Cause they, they ended up getting those speed, high speed chase with crash car. Um, so I ended up, you know, but the dude kicked me. They said, man, you know, that was his. Everybody know about scamming in this world. I hit my guy, Joe, and I was like, yo, you think you can put my pictures on this? Right. And make it look like his eyes? And he was like, oh, that's easy. And we just went outside and just took the pictures. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:35 And just that simple. Like, little stuff like that. Right. I love to relate to the culture in that way. Right. You know what I'm saying? Because they understand, yeah. This was going on.
Starting point is 00:03:43 You know what I'm saying? From bank scamming to check bust. Man, it's serious. Yeah. You know what I'm saying like because they understand yeah, this was going on. You know I'm saying from bank scamming to check bus Man, it's serious. Yeah, you know I'm saying me. I respect all I got nothing against Hey, get your mind get your money, but don't take my Love you. My grandmother stayed over there. But at movie school, it wasn't like, I wasn't like, but it was, you know. But my cousin Harold was the guy. Right. That came, you know, with him and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:04:27 You knew Gucci? My cousin's job. Gucci Man? Yeah. I saw Gucci Man for the first time. Gucci Man put up to our football practice. And I'm a big Gucci Man fan. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Hey, bro. And I remember that's when he first got that Hummel. It was on the 36th. Pulled up. And dog, we all tripped out. We supposed to be in that practice, man. We seen that Hummel. Like, wow. This is crazy. Because he was the guy in East Atlanta at the time. Nobody was bigger than Gucci at the time. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:05:32 You had Gucci. I think Future came down later on. Of course, you had Duck Tate on the east side. Yeah, they was like the guy. gucci was like that he was the the donald's on there yeah he he picked the six on yeah yeah it was a wrap because a 21
Starting point is 00:05:54 said that he uh on that side of town everybody hated jeezy because they had the love for gucci showed it showed it but I was a Gucci fan. You should have saw me doing the verses. Boy, I was so happy when Gucci said what he said. I said, oh, that's what we want to say. Everybody knew they wanted to say, you know, of course, everybody knew G's hair, of course, dope hair.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Right. Everybody knew G's hair. But we wanted to see that aggressive Gucci and that verses, you know what I'm saying? That's what made that verses, I feel like, was good. What about the evolution of Gucci? You see what he once was to what he currently is. A family man,
Starting point is 00:06:29 beautiful kid, loves his wife, posted. I mean, he ain't that Gucci. That's growth. That's growth. I think it's growth. I think it's elevation. And he got a good woman. Yes. You see what I'm saying? She held it down while he was away. You see what I'm saying? She made what, about $3-5 million while he was gone. You know what I'm saying she held it down while he was away. You see I'm saying she made what about three five million
Starting point is 00:06:45 I love why you gone, you know, I'm saying see stuff like that. You know, I'm saying I special type of woman He had to wipe up. Yeah, exactly. No choice. Exactly. So but I love his growth man. He got his own label going on Like say he's dope, you know, he he ain't the old Gucci, but I'm sure it's still in them. Oh, yeah You know saying but that you know, that's in old guju but i'm sure it's still in them oh yeah you know what i'm saying but that ain't on you that's in you well yeah yeah man gucci was that guy bro hey oj the jews man it was the boys back then though shout out to walker flocker too walker was back then too well at least he was from river there but he used to be on on gresher he used to be a gucci you was raised by both your parents but you had a very very close special relationship with your grandmother yeah yeah yeah my grandma and my granddad mm-hmm yeah my
Starting point is 00:07:30 granddad that I was really really close with he passed you know he was like a real good father to me he taught me a lot of stuff and as far as being a man you know so I think he's more hands-on when it came to a lot of stuff you know just to me the beginning stuff man learn how to rake the yard cut the grass you know uh change the oil in the car you know teaching you to be a man type you know what i'm saying like you know um when we want to sleep all day get up no i don't care if you're going outside you ain't finna be right here you need to go on you know just little stuff like that um all my grandparents was good though you know my papa on my dad's side was real real good um he used to do a lot of stuff for me man he was always there for me but my grandparents like yeah they they most definitely raised me
Starting point is 00:08:08 you know what i'm saying um but my mom was always at work you know what i'm saying my mom was real good mom um but she was a working woman she was a real you know working woman and you know she was doing what she had to do so to bring it to me i can say that you know what i'm saying she always wanted to make me happy you know what i'm saying when it came to stuff so yeah but you know since she always wanted to make me happy you know I'm saying when it came to stuff so yeah you know we was from who's from right but we was with some hustles you know saying the name Desi yeah that's not a common name now I was lame I was named after Desi Arnaz okay my grandmother was a big I love Lucy yeah yeah yeah yeah that was Lucille Ball's husband yeah yeah yeah I love Lucy yeah but I was also her husband in real life yeah yeah yeah but
Starting point is 00:08:43 my grandmother was a big fan so I was I actually was named after my father my dad name. He his name is Desi too and my son He's Desi the third. Okay, so I can't be gone with that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah So you hope we keep it going with the four I would hope so, you know, that's all him though You know ain't gonna put it on them. But if you mention it, oh, but sure for sure Get us keep it going. So son yeah how were you in school were you a class clown were you a comedian in school for sure for sure not and it's so crazy not even knowing i was doing it i was cool too though i was real cool i wanted to be fresh i wanted to have the ladies i was that type i wanted to play football you play football we're gonna get to that yeah you're a
Starting point is 00:09:19 class clown clown yeah and you had the women for sure for sure yeah i i want the baddest one too clown yeah and you hate the women for sure for sure yeah I want the baddest one too yeah the baddest one well you have an unfair advantage because you know women like funny guys yeah and they like athletes so you were two for one man well I just love scoring touchdowns look at that girl over there hahaha yeah okay wait till you see me later on hahaha it just made me feel good you know football high school would make you feel like a star a little bit. Yeah. Especially when you're balling. Right. Especially when you got colleges and stuff looking at you, man.
Starting point is 00:09:48 It made you feel good. Right. You know what I'm saying? You being the funny guy, did everybody hover around you like during lunch? Was everybody around you at the table? For sure. I'm telling you, my dog Vincey had me acting out movie scenes, bro. Like, on tomorrow, everybody's be around the table, dog.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Like, man, yeah, it was that thing. One of the most humorous in high school, I was that guy. Yeah. For sure, for sure. Like I said, as I look back, I did not know I was going to be doing this for the rest of my life. Right. It was always in me. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:10:14 So now I know that was a real gift for me. That was a real gift. Mm-hmm. For sure, for sure. Well, tell the story. You being a ladies' man, tell the story about how you ran and hid in the woods when a young lady's brother was chasing you. Well tell the story you being a ladies man tell the story about how you ran and hid in the woods When a young lady brother was chasing you
Starting point is 00:10:32 What Who told you that I'm just you know, I got no some people that know you Who told you that I'm'm just asking, Desi. Why you ran? Shit. You ran too. Desi, I mean, why you, I mean, you couldn't talk to the man? I mean, you funny make him laugh, Desi. For that, at the time, one time I made him laugh.
Starting point is 00:10:59 That nigga one time, he no giggles. So what, what, what did you do to get him so upset? Man, it's just some female stuff i should never did that's you know you'll be okay that was his sister and you being popular you've been an athlete you've been funny so what happened was you weren't only seeing his sister. What was I saying? I don't know. Well, clearly, he thought you was seeing somebody else. Yeah, I had to get up out of there, bro.
Starting point is 00:11:35 So you had to use that football speed, bro? Yeah, and I did what I had to do. You hid? For sure. Yeah, I saw him too. I was looking too. Can't get me. But you had to come back to school the next day. I did, but I had my boy with me, so saw him too. I was looking too. Can't get me. But you had to come back to school the next day.
