Starting point is 00:00:00 all right we're back circling back podcast party pod time my name is will the freeze coming to you live from the lodge my right david ruff time to party let's party wedding edition dylan are you ready to party? Wedding edition. Let's party. Let's party. I was calling it a power pod. I don't hate it. I don't hate it. Why would it be a power pod, though?
Starting point is 00:00:32 Because it's just quick and powerful. Because we're a power couple? Yeah, that too. Cool. I like party pod more than like bonus pod. Party pod's the best. Love a good party pod. Yeah, so you got married.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Why are we here? Because you got married. Yeah. People are just like, there's a frenzy of people wanting information and the recap and the story and why it was kept a secret and all that shit. So I figured we'd just drill you with questions. Drill me with questions. We'll give you the floor.
Starting point is 00:01:03 I will say. Opening statement. For Sally's take on everything, I'm having her on Sunday Scaries this week. I've already gotten a bunch of questions, so there's a lot of stuff we're going to cover. Much more from her perspective. Nice.
Starting point is 00:01:14 So go to Sunday Scaries, subscribe there. We're going to do that. It probably won't be the same questions that you guys are asking me if I know you guys as well as I think I do. So can I lead off here? Let's just just chronological order the wedding was supposed to be in august yes the wedding was moved to february yes and what just i guess that's the first story so she's she's not pregnant we can confirm that okay she put up an instagram story of her drinking
Starting point is 00:01:41 my mom actually asked that too yeah she's not pregnant uh essentially what it what it was, and I don't want to get too far into it because I don't want to sound like I'm slighting anybody because there's truly no one to blame. But TLDR, planning a big wedding, destination wedding, in a place where you aren't, which is I guess the definition of a destination wedding, the logistics became so difficult that we just got kind of frustrated. And without our wedding planner, we would have probably scrapped the idea long before,
Starting point is 00:02:15 but she was so good at what she did that we made it really far into the process of doing it. And then right before Christmas, right before we had to put down a bunch of big non-refundable deposits, a couple issues came up that amplified the stress of everything. And we were like, you know what, let's just, let's do something different. And so we came up with a few ideas. We didn't have anything in our minds. And then we went to Scotland and England and we were kind of leaning towards just doing something really small. And then once we got back, we just made the decision. We were like, we're going to do Laguna Beach. One of our friends is a, I don't know, this probably isn't her actual title, but she's a travel agent.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And so she sent us a few options and we already had been to Laguna Beach and we were like, yeah, we loved it out there. We loved the resort. If it's feasible, let's do it. It turned out to be feasible and we were like, all, we loved it out there. We loved the resort. If it's feasible, let's do it. It turned out to be feasible, and we were like, all right, let's do it. Let's just make it happen. And so it was a happy decision. I don't want people to think it was like a sad decision that we made.
Starting point is 00:03:13 It was a decision that we're very happy with. And then, obviously, I thought it was just going to be just family. I was going to ask you, what did you think the guest list looked like going into the week? Immediate family. Okay. My parents, my sister, her husband, Sally's parents, her siblings, and then their two kids and their significant others. I thought it was just that. And so I had a feeling something was up.
Starting point is 00:03:38 That changes the planning process significantly because you've got to account for, I mean, three times the amount of people. Because there were more people than I expected. Yeah. There are 51. And yeah, the weird thing was like when, when we were planning, I just assumed that because it was so small scale that we weren't going to, I wasn't going to have to do much. And I was like, Oh, Sally, the wedding planner and Sally's mom can handle all of this. And so I was never asked any logistical questions. The only time I started getting kind of annoyed was when I wanted to pick the menu for dinner and Sally was being evasive with me. And I didn't know if it was because she had already chosen the menu or what, but I was like, like, let me see the menus. I want to, I want to see what we're eating and doing. And
Starting point is 00:04:18 finally she let me pick and I ended up picking the same, pretty much the same thing she picked. So it was kind of, it was not a big deal. I got the sea bass. It was pretty bomb. I got the sea bass as well. Yeah. I kind of forgot that we put sea bass on the menu. Sally and I split the surf and turf. We also got four bullet makers to go along with it.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Huge. Ate hella cake, too. You did? Oh, yeah. Good-ass cake. They was caked up at that wedding. It was good. Good cake.
Starting point is 00:04:42 What's the cake? I don't even know. I dipped it in my coffee. Wow. It was good. Good cake. What's the cake? I don't even know. I dipped it in my coffee. Wow. I mean, is it black, white, buttercream, marble, like red velvet? Where are we going here? Calm down, Brett.
Starting point is 00:04:53 It was white. I'm trying to paint a picture here, Dylan. It's a wedding. White, white frosting. It was white for Will. Yeah. It was a good-ass cake, though. I didn't have a full piece, but we did do the cute, like, here's some cake.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Dude, when y'all put in each other's faces, man. Yeah, I thought about just taking the back of her head and just slamming it right into the cake. Yeah, you should have. That would have been messed up. A fun thing for me, and probably for Dave, too, is that we slowly revealed that we were also in Laguna Beach, and people started to put pieces of the puzzle together. Reddit started to pop off. Like, hmm, a lot of people just guessing
Starting point is 00:05:31 why we were secretly sneaking off to Laguna Beach together. And you had been there for a few days. Dave got there, and then I was there even after Dave. When I got there, they're like, oh, okay, you went on vacation with the Youngs. A lot of speculation getting thrown around. A lot of people called it, too. They were like, oh, this has got. Okay, you went on vacation with the Youngs. A lot of speculation getting thrown around. A lot of people called it, too. They were like, oh, this has got to be a wedding.
