Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners. You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Ria and Fran. We are giving you that Friday energy on a Thursday. It's honestly a fantastic, fantastic Thursday. Yes.
Starting point is 00:00:33 Because right now we're recording this. It's Wednesday as we do. We record the night before. We're going to dinner with your mom. mom. We're going to deal with your mom tonight. And when you listen to us on Monday, you will hear the follow-up of what happened. But this is the first time I am meeting your mom. Yeah, that is still it is very, very bizarre. I mean, we've been doing this for a long time. It's so bizarre. It's so weird. You have met my siblings, but you have not met my mom. And that says way more, no offense to my parents.
Starting point is 00:01:01 They're just not really around New York anymore. Like they live in New Jersey, but they travel a lot so they're not even there. I don't spend a lot of time in Chatham, so I'm not going out there that much. But finally, like, it got to the point where my mom has pestered me about it for a while now. It was like, when am I going to meet Riyadh? I'm like, all right, well, if you're ever home, let me know, and we'll do it. So she, we set it up, we're going to dinner. It's very exciting. You know, Fran, it just, like, has hurt me so much that. Are you embarrassed to me? You're embarrassed me? No, but I introduce me to your mom. Yeah. You're, you're, you're, you're, you're, right though like you spent a lot of time on long island i'm from long island my parents live on long
Starting point is 00:01:42 island so you have been with my parents multiple times because you we hang out on long island we're never hanging out in new jersey that's just the way it is we're not hanging out in the summer time there's just fun things to do where you are in the beach and that's where my boyfriend is so it's just like there's way more going on there's not a lot going on in chatham new jersey in the in the summertime there's not nobody's really there so and your parents aren't even there they're not even there they're not even there They're doing their thing. They're going on vacation. We are going to dinner.
Starting point is 00:02:10 It's going to be fantastic. She's my favorite person to follow on Instagram at the moment. Just saying she cracks me up. So I'm just saying we. She cracks me up too. She's funny on social media. So it's going to be so much fun. And I'm sure we'll have good stories from when we.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Yes, definitely. She texted me. She said she's excited to meet the daughter. She's never met. That's how it feels. I honestly feel. feel like I'm meeting like I'm a long lost child. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:38 And I'm finally meeting my mom for the first time. Like I've met my sister, but I have yet to meet my mom. Right. We'll see if we click. I don't know. It's going to be so much fun. Yes, it will. And we're going to eat some good Italian food.
Starting point is 00:02:52 So that's the best part about it. That's really the best part about it. Anytime you've got a free meal, it's just top notch. Just top notch. Pretty crazy. HBO Real Sports is doing something on Dave. I don't really know the context of it besides they are doing a piece on barstle and Dave. We don't know which direction this is going to be taken in.
Starting point is 00:03:15 But I sat down for an hour. Yes. For this, obviously they're not going to use the full hour. Yeah. We know that. But it was really just a crazy surreal experience for me. Like I was super nervous, but I also was honored that I got to talk about working here and just like what we have done together. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:34 And I mean, I'm still, I talked about it a lot during the interview. And then I'm sitting here and it's just so crazy to me. Like, I'm still pinching myself. Like, why was I being, you know what I mean? Yeah. It's very cool. And hopefully, hopefully, fingers crossed that this like, you know, comes out the way we wanted to come out. But even if it doesn't, you know, they got to film a lot of cool footage of stuff that we do every day and Snapchat and our videos and radio and everything.
Starting point is 00:04:02 They filmed me editing too, which was cool. Oh, that's exciting. They did a whole, like, sell. So, yeah, so Noah, hopefully we get a couple cameos. Maybe Ria gave some shoutouts. Because remember the New York Times? Yes. Well, I gave, I did give Fran a lot of shoutouts.
Starting point is 00:04:16 I did. Well, it's like a very impossible to. If the roles were reversed, it would be the same thing. It would have been impossible to sit there and not say your name, obviously. So, yeah, you got the most shoutouts, Fran. Thank God. I'd probably be mad if I didn't. Duh.
Starting point is 00:04:31 So would I. I'd be like. Like, fuck her. No, but it, honestly, we don't, you don't know how it's going to turn out. Yeah, fingers crossed. Like I said, fingers crossed. Confident in it. So we'll see what happens.
Starting point is 00:04:41 I mean, you're in a fucking red power blazer. Yeah, I'm in a red power blazer right now. Shout out to Fran. She helped me pick it out. Now you have like a, now you have a women, like a powerful blazer. I said to come out. Like this, this can be, this is now a good staple for your wardrobe. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:56 This was a good investment. I, I totally agree with you. And didn't I say to you a little while back up, I was like, I, I, I, I wanted a blazer. For a blazer. You wanted a nice sort of blazer, but I'm not, I don't think I'm the type to wear just like a black. Yeah, totally. Or a navy blazer.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Yeah. I think red, it fits me. It's cute. It's got good little accents. It's a good, it's a good red power blazer. And I feel confident in it. Right. So now this actually explains when you watch like clips maybe from the podcast or from our video that
Starting point is 00:05:25 re-recorded today on why I look like I'm taking a stroll down the beach and Reyes got like a very professional look going on. woman. Yes. With like my faux on makeup done. Take everybody down. But listen. It's going to be an important piece of your closet now.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I think we made a good move with that. Yeah. Fran, we, I'm proud of us. I'm so proud of us. But we have a great show. Like usual,
Starting point is 00:05:49 I say that every time because it's true. This one really does feel like a great one though. Yeah. You know when it just really hits? This one hits. Because all the topics I love so much. Mainly because. Everything on this pockets I love so much.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Right. Because the Jonas Brothers. When is like the George Brothers and the Bachelorette and you just put them together? Like that's just what this podcast is Fran. Yeah. Is Fran at her core? Yeah. Chicks in the office built on Jonas Brothers and Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Bachelor. So Fran, let's get into it. We got Jonas Brothers recap. The documentary. Chasing happiness. Fantastic. Just we cried our eyes out, obviously. Bachelorette recap.
