For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey.
Starting point is 00:02:00 It's the people. It's the failures. It's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everybody. Daniel Jeremiah here. And I'm Bucky Brooks.

Joe Flacco! Yeah, we'll start ahead. But not for the Cleveland Browns, for your Cincinnati Bengals.
Starting point is 00:03:11 He will start Sunday at Green Bay. Bengals head coach Zach Taylor announced Cincinnati successfully completed a rare intra-division trade Tuesday. They sent a 2026 fifth round draft pick to the Browns in exchange for Flacko and a 2026, sixth round draft pick. This is how rare it's in. I think in this century, only twice as it happened. The New England Patriots traded Drew Bledsoe to the Buffalo Bills.
Starting point is 00:03:39 The Philadelphia Eagles traded Donovan McNabb to the Washington. They were not the commanders at the time. You know what they were, but he got traded intra-division. So only three times as a quarterback that I can think of a trade like this going down. uh jake brown uh here's ocho here's jake browning who you said was going to lead y'all to where y'all needed to go on his demotion yeah uh okay uh let's run down let's run down what happened joe flacco was traded um ocho's guy um wasn't being able to jake browning
Starting point is 00:04:22 was not being able to hold up to it. Because what was supposed to happen, your backup is supposed to be able to keep you afloat until your starter comes back. That's what a backup is supposed to do. That didn't happen. So the Cincinnati Bing was like, look, we've got a lot of money invested in Chase and Higgins,
Starting point is 00:04:40 and we gave 14 more million dollars to a Trey Hendrickson. So we need to try to maximize this. We can't just give up on the season because our quarterback is not fulfilling his obligation, which is to keep us afloat to if and win. and Joe, excuse me, Joe Burrow came back. Doesn't look like that was happening. And so they made the move.
Starting point is 00:04:59 So Cleveland said Joe Flacko and the 26th, sixth round draft pick and returned the Bengals send them a 2026 fifth round draft pick. We got it loaded now? We're getting it right for you guys right now, how Jake Browning is taking his department. motion from being the starter to now be in the backup in Cincinnati. Are you first? Yeah, I'm trying to respond the right way.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Obviously, I'm pissed. And if I wasn't pissed, then I shouldn't be in this locker room. And it's important to me. And, you know, I'm aware of the role I played in the offensive struggles over the last few weeks. And, you know, but I'm also not shouldering the entire situation. And, you know, I went through yesterday, watched my throws. tried to come up with some stuff that I want to work on and just doing that. Okay, Joe, the thing a quarterback's supposed to do, say, look, it's on me.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I did not play. Don't say I'm not going to shoulder all of the blame. We know all the blame is not on you. But in that moment, when you're in front of the camera, as the leader of that offense, you say, look, that's on me. I didn't play well enough to get the job done. So I understand why the Bengals made that decision. If and when my time comes back up, I'll be more.
Starting point is 00:06:22 prepared, and I promise you, Bengals fans, this organization, my teammates, I won't let you down. Take off, Joe. I mean, listen, obviously, most of the time in that situation, as a quarterback, being the face, being that Joe Burrow is absent, you have to take on this. You have to take all that on your shoulder because you are the quarterback, because much is expected of you once you are at that position and you are the one who handles the ball the most outside of everyone else. With that being said, you look at our team.
Starting point is 00:06:52 where we are right now. We're two and three. We still have time to be able to salvage the season. I think them continue to stick with Jake Browning based on the last two performance that we've seen,
Starting point is 00:07:03 it would have been malpracticed by the coaches. I think Zach Taylor might be on the hot seat. Listen, it's not funny. This is a serious matter. This is not a laughing matter. For us, the fans are impatient. I'm impatient. I think upstairs they're also impatient
Starting point is 00:07:20 because they've invested money in that office line. investing money in Joe Burrow. They invested money in T and Jamar Chase and other, especially offensively in general. And they want to see a return on that investment. Correct. Joe Burroughs down. Joe Burroughs down. Next man up. The next man up is not playing well at all. So we're two and three right now. What do you want to do? We want to get someone else who is a veteran presence that has won a Super Bowl. Maybe they come in and steer the ship. They keep it from sinking, similar to like the Titanic. We don't want to hit an iceberg.
Starting point is 00:07:52 So can Joe Flacco come in and steer the ship and dodge a few icebergs? Now, we might sink a little bit, but we don't want to just go all the way goddamn under. We're going to see what can happen. It all starts with, number one, we have a gunslinger at the quarterback position that has a hell of a arm. Yes. But he's not mobile. No. Jake Browning was mobile, and he was running for his life.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Yes. Joe Flacko ain't get away from anything. My officer line, if you guys do. see this, I beg of you, I implore you to raise your level of play for us offensively to have any success moving forward, starting right now this week against that Packers defense. Ooh. Gary. Oh, Micah.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Oh, Mikea Parsons. Oh, Wyatt. Oh, my God. My Bengals officer line, we need to set the tone. We need to set the tone, all five of you, Orlando Brown. Come on, baby. You got to come to the party. brother mims you got to come to the party right guard left guard tear carris we got to come to
Starting point is 00:09:00 the party as we go as the officer line goes our team goes the game of football is one up front is one in the trenches and for us to continue to continue to compete not only the afc north but the NFL in general for the rest of the season we have to win up front that's what it starts with if we went up front. Everything else becomes easy offensively. I can tell looking at the chat that there are not a lot of leaders out there
Starting point is 00:09:31 because they're looking to obstacle blame. If you go look just look at the quarterbacks and how they talk. Jalen Hertz, watch out when they lose a game how he talks. With Brady and Manning and all these quarterbacks lose, look how they talk. It's on them.
