Starting point is 00:00:04 Oh, Joe, the Seahawks quarterback, Rick Wooden, apologize for his costly taunting penalty that almost cost the Seahawks a trip to the Super Bowl. No cap, high intensity game. When you're in the zone, you balling with your bros. Sometimes you black out. Oh, Cho, can you trust that he won't black out again? Because what happens, you know, you know, Diggs going to be talking.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Diggs is a talking. He's going to be all right, you know. You're not going to cost your team. Obviously, emotions were very high. He made a good play. excited. He lost sense of self in that moment. Obviously, he had one of his players get on him. They exchanged words on the sideline. The good thing about this is you live and you learn and it didn't cost your team so you know that next week you're not going to just mess around
Starting point is 00:00:50 and do it again. So you're going to be a little bit more cautious. Control your emotions, make your plays, celebrate with your teammates, and lead the trash talking alone. Control your emotions. Don't let them control you. Brable, like, hey, get it. Get him. Because that's what we did. Hey, you got somebody. Hey, we played the Raiders of the Chiefs. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:12 You already know. Damn. You got to try to get any edge you possibly can. Hey, bud. Oh, that's going to be. I'm so excited, but that's going to be a good game, man. It's going to be a great game. We don't have to wear about the weather being an element.
Starting point is 00:01:34 You know, we don't have to worry about. At least hope not. Because, you know, sometimes it does rain in San Francisco. You know, hey, at nighttime, boy, at nighttime, I mean, we're not even going to be at the game. You're going to the game? Yeah, I don't know. Boy, you see, hey, you've seen the ticket prices? Man.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Yes. Four tickets, $200,000. Four tickets, $65,000. Boy, and please. Hey, the best seat, the best seat in the house, the best ticket in the house is going to be on my couch. On my couch, too, because I leave, I think I leave Sunday morning, if I'm not mistaken. I leave Friday morning. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Listen, I'm getting up out of there. By the time I get home, I'd be able to sit down and get ready to watch the game. Nice and quiet. No, man, I'm, look here. If the Broncos had made it, I was coming home. Either way. Either way, yes. I was going to have my Bronco gear on for them.
Starting point is 00:02:34 but I'm not going to the game. No, no. And they turn it. It's unfortunate. Obviously, I understand it. I understand the business side of it. They've turned it into a corporate event. We have this conversation every single year when it come time to the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:02:48 The true fans that support these two teams throughout the season that are at all the home games, they're going to road games. I'm not sure unless you're just extremely well off or you saved up to be able to afford to be able to go to the game, huh? Like, it's ridiculous. He, he, yeah, it's, look, a lot of this stuff, I mean, the advertisers, they spend so much and they get a block of tickets. You got to, you know, Pepsi and Gatorade and Verizon and, you know, all those, all those corporate sponsors, pizza huts. They get so many tickets, oh, Joe. I mean, hey, and I don't begrudge them.
Starting point is 00:03:25 I mean, man, if I, hey, you better, if I'm spending three, four hundred million dollars, you better give me a hundred damn tickets. I mean, understandable. What? Understandable. Look at Ocho. What up, what up, twin? You want to go stay with Ocho? Yeah, come on down here with your boy.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Come on, hey, bring him on down. Take him to the dog park, Unk. Let him have a little fun at there. He can go to the dog park because he, he's not in- Oh, you got him fixed? I did. Hey, I'm going to have to call CPS on you, um.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah, you can't be doing, you can't be doing a dog like that, man. Now you're innocent. Now you're pure. He would never know what it's like to experience, you know, horizontal activity. No. He would say, I ain't want to be no dad.
Starting point is 00:04:14 He'd say, child support. Say, kick my dad after. Nah. But he said, nah, I'm good. Why you end upstairs on the bed with your brother? Teddy was he on the bed. That's why I left him. Why you're not in the room with your auntie?
Starting point is 00:04:30 She closed the door on you. Hey, make him bark, huh? Oh, he can't hear me because you got the, oh, daddy get on me about the bar. Say, I go, say I go, I go, I go, I don't know when to stop. I say, I don't know when to stop. He said, the only time I get really excited when I'm going to get my brother Titus
Starting point is 00:04:56 because I know he in that room and so I just start scratching on the door. Hey, I'm thinking, I might get me a dog, man, because you just, you know, some just that, some. You're going too much over. I know, but some just that, you know, that's going to love.
Starting point is 00:05:13 your unconditionally, you know, no matter what. You know, good day, bad day. Oh, for sure. You know, I just, I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think. I'm, should I do that? What kind of dog can I get, aunt? You probably, well, I mean, you get a small dog and you could travel with it.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Oh. Hey, that'd be a good one. Hey, what about my furniture, you know, all my furniture, white, unk, white rugs, white everything. Well, yeah, I would recommend you getting a dog be. Is that way to potty? But I mean, but like, like, like Teddy, like Teddy, Teddy likes to get, he don't really care
Starting point is 00:05:54 about the furniture. He wants to be, he don't really care about getting on the bed. He just wants to be on the floor. Teddy wants to be on the bed. Tidus wants to be on the bed. Okay, okay. So. Okay, I got a, I got to think about that, man. I think my, and I'm going to get me a white dog. So I'm going to get me a white dog to go with the white furniture. Well, I mean, you can get a coup boss.