Starting point is 00:06:29 By the way. Shout out to. to Adam and Raven who are engaged. Another success story for Bachelor and Paradise. Paradise is the winner. Like everybody, Paradise seems to actually work the last few seasons we've gotten so many couples that have gotten engaged or have stayed together or getting married or whatever it is moving in together.
Starting point is 00:06:52 There's like seven now. Like that's so impressive. It's probably around the same amount as the Bachelor and Bachelorette having a bajillion season. So yeah so good for them Prove us in the pudding Super happy for them They're so cute
Starting point is 00:07:05 And I can't wait for them to get married actually I agree Miley Cyrus disturbing video from somebody coming after her in in Barcelona Pete Davidson modeled Model for the first time Alexander Wayne
Starting point is 00:07:19 It's basically a supermodel We have Caleb on the show Returning from his trip Reading a letter from Rhone I if you listen to anything on this show today. Can't emphasize. There we go.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Can't emphasize this enough. Yes. If you are going to listen to anything on this show today, let it be this letter from Roan. I'm telling you, you don't want to miss it. So good. And we also have a fantastic interview from Tan France, like usual. Tan, he is just the sweetest person. Maybe one of my favorite people to talk to.
Starting point is 00:07:56 This is the second time we've gotten to talk to him. And every time it just gets better and better and he's like the sweetest human baby. He's just so sweet and you just feel so good after talking to him and listening to him. So I highly recommend that as well. So let's get into it starting off with the Jonas Brothers. The Jonas Brothers released their documentary on Amazon Prime Video. Yes. Chasing happiness. Chasing happiness in which, first off, amazing that they were able to put together a
Starting point is 00:08:29 documentary with film starting from when they were born to now. Oh, yeah. Their parents... They must have filmed everything. Their life was a reality show before reality shows. Like, I mean, my parents filmed a lot of shit that we did as kids. Like, we have so many home videos of us doing stupid shit, like, going down the slide. Am I about that?
Starting point is 00:08:54 Totally. They filmed everything. So much when they were little. So much when you're little. But the fact that it was consistent, it's actually amazing to me, like, as parents, that they did that. So for the OGs out there who will understand, like, they, when they first really blew up, they talked about it in the documentary, that they were making, like, kind of all these
Starting point is 00:09:20 little videos, they were going up on MySpace, you, whatever. It was kind of the beginning of that. And they put so many old clips from those things. into the documentary. It was amazing. Nick J's off the chain. Nick Tad had like this little talk show that they would do, like Nick J's show. And that was always very funny. I, you know, the tables have turned video that everybody talks about. Yeah, that's the famous one. Yeah. So they had all this old footage. It was really crazy. And it was so cool because this whole thing was directed by John Lloyd Taylor, the guy that I waived to at the show we went to. John Taylor. Yeah. And then I threw my hands up.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I was like, I don't know who you are, but I'm going to wave to you. Yeah. So he's been with them from the, like, from like the beginning. He was in, you played in the band, was out of all the shows, which was really cool that he kind of got to make this documentary for them, direct this documentary. But I really, it, it was such like an emotional roller coaster because it wasn't as much a Jonas Brothers documentary as a documentary about their relationship. Like the three of them as brothers who were also a boy band.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Right. Like it wasn't like boy band like fans, girls, media, like talking. Obviously it was all in it, but it was centered so much more about their upbringing, how they became a band, and then how they kind of fell apart as a band. And I think that's the fascinating part about it and the part that people really do forget most of the time is that they were brothers, their family. Like this is family shit. This is not any band that gets together.
Starting point is 00:10:58 break and they break up and they can go without talking to each other ever again. Like, this is your blood. So they really show that throughout the whole documentary. I want to talk about it from beginning to the end. So obviously they start off from the beginning. Yeah. You know, them growing up.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Nick was a star. Nick is. Nick was such a little star. It was unreal. All the clips of him in, you know, showbiz, Broadway. When he, there's a scene of him standing next to Papa Jonas. at the piano and they were like writing their own song, whatever. And he just is belting.
Starting point is 00:11:35 He's so small and he was so good. He did all these Broadway shows. Joe got jealous. Joe wanted to do Broadway shows. So they were all, it seemed like that competitiveness was obviously there. Like they were all like, well, if he's doing it, I want to do it. Yeah. I picked up on that.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Because Nick got noticed first. Right. So Nick got noticed first. Brought in the brothers. I think that Nick was a little less shy. when he was younger, it seemed like, because it seemed like in the Jonas brothers, like, Nick was the shy one. Yeah. Even in the episode of Hannah Montana, he's like.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah. And Miley's like, he's the shy, cute one or whatever. When he was younger, he was really flaunting it. Oh, my God. Robbie Fox just walked by with 20 McNuggets and a McClurry. And I could not be more jealous. Like, I'm raging right now. Holy fuck.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I'm starving. Okay. Anyways, back to Nick Jonas, not the McNuggets that were just beautiful passing by. He was the clear star when he was younger, but then it seemed like his personality changed a little bit. But you're right, Joe and Kevin, they were all salty. They were like, look at our brother getting all this shine. I want to get into it. I love how funny Joe is.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Joe has always been that fun, goofy one. I love his sense of humor. And I love the fact that he talked about, you know, doing fake comedy shows and, you know, doing a little bit of both music and entertaining, because you could really see that when you watch them perform. Joe is an entertainer. Yeah. It's so true.
