Christ With Coffee On Ice - i really want freedom from anxiety
Episode Date: November 1, 2024Hey y'all ! Welcome to another Friday with CWCOI ! In this week's episode, our host, Ally Yost felt prompted by the Lord to just sit and have real, vulnerable conversation together. We talk about what... it looks like to deal with anxiety as a Christian in today's generation. If you or someone you know has dealt or struggled with anxiety, just know there is freedom to be had. When we walk with Jesus and open our hearts to Him, there's so much freedom in that and you hold authority with God. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Hello everybody. Welcome to another episode of Christ with coffee on ice. I am your host,
Aliost, and I am so honored and excited to be here with you guys today. Happy Friday. I hope that
you all are feeling blessed. I hope that you are feeling the presence of God. I definitely am.
I feel the peace of the Lord right now. I'm really grateful for this episode. I'm very grateful
for every single listener that is just tuning in right now. I truly believe.
bless you all. I also want to just thank anybody and everybody who has been donating to the podcast.
I know that we've been playing that little commercial in the middle of each episode,
but that really has blessed me more than you know. And so just know that I see every single
dollar that's been donated. And you guys are so sweet because it's through PayPal, so there's
away for you all the right little notes. And so a lot of you guys are just sending your love and
your blessings alongside as you're, you know, with your donation, you're writing these sweetly
little letters and notes to me. And so just know that I see it and I appreciate it so much. Thank you
for supporting this podcast aside from just listening to it. But for donating and giving, that is
beyond generous of you guys. So I just have to thank you guys for that. Yeah, I'm really excited for
this episode. I don't really know what to expect. I feel like I just kind of sat down and I just
really surrendered the episode to the Lord. And so I just pray that he speaks.
and that he brings peace to his children today.
And I woke up today this morning, if my voice sounds a little funny.
I'm not sure what's going on.
I don't know if I'm sick, but I woke up with like a really raspy voice.
And so I feel fine for the most part, but it's like my voice.
That's really being affected right now.
But I didn't want that to stop us from being able to commune today and be with the Lord.
So I just thank the Lord for just giving me the strength.
And you guys can understand me.
Like, honestly, this is way better than what I sounded like when I first woke up this morning.
It was a bit scary.
So we're good.
We're good.
We're pushing through.
And I'm really expecting for what the Lord is going to do today.
We have our coffee on ice.
Gorgeous.
I actually topped it off with some, like, pumpkin spice type.
It's kind of like cinnamon.
But I don't know.
It's got like a pumpkin spice twist to it because it's giving festive.
So my coffee is pretty.
pretty good today. It's all right. We have our coffee on ice and we have our Christ. We actually
have communion. I feel we're supposed to do communion today. Again. Yay. So be prepared to take
the body and the blood today with me. I'm really excited. Oh my gosh, y'all. I just have to tell you,
I was meeting someone the other day just like a friend was introducing me to a friend and they asked me
what I do for work. And so a lot of times I'm just like, oh, I have the podcast, you know,
because that is kind of the main. Like, this has really genuinely become a huge main in my life,
like a huge focus of what I do almost full time. So I always just say podcast, you know. And so I told
them the title, obviously, you know, Christ with coffee on ice. And this person is a dad.
So I feel like his mind just went straight to like kiddo mode. But he thought it was like Christ with
coffee on ice, like Disney on ice? You know, like we're ice skating? I was like, can you imagine?
Can you imagine we're on an ice rink with coffee and our Bible? That feels a bit overplayed and overdone,
but I don't know. Maybe we do that for an episode just to be a little punny. I am completely
kidding, actually. I don't see us ever doing that, but I just thought that was so funny. I was like,
wait, that actually is a way to interpret it, I guess. Christ with coffee on ice. Anyway,
would love to jump into communion with you guys. And I think something really important to do when it
comes to our heart posture, when we come into communion, is to really ask the Lord and allow him to
analyze our hearts. Because I think something that's very crucial with communion is repenting.
We always have something to repent for. We are not perfect. There's always something we can repent for.