Starting point is 00:06:14 You can get a bejohn. I had to be John. I had to be John. You can get a son when I was a baby, named Studley. When I was a baby, when I was young. You can get an alibi, a dogo. No, come on. Doggo's too big, huh?
Starting point is 00:06:28 Yeah, I know. So, I just tried to get a dog that's white. I mean, you get Palm and Rainies that's white. I ain't never seen no white palm. I got to hollet my homeboy at the city. You know, I can get, you know, I can get your dogs. You know, sometimes, you know, y'all pay $5, $10,000 for these dogs. I got a dude out at the city.
Starting point is 00:06:49 You know, who can get anything for about $200, $200. I don't know how he'd get him. He want me to keep scratching him. What you do? Ocho, before joining the Seahawks' last offseason, Cooper Cubs' departure from the Rams was more contentious than initially appeared. Michael Silver, I know Mike very well, revealed more details behind what Led Cook released, reporting that rather than trying to negotiate a salary deduction with the former All-Pro,
Starting point is 00:07:18 the Rams had unceremoniously cut ties, urging him to retire. The Rams also reportedly tried to dictate Coup's market, excuse me, Cups Market once he became a free agent. Sources told Silver that Cupp became to believe that some of the L.L. officials had cautioned potential suitors against paying him anything more than the vet minimum suggested that his age and accumulation of injuries had provoked a steep decline. Cup spent his first six, eight seasons of his career in Los Angeles
Starting point is 00:07:50 after being drafted with the third round pick in 2017. He helped lead the Rams to a Super Bowl title in 2021, earning a Super Bowl MVP, an NFL offensive player of the year honor. Now, Cup has gotten the last laugh. Cup had the greatest receiving season in NFL history. When you combine that season that he had, Ocho, he was the triple crown.
Starting point is 00:08:12 He finished a couple of yards short of Calvin Johnson. I think he had like 100. 40 sports catches, 1, 1940-something yards. Calvin Johnson's record is 1964, but he literally, he was a triple crowd. And then he parlayed that in the both season.
Starting point is 00:08:28 It was insane. When he absolutely had to be, he was historically great in the post season. So I believe when you look, well over 2000, what do you have? I think he had like 2,400 receiving yards. I mean, in its totality, yeah. It was something like that.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Yes. But even with that, even with that historic, season he had in 2021. You see how the business side of things come back to bite you in the, and you know what? Oh, now you don't lost a step. No, he didn't lose a step.
Starting point is 00:08:57 You just, you stopped giving the opportunities you gave him the same. You got Puga. I mean, obviously you got Puga, but you still didn't put him in position to make those same play before Puckooke got there. No, you put him in position, Ocho. He was, he was injured, probably.
Starting point is 00:09:09 You remember he was a injury. He had some injuries, but you got to realize, think about how often make, Ocho, do you know how, how many hits, you blows you got to take if you catch 140-something passes. Now, how many times did you drop the ball and you still got hit? Yeah, hey, I'm just...
Starting point is 00:09:25 So think about that over the course of a career. Now, Puka is there. Pooka's a little bigger, but Cooper Cupp is a big guy. People think Cooper Cubs is a small guy. Cooper Cubs is a big-ass dude. He looked like it on the field until you get up close. Yeah, he's just a big boy now.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And so, but my thing is, Ocho. I don't, you shouldn't be able to dictate. Okay, you release me. No, I don't want to retire. I don't believe, look, Ocho, you, you married. You get a divorce. You try to dictate to your wife, well, I don't think you should get remarried. I think you just, you know, just live by yourself.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I'm not sure. You know, and vice versa. The wife gets divorced and say, I don't think you should get remarried. No, no, no, you don't want me. Don't worry about what I'm going to do somewhere else. I might decide to retire. I might decide not to get a spouse. I want to work.
Starting point is 00:10:18 But that's going to be my choice. Why would they do that anyway? Why would they even care once he decides to leave and you didn't want to pay me? You're telling me to take a pay cut. Not only you're telling me to take a pay cut, you're telling other teams that might want me, tell him to only give me the vent minimum. What is that all about? Why would you even care?
Starting point is 00:10:36 It's not your money? Why would they even care? I don't understand. Exactly. And staying cronkey, he's, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the largest landowner in the world got over 2.3 million acres. He worth $16, 17 billion on the Nuggets, the Avalanche, Arsenal. I need a hollash stand too, boy.
Starting point is 00:11:00 I'm glad you said that, boy. Could you imagine if I play for the Rams? Go ahead. I would have been the first player to be a two, to be a two sport player like Deanna. Yeah, I would have played for Arsenal and I would have played for the Rams.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Okay, we got a special guest joining us. We got Pro Bowl safety. Julian Love going to his first Super Bowl. Jay Love, has it sunk in that you're going to the Super Bowl? How you're doing? We're doing great, bro. Yeah, I mean, it's a little so real for sure.
