Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners. You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Rianne, giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday. Hey, get all the shots in, Noah, get all the shots in. If you are not watching the podcast on YouTube, get to it.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Although I understand that some people like to listen to their podcast on their way to work. They can't watch on YouTube. All very understandable. But make sure you go to the Chicks of the Office of YouTube and hit subscribe. And podcast comes out first. Podcast comes out first. I understand if people are like that, you know. We're working on it.
Starting point is 00:00:53 We're working on it. Hey, maybe if people show that there's like a real demand, we put it out like way earlier. Like that's what I'm saying. That's in it. Yeah. Or if it just came out earlier, people will watch it on YouTube. That's another thing. If it just came out at the same time.
Starting point is 00:01:07 If they had bold options at 8 a.m. But that's. That's besides the point. Whatever way you watch or listen. Yeah, we appreciate it anyway. Like we said, we love you guys. Wouldn't have the neon sound without you. So we love you.
Starting point is 00:01:21 It's the middle of the week, Fran. How are you feeling? Is the middle of the week going into Memorial Day weekend? Always like a really long week that should be a short week. I keep thinking today's Wednesday. Well, if you're listening, it is Wednesday. But, you know, I keep thinking I'm a day behind. I'm like, ah, almost there, but not, not quite.
Starting point is 00:01:44 But it's a nice week. I love Memorial Day weekend, start a summer. Joe and I's anniversary is around this time. Happy times. That's so sweet. How, what are you good, any big plans for the weekend? We spent so much money moving that like we actually had a sit down, not a sit down, but I was leaving my apartment.
Starting point is 00:02:07 And he was like, by the way, like, let's one let's make a reservation too like i don't have anything for you and i was like i don't have anything for you either great let's leave it that way because we have poured so much money into furniture and art things for the apartment that i'm like let's just maybe like i'll buy you a piece of art and you'll buy me a piece of art and they'll both go up in our apartment killed two bears of one stone can i tell you once you move in together gifts kind of fly out the window because obviously the gifts still happen but it's almost you feel way
Starting point is 00:02:42 there's no like rush to have it right on the day you feel way more lenient about it it's way more relaxed if it comes in two weeks it's okay and you're like oh it's coming oh I ordered it no you didn't you're just telling them you ordered it or you order something for them that you could use yourself like one time I got Hank a griddle
Starting point is 00:02:58 I don't know why but I just wanted a griddle so we ended up having a griddle and that was great so then everybody gets a gift What a stupid gift, a griddle. There was obviously other things involved, but I just threw the griddle in there because I've done that before. Then I get bacon and eggs and pancakes.
Starting point is 00:03:16 You know what I'm saying? 100% I've also done that before. But it's just, like I said, we're going into the summer. It just feels like alive, watching the sports, like arenas be full, the playoffs, you know? Sports.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Yeah, like playoffs. I love this time, hockey playoffs, basketball playoffs, like seeing, just walking down the street in New York and seeing like all the people going to the Knicks game. They're all so hyped. Everybody's excited. Just good energy in the air.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Yeah, definitely. I had, I spent some days on Long Island this past weekend because I feel like I have neglected my family a bit in the past year, which is besides the point, you know, love them, whatever. We don't need to unpack that. No, we don't need to unpack that. But I love and appreciate my family very much. But I have been, I stayed there this weekend. And my dad was like, I've got to get the pool going.
Starting point is 00:04:04 No, it's open. It's all. The pool's going. Trust me. But my dad was like, you know, you really got to start talking about the Islanders again. I was like, what are you talking about? He's like, you know, I'm really disappointed. I go on Twitter and I think, oh, maybe I'll see one tweet from you about the Islanders.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Nothing. I'm like, he's like, do you need me to tweet for you? I said, no. Get back into the ring here. Are you investing in that? Like, are you watching the games? Yeah, I mean, I watch and I pay attention, but it's not really my brand. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:30 You know? And it doesn't have to be, but I just feel like if I were to start tweeting about the Islanders, people would be like, shut up, Maria. Yeah, but if you want to tweet about the Islanders, tweet about the Islanders. Sometimes I throw out like a rogue hockey tweet and I don't even care, but I watch the NHL
Starting point is 00:04:47 and the playoffs only. Right, but true, I guess hockey's not really. Hockey's not my, I don't even know all the rules. And I'm still like, why, I don't, if there's a moment that's like crazy, it's like, whoa. Yeah, yeah, throw it out there. Yeah. Maybe I will, too, you know, make my dad happy.
Starting point is 00:04:59 You still tweet about the Mets. I used to tweet about the Mets a lot. Well, I was a really, I really was a, huge Mets fan before I worked at Barstool. I'm still a Mets fan, Islanders fan, whatever, but this is going to sound so strange and so backwards. But when I started working at Barstool, I started caring about sports less. It makes zero sense. But it was also because like, everybody cares so much. Everyone here is so passionate about it that I didn't feel like I, like, knew as much as I thought I did or it's kind of like too close to home. Yeah, I understand.
Starting point is 00:05:35 You start meeting the athletes. You start meeting these people. And then it kind of just, you're like, oh. And I kind of like lost my passion for it. So it's backwards. It is. But yes, I used to tweet about the Mets a lot. And I went through a very short stage where I thought I liked that was just, I was being thawty.
Starting point is 00:05:55 You know, when I was like, oh, I like the Rangers. Yeah, yeah. That wasn't real. Islanders fan since I was younger. We can just move past that. Yeah. That was more players than teams.
Starting point is 00:06:07 We just started caring about players. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But we're past that stage. Anyways, I think that more on, more on checking the office brand. You're right? I'm good.
Starting point is 00:06:20 There was a moment sitting at our desk before that she like crumpled up her the wrapping that her lunch was in and had a highlighter and was just like one hand, like her face and her face in her hand and was just slowly doodling, like, drop. I was trying smiley faces.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Like all over the wrapper. And I was eating my sandwich. And I looked over and I thought about saying something. And I was like, I'm just going to leave her alone. I went and took a bite of my sandwich. And you looked at me and you were like, what? What do you want to say? You made such an obvious face that you were concerned.
Starting point is 00:06:57 And I was like, what, Fran? Going through something here. In my head, I was like, do I ask if she's good or do I just keep eating my sandwich and bring it up later? Honestly, I'm good. I just got a lot on the brain. But I feel like, I feel good. Whenever I'm in here with you, babes, I feel great.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Love it. So I want to talk about something that's more on brand for chicks in the office and not about sports. I think we may have started a war. Yeah, no way. I think. I don't even think we did start a war. Yeah, we kind of did. I don't know what.
Starting point is 00:07:28 So we had Kelly Flanagan on our podcast and love her. She's so sweet. and I will give her a lot of credit because a lot of times we have Bachelor guests on and we ask them these questions which aren't like crazy like spill that you know we ask them fairly like hey what happened with this questions
Starting point is 00:07:48 and sometimes most of the time we kind of get like vague answers or oh you know you know we're going to leave it but you're not talking about Kelly told like Kelly talked she had a lot to say she wanted to talk to us she gave us the truth she told her side of the story and we had a great time talking to her and I guess Peter has gotten wind of what Kelly had said
Starting point is 00:08:09 and there's articles written about it and so Peter has been promoting big time on the Bachelor in the Bachelors in the City podcast that he will be telling his side of the story on their episode that comes out today, Wednesday. So Kelly's came on our show. She said what she said. Peter, we don't know what he said yet.
Starting point is 00:08:30 We haven't listened. We got to hear what he. says, Kelly said, depending on what Peter says, maybe Kelly will come back on and have a rebuttal and the show must go on. I don't know. It's just going to, could go back and forth forever. We could go back and forth.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I did. Kelly might become our third chick in the office. I texted Kelly and I said, hey, you just say the word and come back on and it's definitely up in the air for right now because we're going to see what Peter says. But I want to be... I want to be 100% honest right now, okay? Now this, I want to take out the very respectful actors and actresses that come on the show.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Like today, we have Olivia Holt, who is wonderful. And we love her so much and love talking about her show because we're a big fan of it. I want to exclude these people from the conversation from what I'm about to bring up. More guests, and I'm talking reality TV show guests and other people in that area, need to be like Kelly Flanagan. They need to be like Kelly Flanagan. You know who's good, Tori from the challenge? She came on and she kind of started. a war. Remember when she did that? Oh yeah. Melissa Gorga's always been good too. Melissa Gorga.
