How did the low-force culture, you know,
influence you as a kid and did they in any way shape
your competitive drive?
Yes, because, you know, PG County, where I went to, where PG County, where I'm from, they call it basketball county.
We got KD of our kids.
Fulls, Michael Beasley, Delante West.
So many people I'm forgetting just off the top of my brain right now, but so many dope...
It killed my basketball dreams real early, first and foremost. Because you hooping against dogs every night.
Dogs every night.
I had a pup in me.
I ain't gonna lie with you, I had a pup in me, man.
So it allowed me to really focus on making music full time at an early age.
Because I know I ain't have a chance with hoops, man.
So on that sport, but it's fun.
I mean, Redskinsins now the commander culture is crazy
Like I grew up watching Santana Moss Jason Campbell Clinton Porter's Sean Taylor RIP
watching you tear us up, you know I'm saying watch it watching you tear us up Ocho and
Yeah, and even the Wizards, you know, like love the John Wall Brad Bill era
So I say all that to say because unfortunately the sports team, Wizards had some good years.
We had a couple good years with the Skans.
We having a great year with the Commanders.
But because those good years were so few and far between, it was real fans, like real deal
fans.
If you love the Commanders, you don't have way like them.
You love them.
Same with the Wizards. Right now, we in the rebuilding phase.
We got Bilal doing his thing.
We got Alexar, Jordan Poole hooping.
So I guess growing up more so of like that,
even football, we got Stefan Diggs.
You know, the Diggs brothers, both from Maryland as well.
Stefan, he hooped at Maryland at the Terms as well.
So, man, this is a real big, like,
just sports coach out there for sure.
Who haven't you collabed with?
Give me your dream collab.
Someone that you haven't been in studio with
that, like, man, I would love.
It can be male or female.
Someone you'd like to be your dream collab.
You know, you took the words right out my mouth, Ocho.
You took the words right out my mouth. I ain't gonna lie
I'm glad you said it for me, but since you said it for me
I'm gonna take my second option my second option so my first Ocho. Yeah, um my second
Hmm can they can we do that alive? I'm going to the grave. Okay. I'm going to the grave. I'm going to the grave
Sure. I'm going Marvin Gaye. Okay, I'm going to the grave. I'm going to the grave. Yeah, sure. I'm going Marvin Gaye.
I love Marvin Gaye.
Yeah. Wow.
Yeah.
Is Al Green still alive?
I think he's still alive.
He is.
Okay, I don't know.
Yes.
Okay, I love some Al Green.
I'm just going to the folks I sampled
because it'll be cheaper than sampling them.
I'm not, you gotta sing this this folks, you know, excuse me, uh
Marvin Gaye, Al Green
And Mike, Mike, I don't know how me and Mike will combine that's that's just the business side of me thinking honestly
That's just all business thinking of Mike. Well, he's obviously one of the greatest of all time
But yeah, I'll green a Marvin Gaye, man. Oh, you know, Barbara Mason.
Now I'm going Barbara Mason all day.
Wow.
Do you believe Marvin Gaye is the greatest
R&B singer of all time?
I gotta say, he from Maryland too, DC.
Just point that out there.
No, matter of fact, you know what?
Before you answer that, right?
And you think about that answer about Marvin Gaye
being the greatest R&B singer of all time.
I will say this, for those of you in the chat
that have probably never seen it,
Marvin Gaye sang the greatest Star Spangled Banner
at the 1984 NBA All-Star Game.
I've never ever heard a Star Spangled Banner sing in that manner, in that type of tone.
Legendary singer and songwriter,
Mickey Howard shared his striking memory from the height of her career.
After winning a Soul Train Music Award,
she's a devoted fan of Anita Baker,
saw her idol backstage expecting congratulations.
She was instead met with sharp comment as Anita whispered,
put that award on your mantle because it's the last award you're going to get.
The remark stung Mickey, leaving her with mixed emotion.
Reflected on that moment, Mickey Howard explained how serious and competitive artists were in
that era, particularly those who achieved legendary status.
She noted that performers like Anita Baker, Chaka Khan,
were intensely focused on their craft
with a passion that extended to even casual interactions
like Chaka's unwillingness to lose a game of cards.
Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin.
So this divaism ain't just started
because they want to make it seem like it just started
with Whitney and Mariah and Beyonce.
So we talking about before they were even born.
The Patti LaBelle's of the world, man.
Stop playing.
What you talk about, man?
Yeah.
Hold up.
Hold up.