Starting point is 00:11:43 You know, the motions were flowing last night. Folks were celebrating. But, yeah, it's sunk in for sure. So you're getting, as time is winding down, you're like, okay, we got a four-point lead. Just nothing cheap, nothing deep. Keep everything in front of us. Keep them inbound. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick it away.
Starting point is 00:12:03 So when Pooka caught that ball, you're like, damn, we laid him out of bounds. But you saw the real, and you saw the official kept doing this, you're like, it's over. So the first thing that is, you're like, it's over. First thing it goes through your mind. You know like, okay, this game is over. What goes through your mind immediately? I threw my helmet somewhere. Try to throw those little kisses to the family up in the suite.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Celebrate with the fans. They were going crazy. But yeah, I mean, our offensive to their job in that four-minute drill, you know, they burn their timeouts. So they had a whole field to go, 25 seconds left, no timeouts. I mean, that's a challenge. And they completed two balls. But they were both in bounds.
Starting point is 00:12:42 And so, I mean, that's a tough sled for a team that needed more than a field goal in that situation. So, yeah, we feel good. So now, it's a situation. You played this team. They've kind of had your guys as number, but you go back out there
Starting point is 00:12:58 and you do a job on them the final game of the season. You know there's a probably 80% chance that you're probably going to have to see this team again, a division opponent, that we've already seen twice. We see them twice a year. You know there's probably a better than 80%
Starting point is 00:13:14 percent chance. In order for us to reach our final destination, we're probably going to have to go through this damn team again. Damn it. Man, we looked at it. We looked across the playoff bracket. We just felt good, for real. I mean, the NFC West this year was just a division of demons for, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:31 the Niners somehow were finding a way to win games despite losing all their star guys. And the Rams were just, the offense, man. They're so high power. Stafford McVeigh, that's just a combo that no one wanted to see for real. But we knew situationally on defense. That's all we had to do.
Starting point is 00:13:47 I think, I can't remember the exact number, but they got one or two third down conversions. So we're sharp there. We were sharp on fourth down. We were sharp in the red zone at the end of the game. And the sharp end of a half, two minutes, like everything. That was critical.
Starting point is 00:14:00 We stepped up for it. Some of the other stuff. Yeah, we got to get back to the drum. Yeah, most definitely. Obviously, I want to say, congratulations, J.L. On all your accomplishments, what you guys have achieved defensively,
Starting point is 00:14:11 collectively, not only as a defense, but as a team as well, and going to the Super Bowl, but I wanted to ask you, being nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year, what does that mean to you, boss, man? Man, that's special. You know, I'm a Chicago kid. And so Walter Payton, that's like a, he's a superhero. That's how my pops raised me. As how my grandparents raised me, that's what it is.
Starting point is 00:14:37 You know, Walter Payton was a superhero. And so to be nominated, you know, and so. to be nominated, you know, it was definitely emotional. Everybody back home was going crazy because they just know what it means. And for me, I mean, I was just, I don't know, to be myself for real. You know, I do a lot with, with expected, or postpartum mothers, a lot of kids, obviously. I have my youth camp for free. I don't like charging kids. I know my parents are grinding and paying that entrance fee for these camps and all these things. And, you know, they did it thankfully, but I know it's not easy. And so just everything. It was cool to be nominated, but yeah, it doesn't stop. That's dope.
Starting point is 00:15:15 That's dope. The team that you're going against this, look, this is a rematch of Super Bowl 49. And I think there's a 99.99.99.99 chance. If y'all get the ball on the one yard line, y'all going to hand that down ball up to King of Walker in a similar situation because, or you guys going to lose your damn mind on Clint. And I know Clint very well. I play with it. with his father. But has it like, okay, have you given yourself an opportunity? Have you watched any film on the Patriots and kind of what they like to do offensively? Or you just taking it in, okay, we're going to, we'll start getting to them on Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:15:51 We got tomorrow off. You probably came in today. Okay, we're going to leave Saturday. We're going to leave Sunday to head down to San Francisco and we'll leave Monday. Get your ticket situations, the hotel, this is what, you got the plane situation. when I went Jay Love, like, my family was leaving from where they were from. And so I had seats on the plane that I ended up giving to my best friend, like, hey, your family's here. They can take those seats.
Starting point is 00:16:18 That's kind of the planning that y'all had today. You brought everybody in, you explain when you're leaving, the hotel situation, the ticket situation. Look, let's get all that out the way. Because once we get started on Wednesday, we don't need any distractions. You hit it exactly on the head. That was the whole day today. Logistics. My head's in a blender.
Starting point is 00:16:38 You know, the team went, you know, we celebrated last night. So we're trying to figure it out this morning. And yeah, we had some uncomfortable conversations this morning and try to tell the family,
Starting point is 00:16:48 all right, this is a situation, you know, it's a game. I got to win a game in two weeks. It ain't a family vacation in Sanfran. And so, yeah, there's a lot of that today.
