Starting point is 00:00:05 All right, welcome back. It is the circling back podcast. I'm filling in for Dave today. Well, I'm always here actually, but Dave is not here. So I'll be running the show today. My name is Dylan, been here for a while. Filling in the other's chair, New Brett. What's up, New Brett? I appreciate the early intro. I feel like that's like, hey, this is, I know what it's like to get done this way. So I'm not going to allow that to happen to somebody. else right there yeah i've gotten first intros a few times along the way and my let's see we've been doing this for 10 years now so 10 and a half years i've gotten a few along the way yeah i feel i feel more welcome to be in the first even first minute here like hey i'm here what's doing i don't want you and randy going on for seven minutes and it's like i'm here too yeah that's that's no good for anybody thanks for filling in today uh last time you're on you got you got some credit from listeners for being a ball knower and we do have some ball to talk today that segment is coming up later
Starting point is 00:01:11 But first, producing, as always, is Randall Trimbecky. Hi, Dylan. That doesn't sound right. Hi, Dylan. Also, didn't sound right because my mic was muted. Okay. All right. Happy to be here, stoked.
Starting point is 00:01:25 I mean, how long is it to my intro? It took a minute 30. This stinks. I prefer Dave. All right, baby. He gives it to me immediately. I have to wait here. I'm some little producer cuck.
Starting point is 00:01:38 I hate it. I think you're going to be just fine, man. Okay. move on we'll see hey your boiler makers won i don't understand you know what i'm going to go sports ball guy sports suck i don't know why you guys get into this i mean i'm glad peru one but socks are out there's got fucking spank i wasn't even gonna your texas longhorns lost mind in it i wasn't going to bring up baseball today i'm sorry man that's got to stink that's uh and you're you were so stoked about it too they they roped your right in it was i was uh i was not to get too
Starting point is 00:02:08 much into this weekend and fun but i was just watching uh i was playing pool with Gordo and I had the socks up on the screen. I had Purdue on my phone because I'm like, I'm not going to ask them to switch to Purdue for any of these. I mean, you got Alabama and Georgia on and like Purdue is doing well. I'm like, huh, this isn't right. And then I look at the socks just, they were ordained by the Pope. What happened?
Starting point is 00:02:28 What happened, Dylan? When was the socks game? Seven o'clock. On Saturday? Yeah. Oh, gosh, I didn't realize that. Yeah, the fellas in the Minnesota group text, not, not too happy to have, have Purdue take it to them in the manner that they did.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Yeah. So it's just very funny. Like, it was the most like sports guy I've ever been. I'm like, I'm going to go to a bar to watch some games. And then even your longhorns let you down. Your longhorns let me down. Disavowed. Your longhorns let me down.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Oh, man. Hey, listen, if you're not a patron yet, first of all, what are you doing? Second of all, spooky season is back. It will be going live tomorrow. Dave will be back. We got spooky season. We'll be up tomorrow. first one was an absolute banger the stories were incredible and dave promises that the hits just keep coming so tune into that
Starting point is 00:03:18 also reigns game show is back not this month but it's picking up again next month and then uh every month for the foreseeable future so that's a lot of fun to play along at home it's it's great stuff back there and of course every friday you get uh listening voicemails check out patreon uh newsletter dropped on friday will actually brought back a wedding announcement breakdown which is one of his old staples that people love so much that was a uh pgp staple for me back in the day and yeah yeah if we could mix in a things grow to do after graduation update then he'd he'd really be be cooking there and i filled in for daves uh when my what is it cooking drinking watching this weekend i think i did all right so check that out of course the shop is always live wash media dot shop we got some merch in there we got some hats shirts uh you can get you a pants milk sweater if you want to I don't have one. I need one. There's also, if I may hear, uh, circling back YouTube,
Starting point is 00:04:17 big things happening over there. Yeah, you see my little plug in the newsletter. Oh yeah. Oh, yes. I did see that. Okay. Yeah. Um, walk us through what's going on there. Yeah. So just all very, very quick here. We're starting with spooky season, but we want to get kind of all the old shows, all the Patreon stuff, give people a taste on there. It's kind of like best of type playlists on there and then stuff from the shows each week to have kind of those seven or eight minutes, the best segments have everything a little more digestible on there in a nice little clean playlist form. So if you have someone that you're like, hey, you want to get in the show, it's a podcast. Like, all right, hour. That's a lot of my commitment. I don't really get this. Instead, you can be like, hey, check out these three, six minute videos. And then if you like
Starting point is 00:04:57 those, then we can get people on the podcast that way. So that's kind of the idea there. And then obviously for longtime listeners, just hopefully to be like, oh, yeah, that was funny. I'll watch that again. I remember that clip. So that's, that's kind of the goal there with that. I'm pretty excited about that. So stock up, circling back YouTube. Trending in the right direction on YouTube. Also, a lot more YouTube shorts if you're, if you're into that kind of thing, some of the younger listeners maybe. I doubt the older listeners are.
Starting point is 00:05:25 And also, if you're in Airbnb, continue my initiative of subscribing on the smart TVs to every account. I had a guy who has set me in the past that he was an Airbnb and subscribed. He's like, there was two TVs. this Airbnb, so I subscribed on both TVs. I'm like, I love it. What a dog. Love it. Love that guy. I don't know if you guys saw this morning, but Sam Taylor went on a run 6 a.m. And she's strapped up for it. You got to stay ready. Dude, she wears it like very prominently, like right on her on her waistline. And her her little crop top shirt doesn't even cover it. So she's just running with that tully on her. I love that. I got to say, I've noted on this podcast before because I don't have, I don't have a lot going on in
Starting point is 00:06:07 Austin quite yet. So I'm outside. I'm on Butler Trail. every day. The other day I was around in the corner just started to get a little dark out there. And I was like, dang, it is like, if you're in the wrong parts of there at night, you're like, I know there's other people on here. So I feel safe. And obviously like being a man, I have a big advantage over Sam Taylor there. But like, it can get sketched. Yeah, I was like, this is a little, this is a little spooky. I don't know if I like 745. I'll be fine. And then it got darker and darker. And I was like, man, I don't know if I love that. But if you, if you DM her holster, she says she'll send you the link to the belt she's wearing which has the holster on it well i used to
Starting point is 00:06:42 in my in my cowboy days in my in my past life i would be walking around like Vegas casinos i knew girls that i was with were were packing some in the office were some kept in the truck but i know i know some of them nice with the purse somebody had a nice bedazzled gun to go with the with the holster chet straps up sometimes she has a powder blue uh nine yeah and she keeps it a little fandy pack when she goes on walks without me. Yeah, I know. Better to have it and not need it. That's right.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And they're not have it. There was a machete attack, not to get dark here, but there was a machete attack. We talked about it on the trail a couple years ago. Yeah, see, I just don't want to be. Someone lost a limb. And I was going to say, I got, I got no, I got these registered hands. And that's, that's about it.
Starting point is 00:07:23 That's all you need. That's it. That's it. If I'm out there, I was when I was doing that, too, I was walking, like, there was a couple in front of me. So I was kind of like staying within distance, but also, like, wanted to give them a signal, like, hey, no, I'm like staying close to you for all of our safety. I'm not being weird there, but they were kind of like looking back at me, like,
Starting point is 00:07:40 what's this guy doing? Because like, I could have walked by him and passed him. So I wanted to be like, hey, it's all cool, but I didn't really know how to broach that situation of being like, no, I'm a little scared too. So don't be, don't be scared to me. Yeah. Don't, don't worry about that. But I could tell they're going on.