Starting point is 00:05:47 So I'm not going to lie. We did two listener meetups pretty much before this. Or no, I guess just one. Dallas? In Dallas. Yeah. Well, Dallas and Denver. Yeah, we had just made the decision to do it,
Starting point is 00:06:00 and in Dallas, a lot of people were asking me about the wedding, and I felt so guilty lying to them that, like, if somebody asked if we weren't in a big crowd of people I'd be like yeah so we changed deals oh really and so I told probably four couples at the Dallas meetup and I was like please don't tell anybody like but I don't I was like I don't want to I feel like a dick lying uh but I didn't divulge that much information to them but yeah i was a little worried about the decision that we made because i thought people would be really pissed but everybody was really psyched so definitely people were very nice about it so i posted a gram before the ceremony of dave and i in suits yeah uh and this was probably half an hour before
Starting point is 00:06:37 that ceremony started and so during the whole ceremony before dave finally posted a video of y'all like walking down the aisle or whatever, my notice were just popping. Yeah, right afterwards you told me you were like, oh, it's going off right now. I made the mistake of having Instagram notifications on my watch, so I get a little vibration every time I get a message or response from someone that I follow. And it was just going crazy. It was distracting. Let me ask you this.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I was following pretty closely on social friday sally's sister dropped a hashtag when scaries met sally yeah and i was like like whoa whoa that's the social embargo deal and i was like is that deleted what i almost texted you when i saw it yeah and i was like man that's will's just gonna be like stressed out well so the reason so you guys i i listened to the the podcast from Monday that you guys pre-recorded. And the issue that I was having ahead of the wedding was that because I thought it was family only, I had not told several people who I would want, I wanted them to find out from me. And so part of the reason I wanted to put a social media embargo on it for the night
Starting point is 00:07:47 was only just to wait for Sally to post or me to post so that any person that didn't know ahead of time would know and not feel like they just heard through the grapevine. They got slighted. And so I didn't want people to get slighted. It wasn't like we weren't trying to do some surprise thing to blow social media up or we weren't trying to not have people post anything because we were like doing that i think people doing that's totally fine in terms of like not
Starting point is 00:08:09 having a lot of things posted but that wasn't the reason that we were doing it i just felt would have felt bad had like some of my close friends who i hadn't told yet whatever like but it turns out like once i read once i got surprised and found out how many people were there it made way more sense to just open the floodgates and be like post whatever you want it doesn't matter got it and so yeah that's that was the main reason i didn't want to do anything because that was that was the first one i saw period i was like whoa yeah i i saw it too and i was like you know what not a big deal like if people start figuring it out they're gonna eventually figure it out anyway so it was like i, I'm not going to be the groom. I actually, or like a groomzilla.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I never told anybody while we were out there not to post anything. Gotcha. I kind of dabbled in it at a dinner like three days before. And I'm pretty sure Sally's entire family was just like, okay, yeah, whatever, dude. But it was not something that was like a priority going into the weekend anymore. Got it. But it was not something that was like a priority going into the weekend anymore. Got it.
Starting point is 00:09:11 So when we landed, as soon as we – I had paid the $8 for the Southwest Wi-Fi. Huge. So I was able to text. And right before we landed, I look at my phone and you texted Dylan and I. And you just said – it said, you guys, period. And I knew right then. I was like, oh, no. He fucking knows. Well, like once a couple people
Starting point is 00:09:26 once i had seen some of my friends from michigan i was like obviously i was like all right who else is coming and i because i truly had no clue and so i just kind of asked like whatever like and they they did ask me if i wanted to keep some of them a secret but there were certain people that i had to know like it was just a need-to-know basis. Who told you about me and Dave? I don't remember. I think it was your mom. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I'll be honest. I didn't really eat that day because when I get stressed out, I don't really eat a lot, and so I was very stressed leading up to the wedding. I can tell you didn't eat a lot because when I saw you that night. I was eating a lot of salads because i was just trying to eat something yeah and uh when once i saw my michigan friends i just started firing down drinks like could not oh yeah it was it was just kind of like it was an accident that i drank that much like obviously i
Starting point is 00:10:17 kind of wish i didn't drink that much i don't even remember seeing dave and alissa so we got there we got we rented a car at LAX, did the shuttle. Don't fly to LAX at Friday night. It's just not fun. Drove down, made it down in like an hour and 15 minutes, which wasn't bad, and go to our little bed and breakfast, and then we go meet y'all, you and the Harbor guys and gals at dinner. I knew, I told Alyssa, I was like,
Starting point is 00:10:42 we're going to probably have to fend for ourselves on food. I bet they've already eaten. Not only had y'all already eaten, but y'all had already cleaned that place out of every bit of booze they had. We were torched, man. I knew exactly what I was getting into because it's like, okay, these are high school friends. This is like the real-life version of the group text coming to life for an event. And like everybody, people were passed out at the table. Will was, I was worried you you were gonna fall through a table oh dude sir i mean i was gone man part of the issue too was that the drinks that they were making at the party where like i saw everybody
Starting point is 00:11:16 for the first time the drinks they were making there were so strong and my friend like my buddies from home aren't averse to drinking strong drinks, and even they were like, whew, those were aggressive. What were they? Just anything. It was an open bar, like a lot of margaritas, a lot of tequila sodas going around. But the bartender, she was just pouring stiff drinks. What bar was it at?
