Here's the quarterback's dead on 7-on-7-11 drills. DeShon-Watson took all the first. first team reps. He went 17 of 20 and seven touchdowns. Zero interceptions. Shoulder Sanders went 11 of 16, two touchdowns, one interception. Dylan Gabriel went four of six, two touchdowns, zero interceptions. And the rookie green took no snaps.

Does Deshaun having a big day completely flip the strip, excuse me, the script, ohio, does it? Does this change anything in your mind? Do you believe it changed anything in Todd Monk in mind, seeing how well he did in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills? No, I don't think so, Uncle. And I'll say it before. I know a lot of people we love Shadoor.

We want Shadoor to start. Obviously, he finished his season off extremely strong, based on the way he played, having commanded the offense, and I'm sure he would pick up exactly where he left up last year. But again, it comes down to business, Uncle Joe. It comes down the business. An amount of money that they're paying Deshaun Watson. he's going to start regardless.

The job is his to lose. Now, a lot of people, they're emotional about it when I talk about this and I say Deshaun's going to start. No, I love Shadour. I do. I wholeheartedly believe if Deshawn doesn't play well by maybe week four, maybe week five, before it's too late, you know, without them being outside the playoff pitcher,

you know, changes will be made. But the job is Deshaun was to lose. You know, the thing is, I can't say that I disagree. The only thing is about that, and you know how this is. When you start the season, let's just say for the sake of argument, they start the season 0 or 5 or they start 1 in 4. Yes. In order to get back to 500, oh, show, you got to go 4 and 0, you got to go 5 and 0 just to get back.

You write you right by that. Yeah, you right by that. So now basically at that point in time, half your season is gone. You lose two games. You lose two of those three or you lose three, excuse me, two of those five games or you lose three of those five games. Now you, you are three of eight. What the hell you're about to do with three and eight? The mere fact tells me, if you're three and eight with 11 games to go,

the likelihood of you running off six straight ain't very good. Ain't happening. No, no, but if you look at it, right, I don't, I don't, statistically, and from a percentage standpoint, I don't know exactly what week most quarterbacks are bench when they're not playing well, but I'm just going to say a five or six. A lot of times, go, Joe, before you go, Joe, a lot of time it has to do it to buy, when is your buy week? Because guess what?

Ah, that's a good one. That's a good one. We prepare, yes. Do I got a home game because I want to start him at home in front of a favorable crowd as opposed to starting him on the road in a hostile environment. Go ahead. Joe. Hey, listen, I think Deshaun, you know, today he was spinning that thing.

He had it going. Yeah. But I still think Uncle Ocho, Monk and Ty Monk, he really don't, he still don't know yet, bro. You know, I know this was a good day for Deshaun, but at the same time, I still think he has a lot of faith in Shador. And I think it's going to be. a battle, you know, throughout, throughout preseason, throughout the preseason games. I don't think we really going to know who's going to be the starting quarterback to probably

right before week one, if you just want me to be 100. Now, I did say Deshaun took all the first team reps, you know. Yes, every last one of them. Yeah, yeah. So I don't know. I don't know what that's about, but I'm with you, I'm with y'all, you know, uh, uh, Deshaun makes so much money that ain't, you know, it's going to be kind of hard to start should do it, have all that situation. on the bench. 406 million on the bench. Yeah, but then think about it. At some point, is he ever going to get a chance to play?

If should do a start, I don't really think so. So I'm probably with you, I'm probably with y'all, man. I think Watson is probably going to start the season off as a starting quarterback, but it's still a lot of time, love, man. You know, we'll see. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Joe, and obviously, it's a lot of time, too.

And training camp isn't really a tall tale on how you're going to play during the season. In training camp, you're familiar with each other. Everything is scripted. You got players on defense that be cheating. You got players on offense that know exactly what's going to be in front of them. Yeah. They know what coverage. The defense is going to be in.