Starting point is 00:07:55 What's this guy doing behind me here? Yeah. So. On that note, let's talk about our fun weekends, Randy. I just, I'm just waiting for her. at the shooting range, that content. When are we getting that? But this is going to fun.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Hey, it's hard money, Micah. It's time for this weekend. And fun. Bro, let's go out this weekend. There's a crazy event happening. I like to turn out. Bro, there's a crazy event happening. We had the party and it was lit.
Starting point is 00:08:20 I got yelled out by a prostitute. Let's just go have fun. And let go with it. Little more, girls. Let's go. This weekend and fun brought to you by Z-biotics. Let me tell you about this game-changing product that I drink before a night out.
Starting point is 00:08:33 It's called prebiotic. I'm sorry, it's a pre-alcohol called Zbiotics. And, man, I'll tell you, it came in handy on Saturday. Full day of football. Took my Zbiotics and then had a few beverages. And I had to wake up in, you know, a day after drinking, I had to be spry. You know, I'd immediately switch into dad mode. So it's a great way to get you feeling good after a night of drinking.
Starting point is 00:08:59 You know, you can't, it's just the best way to attack your day. Just you feel spry. Like I said, you feel fresh. It's a pre-alcohol. Sorry, pre-alcohol probiotic drink. It's a world's first genetically engineered probiotic. It was engineered by Ph.D. microbiologist to break down acetaldehyde. I nailed that one.
Starting point is 00:09:22 An unwanted byproduct of alcohol metabolism. Make pre-alcohol your first drink of the night drink responsibly. and enjoy the next day. They have sold more than 14 million bottles and earned the trust of thousands of people, including us. Unreal stuff. You've got to try it. Try for yourself.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And if you are unsatisfied, they will refund your entire order. No questions asked. Head to zbiotics.com slash steam. Code steam for 15% off your order. Zbiotics is a partner of ours. Let's start with you, Newbret. What did you get into over the weekend? Friday.
Starting point is 00:09:58 got out of here, got back to Fort Worth. A little later than I intended, my weekend was not complaining about traffic, but it took me like five hours to get from Austin to Fort Worth on Friday, which was really tough. Kind of kind of sets you back there. So Friday night, not a whole lot. Kind of got home, get my wits back about me. Saturday was the big day for me.
Starting point is 00:10:20 We had big noon kickoff, which we'll get into the Nebraska Cornhuskers against Indiana. Your Nebraska Cornhuskers. My Nebraska Cornhuskers, yeah, I'm wearing the hat right. here just backward. Yeah, just a tough L there that we'll talk about. Not an L that I'm not used to. I had some people like, hey, man, you could have, could have, could have, it was close, whatever blah, I was like, hey, this happened 31 times in a row, literally against ranked team. So you can't, can't hurt me anymore there. But it was really fun. Honnette's and friends in town. So a couple Nebraska folk just to watch with, which was great. After that, went to downtown Dallas to watch a little
Starting point is 00:10:55 the Nebraska volleyball before the Casey Musgraves concert on Saturday nights. We saw Spacey Casey at the AAC, had really good seats, like straight on in the, we weren't on the floor, but like first level, like 15 rows up and like perp, not side view, like direct view of the stage. And that was blast. Puts on a great show. Telefrico was there over the weekend. Very tastefully done too.
Starting point is 00:11:17 She didn't like bring them out or anything. It was just like, she was like doing a fly by the audience and was like, oh, it's up, James. And then that was kind of all the pomp and search. circumstance for that there. So I thought that was nice too. It wasn't like, hey, here he is. It was just kind of like, oh, look, look at that. But yeah, played a lot of decent amount of Golden Hour, which loved Golden Hour, played a lot of the new album, 25 songs strong, played for like two hours. It was, it was wonderful. It was a great show. It was a great show. A big fan to her here. Yeah. You know, she still is, she's still doing it. Still looks awesome, sounds awesome. So great to be there. So that was kind of the highlight of my weekend. And then after that, just football Sunday, had the nice Sunday night football NLCS multi-box going, which is just great, great wine down there in an overtime game. How ready are you for the full move to Austin? You getting tired of that commute yet?
Starting point is 00:12:10 Yes, but actually, I was going to talk to you about this off mic, so we're getting much, much closer to the full move. Yeah, so we're wrapping up the commute very, very, very, very quickly, very, very soon. Love to hear that. We are pretty, pretty ready to roll there, which is very very very. very, very nice. But yeah, that is, that is pretty much everything on, on my weekend. Okay. Rayno, what's up with you, man? How was your weekend? Oh, it was, it was fine. I've, I've fully converted into full sports ball guy.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Every sports suck. You know, you guys all stink. You know, what are you talking about? No, no. Friday went to ACL with the girlfriend, had two friends in town. They were staying with us. So the four of us went to ACL, got to see Jesse Wells, Stevie Oake, Natasha Bettingfield, the chain smokers. It's right. The chain smokers came through. Yeah, they were, it was a pretty good show. Chainsmokers put on a good show.
Starting point is 00:13:05 And then a little Charlie X-CX. And it was good. It was, man, it was dusty. It's always dusty at ACL unless it's, you know, extremely muddy. But this was probably the worst I've ever seen it. I can only imagine Saturday was worse because I figured. rain, all the rain from the previous weekend would have kept the dust down. I feel like it just like all the mud, like exposed all the dirt.
Starting point is 00:13:26 And then the past like week has been, I dried it all up. And it was just, it was really dusty. So that was Friday. Saturday just kind of took it easy in the morning because just like it was just hurting after ACL. Just Megan and her friends were going out. And I just pretty much sat in my bed and watched the longhorns. your Texas Longhorns lose. So that was fun enough, I guess.
Starting point is 00:13:56 And then went out, like I said, went out with Gordo to a bar, played some pool, watched Saskin knocked out of the world's, you know, the playoffs, watched the Purdue win. That was cool. And Sunday we went out for the Bears Packers game to Chalmers Place. Have you been there yet, Dylan? No. Yeah, it's on the east side, east of the shop. It's a very cool place.
Starting point is 00:14:18 It's very much like Little Woodrow's, rustic tap and Bolden Acres, all mixing in one, but like without, you know, the pickle ball. That sounds sick. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:14:27 it's a pretty good place on East. Packers just fucking kick the Bears shit in. And then we went out shopping a little bit, thrifting, and then just kind of chilled the rest of time. Guess that hamstring was worse than we thought, huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Yeah. Guess so. How's your pool game, Randy? It's decent. All right. Yeah, I'm not, I'm not a, you know, I'm not a shark out there, but I'm also not, you know, in that I can, I can make some good, some good balls in place. I can make some good balls.
Starting point is 00:14:57 I'm pretty bad. I want a nice little run a couple weeks ago and it was as, it was as good as I felt in a while. I was with people I didn't really know either for girlfriends, friends, friends, partners, boyfriends. And so they're like, oh, look at the hot shot. Yeah, exactly. So I was like, no, this is not, not usually it. But it was, yeah, it was like, again, it was one of those. I was holding my, hold my head a little higher after that.
Starting point is 00:15:16 I was like, yeah, I did. I did finish off that game. Dapped up everybody. So that was sick. There you go. Yeah, pretty busy weekend. Very looking forward to this next week and coming up and try and do nothing. All time weather weekend coming up, by the way.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Let me talk about my weekend a little bit. Chelsea and Ivy stepped out Friday. We tried to go to Esquela. We didn't have a reservation because it's a new place in Austin. Have you ever been a floor of farms in Cabo? I know, it's probably not a ton of you, but it's the same concept. It's like they grow a lot. lot of the vegetables there. So it's a big property and you can walk around throughout the garden.
