Starting point is 00:00:00 Psyche, number one, most of the experts that people have on tell. I watch these experts, and it's clown hour. Okay, these are people that have... I'm confused. She's confused. You're confused? I don't know why that's confusing to you. And you're asking me, why didn't we do that in five other places at the same time?
Starting point is 00:00:16 I mean, that's absurd. You talked about not being the legitimate president. So you wanted us to land in five other military bases? No, I'm asking why you chose. Clinton Jaws, when I know Marco Rubio's going to do the spread in the morning, the morning news spread. He goes everywhere. I wake up early, I watch it, and I bring it to you.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Can I just say something? Don't you guys feel better that Trump is running the world? When Biden was the leader, I googled safest place on the planet. New Zealand came up. I almost moved my entire family to New Zealand. I no longer feel that way. He catches a bad guy. The left has a meltdown over it.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Marco Rubio on Meet the Press and Face the Nation. in these broads, well, they ask stupid questions again. Let's start with Kirsten. Remember Kirsten on election night? The Harris campaign tonight touting the fact that they have Paul Rudd, for example, out trying to energize college voters in Pennsylvania, Jennifer Garner as well. What the hell is that? Keep it.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Stay in line, Jennifer. Exactly. Voters in a four-hour line at you. Exactly. Do you think the country is ready for a black woman president? Not a dumb one. She said yes. Everyone's speechless here.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I guess we're really at the 1.40 in the morning. Always speechless. Ignorance has rendered them speechless. Paul Rudd. And I want to like Paul Rudd. How can you be so dumb? Okay, Marco. Joining me now is Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Secretary Rubio, welcome back to meet the press.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Thank you. Thank you so much for being here. I want to start with this big picture question. Where's my pen? Is the United States now at war with Venezuela? There's not a war. I mean, we are at war against drug trafficking organizations. It's not a war against Venezuela. Ask another stupid question. How soon will elections be held within 30 days, Mr. Secretary?
Starting point is 00:02:14 Tell me now. Right now. Elections? Well, look, this is a country that's been governed by this regime now for 14 or 15 years. The elections should have happened a long time ago. The elections did happen. They lost them and they didn't count the votes or they refused to count the votes and everyone knows it. So all of that, I think, it's premature. at this point. They will continue to face pressure from the United States. We will continue to target drug boats if they try to run towards the United States. We will continue to seize the boats that are sanctioned with court orders. Okay, significant there. You say you will continue to seize boats when necessary. How many U.S. forces are on the ground right now in Venezuela?
Starting point is 00:02:55 Are there any? We don't have U.S. forces on the ground in Venezuela. No, we don't have U.S. forces on the ground. Everyone knows. They were on the ground for about two hours. when they went to capture Maduro. And I think what the president is saying is very simple. And that is, as President of the United States, he is not going to go around telling people what he's not going to do. He's not going to go around saying, I won't do this, I won't do that. Yes, I care about this issue, but I'll only go so far.
Starting point is 00:03:16 He retains all this optionality. In the particular case you're citing, this was, in essence, at its core, a law enforcement function. The Department of Justice, dating back in the Biden administration, that had a $25 million reward for his capture. So we have a reward for his capture, but we're not going to enforce it. That's the difference between President Trump and everybody else.
Starting point is 00:03:36 All these, it's easy to make a wanted poster and say $50 million for the capture of Maduro, but no one takes that seriously because you're not going to do with anything about it. President Trump did something about it. Let me ask you. He did something about it. We went in, we grabbed him. He was arrested, and he's now in New York. No Americans were killed.