They're going to run their route for cordon to Joe. They be cheating their ass long. Hey, hey, it's the same thing with basketball, man. When we're in practice and you're playing against the second team and they know all our damn players, we can't work on none because they're cheating the plays. I already know what you're coming. And I'll be getting mad. I ain't going to be in my chat.

I'll be getting mad. pissed off. I say, but yeah, come game time, you don't know the play. The dude will be tearing your ass up. Now all of a sudden, you over here, you got everybody thinking you're Dionne Sanders. And now when you get on the field, you're getting plucked like a chicken. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Hey, you know what?

If I was Todd Monkin, obviously, the Cleveland Browns obviously trying to compete in the AFC North, try to get themselves back into the playoff environment and playoff birth in general. If I would Deshawn, I'm just saying. if I was in his position as a quarterback, I'm wanting to play all the preseason game. For sure. I'm wanting to get me,

maybe give me a series in the first one, maybe get two or three series in the second one. And I think in that third one, I want to play to the half. I want to get as much live, in-game reps as possible to get acclimated to the speed of game, to get a familiarity with my officer players, whatever it may be.

That's just me. Because I enjoyed the preseason, Joe. I enjoyed that thing. I wanted to play. I can't think about it though. And that AFC North, Ocho, yeah, the Browns probably got the worst quarterbacks out of all them teams.

It no probably. Yeah. They do. We need to hold nobody, man. No problem. They do. Hey, so they got a fix, man. I know it's been a while since they really had a setting stone starting quarterback.

But, man, I want to see, I ain't going to lie. I want to see the Browns do well. I actually want to see Shadur get a shot play well. I mean, because if you think about it, that he was the best quarterback coming out in that draft last year. You know, he had the highest passing rating, highest completion percentage, and I just felt like he won no day a fifth round pick, man.

That's just me, though. No, he definitely, I agree. I definitely don't believe he should have been a fifth round pick. But the question is, and Joe, you asked, like, okay, Deshaun Watson took all the reps. He's 17 or 27 touchdown, zero interceptions. Should do it with 11 of 16, two touchdowns, one of the reception, Dylan Gabriel,

four of six, two touchdowns, zero interceptions. Prior to this, we saw, we saw the thing where Deshaun Watson had much more in a, many more interceptions. Yeah. Than you do her. Same thing with Dylan Gabriel. So the question I asked this chat for the, this question is for the women and for the men.

You got treats you like crap for say the last two weeks. Mm. Is there a gift that he can buy you to make you forget everything that he's done to you over those two weeks? your old lady treats you bad for two weeks. Is there a gift? Is there a gesture that she can do? I shouldn't say a gift.

only as good as the support cast. If we try to, if we try to see anything like the Deshawn Watson of old, everybody else around him. Oh, Joe. It's got to be old. It ain't just the people around them. It's that damn old line. And what that old line going to look like?

Hey. It wasn't like, I mean, I think with the exception of Tunsel, I don't think his old line was that good in, and, and, and, and Houston. Houston ain't really had no old line on a bear. I don't know if Houston's ever had an old line. Because they've got, they got David, they got a David Carr, the league guy. They got his ass sack 76 times.

the first year and he was never the same. So we go back and study the Houston, Texas over the course of their existence. The offensive line has been terrible. Hey, and Shadu ain't had no damn offensive line either since he didn't have no damn offence of line. He didn't have no damn offensive line since he didn't have no damn. He didn't have no damn.

You know, I know we talk about, we talk about the Browns making it to the playoffs. And that division, man, it's gonna be tough as long as well. Man, go 500. Huh? You're talking about five. You're talking about the playoff. Joe, damn, can they go 500?

Can they win? Well, you can't go 500 anymore? Can they be nine and eight? I'm saying, you know, there's a lot of teams that come into, come into the season with expectations, talk about whether it's the championship, this, that, and the third. Man, come on, man. That's, hey, Joe, that's not realistic, Joe.

If you look at the landscape of the NFL, Uncle Joe, to be honest with you, you probably got 18. You probably got 18. teams that are constructed that have a realistic chance. Realistic. Realistic. Realistic. Realistic chance. Not only making the playoffs, but hoisting that got there in the body trophy. I mean, being realistic. Based on, you know, how they're structured, what you have on offense, what you have, you definitely got to have a defense.