Starting point is 00:09:47 You don't talk about I don't shoulder all the blame. You said it's on me. I need to play better and I will. I understand why the organization did what they did because I wasn't getting the job done. Yes, sir. If and when I get another opportunity. Oh, Joe, the only reason he's on the roster
Starting point is 00:10:03 is that when Joe Burr got hurt last time, he did a well enough job and say, you know what, we got a backup. If Joe goes down for three to four weeks, we got a guy that can hold it in the road for us. Yeah, he will cut down. We have a self-driving car. I've been seeing a lot of self-driving cars late.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I'm like, hold on. I saw the car driving around, Ocho. I'm looking at it, I said, hold on, wait a minute. Ain't nobody driving. Right, right, right, right. And the car pulled up to the thing and stopped and somebody got out. I said, I heard people talk about it, Ocho, but that's my first time seeing one. You never saw it.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Right, right. Man, they're going. So that's what, that's what Jake Browning was. He was a self-driving kind of like, man, Joe out. Jake got this. We saw him against Jacksonville. You remember that Thursday night game, Ocho against Jacksonville? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:49 He played well. that's what gave you the confidence to say what you were saying because you had seen him in moments like this rise to the occasion play extremely well I don't know what happened because here's the thing what you expectations are the number one killer yeah of dreams and hopes and aspirations because see it's easy and I tell guys all the time I see you know what the easiest thing I ever did was make the Pro Bowl because nobody was expecting it now guess what has happens when they build a game plan around you and the defense build a game plan to stop you.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Wait, hold on. Stay right there because I know you for the cook. Hold on now. Hold on. Let me tell you something. I got my pen and pad. I know you from the cook. Go ahead now.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So that's what happens, Ocho. So you see what happened? Expectations. Jake Browning had immense expectations. Why, Ocho? Because the Cincinnati Bengals have immense expectations. Even though Joe Burroughs down, they believe, man, we have enough offensively to write this ship until Joe gets back. We got chased.
Starting point is 00:11:59 We got the best receiving football. We believe we got another top 15 receiving football. We got a guy that can run the ball. There ain't no reason for us to be scoring three points, ten points, be down 34 to three going into the fourth quarter with the offensive weapons that we got. Right. So now the expectations, and you feel that living up, see, Ocho, it was easy. Your kids, see, your kids got expectations you never had. Your dad, your dad, Ocho Cinco?
Starting point is 00:12:31 Yeah, the pro bowler, the one that's on nightcap. Yeah. Now they got expectations you didn't have to deal with. Your mom, your people are like, they might say, oh, you Hurricane Paul, Paul Lee, Paul, son. but now you put so much expectations on your kids because the only people in the neighborhood knew your mom knew your grandma you're a worldwide commodity they see that last name they say hold on shanelle what's your relationship to ocho that's my dad that's your dad now what you play you play you play what you do so what you do in sports right right what you want you're
Starting point is 00:13:17 be when you grow up now you see jake brown and had those expectations with that offense he was supposed he wasn't supposed to be joe burrow he was just supposed to be that self-driving car to keep it in the road oh you just don't crash yeah that's all you got to do son i don't even need you to win this race just get the car around the track and don't crash that's a good keep it in first gear see i told you it's fun to cook because see i already know what's going to happen when you get the God, man, you're going to either burn the clutch out and you're going to script the gear. What you're going to do, Ocho?
Starting point is 00:13:51 What are you going to do? Go on that. Hold on. I don't need you to win the race. I just need you to get the car around the track. Well, that's a bar. Get it around the track. That's a bar.
Starting point is 00:14:01 You don't even understand. You don't even understand what you just did. Let me write this down. Hold on, man. What? God damn, boy, you need to be a pastor. Hey, I don't, Jake. I don't need, Jake, you think we need you to be 15 and 2?
Starting point is 00:14:14 Right. Get us the 10. Can you get us the level? Can you get us to 10 and 7? Get us to 10 and 7? What's up, everybody? Daniel Jeremiah here. And I'm Bucky Brooks. On Move the Sticks, we take you inside the game from scouting reports and player development

That was my other big takeaway from that game.
Starting point is 00:15:42 What was that? It looks like something that should not be sold. Oh, my. So that was my other big Colts. They sold that? Yes. Might want to go back to the At the Colt Stadium.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Yeah, I might want to go back to the drawing board on that. Yeah. I thought the shape we had with pretzels was working pretty well. It's worked for generations. We're just here trying to enjoy it. We hope you all will join us throughout the year.
Starting point is 00:16:01 And let's go. I hope I'm as youthful as Pete Carroll is at his age. He's a young 73. He is a young 73. He is Sprite. I would say. I would. Listen NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin

Starting point is 00:18:26 Toyota, the official automotive partner of the NFL. Visit Toyota.com slash NFL now to learn more. 10 and 7 might be something we can look at. Yeah. Yeah. Especially with the answer to know. The Texans are one and four. The Titans one and four.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Okay, they got two teams in that division are playing really well. You got the AFC South, you got the Jags, and you got the Colts. They're cutting up. They cutting up. It's funny, two of the teams are always three and four, now one and two. Battling with a chance to win that division in the AFC South. Well, obviously, let me take that back because when Peyton Manor was there, they dominated the AFC South. For sure, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Remember just said as of recent. It hasn't been like that. No, no, no, no, no. Basically since Andrew Luck left, it hadn't been like that. Hey, listen, I'm excited. You think about what we are, too, as a Bengal fan. I'm sure we have some Bengal fans in the chat and just fans of football in the chat in general. If you think about us in Whipyar right now, we're at the bottom, we're at the bottom.
Starting point is 00:19:29 There's nowhere else, there's no other place we can go but up from this point on. Based on what we saw last week, there's only one place we can go. We got flack over there. I'm optimistic. I'm optimistic. What choice do you have, Ocho? Right. And then a lot of people,
Starting point is 00:19:43 you got some people, obviously, I hear some bank of fans, oh, why we go get Joe Flack? Oh, there were no viable options. They're talking about, well, why didn't we get anybody who could run? Why didn't we get anybody mobile? Who's out there?
Starting point is 00:19:53 Yeah. That is mobile. Call Amazon. It's not there. It's not there. Exactly. This ain't the same madness is real life. This is real life.
Starting point is 00:20:02 What we need is not like quarterbacks or like goddamn apple tree. You just go pick one you won't to replace the next one. That is one of the reasons why it's so difficult. to not only find a quarterback, but find a transcending generational talent like a Joe Burrow. You can't replace it.
