Listen to NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years starting on June 30th on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Thank you for coming back. Part two is underway. What's it like playing against Coach Daley's Gamecock? Because they say that building is rocking. Yeah. And you know, Coach Daley, I'm old enough to remember Coach Daley when she played at
Starting point is 00:01:22 UVA. So you don done seen everybody. I have. From Cheryl, yeah all of them. Cheryl Miller, all of them. All of them. Man, this is bad. That's hard though, for real.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Yeah. What's it like playing in that, you know, obviously Death Valley the football stadium. I don't know what it's like. I haven't heard a lot of people. Death Valley the football stadium, we the number one stadium in the world. Yeah, yeah, I heard that gets loud. Go Tigers! I heard that gets loud.
Starting point is 00:01:49 And then they play that anthem and we go nuts in the area. Y'all go crazy, huh? Absolutely. You could have been a game, call them an agent. You an agent, dumping that thing down to Asians? She was before me. Oh, Lea Boston. Lea Boston, not.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Yeah, you a wah wah. But she number four too, I think. See, can't even do it. What you mean? No, but Lea Boster, she was taboo. Boy, she gave me some smoke. She was strong, bro. But nah, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Y'all didn't beat LSU. Y'all didn't beat South Carolina on a long time. No, we ain't beat them yet, and that's my problem. Oh, so you gotta get one dub before you get a fighter? I gotta get one before I leave. As a competitor, that makes you mad. You know what I'm saying? That makes you upset.
Starting point is 00:02:29 So I'm excited. I'm excited to play. I'm always excited. It's going to be the best games of the year. I'm excited to play. Hold on. But that stadium is lit. I ain't going to lie.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Tell us about the situation when your brother rushed your court. Oh my god. Shout out to my boy. You know I think it was like a like I can't explain I have to you know I'm saying I have to say it was like a little split second like. He forgot like all he saw was that's my sister. The problem was he wasn't supposed to be on the rail like if you look he right on the rail when it happened and I think he just seen me get pushed and he just like, was like, hey, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:03:08 But he wasn't going over there to square out with nobody. I'm like, bro, she's six, seven, cuz like, it's gonna take like three of us. But nah, he wasn't looking at what he was just like making sure all good. Cuz my brother, he like my security. Like even when I'm out, like he always on alert. So I think he was just too close. Like, and he jumped over that thing. I didn't even know he was on the court I didn't even see him on the court. I was on the floor, but
Starting point is 00:03:33 Now that was a crazy moment, but that's my dog That's my dog, but that's how my mama raised us like right like not to do that in that type of situation But like we protect one another. He's my protector. I never had a dad so he like my protector So that's my dog. You got arrested, you apologized to Coach Staley. What made you apologize? Um just because I know that's not like that's not what I'm about and that's not what he's about. He ain't that type of person. He I knew he wasn't trying to harm nobody but he wanted to make sure nobody harm my sister either. Right and so you know I just want that's just for me just being like
Starting point is 00:04:01 you know I apologize for this and that. But that was pretty much it. When you look back at it, so let me ask you a question. When y'all got home together and they replayed it on TV, you like, Ian, what you thinking? I was like, Trey, he was like, bruh, I went blank, bruh, you my little sister. You my little sister, what you think? I was like, yeah, I would have been out there.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Right. All right, this your senior year. Yeah. Why you come back? Oh, man, a lot. You know, like, you know what's- Because you were cooking that last game. That last game that y'all ended up winning.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I mean, losing. You were cooking. You dropped like 20. That was your, like, career high, wasn't it? Yeah, 28. I don't think it was, yeah. I was like, damn, like, I saidu'jae. I was like who is this? Somebody I should have been a long time ago. Oh yeah somebody I should have been a long
Starting point is 00:04:52 time ago but it's just about learning the game and it was like I hate it to go out on that loss but I love to go out on like knowing like Flau'jae like you got that mentality that you could take over. Yes. So you gotta you gotta do it, like you can't turn it off. You know what I'm saying? You gotta figure out how to be the overall basketball player. You gotta figure out how to score. You gotta figure out how to get your teammates to go off. You gotta stop the other team best player too.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Like you just gotta figure it out. You ain't got no choice. So that was the game where I was like, I learned how to tap into that thing. What are your expectations for this season? Man, national championship. I've been so close. National championship my first year. Elite eight.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Elite eight again. I'm sick of the elite eight. You know what I'm saying? I'm over it. You do realize when you have success early, you take it for granted. You think it's just easy. You think, well fam, I'm a freshman,
Starting point is 00:05:43 we done won the 90. You like, oh man, I'm getting me by two or three of these things. And then I, exactly, then I learned like, it's not about you. It's about who is around you. It's about your support and cash. It's about their mentality. So I had to start, okay, if I'm gonna be the leader, how am I gonna lead?
Starting point is 00:06:00 And that's my mindset going into this year. Like my teammates, like they'll see a whole nother version of me next year. How do I want my soldiers standing beside me to be like, you know what I'm saying? So you set that standard. So I definitely want to win a national championship. I want to be in consideration for the number one pick, because I feel like I've been working hard.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Every year you see I'm going up. I'm going up in every category. I become more skilled. My playmaking has developed at an all time high. And I'm ready to showcase that because I've been working. I'm going to keep working. Right. When November comes and it's going to be time to showcase that, I'm going to be ready. Well, you know LSU has some Player of the Year,
Starting point is 00:06:37 Simone Augustus, I think, was the SEC Player of the Year. Right. You want that trophy on your mantle? Man, I got all the other ones. I got freshman of the year. I got second team. Now I got first team. So if that's what it comes to Man, I got all the other ones. I got freshman of the year. I got second team. I got first team. So if that's what it come to, yeah, that's what I want.
Starting point is 00:06:49 It's probably going to take that for you to be, you know, you want to be the number one overall pick at the WNBA. You probably like to get that done. Yeah, but I ain't really worried about that. I'm trying to go national. Like, I'm not. So you want to be the wooden? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:00 You want to be the Wade one? I know it's watch list. Oh, OK. My bad. I haven't been holding you My bad. That has just come with it. But like, if you see last year, I had those stats types on. So that last person that went SEC player of the year, my teammate had the stats. So you know what I'm saying, it's just about your timing,
Starting point is 00:07:22 and it's about what you do and how you win. It ain't about really you as a player too much, can't be, it's about you winning. It seems like the last four or five years, three to four years, the women's game has been bigger than the WNBA. Yeah. I mean, when Caitlin and they got Juju,
Starting point is 00:07:42 Paige Becker, Kaitlyn, Angel. I mean, it seems like those women, and the thing is now, is that those women had a fan base. And their fan base is following them to the WNBA. Yeah. That's the beautiful part. Seeing it go, you know what I'm saying? Not seeing it wither away, not seeing fans, no, seeing fans, I'm going, my favorite player is, you know I'm saying not seeing it with her away not seeing fans. No seeing fans
Starting point is 00:08:06 I'm going my favorite player. Yes, you know new team Yeah, you know I think it's so cool is People over time is creating leagues for high school girls to develop his pros and bro like this is getting better and better It's gonna continue to and I love seeing it and I love being a part of it and just doing my part You do realize, uh, you're gonna make less money going to WME than when you make it right now, right? I don't know. You know, I saw the...
Starting point is 00:08:33 Salary-wise. Yeah, I saw the salary. I saw that salary. Salary-wise, but it's a lot of... It's the money out there to be made, huh? Yeah, it's out there. It's out there. It's out there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:45 And you know, people really think that like the NIL money just disappear. Like, no, like these become bigger deals. That it turn into endorsements. Exactly. And so, you know, that's why when you doing your NIL, you do right with your business. You communicate with your partners.