Starting point is 00:15:53 And it's pretty cool. So it's been booked for like months. We couldn't get in, but we did drive to. It looked pretty cool. So we ended up going to Shore, Raw Bar and Grill and O'Kill. Really good food. Overpriced, but really good food. Yeah. So that was Friday, Saturday, just a day of watching football. Chelsea and Parks went and ran errands while I was watching the Texas OU game, which was by design. They like to leave me alone. during big games like that. And we'll talk more about it later, but an extremely disappointing Saturday for me,
Starting point is 00:16:23 game that they should have won, could have won, but lost. I was so disgruntled that I didn't even watch Bama, Georgia. I was like, I'm done with football for the day. It really took me out of it. And then, yeah, just hung out with Chelsea and Parks. Let's see, Sunday, more of the same. Not a whole lot.
Starting point is 00:16:43 My fantasy football team's killing it, by the way. I know a lot of you care about that. And just hung out with the lad, took him to run some, he went, took him to the mall, got a toy there. That was fun for him. And that was pretty much it, man. Pretty low-key weekend for your boy. What was a toy? See, there's this new toy called a Funko Pop.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Okay. Do you know those? Oh, yeah. Yeah, I know Funco Pass. Randy's like, they're not new. They've been around for a while. But what type of, what was the Funko Pop of? He got one from Jiu-Jitsu Kaizen.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Gotcha. It was a it's a bigger bigger one one of the big they have different sizes it's a it's a large nice my little brother's got the funcop pop wall at his place one of the it looks a lot like that right there behind you and it's just nothing but funco pops Pokemon Mario anime the whole the whole deal i know the the oysters clams and cockles guys have uh they have a couple or at least one for game of thrones yeah parks has had some birthday money and just burning a hole in his pocket so he went and you want to spend some of it. I was proud of him.
Starting point is 00:17:45 We went to first, we went to GameStop, and they didn't have it. So we called the one at the mall, and I said, you're going to have to do the talking buddy. So I just handed him my phone and I called it. And he was like, you guys have the, uh, oh, that's big. Yeah, he's like, I don't want to do it. You got to do it. This is going to be good for you.
Starting point is 00:18:02 And he asked if they put it on hold for him. So he went there and he went and talked to the man. And he goes, yeah, he got it right here. And he pulled his money out. Well, he pulled a $100 bill out. And he goes, you had changed for this? You guys are like, yeah, we got change, man. Don't worry about it.
Starting point is 00:18:14 He's already ahead of like 44% of Gen Z or whatever it is who don't want to talk on the phone or order food on the phone or whatever. Man, I remember making my first doctor's appointments was like, I don't want to do this. But yeah. I get it, man. Like calling a stranger on the phone for a kid, that's not the easiest thing to do. I'm going to put my 28-year-old sister on blast and say she never developed the skill. So she's still to this day is like, is that right?
Starting point is 00:18:36 Yeah, like doesn't. My mom gets like, now mad, but it's like, like girl how old are like you got to figure this out and she's like now now life is caught up to her where she's like I can just do everything on the phone now but my mom's beside herself like my sister won't like call and order pizza she like use the app like she doesn't which is weird she works in retail too so it's like she knows she deals with people she deals with worse people on in in that front the people talking to her that way and like you get to you're on offense here but now she's not about it so yeah parks is
Starting point is 00:19:10 a well ahead of her there. He's killing it, man. Yeah. Dude, dude's got a baseball game tonight. I'm excited about. He's been hitting the ball well. I saw that Instagram store the other day. Dude, his swing looks so good. He was getting that foot down early. He got that front side. It was good stuff. I put his, uh, I put a clip of him in the batting cages up on Instagram. A lot of people were like, dude, his swing looks. People have been following his baseball journey throughout the years and they're noticing the development there. It's been great. That's, that's good. Hitting the ball hard, too. That's what you like to see. That's right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:40 All right, ball talk is next. Before we do that, though, let's talk about Warby Parker. Why did buying glasses always feel so complicated and overpriced? I've never bought glasses for myself, but I know, Raina, you've been through the process. I'm sure for you, you can relate to that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:56 I was just going to say that. It was a very seamless process. Like, these guys like doing the online virtual trial, which are great. I like going in person and that they have just walls of them. They all look great, and customer service there is great. I had problems with my glasses because of my eye doctor because I didn't do a, you know, an eye exam there. I did it at my own eye doctor, but they were very able to like replace mine for free and everything. So highly recommend Warby Parker.
Starting point is 00:20:23 Most people put it off because the whole process is just time consuming and a little complicated. Did you know that Warby Parker, they do eye exams in store now? Yeah. I kind of wish I would have done them there and not had this whole problem. That's right. They make the whole buying glasses process much easier. They made the experience easier. Now you can actually go into their stores and get an eye exam right there.
Starting point is 00:20:45 No running around to multiple stops. Everything is super clean, modern, and honestly feels like a whole wellness experience rather than a glasses buying experience. Warby Parker is covered by many major eye insurance plans as well. Just enter your information to see if you're eligible for benefits on frames, contacts, or eye exams. If you are, they automatically
Starting point is 00:21:06 apply them for you. I'm wearing the brimmers right now. That's the name of these frames, and these are not prescription, but they are blue light blocking and they transition into sunglasses outside. All right? They come in wide and regular with frame two.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Again, Warby Parker, it's a one-stop shop, eye exams, glasses, contact sunglasses. Maybe the best part for every pair they sell. They also give a pair to someone. in need. That's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Right now, by one pair of glasses to get 20% off any additional pairs at Warbyparker.com slash Steam. That's 20% off any additional pairs when you purchase one pair at W-A-R-B-Y Parker.com slash steam. All right. Let's talk a little football.
Starting point is 00:21:53 You want to start with you or me? Let's go Nebraska, Indiana first. Boo. What's what's going on, man? I know you were riding with us. This is, so this is a very, I mean, it's just that part of the experience of being a Nebraska fan. I feel like Auburn's a little bit like this. Arkansas and Florida State have been a little bit like this recently.
Starting point is 00:22:13 It's like, you'll be really excited for these games, but you know that it's not really going to. It looked good for a while. Yeah, you know in your heart, like it's like there have been so many in recent history. I mean, against Ohio State a couple of years ago, a similar situation. Oregon last or not Oregon, a couple of years. ago, USC last year, Michigan last year, Iowa the year before that. So like Nebraska gets a lot of flack for how bad they've been and kind of they're like a nice little punch line to make fun of, but they usually are competitive in these types of games. Like it's not like they get the doors
Starting point is 00:22:46 blown off. They just find the most comical ways to lose them. And so to think that I think they have, I thought coming in, they have a good football team. I still think they have a good football team. I think Indiana is really good. And so to think to have this long streak of losing these close games 31 in a row against ranked opponents to be able to let it out against the defending national champions who had won 21 in a row felt like it could have been that moment and when calandria scored in the fourth quarter there it was like it's like that meme of the dog when he gets a little taste of the doctor pepper like that was every nebraska fan like we're going to be chasing that high for the rest of our lives because for like 45 seconds to a minute it was like oh they're they're going
Starting point is 00:23:25 to do it they're up 11 in the fourth quarter it's finally time and then the very next play indiana scores. Then Indiana scores on the fourth and one in the very next drive. And with eight minutes left, I could have told you. It was a field goal game. It felt like it was two touchdowns. I know that feeling. Yeah. They just like snatch momentum from you. And it's like there's no reversing what's going on right now. And I've seen this. You just feel it happening. And credit, shitty field. Credit to Nebraska's defense, they played really, really, really, really well to be able to get the ball back. But you could just, you could just tell there that sucked the life out of the entire thing. I will say, though, I feel like, oftentimes,
Starting point is 00:24:00 in these types of games, you get really, really dejected. Nebraska has been so, like, hopeless for so long that I'm kind of on the other side here where, like, before I would have said, they win seven or eight games. Now I'm like, okay, they could win nine or ten games. They could beat Oregon next week. I feel okay about all of those types of things. The thing that did sting the most, though, is I saw the advanced stats. There's a guy that I look at Parker Fleming stats over on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:24:23 He does the how bad or how, like, how much did you actually lose by? and it measures like the net success rate of each play to basically just say who was on aggregate, the better team on a majority of the plays. And every week there's like three or four teams who lose who are the better team clearly. And that was Nebraska this week. So not only they lose that game, they outplayed the defending national champions and lost and came up short in a fashion that has happened again many, many times in my in my fanhood lifetime.