Didn't Anita Baker kick Babyface off her tour?
Is that? I don't know. Chad, am I right? I think her and Babyface had a tour and I think Babyface was getting a little bit more attention or praise or something and I think she kicked him off the tour.
Now I could be wrong if I'm speaking out of place.
Anita Baker was going at it with somebody. But I think I read something about that. I need to be going at it with somebody.
I can't remember another artist from back then.
They just been taking pop shots at each other on Twitter.
Y'all, hold up.
You remember when they had, hold on,
they had these women singing.
I think it was Mariah.
I think it was Aretha.
They had Christina Aguilera,
they had them all out there on choke.
And they, hey, you not fit out do me.
I got that Aretha saying,
y'all better stop playing with the Queen now.
Every time one would go, another would go higher
and another would go higher and another would go higher.
Stop playing.
Now we could do
this all day how y'all want to do it
yeah so uh yeah listen and anything that you everything is gonna be great when
you want to be great at whatever it is that you're doing you know when it comes
in music yeah well it could be the corporate is that you're doing, you know, when it comes to music. Yeah. Hell, it can be the corporate world.
If you're trying to climb that goddamn ladder, sports, football, basketball.
I mean, that's, that's just what it is.
You know, anything else that you're doing in life where you're not trying to be
the best and the greatest at it, you're just wasting your time unless you're
just doing it for a check, you know?
Great.
Nah, them women, they want to be, I mean, Shaka and Patti LaBelle and Aretha.
I mean, you know, when you talk, yeah, Stephanie Mill, hey.
Yeah, oh, she knew.
Hey, that woman, she by this tall?
She can blow that.
Well, she got a set of lungs on her.
Ooh.
Grass, yeah.
Hey, go back, that stuff that she did
with Teddy Pendergrass? Hey. She got a sort of lungs on her. Grass, yeah. Hey, go back to that stuff that she did with a teddy pin to grass.
Hey.
Well, Stephanie, boy.
Y'all better stop playing with little Stephanie.
Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo.
Hey, sometimes I come across them old, like,
I pull up and you see them old women sing?
I'm still a woman, but old clips of those women sing.
I wish, I wish.
They just don't make them like that like they do you.
I was able to see Tina Marie live.
Oh, I hope that the remember Tina Marie
got an absolute pride.
What you, man, I got all that, man.
Go back and listen to fire and the fire.
We come from the same era of music, man.
You know?
I got all that. Go back and listen to fire and decide.
We come from the same era of music, man.
You know?
I remember when Keener Reed was at an absolute epic,
her and Rick.
Talk about breaking.
Ooh, I did not know.
Oh, because he hit a voice.
I was growing up.
He hit a voice you would never know unless you see her.
You would never know.
Ain't nothing white.
No, oh no. Ain't nothing white know ain't nothing white. Oh, oh no
Ain't nothing white ain't nothing white about that and she's pristine aguilera what it is about pristine aguilera
We got the other one voices. She's a ronda ye tall but ariana grande
Yeah
Tina, what are you gonna say?
Uh, melba don't know about you don't you know about Melba Moore, man?
Yes.
Hey, Melba.
You know about Melba Moore.
She always hit me up.
Hey, Melba, how you doing?
Yeah.
Yes.
I actually need legends, icons in the game, man.
Oh, Joe, Jaleel White is catching heat online after saying he feels Family Matters is left
out of legacy black entertainment and Family Matters
always ranking last on the polls of favorite black shows underneath Martin and Simmons singles.
Whoa, I don't understand what you mean.
If it's not a story, it's not a black story.
Family Matters is a legacy when it comes to sitcoms back in the day.
Family Matters, Martin, it is all under the same umbrella.
I mean I'm not sure what you're talking about. A different world? I mean need I
keep going? Living single? I mean it just is. And what he can't worry
about is when publications or media outlets talk about, let's talk about the
culture, the culture in general and how that show resonates with all of us
when it comes to family.
The Cosby show.
Family, all that is under the same.
Oh, absolutely.
That wasn't nothing.
And the Cosby definitely wasn't no damn thing.
He's mistaken.
I'm not sure where he's getting his information from.
But listen, it resonates with all of us.
It was okay, but bro, it resonates with all of us. It was okay, but, bro, it's okay.
Listen, it's okay.
Bro, you got, I think the show was on seven years.
You had a nice run.
You can't concern yourself about how the culture feels about certain shows.
It's okay. It's okay.
It's okay.
That doesn't make any less,
you were phenomenal in the role that you played.