Starting point is 00:09:00 You try to be as professional as you can be because the bag don't stop unless you stop it. You know what I'm saying? And I have a platform, I have a brand, and I'm trying to keep doing this music. So yeah, man, it's just beautiful horizons on it, you know, beautiful things on the horizon. I'm probably going to take that, my salary, and you know what I'm saying? I don't know what I'm going to do with my salary. I might get some more land or something, but that ain't what you want to ride on.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Right. You know what I'm saying? You got to, investments, you got to have your business together. Now, but there is collective bargaining going on. There's a potential of a strike. Yeah. You saw a lot of players saying one year deals
Starting point is 00:09:37 because they like, nah, these max contract, we're going to need a little bit more than what they are right now. I ain't finna tie myself down. No two, three, four year deal. I'm going to need the bag this next time around. Yes, I seen that. They said it was a slap in the face and everything. I hope they don't go strike my ear. Yeah, yeah, I need that. I need to get that back. I want to play. They need to call CBA. Right. But you are an investor in the three on three,
Starting point is 00:10:02 the Unrivaled. Yeah. Yeah. you be doing good with your money, huh? Yeah, for sure, that's what I'm telling you. It's money I am. I seen somebody, I think it was on your show, it was like, you know, once you make money, it's easier to make more and more money, like you know what I'm saying? Especially the rooms you in,
Starting point is 00:10:16 and the people that you associated with yourself with. But honestly, how you do business. Right. You know what I'm saying? And I like to invest. I bought like 20 acres of land. I'm building a development on there I'm purchasing another development in Atlanta my mom she building her dream house right now like I we've been doing like a lot of things like I'm trying to open this franchise like you know it's
Starting point is 00:10:37 a lot of things that you can get into but you just got to do when the cook gives us down in Savannah I already told myself when I get rich rich I'm taking my seasons of Japan and my carry hill is from Savannah because they don't have one. They don't know about carry hill. They don't know about that. That's what I'm telling you. But they don't do the gilders no more at carry hill. I know but they do that.
Starting point is 00:10:55 That fried chicken be. Fried chicken them chicken wings. Oh you know ball. Oh I gotta go to Savannah. I used to go to the one I don't own on the south side there and then I lived on the south side and then when I was in school the one on Skidaway right there. Right there by the field. I'd be going there every time I go over there on the east side. There's not one time I go to Savannah that I
Starting point is 00:11:18 don't stop by Carehead. You can't do that. I get that all white with that lemonade. But I went back I didn't know that they had done away with the lemonade. But I went back, I didn't know that they had done away with the gifts. They said, I'm sorry, Mrs. Yolanda, we don't have the gifts. But them gifts were fine. Carry his that thing. I'm gonna give you one.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Yeah, you might need, I don't know, cause I haven't seen them anywhere outside of Hilton Head in Savannah. Literally, there's literally none. Like I don't go anywhere and see a carry his. I saw you train with Paige one on one. Yeah. Whew.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Paige, get you some work, good work? Yes. Oh my God, that's why I like to see people work, like, because I'm training with her, I'm like, I'm bending down, I'm like, hold up, now, and she's standing up. She's not tired. We do a three-point shoeing contest, and it's like, you got to make this under a minute, and I mean, she's letting them go. Midway through, I'm feeling my arms go out. I was like, oh it's like, you got to make this under a minute. And I mean, she's letting them go. Midway through, I'm feeling my arms go out.
Starting point is 00:12:06 I was like, oh, yeah, no, I got to change it up. Yeah. I got to change it up. You got a trainer? Yeah, yeah, I got a new trainer. I got a new trainer. I met him. It changed my life.
Starting point is 00:12:16 We train every day in New Orleans, Lydell, fast basketball. And, brother, the level of my training has with up. But when I went on page, I was like, oh, yeah, I got to train different. Because her pace pace her tempo Attention to detail. I was like why she different You seem to be a student of the game you see that areas that I'm deficient in I need to pick up this and I
Starting point is 00:12:36 Now I see Why she was player of the year now? I see why she won a national championship why I see why she's the number one overall draft pick Because the areas in that I'm deficient, I need to be stronger here. See, and that's why as an athlete, you always have to have a learning mind. Like you can't be too high up. Like you, I could have been like, yeah, I got clout.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Like, you know what I'm saying? I'm hot, I'm good too. But nah, I'm like, no, I'm trying to learn. Cause I learned that in the rap game. It was people in the house that rap better than me, that performed better than me. So get what I did. I took this, I took that, I took that, I took that,
Starting point is 00:13:06 and I put it in me. You know what I'm saying? So that's what I'ma do for all people that I work with, even my peers. Hey, you mentioned Caitlyn in the rap. Yeah. Why you put the, what made you do that? Because that was hard, and it came to my mind.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Double C on my jacket like. Caitlyn Clark, double C on my jacket. The Chanel one. Like Caitlyn Clark. I was like, when I did it, I was like, I was like, Dave, bro. Because the thing is, Caitlyn told me, like, when you going to put my name in a song? And I was like, bro, I got you.
Starting point is 00:13:39 That was like a year ago. And then I ended up doing it. And I didn't even tell her. I just posted it. She was like, oh, this hard. That was fine. I was like, yeah. Even though it seems to me, you lost to her
Starting point is 00:13:50 next time around in the Elite Eight, but it seems like you have the utmost respect for Caitlyn. Yeah, I do. I have respect for Caitlyn because she is like the biggest doing it. Like, you know what I'm saying? When somebody like that in your field, you gotta study them, like, you know what I'm saying? When somebody like that in your field, you gotta study them like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:14:08 You gotta see why are you like that? Like, what are your habits? And you know, we end up being like competitors, but you know, she was cool and I asked her questions and she'd be like, yeah, this is why I do this. This is how I work. You know what I'm saying? So she real genuine, but I like how I told you,
Starting point is 00:14:21 I like to learn from everybody. She got the, so I'm like, you know, like how your feet do like. You've been practicing them threes? Have I? I was. Cause I saw that game with it, you know, look, like y'all was behind, y'all tried to make a comeback, you just coming down the court, you wasn't even thinking about it, you just walk out.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Man, that my problem. Thinking about it. I gotta let it go. I gotta let it go. That's what I'm saying. Like, I'm telling y'all, I know who I am. Is Coach Moe gonna be okay with that? Oh, I ain't gonna let it go crazy Can CeeCee be letting that thing go? No, not like that. I ain't going Clayton Clark. I ain't shooting the hunt of the game
Starting point is 00:14:55 But but like, you know, I got some dogs with me So now like I could create for them like I want to show people I could create right, you know I got Michaela Williams got Malaysia for a while. You can talk about the game called transfer. Okay. Yeah, so you know I said I got some dogs on the court with me Kate Kovall in the post my mom like we know freshman coming So I got some dogs so it ain't it ain't a me show That's what I don't want people get that miss miss constru like I'm gonna win a national championship, right? You know I'm saying like I want to win so I'm trying to do it out Wow I like that juju
Starting point is 00:15:24 Obviously here's another one. It seemed like she was going to be the next, let me, Katelyn was doing Katelyn, and there she is, she steps in. She wins Player of the Year. She suffered a knee injury. Yeah. You studied her game?
Starting point is 00:15:38 You watched Juju? I didn't study her, but I always, you always knew her because she was always like, one of the top kids in basketball. That's one of the kids that I played in high school when I told you I went on my little tier. You gave her some work?
Starting point is 00:15:51 Oh yeah, for sure. In high school? Yeah. Oh man, that was great. I dropped by 20. And I was guarding her the whole game. But Juju, bro, she had a perfect situation, you know what I'm saying? And she's good. Yeah's good. Yeah, you know saying it was just hard to swatch that injury It was one of them games like you ain't even want to watch the game no more
Starting point is 00:16:12 Like how recently like, you know saying like you don't want to watch it no more So but I just love that she's the face You know over there in Kali like, you know, I said she really putting on like for USC You know saying the whole but but she doing her big one. Buying land. Yes. You bought 20 acres. What made you buy land?
