Starting point is 00:02:53 Like everybody confirmed But you Now you playing When he don't confirm I'm going to go on my day Like He started talking That's crazy
Starting point is 00:03:02 What do you mean What am I supposed to do He started talking about He started talking about Shelvin and Vegas I'm mean what am i supposed to do he started talking about it he started talking about shelvin in vegas i'm already we just beat up with shelvin you did just skip right back yeah my crazy thing is bro i wasn't paying no attention to it that's what happened when i seen it this morning i was like wait he posted to me like right after that yeah i'm like shelvin in vegas cool that's what i was on so then when i got to my phone i don't mean when y'all do that emoji shit on top of the messages, bro,
Starting point is 00:03:28 I just, I don't fuck with that. So I don't really be caring about the notifications. Just say, yes, I'm good. Now I have a question. This is a great place to start.
Starting point is 00:03:37 If you said somebody a question, no, I'm saying via text and they hit the thumbs up emoji. Is that a valid response? Or is that out of pocket? Cause I know some people who take that as disrespect. I mean, it kind of is though. That's just uh shout out to kaya um i know kaya james somebody she sent somebody a happy birthday and they just hearted it they didn't say thank you she was pissed i do that shit
Starting point is 00:03:58 that's what i do so you just like some shit? Yeah, I mean, writing thank you just takes too long. Double clicking. I'm a copy-paste guy. You got no standby? Yeah. That takes too long. It's in my notes, bro. Thank yous in your notes?
Starting point is 00:04:14 Yeah. So on my birthday, everybody who texts my phone, I just copy and just paste it. Motherfuckers be tight, bro. You tell your mother, hey, birthday, have a great day. Enjoy it. Fireworks and shit, you just hit theuckers be tight, bro. You tell a motherfucker, happy birthday, have a great day, enjoy it. Fireworks and shit, you just hit the, you give them a heart.
Starting point is 00:04:29 It ain't no disrespect. I don't even send people happy birthday and stuff, though. Yeah. Yeah, I don't feel no type of ways about that stuff. I mean, if they send you a paragraph
Starting point is 00:04:38 and you hit the double tap, they gonna feel it, right? For sure. Yeah. Don't send me no paragraph. I'll be like, get the double tap for sure gonna feel it right for sure yeah don't send me no paragraph double tap for the show i hate phones i miss the days when we didn't have phones go back to the beepers i don't want no beeper i wish when i could leave the crib and nobody can contact me
Starting point is 00:04:59 man that's scary these days shit i'm I'm saying. Now, I mean, if you got kids, yeah. But I'm saying that was us, though. Yeah. Nigga get on that bike. Nigga, it was murder. I see you. It was murder. I didn't even have no curfew in the neighborhood.
Starting point is 00:05:15 So that was even more wicked. I had to be in when the streetlights came on. Yeah, streetlights was definitely an indicator. And the funny shit is now I laugh at kids because shit, back in the day, your mom asked you to do something. Click up. All day. Mom, I ain't see it Nowadays
Starting point is 00:05:25 Ay take that beat out of the refrigerator Aw damn I ain't talk to you They send you a text and a call I be mad if I was a kid now You can't finish your parents at all Yeah by the time that got to happening I was already out the house Yeah nigga I used to leave the crib at
Starting point is 00:05:37 7.30 in the morning nigga In the summer Oh yeah niggas was active What? Nigga I be outside by eight on the bike. Niggas be like, I remember Phil's dad used to be like,
Starting point is 00:05:48 hey, my man, you got to eat breakfast somewhere else. I used to be at his house eating breakfast at eight in the morning. It's a lot of them. It's 18 and over the career.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I had another bagel. That's an AAU squad. I used to be there so early You and Dale Rodger go home Yeah On God bro Yeah pulling up You was out of pocket
Starting point is 00:06:10 Coming to somebody's house At 8 is crazy I was there Every day The niggas were like Pulled up I was there so early Nigga I could
Starting point is 00:06:16 Lock on Phil's door That nigga be like What's up Getting in the shower Bed time to go That nigga be like Damn nigga I'll take summer school already I don't want to do this Every day they just be like, damn, nigga. I'll take summer school already.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I don't want to do this every day. I'll be with a nigga else all day. He's been stressful a long time. My fault, man. My bad, bro.
Starting point is 00:06:34 That's crazy. Hey, man, as we know, summer league is slowly approaching. But what I think is dope about the summer league, regardless of who you feel about,
Starting point is 00:06:41 who's playing and whatnot, I think it's fire because a lot of those guys may not have an opportunity to be with that particular team, but everybody is low-key kind of auditioning, you know what I'm saying, for their next season. It was interesting seeing Rondell Hollis Jefferson talk about, like, you know what I'm saying, he was out the league a little bit early.
