interrogation.
She probed me.
And then Nate just was like, you're a fucking dweeb.
Oh, perfect word.
It kept calling him a dweeb.
And honestly, it was a great word.
Nate was like, I just can't wait for all the dweeb's to be gone.
Dweeb and loser hit so hard.
You call someone a loser?
it's that's it.
You know what it is
because it's come back around.
Like when you're a kid, you call somebody a loser
and it's like, all right, like you use it all the time.
And then you don't use it for a long time
because you learn curse words.
And then it comes back around and you drop a dweeb on somebody
and their day's over.
Their night has ended uproof.
This guy's just a dweeb.
You buffoon.
Yes, that's another good one.
And then like Olu and Chris got into this weird
like, he's like, you're going home.
He's like, yeah.
He's like, yeah.
And he's like, okay, cool.
Great. Like it was just a weird standoff. You know who Chris reminds me of? The bad guy in Billy Madison. Eric Gordon, I believe is his name. I totally see that. He's like a weasily kind of guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's who he reminds me. I totally see that. All the guys were just like confused. Like everyone just seemed to be like that was weird what Chris just did. Like that was just the vibe from everyone. And Chris made it weirdly personal with Olu. He kept talking like in the post interviews afterwards. He kept being like, when I get that rose.
I'm going to turn around.
I'm going to wink at Olu.
Be like, this is my rose.
I got it.
And it's like, what are you here for?
Yeah, he's got some kind of complex, it seems like, at this point.
Napoleon.
Yeah, it's just came up there to puff his chest and say,
oh, you guys are, you're coasting.
You're not fighting for Michelle.
I need Clayton to just pat him on the head.
Clayton compared to Chris is,
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Captain America to Ant Man.
Good comparison.
Thank you.
In the Rose ceremony, of course, because.
Michelle has very consistently got rid of the quote unquote bad guys
pretty rapidly.
There had to be one that was going to stick around a little bit longer.
So Chris did get the last rose.
This was going to happen.
Yeah.
Which meant that Romeo, Will, and Chris G.
were sent home.
I don't really have any feelings about any of them.
I actually started to like Chris G a little bit more.
Yeah, I did too.
He was more vocal in the house.
I just liked Chris G's reaction to that poet.
But that just really never got old.
I'll never forget that.
At least he got to see that.
That's true.
At least he got to meet his hero.
If they go on another poetry reading date, I'm going to be upset for Chris G.
Yeah, absolutely.
So those three went home.
And next week, they're going to Minnesota.
They're headed back to, I'm guessing, Minneapolis.
Yeah.
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This is where they're traveling.
I mean, I'm a Midwest guy, so I like to try to sell it.
But that one was like.
Well, like, she teated up.
She was like, I'm going to be leaving.
And you guys are all coming.
We're going.
I cannot wait to see Joe and Michelle in Minnesota together.
I mean, there's a 100% chance that Joe gets the 101 date in Minneapolis.
100%.
Has to be.
Has to be.
Oh, my God.
Like, they have to, like, go on a date that's like, here's all the things you would do on that.
She ends up with Joe.
I'm not ready to lock that in yet.
But they're going to go on a date.
After, after, I'm assuming they're going to have a date in Minneapolis.
us after that, I might be.
Michelle's going to be like, this is my favorite restaurant.
He's like, that's my favorite restaurant.
He's like, wow, I live right.
Oh my God, I live right there.
Oh my gosh, we have pictures together when we were kids.
Yeah, yeah.
It's like, oh my God, we've known each other forever.
Holy shit.
No, I understand what you're saying, Rhea.
I think Joe is the front runner, but there's, it could still go.
There's other people there.
Yeah, they're very clearly
production-wise, like editing-wise.
Joe has slow and steady.
It's like the silent assassin right now.
Yeah.
Like he's not, he's quiet.
He's not involved in any of the drama.
He's not like getting any,
having any of these big moments on these group dates or anything.
He's not even really getting like group day,
like he's, you know, kind of, but it's not a standout.
We all know what's going on.
Yeah.
Michelle knows what's going on.
Like, even if he's not getting these moments,
whether they're happening or not,
he's not going anywhere.
Yeah.
So that wraps it up.
And we will pick it up next week from Minnesota.

We are here with a very special guest.
actress Lucy Hale joining us.
Thanks for joining us.
Hi, I was like, Lucy back there, but I realize there's a key.