Starting point is 00:16:31 What you gonna put on that land? Man, I got a development coming, so I'm really excited. Check out Behind the Flow, a podcast documentary series following the launch of San Diego Football Club. We go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved. San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer team.
Starting point is 00:16:57 We need veteran players and we need young players. Like you're building a team from scratch and so the succession plan of long-term success needs to be defined. We need to embrace this community. When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier and we watched Paraguay against Chile, pouring rain, just watching the fans jumping up and down. I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me. Not only was that going to be my game, but it was going to be my life. Listen to San Diego FC behind the flow. Now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts,
Starting point is 00:17:32 or wherever you get your podcasts. 25 years, 25 players. Before training camp kickstarts a new NFL season, NFL Daily is going to look back. It is a special six episode series where myself, Greg Rosenthal and some of the top NFL minds like Kevin Harlan, Mina Kimes and Bill Barnwell make the case for each player. We're taking a look back, giving you NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years. So who made the list?
Starting point is 00:18:03 You know, Tom Brady's on it. Where's Patrick Mahomes? Mahomes is into the end zone! Touchdown Kansas City! He's on it. How about Lamar Jackson? Jackson takes it himself. Look at him dart back and forth. Oh, he broke his ankles and he's got a touchdown. He is Houdini. You are going to have to listen to find out, listen to NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years starting on June 30th on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever
Starting point is 00:18:34 you get your podcasts. About that. But man, well maybe decided, I kind of just was like, mama, I think we should buy some land. Like, you know, I started, I don't know how people get rich and blow all their money, but I started looking at my money and I'm like, oh no, mom, we gotta invest in this, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:18:51 So she's like, yeah, let's start. And she got connected with some people. That was like my mom really pushing through. I always tell my mom, I wanna do this, I wanna do that. I wanna give back, I wanna, but she makes sure that I follow through, because I'm working every day. But my mama, man, she the brains behind it. What have you learned about money?
Starting point is 00:19:08 Because you said now that you are who you are, you're an elite ladies basketball, collegiate basketball player, you have NIL, you have, you're a rapper and you do your gigs. So what have Flau'jae learned most about money? Man, money, money brings good and bad attention. I feel like they be like the money change you,
Starting point is 00:19:36 but it don't really change you. Like it really changed a lot of the people how they view you. You know what I'm saying? And I'm starting to learn it cause I'm such a giver. Yes. I'm such a giver. And there are so many takers. My mom had to monitor my accounts like stop paying. She cut my checks in half like because she paid me through my business. She cut my checks in half. She's like you're giving away this money I know you are. She had to get off on everybody like don't call Flau'jae through the season and all of this.
Starting point is 00:20:05 And it's just like, I learned that people don't have no limits on like what they need, like, you know what I'm saying? That's why you have to put limits on what you give because takers will never put limit on what they take. So you have to be that stop gap. You have to be that roadblock. This it.
Starting point is 00:20:19 It's hard to say no to, but I'd be thinking like, bro, nobody ran these miles with me. Nobody was in here four hours a day, but it's hard, bro. It's hard to say no to, but I be thinking like, bro, nobody ran these miles with me. Nobody was in here four hours a day. But it's hard, bro. It's hard, for real, because you feel like guilt a little bit. You ever feel like guilt for making it, like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:20:35 Yeah, you do. I mean, I think that you said you were the one that ran the miles. I think the thing is that, like, for me, obviously, and then you start thinking like, okay, we're in a very similar situation. There are young ladies that went to the same high school,
Starting point is 00:20:54 that had the same opportunity. Did they do what I do? Did they get up? Did they, were they disciplined? Did they deny themselves? Did they, were they as dedicated as I was? Right, right, right. Like, mm.
Starting point is 00:21:07 I mean, obviously each situation is different. You, someone might have had that exact same situation with just as disciplined, just as motivated, just as determined, but they didn't have Dominique. You just dropped the bar. Me, there are guys that had the same situation, but they didn't have a Mary Porter. So now, but you still have to like,
Starting point is 00:21:33 okay, I wanna help people, but I can't save the world even one person at a time. Can't. Literally, that's why I be saying, I just wanna do better and try to be the best human I could be and when I have Kids and I start my family raise my kids to be better because that's just gonna have an effect on more people And that's the only thing you can do is just try to raise good kids and have them pouring to the world
Starting point is 00:21:54 You know what fly J? I can honestly say this you might be the first athlete that I've heard sick. I want family. I want kids Oh, yes You might be the first what I've heard say that I'm not gonna be playing basketball forever. No think I'm the only one. I think you might be the first one I've heard say that. I'm not going to be playing basketball forever. No, I'm trying to be 30, big and pregnant, and have my lineage. I do. I want to create some great human beings. You're going to name your son after your dad?
Starting point is 00:22:22 Yes, Jason. Ah! My name is Jason. You already talked to your people. I said this is a non-negotiable. Yeah, ain't no junior. Sorry. NIL, what advice would you give college kids? Because a lot of what they don't understand is that you gotta pay taxes on that. I hope you got your financial piece and got everything in order. So explain it to them because what they don't understand is that you gotta pay taxes on that. I hope you got your financial, got everything in order. So explain it to them,
Starting point is 00:22:49 because you know, you, you, you know. Okay, NIL athletes be smart. NIL athletes parents be smarter. Y'all need to tap in with my mom. I'm telling you like, my mom don't play. And people are taking advantage of these kids. Kids are having ages when they don't even need ages, they just taking the cut.
Starting point is 00:23:10 I wanna tell kids, like, I see all, it's a cycle. I see these LSU, not LSU, but it's college stars, they got on all the drip, they driving all the cars, it don't last. Like, the best thing you can do with your NIO is invest it. You know what I'm saying? The best thing you can do with your brand is grow it. The best thing you can do with your NIO is invest it. You know I'm saying the best thing you can do with your brand is grow it. The best thing you can do anything is invest because that four years are gonna be up in a flash. Yeah you can go by a fan. I'm a senior now. I thought I could milk this forever.
Starting point is 00:23:35 No. You know I'm saying like I'm going out the door so I tell people like let these four years set you up for your next 40. Don't blow them. Yes. Don't do that. Yeah because you know what I was having this conversation these four years set you up for your next 40. Don't blow them. Yes. Don't do that Yeah, because you know what? I was I was having this conversation. There's that man. Why you still work out like crazy I said, bro, I'm not working out for tomorrow. I'm working out for when I'm 60 and 70 feel good So you're not you you live in for you live you living for today But what about 10 years 15 20 years from now? It's so hard and I've lost so many friends because I feel like my friend, I feel like if you ain't motivated enough,
Starting point is 00:24:08 you can't be my friend. If you're not chasing after your dreams, you can't be my friend. I told my friend my goal is to be in Miami on a Tuesday, on a yacht, just because I felt like it. You know what I'm saying? And I had that dream since I was in high school. So I said, I miss out on the clubs, I miss out on this.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Because when we 30 and I could buy my section and you can't, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, so I said, I miss out on the clubs, I miss out on this, because when we 30 and I can buy my section and you can't, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got a bottle. You know what I'm saying? I'm picking where I want to go on vacation. And you got, no, I want to be free. I don't want that. Because I see my family, I see people in my,
Starting point is 00:24:36 I don't want to do that. I don't want to work forever. No. No. Let me ask you a question. Did you ever have a job when you was growing up? No. What? So you, your job was when you was growing up? No.