Starting point is 00:16:58 We should say like a Monday. I mean, you heard our head coach talk, McDonald. He's very much direct. He's very straight line. He treated till you like a normal Monday. You celebrated, watched the good plays at all the things.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Tomorrow's an off day and Wednesday we'll get after. And so we just follow the same method. We have a little more time. I haven't watched them, to be honest, too much. Just our paths that didn't cross too much. You know, I'm watching film on other teams. And so, yeah, we're excited to just take a dive for sure. Hey, before you came to the Seahawks, I think if I'm not mistaken, my year served me correct,
Starting point is 00:17:32 in fact, 23. What was the selling point? What was the selling point based on other places you could have gone? What made Seattle the destination for you? Yeah, honestly,
Starting point is 00:17:44 it was Pete Carroll, just straight up and down. You know, I had three head coaches in four years in New York and up to the Giants. Tough sled. And, you know, we were figuring it out.
Starting point is 00:17:59 But, you know, my last year in New York, who's like my first time as a full-time starter. I played a lot before that, but first time as a full-time starter. And so I was looking to grow. You know, some people in the Giants building just didn't see that. And, you know, I was 24 at the time.
Starting point is 00:18:13 So I'm like, man, I'm young. I left school early, you know, back when people did that. And, yeah, it was Pete Carroll. He just said, listen, we have two high-paid safeties. We have mall, as we all know, and Convey Diggs, who my mentors, who are my guys. They said, but, you know, You know, malls are kind of dealing with some injury stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:33 We need you to come in. And we just have a clear vision for how we want to play you and deploy you into everything. And I just trusted it. Pete Carroll sold me. And so that year, I mean, I was the third safety for real. And I made the Pro Bowl. You know, we, I accomplished a lot of things. I earned a lot of what I have now because I just took a leap of faith for real.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Have you always played safety growing up most of the time? You know, we play other positions. And as we got older, we were. fixated on one thing, especially when it was time to get to the next level. You've always been a safety all your life or you played other things? No, you know, when you were a kid, man, you just play whatever. Who could score to most points? Little League, you're running back, of course.
Starting point is 00:19:16 High school, running back receiver, returning kicks. Did all the things. Played kind of linebacker is safety. Because in high school corner, I mean, nobody's really guarding people for real in high school. So this is where I can ever tackle. And in college at Notre Dame, I played corner. Okay. And so I was kind of in the draft as a tweener for real.
Starting point is 00:19:38 You know, people were like, is he a nickel? Is he a corner that, you know, that just tackles well? Size speed, all that would kind of be analyzed. And thankfully, a mentor is like, listen, get some reps at free safety. I think, you know, your skill set, you can move, you can tackle, you do all the things. I think it'll serve you well. And so, yeah, randomly have starts at corner, nickel, free, strong, all in the least in my first few years.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And so, yeah, I bounced around a little bit. Jay Love, you said something very important that you relate, you relate to your family that this is not a vacation because the family, you're going to probably guys got to go get that in there Sunday or Monday. The family is going to come in on Thursday. And the way I approached it, I went and saw my family when they got in. I saw the kids. We hung out.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And then I didn't see the kids again until after the game because I'm there to win a game. I'm not there to go sightseeing. I'm not there to, because the first Super Bowl we had was in SeaWorld. So you know the kids are all the side of my Seaworld. We go to Sea World, Sea World, see all the do blah, blah. Yes, that was my mom, my sister, my girlfriend at the time. That was their job. Y'all handled the kids.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Don't call me for nothing unless it's an absolute emergency, and then I'm going to meet you guys at wherever you need to be at. But other than that, you have to relay that because they're like, oh, man, that game ain't till Sunday. No, no, no, no, no, no. The game is one. People don't realize games are won Monday through Friday. You go out there on the field, that ain't nothing.
Starting point is 00:21:06 You win games on Monday through Friday. That's when you won to get. So I want to ask you this. Are you guys installing and then have everything as a dress rehearsal, or are you waiting until you actually get to San Fran before you do installation? No, no, we're getting after it. We're starting up. I think we have an extra day off.
Starting point is 00:21:26 I think we have a Wednesday off. And we're treating Thursday like it's a Wednesday of the week. Yep. Mike might have us in full pads, knowing him. Whoa. Full pads? Yeah, man. We were in full pads like a week or two ago.
Starting point is 00:21:41 You got to get that callus, get that monkey off your back. And so we did, but that's been the whole season for real. Like we're, you know, to us on the inside, we're like a team of nobody's, you know, to most people. Not a lot of star power, you know, a lot of people say. And we just approach every day the same. You know, so, yeah, we're going to get after, you know, our Wednesday, the same way we always do. I have our meetings, you know, getting at, you know, however earlier getting in and then leaving at 5.30 or so. Yeah, we got locked in.
Starting point is 00:22:12 I mean, I told my family, listen, I can see you exactly right. Thursday. We have NFL on there, so maybe I could see you Thursday. But then my normal Friday, I like to get in, I'm already in that mode Friday for a game. I'll do disservice to you guys if I'm trying to play host, because I'm going to be like, quiet and kind of in, you know, in that mode. And so, yeah, I think they know what time it is for them. Are you, are you married?