Starting point is 00:11:47 I did, but I had my boy with me, so I was straight. And he tried me then. It was over. So he tried to get you one-on-one, huh? Yeah. No, can't get me. To this day, I stay on that. I'm looking, bro. And I believe you completed in track, baseball, football, senior stats. You had 47 catches, almost 900 yards, eight touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:12:12 That was high school? Yeah. It was more than that. That was your senior year? You had more yards than catches than that in your senior? Yeah. I think it was like half of it. They didn't put all that.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I think once playoffs came, it stopped. Yeah. Yeah. I think that was like during the season, but playoffs. Because I think we ended up going to the third round that year of playoffs. I had like two touchdowns in the playoffs, I think. Yeah. And more yards.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Yeah. I probably left that year probably about 11, 1200 yards. What? Yeah. For sure. For sure, for sure. First team, all county. Second team, all state.
Starting point is 00:12:44 You on the A and B., got A's and B's. Yep. I had teachers love me boy. Did you trash talk on the field? Of course. I was around trash talkers. Yeah, they make you trash talk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Where we were from, you had to. Right. Oh Jesus, motherfuckers and sucka duckas everywhere. Boy, you ain't like that, swag was everything. Yeah, we was dogs, man. City Grove was some dogs. When I played, serious. And the people that came before us, oh, man, we ain't had no choice but to be dogs. Right. So,
Starting point is 00:13:12 I mean, like, you were great in high school, so you, like, go to college. You go to, what, Moorhead? I went to Moorhead, and I finished playing at Georgia State. Why'd you transfer back? I transferred because I wanted to play bigger. I think at the time, Sunbelt was, Georgia State just had gotten to the Sunbelt. And I knew I wanted some I transferred because I wanted to play bigger. I think at the time, Sunbelt was, Georgia State just had gotten to the Sunbelt.
Starting point is 00:13:27 And I knew I wanted some more exposure. I wanted to get a different experience. And that's why I transferred there. Right. Yeah. Do you regret that? I don't. Because I think at the time, now I think about it,
Starting point is 00:13:39 it was leading me to this, to my career. Right. I didn't know why I left at the time. I think if I would have waited two more years later, there, I probably wouldn't have been, you know. I always think about time when it comes to stuff. So, God made no mistake when it comes to time. It wasn't because you were homesick. You didn't come back to Georgia State because you were homesick.
Starting point is 00:13:57 No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Because Moorhead, that's in Kentucky, right? Yeah, Moorhead, Kentucky. Yep. We was in OVC at the time. But, yeah, it wasn't that. I just wanted more exposure. I thought about football.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Football being this big dream for me. Right. You know what I'm saying? I was like, man, I'm ready to go. You know, I'm ready to go to another level. Right. I want to play different teams. So, did you get an opportunity to play a lot at Georgia State?
Starting point is 00:14:20 Not like I wanted to. So, were you depressed? Were you frustrated? Because you transferred to get an opportunity to play more like I wanted to. So were you depressed? Did you get frustrated? Because you transferred to get an opportunity to play more. I know, but then,
Starting point is 00:14:28 like I said, it's how I was really leaning onto that comedy. Oh, so you wasn't as serious about the football that you needed. And I was still doing it.
Starting point is 00:14:35 I was still doing my thing. You know what I'm saying? But stuff just started to click. I started to see stuff. I was just like, you know what? You know? And then I was so cool with my receiver coaches. Like, I had a coach, he told me, man, he's like, man, you I started to see stuff. I was just like, you know what? I was so cool with my receiver
Starting point is 00:14:46 coach. I had a coach. He told me, man, he's like, man, you're going to be famous one day. He wasn't talking about football. He was like, man, I've been watching your stuff. Everybody on the team was already up to par to what I was doing. They were big supporters of me.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Like I said, I was a good athlete. You know what I'm saying? Like I said, it didn't work out. And once I finished football, graduated, and I thought my life was over. I said, man, damn, this shit, I'm going back to Eastside. You know what I'm saying? I don't know what I'm going to do. Like I said, I got into that book, Purpose Driven Life. and that same homeboy who told me to start on Vine back in 2012, and he was like, man, I think you should start taking your comedy series with this on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:15:35 That's when I started doing that. I got into acting classes. I started getting into standup. I started getting into all this stuff. I remember I was in Africa, man, for about 11, 12 days for a movie I booked at the time. Shout out to Samar Davis, man. He gave me a great opportunity for that film. And I ain't never been to Africa.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Never, man. Shout out to my pastor, too. He was the one that paid for the ticket for me to get to Africa. Wow. Yeah. Pastor E. Dewey Smith in Atlanta, Georgia. How's it going? I was over there, bro, and I was thinking to myself.
Starting point is 00:16:03 I said, man, ain't no way bro i'm finna um go back to making smoothies that's smoothie king when i'm over in africa i just make i'm crazy with this new crazy man well make it right man well you're the smoothie king not the building i'm the guy they need to give you a little endorsement um but yeah i'm the guy when it comes to this movie okay yeah hey yeah if you want a good smoothie how did it mean now you hold on there's a trick to it because you can't make it too thick it won't go no no no no no i like yeah gotta be like hey not too like smooth it gotta be you know what i'm saying like hey like a well not well done but like meeting well you know what i'm saying like people like to stay sure pure cocaine so. Sure pure cocaine. So you had it
Starting point is 00:16:47 Yeah But see smoothie can you don't do that you throw it in the thing you put the blender you hit the button You sit there you watch it. So what's your favorite? What's your favorite smoothie to make my first one is strawberry? Strawberry banana. Okay, add peanut butter. Okay. I love that. Yeah. And I love the, the Hulk. The Hulk is crazy. Okay. Hulk is insane. What's the, what's the ingredient?
Starting point is 00:17:09 Strawberry, uh, Terminato, um, pecan, um, pecan ice cream. Mm-hmm. And you throw that peanut butter in there, crack, bro. Crack. With them strawberries in it, crack. After working at, how long did you work at Smoothie King? I did for about a year so after working at smoothie King for a year mm-hmm do you still drink smoothie King for sure so you didn't get burned out on it now you remind me of everything I still
Starting point is 00:17:36 go get a hint now I said if you're out as I used to work here so you got a dream you can do what you want to do a right yeah I just work here so what do you get you get the whole could you get the strawberry strawberry strawberry banana peanut butter or something I get a great yoga to yeah blueberry yeah strawberry I was crazy yeah I had country Wayne on he said he would when he was able to monetize social media yeah is that when you knew like man you mean it they said that first check and you like. Oh yeah, that money's here on social media now.
Starting point is 00:18:08 I ain't gonna lie. But I'm gonna be honest with you too. Like, even though I was making money, money wasn't like, that wasn't my, it was never my goal. I always wanted to elevate. I always cared about legacy. I always cared about being one of the greatest. I care about the art more than I care about the money going to come.