Starting point is 00:20:20 No. You can't replace the Lamar Jackson if he's injured, as you can see with the Ravens struggling. You can't replace a goddamn Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes or Justin Herbert. You can. But can we get a Carson Wentz? Can he do what Carson Wins is doing for the Minnesota Vikings
Starting point is 00:20:38 until J.J. McCarthy comes back because he's making it. on Kevin O'Connell to put J.J. McCarthy ass back in the ball game considering how well he's actually playing. Since J.J. McCarthy's been out. More touchdowns, fewer interceptions. That's what it is. Now, look, in this situation, you're not going to make it difficult for them not to put Joe Burrow ass back in there. He's making far too much money, and he's a far superior quarterback to what you are. But with that being said, bro, you got to, this is how bad, this is how bad Jake Browning is. his QBR is actually higher than Joe Flacko.
Starting point is 00:21:15 But when you desperate, oh, show, hey, somebody say, man, look, if one aspirin, if two aspirin kill, uh, clean, uh, will kill your headache, you'll, you won't have a headache and say an hour. Well, and, and that's what Jerry Krauss, uh, Jerry Rinesdorf asked Michael Jordan, but it's a true analogy. You know, one aspirin, take two aspirins. some pain should subside in a couple of hours. Well, if I take 10, it's probably going to kill you. And he asked Mike, would you take 10? He said, well, how bad is my headache?
Starting point is 00:21:50 Ooh. A desperate person will do a desperate thing. Desperate teams do desperate things. This was a desperate move because the actuality, the quarterback that you had starting is actually playing better than the quarterback you're replacing it with. But you see, when you get desperate, don't you? When you get desperate, you make desperate.
Starting point is 00:22:08 decisions. You don't think clearly. You don't see clearly. All I know is that my guy isn't playing well. Well, let's grab that guy. You do realize that guy got benched also. Yes. I can see if you got a, hey, I want to trade for your starter. No, you traded for a guy that got benched. Can I say something? Yes. We traded for a guy that got bench, obviously. But the guy that got bench that's coming to the Bengals has a much better supporting cast around him right now. Now, again, the one issue I did say, because despite coming here to a much better supporting cast, if that front four or that front five, what it is five, don't do what they need to do.
Starting point is 00:22:51 They're not. And be a wall for two seconds. Give me a wall for two seconds. That's all I need. Give me two. If you can give me two, we can do something with one and five. Well, you better keep Flacco in the shotgun because they're going to take him long
Starting point is 00:23:07 and the three to get in his drop, backped him. That's fine. That's fine. We can put it back in the shotgun. So we can already process. So we can already process. He can see what's in front of him right away. And it doesn't take him that much long to get that ball out.
Starting point is 00:23:21 And you know one thing about Flacco, boy, he got an arm on him. Oh, he can throw it now. He can still make all the throws. Now, he's going to throw chasing Higgins about three. Now he's going to throw the other team about two. Now, it's just a matter whether they're going to catch him or not. Because he's going to give everybody, he's an equal opportunity employer. He believes in DEI, diversity, equity, inclusion.
Starting point is 00:23:40 So he's going to diversify, touchdown, the interception. He's going to make sure it's equality, and he's going to include the defense and what the hell he's doing. So I'm just letting y'all know, a bingo fan. Listen, you remember him when he was at the Ravens? You remember him when he was at Cleveland. You already know, and you just got a glimpse of him earlier this year. So you know who and what he is. so if you think you're going to get
Starting point is 00:24:02 2012 playoff flacko he was never ever able to replicate he could never really put a regular season together like he could those playoff runs also he had some of the great playoff runs a crazy work in the playoffs crazy work but again you think about what he had offensively with the Ravens
Starting point is 00:24:22 even back then with that playoff run yeah I could just I can honestly I can honestly say throughout the entirety of his career he never had nothing like he got working with right now no no no no no he had a better offensive line but he didn't have you know um i'm trying to think who was his running back back then i don't even remember who was running back was i know an quam boulder was one of the receivers 27 27 ray rice yes i believe so okay i believe so yeah but i think the thing is ocho he's going to need
Starting point is 00:24:54 time to throw like you said he doesn't have mobility he's not a guy that you can move i mean are you going to move the pocket with him. You can't zone read with him. I mean, you're limited. Basically, hey, Ocho, he's a dropback. He's a prototypical 70s, 80 dropback quarterback. That's what he is. He's not like these quarterbacks that we have. And they all the quarterbacks they are slightly mobile, some more than noble or others. But Ocho, he is what he is in you. Yeah. I mean, listen, even though Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow ain't goddamn Josh Allen, but his ability to manipulate the pocket and feel pressure and being able to escape it and make throws down the field, it's second to none.
Starting point is 00:25:32 He's really good at escaping the pocket despite not being the considered dual threat that those quarterbacks I just name are. Listen, I'm hoping we do well in the onus. It all comes down to the officer line. Yeah. As they go, the better they play, the better we play offensively. I think they're going to try to you look. You go in the draft and you try to draft an offensive lineman.
Starting point is 00:25:52 If somebody comes available, you know, Ocho, in free agency, if you get somebody to come to your team, you have to overpay. because you're asking this man to uproot where he's been the last three, four, five years, six years, seven years, where he's gotten comfortable. He's established himself in the community. If he has a wife, his wife is an interest in the community. You've got kids. They got friends and they've been in school. So you're going to have to overpay to get one of those guys or an offensive tackle or a guard or a center to come join your team.
Starting point is 00:26:19 So you're going to have to overpay to get one of those guys. And then, you know, you're going to draft and you try to find the best offensive linemen because you're going to be drafting. pretty high up if this thing doesn't get turned around, Ocho. Unfortunately, that's, that's, you know, you might end up being a top 10, and I don't know, like I said, I haven't seen any projections just yet, but there might be a situation where you have to go in and take a lineman in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Now, we know, look, Anthony Munoz is the best offensive lineman that they've had. Willie, I know, hey, I know Big Willie. Big Willie. He from my home state, went to Auburn, but you guys need, you guys need an offensive line bad, Ocho. Yeah, we do. We do. We do. I'm just hoping those young bulls, those young bulls that we do have, especially those that
Starting point is 00:27:01 have gotten paid, they've been paid a nice ransom. I'm hoping they can show up and pay dividends, you know, and play like the money that they've received so far. I'm excited for them, obviously getting Joe Burrow, despite where we are right now, we're still two and three. The season is salvageable. I know what Joe can do, but the only way to allow Joe to cook, the only way he can be that chef, the head chef is he needs a little time.