Starting point is 00:09:36 But some people, they come on and they talk and you get, and we very, I appreciate them coming on. I'm not saying that. But you are expecting a little bit of something, right? You're like, well, we want to actually talk. We want to have a conversation. We want other people want to know what's going on. And I think in the reality world, when your life is so out there, it feels like, of course you want to keep things some private. But at the end of the day, so much is out there already. let's let's dive in a little bit yeah yeah it's more guests should be like kelly flanagan is what i'm saying yeah straight up that's my thoughts on it more guests should but that but that's that's coming from a selfish place of course it is what do you mean of course it's it's it's coming from a self it's not even just a for the fans it's good no that's what it is the listeners really enjoy when people are so real and honest on a podcast because they are so used to hearing people bullshit, bullshit, bullshit all the time that when somebody comes on like Kelly, who is so real,
Starting point is 00:10:39 they're like, wow, I really appreciate that. And that guest comes, then people love them even more. People already like Kelly. But then they're like, oh, my God, she's a real human being. I love her even more. And she wasn't mean. No, just talk. Like, it's like, the way Peter's framing it is like, oh, like, I'm telling my,
Starting point is 00:10:55 there's a, like, they posted this graphic that was like, there's always two. the story Peter tells his tomorrow. Like it's like so, it's funny because, and he has every right to do this. Yeah, no, he can do that all he wants. It's like, it's kind of what we're talking about, right? You want your listeners to hear facts and true stories and whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:15 So like, now he's just using his podcast to be like, well, now I'm going to share. But I didn't, I thought Kelly was still very respectful talking about him. So we'll see. what exactly Peter has to say and if Kelly is going to need to come back on. For selfish reasons, I am also interested about hearing what Peter has to say so that Kelly does come back on. And I think everybody's rooting for that. And obviously, it's a real life relationship. And we all know that. But I think if Peter's going to talk about things, then Kelly's going to want to clear up what he says and then it's going to go back and forth. And then Peter's going to be like, well, I want to clear up what Kelly said again.
Starting point is 00:11:56 So we shall see where this is all going to go. But we have a great episode like usual. We're talking about Scott Dissig's birthday party that seemed like an absolute banger of a party and diamonds everywhere. Timothy Chalamee will be playing the next Willie Wonka and Justin Bieber has officially shaved his head. We also got Game 8 of Beat Rea and Fran trivia. We got another couple this time around. And we have an awesome interview with Olivia Holt, who plays Kate in Cruel Summer. She's been on the show before when she was on cloak and dagger, and we talked about that.
Starting point is 00:12:31 And she is just such a lovely person, phenomenal actress. Great interview. And especially if you're into Cruel Summer, then you'll love that. So let's get into it starting off with Scott DeSix birthday. So we've been talking about Embark for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to find out traits about Norman. You know, your mom did it for your dogs. Loved it.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Loved it. And I really think it's great because with the Embark DNA and Health Kit, you can find out their breed. You can find out health issues. And you can even find out relatives, which was the most exciting feature for me. I got the results back. Norman's a 100% dachshund. But all of these relatives of his started popping up. He's got aunts.
Starting point is 00:13:11 He's got uncles. I'm just like, oh, my God. There's a family tree. And they say, like, you know, 30% of the DNA that's shared is, like, equivalent to, like, your DNA with, like, your aunt or an uncle or whatever it is. So I thought that was pretty fascinating. You know, you find out the, if they have. like a trait for certain diseases unfortunately norman does but i think a lot of doxins do with the
Starting point is 00:13:34 the back yeah yeah it's a long name yeah but i don't know what you're talking about but yes it's what i think all the dogs that have long bodies and little legs have that trait so unfortunately but we're going to make sure norm's not jumping around like crazy we're going to protect his back but i am so thankful that i did this and i love this idea and i really think it's a fun thing for everybody should they should try it out so if you want to try this out you can go to embark very at dot com. Use our promo code chicks and you will get $50 off your embark kit. That's a steal in my opinion because usually it's $1.99 but instead you're getting it for $1.49 and you will find out all of these great things about your dog. Like I said, the breed, the traits, the health concerns,
Starting point is 00:14:18 the relatives, so many different things that you can find out when you get your results back. And it's really, really simple too. You just get a little kit, swab the mouth. You know, like if you've ever done one of those as a huge. human. You know, you just like put a little spit, swab the mouth, put in a little container, shake it up, mail it right back. It's as simple as that. Took me five minutes to do. So go to embark vet.com, use promo code chicks and you will get $50 off. And it's just, it's a fun thing to figure out all of the traits about your pup. So go do it. Scott Dissick had a big birthday party this past weekend. His new girlfriend, Amelia, got him a brand new Harley. And they were handing out party favors that
Starting point is 00:14:58 included Rolex watches. And if you didn't get a Rolex watch, well, don't worry, sweetheart, you got diamonds on your way out. I would like a full list of every guest that attended. Like, I need to know were there 30 people there, 50 people there, 75 people there. Like, how much jewelry are we talking that everybody was able to walk home? So they had this Rolex. So the Lux VVS jewelers, I guess, is the company that provided all of the watches and jewelry and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:15:35 And they told E that they got over half a million dollars in jewels between our chains, watches, and bracelets. I think that means in total. Like I think that means they provided provided the party with over half a million dollars of jewels, which they then did. out to their guests, Rolex watches. Like you said, diamond jewelry. And the whole thing was, I guess, plane themed?
Starting point is 00:16:06 I don't know. Aviation. Dissic Aviation. Private aviation is my motivation. Very funny because Scott, guy loves to fly private. I think it's a good theme. Yeah. And maybe he's looking to invest in his own plane.
Starting point is 00:16:21 I think he's looking to invest in a lot of things. Yeah. I'm not shocked that Scott to Sik has so much money, but I'm always like, how? Is it all the giveaways he's doing on his Instagram? Like, where is all the money coming from? Maybe it's the Kardashians, not them specifically, but being on the show. Also, good news, he will be on the Hulu reality TV series for the Kardashians. I know a lot of people were worried that we weren't going to get as much Scott, but he will be in that show.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Courtney was at the party, which is nice to see because, of course, course we've heard rumors that Scott can't even be around Courtney because she's so in love with Travis and it's really hard for him to see her in love with somebody else. But also it's like, well, Scott, you were dating Sophia Richie for years and now you got Amelia Gray. Like, are you not in love? Yeah. Yeah. And Amelia got like he said, bought him a Harley. He's got a motorcycle. They're posting on each other's, you know, Instagram stories. I kind of felt, I have felt like recently Scott and Amelia have been a little bit more
Starting point is 00:17:24 PDA than Scott and Sophia ever really were. I don't know if that means maybe this is more serious or let I really don't know but I have what are you thinking of what do you think of Scott's like whole look these days? Because I'm just like seeing pictures of him of from the party
Starting point is 00:17:42 and his outfit and like the hair. I'm worried about Scott to six straight up. I'm worried about Scott Dissick and where he's headed in his life. I don't I don't like the look I'm really, I'm not a fan. I don't love the look. I don't know who he's trying to be. I feel like if I were to run into Scott Dysick, he'd be a huge douchebag.
Starting point is 00:17:59 And that's not what I used to think about Scott Dissick. Yeah, he's got a frosted tip, like, mohawk right now. It seems like he would be a huge douchebag. And I love Scott Dysk, so it's, yeah, I, you know, I'm not loving the look. But to me to their own, because when I died, the two front pieces of my hair, bleached blonde, and the rest of it black, people didn't like that either so i feel you scott sometimes you just want to change your hair up and other people don't like it but i am getting major i think everyone has always gotten major douchebag vibes from scott dyshec but i'm getting them more than ever now it's not like funny
Starting point is 00:18:34 lord scott anymore or maybe it's just because we're not seeing that type on the show but i don't know isn't it kind of i wonder what the connection is but you know who's always at their family events that I'm like, how did this happen? Maybe it's just a neighborhood thing. See ya. Seah is at all of their events. She was at the birthday party. Maybe just a good pal.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Post a picture. She's sung at like the Christmas Eve party before. Just like, where do, like, family. They can be friends with anybody. No, I know, but it's just like it's somebody who I would just never pair up. Because I feel like the Kardashians have divulged
Starting point is 00:19:20 so much of their lives for so long and seea was like not as much now but like she went through that whole we didn't see her face for a long time you know yeah the whole beginning of her career we didn't see see yeah so people don't talk about that enough how seea really just hit her face for so long and you know what else they got have you ever had raising canes chicken no but i've heard about it people really rave about that place huh it's good and they got it delivered to the party they had a Raising Kane's food truck. That is my number one wish. A party with food trucks?
