Okay. Anyway, we are back, guys. Happy Friday. We are back and we are filled with the joy of the Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Can I just, okay, I'm going to pray. Guys, I want to pray with you. Lord, we just honor you, God, we thank you for another day. We thank you for all the ways that you have given us breakthrough or currently working on breakthrough right now. God, I thank you that you are a faithful God. You are such a faithful God. And I thank you that in the times that we are in the valleys,

you are with that, you are with us in that, but you are also with a valley means that there is another mountain top. And so, God, I thank you for the hope of the gospel. I thank you for the hope that is in who you are, Jesus. I thank you that you are literally living, breathing hope. God, I plead the blood of Jesus over every single one of our lives. God, I thank you for the protection of the blood. I thank you for the protection of just angels being around us everywhere that we go, God. Thank you that we are highly favored and loved by you because of the sacrifice that your son has made. Father, we love you. We honor you today, God. I ask for you to just have your way in this episode, Jesus. Thank you for breath in our lungs. Thank you for today, God. I thank you for the way that you

are working things, all things out for your good and for your glory. Jesus, we ask you. We tell, we say, hey, God, we say, God, have all of the glory. It's all of yours. And so we seal this in the blood. God, we thank you so much. In Jesus' name, we pray all these things. Amen. Guys, so grateful for God today. I don't know about you all, but he's so good. He's so faithful. And I'm really excited to sit with you guys today. I would love to talk about obedience. Yay. Obedience is the best. It's my favorite thing. It's sometimes really hard for us as people because we just, you know, we want to do our own thing and we can be prideful and we can be self-righteous and we can think that we know all the things when we just so

clearly don't. But I don't want to talk about just any old obedience or simple obedience. I mean, I want to talk about the obedience that it takes with Jesus that nobody sees. I want to talk about how God truly, truly honors the hidden. I saw a quote on Instagram. This is from Julian Adams. He's incredible. And he posted something on Instagram and it says, when no one else claps, heaven still sees you.

The unseen yes. The quiet endurance. The secret obedience you keep showing up with. He has not missed a single seed. In a world obsessed with visibility, God honors the hidden. That kind of faith builds roots and not platforms. And roots are what sustain revival. You're not forgotten in the waiting.

You're being formed in it. Keep sewing. The fruit always comes. And so I am obsessed with that. And I would love to expand further off of that because I think a majority of our relationship with Jesus is what we do with him in the hidden. And how much that truly moves God's heart, how much that matters to. to him. And also, I think we need to be reminded of what truly matters, which is what God

sees and what he thinks. And so even when people don't see it all, man, I know that that can maybe seem a little ironic coming from somebody like me where it feels like a lot of my relationship is displayed online. And I will say a good proportion of it is, but actually, this isn't even half or a quarter or a third of what God sees and moments I have with Jesus and time that I spend with him. And that's not me boasting in myself. That's just the truth. Like a majority of our relationship and the things that we do for God and with God should be personal. And it shouldn't always be on display. I am okay with the parts of my life that is on display as an offering to the Lord where I'm like, God, if I have to sacrifice having privacy in parts of my life for it to give you glory

and for it to also inspire other people, so be it. That's the thing. It's like, I'm like, God, however you want, if you want to display parts of my life that I would like to keep secret, that's, it's for you. Like, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for him. So there are parts of my journey with Jesus that, I mean, everybody's seen and that's okay. I believe that God wants to use it for that reason, for that purpose. But there are a lot of parts of my relationship with Jesus that are not on display. I love this. The statement that stuck out to me the most in what Julian had wrote is that in a world obsessed with visibility, God honors the hidden. Like, especially in our generation with like social media and all the things, it's like,

we are obsessed with sharing online. We're obsessed with visibility. We're obsessed with that instant gratification. We're obsessed with like, oh my gosh, I just got a revelation from God. I have to tell everybody about it. Oh my gosh. I just got like this dream. I need to tell everybody about it. And it's like, we're obsessed with visibility and being heard and seen. And it's like, it's never been more than it is now because of social media and how quickly we can communicate things and put things on display. It wasn't always as easy to put everything about our lives on display as it is now because of social media. So yeah, I would just love to expand more on that and like what it truly means to be obedient to Christ where it's hidden. And it's not always seen