Starting point is 00:13:09 But Kevin, I mean, Kevin got into commercials, so good for him. If you didn't come out of watching this documentary being a fan of Kevin, I don't know. Like, this is just, I think this, the band reuniting is such, obviously it's great for all of them, but it's so great. I think Kevin is so happy. and we'll talk about it as the band started to fall apart. But they had this insane rise. They were kind of like supposed to be a pop punk band almost when they were first signed.
Starting point is 00:13:38 And then it was just kind of like disaster struck. Like they, their label dropped them. Nick was sick. They found out that Nick had diabetes. It was like this whole kind of one thing after another. Their dad was so focused on the band. he was their pastor at their church, you know, they live two doors from the church. He kind of got pushed out of the church.
Starting point is 00:14:05 They had to leave their house. It was like one thing after another. Yeah, it was just everything was crumbling down. Until they got the call from Mickey Mouse. Until they got the call from Disney. And I almost thought it was like, you know, fuck all these people that thought, you know, this wasn't right thing to do. It wasn't the right path to go for and like, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:29 because they were so against the dad doing it, I feel like it was a fuck you to all of them. Like almost like it was meant to be that this happened. Totally. I mean, for Nick to say in the, for Nick to say that he, I watched it twice last night by the way. I watched it twice. I watched it twice. I watched it once
Starting point is 00:14:47 and then I watched the Jones Brothers concert experience from like 2009. And then I watched it again. Oh my God. You know to just a full Joe Brose thing. from like 7 p.m. to like midnight of just straight Jones brothers. But Nick had said, you know, that he doesn't feel comfortable in two places. And it's that church and that house. And like, that's it, which is obviously shows how they feel about it.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And they were making jokes that it was so nice when they went to go see the church. Well, before they went to go see the church, they were a dairy queen. They were in New Jersey. And then they got to the church and it was like a thunderstorm, clouds, rain. and they were like, this is the size. Right. And it was like a haunted movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Honestly. Like I got weird vibes when all of a sudden they were like on the property and then somebody was like, can't be here. And then it just had a weird vibe to it. It did for sure. But then the whole thing switched because they got the call from Disney. Columbia had dropped them. And they had made Year 3000 with a video.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Iconic song. Iconic video. They got to take it to Disney. And they took it to Disney and it blew up. And that's what made the. Jonas Brothers happen. And they said that they, every time they released an album, they would go to Times Square. Yeah. At, what was it, the 18?
Starting point is 00:16:03 Virgin Megastore. Of course. Okay. The Virgin Megastore. I'm not going to lie. You will to see if that thing was still open because I would totally go on Friday. Yeah. Because I'm like, do CDs? Can I even buy a CD anymore? Like, where would I go to buy the CD? Right. I have no idea. Is it still open? No. Well, to go to buy it. You just order it online. Yeah, I know. But you want to go to the store and buy it.
Starting point is 00:16:24 store and buy the CD, but I don't even think that exists anymore. Maybe like Target. I think I can maybe go to Target. Target. Target. Because I know they still sell CDs. Definitely. So maybe that's something I'll look into on Friday.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Hopefully they have it. Yeah. So they said that they would go to the place you mentioned. I forgot the name already. Yes. The Virgin Megastore. Yes. In Times Square.
Starting point is 00:16:45 And the first time they went, there was like eight people. Second time they went, there was about 30, 40 people. This time when they showed up. A little bit longer. came out, it was insane. It was insanity. They could not, I mean, the crowd in Times Square, the entire crowd in Times Square was for them. Like, it, these girls screaming their heads off and crying. And they're in the car and their genuine reactions to what was happening made me cry. I know. Like Joe freaking out. Kevin freaking out, Nick freaking out, all of their genuine reactions
Starting point is 00:17:23 to pulling up and seeing this just made me happy for them. Yeah. I don't know if you have seen the Josh Brothers concert experience movie. I'm going to take a guess that you haven't. So that stuff is in that movie too. Right. From when they go like a little bit longer, had just come out and they show those videos.
Starting point is 00:17:42 So they have a lot of clips from that. It was like that and also a Good Morning America appearance that was insane. I went to that show. And but that's like, that was like the catalyst. and then things got weird and you can even hear it. Kevin kind of being like talking about future music. I mean, like we kind of just have to think that this might not be as successful as a little bit longer, which was true, lines, vines and trying times. The album after a little bit longer was just not as successful as that one.
Starting point is 00:18:17 But it was just so cute seeing them in the car. They're road tripping. They're playing all these small. mall gigs. The clip of Kevin on the phone with Danielle in 2007 is maybe the greatest clip of all time. I don't know how they've been sitting on this clip where like Kevin never put that on his social media or anything, like on a wedding anniversary or something. I have chills. Like when I watched that and they were Nick and Joe are like rooting him on and I was like, Kevin's talking to his future wife. I was like, oh my.