Starting point is 00:19:54 A party with a food truck. A birthday party was a food truck. Yeah. That's it. It's awesome. You know for my sister's wedding, which obviously got canceled, she was going to have food trucks. After, you know, the reception, they were going to be outside. There was going to be all these different type of food trucks like fast food, dessert, all this shit.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Obviously it didn't happen. Everything got canceled. But that is my dream. My one wish in life. My mom threw my... Chef, great movie. Yeah, yep. Chef is an awesome movie.
Starting point is 00:20:24 If you're ever in a bad movie, put on chef. Makes you still hungry. I was going to say, but if you're also starving, don't put on chef. What an amazing movie. Unless you have food available. I just want to talk about that for a second. It's a great movie. Chef's an awesome movie.
Starting point is 00:20:37 Love John Fadro. He's a genius. Yeah. Great movie. People don't talk about him enough. You guys ever see Swingers? No. Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Vince Vaughn. One of my favorite movies. Yeah. What was I going to say? Oh, my mom threw my dad. a surprise 40th birthday party at in our backyard and same you too my mom threw my dad a surprise at your house at my house wow would you look at that at your house and we had a we had a food truck it was cool and I was very little at this like the only thing I remember from the party it was that there
Starting point is 00:21:07 was like a big food truck with barbecue food you know what I remember for my dad's 40th birthday party it wasn't a surprise but it was at my house and the girls were like making out with each other My mom and like her friends and like the husband's like wives. Like there's so many pictures online. Are you sure this was your dad's 40th birthday boy? I swear to God. Wasn't something else. I swear to God because I wasn't picking.
Starting point is 00:21:35 I wasn't seeing all this go down even though my parents wouldn't have cared. Yeah. On my desktop at home on Long Island, we have all these old pictures on there. And the 40th birthday album of my dad's party is just like a bunch of pictures. of like all like the wives kissing each other on the lips. I don't know. Happy birthday dad. Happy 40th Mike over the hill. Not quite a food truck, but it's something. That is very, very funny. Wow. It was kind of like Marty Grah themed my dad. So there was like a girls making out as far as I know. There might have been, but I like I was sent to bed at a certain point because I was like five.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Like, I was little. Oh, okay. I was really little. All right. Yeah. But did you at least have some barbecue? Um, yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:24 No, yes. I remember. And it was a great surprise. Like, you know when you just like really pull off a surprise party? Like they really. I think my dad knew somehow and I,
Starting point is 00:22:34 but I had no idea. So I was shocked. I'm like, what? Like hundreds of people. Oh, so it was really a surprise party for you. We went to the Mets game as like a distraction and then we came back.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Everyone was there and I'm like, I was so confused. Were you like, this is. Awesome. Yeah, I mean, like, my dad's like high school friends were there. I'm like, what is going on? Oh, that's fun.
Starting point is 00:22:52 That's nice. I hate surprise parties. Have you ever been, have you, has anyone thrown a surprise party for you? No. Yeah, me neither. And I've never thrown one for somebody. And I really, I've actually done it for some of my friends. Not to, so don't throw me a surprise party.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Got it. Noted. I will never throw your surprise party. Thank you. That's even more surprise. I know. Oh, my gosh. That would be sweet.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Oh, you did. Well, don't expect it this year and that'd be a dead giveaway. Okay, I won't. I won't. But maybe down the line. Yeah. I've done it for my friends. It's always the, I actually think throwing a surprise party for someone is very stressful,
Starting point is 00:23:33 but it's also more satisfying. Like, if the person's really surprised, like, you feel so good by yourself that you're like, holy shit, I'm such a good friend. Yeah, that must, it must feel really good afterwards, though. the lead up though? Does anybody want to deal with that anxiety? The lead up is very stressful.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Oh, you've got to show up early. And then you got to tell people who always show up late to show up even earlier because they're going to tell the people who are big blabber mouths to like not yet. You know what I just thought of, you know, an entourage where Ari throws it for her. And she doesn't come in. And Christina Aguilera singing. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Oh my God. She wants Kobe tickets to say. Yeah, that was a really fucking sad episode though. Anyways. Anyways, got to sick look like you had a great birthday. Happy birthday. say Scott. Big old 38.
Starting point is 00:24:19 38. Not quite 40. I know. It's crazy though because I feel like I feel like him dating younger women has actually aged him more. Does that make sense? Like because the girls are so young and everyone's always like, oh, like, he's so old. And I'm like, he's not.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Like he's in his 30. I thought he was 45. Yeah. Like he's still, he's younger than Courtney. So like he's in his 30 still. But the narrative has like changed. now that he's like the older guy dating the young girls and it's like he's really not that whole. I actually agree with you because if Scott was dating Courtney, he'd seem really young still.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And also if he was dating just like a 35 year old, people would be like, oh, Scott to sick, 38. Very average age. Doesn't even need to settle down yet. No, no. He said he's got a whole life ahead of him. But right now when he's dating a 19 year old, it's like, oh, Scott, time is a ticking. Yeah, yeah, for exactly. but it did it did look like a very fun party and how would it not be if everyone left with diamonds
Starting point is 00:25:20 big casting news timothy shallame will be playing willie wonka i don't know why the way you like that made me laugh like movie experts i wanted to sound like one big news out of tinsletown timothy shallemay we're like variety yeah yeah um this is actually very interesting he is going to play Willy Wonka in like a Willy Wonka origin stories, like young Willy Wonka, which is fascinating. Like how did Willy Wonka become Willy Wonka? Now we're going to find out perfect casting. I don't think anybody else could play like young Willy Wonka.
Starting point is 00:25:56 He just makes the most sense. He just has that look. I agree. And I'm really excited for this, except I have such a tainted view on Willy Wonka because of Charlie in the Chaka factory, not the original Willy Wonka, which is a great movie. The original... Jim Wilder, fantastic. The fantastic, great movie.
Starting point is 00:26:16 The Johnny Depp version... I've never seen it. Don't. Refuse. It really scared me growing up to the point where when I would go and sleep at my friend's houses or my cousins, my parents would have to come pick me up
Starting point is 00:26:27 because I would be too scared thinking about the scene when Johnny Depp turns to somebody and goes, you're weird. It's just this one scene. You can find it online if you look up YouTube. Johnny Depp, you're weird. Charlie and Chalka Factory.
Starting point is 00:26:40 You could play it in the... in the podcast. I know. And it gives me the heby-jibis to this day and had scared me my entire childhood. So I'm really happy that we're getting a fresh new one here, even though it's an origin story, totally different vibe. This might taint your view on Timothy Jalme. Like, what if he's kind of like the same type of weird?
Starting point is 00:27:00 I don't think he's going to play the same type of person that Johnny Depp played. I also think this is going to be Willie Wonka like before he gets weird. Yes. You know? Like, I think this is Willie Wonka weird? Like how... Like, the original Gene Wilder, like, I don't think he's weird.
Starting point is 00:27:14 He's just zany. Yeah. I'm telling you it's the Johnny... It's because we're all damaged from the Johnny Depp. Edward Scissorhands is the scariest movie to me of all time. You know what's weird, though? I actually... I never watched it.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Oh, really? No, Edward Scissor Hands... Scissorhands, yes. Charlie and Shocker Factory, Johnny Depp, I never watched because just the previews that played on TV, I hate it. Yes. Very scary, but very contradicting that I loved Edward Cisorhands.
Starting point is 00:27:42 That gave me like, it just creep me out. I really loved Edward Cisarhands growing up but did not like Charlie and Chalka Factory. But I think it was because Charlie and Chalka Factory is like a, oh, I'm a kid movie and then all of a sudden Johnny Depp was so weird whereas Edward Cisorhands It's kind of like a stand-alone thing.