Starting point is 00:06:56 He'd been going crazy overseas, like, waiting to get an opportunity to get back. And I was just seeing his testimony and stuff. And then you see, like, oh, but we were talking about it in China, going through it. It's just like, yeah, the NBA is a premier league, but everybody in December right now who hooping is hooping for a job
Starting point is 00:07:10 that probably won't be in the league. So everybody ain't out there on bullshit. Niggas careers have been built off that. Yeah, I see how people take it in the big three. They take it serious. Like in my head, when I was going to the big three,
Starting point is 00:07:20 I was like about to be cool. Like I'm like, yeah, in the middle of the game, I'm gonna start podcasting and shit. But I see serious they take it it's like oh they really auditioning for other shit though and i ain't really realized that until i got out there and like niggas it's like i hear them in the locker room like i'm trying to go back to italy i'm trying to go here i'm trying to oh they playing for real okay my fault you have no disrespect but same thing with summer league yeah it was crazy to hear him
Starting point is 00:07:46 talk about that situation he's like you know i'm saying i'll do whatever i need to get back in the league and you even see too many bad allegations against him but then you got a lot of people on the other side of it like okay you got players like miles bridge you got players like kevin porter who went through some real crazy situations that in other times would have probably got them out of the league or out the way to get new contracts and get new money and it's just like a lot of people feel different ways about it but i'm like at the same time this is an opportunity that a lot of people gonna take and i like summer league i was sure niggas is playing for their lives at the end of the day like it might look fun it may look a little like today's but nah niggas is hooping for a totally different reason
Starting point is 00:08:18 and that's low-key the best type of basketball when niggas is hooping on the line nah yeah uh when you like on a guarantee contract like you're a rookie or a second year player it's kind of annoying like if you're a rookie you're trying to impress people if you're a second year player you're trying to solidify like i shouldn't be here but you're trying to kill in the first two games you're trying to get 35 points so they can send you home because you low-key offended a little bit yeah especially if you play your rookie year you really offended but like if you ain't get to play that much every year you're just trying to show like yo i'm better than them yeah dmp mate yeah hell yeah because i was looking at some of
Starting point is 00:08:54 the rosters even like the california classic and stuff like uh we're gonna talk about zach heady too put me in the game completely out of pocket shout out to the to the gang but i was looking at like the jazz like walk Kessler, bro, why are you playing? I see some of them, but some of them guys, especially some, even some Pacer dudes who played in rotation in the Easter Conference one, bro, I would feel
Starting point is 00:09:16 offended if I'm out here too late. I know I can hoop, but what am I doing out here? If I'm playing rotational minutes in the playoffs, why am I in Summer League? Some of them probably just do it for the rake too, bro. Yeah. But they just like to solidify, like, you shouldn't the playoffs. Why, my summer league? Summer probably just do it for the wreck, too, bro. Yeah. But it's like to solidify, like, you shouldn't be here. Like, give us one or two games. Dominate them.
Starting point is 00:09:32 But if you don't dominate, it's like, hmm, what you been doing since then? Blah, blah, blah. That's a risk, too, because if you go in them games that don't kill, it's kind of like, we can get rid of this. Yeah. That was going to be my counterpoint if you go kill you expected to kill because you don't play the real minutes but if you are there and get hooped on this is like oh maybe this is bullshit because if you're a rotational
Starting point is 00:09:55 minutes in the playoffs you should go to the league i ain't saying somebody can get 50 but you should be 25 but the thing is your role on that team is different than it is gonna be on the summer league team like some people are better nba players than they are summer league players like i might fit a role on the team like i might be a catch and shoot knock down three but i'm playing with tyree salabur and so i know i'm waiting in the corner i'm ready to shoot i'm in summer league i ain't playing with tyree salabur i'm playing with a boy that just came from georgia he ain't passing the ball like that, so they expect me to go get the
Starting point is 00:10:27 ball and beat Tyrese Halliburton and do some stuff that I really can't do no more because I've been playing with this dude. I didn't fit it in the row. I remember my second year coming into Summer League. We didn't do Summer League my rookie year, but my second year going into Summer League,
Starting point is 00:10:44 I had already been in the NBA mindset, like, pick and pop with Al. You know what I mean? Pick and pop with Joe Smith. I'm being a point guard now in the Summer League. They want you to go out there and get 30. I'm like, now, if this was the year before, I would have gave y'all 35 every game. But now, this year, I'm in this mode where I'm looking for pocket passes, kicking it to the corner, and you playing with a bunch of dudes
Starting point is 00:11:05 that don't know nothing about that. So you look bad. I looked kind of bad my second year. It wasn't like I was killing me and Jordan Crawford was just taking turns shooting, but I wasn't looking good. I'll never forget that. And that's very interesting that you said that because I think the one thing that people kind of miss
Starting point is 00:11:21 when those situations, if you got somebody who specializes in the open gym, they're going to look like that nigga. But if you have a player who's used to a system or you're used to playing a particular way, where guys don't know nothing about that, they're all probably rookies from the 18, where they shot the ball 15 times. Coming into a system, you're already mature then.
Starting point is 00:11:38 That shit's a hell of a balance. And it makes you look bad, but you're doing everything the organization wants you to do. But then they might ridicule you on that shit, which is crazy at the same time. I mean yeah because at the end of the day it's still hoop so it's like you got to be out there go out there and perform but it's a it's kind of difficult if you're not like just a natural bucket getter like if you were just a natural bucket getter hooper like you or jamal crawford he can play anywhere because every team he went to they
Starting point is 00:12:01 just tell him to do you. Like, be that. Everybody's going to get that privilege. And that's why there's a lot of dudes that's nice that you'll see. Like, how the hell he ain't in the NBA? Because he ain't get that same leash just to go out there and be like, go do that. But part of the game. That shit sparked the conversation because I was watching some summer league highlights.