I'm like, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
If you have anything.
We have all our angles in here.
Anything pressing you need to say, look into that camera.
Got it.
I am ready.
Oh, we are so happy to have you here.
How are you doing?
What's going on?
How busy are you right now?
Thanks.
It's a busy week, but like I was telling you guys earlier, like, it's just so nice to be in the city and it feels like it's back.
When I got here, it was the day of the marathon.
And the marathon, I think the finish line was close to where my hotel was.
So I did walk four blocks with my bags.
But that being said, I still wasn't even mad about that because I was just so nice to see people in good spirits.
Oh, yeah.
So it's the best day in the city.
It's good.
Yeah.
Is it?
You don't do the marathon.
I don't want to get this conversation.
She's not a fan.
Wow.
Should we unpack this?
It's not that I want to diss the marathon because I think it's great.
Get out there.
Prove yourself.
Have you ever stood up?
on the rails on first app and cheered for people
and no. No. It's just the inconvenience. Yes.
And I also think of the Seinfeld episode, which
I love, the marathon episode of the Seinfeld episode is a good one.
But I'm just like, everyone's like, it's the best day in the city.
And I'm just like, but why?
You're like, yeah, it's the energy. It's the energy.
It's all these people, you know,
all the bars, everybody's celebrating.
Maybe it's because I'm jealous.
I know. I'm like, is it because? I will never run a marathon.
Because I had a little of that, too.
I was like, oh, look at all these really healthy runners.
But it is on my bucket list to run maybe a half marathon.
A marathon is kind of extreme.
I run away from people.
No, I like, I'm more like a soul cycle or that kind of vibe.
Peloton.
Peloton, yeah.
So one day.
Yeah, I can see me in the New York Marathon.
Yeah, and that will be the day I go.
Yeah, great.
Well, you heard of your first.
You're here first.
But you don't live in New York.
I live in L.A.
How much time do you get to spend in New York?
Not as much as I'd like to.
I lived here in, what is time?
It's hard to know what year.
I believe it's the end of 2020.
It is, you're correct.
In 2019, I lived in New York.
And other than that, it's touch and go.
And I was scared to live here because I'm such a, I'm from Tennessee originally,
but I'm such an L.A. girl.
Yeah.
I like my car.
and the sunshine and all of that.
So we do have some sunshine, but no cars.
Nobody's driving yourself.
But it was good for me.
It, like, toughened me up a little bit.
I liked it.
I loved living here, and I always love visiting.
So you said you're an L.A. girl, through and through?
Through and through.
What is it about L.A. that you really love, besides the sunshine and having your car.
Because people have mixed feelings, especially we're from New York.
We live in New York.
Yes.
It's a bad rap.
You know what?
Here's the thing.
So I moved there when I was 15, and it did take me a solid more than five years to find my
friends.
I think if you find your people in like your lane and you stick to that and you don't listen
to the nonsense because there is a lot of nonsense there.
I mean, that's why people move there because everyone wants their dreams to come true.
So it's a lot.
Like it's overwhelming.
I feel like I love L.A.
I mean, it sounds cliche.
The weather is like top notch.
Yeah.
But there's always something to do.
You can go to the beach.
There's the mountains.
can always hike. There's dog parks,
which they're also in New York.
Yeah, yeah, you're like, yeah, you're naming.
They're a little dirtier in New York. But I think
there's a more concrete. Your dog parks in
a disease at the dog park in New York.
True. I did. I had to get my dog
an extra vaccine. Oh, yeah. When we were
in New York. The one time my dog went to dog
park, he got sick. Oh, no.
No, it's all right. Be careful.
Yeah. I don't know. What else
is it about L.A.? I do love the
like all the crazies
out there. Like, you never know what you're
going to get. I, that's true. I, a lovely
the access to all my woo-woo things and by woo-woo I mean like my crystal shops and rakey and
any kind of health food store I just any kind of fitness I feel like LA is the place where all
the pop-ups go to see if it's going to work and most of the time it doesn't but I just you can try it
you can try it yeah but I think mainly it's just like I found my my people there and like my friends
sort of became my family because I was the lone ranger out in right out in L.A.
Yeah. I feel like moving there at a young age.
it's like everything comes at you fast.
It's totally different.
Going to L.A. at 15, I feel like is so different than going to L.A. at 25.
And also I feel like at 15, you also have like the people also trying to do what you're doing,
like young actresses and then you get like their parents involved.