or appreciated by other people. Because the truth of the matter is that people can see things, for sure, but God sees what others don't. God sees everything. And so the small unseen acts of faithfulness, like prayers that are whispered in your room, choosing integrity when no one is watching, resisting temptation quietly, are noticed by him, even if no one else acknowledges them. And I think that that is a beautiful way to practice humility and also for there to be conviction in our hearts of like, why am I doing this? Am I doing this only for the opportunity for people to say, wow, you're amazing. Wow, that's great. Wow, you're so godly. Look at how humble you are. I actually think that it takes so much humility

to do things in obedience when you know that there's a chance that you probably won't get any praise from people about it. Not saying that those things are necessarily bad. I do believe that there's a time and a place to be the example and to walk like Christ and let people witness that. But there is such a heart check where it's like if these people, weren't around, would I still be just as satisfied and happy to do it? It says in Matthew 6.6, your father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Hidden devotion is precious to God. He cares more about the sincerity of your heart than about outward display. A hidden life of prayer, obedience, and worship, even when unnoticed, brings him so much joy because in that he,

He knows that your heart is genuine and it is pure. There's nothing pure, genuine about a heart that's only willing to do the right things when it means that other people are going to know about it or see it. And again, I'm not saying that that's a bad thing, but if that is truly the motivator, I think God wants to know that your heart is motivated by loving him and pleasing him and that you fear him. Like you value what he says is the right thing to do. And so no matter what, whether people are looking or not, that's what you're going to do.

It's like that is the purest form of obedience. It's like your heart is sincere because the only one you're looking to please is him. And so if you're willing to do that with an audience of just him, that brings him so much joy. I think that shows the Lord that you are loyal. You're a real one. You believe in who he says he is. And you believe that his opinion and any praise that you're, that you could get only matters if it comes from him. Any reward that comes from God is the only

reward that matters. No reward that you could ever get here on earth or from other people. There's that scripture. Is it Matthew 6? Is it like right around Matthew 66 about fasting? There's a scripture where Jesus is like, oh yeah, trust me, they got their reward when they're walking around being all, oh, I'm so hungry, you know, when we're fasting, like letting everybody know that they're hungry and they're fasting and they're making this sacrifice for God. And then everyone looks at them and they're like, wow, what a godly, godly man. What a godly person. Look at them fasting and doing all that for God. But like Jesus is like, oh no, I know what's in their hearts and they got their reward, meaning their reward of what they wanted was for people to look at them in adoration and go,

oh, wow. Wow, look at how godly and special they are. He's like, oh yeah, they got their reward. but the real reward is Jesus. The real reward is that intimacy with God, is that genuineness with Jesus. So speaking about intimacy, secret surrender forms true intimacy. A relationship with him is most real when it's not about impressing others.

The secret place is where intimacy with Jesus deepens and he honors that quiet faithfulness. So it actually allows us to have true, true intimacy with Jesus if we are valuing the secret place. And it is like it is a place where we really can truly deepen in intimacy with Jesus because it's just you and him. And it's not a relationship with him to just simply impress others. I think that's what made the Pharisees.

The Pharisees is that their relationship with God and their knowledge and their wisdom. Yeah, it was all good and it was great. But it also goes back to that scripture where Jesus is like, yeah, turn away from me for I actually never knew you. I never knew you. And I see a lot of Christians being like, that's my biggest fear ever, is like Jesus being like, sorry, you were never mine. I think a lot of people read that and they're like, oh my gosh, like, what if I get to the gates of

heaven and I see Jesus and he says that to me? The only way Jesus would ever say that to you is if you truly didn't have any kind of intimate relationship with him. And it was exactly what this says. A relationship with him that is most real when it's only to impress others. and it wasn't actually something that you valued in secret and you didn't go to him when no one was looking and like if your heart was only in a place of like declaring Jesus as Lord to impress other people or to want to be like whatever it is you wanted to look like I think that's the only way he would turn