Starting point is 00:03:51 No equipment was lost. It had to be done. And it's been done. And I assure you, the people left behind in Venezuela now that are in charge of the police and everything else, I assure you, they're going to probably be a lot. more compliant than Maduro was as a result of this. You know, we've seen how our adversaries all over the world are exploiting and extracting resources from Africa, from every other country. They're not going to do it in the Western Hemisphere. They are not. That is not going to happen
Starting point is 00:04:16 under President Trump. Read our national security strategy. He is serious about it. What we're not going to allow is for the oil industry in Venezuela to be controlled by adversaries of the United States. You have to understand, why does China need their oil? Why does Russia need their oil. Why does Iran need their oil? They're not even in this continent. This is the Western Hemisphere. This is where we live. And we're not going to allow the Western Hemisphere to be a base of operation. He could be the next president. Competitors and rivals of the United States. Have specific oil companies? We also want to see that oil and the proceeds from it. Hold on. We want to see the oil proceeds of that country benefit the people of Venezuela.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Why have eight million people left Venezuela? Eight million, the single largest mass migration, probably in modern history, left Venezuela's in 2014, because all the wealth of that country was to the benefit of Maduro and his cronies in the regime, but not to the benefit of people of Venezuela. You know how destabilizing eight million migrants? Tell me. Is the number one fear that Brazil has, that Colombia has, that all these countries in the region have
Starting point is 00:05:12 about what's happening in Venezuela and our involvement, is they're afraid of another mass migration event? Let's talk big picture here. U.S. regime change. Historically speaking, has not gone very well for the United States. In Iraq, in Libya, to name a few examples. Can you assure Americans, the people of the United States, that this time will be different? Well, here's what's happened.
Starting point is 00:05:40 We've got this phobia built up and this sort of thing that's like, number one, most of the experts that people have on. I watch these experts, and it's clown hour. Okay, these are people that have focused their entire career on the Middle East or some other part of the war because that's where all the action was. They, very few of them know anything about Venezuela, the Western Hemisphere. Venezuela looks nothing like Libya. It looks nothing like Iraq. It looks nothing like Afghanistan. It looks nothing like the Middle East other than the Iranian agents that are running through their plotting against America.
Starting point is 00:06:07 These are Western countries with long traditions among their, out of people to people and cultural level and ties to the United States. So there's nothing like that. So I think people need to stop ascribing the apples and oranges here. The apples of the Middle East of the oranges of the western hemisphere. Number two, this is about the national interest of the United States. And what I'm confident of is we are in a safer and better place because we're taking it seriously. The alternative would have been to leave Maduro there as an indicted the drug trafficker, illegitimate president, running the country, open invitation for all of our adversaries to do whatever
Starting point is 00:06:38 they want against the United States from Venezuela. That was not going to continue. But will you seek congressional approval for any further action in Venezuela or the region? How about notifications? Well, we will seek congressional approval for actions that require congressional approval. But otherwise, they will get congressional notification. And this is not an operation that required congressional approval. In fact, this is an operation akin to what virtually every single president for the last 40 years has conducted.
Starting point is 00:07:08 The difference is that when it's Donald Trump, you know, all these Democrats go bonkers. Now the main event, Margaret Brennan-N-N-N-N-N-N- Remember when she cried on election night? We are going to be digesting this as a planet when we wake up tomorrow morning to figure out what's next. A third of the world has had a female leader. I think we have to all take time to digest this. We're doing it in the moment, but I don't think we are all quite grasping the gravity of sending Donald Trump back to Washington with the word you use, Nora, a mandate. It's not just the man.
Starting point is 00:07:42 It is a mandate. Let's do it. I mean, I'm curious why the Trump administration decided to leave it intact and only arrest Nicholas Maduro and his wife. The person who controls the police, the chief thug, D.S. DiCabello, he's the interior minister. He's been indicted by the United States. He was in that indictment, the administration released. He's a narco-terrorist. There's a $25 million price on his head. He's still in place. The defense minister who's deep ties to Russia, $15 million price on his head. He is still in place.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I'm confused. Are they still wanted by the United States? Why didn't you arrest them if you are? taking out the narco-terrorist regime. You're confused? I don't know why that's confusing to you. They're still in power. It's very simple. We're not going to go in and wrap up. You're going to, you're going to go in and suck up five people.