Starting point is 00:22:35 Did you have a family? Yeah, married. I started dating my wife and I was 16 years old. Oh, but goodness. Congrats. Yeah, I got lucky. It's hard. It's hard nowadays for these young guys.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Yeah. And so I got lucky. So married, we've been married for a few years now. Kids? Yeah, two years old. And we have another one doing March. Oh, congratulations, man. Boy, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Thank you. Thank you. But that's the thing. You got a wife. Hey, you got to handle this. You got to handle it. Because, hey, I don't know if and when I'll ever get back to this situation. So I want to seize this moment.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Mom, dad, hey, wife got all y'all set up. Y'all don't need me for anything. Let me handle this game. When we win this game, wherever y'all want to go, I got you. Yep. Well, have time. We got an off-season we can do all that. We live, I live five minutes from my folks.
Starting point is 00:23:27 back in Chicago Oh, really? We'll have that time. That's dope. Yeah, we'll have that time. So, yeah, wife's playing, mediator,
Starting point is 00:23:37 manager, you know, all the things. She's putting an overtime now. Once all this is over, once the dust clears and y'all win the Super Bowl, you hoist that trophy,
Starting point is 00:23:47 everything settles in. What do you like to do outside of the game of football? You know, any hobbies you might have? I mean, you cook, read books, I mean,
Starting point is 00:23:55 whatever it may be. If you have anything that you, you're excited to do once everything settles down? Man, I'm a home body for real. You know, I get back to Chicago, I train, I hang out with the family, you know, I wake up, I enjoy playing, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:12 my son will be, you know, two boys this off-season. So I chill. I do like the golf. I'm average, but I enjoy it, just kind of getting out. You know, have a few jericho guys, you know, play some music. I'm more of that type of golfer. You got too much muscle, Jay Love. You got loose all that.
Starting point is 00:24:27 muscle to be good at golf. You got to be free through the shoulders. Yeah, I don't want to see a video of you swinging the golf club. I might not look right. It looks like LeBron swimming the golf club. A few weeks ago, Greg Bell tweeted, Julia Love said he and former Giants teammate Leonard Williams hugged in the locker room postgame at the 49ers
Starting point is 00:24:45 and said, each to each other. Seahawks winning the division, making the playoffs as Top C, we made it. Jim John Snyder walked by and said, you're welcome. Yeah, man. When you look at you, you spoke about the journey that you went on, you go to the Giants, and they don't really give you the opportunity that you think you deserve and you have to take a leap of faith. You go to a team that got two starting safeties and both have gone to the Pro Bowl, have been perennial law pro, and you say what?
Starting point is 00:25:14 That's the perfect spot for me. I'm going to go to Seattle to play behind two perennial pro bowl players. Yes, I can't think of a better place for Jay Love to go. This is a home. when you told your wife that you were signing with Seattle. And she said, hold on, honey. Jamal Landon, Condra Diggs. Are you crazy?
Starting point is 00:25:35 Chicago don't want you? There's not another team that need a safety. So this is the only team. First of all, you pulling me way out. Chicago and New York. Yeah. Okay. You pulling me way.
Starting point is 00:25:47 That's a six-hour flight, baby. Yeah, she looked at the map. She was like, oh, man. Four flights out from Chicago. Yeah, it's going to at least. be five hours. Yeah, it was a leap of faith for real. But at that point, just like I'm sure you guys did,
Starting point is 00:26:03 I mean, there's no higher belief in me than me. I felt like I was playing my best ball and I was climbing. I was young. I was hungry. And so, you know, the value wasn't there for some people with the Giants. Cool. I'm going to go make a shake somewhere else. And so it was an element of betting on myself.
Starting point is 00:26:22 And yeah, with that conversation with Leo in the locker room, Leonard Williams, man, Big Cat. I play is my seventh season. I played every season with Big Cat. He's the only team that I've had on two different teams. My first year in New York, he got traded from the Jets to the Giants. We played four years together. My first year, then I signed as a free agent to Seattle,
Starting point is 00:26:40 and he gets traded to Seattle that year. And, like, we're best friends. And so that tweet or that quotes a little wrong, I said we made it out. You made it out. You made it out. We found a way, man, we're running some like-minded people, some dogs, some people who are pretty selfless.
Starting point is 00:26:59 And yeah, thankfully at GM and made that call because, yeah, it's, it's, night and day from what you work. I mean, listen, you, you, you, be careful. I mean, obviously they gave you the opportunity. You never want to say anything bad about them. I like, I like the way you've been very cautious about that.
Starting point is 00:27:17 But my grandma always told me, you know, closed mouths don't get fed, so I'm going ahead and be the one to ask, can I get a ticket to the Super Bowl? No. I saw what they're going to keep that way to keep that thing a stack. Hey. I saw what they're trying to charge me,
Starting point is 00:27:34 people who are in the game. Yeah, I was shook. I remember the ticket used to be. I think the max ticket might have been like $1,200 when I played, but I think now
Starting point is 00:27:47 they're probably three, four, five thousand. That's a top too. Jay, he didn't even hesitate. He said no fast as hell. Hell. Hey, do you still get 13 with two comps? Yeah. Can you get more?