You definitely got to have a defense. You got to have adequate offense that can compete week in and week out. I will say this. Expectations leads to disappointment. We've all been there. We don't win out, hey, we don't win out there. Oh yeah, hey, I don't took a guy, got this nice. I brought flowers. I brought flowers before I changed,

because that's what gentlemen, that's what I saw in the movie, that's what they do. Brought me some flowers, oh, Joe. We got that nice meal. You know I'm saying, I'm young, I can stay up late. Hey, let's go to the movie. I get to the dope.

I had expectations based on what I had done. Hello. That it was going to pay off in something in the end. Yeah. People think, oh, we had a great training camp. Everybody came in and everybody. I don't guarantee you're going to win. You're going to win a whole bunch of damn games.

Yeah, they don't mean none, boy. That don't mean. Hey, another thing that don't mean none is, the preseason too. Absolutely not. I didn't see, I didn't see, I didn't see many a teams go forward

knowing the preseason and lay an end. Hold on, absolutely regular season. So y'all telling me, if a dude come out, let's say he ain't no quarterback, right,

but he plays one of the elite positions. And you say he comes out in the preseason, he ball, you mean, telling me that ain't going going to put no stain on the coach's brain. Like, man, I might need to find,

find some room from playing time. Yes, yes, but see now, you see what you've done, Joe? You put expectations on him. Mm-hmm. You see what you just did, Joe? Yeah. You said that bad don't put a state in your mind that he could do this.

Now you don't put expectations. Now we didn't meet that expectation then what? What we got on to? Uncle, Uncle. Well, hold on, Uncle, Joe. Joe, you got to think about it now. We talk about preseason. Let's say not a quarterback.

Just say skill position, right? You got to receive out there cutting up in the preseason. Big the Cruz was the guy that showed his. Oh, hey, A, and he cut a fool during the race in season too. He was that boy. But it's the thing, Joe. You got to remember preseason, you're going against two degrees and fours now. That's not what you're going to see on Sunday.

It's 1100 guys going to get cut, Joe. Damn. 1100 guys going to get cut. A thousand, my man. So they're going to go, they're going to go from 80 to, uh, uh, they probably got 90 guys in camp. At some point in time, you got to wielding that thing down and keep wheeling down, wheeling down, wheel it down. You might have a hundred guys in camp.

You're going to wielding that thing down and whittle it down and whittle it down and whittle it down, whittle it down, will it down. With that being said, I think the thing is that you hope, I mean, look, also correct me if I'm wrong, I think with the exception of maybe five guys, coaches and staff know who their guys are going to be

going into the season. You'll get a big group. You'll get a Rod Smith. You'll get a Terrell Davis. But for the most part, you have a general idea, your starters and your backups. Now some guys, sometimes the guy is going to flash, it's going to be like, oh, I got to give this guy, especially if he does it early, because now I got to give him an extra look, Joe.

Yeah. I got to make, okay, let me see what he's like with John. Let me see what he's like with the number one defense. Let me see what he's like behind the number one punt return team. So now I can, I can evaluate him a little better because if I get him constantly going against twos and threes and going against some guys that potentially might not make the team, I don't know if I'm doing a fair evaluation. of him and what he's capable of doing. Because I know a lot of the guys that he's making plays against, they're not going to be in the league.

So now I got to give him, I got to give him a better look. I got to give him a more extensive look. Right. Ocho, you said something earlier that like, when the guys in camp, they look at at plays and then you see these guys and you know the guy can't tee off on you.

But that guy across the field, he can tee off on your ass and he's trying to make a club he's trying to make the club yeah oh yeah oh yeah so he he's looking at you as an opportunity for him to make the club

see in your own team guys ain't gonna hit you like that they're gonna walk walk up every once in a while you get a guy you know and then you're gonna get a lot of push and shove it until I don't do that the most somebody gonna throw the ball and hit you in the head

with a hitch in the back but across that when he don't know what you're gonna do and you don't know what he's gonna do Yeah, he got some for you. It's a different ball game. You got you got to play honest, Joe. Ain't no cheat.