Starting point is 00:24:45 So your job was working out, getting ready for basketball. No job. Mom ain't play that though, but my mom was like, well, ooh, I did do DoorDash one time when I was in high school. You ain't eating people food, did you? No, I was good DoorDash driver. But I was in high school. I was sick of asking my mama for money, and you know what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:25:06 what I did was I took her car and put it around her number, because I couldn't do it, I was only 16, she had got me a rental. But I was doing that just so I could pay for my training and the gas and stuff like that, because I was just tired of asking my mama for money. But I knew I couldn't work a job, because I was on America's Got Talent,
Starting point is 00:25:21 I was on the rap game, I was like, nah, I'm gonna keep it on low. I was wearing like a ski mask and everything, and crumble cookie, grabbing people orders, bro. But that was like a humbling experience for me, but it really taught me like, if you really want something bad enough, you'll do anything to go do it. You know what I'm saying? I didn't mind.
Starting point is 00:25:36 But I never clocked in, I could never work under nobody. I could never work under nobody. This is what I tell people all the time. I say, when you're young, work a lot of different jobs because it'll let you know what you don't wanna do when you get older. Yeah, wow. I mean, I had a lot of jobs growing up. I did a lot of manual labor, worked into the fields,
Starting point is 00:25:53 whether it was tobacco, clipping onions, tomatoes, watermelon, baling hay, catching chickens, poor concrete, laid ash. I did all of that. Oh, you did it all. I did all that. Yeah. But it let me know, that ain't what I wanna do. I I mean this was back making job when I'm 18, 19, 20, 12. You think I want to be doing this when I'm 30, 40, 50? With no health insurance? Ah, making a hundred dollars a day? No sir. I just can't have no boss. I can't have nobody telling me,
Starting point is 00:26:21 hey what you, who are you talking to? No, I can't do it. I'm looking at these deals. You got deals with Puma, Meta, JBL, Taco Bell, Tender, Intuit, Turbo Tax, Invisalign, Power A, Papa John's, Amazon, Doritos, Samsung, Oreos, Raising Cane. Raising Cane's like that. Campus Ink. Hey, I get that combo. I get that six to the combo. Yes. X to the sauce. Six? Yeah, I get that combo. I get that 60 on the combo. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:45 X of the sauce. Six? Yeah, I get the six. Six, you think that's a lot for me? Nah, you right, you right. You at least a four, I bet you get at least a four pack. I get a little four pack. That's it.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I've been fooling around because I bought my bread and everything. Butter on both sides. Yeah. What, yes. I mean, what have you learned about those contracts? Because obviously a lot of times, like what people don't understand are like,
Starting point is 00:27:07 these people want to meet Flau'jae. They want to see who's representing their brand and make sure that person that they're sending out there that has their name, their visa line, their taco bell, the Puma, whatever, make sure she's a great representation of us. Facts, and that's why, bro, it's so hard, though, boy, because you would have a bad game, right?
Starting point is 00:27:26 And your only off day is after the game, and you got to go on a set with these folks for eight hours, and you just trying your best. Because you know, like, no, this my first impression of them. Like, this is their first impression of me. Yes, yes, yes. They're ever going to be me. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:27:37 So even though I meet a million fans, right? That's why I don't ever judge celebrities, but you meet a million fans, and then that one fan, you like, man, I don't wanna take no pictures. Then they like, dang, I met Floss, you went cool, but you done met a hundred more people, you know what I'm saying? You done took 999,000 pictures
Starting point is 00:27:51 of that one that you didn't. Exactly, and now that's my impression though, cause they only meeting me for this first time, even though I done been on millions of sets, I done met millions of people. So I try to give all of the energy I can. I try to show them like, this is who I am. Like, even when I'm going through whatever, this is who I am.
Starting point is 00:28:06 If you're having a bad day, do you go out? Because sometimes, if I'm having a bad day, if I say, you know what, I just go to work and just go home. Because they don't sense me being around people because I don't really want to be bothered. So you know what, to keep from my negative energy spilling off on somebody else or coming out, I just go ahead and stay home and just chalk this one up
Starting point is 00:28:22 to the game. In fact, when I'm mad, you know what I'm saying, I just, I go listen to music, I go to the casino. And you blackjack always get me in a good mood. I play craps, you know what I'm saying. I like to go to the gun range and stuff. So you like to do guy things? I'm a country girl, yes. I've been in the tomboy growing up. I like a country girl, yes. I'm a tomboy growing up. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:28:47 I'll be outside. You had a shoe deal out of high school? Yes. With a Puma? I got a Puma deal. I don't get in a jail. What y'all know about the, hold on. I'm trying to figure out what you know
Starting point is 00:28:57 about the fat run DMC shoes trade. Oh man, I know about all of that. And these Ferrari Pumas, you see that? I see that tag on there. What, I ain't never seen them before. Come on now, big folk. You lock in, I have them at your door. Do they have size 13?
Starting point is 00:29:13 They got them, man, this Puma, man, come on now. I just said they got a size 13. I thought you, you know, I thought you gonna come in like the three wise men bearing gifts. Let me make the call, let me make the call, KB, let me make the call, make the call. Let me make the call. KB. Let me make the call. But nah man this was great because when I got this shoe did that was high school 2022. Yeah. Man I was going to a Nike school. Yeah. You know what I'm saying like NIO had just happened so for me to get that type of
Starting point is 00:29:36 dude I got that was. You like okay. I was like there's a lot more this came from a must be. Yeah for sure. Yeah. You tied those shoe strings yourself? Yeah, no I was rushing. Bro, I'm telling you it was a hard morning. I was rushing but these are jumbo and these are XL. See these are suede but they XL. This is the new look. I see. Yeah. Yeah. I sure wish I had me a size 13. Say less. Say less. Say less. You know we could have been twins on here.. I saw, I got you when my P.E. come out. Okay, I take that. What WNBA player you think has the best P.E., best signal shoe?
Starting point is 00:30:11 Ooh, and I'm not saying this because you put me, but Stewie, like when she came out with her Stewie 2, gas. You know I go to a Nike school, so all the people be wearing like, Sabrina's and stuff. I like the Jomarant's though, you know what I'm saying? I saw you just came out with Sabrina's and stuff. Yeah. I like the Jomarant's though. Okay I saw you just came out with a new shoe too. Yeah, Jocco. You like that?
Starting point is 00:30:29 If I gotta wear it I'm gonna wear Jom. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But you are, but I like the, but because I was like oh she went to a Nike school so I'm like how did that go? But they understand like like when I'm on the court I gotta wear Nike but when I'm when I'm off my leisure time I got you. Right and workout in Puma, I perform in them, I just do everything in them, I love them. Okay. I love them. This equid, three on three, Unrivaled.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Yeah. Now, a lot of the, I've heard Adam, you know, I'm reading, try to stay abreast, try to breath, you know, cause we gonna talk about the WNBA and what's going on. Fee, Nafisha Collier, I think, Stewie. Ooh, I think I see you. But Fee is like the WNBA representative
Starting point is 00:31:12 that's talking to the league about getting these things. But she's also an investor in ownership at stake and unrivaled at three on three. And people are like, well, hold on. She gets the benefit either way way so it's not like and she said no there's no conflict of interest look I want the best for the WNBA but I'm also an investor in unrivaled. I think she like well the WNBA they definitely turn it up because the money they paying them girls at Unrivaled for two months, like it's up there.
Starting point is 00:31:49 They played some money. I see what they saying, but you know, I think, bruh, this ain't a moment of where, you know, fear somebody would try to do something prideful because this is pushing women's basketball. This is bigger than, you know what I'm saying? So I don't think she'll take that route. You know how social media get, but Unrivaled, the way that was rolled out, the way, you know what I'm saying? So I don't think she'll take that route. You know how social media get, but. But on Rival, the way that was rolled out, the way, you know. It was good, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Whoa. Yeah, it was good. So the WNBA gotta come. For sure. I'm just trying to figure out, your mom is your manager. Yes. Now obviously I always tell people that get someone you can trust,
Starting point is 00:32:20 and sometimes we start out trusting people, but we can't always trust people. Right. But obviously if you can't trust your mom, well damn. Right, you got a hard going. Yeah, yeah, but damn. Your car is dealt with. It be like that too though. So when you like, okay, you go into college,
Starting point is 00:32:36 obviously you sit down with your mom. For me, I'm thinking you and your mom have a very different type of relationship. I know that's your mom, but y'all kinda like, I guess y'all look like best friends. Cause y'all get on the phone and y'all talk for like hours at a time, don't you? Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:49 My mom is definitely my bestie, like, we go through tea together. But that's my dog, like, and you know, I love me and my mom's relationship because we grew together. Yes. And I can hold her accountable and she can hold me accountable.