Starting point is 00:27:57 It's also like a love story. Yeah. True. I was just like, his arms are scissors. It's like, no. It's very confusing, but a great movie. Yes. And I think because the Gene Wilder Willie Wonka is just so iconic that
Starting point is 00:28:14 when Johnny Depp did it, it was like, why did we take Willie Wonka in this direction? Like, why are, like, we're, this, the, the hair, the, the, the, the, everything about it was so creepy. I'm bringing it up now. Now I got to bring up the club. Was he in Alice in Wonderland? Or is that someone else? Yes. Oh, he is
Starting point is 00:28:35 too. So he just likes. He's weird. Well, Johnny Depp's a really great actor. It's, it's Tim Burton. Tim Burton's a weirdo As well And that's the kinds of movies you make Tim Burton made that Charlie the Chalkavac movie So it's Tim Burton, yeah 100%
Starting point is 00:28:50 If you really want to blame someone It's Tim Burton But actually yeah Any Tim Burton movie scares Johnny Depp Right I feel bad putting the blame on Johnny Depp But I don't
Starting point is 00:29:00 I'm It's just the commercials Freaked me out But I just feel like This is a way Like maybe we'll just erase That movie from my memory Oh, here it is. It's eight seconds long.
Starting point is 00:29:12 I can't even look. Wait. No. You're really weird. Sounds like Michael Jackson. Yeah. No. You're really weird.
Starting point is 00:29:24 No. And then look at his face in it. I just hate everything about the way he looks. It's, ah! And the teeth and the I... Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Anyway, I will happily watch whatever Timothy Shall
Starting point is 00:29:41 does. I will be watching the preview first, though, just to make sure. You know? I will watch it no matter what. Do you think that he could be getting potential tips from Johnny Depp considering he is, is not maybe could still be or broken up with Lily Rose Depp? Oh, good point. That is a good point. there were rumors that they were back together. He was spotted buying her dress at some place in New York City. That is very interesting. That could be something that he could be getting tips from.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Although I hope he doesn't. Yeah, that's what I was going to say. I think he does just like as an actor, that would be, imagine like you just could go to Johnny Depp about acting. Just in general, getting any tips from Johnny Depp is probably a good thing, not even just about this movie. But I think that this movie is going to be so different than the original Willy Wonka. or Charlie and the Chaka Factory because it is the origin story. It's about him growing up. I don't think it's going to have any of the same vibe that those two movies have in any way.
Starting point is 00:30:53 I think it's going to be totally different. And it is interesting that Timothy's going to play this character. Johnny Depp has played this character before, I guess kind of makes, pull some similarities between Timothy and Johnny Depp. from the standpoint of like you know people kind of joke that sometimes girls like to date versions of their fathers you hate that I hate that because I've actually never dated anybody like my dad
Starting point is 00:31:22 yeah not even that's true you have not even close you haven't I like not even close from a personality looks and personality no from a not it's definitely not a looks no offense to your dad no definitely not but like personality why personality-wise, I get it.
Starting point is 00:31:40 It is very uncomfortable to think about it, and I don't like thinking about it, but like Joe and my dad are really similar. Really? Yeah. That's really interesting. Personality-wise, yeah. My dad and Hank couldn't be less similar personality-wise. If I was, like, out of the picture, Joe and, like, my dad would, like, hold hands and, like,
Starting point is 00:31:57 skip down the street. Like, they love hanging out together. That's really nice. Yeah. That's beautiful. Yeah. No, my dad is such a hot head that I don't even think I could find anybody. I actually wouldn't recommend it.
Starting point is 00:32:08 No. This is the thing, though, it just depends on, like, I think it also comes down to which parent you're like. Like, I act more like my mom, you know? If I acted more like my dad, I couldn't see myself being also with someone like my dad. Which are your siblings act like your dad? Um, my, my brother a little bit more, I think, but I'm saying, like, in a relationship, you got to be the hot head.
Starting point is 00:32:34 You can't have another hot. For sure. If I, here's the thing. We actually talked about this recently. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If I dated another person. You can't date the male version of you. No.
Starting point is 00:32:47 If I dated another person who was just as passionate I like to use as I am, it would just be, it would probably be great. Yeah. But then explosive. Really bad. Really bad. Yeah. So I'm trying, I'm interested to see like maybe if there's any connection there from
Starting point is 00:33:05 like, what does Lily think about her about Timothy playing this character? It's cool. Yeah, it's cool. But when I think of Willy Wonka, I don't think, I think of Gene Wilder. I don't even think of John. I know. I know. I don't just think I, because it's the more recent one that, right. But that's true. I hope it's more of an origin story that connects to Gene Wilder's Willie Wonka and not Sam Burton's Willy Wonka. It's kind of like when you think about Heath Ledger's Joker verse Joaquin Phoenix. Joker. Right. And the origin
Starting point is 00:33:37 Like Jack Nicholson, they're all completely Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The origin story of each of those different jokers would be all very different. Exactly. That's a good way to think about it. Thanks. Amazing news. Rejoice. It's finally happened. The dreads are gone.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Justin Bieber has shaved his head. It's really like, it's just a side relief. It's just like everyone. Long national nightmare. Yeah, exactly. can all just like take a deep breath and just exhale. Because we don't have to worry about seeing those stupid pigtail dread,
Starting point is 00:34:13 whatever the hell he had going on in his head anymore. First of all, it just looked really bad on him. It just looked bad. Right. And on top of it didn't even look cool. No, it didn't even look cool on him. And on top of that, people were pissed off. They were like, Justin Bieber, cultural appropriation.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Twice now. Yeah, they're like, well, you got to stop doing that, Justin. And he didn't care. He was like, I like this hairstyle and he kept rocking with it and it was more so just like it looks bad dude like it doesn't look good on you like yeah you also can't be walking on the street looking like cynthia like she's a really cool dance you know like cynthia she's a really cool dancer cynthia looking like a rug rat stall moving to the groove now it's terrible yeah he looked that spot on he literally looked like cynthia yeah the hairstyle he just wasn't styling it right it looked out of control and thank god it
Starting point is 00:35:03 has been shaved. He looks gorgeous now. Justin Bieber has such a beautiful face. Beautiful. I actually love when he shaves his head. Justin Bieber has such a pretty face for a man that he can just have, shave it off and his, we're just focusing on his face and all of his beauty and it looks great. And Haley's got to be happy. Haley has to be so, that's what I always think about. How does that conversation go down where Haley's looking at him like, babe, please. You gotta get rid of the hair. You gotta change the hair. And he's like, no, I like it. And then at that point, he's Justin Bieber and you're happy
Starting point is 00:35:41 to be his wife. Yeah. And so you're like, okay, you do you. Yeah, I don't want to live in a world where that happens. Like, where they're like so in love where she's like, he could wear any hairstyle and I still love him. Wrong. Right. When people say that.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Deep down, you don't like it. When people say that, they're lying. Lying. The amount of fights I've had about this, like, tell me you don't like my hair. Just say it. Say you don't like my hair. Stop saying you like my hair at all times. You could do anything to your hair. I'll still love it.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Say what you prefer. There's got to be something you don't like and there's got to be one that you prefer. And that doesn't mean the person has to listen to you, but the honesty is way better. But I can picture Haley being like. Especially when it's coming from our side, like from the female side. I think sometimes, you know, your boyfriend's like, oh, short, long, whatever. I don't care. And then, yes, I kind of believe.
Starting point is 00:36:29 it but like you you can't be telling me from our side that you don't see your boyfriend and think like if he were to do this to his hair i would not be happy right right or he needs a haircut yeah you know yeah so you know proper grooming it's important yeah thank god Justin Bieber you're looking good now please if you are looking for the perfect gift for the men in your life manscape has you covered i gotta say you know since we started doing reads for Manscaped, you're doing it on Instagram, talking about it. Starting point is 00:39:08 Well, that's okay. Our first and only lost was to a couple. That is totally okay. I thought it was the competitive one, but I feel like Fran is looking like so like savage. Fran's like, do you really feel that way? I like to give it a more competitive feel. I don't need to gas them up before we play them. Well, I just want to welcome you guys to the show.