Starting point is 00:18:53 God. It's so, like, how? How, how? We've not seen that. It was fumbling over his words. Kevin, good. They were like trying to get Kevin to say things. And when he was talking about, um, kept saying rocking.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Yeah, he's like rockin. See you later. Oh my gosh. He kept saying, um, you know, in high school, he got bullied and, uh, he couldn't get a date to save his life. And then when the Jonas brothers happened, him and Joe, like wingman. Yeah. And just seeing like him being like, yeah, I'll hit you up on my space.
Starting point is 00:19:22 I was like, let's go, Kevin. Hit them up on MySpace. Let's go. So funny. Between that and Kevin saying, like, when they first were kind of like, Nick was like the, besides being brothers, one thing that really brought us so close was girls. And like, yeah, when Nick met Miley, that kid's head exploded. That was my favorite part of the documentary. He said, that's when things really changed for girls for Nets.
Starting point is 00:19:52 exploded. Because I could see that. Yeah. Because it's Miley fucking Cyrus. She was an icon and he meets her. His head explodes and he writes love bug. He writes love bug about Miley Cyrus. Like how do you think Priyanka feels that now love bug is now painted in a light that it's about Miley Cyrus? Because I don't want to talk about Priyanka at all. She's barely in this documentary and that was the way. I thought we were going to go the whole documentary without her being in it. She's like at the towards the end. Yeah. And I was like, like, this. This is great. This focus this on the boys, on the guys, their bond. And that's kind of what happened. And then things like obviously got rough. They've been traveling the world together for the last year. And when they all got together in Australia, they said it was the first time the three of them had really been alone in like six or seven years. Like not with anybody else in their family or the kids or whatever.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Besides the cameras. Yes, obviously besides the cameras. but that was just crazy to me that it was like this whole thing they played a drinking game where like they picked questions out of the bowl drinking game was fun
Starting point is 00:21:03 Joe had to answer like if he has any resentment towards somebody and he told this story about like a ballerina who said that he had a small penis and I don't remember like I was watching it was like I don't remember this story
Starting point is 00:21:16 yeah they well he was very funny he was like the ballerina and then they were like Oh, they were dying laughing. They were like, because she said you had a small penis. And he was just like, yeah, she's, you know, and then whatever, the whole thing was funny. And then, you know, they talk about breaking up the band and how Nick really felt like he was, like, creatively frustrated. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:39 He was doing so many other things. Like, he was in New York. He did Broadway. He did Nick Jay and the administration. And he was just trying to do and make the music that he wanted to do. And I feel like that's fair. You know, like. you're not you know he didn't want to always be attached to his bellers he was feeling like hey
Starting point is 00:21:55 I want to go and try and make this and you're allowed to do that but then he felt okay the Jonas brothers is just not working out now like season two of Jonas like no this didn't work out oh god Jonas was so that show was so bad bad even Kevin was like that show was so bad he's like it's not good and Nick was like that show just totally stunted our growth we should have never done a second season yeah and that's kind of where he said you know I, like I said, he was frustrated creatively and he was like, I'm gonna, you know, I'm done here. I'm done with the Jonas Brothers. And Joe was not happy. Joe was, they said he was so pissed and he said, you want to be done. Fine, we're done. I cried. I mean, I cried multiple times. Not shocking. Not talking. I cried to. When Joe started crying because he, when he was just like, the worst part about it was that it came from Nick, who's, you know, he's my brother, but he's, he's, he's, my best friend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:51 And Joe was crying and I was like, oh my God, stop. I was so, it was so emotional. It made me love Joe even more because it was just so, like such real emotions. Joe really shined in this documentary, I think, because Joe has always, it just seems like Joe has always been fun along for the ride. He wants to play music. He wants to be in a band. They talked about him doing D&CE.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Like he got to explore creatively so much when he got to do. that but he was always down for like the Jones brothers like Nick had an issue Nick was struggling he wanted to do other things um they talked about how Kevin at that time just had different priorities he was married he the you know the band at that time didn't come first Nick and Joe didn't understand that because they were single and didn't give a shit so they they didn't really get that obligation uh Joe laid Joe laid down to Kevin pretty thick like when things when they broke up when they Joe roasted him. When they broke up, Joe and Kevin played a show.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Or multiple shows, a show, I don't know. As, like, Joe and Nick Jonas, they showed, like, the whatever, flyer or whatever it was that it said, you know, Joe and Nick Jonas. They told Kevin that he didn't have to be there. They would be playing, like, their solo stuff. And they played all Jonas Brothers songs. And just Kevin just wasn't there. And if Kevin wasn't there and he said he, he, he. was heartbroken and he was
Starting point is 00:24:21 shocked and that made me feel bad for Kevin. But what Joe said was he just straight up was like, yo, we felt like you were holding us back and you know, your piano, your guitar playing and slacking and you were focused on other things. He basically
Starting point is 00:24:38 roasted him for 10 minutes and then said carry on and Kevin just kind of tear it up and listen, the reality of it is Joe and Nick and Kevin are all very talented. But Joe and Nick are super talented.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Right. Front men. Singing, entertaining, front men. Not everyone's a front man. Kevin is not a front man. And that's just facts. So Joe gave him the facts as his brother. It was like, it's real.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Like, you're my family. I'm going to tell you straight up. Yeah. We thought you were old and I was back. It's, yeah, definitely. They moved past it. They're able to get back together. And then I started crying again at Kevin talking
Starting point is 00:25:19 about how his daughter told people that his, her dad was a Jonas brother, but she's never actually seen him perform. And when Kevin was like, she's never actually seen me be great. I was like, Kevin. Kevin. And he did the backflip on the trampoline.
