You know what I mean?
Cut off T's,
airbrush T's.
I had a right at UT.
What you talking about?
No, you didn't.
My senior year.
Shit, it's over Yeah
You already going to college
You already going to college
I think it's not
What basketball
I filed
When he was 18
He had a raid
Listen
So how do y'all feel
When y'all go play a team
And they jersey
Don't match their shorts
Do y'all feel like
It's Christmas
Or do you feel like
They defund them
Nah they finna press
The whole game
Probably like the
Coach yelling fire
and it was
one, two, two press.
That was my team.
That's a black
Air Force One team
for sure.
That was my team.
Hate them teams.
We had mismatched
jerseys.
Who was one of the
hardest people that
you played growing up
that you can remember?
Kobe White.
Easy.
He led the state
in scoring in high school.
And we played against him at AU
and then we had a camp and he averaged, in the camp
I think he averaged like 38.
Yeah. I was
second though. I was after 31 though.
Oh shit.
I like Kobe White.
Kobe White's a hoop. For sure man.
NC kid man. I was like growing up in NC
hoop like you said. There's a lot of pressure around there for them schools.
That's my area.
Yeah, no, for sure.
I was a Carolina fan growing up, but, you know, they ain't showing no love.
So, here's what it is.
They didn't recruit you at all?
No.
Even when I transferred?
No.
What about NC State?
No.
Damn, shout out to Rice.
No, I mean, out of high school, I won't say I was weak, but I won the best.
I mean, when I got the rice,
I was playing a little more.
I got bigger, stronger.
I was 6'5", going into rice,
about 170 pounds.
Damn. Make a wish, kid.
See?
That's it.
The real Toby. See? That's it. It's a homie.
The real homie.
I should have sent my little dude some DoorDash.
That was before the NIL.
Hey, we was struggling, though.
Hey, 6-5-1-7, he's crazy.
That is crazy, sir.
I was 6-5-1-7.
You're down there built like DC Young.
Hold on. You just say things. It's crazy, Dre. I was 6'1", what's that? You're down there built like DC Youngblood.
Hold on, you just,
you just said that?
6'1", what's that?
That's the same thing. But you 6'5", what's that?
Nah, nah, 6'5".
That's the same thing, bro.
6'4".
Nah, but started season nine,
I ended up getting to like
185, like 187.
So,
getting that college weight.
And then I got taller.
And
when I, my second year
I was like
you know
I think I just need to change
and so
I went to AIM in the portal
and it got hectic
I can't lie to you
that's crazy
because you was probably like
the first generation
of people who was able
to access the portal right
I was second
second
yeah I was second
so
because at that time
you didn't even have to tell your coach
you was leaving
you didn't have to have no meeting
you could just dip
that's crazy
oh that's wicked
yeah so did you have a meeting or anything You didn't have to have no meeting or nothing. You could have just dipped. That's crazy. Oh, that's wicked. Yeah.
So did you have a meeting or anything?
I didn't do that.
I'm sorry.
Hold on.
I'm sorry.
The rest was good to you.
We're not kids.
It was a phone call, though.
Hey.
Coach, I'm out.
A voicemail?
I didn't build you up.
No, that's real nice, though.
I'm being serious, though.
How'd that go?
It was during COVID.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, we had to leave.
I couldn't even be over there anyway.
We wasn't going to be face-to-face anyway.
That would have been a tough conversation.
I can't believe it.
I might have stayed there if we had that conversation.
It's like he's about to be the best player in the right system
coming back to the year.
Well, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, the story might have been a little different.
Now, how was that portal, though, in there, that process?
So, it's cool, but, but like when you first put your name
in the portal though it's not what you think it is like yeah you get in schools it's like at the
same level you were just at and i'm not saying like rice is mid-major at the end of the day
and like i'm getting calls from like uncg and like schools like that and they'll just pay uncg but i'm
like i'm not going from rice to uncg yeah it's all disrespect. Nobody wants to go from Rice to UNCG.
I play UNCG.
We don't want to go there.
My dad, he a troll.
He's a hater.
He was like, yo, UNC called.
I was like, oh, he said G.
We had a dude in Indianapolis.
He went to Seller, Illinois University, Evansville.
So he's like, I'm going to S-I-U.
S-I-U.
I'm going to S-I-U.
He put the E lower.
S-I-U.
Lowercase E.
That's crazy.
I was like, oh, man.
That's funny.
I want to ask, like you said, the recruitment situation
was a little bit different out of high school.
Obviously, you come back as a developed player.
And that portal, how is that?
Because for a lot of people who just jump into the kids they just all right i just
want to go in the portal because they just looking to run tell me that ain't the easiest solution to
your situation see it's different like i had good film like i was nice like so i was transferring
and people knew like what it was you know you want that portal is wicked like you won't hear
calls for weeks.
Probably day three, that's when I started getting high major calls and stuff like that.
That's when my phone just started blowing up.
For sure.
What was that call that made you like, oh yeah, I'm here now?
Probably Shocker Smart.
He was at Texas at the time.
He called.
Because I watched him when he was at VCU, they were always around and stuff.
I was like, dang, that's a real good coach right there.
That's your type of basketball, too.
To an extent. I'm not in front of the press.
That's them. They got that.