Urkel is one of the roles that we'll remember forever.
But I don't think, many people think Family Matters
was as good a show as Martin.
As good a show as Living Single. As good a show as A Different World, as good a show as something else.
They're all special in their own right.
It is not. It is OK.
They're all special and different.
They all did something different, you know?
Yes.
Family Matters was a family dynamic.
It was a family dynamic.
Bill, I mean, the Cosby show was a family dynamic.
Now, if you wanted to watch something else, then you watch a different type of
show that didn't give you that family dynamic, but it was fun.
Family Matters was great, man, from top to goddamn bottom, man.
Life lessons, you know, all types of stuff they gave us, along with laughter.
Yes.
But it's okay. But look, I's okay, but look, I disagree.
I don't think because it wasn't a hood story
isn't why it's ranked underneath Living Single
and some of those other shows.
I just think those other shows were better.
That's just me.
Now there are some people that say,
hey, I like Family Matter, and that's fine too.
But Martin was Appointment Buoy.
Living Single was Appointment Buoy. like Family Matter and that's fine too. But Martin was appointment viewing.
Living Single was appointment viewing.
Right.
It just was.
It ain't nothing wrong with that.
I mean, people still watching
Rembrandt's Martin till this day.
First time.
They be showing them clips.
Your first time seeing it.
Yeah.
Which is weird.
And Martin's show, the Jamie Foxx show,
it just happened to be one of them ones.
They were special in their own right,
but that doesn't take anything away
from what family matters, what does some people.
It's all on preference and what you like.
It doesn't.
It was a good point.
Right.
Hey, I'll tell her if she made it,
but she wanted to fight Pam.
Hey, yeah.
La Roscoe. I mean, uh, Pam. Hey, yeah. La Roscoe.
I mean, that little dude.
Man, listen, man.
La Roscoe, yeah.
Martin was great, bro.
Martin was great.
Hey there, it's Michael Lewis,
author of Going Infinite, Moneyball,
The Blind Side, and Liar's Poker.
On every season of my podcast Against the Rules,

my family. I'm heading to Las Vegas and New Jersey and beyond to understand America's
newest form of legalized gambling.

Courts are not really supposed to play a big role in choosing our elected leaders.
That's for the voters to decide.

podcast where I discuss entertainment, sports,
politics and anything and everything that catches my attention.
I am here to call it as I see it and there's a whole lot of things catching my eyes these days.
Here's a clip from one of my favorite episodes.
You are not a real fighter.
You will never be discussed anywhere in boxing history.
Ever.
Fake Paul.
The movie is The Apprentice and the movie is about
young Donald Trump and his apprentice, Roy Cohen.
Real character, obviously, both are real characters.
It kind of has a Scarface vibe to it,
which I thought was very interesting.
Listen to the I Am Rapaport Stereo Podcast
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast,
and wherever you get your podcast. I show speed response to Tyreek Hill calling him out.
Man, I'm tired of hearing your ish.
I pulled up on you at practice last time.
You didn't want to race me because you were scared.
Let's do a hundred thousand dollars race.
A hundred thousand, forty meters?
Oh, shoot, boy rate of 40 meters.
Oh, shoot. But I, I, I show, I, I show speed.
Speed go ahead and get out.
Why?
Hey, listen, he's, he's quick, but Tyree's strength is his start.
He right, he right now.
Boom.
He gone.
That, that'd be a good one.
I mean, a hundred thousand, 100,000 speed ain't nothing.
Man, I ain't rich.
But look here, if I'm a professional, I'm not doing anything.
I ain't pulling no hamstrings. I ain't doing none of that racing no cash.
He lived his life. He played football.
It's more life than just football.
Man, other things you. He played football. There's more to life than just football.
Other things you play outside of football. No, no, no.
So when he hurt himself, he's full of handspring.
When he playing football.
Now what?
What you gonna say, Ocho?
That's what I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna get hurt on they job.
On they dime.
Hey.
Cause you do realize,
you do realize non footballers,
they put you do realize non football
they ain't gotta play.
You realize that right?
No they won't.
I'll tell you what I'll bet you now.
I bet you if he hurts his hamstring
they will put him on and he's not ready to go.
They're gonna put him on the non football injury list.
Why would you do? Tell me okay. Tell me, tell me
what does, I just want you to tell me this. Tell me what does Tyra get out of this?
It's still great content. He's in the NFL! There's nothing good coming out of this.