Starting point is 00:25:39 And then he's like walking around a local New Jersey grocery store. I just. And he's like, people, he's like, every day people still ask me if I'm Joe or Nick. And he's like, and I'm Kevin. Oh, you're Kevin. I was like, you know what Kevin? Kevin. I was like, every concert we go to will be starting a Kevin chant from now on.
Starting point is 00:25:59 But I think a lot of people, Kevin's also had a glow up. Kevin looks great. Kevin looks great. The band's back together. They look great. And they're all married and in love. Exactly. Like Joe had a line where he kind of made it seem like he gets it now.
Starting point is 00:26:14 He's like, hey, I would do anything now to see Sophie for like an hour. So I get why your priority. were different. I just didn't get it then. I get it now. They had this brother meeting. They're in a good place. And then they started playing together for the first time again. At the end, I really thought that they were going to show footage from the show we were at. Because that was technically the first show that they did. They did the L.A. show, which was bigger, but it was not the first one. So I thought when it panned for a second, Hank was like, Hank watched it with me. He was like, is that? Are Are you about to see you guys?
Starting point is 00:26:51 I was like, oh my God, is this the show? Is this our show? And then it opened up and I was like, fucking L.A. I know. That wasn't the first show they did bad. No, it wasn't. We were way better of a crowd. That was a big crowd.
Starting point is 00:27:01 We were an intimate crowd. I know. I guess they wanted to show like that they still got a big crowd, you know. Fucking Jonas Brothers kind of put Fran and I in their documentary. What the fuck? Man, if only. Very funny. There was a clip of two girls that I knew growing up in like in high school.
Starting point is 00:27:18 I would have died. to see you, Fran. They were, like, young and little, like, just talking about how much they love the Jones Brothers and that part where they pan, like, from different fans. My God. If you were in it holding up a Nick as a Studmuffin poster, that would be the highlight of your life.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I have all those pictures. It was, it was very emotional, and it was, I'm so excited for this new album. And you could kind of get a taste there. It seemed like they played a couple new songs during the, during the documentary ones that we haven't heard. Like, it opened up. with a new song. I think it closed with a new song. They played a few of their really
Starting point is 00:27:54 of the oldies, like their first album, it's about time. And that was hit me home. They played Please Be Mine. They were talking about the Mandy video. I think I was so young that I didn't even realize. Like I had kind of jumped on around that time. Like I had loved Mandy. I remember watching the Mandy video so much. But I wasn't like watching TRL or anything like that. So I didn't even realize that that video had blown up so much that people were talking about them.
Starting point is 00:28:25 And then after that, they got dropped. And it was like so crazy. But Disney came and they made jokes about the purity rings. They talked about the South Park episode. Yeah. And it was funny because when Joe was talking about the South Park episode, he was like, they weren't too far off. Yes. And I do feel bad for them and the fact that they were like, Nick was like,
Starting point is 00:28:48 13 when they were talking about his sex life and being a virgin and he was wearing a purity ring but he was fucking. I know. They showed all those old like Russell Branclips that made me, that made me cringe. He was so young. So like, imagine being so, you're just a young boy and people are like, he's a virgin not having sex because he's dedicated with this purity ring. In 2008 and 2009, like arguably probably their biggest years, I was.
Starting point is 00:29:18 14. He was 16. Like, that was it. Like, they're like talking about purity ring, purity ring, like this gets 16 or so. Exactly. Exactly. It's, it would be weird. I saw before he was like, it would be an interesting thing in this day and age to see how people would react to other people talking about that. Because he was like, I think personally, I think it's weird. Right. But at the same time, they were, you know, people were making jokes about it. When they flashed to Russell Brand at the VMAs. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then it pans to them.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Yeah. And they're just so not having it. So over it. They're just so over it. And I just wish I could hear the true story of when they were like, fuck this. Yeah. And ripped off the ring and threw it off and just had sex. I know.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I wanted to hear about girls so much more in this documentary. I'm not going to lie. I was like, wow, no Demi Lovato, no Taylor Swift. I was like, we didn't even get anything from Demi Lovato. Demi played such a huge role. Right. And the Jonas Brothers blowing up Camp Rock, the maybe real, maybe fake relationship that she had with Joe. Obviously, look, this was filmed.
Starting point is 00:30:35 I'm guessing when Demi was not available. Right. So maybe they would have wanted her in it. But unfortunately, that was not possible. Well, the thing is, that's, thank you for bringing it up. because that's the thing that pissed me off about it was that Demi Lovato, didn't she bring them on tour
Starting point is 00:30:53 or she went on tour with them? She went on tour with them. There was like a camp rock tour. The George Brothers also did the best of both worlds tour. Right, right. And they did that. And it was like, how do you not even mention Demi Lovato's name?
Starting point is 00:31:04 Demi Lovato talks about the Jonas brothers and their dad and how big of a part they played in her life and her documentary and how he caught them, you know, having parties and whatnot. I know. Let's hear about that shit. I was actually a little salty they didn't mention Demi at all.
Starting point is 00:31:19 I was like, come on, give her some credit. She played a major role. Huge role. But other than not hearing enough about girls, that was really my only complaint. It was awesome. I'm so excited for this new album. I'm so excited for their show. I'm going to cry so much.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Me too. And honestly, I'm excited for that merch. I'm so excited for the merch. Hopefully we get confirmation in ships on Friday. This week. I'm going to be rocking so much Jonas Brothers merch. Me too. Those sweatpants are going to be so good.