I'll definitely play that style.
Fast pace, all that stuff.
For sure.
I was saying that, playing that style.
How?
What you mean? Did you pick the school you went to?
Because they don't play that style at all.
Okay, so let me break down what happened.
For about 19 years of my life,
I didn't play no defense whatsoever.
And I said to myself,
like, no, you didn't even try?
No, no, I didn't.
I was just worried about getting buckets.
Get dirty.
But I was like, if I want to be a high NBA,
like a high prospect in the NBA, I got to play some defense. if I want to be a high NBA, like a high, like,
prospect in the NBA,
I got to play some defense.
So,
went to school,
I played the most defense.
Yeah,
that's interesting.
I would never
in my life
go to school for defense.
So,
you had a different
mentality,
though.
Yeah,
I mean,
it was mainly just
in your head,
though.
Because 19 years,
you damn near
thinking for yourself
at this point. no, I mean, I try to think ahead. Was it was that in your head, though? Because 19 years, you damn near thinking for yourself at this point.
Yeah, no, I mean,
I try to think ahead.
Was it your dad,
your coaches?
Like, who, like,
in order to play defense?
I mean, like,
they said stuff about it,
but that was really just me
because they really wanted me
to go to Villanova.
That was, like, my other option.
Damn.
That would've been nice.
Yeah, that would've been nice.
Yeah, no, but, like,
that's a tough choice.
Virginia and Villanova,
you really, like,
two best schools you can pick.
I wasn't picking no school for defense.
I went to Wake Forest, the real school in the ACC.
No way you just call Wake Forest the real school in the ACC.
Yeah.
Virginia's bad this year.
Y'all not much better.
Nope.
Go check the standards.
Go check the standards.
I ain't been looking at the camera.
I know he ain't been watching.
Wake Forest was sad when you was in. Nope. Go check the standards. Go check the standards. I ain't been looking at the camera. I know he ain't been watching. White course was sad
when you was there.
Yeah.
Oh,
he got chill
because Virginia was ass
when I was there.
They had Sean Singletary.
We talking about,
we talking about stuff
when you was there,
when I was there, man.
It don't even matter.
When you was there, though.
That's definitely 15 years.
We was good.
We was there.
We lost first round, sadly,
but it is what it is.
Who'd y'all lose to?
Yeah. Shout out to Kyle Guy.'d y'all lose to? Yeah.
Shout out to Kyle Guy.
That's that town, baby.
Yeah.
We lost to Ohio.
Oh, man.
Jalen Preston, though.
They had Jalen Preston in that.
On that team.
I know.
He was.
Y'all helped him get to the league.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
Y'all did.
We lost in the first round.
I was in school, too.
Don't worry about that.
It be like that sometimes, bro.
Don't worry about that.
I think our situation was a little bit different,
but nonetheless, early trip.
Same thing, though.
Where y'all played at?
Indy?
Damn.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was bad.
Oh, that's tough.
But the thing is, though, bro,
hold on, though.
It was like the COVID year, though,
so we got COVID
during the ACC tournament,
so we had to forfeit.
And the tournament,
like the NCAA tournament,
was five days after yeah
you're not just supposed to be able to play during a couple you got it's a week right it was just
like we're just gonna figure it out day before the game we flew up there tested at two in the
morning tested again at 10 in the morning and they we played oh yeah they was trying to get
you out of there that's what i'm saying that was a money grab absolutely but here's what it is though
for sure damn wicked situation but like for you as a player in virginia how was it like all right That was a money grab. Absolutely. But here's what it is, though. For sure.
Damn.
Wicked situation.
But, like, for you as a player in Virginia, how was that?
Like, all right, now I'm on the stage I want to be on.
I'm getting to get my shit off.
What's that feeling like?

I remember it was the first game
because I wasn't even supposed to play that first year
I was, we told everybody I'm a red shirt
and stronger, play the next year
go to the league, and I was playing like everybody knew that I get to practice i'm cooking and the coach like i mean you can play right now
if you really want to look at my dad i said i can't lie i'm trying to hoop i ain't trying to
sit down like just be chilling for a whole year and um so i got my transfer like waiver like the
day before the game we played Towson and
I had like
six threes
dunked on somebody
got an M1
was playing on ESPN
I was like oh shoot
I might be
I might be out of it
and I saw my name
on NBADraft.net
and I was like
hey
and I was like
they said first round
next year
like alright
hold up
I might be out of it
so
yeah that's
that's really how it happened
what number they had you
on the board
30
yeah it was right there yeah right there yeah you bet on yourself I hit. So yeah, that's, that's really how it happened. What number they had you on the board? 30.
Yeah.
It was right there.
Yeah.
Right there.
Yeah.
Right.
You bet on yourself.
That's a bad man.
Got away.
That's a bad man.
Did it mess you up though? Like when you see your name on the draft board?
It did because the next game we lost to San Francisco.
Okay.
And my name was taken off the board.
That's what I'm saying.
That's a good one.
Damn. I'm weak again.
Nah, you see your name on that
draft board. I was at three one
time. Damn. Yeah, it's different
than 30, though. Nah, it's just
huge. Nah, I was like, dang, it's Blake Griffin, James
Harden, and me. Then I
look back again. I was 28.
