Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Sarah Spain, host of Good Game with Sarah Spain, and the co-author of the new book, Runs in the Family,
Starting point is 00:01:57 an incredible true story of football, fatherhood, and belonging, written with and about Las Vegas Raiders running backs coach, Dylan McCullough. It's the story of a football coach and father of four who sees his life forever changed by the unsealing of his adoption records. And it's got a twist you won't believe. Based on the viral ESPN story I did a few years ago, this book will blow your mind and bring you to tears. Buy Runs in the Family wherever books are sold. The Volume. All right, man, we happy this happened while we were still in the studio.
Starting point is 00:02:26 We didn't have to come back at night. Breaking, breaking, breaking news, man. It is reported. Shout out to Shams. Chris Middleton is now a Washington wizard. He has been traded down there with A.J. Johnson in the pick swap for Kyle Kuzma, Patrick Baldwin Jr., and second round pick compensation. We just talked about this on the morning show,
Starting point is 00:02:41 about this being a strong possibility. Teague, initial reactions. How you feel about this trade, man? Money swap? Or do you think the Bucks trying to do something else with this? It's a money swap. They're going to keep Kuz, but I mean, Chris Middleton about to be on his way again. I'm sure. I mean, it's the last day.
Starting point is 00:02:56 I'm sure he's not going to stay in Washington. Yeah. Yeah, that would be terrible. He's either going to play the rest of this year out and get healthy and then get traded in the summer. But I can't see Chris staying in Washington. Do you think that they could trade Chris somewhere else and get a first-round pick possibly for us? Hell no.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Okay. Not no first-round pick. Because we got two more years on this deal. Yeah, but he definitely can get a trade, though. But he can help somebody. He can go to a contending team and definitely help. But his money is a little iffy. Most definitely.
Starting point is 00:03:23 What Chris might be here, like 22? No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. He's in his 30s. 40s down there. Yeah, Chris Middleton make 40 million a year? Oh, okay. 30?
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah. I think anybody pick up Chris Middleton don't know, though, that need a two-way player like that. But I just don't know. At 30 million, he might be sitting in Washington for the rest of the year.
Starting point is 00:03:47 You want to take a chance on Chris Milton? Yeah, I love Chris. I think he's a closer. I think he can play. I think he's still got a lot left in the tank. If you was like,
Starting point is 00:03:55 I mean, you know, I know that's your man. I wasn't saying it about him. I was just saying like, if he was like a Memphis, a Houston, a Denver,
Starting point is 00:04:03 a Golden State, if Jimmy and them don't work out? It's the money. That's the biggest thing. They make a lot of money. 30 million, I mean, it ain't the most. It ain't crazy. It ain't a max deal.
Starting point is 00:04:16 For a player like that, though, you ain't willing to take the risk? Depends who I am. I'm Golden State. No. Nah, he got too many injuries. am. If I'm Golden State, no. Nah, he got too many injuries. They not for sure about the ankles, man.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Yeah. The ankles ain't adding up right now for some reason because he's a Milwaukee legend. People love him in Milwaukee. He's been there for a long time. For them to get rid of him, there's got to be something more
Starting point is 00:04:39 with them ankles. Like you said, when he's on the court, he's a problem. You talked about his injuries last year. He killed the Pacers last year in the playoffs. He's still very, very capable. Like you said,
Starting point is 00:04:50 the injury health, the situation plays a part. But for the Bucs in the situation, Kyle Kuzma, he knows how to play with Superstar. How can he help this team out? He got that I don't give a fuck mentality. He going to go out and do him.
Starting point is 00:05:03 So he going to compete. And he a competitor. That's one thing I do like about Kuz. He a fuck mentality. Like, he gonna go out and do him. So he gonna compete and he a competitor. That's one thing I do like about Kuz. He a little, a little wild, you know, a little crazy,
Starting point is 00:05:10 a little, you know, a little out there. Yeah, but he is a competitor so he gonna compete and he won a championship before so
Starting point is 00:05:18 he gonna play hard. Yeah. He definitely gonna play hard and I think that's a good valuable piece for them to pick up. And he versatile. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:24 And Paul, he got size as well yeah he's 6'9 he can make a shot he can guard he can guard he ain't the best defender but he'll compete yeah
Starting point is 00:05:34 I definitely like them like him for them and he's gonna play a lot better than he was playing with the Wizards with the Bucs and he don't give a fuck I'm telling you
Starting point is 00:05:42 like that Giannis shit like he gonna respect Giannis but he ain't gonna give a fuck. I'm telling you, like, that Giannis shit, like, he gonna respect Giannis, but he ain't gonna give a fuck. If I play with Brian. Yeah, if he open, he gonna shoot that motherfucker. If he think he can make a play,
Starting point is 00:05:51 he gonna make the play. He ain't gonna, like, sit back and wait for Giannis and Damian to do everything. He got that I don't care mentality. And he up for a contract, so.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Hey, that's a, man, that is a great pick, bro. Damn, that's solid. I'll fuck with that.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Me and Moe's helping. I'm not mad. Boy, you live in L.A. and D.C. Well, now you talking about his living. Now you want him, bro. Just telling you, my boy. I live in Milwaukee. Bring your wife.