you away and be like yeah I never knew you because when he says for I never knew you was like we were never friends you never actually got into the secret place with me you never never actually were intimate with me. You never allowed me into your heart. You were never vulnerable with me. You didn't allow any type of, yeah, intimacy, friendship, like true love. There was no love between the two of us. Like, you wouldn't even let me in. So, I mean, no, for I never knew you. You never, even though my name was on your lips, your whole life, you never let me in. And so that is what I believe that scripture means. is like your relationship with me was more so to either please others.

It was performative. You wanted to impress other people. You wanted people to believe that you were so godly. But you lacked something that was so important. And maybe it seemed small to you. But it is the very, very thing that matters most to God, which is true intimacy and that quiet faithfulness that really honors him. Like he just wants to be close to you.

He wants to be close to your heart. He wants you to feel vulnerable with him and safe with him. He wants friendship. Okay, this one's a good one too. I like this. His treasures motivates, not just actions. We can do the quote, right things publicly. But Jesus honors the hidden motive of love for him.

A simple unseen act of kindness fueled by love for Christ carries eternal weight. That's another thing that I think we need to remember about hidden obedience or quiet obedience. obedience, intimacy, relation with Jesus when people aren't always looking, is that there is something forever about the treasures that God has for that, the fruit that comes out of that, the way that it will obviously bless you and your relationship with Jesus, but it could also potentially bless other people, or you could be actively blessing other people when people aren't looking,

you know, acts of kindness, generosity. compassion, empathy, and those acts are everlasting, infinite. They are eternal. The weight of that like secret obedience is eternal. And I don't think we remember that enough as Christians. It's like it's not even just in that moment. Like whatever it is that we're doing in obedience in secret, in that moment, like when we're choosing to do the right thing, when we're choosing to do the obedient thing, it is eternal. The effects of, of that obedience and, making those decisions with God and being like, yeah, God, this, I'm just going to show up and I'm going to be faithful. Now I don't care who's looking. The treasures are eternal in heaven.

And anything that we could get outside of the treasures that Jesus has to offer, like if it's the treasures of the world or the treasures from other people, it's so temporary. All of it is so temporary. Even the praise of man is like just in that moment, just in that moment, maybe a few days, whatever, but the praise of man is so fleeting. Anything in this world that you could get in return of that, like, the right thing that you did in that moment is over within moments, seconds, minutes. But the things that we do for God in obedience, whether it's in the public eye or it's in secret, whatever, whether you're, you know, doing it in the workplace and everyone

sees it. That too is eternal. But like, it's that kind of obedience. regardless of the circumstances that lasts forever. What's hidden shapes what's revealed. That's really good. Often God uses the hidden seasons, our private devotion,

or unseen obedience to prepare us for what will eventually be visible. Jesus honors that hidden foundation. This makes me think about our spiritual growth. All of us, believers individually. It's like, there is, so much shaping, there is so much refining, there is so much pruning that God does in each and every one of us. And I think a majority of that has to happen in secret. A majority of that happens when you're alone with Jesus. And so it's actually really cool because it is the hidden times with

Jesus that actually shapes what we look like, what's revealed, right? The final product of who we are. And so you guys seeing the version of me now versus the version of me when I first started this podcast or the version of me where I had just come to Jesus for the first time is very different. And that's not because of the time that I've spent on the podcast with you guys. That's not what's shaped me. That's not what's reformed me. What's shaped me and reformed me, refined me, pruned me, is the time that I've spent alone with Jesus. is the times that I have been so vulnerable, like literally heart open, open heart surgery, like God, ow, ow, but I'm going to walk through this season with you because I want to grow with you.