Starting point is 00:31:47 friend. You know that one static electricity trick you learn in science class where you rub a balloon on top of your head to make your hair stand up? Well, let's just say thanks to frizz. For some people, your hair looks like that all summer long. If you're tired of frizz like I am and products that just don't work to fix it, you need to check out Living Proofs No Fris line. Let me tell you, I have been using the no frizz shampoo and conditioner. It has been working so well. on my hair when I blow dry it out. And summer humidity makes such a big difference. It kills your hair.
Starting point is 00:32:22 It kills your hair. But living proof only helps it. I also want to say that I use the living proof hair spray. And I sprayed it before. And Fran was like, is that perfume? Because the products smell so good. Their dry shampoo is amazing. Obviously now they have this no fris line.
Starting point is 00:32:39 That's amazing that we've been trying because obviously why would you not want a frizz solution in the summer? But yeah, like you said, smells. It's the best thing I've ever seen. All the products smell so good and the anti-frize works perfectly. Living Proofs no-frize system uses breakthrough scientific technology designed to keep frizz at bay. So your hair stays soft and smooth even on the days you don't wash and style. The no-fridge shampoo and conditioner work together to nourish and condition your fris-prone hair.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Plus, they repel dirt and oil, which means you can actually wash your hair less often. I've actually been doing that. Yeah. I really have. the no-frize nourishing styling cream, style smooth conditions, and eliminates frizz by blocking humidity without weighing hair down. And for your non-wash days, the no-frize humidity shield blocks frizz by providing additional weightless humidity protection to spray it on dry hair. The entire no-frize line is silicone, silicon, paraben, sulfate, and cruelty-free, which is one of the things I love about Living Proof. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Ditch the frizz and make the switch to Living Proof today by visiting Living Prove today by visiting Living-Frize, which is livingproof.com slash chicks and use promo code chicks to get 20% off any of their no frizz products. That's livingproof.com slash chicks. promo code chicks. So this disturbing video of Miley Cyrus walking out of her hotel in Barcelona with Liam Hemsworth in front of her came out a fan. I wouldn't even call it a fan at this point. Somebody, a creep. Yeah, a creep came out, attacked her, groped her, kissed her on the face. It was so disturbing to see somebody act that way. Like that is a human being.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Yeah. It's never okay to just, no matter who she is, who do you think you are? Right. Like you, she is a celebrity, but she's still a person. You can't just run up to somebody on the street and kiss them and run away. Like that's how you get arrested. Exactly. That is just like this person should have been arrested.
Starting point is 00:34:39 100% agree. And I think that, you know, Miley said it best herself When she explained like, listen, I am allowed to do this. I'm allowed to do that. She listed off. Do you have it?
Starting point is 00:34:52 Right, I have it. Because obviously, like, people have these reactions that are always so fucked up. And it's only ever with women because that's just what happens. Oh, well, maybe she should be wearing more clothes or maybe she shouldn't be saying this
Starting point is 00:35:08 or maybe she shouldn't be saying that and she shouldn't get attacked. Well, That literally has nothing to do with being groped or attacked. That's never okay, no matter what, no matter how you act, no matter how you're treated. You just can't do that. And she made that very clear. She was posting clips of, you know, news outlets that were talking about the story.
Starting point is 00:35:28 She said she can be wearing what she wants. She can be a virgin. She can be sleeping with five different people. She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked. She can't be grabbed without her consent. hashtag don't fuck with my freedom.
Starting point is 00:35:42 I mean, I feel like that is just a very powerful statement from Miley because it's true. I think it's so sick when people twist it around and say, oh, you know, she like, she posted a screenshot of Facebook comments. I think it was Facebook comments. And some woman wrote, you wanted to be sexy. What do you expect? Like, are you kidding me? Like that means a random person say that to other women. Like a random person.
Starting point is 00:36:10 on the street can run up to you? What if a person did that to you, lady? Yeah. Facebook commenter. Like you could be wearing a sheet right over your head and somebody will grab you and you're not going to like that. You're not going to like it. So who are you to say that?
Starting point is 00:36:24 If you are walking down the street as any person and somebody just comes up to you and gropes you and kisses you on the cheek, it's so not okay. And you're going to be mad about it. So the fucking commenters that want to say that that's okay are the reason why their commenters online. Because they're just as crazy. It's crazy to me that people think that way that like she, like the idea of she was asking for it.
Starting point is 00:36:49 It just could not be less true. She was just walking to ask any woman. There's never a moment where a woman's walking down the street regardless of what she's wearing where she's going to say, yeah, you know, I really feel like getting touched by a strange person that I don't know. Right. That doesn't happen. That doesn't happen.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I'm not walking down the street in my red blazer right now. Like, hey, I love this red blazer. Can a guy come grope me and kiss me on the cheek? No, thank you. It's so messed up. I just really hope that her security figures it out. Obviously, Liam was walking in front of her. Maybe he needs to be walking behind her.