Starting point is 00:12:21 And I watched Gerald Smith play in the summer league in 2009 after he had been in the league for five or six years. He was out there killing it, bro. He was going to get the ring, bro. Yeah, he one of them dudes. And then five or six years, your confidence so high. Like, now if you put me in a Summer League game at year three or four, I would have went berserk.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Because my confidence was so high. But in your first year, after your first year, and you didn't get to play, you really ain't that confident. You're kind of like, damn, I want to kill. But, nigga, you ain't played in a year, really. So your confidence might be a little low. But after four or five, I done started. I done had 35 points in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:13:01 This is going to be a breeze. Hell, yeah. And I think what're so dope about it now that they've made it so marketable. You got the marquee games on. You got the young rookies that you just saw in college wrap up. Bet you're excited to see even some of the second year players we was talking about come back.
Starting point is 00:13:15 We talked about last episode a little bit, but I'm really excited to see that Timberwolves summer league team. I think Rob Dillingham is a person who can go out there and really, I mean, he got a name, obviously, but he could go out there and really make a big showing. Because we look at people like Donovan Mitchell who went out there and killed and got a shoe deal off that shit. Now, we obviously know that ain't normal. But is there any names y'all want to see in the summer league or any people y'all, you know what I'm saying, who y'all see transition like?
Starting point is 00:13:38 Because, you know, a lot of times in college, they get held back by programs and college coaches. Now, you're going to see a little bit of, all right, go show us why you a lottery pick type shit. programs and college coaches. Now you're going to see a little bit of, alright, go show us why you're a lottery pick type shit. Me personally, like I said, I'm only here for connect. Everybody else can just do their thing, bro.
Starting point is 00:13:53 I don't care about some of the league because I know what's the end result. He knows that shit don't really mean nothing to me, bro. Because you don't get That same freedom So even though Rob Go out there And he can have
Starting point is 00:14:08 65 points in the game It's going to be hard But I'm like damn He can score them all Yeah Nigga when he get to that team Anthony Edwards Is getting that ball
Starting point is 00:14:16 Yeah It's getting the ball Yeah He might get you About 8 or 9 10 Off the bench But he ain't going to
Starting point is 00:14:22 Have the ball like that Yeah For sure Yeah You want to know What the best thing About being a sports fan is There's only two days 10 off the bench, but he ain't going to have to bop like that. For sure. You want to know what the best thing about being a sports fan is? There's only two days in the entire year that we don't have any games in any sport. So with all that action in the sports

Starting point is 00:16:06 Cooper Flagg looking like the one a lot of people were doubting it but I'm Ben so he the one I don't know why
Starting point is 00:16:12 that's crazy bro he like and I know people oh he's just high school like nah you can tell in the motherfucking game he really like that bro
Starting point is 00:16:20 he cold bro him and AJ I could be fucking up his name I think it's the Benso or whatever bro AJ the Benso was fucking murdering they are they are really pros for real bro yeah so mount verdon got him all the way together he's from maine too from like that yeah so he ain't really grew up pooping with like we did you know i mean our city or chicago or new york like he really went to work bro in may and then went to that big ass eybl
Starting point is 00:16:47 circuit and dominated then dominated that mount bird he gonna kill it dude he the number one draft pick the thing is you could tell when somebody's just special like he got a twin brother or a brother or something he don't look like him don't he not tall as, he don't look like him. Don't? He not tall as him. He don't jump like him. And he play a big man. Yeah, he play a big man. He like 6'7", Cooper flag like 6'10". You can tell, like, the boos are swimming. They both good, but one just special.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Like, you can tell it. You can see it. That's why I was like, yeah, he not. Boos are supposed to go straight out of high school. He supposed to be able to go straight out of high school. We really just holding them back. Like, that one year at duke ain't gonna do nothing but hurt him like god forbid this happened or something but he twisted ankle and got set out the whole year you know some shit like kairi ain't no point for him to go into college bro he was an
Starting point is 00:17:38 nba player bro he played 10 games in college hell yeah and you look at aj defense bro he's going to murder at the next level he's going to murder at the next level he's still 17 he got another year of school he even jumped up like we can we can tell them ones like the rules don't apply to
Starting point is 00:17:50 everybody but special players like them we know they like that but to see him in that scrimmage was fire to see like I know the select team everybody back I just let him
Starting point is 00:17:58 aside no they're typically pro players like yeah it's gonna hoop to you no they good he was just doing man he was doing my boy Wyclef bad I mean he's 6'10 like I'm just saying it's like yeah no they good he was just doing man he was doing my boy wacliffe bad
Starting point is 00:18:05 i mean he's 16 like i'm just saying bro i was like to be going at like drew like that it's crazy bro confidence he was just out there hooping yeah i mean but it's easy to play when you playing free yeah it's easy to play when there ain't no rules really for you you really the test dummy so it's easy i mean as a 17 year old you really can't do no wrong everything is a green for you even if you're getting killed he's 17 yeah and i'm playing against yeah yeah 17 but if you have a moment like you just said he scored on drew they like only 17 so he it was a win-win situation this whole thing for him, but this just solidified him
Starting point is 00:18:47 being the number one pick to have success against the USA team and all them star caliber players. Yeah. It's a done deal. Yeah, he getting to it.