Starting point is 00:27:27 If he get a little time up, you give Joe any time, boy, he is surgical with that ball. That's for any of you that in the chat, that no football. Even though he can't move, he got an arm on him. Yes. He got two of the best, he got the best, maybe arguably depending on who you ask, the best dude to throw to. So I'm excited. I'm optimistic. And we can't go anywhere but up from here because we at the bottom of the barrel right now.

Starting point is 00:31:57 now kevin stephansky was non-committal on whether rookie steward sanders or practice squad bailey zappi would be the team's backup quarterback in the aftermath of trading joe flacko to the bingles stephansky said he would let let the play let the week play out and make the decision later when asked about qb2 role stephansky also would not say that he would not say that he would not say if the team would sign Zappi to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game so that one of the backups would serve as the inactive emergency quarterback.
Starting point is 00:32:30 Oh, Joe, what are we doing? It's already been reported that Bailey Zappy was taking a lot of the practice squad snaps. Yeah. Listen, Kevin Stefansky is really enjoying this moment. Kevin Sophanke is making the Browns organization, basically Jerry Springer. He's making it basically more important.
Starting point is 00:32:51 when Maury Povins does the goddamn DNA test and the girl or the girl gets up screaming and they run around with the camera. Yeah, yeah. That's exactly what he's making. He's making a mockery of the situation and enjoying it. Yeah. He's enjoying it. Just announced the goddamn quarterback, who's quarterback number two?
Starting point is 00:33:09 If Bailey Zabby, you've been taking the practice reps knowing that Shador, Joe Flack, I'm gone. And Sadoo was already number three and goddamn Dillard, Gabriel, goes to number one. And Joe Flack, I'm going. Then that makes God damn Sturor Number two, why are we playing these goddamn mind games? Like, what do you, what do we do?
Starting point is 00:33:25 My thing was, Ocho, if he was, let's just say for the sake of argument, Joe Flacco started. Okay, when Joe Flacco was there, Joe Flecker was one, Bailey Zappie was two, excuse me, Dylan Gabriel was two, should do it was three. But the report said Bailey Zappi was getting the practice squad. They signed them off somebody else team and put him on their practice squad. He comes in or taking reps that should do or should be getting. So with that being said, I understood the assignment. Ain't no way Dylan Graber going to be taking all those reps and somehow come game, come out of this regular season.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Shouldaura Santa's going to pole vault in front of him. So if Bailey Zappy is taking those reps, practice squad reps, Ocho, what's the likelihood? Now, I'm not saying it can't happen, but what's the likelihood. Hey, I don't know what they're doing. I don't know. I'm not so sure. I'm not so sure Cleveland know what they do it. Maybe they're waiting on Deshaun to come back.
Starting point is 00:34:17 I don't know. It says he's been out there, he's been throwing. And I don't know, Ocho. But I just know, look, they've made a mockery of this. We've talked about Cleveland more in the first six weeks of this year than we have at any point in time and it's not all good. But I don't know what, I really don't know what to make of this.
Starting point is 00:34:39 It's we're going to let it play out. What I'm trying to, what you're going to let play out? I can see if this was a training camp battle, Locho. and let it play out. I'm trying to figure out what can someone do in a week of practice, Ocho, that's going to change your mind from where you stand right now to move like, oh, well, he had a great week of practice. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Whoopty-do. Nothing at all. Again, that's why I said they're making a mockery of a situation. That's all. What's going on, guys, built this little mini gym? It's not a, it's, uh, They're asking him, they're asking Shadour, uh, what, what do you know, what do you mean? As that's Dylan Gabriel. You ask him, what do you think about? I'm not playing.
Starting point is 00:35:32 As Dylan Gabriel, what does he think about Joe Flacko being traded? Why are you asking me? I'm the backup to the backup that got, they just got started. See, they're always trying to put a microphone because they're always trying to get him to slip up. They're always trying to catch him off his guard, don't you? They try to, they, they, they always try it. They don't ask, they don't ask any other quarterback. They don't ask the third string or they don't ask the practice squad guy. What do you think about somebody getting traded? But somehow, the microphone always seemed to find your door. They're hoping he mess up. They hope he has a proverbial slip. You see, that's why he's not starting. You see, he needs to keep his mouth closed. You see,
Starting point is 00:36:11 this is why he, what he is a new cycle. It's the last name in general. They have haven't had somebody this polarizing that's not even in, that's not even in an important role as of yet, they never had anybody like this before. They haven't. And they don't even know how to handle the situation in general. Most of the time in a situation like this, when you have something as polarizing, a polarizing figure like that, you do everything you can to stay away from it. But no, they're engaging with it in purpose to keep the Cleveland Browns in the news cycle,
Starting point is 00:36:44 no different than the goddamn Dallas Cowboys. Right. No damn different. Man, if I should do, I say, look, man, and when I'm starting, when, when coach Stephansky tell me I'm starting, then I'll talk to you guys. What other backup quarterback they're talking to? You can't do that, though.
Starting point is 00:36:59 But you understand the rules, though. You know, you understand the rules. But I'm trying to figure out, Ocho, I'm trying to think, they're not asking James Winston, no question. They're not asking Russ any question. Now, all the questions are the Jackson Dart. Right, right. So my only thing is, okay, so why do you continue?
Starting point is 00:37:16 ask a backup that's not playing while you continuously asking, why are you continuously asking them questions? What do you hope to get from him? I can tell you what they're hoping. I can tell you. I know what they're hoping also. Hey, they're hoping like when you go to the army, like when you go to the Marines, like when you go to the Navy, they're trying to break you in the beginning to see if you are the one. Are you built for this mentally? That's all. They're waiting on the snap, huh? They're waiting on the new snap. I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:37:51 He has to understand it. I can see the play. I can see the play all the way. I can see the play way before it happened, all the way before a start. How can you not see it if you understand the game and the game that they're playing? I can see it in clear as day.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Your owner coming out and saying some of the things he said and he got training camp. Oh, I see what this is. Okay, now I got to play the game. I see what you're all trying to do. Right. You got to play the game. And now you're in their structuring environment.