Starting point is 00:37:24 He grabbed her, you know. After I had realized what happened. And like, it's just, it's messed up because she should not have to worry about being attacked, just like walking to her car. So it's like, I hate being like, oh, Liam should be behind her. But it's like, because she shouldn't have. to worry about it anyway, but it's so crazy. There's crazy people out there. So hopefully they get that organized and her security, make sure that, you know, that doesn't happen.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Please protect our queen. Yeah. That's it. Hello. Protect Miley at all costs. That's all we want. All right. We are here with Caleb. He has finally returned from his trip. He did his homework like promised. And, right? He did. He did. And now he has. He has something from Roan. Roan's homework. Roan's homework. Yeah, so Roan kind of traded place with me, and now he's traveling the world,
Starting point is 00:38:16 and he emailed me, which honestly props to him for taking time away from his trip to soon as he's mail. I can't believe he did that. Honestly, this proves the loyalty that Roan has to the show. And honestly, makes the contract even better. Makes it valid.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Yes. Now, he wrote me this email, and I just want to say two things. One, I'm going to read it, and I'll try to kind of, to read it, not in Rohn's voice, but in how I think you want me to read it. But two things. I haven't read it yet. And also I'm not a great, I'm not a great orator of reading and talking. You know what I'm saying? It's not my best thing. It's not my worst thing, but it's not my best thing.
Starting point is 00:38:54 It's not your specialty. That's fine. That's fine. So if I mess up some sentences. That's fine. You do you. All right. But you want me just read it? Yes. I think dive right in. This is Rone. Okay. All right. Well, hi chicks in the office. It's me, Rone. riding to you from thousands of miles beyond the overpopulated sewer that you all proudly call home. Today, my pen writes you from a city called Dubai. What Skid Row is for oily men, Dubai is for men who own oil. A promising oasis of skyscrapers and religious propaganda, there are many camels here, but few cigarettes.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Caleb would be happy. Oh, man. Okay. Keep going. I am wrapping up my week of summer vacation now Before I begin my week's sabbatical And ultimately conclude this trip with a 10-day furlough I like you chicks a lot
Starting point is 00:39:54 So I'll give you this tip for free As long as you do not share it with any of our bosses If you call a trip a sabbatical Instead of a vacation It denotes a religious context Which makes it increasingly difficult For superiors to interfere with Furthermore, if you bookend a sabbatical with a furlough
Starting point is 00:40:10 it implies the involvement of the American government, an institution no man or woman would voluntarily collude against. Although it is true that I will continue to be on the road for the next six to eight weeks, I do have a few notes about what I have seen in my travels thus far. Number one. The first stop of my trip was in a chain of islands called Turks and Caicos. When going somewhere new, I typically like to avoid chains. But frankly, the island of Australia was out of my budget.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Turks and Caicos is named after a particular type of cactus that I luckily did not come into contact with. However, that does not mean I was completely able to avoid all prickly situations. Upon arriving to the beach, one cannot help but notice the opacity of the ocean water. It is so clear that it really made me wonder why it appeared light blue when the sand under it was just white. A friend that I am traveling with explained to me that when you're around saltwater this pure, It is completely safe to drink. At first I was doubtful, but he convinced me by asking me if I ever drank water, to which I said yes, followed by asking me if I ever ate salt,
Starting point is 00:41:24 to which I also said yes. He concluded his argument by explaining that is neither the water nor the salt that is harmful, but the other pollutants that can find their way into our oceans. With the breeze at my back, I walked down to the shoreline and blissfully filled my cup, anticipating tasting the clear water with an equally clear conscious. After drinking two or three cut-fuls, I suddenly began to expunge my system through vomiting. Apparently, my friend was joking with me and didn't think I was that dumb. Well, I showed him.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Two. After Turks and Caicos, next up was Dubai. But in order to make the flights work, I had to make a stop. over at the Newark Airport just outside of New York City. The layover was four hours long, and I was still recovering from having my stomach pumped at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center back in Turks. Newark is a funny place. I think of it often because due to its international airfare, it is the first impression many foreigners have traveling to New York City. Excuse me. It is the first impression many foreigners traveling to New York City have of the United
Starting point is 00:42:38 States. I imagine when they see their plane as heading to Newark, they assume it's just a funny American way to say New York. I bet they're pretty surprised when they hail a cab and are subsequently in the back of a smelly car for over an hour before seeing the Freedom Tower. The best thing to me about Newark Airport is that it's not actually in Newark, New Jersey. Newark is a crime-ridden city, which features hardly any redeeming qualities other than dinosaur barbecue. A restaurant many small-minded people believe can only be found in the even worse city of Syracuse, New York. Okay. That's a direct shot at me.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Wow. Moving on. All in all, the layover was good, but that is likely due to the antitoxin medicine I received back in Turks. Number three. And it's the last one. Once I finally arrived in Dubai, I was immediately blown away. There are so many sheiks here that they actually sell white robes at the Hudson and booksellers in the airport.
Starting point is 00:43:37 You probably already know this because I tweeted it. But as I left Dubai International, I was given a 24-carat gold bar as a thank you for visiting the city. It felt like getting a signed baseball from Derek Jeter without having to blow him. By this point in the trip, I am beginning to pinch pennies and decided to book a Motel 6. Upon arriving, I realized that the Motel 6s in Dubai are not just motels. They are motels.
Starting point is 00:44:06 in the way black people say it. For example, instead of getting cigarette ashes in my room, the ashes were already turned into a phoenix, who, by the way, has proven to be an extremely friendly bird who is learning multiple sayings and catchphrases. He sits perched on my shoulder now as I write you this. I'm afraid I don't have much more to add, as I am still early in my stay here.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Tonight I plan to check out the nightlife scene and maybe even get my friend back by Thursday. telling him the sand here is safe to snort. Although, I must admit, he does seem pretty cavalier in his attitude about the safety of the products he is already snorting. Anyway, I miss you all, and I hope this letter finds you well. I hope you will remember me, but I won't hold it against you if you don't. Honestly, this trip is going to be so long, I won't be surprised if I completely forget
Starting point is 00:44:58 about all of you. Thoughts and cares, Rhone. Wow. Wow. I mean, A plus. Plus letter. It's a beautiful letter. It would have been even better if it came on like a legit postcard.