Starting point is 00:06:18 T, send him your realtor. Nah, he don't want to say where I stay. Put Concuso in the studio so he can go get a chip. Hey, you buy D-Bot realtor. You only going gonna be there for six months nah man
Starting point is 00:06:29 he might plant he might plant bro I've been walking in on that they gonna be like you can hoop you can ball your heart out
Starting point is 00:06:35 my boy we are going in a different direction this summer I promise you I love I love Giannis that nigga
Starting point is 00:06:42 ain't gonna fit in that ain't yeah you know better than us he gonna play well he gonna fit in damn yeah you know better than us he gonna play well he gonna walk in with a tunnel fist and y'all just gonna be like whoa hold on
Starting point is 00:06:50 he gonna play well yeah but he going somewhere else damn why you say that for he don't fit the mold he ain't just a catch and shoot player
Starting point is 00:07:03 like he can do other stuff like he can get to the catch and shoot player like he can do other stuff like he can get to the basket he can make plays he can do other stuff and you got to be a three and d guy with yannis you either go look at their team too sure you catch and shoot that's it play defense and catch and shoot that ain't him he do a lot more stuff like look at bobby porter's he became a catch and shoot-shoot player. He get post-up sometimes when Giannis is out. Also, the Bucs have Pat Collinson and potentially Bobby Porter on the trading block as well. Do you see either one of those players get moved?
Starting point is 00:07:35 What are they even looking for? Mm-hmm. I have no clue what they're looking for. Maybe a backup guard? Yeah. A backup scoring guard? Mm. Did he get Patrick Barron Jr.
Starting point is 00:07:46 trying to know how high they are on him on offensive scoring situation? They need another scoring. I know Cam Thomas been hurt, but they need
Starting point is 00:07:53 an explosive scorer off the bench. Somebody that can get you 30. Jordan Clarkson. Somebody that can just come in and go crazy.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Get buckets. For sure. We always say Doc is a six-man whisperer. You think he could help Kuz mold into that role? I know he ain't the prolific
Starting point is 00:08:05 scorer, as the people just said beforehand, but you think he could make him a second-unit player that could give him a lot of contributions in the playoffs? Kuz can get you 15, 16 a night. Easy. But they need somebody that can get you 25 easy on any given night. They need Lou Williams. Wherever they can find Lou at,
Starting point is 00:08:21 whoever your Lou Williams is in the league right now, that's what they need. They need Jordan Clarkson. For sure. So they need to go make a trade for Jordan Clarkson. I love Bobby Portis, but you got Kuz now. Kuz can hit that road for BP.
Starting point is 00:08:36 BP is a four. Kyle Kuzma can play three, four. Most definitely. Now you said that. He's a willing defender, especially capable as well. I wonder how that will work out
Starting point is 00:08:46 because from a defensive standpoint, they need another wing, sizeable wing to help with those guards. You got him and Torian Prince kind of take the load off of Giannis Paul to deal with some of those
Starting point is 00:08:54 upper echelon teams in the East. Yeah, now you can play small ball too. You can move Giannis to the 5. Yeah. You can do that and still have a versatile team that can guard
Starting point is 00:09:04 1 through 5. I mean, you could do that with Bobby Portis, too. Bobby Portis is a little slower at foot than Kuz is. But he gives him opportunities and stuff. Solid, bro. For sure, man. He's solid. Listen, I am very interested to see how this works out.
Starting point is 00:09:16 We got a lot of flack early in the season, but he has made it work. But I think this team could really do something, especially adding a wing like that Kyle Kuzma. I'm interested to see what's next, man. I think that's the first domino to drop today. Speaking of the situation, any other thoughts y'all might have on who might get moved today? I know we've seen a lot of rumors going on. You think we get any more Jimmy moves today?
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah, but I don't know. I'm interested to see. We need to make sure we're close to the studio so when the Jimmy Butler news drop, we can get to it. But damn, Kyle, don't stay across the street from the gym. That's where I stay.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Boy, that shit was a closet. Hey, man, you got a championship out there. Maybe you need to go lock in, man. Go sit in there. Go to room 236. Oh, somebody who literally is pissed if you just
Starting point is 00:10:00 shouted them out. 236. And you can borrow the neighbor Wi-Fi. Somebody don't work hard to get into this36 and you can borrow the neighbor Wi-Fi. Man, somebody don't work hard to get into this apartment and she can treat it
Starting point is 00:10:08 like a trap. It was a trap. Oh, man. $8.50 a month. Damn. Wait, what? It was $8.50. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:19 You paying less. Who is Milwaukee, though? I mean, paying less in the car for a place to stay in Milwaukee, that's crazy, man. It was love. For sure, man. Get well soon. He got up to $950 because I
Starting point is 00:10:27 put that extra $100 on him. Yeah. Shout out to the Wi-Fi bill, man. Listen, man, we expect a lot of these to take place in the next couple days. We will keep you in tune. We're going back to the studio anytime somebody of importance gets traded. So we'll be back soon. 520 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:10:44 The Volume. I know a lot of cops. They get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. This is Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated.