Starting point is 00:18:54 And I like the fact that they scrimmaged him. Like, I seen Trace out there, which was fire to see. But I think what's so crazy is that they voted that LeBron was the best player
Starting point is 00:19:02 on the team USA. Listen, y'all, I get it. Who voted that? Apparently, the team voted that LeBron was the best player on the team, USA. Listen, y'all. I get it. Who voted that? Apparently, the team voted LeBron was the best player on the team. They just said in practice. But, Brown is like, Brown is that dominant, though, where he could take over
Starting point is 00:19:16 a practice, bro. Especially in that USA shit. He's the godfather now. Yeah, them showing that picture of him at 0-4 and then and into now i'm like bro you've been on the team 20 years bro but like the like him like everybody's saying that he practiced so hard and he worked so hard and practiced but it's like i used to didn't believe that kind of shit but now i really believe it because like bro you've been that good for that
Starting point is 00:19:40 long bro it takes a certain type of work like i just think about getting up every day now and like i go work out but i don't do nothing crazy i'm trying to maintain some shit so i don't look crazy like to be that good for that long since you was 18 yeah bro you're worth it got to be something crazy bro and i remember a couple years ago bro he had a quote and he was talking about like having rest time he was like shit my body hurt when i have rest he said i'm used to getting up and doing everything stringless every day that's how i maintain i might get that nigga different bro because there's no way you can get up and say damn arrest day hurts but if you've been moving like that since she was 14 years old your body probably just used to that uh he different bro he the healthiest nba player
Starting point is 00:20:21 ever bro yeah for sure he ain't never had a serious he ain't never had a serious injury i mean he had his ankle that one year but that really wasn't too much of none yeah like it was still kind of tanking too yeah like a year but i remember watching lebron severely twist his ankle him tie his shoe limp down the court and catch the ball a half court and come out and dunk no nigga uh deshaun stevenson is my witness bro this nigga roll his ankle i swear to god that bitch touched the flow we got like we ain't hype he hurt but we like he's out like it was about the witness game he's out that nigga no shit i ain't lying nigga did like this like that i said nigga start wiggling his foot and stay in the game. That's what we played for the, I think it was the Heat.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I was like, he's an alien, y'all. Space Jam. I said, he's not real, bro. Bro, I got activated. Bro, I'm talking about that boy touched the ground. Did that. I'm going to start wiggling. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:21:17 You weren't supposed to say that, bro. Yeah, I was like, yeah. That's that monster. Yeah, I said something kicked in. Fuck, push that button. Something kicked in, bro. Something kicked in something kicked in push that button something kicked in bro something kicked in
Starting point is 00:21:28 me and Deshaun Stevenson looked at each other like I'm like yeah he out yes about to win it's crazy so
Starting point is 00:21:36 I'm not I wouldn't hope he was severely hurt but shit he twisted I ain't gonna know you out I did that a hundred times you got to sit that one out
Starting point is 00:21:42 you just did it man I'm like you got to sit that out he hit a just did it. Yeah. I'm like, you got to sit that out. He hit a yoga pose and came back and dropped the boy and missed the game. Running faster.
Starting point is 00:21:50 He came back stronger. I'm like, that boy got activated. Hey, remember the LeBron, the Sean Stevenson beat where Jayce dissed him over a blow to whistle beat?
Starting point is 00:21:58 That's crazy. That's a crazy diss record. Shout out to D. Steve. Getting dissed over a song for the freaks is crazy. They can talk about these hoes, bro. Who are you hoeing? D. Steve.
Starting point is 00:22:11 They said Soulja Boy wrote D. Steve, a diss track, towards Brown. Or something. I can't remember. I got to. Probably. If Soulja Boy is the ghostwriter, that's a problem. Nah, he ain't rapping.
Starting point is 00:22:22 I think Soulja Boy did something with D. Steve. He came to the game or something. D. Steve, man. That's crazy. I got it. Nah, he ain't rapid. I mean, I think Soulja Boy did something with D. Steve. Came to the game or something. D. Steve, man, that's crazy. That's crazy. Bruh got whole. Sean Steve got Soulja Boy. Yeah. Shout out to D. Steve. He was one of the coolest teammates I ever had, bro. He was cool. Yeah, I want him to come
Starting point is 00:22:39 on the show and talk about that time when him and Gilbert were shooting. When Gilbert beat him. Please define when you say Gilbert. Like, I want to, because I- Please define when you say Gilbert shooting because, you know, that goes a couple different ways
Starting point is 00:22:48 on the internet. Nah, bro. I'm on the court. Yeah, there we go. I want to hear, like, how that started and shit because niggas talk about, I'm just saying
Starting point is 00:22:57 that y'all talking about work ethic. Niggas say Gilbert or any work ethic is crazy. Ah, yeah. Second to none. Everybody know that in the league. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:03 They like Gilbert crazy. And that's crazy because you would think at that level where so many people kind of not log in with talent because everybody NBA's talented to an extent. Like either if it's on a lower or higher, everybody's cold to get to that level. But that work at the shit really be mean and shit, especially at that. It separates the superstars from the all
Starting point is 00:23:19 stars to the mid-tier players. But I can also see when you get comfortable enough on the contract, bro, I can kind of relax a little bit. Like undeveloped my game now that's the kryptonite for everybody that happened to me i bit that i bit that bug too a little bit like i got comfortable like yeah shit that's all i gotta do get 15 16 8 assists i can do that in my sleep and then you just stop not working you still work because you want to be good but you don't put in that extra you see the people who put in extra you start seeing them take a little more step like you still at 15 you see drew holiday go to 18 you still at 16 drew holiday at 20 you're like
Starting point is 00:23:57 okay now you're trying to you took two years off you behind behind. So you see it, though. But then they maintaining their body. They doing all that stuff to make them better players. And that's the reason they still playing. That's interesting. And I got to ask you this. Did you ever, I mean, you was aware of who your draft class was and probably people who wasn't, you know, like when you was getting signed, like free agency kick around.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Who going to be available? Were you available? Did you like kind of keep up on their stats? I know you mentioned with Drew and stuff, but did you ever kind of pay attention to that no i only did that one time that's when me and drew holiday was gonna be free agents same time and i knew the pay me and him was gonna get paid from the pacers and he's gonna get paid from the pelicans but like i think y'all know the story how it fell through because part of george's life
Starting point is 00:24:40 yeah that's the only time i ever really paid attention i ain't really care i ain't never really checked nobody else pockets because i money don't mean all that to me like that i just wanted to always be comfortable take care of my my mom and dad i ain't really give a fuck about but then when you see the numbers you'd be like damn i can get this oh i could get that like he got 120 000 a What the fuck? I can get that? Yeah, I was going to say, I know you, like you say, you mind your own money
Starting point is 00:25:08 and then most people do that, but then when you start seeing what you signed for and somebody else get that, that ESPN alert, like, he signed for what? Yeah, you can't do that, though. That's when you get fucked up.