Like, boy, I gotta stop looking at this shit. And y'all didn't lose. Didn back again. I was 28. Like, boy, I got to stop
looking at this shit.
And y'all didn't lose.
Didn't lose.
I was like,
God, Lee.
For sure, man.
That's crazy.
You was going to redshirt
the whole year
and end up killing
that whole year.
So at this point,
you're like,
all right,
we thought we was going
to go to the league next year,
but fuck it,
we can do it now.
Yeah, I didn't.
It was a game
in January against Syracuse.
I had like 16
8
horses
like blocks
whatever
and the assistant coach
was like
yo I gotta
send these agents
numbers to your dad
because I don't know
if you're gonna be able
to be here next year
I'm like
what you talking about bro
I'm coming back to school
and then as time
kept going
like ESPN
started picking up
something that said
sleeper for
potential first roundround pick.
I'm like, shoot.
If I can leave it now, I'm leaving now.
I ain't going to come back and let them pick my game apart even more?
Absolutely not.
That's a smart man.
And I started locking in.
That was during COVID, too, so I ain't seen nobody.
I won't try and get COVID.
I won't try and mess up my draft stock, none of that.
I was in my room going crazy.
Damn.
So you didn't work out for no teams?
No, I did.
No, I did.
I worked out 14 teams. I had 14 workups. Damn, bro. Damn. So you didn't work out for no teams? No, I did. No, I did. I worked out 14 teams.
I had 14 workouts.
Damn, bro.
Yeah.
That's a nice journey right there.
14 workouts.
What was your best workout that you feel?
Go to say.
Who you thought was going to take you?
I know they regret the fuck.
Is that who you thought was going to take you?
Yeah.
I know they regret that.
Damn, San Fran.
Get well soon.
Damn, who they picking that one?
Do they remember? It's 2021. Oh, no. Damn, who they picking now, man? Do they remember?
It's 2021.
Oh, no, I remember who it is, but I'm going to...
I'm going to say the name.
You got me over here thinking.
I'm over here.
I'm over here.
That's Michelle.
Say the name.
I mean, I'll tell you, everybody was drafted.
They drafted Kaminga and Moody.
Yeah, yeah.
I'll say it's Kaminga and Moody.
Yeah, I'll probably take you over Kamega and Moody.
I mean, they're good
players, but...
Yeah, no, they're
good players, but,
you know, I know
they regret that
a little bit.
Wow, for sure.
Especially Moody
because he was
known as a shooter.
And no disrespect
to Moody, he's a
good player, but
he was known
as a shooter.
Mm-hmm.
And you got a
goddamn...
What's your 16?
Basically.
Give or take.
Yeah.
That shoot probably
better.
I mean, I was 50, 40, 90 in Virginia.
Yeah.
That's why.
That's why I missed that.
Stock of shit.
Obviously, athletic as shit.
Hell yeah.
Beyond that hoop.
Obviously, you know, end up in the world.
But he was a trade on draft night.
How was that?
I mean, I kind of knew what was happening.
Because they told me the day before, they were like, all right, they're moving back
from 10 to 17. When they did that, I was like, all right, they're moving back from 10 to 17.
When they did that, I was like, all right, I'm not going past 17.
But I also wasn't invited to the green room, which I was hot about, too.
Like, I wanted to be at the green room.
You wanted to do that?
You didn't enjoy it?
Like, you was at the crib?
Yeah, I was at the crib.
You didn't enjoy it with the fam, though?
There's too many people.
Because then, you know, like, there'd be some family members that'd be a little worse.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so, like, they're like, oh, like, man, I knew you was up.
Bro, I ain't trying to hear that right now.
I'm stressed.
I'm trying to figure out where I'm going with that.
I ain't go to the green room.
I was too nervous.
Really?
I ain't want to be that guy, the last dude in the green room.
Everybody got spooky for me.
I was like, nah, I can't do that.
I'm too nervous.
Yeah, yeah, I know.
That's a bad feeling.
Yeah, that's a bad feeling.
But you knew you was going no later than 17.
I knew no later than 17.
Oh, yeah.
I'll be mad about that too then.
That's what it is though.
For sure, man.
What's that feeling like?
All right, we went to Rice.
We done turned up.
Now we in the league.
What's that first initial
welcome to the league moment
like for you?
It might have been
like the first open gym.
I was going to RBI
and I was like...
And like...
Damn.
When you see it on film,
he's moving slow. He's not really like getting by people. He's just shooting over people. I was like and like when you see it on film it's he moving slow
like he's not really like
getting by people
he's just shooting over people
I'm like
alright like
nah
nah he was hooping
it was put a ball on you that day
yeah
you said what
put a ball
yeah
yeah
yeah bro
pause bro
yeah
it's not a real commercial
I fuck with you though cause you checking shit that's your shit yeah he said what Yeah. It's not a real commercial.
I fuck with you, though,
because you checking shit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He said, what?
Nah.
I fuck with that.
It's second nature, though.
It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
My team, they just...
They the worst.
They the worst.
Nah, they the worst.
They the worst.
We got police,
the Pulse police on our team.
Oh, y'all got a hell of a roster.
Most definitely.