Starting point is 00:33:01 She's like, flaw, now I'ma give, like, that was wrong. And I ain't like that. I tell her, mom, you wrong, mom. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, you my mom, but you wrong on that one. You know what I'm saying? So we could have those conversations and you know, we grow from it, but it was hard for her
Starting point is 00:33:13 being my manager at first, because we used to butt heads. Right. This is my money, you would try to. No, no, never no money, because you and my mom are good with the money. But it was more so like, just girl teenage stuff, she get on my nerves, because because she knows something but she don't you know you know she was kind of your age
Starting point is 00:33:29 I was just going to say she was right though she was right but I'm still gonna go like I'm your mini me so we all but we worked through that and like she's a great manager like who you could trust nobody gonna negotiate your deals better than your mom but she it took a lot of trial and error for her to learn but my mama she was a hustler so she was going in these deals i'm like mama just just talk yeah you know what i'm saying you don't don't mess the mud up now mama don't don't talk check out behind the flow a podcast documentary series following the launch of san diego football club we go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved.
Starting point is 00:34:05 San Diego coming to MLS is gonna be a game changer because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer team. We need veteran players and we need young players like you're building a team from scratch and so the succession plan of long-term success needs to be defined. We need to embrace this community. When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier, and we watched Paraguay against Chile, pouring rain, just watching the fans jumping up and down. I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Not only was that going to be my game, but it was going to be my life. Listen to San Diego FC Behind the Flow. Now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 25 years, 25 players. Before training camp kickstarts a new NFL season, NFL Daily is going to look back. We're taking a look back, giving you NFL Daly's top 25 players of the last
Starting point is 00:35:18 25 years. So who made the list? You know, Tom Brady's on it. Where's Patrick Mahomes? Mahomes is under the end zone! Touchdown Kansas City! He's on it. How about Lamar Jackson? Jackson takes it himself. Look at him dart back and forth. Oh, he broke his ankles and he's got a touchdown. He is Houdini. You are going to have to listen to find out, listen to NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years starting on June 30th on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:35:52 Don't be out of a deal. Nah, she talk you into one. Keeya J. Brooks, man, she good at what she do. She internet that Puma deal, all my deals. Wow, that's awesome. Yeah, she get deals for other people. How has she protected you ma'am? You know
Starting point is 00:36:09 Man, it's like the quarterback right you know you got your line I'm just lying to protect to make sure though nothing happens You know that's like she play all those you got security guard in the bank. You got the vault back there You don't make sure don't nobody go in there and get the money Don't nobody go in the vault that ain't supposed to be in the vault Yeah, don't nobody get close to Flage that ain't supposed to be close to Flage My mama street smart though, like she's from Savannah Savannah. Yeah. Yeah. So she's street Yeah, be rolled up a street. Yeah, she was on my piss
Starting point is 00:36:37 So she's street So my mom she don't let nobody play with her she like I feel like mom you on point. She's not scared though No, she's not intimidated by nothing. So that's just her best quality. I think Maybe it's an LSU thing cuz you know, Jayden Daniels And she don't play by him. Yeah, Regina don't play Let me ask you a question because I don't think I've ever seen Jaden in which I haven't seen his mom. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:10 So Super Bowl or events or things like that, I see, if I see him, I see her. Is your mom, does your mom travel with you like that? Oh, I can't do that. Not everywhere, you don't see her every day. She with the kids. She come to the bigger stuff. She gonna be at the ESPYs and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:37:27 I was like, we gonna share this moment, but every day, no, you know what I'm saying? Just because she don't have to be, I got four little brothers, so she be taking in the practice, all of that. So her and my stepdad switching and out. But I ain't gonna lie, but I guess what though, messing with Miss Regina, Jayden Daniel,
Starting point is 00:37:41 he ain't gonna crash out, these folks. He gonna keep her, you gonna, these millions gonna be secured. Yeah. So you need that sometimes. And you know, people, people was going in to like that man can't have no life. That's a grown man. But she's like, nah, he worked too hard to be in the, and to be in this position and to have him to mess it up.
Starting point is 00:38:00 I would just literally talk about it at my trainer. Cause you know, I just seem like, you like you know you know it's a whole situation like the Kyron, the LSU, you know I'm saying that whole situation then these folks they're throwing their careers away like drinking and driving and DUI seeing a football player so I'm just like what is that why does that always happen bro every year it's a new person you know I'm saying and it's just about the people that be around you so sometimes that might be overbearing like my mom like bro you don't have to do I'm good she it's just about the people that be around you so sometimes they might be overbearing like my mom like bro
Starting point is 00:38:25 You don't have to do She's like no cuz you don't know who you are like you got something to lose now So I feel like you need some people like that around you You donated alone you donated ten point nine me is that true no I'm gonna go back to college. I'm about to reverse my age. I'm about to be 22. I'm about to be 18. That was cap.
Starting point is 00:38:49 But I did relieve $5 million in debt for families in Louisiana. I partnered with Experian and we did this whole, we won, we added like $600,000 to the pot. So it was like $5.6 million. Damn. Yeah. And people was like tagging me like, fly. You on my mail, your face on my mail, you just relieved my debt.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Like it was real, like it was crazy. Man, oh, so can you give me a couple of points with my credit? You know I'm saying I don't. You know that trans you, you're the ankle facts and experience, you know, credit. You know I know. So, hook it up, hook it up for you.
Starting point is 00:39:19 I might know a few people. But now, I have done so much in the community. I'm working on building this community center in Savannah. Going through a lot of loops and holes but it's okay. And but man like every new year I do this give back and we're doing it this year. Is it the 25th? July 25th through the 26th. In Savannah? What? Come home boy be telling me all the time. He said ma'am when Flage come back he's a homeboy she has 18 wheelers. And they be backed up.
Starting point is 00:39:46 And they have backpacks. And they have computers. And they say, homeboy, I have never, ever seen anything like this in the Pope. We did it at the Civic Center last year. Tell Puma, you want to make sure they come flood the kids out. And they nice shoes, because kids getting bullied and stuff, you want to make sure kids have whatever they need to make their school year go off right, start off right and um
Starting point is 00:40:11 a lot of these kids they can't afford that. No. You know what I'm saying they can't afford the school clothes they can't afford all of that so that's just a little kick a little helping hand and I know it ain't a lot but I try to do so much more every year like we try we gave up way over like six figures and like shoes, book bags, like school supplies, all of that to the kids and we're trying to do a bigger this year. Was that always the aspiration of yours? Was that always big on your heart to like you know what? Did you ever think you'd be in this position where you could give back like you're giving back? I never knew I would but I
Starting point is 00:40:40 always told myself if I made it I'm gonna make sure I help these kids. Because I was just a kid with a dream, and I had the resources. But so many kids don't have... You know how bad, like, something so small, like a kid got a hole in his shoe, that a test hole, man. I was like, I'm about to go rob this place, because I don't have no shoes. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? So it's like, maybe you could say something from that.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Yeah, you could tell him he could be the kick on the football team, because he better kick the ball with that toe out. Oh my gosh. But you know, we had a joke. Now if you from Savannah, you know about Joni. Hey, we go get, hey. Bro. Hey, we get on you, now hey.