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yeah, I think it is like 13, two comps. Okay. Maybe 14 to two comps. So you can, you can, you get allocated them. But yeah, they said we don't get that off you. Yeah. Oh, they're going to, oh, a lot of that. Oh, the tickets.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Oh, you plan $50, $60, $80,000 for those seats. Yeah, yeah. They told us today, uh, uh, uh, uh, you know, usually have like a lap infant, and we have the two-year-old, whatever. They said, everybody. Everybody. You get a ticket.
Starting point is 00:28:29 You can be six weeks old with a baby. Baby need a ticket to this game. Baby need a ticket. You better be glad they in charge of your wife. She's pregnant and I still two seats. You're going to charge me one and a half. Crazy. But the year before, guys don't know this.
Starting point is 00:28:45 This is between us. You used to get up to 30 tickets for the Super Bowl. Dang. Yeah. 30. a decent rate too? I tell you off camera what what changed that.
Starting point is 00:29:01 But we don't want to put family business in the street. Man, before you go, we don't get you out on this. What's it like every day to see JSCN and to have to deal with him
Starting point is 00:29:16 on a regular basis? Because you see him every day and you kind of know his movements. He does a great job of staying level because a lot of times when guys go to stop, they'll drop down. But if you watch him,
Starting point is 00:29:27 he's kind of like, he's like just floating on air. So everything looks the same. He'll run out, it looks the same. He'll run an out. It looks the same. He'll run the end. He looks the same.
Starting point is 00:29:36 He runs the same. He runs the same. So it's really hard to get a bead on what he's actually doing. So what's it like watching him every single day? No, he's special. Y'all got to get out
Starting point is 00:29:46 and see him like in person go to work. He's special. Like you said, everything's the same. Those are the toughest receivers. You know, you can be fluid. in a route and be able to break on every step and you're moving at full speed
Starting point is 00:30:00 there's there's three to five of the league pretty much he's one of them so natural then out of the route natural pass catcher you saw him with the one hand to grab just natural I think a lot of his teammates you know back in college you know back in his Ohio State days they said the same thing like man he's special and he's just a guy man he's chill
Starting point is 00:30:22 you know he's cool you know he's You know, a young single dude enjoying himself. But when it comes to work, you know, he's serious. We know he's for real. He needs to get more attention. Obviously, he's getting this year, but he's a serious. Listen, I got a small sample size of him. Obviously, seeing what he did, Ohio State, seeing what he did in the Rose Bowl,
Starting point is 00:30:42 I hold a wide receiver workshop for all the NFL receivers. He was one of the receivers that came out with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins and Cortland, Sutton, Judy, and being able to see him now up close and personal. and to see his footwork and his ability to start and stop and transition and get in and out of breaks. I was like, what the, what the hell? Top tier. So then, so when I see what he does this season on film and on camera, I'm like, okay, now it makes sense why they let D.K. go. Okay, now it makes sense why they let Tyler Lockett go.
Starting point is 00:31:14 So I'm like, dog, unbelievable. He did his own. He's nice. He's nice. Now, to have his production with the style of offense we play, You know, it's run heavy. I think we run it at the highest clip in the league. The doing he's doing.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Oh, you absolutely going to run it. Yeah, yeah. To get that production out of him, it's crazy. But when you play action off that run and when Kenneth Walker the third is running it like he's running it, and when you play action off of it, that's why you got guys running. JSC is still an excellent route runner,
Starting point is 00:31:47 but he's even more running because those safety are like, damn, we got to get down to the box, we got to stop this because we can't let this guy get ahead of steam. he's special. Even, like Ocho's talking about in that Rose Bowl, and you're watching him, you're like, is this team that bad or this dude really that good? Because, you know, you don't see, look,
Starting point is 00:32:06 we see receivers get 175, 200. But to see a guy go over 300 yards receiving? So I'm asking myself, if this man really this good, or are they that bad at defense? And come to find out, no, he's that good. Yeah. Had no answers.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Had no answers for him. Man, well, congratulations, man. Thank you for coming on and joining us tonight and sharing with us a little highlight from the game and what it means to you and your family to go. Congratulations on the newborn that's about to happen in March. Wish you best of luck. Everybody's healthy and happy. And come back after the game.
Starting point is 00:32:41 You guys take care of what you're supposed to take care of. Come back and talk to us. And don't forget my ticket. Of course. Go to a will call. You might be waiting a little bit, but. It'll be there. Appreciate it, Jay Love.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Congratulations. Stay healthy, bro. Thank you, y'all. Appreciate y'all. Broncos linebacker, Drey Greenlaw said transitioning from San Francisco to Denver was very tough because how much more physical demanding Sean Payton coaching style was. He told reporter Sean is old school.
Starting point is 00:33:15 He's going to do six days on, one day off. He's got his way of doing things. You're going to be practicing three hours on Wednesday, three hours on Fridays. Shanahan is a complete opposite. He wants you fresh. Well, hold on. I thought the CBA didn't allow them to be out, be out on the field that long.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Don't start being allowed. Yeah, I mean, I, the 49ers have never won a game on the Cowell Shadahan when trailing by eight points or more in the fourth quarter. Since 2017, Kansas City leads the NFL with seven wins in 30 such situation with a comeback rate of 23.3.