So before taking the body and the blood, it's always good to just ask the Lord and say, hey God,
Is there anything I need to repent from?
Is there anything that I need to bring to your feet?
Is there anything that I've been doing out of my flesh that I didn't realize?
I think taking communion is also a really great opportunity to just surrender
and really allow the Lord to work on our hearts and reveal things to us
that maybe we weren't able to see because we've been moving too fast.
It's just a really great time to slow down and really appreciate him
and just hear him, surrender to him,
And it's just a really great opportunity to express our love and gratitude to the Lord.
So let's do that together as a family.
I encourage you guys to grab some bread and maybe some juice,
just anything that would be appropriate representation of the body and the blood.
And I will lead us into communion together.
Lord Jesus, I just thank you so much for my brothers and my sisters who are listening right now, God.
I thank you for bringing us together as a body.
Lord, I thank you that each and every one of us have a very specific rule in the body.
We have arms, we have legs, we have fingers, we have toes.
And so, God, I just thank you that each body part serves such a purpose.
And so, God, I just encourage and uplift my brothers and sisters right now in who you've made them to be.
and I just rebuke and I command any spirit of comparison that has tried to creep in the minds of
anyone who's listening right now, whether they're an arm and they're a really great arm,
but they're comparing themselves to a leg, Lord, I just ask that you reveal to them that they
are exactly who they're supposed to be because you made them that way and that the body can't
function well if each part is not operating to what it's supposed to, that there is a purpose to each
and every part that makes the body, even if they can look really different from one another.
So, Lord, I just thank you for the unity in the body. God, I thank you for the unity of the church.
And Lord, I ask for more of that. I ask for more unity within the Christian community and within
the church, Lord. I pray against any tactics of the enemy that is trying to cause.
any type of separation, division, and bitterness towards one another, Lord, I just pray for more love
within the church. God, we come in agreement right now together, praying for more love and unity.
And God, we just repent for any comparison that maybe we've fallen to, Lord, any judgment against
other Christians that God, you have told us to call each other higher but to also love one another.
and so God I just really uplift the church right now.
I really uplift the body and I pray for the hearts of the ones who are listening,
knowing that they have security in you and that you have made them for a very specific purpose.
Now I just want to give you guys a moment to ask the Lord to examine your hearts
and just repent for anything that you feel he's put on your heart to just bring to him and surrender.
So I'm just going to give you guys a few seconds to do that.
it with you as well and we can just kind of silently do that with the Lord. Jesus, we thank you for the
body. We thank you for the blood, God. We thank you for the sacrifice that you made, that we have the
freedom and the gift of repentance and surrender because of the sacrifice that you made on the cross,
Lord. Thank you that we are made new through your blood and through your death and resurrection.
We love you, Jesus. Thank you so much for the body.
and Jesus as we take the blood together let us just remember what it does for us that it actually
protects us, armors us, it is our weapon, it is the thing that we use to fight against the demonic
Lord, thank you that the blood is a weapon that we get to use that you've so generously given to us
and so Lord I just plead the blood of Jesus over our minds and our hearts for the rest of this week
and today as we receive this word from you Lord continue to protect us.
us from the tactics of the enemy and remind us that any weapons formed against us will not prosper
in the name of Jesus because of the blood. Thank you, Jesus, for the blood. It is such a gift that we get
to be completely coated from head to toe. And I just plead the blood of Jesus from head to toe over
every single listener that they will be protected by the blood of Jesus, that the blood of Jesus actually
overcomes all. So thank you, God, for just the superpower of your blood. We thank you, Jesus.
and we promise to honor you today and to love others as you would love them.
In Jesus' name, amen.
So just by kind of thinking right now, I have a few different things that I'd like to talk about.
And I guess this episode, I know that we kind of bounce around between like mainly doing
scripture to then kind of having like almost like a sermon moment where we're talking about
one topic.
But I feel today that it's just going to be kind of giving a conversation.
Obviously, I would still love to bring up scripture.
I think it's important that with anything we talk about, it's backed up by scripture.