Starting point is 00:45:13 It pinned in the quill. Yeah. The fact that Rhone took out his time to write that letter for us and this show while being on vacation or not vacation sabbatical. Very well written. Very well written. And that was long. That was so long.
Starting point is 00:45:30 That was taking like three days to write. I am so impressed. And I think that the contract needs to be written. immediately. Yeah. This guy... I mean, we can't... Phenomenal job.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Phenomenal. It sounds like he's having a good time. I almost want him to go on sabbatical like every month so that he can send us letters like this. It's a wonderful letter. It's just a fantastic letter. I mean, A plus plus plus. That's what I would give it.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Wait, so whose letter you think was better? Mine or Rones? Roans. Roans seemed like he put a little bit more effort into his kale. Wow. I mean, we're just going to be honest. Yeah, I mean, it just... Yours was great.
Starting point is 00:46:05 And it had like a theme. which was nice. I really loved the theme. There was a connecting theme between each bullet point. You also were in like one. But do you think that his has like such different style? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:46:15 it was a different style. Do you think that his is so good that's almost like he's not having a good time and he's bored and so he's having to resort to writing knees? He's like pouring into his writing. Maybe. Maybe. No, I think he's probably just having the time of his life
Starting point is 00:46:27 and wants to share it. Share it with us. I mean, he saw Phoenix. Yeah. Yeah. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. Well, thank you, Caleb,
Starting point is 00:46:34 for sharing that letter from Roan. and you guys have completed your homework. So great job. And thank you, Roe. Wherever he is. Starting point is 00:48:12 to get the Father's Day package. My man, Pete Davidson, back in action. We haven't talked about Pete Davidson a little bit. In a while. He was my favorite person to talk about for quite some time. I love talking about Pete Davidson. So seeing this made me chipper as hell, Fran. Yeah. Pete Davidson had his runway debut, Alexander Wang. He's a supermodal. New York City. New York City with Kendall Jenner,
Starting point is 00:48:43 Kaya Gerber, all these supermodels, and fucking Pete Davidson walking down the runway. I mean, if you think he's a supermodel or not, like if he looks like one or not, it doesn't matter. Yeah. Because he is now a supermodel.
Starting point is 00:48:59 Yeah. Well, he is a male runway model. Yeah, okay, let's back up. Maybe not a supermodel. Oh, no, no, but he's a male runway model at this point. I was just trying to like say the word slowly and all together in one sentence because it sounds insane. Like Pete Davidson is a runway model for Alexander Wang.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Like he walked in the same show as Kendall Jenner. Apparently she didn't know that he was walking in the show. Her reaction is so funny. like she was asked about him walking and she was like oh my i didn't know oh my god like it was like it was actually very funny and then she was like she said kill it like do your thing i feel like he looks like a guy that has a lot of confidence and he could probably slay that's exactly what he did at one point he stuck his tongue out see that's the confidence you need i mean you didn't see this picture of him like no i did and honestly he looks pretty damn good in that picture in my
Starting point is 00:49:56 opinion. Like, I don't know. You can hit on Pete, David's all you want, but that looks like a cool model to me. Runway, Pete's pretty hot. Runway Pete's pretty hot. Runway Pete is looking good. And the fact that Kendall said, I feel like he slays. Yeah. I mean, like, she's not wrong. You definitely slays.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Kendall and Pete. He agrees with us. Next couple. We did say, we did say that a super model could be the next move. Well, I, well, now this this really makes it more clear that it's going to be a supermodel. He's in the, he's in the industry now. Yeah. Just think about these words, Fran. Pete Davidson. S&L star, comedian, model. Yeah. Pete Davidson, model.
Starting point is 00:50:34 It's crazy. Alexander Wang told Enews that he's been trying to work with Pete Davidson for a while now. He said that at first, he goes, I just texted him and was like, how did you feel about walking the show? And he was like, sure. So he said, I thought it was going to be a little bit harder than that, but he was really into the idea. The whole time, I was just thinking he was going to back out or get too nervous or something. But he was such a team player. He killed it. He was so good. I was really lucky to have him. That's so sweet. And he's so he's a hard worker. He's a great, he's just, great model. Punctual showed up. They thought maybe he would flake. Imagine. There he is. Imagine we see Pete Davidson, New York Fashion Week, like he's just dominating the runway. It's really crazy. Like that would be insane. I guess other, I guess other like
Starting point is 00:51:22 fashion houses are probably going to reach out to him, right? Yeah. I mean, he walked in Alexander Wang. If they see those pictures, they're going to say, if they're into that look, you know, because he has the tattoos and everything. Yeah, yeah. It's a very distinct look for sure. Sometimes designers are not into that for their models, stupid, whatever. But, hey, I think it looks great. Yeah, definitely. And I'm, I'm pretty stoked about this because if we're going to get Pete Davidson just modeling on the runway, I think it's hilarious because I think Pete Davidson is the person you would expect the exact opposite from. Right.
Starting point is 00:51:59 I don't think Pete ever thought he would end up in this place. But if Alexander Wang asks you to walk in your show and in the show, you say yes. Of course. Of course.