Shout out to the Pelicans,
my dogs. Yeah, yeah. I like y'all team a hell of a roster. Most definitely. Shout out to the Pelicans, my dogs.
Yeah, yeah.
I like y'all team, actually.
Yeah.
One of my favorite teams.
One of my homies,
Woo,
Javante Green.
Oh, that's my dog.
Shout out to Gary.
Yeah, that's...
Woo!
He probably the funniest dude
on the team, bro.
Oh, God, Woo.
He loud, too, bro.
All the time.
He do not, like,
there's no, like,
inside voice for him.
He hype every day.
Every day. I respect it, bro. Because there definitely be like, inside voice for him. He hype every day. Every day.
I respect it, bro.
Because there definitely be some days where probably should not be that hype.
He still bring energy.
What was that?
Don't start laughing, bro.
I know what you're thinking.
No, I know it get dark in that locker room sometimes.
And the media room be a little different.
Shout out to Double M.
My man.
Maybach music.
Oh, I like that Maybach music
Sweet
So be
Be our Buster Jazz
That first open show
We got Buster Jazz
Welcome to the league
Little nigga
So
And you know what's even crazier
Devontae Graham
He was on the team too
And at open gym
I ain't even scored
One bucket the whole day.
Not one.
The whole day.
Your confidence was shot.
In the trash, bro.
It was bad.
And Devontae was like, I can't lie, bro.
You can't go a whole day and not get one bucket, not even layup or nothing.
I was like, I got to figure this out.
He liked that, though.
Probably had a little nerves, too.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Coach was there, all that stuff.
First-round pick.
Yeah, he'd be nervous.
He'd take you under his wing, though, after that.
Absolutely.
Bro, I was watching a workout, and I'm like,
I ain't working hard enough.
So, like, I got to figure out if I want to be at his level,
I got to work like he do.
So, he was the person that, like, opened my eyes,
like, really, like, working hard and, like,
being real intentional about your work. But you can see like the like from seeing you your first year i
think you had a good work year i'm like great work year and i see your second year in the
development i know you went through an injury and now we see you now like with bi not playing this
year and kind of leaving i'm not now he's gone or whatever but he left and then i see your growth we
always talk about in the morning show. We like, damn,
he had another 30 point game.
Damn,
35.
That boy killing.
He killing.
He killing.
And I'm like,
my boy getting a mother.
Somebody got to.
Somebody got to.
Somebody got to.
Somebody got to.
Somebody got to.
But like,
the CEO development,
like,
I think you're making
that next step,
that stride
to be the go-to guy
on the team,
you and Zion,
obviously.
But Zion,
you know,
he plays.
Hopefully he can get healthy.
Yeah.
And stay healthy.
Look at him.
Here you go, bro.
I'm not,
I'm just saying,
nigga,
you be gunning,
you be killing.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Rather Zion,
rather Zion is there or not,
you still hold it down.
You know what I mean?
So,
absolutely.
Do that feel good?
Like,
knowing that,
basically, you the go-to. You know what I mean? Absolutely. Dude, I feel good, like, knowing that, basically,
you the go-to guy now.
Swing that shit.
Yeah, swing that shit.
Yeah, for real.
Nah, I mean,
for me, it's just, like,
I know this summer,
well, the summer before,
I was like, I'm going to work on my game, so I'm not relying
on other people.
Okay.
Because every mini-game is,
like, my third year.
I'm just waiting in the corner
chilling.
I'm just like, bro, I just can't do this. I'm going crazy. I ain't touch the ball
and find possessions. I get the
ball, they swing it to me off a foreign object.
I can't shoot now.
I was like, I'm not doing that.
I just worked on my game. I just made sure I stayed
aggressive and just changed my mindset
to an extent.
You already talked about that.
That transition to like, I'm used to having
the ball in my hands
and now it's just like,
all right, I got a fitness offense.
Like, all right,
I get the ball once every two minutes.
Y'all want me to shoot?
I ain't warmed up or nothing.
Like, that's a lot of pressure.
It is.
And I know as a young player,
because I did have to run
the corner with Joe Johnson
and those guys.
I know what that feeling's like.
So when you actually get a chance
to beat a guy
and I'm looking at you,
I'm like, shit,
I ain't do enough
because you getting 20 attempts. I'm like, my boy I ain't doing enough. Because you're getting 20 attempts.
I'm like,
my boy figured it out quick.
Yeah, you got to
let her shop some lectures.
Oh, love it.
I mean,
what's funny is,
I ain't going to say
the name of the coach.
One of the coaches,
he was like,
I mean, they paid you already.
They can't unpay you.
That's a fact.
You might as well do
what you want to do
at this point.
That's a fact.
And so, yeah,
my third year,
I was stressing. I have a bad game. I'm like, damn, I ain't going to as well do what you want to do at this point. That's a fact. And so, yeah, my third year, I was stressing.
I have a bad game.
I'm like, damn,
I ain't going to get paid
when I really want to.
That's where I'm feeling, bro.
I like you.
Oh, that's the same, bro.
I like you, bro.
And then, like,
that last road trip,
we played Golden State.
I had, like, 28.
Played Sacramento.
I had, like, 29.
And then we played
somebody else
and I was hoping. I said, yeah, I'm going to make me some money. I'll be all right. I had like 29. And then we played somebody else and I was hoping.