So we may intertwine a few different things, but I really just feel like sitting down and having a conversation with y'all about just some vulnerable and real things with being a Christian.
I think one of the most common things that I see, at least online, and even with some DMs and comments that you guys send to me on the internet is how to deal with exactly.
as a Christian. And I really genuinely believe that the word anxiety and being a Christian just do not,
they're not supposed to live in the same house. But even being a Christian, we fall to anxiety at times.
And so I just want to shed light on that. And there's a couple other things that I'd like to talk about today too.
So we'll just kind of see where the spirit leads us. But yeah, anxiety is definitely one of those things
that has been taking over our generation. I think anxiety.
and depression is just like in overdrive, which is completely from the pits of hell.
Anxiety and depression, or anything that makes us feel uneasy, really,
anything that is not fruit of the spirit, is demonic.
And so anxiety is not from the Lord.
So let's just talk about anxiety for a little bit,
dealing with anxiety or having chronic anxiety,
or maybe you've been diagnosed with extreme.
extreme anxiety where you have to take medication for it, whatever that looks like.
I just want you to know that there's freedom for that.
And being a Christian and anxiety, like together, is not normal.
And the reason I bring this up is because I've received a lot of messages and DMs.
I feel like this is kind of a common thing that's brought up is you guys expressing your
desperation and just wanting answers for how to deal with anxiety,
with being a Christian or how do I deal with anxious thoughts, anxiousness in general,
and how do I just trust?
I think a lot of it comes down to trusting the Lord too.
But let's just look up the definition of anxiety.
So what is anxiety?
Anxiety is an intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations.
A fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating, and feeling tired may occur.
And so what I find is interesting when we read about the definition of anxiety,
is that two words come up, which is worry and fear.
And so I want to bring up some moments in the Bible
where the Lord speaks directly to the word worry.
Matthew 625 reads,
That is why I tell you, do not worry about everyday life,
whether you have enough food and drink or enough clothes to wear.
Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing?
Look at the birds.
They don't plant or heart.
or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them, and aren't you far more valuable
to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Philippians 4-6
reads, don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything, tell God what you need, and thank
him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
What I love about that particular scripture is it starts with saying don't worry about anything.
Instead, pray about everything. And so what God tells us is that the minute that we start
worrying, because the thing is, being a Christian doesn't mean we can't be tempted by anxiety,
right? Because obviously this is something that is in the church if people like you guys,
I have been messaging me and saying, how do I deal with anxiety as a Christian?
How do I trust the Lord when I have such anxious thoughts all the time?
So obviously this is something that Christians are not off limits to.
This is still something that we could fall into.
But what the Lord is saying is don't worry.
Instead, pray about everything.
So God has always made it very clear that instead of worrying,
when we find ourselves wanting to start worrying,
that should actually be used when you start to feel anxious.
you should actually look at that more so as a signal of like, okay, I need to start praying
because instead of worrying, God says to pray about everything.
Tell God what you need and thank him for all that he has done.
So another really cool thing that happens when we decide to start praying and look at the
things that we already have and have a grateful heart because that's what thanking him for all
he has done would do is it would kind of force our minds to not start.
being over here in anxiousness and worrying, but being over here and remembering all that he has done
and shifting our hearts to a place of gratitude.
And so what's cool is once we step into gratefulness and having a grateful heart in that moment,
there's actually no room for anxiety to live in our hearts because now it's being filled with gratitude
and you're remembering all that the Lord has already done.
Sometimes it's hard to get there.
It's like a workout where you're like, you got to get up, you don't want to.
You kind of want to sit in bed.
You kind of want to just sit in your anxiousness.
I don't know why we're like that, but sometimes we do.
Sometimes we just want to sit in that anxiousness, and we think that if we just sit there,
it'll, like, eventually go away.
But what we actually have to do is we need to get up and force ourselves to have a grateful
heart and to pray and shift our hearts this way.
Otherwise, we're never getting out of that.
Then you're spiraling, then you're into a panic attack.
Your heart is racing.