Starting point is 00:25:16 That's when shit gets spooky. Yeah, you start worrying about what the next man got. You start ruining your blessings, bro. I don't do that. I just feel happy for them. That's your game too yeah that's real because i was looking at paul george um paul george's contact about his situation with the
Starting point is 00:25:29 clippers um i got mixed feelings about it and i understand why he feels his way about it as well but i think some of that towards the end of it was hey you can't really be worried about what everybody else getting because you just got worried about what you got going on and sometimes that could ruin the situation and basically offonse is kind of how he talk. It seemed like Philly was the last option that he wanted to be at this offseason, which is kind of interesting to go into the season with that. Like, I mean, they got a whip now. They're going to be good for sure.
Starting point is 00:25:54 But it's kind of interesting to see how he felt about the contract negotiations with the Clippers, how that panned out. And then you look at the time periods, a lot of different stuff. He's like, okay, you didn't really get along with the Clippers in that situation. And then at the time that you're saying y'all didn't have no communication as far as contract-wise, it's when y'all went in a bad slump and he was just like, let me get out my feelings. Let me just get back to ball. But then we look in the offseason and I was like, all right.
Starting point is 00:26:15 It looked like Philly was your last option slash resort in the situation. You saying that made it all make sense. It's like, yeah, when you kind of look at those situations, the contract-wise, it can fuck your game up and fuck your mental up. Yeah, you start worrying about when I'm going to get paid, who got paid, when I'm going to get this. I ain't going to lie, bro. I swear, my contract got broke out in hives, bro.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I went to the trainer like, something wrong. I got shit all over me. I'm like, what the fuck? I done got a bad batch. You know what I mean? Something. I'm like, what's going on? And he's like, oh, these are hives.
Starting point is 00:26:49 He's like, here, you got to take some Benadryl. He's like, you got to alert your reaction to something. So I'm like, damn, what'd I eat? Oh. You know what I mean? Well, I'm thinking like, it's like, you eat fish? Like, did you eat seafood? Did you eat something you don't normally eat?
Starting point is 00:27:01 So I'm sitting there. They do all these tests on you in the NBA. You know what I'm saying? They take you to the doctor, do all these tests on you. He came back. He's like, no, you just got normally eat. So I'm sitting there and they do all these tests on you in the NBA. You know what I'm saying? They take you to the doctor and do all these tests on you. He came back. He's like,
Starting point is 00:27:09 no, you just got a high. He's like, man, are you stressing? Oh, I was going through the ringer. I shot 28% tonight. God damn. I got to be at 38, 40
Starting point is 00:27:18 to get this money. I was doing all that shit. I was going crazy. Man, I was so happy when I signed that deal. I'd never wear it again after that. But that first time,
Starting point is 00:27:27 that was the first contract in Milwaukee. Yeah, that 32 because, you know, I was like, I was nervous as hell.
Starting point is 00:27:34 You know, they tell you you only got four, like, the average lifespan of an NBA player, the average is four years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I'm in year four. I'm like, shit, if I don't get this deal, like, shit, I ain't going, I don't know where I'm going i gotta go overseas i'm thinking all this shit overseas too you're not realizing nigga you starting in the nba you're gonna get a deal yeah but you like damn i just want to make sure then i was just stressing man you broke out of highs i didn't know that one yeah i was
Starting point is 00:28:02 stressing crazy bro hell yeah you had to be, nigga. Yeah, I'm talking about every game you looking at shit. Imagine that, bro. You feel like your life on the line. Every time you play, you like, nigga, I ain't shooting three times. I was doing all types of shit, bro. You trying to save the MG. Man, what?