Starting point is 00:08:36 They're already complaining about this one operation. Imagine the howls we would have from everybody else if we actually had to go and stay there four days to capture four other people. We got the top priority. The number one person on the list was the guy who claimed to be the president of the country that he was not. And he was arrested, along with his wife, who was also indicted. And that was a pretty sophisticated and, frankly, complicated operation. It was.
Starting point is 00:08:58 It is not easy to land helicopters in the middle of the largest military base in the country. The guy lived on a military base. Land within three minutes, kicked down his door, grab him, put him in handcuffs, read him his rights, put him in a helicopter, and leave the country without losing any American or any American assets. That's not an easy mission. And you're asking me, why didn't we do that in five other places at the same time? I mean, that's absurd. I do think this is one of the most, you know, daring,
Starting point is 00:09:25 you know, complicated, sophisticated missions this country has carried out in a very long time. Tremendous credit to the U.S. military personnel who did it. It was unbelievable. And tremendous success. And today, an indicted drug trafficker who was not the legitimate president of Venezuela, who we don't recognize, the Biden administration didn't recognize, 60-something countries don't recognize, the European Union doesn't recognize. and many countries in Latin America don't recognize.
Starting point is 00:09:51 He was a convicted. He was an indicted drug trafficker. He was arrested. Right. The others who are also indicted are still. The others who are also indicted are still in place. So that's the point of my questioning there. But you talked about not being the legitimate president.
Starting point is 00:10:08 So you wanted us to land in five other military bases? No, I'm asking why you chose that this was the limit of the military operation. But to your point that you just made that, that Maduro was not the legitimate president. He was the guy was claiming to be the president. Right. Well, the opposition. He was the top target.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Okay. But our goals remain the same. The difference is that the person who was in charge, even though not legitimately, in the past, was someone you could not work with. We just could not work with him. He is not a person that had ever kept any of the deals he made. Broke every deal he ever made, made a fool out of the Biden administration on the deal they made with him. And we offered him on multiple occasions, an operative. to remove himself from the scene in a positive way.
Starting point is 00:10:50 He chose not to do so. But his number two is now running the country. His number two is someone you can work with and you say, is that what you're implying here? And did she tell you that she will transition to democracy and the woman who won the election along with her partner there, Maria Karina Machado? We are going to make, we are going to make our assessments of people. You're asking me to make an assessment. We're going to make an assessment on the basis of what they do. Good answer.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Not what they say publicly in the interim, not what, you know, some, what they've done in the past in many cases, but what they do moving forward. I both saw this guy. So we're going to find out. We're going to judge everything by what they do. And we're going to see what they do. Okay, because yesterday, President Trump said Maria Karina Machado doesn't have the support or respect within the country. And by your own admission, she walloped Nicholas Maduro in the last election.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So it does sound like a decision was made. She wasn't on the ballot in the last election. No, but her party was. Edmundo was. Yes. Correcto Lundo. It was an illegitimate election. And that's why he's not a legitimate president.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Right. But is there an agreement to transition to democracy? It sounds like there's not. I think what the president pointed out is the obvious. Well, I think with the point, but there's have to be a little realism here, okay? A transition to the, they've had this regime, they've had this system of Chavismo in place for 15 or 16 years. And everyone's asking why 24 hours after Nicholas Maduro was arrested, there isn't an election scheduled for tomorrow? No, no, I'm asking what you talk about with her.
Starting point is 00:12:17 These things take time. There's a process. Right. And you are... I'm not going to have... I'm not going to publicly get into details about any of those things other than to tell you that our expectations remain the same. And we are going to judge whoever we're interacting with moving forward
Starting point is 00:12:30 by whether or not those conditions are met. It's very simple, okay? In the 21st century under the Trump administration, we are not going to have a country like Venezuela, in our own hemisphere, in the sphere of control and the crossroads for Hezbollah, for Iran, and for every other malign influence in the world. That's just not going to exist. legs. Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, would love to keep talking to you, but I'm told you are out of
Starting point is 00:12:53 time. I have to leave it there. Thank you. Love it. I love watching the guy. He's on it. I'm not even going to say it. I might make another video. Thanks for watching. Bye, bye.
