Hi, I'm Sarah Spain, host of Good Game with Sarah Spain and the co-author of the new book
Starting point is 00:01:35 Runs in the Family, an incredible true story of football, fatherhood and belonging written with and about Las Vegas Raiders running backs coach Dylan McCullough. It's the story of a football coach and father of four who sees his life forever changed by the unsealing of his adoption records. And it's got a twist you won't believe. Based on the viral ESPN story I did a few years ago, this book will blow your mind and bring you to tears. Buy runs in the family wherever books are sold.
Starting point is 00:02:00 The volume. All your favorite street niggas that died had their funeral at are sold. All your favorite street niggas that died had their funeral at Fun and Shit for free. What's your favorite street? Your favorite Trapper. And their wedding. And their wedding. Yes, bro.
Starting point is 00:02:18 The same nigga that got married in here died as this motherfucker too. He didn't die there. I'm just saying when it was time. Mama, no he didn't. Yeah I know. Also real shit, this is RIP. So his brother gonna be mad at me,
Starting point is 00:02:34 but this is a real shit bro. Went to his funeral bro on everything. His wedding picture, you know when you die, your casket, they got all your cool pictures around you. Bro, his picture from his wedding was there. It's sad, that is crazy. It is, I've done stories like this. And my collage, make it better.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Honestly, this is my time. Don't put my wedding picture up here, this is about me. We didn't both go. This is dark, but what do you wanna wear when you get fresh of your casket? Bro, I gotta have to put it on, bro. How wild, bro? How you going? Where will you get fresh in your casket? Bro, I gotta have to put on bro. I gotta have to put on. How y'all doing bro?
Starting point is 00:03:06 How you going? Just put a shirt on me. A t-shirt? Yeah. That's it? No, I'm just going with the pooh. No, I'm talking about bro, just a t-shirt and some jeans, I'm pooh.
Starting point is 00:03:19 Okay. I ain't trying to get fresh. He said keep the bottom up. I didn't want that. So you just bought an Iced Adore shirt up. Dirty breast? Yeah. So at 95, you just want a T-shirt.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I just want a T, bro. I don't want no sweat, bro. Put your word. Because dead people don't sweat, but I know a nigga be hot. Burmese. 95, Burmese. Yeah, Burmese, bro. I'm dead.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I don't give a fuck. No, I don't want nobody to pay all that stuff for no fucking funeral. I agree. All right, bro. It's a waste of money, bro. I'm dead, bro don't give a fuck. No, I don't want nobody to pay all that stuff for no fucking funeral. I agree. It's a waste of money, bro. I'm dead, bro. I don't care. I want my girl to kiss me on the lips, bro.
Starting point is 00:03:52 She not gonna feel it. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna.
Starting point is 00:03:59 She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. She gonna. I'm trying to say buddy, like, I'm nothing, bro. And I'm gonna tell everybody before I die,
Starting point is 00:04:06 I'm spending everything. If I die, I got $7 million left, I sort of got like at 94, I'm going crazy. I'm buying Lambo, I'm buying everything. I ain't leaving nothing for nobody. You gotta get out of here. Do what? If I got some kids, they gonna get here.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Hopefully you still normal at that old. Damn, we gonna leave my 100 bands. 100 bands, bro. My mama didn't give me nothing. See, we try to change the cycle, T. So yeah, he's outta pocket. 94, bro, you better hope you still saying to do that type of stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Oh, if I ain't, I'ma write it down. I want to buy a Lamborghini. Once my fuck got start changing me, go on this, yeah, give me the poison. Yeah, bro, I'm trying to live till I'm 90. I'm gonna do everything in my power. Give me the lean, bro. I'm saying, but what if a motherfucker gotta change you
Starting point is 00:04:53 and pick you up great. You ain't gotta do that. Don't come over here. I mean, how are you gonna function, bro? Pay somebody. Yeah, when I become a nuisance, I ain't gonna be in the family. I don't need my kids, I don't need no cousins,
Starting point is 00:05:04 no nephews, nieces, no. I don't give a damn who it is. I don't want nobody doing that to me, bro. Lifting me up every day, bro, changing my diaper, bro. I wanna beat it, I told you, I want everybody coming to my house. I just wanna talk a bunch of shit to them. Like, boy, you ain't gonna be worth shit.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Look at you. That's Mike. I just wanna sit there and just talk bad to everybody. That's no, that's gonna be Mike at 90. He's gonna be like, he's gonna be like Ghost at the end of Power, at the last episode. He said, you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:30 You always needed me. That's why he ain't gonna be shit. He disrespected everybody. That's why that's where he smoked that nigga. He disrespected everybody. Y'all ever see why I get married? The nigga at the end, the toad at the table. That's Mike at 90.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Damn, now I'm sick. Hey, that's one of the best scenes in movie history. I don't know if y'all seen the Taraji Henson movie on Netflix, please watch it. We'll talk in the next episode. It's crazy. But that's one of the best ISOs in history. He sat at that table in Arabic.
Starting point is 00:05:54 He's all, niggas is snitching on me from my side, bitch. Bet. We gonna have a time tonight. He can't be the clip, nigga. What you gonna wear though? What you wanna put on? I'm gonna be 90. I'm gonna retire my hock shirt.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Oh, you're gonna burn that up. That thing could never give it up, man. Wait, zero, that was zero. Zero, zero V. With a shirt on under it? No. With a headband. Skin gonna be loose as hell.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Look like that nigga been soaking in the bath too. What a dead nigga look like with no shirt on. That nigga probably look crazy. That nigga look like Deadpool underneath that motherfucker in costume, nigga. I wonder why motherfuckers turn gray, nigga. My uncle was gray in the motherfucker. I said, damn, nigga.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I ain't do up like that. My uncle was light skinned, man. God bless his name. My uncle kiddie, I said, damn. That nigga. They said fuck a skinned, man. God bless his name, Uncle Kenny. I said, damn. They said, fuck a bombing fool, nigga. Look at these sweats. Hey, what's wrong with you? Hey, speaking of family shit,
Starting point is 00:06:55 did you see the Davis brothers here all bright after the fight? Somebody got some junk? Yeah, the boxers? Oh yeah. I was like, I said that's some Jeff and Mook shit right there. I know for sure. Oh yeah, we had no fair fights when we were around.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Y'all can cancel Christmas. If you ever think y'all about to fight one of us one on one, you a damn fool. And don't let our friends be there. Oh yeah. But I ain't into no competition no more. No violence, but I thought that was hilarious. He's sitting there, you my brother?
Starting point is 00:07:22 We're gonna see you. Yeah, facts. Did y'all get the chance to check out the B's and Lynch one on one? Unfortunately, I did watch that. Bro. Yeah, it went how we expected. I knew it.
Starting point is 00:07:33 It was too much filing, bro. I watched like 30 seconds, bro. It was, but goddamn, bro. Michael Beasley put on a clinic, bro. When Kyrie Irving says, I would never play him one on one, that is a sign, bro. Bro, he too, he, I would never play him one-on-one, that is a sign, bro. Bro, he too, he can do everything,
Starting point is 00:07:46 he fucking 6'9", 6'10". One of the most gifted basketball players, ISO 101s you've ever seen. Beasley is like that for sure. Yeah, he wanted that. Getting to your spot still, the nigga Fallon, you like that, bro? It's wild.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Insane, but you know what, shout out to everybody who hooped. The undercard stuff was fire as well, too, that I know a lot of people spend like the 10 Gs. I like the next chapter, man. That's dope. That's a prime example that the NBA should adapt some of that. I'm not sure how they're gonna do it, but that would be dope to see.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Cause you'll get some of the stars of people we don't think is all stars or superstars to really show how good they are. If y'all ever got a chance to interview Adam Silver, what kind of stuff do you think y'all talk to me about? About changing the All-Star games like that? It would depend upon if the Patriots win the chip or not. Because if we win, then you know what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:08:26 my question list would change. Okay. I'm gonna start there. Well, I just want to ask you, what made you even start messing with the NBA? Like what, how was your journey just entering the NBA? How do you even sign up for something like that? I probably ask him more about like retired players stuff.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Like how we could do better, even though I know they trying to bridge the gap, like when people retire, like setting up payment plans for them to get to their retirement money. But I was, you know, people get your pension like 55, but niggas retire like 31. So I'll be like, man, I know they got a bridge plan now,
Starting point is 00:09:06 but I was just wondering like what they would do different. Yeah. On the same topic, I'd asked about the Tony Snail situation. That's like something that's very interesting. Somebody was in a unique situation, that close to getting that, especially with his, you know what I'm saying, coming out saying he's autistic
Starting point is 00:09:19 and then trying to take care of his kids with specific health plans. I would really like to see like, what's the plan in motion for that, like you said. You return, a lot of people return at 30, wait until 55, I mean, of course, you don't want somebody gonna be gone, but that's a long gap, that's 22 years.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Yeah. That's a big of a gap. But how do you sign up just to start working with the NBA, bro? What kind of connections you gotta have? I know he got a law background for sure. I'm gonna ask him if he hoops. He tall as hell, I know him.