Starting point is 00:38:19 You got to play by their rules. Yeah. You're right. Hey, listen, even I was in that position at one point. Mm-hmm. My feet ain't wet. I got my toe in the water. I got my toe in the water, but my feet ain't wet just as if yet.
Starting point is 00:38:34 But once I got in the water fully, oh, but you've seen you've seen your every bit of day County Liberty City come up out of me. Oh, Cho, we got breaking news. Another major trade between the Jags and the Browns. Jaguars get cornerback Greg Newsom and Jets' 2026, 6th round picks from the Brown. Browns get Tyson Campbell, the Eagles 2026, 7th round picks from the JAG. The trade partners from the night of the 2025 draft now pull off another mid-season trade. Hey, listen, that's a good try.
Starting point is 00:39:06 That's a good trade. Now, I don't understand why they were. For the Jags, yeah, the Jags going for it. Oh, yeah, listen, especially for the Jags. And this is the thing I would get ready to say. Greg Newsom is a phenomenal, huh? For sure. Greg Newsom ain't no slouts.
Starting point is 00:39:21 You know, we understand what Denzel Ward is on the other side, but when they try to go to Greg Newsom's side, but that young boy can play some ball. So this is a win for the Jags. And with great understanding on why they did it, it's because, oh, we're going to push all our chips to the front. We're pushing all our chips to the front because we really believe we have a chance right now
Starting point is 00:39:41 with the way Trevor Lawrence is playing. Yep. That's respectable. And if you're a Jaguars fan, I commend ownership. I commend your GM and I commend your goddamn head coach. They don't push all eight chips on the table. We going in. Hey, uh-unct, the chat funny as hell, unc.
Starting point is 00:39:59 What happened? They just been going in on you. They go in on me. I look like Debo. I look like a Mexican with his damn flat on all. What are they going on me for? What I do? No.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Go ahead. What I do, Ocho? Oh, they're killing me. What they say I do? Hold on, chat. What I do? I was just asking, I was just asking questions. Damn, I can't ask no questions.
Starting point is 00:40:26 It ain't funny, boy. Look, I know you guys think, but here's the real. When it comes to track and feel, I don't have a research team. I'm old enough to remember. Y'all, I'm 57. So I go all the way back. I remember the 84 Olympics. I remember Seoul.
Starting point is 00:40:46 I remember Barcelona. I remember Atlanta. I remember Athens. I remember Sydney was in 2000. Athens was 104. Beijing was eight. London was 12. Rio was 16.
Starting point is 00:40:59 21. I remember what y'all want me to do. I remember the world championships when they came out. I'm sorry that y'all can't remember your way home. That is my fault. I've told you, If you know Shannon Sharp, if you watch me at any point in time, I told people, my favorite sport is track and field.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Yes, I love football. And I know the history of football. I know the history of basketball. But I love track and field. It's I plan around the track and field. I mean, if I didn't really have to talk about football, I'd go to the gym. But when tracking field on, I ain't going nowhere. It's the only sports that I watch with the sound.
Starting point is 00:41:38 No other sport will I watch with the sound. And for them to take their time out to come on nightcap, what are the platform other than my boy, Justin Gatlin, his partner, that give track and field athletes the platform like we do. Well, yeah, you're right. You're right by that. I'm sorry that, you know, I ask questions that I think the chat would want to hear. What do you eat?
Starting point is 00:42:00 What are your training sessions like X, Y, and Z? Yes. So I'm just, I'm confused at what y'all think I'm supposed to do. Like stutter or go through it? Yes, there are no notes on here with Anna Hall. I know who she is. I know she was a Florida alum. I know she's from Colorado.
Starting point is 00:42:19 I mean, yeah, y'all don't worry about it, uncle. They still killing me. They told me I look like Jody from baby boy. Man, people weird. I mean, like, like I'm not supposed to ask any questions. Like I was supposed to be like, uh, uh, uh, uh, what do you, what are you like? No, I know, I know the history. I can't wait for us to have Ryan Krauser on.
Starting point is 00:42:39 So I can talk to him about the shot. The greatest shot putter ever. Anna was talking about the Jackie's record that she said in Soul, 7291, seems unbreakable. That woman shot putter, the USSR, ain't nobody breaking that one. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:43:04 No. And you know what? You know what's funny? Is the same way you are about track and field? one of the one sporting one of the one of the one you like that about soccer oh my god well as soccer come on my phone
Starting point is 00:43:16 don't do not disturb on Saturdays this Sunday I'm mad I fly to London in the morning my flight at 5 o'clock I'm mad that I'm going to London and everybody on goddamn international break everybody on international break so it was a perfect time for me to catch a goddamn
Starting point is 00:43:32 guy I can sneak and go catch a game everybody's on Ocho does this mean we'll see Travis full time on offense. Greg Newsom was the number 26 pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Tyson Campbell was picked 33 in that same draft, just seven picks apart. You know what? I'm curious what they're going to do because they have a phenomenal knicker in Jordan
Starting point is 00:43:53 Lewis, right? I'm not sure who's on the other side, but you know, Greg Newsom is coming in on one side and he's going to be that guy, that guy that guy can do it. I still think they know Travis Hunter wants to continue to contribute on defense. I think he'll continue to have those packages. They're going to find ways to fit him in there at some point. But what we saw offensively, he's too dynamic, huh? They have to find ways to get in the ball on offense.
Starting point is 00:44:20 He's too dynamic. You put the ball in the area, anywhere in the vicinity. He's going to make that play, especially don't jump balls that are ready to 50. Where he can showcase his athleticism. Yeah, they become 80-20 with somebody like that. Yeah, so, I mean, listen, he's too dynamic, you know, and showing flashes of brilliance in which we saw at Colorado on both sides of the ball. So I hope they allow them to continue doing this thing on both sides,
Starting point is 00:44:45 have given them a healthy, a healthy count on both sides of the ball. We're going to be effective and efficient, but they don't overload him. And he's able to play at his best on both sides. And that's what it comes down to because they need a special player. on one side of the ball or other. It doesn't work for them if he's average on both sides of the ball, Ocho. He has to be dynamic on one of the other. Right.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Because that's why you traded up, that's why you gave up what you gave up to get it. Because if you gave up what you get it and you just got an average player, that doesn't make sense to me. So let him be dynamic. Let him be dynamic. And then you're like you said,
Starting point is 00:45:25 bring him in on a package. Me personally, I still think he's better at defense. I think his instincts, his ball skills are just second to none. I know you like it because of the jump ball, but right now it's just athleticism. Now, once he learns the route tree, I give a prime example. Tyreek, remember when Tyreek first came in, he was a gadget guy?