Starting point is 00:39:29 And we appreciate you guys joining us. What would you say your expertise is in the pop culture field? for me it's probably going to be like gray's anatomy or the Kardashians good stuff Peter how about you yeah I'm lacking probably the confidence is not not too high with pop culture but I feel like I can get maybe a few tips and tricks and you and I think Noah always throws in a bunch of like general movie questions that I think a lot of you know doesn't matter if you pay attention or not it's just like people kind of know yeah oh no Making a face.
Starting point is 00:40:07 Okay, we'll see. All right, so we are going to kick it off. We, Noah has a movie. We are going to pick a, it's rotten tomato score. And whoever is the closest will determine which team gets to go first. All four of us will get to make a guess. And then first we're going to do 15 questions. Team with the most questions at the end wins.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And if you got a question wrong, the other team has a chance to steal. So Noah, what is our? movie. The movie today is 13 going on 30. Okay. Peter and Chelsea, you guys can choose first. You guys go first, and you each get your own guess.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Yep. Okay. I'm going to say 67%. I'll just say 53. Let's go for that. I'm going to go with 49. Okay. So she went 60. Go high.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Or go with your gut. It's a classic movie. I'm going to go... I'm going to go 54. Chelsea's the closest at 65. Okay. Too long. Nice.
Starting point is 00:41:28 There you go. All right. Question number one. Shout out Emily from Iowa City. What guy and gossip girl had romantic relationships with all of these women? Sage, Marie, Juliet, and Diana. You don't know anything about Gossip Girl? The first only name is mine is Dan Humphreys, and it's not Dan Humphreys.
Starting point is 00:41:55 So... You only have the characters. I know what's the one that's coming here? Um, we got Chase Crawford. He plays... I mean, you know two of them. That's ten seconds. Lots of his act.
Starting point is 00:42:10 That's his real name. Um, I'm just going to go with Dan Humphreys. Final answer. Incorrect. I'm pretty sure it's Nate. Oh, Nate? Because Nate, Dade's... Juliet and
Starting point is 00:42:24 Diana's the older woman. Okay, yes. I'm Nate Archibald. Correct. Yeah. I just figured, you know, Chuck the latest man. I was just going with Chuck.
Starting point is 00:42:34 When Chelsea said Chase Crawford, I was like, don't, don't get it. Don't get it. I was like, I knew it wasn't Dan. Evil friends. Sorry. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Question number two. Shout out Lauren from Maryland for this next one, and I just would like to preface it. It's a Jonas brother's question. I had because you told or you freaked out about the Jonas Brothers questions, that's all I got. Everyone submitted Jonas Brothers questions. I think this one is like somewhat reasonable.
Starting point is 00:43:02 I'm going to get them all wrong now just because I was such a proud last week. This is the only Jonas Brothers question. Okay. I'm saying I'm probably going to get it wrong now because I was such a brat. Don't put that out there. Okay. The Jonas Brothers have only had three songs reach the top 10 on the billboard hot 100 list. Name the three songs.
Starting point is 00:43:20 The top 10? Yes. Um, sucker. Sucker. Cool. Your 3,000? I don't think so. Burning up would be my...
Starting point is 00:43:40 10 seconds. Burning up, sucker. I don't really think, like, a lot of the old ones did, because they didn't get a lot of radio play. Burning up. Sucker and cool. Final answer. Incorrect.

Starting point is 00:44:11 But then I'm trying to think of their most recent album Hoping to begin And not the only one that's coming up at school 10 seconds And the other song Okay, we're going to go with burning up A sucker And then happiness
Starting point is 00:44:30 Final answer Final answer And correct as well The correct answer is Sucker, burning up, tonight. Okay. I'm surprised by that. Interesting. Yeah, I was surprised, too. I don't even know what tonight is.
Starting point is 00:44:47 I'm not going to sing it, so. I thought about it. I thought about it, and I'm not going to do it. Okay. Ria and Fran are still up one nothing, and this question is to Chelsea and Peter now. Shout out Christine from Ottawa, Canada. What was the name of Lindsay Lohan's character's band in Freaky Friday?

Starting point is 00:45:31 I know. Take me. And the other one. Hey. Take me. I got nothing. Ten seconds. I got nothing.
Starting point is 00:45:47 All right. I also did less multiple choice questions because you said I had too many last time. No, that's fair. I think if you gave that one. one in a multiple choice, I easily would have gotten it. Yeah. The answer is pink slip. Yeah. Yeah, 100%. If you said that in a multiple choice, I... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:03 I like thinking hard. Pink slip. Fuck. Okay. Yep. All right. Still one nothing in this question is to re-and-friend now. Shout out, Grace from Illinois. Starting point is 00:49:07 right? I think just go the bell. I don't have any answer besides I think the Bellas. I don't know if the Bellas is like a nickname or something longer. The Aca Bellas. The Bella's final answer. Incorrect.
Starting point is 00:49:21 The Aca Bellas. Is that what it is? It's perfect. That's not. I don't know. I think that would be it then. I think that might be a good. Okay.

Starting point is 00:50:01 And this question is now to Chelsea and Peter. Shout out Emma from Chicago. This is kind of like a more time-relevant question. How many children has Nick Cannon had with another? woman in the past six months. How many children has he fathered in the past six months? I think it's three.
Starting point is 00:50:24 And I said three that's kind of answer. Incorrect. It is a lot. So I saw an article that was like he's expecting his seventh child. So we already had two with Mariah Carey.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Twins? Twins count is two. I did not even know they had kids. What? No idea. Oh, Maria. I know. No idea.
Starting point is 00:50:47 two kids, the twins with Mariah Carey. I think he had other kids. In the last six months, how many kids is? There was another set of twins. I don't think it's two. Four? Let's go four. Correct.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Yeah. Four kids in the last six months. Four. Holy shit. Because one of them is another set of twins. And then I think then two other ones. That's wild. I didn't believe that when I read it.
Starting point is 00:51:11 I was like, I have to put that in here just. Just because in case anybody listening didn't know that Nick Cannon got Or is it, I mean, yeah, three different women. I don't think it's four different women. I think it's three. I think one of them is twins. I think one of them is twins. But that's still crazy.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Because I do remember seeing one article saying he was expecting another set of twins. And he already has twins with my care. News to me. Yeah. All right. Four nothing, Reinfran. And this question is to Reinfran. Shout out Ruby and Elizabeth from Georgia.
Starting point is 00:51:42 What song on Olivia Rodriguez's album is Taylor Swift credited on? A. favorite crime B happier C traitor D one step forward three steps back D

Starting point is 00:52:22 Five, nothing, Rian, Fran. This question is to be a good. All, we already have one. Yeah, let's come on. Yeah, I'm rooting for you guys now. What was the name of Lisa Vanderpump's late dog? You might have to be a little bit more specific. She's had a lot of dogs die.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Like, just died, most recently, die. Okay. I'm just saying she said, are they allowed to phone a friend? Yeah, why don't we, yeah, why not? You want to call your mom? We're just going to throw this rule in here now. Yeah, I do want to call. Yeah, let's...
Starting point is 00:52:59 We're going to regret this. I think we can allow a one phone of friend. Yeah, maybe we should... I think you're going to regret this when we're in a really close match next time, and they're like, hey, we're going to use our phone of friend. We're going to be like, oh, fuck. Should we not allow this?
Starting point is 00:53:12 Too late now. So do you want me to put on speaker when I call? Yeah, yeah. Don't answer. Yeah, and if you only get one call, if they don't answer, that's that. Mm-hmm. He's going to let us down, Gene.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Gene, come on, Jean. What do you possibly do here? It's a lot of rings. I don't know. Okay. Could I try my daddy? You usually with her. Nope.
Starting point is 00:54:03 You got one. That was it. I'm sorry, Peter. We can't be making all these exceptions. You had one phone a friend. Unfortunately, you're going to have to just take a guess. It's, uh, I said, boogie. I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Fuji, final answer. In fact. Do you know? The only one I can think of is Jiggy. Is Jiggy dead? Yeah. Yeah. So Jiggy, Jiggy.
