Please, please Drake responsibly and stay safe. Ocho, Geron, Boots, and is put on a clinic. When's the WBA, WBO, your middleweight titles.
Starting point is 00:06:51 He now a two-division world champ. He knocked him down in the first round, got him again in the third, and I think it was the fourth, no, the fifth round, and then he stopped him in the seventh. Hey,
Starting point is 00:07:01 if, I thought if it was a woman in the ring, I thought Xana was proposing. He's like, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, you're learning for that, huh? Hey,
Starting point is 00:07:12 hey, uncle, he's taking a lot of punishment in that, man, he's taking a lot of punishment in there. I really, I mean, let me know when to go, uncle, go ahead. All of him says this, when he came, when he switched,
Starting point is 00:07:21 he started out an orthodox because he's an orthodox fighter. He went to South Paul. Ocho, every lead left he threw, he landed it. He was like, damn, 100%. I'm talking about every, I'm talking about blush. I'm like, damn, Sandy,
Starting point is 00:07:35 he's doing all this. His head still. It's like, you know how they move that ball? And they'll be punching that ball and be going back and forth. That's the end. Shoulder's moving. Head right there.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Right there. Right there. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, but Booth to the little beam too now. Yeah, hey, eh, Joe, that, hey, that third round. Come on. That third, that third round, I mean, Boof said it. Boof said it, you know, when you talk to the commentator after the fight in that third round, I got a little bit lazy with my defense.
Starting point is 00:08:06 He took some shots, Unk and Joe, but most of the time he rolled with him. Yeah. But that third round, and I'm surprised at Zander, also, that, Boots being the puncher that he is Zander chose to just stay in the pocket and just... Oh, man. Get out of range.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Or move your head. I do both. Get out of range and move your damn head. Yeah. Yeah, he getting caught in between punches. Hey. Booth showed me something, though, because he took some...
Starting point is 00:08:36 Hey, he took a little beating himself for him to still stay in there. Oh, yeah. And stay in that pocket like that. Yeah. And fight that. Oh, man, listen. Hey, the only thing that concerns me is...
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yeah. you know, Booth's playing better, fighting better competition. And you know guys who probably hit a little harder. Yeah, I mean, especially. Yeah, once you go up to 154. Well, he had 154. Now he's talking about he might end up at 68. You start going to 6068 when you start getting middle and super middle.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Boy, look here, they knock your damn head off. Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely. Obviously, everyone at those weight classes, they hit a little harder. Yes, man. Therefore, defense, you're going to have to be a little bit more polished, a little bit more sound. and be weary, especially when you sit in the pocket, you know, with people and you don't wanna get caught in between exchanges when you're punching.
Starting point is 00:09:24 But tonight was a phenomenal fight, and I salute Xander too, Uncle Joe. Why? Because he decided at 23 years old, at the champion, I'm gonna take a test. I'm gonna take a chance. I'm gonna do something that most fighters won't do today. I'm not worried about my record.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I'm not worried about my legacy. I'm gonna go ahead and give the people that are boxing fans something that they want. A good fight. Man, listen, listen. Damn, how long he'd been out when last time he fought with Ojo? Who? The other dude.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Zander, yeah. He was out for a minute, right? No, now, he's active. He'd be active. He ain't been that long? We can find out Joe's last fight. I think it's been like a year and some change, ain't it, Ojo? I'm not sure, Joe, but he active, though.
Starting point is 00:10:08 He should, hey, he probably should have got a little tune-up for you got to mess with boots, bro. Yeah, I don't think a tune-up, but when it's a chance. change nothing. Two new to change nothing. I just don't like the game plan of sitting there in the pocket
Starting point is 00:10:23 and fighting with a puncher like that. You know, get in there, pick and choose when you want to throw, you know, throw your combinations,
Starting point is 00:10:31 get out of range. Because you know, because you know, because y'all know what happened. He threw his ward out in that damn third, in that third round. He threw his wide.
Starting point is 00:10:39 The problem is he's not a round. See, the thing that Bruce is going going to have a problem with is because he's not out artist and the order to sit on that back foot and throw punches, he finds himself out of position a lot, Ocho. Now, better fighters and fighters that got bricks in their hands, yeah, touch his chin, he out of there because he, I mean, he's throwing punches and he's like
Starting point is 00:11:00 this. Yeah. So, and that's, expect, look, you already know Ocho as got somebody that's farred and bit that really follows the fight game. In order to throw the punch, you got to subject yourself to take something. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. When you see somebody, they, phew, well, the minute you stick your head up and, phew, somebody gets you, pah! Yeah, something coming back, always. Go ahead, don't Joe? Now, I was going to say, I really enjoy that fight. I really enjoy that fight.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Zander impressed me, even defeat. Like, I salute them. You have to, because this is something that we've been arguing about, Joe, all the time about people not want to take chances, people not want to fight. You know, fighters trying to protect the zero. But I think even with him, even with him losing, even in defeat, I salute Zander. I salute him. And I think he's going to be a champ. He's going to be a champ again.