You know what I mean?
It's not productive.
But it is kind of like getting up and working out where it's like you got to you got to just get yourself there.
But once you're there, you feel good, you know?
And so it says only then, then you will experience God's peace.
Then.
So it's interesting that this scripture shows that there's actually an order to receive God's peace.
Is that first is the signal of anxiety being like, all right, I'm anxious.
I could spiral in this or instead I could pray about every.
And so you feel that anxiousness, that's a signal to pray.
You're going to pray and you're going to pray about everything, right?
You're going to pray to the Lord and then you're going to tell God what you need and you're also going to thank him for whatever he's already done for you.
Right.
So you're going to bring your request to the Lord and say, God, I need peace right now.
I'm like not good.
I'm anxious.
My mind is racing.
I need you to give me peace, Lord.
Settle me, make me still.
I can't do this on my own strength.
Lord, I need you right now.
help me to breathe, you know? So ask what you need, tell God what you need, and then thank him for all
that he is done, and then immediately go into gratitude. Then you will experience God's peace.
Isn't that cool? How just in those few sentences, the Lord has actually given us the formula,
there's an order of how to receive his peace. He doesn't do that to make things difficult. He's just
showing us how we will actually receive his peace effectively because I think sometimes we can be like,
God, God, help.
But we're still kind of like sitting and like being in a panic.
And so I think what that does is it also, it forces us to slow down, to slow down,
bring our requests to the Lord of what we need in that moment,
and then slow down enough to also then be grateful.
And so once you're in that place, it's like you're actually in the perfect position
to then receive the peace of God and it just drops down on you.
And now all of a sudden all your anxieties are gone,
then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
Have y'all ever received God's peace so much so that you're like, I don't actually even understand how I'm so cool right now?
Because just a few seconds ago, I was absolutely losing my mind, feeling as if everything was crumbling around me.
And maybe things are crumbling around you.
But that's the part that makes it something we cannot actually understand.
The peace of God is so good that things could actually be on fire all around us.
But it's the peace of God that exceeds anything we can understand.
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. I also want to read
John 1427. This is Jesus talking to his disciples right now. I am leaving you with a gift,
peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift. The world cannot give. So don't be troubled
or afraid. Remember what I told you. I am going away, but I will come back to you again.
if you really loved me, you would be happy that I'm going to the Father who is greater than I am.
So this is just him talking about how he would die but then be resurrected again.
He's kind of like revealing to them in that moment that he will go, but he will be back.
And you guys should be rejoicing in that because it's actually going to give you guys freedom.
But anyway, the part that we really should focus on just for the topic that we're talking about today is that Jesus is actually leaving them all of us with a gift, which is peace of mind and heart.
and the peace that he gives is a gift that the world cannot give.
I think this is another really great just example of how much we are truly made for Jesus
because the peace that he gives surpasses all understanding and it's the only piece that really lasts.
It's the only piece that actually can genuinely essentially take us off of the edge of a cliff.
You know what I mean?
And the reason I say that is because when we're not actively seeking the love,
Lord when we're not actively seeking Jesus as the answer to our anxieties and our worries,
we are going to other things for it. It's like we need it, we need it, no matter what.
Like we are constantly seeking peace and we are constantly seeking an escape from things like
anxiety, but if we're not seeking the Lord, we're going to try our best to find it in other
things. And so I think that's a lot of times why even myself, like at the end of my day
when I wanted to finally just relax and wind down and not worry about things and not have my mind
racing, I would have a glass of wine. Not saying there's necessarily anything wrong with having a
glass of wine, but it was the way that I was using it. I was using wine to give me peace, to
relieve myself from anxieties or worry, you know, to give me peace. I wanted wine to give me peace.