But the many years that I've played in the NBA, it's probably been about three to four times, Uncle Ocho to where when we invite castor training camp and you be like, man, you know, coach might tell you, well, look, buddy and them ain't going to make the team,

but we need some bodies for camp. But it's been a few times, man, I'm talking. about about three four times where dudes who was supposed to make the team, hell, they made the team just by being relentless, working hard, and just out there doing whatever. Austin Reeves. Huh?

because we got it. So, okay, let me see. You say he throws somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 yards. He has somewhere between, say, 22 and 30 touchdowns. Yeah, somebody will play him. Yeah. Absolutely. But I'm not just saying, but think about what you just said.

That's a no-brainer, right? It's a no-brain, but what team? Yeah. Cleveland might be. Ocho, I give you a prime example. Look at Tua. They paid Tua, and I just read the report that Tua looked like he's going to be the start in Atlanta.

All they do is watch take all the time of said player. Obviously, look, hey, the top I mean, what we're talking about, anybody that didn't have Patrick Mahon, number one, I don't give it down if he did come up injury. If he got legs, he's number one. So I mean, what do we do, no, Joe?

He got with five footballers of the six-year-fay. So I don't know what we're discussing. He won three. He's a three-time league, a two-time league MVP. He's a three-time, you know, Super Bowl MVP. What we do with here? But. Mm-hmm.

And I think Michael Pennix might have a, Joe, your quarterback in Atlanta, might have a great career. But I told Ocho, I was skeptical at the time. I said it don't make sense to me. This pick does not make sense to me. If you took cousins and you take a quarterback. Hey, but he plays so well. Who?

Uncle Joe. You just don't want to, you just don't want to leave Pinnock's on the table. No one you need a quarterback. Pennix when he was coming out of college. Oh, Joe, he played so well. And wouldn't that mean? What was that good while he's still in college?

Man, you know how to know how. That's why he's still in college. Yes, I know, exactly. You know how I go. A lot of people, a lot of, listen, players staying in college, transferring schools, going to other schools, he had an injury.

His, was the elbow or was his shoulder? Towards ACL. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, something like that. So having to have to stay, you know, in school to be able to prove yourself so you can get drafted a little higher, which is exactly what happened.

Let me ask you a question. If you didn't have to go to all those jukees, if you could have played, if you could have, like your freshman year, you played balled out. Okay, you redshirted, you balled out, you balled out your fresh red shirt freshman year. You bought out your red shirt, or red shirt sophomore year? You stay in

school or you coming out? Okay. Well, I'm coming out, right? Why are you coming out? I'm coming out. Cause you're him. Hey, because yeah, he was bawling. Hey, listen, hey, and you dubbed that he would, he was nice. And then, oh, Joe. Hello. So now you've got a whole different argument. We could have a whole different conversation, Ocho. The guy's making three, four, five, six million dollars. Okay, fine. I got, I'm not a fit to fight you on that. But, uh, and you know, Pinnick's,

And he's still, since he's been pro, since he's been the NFL, Ocho, you know, he's still been kind of bogged down on injury. So it don't surprise me that tour is going to start, you know, you hope to see Pennings get back to, you know, being a pretty good, uh, QB. But Atlanta got, you know, they got problems because they got weapons, man. Atlanta got all the weapons you go won't, bro. I'm talking about at every position. Yes.

Yeah, tight in, receiver. Oh, running back. A solid opposite line. Listen, all two we got to do is don't turn the ball over. And Tua is a very, very good quarterback. He's a good system quarterback and a rhythm and timing type quarterback. When you hit a, when you hit that seven step, that ball going to be right down your face mask.

Now, he might not have the strongest arm in the world. People might not like his deep ball. Yeah. But I'm saying just being an adequate quarterback, just being able to run an offense, he can do that because we've seen him. Two of throwing that ball on Saturday night to get in there on Sunday. That's what I'm saying.