Starting point is 00:18:28 I ain't got to have 500 million dollars. You know what I'm saying? That'd be nice. It'd be nice. I can have it nice 50, 60 to 100. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Live comfortable. Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? But sometimes I was a little uncomfortable, like get a quarter of a bill. I'll take it. I'll take that one i swear but that was never my first thought right right you know what i'm saying when i was getting stuff i just wanted
Starting point is 00:18:50 stuff to help me pay my bills right you know what i'm saying and everything that was just coming was just coming but i ain't okay i i care about this crowd more than anything like like seriously like i ain't okay no cap i feel like on social media to this day i don't i feel like any social media comedian that's i didn't start on social media i don't feel like none of them really care about this crowd more than me nobody and that's a fact that's a fact i've been doing this longer than any this longer than any i started on 2000 2012. right like he got a track record they they just got started right like he probably four years in i'm i'm 10 12 years in a lot of these videos that you probably see these people do and i did it first i did it first i swear to god i did it first. I swear to God. I did it first. From hood videos to
Starting point is 00:19:47 girl videos. From doing rap videos to doing throwback videos back in the day from big shirts to big pants. I did it first. First on my mama and a lot of those guys
Starting point is 00:20:04 who do my stuff or whatever it is when you see it when you see them out they don't get no love they know they know but get away what separate me is that when i go touch when i hold up this microphone you can't steal that you can't steal that you can't steal that it's serious on that side right yeah come to the trenches yeah come be a big dog right if you think't steal that it's serious on that side right yeah come to the trenches yeah come be a big dog right if you think that's what it could know i take this shit serious yeah i i was eight you should care about this shit how many videos do you post a day well when i first started yeah when i first started it was like i was i was dropping three
Starting point is 00:20:41 four five videos a day a day a? A day. That's facts. A day. That's when we had six seconds. Six second clip. Then we got to the ground, it was 15 seconds. I was posting four, five videos a day. I promise you, a day. Building up a day.
Starting point is 00:20:56 A lot of folks, they get started, they go on fire, which is cool. It's cool. But yeah, I was in the trenches for real when it came to it. they just you know they going by that which is cool this is cool you know but yeah i was i was in the transit for real right i was one of the ones in the beginning that really that really started it in in the beginning but now every one of your videos basically get at least a million views for sure for sure for sure you know and so how many videos are you do you drop now uh i probably do once or two a week. I got to a point where I'm so,
Starting point is 00:21:26 I'm doing that, but now I'm doing so much on the other side. I'm doing stand-up. I'm doing audition for movies. I got a business. I got my own production company.
Starting point is 00:21:35 You know, I do real estate. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, I'm working, you know, I do that for my fans, my supporters.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Right. You know, but I want you to come see me in real life now. You know, so I'm going to keep doing it. Yeah, I'm going to keep doing the skit, but I want to grow, man. I want. Right. But I want you to come see me in real life now. You know what I'm saying? I'm going to keep doing it. Yeah, I'm going to keep doing the skit, but I want to grow, man.
Starting point is 00:21:48 I want to grow. I want to get to the next level. I want to be there. To me, your start, your background is in skits, but your heart is in stand-up. My heart is into stand-up and acting. Okay. Yeah. That's where my heart is.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So, the Eddie, Martin. Everybody that I know. Richard Pryor. All them guys. Kevin Martin. Okay. Yeah. That's what my heart is. So the Eddie Martin, everybody that I named Richard, all them guys kept Mark, Mark, Mike kept those people that did on that level. Hey man, I have what it takes to be exactly what they was. You know what I'm saying? It's just about giving a person an opportunity. And I can say I put in the work. I'm not just the guy that don't put in the work. I put in the work.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I really grind every day. I wake up in the morning. I work out. I wake, I think ideas every day. work i really grind every day i wake up in the morning i work out i wake uh i think ideas every day um we i'm doing something every day this is not giving to me i see a lot of people i feel like getting yeah every day every day you didn't kick down y'all you said what oh my man my man my man my man my man yeah i'm a dog in the gym too it's the mentality that's the main You do push-ups. I do everything.
Starting point is 00:22:46 You bench and squat. I'm doing everything. Everything. Once athlete, always athlete. Yeah. Yeah, it's in me. It's in me, man. I take it.
Starting point is 00:22:54 I promise you. I'm a real student, and I want to be one. And I'm willing to put in all the work that's needed. Well, I believe you. To get to that point. So let me ask you a question. These young social media stars now, like you said you got your start In 2012 you've been doing it the longest. Yeah
Starting point is 00:23:10 2012 do the young guys Guys girl, do they come up to you now and ask you for advice like since you know G um Primal I don't know. I got that man. Okay. I think it's a lot of competition now I got people that that that I know people that rock me 85 saw wrong me don't my god yeah country Wayne rock me DC my bro Lowe's Chico Chico yeah country but all them Georgia boys you know and I can say also DC was there too. DC was there with me on Vine.
Starting point is 00:23:47 He was one of them guys too when we was there. But yeah, everybody, a lot of them folk, they just... They pretend, but they don't rock with you. Yeah, and you know, you grow, man. You be like, man, I ain't with all that fake. I don't do that no more. I used to, but man, I'm straight. If I rock with you, I rock. Yeah, and I. I don't do that no more. I used to, but man, I'm straight. If I'm wrong, you're right.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Yeah, yeah. And I know I done been through a lot. And I done seen a lot of people, which I ain't no hate. I ain't no hate that nigga. But I know I've been grinding for so long. If I sit and get an opportunity, I know I could have did that shit too. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:24:22 But I know what day it is. I know how it goes. But I know I'm going to get my chance and my opportunity too. You know what I'm saying? But I just know I'm putting in that real too. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know what I'm saying? But I know what they, I know what they, I know how they, I know how it go, but I know I'm gonna get my chance and my opportunity to, you know what I'm saying? Starting point is 00:26:25 It was December 2019 when the story blew up. In Green Bay, Wisconsin, former Packers star Kabir Bajabiamila caught up in a bizarre situation. KGB explaining what he believes led to the arrest of his friends at a children's Christmas play. A family man, former NFL player, devout Christian, now cut off from his family and connected to a strange arrest. I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite. I got swept up in Kabir's journey, but this was only
Starting point is 00:26:59 the beginning in a story about faith and football, the search for meaning away from the gridiron and the consequences for everyone involved you mix homesteading with guns and church and a little bit of the spice of conspiracy theories that we liked voila you got straight away i felt like i was living in north korea but worse if that's possible listen to spiraled on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Nothing at all. And everything that I'm getting right now, I work for that shit. I'm going to really be able to enjoy it. I'm going to really be able to sit there.
Starting point is 00:27:36 When I do get whatever I get, I'm going to really be able to share tears of joy. You know what I'm saying? I'm going to really be like, nah, I put that work in. I put that work in for real. I ain't talking about being, I ain't no clout chasing that nigga going to be around, celebrity, I ain't, nah, fuck that. I put that shit in for real.
Starting point is 00:27:54 This real work. I ain't got a dick ride no nigga to, you see what I'm saying? To be a person. Nah, I'm me. I'm me. You know what I'm saying? I'ma keep doing, I'ma keep being me.
Starting point is 00:28:04 I'm from it. I'm from it for know what I'm saying? I'm going to keep doing it. I'm going to keep being me. I'm from it. I'm from it for real. Right. I came from it. You know what I'm saying? What's the big break that Desi is looking for? Man, I just want to show the world how great I am. I just want to show the world that I can really do it.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I can really be what some people may think I'm not. You know what I'm saying? A lot of people may look, oh, he's just this hood guy. Oh, he just do this stuff. Man, I'm way bigger than that. I got a lot. I got my own production. I got a lot of stuff that I put out outside of the hood stuff that they say.
Starting point is 00:28:34 I got character work. I'm really talented for real. You know what I'm saying? So that's what I be wanting the world to look at me as. Like, look at me as that thing that can be. Look at me like that, bro. I'm handsome, bro'm I'm like I look good you know I'm like that right you know I'm saying a humble way I'm like that for real
Starting point is 00:28:52 right I mean for real you know but you know things take time and I'm willing to keep pushing and stay patient right you know I'm saying I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna get it. I'm looking at some of the brand part of you with NFL, NASCAR, MLB, NBA, Best Buy, Google, Madden, Burger King, bro. I mean, you are brand in and of itself. So when you look the world to know that i can do you put it in my face you give me some time to study this i could do exactly what the greats did i can do it i can do i can do it i promise you i can do it i can show you i've done i've done that i can do it i can do it you know and i know it take time for whatever hollywood or whatever it's to believe in you you know whatever it is you know it take time you know, it take time. You know, and that's okay. You know, I'm cool with that, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:46 but I'm just here to say... When the opportunity presents itself, you'll be... I ain't rushing. You know, right time is gonna be... You know, right time is everything. You always want to be prepared for when you do get that opportunity. So, you know... You do...