Starting point is 00:11:34 It was called The Cliff. And we were literally on a cliff, I guess. The FOMO was eating me alive. Yeah, I can understand that. This is the second destination wedding I'm done with this group where I was the very last person to show up. This one was completely out of my hands. I had to go to the dome.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Both times you arrived while we were at the pool. Yeah. And like 10 minutes away from leaving. Honestly, like it was killing me. I'm so sorry. I was like, I've got to get out there. It was out of my hands. The homie had a birthday party.
Starting point is 00:12:02 That part of This Weekend of Fun was actually very accurate. He had a birthday party on Saturday. We weren't invited. Of course I had to do that. Did you guys have any moments where you thought you might have slipped up and said something? Yeah. No, but there was a moment. If you listen to Monday's pod, I think I talked about it a little bit.
Starting point is 00:12:20 I was texting Brett while we were sitting here recording. Yeah, what came up? Because we were talking about our weekend plans plans and I didn't want him questioning Dave too much about golf because Dave was pretending to go to to plan a play with us but of course we knew he wasn't going to I didn't want Brett being like wait why can't you play or something like that so I was like Brett don't mention anything about the wedding because and here's why so I have broke it to Brett as we were recording behind your back. Because things got kind of silent during this weekend in fun last week.
Starting point is 00:12:50 That's why. And I was like, man, that kind of just fizzled out. And I was like, in my head, I was like, man, I wish I could offer more to this weekend in fun. But I truly cannot say anything. Yeah, I was like, I got a birthday party for the homie, and then I'm just chilling. Yeah, I did not know what to do. And I was very excited to play golf yeah we did play golf which we did did you see did you see any of that where we we tagged dave yeah so i yeah like honestly like
Starting point is 00:13:13 there was shit like that like the extent people went to he posted a photo from mats it wasn't my buddy that's yeah dude my buddy my buddy i i check Find Friends all the time. He logged into his old phone on Find Friends, left it in San Francisco at his apartment. Oh, God. Come on. And he did it with his wife's phone, too, her old phone. And so I was, like, shocked. I couldn't believe it. That's, wow.
Starting point is 00:13:38 But I was confused. That's kind of tight. Two of my buddies were in L.A., but it's the two buddies that I have who would 100% go there for work. And so I hit one of them up and I was like, hey, dude, if you want to get lunch before you leave, like, that'd be awesome. And he played it so well. Almost like, now that I look back on it, like, he might have laid it on too thick afterwards. And then the other one, he was just like, yeah, I'm flying out soon. And then we talked to his wife on the phone because she was the one who planned everything for us.
Starting point is 00:14:02 And she was like, yeah, I've got a baby shower this weekend. And so, like, everyone sold it so well to me and it was it was it was really good i still thought there was a surprise coming but i i did not know the magnitude and so that was pretty fun nice that's tight i woke up feeling terrible on saturday morning because i obviously i saw dave and i was in rare form and I had been putting off editing Sunday scaries until Saturday morning because I was, I mean, I was on vacation. I didn't want to do it.
Starting point is 00:14:31 It took me, it usually takes me about 45 minutes to just do everything. It took me two and a half hours. I was just sitting on a couch outside of our like hotel room with the rain drizzling, drinking coffee. And I was just dead. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:14:44 this is a really chill sitch, but like, I need to do this because i need to go see people kind of better that the surprise of everyone showing up um happened like days before the wedding because if it happened like at the ceremony right before you would have been a mess yes yes no i'm glad it happened before i was already kind of a mess like i told everybody like hey i'm gonna cry like oh yeah 100 gonna cry and i cry i cried numerous times nice uh what's the uh so you got there thursday right yeah thursday friday like what did you did you play any golf with drew or did you no so that's actually another weird thing because lily's husband drew is a big golfer and he asked me if i want to play golf on like
Starting point is 00:15:21 friday morning only friday morning and i was like no no, man, I think I'm going to skip it. Like my family's going to be there. My dad doesn't really play golf. So I'm going to go just hang out with them. And he didn't push any harder. And Drew is the type that if he calls me, he's like really letting me have it. Like, are you seriously not going to play golf with us?