There's nothing. I'm out of town. Kids have some fun, huh? Come on, man. Don't be a Debbie Downer. You got to live some man. So sometime listen outside of football
You got to spread your goddamn wings. It's okay. He's not gonna get hurt. It's 40 p.m. 40 meters
Tyree been running since he was four years old. He gonna be alright
Mm-hmm, that's a different type of running, Ocho.
It's a draft.
He's playing football right now.
It ain't nothing but a draft fade.
It's a go crowd.
It's a go crowd.
That's football.
If he gets hurt playing football, he's covered.
It's just like, how many guys you heard got hurt
on jet skis, got hurt on jet skis got hurt got hurt on
Stealing I never heard of all
I never heard that no never
Ever okay, especially someone that was especially someone that all they do is just run. That's it and they were really really fast
Yes, sir, I'm but here's the thing there's a difference
between like 40 running the 40 and even Tyreek running football because you have
to understand like when you coming out Ocho you like man I got mad.
That apple that carrot is the NFL and I got to get there and I'm chasing it.
I don't believe Tyree can run 427. Like he did when he came out.
You know, you.
Right, yeah.
No, I'm not saying right now, I'm saying if he trained,
if he were to train, I don't believe he'd run that again.
He gonna run a 4-3 though, right now.
He talking about now.
Hey, you know the difference between 4-2 and 4-3. You know the difference between four two and four three?
You know the difference?
Yeah, I do.
It's still a couple steps.
You can reach out and touch,
you can still reach out and tap the four two dude
on the shoulder, it's like, I mean.
No, the four two dude go tap the four three guy on the shoulder.
The four three dude ain't tapping. Fuck, this guy right there. Yeah. Oh
Yeah, but
Oh Joe, there's
Man, yeah, that's some fun. Let him have some fun. Thank you. Don't you I'm here man. Oh Joe. Oh Joe
Oh Joe you got content. Yeah, you know how many highlight plays Tyree got in a bag. Oh
He got content. I don't know. Yeah, you got content. He'll need to get no more content
We'll need to talk about it, but he got great content over the last over the last year and a half
He produced great content. He's produced great coffee. Hey, he a try now. Yeah Hey,, hold on. Hold on. We hold on. Hey, he think you think you slick
Hey, hey, hey, Rick. Hey, you think you slick, huh? You think you you ain't for the upstairs me boy
You even up say he gets yeah, hey
Tyree
Future hey, can and all y'all trying to you know trying to stun on me
Future, Nick Cannon, all y'all trying to stunt on me.
Cheetah, you about to change your name to Bunny Rat. I'm coming to see y'all.
Wait, hold on.
Man, you about to leave an aim.
Your boy still making a joke.
I ain't even playing.
I ain't even playing.
I might pop out 10.
Yeah, like that well how you
know have mercy
go go hey that boy was a boat world record
is the fastest a human go go go go go
ran 20.04 in the Australian all-school
championship in Brisbane on Saturday
go go broke the same book we're right in the Australian All-School Championship in Brisbane on Saturday. Gout Gout wrote, you say World Record,
worked 16-year-old of 20.13 seconds from 2003.
Gout Gout turned 17, I just like saying Gout Gout.
Gout turned 17 on December 20th.
Only man in history that have ever run faster
at the age of 17, 20 run faster at the age of 17
20.4 at age 17 is Aryan Knighton. He ran
1984 folk ran
1993 these are adult times and me just a kid
I'm running them. God said is going to be great future for sure. I
Mean he's long happy he I mean if you look at it, mean he long happy he eat either.
I mean if you look at him on Joe, he look like he like you call it
like six foot and he got a Usain Bolt frame.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, he's not he's not as I don't want to use
the word thick pause.
He's slender.
Yeah, he okay, he's 16.
He gonna put on and he's strong, he's going to put on any, a strong, a weight on that already.
He's strong because in order to run and do what you're doing, you have to be able to
hold and maintain that.
I've been speaking.
Yeah.
You gotta hold it up right for him.
He's nice.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I love, look, I love, I mean, right, I don't, I don't love, I didn't love running.
Per se, the type of running that you got to do to be a professional, to be an elite track and field athlete.
But I just, I just love, I love watching it. I love watching it. And I love seeing these young kids.
It's kind of like the kids that run the 400. I forget his name from Maryland.
That's running, he's running 44,
what, he run 44, 20 something.
I just love seeing these kids
and hopefully they don't flake, they don't burn out.
Because those are some really bad times
at really, really young ages.