I want to continue to be sanctified into the woman that you've created me to be. I want to be the woman of God that you've created me to be. I want that. And so if I want that, I have to want you. And I have to want you more than I want anything else. that is where true transformation comes from is truly wanting Jesus above all else, above what anything else of this world could give you, above what people could say, above any money you could make, any praise that you could receive, any way that you could

look online, like you have to want Jesus more than everything else. And that's where the transformation comes from. And that is truly a heart posture that I have been in in the past two and a half years. is all I've wanted is Jesus. That's all I've wanted. And because all I've wanted is Jesus, I look back and I see the way that in those times of being hidden with him, it has actually shaped me and it's revealed.

Now here I am. And this isn't the final product. God is still going to, he's still got a lot of things, I'm sure. I'm going to be growing still. But like that, that is truly just the grace of God. It's his mercy. It's his love. like it's his willingness to walk with his children.

That only, that has to happen in secret with him. That has to happen when you're sitting alone with him and you're talking with him and you're studying his word. It can happen in community too, but like I really believe that the most change that can happen within ourselves to the point where it's like outward, it is an outward thing that is very obvious, like it's obvious that Ali has changed. It is obvious that I have been made new. and it's like that it comes from wanting Jesus above all else that that comes from only wanting him that

comes from spending time with him and even not not even like focusing so much on all the ways that I wanted to change because I think the thing is too is like I didn't even know the ways that I needed to change and even now there are things that God has refined me and has walked me through or is currently walking me through that I didn't even know needed to change or I didn't even know that certain minds. mindsets needed to go or that there were ways that he needed to mature me even more. There's there, there's always an opportunity to be matured as well spiritually by Jesus. And I believe that that's been something he's walked me through. And I didn't even know. I didn't even know. Yeah, it's crazy. I've said this plenty of times on the podcast, but it's like you just look at Jesus and all you want is

Jesus. The next thing you know you're going to turn around, you're going to be a completely different person. And and you're going to realize that you actually didn't even have to do a whole lot other than just wanting him. So yes, there's there is an obedience that that, that, has to be made in the secret with Jesus, but that obedience is just showing up, saying yes, and letting him into your heart. That's it. Saying yes. And being like, okay, yeah, yes, God, yes, I want you, Jesus, I want you above all else. And if there are things, humbly, if you're like, no, there are things that I still care more about Jesus and I don't like it, that is a beautiful thing to bring to him and say, yeah, help me with this because I don't want to care more about

this stuff than I do about you, God. I feel like a Pharisee, and I'm sick by it. Can I also just share that like if there are things that mean more to you than Jesus and you know that it's not right and it disgusts you, can I tell you that that's a really, really good sign that you aren't too far gone? And that's actually a really good sign that your heart is pure. Like I want to just like denounce any lie of the enemy that's trying to tell you that because you still let fear of man creep into your life and you still let, you know, the ideas of what people think about you affect you. And it bothers. you, like that is a clear indication and a clear sign that you will be delivered from that because your heart isn't hardened. Like, you're not numb to it. I would be concerned for you if that didn't bother you. Truly. Like, if you were like, I don't see the problem in that. I don't get it. What do you mean? Why can't I care what people? Of course, I need to care what people think about me. Like, that's how I'm supposed to get by. Of course, I have to give what the people want. How else will I succeed? Like, if that's your mindset, then I'm a friend.

and I'm praying for you and your heart has been hardened to the truth. But if it makes you sick and you're like, no, I know that this has to change in my life and you're frustrated by that, I want you to know that you will be healed in Jesus' name. You will. You will. Just because you haven't been fully delivered from it yet doesn't mean you won't be. And I think the hardest thing has actually already been done, which is like you see it, you're disgusted by it, you don't want it anymore and you're begging Jesus to get rid of it. That's a really good sign.