Starting point is 00:29:57 Your stand-up is a little different because you go in the audience. What makes you so comfortable doing that? Shit, I learned from Def Jam. Right. Def Jam, that's real comedy. See, it'd be so crazy, man, when people see me, you know, doing that? Shit. I learned from Def Jam. Right. Def Jam, that's real comedy. See, it be so crazy, man, when people see me, you know, doing it, why you always do it.
Starting point is 00:30:10 When I do post my stand up or whatever it is, that's just crowd work. People be thinking that's actually my stand up. And I only do that because I'm not, first of all, I'm not going to put my real stuff out. I'm doing this so you can actually come to the show and see, you know, come see the real show. But that's just stuff that I felt like was real comedy
Starting point is 00:30:24 back in the day. Def Jam, they used to do it all the time. Mark used to do it all the time. He used to rip people all the time. And in a good way, too. It wasn't like nothing negative. It's never nothing negative when it comes to the stuff that I post. You know what I'm saying? So I just feel like that's the style that I like when they come. I love to
Starting point is 00:30:39 get people involved. And people come to shows just for that. They love to see that. As soon as I start doing it when I'm at a show, I be in my material they're like as soon as i go in the car they yeah they love that they can't wait that's what yeah they want to see it so people like different things you take people head off you go at drunk hecklers are you afraid that somebody might try to fight you i don't think i ever like make it that negative okay you see what i'm saying i always make people feel comfortable right you know what i'm saying before i even you know you negative okay you see what i'm saying i always make people feel comfortable right you know what i'm saying before i even you know well you take it that route i don't ever i even if i do do it
Starting point is 00:31:08 like i it like i said the scene be cut so i'd be like all right you good uh you know it's just a comedy show right right oh man you good man that's what i wanted like i had a big boy i was in um i was in what macon i was in macon georg And dog, it was a fat dude. A big dude. He was all the way at the top. It was like 2,500 people in there, all the way at the top. He said something, and I said, man, it sounds like a fat-ass dude. And they went crazy. They cut the lights on him. It was a
Starting point is 00:31:35 fat dude. Man, I ripped that nigga so bad. And guess what he said at the end? He said, man, that's all I wanted. That's all I wanted. But some people be wanting that. You know what I'm saying? That's all he wanted. That's all I wanted. But some people be wanting that. You know what I'm saying? That's all he wanted. That's all I wanted for him to rip.
Starting point is 00:31:47 For you to join on him in the bucket of chicken. I was on him for about 10 minutes. You were on him? 10 minutes. It was too, because for him, for me to hear his voice and say that sounded like a fat dude, and they cut the lights on, that was actually a fat dude. Dog, that's all I needed to know.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Good God, what a fat dude. So they kept the light on until you kept it covered. Kept it, I ripped him. He probably watched it and he'd be like, you showed it. I love that boy for that. Yeah. But you don't get afraid because we saw, obviously, what Will Smith did a couple years ago. And then we saw the situation at the Hollywood Bowl when Chappelle was doing his show.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Another guy ran on the stage. You don't fear that? Somebody come out on stage? Yeah. They got to be real mad. Because remember DC? DC beat a dude down running on the stage on him yeah they gotta be they gotta be real mad but it ain't about you he got other stuff going on and you was the trigger though well they gotta be mad boy if i do that but he ain't
Starting point is 00:32:35 gonna get close to me i promise you boy it's it's i got one you keep them for boy boy I got a real sitting next to just sitting next to that that that stool there. Have you ever been booed? Have I ever been booed? Um Yeah, we gonna put it out people think that video I posted of me getting booed. Uh That'll come to clear. I want y'all to know man That was a skit that I set up with the crowd. So y'all stop tweeting that thing that I got. People really think I got it. But I had bad shows. And I would say most of my bad shows was in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And also when it comes to stuff, when it comes to bad shows, as comedians, we may think we had a bad show. The crowd may not even know. You know what I'm saying? Of how we're feeling. We are worst critics. The crowd may not even know. Right. You know what I'm saying? You're the worst critic. You know what I'm saying? We are worst critics.
Starting point is 00:33:27 But in the beginning, I think my worst show was in the Bahamas. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You walked down on me. Walked down. Is that when you had the dry mouth? Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:36 The dry mouth? Yeah. Yes. And dog. Were you nervous? At first, I wasn't nervous. But when I found out I said the wrong thing that I should not say it it went down from there what'd you say I said when I got off the plane
Starting point is 00:33:54 it looked like the safari and I said well I was looking for the lions tigers and bats and boy I heard pans dropping in the back. My mouth got dry. My booty hole tamed up. I shouldn't have said that. Shouldn't have said that. I was, boy,
Starting point is 00:34:20 it was bad. And guess what? I still did my time. I had to do like 25 minutes. And boy, it was bad. And guess what? I still did my time. I had to do like 25 minutes. And boy, it was. And you started off with that? I started off. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:34:32 That's what you're supposed to put at that 20-minute mark. And dog, when I tell you, I did my whole set. I seen people walking out. You should have got on them. At the time, I was still new. I wouldn't zap like that. I went quick as I was. And I remember after the show,
Starting point is 00:34:52 man, a dude came up to me. Whatever guy. Dude like that to me. That's what hit you on the shoulder? He said, hey man. Keep doing your video. Oh! Mm-hmm. Hit you on the shoulder. He said, hey man Keep doing your video
Starting point is 00:35:10 The stand-up way for you And he also told me he's like yeah man cuz uh, you sounded very scripted Hmm. It sounded like I was just reading off a paper. Hmm, you know I'm saying like in my beginning stages I just try to remember my sets sets like that right i was reading you know i'm saying i just being free you know i'm saying so once i learned to be free and just be myself let it flow and it just you know but yeah that was one of the i never forget that time that was oh boy i i think i'm still a little nervous you can go back there i think they might remember me so how were you able to get back on track? That was a bad experience. And did you have, how soon were you able to get back on stage?
Starting point is 00:35:51 It was crazy because I remember this night. I remember the night of the show. And Trey Beats and My Own was with me. And we was talking about it. And I was just like, you know what? I said, it's a test. It's a test. Because this is what we go through.
Starting point is 00:36:05 It's like, either you're going to stop or you're going to keep going. Right. And I said, shit, they're the Bahamas. Ain't nobody going to know about this shit. You know what I'm saying? I ain't worried about it. But I also knew, like, hey, this is what it come with. And I can learn from it.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I just know next time. I even learned that from that place, when you go to cities, you can't talk bad about that city. No, hell no. You got to build that city up. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So that's what I learned from that place. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:31 You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, when it comes to a lot of stuff, I just make sure I'm prepared. Prepared more, learned about the city, whatever it is, man, up in it. And like I said, just being more free, man. Having fun, you know, and just telling my truth when it comes to it. So, yeah. What's your thoughts on joke stealing? Obviously joke stealing is more prevalent than I even knew You need a little know you
Starting point is 00:36:55 I didn't realize how prevalent Joke stealing. Yeah, don't send in a serious. It's serious It's serious. And it can, like, even for me, like, I can, like, it's crazy. I posted something and I took it down. I'm just going to say I took it down because, like, it wasn't the same joke as somebody. Right. But it was kind of like a saying. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:22 And I was like, you know, I don't even want people to even think that I'm... But it was just like one little thing, but the whole story was different. But I try to stay away from stealing people's jokes. You know what I'm saying? And that's why with my jokes, that's why I don't... I would say I don't watch a lot of... As far as stand-up, I don't watch a lot of younger comedians when it comes to stand-up. You know what I'm saying? Because I feel like that's what a lot of as far as then I don't watch a lot of younger comedians when I come to stand up you know I'm saying because I feel like that's what a lot of young
Starting point is 00:37:47 people that's why I watch out oh geez when I'm watching them I'm just watching them from like us how to tell a story and of course a lot of stuff like for example you know everybody got a kid joke or whatever is you just what makes your kid joke there what how would you as a kid? You know, we was all kids. Right. Of course, we got different stories. So you can still do that in that way, but just make it, you know, make it yours. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:38:13 But yeah, for me, I just stay away from the younger people stuff, man. I try not to watch them too much. But I know a lot of people, like even when we had come to clubs, we open mics. A lot of people are coming there to see what you're saying. You know what I'm saying? They all come in there to try to see what kind of joke. Oh, that was a good joke. Well, how you say that joke?