Starting point is 00:24:51 So it's hard. Well, that's something. We'll bounce back. You know, it's a little. It's just it could have been the one. like I don't want this rank streak now to end against like number 21 Iowa 13 to 10 when both teams are seven and three. You know, like how long has it been since 2016? That's the last time Nebraska beat a ranked opponent.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Beed a ranked opponent. And that Oregon team sucked. They ended up finishing the Oregon team they beat was ranked at the time and finished like six and six. So like it could have never. I've guessed that about Nebraska. Yeah. And so, but it's just, and again, they have they've, I think they've been within seven points, 17 of those 31ers. something like that. And so there's just there's all those types of stats. They were 0 and 11 now
Starting point is 00:25:33 0 and 12 in games called by Gus Johnson. So that's a fun fact. Yeah. So it's just, uh, we love Gus Johnson though. I know, but it was just it was it was tough. But again, it's it's always cool like seeing it on display. Memorial stadium's awesome. The Nebraska fans are awesome. It's a really, really cool place to see a football game that people think has been dormant for a while, but has not been. So like I like seeing the atmosphere kind of put on display for everybody and it's not like super dejecting but it's like man they they had them and that's the that's the hard part but we love that quirked up white boy anthony calandria and it's it's fun to have him at at quarterback much more entertaining than that fat loser dillon raola who we're
Starting point is 00:26:13 talk about later oh yeah they lost as well didn't they and he yeah well we can we can get to that later but he put up an all-time stinker which was real that could have been a banner day for nebraska fans if they would add swagged out guy pointing out will compton on the sideline and then the guy that he was replaced by going whatever, six of 20 for 30 yards. Well, I join you in disappointment this weekend. Yours is worse. Texas OU, like I said earlier, a game that Texas should have won, Kota won, they had it, let it slip away in the second half.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Just the offense just did not show up in the second half. Arch Manning, he's struggling. It's gotten, it's gotten ugly. Man, it's frustrating watching Arch play. Because you see moments of like, oh, he's him, like moments of greatness. Like he had a touchdown pass to Cam Coleman in the first quarter, I believe. Yeah. Where he kind of evades the pocket and throws across his body for a 41-yard, I mean, just through an absolute strike.
Starting point is 00:27:15 And then his second touchdown pass to Wingo, he kind of layers it in over a linebacker there, a beautiful pass up the scene for a touchdown. down. At halftime, Texas had what, a 10-point lead, I think it was. And I'm like, man, they look great. Like, OU has a great defense. All right. So I knew that Texas wasn't going to have, you know, an explosive, offensive game. But they looked really good at times on offense in the first half. And then it just fell apart. The Texas special teams has become an absolute joke at this point that punt block in the end zone for a touchdown. I mean, Texas gave up two touchdowns that weren't offensive. Special teams touchdown in the pick six in the fourth quarter, which was just an inexcusably bad
Starting point is 00:28:03 pass and decision by Arch to throw that. Yeah, the defense only gave up one touchdown, and it's just timely interceptions that were just absolute backbreakers. I mean, Texas gets the ball with under a minute. They're like around midfield with the chance. to get in field goal range and win the game, and just a really, really poor throw and decision by Arch Manning. I don't know what to think of him at this point. I mean, he's clearly struggling. He's in his head.
Starting point is 00:28:37 He's got the tools, man. Like, you can see him make these plays, and he looks really good, and then it's just, it just falls apart. I mean, part of it, I think, is, and I'm not the only Texas fan griping about this on the socials, but the offense that Sarks calling right now is just really, bad. I mean, an O-line that's struggling to protect and you have, you have a defense that is not only really good, but they're dialing up these blitz packages nonstop because every play that Sark
Starting point is 00:29:08 wants to call is this like pro style, like play action, slow developing shit down the field that takes forever. And he just doesn't have time, he doesn't have time to, to process it. He's got guys in his face. How much of that do you think is, like, where do you fall on the, it's, for like there's some kind of deal with the manning family whether handshake or otherwise that we're going to call an offense a certain way for arch's development because like he's like he should be out of the pocket more they should be running more zone you're right should be rolling out but all of that is like he's run some 10 personnel um uh for those who don't know that's one running
Starting point is 00:29:45 back zero tight end so it's just that you're your o line and then you have uh four guys split out and those plays have been successful like kind of more of a spread off Yeah. Shorter routes. And those plays have been pretty successful for the most part. But you're right. I mean, one of the draws to get Arch Manning to commit to Texas was that Sark runs a very pro-style offense. And so it's, yeah, development for the next level was a big part of it.
Starting point is 00:30:10 And he's got another five-star quarterback lined up to take the reins after Arch, Dia Bell, son of Rajabell. So he gets these guys there. He has a history of developing quarterbacks. So that might be part of it. I don't know. some point, you have to go with what works. And that the shit he's dialing up is just not working. I think they have like, I think he had 13 three and outs on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:30:36 They are really bad. Like if you look at, I'm going to try not to get to like football there, but success rate versus EPA per play, which like success rate is more down to down and EPA per play is like more, if you have more splash plays and their offense is like fully reliant on big like down to down. Yeah. They are like the 60th best. offense in the country with all like yardage and other stuff they move up to whatever it's a 24th 25th but
Starting point is 00:30:59 it is hard it's so easy for them to go three and out because they rely so much on their playmakers getting the ball to them in situationally that if they can't they can stall much quicker than you would think for a team that you think has a really good really talented offense which is obviously a big problem every time texas has a game like this where the offense is just stinky like the reporters ask them out to the game any consideration into hiring an offensive coordinator And he says not a chance. Like he is, he's very stubborn about it.
Starting point is 00:31:28 He's like, I'm, he thinks he thinks he's the best play color in the country. And he is a good play designer. He is. But the in game plays and the adjustments are just, they're just, they suck,
Starting point is 00:31:39 man. I don't know, I don't know, I don't know what to think anymore. It's really frustrating to watch. I am surprised to see that that screen pass actually worked once, but that's only because the defender cut in instead of going out. Like,
Starting point is 00:31:51 if he made the right decision, like there was a 20, you know, yard completion pretty much with that. But he was about to get tackled if the defender made the right move. Why does he keep on running this screenplay? It barely ever works, ever. He has a problem. I don't even, I haven't watched football much.
Starting point is 00:32:07 I'm like, this is like the worst play ever. Well, last year it worked a lot. And so he, I don't know, different personnel, different blocking receivers on the outside. But he has history of that thing hitting big. And he just hasn't gotten off of it this year, even though it hasn't worked one time. He has a problem. I think our friend Jake Camp of the dumb zone has pointed this out or stolen this from someone else. He calls it coaching for clout where it's like third and one, third and two, fourth and one,
Starting point is 00:32:31 fourth and two. And Sark's kind of whole offense is this. It's a lot of like check this shit out as opposed to like, how do we just keep the chains moving, which is the problem with having arch and running it that way. Like it's a lot of, like you said, a lot of the screens, a lot of this misdirection, a lot of sideline to sideline for no reason to be like, look how good of a play caller I am for when I set you up. You're right. You get one over the top here as opposed to like, you could just run Hollywood Brown outside zone for four or five yards.