Starting point is 00:15:37 He played twice. Yeah. But I'm glad he didn't push harder because had I brought my golf clubs out and stuff, I would have been aching to go hang out with people while I was on the course. What course did they play? I mean, it looked beautiful. Pelican Hill and another one.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Gotcha. God, Pelican Hill's sick. I know. I told him after, I was like, dude, I didn't know you were playing Pelican Hill. I might have gone and done it with you. You know what would be tight to have? The montage. Montague? Montage. Montage. hill like i might have done it with you you know it'd be tight to have it like the month was the month of you montage if like a hotel just had a uh like a putting green oh yeah out in like
Starting point is 00:16:14 the pool area no no holes no anything but just a putting great actually be great did that resort the montage is absurd it's. Like the most picturesque. I mean, the grass is perfect. Everything. That's why we decided to do it there. We went to a wedding in October of last year, I believe it was at the montage. And it was a very big wedding. It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:16:38 And we were so impressed with it that we were like, we have to go back here one day. Like when we can afford to come back here because it's a very expensive resort. And once the idea got thrown around that we could do it there, I was like sold. Because like, I love California. I had never been to Laguna Beach before last fall. And then I kind of fell in love with it. And so I was always down to do it.
Starting point is 00:16:56 I had pitched doing it a couple of times in California when we were tossing around ideas for stuff. Honestly, the second option behind that was going back to scotland oh yeah you mentioned if we were just we were thinking about just doing that and yeah like we did i just want at one point i just wanted to get over with after we decided that we weren't going to do the big giant thing yeah i was like all right now i just want to do it like what can we do to expedite this and luckily sally wasn, she hasn't been working because she's got a downtime between starting her job tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:17:28 And so the timeframe just kind of worked out perfectly. Was there any competition with the other wedding at the montage? They wouldn't let us have it on Saturday. That's why we did Sunday afternoon because they already had one planned for Saturday. And they were like, no, when you are here, you are the only like, yeah, when you hear you, which I actually kind of dropped that during my speech. Did you guys realize that?
Starting point is 00:17:47 Yeah, you definitely did. We laughed about it. And I didn't mean to say that, but I did. But if they were doing a private event on that, on the grounds, they wouldn't let you do another one. We were like, okay, that's fine. And then I was like, honestly, Sunday's kind of on brand for us anyway. Let's just do that. And it ended up being the exact five-year anniversary
Starting point is 00:18:05 of the first time that Sally and I had ever spoken to each other. No shit. The exact five-year anniversary, which was weird. How about that? Damn, small world. Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of when I picked up her engagement ring. I don't know. There's a lot of exact days that I was just like, this is weird.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Are you factoring in the leap year day? Yeah, I'm not factoring in the leap year, so it might be different. Mercury has recently become retrograde, so that might make sense. Did you think about moving it once you found out Mercury would be the Everglades? I did. I was just like, we've got to switch this. This is bad. Yeah, I get it.
Starting point is 00:18:39 What was your sleeping sitch? We had a deal there where we were getting a reduced rate on the room. We had a free night. They upgraded us. And then when we got there, they were like, oh, we've actually upgraded you again. And so we had the dopest hotel room ever. No shit. It was a suite, a two bedroom or two rooms, like giant suite.
Starting point is 00:19:04 I think it had more square footage in our apartment now. It definitely did. Had a fireplace between the bedroom and the other thing that you could access from both sides. Nice. Massive TVs opened up to a lawn and then there was a public walkway. And then on the other side of the public walkway was just beautiful flowers, benches overlooking the ocean, and then a cliff that led down to a beach. And I was like, this is the best.
Starting point is 00:19:28 We got there, and Sally's going to kill me for saying this, but we walked in and she was like, we can't really see the water. Is it rude if I ask them to switch rooms? And I was like, Sally, stop. I was like, we cannot go down this path. We are in the most baller hotel room of all time. Then the next day she was like, I'm so sorry for asking if we could switch rooms. Like this is the coolest place on earth. I was like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And now like she was like, if we ever go back for an anniversary, we have to stay in that room. I'm like, oh, expensive. Better get the reduced rate. Free night. I had something to ask you guys too. Oh, I was going to ask, Dave, what'd you get for dinner?
Starting point is 00:20:04 I went with the beef, whatever the steak was. Pretty good. Yeah, it was good. Pretty good. No, dude, I ate, damn, I can't remember all the courses, but some of the earlier ones I was very impressed with. Dude, that roasted beet salad, are you kidding me? It was a ricotta.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Oh, the risotto? Risotto. Dude, the mushroom risotto, I told Sally when I was eating it, I was like, this might be one of the best things I've ever eaten. I don't know if I've ever had anything like that. That was excellent. It was so flavorful. And, yeah, the wine, they kept topping me off,
Starting point is 00:20:30 so I could have had anywhere from six glasses to 16, and it wouldn't shock me. It's possible. Was there any truffle appearances? No, I don't. They had some options on the menu with truffle, and I was like, Sally, we're not doing truffle. The people at that little, where we did it at, like the back bar and everything,
Starting point is 00:20:48 they were very nice. Everybody who worked in that resort was just fantastic. Part of the reason I like that resort so much is because they are very high on service. They pride themselves. I think the entire resort is based on service. We didn't tip the valets every time we went. We didn't tip them at all until the last day when we gave them a big tip and like the guy like I gave him a big tip and I was like I'm sure this
Starting point is 00:21:12 will find the right hands because it's pretty small crew there you started recognizing people and he gave me this like really long speech and I was like dude you're gonna make me cry in my rental car like let me I gotta go why am I crying in this rental car they were so nice like everybody was so nice at the wedding like i ordered a an off-menu drink that was from a different bar on the grounds and he was like yeah we can make that for you and i was like okay cool and then from the second i ordered that i couldn't get through one like the second i sat down my the glass after my last sip they were just putting another one in front of me and i was was like, dude, these are very strong. I can't drink too many of these.