Starting point is 00:38:31 Man, what? You know, just get that. Right. And try to make a day on it. You know what I'm saying? So you got to be careful from a lot of these. Especially the young generation. I'm one of the ones, like, in the beginning, boy,
Starting point is 00:38:41 I know I shocked a lot of people. I shocked a lot of people, man. I know I did. Especially being in Atlanta, boy each i know i shocked a lot of people i shocked a lot of people man i i know i did especially being in the line of water i know it boy i know they look at me like why i can't believe that i made it you know what i'm saying but hey i put in the work i did it you know what i'm saying but now i don't steal jokes i don't steal jokes at all right at all i i have not ever done that you know what i'm saying and Can't nobody ever say that I took a joke from them. Right. Nobody.
Starting point is 00:39:06 A joke? Nah. Hell nah. Have you had any discussions with Netflix or probably about doing a special on Netflix? Not yet. I always say when it comes to, like, doing a special, of course I wanted to be special. I ain't in no rush to do a special. But I want to be like the people that did it before me.
Starting point is 00:39:25 You know what I'm saying? Like I said, uh, uh, that movie is what got them big. That took them, that made them a real star. Right. You know, I feel like that's the formula for me. Um, I could put a special, I can do it, but I'm still kind of like prepping my eyes. I'm still putting it together. And when I put it out, I wanted to be that thing,. But I want it to be that, I want it to be
Starting point is 00:39:45 in a movie. I want it to have that TV show. Whatever it is, so I can build those new fans. And then I can go on tour with those new fans. And, you know, now I can really put my special together that I got a whole other family, a whole other crowd. You know, that's how, like I said,
Starting point is 00:40:01 OG did it. That's how we knew who Mike Gills was. A lot of people didn't know who Mike Gills was. Of Mike Ellis was. A lot of people didn't know who Mike Ellis was. Of course he did stand-up. A lot of people didn't know him until he did Next Friday. A lot of people didn't know who Chris Tucker was until he did Friday. You know what I'm saying? But they was already doing stand-up.
Starting point is 00:40:18 But I just feel like those movies and TV shows, it's what helped you really get to that level. And that's the level that I want you know I'm gonna take it to I mean performing at come performing at colleges and in comedy clubs and theaters obviously as arenas are next what did you learn from performing at these smaller venues that's gonna prepare you that when you go in these 15 20 thousand seat arenas i i think the comedy club just built it built that confidence you know i'm saying um but man i love comedy club because it really keeps it keep you authentic it keep you sharp you know it keep you that you get that fire
Starting point is 00:40:57 you know i'm saying um i think the theaters is more of a showcase you know i'm saying um of course you can do the stuff that you do on the comedy clubs, but you can't really, you know, it's really more material more than anything. You know what I'm saying? You really got to give them a show. You really got to be more, you know what I'm saying, like that. You can work with the crowd, but you can't be too much on the crowd. You know, because you got to think,
Starting point is 00:41:18 when you're in that big room, a lot of people may not see who that person is down there that you're talking to. You know what I'm saying? So they really want to focus on you doing your material so they can relate to you that way you know I'm saying But I just feel like yeah come because it's more of a trenches way. It's more than the trenches You know more than anything yeah, I like I like coming to it keep it keep me grounded for sure I read will you stop? Touring with other comedians. Why did you stop doing with other comedians um? Yeah, boy with other comedians why did you stop touring with other comedians um okay
Starting point is 00:41:48 yeah go ahead well for me uh uh i because i listen to my ogs man um i feel like when you get to a place when you really want to build your brand you want to build yourself up and you got to kind of like when you really want to build your brand, you want to build yourself up, you got to kind of like... I've done it. You know, I've did it. I've done shows with the OGs.
Starting point is 00:42:12 In reality, man, if you could sell tickets on your own, do your own thing, and build your own name up, I think that's the right way to go. And a real OG will tell you that's what you need to be doing. Right. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:42:21 And that's okay. And that's why I met with it. You know, I just want to build my legacy. You know what I'm saying? And that's okay. And that's why I met with it. You know, I just want to build my legacy. You know, I want to elevate it my way. And, of course, if I do take those shows, it got to be something that's going to help me. You know what I'm saying? Pour it on me.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Make me get to it. It got to be a good look for Desi. You know what I'm saying? I feel like I'm putting the groundwork as far as being a young guy at the show, doing the shows with the OGs and whatever it is, but now I just feel like now I'm growing in a way where my fans rock with me. They want to come see Dizzy Banks. They want to see him come do our place at his show instead of doing a 15, 20 minute
Starting point is 00:43:00 set. Now I want to see him be the headliner. That's what it is. And that's against those shows, but I I want to see him be the headliner. Right. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, that's what it is. Not against those shows. Right. But, yeah, I just want to do my own thing. Of course I want to work with them guys.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Let's do movies together. Right. Let's do some other stuff together. You know what I'm saying? And, you know, we can work that way. Who would you say have helped you most? What community has helped Desi Banks the most in this business? That helped me the most?
Starting point is 00:43:26 I ain't going to lie, bro. I'm going to have to say who gave me the most advice, for real, for real. On God? On God. Your wife and type shit? That really rocked with me, for real. Like I said, Kevin and Mike, man. Kevin and Mike is the ones that pour into me. You know what I'm saying? Kev all the time, his whole team cool with me. They love me. Shout out to Harry. Harry was one of the guys, when I first started
Starting point is 00:44:00 from social media, I remember the message, it was probably like seven years ago. He sent me a message like, bro, I'm just coming to you right now before you become a big star. You know what I'm saying? Like, he came, like, and ever since then, I've been locked in with him. Right. And he was the one that actually kind of like introduced me to Kev. Right. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:44:17 Got me close to Kev. And, you know, once I met Kev, and now it's like we just locked in. Right. Like I said, Mike, me and Mike chop it up all the time. Y'all always telling me you're killing it. Like I said, with Mike, he the one put me on my first big theater tour. You know what I'm saying? I was with him for a whole month or two,
Starting point is 00:44:37 and we did a whole 10 to 15 city run, and that moment right there, it gave me the game and the knowledge that I needed to to see it on that level how things need to go you know i'm saying so even working with like no being on that level it just inspired me so much like you know i say it just reminded me and let me know i'm doing what i'm supposed to be doing right you know i'm saying and like i said they gave me game they gave me game they gave me big game bro so yeah those two guys i I would say are are like real are like for me, like right now is the guy. Yeah. You mentioned earlier that you have you started your own production company.
Starting point is 00:45:15 What have you learned most about the business of comedy? The business of comedy, I would say is serious. The business of comedy, I would say, is serious. But I think a lot of people out there, I think they should, of course, have their own business when it comes to this, man. Because, like I said, you never know when you will not get an opportunity. And me having my own production company allows me to continue to work whenever I want to work. I ain't got to wait on Hollywood to give me a movie or whatever it is. You know, and also I've learned that, you know, even with that, it takes time for me to connect and get my stuff to that level.