Starting point is 00:09:44 I'm like, shit, I wonder if he hoops. He tall as hell. I know. I'm like, shit, I wonder if you had a jumper back in the day. I also asked him like, you know, I think for me, I think it should be a rule where like, once you get your second contract, that you like every year, whatever it is, you gotta put a million dollars in a plan.
Starting point is 00:10:02 This will be mine. Like you gotta put a million dollars in that plan, this will be mine. Like you gotta put a million dollars in that plan in an investment portfolio where it can grow over time every year till you retire. So if you retire with six, seven million dollars, you can have six, seven million dollars to last you till you get to your pension. That's far.
Starting point is 00:10:20 I would do that. I mean, even though you got people that can do it for you financially, but I'd rather it be with the NBA, so you know like ain't nobody stealing from you. Cause that's a lot of things that happen to players. They get with financial advisors, they be stealing and doing all type of crazy shit. Which is crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah, you talk about B's, I know B's deal with a lot of backdoor with his finances as well. And they look at shit like Tim Duncan, like Kareem, some of the best players that ever played this sport, got fucking robbed. Yeah. Like obviously they made millions and millions and millions,
Starting point is 00:10:48 but just see the greatest people of all time, they get tricked a little bit too. Yeah, and Swann Walker still buying all them properties and stuff, but that's still a crazy story, bro. Yeah, but I think that'll save a lot of people and it will help a lot of people. Cause you don't even know, like when you playing basketball, you don't notice that you not saying,
Starting point is 00:11:10 if they took it from you, you wouldn't even notice it. How are we gonna take a million? Nobody would care. Okay. Now, especially if you doing it for that. Mo's happy. I think another question I'd ask him, how he feels about the media.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Cause we've been seeing a lot of stuff going on, especially with this final series. I mean, listen, I'm grateful, patience with the chip, but this is lackluster as shit. And I don't even think it has anything to do with the team's plan. It's like the coverage with them transitioning is just been like blah.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Like this don't feel like the finals. I want to ask you about that. Like how do you feel about like now and not having like finals shit like on the- Well that was people were falling and hurting themselves. Cool. I'm understanding if it's for- The finals court. Well that was, people were falling and hurting themselves. Cool, I'm understanding if it's for- The finals court.
Starting point is 00:11:47 They said that the Cal, it's a hazard, I'm fine with that. Y'all be playing fast, don't wanna get hurt. But I see y'all do advertising that you can put that shit, at least for the broadcast, maybe if it's not on a court. Y'all do everything else. The Toronto Raptors had a fucking hologram of them. I said they could do the fake shit. They did a hologram behind the basket,
Starting point is 00:12:02 which was weird to watch, but you can do something, bro. They could put the fake shit down like they was doing. But my biggest thing is like, I told y'all about this series and that's not me hating. The markets are so small. Like even though it's probably the best you could get as far as basketball. Like these two teams mirror each other.
Starting point is 00:12:20 It's a great basketball. If you're a basketball fan, it's a great series to watch. But if you're just an average sports fan, it's awful. Yep. Right, cause the market's just too many. You're not really familiar with anything in Indiana. Nope. You're not familiar with nothing like OKC.
Starting point is 00:12:36 You might know the players, but not really. Like people still look at LeBron to face the league, and he is, but that's what people still look at. Like some people just like basketball because they like the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. They don't know shit else. And don't care. Don't care about nothing else.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So when I seen that it was going to be Indiana OKC, I was like, damn, the ratings are going to be down. But for a basketball purist, this is the best we could get. Even to the broadcast team, like I know they're defensive about Doris Burke. It's just like, shout out to Richard Jefferson. I think Richard Jefferson is dope.
Starting point is 00:13:06 He's funny as shit, but like, we miss the days of Mark Jackson and fucking Coach and Mike Bray, like those, we look for those moments. We don't got that right now. And all you get is a lot of consumers who just bash the product. And then you look across the board from different media. Like y'all not watching these games.
Starting point is 00:13:22 I know everybody don't watch these games, it's impossible. Y'all don't even have the energy to like speak highly of the game. Y'all not watching these games. I know everybody don't watch these games, it's impossible. Y'all don't even have the energy to like speak highly of the game. Y'all just shit on everything. The NBA has changed so much because you don't have stars of stars. Like, I mean, like I said, when you had Kobe, he was like a star of stars.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Like, if you didn't watch basketball, you still knew who Kobe Bryant was. Regardless of like LeBron. If LeBron was in this finals, this would be a whole different story. Cause if you don't watch basketball, you still know LeBron James is. And that's the thing we don't have in this.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Now there's new generation. Yeah, that is. You gotta kind of know. Yeah, you gotta know. Because Kobe then was in movies, TV shows, all kinds of stuff. Yeah, you know what I mean? then was in movies, TV shows, all kind of stuff. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, Bron got space gym, all that shit, whatever.
Starting point is 00:14:08 But like, I was thinking the other day, like, if Tyrese Halliburton, in the basketball world, if he got traded, would it stop everything like when Luka got traded? No. If SGA got traded, you think it would stop everything like when Luka got traded?
Starting point is 00:14:24 Nope. Yeah. Nope. Yeah. You think it would stop everything like when Luka got traded? Nope. Man. Nope. Yeah. You think it would stop? I don't think it would be the same reaction. The people of OKC. That's big.
Starting point is 00:14:34 But think about it though, how many stars have already left OKC? If it was like the first time, bro, they didn't give a fuck really when KD left. Even though he went to the Warriors, everybody was shitting that he went there. It wasn't the fact that he left there.D left. Even though he went to the Warriors, everybody was shitting that he went there. It wasn't the fact that he left there. It was the fact that he went to the Warriors.
Starting point is 00:14:47 That's the up and trade, SGA, bro. That's the MVP. I think it depends on where he go to. Cause I think the Luka trade was so big, not just because he left, but because he went to the Lakers. I think him just getting traded, period. It would have been big. It was ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Like what? Y'all traded him? Yeah. But like you said, that Lakers tax and LeBron, it was just like. That amplified it. Now if SGA went to the Celtics, yeah it would be. You think it would be big?
Starting point is 00:15:11 It would go just as big. I don't know. Here's who they did. Like if it was like SGA for Jason Taylor and Marybeth, I'd be like what the fuck? Yeah, but I don't think it'll be such a, I mean they'd be like, oh, dang, I mean. I see what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:15:24 The tray, they'd probably be like, I mean. This is crazy. Why they did that? Yeah, like, it would still have those NBA world in a chokehold. But when Luka got traded, this thing was like. That was a global affair. Yeah, this was like global.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And I was just wondering would that happen? And maybe that's the feeling we on got in this NBA final, right? Because you look at it now, bro. Everybody's wondering where we on got in this NBA finals. Cause you look at it now, bro. Everybody's wondering where Kevin Durant's about to go. More than this about this final. They look like what Cooper Flagg is about to do. They look like what the Spurs will do with the number two
Starting point is 00:15:51 pick where Giannis might go. It's people more, Victor when Miano went and kicked it with the Monks and shaved his head. Niggas is like, oh, he about to kill next year. Like all the things, the off season, I'm telling you, whoever wins, it don't matter if it's Pacers or OKC. The next week, that shit gonna be off the cycle, bro. They're already summer league with Cool Flag about to do.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Yeah, they kinda shitted on this finals. And it's nasty. As a person who love ball, it's like, damn, man, this is like, this is good shit, but it's just not the right markets. Yeah, it's the pinnacle, bro. Like, this is supposed to be, they treat this shit like All-Star weekend, bro.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I've been there though, because our finals was like that. When it was us, Milwaukee and Phoenix. Yeah. It was the same kind of situation. And that was good, that was good basketball. Yeah, but it was only like, it was only fire to people who watched basketball.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Like it was only good, like, it wasn't lit. He's saying there ain't too many of these dudes walking outside now and everybody going crazy. Hell nah, it wasn't lit. But like, I played with Lynn Sanity, I told y'all, that's how I thought the finals was about to be, like Lensanity. Like when I tell you it was, damn there's 700 cameras
Starting point is 00:16:54 under the room when he was just warming up. That's what I thought when I seen the final, like we were going to go to the finals, like nigga, I'm going to get an endorsement deal just for being on the team. Yeah. That shit was not like that. Nigga, we was walking there, I'm gonna get an endorsement deal just for being on a team. Yeah. That shit was not like that. They was walking up, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:17:06 this feel like regular practice, man. It's a couple more interviews for people. He was damn like Mike though. He was just so popular. Yeah. Ain't nobody been bigger than that. Bro, he had the T-Bone like run bro. Yeah, like nobody's been that big.