Starting point is 00:28:21 I was doing all types of shit that just wasn't even part of the game. Like half court shots? No, no sir would never shoot that you're not painting pressure nope i don't want somebody else dribble the clock out act like i couldn't get them out once man everything was about stats and numbers and then you got people telling you like you know i mean yeah instead of like just yeah instead of people like, yo, just hoop, just hoop, like, just kill, you're going to have fun. They like, you got to
Starting point is 00:28:47 shoot over, you got to be 45% for the field and get closer to that three, man. I don't think you can shoot it, get to like 35, 36. So when you get there,
Starting point is 00:28:55 you're like, shit, I ain't shooting no more threes. And you're like, man, I'm out here playing bad because I'm worried about this. And that's funny
Starting point is 00:29:02 because I'll never forget Draymond trying to, um, trying to make fun of Moe Harkless for stepping in off the three-point line and taking him long too. He's like, you scared to shoot three?
Starting point is 00:29:09 He said, Nick, I got a contract bonus. What the fuck was you talking about? This 500K is secure. I'm not shooting three for the next three months. Tell you, bro, that shit be in your head.
Starting point is 00:29:18 That's why I don't bet. Like, I don't gamble. But when we do, we use DraftKings. But when we do, we use DraftKings, but I don't gamble but when we do we use draft kings but when we do that we use draft kings but i don't because i know i've been one of those dudes yeah so she'll tell me about that paper when they just read that paper and see them numbers yeah that shit is spooky bro but if i was a betting man i would win a lot of money because i just look and see what in a contract year and i'll be like oh i know what he about to do i can win money no that's smart because the average better don't know shit about
Starting point is 00:29:52 that all you gotta do is find out who in a contract year they gonna play the best basketball that fucking year oh yeah you know the king of that shit was tyson chandler oh my god he'd go missing for about two years he. You ain't heard from him all that type of shit. That contract year, phew, Tobias Harris. For sure. Golden. Except last year. Sure does. His grandfather didn't know. It don't matter what he do. It's 25
Starting point is 00:30:16 year. Nah, I believe that whole hardly. Even like role players, motherfuckers even like Fred Van Fleet. Boy, master that. I said i saw fred reading that paper put me on you know i mean we're talking about hoop all the time but sheryl we're like all right bro that shit niggas about to get a bag bro so look at kcp bro anytime it's cut at kcp go super insane bro you look at your effective field goal percentage you look at how your usage rate compared to other people that got 20 million a year or whatever
Starting point is 00:30:50 and you try to measure up to them when they go to them analytics and that shit match up well yeah he's worth 20 million it's like yeah so what since we educating people on that like what's the is it something that's more important than the next? Or what if you off by, do you know if you off a certain percentage? Nah, I mean, field goal percentage, three-point percentage,
Starting point is 00:31:11 defensive rating, and all that stuff play a part when you're doing analytics, right? Yeah. If you offensively killing, but a nigga give you 30 a night. Ah, yeah,
Starting point is 00:31:20 so that's going to fuck up with you. It's gone. Yeah, but like, your win shares, now they look at your defensive win shares and shit like that. But if you like a KCP and you look at his defense percentage and his, yeah, so that's going to fuck up with you. It's going to. Yeah, but like. Your win shares, now they look at your defensive win shares and shit like that. But if you like a KCP and you look at his defense percentage and his like field goal
Starting point is 00:31:29 percentage and where he take his shots from, he like, he a high three-point shooter. Most of his shots are three-point shooters, but he's a really good on the ball defender. He got good defensive ratings. Got you. So it's like, oh, he's going to affect the game this way on defensively. And then he's going to do what we need. We need three-point shooting. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Then it compares to somebody else that did that maybe a year before or in that current situation. And they'd be like, yeah, he's worth $25 million. Next thing you know, you're getting $25 million. I did not know that because if I did, I would have played defense so different. That's why I wanted to ask you about that, if it played like a part. And you got steel so that's the funny part about me i just didn't like i used to get scored on i had a high
Starting point is 00:32:10 rate that's what i'm saying like but if i didn't know that i would have closed down a little differently you had to be smart like kairi and luca yeah now i get it luca switch i'll get it now it makes sense for sure now i always wanted to know me and bro talk about it but i didn't know how that played a part like if i'm averaging 20 this year but a nigga cooking me how many millions is that deducted i mean it's it's all about it's also about the team who you love and like what the team feel about you and stuff that play a role too it ain't like you just gonna get paid because you average these numbers this guy sits off the bench to average 16 but it might not be an effective 16 he might be like oh he shoot 17 shots a game or whatever that's true so
Starting point is 00:32:55 you'd be like like a kelly uber you'll see his stats i remember one year he averaged like 20 for like charlotte or somebody and he went into free agency and nobody signed him and everybody like damn he averaged 20 though it's like in your head you'd be like i averaged 20 it's like yeah when we do the numbers this is a losing team this is how it looked it don't matter and it's crazy bro because they never put that shit like you're going shopping on amazon bro they put everything in filters and see which statistics fit for their team then from that latter they go through and see okay these are the people we have this criteria all right what's. Alright, what's his chemistry like?
Starting point is 00:33:26 What's his longevity like? What's his age? Then they start going into the health and all that shit. It's crazy. Analytics have really changed the way people go into free agency and shit. Alright, now I get it then. So that makes sense why, okay, see why Houston paid James Harden like they did. Because based off his, like... Analytics.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Like for that team? Yeah. He generated so much profit. See who much you playing with so if we put you by yourself it'll and a plus minus was crazy too because like he was coming off the bench quote unquote so like his impact with that was so crazy but i remember um you'll have episode with lou will and it was just going off the stats and times and stuff like that and like it was like if lou will was a starter with the same stats with a little increased minutes he'd have been a max like he had max deal production, but that was getting him on like a bench role
Starting point is 00:34:08 player type salary, which is crazy. So like you said, that, how they place you in those situations with them analytics can change how much you get paid drastically. And sometimes they play like Lou Will, obviously he should have got played way more than whatever he was getting paid. But it also affects
Starting point is 00:34:23 like, alright, he's a two guard or whatever. Can he guard this? That's why Drew Holiday is so effective. He get paid because he can feel like he can play multiple positions. And you'd be like, damn. Like Derek White, they can guard multiple positions.