And it's like, oh.
Yeah.
It's the real deal.
Yeah.
I mean, what was so great about my situation is that my mom was out there with me until I was 18.
But we didn't really know what we were getting into.
We're just like, well, yeah, let's just move to L.A.
And you're going to become an actress.
Right.
Little did we know there's thousands, thousands of other girls who look similar to me, who
want the same thing.
But I think it was like that really naive mindset that, like, ignorance is bliss.
I just didn't know.
And social media wasn't around at that time.
So I didn't know all the things that were happening around me.
And it was just, I just got to audition.
And I had a mom who believed in me and thank God she wasn't.
crazy because we lived in an apartment complex where a lot of actors and their parents stayed.
I can't say the name, but it was like a real thing.
Like all the moms would get in the hot tub at night and drink wine and talk about the other
kids.
Like trash talk other kids.
It was just, that was a show within itself.
I was going to say that's a reality show on its own right there.
It's crazy that they really, kind of like dance moms.
I was going to say dance moms.
It's very real.
I love dance moms.
You know what I feel about that.
show but I can't even and they were crazy I can't even imagine like just real deal stage parents
whose kids are taking to auditions and they're like at the auditions whispering about the kids in
front of them it's a crazy world weird it's like total projecting what they couldn't accomplish
not everyone there are the exceptions but it's weird yeah and social media not you know
it plays such a big role you mentioned you know the crystals and the health and the and the
exercise classes. I'm all in on crystal, so I'm not going to judge any part of that. I'm completely
sold. My whole bag, I went out the other night. The bouncer looked through my thing. He was like,
oh, you just have rocks. Yeah, that's all you got in here. He just got a bunch of rocks.
It's a bunch of pretty rocks in there. But are you like a health nut or will you venture out
into like fast food? What's it like over there for you? I feel like it's more like day to day
I try to be healthy. I mean, my downfall is coffee and sugar.
But I am a true foodie.
Like if I'm in New York or if I'm in a city,
I want to go to, I want to taste the food.
I want to taste the city in the food.
Like, I'm going, I haven't been to Carbone before
and I'm going there for the first time.
I feel like I would be excited.
I'm so jealous.
Like, and I want, you got to experience life.
And I'm sorry, I experience life through taste.
I really do.
So, you know, I don't deprive myself.
Yeah.
I mean, you enjoy that ricotone.
Yeah, I was going to say, enjoy that spicy.
Is that what it is, that spicy.
That's spicy.
Oh,
Get Tony Baca.
Ooh, and they give you, like, all this free bread in the beginning.
Correct.
Oh, my gosh.
All of it.
Have you good?
Yeah.
When did you go?
I went last year with Margaret.
Oh, you're right.
Wow.
I mean, I'm like, when was that?
And why?
You're not invited.
No, no.
Like, it's impossible to get reservations last minute.
So my friend and I came across a reservation at like four o'clock on a Tuesday.
We're like, whatever.
Let's just go.
It doesn't matter.
Let's just go.
We need to experience it.
It's really.
good. Oh, man. That is
awesome. Yeah, Levine Bakery also
happening. Yep. Yep. Yeah. Great. You've got
to do. You have to do it all.
You have to do it. Especially in New York, I do agree that you have to
there's so many, the food, the restaurants
are all incredible. So that's
really great. But we are so excited to have you
because you have a brand new show coming out.
Ragdoll is on AMC Plus.
It is
freaky.
We haven't seen yet, but
the trailer gave me some
some goosebumps.
How would you describe this new show?
Yeah, it's a weird show.
It's weird.
It's gruesome.
I almost feel like it may need a disclaimer before it a little bit because it's, we just
like right from the beginning, like you know exactly what the show is and the rag doll is,
can I say this?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was like, the rag doll is six body parts from six different people sewn together into
the shape of this like really theatrical-looking human that's strung from the ceiling.
And so these three detectives, including myself, get assigned to the kids.
case. I'm new to the UK. Clearly, I've never seen anything like this before. And the show is about
finding who the rag doll killer is. And there's a kill list. There's six people on the list.
Six episodes. But it's really, that being said, it is gruesome, it is dark, but there is this
really wonderful dark humor intertwined throughout it all. So it's kind of blends genres before,
which I think is a unique, excuse me, a unique take on a show like this because there are a lot of them out
there. Is it, is it British or is it, it's like, you're in the UK is where it's taking place.