And I think that's a lot of times why people just use any type of substances, you know.
weed is another one. Why do people smoke weed? Because they want to chill. They want to like,
they just want to feel nothing. They just want to feel peace. They want to feel happy. They want to feel
relaxed. And so I think that just goes to show that this is something that needs to be filled in
us. Like that peace, that void of peace needs to be filled by something. So if it's not filled by
Jesus, we will just try our best to look for it in other places. But the difference is that
those things don't last, you know, like after my buzz was gone with my glass of wine, my anxieties
came right back. Or it was worse because alcohol heightened my anxiety with how much I was consuming
wine, like pretty much almost every night with dinner or whatever, I found myself to be more
anxious during the day. And so that, to me, was quite literally proof that it wasn't a lasting
peace. It actually made things worse for me. And it becomes an idol. It becomes something that we're
dependent on outside of the Lord. And yeah, it doesn't last. It doesn't last like Jesus. But what's said
over and over again is that this type of peace that Jesus has to offer, this living water, you know,
goes back to that scripture. We were reading a few episodes ago about the woman at the well
where Jesus was like, but the water I give you, the living water I can offer you though, you will
never be left thirsty again. He's the thing that can really truly satisfy us and gives us peace that
actually lasts. Psalm 5522 reads, give your burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you. He will not
permit the godly to slip and fall. That last part, he will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
What does that say, guys? That says that the Lord will not allow us. He will not give a permit. He'll never say,
yeah, go ahead, slip and fall.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
He is loyal to the ones who are loyal to him.
He is loyal to the godly.
And he answers the godly because he knows that we rely on him and we love him.
So just know that when we cast our burdens to the Lord, he will take care of you.
That's a promise that's written in the word of God.
He will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and sleep.
fall. And so whatever it is that you're anxious about or you're worrying about, just know that those
scenarios and those realities that are going through your mind that just are not real, because it
hasn't happened yet, go against scripture. And so that's another thing, y'all. That's another
way to discern whether this is something to actually worry about or not, is if you are having all
these thoughts racing through your mind and you are falling to this pattern of anxiousness and
worry? This goes for any thoughts that go through our mind, but we need to test those thoughts
because if you were to go to scripture and say, does this align with the word of God? And it doesn't?
Then it's most likely, actually, it's not from the Lord. Because if you are worrying that the
Lord isn't going to take care of you or you're worrying about how he's going to make this all right
and you're doubting about whether you're going to actually slip and fall to your death,
in whatever situation you're worried about, just test that and say, but is this what Scripture says?
Or has the Lord told me that he will take care of me and he will not permit the godly to slip and fall?
If it goes against Scripture, it's not from the Lord.
If God is telling us, in the word, do not worry, do not be afraid.
What were the two main words used in the definition of anxiety?
It is a persistent worry and fear about everyday situation.
So we know that anxiety is not from the Lord because it actually is quite literally the opposite of what Scripture says.
And if we believe that Scripture is the truth and it is the Word of God, then 2 plus 2 equals this is a lie, which means it's demonic, which means it's probably actually completely from the pits of hell.
Anxiety is not from the Lord.
Anxiety is not something that the Lord encourages us in because God tells us do not worry or fear.
But anxiety says it's a persistent worry and fear.
It's not from the Lord.
It's against scripture.
He says he'll take care of you.
I'm going to share one more piece of scripture.
This is such a good one, y'all.
This is 2 Timothy 1-7.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Another translation that some of you all might be more familiar with is God has given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound.
So God does not give us a spirit of fear. He never tells us to be fearful. What do we have to fear if we truly
believe that the Lord is taking care of us? And he is our shepherd, he is our provider, he is our
protector, he is our defender. Just like what Exodus 1414 says, which is the Lord will fight for you,
you need only to be still. Being still is not worrying. Being still is actually being at peace.
If you think of waters that are still, what do you feel when you look at them? Peace. It's giving peace.
Waves, crashing waves, lots of winds. That's not really giving a peaceful atmosphere. But when you look at still water, it's like, wow, it's peaceful.
Be still. Be at peace. No anxiety. No worry. And know that I'm fighting for you.
So those were some pieces of scripture that refer to worry, but some scripture that acknowledge.
and speaks right into fear, we have Isaiah 4110 that reads,
Don't be afraid for I am with you.
Don't be discouraged for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Psalm 461 reads God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge.