Starting point is 00:34:39 That's why they get paid as a defender and a guy that can score. Now, if you're just a cold-blooded scorer, you don't get appreciated the same way. A two-way player is going to get paid way more than that. Hell, yeah. Because I always looked at another always keep a job by Tobias Harris, Aaron Aflalo.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Aaron Aflalo was the king of contract year getting buckets and keeping 15, 20 year and then fading off until it was time to get paid. Yeah, I fucked with AA. I wonder whatever happened to him. I mean, shit, bro. He played in the league probably 13, 14 years. I just didn't. I know he was on his way out when he swung on Belly.
Starting point is 00:35:13 We had a game, bro. He just fired off on Belly for no reason, bro. Belly put him in a headlock. Damn, ain't that who you got in trouble with? I just slapped him. What time? What day is it on? What the hell? I? I just slapped him. What's up? What niggas on? What the hell? I love Belly, too.
Starting point is 00:35:30 That's my dog. Wait, first year we got a racist, bro. We fuck with you, bro. I don't know why niggas talk. He swung on him, he missed. Belly like, what? And put him in a headlock. He just put him on the headlock. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:45 I ain't going to lie. Belly crazy, bro. He crazy. I don't know. Yeah, there we go right there. He just fired on it. He swung on it. Belly had him in the headlock.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Yeah, I got to clip that up. That's crazy. Shout out to Aaron Aflalo, bro. Yeah, man. Give us a little bell. Give us a little bell. Fuck with you over here. Wake up with football every morning and listen to my new podcast,

I was on the floor when he was getting with her. Yep.
Starting point is 00:38:05 You weren't guarding him, though. Wow, shout out to Dennis Smith Jr., man. I don't remember it, but I'm sure we'll get to see it here soon. Yeah. That's hard. That's crazy. But, hey, shout out to all the young boys getting paid. K just got his extension. Franz Wagner got a bag.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Obviously, he one of them people. I knew that was coming, though. Yeah, for sure. For sure. I can't wait to see what PB get he gonna probably get that same thing with brothers there you go if Mo Wagner is good and then you see his brother it's a little
Starting point is 00:38:34 different damn sure respectfully yeah oh for sure I've never really seen two brothers and they both was like cold yeah because you look at Brooke and and robin and it's yeah yeah steph and seth it's like it's a difference yeah it's definitely you know anybody else who like brothers was like clay and michael they do a little different too
Starting point is 00:38:57 drew on his brothers for sure oh yeah definitely I think the closest that'll be together is probably the Thompson twins. Nah, one of them different, though. One of them is a pure goon on defense. But I'm saying how they looked at it, I think in the league, it'll probably be the same. It'll be the same. They both going to be $100 million players, bro. You think so?
Starting point is 00:39:21 One of them ain't going to play that much. The one in Houston? Yeah, he got a tough situation. He in a tough situation. If he leave, because he got an offensive bag, bro. I wouldn't think so. One of them ain't going to play that much. The one in Houston. Yeah, he got a tough situation. He in a tough situation. If he leave, because he got an offensive bag, bro.
Starting point is 00:39:28 But that boy, that's with him, Cam. He liked that. Yeah. Cam Whitmore. He liked that. I was so pissed
Starting point is 00:39:36 when the Pacers passed on him. I fuck with Jarius, but I was just like, man, we could have got Cam. Nah, he liked that.
Starting point is 00:39:42 He different. He wanted people, the Lakers, shitty that they passed on because they did not play the draft pick last year at all and Cam would have gotten minutes for that team for sure.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Yeah, he nice, man. Yeah, he going to have me thinking about that. Damn, the Twins too. The Twins, the Morris Twins, they probably close in comparison too. Yeah, but Marcus,
Starting point is 00:39:59 I don't know because I remember Keith was the best one at first and then Marcus came, got better. That's the closer you're going to get damn near they too close like they're the same person almost they got the same tattoo yeah it's the same person so that's the best one and keep it cute because they pull up i wish i had a twin god we don't need two hitters out here
Starting point is 00:40:24 yeah yeah the morris ones they're the closest in game i'll probably say right now marcus is better I wish I had a twin. God, look. We don't need two Hendricks out here. Yeah. Yeah, the Morris twins, they the closest in game. I'd probably say right now Marcus is better. Yeah. Yeah. Keith was better at first when he was in Phoenix, and then I'd say Marcus as their career kept going. I think he was better.
Starting point is 00:40:37 But they very close for sure. All right. I don't know if y'all have seen this. Angela Simmons went to the BET with the pistol purse, and she got a little flack of that. Have y'all seen her new photo shoot? With the Oreos? Yes. Yeah. She got Oreos? Please look at the screen. She took a photo shoot.
Starting point is 00:40:54 She a little big or is she saying because they saying she fat? No, just speak. Fill my Hennessy cup up with the Milk and Bailey's. I'm dipping. You hear me?