It's in the UK, but I'm the only American. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Well, then that makes more sense.
I feel like dark humor wise. They do it right. Yeah. Did you shoot it in the UK?
Yes. I was there for four months in London. When did I get back a couple months ago?
Awesome. How did you like London? I loved it. Much like New York. It's kind of like center of the
universe-ish and so many cultures. Great food. The
Best Indian food I've ever had in my life is in London.
Oh, really?
Yeah, great shopping.
The adjustment, obviously, for me, was the lack of vitamin D and sunshine.
But I got the true London experience.
Yeah, it was a great time.
Did you always want to do a thriller?
What attracted you to this show?
So I've done a couple of horror movies, and Pretty Little Liars was, skews very young, but still they were sleuthy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
that whole vibe.
But I knew after the last show I did, it was called Katie Keene.
I was like, I think I'm going to have to hang up my high heels for a bit, literally,
and just really think about what I want to do next.
And so I didn't know exactly what it would be, but I got sent the script.
And I was like, this is it.
Like, it has to be this.
And I loved the character.
I loved the writing.
I didn't know my next job would be quite this drastically different.
Right.
But it's such a nice departure for me.
just as an actress because
I was desperate to like
I creatively like I needed something
different and I was like if
that means I have to wait years I'll do that but luckily
I well we all had to like sit around and wait for a little bit
with our jobs but after that I got to
it was one of my first jobs back
was there a lot that came across your desk that you were like nope
not doing this one yeah I mean and it's
it's always nice right
it's flattering that people would ever want you to be a part
of it but
it's hard to not pigeonhole yourself into a certain lane.
I mean, some people want to do that, and that's cool.
But just for me as a human, even if I weren't an actor, like, I always got to be doing something different.
I have the attention span of, like, a small child.
And, yeah, and I thrive off of that, meeting new people.
Like, my job is great.
I get to meet new people and travel to different cities and play new characters.
And that keeps me really excited at all times.
How do you know when to say,
know to a script that comes across
your desk. I know within about three
pages. It's the writing.
It's the writing. I'm like, oh my
God, not, nope, we're not doing this.
I feel like that is also the time for the
audience when you're watching a new series
it's that first five minutes
and if you're not pulled in, you're like
I'm probably going to turn it off. You need
to have like that. You need to have something
and it doesn't always have to be as drastic as a
dead body. Right, right, right. Six pieces of a
human put together. But the writing, I can
tell by the way it's written
usually maybe even within the first couple of paragraphs,
if it's something I want to pursue.
But you also have to keep, like, genre in mind.
Like, a rom-com is going to be written differently
than, like, a show like Ragdoll.
So you have to sort of keep that in mind as well.
Because this could not be more different than, you know,
Hating Game is coming out at the end of the year,
which I am so excited for.
Are you?
This is one of my favorite books.
You're kidding.
And I, when it was announced that you were going to be in this movie years ago,
I was pumped.
And I will say like, probably over the last three years, I've continually checked the IMDB being like, when is this movie going to be made?
Well, that's how I felt too.
I was like, I know.
I was like so excited.
And then even more excited because Austin Stoll got connected with you on this movie as well.
He was one of our first guests ever.
No, literally our first guest.
Are you freaking kidding?
The office ever like in 2017.
Oh my God.
He's, okay.
So I'll give you this story.
Yeah.
I'll try to even long story short.
So first of all, that's.
amazing.
Yeah.
And I love the book too.
And yeah, I was attached to it for many years, like three, I want to say three years.
And then COVID hit, obviously.
And Hating Game was my first thing back.
And there's a couple recasting things.
And I was like, you know, it would be so perfect for this is Austin.
Because Austin and I did Fantasy Island together.
So I knew that I was excited to work with someone I knew because the only thing that's
going to sell a movie like the hating game is.
the chemistry between the two characters.
Like the whole movie is this like sexual attention the whole time.
And I just knew Austin and I could pull that off because anyway, he's a great guy.
But he was like perfect for the role.
We had so much fun.
We just dropped the trailer.
Have he seen a trailer?
Believe me.
I watched it.
She's very excited about it.
Yeah.
I mean, it's, I really hope I'm always like sensitive to fans of books that are really
popular that we do at justice.