Starting point is 00:21:46 And I didn't. I held it together. So my customer service story of the weekend, Alyssa and I went and had dinner at Splashes, the place y'all had the first night. Yeah. So it's sick. It's like three layers, and the bottom level is basically on the beach.
Starting point is 00:22:02 And when high tide comes in, it's like right up under you almost it's kind of scary and uh very intimate you can hear like you can almost hear other conversations the table behind us was this couple older guy and like a younger girl probably in her 30s and he was probably in his 50s and she like started berating the waiter and he was our waiter and i was just like and i could hear all this. And I was, like, getting so mad. And, like, I almost, and she was, like, it was because he didn't know what, he couldn't tell her, like, what wines were at the other bar. And there was this one particular wine she was looking for.
Starting point is 00:22:35 And, like, the guy was, he was borderline, he was a little bit socially not there. He was a little socially awkward, but he was a good waiter. And then the manager came out and was watching it all. And I was like, okay, I got to fucking say something. So I got up to go to the bathroom, and I found the manager and pulled him. So I was like, hey, I just want to let you know, this guy's our waiter. He's been our waiter the whole time. And I heard all that, and he's not in the wrong on this.
Starting point is 00:23:02 This woman is just insane. And he's like, oh, thank you for saying that. He's like, I've had other tables tell me the same thing. Yeah. And I was almost at the point of confrontation. Yeah. And then she got in such a fit, she turned music on her cell phone and just started playing it from her phone.
Starting point is 00:23:18 What? What? Yeah. What a psycho. I mean, Laguna Beach is just dripping in money. They were Euro. Those people, like, it's crazy how, dripping in money. They were Euro. Those people, like, it's crazy how, like, entitled people are out there. Yeah, it was a little bit shocking.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Yeah, it's weird. I mean, we had Big Ben staying at the hotel the entire time. He was there the day we got there, and then he left to go back to Pittsburgh. So did he actually go back to throw? He came back. Oh, that's like a four-hour flight. Yeah. I think my end-of-day conclusion about him is I think he owns a place on the premises.
Starting point is 00:23:53 That's a nice place to own. Yeah. I think it's a timeshare. It is a timeshare. They have timeshares there. And I think he has one because he was there the entire time. I was in the spa with him. He was in the pool all yesterday playing with his kids,
Starting point is 00:24:09 and I was just sitting there like, damn, that's Big Ben. How did he look? Dude can't walk very fast. He walks like an old man. It's hard to watch. How old is he? I don't know. He's got to be 36, 37. I want to say. He's, he's, how old is he? I don't know. He's gotta be 36,
Starting point is 00:24:25 37. I want to say. He's 04 draft? 16 years? Yeah. How do you know that? He's 37. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Yeah, he, I mean, but like he, he is so big and stout. You hit him with a go Red Hawks? No,
Starting point is 00:24:40 I, dude, I wanted to, but like the time when I was going to do it, he was with his kids and only playing with his kids, and he was playing football in the shallow end with them and just having fun. You don't want to be Dan with portals? He's literally coming here.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Yeah, he's literally coming here only to max and relax. I'm not going to bug him at all. I should have done it in the spa, but the spa is so relaxed that i was like no this is even worse than the pool i should have just had like a waiter bring a note over um so speaking of not wanting to approach somebody i think i told you guys this maybe not brett uh in the airport chick-fil-a lax i'm in line i turn around and two people behind me people are gonna be so bummed it was Beto see are you fucking kidding me no Beto was in line did I not tell you this no or if you did
Starting point is 00:25:32 I didn't see the text okay see the text because he said it okay Beto so Beto or he's too big I see this tall guy make eye contact and I just kind of looked down I was like wait a minute he's like 6'3 he's a big tall dude l lanky. It's weird that he always stands on tables. I was like, dude, you're tall enough. He's in line with his kid, his son, who's wearing a purple Lakers Kobe hat. So I'm just like, holy shit. This is prime time content.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Yes. Ended up not saying anything and not getting a picture, and it was mainly because he was with his kid. I was like, you know what? Kids change everything. Other people were, and I watched him. Honestly, he seems like a really great guy. He seems nice.
Starting point is 00:26:14 People would go to him, and he was very down to talk, and it didn't seem like bullshit. Yeah. And, yeah, I watched him. For those wondering, he did not order Chick-fil-A. He got that for his son, sat down at a table, two from Alyssa and I, and then went to Einstein Brothers Bagels and got that. Really?
Starting point is 00:26:31 That was his move. Wow. Hey, Will, did you see that I broke my toe the night of your wedding? Yeah, what did you do? I got back to my bed and breakfast room. Great spot, by the way. Good choice, Dave. And I was just, you know, I had, it was the wine that the waiter wouldn't stop pouring,
Starting point is 00:26:48 and I just banged it against the side of the bed. Why does everyone break something at a Jung wedding? And the next day it was bruised, and now it's swelling, and the pain is somehow still getting worse. Oh, man. It's just weird. I'm sorry. You know what?