I said, yeah, I'm going to make me some money.
I'll be all right.
I said, yeah, I'll be all right, man.
That's the name of the game.
You fucking right.
You get paid.
You play well, you get paid.
When did you figure out like, all right, I'm here now, though.
Like what year was that?
Did you start understanding like how the NBA game is played?
Where you was like super confident in yourself?
I would have to say playing game my rookie year.
We played against the Clippers.
We were up 20, going into half.
Third quarter, we down 10.
They told me the game.
Yeah, crazy.
30 points lead? Yeah, it was bad. Yeah, crazy. 30 points lead?
Yeah, it was bad.
Okay, respect.
And it was loud in there.
And, like, Staples and his don't get, like, this was Staples at the time.
Staples don't get loud like that.
It was loud in there.
And I'm just like, man, we finna go home.
I ain't going to the playoffs.
I ain't what am I finna do for the summer.
But then they threw me in the game.
I said, all right, we're going to figure this out.
I ended up hitting, like, four or five threes or something like that at the end of the game. So we went to the playoffs.. I said, all right, we're going to figure this out. I ended up hitting like four or five threes
or something like that
at the end of the game.
So we went to the playoffs.
I was like, all right,
that might be nice.
Moments like that,
a lot of people,
they just going to get into their little shell.
That's hard.
Yeah.
I got a two-part question for this.
All right, rookie deal,
first game paid, went crazy.
What you cop?
Not no responsible shit.
What you wild out with?
What did I get? I can't
lie. Like, I don't be making wild
well, now.
It's a two-part question. We go see them shoes.
Yeah. I know them Botteghe's
just came out. They didn't come out of full lockers.
Don't put them up on the table, nigga.
Cross your legs and shit.
You can get some real camera time, nigga.
It's cool.
They cool. They cool.
We all general releases. It's cool. I still care right there. They cool. They cool. They cool.
We all general releases.
Yeah.
These was free.
This is
make a whiskey.
And you're going
to make a whiskey.
They're my favorite people,
brother.
Something wrong with you,
bro.
We can't never get
no proper.
If you acknowledge it,
it gets worse.
What you buy, man?
Damn, what you buy?
That's the question for you.
Nah, you know what's crazy?
I was about to buy a chain.
I was very close to buying a chain.
Okay.
Then my teammate Josh Hart, he was just like, bro, like, you just throwing money away.
You might as well get you a watch.
And then, like, the whole value, you might get, you know, more.
And so, I ended up buying, like, a little Rolex, Scott Dweller.
Okay.
That's what Mike got on.
Oh, no, that's a dead.
That's a dead.
You saw that Apple Watch over there.
You know what I'm saying?
I know, I did.
He got one.
He bought like three or four Rolexes.
So he got one of those Scott Dwellers.
Oh, you got one.
Yeah, he got the G-Shock on today.
He got a Cuban anklet.
Bust down.
Yeah.
He bust down an anklet.
He trying to put the anklet on his wife's shoulder.
The ultimate warrior.
He the real ghost.
He got out the place
and said,
Sam Fran,
I'm here.
He put his ankle up.
Sam Fran,
I'm here.
The ankle up is crazy.
My fault.
All right,
you ain't got a mic today.
I believe you love it.
Bruce Smith.
He can't defend himself, bro. That's the best part. That is crazy. Motherfucker. All right, Mike. You ain't got a mic today. I believe you love it. This is it. He can't defend himself, bro.
That's the best part.
Shoot the strays.
All right, second part of the question.
New extension, what you got, man?
I know you get wherever you go.
I know you went crazy.
I got a car.
I'm just going to say that.
Okay.
When people start doing that,
they know what type of car it is.
It is not a Toyota. You deserve it, though, man. Work hard. You know what type of time it is it's not a Toyota
you deserve it though
man
work hard
it's funny though
I told my financial advisor
I said when I sign
this contract
I'm making a
African American
purchase
I said I'm gonna
make sure
I make one of them
purchases
I'm gonna
I'm gonna get
something I want
exactly what I want
I don't care
exactly like
if it's too much
whatever
I'm gonna be alright it's a dream man yeah I'm gonna make sure I want. Like, I don't care exactly, like, if it's too much, whatever, whatever. Like, I'm going to be all right.
It's a dream, man.
Yeah, I'm going to make sure I look out for myself.
Yeah.
Work hard, man.
You get to live your dream.
Get something you like.
Oh, boy, you and Mike Lowry with it.
Yeah, I had got the Porsche, yeah.
Porsche 911.
Yeah.
I wanted to get something.
Got me a nice little truck.
You making all these faces?
What was it?
What you get?
You got the Lamb truck?
Nah.
Billy.
The Rolls Royce truck.
Yeah, I feel that.
I like that.
Ain't nothing wrong with that.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
Yeah.
I love it.
We celebrating wins on this show.
We just walk by them now.
Just look at them.
Yeah, we probably looked at yours when we was in the room.
I think I'm in the car door.
Let me see what's on this.
We just want to sit in here.
Call them seats, dude.