Starting point is 00:41:18 That's just, that's a Savannah thing. Exactly, but you know what I'm saying? It's different now, cause these kids, Yeah, it's different. The economy bad right now. It is. So got to lend a hand and we're gonna do it the biggest way. Savannah, Georgia, make sure y'all be there. Yeah, I'm seeing this now. I'm glad you got to it. You eliminated medical debt, credit card debt, and other financial burdens over 5,000 African-American
Starting point is 00:41:42 families in Louisiana. Yes. How did that make you feel? Man, that made me feel like accomplished. You the queen of the bayou. No, it made me feel like accomplished because it was like you changing lives. For sure. You know what I'm saying? You know without credit you can't get nothing.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Not a thing. Boy, you can get it, but you go down there and pay for half of it at the time you get it. Right. And so I'm talking, boy, you can get it, but you go down there and pay for half of it at the time you get it. Right. And so it was amazing, bro, like, cause just seeing the response and how much money and people were actually affecting real humans.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Yes. This one though, like, okay, I'm gonna do an NIO deal, you know what I'm saying? I'm gonna give OOTA a charity of my kind. No, this was actual real people getting real money and debt cleared off and helping them kickstart their life. So it was great Dating you build you build your guy for a minute now. Yeah
Starting point is 00:42:31 You guys make because for the longest now y'all kill you kept that on the hook you kept that on the deal Hey, you stay over here. Hey, like he was like a cat You ain't know you had a cat just saw to come over to the house You keep a cat shut up the dog outside walking around you a walkie cat So you kept him like a cat didn't nobody know they had it today come over to the house you keep a cat shut up the dog outside walking around you awoke a cat so you kept him like a cat then nobody know they had him till they went over to the apartment Flau'jae and then all of a sudden Flau'jae pop out. I know. How was you back then like hold on whoa whoa whoa whoa why I got to be why I got to be on the back burner why can't nobody know about me? Well no see
Starting point is 00:43:02 it's not even like that and like we literally just had a conversation I was like I'm thinking about like just had a conversation. I was like, man, I'm thinking about just deleting all of our stuff, because I don't want people in my business no more. You know what I'm saying? At first, it was cute. We fought it out. But now, no, I want to get out of it.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Everybody got an opinion about your relationship. Yes, and it's just like, I just want to keep something of my life private. Yes. You know what I'm saying? And he's like, yeah, I get that. I get that. Of course, you want to show off who you love.
Starting point is 00:43:26 I don't want to be all out, because these people they make up stuff, say it's narratives, it's all of this. Because you do real life logic, if you date publicly, you got to break up publicly. Exactly, I said that! I was like, bro, we can't even. Because the moment all of a sudden they see you,
Starting point is 00:43:39 you go two posts and he ain't in it, you don't fly gay with him. Literally, literally, yeah. They be like, yeah, it's a whole lot that go with that. But I, you know, I'm not going to say too much, but I will say I have like a great guy. Yeah. He's like, he really prays a lot.
Starting point is 00:43:55 And he's literally connected to God. And I feel like our relationship grew because of our connection to God. So I really love that. And you know, he's about to be the top wide receiver coming out. OK, that was really good. And I let you just to let y'all know It's a little athletic baby AHHHHH
Starting point is 00:44:08 6, 7 like But um nah yeah like Um way long from now But yeah like you know he's the top wide receiver coming out of LSU so y'all be on the lookout How have you been able to stay focused on what you need to focus on, allow him to stay focused on what he needs to focus on, you guys come together, but block out the outside noise? It's so cool because I met somebody on my schedule.
Starting point is 00:44:37 He wake up every morning at 5 a.m. He go to treatment, training, football, all of that. I do my treatment, training, football, all of that. He texts me before his workout, be great. I text him, be great. Like, you know what I'm saying? We're really pushing each other. Do y'all see each other through the course of the day? Like, do y'all got classes?
Starting point is 00:44:50 Yeah, like, sometimes, like, he'll go, like, usually we see each other, like, like, no, not during the day. We usually just see each other at night. Like, we have dinner or whatever. But, like, it's so cool because it's like, I don't want him to have more workouts than me during the day. Like, I be telling him, like, yeah, I worked out harder than you today. I'm not gonna lie like I laughed you like you know I said I'll come watch him catch he'll come help me rebound like he really like I want you to be great and I see
Starting point is 00:45:12 The goals that he have right see the goals that I have and I'm like bruh imagine We just keep pushing each other and we just push each other on our own goals But like together like that's fire and so I'll just try to support and he just try to keep me on my course That's awesome. Yeah, I'll just try to support him and he just try to keep me on my course. That's awesome. That's great. You signed to Rock Nation. Rihanna, J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, Meg, Doja Cat, Alicia Keys, ASAP.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Yeah. I mean, what does it feel like to be on that roster? I mean, it'd be like, if he out in the WNBA, it's like an all-star game. And I got A.J. Wilson, I got Stewie, I got this one on my team, I got that one on, I mean, you got a who's who. What a list.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Yeah. Bro, like really like, it's inspiration cause it's like I gotta grind it out. Like these people are up here, I'm looking at, at Roc Nation, looking at their numbers and looking at my numbers, I'm like, I got a lot of work to do. But it's inspiring being in this building.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Like, man, it's just like, you know you in the right place at the right time, you know what I'm saying? And you know, just shout out to the team. You ever met Hov? No, I haven't met Hov. I haven't met Hov at all. Mello. LaMelo, he with Puma.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Yeah, he with Puma Sports. I just seen him at Summer League. Man, he's the coldest. You the? What? And the coolest. I got to fly on his private jet one time. What?
Starting point is 00:46:26 Yes, from, I don't remember, Miami to, it dropped him off to Charlotte, then I went to Atlanta in the private jet. He let me stay on and took an extra trip. He was just there, it was him and his girl, his homie, and for my first time being on a private jet. You're like, I can get used to this. My first time, boy, I was like, he was just listening to music, laying back the whole time. But he was cool, like, and that was crazy,
Starting point is 00:46:49 because I used to look up to him, like high school, you watched Chino Hills and the Ball Brothers, so I was geeking a little bit. I didn't say nothing about him. So that's your favorite, like Mello, you watched him in high school, you watched him grow up, and now all of a sudden you're like, man, we were at the same company.
Starting point is 00:47:04 Now we're at the same company, like we peers. And I'm on the private jet. Yeah, that's how life work, bruh. You don't get a PJ? When I get some mellow money, I get no mellow pooma bucks. I'm going to be up in them. But yeah, I'm definitely the PJ for the team for the day ones. You're a woman's rapper.
Starting point is 00:47:25 I mean, a lot of times you say female, but I don't want to get beat up because it's out of this ladies, it's women, it's not female. So I'll be, make sure I'm very specific in what I say. Is that your favorite, you mentioned like, you're like, man, there were some great ones and you know, you got Lil' Kim and you got Nicky and you got Meg and you got this one and that one.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Is that if you could, now what happens when you get so great at one, it impacts the other. Yeah. Have you thought about that? Yeah. I thought about it but I think like it'll be so cool. My music really blows up. Yeah, your music blow up, and then all of a sudden, you get like Nicki or Meg or Glorilla or Flo Milli. I don't know, something got to give.
Starting point is 00:48:18 It's hard to be historical and be great at two things simultaneous. I know, that's why I'm doing it. I want to be that one that they like, wow, like. That's how you become iconic. You don't come iconic being the girl that almost did it. Y'all, she almost, boy, if she woulda just, oh no. I'm not in the game of almost.
Starting point is 00:48:38 I am 21 years old, I'm building my legacy in basketball. But? Oh, I'm still building. And I'm gonna crack that code with that music and once I crack that code man. How you gonna crack the code with music when you got to record and you got to go on tour? Because I'm gifted and I'm spiritually connected to the source. I can't do it by myself. Right. I'm not gonna lie if I try to do it without God I fall apart but God
Starting point is 00:49:04 give me that extra strength when I don't want to work out after I've been in the studio life like God just give me the strength I tried to do it without God, I'd fall apart, but God give me that extra strength. When I don't want to work out after I've been in the studio a lot, I'd be like, God, just give me the strength real quick to do this workout. You know what I'm saying? You need that extra push. But I'ma do it though. The best rap you've ever written or have you not written it yet?