Starting point is 00:54:31 Correct. Yeah. Oh, Jiggy's dead. Right. Yes. I remember Fran posting about it, I think. I mean, we, we, what? When we saw Lisa Vanderbophebom, she was holding two dogs that we were convinced we're stuffed.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Yeah, they did not look alive at all. We think those dogs aren't breathing. One of them being Jiggy. Yeah. Okay. 6-0-0 Rianne. This question is to Rian Fran. Rough.
Starting point is 00:54:58 No pun to you. Which one of these Ryan Gossin movies is not one of his top three grossing movies? A. La La Land. B. The Notebook. C. Crazy Stupid Love. D. Blade Runner. I feel like this might be kind of like a trick. Part of me wants to say The Notebook.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Part of me wants to say Crazy Stupid Love. I think Blade Runner is in there. Yeah. I think it's either one of those two. Ten seconds. The notebook. I know.
Starting point is 00:55:39 It just seems like, wow. Like box office or grossing of all time? Grosing like in total. Like ever. In total. I think crazy stupid love. All right. I'll trust you with that.
Starting point is 00:55:53 That's okay. Let's go crazy stupid love. All right. See, crazy stupid love. Fuck. Okay. Yeah. Lawlo and land for sure.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Lawland for sure. the notebook all the time. So I think Blade Runner, I mean, it's popular. Which Blade Runner? It's the new one, right? The new one. Yeah, I would say Blade Runner. It seems like the obvious one here, but it could be the notebook. And we're just kidding.
Starting point is 00:56:24 You take the answer. All right. Let's see Blade Runner. Incorrect. Is it the notebook? I had a feeling it was a notebook. I don't know why. Just because it's like, it's the notebook. Of course you would think.
Starting point is 00:56:39 And it came out long. Yeah. There's just, yeah. People always talk about how, like, the notebook is the notebook, but the notebook didn't, like, perform like the notebook. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:50 It wasn't as massive. Yeah. Yeah. Shit. All right. I wish I got that one. Now, this question is back to Chelsea and Peter. And I'm going to play a line from a movie, and you tell me what movie it's from.
Starting point is 00:57:02 So how did you guys meet? It's really funny, actually. Like, I was not into him at first. He used to shoot spit wads at me in Spanish class. which is like so junior high. That's it. I can't believe you put this. It's got to be like a high school movie or something.
Starting point is 00:57:24 I have no idea. I know what it is. Can you play it one more time? Yeah. So how did you guys meet? It's really funny, actually. Like, I was not into him at first. He used to shoot spit wads at me in Spanish class,
Starting point is 00:57:38 which is like so junior high. Um, okay. Oh. What do you think? Ten more seconds. Wasn't a wire movie? I feel like that sounds right. All right.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Lids me a Blire movie. Final answer. Incorrect. Sorry. You really didn't want to let them know that. It hurts every time I'm not. You should have just lied to. It is.
Starting point is 00:58:06 I'm really. It's Valentine's Day. Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift's in Valentine's Day. Taylor, talking, Taylor Swift talking about Taylor Lodder and Valentine's Day. Natalie gave that one to me. I knew. I couldn't figure out whose voice that one.
Starting point is 00:58:17 thought maybe because the voice is very much Taylor Swift. For some reason. And like, what movie is Taylor Swift in? I couldn't put, I was like, whose voice is that sounds so familiar? I've never seen Valentine's Day, but yeah. You've never seen Valentine's Day? That's a great movie. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:58:31 All those movies are like bad, good. Yeah, like New Year's Eve. Yeah, like that one's bad. Valentine's Day is a lot better. I audition for Mother's Day as Jason Sadecas's kid. Oh, wow. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:41 And now we're in love with Jason. Yeah. Yeah. I never saw that. I know. Okay. Moving on. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Okay, this question is to Rianne. They are up 7-0. Shout out Lindsay from Houston. What fictional island does Harry Styles adore you music video take place on? A. Narnia. B. Aroda. C. Avalon.
Starting point is 00:59:05 D. Nedlog. I have no idea. I can't even act like I do know. I think it's B. Let's go with B. I think it's B. B. Roda, final answer.
Starting point is 00:59:25 Correct. Because a rhoda backwards is a door. Yeah. There you go. Noah loves throwing out that fact. She was like, because. Let me tell you why. Yeah, that's what the girl wrote, and I'm like, oh, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:59:38 That's cool. Okay. 8-0 now. Pulling for Chelsea and Peter. Yeah, it was something to lay up. All right. Shout up Fiona from North Carolina. which Ivy League school did John Legend graduate from?
Starting point is 00:59:56 A, Harvard, B, Columbia, C, Dartmouth, D, University of Pennsylvania. Not Harvard? Peter's like, I don't know, you tell me. I'm not really with much help. You say Ivy League School? Yeah. Pennsylvania and Ivy League School? University of Pennsylvania.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Yeah, Sue Penn. They all are. I think. I feel like Columbia, that sounds like a good one. All right. That's what you said. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:00:33 Yeah. I wish I could say yes, but it's not. Oh. Oh. You know, wow. It's UPenn. It is. It is?
Starting point is 01:00:45 Yeah. Oh my God. You got to, you just twisted the knife. Yeah. I thought I was maybe going to give it to him. I thought me being like, no, UPen. It's definitely Ivy League. That he went to.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Go on he went to as well. Yeah. All right. questions left. This is an embarrassment. Two questions left. And scores 9-0. You got a chance to get 1.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Yeah. Well, you have a chance to get 2 if we get hours wrong. Yep. All right. Shout out Caitlin from Des Moines, Iowa. This is Therene, Fran. What is Esteban's full name in the sweet
Starting point is 01:01:19 life of Zach and Cody? Esteban Julio Recorda Montoya Della Rosa Ramirez. Wow. Okay. I was like that's... Okay, man. That's actually hilarious because I can only get
Starting point is 01:01:31 half of that. Like I was like, oh shit, I definitely don't know the rest of it. That was either going to be way too hard or just... Also, her brain, like, like, it just, like, it naturally poured out of her mouth. She wasn't even thinking. I didn't think. I didn't know I knew it all. Yeah, just float. I didn't. I thought I was, opened your mouth. It just all came out. I thought it was going to stop, too. I was like, do I even know it all? Just, just like, threw it up.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Okay. Sounds like you rehearsed in front of here. Yeah, whoa. I looked at you because I knew I wasn't going to know it, but... That was a good question. All right. 10 nothing. 10 nothing. Final question.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Can't be a shutout. It can't be a shutout. Come on. Let's go, Chelsea and Peter. You guys got this. Shout out Jen from Northern Virginia. All right, Jen. Where did Margarabi work before she became famous?
Starting point is 01:02:21 A. Subway. B. McDonald's. C. Panera Bread. D. Taco Bell. I'm going to go with Subway. I mean, I feel like Panera bread's like, not like new, but when she was younger,
Starting point is 01:02:45 before she was an actress, I feel like that. I think that's, but there's also Taco Bill. What was the other one? It was a subway, B McDonald's, C, Panarabred, D Taco Bill.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Okay. We're going to go with the subway. Correct. You got it. At the buzzer. At the buzzer, the final, the final question, they got one point. You should have to do it.
Starting point is 01:03:10 I wish you guys could see Noah's face right now. He literally looked at us and went, correct. I was like, because you guys started to question Subway, I'm like, oh, no. Like, please, just stick with Subway. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. That's funny. All right, 10 to 1 final score.
Starting point is 01:03:29 Redeemed ourselves against couples. Yes, we have. Thank you guys so much. We really appreciate you joining. Sorry about the technical difficulties in the beginning. So what's your show? Like we're going to send merch to you guys. Yeah, what's your favorite show here?
Starting point is 01:03:45 I'm assuming you don't want chicks in the office merch. What's, like, we could get you part of my take or like for play. What is it? The betting stuff? Part of my take. I listen to the most. Sweet. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:56 All right. So Noah will email you guys and you can send like your sizes address, whatever, and we'll get you guys some stuff. Thank you. That was fun. Yeah. Thank you. so much. I really wish your mom answered. I really did. Like, you got to, like, give her shit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And because I know she's definitely going to be like, oh, Jackie.