Like you said, those are grown, you're right.
Those are grown men times and you're 16.
Still a teenager.
Aria Knighton, you know, turned pro hell.
He was like a, what, a sophomore, junior in high school.
He's like, what am I getting out of this?
Let me go make me some money.
Oh yeah.
I'll raise y'all, but I'm getting paid for this.
Yeah.
But congratulations, Gout.
I'm trying to say, what would I really want?
Sports?
I need some sports memorabilia.
Like something from, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like LeBron some shoes, or Jordan shoes, Kobe shoes,
or jersey or something.
But I already got, I already got all the sports.
Yeah, I got this 40,000 ball already.
LeBron's balls.
Hey, but it was so funny that night. Yeah, I got this 40,000 ball already. The ball's ball.
Hey, but it was so funny that night. When I turned the ball around and it's saying 40,000 points.
Oh, that was hilarious.
28,000, man, look here. somebody just got a lot of money.
Lot of money man.
28,000 off of a shoe that you can't wear.
Listen, they 28 million now, imagine what they're
gonna be worth when they hold on to them for a few years.
There's no place like home, there's no place like home.
That's classic.
There's no place like home.
Oh yeah, you know what kind of dog that was?
Toto was?
Wait, don't say none, don't say none.
You gotta be some type of terrier.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Scottish.
She is.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Toto was black, right?
Yeah.
I'm trying to think, how many Terriers are there?
Oh, they're big, that's a crazy group,
and they win more best in shows than any other group.
Probably not.
You never gonna get it.
Huh?
He's a Karen.
He was a Karen Terrier.
K-E double R-Y?
Karen.
Oh, damn.
C.
Okay. Damn.
What you mean?
I told y'all the judge, remember?
I went to the show.
I loved it.
It's one of the most fun events to be a part of.
The only thing I hate, man, because now I'm like, big boy, like damn, I want that dog,
I want that dog.
You gotta have it.
I like to have that breed.
I like to have that breed.
Now you need a little bit of this.
I really need a farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm. You don't need no farm. You don't need no dog. I like to have that breed. I like to have that breed. Now you need a little bit of this one.
I really need a farm.
You don't need no farm.
You don't need no farm.
Because you won't have time to tend to all the animals.
I want me a little miniature cow, a miniature goat, a miniature horse.
Hey, you know what's funny?
I always wanted a fairy for some reason. I never did get one, but I always wanted a fair.
They just seemed so cool.
I don't think they live that long, Ocho.
No.
Animals, I mean, animals don't really,
I mean, especially when you like domestic,
I mean, you gotta understand, Ocho.
Like in the wild, they're not gonna live long
because, you know, they get hunted,
something eats them, so average.
They should live long if you domesticate them.
No, that doesn't make no sense.
No, I think like...
I know, but obviously if you do,
and then obviously, they...
Ash, when you get there to talk about Ash got,
and Big Bowl, look what you got on my...
That's hot. Bio-Farm of Texas. Hey, far if you move to Texas I'm going to
I'll oh Joe now I'm saying we have this discipline at our big age where we can
move to Texas and be okay and focus we can have a singular focus on work and
nothing else.
Here's the thing.
It's like when you're recovering at it,
whatever the case may be,
let's just say,
let's just say,
let's just say, oh Joe, I drink,
and I'm alcohol.
Oh Joe, I gotta drive by a bar every day.
I got to drive by a package store every day.
That's a good thing, huh?
Because you know what?
The more you do it, the more you drive by that bar, the more you drive by that bar
and create that discipline not to go in, the easier it gets over time.
If you and I moved to Houston, all of, listen time if you and I moved to Houston
Listen if you and I moved to Houston regardless of the jungle of beautiful gorgeous
Curvaceous women that they have out there at our disposal well at your disposal. I'm not available, but anyway, but
Imagine the more you able to do it the more you see him the more you see him, the more you see him out, you don't say nothing. And you got them blinders on like you a horse
in the Kentucky Derby, and you can't see nothing but Nightcap.
You can't see nothing but ESPN.
You can't see nothing but Club Shaysay.
Over time, it becomes easier.
It becomes routine.
Oh, Joe.
How many times you going to a restaurant and that guy hand you that dessert menu
and you full and you order dessert. I don't get dessert but I'm with you when you say a coffee. Thank you. I'm with you when you say a latte. Exactly. That's a completely different scenario based on what we know. No. No. I ain't going.