Just want to take green or worse. seats no Devontae Green or worse
he was like
he said let me get
I just need a picture bro
that's it
that's all I'm on
man don't be like that
hey
pull your head to the side
that's why I'm taking phones
in the car
nah
you done had any crazy
matchups
like so far in the league
with like another opponent
like I had a battle
you know what's crazy when we played Denver in Denver we had like a home and home Like I had a battle.
You know what's crazy?
When we played Denver, in Denver, we had like a home-and-home.
Game I had 41, Michael Porter had 36 or 38.
And it was all like both of us were like hooping in third quarter.
He was hitting shots, I was hitting shots.
So it was cool just like shot making because then at the time I was just in like a flow state kind of.
I wasn't even really thinking.
I was just shooting the ball.
That was it.
And y'all both were, like, y'all both shooting at a high clip.
Yeah, they both shooting.
Don't play no defense.
That's right.
He play.
Was you guarding?
I won't guard him, no.
But who was guarding?
I don't remember, bro.
Damn, Jeff.
We be switching, bro. We be switching, bro.
One, two, five.
Yeah, team defense, bro.
It's a team.
We get scored on as a team.
Okay, so shoot.
I got to coach you off.
Who got more assists in that game?
Him or MPJ?
Him.
Bro, MPJ.
I had 11 assists last game.
Come on, dog.
MPJ.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
MPJ.
MPJ.
Oh, yeah, no, that game, I think I had two assists that game. He had none. Guarantee. Oh yeah.
No,
that game.
I think I had to assist that game.
You're into,
you know,
we got a running joke.
Like we,
we look at MPJ since every,
every game.
Yeah.
Average one.
And it's hard to just average one.
I mean,
you fall.
You fall into two assists a night.
You average one.
I'm just,
I just made that up,
but we feel like every time we check, it's like, it's two.
It's two.
Shout out to Verify Buckets, man.
You know what's up with this.
That's good.
He is definitely a Verify Bucket.
Who was the hardest person you had to guard there?

I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes.
But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no.
Across the country,
cops called this taser the revolution.
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Cops believed everything that taser told them.

Probably Shea.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, we had a playoff series
with him so
that was
how much he gave you
he gave the team
30
ah this nigga here
man
yo
ain't no switch
alright I'll tell you this
first game
he was like
1, 4, 6
on like
when I guard him
second game
he was like
6 or 6
law averages
he had to figure it out.
Yeah. I understand now.
What's crazy is I thought
I had figured it out first game. I was like, oh yeah,
I had to figure it out. The second game,
he had another counter. I said, all right.
There's a reason why he averaged 30.
That's what would be
making me high. People are like, oh, he cooked you.
He averaged 30.
He played 70, 80 games, averaged 30. Yeah. He played 70,
80 games,
averaged 30.
Everybody is getting 30, bro.
Nah, that's a fact.
There's no discrimination here.
That's a fact, bro.
You think he got the best,
like, bag in the league?
Like, you guard Kyrie?
Yeah.
I would say it's gotta be Kyrie, though.
Gotta be Kyrie.
Yeah, it's Kyrie.
Go.
Yeah, Kyrie.
He right there, though.
Yeah, they like one and two.
It's different.
It's just different.
Like, Kyrie, he has like a cadence a cadence and, like, a pace to him.
Where it's like, you know he's going to swing, do this, do that, counter.
Shea, you just, like, you do not know what he's going to do.
Good look.
Kyrie, like, he be practicing.
Like, I think he know his head.
Like, all right, I'm just about to hit him with a cross and pull up.
Oh, yeah.
This is like, like, Shea really counter.
No, true. Like, you bump him, he go behind the back spin, come back with the end. And I'm like, golly, I don't want to hit him with a cross and pull up. Oh, yeah. This is like, like, Shea really counter. No, true.
Like, you bump him, he go behind the back spin, come back with the end.
And I'm like, golly, I don't want to guard him.
He got too much.
Like, y'all know me.
I'll just foul him at that point.
When he start doing that.
Oh, we know you're going to foul.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We know you're going to foul.
See, y'all doing that.
I know you got to look his compilation up.
Go ahead, look at my file.
You got to file.
Nothing crazy. No, nothing crazy. I've about to go look his top. Go ahead. Look at my phone. You got no bells. Nothing crazy.
No, nothing crazy.
I've been getting texts recently for some reason, though.
Oh, you be cussing the refs out?
My type of guy.
He the type of guy.
He the type of rapper.
He want to change.
Cuss refs out.
Got the roll.
Jello on the way.
Wow.
He don't swerve.
That boy in New Orleans, too.
Damn, don't live in South Jersey.
Oh, yeah, we got to get you a T-shirt.
Let's go.
Oh, yeah, I got jokes today.
All right.
Everybody got jokes today.
How many texts you got?
I got two in the last, like, week.
Boy, you got a lot of work.
Bro, but, like, nah, bro.
But, like, there's something to be weak, though.
Like, the last one was really weak.
Like, I was actually, like, there was one, like, all right, I was trying to get a take.
Like, when we was in Sacramento, I went down like the last possession.
Got fouled and called out.
I wild out.
I came out to you.
And I felt bad after because before the game, the ref asked me.
He was like, so how have you been, man?
You know, have you been blessed?
You been getting treated well?
And I was like, dang.
He had this conversation with me before the game.
I just cussed him out.