Starting point is 00:27:01 It's on me. I drink too much. Ouch. It happens. Stubbing a toe is... And I was so drunk that it didn't really register to me at the time how serious it was, but I felt it the next day. Well, Sally and I both scraped our noses before the wedding.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Bottom of the pool? How? Diving in the pool? I don't know what she did. I have no clue how she did it. Everyone thought I did mine like drunkenly. Like, nope.
Starting point is 00:27:26 I was just standing in our bathroom and I, we, there's a lot of doors in that bathroom. Uh, and I turned around and there was a door cracked open and I just smoked my face. It didn't hurt at all, but it just started gushing blood.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Oh, great. Good time for this to happen. Oh, yep. And so I had to, I don't know how noticeable it was, but I had a giant like thing.
Starting point is 00:27:43 It's kind of gone now. Uh, now that you pointed out, I can see it. I went, I went in the how noticeable it was, but I had a giant thing. It's kind of gone now. Now that you point it out, I can see it. I didn't notice it. I went in the steam room the day after the wedding, and I got real steamy in there. That's a solid steam room. Hella eucalyptus, just... And then I took a cold towel after,
Starting point is 00:28:00 and I wiped my face off with it, and it must have opened up the wound, and so I was just pouring blood all over my face. Did you cold plunge? Yes. You actually did it? Dude, I cold every day, at least three times. Ooh, how cold was it? Cold, really cold. Uh, the guys, I, the morning of the wedding, all I want to do is just go relax at the spa for a little bit because it's free and like, Oh, I have waters in there. They got some like no shit. Yeah. So you can just go walk in and, uh, all the guys that i was staying with they were like all right we're gonna have a cold plunge contest i went first i was in there for like 15 seconds they all went for like
Starting point is 00:28:33 three minutes and i was like okay i'm not gonna be able to hang with you guys like this is too hard damn it was so fucking cold though yeah i'll just say can you can you take me through your sunday chronologically like going up to the wedding yeah went to the spa for a really long time what time do you wake up on your wedding day uh i woke up pretty early i couldn't sleep there because i was like just my emotions were all over the place and you don't you don't sleep with your soon-to-be wife we did wedding right neither of us wanted to give up the suite so we were like uh we're gonna do this together uh okay and so i woke up uh went to the spa with some dudes from, I guess they were all from around Texas.
Starting point is 00:29:11 And then went and had lunch at a poolside bar, had a swordfish sandwich. After that, I just kind of mulled around the bar, just kind of, not the bar, the pool, just mingling and hanging out. And then it was really weird. Not the bar, the pool just mingling and hanging out. And then it was really weird. I told people to bring over their clothes if they were going to hang out all day so that they could just get ready in my room because I just wanted a couple people there to cool my nerves. Sure.
Starting point is 00:29:34 And no one brought anything over, so they all left to go back to their places and get ready before. And I was like, please come over before. I can't be alone. Well, I was alone for an hour. Oh, no. I was just pacing around my, like my hotel room. I couldn't get, uh, I couldn't get one of my cufflinks in. And I was like, I fucking need
Starting point is 00:29:51 someone here. The photographer hits me up and he was like, Hey, uh, Sally's getting her hair done. So I've got a few minutes. I'm going to come down and take some photos of you. He comes down. I'm in shambles. I'm like, dude, you got to help me put my shit together right now. And he was like, I don't have time to do that. He's like, I got to go right back up. And so finally I was like, okay, well I have to do something productive. And so I set up an entire bar spread for everybody in our room. And I had like a cooler of beers, uh, buckets of champagne and stuff. And people walked in there like, damn, the hotel set you up nice. I was like, no, I've just been killing time. I was like, have a cup of beer. Like my, I think my parents were just like, wow, they're really doing it.
Starting point is 00:30:26 And I was like, no, like, I had to clean the room myself and do all this. We didn't ask anyone to help us out, and they would have never known. But, yeah. And then finally, like, my room was actually full of people. Prior to the ceremony? Yeah. You just walked to the ceremony, I assume. Yeah, I was right there.
Starting point is 00:30:42 And so then, like, I was kind of freaking out. People were trying to put my bow tie on me because I couldn't get it. And then finally I just let up and walked over, and I was freaking out. And luckily one of my buddies was running the music from – Stu. Yes, shouts to Stu. And so he was running the music for us, and luckily he was up there standing with me because I was like, all right, take my mind off stuff.
Starting point is 00:31:03 I can't do this right now. I'm freaking out so uh it was it was a very tense day with the surprise with the like everything going on at this point dylan's still not there right no i you were there i got there at like 2 30 i said what up to you before the wedding though yeah before the actual ceremony it was like 2 30 oh yeah because yeah you showed up then and then i i hung out with you a bit before like the actual ceremony yeah i was there for like 20 minutes this wasn't a bad thing but there was no like wedding planner there and so people didn't really know when to sit down or like what to do oh they didn't have like a traffic control type of yeah there was no traffic control but that actually was kind of nice because i kind of liked that people were just hanging out nice yeah i thought it like it happened naturally yeah
Starting point is 00:31:44 it was kind of nice. At one point, I was like, okay, Sally's going to be here soon. If she sees a bunch of people not sitting down, she's going to lose her shit. Well, we walked in, and somebody immediately was like, oh, her dress isn't – she's not even in her dress. They're steaming her dress. And we were up at the bar. I'm like, oh, that buys us some time.