I think that that's the most important thing is being aware of it and knowing that it's wrong, not only knowing that it's wrong, but like you don't want it anymore. There are some things that we can operate in and we know it's wrong and we don't care. But like if that's how you feel, there's hope. There's hope. And I have so much faith that you will be delivered by that thing and you will not struggle with it anymore. You will not struggle with, you know, putting your worth in performance or achievements or whatever that looks like, you will be delivered from that because it's so clear that your heart

is soft to that. If it makes you angry or if it makes you disgusted or if it's something you know you don't want and you're being prayerful to Jesus about it, he's working on you. He's working on you. Jesus honors what is hidden. And in another way of saying that, it just means that he sees the heart, the prayers, the sacrifices, the obedience that nobody else sees and he values them deeply. sometimes even more than visible acts of faith. Now that we've kind of talked about, you know, the concept of what it means to be obedient and how God really honors the hidden, right? We've talked about it of what that could really mean,

but maybe we could use some examples of what that would actually look like in our lives. And so an example of how this could look in our lives is hidden faithfulness in prayer. And it could be as simple as praying for somebody who you will literally, never know. And this could be as simple as praying for somebody who will never know that you prayed for them. It could be a stranger. It could be somebody near and dear to you, but like doing those things where you're like, this is just between me and God and this person will never know that I've prayed for them. You may never, it could be a stranger and you can never ever see the fruit of that prayer in this lifetime of what that could have done for that person or their life.

Crying out to God about struggles you don't share with anyone else. That's another really beautiful example of how you can have that intimacy and obedience and faithfulness with God in the hidden is like trusting that telling God about whatever it is that that struggle is and begging him for him to come through believing that that is enough sometimes you know where you're like I actually don't know who else to talk to about this I don't know where else to go God I need you I need you to come through I think it's a lot I don't know if anyone relates to this I know I've fallen to this sometimes, but like, let's say you're going through a really hard time and you're struggling with something or you're going through a hardship or a hard season and you're telling everyone in

your life about it and you're seeking comfort, you're seeking validation, you're seeking solution from other people. And the thing is, it's like, we've said this before, but like the body is for a reason, you know? I mean, the two most important commandments that God says is to love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, and soul and to love others as you love yourself. And so loving each other, supporting each other, being there for each other, especially when it comes to the body of Christ, that is what the church is for. We are supposed to be different and even says in scripture that the world will know that we are Jesus is, by the way that we love one another. We are supposed to love the world. But also, like, for us to love each other and be there for each other is very much a thing.

And that is something that God has created us for, is to help each other, to uplift each other. And so that's all good. But I think sometimes we can go to that. quicker than we do to God. And we rely on, you know, talking and having all these conversations and getting relief from that somehow, but from whatever feedback people could give you, answers, solutions, validation, whatever, great. But then we completely forget to go to God. And I think that that could be a really beautiful way to grow more intimacy with Jesus is by being like, all right, God, before I go running all around town, telling everybody about how stressed out I am, about how anxious I am, and then to have them talk me down, which could work, could not work.

There have been plenty of times where I've done that. I'm like, I still don't feel good. It's like, yeah, because you probably should have just gone to God about it first, Al. You probably should have just let God speak truth into you, you know? I'm not saying God can't use other people and speak through other people. Of course he can, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, though. Like, we can't put up. other people and what they could say or even the wisdom of others above what God could say. And so crying out to God about struggles that you don't share with anyone else is a beautiful way to practice, you know, hidden faithfulness to him in prayer.

Choosing to intercede when you could scroll or distract yourself. I have done this so many times and I've had to resist my flesh of like, well, I just don't really feel like praying right now for that person or like, I don't know. I'd rather not intercede about this and I just want to distract myself with other things. And I mean, it could be for other people. It could be for your life. It could be for anything. Like there have been so many times where I've felt such a pull to be interceding for something.

And I'm like, I'm just like, I don't feel like it right now. It's just too much effort. Our flesh is literally so weak. Our flesh is so weak. It's honestly annoying. Like so many times my body, my brain has been like, oh, speaking words out loud is so effort. I'm like, it's so not effort, girl. It's so not.