Starting point is 00:33:50 San Francisco is dead last when trailing by eight points in the fourth quarter. They're 0.51. Damn. Yeah. Wow. I can believe what he's saying too about Sean Payton. And obviously his- Yes. Sean is old school. He's old school. I'm sure he's had to adjust a little bit and adapt to the new CBA and the rules and the way players wear pads and the way they wear shells. But he's going to get the most out of you.
Starting point is 00:34:24 He's going to get the most out of you. And that's probably the reason for their success. Literally and figuratively. Yeah. That's probably the reason for their success. Okay. Hey, Chad, Unka's gone. How y'all doing today?
Starting point is 00:34:39 Cool. Okay, bet. I'm doing good, too. That's pretty much it. Y'all like my jersey? Flamingo? No? Brazilian team? No?
Starting point is 00:34:55 Cool. What, Unco? Hey, chat, y'all want to hear a joke? Chat, y'all want to hear a joke? Can they even hear me? Ash, can you hear me? Okay. Should I save my joke to Unge back?
Starting point is 00:35:24 Hey, chat. What do you call a wondering nun? Like a nun that's wandering around? What do you call a wondering none? Anybody? Nobody knows? A wondering none is called a Roman Catholic. I heard it.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Back to all normally schedule programming. It is a transition, no, Cho. If I've always felt it's easy to go from difficult to easy. to easy as opposed to easy to difficult. That's why they say you could always lighten up on your kids, but it's harder for you to be lighten and try to toughen up on your kids.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And Drey was, look, I know this Westco system and and know how it operates. And that's how Mike was. Mike says, I want you fresh. I don't want to waste all this effort on the practice field.
Starting point is 00:36:53 I don't want to leave this. You leave your best material on the cutting room floor. No, I'm saving this for Sunday. I want you guys fresh. I want you guys to get off your feet. I want you the guys to start mentally preparing and getting ready for this game. And I want you fast. Mike didn't beat, also, we had on pads.
Starting point is 00:37:11 We put on pads Thursday. So I wore pads basically 12 plays in my entire 12 plays, 12 plays a week when I was Mike Shaddenham. Now, once we got the problem about week 10, we were completely. Done, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Keep the body fresh. And obviously, obviously everyone knows.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Keep everybody upright. Don't tackle nobody and stuff like that. I remember even the days when we would have pads on, I got to the point where I would just wear my shells. I would wear my shells over, I mean, obviously, I went with my pads and everybody knew they weren't going to hit me anyway. I just didn't want to put no pads on until it was time to play ball on Sunday. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:00 I mean, John would wear heads because he needed to be used to throwing with those pads on. But now, we warm up in them. Once we got the, we did a little team stuff. Then once we got the 9-07, hey, I went down there. I would run, you know, a couple of rounds of 101. We had the pads. But that's how Mike was. And it was easy for me to adopt Mike's system because I had Coach Reeves.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Coach Reeves was really, really old school. he learned under coach tom lander you had on pads on friday whoa so shells were shoulder pads and friday you had on pads on fast friday oh yes goodness yes shells were shoulder pads and shorts not the shells that you're talking about like those little yeah the little soft yeah yeah yeah yeah no no no no no no no no no no no no That's not what shells were. Shells were shoulder pads and shorts. Other than that, you had on everything. And Dan didn't allow you to wear, you had to wear your full uniform.
Starting point is 00:39:07 You had on thigh pads, knee pads. You had all that on. Yeah, absolutely. That's Belichick. That's Belichick, too. Yeah, absolutely. Hey, had you out there looking like that man on that poster? In the equipment room?
Starting point is 00:39:21 That's exactly. Yeah, he had all the pads on his arms and had a birdcage face mask. You come out there. That's like Coach Reeves have your ass out there. You come out there with Belichick and you try to come out there with no thigh pads, no knee pads. You don't have your hip pads in. You're going back inside. He had you wearing everything like you was the damn, the model in the equipment room on how to dress properly.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Yeah. Yeah, that's what it was. Those were what shells were. Shells were you actually shoulder pads and you got to have on short. You know, back there, they don't have them now. You remember those grays, those cotton. gray shorts, you have probably had them in college. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:02 We had the cotton grave before we had the, uh, uh, the, uh, the, uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they were all cotton. You know, cotton. Right, right, right. Right. Boy, after a while, you can't get that stench out of cotton. Man, boy. They get the stinking, huh? What?
Starting point is 00:40:26 Man. Uh, uh, Look, I don't think that's, and I know people are going to say, you know, he's making excuses. I don't believe that's the reason why they lost. He's just speaking. Oh, in general. He had to, he had to train himself. He had to learn that this is what's expected.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Look, I've been there. Not during the season, not during the season, training camp, we had a couple of, we had some three-hour practices. Not during the season. I think the longest practice we had, we normally like Thursday was our longest practice. We're out there two hours. Normally on a Wednesday, probably out there like an hour 45. Friday, if it's really good, you get to 115. You're not going over 130 because I'm trying to get to those wings.