Starting point is 00:49:19 The best rap I've written. Let me tell you, it's this rap. If I'm ready and not freestyle, I feel like that's the best because I spoke on everything. You can feel it. If I rap right now, it'll give you chills. Well, go ahead and do that. Let me tell you what you can't do. It's like this, look.
Starting point is 00:49:34 It's crazy, I'm the one they want to represent. Young black girl, I could probably be the president. I'm the voice of the youth. You hear my tone, I think it's evident. I know who I am. They mistake my confidence for arrogance. I think it's different, because I don't take my clothes off. I just play my role, I think it's evident I know who I am, they mistake my confidence for arrogance I think it's different, cause I don't take my clothes off I just play my role dawg, I can't sell my
Starting point is 00:49:49 soul y'all I just shoot a three, put my arm up, I guess I show off They sleep, I let them doze off, wake em up oh yeah it's roll call My chocolate is beautiful, rockin it per usual I'm loving every piece man, from my top into my cuticles Tryna play with my head, real love won't be confusing you I learn make sure the one you put in first is also choosing you, man. Life is so crazy.
Starting point is 00:50:06 Many lessons and blessings. I'm steady stressing perfection. I keep neglecting my ethics. So much text and the message. I'm trying to lessen my stressing. Finally understand my power. My presence is essence. They killed my daddy when my mama was pregnant.
Starting point is 00:50:17 How I'm supposed to feel? And they took my grandma child from her. How she supposed to heal? And we out here starving. Ain't got nothing. How we supposed to give? Seemed like the system they set us up and we supposed to fail I'm so real the mayor gave me a day in my city
Starting point is 00:50:28 But it's so sad that I can't even go and stay in my city shooting and killing little kids can't even play in my city It's so wicked. They killed my dad and brought day in my city, but I still love them I give them all the time that I got is running out, but I give you all the time that I got you was the fakers Check out behind the flow a podcast documentary you with the fake is on. Check out Behind the Flow, a podcast documentary series following the launch of San Diego Football Club. We go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved. San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer
Starting point is 00:51:02 team. We need veteran players and we need young players. Like, you're building a team from scratch. And so the succession plan of long-term success needs to be defined. We need to embrace this community. When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier and we watched Paraguay against Chile, pouring rain,
Starting point is 00:51:22 just watching the fans jumping up and down. I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me. Not only was that going to be my game, but it was going to be my life. Listen to San Diego FC Behind the Flow. Now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 25 years, 25 players. Before training camp kickstarts a new NFL season, NFL Daily is going to look back. It is a special six episode series where myself, Greg Rosenthal and some of the top NFL minds like Kevin Harlan, Mina Kimes, and Bill Barnwell make the case for
Starting point is 00:52:01 each player. We're taking a look back, giving you NFL Daly's top 25 players of the last 25 years. So who made the list? You know Tom Brady's on it. Where's Patrick Mahomes? Mahomes is under the end zone! Touchdown, Kansas City! He's on it.
Starting point is 00:52:18 How about Lamar Jackson? Jackson takes it himself. Look at him dart back and forth. Oh, he broke his ankles and he's got a touchdown. He is Houdini. You are going to have to listen to find out, listen to NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years starting on June 30th on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. I reminisce when I just think and I pause. My mama told me, you keep shooting for the moon, you gonna have a seat with them stars on God. I like that.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Wow. That's the realest thing I ever heard. That's one take. One take Drake. That's the realest thing I ever heard. Okay, well tell me this right here. Who's the best athlete rapper? Me.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Come spit after me with that. Okay, so you going in front of Dame, Shaq, LiAngelo, AI, Kobe. Line them up. R.I. Peter Kobe but line them up. I mean I would just say like you know what I'm saying okay from a music standpoint like Shaq got like a Grammy or a platinum record. I don't have that yet. But you will get that. I'm going to get get that that's in the future but I'll wrap me come on man I wrapped on a track with Lil Wayne what and we put I performed it at the ESPYS in front of Lil Wayne and we shot the video the night before the
Starting point is 00:53:56 ESPYS. Lil Wayne said my lyrics in his verse like you know I seen him my verse when he said his birth back like he paid paid homage, so I got to go. What's it like? Because I think Lil Wayne, I mean, I don't think people sometimes give Wayne the credit that he deserves. He's an alien. Hey, I just saw the thing where he did with Imagine Dragon,
Starting point is 00:54:15 and I saw the one he did with the Fugees. You see him when he rap with the Fugees on stage and freestyle the whole verse? Yes, he did Imagine Dragon. Go back and look at the one he did with Imagine Dragon. What are we talking about? Come on, greatest of the generation. He is.
Starting point is 00:54:31 He is. Wayne had a crazy run and he produced, he birthed Nicky and Drake. Two goats that's bigger than him. Like that's crazy. Yeah. He got that. What's it like to be in,
Starting point is 00:54:44 I mean I can just imagine what it's like to be in the studio or to be around or be in the presence of somebody like Wayne, somebody that's an apex at the apex, the crescendo of what they do. Yeah, I lost my mind. That's when I realized God was telling me like, no, fly, keep going with the music. Like it's gonna happen like, cause when the greatest in the world do a song with you off the love, like, it's different, like that's like,
Starting point is 00:55:11 he show love, anything you need I got you, like just let me know, like that's my guy. And so when he do that to you, that's just sometimes God just give you them little sprinkles of no, keep going, uh uh, here you go, you're supposed to be on this, you know what I'm saying, chorus, so it is give me confidence
Starting point is 00:55:27 You can only have one you get one or the other you can't have them both a WNBA championship or rap Grammy That's crazy. Ahhhh. Ahhhh. Oh, it's harder than you thought, huh? I can't have both, that's crazy. Can't have both, you got to pick one or the other. Why are you limiting me?
Starting point is 00:55:54 No, one or the other. Um, Grammys will come with the time I have for music, but man, winning the championship, I'm a competitor. I want to be known as the best simple and plain you know in a whole lot of whip there been a lot of women that one up NBA the WNBA title right ain't been a whole lot of women exactly the rap Grammy exactly it oh I
Starting point is 00:56:18 know nigga but I don't think she even win to grammar. Think about that. So I got time, boy. I get fired up by this. See into the future. Like that's so random. But look, there have been some criticisms saying you spend too much time rapping. Yeah. Not enough time in the jail,
Starting point is 00:56:40 but it's what they don't see. Yeah. You might spend, you might spend an hour rapping four hours in the gym but they only talking about the hour that they saw. Right, because that hour go viral. This is my thing. I noticed that right and I'm type I'm like a quiet person. So I was like I don't care let them talk let them think that I'm gonna produce right but I was like forget that they need to tell I need to tell the story because they not gonna believe it till
Starting point is 00:57:04 they see it. So that's why I got my man, JV, right there behind the camera. We've been just documenting my whole summer. Y'all not going to believe this. My trainer, we do two workouts a day. When we're going to go to LA, we're going to work out two times a day, every day, while I'm getting ready for the ESPYs, while I'm doing more media,
Starting point is 00:57:23 while I'm meeting with Snapchat, met and all. I make sure I have to keep the main thing the main thing. Because I know I've got the ESPYs, or I'm doing more media, or I'm meeting with Snapchat meta. I make sure I keep the main thing the main thing. Cause I know I gotta work twice as hard cause I know I'm doing something else. Let me ask you this. Do you think people wanna see Flau'jae fail? I don't think people understand how Flau'jae is gonna be successful.
