Hey guys, Clint here again. Former cop talking about cop stuff. That's what I do now.
I want you to see this video. Just came out. Just came out the other day. It happened July 26th, 2020 in Reno.
Yes, Reno. Have you ever watched the movie, Reno 9-1-1?
If they ever do another movie, they could literally take a clip from what I'm going to show you and put it in the movie.
It is a shit show.
shit show. Kind of funny. Nobody dies. Okay, nobody dies. That's good news. It's a complete shit show.
Sometimes shit shows happen when you're a police officer. Yeah. I wasn't going to say this,
but maybe I will. When I worked in Mission, we had a shit show night. We had three constables.
And I hate using that word. I shouldn't use that word because a guy, one of my bosses,
used that word, and to this day I don't like them because of it.
We're in mission.
There's three constables taking calls, and me, the corporal, I'm the watch commander.
And it was, we had about 50 calls that night, and it was a complete shit show.
Everything went wrong.
But I was proud of my guys, because even though pieces were falling apart everywhere,
at the end of the night, we were able to put those pieces back together,
and we felt pretty good about ourselves.
We felt pretty proud of ourselves.
The next shift, I start my next shift, and the staff sergeant goes past my desk and goes, uh...
Well, I heard it was a real shit show last night.
And I'm like, what the... what?
I said...
No? No, it wasn't. We actually did pretty good.
We did a really good job.
I thought it was going to get a reward for it, actually.
Well, that's not what I heard. I heard it was a real shit show.
fuck off
so I hate using that word
shit show
policing
it happens
you have a rough night
what are you supposed to do with three constables
you're short as a watch
and nobody's coming in for overtime
what are you supposed to do you call all the other neighboring detachments
and they can't come in to help
you got to make it work and we made it work
so whenever I hear the
the word shit show
I think of that former boss, Dave was his name, Dave.
And I think, shit show, asshole.
That's what I think.
When I hear the word shit show.
I wasn't going to tell the story.
Probably shouldn't have.
But I'm just telling the truth.
So crap?
No, I'm not going to use that.
I'm not going to say crap show.
Bit of a shit show in Reno.
Cop.
tasers other cop, that cop shoots suspect by accident, and then cop tasers himself.
Watch the video. We're going to come down and break it down. Break it down. Watch this.
295 Reno, 1060, come out to 6950-South Virginia Street to cover county on a traffic stop.
They have their units going code 3 to cover if they're not being clear if they want Reno code 3 to cover or not.
And Sam 295, they're not requesting that you expedite. Nor are 140 copy?
And Sam 2 and 5 for information were landline with a reporting party at the Caymorton Lodge advising that the officer is in trouble.
Hey, sir, you pass foot.
Can you go down your knees, please?
No.
Let's talk about this. Let's figure this out.
I'm going to run. I'm sorry.
No.
Talk about this.
Here's my things. Here's my things. Here's my things. Here's my things.
Here's my things.
Lay down.
What's your birthday?
Can you have some water, please.
some water please.
Oopsie, Daisy.
This reminds me so much of mission detachment.
It does for so many reasons.
But let's break it down, okay?
God, you just know that cop feels like shit, right?
Did you see what happened, though?
I want to show you what happened.
The cop holding the taser,
I don't know how he missed.
He had, if you look, he had the person.
He had the perfect sight picture.
He had the perfect mass of the fella's back.
It couldn't have got any bigger.
And that's what you want with the taser, right?
So the cop shoots his taser.
And when you shoot a taser, there's two prongs that come out of that cartridge.
Two prongs.
One goes straight.
The other one goes in an angle.
The farther away you are, the bigger the spread.
One goes basically like a 45-degree angle.
The top one goes into bad guy.
The bottom one goes into good guy's knee.
Good guy then shoots his gun because of the reaction of the taser prong going into his knee.
And then the fella, the cop that's holding the taser, tasers his fingers.
I've seen this happen so many times.
It's kind of funny when you see a cop accidentally.
But while the taser's still going,
he goes to rip the cartridge off.
And if you do that, tasers, they last five seconds.
It's a five second cycle.
You hit the button.
It goes off for five seconds.
If you touch that cartridge, you're going to tase yourself.
That's exactly what he did.
You can see him holding a taser.
It's going off.
He realizes he misses and he has to reload his taser cartridge.
He goes to grab the taser cartridge while it's still tasing and goes like that with his hand.
Then you can't really see it.
really hard to see. He shuts off the taser, which is what you're supposed to do. Then you
rip that old cartridge off that didn't work. You grab the new cartridge and you reload. Almost,
well, I have never done it. I've never done it. But when I went to my taser course, so many police
officers were doing that, tasing the shit out of their fingers. Not a big deal. Just something I wanted
to share with you.
So why did police officer shoot bad guy in the shoulder?
His gun wasn't pointed towards bad guy.
The fella that shot, you could see his gun is in the low ready position.
It's pointed towards the ground, okay?
He's not ready to shoot or anything like that.
It's pointed to the ground.
So how did bad guy get shot in the shoulder?
Bullet ricochets off the pavement into bad guy's shoulder.
I'm guessing.
I think it's a pretty good guess.
But how dangerous is that?