And so we tried to keep little.
details like the red lipstick and her red heels and the height difference and she's smirfs all over
her apartment so like little details from the book we tried to really honor that and i mean you guys
have the same name so that's pretty easy lucy hudden yeah both feisty and small so cool yeah
yeah no definitely i think it was and i will say from just like fan perspective i think people
are going to be really excited because i know like i've posted about the book um before i post
what I read on my Instagram and yeah and so I do remember it always makes me feel bad about
myself and I do remember posting the book and having so many people in in my messages being like
oh my God you know that Lucy Hale's gonna be in this movie like so excited so I know that everybody's
really pumped and like you said if you haven't watched the trailer it is out you can watch it's
out and it'll the movies comes out like right before Christmas I think December 10th um
December 10th uh in select theaters and on demand and
And then I think depending on the country, it'll be on different.
Love it.
Oh, gosh, I can't wait.
That's going to be, I haven't gone to, like, the movies for a good rom-com in a long time because
I just feel like.
We should go for this one.
Well, because I feel like they've been bringing the movies back slowly, of course, but
the big budget action movies are like, it feels like those are the ones that all are
in theaters because it's limited.
They're opening certain amounts and not enough people.
And you can watch it at home, like streaming.
Yeah, exactly.
People realize, oh, we don't have to leave the comfort of our couch, but, like, I'm so traditional in that way.
Like, I love popcorn and a movie, and I love the smaller, but, like, Hating Game, we made that on a small budget.
And I think it's, like, important to support those movies, too, to show that they can be made and do well.
And, like, of course, they're not going to top Dune.
Like, the Hating Game's not going to be up there with Dune.
Yeah, yeah.
Coming for you, June.
But I think it's important.
Right. Hitting Game isn't in my I match.
Yeah, exactly.
3D.
Can you imagine?
Ooh, yeah, actually might be more thrilling.
But I think it's, I love doing independent films and so I therefore think it's important to support them as well.
And I think everyone should get out to the movies.
I think like, that you said is important that everyone's like, oh, wait, we could just watch it from our home.
But there's just something different about going, getting, recliner.
They got the recliner scene.
No.
Run to the movie theater.
Don't run a marathon to make me feel worse about myself.
No, but they got the recliner seats everywhere.
No.
It's all the experience.
What's your go-to movie snack?
Combo.
Yeah.
I love like, like, without shame, love, like, the biggest Diet Coke.
Big size.
The bucket.
And popcorn and Eminemes mixed together is what my mom and I have always done.
And so that, oh.
Any sort of popcorn and chocolate together.
Any.
I do snow caps.
It's just right.
It's the right thing.
But they now have those soda machines where you can choose any combination of flavor
possible. That's always really fun to try a new
I feel like the movies
is the only place I get like cherry coke.
When I'm at the movies I'm like you know what
I'm going to treat myself a little cherry
Coke instead of regular. But then you can like at the
end add cherry vanilla almond
almond coat. I don't, there's too many
options. Right, you didn't even know all these things
existed. The whole amusement part of the movies
Oh man but you have been a part of
so many great shows that we have watched
you know pretty little hours of course we watch
and now they're doing like not necessarily
I feel like a reboot, but what are your thoughts on pretty little ladders kind of coming back?
I want to say it's definitely not a reboot.
Yeah.
Because from my, actually, I don't know.
I don't know.
I do have a friend who is one of the girls, and they obviously can't, her name's Bailey Madison, and I love her so much.
Oh, she's going to be amazing.
Yeah, she's so cute.
Yeah.
She's so cute.
She's like my little sister.
From my understanding, it's a similar story.
different, obviously different characters
from my understanding,
no one from the original is involved,
but that it's a lot,
a lot darker.
Right, that's what I've read too
because I believe I'm going to butcher his name,
but the creator of Riverdale.
Roberto.
Yeah, and he's involved with it.
Yes.
And his stuff is always a little dark.
Like Sabrina was very dark.
Yeah. Yeah.
And so I feel like that's kind of like
how Gossip Girl, it wasn't a reboot,
but it's just like back.
Right. A re...
Yeah.
Well, I feel like
revamp?
What would it be a re-
revamp makes it sound like it's getting better.
Yeah, yeah.
And that's like, right?
It's like, well, the original was great.
I mean, I hope they succeed, but
so I'm like, it could be a revamp.
I don't know.
You can't touch the original.
A retelling?
Right.
I don't know.
Whatever.
It's, I'm curious.