It's not that hard. So I've had to literally push through the way that my flesh resists wanting to just like intercede and pray about a situation, whether it's about myself or something else. And as soon as I get into it, it's crazy the way that the spirit just starts flowing out of you. And you're like, oh, yeah, no, this is why I need it to pray about this very thing. So choosing to intercede when you could just scroll or distract yourself is a beautiful way

to practice that hidden obedience and faithfulness with the Lord. And I think the reason that he honors hidden prayers like that so much is because it shows that we trust him. Ooh, this is a good one. Another opportunity would be to choose honesty when no one would ever find out if you actually lied or not. Yeah. Yeah. There are times where you could easily get away with lying about something and no one would know. Which like I'm just kind of like, I don't know if I actually even really believe in that statement.

because I do believe that it's, I mean, it says in scripture that God says that everything done in darkness, it will be brought to the light. And so I think that that is God's way of saying, hey, you want to lie about something? You can lie about it, but it doesn't stay in the dark forever. And so, yeah, I mean, it's just best to not lie. It's silly. And everything will be brought to the light anyway. But let's say, hypothetically, maybe that individual or that person will never find out. Choosing honesty when no one would ever find out that you were lying is a beautiful way to honor.

God because he, he knows for sure. He knows. Even if other people could never find out that you lied, he does. And so I think that that's when like fear of God really has to fall on us and be like, yeah, but he sees everything and he knows everything and he hears everything. And so I actually am not going to do this, even though I know I could technically get away with it because no one would see it, but God did. And I care about what he thinks. And I care about what he says. And I know that he says that this is wrong, even though I could probably get away with it. I can't really get away with it with him and I want to please him and I want to do what honors him and I want to make him proud you know I think it's also just like caring enough to be like no I want to make God proud and I want to

be able to get to that place one day when it's my time to go where I can look him in the eye and he can be like yeah I saw that I saw that and I saw the temptation for you to lie and be dishonest in that moment and honestly you never would have gotten caught but you chose not to do it because you knew that that wouldn't please me and I want to want you to know I love you so much for that. And I have a reward for you. I have treasures here for you in heaven because of it. And I'm obsessed with you. Thank you for honoring me and loving me and thank you for fearing me. Thank you for caring enough about what I say and caring about what I think. He's obsessed with that. And so that's the reward for me personally is just being like being able to look God in the

eyes and getting to hear those words from him where he's like, no, I saw that. I saw that when no one else did. And I'm so proud of you. I didn't forget it either. That's the thing is he needs. never forgets anything that we do for him. He won't forget those moments, whether they're little or small, whether they're hidden or they're on display. Like, he will always know your heart in it and he will always honor it and he will always remember it. Quietly forgiving someone in your heart instead of holding a grudge. That one is a hard one. That one can be a hard one sometimes for us. And I think that that is one that we can get the strength from God for. We have to get the strength from God for. I actually don't believe full forgiveness can happen unless you get it from the strength

of God. Like any times that I've forgiven people in the past, I think I've just kind of chosen to forget about it, but I don't know if I actually ever fully received freedom in my heart over those things and was really able to get to a place of true, true, authentic genuine forgiveness. And so I think that's only something we can do through the power of the Holy Spirit. But yeah, that's a beautiful way of truly forgiving people in your heart, whether they know it or not. whether you voiced it to them or not, but like God sees that heart change. And a lot of people, even when people can't witness it, he sees that. Hidden acts of love, an example of what we could do for that too, is encouraging someone

anonymously or giving without recognition. Serving at church is a beautiful way. Serving at church in a small way, this could be like stacking chairs, cleaning, setting up that isn't spotlighted. Speaking kindly to someone who can't repay you, that's really good. Jesus said when we give in secret the Father sees and rewards it. It's Matthew 6, 3 through 4. And lastly, hidden surrender.

This one is really good. So choosing to spend time with God instead of chasing approval or productivity, laying down a dream before him and saying, your will, not mine, without anyone else knowing the cost, handing him your private fears, doubts, and sins, trusting that he won't waste them. These hidden exchanges become treasures of intimacy between you and him. The big idea here is that the hidden place is where your roots grow deep in Christ. Others might only see the fruit later, but Jesus sees and honors the unseen root now.