Houston is off. Forget it. We ain't going. No. Yeah. Maybe, maybe I better be
thinking about Nashville. Hey, I mean listen. Nashville Tennessee. I like Nashville
simply for the music. Tennessee. The music. the different genres of music, of live music,
you can go watch and attend, but to live, no.
And it's an up and coming city that's getting much better.
It's getting much better, but I don't wanna live there.
I don't wanna live there.
The music, the jazz, the jazz bar.
I need focus.
You can focus in Houston. I need to be somewhere I can they focus You can focus in you need to be somewhere I can focus
You can focus everything everything is so clear. It's a crystal clear. Are you shy?
Wait, we got what we got. What we got? What we got?
I know you're excited about this.
McDonald's.
McDonald's will bring back the snack wraps in 2025.
But one thing they said it.
He might not come when you want him, but he's always on time.
He might not come when you want him, but he's always on time. On might not come when you want him, but he's always on time.
McDonald's is bringing back the snack wrap, baby.
That's what I'm talking about.
But the funny thing about it is in the time it is great is the fact that the snack
wraps are coming back in 2025 and I can't even have McDonald's until the New Year.
Yeah.
See how God work.
He only listens to you about that. All right He don't make no mistakes. Hey listen, think about it. So you mean about it, but that's right on time.
He don't make no mistakes.
Mm-hmm.
He don't make no mistakes.

Now that I think about it, it's a thousand of them for just like that.
That ain't even charging that price.
Nothing, because they might actually like you.
What are you talking about?
Okay, now you told me that you've been telling me for the last 18 months, hey, uh, and that's
what you told me.
Now all of a sudden you telling me somebody's gonna like me for me.
Yeah, based on name and resume alone, they gonna like you too.
You ain't even got to do nothing.
Which father, guess what?
Thank you. And I'm not naive enough. They gonna like me for what? Thank you.
And I'm not naive enough.
They don't like me for who?
You forget who you just told me who I was, who I am and what I am?
Are you sure that's for me?
You're right.
They do like me for me.
You ain't even got to do nothing.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
You think so? Yeah, okay. Yeah, okay.
You think so?
I don't know that good little, that good little package.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you just said that good little package.
But I'm just saying that good little package.
The holiday is coming up. Why couldn't it be for you?
Huh?
You ain't gonna try it?
Mm-mm.
No.
Hey.
And plus I ain't going home, so I ain't gonna be with the family.
You need to pack it just for you and her for Christmas.
Nah.
Hey, my family gonna be Jordan and Ash.
It's gonna be Jordan and Ash. It's gonna be. Yeah.
Yeah.
I might get that one packet for Jordan.
Jordan, you want that platinum package?
Jordan will be a bro like Birdman.
Man.
That's funny.
I don't know what they got.
Hey, look, hey, Ocho, you keep saying the economy is bad.
People try to make a hustle.
Like you hustling backwards because it's the people that her customers, the customers,
the customers that are going to be able to afford those packages, the deluxe,
the platinum.
Listen, they ain't going for what she got listed on there.
You buy, you raise to a thousand and have something.
That's not a Bitcoin package.
A happy ending to something, talk about a kiss on the cheek.
Who?
Damn.
Talk about kiss who on the cheek. Who? I don't know. Talk about kiss who on the cheek.
Like a test.
Bam.

catching my eyes these days. Here's a clip from one of my favorite episodes.
You are not a real fighter. You will never be discussed anywhere in boxing
history. Ever. Fake Paul. The movie is The Apprentice and the movie is about young Donald Trump and his apprentice
Roy Cohen.
Real character, obviously both real characters.
It kind of has a Scarface vibe to it, which I thought was very interesting.

Here's the thing with relationships
Yeah, it's always tough the breakup is always tough
If you're not the one that wants to get broken up with see if you want to do to break it up
It seems hey, I'm done.
This ain't working for me.
But when you want to be there, but at the end of the day,
if they're not trying to hear that, I can't beg you.
Now, listen, I ain't going after you.
Now, I might jog a little bit.
I want grits. I might speed walk might juggle a little bit, you know, I might, I might, I might speed walk.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But hey, this, this, this, we talked about it last night with JR, you know,
you know, that there are times that, and that, that pain and being in that fetal position and
understanding that hurt that comes with that, something that was an intricate part of your day to day.
Yeah, for sure.
And having that gone, it can be rough.
It can be rough, regardless of how much pride and how much ego you got, you know?
Yeah.
I don't wish that pain on nobody, man.