Starting point is 00:17:21 That might not ever happen again. And you know what's nasty? That's the reason why I've been complaining about tickets. I know it's the finals, but bro, it feels like a Tuesday game at Gainsbridge, bro. Why am I paying five more times for this, bro? This is crazy. Y'all don't even wanna gas the product enough
Starting point is 00:17:34 for me to feel like I'm getting my money's worth. That's where I agree with you on that. Yeah, like y'all not even amping it. You go watch first state and it's like, oh yeah, that's cool. All right, man, what the Cowboys gonna do? Like, God damn, Mike. When I was talking about man, what the Cowboys will do like, God damn. Talking about when I was talking about Aaron Rogers
Starting point is 00:17:47 more than they was talking about the game. I was like, damn, that's crazy. Disgusting, bro. Honor the game, man. It's a lot of people who give a fuck about the game that y'all don't highlight, man. We got to look into that more for sure. But I do think Katie about to be a spur.
Starting point is 00:17:58 I think that's, if he do that, he gonna, that's gonna fuck up. Katie gonna be a spur and they gonna keep the toothpick and it's gonna go crazy. Oh, yeah, that's gonna fuck up. Katie gonna be a spurn, they gonna keep the toothpick and it's gonna go crazy. Oh, yeah, that's gonna destroy the NBA. It's gonna make it fun though. That's gonna be fire. It's gonna make it fun.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Y'all bring the energy back, bro. Devin Booker is rumored to get an extension for two years. It's over 100 plus. It's looking at possibly like about 120, 125. That's what it should, sit down. I am a, I'm a son for life. Yeah, I love it. I love it. Sit down. I'm a son for life. Yeah, I love that. I seen that the Detroit Pistons
Starting point is 00:18:29 are going after Miles Turner. Yeah, the phone is broke. Stop calling. No it's not. He a free agent. The phone is broke. It ain't, he a free agent. That's what I'm saying bro, it's not.
Starting point is 00:18:39 Kay Cunningham and Miles Turner, I like it. I don't like the energy. After we win the chip, we gonna pay Miles 100 mil for three years. You already said we won the luxury. Y'all have to pay him regardless. No, that ain't gonna be enough money if y'all won the chip.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Miles. 100 million for three years, that ain't gonna be enough, boy. Miles, you don't even like Coney dogs like that, bro. You know how Tony goes to eat his food, bro. It's the same place. We can get you some buffs here, my nigga. Detroit and Indianapolis is the same.
Starting point is 00:19:00 No, not the real ones. Why you got the real ones? He here? We can make it happen. Nah, bro. Them fake. Not the real ones. Mike got the real ones, he here. We can make it happen. Nah, bro. Them fake. The T-MU busts? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Yeah. These technically ain't busts because of the guy. See, I told you. I ain't go to see that. What they, Versace, what is that? I mean, not as still Cartier, but it's just the Buffalo. It's cool. Talk your shit.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Hey, talk your shit, Mike. Tmoo.com, $31. Respect. Shmoo.com, $31. Respect, yep. Now, but. Shipping included. If he go there though, it's the same type of weather. Oh, it's the same shit. But if he get a four year deal.
Starting point is 00:19:34 They gotta, payers have to pay. For 125, four years, 125 for Miles? Yeah. Come on, bro, we got some, you know what I'm sayin', we got some, you gonna have some development here. Give Miles Turner 150 million, bro. You are fucking up our salary cap. No, give him 150 or let him go be happy.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Honestly, if we win the chip and you go get 150, I'm not mad, bro. It's time for him to cash in, bro. It is time, bro. It's time to cash in. 150 right now, he is deserving of that, bro. He's about to get 30, it's time to cash in. Y'all trying to stress me out, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:02 I'm trying to win the chip and be happy. Y'all trying to tell me that I got half. Thomas Bryan is my starting five next year bro. Chip or not bro, chip or not. Y'all gotta pay miles bro. Chip or not, you're out of pocket. If he going to Detroit, Jalen Durant better be a Pacer, that's all I'm gonna say. I don't even like this talk,
Starting point is 00:20:15 but if he's going to Detroit, then Jalen Durant has to be Pacer bro. Thomas Bryan you the new starter. Hey my nigga Thomas Bryan, corner three specialist bro. I will not speak no more to that man's name. They gonna sign Thomas Bryant to a three year Twitter. Thomas Bryant, get your three year 25. He can get the three years 12 in Detroit.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I love that. Him and Isaiah Stewart would be grade fives with that team. Nah, bro. Myles going to Detroit. Nah, Myles ain't going to work, man. That would be fire though. Why wouldn't y'all give him 150, DJ? Like, where is the beef?
Starting point is 00:20:45 Three, 150? Did you see what we pay? For four years? Did you see what we pay everybody else in our team? Aaron Neesmith is a guy's gift, bro. We pay him about 15 a year. 11. 11, yeah, Nim Hart is what?
Starting point is 00:20:55 18, 19? And they're both locked in for the next three years. Two. No, his contract kicked in next year. Yeah, okay. But he signed a very team friendly deal. I think it's like 16. Yeah, it's very, very affordable.
Starting point is 00:21:07 My nigga Obadiah took, you know what I'm saying, a nice little cut to stay with the gang. Bro, we can't pay you more than Tyrese or Pascal. He ain't paying me more than Tyrese. Tyrese is 200. Yeah, but 150 is tough, bro. He gonna get like 125 though. He deserved it though, on me, he deserved it.
Starting point is 00:21:24 You put a banner up, bro, you've been the consummate professional, all the shit you had to deal with, and put some money on your name. When we had you and some bonus together, knowing y'all didn't like each other, he deserved to get paid for sure. He 100 mil for sure.
Starting point is 00:21:35 You've been a great teammate, great locker room guy. Yeah, bro, held down the franchise. Y'all had him in trade rumors every day. Literally, bro, I remember going into that practice room, I was like, I fuck with my own. That's when I really started tapping in with my own. I said, bro, they put you on a trading block every year, bro, bro. I remember going into that practice room, and I'm like, I fuck with Miles. That's when I really started tapping in with Miles. I said, bro, they put you on a trading block every year, bro. And it's not your fault.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Yes, bro. Oh man, what y'all want me to do now? Maybe my money. But a nigga, Nate Bjorkin said, yeah, we don't really need Miles Turner. That's just a, yeah, get this nigga's fuck out of here. He got fired in year one. He started wilding, bro.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Yeah, I remember y'all did have that coach. Yeah, Nate Bjorkin, bro, he fucked everything up, bro. That's the only reason why Vic got the slander he got. People don't know that' bro. Yeah, I remember y'all did have that coach. Yeah, Nate Bjorkin bro, he fucked everything up bro. That's the only reason why Vic got the slander he got. People don't know that bro, they was dealing with a psychopath. Coach Bill left, he fucked up everything in the organization bro. Oh, Billy Bano?
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah bro. That's why he called me the other day. I can't talk about that on camera, but that's the reason why Bill Bano left bro, cause Bjorkin was on some fuck shit. Bill Bano, he called me. One of the best defensive coaches in the NBA, bro, as an assistant, bro, fucking it up. Hold on, no, not Billy.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Hold on, you talking about Dan Burke. Burke was gone, yeah. Oh, that's my nigga, that's my nigga. Both of them. But Bill Bano left too. Bill Bano was a great trucker. But Bano called me. He's a crazy motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:22:40 He's silent. I'll fuck with him. Bro, he's in Miami wild. Shout out to Billy Bano, man. He's a wild boy, man. silent. I'll fuck with him. Bro, he's in Miami wild. Shout out to Billy Bay though, man. Hey, he's a wild boy, man. He be saying to me, clips on the podcast, like look at this shit. Like, hey, he's a wild boy, boy. I know we got to get out here,
Starting point is 00:22:53 but you see that the Tiz firing came straight from up top. Dolan said, no, no, no, no, Leon. Watch out. This nigga the fuck out here. Damn, that was all Dolan? Yeah, that was a Dolan car. They said, Dolan said, I'm not talking to nobody about this. Cause you know you can't fire a coach without your OE.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah. Yeah, he, Dolan said, no. Damn, I heard the other players were like, some of the players today weren't going to play for him. And that's crazy, bro. Like bro, he didn't play y'all a thousand minutes, bro. I've never complained about being in the game. At least you going to get paid fucking with Tibbs.