Hey, hey, he's talking about two of two. Man, we talked about tour last year. Come on, man. Come on, Ojo. Hold on. Hey, are we forgetting the season two ahead with Rik and the back-to-back season? When that one, two years ago? Are we forgetting that season?

That man talking about something to happen three years ago. I think, look, let me tell you, let me tell you, and then I'm going to let you all let you, let you guys decide. I'm always leery,

especially of a quarterback that has an injury history in college. Oh, okay. Because if he's injured in college, Ocho, and they play 10, 11, 12 games. Yeah. The physicality of NFL, now they play 17 games.

The likelihood of him of avoiding. That's all I'm saying. Go ahead. What you, what do you think? Yeah, it's hard. It's hard. It's hard. Hey, listen, I'm with you when you're right. Most of the time, listen, if you, if you, if you, if you're limping out of college, you're going to live into the pros. You're going to live it to the pros. It is what it is. Some, some people are fortunate. Some people, I mean, it just, it just is it is, it is what it is. that injury bug, it hits you at the, at the, at the worst times as well. And it happens to some players.

It's just unfortunate the way the way the body is. I hate calling people glass. I hate people calling people brittle, but you just can't avoid them sometimes. Man, it's hard. When I sit here and listen to some of these guys talk and they say they don't talk to, they don't get advice from guys on their team,

whether it's coaches or players. Uncle Ocho, I don't know how to hear you play the game, bro, like that. You know what I mean? Like, if you ain't lending the ear and you ain't being a sponge about the game that you're playing, bro, it's hard to improve. Yeah, you can work to you,

blue in the damn face. But man, you got, you have to ask for help. You can't be too good to where you feel like you can't ask questions. And that's my only problem. Right. I agree. I was not afraid.

I was like, I would ask John what I'm doing. What could I do better? Man. I was very fortunate that some of the veteran receivers, I had Duke Jackson, Mark Jackson, had Van Johnson,

Ricky Nat, and Michael Young, they really, really helped me. It's like, hey, man, you know, they,

A lot of the defensive guys, it was guys like Steve Atwater and Dennis Smith's like, Dennis Smith used to tell me all the time, he's like, hey, you're like, you're going to be good. Yeah. I said, you think so, Huda? We called it the big Kuhuna. I said, Huna, you think so? He's like, yeah, you're going to be good. Just keep working, just keep doing.

And it was just to hear him, a guy that had been around for an extended period of time, he had been a multiple time pro bowl player, an awesome player for the Broncos. He's in the ring of fame. And he's telling me this rookie that I'm, that I'm going to be good. that I can be good if I just keep working. Because I think I'm working. And I just, you know, I always remember my grandfather saying, he said, boy, never mistake having it for hard work.

And I was like, I think I'm working hard. And there are a lot of people that think they're working hard that might not be working hard or might not know how to work. There's one thing to know, you know, to work. And then there's another thing to know how to work. Right. But it did something to hear him tell me that I could be good or you thought I could be good if I just kept working.

But I ain't never had a problem to ask no questions. I'm not because, the veteran guys on your team, bro, who you should lean on. I take you back to when I was a rookie. I had Tony Boutique,

Eric Williams, and I'm saying Eric Williams because me and him played the same position, Uncle Ocho, but instead of him, you know, going out doing his own thing

and leaving me to, bro, he, he landed every day, bro, he was giving me some wisdom and some advice to be effective in the offense to why I could.

where I could have opportunities to, you know, put my stamp on the game. So it's just little stuff like that, man, that you really appreciate, especially as a young dude when you come in because you're so blind and everything, you're so oblivious to things. You're like, damn, you don't really know how hard,

you don't really know how hard you're supposed to work to be a pro coming out of college. You don't know that, man. Right. Because you're so much better than everybody else in college, Joe. So, hey, you're getting by on pure athleticism. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, not even just college.