Starting point is 01:04:18 You know it. Exactly. She's going to know immediately. She looks. She watched all the Bravo stuff. That's amazing. Probably been a partner, better partner than I was. Yeah. Well, thank you guys so much. Thank you. It was nice to meet you. Bye. Thank you. Nice to meet you. Bye. All right, everyone. We are here. with a very special guest, Olivia Holt. This is the second time she has been on our show,
Starting point is 01:04:42 and we are so excited to have you back because we are obsessed with Cool Summer. Olivia, how are you doing? So good. Thanks for having me back. We are so excited. Like I said, the show is so great. We have, like, I'm trying to think, Ria, you watched it first, and you were like, guys, I found it. I found a good one. We are, we have an obsession with watching TV, obviously. Everybody knows that. But, when I first heard of Cruel Summer, I just love the concept of like a who-do-it type of story, you know, and that's, I feel like what this is. And I came in and I was like, guys, get on Cruel Summer.
Starting point is 01:05:19 I told all our listeners, I was like, we got to watch it week to week. So that's what we've been doing. My parents are watching it. They're obsessed every episode they text me after. But it's awesome. And I want to know how you got involved. I want to know if you knew the ending before you shot the ending. I want to know all about it.
Starting point is 01:05:37 Well, first, thank you for watching. I'm so bad you guys are into it. That makes me really happy. And that your parents are into it. Oh, they're obsessed. They tell other people, I hear them having conversations. They're like, oh, you got to watch this show, cool summer. I'm like, you guys are nuts. That's so cool. Yeah, so I guess last year, at the beginning of the year, pre-pandemic, I was trying to like find the next thing. reading scripts. I wasn't obsessed with anything until Curl Summer came into my inbox. I read the first two episodes and was immediately hooked. And this is my favorite genre ever. Like I'm obsessed with psychological thrillers. I invest myself almost too much into them. And I really, really, really wanted to be a part of it. And I met with the whole creative team. And I was super lucky to like immediately get involved and we were supposed to start shooting the whole show at the beginning of March pandemic hit. So I lived with this script for almost a year before we started shooting the show back in October and I wish that I could tell you that I knew the ending before we started
Starting point is 01:06:52 shooting but I knew nothing. Like even like all of like the details and depths of my character like were all worked out while on set because we didn't really know like what the trajectory of my character looked like. And then it was around episode nine, there's 10 episodes, on episode nine is when I found out the ending. And I think you guys are going to be pretty tough. Oh, boy. It's just, it's so great because it's, like you said,
Starting point is 01:07:18 the genre is so awesome. You just never know what's going to happen. And for those listening who maybe haven't started to watch the show yet, hop on it. It's great. You can totally catch up by the time. like Olivia said, 10 episodes total. And your character, Kate Wallace, is,
Starting point is 01:07:35 it's really cool to see, and I bet you I would love to know how you felt playing a character over three separate years. Because it's almost like you played three, it's the same person, but it's kind of like three completely different people. 100%. Yeah. It was wild.
Starting point is 01:07:53 So the show is based in the 90s, and it takes over three different summers in the 90s, 93, 94, 95. So we all, not just my, my character, but like every other actor in the show had to create three different versions of their character. Because it's a psychological thriller and so much trauma happens and it's very heavy and dark and twisted. Because of all of like those factors and elements, each year we had to change so drastically. And so it was fun. It was so wild.
Starting point is 01:08:26 And we didn't shoot in chronological orders. So like in one single filming day, we were bouncing around from like 95 and then to 93 and then to 94. And so I was constantly in my trailer changing. Changing your hair. Putting like extensions in and then taking them out. And then it was wild. But man, it was so fun. Like that's like the dream, like to be able to like challenge yourself and give yourself like an obstacle.
Starting point is 01:08:53 And it's so rewarding. Like when you meet people that are just obsessed with the show and like obsessed with. like every element of it because there was so much hard work that went into it. And because it's based in the 90s, we really had to transport people back into that time. So each year, we had to make sure it was curated to that year. How do you get yourself into that headspace for each year? Is it like music? I know the song is zombie, right, is a song that she always listens to. And I'm not going to lie now when I listen to that song, I'm like, I'm Kate, but that's not the case. How do you get yourself? into that headspace.
Starting point is 01:09:34 I, yeah, I guess it's music. Music, like, really transports me and takes me there. I guess, I guess, too, like, the, it's just, like, communication with your people on set, like, from the creatives to the other actors, like, really knowing, like, where you are at in time and knowing the moment before and then moment after, because sometimes we're shooting a scene that takes place in 95 after my character is rescued and
Starting point is 01:10:03 you don't, and then the next scene you do is like before my character goes missing. So you kind of like have to like really dial in on just the communication I think overall. But with the heavy stuff, yeah, music usually takes me to do a dark place.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Did you have a favorite year to play? Yeah, 95. 95. 95. My favorite year. Yeah, it was just fun. It was just liberating to be in like this space of freedom. And, and I sort of, it's interesting because like my character goes through this phase where she like decides not to color her hair anymore and like chops it off and like goes into like this grungy space. And it's interesting because like in my personal life, I kind of did that. Like I kind of was like, I'm going to chop off my hair and I'm going to like become this whole new version. version of me and I've never felt more myself like when I did that. And so I think that that's probably why it's my favorite version of Kate. But then also like 93 is really fun because I get to have all this long hair again and I have a little bit of a southern twang and yeah, it's just like, you know,
Starting point is 01:11:15 I don't know if I can actually decide, but if I had to, it would probably be 95. Yeah. And there are obviously some dark scenes within the show. What was it like filming that and how do you kind of separate yourself when you're done filming to get back to like a normal place? That's a really good question. And honestly, it's really hard. I have a very difficult time compartmentalizing and getting myself to that space. The show is, it can get really heavy. And I really had to educate myself on what gaslighting is, on manipulation, on going through trauma and how to move past trauma and not let it control your life. I've never been through trauma like that before,
Starting point is 01:12:02 so I can't relate to it in the slightest. So I really had to, like, up my knowledge and do, like, educate myself and really bring myself to that place. And I was lucky enough to have had people on set that sort of had been through that or, or just were, like, respecting that space that I was, or that place that I was going to. So I don't know. it's really hard. There's like Keira Aurelia who plays Jeanette in the show, she is brilliant and can just like bounce into the emotion and then like once they all cut. She's like, and so this
Starting point is 01:12:40 again, I'm going to get out of it. And I'm like, I can't be there with you because I just don't, I don't know how to separate myself from that. So it sucks because like some days we start the day with an emotional scene and then I'm just sad the rest of the day. Right. Well, you guys are both phenomenal, honestly. Like, you guys are so, so good in this show. And you guys don't have many scenes together. It's kind of separate. But have you guys, you know, created a friendship and relationship outside the show, even though you guys may have not worked together a lot on screen? Yeah, we actually lived next to each other. We shot the show in Dallas, Texas, and we lived in the same condo, basically. She, we shared a wall. So, like, constantly, we were, like,
Starting point is 01:13:21 knocking on the side of the walls and saying what's up. But yeah, I saw her a lot throughout the duration of filming. She's such an awesome person, just is so excited about life always. And it's so good in this show. She's such a phenomenal actress. And I think the relationship that we made outside of the show, when we did have scenes together, and towards the end of the season, we obviously, you'll see Kate and Jeanette come together and have more scenes together.
Starting point is 01:13:51 But I think it made those scenes like that much better because we had empathy for each other in real life. And I think like where we could where we could take our characters in those scenes just made it a hundred times better. Yeah. And the suspense is drawn out so much, especially when you have a show like this that does. Because not all shows now air week to week. Sometimes you can watch them all in one night. and when they come out on a streaming service, things like that. So having like having that night to week to week feeling where it's like the episode ends
Starting point is 01:14:29 and you're like, no. Like I can't believe I have to wait a whole other week. But for these kinds of shows, I think it's so great because it does create a chatter around the show. People can talk about with their friends. What do you think is that happened next week? Who do you think it is? Have you seen any like fan theories that you have either like really,
Starting point is 01:14:50 really loved or like thought was just so ridiculous. Totally. There's some awesome, there's some incredible fan theories out there. And I'm honestly like, these people should be writers. Because there are some of them so good and so like, so articulate and detailed. I'm like, how are you not a writer? But most of them right now anyway, because where we're at in the show, have to do, and I don't know if you guys are at this point yet, but there is.