Starting point is 00:45:44 And then all of a sudden, Tyreek learned the route tree. Tyreek has played his way into a Hall of Famer. Yeah, absolutely. Travis Hunter has that kind of ability. He just got to get better at running the right. Right now they only run in most spots and jump balls. Yeah, if I could get, if I get, Trave, I know you're going to see this. If I can get with you in the all season.
Starting point is 00:46:03 Yeah. I don't need my time, Trave, I need you for two months. Two months. We work in four days a week. All I need is an hour. I owe your time for four weeks. I know you already have your train. I'm not trying to step on nobody toes.
Starting point is 00:46:16 I'm talking about running routes. Yeah. I'm talking about giving an illusion of doing something that you really not at full speed. Oh, my goodness, brother, what I could do with you. Oh, my goodness, what I could do with you. Hope we take you up on that, Ocho. And listen. Now, you know that's my specialty now.
Starting point is 00:46:31 I do. man hey trav come on hollet your boy in the off-season I don't need much time a hour day that's it rock running I wish they would come up and play press
Starting point is 00:46:44 come on up here if you want to shh oh Joe just days after his most embarrassing moment of the season chief pass rusher Chris Jones addressed why he didn't give maximum effort on the Jaguars game winning touchdown Jones says it's a teaching point for me
Starting point is 00:46:59 the little adversity I think I can't think the play is over. It's a learning lesson. I thought it was over. I thought we had him down. So I kind of stopped and was about to celebrate. Then I realized he wasn't down. Chris Jones is one of the core leaders of the chief.
Starting point is 00:47:14 And to see him take a playoff in that situation, doesn't seem real. Does some up. But for me, I thought they were going to let him score. That's what I would have done, Ocho. That way, hey, let them score right now. I need maximum time. But I think it kind of off guard that they, They was passing the ball instead of running it.
Starting point is 00:47:34 So maybe, maybe CJ and I'm looking at it, this is me thinking for him. Right. Because it's hard for me to believe that I saw it in real time. I was like, damn, CJ. But I thought that, and maybe they did think that they were going to run the ball. And I think they were a little surprised that the chiefs passed the ball. But in a situation like that, you know, you can't assume. He knows that.
Starting point is 00:47:59 I mean, he knew that, but not. he really knows that and you know obviously Andy had to talk red had to talk to him it's just not a good look and he knows that you're talking about one of the premier deep tackles a three-time soup bowl champ a multiple-time all-pro player he's probably he's more than likely going to be the all-pro defensive tackle of the 2020s can't have that on your resume right like he said it's it's a teachable moment I don't think I don't think we'll we'll have that issue with CJ again Mm-hmm. Yeah. I mean, listen, you think about how many of 65 snaps. I'm not sure how many play on defense. Yeah. All of them, all of them aren't 100% effort, but you can't look like you did on that play.
Starting point is 00:48:45 No. No, no, no, no, no, no. There's a microscope on you being who you are. Aaron Donald's no longer playing, so you are considered widely as the best defensive tackle in the game. So there's a camera always on you from every goddamn angle. you're absolutely right Jones also said his social media accounts weren't deactivated
Starting point is 00:49:05 as an attempt to avoid criticism Ocho back in your date we didn't really have to deal with social media 24-7 the Twitter you know viral takes do you think athletes
Starting point is 00:49:16 in today's game face more criticism than they did in years past absolutely absolutely because not only you have to do with the media you have to deal with the fans as well now before the fans
Starting point is 00:49:27 had no way of having access to you. You didn't have to see it. You just have to hear it either on radio or on TV. Now you deal with much more, way more criticism and they critique you way more when you don't play well or things don't happen or you get hit hard or you fumble the ball. You got to deal with it from everybody and all the social media. So you have to have thick skin on. You have to have thick skin, especially to be a player in this era, especially to be a great player in this era. It has to go on one hand out the other. You have to be able to ignore it. At times, you have to be able to laugh at yourself and laugh at your mistakes in order to continue to function,
Starting point is 00:50:03 you know, at a high level and whatever respect of craft it is you're doing, just not football in general, you know, whether it be, you know, you're a rapper or you, you play, you play football, you play tennis, you, it's everything is everywhere now, you know, you become a meme. And sometimes you got, you got to take, take the jokes for what they are and you have to laugh at yourself and pick yourself up, dutch yourself off, and just go, again. Yeah. There's no question about it. Everybody that has a phone and have a social media account, they're a former NFL, NBA, MLB player, their former coach, their former general manager, their former B. So now everybody has an opinion and you can see their opinion to show
Starting point is 00:50:49 up in real time. You're absolutely right, Ocho, with the media. You're not getting away with anything. There was a time that the media would see a player doing something. Right. And it would never make the news. It would never make the papers. That ain't happening now. No. It's not happening.
Starting point is 00:51:06 If they see you do something, it's getting reported because everybody wants to be first. Everybody wants to break the story. They're like, it's going to get out anyway. Right. So let me be the first to get it. So there is no longer that bond that used to be between the great players and the reporters. That's over. That's over.
Starting point is 00:51:25 And now everybody has a camera. So you can't do, even if you want, wanted to get away with something, for the most part, it's hard to get away with stuff now. Right. Because just think about it, Jordan going out the night before and playing and gambling. Boy, that was going to be on somebody. Look at Michael Jordan before he played in the Knicks. This Michael Jordan at the blackjack table, y'all.
Starting point is 00:51:47 What's going on? Yeah. Cameras everywhere too now. Everywhere. The funny thing, knowing Jordan and how he was, his mannerisms, his persona in general, man, he wouldn't give to, you know what. Oh, absolutely. Why you think you don't see his ass out now?