Starting point is 00:32:57 You're right. You can just run Archmanning zone read. But it's like he wants to prove how smart he is. Another, there was a fourth and two that he decided not to go for instead kick a fifth. This is in the fourth quarter. It would have put Texas up by three. Decided to attempt a 53-yard field goal with a kicker who he hasn't missed yet this year, but he hasn't really hit any big kicks. And last year, he was just an average kick.
Starting point is 00:33:20 kicker and that was it that was a terrible call you because it gave he gave he missed it gave oh you a short field I think that this one they scored their touchdown yeah I was surprised they didn't go for I feel like that's a typically I was screaming at my TV yeah he and after he said I thought about for a long time he says he didn't have a come a play call confident enough to to make it in that in that moment but it was bad is it insult to injury when the kicker gets to talk a lot of shit yeah I just feel like that a little short yeah he's a good kick He's a really good kicker.
Starting point is 00:33:51 He gets to talk your shit. Hats off to Meteer. I mean, he played a, he didn't light up the stat sheet. Their offense didn't have a great game in general, actually. Our Texas defense is still really, really good. But Matured, he played a clean game, zero turnovers. And that was this whole thing before this. Like you can count on some untimely turnovers from Meteer, and that just absolutely did not happen.
Starting point is 00:34:14 So I guess credit, credit to him, credit to that defense, who made some big interceptions in that game. and just devastating. Now Texas is like, they were like 85 plus percent chance of making the playoff before that game. And I think it's probably 50% now. It was a huge, it was a huge blow. Florida this week?
Starting point is 00:34:34 Florida this week. Teams who badly need it. They have a tough, so got a tough road ahead, man. But they do have the best defenses they play this year are in the rear view mirror, which is nice. But still, the offense has got to,
Starting point is 00:34:48 just got to figure something out. He's a stubborn. Would you rather that question? That discussion is I'm seeing that a lot too. I don't know. I mean, if it, if it changes the offense, if he dials up a different style of offense, then sure. I think that's a big part. I really think, like, again, I don't want, it's not like some grand conspiracy.
Starting point is 00:35:13 I think it's just in order to get more recruits and kind of prove that this is how he does it, is this is how it. It's a deal that makes sense for everybody involved, but it's a deal that makes sense at detriment of Texas winning football games. Quinn had, Quinn had, didn't have a deep ball. So he was, he was very accurate. He threw,
Starting point is 00:35:29 he had a, you know, great armed talent, 15 yards and end, which is what is out with where he excelled. And I think Sark kind of lean into that more. Arch has a good deep ball, but he just, he's got to get off of it.
Starting point is 00:35:41 And like you said, he's not letting him run around at all. He hasn't, he has, I mean, last year, he ran all over defenses. He's not running the ball at all. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:49 I'm over it. I was so distraught that I didn't even watch UGA Bama, by the way. I told you guys when I walked in, I really thought I crushed this idea when I got in there. I recorded the game, went to the Casey Musgraves concert, stayed off my phone,
Starting point is 00:36:04 was able to successfully avoid any score updates, anything, got home at like midnight and was like, I'll throw this game on and I made it halfway through. I made it to halftime. And then woke up in like the fourth quarter of the game I was recording and watched the last like five or six minutes there.
Starting point is 00:36:20 The Texas game? No. The Bama. Bama Georgia there. But I was really, I was by myself. I was like, oh, yeah, this is, this is setting up perfectly for me. And I just didn't have, didn't have the gas in the tank to do what I, do what I wanted to do there. But yeah, great game.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Dan called it when he was here last week. He said that Georgia is clearly the best team in the country. I think that's probably true. Bama was really good, too, though. Yeah. I think, I think both teams kind of showed exactly what you would want them, like on paper, what you would have wanted them to show. Like, Bama showed that they are just as physical.
Starting point is 00:36:51 they're not going to get pushed around by Georgia like you might think of a Kalin-de-Bore coach team now. And then Georgia just found a way to win at the end of the game. Kirby's kind of proven that he's the premier coach in college football at this point, kind of the guy who took the mantle from Sabin, especially, I don't know if you saw the speech he gave, but that was pretty pretty good, firing up the guys in the locker room beforehand, kind of a, and us against them, who's the realest ones on this field, let's go show them type of deal, which is always, always cool when you back that up.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And then obviously the personal foul call and DeBoer freaking out and all of that was kind of an interesting sub sub storyline in there telling a player five star recruit that he cost him the game. And a lot of people saw that. Things to say about that. And I kind of fall on now, maybe not. I mean, he would have done it anyway regardless. But I feel like now you kind of can tell him like, hey, buddy, we pay you $1.5 million a year to not do that. To not, to not only play much better than that, but to not specifically hand them the opportunity. to run out the game against us.
Starting point is 00:37:51 So I can't understand where he's coming from there. What's this near frat stomp that almost happened? Oh, there was, I think it was outside the, the DKE house at, it was in, in Tuscaloosa. And so this is,
Starting point is 00:38:03 yeah, game is a Tuscaloosa, right? So this is credit, credit to these Georgia kids, because they're out here and they're just, they're just kind of looking for a fight. And then we just get an all time like frat,
Starting point is 00:38:15 middle fingers, throwing drinks at each other, no punches, though, happens here, no punches. We just, it is like,
Starting point is 00:38:20 exactly what people would make fun of for this like a bunch of dudes and khakis where i see randy has it up we want to play it and they just kind of throw drinks i think they throw coolate at each other at one point it's fun watching frat guys actually fight because like no one knows how to how to really do it yeah you know they're all like well-to-do white kids who don't know how to scrap this is something that uh i had a roommate in college this is something that he would joke about we just see like other guys on the streets who are clearly like frack guys and he'd be like you want to ask those guys are getting a frat rumble right now. We called him frat stomps.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Yeah, so we used to walk around campus, quote-unquote, looking for frat rumbles as a joke. Play this video. I haven't seen this yet. I think he said, Deek is gay there. One of the Georgia kids did. But to do that in enemy territory, it's pretty bold. These kids were just out looking for it, right?
Starting point is 00:39:11 Like, they were just, who's going to take us up on this opportunity here? You see the drinks flying here from... This is after the game, clearly. And it's even funnier, too, because if you're if you're not watching, which you should be on YouTube and Spotify, the, uh, DKE house is fenced in. So there's the kids in the Alabama frat don't even come out from outside the ride. They don't want it.
Starting point is 00:39:31 They're just standing on it, giving them the finger. And there's like cops of security that are like in the middle, like trying to make sure that this doesn't escalate. But it's just it's so funny. They're all dressed so frat. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like every khaki's boots.
Starting point is 00:39:45 We got the short shorts here. A lot of them, the kids are wearing like the lane kiffin looking. pull over that he used to wear at Alabama. Not a cargo pocket in sight. No. And they're just, the lowest BAC in the group there's a point one. Yeah. And it looks like, I don't know, I don't have the background on this, but it literally
Starting point is 00:40:01 looks like, I mean, there's 100 or so Georgia kids out here. It kind of looks like they just went to Alabama's Greek road to see which fraternity was outside so they could start talking shit to them. And this was just either the first one they saw or the one with the most members in view to, uh, to go taunt them. That's great stuff. Yeah, now they're all, they're all walking. away there but yeah credit to them uh in in enemy territory for uh for just going and starting starting
Starting point is 00:40:26 to rumble with these guys two other games i did not watch ls uxie lost to kentucky and oregon lost to ucola you mentioned uh raola had what what happened in that game other than him looking shitty uh so dylan raola nebraska transfer to oregon sitting behind dante more was supposed to be their backup and was supposed to like become their starter next year like the goal like the kind of an nfl thing where it's like hey you're going to sit you're going to learn the offense then you'll get a year or two to kind of boost your own draft stock after more presumably goes in the first round. He in that game against UCLA was six of 19, I believe, for 43 yards and two interceptions.