Starting point is 01:15:20 a name that has been dropped in the show, and it's called Annabelle. And so... We're up to date. We're up to date. We're recording this on Tuesday. I'll be watching tonight. Don't worry. Yeah, it's funny because, like, everybody has, like, their own opinion of who Annabelle is.
Starting point is 01:15:43 Right. And how, like, Annabelle is, like, tied into the story. So the theories are kind of wild And I don't know if I could say any of them Without giving anything away Right, right But I do think that a lot of people Because with psychological thrillers
Starting point is 01:16:02 And you guys know this Like you have to pay attention Like you have to watch like everyone This one especially Like you can't watch this show and be on your phone You really can't because you look up And all of a sudden it's a different year And you're like, wait
Starting point is 01:16:13 I definitely miss something Yeah I know. It's tricky. And honestly, like, this genre is so hard to, it's so hard to execute well, in my opinion. And so I think the way that this show is edited from like the music to, I mean, it just like, I feel like it's executed very well. And I think that that's why people have become so invested in it because you do have to watch it. It's not white noise that you just have on it in the background. Like you have to like invest yourself into the story. And so I'm stoked that like people are coming up with their own theories. And what I love. love is like that's what the cast and I did because we didn't know the ending when we started shooting. So like every time we got a new script, we would all jump on the phone and we'd be like, oh my God, okay. So like here's what I think is going to happen. Who is Annabelle? I'm going to tell you who Annabelle is because this is what my theory is. And like it was like a constant like conversation. And I love like I love that. I like thrive off of that. So I'm
Starting point is 01:17:09 stoked that people are doing that and like having like this fun conversation off of it. How far off was your theory to what? actually happens. I was completely wrong. Yeah. I was wrong like four times, though. Like, not like only ones. Like, I was wrong like four times.
Starting point is 01:17:28 So I don't know if this says, like, something bad about, like, my judgment of, like, how I watch television or films, but I was so wrong. Or just how good the show is and how it just catches people off guard. Was anybody in the cast, right? Did anybody get it? Or have you seen anybody online guess it right? I've seen a couple people online Like they're on the right path
Starting point is 01:17:50 Right Because I feel like we're still not quite there I think we like I think I need episode So this is going to come out tomorrow It's like this will come out Wednesday So if you've watched Tuesday night's episode already Maybe you have a little bit more information But I do think I think like the episode
Starting point is 01:18:06 Tonight will help people kind of even more Because we're getting down the end now Yeah So like the last four, seven, eight, nine, and ten are going to change everything. And this is seven tonight, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm so excited.
Starting point is 01:18:25 And I also love, like, people love the nostalgia. And, you know, it takes place in the 90s. So there's all these great references and hearing, like, Mallory talk about clerks and, like, her dad. It's just, it's all, there's, like, cool little drops in there that are really, really cute. And, like, what did you guys, like, did you, when you were using this technology, that's in the 90s, you're sitting at your desktop, you're in a chat room.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Did you have any idea what those things even were before you started filming this show? Of course not. Of course not. I think I had an AIM account for like a hot minute. Yeah. But I had like a laptop. Like I think I legitimately had like a MacBook pro at the time. Like I don't.
Starting point is 01:19:06 Right. This isn't like dial up internet. I have a dial up. Yeah. I didn't have a dial up. I didn't have a walkman. I had no idea how to use it. And then even like the verbiage, like the language that was used, I think in the episode that comes out tonight.
Starting point is 01:19:20 And the only reason I remember this is because I was so confused by it when I wrote the script. But I have a line where I'm like, oh, that's so fat. P-H-H-H-A-T. Yes. Yeah. I was like, what? That's so, it's foreign territory to me because I just don't talk like that. And I don't, nobody in like my life talks like that.
Starting point is 01:19:44 it is like it's wild like we really transport people back into that time yeah and i think especially now i mean obviously people love any sort of nostalgia but like 90s trends are just massive massive right now that's all everybody's into the way people dress on tic-tok so it's like giving us the show placed in the 90s people just eat that up yeah the fashion on your the fashion on the show is so good too that i feel like people are getting a lot of inspiration from it like because you have kind of like that early 90s, like you said, like 93 is bright and there's fun colors and the visuals are so different. And the 95 is like good 90s grunge. Yeah, the fashion on the show is everything.
Starting point is 01:20:26 And I think all of us were so involved in the, like, styling process and our whole wardrobe department just crushed it. And a lot of our stuff is vintage. It's like 90s vintage. So, and everyone like has their own thing, which I really like. I feel like even like in 93 with Kate and her two best friends. Like the three of them dress so differently. It's not like they're the popular girls that all dress like the same.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Like they have like their own their own style, which I really love. Yeah. The whole thing is visually so cool. And like you just said, so you guys, you got the script then had to wait it out pandemic. What were you doing in that time? How did you spend the time waiting to get to get to filming? Yeah. I mean, the first couple months were really weird.
Starting point is 01:21:23 It was really, really weird because I wasn't auditioning. I wasn't reading anything. I was just kind of like doing nothing. So really strange. And then I kind of started making music again. And I sort of prioritized that a lot during the pandemic. And it was nice. because I felt like I kind of banked a lot of things out.
Starting point is 01:21:46 So when I went to film the show, I had all of this stuff in the music archive that I could just release while I was making the show and I didn't have to stress about, like, making music while I was there and in the middle of a pandemic. So I kind of found a good rhythm, which is weird, but I found it during the middle of a pandemic. But it definitely, I found like,
Starting point is 01:22:07 I think I actually, like, found like my sound and my voice during the pandemic with music. So that was kind of like my main priority. That's awesome. I feel like, you know, as much as people struggled, obviously, there are a lot of people who are like, I really found myself because I actually had time to sit with myself and my own thoughts and just like figure it out, which is cool. And also just the fact that you knew you were going to be filming a show, like you had that in your back pocket. It must have just felt super comforting as well. Yeah, it was definitely strange because we thought we were going to go in March.
Starting point is 01:22:43 and then we got pushed. And then we thought we were going to go in July at one point. And then we got pushed. And then October was finally like, okay, we're doing it. And so I, after like July happened, I kind of had a few months to like really solidify a bunch of things. And you're right. Like you're spending so much time with yourself. It's like, I live alone.
Starting point is 01:23:05 So I'm like, and the reason why is because I'm with people all day long. And then I come home and I like to decompress by myself. Yeah. But I don't want to decompress all day long. Like, that's like, that's not fun. It gets dark. Yeah. For sure.
Starting point is 01:23:20 And it was, yeah, you're right. It was really challenging. And I'm just, I feel very grateful to have, like, found, like, to. And then it was just a reminder, too, that I love what I do so much, that it didn't, like, draw me away from being creative. Like, it actually made me more creative than it ever had. Yeah, that's awesome. And amazing turnaround.
Starting point is 01:23:43 on these shows, honestly. Like, we've been talking to a few actors and actors where they film something in the fall and all of a sudden it's out now. It's like, give us everything, you know? Because obviously, when everything shut down, selfishly, the people watching the shows, not in them are like, well, when are we going to get these things? But they're coming. They're quick turnaround on production.
Starting point is 01:24:03 So shout out to these people working on the shows because they're doing an amazing job. I'm truly baffled. Like, we got back in March, I think. And then they were like, all right, we're doing press. I was like, oh, we're doing it. Like, we're really, and usually you have to wait like a year. And then you forget everything. And it's like hard to talk about the show because you're like, I don't remember where I was in that time or place.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Yeah, it's, it's nice to like have it come out now. And people are craving stuff because everyone's already watched everything. So I'm stoked on it. Yeah. It's been so much fun to watch. We've loved watching it. And so, you know, we have a few weeks left for more episodes. What else do you, what else do you have coming up?
Starting point is 01:24:42 what can you share with us? Man, I'm currently back in the music realm, which is really nice. I have a single coming out in June that I'm really stoked about, and it kind of like marks this like new era of music for me, which I'm so happy because I feel like the last couple of years, I've kind of taken a step back and tried to really solidify, like, who I want to be as an artist and as an individual. and there's just so much that I've learned about myself.