Starting point is 00:45:54 You know what I'm saying? Sometimes you just got to play the game for your stuff to get there. The long game. You got to play the long game. You know what I'm saying? Of course, one day, Days of Banks Productions will be a company that will be big. But like I said, it takes time. Daisy Banks Productions will be a company that would be big.
Starting point is 00:46:04 But like I said, it takes time. I got plenty of ideas of stuff that we already present into different companies that, you know, that we want to partnership with, you know, that we have meetings with TV shows, feature films, you know, stuff like that. And there's always presented Daisy Banks Productions want to present you guys this script for this, this treatment for this. And, you know, like I said, I got my team that always with me um when it come to me you know being in these meetings uh or whatever it is but like i said i always had a goal and you know i've and a
Starting point is 00:46:33 lot of stuff that i've shot in already it's a uh it's like a uh uh a proven like the numbers already there so i'm letting people know it already worked the tv show i I want to do, it's already there, I already shot it. The sitcom I want to do, it's already there. The short film I want to turn into a feature film, the numbers are already there. I'm telling you, it works already. So it's like, it's just up to that company, whatever it is, to actually believe in it.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Because I know people say all the time, just continue to do it on your own. Put it out yourself, whatever it is. But man, hey man, for me, my goal is to have my show show on Netflix I want to be big I want to be with the lines I want to be with a pair of months I want to have my stuff connect to those people you know I'm saying that's what I want to do yeah why was it so important for you to believe and invest in Desi um I think
Starting point is 00:47:22 that's what at the time I didn't know but I think that's what, at the time, I didn't know, but I think that's what God wanted me to do. Okay. Starting point is 00:50:01 It was December 2019 when the story blew up. I got swept up in Kabir's journey, but this was only the beginning. In a story about faith and football, the search for meaning away from the gridiron and the consequences for everyone involved.
Starting point is 00:50:43 You mix homesteading with guns and church and then a little bit of the spice of conspiracy theories that we liked. Voila! You got straight away. I felt like I was living in North Korea, but worse, if that's possible. Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Want to do your own thing? You want to build up your own fan base.
Starting point is 00:51:05 You want to get that going. I think it's up to you what you want to do. I'm just one of the guys. I'm a hustler, man. I don't want to sit and wait. I like to grind. You know what I'm saying? So I know this is going to pay off one day.
Starting point is 00:51:19 They're going to tap in soon. Have you gone on, if any or how many, have you gone on some auditions? Auditions? Yeah. Oh, tons. I've auditioned so many. I got close to a lot of different movies, man, that I was numbered up against the lead. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:51:39 I've been up close to a lot of guys. You know what I'm saying? I just booked a major film film a24 film that i'll be shooting soon we're still waiting on the dates to get um for that i can't wait for people to see that but that is a step that i feel like that's gonna open up doors for me as well um like i said i'm also in and in pitch meetings with other movies that i'm the lead of you know tv shows that i'm the lead of you know that people don't know right now you know I'm saying but yeah people see that the other work that goes on right you know so they just see what they see but like I said take time
Starting point is 00:52:14 it's a process but like I said this is opportunity this interview is I can't take this interview this is gonna open up some doors for sure for sure for sure I think so I hope so yeah exactly that's what it's about have this audition have any audition you gone on and you've turned down like damn i probably should have taken that one yeah it's been some movies yeah it'd be movies that yeah that i've seen i've turned down that gave other people opportunities yeah that and the only reason why i didn't accept it, well, one movie I didn't accept it was because I just felt like it wasn't right. It was just too much going on with it.
Starting point is 00:52:50 You know what I'm saying? And then I think they wanted me to, at the time, they wanted me to counsel on a show, a weekend that I had. And I was like, nah, it's too late for that. I'm finna go. My show already sold out here, so I'm gonna go do this. And whoever y'all give this opportunity to hey man it was just meant for them i await my chance to get my right you know i'm saying i went it was no pressure so what have you learned about the auditions that you have gone on
Starting point is 00:53:13 i i've done well with all of them it's just uh i feel like it's just up to the people deciding on who they want you know i'm saying that's? That's okay too. And that's what I had to learn with my ethnic coach, Dwayne Boyd and Todd, they used to always tell me all the time, it ain't you. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes they may need a guy with a full beard. You know, you probably act it well, but we need a guy with a full beard or, you know, you did great but you sound southern you know or uh we need a uh a person that can play a doctor instead of you know it's just little stuff like that it i do my thing on audition right you know i'm saying um and i'm all about the finding the right project right i don't want to just be in no movie just to be in just say i mean no man like it. Nah, man. They don't make it legendary.
Starting point is 00:54:05 You know what I'm saying? I feel like, like I said, let's go back to Chris Tucker. Friday was for him. I hear, you know, shout out to the OGs who auditioned for that. I know it was a guy
Starting point is 00:54:13 that was supposed to play that role, but I feel like it wouldn't have maybe not been done if Chris couldn't win the guy. Mike, it was day-day. Can't nobody be day-day. Correct.
Starting point is 00:54:23 You know what I'm saying? Just little stuff like that those films was for them you know i'm saying i just and that's what i want for myself i want that film to be for me you know it's no rush for me to to get uh just being something that's the stuff that we're working on it's it's around it's around dizzy it's around you know what's gonna be good for me yeah would you ever do a Tyler Perry movie man I auditioned for Tyler Perry did you a few times okay yeah um I mean if it's the right role yeah I mean I you know I ain't I ain't against working with Tyler right I think Tyler dope
Starting point is 00:54:59 Tyler he's a legend is there a role that you wouldn't play? That I wouldn't play? Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't play, like, I don't want to do nothing outside of what makes me feel uncomfortable. Right. Yeah. Another way you don't want to dress up. What do you mean? Put a dress on, put a wig on.
Starting point is 00:55:19 I mean, look, bro. If necessary? I mean, because you do in your skin. I can grow my character. I've done short films. But dang, I like if necessary, I just put it up. I mean, can you do you do my character? I've done short films, but dang, I did that. I did that because my grandma loved it. Right. Like she loaded a car to rescue my grandma. Like I did that for her.
Starting point is 00:55:34 You know, saying that's just fine. Hey, I ain't worried about that. You know, and that character is based off her. You know what I'm saying? So all that I don't care about that. You know, I said, but now I ain't feel it. You ain't feeling it coming to my dressing room. And I probably been playing this role and you say, hey, can you put this on? Nah, I'm not doing that. Hell no. Nah.
Starting point is 00:55:53 How was it acting with Issa Rae and Regina Hall? Um, a little. Uh, when I was on set, I seen Regina Regina I didn't see Issa though yeah I seen Regina so yeah I seen Will Packer too I didn't really have a yeah I didn't really connect my scene was quick
Starting point is 00:56:16 it was real quick Issa Rae said Hollywood is scared and clueless after her show was cancelled she also said black stories are less of a priority and there aren't a lot of smart execs anymore. What's been your experience, your personal experience with Hollywood? Well, that's crazy, though, like the black show, because like what I'm presenting is black shows. And, you know, I would say on these pitches, you know, we we got these ideas that work. Like I said, we understand the culture. I feel like Hollywood should really allow us to.
Starting point is 00:56:48 We got the numbers. We showing y'all this shit work. You know what I'm saying? It work. Yes, for sure. It work. So it's like, at least try. Right.