Starting point is 00:41:09 She took a whole photo shoot with the Oreos. She went pock in the tub with the Oreos. Deep fried. My kind of shit. You know we love grease over here. For shit show. That's a campaign. It's for Oreos? For slutty vegan.
Starting point is 00:41:25 I'm probably weak. She got to check to sit in that bathtub. for shit show. That's a campaign. It's for Oreos? Yeah. For slutty vegan. Oh, so they got vegan, I'm probably weak. She got to check to sit in that bathtub. This was like vegan Oreos?
Starting point is 00:41:32 Oh yeah, there it go. They're already vegan. I was going to say, Oreos are already vegan. Okay. They are? Yep.
Starting point is 00:41:37 She was deep fried. Yeah. I'm cool. I'm something. I like, what's the chocolate? I like Chips Ahoy. Oh.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Which one? I like Chips Ahoy. I was going to say so, but. I do, bro. I like Chips Ahoy. I know, bro, but sometimes my mind be going too far, so. Who you going to see in like Chips Ahoy. I know, bro, but sometimes my mom be going too far. Who you going to see in the Chips Ahoy? No, I wasn't even talking about the Chips Ahoy.
Starting point is 00:42:11 I was going to talk about just some different type of cookies, but it's fine. Oh, she's about to say something about some Spanish people. He's disrespectful. I'm not on that. I don't know what kind of cookies they eat. Probably wafers. Mexican wafers. No, that's all old grandma everybody grandma used to have wafers nigga all the vanilla wafers the vanilla wafers or those um the oreo what's the ice oatmeal cookies that's always stale as soon as you open them up or the
Starting point is 00:42:38 uh what's the ones uh i got the brown and black on that shit. Fudge. Yeah, them shit so nasty. Yeah, fudge rhymes. You out of pocket. I love off-brand cookies, though. I ain't really a man. I ain't a Keebler nigga. I was always a store brand nigga. A Keebler nigga sounds crazy. Yeah, fam.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yeah, fam. I used to like lemon cookie stuff. Yeah, I fuck with the lemon cookies, bro. But I put chips on holy nigga. They get softer faster, bro. Of course. Nah, bro. the cookies bro chips ahoy nigga they get softer faster bro fuck them oreos chips ahoy that's what probably one of the weaker cookies probably uh the brass sister lisa right yeah that's an old nigga cookie that's an old nigga cookie. That's an old nigga cookie for sure. 50 and up.
Starting point is 00:43:26 So what cookie is the brand? That's an old nigga cookie. Chips and whore ain't no old nigga cookie. For sure, bro. If you eat the chewy chips and whores, you are out of pot. That's all I'm saying. Damn, y'all got me on my face shit. The color of the bag is this color. The grandma cookies.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Oh, from the gas station? Cold. Ah, yeah. The vanilla one? The little small? The small joints? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Gun smoke.
Starting point is 00:43:50 For sure. Them are official. The strawberry one's the best one that's out of that package. You got to go to 56th and Marathon for that one. Yeah, but they don't come in a pack. They come in a rocket.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Y'all know where I'm coming from. Yes. Nah, them motherfuckers are precious. The strawberry one's fire, though. Now, you say you eat all bread cookies. Now, how do y'all feel about all bread cereal because that to me is just completely out of pocket no i work too hard i really wasn't a cereal type of nigga growing up but it all tastes the same i ain't gonna lie the taste is kind of crazy a little bit but it the the initial hint of it is the same i did have apple rings it's supposed to be apple jacks
Starting point is 00:44:21 yeah i bought some little bobby with shitty one day yeah bro right there yeah that's crazy apple rings yeah and he's like what is your husband doing like that's respectful because you out of pocket yeah then what's weak as hell i had uh damn it was fruit greens apple rings and it was another one i spent all my homeboy house he had the king vitamin i sent him in crunch it was captain cruncher yeah he was poor but oh my nigga struggle oh shit uh you ain't you said you ain't eat it i didn't i didn't eat cereal like that Oh, dude, man. Shout out to my nigga. I'm bullshitting. You know what I'm talking about. Ah, shit. You said you ain't eat it.
Starting point is 00:45:07 I didn't eat cereal like that, bro. Sandwich Toast Crunch was one of the ones. And I fucked with the Captain Crunch with berries, though. If you just ate Captain Crunch without the berries, you need to be in jail. My dad, me and my dad used to eat them without the berries. What? See, y'all was on a different type of time.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Me and my dad used to make us eat Frosted Flex and put bananas in them. Frosted Flex is fire. Now, the additives, I don't know about the bananas, but I know people who used to do that with other cereals. But, damn, y'all niggas was really eating Captain Crusher, no berries? For sure. Y'all niggas are strong as hell, boy.
Starting point is 00:45:32 You got to let that bitch marinate. And we used to eat honeycomb. I'm feeling a jawbreaker. Damn near. I eat, like, Cheerios and Raisin Bran. That makes sense. I'm sick of this nigga's shit. It fits your aura.
Starting point is 00:45:44 I eat no goddamn Raisin Bran any nigga that wear Carl Brown socks nasty as fuck bro I ain't got no sugar on I'm a kid
Starting point is 00:45:53 that's my favorite Raisin Bran Crunch or just Raisin Bran the Raisin Bran Crunch is nice too no Raisin Bran Crunch is fire nigga I'm on punishment