Starting point is 00:41:01 It is the worst quarterback rating a power four quarterback has turned in, I think in like the last 25 years. So he gets benched. They go to their third stringer, Brock Thomas, and they're down like 17, 9 at the time, score one more touchdown. Don't get the two. Lose the game 17, 15. Nico Aliamava for UCLA, I think he was like 10 of 17 for 96 yards.
Starting point is 00:41:23 And so that's the quarterback battle we got there. And it's just because of real at two picks and he had a fumble. So he had three turnovers. So half as many turnovers as he has completed passes. And they lost the game because of that. They are now unranked. And that was great because like he's a tough guy to root for. And I had to pretend to defend him when he was at Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:41:42 So to just see him to see him there and to see him struggling was, it was a delight to see it would have made for a perfect day. Of course, the Pat Mahomes want to be. Yes, that is who that is if you, if you forgot, hadn't heard from him for a while. And I believe now,
Starting point is 00:41:57 UCLA is 6 and O. So they are, look out, don't look now, but UCLA could be a playoff slash big 10 contender under Bob Chesney, who they just got from JMU, which is obviously where Kurt Signetti came from as well.
Starting point is 00:42:09 So that, that JMU pipeline is, is strong. And then LSU, Kentucky, Brett called it out there, the most Lane Kiffin loss of all time. They were up 10 in the second half, just kind of stopped moving the ball.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Kentucky goes for two in the win at home. They brought back the Power K, which is from like when they sucked from like 1970, something to the 90s. They're wearing like the old school uniform. And the cool thing about that is their coach Will Stein, Kentucky fan growing up. So his son, who was like five or six years old, was wearing a sweatshirt that Will Stein used to wear. I should have put this in in the rundown.
Starting point is 00:42:42 I was wearing a sweatshirt that the head coach, his dad used to wear as a kid at the game with the old school power cake. That's badass. The logo at the time of when Will Stein was growing up, they kind of went back to that logo. And he goes for two in the win, second week in a row, they beat someone 35, 34 by going for two. And Kentucky's a tough out. Five and one now. They're, they're not bad.
Starting point is 00:43:03 No, they're, and they, uh, they did the same thing to LSU. They kind of did A&M. Like they, they, they, none of them, they don't look fluky at all. Like they, their offensive lines really good. They can kind of roll over you. Their two point play was sick too. They just ran a draw on LSU wasn't ready. for it's just the whole literally like the center guard it was like the red sea parting and
Starting point is 00:43:21 keny minchie just kind of ran right in he walks right up to the camera and kind of poses for and they all jump around on it as there's a really cool kentucky social media video from that one elsewhere in the cc a and m got stomped out by mazou love to see that um won't spend too much time talking about the actual game here marceau reed is still he's he's just losing confidence week by week at this point it's really it's really bad i've it's really bad i've it's really bad I'm complaining about the arch, but me and Marcel, he's just completely lost his way. We got an all-time quote after the game, though. Mike Elko, I don't remember that.
Starting point is 00:43:58 I don't know what question was asked of him and the presser, but is there, there's a video, too, but we'll just, we'll just read this. Someone asked him about his message to the fan base, and he said there's a difference between the fan base and social media. There's one group that I really don't care much about. Billy's cesspool can go be Billy's cesspool. Our fan base, be with us, stay behind us. So Billy Lucci is that he runs text ags, which is a message board basically, all things, A&M football. And it's, I think, like, the biggest community of the sort in the country.
Starting point is 00:44:33 I believe so. But to call your most diehard fans, and that's what they are. These are the guys like message board geniuses, they have a field day pouring through. Yeah, the Tex-Ax comments, but you probably don't want to alienate your most hardcore fans by calling them a cesspool. But everyone's having a lot of fun with this one. It's also like, it's like every school, like every big team, SEC or otherwise big ten, like most of these big schools, they kind of have like their one guy. Like, they have like their one guy who's kind of like what they say, whether, I mean, indirectly or not is kind of like the voice of the fans on there.
Starting point is 00:45:14 So he didn't like this isn't just like a random reporter he's going after. Like this is a guy who is like institutionally when you talk about A&M football like he is the voice of the A&M fan at large. So to call it his cesspool like you said is not only a large portion of your fan base, but it is the largest most passionate part. Yes. Of your fan base. And I think this was pointed out on Twitter when like message board geniuses will say things and people will be like, oh, are these like real people who believe these things?
Starting point is 00:45:43 da-da-da-da. And a lot of college football reporters from people who do this type of thing will chime in and be like, you would be shocked who some of the people behind these usernames are. Like it's not like Reddit where you're like, oh, they're all losers, whatever. Like this is like, no, like your real donors are like on some of these message boards. No doubt about it. Like there, yeah, there are like real life millionaire boosters who I'm sure are very active on techs eggs who are very offended by this and maybe rightfully so. If Billy Lucci doesn't have 10,000, and Billy's cesspool t-shirts being printed as we speak. What is he even doing?
Starting point is 00:46:17 Yeah. And that's the power of that is like he will make a lot of money for the. Like this is great for him right here to be able to have this. Yeah, just not, not what you want to say after you lose and just kind of. That's the type of thing gets fired in college ways. Just like things like this and the momentum gets going and then you snap your fingers. And it's like, man, they were 10 and one 10 months ago and now he's gone. And like that's the type of thing that happens especially in the SEC.
Starting point is 00:46:42 see. So just not, not good for Mike. Yeah, they look, they look really bad. Yeah, they are, they look, they look off when you can't have it's, it's one thing when you have a coach who's kind of like Elko, like when things are rolling. But when you have a guy who's like not great in front of the mic and things aren't going well and he's a little little Josh Hypo unsightly, it just compounds very, very quickly when you have a fat coach who can't talk very well, trying to explain what's going wrong. So we have a couple NFL notes. But before we do that, this episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Did you guys know that Saturday, October 10th was World Mental Health Day?
Starting point is 00:47:17 If you thought about trying therapy with our long-term partner BetterHelp, insurance options may now be available nationwide with an average co-pay for eligible members of just $23 per session. Your mental health does not know its World Mental Health Day. Stress does not politely wait until October 10th. Therapy isn't just for big live choices. It can be a place to talk through the smaller things in life too. Maybe your work situation is taking up too much mental real estate and relationship dynamic can't quite you can't quite name or simply the sense that something feels off.
Starting point is 00:48:00 If you've been waiting to start therapy better help works with more than 125 health plan networks and eligible members have an average copay of just $23 per session with insurance. Visit betterhelp.com slash circling to explore your payment options. That's a better help.com slash circling. Two NFL notes, like I mentioned, Jaden Daniels at the end of the commanders game, they play the Giants. Yes.
Starting point is 00:48:27 Yes. NFC East Battle there. And with about a minute to go, they're in field goal range, like the 22-ish yard line. zero timeouts and the clock's running down and they're taking their sweet time. I don't know what was going on. After the game, someone mentioned that in the huddle, they did mention the fact that there were no timeouts. So you want to play, the options there are to do it quickly and enough time to spike it and set up the field goal to win the game because it's tied at this point.