Starting point is 00:41:16 You know, probably, hey, you don't have wings and pizza on Friday, oh, Joe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, you know, I got four wings, a biscuit, and I have pizza too. I got, you know, have pizza, had my own pizza. My stuff had my name written on it because everybody. be done pick through everything. You know how everybody's coming there and people don't be washing their hands.
Starting point is 00:41:36 They come in there straight with their gloves. They got the gloves in them caught pasting. They'll hit somebody. Nah, hell, come. You're laughing on you. I said, nah, I'm done with this. I'm done. So they started out like, look, I told Mike,
Starting point is 00:41:47 I said, Mike, all I want is four wings and two biscuits. And a pizza. I want pizza. I want hamburger. I say, Mike, these young are going to be washing their hands. They come from, they come straight. They come straight off the field.
Starting point is 00:42:00 and don't nobody take their gloves off, they still got tape on their fingers, and they go, I say, I'm done with that, Mike. He's like, all right, 84. So they have, you know, 30, 40 boxes, they have like seven, eight boxes of 21 pieces, and then they have wings, and they have drumsticks, and they have, I don't know why I keep calling short thighs.
Starting point is 00:42:27 So they have that, and then they have, you know, like seven, eight boxes, of biscuits to have, you know, bags and bags of honey and ketchup and stuff like that. But I was like, nah, I'm good. I'm good. I said, so I'll get my pizza,
Starting point is 00:42:42 my chicken, I go eat. You know, sometimes me and Burns, you know, because, you know, that's the time to cut the food. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, yeah. We know how we do. You know how we do it. Absolutely. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:42:57 But, but, I mean, that just goes to show you the greatest of Mahomes that he's won seven of those 30 games. The Vikings are 8 for 55. The Packers are 7 for 50. The Bengals are 2 for 61. That wasn't necessary. I'm just saying, I'm just putting that out there.
Starting point is 00:43:21 I know you're reading off. I'm just saying that wasn't necessary. The Broncos, we 7 or 66. Yeah, that ain't. What are the Ravens? The Ravens are 3 for 37. My team's up there. So both of my teams are in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:43:35 I'm cool. Both your teams? Oh, now they both your team, nah. Don't do that, I'm just saying, I'm just saying,
Starting point is 00:43:44 you want to show by your team the other night, but now they both your team, nah, okay. What you mean? I was, listen, I'm a Bronco fan.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I'm a Raven fan. I'm a Ravens fan. I'm sure, I'm sure you're a Ravens fan. I'm just saying, your faith in your Broncos, it wasn't sitting too high. You weren't too voicrous. You weren't screaming to the mountaintops
Starting point is 00:44:03 about your goddamn Broncos before that game because, What was I screaming about? You said you didn't have any faith because the quarterback who was starting. I didn't. That's why I wasn't as upset had I been, had I would have been, had Beau started. If Bo had played and we lost, yeah, I'd have been disappointed, extremely disappointed. But with Stim, I know what he is.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Everybody knew what he was. I think Bronco Country was trying to hold out fate that he could do it. But that didn't happen. Man, stop. Well, I think everybody probably in Cancun by now, huh? They definitely probably out of Denver. I mean, but a lot of people, now, Ocho, they live in the city where they play. We, a lot of us, we went home.
Starting point is 00:44:56 I mean, you know, we were home. I think I've been to Denver one time. Denver's a nice city. Denver is a nice city. I wasn't able to see everything they have to offer, but the little bit I did see it's a nice place. Food was good. The people were very nice.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Everything was very, very green. Obviously, I'm sure it's cold and snow in there right now. But it was cool. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He has to come back. He's going to have to fix that. What happened? I mean, he doesn't have any come from behind victories
Starting point is 00:45:32 when he's down by eight points in the fourth quarter. Oh, yeah. Now, it didn't help that he had some, you know, he had CJ Bethard and he had some guys that he was trying to win with. But I would have thought that with Jimmy G or a purdy, that we'd have at least one or two.
Starting point is 00:45:54 But I think it just goes to show you the greatness of Patrick Mahomes. That's what this tells me, because he's at the top of the chart. The guppies won four-70. The who? The guppies. You talk about the dolphins. Oh, my bad.
Starting point is 00:46:18 I am. I mean, they just as bad as the ponies, then. No, no, no, don't do that. just saying. Don't do that. We last time you all want to playoff game. Oh, what's the point? What's the point?
Starting point is 00:46:31 What's the point? What's the point? What the last time you were to playoff? Y'all didn't even make the playoffs. We didn't make the playoff, but y'all right back at home. Y'all right with us. With Joe, y'all got Joe Burrow. You say Joe one of the top three quarterbacks and y'all can't make a playoff?
Starting point is 00:46:43 No, got hurt this year. Don't do that. What about, about last year? Did he get hurt? Yeah, he was hurt last year, too. Oh. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't do that. You talk about the guppies.
Starting point is 00:46:54 I mean, we talk about your ponies. Because the same place of Dolph is at, the same place the Broncos at right now. Nah, y'all been underwater. We just got there. Well, we got there two weeks, two weeks before y'all. What's the difference? What's there? Now, ain't no different.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Y'all got there three weeks before us. We all in the same place right now. That's all that matter.