Like, I think everyone is,
I think a lot of people that are going to watch it
may not even be familiar with the original.
So it could be a whole new experience for young girls and
and boys and men and women.
Yeah.
But I'm equally as curious to see what they do.
Now, what is, do you have anything going on with music right now?
Not right now.
Yeah.
People always ask me that.
There was a time in my life where I was writing and recording and toured.
But I feel like if I were to ever do music again, it would be through acting or through, I'm dying to do a musical.
I'm dying to do like a live action musical.
Would you do Broadway?
I would do Broadway, although I don't know if my first.
personality is like built for Broadway because I get very that's why acting is so great for me because
you can do it over and over again. I'm like okay I think I can live with myself if that's the take
we use whereas Broadway it's like you just lay it out there which is probably more reason why I should
do it because it's more freeing. I just I'm not theatrically trained and I didn't come from that
world but I do appreciate it yeah and now they do so many so many live action music on
and Fox and everything so yeah right right right right everything so yeah um yeah
Yeah, that would be really cool.
Is there a dream musical that you want to do?
Like a dream part?
Because Ariano Grande just got Cass as Glinda and Wicked.
Oh, I know.
I am.
I'm like, she was made for that role.
Oh, yeah.
I was made for that role.
I'm so excited.
A dream musical.
I mean, Greece was the movie, the first movie I remember watching over and over again.
And I was like, oh, this is like, these people do this for a living.
Like that was the first time it kind of clicked in my head.
That would be fun.
That would be fun.
I mean, what else?
Waitress is great.
Yeah, yeah.
But like, I saw the girl who originated the role.
What's her name?
She won the Tony for it.
She was so good.
She's the one from younger?
No.
No, no, no.
Well, she's wonderful.
And I'm, her name is Blame.
Blanking me.
Blanking me?
Blanking me.
Her name is blanking me.
It's like, oh, it's on the tip of my tongue.
It's like I can't type with these nails.
Yeah, they're so hard.
It's really hard.
Yeah, no, I know.
I really got to get rid of them.
Jesse Mueller.
That's her.
She was incredible.
Jesse Mueller, that's her name.
Yes.
Waitress is awesome.
Waitress is great.
That would be a choice.
But I feel like it's so risky to
take over a role that's so
loved by many, unless you're Ariana Grande, like,
she can do no wrong, of course, like,
she can't be let down. It definitely has a different feel of when it's
like actually on Broadway and then maybe like a one night only.
Exactly. Like at the Hollywood Bowl. Right. Right. Exactly.
So I feel like if I were to do it, it would have to be a new
for sure. A new thing. Well, that would be amazing. We would love that.
You have an amazing voice. Thank you. You're a great singer.
Thank you.
You know, what's one that we all watch all the time?
Oh, another Cinderella story.
Oh, yeah, I was going to say another Cinderella's door.
Oh, my big breakout moment.
I was like, I was going to bring it up, but do I not bring it out?
My best acting skills ever.
We have a phenomenal skill of bringing these unbelievably talented actors and actresses into our students.
And naming their...
We love the worst, you know, the quote-unquote.
There's not our eyes.
It's one of the best.
I feel like there's a few things I've taken off my IMDB that, like,
Like, you should never be seen.
But, like, hey, the journey.
Like, you got to agree.
But you also have the people that like it.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
That does that say about you guys?
Exactly.
Very true.
But that's sweet.
No, we have the hearts of 13-year-olds.
A Cinderella story is fun.
Totally fun.
And the music was great.
And that was actually what led to my record deal was that.
But, like, nothing compares to the Hillary Duff Cinderella story.
I can't beat the OD.
But it's, you know.
What is the line about?
Well, they made five different.
Like rain in the desert.
Or whatever.
Waiting for you is like waiting for rain.
Rain in this drought.
In the drought.
Useless.
Are we useless and disappointed?
Yes.
Yes.
I mean, you can't beat that.
No, you really can't.
I love Hill.
I love Hill.
And so, yeah.
Chad Michael Murray.
Yeah.
Okay.
Look at that range.
Now you're doing Ragdoll.
We're just probably going to scare the shit out of all of us and we're going to be happy
to watch it.
Six episodes is the perfect length for a show like this.
We're so excited to watch.
Everybody can watch November 11th AMC Plus Ragdoll will be released.
Thank you so much.
Thank you guys.
Thank you for coming.
Thank you so much.