Starting point is 00:57:40 I think it's too much for the mind to fathom. But by the time they be like, oh, it's gonna be too late. I'm already be there. So I don't think they want me to fail. I just don't think they understand the amount of Success I'm gonna have in greatness. I'm gonna I'm gonna occupy that space What have you learned about friendships relationships? Since you've been this flagey flagey in high school is one thing. There's a whole different animal now.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Yeah, it's weird. I'm so friendly and I trust people so quick and people don't have genuine, they don't give me that genuine energy back. And that's kinda annoying. I see why people get to the point where they don't be messing with people no more. Cause you get bit so many times, they just bite you, and especially you got that
Starting point is 00:58:25 giving heart, so I just learned that. I try to just keep my family close to me. My mom, my realest friend, my best friend from middle school. You're starting five. College collegiate basketball women. I'm going to give you some names to pick from. All right. Kaitlyn Clark, Breonna Stewart, Cheryl Swoops, Candace Parker, Maya Moore, DT, BG,
Starting point is 00:58:49 Sue Bird, Cheryl Swoops, Asia Wilson, Skyla Diggins. You're gonna get fired. Okay I gotta go Maya Moore if you know you know. You know you know. Shoot. Candice Parker, MVP and a rookie of the year in the same season. Yep. Need it. Brittany Griner. BG. No, 6'10". Yep.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Do everything. Yep. 6'10". Where we at? Oh yeah, we need a shooter. We got to go Caitlin on the shot. OK. So your choices remain.
Starting point is 00:59:24 You got Breonna Stewart. Breonna Stewart Stewart four-time college champion nobody ever done For four college four national championships for our most outstanding players three players of the year come on I don't know who will ever see that again literally Yeah, I love Asia off though. You should do that one. I can't do that one Well, if you put her on, you gotta take somebody off. I tell you what, you know what I'll, cause I don't want nobody fall out with you. I'm gonna let you have a sixth man.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Sixth man, Asia. Damn, Asia coming out the bench, huh? Wait, who? No, no. No, Asia gotta go be on before Britney. I ain't gonna hold her. I ain't gonna hold her. Asia gotta get that started. Of all the people that I've named on this list, who would you most want to play with? Probably Maya Moore.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Only because she a winner, bro. Her lifetime record. She went to Collins Hills, so I follow her. Bro, 36 games, like I want to go play with a winner. What's your mentality? Yeah. Favorite basketball movie? Lovin' Basketball.
Starting point is 01:00:30 Why'd I know you was gonna say that? But hold up, okay, I gotta talk five. Lovin' Basketball, we got Coach Carter. Okay. Hurricane Season, if you know, you know. Okay. Like Mike. Okay.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Jesus Shutterworth. Jesus said it worth it. He got games? Yup, that one. That's my top. I knew you was going to say love and basketball. I knew you was going to say that. Easily. That's sound tricky. Classic. Now, let's get to the sport that your boyfriend plays. LSU.
Starting point is 01:01:02 You know much about LSU football? I know everything about LSU football I know everything about okay. Well, I'm a super fan You mentioned job, uh, burrowing one of you. Yeah, I got an LSU and I'll be ripping it like I'm Joe burrow Joe burrow like I sound real country Joe burrow like he's like a icon. Yeah, he came in 2019 and brought the chip For sure. All right. Give me your Mount Rushmore LSU players. I'm gonna give you choices now. These are all these guys you were there when they were Justin Jefferson, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, OBJ,
Starting point is 01:01:36 Honey Badger, Tyra Matthews, Jayden Daniels. Now the guy that's not on this list you don't know but Billy Cannon he was the first guy to win a Heisman Trophy. Yeah, okay. That's crazy. So you only got, you do realize, like, Mount Rushmore, it's only like four. Four, four. We gonna go Honey Badger. Okay, we gonna go Joe Burrow.
Starting point is 01:02:03 Who was the running back? We had a running back. Clyde Edward DeLarri? Not him, right? Maybe. I don't know. Justin and Jamar. Like, that's crazy. Damn. Who else on there? Jaden Daniels.
Starting point is 01:02:20 I'm putting Jaden. Jaden Daniels, only because he didn't, like, win for real. But he had a historic season. I'm taking Honey Badger out. Jayden Daniels only because he didn't like win for real, but he had a historic season. Oh, I'm taking Honey Badger out for Jayden Daniels. Damn. Sorry. I'm sorry. So you got Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Chase, and Jayden Daniels. Two quarterbacks to receive. They're gonna hate my list. I don't care. Yeah. That's your list. I like my list. Your most famous alum, LSU, Shack. Your most famous alum, LSU, Shaq. He loves his LSU Tigers. He rep his athletes. He loves his athletes. From Joe Burrow to Angel. Shaq, have you given him any advice? You talk about
Starting point is 01:03:07 a guy that knows how to market. You talk about a guy that knows how to market you talk about a guy that knows how to you know he was a hell of a collegiate basketball player hell of an NBA player champion MVP but boy he's been better at marketing. They talk about it all the time Tommy Caron at LSU he'd be helping me with some situations but he like helped Shaq like with media when he first started out, and so I'll be talking to him sometimes. I gotta get back on him, but Shaq's portfolio is the most impressive business portfolio that I've seen, and my coach coached him, Coach Bob Starkey, so he'd be telling him like,
Starting point is 01:03:38 no, you gotta watch Shaq, you gotta do what he did, like as far as business and all the companies and things he overlaid. It's just incredible. What Shaq has done a great job of is like, a lot of the stuff that Shaq represents, Shaq eats. Right. He eats Papa John, and he eats those pretzels, and he 24-hour fitness, and you know, the general. That was the insurance that he had when he was in college. So it's a natural integration, and it's not fake.
Starting point is 01:04:03 That's how it should be. Because you look at Shaq and you can like, I can see Shaq eating poppy, y'all. I can see Shaq using the general, the insurance company. So it's so easy and he comes off, he's like, and he's just a big, he's a seven foot, 300 plus pound kid. That's crazy, bro.
Starting point is 01:04:23 And that's how I think about my NIO deals. I'm not finna do a deal if I don't see myself being long term. Right. It's something I don't enjoy. Right. He doing it the right way. He doing it the right way. Now, goals. As we sit here and tape this interview or as we're starting to wind down, I come back and I sit down and I talk with Flau'jae two years, three years, four years, five years from now. Well, okay, I've probably been done built my Recreation Center for the kids. Okay. I probably be on my second album about right now. Okay. Probably like my third year in the league Getting you know getting right with the W
Starting point is 01:05:04 You'll hear me in a lot more business endeavors getting right with the W. You'll hear me in a lot more business endeavors, business ventures, investments and things of that nature, still building land and communities and developments. The future is looking bright, man. It's looking bright. Five years I should be on that Grammy nomination list, so I'm giving myself some time.
Starting point is 01:05:22 But yeah, I'm trying to be Billboard Hot 100 all lot. So how close are we to we at least five years away from a Jason or Flau'jae Jr. About 7, 8, 9, 10. So we looking about 30 foot up for that to happen. 30. Because I just tell my I want to have kids when I could travel with them and all of that I ain't with that right now. I got four little brothers that's enough for me. Flau'jae, best of luck. Thank you for stopping by club Cheche. Best of luck in all your endeavors. Thank you for all you've done for the city of Savannah and everything that you're going to do moving forward. Your basketball career, your rap career, your entertainment career and all the blessings.
Starting point is 01:06:01 Thank you for having me. This was lit. Thank you. Flau'jae Johnson. entertainment career and all the blessings. Thank you for having me. This is lit. Thank you. Elijah Johnson. I've been grinding all my life, Sacrifice, Possible paid the price, Won a slice, Got the rolling dice, That's why, All my life, I've been grinding all my life you you you you you you Check out Behind the Flow, a podcast documentary series following the launch of San Diego Football Club.