Starting point is 00:32:01 So we had some drinks, and then we went down, and somebody was like, yeah, she's still not – she didn't have her dress on. Like, somebody was getting real-time updates. Yeah. But it wasn't that much of a delay. It felt like maybe five or ten minutes. We had to look up a video because no one – we just couldn't get my damn tie. We finally looked up a video, and then once I got my tie done, everyone thought I was kind of nervous and quiet. But it's because I was standing there.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Like, when someone's tying your tie, you can't like be conversational. Like, yeah. Like you're almost kissing them. You're so close. Then the second we got it done, I just like walked away from the bathroom and went like, let's go like pumped up. And they were like, Oh, his demeanor just changed real quick. And I think they were happy to see me like that. Cause I think they thought I was really nervous, but dude, putting on a tux is nerve wr-wracking totally like you have a lot of different things you have to do and if you can't get something going like it's you're sweating totally dude how good is my tux though it was baller a lot of people like the shoe wear a lot of comments on the no sock plus the sled look yeah I was never gonna wear socks to a wedding in Laguna Beach hell no like you couldn't do that
Starting point is 00:33:02 yeah I was very I didn't I didn't try on anything until the day before we left the wedding i was like should i try everything on at once and sally's like yeah we should probably do that put it all on and i was like oh very happy with how this panned out oh yeah shouts to ace taylor for making me look good so ceremony presumably goes really well look beautiful i'll leave the ceremony for you and sally after the ceremony let's go after the ceremony we had to go take pictures. Sure. Cocktail hour. Yep. And so it was kind of like killing me. I was like, man, this is so awesome over there. I just want to go hang out with everybody. But we knocked out all the photos. And then after that, it was just a big cocktail hour for a little bit. The spread
Starting point is 00:33:38 of the cocktail, I didn't eat very much at the cocktail hour, but like I did go over at one point because I had five free seconds. Shark board? Yeah, I just grabbed every piece of meat on there and just started pounding it. Hell yeah. There was some fried greatness on that thing. I don't know what the plantains or whatever they were. A lot of ceviche. Three different ceviches.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Really good. When I saw we had three different ceviches, I was like, oh, we're doing it. Just a lot of ceviche. We're just bawling right now. Any past hors d'oeuvres or was it all just the- I don't know. There were a lot of martinis getting passed around, that's for sure. Yeah, the hors d'oeuvres or was it all just the i don't know there are a lot of martinis getting passed around that's for sure yeah the hors d'oeuvres are the olives and the martini i think i had five martinis before dinner well i asked sally what they were
Starting point is 00:34:12 serving and she was like well everyone can order their own cocktails at dinner but like the past cocktails are margaritas and dirty martinis and i was like oh that's dangerous oh yeah tight but it was great it was wouldn't have traded that for anything but like it was weird the thing that was the weirdest about the ceremony and then going into the night was that, like, all the nerves and weirdness that you feel going up to it, the second it was all done and we walked down the aisle and we were done, it all went away. And I was just really happy after that. It was weird how, like, washed away it felt. It was just, like, so done. Hell, yeah. But it was great.
Starting point is 00:34:43 And then, yeah, we ended up going up to the hotel lobby bar for drinks after. But I was in bed early. I was in bed at like 1130. Really? Yep. Yep. So who is there? Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:52 So after the cocktail hour, after dinner, is there a reception? Like you got, you got Vody to play from Houston. Yeah, of course. Yeah. Vody had to be there. No, we just kind of, it was just kind of like a big dinner. And then speeches happened during the dinner. It was just kind of a big cocktail dinner party.
Starting point is 00:35:10 That's tight. And then we couldn't be in that space for a long time because it is a pretty high-end restaurant. So I don't think they wanted like a bunch of people just like mulling around there all night getting hammered. Yeah. So we went to the lobby bar where they had a piano player. Oh, tight. He was good. He does.
Starting point is 00:35:23 He played shout on piano. No, he should have. He did some Seeger. He did some Walking in Memphis. He did some, he did a bunch. He was good. But that's when I started getting the dead eyes. And Sally, I didn't, it was like a very brief,
Starting point is 00:35:36 but Sally was like, she already wanted to go to bed because people were kind of dying and fading. Got it. And so we were like, you know what? Let's call it. Better too early than too late. There you go. I had to get to sleep i'd wake up like 4 15 i know you walked over and i was like shit you like dylan had a quick turnaround i didn't realize how quick you had to leave but then i was like i guess it makes sense it was nice getting getting back kind of
Starting point is 00:35:56 early but man they waking up at 4 15 after pounding martinis all night was not fun oh so all that sounds incredible now i wanted to finish up with the question you're not necessarily a stand mute cancel of your wedding but like mv mvps but did you did you catch any anybody doing anything significant uh the biggest i asked i asked sally on the way to the airport yesterday who the mvp was and we decided it was her brother who did the ceremony oh okay shouts to her brother who did the ceremony. Oh, okay. Shouts to Harry. He crushed the ceremony. He did. He did a very good job there.