Starting point is 00:23:23 That's what I always say. Gonna give you a chance. Wow, man, I wish I woulda caught Tibbs when I was like 26, 27. Yeah. Well. Shoulda been different. What, you gonna play 40 minutes a game?
Starting point is 00:23:33 You gonna get some stats, boy. Yeah. If you look at the tree of contracts paid from Tibbs, bro, I better not see no smut on Tibbs' name, bro. Oh, you can't say nothing wrong with Tibbs with me. Tibbs changed my life. Nah, facts. But I see though why, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:50 some players just can't adapt to that though, bro. But y'all was saying you need to switch it up, you know what I mean? So they probably feel like how, you know, how y'all felt about it. Tibbs just needed an offensive coordinator. That's all. Come be a defensive coordinator for us, bro.
Starting point is 00:24:04 We love you. All I need is an offensive coordinator. You and Rick Carlis be a defensive coordinator for us, bro. We love you. All I need is an offensive coordinator. You and Rick Carlisle, bro, y'all will create havoc. I don't see him sitting down. Tiz, bro, you got 30 men coming to you, man. Relax, man, I'ma call you. You can be like, Jeff, you're a fucking guy and you talking about me on that fucking show.
Starting point is 00:24:20 I fuck with Tiz, man. They were just like, we don't want Jalen Brunson to get hurt like he wrote. That's a lot of people saying, like, we don't want him to run JB into the ground. I'm like, man, which y'alliz, man. They were just like, we don't want Jalen Brunson to get hurt like he wrote. That's why people say, we don't want him to run JB into the ground. I'm like, man, which I won't, man. Y'all think they gonna keep OJ Rick on the staff, man? Y'all been seeing a lot of them,
Starting point is 00:24:33 they said he had a too big of a voice in the locker room. I'm like, yeah, he's the best player of that. He's supposed to have poppy shit. That's interesting. I don't know. I don't, you know, they're my guys. I ain't gonna- Mobbed Tiz're my guys. So I ain't gonna. Bob Toss for sure.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Yeah, I ain't gonna do that. But I hope he's still around. I ain't never try to get nobody. I'd love to see him on the stand. Or if he ain't shit, go somewhere immediately. And take Jalen with you. And keep him. And take Jalen with you.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Yeah, I'm gonna play you. All right, now Jalen, go ahead and pull your ring, bro. Don't even start to coach your son though. Yes, bro. In the NBA. I hate daddy ball, like with just amateur shit, but like in the NBA, to watch your son put on a performance like that every day.
Starting point is 00:25:09 I got it, we gotta interview Rick. I'm gonna wait till all this shit die down, I'm gonna call Rick and just be like, we need to talk to you. I have to talk to him about that video too. Oh yeah. Yeah, we have to talk about the video. We need OG on the show.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Hey, CJ Miles, out of message, tap in brody. You know what time it is, we gonna see you this week. CJ's coming on the show. Yeah, he texted me. He told me he was gonna come on the show. He put up, I mean, he hot ass on the Twitter streets. Also, I was in Spaces with Joe today. Shout out to my dog, Budden.
Starting point is 00:25:32 He said he ready to be here. He said he been in the gym. You know what I'm saying? He ain't smoking no more. He said he ready, you know what I'm saying, for this one. What's up? He trying to be sober now.
Starting point is 00:25:42 He smoked a lot of shit. It's probably still in him. Told you I wouldn't leave you. I told you I wouldn't leave you. So I'm good. I'm good. The B headbutt was his own away for sure, man. That is hilarious.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I'm gonna kick his ass, bro. I can't wait till we go to New York so we can set that up though. Oh yeah, we wanna go to New York soon, though. Yeah, I think we can set up a month for him. What's we're trying to do? Oh, yeah. Jadakiss want to work out too. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:13 Jadakiss said he wanted to put you out to the workout. Jadakiss. I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that. You can do it most of now. You've been working out for four months now. I know I can do it a little bit, but no. I'll work out with him.
Starting point is 00:26:22 I'll work out with him. I'll work out with him. I'll work out with him. I'll work out with him. I'll work out with him. I'll work out with him. We can do it most up. A lot of times the big economic forces we hear about on the news show up in our lives in small ways. Three or four days a week I would buy two cups of banana pudding, but the price has gone up so now I only buy one. The demand curve in action and that's just one of the things we'll be covering on everybody's
Starting point is 00:29:19 business from Bloomberg Business Week. I'm Max Chafkin. And I'm Stacey Vanek-Smith. I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. Across the country, cops call this Taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it was
Starting point is 00:30:20 that simple. Cops believed everything that Taser told them. From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley comes a story about what happened when a multi-billion dollar company dedicated itself to one visionary mission. This is Absolute Season 1, Taser Inc. I get right back there and it's bad. It's really, really, really bad. Listen to new episodes of Absolute Season One, Taser Incorporated on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Starting point is 00:31:14 In a very big way. Real people, real perspectives. This is kind of star-studded a little bit, man. We got Ricky Williams, NFL player, Heisman Trophy winner. It's just a compassionate choice to allow players all reasonable means to care for themselves. Music stars Marcus King, John Osborne from Brothers Osborne. We have this misunderstanding
Starting point is 00:31:35 of what this quote unquote drug thing is. Benny the Butcher. Brent Smith from Shinedown. Got B-Real from Cypress Hill. NHL enforcer Riley Cote. Marine Corvette, MMA fighter Liz Caramouche. What we're doing now isn't working and we need to change things.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Stories matter and it brings a face to them. It makes it real. It really does. It makes it real. Listen to new episodes of the War on Drugs podcast season two on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. And to hear episodes one week early and ad free with exclusive content, subscribe to lava for good plus on Apple podcast. This man over here, B.
Starting point is 00:32:21 He was very early on the OKC train, very early on the shape prize for sure, man. He is right to cheer for this team, man. Thank God, that's why I love that joke you just told, because we wanted the same, but. That's what, you're on the two, two, two, two, one thing. I got you. Facts, so I was starting to become a fan, like, yeah, when he was at Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:32:41 but when I started seeing him, and what it means with LA. Yeah, I started seeing him change and shit, and I always told him, like, he had when he was at Kentucky, but when I started seeing him, and what the news was, LA. Yeah, I started seeing him change and shit, and I always told him, he had basketball hair for real. Of course he played it, but you know what I mean? Once he got to OKC, I was like, I felt like that was like the James Harden leave at OKC. Like I felt like he was gonna change for the Frenchos. That was a changing moment in his life, obviously.
Starting point is 00:32:59 When we first happened in the summer, I think we were at summer league, and it was like, bam, because he obviously had a good rookie year, you know what I mean? You're in LA, you're ages in LA, you're settled, you know, you're living there, it's LA, it's hot, and bam, OKC. And I obviously had first like, damn, but then I'm telling you about 29 seconds later, I was like, Shay, we're both in OKC, in Vegas together. Like, yo, this is it. This is the TSN turning point. This is where your life is going to start to move.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Because, yeah, you're doing well in LA. And yeah, Doc's playing you. And you're starting at one point in the career. They weren't really letting you go. You had Patrick Beverly bringing up the ball. You had Lewin bringing up the ball. You had Avery Bradley bringing up the ball. None of those guys ain't point guards.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Coming out of Kentucky, he was a real point guard. The ball on his hands. So I don't see how you come from that to come and bring up the ball and go run to the corner and shoot three to be a three and D. No, motherfucker. Now it's time for you to really be who you are. When you got to OKC now, still playing behind Chris Paul. I remember Chris Paul was still there.
Starting point is 00:33:53 So they played like a staggered one, like a combo one a little bit. And that time, if you remember, I don't know if you guys remember, people still wonder is he a real one? Isn't he a two? I don't know if you remember that. They were kind of saying, is this guy a two? Is he a combo? And people weren't really sure because he was, like I said, kind of playing comboish in LA.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Second year, he was a combo behind Chris Ball, but he learned obviously a lot off of Chris Ball. A lot of shit. So now Chris Ball's gone the second year, and that's when you really see the real Shea. But I knew that, no disrespect, from day one, because that's what he was all his life. A point guard with the balls in, making decisions. It's not just his scoring. Shea's the type of you that's really going to read and react.