Starting point is 00:56:59 You know what I'm saying? At least try. And of course, y'all got guys. If y'all got rights or whatever it is, I mean, we can connect. Let's bring it together and see how we can like make this really work right you know what i'm saying and understand who coming to the table like me being a part of the culture i got a fan base these people want to see me on that level this is what's going to bring numbers to you guys platform because at the end of the day it's a numbers game right you know what i'm saying
Starting point is 00:57:22 y'all trying to get y'all make y'all money back whatever it is you know so we got to think about stuff like that right like you know and and we take it serious yeah you've been buying land lately how many properties have you purchased and what would the what's the meaning behind that it's been about 12 i'm like my 12th house okay my 12th house now um but i always i always said that that I've learned that when it comes to income, I want to put it somewhere where it can grow. So to just be out exploring and stuff like that. I think investments is really big. And I feel like real estate, buying land and stuff like that, it's one of the best investments in the world. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:58:02 Especially in Atlanta, Georgia. People moving there crazy. You know what I'm saying? It's especially in Atlanta, Georgia. Yeah. People moving there crazy. You know what I'm saying? So if you got any income and I feel like real estate is it's been good. Shout out to my guy, Gene, man. And, you know, it's been he was the one that that set me up right when it came to it. And we've been building for a long time you know i'm saying and we got a lot of great stuff in store you know uh we got a workshop coming up that uh i would love for people to be a part of man view on the line of georgia february 17th and 18th um we're doing a workshop you can go to my real estate page there'll be designs and you can get the information so we want to you know get people learning about real estate you know how to build you know how to get money um how to find the right money to invest you know so how to get that right loan um you know stuff like that man yeah well you seem very very
Starting point is 00:58:52 frugal with your money very wise but everybody's made a dumb purchase oh yeah what was your dumb purchase my dumb purchase purchase uh i ain't gonna say it's dumb but i got a porsche so crazy ain't done with it but i had to get that mother i swear to god that porsche would you get a 911 turbo i had to get that yeah um and i like cars i love fast cars right yeah um so do you have do you do, I mean, are you like old school cars? I got an 84 SS Monte Carlo. I got one of those. I got a Hellcat. I'm a Hellcat truck. I got a Benz, Benz truck. What else I got?
Starting point is 00:59:40 Yeah, that's it. But I love cars though. Like if I make a crazy person, it'd be cars. It'd be cars? Nah, I love cars. You're not that big of a jewelry guy splurge guy in june. Nah And my homeboy be getting on me all the time. I got jury He'd be wanting me to wear all of them on stage. He's like boy if it was me like what a whole box So that's my dog detroit, man, you're like what a whole box what's your biggest purchase outside of real estate my biggest purchase outside of real estate um outside of real estate? My biggest purchase outside of real estate? I own to 18 wheeler
Starting point is 01:00:10 trucks. Okay, I got that too. So you have like, do you have a trucking company or just trying to build a truck? A trucking service? Yeah, I got that too. What you are? Well, I gotta come on festival FedEx.ex okay yeah so i got i'm connected with them so i got them on a roll i got i got my four drivers now they they switch out uh but yeah that's that's another investment that i got um as well that's that's been doing pretty good for me um but i would say other crazy person too of course jury jury is a thing that you know but now i you know i i can get me a nice little watch and just wear me a nice little chain and shine a little bit yeah you seem
Starting point is 01:00:49 really simplistic when it comes to jewelry yeah i'm cool i ain't gonna come in with that big chain on right you feel me like i can do it and i might do it sometimes i'll pop out to the club and shine a little bit yeah and then like i said my boys have been on all of them and i might put on two on two and i might put that real bust down on and I you know I have to do I gotta do yeah come on when it's shiny shiny but I'm gonna look at you to you about your fan you was you this close to the Super Bowl 28 to 3 yep third quarter yep you celebrate you the a and, hey, boy, Atlanta, we about to be old. Boy, we about to be old ones. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:28 Atlanta, Super Bowl. I mean, look, the Braves have won the World Series. But it ain't going to be the same as if Atlanta, if the faculty wasn't at Super Bowl. It would have been crazy. The city would still be turning right now. Still. Like, hey, you think you was scamming then.
Starting point is 01:01:44 They'd be scamming soon. Man, they'd have Super Bowl gear for the year after, the year after, the year after. They'd still be printing that Super Bowl gear. I know. Yeah, yeah. So when you get up 28-3, obviously you feeling good then. Then you feeling good because you know you're about to be Super Bowl champ. The Super Bowl trophy about to come to Atlanta.
Starting point is 01:02:04 Yeah. And then all of a sudden... That phone call came in. So you didn't watch the game? Nah, nah. I'm saying that phone call came in. You know that phone call. Yeah, I'm going... They're going to do what we got to do.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Let time win. Amen. Man, y'all made too many mistakes, man. Why y'all didn't run the ball, Desi? I think it's Matt. Matt mistakes, man. Why y'all didn't run the ball, Desi? I think it's Matt. Matt Ryan, man. I think Matt... Matt, I feel like he didn't step up, man, like he was a Tom Brady, or like he was
Starting point is 01:02:35 a great quarterback at the time. I feel like he missed that. He missed that. He wasn't. He MVP'd that year. To Matt Ryan? Yeah. I get it, but they gave him that. They didn Matt Ryan? Yeah. I get it. But they gave him that. They didn't want him to win the Super Bowl. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:02:50 You see how they do it? No, they didn't. We can give him that. We don't want him to win. I didn't allow him to do it. I don't allow him to do it. That's how I be feeling sometimes. But 28-3? 28-3.
Starting point is 01:02:58 That's crazy. 28-3 in the Super Bowl. If you got to be a leader, then You got to be a leader, man. I feel like he just kept listening to what the coach wanted to do. God. Y'all ain't gotten over it yet. Man, I had D.C. on here.
Starting point is 01:03:14 He ain't gotten over it yet. Man, who can't? Y'all don't know why you brought it up. But go Chiefs. How about... Go Chiefs. Oh, you want the Chiefs to do it? Go Chiefs.
Starting point is 01:03:23 I've been rocking with the Chiefs for three, four plus years. I've been working with them too. I've done work with them as well. Yeah. Go Chiefs. How about... Go with Chiefs. Oh, you want the Chiefs to do it? Go with Chiefs. I've been rocking with the Chiefs for three, four plus years. I've been working with them, too. I've done work with them as well. Yeah. Go with Chiefs. What was it like in that Michael Vick era?
Starting point is 01:03:34 The best era. Jesus Christ. That was like watching Michael Jordan. That was like when D... I think Mike Vick had that Deion Sanders type of vibe. Yeah. You know, Vick... Well, we got Vick. We feltion Sanders type of vibe yeah you know Vick
Starting point is 01:03:45 well we got Vick we feel like we could be anybody like everybody I had Vick Cleeks when I put them Cleeks
Starting point is 01:03:52 I thought I was Mike Vick even though I play receiver right I wanted to be like Vick you know
Starting point is 01:03:56 but no Vick that was the guy we played with Madden 2004 yeah that was the one 2004
Starting point is 01:04:01 man people used to hate when I picked Vick on there because that's all I did was scramble Oh, yeah, it was okay passing anybody. Maybe you get mad throwing joysticks and everything So if I said dancing give me your top five quarterbacks currently playing and I need them in order one to five Currently playing now right right now right now
Starting point is 01:04:22 Well, it would have been Aaron Rodgers, but of course he got injured. I'm going to have to say Lamar Jackson. Lamar number what? Patrick Mahomes number one. Okay. Yeah. Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson. Cousins.
Starting point is 01:04:39 I like cousins. Who cousins? You got a cousin? Kirk Cousins. You got a cousin playing in the NFL? No, I don't. Kirk Cousins. What is his name? Huh? What got a cousin? Kirk Cousins. You got a cousin playing in the NFL? No, I don't. What is his name?
Starting point is 01:04:45 Huh? What is his name? Yeah, you... That's about a fan kid that you have to work with. You talking about Kirk Cousins. I like... My... Burt...