And how lucky are they that that bullet didn't ricochet and go into bad guy's head?
Or the police officers.
That bullet could have went into a police officer.
Dangerous.
You know that cop feels terrible about it.
But why did his gun go off?
What obvious?
Why would his gun go off?
His gun went off because he had his finger on the trigger.
He made the most base.
basic mistake. Is a basic mistake? One of the silliest mistakes that you can make. He had his
finger on the trigger. Lad is a no-no. Do not have your finger on the trigger. No reason to have your
finger on the trigger. He wasn't ready to shoot. That's the only time you're going to put your
finger on the trigger if you're prepared to shoot. He has a finger on the trigger. He gets a
taser prong into his knee and there's an accidental discharge. None of this would have happened if he didn't
have his finger on the trigger.
Firearms training with the RCMP,
I would say just about every single police force,
first thing they teach you, do not have your finger on the trigger
until you're prepared to shoot.
And there's no reason to even be prepared to shoot in this instance.
You cannot have your finger on the trigger unless you're prepared to shoot.
If you have the finger on your trigger and you stumble, fall,
what's going to happen? Or a taser prong goes in your knee? Like that happens every day, but
you're going to shoot. You're going to shoot your gun. And he knows that. The cop knows that. He made a
mistake. Everybody lived. Thank goodness. But when you learn firearms how to shoot a handgun,
it's always finger on the slide. Your finger is always extended. Okay? Finger on.
on the slide every time. When you're ready to shoot, finger goes from the slide to the trigger.
Why do you learn that way? For that exact reason. For that exact reason, what happened there.
Cop gets rushed to the hospital so they could take the taser prong out of his knee? I don't know.
That part I don't get. All you need is a pair of pliers and a fast pull. I've seen it. I've seen it done.
dozens of times. That's all. I don't know why you need to go to the hospital to get a doctor to do that.
I could have did that. Anybody of those, any other police officer could have just went,
pulled it out. Hospital? Really?
So the cop fired his gun by accident, and there's two reasons why he, one of two reasons is why he did it.
He felt a fish hook go into his knee, and by reaction, he shoots.
It also could have been the sound of what the taser makes.
It's a pop, pop.
It's happened before.
Some police are not used to that pop of the taser,
and when they hear it, they think it's gunfire, and what do they do?
They shoot.
I remember being in mission.
We went to a call, crazy guy.
Went to crazy guy's house.
The mom called.
Crazy guy, he still lived with his mom.
He was about 40 years old.
We go there.
A bunch of cops go there.
I'm taser trained.
We go to the house.
We get mom.
Yeah, she's still in the house.
She's deathly afraid, but she's still kicking around the house.
We get mom out of the house.
And it's me and this female police officer who is top-notch, by the way.
She's a great member.
She's still a member.
And I tell her, okay, I'm going to pull out the taser.
You're going to be my lethal overwatch.
Okay?
You're going to pull out your gun.
So we go inside.
There's a bad guy.
He's in the kitchen.
He's holding a knife.
And an apple.
He's eating a knife.
apple. Of course, we're yelling. Put down the knife. Put down the knife really loudly. It's tense.
I got my taser out. My partner's right beside me. She's got her gun out. Bad guy has three jackets
on. He knows what's coming. He's been tased before. And I remember thinking, I don't even know why
I'm telling you this story. It's just a memory that I have from watching this video. But I remember
thinking, holy shit, okay, even though this female police officer is on the ball,
Is there finger on the trigger?
I don't know.
I'm not looking at her.
And I remember thinking, if I pull the trigger of this taser,
she's going to hear the pop,
and I can picture her shooting him.
And we're going to have a really bad day.
And then I remember thinking,
what is bad guy done wrong?
Yeah, he's not listening to us.
He won't put down his gun.
He's in his own house.
Sorry, his knife.
He's in his own house.
What is he done wrong?
And I'm thinking, what is he underwere?
arrest for. Is he under arrest for anything? No, he hasn't committed a criminal charge.
So I turned to my part and I said, let's get out of here. I don't like this.
So we backed up, went out the door, and went back to the detachment. Turns out, I think about
that this year's later, it was the right call. Sometimes you just leave. It's called rational
thinking. He's not under arrest. If mom doesn't feel safe,
safe. The mom doesn't have to go back into the house and that's what we told her.
I know there's a point to this story. I just can't remember it.
Well, yeah, okay. The point is, maybe the cop heard the reaction of the taser, thought it was gunfire,
and because he had his finger on the trigger shot by accident.
But it probably was that he got a fish hook in his knee and that didn't feel well.
Anyways, you know what happened?
Bad guy went to the hospital, released him.
Yeah, there was blood.
There's always a lot of blood.
It looks like a lot of blood.
But bad guy was fine.
And he got charged with a couple of things.
Nothing too serious.
I don't know what happened with the police officer.
He's probably going to go back to firearms training or something like that and get a negative 10.04.
A code of conduct.
What a shit show.
Well, sure was a.
I heard last night was a real shit show.
No, it wasn't.
Well, it's not what I heard.
I heard it was a real shit show.
Fuck.
You know what, guys?
Thanks for watching.
Thank you.
I love it when you watch.
I really do.
Bye-bye.