Starting point is 00:34:26 He's not going to, that's why they say you can't speed him up and stuff like that. But it's because of the read the games will install them for really, he's really not making up his mind to do anything. I'm going to see what the defense does. Yeah, man, I'm going to read it. I know you know that as a point guard, read it and react and put your crap, dribble you.
Starting point is 00:34:39 I mean, like the best do that. Know what I'm saying? And a lot of guys that get sped up because they're making up their minds saying, I'm going to Euro step in from now. Like you can't decide to fucking Euro step in to listen. You don't bite on your fucking, and then you say, okay, I'm doing that.
Starting point is 00:34:52 If you ever hear a shade talking about it, I heard him say it a couple of times, he's like, and that's what I know, he really is on what I'm on. Where it's like he said, the thing that makes me the best is I don't know what I'm gonna do. And you know what that means.
Starting point is 00:35:01 You're just really reacting, I can do anything, but I'm gonna wait to see what you do, then I know what I have to do. You know what I means, you're just really reacting. I can do anything, but I'm gonna wait to see what you do then I know what I have to do. You know what I'm saying? Simple. Yeah, I think that's why it makes it so easy for him to score in the NBA, because he's like the smooth, we talk about it all the time, he's literally the smoothest.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Smoothest scorer in the whole league. He don't even look out his sweat when he out there hooping, man. Effortless. Yeah, he's acting like he's too cool for school, yeah. I know that, I know all about that. Motherfucker, he's the for school. I know that. I know all about that. Motherfucker, he's the coolest motherfucker. I know that.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Do you think, like, everybody was, like, preaching, shooting threes when he first got in the league. I know I'm sure people still talk about him shooting threes. Do you think Chris Paul coming to that team and, like, him shooting that mid-range like that helped, Shay? Like... 100%. 100%. Chris Paul, same thing I'm talking about the crab dribble.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Even though, I know you guys are probably touching, even the free-trill merchant thing. If you remember Chris Paul is the type of guy that gets in the lane. You reach out your hand to him and he'll go up into you. But he would more, no disrespect, do that more than Shay. Shay's not really free-trill merchant drawing foul. He's using angles and change of pace. I'm going to up fake and you get in the air, you're done. We all know that. What the fuck you doing in the air?
Starting point is 00:36:04 Once you go up, I'm gonna go up and you're coming down on top of me. Am I drawing a foul? Well, yes, because the fucking rules of the game have fouls in them, guys. You don't want me to draw no fouls. Just changing rules. All the fouls of the game
Starting point is 00:36:14 and we'll play fucking football basketball. Don't poop. We can do that too. Just don't call no fouls on me and I'll clothesline you. And if you fucking clothesline me, back on ducking. I don't see who wins. there's rules to this motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:36:27 You can't just foul foul people, right? So he's not a free throw merchant, he's actually just changing pace. He's gonna change the pace, stop me, you're gonna blow with me, you're gonna catch me in the air angle. It's angles, it's changing pace, it's changing direction. It's brains.
Starting point is 00:36:39 No, I understand it, but I know fans don't like it because when you got that much creativity, I can make you foul me at any point. At any point I can make you foul me. When people got that much creativity. You gotta be disciplined on defense. Not to coach you big man, but you gotta be disciplined on defense. Yeah. Because I remember I'm doing the same thing. That's why I tell people all the time. If I'm that guy that's making you foul me. I fiction Michael. Sorry. No, you do it.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Sorry, drawing you into those into those into those spots where you gotta foul me. Yeah. On defense, I'm not allowing you Michael. Sorry. Sorry, drawing you into those spots where you gotta foul me. On defense, I'm not allowing you to do that. You get what I'm saying? So it's on you now to stop fouling, motherfucker. You need to use a free throw, just play defense the right way and don't foul me, bro. Don't foul me, because that's good defense. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:37:18 That's it. Same thing, James Harden. Why didn't you a part of that to your game? I did, I used to go to the free throw line a lot. Okay. I did all that stopping behind the screen and letting people run into me shooting. Throw your butt out.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Yeah, rip through hands. I did that, that's how I guaranteed I was gonna have eight points again. Like, I swear, I knew that. That's guaranteed fucking money. When I was a guarantee eight after that. And then at the end of the game, you know if it's a close game, they foul,
Starting point is 00:37:43 I should run and get the ball and just hold it. Give me a foul, I'll try and get extra points. Right? It's part of the game. So, three, two, three, four points at the end of the game. Man. We in the bonus. Nah, I already know.
Starting point is 00:37:53 I think it's genius what he'd do. I wish more people would do that, but. Yeah. They try to take it out the game for my guy Trey Young. Trey Young used to do it, but. Yeah. They took that out the game a little bit. But KD and them used to all do it,
Starting point is 00:38:03 the rip through three, get free throws. And like I said, man, you just can't get caught with your hand in the cookie jar. All right, let's just say it is a little bit of a free throw drawing thing. Once you realize, I tell my kids that, adapt the way they're calling the game. So eventually you don't do that no more. You gotta fucking, you know when a man comes down,
Starting point is 00:38:17 you keep your hands, sorry, you keep your hands big. Right? You don't, once you do that, it's going to be a foul when it's not a foul. You know what I'm saying? But if you discipline yourself to keep it, not go down and reach and all these things, it's going to be a foul all when it's not a foul. You know what I'm saying? But if you discipline yourself to keep it, not go down and reach and all these things, there's no foul call.
Starting point is 00:38:28 There ain't calling fouls that aren't there, is what I'm trying to say. You're actually calling fouls that actually happen, so stop fucking fouling them. Kissing off at this beach on Merchant Street. Take that Doris Burke. Nah, for sure. Outside of, you know, nephew and your son,
Starting point is 00:38:45 who's some other player that you like in NBA? Cade Cunningham. Some young guys coming up. Kay Dameron got that slogan too. Ant-Man's my guy, fuck with him every. Shout out to AE. What's all that coming up? Some young killers.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Dork. Fuck with Dork because it's the way he just plays every last play that is left. You don't got that, you don't got that motor and that energy, like a lot of kids could use that and just have a career. Yeah. If they're not, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:39:20 I fuck with KD. I like how he's his whole career, you know what I mean? Different things obviously, you know, different parts of everybody's game that, you know, you're picking you like, but you know, I like those, those are the most guys that I think right now playing. I don't have a deep bag because of guys
Starting point is 00:39:38 that I can pick out of my head right now because I'm also focused on Nikhil and Shay. Absolutely. All I can think about is Nikhil, Nikhil's my favorite player, so is Shay. So DJ think Lou Dortz a hack, man. No, Lou Dortz one of the best fans in NBA, but right now, man, I'm hated right now.
Starting point is 00:39:53 If I wasn't going to get shot, I'd show love, but I got to hate right now, man. You know what I'm saying? Shout out to the Thunder, but Lou Dortz and Caruso be causing havoc, and I am tired of seeing them. I cannot wait till this series is over, man. I get it, bro.
Starting point is 00:40:03 I get it, bro. Those guys are fucking pestilence in people's lives, bro. They be locking up. They blitz everything. I love that shit because I always taught, like it's so funny, even when the killer shader was going up, I was more big on defense.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Anybody that knows us when we were younger, I was always like, move your feet. It's that, no answer. So like, it's crazy. I was there. They're always offensively good, but defense is a thing. Cause you know, everybody wants to play offense. The one thing that people don't do is play defense.
Starting point is 00:40:28 They don't rebound. So I was always being on those things. Do what people don't want to do. To get what people don't have, you have to do what people don't fucking do. So you're gonna be a chief, you're gonna play defense better than everybody, you're gonna move your feet,
Starting point is 00:40:37 and you're actually gonna rebound. You're gonna rebound the ball. When you see the ball go up, you're not gonna look at the ball, you're gonna look at your man, go like this. When the ball goes up, you don't look at the rim. You find your man, box the fuck out. Those two things, like I think right now,
Starting point is 00:40:50 a kid can get to the league, after 14 points in the game, it's not that crazy hard, even though it is, if he made up his mind to do it, like how Rodman and those motherfuckers do. You know what I'm saying? It's an action career out there, that's like a spot in the NBA, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:41:03 Just like defense, go play defense sick as fuck. You can get there. Cause everybody can hit a fucking jump shot from the corner three and so you can always be at three in D if you just play sick D. You get what I'm saying? Like that's a fact. You get paid.