Starting point is 00:11:57 And as far as Bruce goes, I'm not sure who he fights, you know, from here on out. I think Virgil Ortiz would be a good one. I'm not sure what's going on with that. But I really enjoy it. That was an entertaining fight. No, you know what? Zander fought. His last fight was January 31st of 2026.
Starting point is 00:12:14 He won a decision, and then he fought before that. He fought July 26 or 2025. He won by unanimous decision. Oh, yeah, he's been pretty active. Yeah, he acted, Joe. He just, I think, Boots is just a step above where he is currently. He is. And I thought he just, man, I thought he came out so aggressive, so fast,
Starting point is 00:12:36 Unc and Ocho. I was like, ain't no way this is going to distance, bro. He can't get, like, you taking too much of a beating. You're standing there in that box, trade, blow. I'm like, oh, yeah, that boy didn't through his wide. That's, excuse me, that fourth and fifth round. I saw, yeah, he ain't, I saw the way he, when he, because he switched,
Starting point is 00:12:53 he started out in Orthodox, then he went to silo, and he was hitting it with every lead that he threw. I said, I tell you what, if he don't get out of range and move his damn head, we're about to start nightcap. I don't know, I don't know what time we had the schedule for, but if he didn't do those three, two things, we're about to start this early, because you can't know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Ocho, you, I mean, he getting hit like, like he's a punching bag. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm talking about, I'm talking about right, right down the pipe. Pipe, yeah. No, bro. You can.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Hey, but then it was like Booth was trying to challenge himself to see if he could eat one of them punches and steal. You know what I mean? Yeah. Hold on, bro. Why you ain't going to lie to you, Joe. Boots have some moments where he'd be real slick in the pocket. and he's like he being slow motion. You know how he's playing around.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, he had some moments like that. We was real slick, but boy, in that third round, Boo scared me, boy. You see what happened? No, Joe. He got, what did they tell you? Never back straight out. He backed straight out.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Oh, yeah. His head was on the line. Yeah, hair was on the line. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. You can't do that. You can't pull straight back. Yeah. I mean, you would know something by not pulling straight back.
Starting point is 00:14:09 You know, you got to in here, so. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, you see? My man, my man, Joe. No, no, no, no. I ain't, I, Joe, you see? I ain't, I ain't, I ain't said nothing. Say he didn't win, he didn't win, he didn't win,
Starting point is 00:14:20 he didn't win, he didn't, talking boxing. No, you're gonna back in, no, no, not even parking space. But no, no, I thought, I thought, I thought, um, tonight, boots was very, very impressive. I understand, uh, uh, Zander is a young fighter. He's, uh, 23 years of age. And to take this step so, um, early in his career a lot.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Very, very early. He lost. We can applaud him, but we see far too many guys that got belts that are older than 23 that will not take, accept the challenge. They keep up, we gotta have a rehydration clause, and we gotta fight at catch weight, and we need to fight on Mars, and then can somebody go to the moon? Man, stop with all these damn stipulations
Starting point is 00:15:08 to get y'all ass in there and fight. Hey, what you say they wanna fight where? On the moon? Marr's all over the place. Hey, Ocho, they want rehydration clauses. They won't catch weight. Nah. You got a belt.
Starting point is 00:15:22 I got a belt. Hey, let's get it on. Let's get it on. Yeah. Sean, Showtime Porter said, boost lacks discipline. That's the downfall. And no game plan.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Like I said, Virgil Ortiz Jr. says, if I get him like that, I promise you, I'll get him out of there. Terrence Paul said, I'm going to keep my car. comments to myself, but y'all, but y'all get it, I hope. Because you know, Booz was talking about he won't Bud.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Bud, he hit him. Oh, he's going to sleep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's not bad. He's not with that, Ocho. A clean shot like Xander hit him with?
Starting point is 00:16:01 Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. We saw, we saw with Bud too, you know, Bud being the fighter that he is, the resume and the accolades that he's put up. But we saw against Canelo, he sat in the pocket. Yes. The one thing that we talked about in that fight with him going against Canello is sticking
Starting point is 00:16:17 and moving and getting out the way because we thought, you know, Canello was too powerful. Yeah. And it too hard. And with the goddamn Bud shows us, I'm going to sit right here in the pocket. I'm going to pick my opportunities and my chances and when to take him. And he sat there in exchange with him. Yeah. Bud, I'm not Bud, Bud, but Conno doesn't have the hand speed.