Starting point is 01:05:01 I'm going to help you. No, no, no. My guy from the Bengals. Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow. Okay, that'd be three. No, no, no. My guy from the Bengals. Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow. Okay, that'd be three. Yeah, that's three. Right now?
Starting point is 01:05:14 You got Josh Allen, C.J. Stroud, Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, Jerry Goff, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence, Matthew Stafford, Tua, Herbert. Yeah, I don't know what the hell I'm saying. They cool. You just stopping at three? Yeah, I ain't going to care. They'll be my three. You don't even want no more, huh? They might be my three, man.
Starting point is 01:05:36 Who the GOAT? Brady or Mahomes? Now? I mean, of course, Brady the GOAT. You got one game. You got one game. It's the Super Bowl. I'm going to give you Brady or Mahomes.
Starting point is 01:05:49 Is this the fresh Brady or is this the old Brady? You can take Brady at any point in time. Versus Mahomes? Versus Mahome, boy. I might have to go with Mahome. Okay.
Starting point is 01:06:08 He's too nice. too good yeah yeah I guess that is me yeah what happened to the Ravens the Ravens in the playoff man I think it was opportunities that was missed. I think that second half, yeah, they let them boys, yeah, it didn't click and it connected. And I think, I ain't gonna say it was Lamar,
Starting point is 01:06:32 but you gotta think about that, that touchdown. He made that play and then got that, but then, then he did the, and he fumbled.
Starting point is 01:06:42 Yeah. Little stuff like that. Right. Kind of, it was just the mistakes. It was the mistakes. I think Lamar did and he fumbled. Little stuff like that. It was just the mistakes. It was the mistakes. I think Lamar did what he could do best. But yeah, just little stuff like that. A lot of missed opportunities. A lot of, I think penalties was coming after that. Yeah, at that point it was just discipline. It was just discipline. You know, just feeling strong.
Starting point is 01:07:05 They felt like they had it already. Right. But when you're playing somebody like the Chiefs, bro, every play is serious. Goat receiver, Jerry Rice or Randy Moss? And you played the receiver, so I know you know this position. Yeah, Jerry Rice. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:24 So, your game, your receiving game, who would you compare it to in the NFL? If you're comparing your game to a wide receiver, who is your game like? Probably say Keyshawn Johnson. Yeah. Long, you know, nice. They used to call me Greyhound. I used to run like Greyhound. Like real time. Yeah. Long, you know, nice. They used to call me Greyhound. I used to run like Greyhound. Like real time.
Starting point is 01:07:47 Yeah. That's what they said, huh? They did. I would say Keyshawn Johnson. Because I was a Keyshawn Johnson fan. I wore 19 like him, too, in high school, too. So I was a big fan of him. Look, you're a Hawks fan.
Starting point is 01:08:03 You guys got Trey. Were you at the game when Luka dropped that 73 So I was a big fan of him. Look, you're a Hawks fan. You guys got Trey. Were you at the game when Luka dropped that 73? I was not. I was at the game when they played LeBron, though, this past, what's his name? And I was trying to get
Starting point is 01:08:13 LeBron jerseys. I'm going to tell you, LeBron, I wanted that jersey so bad. Did you see it? Did you talk to it? Nope. He went straight to the locker room because they lost.
Starting point is 01:08:20 They lost. Yeah. I don't know if he felt like he had a bad game or not, but he's still the king, though. Yeah. Yeah. But now I went at the game. And the king though yeah yeah yeah but now i wanted the game when the house was turning up you know the hawks could have had luca right yeah yep yep with now with knowing what you know now
Starting point is 01:08:34 would you still rather have trey young or you would take me of course trey young you would take trail with lucas why would i say that on camera yes I say that on camera. Yes. What is wrong? Give me your top five NBA players. Top five. Dominique Wilkins.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Of course. I'm from Atlanta, bro. I said top five NBA players. Yeah. Not just Atlanta players. Well, I'm going to go with him first. Okay. You go with Dominique.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Okay. Steph Curry. Okay. That's two. LeBron James, of course. Okay. Steph Curry. Okay. That's two. LeBron James, of course. Three. Kobe Bryant. Four.
Starting point is 01:09:08 Magic Johnson. Five. Yeah. You going to lead Jordan up? Oh, shit. I forgot Jordan. Yeah, you really did. Dang.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Somebody got to come up. Who's coming up? Who's coming up top five? Magic Johnson. You take your magic up? Yeah. Magic Johnson, come on. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:28 Yeah. How about this? Mount Rushmore comedians. Top five? Did you go to school? Mount Rushmore got four heads. Were you in the same classroom the whole day? I'm from East Adams.
Starting point is 01:09:42 I had two. That man had two recesses, two lunches. Four. Of all time or just? All time. All right. Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Bernie Mac. Richard Pryor.
Starting point is 01:10:03 Bernie Mac. Oh man. Martin Lawrence. God damn boy, you, you, you. I mean, I had Cat on here, boy, you know I had Cat out the back. He said, man, he said, these young comedians, they had Cat on here. You know I had Cat out the back. He said, man, he said, these young comedians, they kill it. He said, Desi Banks. He said, DC Young Fly.
Starting point is 01:10:33 He's like, cheap. Yeah, all them guys, yeah. He said, man, he said, these young comedians kill it. He mentioned Jess. Who haven't you worked with that you would like to work with? What comedians haven't you been on tour with? You say, you know what? I like to go on tour with old boy. Martin Lawrence.
Starting point is 01:10:50 We supposed to set something up. Hopefully it works. Yeah, because I shot a commercial with Martin that's going to be airing during the Super Bowl. And he mentioned he's about to go back on. Yeah, yeah. I'd love to work with Martin. I'd love to do that tour.
Starting point is 01:11:00 But as far as... And also, I think it'd be dope if we can get some young stuff going. Like the young generation, like I don't care if it's like five to seven shows. Right. Of the new generation of people that's doing it like Daisy Bane's DC Young Fly. Not to say 85, I'm talking about like in the high generation. Right.
Starting point is 01:11:23 Like Daisy Bane, DC. Maybe a Jess Hilarious. She be the host. Who else? That's why I be like, it ain't too many people that doing stand up from social media. Right. Yeah, I can't. We would rock with those. Yeah, I think.
Starting point is 01:11:58 But of course there's other comedians. Yeah. That'd be, that'd be, that'd be, that'd be, that'd be good. Yeah. Top five current Atlanta rappers. Gucci Mane. Future. T.I. Charlie Lowe.
Starting point is 01:12:13 Outkast. Okay. Yeah. I said current, but okay. Okay. Oh, you said current. Give me who your top five all-time Atlanta rappers. That's all-time.
Starting point is 01:12:22 All right. Current. 21 Savage. Young Nudie, Lil Hair, Lil Baby. Future? Yeah, I said Future already. You put Future in the goats
Starting point is 01:12:41 and all time. Yeah, all time. I leave Future over in both worlds? Yeah, all the time. I leave Future over there. That's the wisdom. I leave him over there. You got one more? One more? Man, shout out to the lady, man.
Starting point is 01:12:55 Mulatto. I put a girl on there. Okay. Yeah. I saw you just welcome a baby girl. How has being a father changed dancing? It just gave me more why my why mm-hmm why I do what I do you know Sam it just gave me that push the extra push it makes me fresh again mm-hmm good you have a son already
Starting point is 01:13:19 yeah it makes me fresh again and And it grounds me more, man. It just let me know life is way more realer than, of course, what I'm doing. But, you know, I have an assignment. I have people that look up to me now. And I got to be a great role model for them. And, yeah, it changed my life, for sure, for sure. And I got a lot of support when it comes to it. My family's support, especially when I'm on the road.