Starting point is 00:41:17 You can't show. Everybody wants to be fucking Duncan and Ant-Man stuff and I get it, it's fucking sick. But that whole flash is just for the flash. It's like a life, you know what I mean? It's like the glitter in the gold sometimes. Fuck all that shit. Do the grimy shit, the lunchbox shit.
Starting point is 00:41:32 That shit pays too. Man, we just watched Mitchell Robinson have a research on his career off rebounder. Then scored a ball, rebound, passed it out. He's about to get paid. He need to make a free throw. They hacking him, it don't matter. We sending him to the game because you get extra possessions.
Starting point is 00:41:46 There you go. I mean, I look at him, he's just probably like, you're not going to look at him as this guy that you got to find like a diamond in the rough, but it's someone that that's his, he made that his niche. And if you do that, I just think it's so obvious, but I guess sometimes I see things that people don't see. I mean, I just look at it like,
Starting point is 00:42:03 bro, if I was going to make it you right now, I'm going to turn him into a wickedest rebounder. I can teach him everything else after that. You know what I'm saying? Because you will get better at everything else. You know what I'm saying? But if I make you like 14 rebounds a game, I'm going to obviously,
Starting point is 00:42:15 your free throw shoot is going to be good. Obviously you're going to be hitting a 15 foot jump shot. I'm going to get you left, right, finish at the rim. I'm going to get you the drop step, turn, spin. You know what I'm saying? I'm going to get you that eventually. But if you can give me 14 rebounds, that's all you can do right now.
Starting point is 00:42:26 I'll work with that. And then what's his ceiling, bro? That's an all-star system. I gotta ask you this question, obviously. OJU Pops, you seen him growing up as they progressed their game. At one point, did that stop playing one-on-one? Oh, for sure, a long time.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Okay. One point, so a long time ago, a long time ago. At one point, he caught you, he was just like, okay, I gotta leave this long. A long time ago, a long time ago. At one point, he caught you, he was just like, OK, I got to leave this alone. But I'm not going to lie. I took him on one day and he had a summer camp and I took him on the other day. I'm not going to lie, but it was like a little friendly thing.
Starting point is 00:42:53 You know, there's some footage of that, but ain't nobody going to see that. Ain't nobody going to see that. I think I fucking have the guy tied up right now. He's tied up in the basement. We got to have the footage. Nobody's seen that. But yeah, because I'm going to tell you what happened. So I can at least tell you what happened. It wasn't's tied up in the basement, you gotta have the footage. Nobody's seen that. But yeah, cause I'm gonna tell you what happened,
Starting point is 00:43:06 so I can at least tell you what happened. It wasn't good, like he made a move and it kind of fell. So that's, ooh. Oh, yeah, you got to keep that. You know that, I gotta leave it right here. Like LeBron, delete the kit, delete the camera, videos. Before, like I said, I'm big on defense.
Starting point is 00:43:18 One time I ripped him, and the other time he went up and I almost blocked a shot. But you see after that, he hit like nine shots in a row. And then after that, it was just like downhill for me. And that was recent, that was recent, but that doesn't count too because now I'm done. If you go back like about when they were like 13, 14, that was the first time.
Starting point is 00:43:36 You actually went the first time, you bust my ass and said, I said, I'm done, but 14. That was again, it was endurance. Cause I can still play, but I couldn't keep up. I could do two minutes minutes wheezing bro. You know what I'm saying? A lot of stuff in my chest. You get what I mean?
Starting point is 00:43:49 Did you ever play Koshy 101? Yeah, I beat him like I was like 14. Okay, is that the last time y'all played too? I quit, I never played him again. That's crazy. He put me on punishment. Cause I wouldn't play him again. He was like, all right, you don't wanna play me,
Starting point is 00:44:04 you can't go outside. I was like, all right, you don't want to play me, you can't go outside. I don't care. I was up for a month, bro. I'm not going to play you no more. He was going to post me up. That's crazy, bro. I used to bang them still. It's real, man.
Starting point is 00:44:19 I remember those days and I used to just fling them around. Those days changed real quick. Like I said, that day when he crossed me up and I fell, I could see him saying, well, I'll see them for when I want them. You know what I mean? He was giving me back all those days when I used to bat them up.
Starting point is 00:44:33 You know what I mean? I fell. And you know, he the master, the catcher's on IG. He gonna fry that up with a crazy lyric underneath it. Yeah. No, no, that's not coming out. No, for sure. Fully archived.
Starting point is 00:44:44 We always talk about the, you know, so our goal is we grew up playing basketball outside and now you got all these kids with professional trainers and stuff like that. Obviously coming from you, somebody who has put kids in the NBA, how do you feel nowadays when you see so many kids who go through like basically like mechanical workouts,
Starting point is 00:44:58 everybody has a trainer, like what's missing? The kids need to go outside and play basketball, they just need to be born fives, or what do you think the kids are probably work on to make their games better to some of the output we're seeing right now? There's a couple of things like back to kind of what I said with the just finding the niche that nobody ain't doing. I mean, like if you're trying to get really get into on a make a team even.
Starting point is 00:45:18 I'm talking about the NBA. They start off just trying to make a team or rebound. You're the best on the team. The coach might put you on the team. You're the best defender on that team. Coach might need you like a lot of times. There's been time when you need the coach needs to win a team or rebound. You're the best rebounder on the team. The coach might put you on the team. You're the best defender on that team. Coach might need you. Like a lot of times there's been time when you need the coach needs to win a game and the coach is on this
Starting point is 00:45:29 political shit and playing his son. Now the game's closing and he needs to win. You see him, Johnny go because Donnie can lock down the best scorer. And he hasn't played Johnny all game because Johnny can't score. But now he needs someone to stop this guy. He's faking it in Johnny.
Starting point is 00:45:41 So just be those things that people aren't number one. That was the first thing. And then a lot of the grassroots stuff, the fundamental stuff, I think people are trying to, like I said, they're going to the gym shooting a bag of threes, trying to dunk. And that's not what you work on when you go to the gym.
Starting point is 00:45:54 I think you work on like, you know, form shooting, your handles, footwork, you know, endurance. Like a lot of stuff, it sounds a little corny cliche, but that's how we grew up. That's how our stuff was, I think it just works. That's why she killed their throwbacks. If people say that, and I think they are, the way they play.
Starting point is 00:46:10 She's not truly, yeah, you can dunk over, you can dunk, but you probably won't see like an Ant-Man highline with Shea. You're not gonna probably see Shea dunk over four men, ah, which he probably has after this is in two. You know what I'm saying? But it's a different style of game, right? So you'll see one dunk every six months,
Starting point is 00:46:24 two every six months, but you're gonna see like fucking every game up and under, you know what I'm saying? But it's a different style of game, right? So you'll see one dunk every six months, two every six months, but you're gonna see like fucking every game are up and under, you know what I mean? Below the rim shit. I think that's just old school. And that's the difference in the fundamental training of the game now, which is why you see a lot of the Europeans and the first team,
Starting point is 00:46:39 all NBA last two years just do the math. It's not a lot of Americans know the respect to the Americans, but I think the game is getting a little bit fundamental away from it's more bigger, faster, stronger. It's not fucked that go back to skill. And fundamental training. And that's what the guys in Europe and France and all those other Canada, because we're humbled with this. We're happy to fucking just be in the room with them because a lot of the American side now it's like we're here and we're a little bit entitled to be here and it's our game. And you know what I mean? So we're already in we're a little bit entitled to be here and it's our game and you know
Starting point is 00:47:05 I mean so we're already in the room and no you gotta fucking do more right now because the game is catching up with you guys. You can be mad at me you just let's just do the facts about it. Let's just do the math and see if I'm wrong. Most definitely we talk about all the kids all the time. You got Don Chich and you got Peta Kumpod and you got what was it next, the friends, Wimby Yammer, Killer, then you got Shady. Careful, guys, I don't know. It's trending that way. I don't know if you guys wanna see us in 2020 or anything. Canada's gonna be ready in 2020.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Y'all think y'all gonna beat the US? Well, I said we're ready to go. I don't know. I don't know. Y'all got a whip too? Y'all got my boy Nimby? They got Jamal. They got New Hard. They got Wig. It's gonna be got my boy Nimby. They got Jamal. They got Newhart.