Starting point is 00:36:29 He was very supportive all weekend. He killed it. Oh, man. Like if you had to, like from each friend group, like a Michigan guy, a Texas guy. Oh, man. Well, that's going to be awkward. Well, I mean. Texas guy comes down to two people. Texas guy. Well, no. Oh, no. There are a ton of Texas guy. Oh, man. Well, that's going to be awkward. Well, I mean, Texas guy comes down to two people.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Texas guy. Well, no. Oh, no. There are a ton of Texas people. Oh, you can give it to Drew, actually, because he played Pelican Hill in another course. Yeah. No, there are a lot of Texas guys there.
Starting point is 00:36:52 He somehow managed to play golf twice. Harry's the Texas guy that gets MVP. That makes sense. The other MVP from Michigan would be Stu, who ran the music. That was a big, stressful thing. I thought Sally had something else planned for me, because before we walked down the aisle after doing our kiss and everything, I saw her looking behind me
Starting point is 00:37:09 kind of signaling for someone to do something. I thought somebody was going to surprise me or something. I clicked another one. You thought it was Fulton Oil and Gas? I thought it was going to be Fulton Oil and Gas. It turned out she was just telling my friend Stu, you better be ready to play this fucking song. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Moment, not on Sunday, that most sticks out. Just when everyone, the original surprise, just because I was, like, shocked. Everyone thought I was going to cry, but I have to be, like, pretty drunk to cry. Okay. Or just, like, a wreck about something. So I didn't cry immediately, but I cried later. Like, later that night. Best drink slash food dish of the weekend.
Starting point is 00:37:56 My lunch combo of a swordfish sandwich and a Mai Tai was the best food drink combo of the weekend. I like that. I had that numerous days for lunch, and it was just the best. They comped my lunch yesterday as our last day there, and I was very happy because I was tired of paying for that shit. And then last question from me, most eye-turning fit other than you or Sally of the weekend? Ooh. Ooh. Did anybody just go off? Teddy went off.
Starting point is 00:38:14 What did Teddy do? Khaki suit, no tie, pants rolled up. He's pretty hot at these beach weddings. Beard looking good. Yeah. Flow, too. Flow, too. I mean, I got to say, man. He killed it. He was the first person I saw when I walked up and got surprised. That's when I at these beach weddings. Beard looking good. Yeah. Flow, too. Flow, too. I mean, I got to say, man.
Starting point is 00:38:25 He killed it. He was the first person I saw when I walked up and got surprised. That's when I knew it was on. I was walking up to the bar, and I saw Teddy between these two bushes, and I was like, oh, shit, it's about to go down. And then there was another girl there. Her name's Lauren. She was crushing some pants.
Starting point is 00:38:42 They were black pants with a bunch of tassels and stuff on them. They were party pants. Hell, yeah tassels and stuff on them. They were party pants. Hell yeah. So Teddy got a fit off. I thought Dylan and Dave looked pretty good too. Everyone looked good. I loved Sally's dress.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Sally thought I didn't like her dress or something and I was like, Sally, I'm so over emotionally stimulated. 100%. I also kissed her before the ceremony.
Starting point is 00:39:01 That allowed? She walked up and I gave her a kiss and I was like, I probably shouldn't have done that. I don't know. I was so pumped up. Do what you want pumped do what you want i don't know keep your shoes on this time yeah i kept the shoes i had to those things were slick should we get out of here yeah that was fun man again if you want to hear sally's perspective i'm gonna have her on sunday scares uh we're recording either tomorrow or the next day
Starting point is 00:39:24 so you can uh send in some questions if you have any for her we're probably not going to have her on Sunday Scaries. We're recording either tomorrow or the next day. So you can send in some questions if you have any for her. We're probably not going to talk about the wild parts of the weekend as much as just the logistics that she went through and all the mindset of her and switching the wedding date, stuff like that. So, yeah. Tune into the Patreon. We talk a little bit about it.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Also, I mean, all the rampant drug use that was going on. Oh, so much drug use, you right dylan fun times dylan i promise for for my wedding whenever that may be you're 30 i'm going to 28 yeah 28 to 30 ish i'm going to consult you on your schedule so you can just have a week man please someone give me a yeah i need a time frame that works for me you're going to be very much in the planning. I want to be a part of the whole. Yeah. When Sally and I renew our vows in 25 years, I promise that we will give you a better heads up. I've missed so much fun with these fucking things.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Yep. You are, you didn't even go to Dave's. You were on the same. I didn't go to Dave's. You were two rooms over. No. Unbelievable. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:40:21 It's amazing this podcast exists. I'm tired of going on a vacation It's just a quick turnaround, man. It's not working for me anymore. I'll tell you what. You are involved in the planning, whatever mine may be. Thanks, Brett. I got you.
Starting point is 00:40:33 That's beautiful. Let's get out of here. Let's get out of here, guys. Bye. Congrats for willing to tell me. Outro Music you