in high school. Like when you're good, when you're so good, bro, and it doesn't, you know, you can just wake up out of bed and do your thing. You know, when the game time comes, versus it's almost like somebody who's very smart and then somebody who really has to study a lot for a test. I knew people. Yeah, I knew people who didn't have to study for tests in school. Hell, I had to be up all night. Okay, Ocho. Look, and trying to write stuff on my forearms to have a little cheek hole. You know what I'm saying? Like, it was, it was, it was hard. for me you know but to some people man they come to class so relaxed chill hell make straight a ease I'm like you know it's a little different for everybody

you know what I mean it all depends on the class that was me Joe if it was math class man I don't got everything I'd got no wrote down on my pencil I got that hey I had them young lady write this down on my pencil a B D D a C yeah but history of stuff like that I'm good hey hey I can do some stuff but yeah I just yeah This is right here, boy, they got some, who. Come on, man. Come on, man.

They got basically, basically you see that, though, they got, we don't took it down, but they got four tier one guys. They say, Mahomes, Alex Stafford. They're the only tier one guys. And then you got a bunch of tier two guys. So basically five through 17 is tier two. But when I tell people that,

I'm like, guys, y'all keep talking about everybody, bro, it's always been, they try to make it seem like now, Now, this is a fewer quarterbacks to never. No, it's not. You had the same number of quarterbacks. They weren't a whole bunch of Elways, Montana, and Dan Marino's back then.

They weren't. Right, right. They were not. And just like they tried to elevate people and put them in there, but the only difference I will say now compared to back then is that you had to put multiple, multiple years in, Ocho, before they gave you a title. Yes.

Now, a guy to have one good year, Hey, he the best receiver in the league. He the best running back in the league. He the best quarterback in the league. He the best. After one year, they used to make, Ocho, you know this. They used to make you work.

You had to go to multiple pro bowl. You couldn't go to no one. And your first pro bowl, you made, look here, you was observant. You were listening to everything else because more times than not, guys that were over there with you had gone to one, two, three, or four,

had gone to multiple pro bowls before you. So you had to, hey, you had, Hey, you weren't coming up there calling no shots. Now, I got have one good season. Oh, he the best I ever seen. Huh? You boy, hey, you must have been blind up until yesterday. Yeah.

It's all about, in a matter of fact, that tier one is all about being consistent. That tier one, that those top four, those top five are consistent over and over and over. And everybody under that has a chance to be consistent. But it all come down to them Ws. It comes down to them Ws. There's a lot of quarterbacks that's not in that tier one. They got a lot of passing. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

But I do think based on his history and being a two-time league MVP could easily be a three-time MVP, it's hard for me to say Lamar Jackson is not tier one. Man. He is. That's what I'm going to say. It's hard for me not. It's just hard because I remember the time that used to matter.

because it used to matter guys winning an MVP in the regular season, Joe, because that's, guess what? That's over a 16 game season. Yes. The Super Bowl MVP, that's one game. We've seen guys get one win Super Bowl MVP and be out of the league the next year. Tell me the guy that's won the league MVP that's out of the league in the next year. Yeah.

I'm confused only a handful of probably six of them okay Patrick Mahomes has an MVP Josh Allen has an MVP Matthew Stafford has an MVP. Aaron Rogers has an MVP. So basically the same number of guys that have Super Bowl rings has MVP's. Y'all think that is easy? I mean, from a distance, it does.

It's not. It's not. And when you get, and this is why I said, once Lamar gets a Super Bowl, he goes into a whole different category. Yep. Because there's not a whole lot of guys that have multiple. Multiple means more than one.

MVP's and. So now you're talking about Joe Montana. Now you're talking about Tom Brady. Now you're talking about Peyton Manning. Now you're talking about Aaron Rogers. Now you're talking about a home boy. Now you're talking about the Johnny Uninus. You see now that list to be in that list.

Mm. I know everybody wants to, everybody wants their team, wants their quarterback to win. But if everybody won, Ocho, what, what's the significance of winning if everybody won? Well, it had no significance.