I don't wish that I wish that pain on nobody man
Ocho
If it doesn't hurt you didn't care enough
Come on that I'm not telling what somebody told them tell you what I know
Because I invest a lot in whatever I do
So that's why when I lost it hurt me. That's why I had to go home. I couldn't be around people
because I know what I put into that game.
Not just the game that week,
but I know what I did that off season.
Yeah.
When you're in a relationship
and you know what you put into it to make this work
and all of a sudden it doesn't
and that person doesn't wanna be with you,
that is hurt.
You know what the most important thing to do is the fact that you invest in something And all of a sudden it doesn't and that person doesn't want to be with you.
Is the fact that you invest in something.
And you don't get you don't get the return on investment.
You can't get that back. And then that individual doesn't want to be with you anymore.
And then you start knowing that then Brad, then you start questioning yourself.
So I'm looking in the mirror.
Well, shit, what the fuck wrong with me?
Look at me.
Look at this.
Who don't like this chocolate?
Oh, talk to me now.
And what hurts sometimes, Ocho, is that as the thing is starting to stray, they give you the worst of themselves, but
immediately give somebody else the best of themselves.
I do it.
Oh, Joe.
Stop.
Oh, Joe.
I'm done.
I'm done.
Oh, Joe.
I'm done.
I'm done with this.
I'm done.
Let's let's just move on.
Oh, Joe.
Let's just move on.
Well, you talk at night.
Let's just move on. Oh Joe talking about so when things are ending
They give you the worst of themselves and give the new person the benefit of the doubt and they get the best version of them
Way if you had a thing why me do you, I get $100 right now. But if you had a burn right now, you can, you can have my whole thing.
Hey, well you priest.
Bro, I look, Oh Joe, I know I joke a lot and, and, and, but I've had, I spent a lot of time
by myself and analyze and I'm very
self analytical I look at my analyze my thing for what they truly are but they
call me crep low no dollars but yeah but but that I think that's what really hurts.
And that's why like a lot of times,
like when you leave a relationship,
you really have to, you really have to like let it go.
You have to like, I don't, you know,
I can't follow because I've been that Ocho.
I know because I broke it up with people
and gave them the worst of me and immediately gave somebody else the best. I've been that Ocho. I know because I've broken up with people and gave them the worst of me and immediately gave somebody else the best
I've done it cuz I'm telling you what somebody's told you told me
I'm telling you what I know and I'm telling you how human nature is
And so that's and I remember and I'm thinking to myself
Thank you. You are now Shannon,
why couldn't you be like that then?
It's tough boy, it's tough.
Yeah boy.
It's tough man.
I remember in like yesterday,
I made look, and this is really the first time.
I remember my homeboy, he called, he said, homeboy, how you doing? I said, man, I ain't good.
He said, homeboy, he said, I know you you will never you would never ask me to
Mm-hmm. But if you need me to I'll call on your on your behalf
When somebody when somebody that that's close to you and they say I'm willing to extend myself
I'm willing to extend my self. I'm willing to extend my name.
And then my sister, I remember talking to my sister and she would always send me
things every morning, every morning when I wake up because obviously she's on East Coast. I'm in LA.
So by the time I get up at, you know, I was getting up because I had to be to work at 4 ocho
So I'm getting up at 3 15 cuz I got to take the dogs out
Let them do what they need to do
I need to take a shower and I need to get to work
So she would always send me these things and I remember getting home and I was about to go to bed
I was about to take a nap after the show and I remember she called me
And she said how you doing? I said, I'm all right. I said, I'm all right, but she said, Shannon.
Yeah.
It was quiet.
You said,
she said, how long you been Shannon?
I said, all my life. She said, you been you been Shanna? I said, all my life.
She said, you've been big, you've been strong,
you've been resilient, you've been loving,
you've been caring.
Because this woman ends your life,
you still gonna be Shanna.
Don't let this situation change you, Shadda.
You're still gonna be my baby brother and I'm still gonna love you.
And it was, now obviously my homeboys, Bucket and Burns, they called and they checked on
me, but it was my brother and sister because they like my mother and father, even though
we brothers and sisters is the relationship that we have.
And they were, I remember this,
this when it really dawned on me, Ocho,
that I was really in a dark place.
Take your time.
And my brother's never said this before
and he's never said this to me since.
He said, if you need me, I'll come out there.
I'm a, at the time, how old am I?
I'm, this was 2006.
So I'm 48.
Right. Yeah.
48, 49, about to be 40.
I was 49.
You say, if you need me, I'll come out there.