Starting point is 00:52:03 Well, he really can't be out. He couldn't be out. Jordan hadn't been able, Jordan hadn't been able to be Mike Jordan since he was at UNC. Yeah. The moment he hit the league
Starting point is 00:52:18 he was a rap. And did that, it was over. Right, yeah. And Willie, when he got those red and black shoes, it was good night that ring. Yeah, it was a rap. It was a rap. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Think about it, Ocho, he can, he's really Michael Jackson. They've really never been able to enjoy. I mean, you've got to writ the whole movie theater. You want to go out to a movie, you got to written the whole theater out. You want to take the kid's skate, you've got to win the whole, the whole skating rink out. I couldn't live like that. It would be hard. Everything is on everything is on a microscope.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Just imagine how everything, how everything looks so big on the, microscope that's how you look into public eyes now that I don't mind I don't I'm kidding about the microscope because what you see is what you get what you see is what you get I don't I don't I don't play a character and this is just me but the whole not being able to go anywhere I am too sociable I love conversing with people I love I love seeing people and in in and saying I wouldn't be that way if you was that you don't think so well you can't why you couldn't be why you couldn't be like that kind of money. Boy, people will get you.
Starting point is 00:53:31 Oh, you're talking about the money, the money wise. Okay, okay, okay. Yeah. What person you don't have popular that don't have money? Hold on, hold on, hold on. I got money now. What you're saying? Not like that. Okay, okay. They are, uh, buddy chop your head off. Yeah, I got a question. What?
Starting point is 00:53:48 What can Michael, Jordan, LeBron do that I can't do? Go to the mall. They can't do that. Uh, uh, we just talked about it, man, what you can't do. You can't go.
Starting point is 00:54:17 You mean, you, you, you, but that's what you have to be able to do. If you were Jay Z, where Jay Z going to go? Where Beyonce going to go? What Taylor Swift going to go? You think Taylor Swift can, call up her girlfriend, girl, let's go to the mall. Girl, let's go get us a drink. Where are they going?
Starting point is 00:54:34 Yeah, I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I'm one of the first. I'm, I've always been accessible. I don't care how big I get, which is probably why God would never bless me with that type of wealth, because he knows damn well,
Starting point is 00:54:48 I'm going to be at the mall. He knows Dan where I'm going to be at the McDonald's Drive-thru. He knows where I'm going to be at every soccer game I can get to. It's not happening. He knows damn where I'm going to still be on my grandma porch, in Liberty City and have everybody driving around
Starting point is 00:55:01 and see if I'm sitting out there I'm not I can't I can't I mean you might be at there but you're going to have security
Starting point is 00:55:06 and then you're going to be up in a box you ain't going to be in the stands it ain't the same when you go to a sporting event especially you're not the same
Starting point is 00:55:16 you look at through the prison that you're the same you're not the same you can still have some of the same friends and y'all but they can
Starting point is 00:55:28 come to you. Right. They go someplace. They take the whole island over. You see most of the time you see them, where do you see them at? On the yacht. When you see Jay-Z, how many security you see with him? How many in that detail, that security detail? When you see Mike. Damn. That's, that's your
Starting point is 00:55:46 life now, Ocho. That is your life. It's private jets. It ain't no more spirit. It ain't no more in the airport. It's not anymore. Oh, so you're telling me if I reach that type of wealth, I can't fly a spirit no more? You're not flying that. That sounds good, but you're not sign that. You're not going to be worth a billion
Starting point is 00:56:02 dollars, $5 billion, $10 billion, $30 billion, and fly that. You're not. That's just like you don't buy to say, you buy Chrome Hart. You see what you spend your money on? And I guarantee you when you were younger, you're like, ain't no way I spent
Starting point is 00:56:18 this much money for a car. Wait a minute. I didn't buy Chrome Hearts. That was a gift for my baby. Hey, so everything that you got is a gift from your baby. the watches, that jury, that Cuban, that house you got all that gifts. Oh, no, no, no, exactly. You see, you see how you move accordingly to the resources.
Starting point is 00:56:42 So just imagine, I gave you two, you were $2 billion. Right now. Okay, let's reset. Let's hypothetically speaking. Okay. Okay. Okay. You got, you were $2 billion.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So tell me what you think I'm not going to do. You're not walking in a regular airport. You're going to fly private because you have the kind of means to fly private. And because you're not going to run, Ocho, you're not going to run the risk.
Starting point is 00:57:12 You're a high value target. Yeah. And I know why you think everybody is your friend. When you get that kind of money, you build up a lot of enemies also. Damn. I got, you think I got enemies right now? Hell yeah. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:57:28 And the more money you get, the more you get, the more dissension, dislike, jealousy, envy. But I'm a likable person. You could ask anybody in the world. What big is say, more money, more problems. He didn't say more money, more friends, more money, more problems. Right by that. You're right, but I just don't understand how anybody could not like me.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Like, what, I don't do. I want you to get a business. So that's the only way I'm going to get my $5900 back. Huh? That's the only way I'm going to get my $5900 back if you're going to be you. Not really. I get to you in that. But I told you, as long as I owe you, you'll never go broke.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Well. I just see it's better suited in my hands as opposed to yours. So you draw an interest on my money. I ain't drawing interest on your money, but I just got your best interest. You see how that work? I can show you that $59, man. I got you. I got you.
Starting point is 00:58:26 I got a few bills I need to pay. what you need to pay ain't none of $5,900 though I can loan you something if you need it Oh you're going to loan So you You owe me but you're willing to loan me money You're going to loan me my money
Starting point is 00:58:44 Chad how that makes sense Chad this man just told me he owe me money but he going to loan me my money Listen I ain't going to loan you the money I owe you I'm a loan you some money out of...