Matthew 1031 reads, and I love this one, y'all. So don't be afraid. You are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
I just want to read a little bit more commentary to y'all about that scripture. So Jesus' disciples didn't need to be afraid because God really did care for them, even down to the most minute detail.
If God cares for the sparrows and numbers the very hairs of our head, then he will also pay careful
attention to our needs.
The persecuted easily feel that God forgets them, but he is not.
God knows us better than our friends know us, better than our husband or wife knows us.
He knows us better than we know ourselves.
We don't know how many hairs are numbered on our head.
The God who knows us so well will take care of us.
The emphasis in this short section is clearly, do not fear.
This is the third time in six verses that they and we are bid to banish this cowardly base passion,
this causeless, fruitless, harmful, sinful fear of men.
He that fears God need fear none else.
And so when we hear the word fear, like fear of God, I know we've mentioned this a few times on the pod,
It means just looking to the Lord, respecting, loving, appreciating, like, fearing him, loving him,
worshiping him, rather than fearing anything else.
And so maybe that commentary was more so about like fear of man, but I really think a way that
we could take that is like, as long as we fear the Lord, as long as we believe in him and
his word, and we look to him before anything else, we won't be anxious.
and I really believe that is how we will receive peace as a Christian.
If you are a Christian, you actually have the utmost advantage to receiving peace more than anyone else.
And we have to believe that, that true peace comes through Christ Jesus.
And so if you have direct access to him and you have a relationship with him and you've accepted him into your heart,
you don't have to sit in fear anymore.
Like you don't have to sit in anxiety.
You're different, babe.
You are different because you know Jesus.
You are different because you have been sanctified.
You have been made pure through his blood.
You are different.
And so also I think it takes a sense of recognition
that you don't have to submit to the fear of anxiety anymore.
You don't have to submit to the spirit of anxiety.
that that is sent straight from the pits of hell.
And no, nobody's off limits to it,
but you actually hold the authority
and you actually have the right to say,
no, I'm not going to be anxious.
And you better speak that scripture out loud
over yourself and to the devil and say,
no, I actually don't have to be anxious because receipts.
Read those scriptures over yourself
when you feel the enemy is coming after you
and trying to tempt you
into falling back into maybe your old ways of being anxious.
I think a little bit of it too, y'all,
is really learning to stand in our authority and saying,
I'm not doing this right now.
I'm not doing this right now.
I'm not doing this today.
You have already stolen enough minutes of my life,
of me worrying and being anxious
and falling into your trap of listening to you
with all these dumb scenarios
that haven't even happened in real life.
It's also a matter of putting your foot down
through the authority that Jesus has given.
you. Girl or boy, you have inherited that from the king of kings. You've inherited that authority.
He's given you freedom to use it. Use it. Rebuk the enemy. Resist the enemy and he will flee.
You tell him to your face the promises of your lord and you say, no, I'm not going to be anxious
today actually because I know I don't have to be anxious because my God is taking care of everything.
We are not going to run off into la la land of all these fake scenarios that are not happening
because here's the thing.
If the enemy can't kill you, he's going to rob you from your life right now and the reality
that you're living right now.
And so if he can do that through ways of worrying and anxiety and just thinking about all
these other things instead of just seeing things for what's right in front of you, instead
of you just being simply grateful.
I think that's why that first pieces of scripture that we read was like, slow down, ask the Lord
for the things that you need, but also be grateful because it's allowing us to actually like
wake up and be grateful and present in where we're at right now and what the Lord has already
given us. Instead of running off into all of these directions that is just not happening and
will most likely never happen. Guys, this is a literal statistic that's out there in the world.
I had heard it once before, but I just looked it up.
A Cornell University study founded that 85% of what people worry about never happens.
Research shows that over 90% of what people worry about never happens.
Bulletproof machine says a study found that 91.39% of participants worries did not come true.
If that does not give you full body chills, it's,
in the 80s and 90 percentile,
that the things that we worry about never come true.