Starting point is 00:48:59 Or you got to kill the clock. You got to spike it. You got to throw it. If there's no play at the sideline available, you got to throw it out of balance. You got to kill the clock. the only two things that can happen there. The many compounding mistakes there were, yeah, like you said, I think it was like 50 something seconds left. They huddle, first of all, which they have plenty of time to do. They come out. They still don't snap the ball. They
Starting point is 00:49:23 finished that play at like 23, 24 seconds. And they still are unable to, or they re-huddled, and they still are unable to get back to the line and run the play. So I don't know if it was just. So he kind of scrambles around a little bit and it hits the dirt. Yeah. And then everyone gets up with like 18 seconds left or something. And no one has any sense of urgency. Like they just go. It was bizarre.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Yeah, they just go like they're going to run a regular play. And it's just kind of like the slow. It's kind of like that Bears play. It was it just against the Packers where it was like the slow or what Eber Flues. It was like the slow realization of like, all right, 15 seconds. All right. 10th. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:49:59 They're not going to be able to run a plan. It just happens like in slow motion as you realize like they're huddling up and they're going to the line and like as they're at the line it's about to go dead and you're like they have no there's had no idea what was going on there so like you said i don't know if it was daniels i don't know if it was it was there was like one lineman who was like who understood the situation he was like guys we have to line up and the receivers are still like kind of they're walking back and just nobody yeah nobody knew and that was after scadaboo handed the game by fumbling when the Giants were just trying to set up their field goal, just trying to
Starting point is 00:50:32 re-senter the ball, Camp Scada boo, not wearing gloves when it's raining out, which feels very Camp Scabble. And he fumbles, so he gets left off the hook there. But yeah, just like four or five times, like if this happened to like a fifth grader playing Madden, like it would have been like that one happened. You would know to like run a play real quick or clock the ball or stay in bounds or throw it out about there's like seven things that could have gone differently. And then afterward, Dan Quinn was just kind of like stunned.
Starting point is 00:50:59 himself was like i destroyed his headset yeah and so i i feel like it was jane daniel is either forgetting or not realizing it had to have just been an all-time brain fart but i don't know how everybody brain farts and nobody is like hey get back no one in the headset and anywhere is going hey get back to the line dude uh the last NFL thing mike evans with just an all-time shit talk move to traybon digs played this video this is this is great i've never seen this one before but it's so good um he they're jawing at each other and he kind of turns dig's shoulders to look at the the nameplate on the back because he wasn't like who are you and we've seen people do the like kind of peek behind in other sports in the past but never the the full shoulder turn yeah i am going to physically
Starting point is 00:51:42 turn you around and play this one and jack so it looks at um mike evans by the way still doing it yeah that guy just refuses to age and and yeah even funnier that this is like at the point in the game where mike evans is catching every crucial ball on third down he ends up going for 120 in a touchdown and digs was elevated from the practice squad recently and obviously digs doesn't take too kindly to it this is so good the most extreme version my favorite and one shirt of all time is i went to your hood and nobody knew who you were this is this is what this is that's exactly by the way former pro bowler it's not he's not a nobody defensive back so yeah he he tried to say afterward he was like no i was trying to really make sure that it was trevon dix because i thought it might
Starting point is 00:52:22 have been him so i i physically grabbed him to check but yeah just uh And all time, who are you? What are you doing on my field? I don't even know who you are. All right. This next step, by the way, this is going to be a very randy-coded one. What's with these video game mashups? Oh, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:52:38 All right. So recently, this was big over the weekend. I don't know if it's a new AI or something. These people are reverse engineering like all these old video games. Like usually when you like deliver a package, it's happening with, you know, Adobe products too. and there's going to be probably a huge lawsuit about this too. But like when you release a product, the program, it's compiled a compiled code,
Starting point is 00:53:05 which means that it's pretty much just all ones and zeros. Like you can't tell what it is all that. But now AI is able to like look at all that and like bring it back and like put it into like source code. So people can see, oh, this is what this is. This is this is. And right now people are doing it for video games. And what this is causing is a bunch of people.
Starting point is 00:53:26 to mash up old video games and take two video games and put them together. And it's been extraordinarily like funny to watch. The AI itself is maybe concerning down the road, but like I don't know if you've seen any of these. I think like one of them that I think you'll enjoy Dylan here is the Tiger Woods one. Yeah, the Tiger Woods. Oh, that's the wee bowling one. Oh yeah. So this is like Tiger Woods in Call of Duty zombies and he's just like teeing off into these zombies.
Starting point is 00:53:56 like that's how you play the game. Okay. So they're just like, are they playable or you're? Yeah. So like they're all modded games pretty much, but they're taking old school games and they're just mashing them up like there. And there's just thousands of examples,
Starting point is 00:54:08 Mario 64 and Halo and he, it's just Mario going around with, uh, with a gun and like killing grunts and elites. They put like, we bowling and calling you these. I saw this. I saw this one.
Starting point is 00:54:20 It is, oh my God. Like they have the like, like, like you, the box. and stuff. This is so stupid. They took, uh, there's, here's Red Bull Racing on a rainbow road and Mario
Starting point is 00:54:36 cart. It's, it's insane the stuff that they're doing now. And this, this was really funny. They put, uh, they put skates or Tony, you know, in Call of Duty. So you can just go on Call of Duty maps and like skate around them now. Okay. Yeah, this happened for me. We were talking about this.
Starting point is 00:54:55 I've been playing the, uh, Pokemon, TechMobile one, which kind of took over my timeline, a lot of like, which Pokemon are you putting at which position? That's kind of how it got started. As one guy tweeted out, like his, his Pokemon football lineup. And then someone made the like 82 and O type game where you make a lineup of Pokemon and it spits out like what your record would be. And then that is accelerated all the way to using the old TechMobile interface and you draft
Starting point is 00:55:18 Pokemon like its backyard baseball. And then you're able to play football. And again, it looks, it looks just like TechMobile, but like Charzards, you're starting quarterback. even though I think Charzard is more of a receiver. That's been a lot of, uh, okay. There's been a lot of niche jokes in that, though, that, uh, if you're, if you're a Pokemon fan, Charzart has a lot of wide receiver one energy in like the best way.
Starting point is 00:55:37 Is it like he won't listen to you if he gets overpowering, all the tools. He might, he might not be paying attention sometimes. He might not be given the best effort, especially when he's disgruntled. But if you can, if you can harness him for good, he's going for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdown. Charzart is definitely the Antonio Brown of Pokemon. Yeah, exactly. And so, yeah, you guys are younger than me.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Did you ever play Tecmo Bowl, like the old, the old Tecmo Bowl games? Yeah, I think one of my friends had like one of the super Nintendo, but one of the later versions of the... Okay. So never like the OGOG. The earlier ones, there were two players in the game that if you controlled those players, you were pretty much unbeatable. It was the Giants because you had Lawrence Taylor on defense who was like three times faster and everybody else.
Starting point is 00:56:21 And then Boe Jackson and the running back. If you had one of those, he played for the Raiders in this game. if you were one of those teams, you were just, you cannot lose. It was really fun to play. Were you guys talking about this, the other, something came up with Bo Jackson, but the handheld. Yeah, the handheld Bo Jackson. You could play baseball and, I never knew that exists.