Nah, bro, you the opps, bro.
Who is it?
I hate Scott Foster. And Tony Brothers.
And Tony Brothers. I ain't got no problem
with Tony. Oh.
Never mind.
Wait, I forgot about that.
I hate Tony Brothers.
We don't want to talk too much about the
refs. Trey's still in the league.
I was going to tell him, don't cuss them out. If the refs Trey's still in the league yeah yeah
I was going to tell him
don't cuss them out
because if you cuss them out
you
not going to get a call
another year
you see
for Evan Fleet
yeah bro
don't do that
don't do that
they ain't going to
give you no calls
so
you know
I can understand
you got a Mike Conley
Mike Conley had to
take his whole career
everybody love Mike
just go sit your little ass
down on the bench and yell, bro.
Just start yelling at your hotel.
Pause, yeah.
I was going to ask you, what you do when you get calls?
I'll punch you.
I'll punch a cop.
What if a gladiator was?
Nah, see.
Y'all know I got a little angry pride because I don't like being cheated.
I feel like if y'all cheat me, I'm going to take it in my own hands.
We're going to figure this out.
So learn from the old heads, Trey.
Protect your money, kid.
Yeah, don't do it.
I lost the free.
I ain't got that many, though.
It's been two in the last week.
Overall, I probably got like five texts.
What's your favorite thing about the league?
I know it's playing at the highest level, but, like, I used to ask people this.
What was, like, your favorite thing when you made it to the league?
Like, actually, like, my real answer is being able to, like, show my parents, like, the experiences and stuff like that.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, I went to All-Star two years ago?
Three years ago?
I was in Utah.
And I did the dunk contest
and my mom and dad got to meet
like Dr. J.
Yeah.
Like Charles Barkley.
Like all these old hits
that, you know,
they used to watch
and I really appreciate it
and just seen like
a smile on their face.
That was like the biggest thing for me.
See, my biggest thing
when I first got to the league
at Wake Forest,
we was kind of like,
they were stingy.
But you got unlimited Gatorade.
That's what you hype about?
Listen, that shit is crazy.
They be putting this shit in the back of your trunk, right?
They do that for y'all?
No.
Y'all ain't have it like us.
It's like, you can get, we can get 40 cases of Gatorade.
They put it in your trunk.
I couldn't believe this shit.
I was 20, turned 20.
Look how you said
you was geeked about that.
That's how you know
a nigga had a rough life.
And I mean,
that boy appreciate
everything that come
to his way.
You know what I mean?
Nigga gave him
something to drink.
This nigga,
million dollar nigga.
He gave the nigga
a Gatorade.
He blessed.
You talking about
showing your mama
Dr. J.
Motherfucker had the all-star game
chilling
this nigga
giving his family
nigga what color
blue
it's the truth
we ain't got to
share no more y'all
I swear bro
I couldn't believe
you had unlimited
Gatorade
that's just
something I
I don't know
maybe that's just me
I don't know
it is
hey man
y'all appreciate
little things bro it was little things I ain't bought a Maybe that's just me. I don't know. It is. I appreciate little things, bro.
It was little things. I didn't buy a drink
for like three years.
I had water, propels.
Is that why you always had
that shit in your cabinet?
No, he did though.
That's dope.
He always had everything free.
Yeah, that shit was always.
Redacted.
We'll get that. Don't worry about Pinterest. It was all with ****. That was the gang. We're knackered. We'll get that.
Don't worry about it.
We good.
This nigga is a clown.
It was a little thing.
You part.
You part.
See how he do with me, bro.
It's all good.
You talked about the duck houses.
How was that?
Like, being isolated, everybody all eyes on you.
Like, what's that like to prepare for that and then being in that moment?
I'll say the moment's cool.
Like, I like playing, like, on the road because it gives you that like man in the arena
feeling like they booing you and stuff like i'm a hater at heart so i kind of appreciate like
having those like men in the arena time so um it's weird though like that first dunk you nervous
like super nervous because you can't miss your first dunk like you've seen in duck contests
last night you miss your first dunk it's just yeah seen the dunk contest last night. You miss your first dunk. It's just bad start.
Yeah, bad start for you.
So, you know, it was cool, though.
I feel like I was fighting an uphill battle.
But, like, you know, I still had a good time, though.
Sure.
You are one of the bounciest players in the league, though.
Like, you athletic as shit.
I didn't know that when you was at Virginia.
I knew you were athletic, but how you jumped in that dunk contest.
We all were talking about it.
I remember we was watching.
I was like, what the?
Like, that boy, you got the juice.
You talk to LeBron?
No.
No.
Nah.
Because I know what you're trying to do.
I'll try to figure out.
Y'all think he's jumping too high, man.
You know what's crazy?
I didn't get my first dunk
To my senior in high school
Wow
Damn
So he was 165
So 6'5", 165
No athleticism
Just shooting
That was it
I'm telling you
What happened?
I got in the weight room
That was really it
And then also just
Hitting puberty
Being honest with you
Damn, you hit puberty?
Damn, what was that?
Like, for real?
That boy,
something he didn't apply for
year over?
Damn, Steve, girl.
You hit puberty
in your senior year?
So late, bro.
I can't control that.
I'm talking about
puberty in your senior year?