So if that is not a clear indication
that you have nothing to worry about,
you have nothing to worry about
because 93.98% of the things that you are worried about
and anxious about don't happen.
The Lord said it first, though.
The Lord said it first.
He said, do not be afraid.
Be still and know that I am God.
I'm going to take care of you.
That I will not permit the godly to fall.
You have nothing to be anxious about.
You have nothing to worry about.
I'm not saying that to invalidate whatever situation you're going through,
whatever hardship, whatever feels really hopeless in your life.
I don't want to invalidate that.
That is very real.
But what I do want to say is you don't have to submit to the spirit of anxiety anymore.
You don't.
Anxiety is not something you identify in.
It is not a part of you.
By the way, it's not hereditary.
It's a spirit, honey.
It's not embedded in your DNA.
Anxiety is not from the Lord.
And so if you believe in God and you believe in His goodness,
you need to know that you are protected by him,
that He is your identity.
Jesus is your identity.
Your identity is, I'm a child of God.
And I know the promises that the Lord has given me.
And I know the things that I've inherited through being a child of God.
God. And so I'm not going to be a child of God, but then also an anxious person. That doesn't work.
No, I'm simply a child of God and I know the promises of the Lord. And I know that he has not
promised me anxiety. He's promised me peace and a sound heart and a sound mind. So ultimately,
what I'm saying is that anxiety is not for you, babe. You're not the exception. You're not the
only Christian that needs to walk this earth dealing with anxiety. Okay, well, I'm glad everyone else
has found peace through the Lord, but I guess that's just not it for me. That's not true. That's a lie from
the enemy. Peace is for you, just like it's for anyone else. The peace of God is just as available for
you as anyone else. And so, and I'm saying that coming from a place of somebody who I did
struggle with anxiety. Was it totally crippling? But sometimes, y'all, I couldn't even eat.
in restaurants in public because I would get so anxious.
That is not the Lord's portion for us.
So it comes with believing the Word of God,
knowing the promises of the Lord,
learning more scripture.
I just looked up scripture about anxiety and fear and worry.
Like, memorize that scripture
so that when the spirit of anxiety wants to creep up
and try to rob you from your reality,
you speak the truth over yourself.
And you rebuke him.
And bring the receipts.
Bring the receipts because he's betting on you not knowing this, honey.
He's betting on you not remembering or knowing the promises of your Heavenly Father.
That's the thing he's really hoping for in those moments is that you don't remember.
Remember.
Remember.
This is your sword.
Aside from the Spirit of God, the blood of Jesus, like all the things that protect us, it's the Word of God.
You've got to know this.
And you've got to be able to speak it over yourself.
You've got to remember what he's told you.
you. This isn't just a suggestion. This is literally how we stay armored against demonic things
like anxiety. That's not something you're going to identify in anymore. Promise me that. Promise me that
after today you are no longer identifying in the spirit of anxiety. You need to believe in the
word of God. You need to believe in the power of Jesus Christ and you need to believe in the power
of his peace. That it surpasses all understanding and anxiety will not live here anymore. Reminds me of that
Abby Gambo's song. What is it?
And I live here, there's no way ever be.
Yeah.
Fear and Anxiety by Elevation Rhythm and Abby Gamboa.
Listen to that song.
Here, wait, let's play a little bit.
Those lyrics are so biblical because what did we read?
It's being grateful, shifting from anxiety and looking to be grateful.
And it doesn't have to sound perfect.
It doesn't have to sound perfect.
Okay, so listen to that song whenever you feel fear and anxiety.
I love you guys.
I'm really proud of y'all.
I hope that this brought peace to every single one of you guys.
Whether you struggle with anxiety daily or just from time to time,
I can say it's still tempting for me at times,
but our best weapon is the promises of the Lord,
scripture, Word of God,
and remembering who we are and what we've inherited through Jesus.
Can we do something cool today, y'all?
Can we show somebody how cool Jesus is?
Let's love like Jesus, walk like Jesus,
be more like Jesus today.
I pray for an anxious free week for you all this week.
I pray there's nothing to worry about.