Starting point is 00:58:59 Oh, you will pay me and then loan me extra? Yeah, yeah. Oh, okay, okay. No, I'm good. Yeah, but I think, look, I think, I think everybody in our chat understands the level of scrutiny that these athletes face today. The older athletes didn't have to,
Starting point is 00:59:19 didn't have to worry about that. They didn't have to worry about that. They didn't have to worry about their business being... Because if somebody wanted to tell your business, where were they going? Mm-hmm. Oh, he had recording somebody's phone call. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:59:35 You're having somebody having cameras, you know, coming in and out. Hey, I was, that was a lot of that lately. I'm seeing a lot of that lately. Not sports blade in general, but I thought that was a federal offense. I thought that was a felony and recording someone. It all depends on what state you're in. Oh, okay. California, yeah, they tell you up with that.
Starting point is 00:59:56 You can't record, now, a call. Now, you have no, no, no, no leg to stand on in a public setting for privacy. You can't be out in the park and tell my man, don't film me. No. You can't be in the airport talking about don't film me. You do have a level of privacy in your own home. Okay. You do have a level, like some states, it only matter the person that's taping you, recording you.
Starting point is 01:00:26 know that that's happening. Other than that. So it all depends on the state. It varies from state to state. But this level of criticism and scrutiny that guys, Serena and the women's athletes and the men athletes today. Yeah. It's not even close.
Starting point is 01:00:49 Even Mike said it. Mike said he don't know how he would be able to function with this social media. No. Ocho, after five weeks, Sports Illustrated has dropped their NFL quarterback ranking. Here they are. Josh Allen is number one. Patrick Mahomes is number two. I'm only going to do the top ten.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Matthew Stafford is three. Lamar Jackson is four. Jared golf is five. Dak Prescott is six. Baker Mayfield is seven. Justin Herbert is eight. Jordan Love is nine. Drake May is 10.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Okay, just for the sake of our, we'll go through 15. uh jane uh daniel jones is 11 jane daniels is 12 sam donnell is 13th jane hurts is 14th cj stroud is 15 bow nix is 20 jake browning is 30 can i be honest with you yes i'm not sure when they made their list but daniel jones and baker mayfield belongs somewhere near the top along with josh oh yeah yeah if we're just talking about this year baker mayfield got to be in the top 5 Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen Whatever list this is and whatever it came out It was basically done so far
Starting point is 01:01:57 Up to this week and this week in the season Week 5 or week six, whatever Yes for sure Daniel Jones and Baker Mayfield deserved to be in the top of that Somewhere Sam Donald needs to be in there as well Yeah If we just if we're just talking baking it on this week
Starting point is 01:02:11 Right I'm not so sure that Baker Mayfield shouldn't be one I'm not we're not talking about Look we understand what Josh Allen's done We understand what Patrick Mahomes is done. We understand what Matthew Stafford is done. And we know the MVP that Lamar has done. But if we're basing it on the first five weeks of this season,
Starting point is 01:02:30 those guys haven't out played Baker Mayfield. I'm sorry. And y'all know how I feel about Patrick Mahomes. And I love everybody that they got ranked. But they have not played. There are not six quarterbacks playing better than Baker Mayfield. That is a lie. I don't care what your fan base is.
Starting point is 01:02:47 I don't care of you a bill. I don't care if you're a chiefs. I don't care if you, the Rams, you, uh, uh, Baltimore. There are not seven, six quarterbacks playing the quarterback position better than Baker Mayfield. They're not. Hell shit. Or, or Daniel Jones for, for that matter.
Starting point is 01:03:03 No, they're not. He's a surprise. I didn't know. I mean, I could be one of them. I was a culprit, you know, who felt he wasn't going to succeed. Yes. I thought he wasn't based on what we saw from him in New York. And for him to come to, to Indy and do what he's doing.
Starting point is 01:03:18 I'm like, man, what in the world? He doesn't flip the whole script in the AFC side. Mealy, he's playing phenomenal football, man. So I want to be the first to say, I apologize, and I was wrong. I told you he was going to start. The guy that's the incoming guy, the incumbent starter, which was Richardson, is making $4 or $5 million. They bring a backup in making $14 million,
Starting point is 01:03:43 and you think the guy that's making $14 million going to be on the bench. Oh, yeah, yeah. That wasn't likely. That's not happening. Ocho, with the game that you just watched, do you think Jalen Hurst is ranked appropriate at 14? Ooh. If you, we're, listen, we're not talking.
Starting point is 01:04:01 He won the Super Bowl. He's Super Bowl MVP. Based on what you've seen through the first five weeks of the season, has he played better than Sam Donald, Daniel Jones, Drake May, DeJord Laugh, has he played better than those guys? I'm glad you put it that way. I'm glad you put it that way. you know what he's appropriately ranked he's appropriately ranked based on what they ask of him
Starting point is 01:04:22 to do offensively what they ask him to do offensively where the numbers are not going to be like any of those guys that's that's ahead of him so what he's asked to do he is appropriately ranked right where he is if that makes sense all i know is they're not six they're not six quarterbacks that's currently playing the quarterback position better than shaking bait They're just not. What you call him? Shake and bake. They're not.
Starting point is 01:04:55 Look, look, we know Patrick Mahomes is the most accomplished. You know, three Super Bowl, three Super Bowl MVP's. You know, he's been in the Super Bowl five times. He's been in the AFC championship. Every year that he's been to start, he's never not been in the NFC championship game. We get all that. Lamar, the two-time league MVP. Josh Allen is a one-time league MVP.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Matthew Stafford led a team to the Super Bowl. I get all of that. And kudos. Those guys accomplished that, and you can't take that away from them. But I'm sorry, those guys are not playing the position better than Baker Mayfield is playing the position.
Starting point is 01:05:31 It's just that simple. Then ain't got nothing to do with what he might do moving forward. They said the first five weeks, that says after five weeks, Sports Illustrated dropped their quarterback ranking. So they're saying after five weeks of this year, 2025, nothing that happened 24 going back.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Nothing that's going to happen week six moving forward. They said the first five weeks of this season, Baker Mayfield's played better than everybody. Yeah. And he has. And the record is just, they only lost
Starting point is 01:06:03 one game. Josh Allen lost one game. Patrick Holmes. I don't know what they were. Lamar Jackson's one and four. Matthew Stafford. I think they've lost two games. Jerry Gosson lost the game. Dak, I think they're two, two, and one. Yeah, what about, with the Colts lost one, right? Coal's lost one, yes.