Starting point is 00:47:45 They got Wig. It's gonna be different from 2020. Nikhil. They got Wig. They don't got no Bigs. They don't got no Bigs. It's a big statement right now. But y'all gonna be a force.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Just know we're coming, you know what I mean? So we didn't medal this one. Okay, I'll say for sure we're medaling. Yeah, okay. Y'all gonna medal. Y'all guard play crazy. Good guard. 1000%.
Starting point is 00:48:04 They get wicked. It's gonna come down to our bigs. You see how Zach Eady? Zach Eady develops, I think he'll develop. Then you guys will be back. Ah, it's Christmas. Zach Eady ain't gonna be able to come out the game, Pops. Yeah, he can't.
Starting point is 00:48:14 He's gonna have to play all 40. TM's gonna have to come out. TM's gonna have to come out. We gotta do some, a little bit of wishful thinking too. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:48:40 I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I was the first person. Nah, he wasn't the first one. That made it to the pros, that was real like, how ranked? From Canada? Yeah. Yeah. What do you mean ranking?
Starting point is 00:48:52 Yeah, like I'm talking about like a buzz for real. For sure, for sure. Yeah, Drew Wiggs was the first one. He was another one I'm talking about, predicted from either about 16, 17 to be the number one pick, and he actually ended up being the number one pick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:02 So you can say that for sure. Nah. Wiggs, my boy, Wiggs. Shout out to Wig, man. That's my guy. That's my guy. That's his guy. What you mean, Wig?
Starting point is 00:49:08 What you mean? Big up the T-Dot. Yeah. Big up the T-Dot niggas. What kind of, I wanna know about the music culture out there in Canada, man. What y'all rockin' to, man? In clubs or just barbecues, anything?
Starting point is 00:49:19 It's kind of mixed up. It's multicultural, you know? Me personally, I deal with my, I like my rap from back in the day, my reggae, stuff like multicultural. Me personally, I deal with my, I like my rap from back in the day, my reggae, stuff like that. So I'm mixed on both sides, but you can get whatever you want. But it's a lot of, it's like New York.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I like how New York would be, but we're a little bit more Caribbean oriented too. We got the Jamaicans and the Antiguan, and the Fittadattians and the Guyanese. We got the, you know what I mean? Cause like I said, you guys might be born over here and your grandmother or your grandfather would probably be born over here in America too.
Starting point is 00:49:48 You'll never find a black guy that's told you his grandmother was born in Canada. You saw a black guy in Canada, his mother was born in some, his grandparents are born in some Caribbean island. You get what I'm saying? There's no second, fourth generation Canadian black people. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:50:02 But you guys got fourth, fifth, sixth generation black people over here. You know what I'm saying? See you guys got fourth, fifth, sixth generation black people over here. You know what I'm saying? See the difference? That's what we have that little Caribbean mix. People say I talk like this, I talk like that. I just talk like how we talk. It's a Canadian thing.
Starting point is 00:50:13 You see what I mean? Yeah, I see, I see. No, I know. I don't sell her. I don't sell her. We trying to, I've never been over there. I'm trying to get over there. And I just want to make sure I'm seasoned
Starting point is 00:50:23 before I get over there. Oh, you're good, man. You can roll with me, you're all right. For sure, for sure. I like this nigga. I like this nigga, Belize. More than good, man. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Okay, cool, cool. Yeah, I've been to Canada quite a few times. Toronto to be exact. Yeah, he was blessed. One of my favorite cities. I know you know Toronto. I know you know it's good. Toronto's a great city.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Wonderful city. Oh man. That's what's up. So's a great city. Wonderful city. Oh man. That's what's up. So we already up 2-1, man. What do you think we need to do to finish this series out? Man, like I said, everybody do their job. It's not even the rocket science here.
Starting point is 00:50:57 Don't do your job. What is it? Just do what you normally do, bro. I might actually do anything more. Nothing outrageous. Now what scares you about the Pacers, though? That you what you normally do, bro. I'm not actually do anything more. Nothing outrageous, right? Now what scares you about the Pacers, though? You can't play around with them. You can't just say, you know, you'll get up by 15
Starting point is 00:51:11 and they're gonna come back. You always have to step in their neck, bro. When you get them down, it's literally just on the hold in there. Or I'll sort of wiggle out and try to do something like that, so many heroic shit. That's not where we're on. So last game we did it okay,
Starting point is 00:51:23 but I didn't like how last game that we won the first half, we kind of didn't win the second, because we were up by 19 or 20 at halftime, we were up by 17, that means we didn't win the second half. So I'm trying to win every quarter, that's my thing. For sure. How did you feel after the game one? Because I mean, that 20 point, they was up 20.
Starting point is 00:51:39 And for Tyrese to hit that shot, watching on TV like the air went out the gym. You want to bring back my stomach and stuff. Like you know, I can see what he's saying, he's all smiling to you. for Tyrese to hit that shot. Watching on TV, like the air went out the gym. I wanna bring back my stomach and chest. Like you know, I can see what he's saying. He's all smiling to you. Smiling, he's like a real Indiana. He just said he was gonna take my wife, bitch.
Starting point is 00:51:51 I'm like an Indiana? Like an Indiana nigga. He's like, oh, so I just, so how you feeling? I know it's like 20, and then you probably didn't even come back. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, talking shit, man. I'm like, nah, nah, nah. Nah, I just yeah, yeah, talking shit, man. I'm like, nah, nah, nah.
Starting point is 00:52:05 Nah, I just know, like, looking at that, because we all was watching it. Like, we were all at the crib, and we should've heard. 20 point win for the, okay, see, we ain't gonna pod tonight. He hit the shot, we all called each other, like, yo, we gotta go downtown. Hey, Seth. Yeah, like.
Starting point is 00:52:20 No, I feel that, I 100% agree with that, man. Like I said, man, first friendly competition, but if it wasn't like that, like even after we lost, I walked to remember the arena is right there. I'm sitting in the hotel right. Walk out first person I see is fucking Halliburton. Say, yo man, I'm like, fuck bro. Yeah, we good man.
Starting point is 00:52:36 We can't lose. You know, everything's blessed, but guess what? You know what I'm saying right now? I'm fucking winning this. I'm in the camera zone. I mean, fuck, I can't even move my mouth right now. Just feel like, say it doesn't pussy like it ought to. You know, you're getting hurt, you know what I mean? But you say, you know, bro, we got this, man.
Starting point is 00:52:52 If you and I win, we win together, man. Yeah, I got you too. You know what I'm saying? Because it's real facts, man, but we gotta put on this, this is a competition, bro. But like, I swear to God, if we lose, which we won't. I'm gonna be happy, I'm gonna be which we won't. I'm gonna be happy. I'm gonna be happy for the loser.
Starting point is 00:53:06 I'm gonna be happy for the loser. Nah, that's a good. For sure, another tough question. How did you feel last year? Cause we all feel like SGI should've got the MVP last year. What was your reaction like last year when we got the results? Yeah, I was like, number one, I kind of knew it.
Starting point is 00:53:20 You can tell by the way the connotation is going out throughout the year and you know, you just kind of know if you know a ball, who they're gonna give it to. So I wasn't like, oh my God, they didn't give it to him. And he got robbed. Cause I kind of knew what they're gonna give it to, number one. Number two, when you do things every day,
Starting point is 00:53:37 if you wake up and brush your teeth every day and fold your clothes, if you really do it every day, and someone says to you, you say, guess what, we're giving out awards for waking up and brushing your teeth every day. You say, oh fuck, okay, I hope I'll get it. But you're really giving them out.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Well then guess what? You're gonna get it next year, bro. You're gonna get it tomorrow because you really do this. I'm not trying to say she does this. No, I'm right. That's why, yes, it was a little bit let down. He didn't get it. We didn't think we were gonna get it
Starting point is 00:53:59 because I knew the fucking connotation and the politics of this shit. But then you think about it, fuck, I can do this next year. And I can do it the year after that. I can do that, because I really do this. Some guys, like, you know, some guys have a good year and it's like, fuck, man, that's his greatest year. I don't think this guy's ever gonna fucking do that again.
Starting point is 00:54:15 And it's true. Some guys have that peak year and they never do. But I'm telling you, motherfucker, I need 34 next year. You're shooting like what? 37, 36% from three, I need you to shoot 42. So that means you gotta get in the gym some more. Like there's always some where you're doing great. He's like MVP I'm talking to you, right?
Starting point is 00:54:30 Do better, motherfucker. You know what I'm saying? So you're gonna go in the gym this summer, then come back and shoot like 39. He always gives me a little bit. He doesn't give me what I want, he always gives me a little bit. He's gonna give me like a 39, 40.