Starting point is 00:56:40 I did. Yeah. When I, when I looked that up, I was like, that's the greatest, that's the coolest thing that I've ever seen, the greatest cross marketing that you could ever have. It was really cool. Yeah. For Bo Jackson there. So, I mean, it, it's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:56:52 I'm just like getting served all these people doing these. these mashups of games, like you have Spider-Man, like, swinging around Gotham City because they put, like, Spider-Man in, like, you know, Dark Night Arkham City or whatever. It's just, it's just insane that, like, what they can do nowadays. And I imagine that this Tecmo Bowl thing too is similar or just vibe-coded. That's exactly what it was. And, like, Google had announced that they're, like, doing an AI that should make it really easy for anyone to create video games. And it's like, stuff like this is really fun with AI. And it's like, oh, this is, like, cool. And, like, watch all this and it's funny, but then it's kind of like, well, you're saying AI can just like all these very secure games and packages can now just decompile and anyone can see it. Like it's kind of scary for like every program and the security of all of our.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Yeah, I saw one that was like, I guess they were painting as a good thing, but it's just it was an interesting use of like actual use of AI, not just like build the data center slop of like someone made their own presumably on Photoshop of their Pokemon as their starting lineup. someone then made a program where you can insert your own Pokemon into your starting lineup. Someone then makes another program where you can play a game and see how your Pokemon lineup would do in a fictional world. Then someone takes that to the next level and says, all right, we can fully play this out now. Here's your Pokemon video game.
Starting point is 00:58:10 That is literally one weekend. Yeah, it's a matter of days. Yeah. And this was like I clicked on it because I have no idea. I'm not really into all that stuff. But I clicked on the Pokemon one and I was like, let's see how this works.
Starting point is 00:58:20 And it takes you just right to a website. It's like an old school like arc. arcade game on there. And you can just play, you can just play this game that didn't exist that came from like one small idea that was planted online 48 hours prior. And now there's a full playable video game. So like you said, take that for what you will, whether good or bad. But I did find that to be like one of the first times I was actually interested in like,
Starting point is 00:58:43 oh, this is like what AI could do if you harness it properly. Yes. And then the big thing too with this whole decod compiling the video games is, they're doing it for Adobe products, so like Photoshop and all this. And they're like, hey, we're able to reverse engineer this and we're putting out for free. It's open source. You should be using this and not paying Adobe all that. I'm sure Adobe is going to find a way to do a huge lawsuit and find out who's doing all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:59:09 So it's like people are thinking they're doing it good, but it's like also all this, you know, intellectual property and like programs. It's like, well, when can they, like, when is China just going to be like, oh, let's get like, you know, everyone's secure data in America. and like take it or we take it to some other country it's it's a that's like the scary like doom scroll part of it yeah my my humorism is once i kind of realize that there's a world where they get access to like everything you've ever googled ever and anything you've ever like looked up or held on a device pretty easily eventually that's around like ah wow yeah it's over we're cooked that's no way yeah that's that's not but i'll enjoy mario 64 and halo for the time being i'll be i'll be throwing touchdowns from from kibutops to charzard so it's going to be sick

Starting point is 01:01:25 This hit the TL. Someone has ranked the top 35 best text max joints in Texas. And this list was brought to us by, what is it? Rich O tool. No, he just tweeted it out. He didn't put it together. Got the ritual tool, though. He's a, we've been following each other for a minute.
Starting point is 01:01:46 Who put this list together? Says Discovery Matt. discovery matt okay i don't really know who this is but they don't know a whole lot about text mix i'll tell you that um can you can make this a little bit bigger uh yeah discovery matt by the way a hundred twelve thousand followers on instagram so they must they're at least reputable right um granted a lot of these places i've never been to but if you go down the list a little bit so number three jo t garthias joe t garcias which i'm sure you're familiar with i am i've been there one I think and it was years and years ago.
Starting point is 01:02:21 It was some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had. That's actually a lot of people don't like the food. Like the food being bad is what people say about it very quickly on there. I actually don't think the food that's is that bad. I just don't think it's worth it. Yeah, but you're from Minnesota. Yeah. Is this the place?
Starting point is 01:02:36 It feels a little dismissive of this whole thing. Yeah. Is this the place that's at the stockyards, like the big place? Yeah, I'm the corner. Okay. The one that everyone stops in there. The one that everyone stops in there. Like, you got to go to the patio.
Starting point is 01:02:47 It's all okay. that I enjoyed my experience. I'm guessing this list is more based around like success of the establishment and not just the quality of the food because Matt's Orancho is number five. We love Matt Al Rancho. We love Matt So Rancho. It's one of my favorite places in the world to go eat. I'm not going to put its food up with the best in Texas. It's just not that.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Yeah. My Chewy's even being on here is a bit of. Chewis is that's funny. That's a bit of an affront, you know, like Miko Sina being number eight again feels like the integrity of what one of these lists should be, should not. include mecosino especially not down in texas location i'll tell you that much l tumpo though in houston they have really good fajitas okay that's the place that we went to right really good for yes um let's see yeah this stuff's all over um i see etcho in waco it looks like they misspelled etcho in mexico which is not tax mex by the way modis is on here number 26
Starting point is 01:03:45 Motties is not great food. It's okay. Will has flipped so much on Motties. He, like, used to hate it, and now I feel like they go often. I got him back in on Motties, I think. I told him to give it another shot, and he did, and he likes it again. It's not bad, but it doesn't belong on any top list. Lubei Tortilla.
Starting point is 01:04:01 Shows to Mika. Yeah, I'd be curious from a San Antonio listener about Ray's Drive, because I imagine that's just like the most popular stock place in San Antonio would be my guess. I could be completely wrong, and someone will Texas explain it to me. Maybe it's just based on popularity. Yeah, but that's that's kind of the vibe. Like I said, the vibe I get from this entire list is just kind of like, it's a trip advisor list, which if you, if you pull up, what's this guy named Discovery Matt, that kind of seems to be, he's, he's doing a lot of ranking. He's stretched a little thin on his ranking.
Starting point is 01:04:31 So I think he's just kind of reading the, reading the trip advisor, reading the travel blogs and then spitting out slot for engagement. At number two is NNFAS. I haven't been to the one on navigation in Houston, but NNFIS is okay. it's solid. Why do they specifically have that one location for only nymphas? Yeah. Because I don't know. I guess because it's the original.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Because we have like there's 12 nicasinas. Yeah. Chewy zupe tortilla tortilla. These are chains at this. Rose's cafe even. Yeah. So there's, I don't know. I'm again, apparently I'm not one to talk, but I'm throwing a flag on this list as,
Starting point is 01:05:05 as this is just, this is just lowest common denominator. Spitting out a list here from our friend Discovery, Matt. I wonder how many. people on Billy Sestepel go to Fuego Tortilla grill at Dodge Station. Here's the strength of Billy Sestepel. I bet Billy Sestepel, I bet a member of Billy Sestepel has been to every one of these restaurants.
Starting point is 01:05:25 I bet multiple members of Billy Sestepel have been to each of these restaurants. Shout out of Herbert's Taco Hut in San Marcos. That's a San Marcos staple for sure. All right. Well, they got to be hired 32 then, maybe. I do understand that Dave should have been here for this one. We maybe should have saved it for him. He probably has some takes.
Starting point is 01:05:41 He can revisit it tomorrow if he wants to. Yeah, he'll definitely have a little or a lot more to say on this. So we got three, Austin, on here, right? Mats, Chewys and Motties. Right. Chewys and Motties are both chains, by the way. Matt's is not. Well, it kind of is.
Starting point is 01:06:00 There's one in, there's one in, like, Dallas area, but it's totally different. Yeah. Yeah, and then, yeah, like, and one, the only one in Fort Worth is, is Jot's, which is like the eighth best Mexican. It's like the fifth best Mexican restaurant on the street it's on. Yeah. You drive by in order to get to Joe T. Garcia, as you drive by seven incredibly authentic Mexican places.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Right. So like I said, it doesn't even, it's not even number three on its own block. All right. We'll see if Dave has some takes tomorrow. Yeah. All right. That's it for today. Bye.
Starting point is 01:06:36 Right. Bye. Ranchos, the metal ranchos.