It was wicked.
Oh, shit.
Problem was wild.
Yeah, wild problem.
I don't wonder why you wouldn't get no
taxes.
You didn't even grow up until your body.
Here we go, brother.
Let's see why you went to Rice.
Okay.
Rice first.
Okay.
Rice was cool, bro.
You didn't hit puberty.
So when you actually hit it,
it was time to go to Virginia.
That's respectful.
Yeah, kind of.
Yeah, that's kind of how it played out.
Don't say, don't agree with me on that.
Did it?
I mean.
I still did, bro.
Yeah.
That is crazy, bro.
I never heard that ever in my life. Nah, it's meant to be, bro. Man, don't even start that, bro. Nah, because you kept growing in crazy, bro. I've never heard that ever in my life.
No, it's meant to be, bro.
Man, don't even start that, bro.
No, because you kept growing in college, bro.
You growing and you 20 years old.
That's crazy, bro.
It's meant to be, bro.
You was meant to be in the league, bro.
For sure.
Your time is impeccable for sure, man.
I want to say, obviously, up and down here,
but what's the one thing you've enjoyed about this season so far, man?
Obviously, coming to see y'all, being a leader,
but what's it like you enjoy so far
with this new season with you?
Biggest thing is just growth.
Like, for me, I get so, like, lost to the process
of working hard and just getting better each day.
And so, now, like, I'm actually getting game reps.
Like, I'm getting pick and rolls now.
Like, I ain't never been in a pick and roll for real.
So, you know, people double-team me.
I'm seeing different looks,
and I just know where I want to get to eventually. I'm going to need these game reps right real. So, you know, people double team me. I'm seeing different looks. And I just know where I want to get to eventually.
I'm going to need these game reps right now.
So, you know, it's been good.
Where do you want to get to?
Like, where should we go?
All-NBA.
All-NBA.
Yeah, All-NBA for sure.
Yes.
You can get there.
You can get there.
For sure.
Absolutely.
You're 24, right?
Yeah, 24.
Oh, yeah, you still young, bro.
Yeah, I got time.
I'll be all right.
I know you talk about this all the time. Like, the pressure's up as well to perform, right? Now, 24. Oh, yeah, you still young, bro. Yeah, I got time. I'm going to be all right. I know you talk about this all the time,
like the pressures of basketball to perform, right?
Now you're in a situation, all right, cool, we inked the deal.
How does it feel now, like that pressure, like you said,
going from year three to year four is like, all right,
I had to fight for this.
I was struggling to get there.
But now it's like, all right, cool, I can just hoop again.
What's that feeling like?
It's great.
I'll tell you that.
Because like I said before, them year three games, I go one for six and three. I'm like you that because I, like I said before them year three games,
I go one for six
and three.
I'm like,
hey,
I ain't finna get paid
or I really want to.
I'm be struggling
blah, blah, blah.
This and the third.
And now I shoot one for six.
Hey, bro,
it is what it is.
I'll make it back next game.
Yeah.
I mean,
you talk about you
as like it was
a real stressful process
for you that first
essential pause.
Yeah,
I broke out of highs.
It was too stressful, bro. I wanted to hoop. pause. Yeah, I broke out in hives. It was too stressful, bro.
I wanted to hoop.
Like you said, I looked at every game, every stat.
If I wasn't shooting 40 from the three, I was worried, all this stuff.
But once you get that extension, you get paid, it ain't no pressure no more.
Now as you start reaching goals, like I'm trying to make the all-star team,
I'm trying to do this, you're not even worried about missed shots
and all that stuff because you know that's part of the game.
Absolutely. Yeah, so now
we expect you from next year.
We know it's a little struggle this year with New Orleans
or whatever. Y'all had a lot of stuff going on.
Zion play.
You play.
We expect you to be making a push for the All-Star game, right?
Absolutely. Yeah, I expect that.
For sure.
What you be eating down there, man,
in New Orleans, man. Best food city
in the world, baby. I'm talking about food.
Nigga, what you looking for the game?
Boudin.
You say that?
Hold on.
I'm about to get on both of y'all's ass.
See, I'm trying to be...
She laughing.
You say that's a
boudin ball?
All right, Chuck. Ducky Say that's a booty at ball Alright Man tell me some
footwork
Quit playing man
Damn
My bad bro
This is
This is the end of the question
though don't go
Okay
Cause I know
what you thinking
No I'm not
I promise bro
No
I'm not
I promise
I'm not I'm not thinking about it I'm not. I promise, bro. No. I'm not. I promise.
I'm not thinking about it. I was thinking it.
See?
See?
Nah, bro.
We ain't doing that.
I ain't doing that.
I was thinking it.
Nah, I can't lie.
They got a lot of great food out there.
But, like, I'm not a fan of, like, real, like, New Orleans food, like, gumbo, all that other
stuff.
Oh, you don't fuck with that.
I ain't going to say I don't.
I'm just not going to go out of my way to get it.
Gotcha.
No disrespect to y'all culture.
We're trying to get him to learn and try new stuff
on the food side.
New Orleans, they eat gator down there.
Oh, no. Gator bites?
Bust down.
It's not that bad, bro.
No, no, no, no.
He doesn't like it at all.
So they fast