Starting point is 00:54:39 And then two years and he's gonna give me 42. He's gonna fuck up Jordan's numbers. He's gonna give you like 36 a game one day. People don't understand what I'm saying. I'm in Toronto, I'm telling people, people look at me like I'm a madman, like relax, your son's the MVP. This is obviously before he's the MVP.
Starting point is 00:54:51 I've been doing this every year, saying like 24, 45 a game, what the? You know, I'm from Canada, that's supposed to be great. We're happy being the NBA, I don't give a fuck about that. Can you do better? Right, right, right. Our whole model is just get better every day. It doesn't have to be large increments,
Starting point is 00:55:03 it can be small little increments. Just get better every day. And doesn't have to be large increments. It can be small increments. Just get better every day. And that's what I have to do to Shay now because it's always harder now because he's the MVP. So how do you motivate him? How do you tell him that he's gotta get better? How do you make daddy your nuts? But he's been, I've been doing this all my life.
Starting point is 00:55:17 So he already knows I'm nuts. You know what I mean? So yeah, here he goes again. He's gonna tell me to do better three times. He's gonna tell me that I should add 50. Yes, motherfucker. You had 42 in the first half. that I should add 50. That's motherfuckin'. You had 42 in the first half, you should add fucking 50. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:55:28 There's not much games like he does stuff like that. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, yeah, you should add 60. You know what I'm saying, buddy? You always have to give him that to make him feel like saying, sometimes they say, yo, this guy, you can't please this guy. But I'm okay with that. Because when you reach for the moon and all that stuff,
Starting point is 00:55:41 you're falling down a little bit lower, you're still on top of everybody. But you have to push guys like that because he's that talented, he's that blessed, he's that intelligent. He's the right guy for the job to push. He can actually do it. If you don't, you're gonna have to say,
Starting point is 00:55:53 God only gives you what you can handle, that type of thing. I'm not giving that kid more than he can handle. People might have told me that when I was younger, and I got that one. You think you're pushing them too hard. You know what I mean? No, no. If you hear these kids talking away in the room
Starting point is 00:56:04 by themselves, they're very, very smart. Nine years old talking about gallon, this and that, and clothes, they got you sharp. You know what I'm saying? So you know they know things. So you gotta push them, like man, and talk to them and deal with them. Now that's real.
Starting point is 00:56:15 We was worried about it this year, because you know what I'm saying? Obviously, we went crazy hell of a year. When we started hitting the Joker in there and the Blade in the season, it was like his best statistical season ever. And me and B-Hand was just like, hey man, ain't nothing more he can do, man.
Starting point is 00:56:25 Last year, y'all snubbed him. He came back better this year. T set the league and wins. What more can he do? So I'm happy he got his just due. I know he's gonna keep accomplishing things, but he definitely deserve an MVP this year for sure. I agree, I agree.
Starting point is 00:56:37 And like I said, it's just something that we do consistently. This whole thing is consistency. I think in life, like at your job, whatever you guys do every day, basketball, whatever you do, to be good at something, you don't really call yourself good until you can do it consistently. So if you have a great day is what I say at something,
Starting point is 00:56:52 but you have a bad day the next day, then you have a good day. So you're not really good, you're inconsistent, mother. Consistency is what we rate. It could be the best rapper, Drake from Canada, hello, shout out, Drake, blah, blah. Obviously, obviously he's the best rapper. Why though?
Starting point is 00:57:06 He keeps putting them out, bro. You guys can debate that, but who does it as often? Who does it so consistently? So consistency is a serious fucking thing, bro. Once that goes back to Shay, okay, getting snubbed, if they snub Shay this year, what would that mean in our life? It'd be disappointing.
Starting point is 00:57:22 That means we're not gonna do 33 or 92, we're gonna do something very similar next year because we're just as what we do. You get what I'm saying? Like who's not picking Shay, not because he's my son, but if Shay wasn't my son, I'd say, yes, kids probably would average 31.5 next year, six assists, seven boards, three steals.
Starting point is 00:57:37 It's what he does by this point, at this point. You know what I'm saying? You almost look at it like, okay, one of these years, I'm gonna MVP. You know what I mean? But they won't give it to you every year. So you gonna stop it this year, give it to you next year. What does it fucking matter?
Starting point is 00:57:49 I just gotta keep doing what I do and control like I can control. You know what I'm saying? I was just gonna be shitty this year though. I ain't gonna lie. He was going crazy, bro. He was talking about, man, he just get 30 every night. But he like, be in Joker, damn right.
Starting point is 00:58:03 Had a triple double. I'm like, fuck. And it was really on the brinks, bro. Like. What Joker was doing, I tell people, it's crazy what he's doing. What he was doing was crazy. Never ever downplay what Joker is doing.
Starting point is 00:58:13 We're not gonna see that again. Right? But watch this one now, guys. Watch this one. When do we get to take the criteria, when have we ever gotten to take the criteria of wins out of the MVP award? Never done that.
Starting point is 00:58:24 We've never done that. We've never done that. I'm a baller, guys. You guys can't do that to me. We've never took the criteria of wins. And you cannot be 19 or 20 fucking wins behind the fucking Shay, behind the MVP. 20 wins? No wins.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Wins has a, he had a great year. Shay had a great year. Watch this, no. You want to say his is a little bit greater than Shay because all these crazy things. But Shay's year's still great. Now you gotta go to Wins. Now you gotta go to Wins, guys.
Starting point is 00:58:48 That's what you gotta give it to them. That's my argument. You can say a lot of other stuff too. There's other elements, but Wins is too much of a big criteria. And they've never given it out without saying fucking Wins. True, and Wins has never been, Wins is a major factor. So if you take that out now,
Starting point is 00:59:03 yeah, you might say, okay, here 50-50, no, your ad wins, it's like 75-25, just like what it was. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I don't think it's that close. No, obviously we know you probably look by it. It can't be fucking 70-80, are we trying to win? Talk that shit, Pops!
Starting point is 00:59:17 These niggas are trying to win. Fuckin' shit! Guys, we don't know if the object of this game is to win, that's all we wanna know. Okay, well I don't want you on my team, there's no MVP if we can't win, I wanna win, bro. What the fuck is we? Guys, if the object of this game is to win, that's all I wanna know. Yes! Okay, well I don't want you on my team with no MVP if we can't win. I wanna win, bro. What the fuck is we winning for, Pops?
Starting point is 00:59:28 All right, we're gonna win tonight, bro. All right. We're gonna win tonight. We're gonna win tonight. Three of us going back to Hell, Casey. Y'all three of us going back to Hell, Casey. God damn! We know those guys haven't even played shit.

You're good, man. He said we three was going back already. We ain't playing games. We don't watch nothing, man. We ain't playing games. You're going crazy, man.
Starting point is 00:59:54 You're clipping it up the right way. You're the one crazy, bro. Oh, man. Obviously, you know what I'm saying? Toronto bias. What was the energy like? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? The Kendrick situation, man. I was in Philly, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? The Kendrick situation, man. I was in Philly, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:00:05 Being a ground zero with that. Yeah, we ain't even worried about that. We all about it, man. We up and all about it, man. I ain't even worried about it, man. I like that. It ain't no question. We do our thing, man.
Starting point is 01:00:16 Yeah. We're not worried about nothing. Yeah, for sure. That's hilarious, man. Before we get out of here, man, please tell the people about the No Flux organization, man. Oh, for sure, for sure. No Flux is a movement. No Flux means never opting for less,
Starting point is 01:00:28 unified knowledge, equal success. That's a foundation I have back in Toronto where we help at-risk youths get in what they need to survive in life, basketball skills, opportunities. We have a league that we take after hours ball, we call it now, where we take kids from the hood at eight o'clock at night, bring them back at one o'clock at night, they play basketball in the league. The league is almost like how you do have a men's league. So we keep scoring like the NBA, we can score, lead and assist, this, that, that. At the end of every week, we get them prizes for whatever accomplishments they make.
Starting point is 01:01:00 And we check our retention rate to see who's getting better, who's getting worse. And it's just a fun little safe place. Yeah. Like a safe place for these kids at nighttime. But that's just one thing we do. We have an event coming up July 26, 27 called Shoot Your Shot 2. So last year we were Shoot Your Shot 1. We did a three point competition with 10 to 18 year olds.
Starting point is 01:01:20 The winner of those competitions got to go against NBA players and we gave them jewelry and no flukes, pendants, and all that stuff for the winners. We're running it back bigger this year on July 22, 27. That's dope. That's what we're into, man. We're just trying to change lives every day, one day at a time, and make these kids know