That's when it really dawned on him.
I said, damn, he really worried.
My brother really, he had never shown me that I know later.
I've been talking to him.
He's been other situations that he's been worried about me,
but he never, but he never let me know that he was worried.
That was the first time in 49 years that I could see, I could tell that he was worried. That was the first time in 49 years that I could see,
I could tell that he was worried.
Man, I remember I know that you snapped about it. What the heck?
How long? How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long?
How long? How long? Tell me about six, seven months though. It did, Ocho. It did.
It did.
Hey, boy, that was.
But.
Yeah, dude.
Sunshine follows rain, Ocho.
I'm better for it.
And I look back, there are some things that I couldn't, I wouldn't have had I had I not
that that relationship not dissolved. look back, there are some things that I could, I wouldn't have had, had I not,
did that relationship not dissolve?
I'm not here because I turned away a lot of things because I didn't want to be away from home because I didn't want to be away from her because you know, she.
Well, I need to go make, you know, I'm turning down 50, $75,000 gigs because
she's not comfortable helping people up and where he's at.
Why does he want to be with you?
Right.
She started to believe like, yeah, why do you want to be with me?
You're this and you can have this, that, that.
Come on.
I acted all that in when I decided to be with you.
Do you not do not think about that then?
Why is it an issue now?
Stop worrying about why I chose you.
Right.
I did.
Why is unimportant?
Because in this situation, Ocho, yeah, I'm who I am and you are who you are.
But should I not love you just the same?
Should I feel differently because you don't have this name?
You don't have this title.
I'm just, I was, I was, I was confused about why she felt that way.
Why?
I hate when women ask me, you can have anybody.
Why me?
You know what?
Now that I think about it, I promise you go try to find one of them, anybody's
and leave you to F alone because you're unsure of yourself, which is going to
make you unsure of us.
And then long as there's doubt in your mind, you're never going to be able
to fully give yourself to me.
Yeah but like you just said earlier God don't make no mistakes.
Hey to 1987 Chad will you grow your hair back?
I will grow my hair back. If I go into campus,
I'll be in campus about three months.
I'm looking forward to beating the shit out of Keith Lee.
I'm not sure I'm gonna scale up that fight,
but when I do go into a fight camp,
I will grow my hair out, won't cut it,
look scruffy, I won't cut it till fight night.
So at whatever point this comes into fruition,
because he done, he done, he done broke up,
he done broke up, check his ass, can't cash.
Oh.
Yeah.
But you know, sometimes, Ocho,
when you dealing with situations,
and we'll get back to this, the shoes,
is that a lot of times it's the outside.
Because when I was in college, all her girlfriends was in her ear.
Right. Oh, he ain't.
I was like, do you understand why you over the pain?
And I ain't round about it.
I said, but you know, your girl's trying to holler at me, right?
Why they telling you, you shouldn't be with him.
I don't know what you see in him.
They the same ones when they catch me, you shouldn't be with him, I don't know what you see in him. They the same ones.
When they catch me and you not around, they asking the same, I'm saying to myself, they
asking the same questions.
Why you with her?
You can do so much better.
Yeah.
And matter of fact, you know what?
You know what's funny?
You run out of relationships.
Is the one doing all the talking, or why you with him?
You ever notice they always single
Always notice they all never had nobody or they bounce they think
They bounce it from pillar to post or they bounce of the misery love company, but they want you in the same situation in
No consistency. Nobody you can depend on
Can you have instantly come here live water, you know, well, you know what? I know he always gonna be there for me no matter what
Assistant Lee come hell out of water, you know, well, you know what? I know he always going to be there for me no matter what.
And guess what?
Why they talking about, I don't know why I guarantee you right now they'll
switch positions with you, but they don't know why, why you want to be with him,
but they'll switch positions with you and be with him.
I don't know why women like that. I ain't't never been no situation. Yeah. Hey, enjoy enjoy that's what you want to be. Take off
I ain't gonna let you I don't let you I don't let you gotta say so mess over my boy now if I see
Don't do it don't be talking about it ain't, it ain't what you think.
It's exactly what I think.
So whatever you think I think I'm thinking, that's what I'm thinking.
Don't tell him, that's what I thought.

Anya and I met through hockey and now we're married and moms to two awesome toddlers,
ages two and four.
And we're excited about our new podcast, Moms Who Puck, which talks about everything from pro hockey
to professional women's athletes to raising children and all the messiness in between.
So listen to Moms Who Puck on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