Starting point is 00:16:36 So Bud really wasn't worried about him putting combo, putting a one, two, three together, one, one two one three bud was never worried about that he knew connello was going to try to wind up he knew canello was going to try to get him out of there because canella thought he had a decided advantage here's a guy that's been fighting his damn near his whole career at 168 68 he's moved up but jump i mean think about what bud started 40 47 54 he's that one fight at 54 f 60 i'm going to 68 and i'm going to get the only man that's ever unified that division Canelo
Starting point is 00:17:14 yeah but hey bud sit down no but here's the thing having sit down and talk to Bud and rassal bud bud
Starting point is 00:17:23 but stronger than you think see they look at his size and they say oh man bud's okay hey what he fighting that what bud fighting that most of his career 147 4047
Starting point is 00:17:33 he had the one fight at 54 and then he took Canelo at 68 he bypassed 60 he never had a fight at 60 only had one fight at 54 and one fight in 68. The majority 40-47. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:49 That's a mega fight right there. Boots and Bud? Yeah. I'll tell you what. Y'all might not get paid that much. I'm taking all that money and put it on bud. I don't know what you do with you.
Starting point is 00:18:06 With y'all, but I'll put all that money on bud. Yeah. I mean, I don't think that's happening. anytime soon, but is enjoying retirement right now. But I think the next fight for Boots is Virgil Ortiz. Yeah, yeah. I think Virgil Otis, especially with him talking.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Oh yeah, he just, he just, he just, read your tweet, Ocho. Yeah. Yeah, I get him like that, I promise you. I get him out of there. Hey, Moose had a game playing today. I'm gonna come out aggressive. I'm not fighting at range.
Starting point is 00:18:38 I'm not fighting at distance. I'm gonna sit in this pocket and go. It seems as if Booth challenged himself to do something to do something different. I'm going to show y'all, I'm going to make the fight entertaining. If you paid money to come watch me fight, I'm going to make an entertainer. I'm not doing no running. I'm going to sit in the pocket. And he literally did just that.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Now, just doing that also when you decided to do that, you got to be on point, Joe, defensively. Because you're going to get, you get caught in between punches. And what happened? He got wobble. But here's the thing, though, Ocho. I'll put it to you like this. going up against a DB that he happened to be 165. Guess what Ocho gonna say, man, I ain't gonna finesse you.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I'm fin to bully you. I'm fit to bully you. That's why Boots was able to sit there. He'd never believe for one second Zander could hurt him with any shot that he threw. That's why he's not in the pocket. He's sitting in the pocket. First of all, Bud, I don't know if Bud would fight him like he fought, uh, uh, Conello.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Bud is a lot smarter you think. Bug, a. people sleep on bud i don't know i don't know why i mean he's the only man that's unified three divisions and you don't see guys go from 140 to 68 jump three basically one fight at 54 basically he jumped three come on now but i don't know i don't i don't know if bud bud's like look man i don't made money now it's time for me to sit back and let the young fell let the other fellas have it he a four division champ he's a three a year of three a year three division unified champ.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Let that sink in. In the four-bed era, he got three division in which he had all four of them. Hey, hey, if the bag big enough, they mayn't have come fight, Uncle.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Hey, Joe, you know, you know, you know, we know the script now. Yeah, yeah. Come on,
Starting point is 00:20:29 we know the script. We just see many, many of the boxes retired and they do it on purpose. They come, they retire, why they're on top. It's only one way to get him out.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Yep, make it worth my while. How much are we talking? Hello. Hello. He's going to take a Canelo number. But man, boots, boots look unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Had him on the show, he seemed, you know, you guys, we talked to him. He seemed so competing. Hey, composed. Like, hey, not even words. They had a great camp. Everything, everything was a trending in the right direction. No massive cuts.
Starting point is 00:21:04 It didn't have to do anything extraordinary. Just going there and booze tonight. And that was plenty. Hey, hey. That was plenty. Man, I'm like, Xander, bro. Oh, I honestly, I can honestly say, I don't know if I've ever seen somebody get hit
Starting point is 00:21:20 with that many leads clean to start. I mean, you know, okay, as the fight waned, okay, got, guys tired. Hey, you're taking some punishment. You got, you know, one of the eye of the clothes, you got a bad cut, it's bleeding. But, oh, Joe, in the first damn round, you're supposed to be at your absolute precious.
Starting point is 00:21:38 Yeah. Yeah. Booth came out aggressive, huh? He came out aggressive. him. I'm gonna jump on him. I'm gonna jump on him right away just to set the tone and let him know what kind of night is gonna be. And Xander like, okay, bet. He let him know. You know what? Zanda, look like. Hey, hey, hey, Uncle Joe, Xander looked like the stronger person. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He looked, he big. Get him off me. Yeah. I mean, he probably, when he refueled, Ocho, I would not be
Starting point is 00:22:02 surprised. I don't know what they had to come back out. I mean, how much they could come in at. But he looked like he, 54, he looked like 65, maybe even 70. Yeah, he might be big. He, he He's a bigger individual in the boots anyway. Hey. And as a fan of sport of boxing, bro, this is what you want to see. You want to see something exciting, man. All that fill out the first three, four rounds and then, you know what I mean? Like here, man, them boys got right to it as soon as the bell rang.
Starting point is 00:22:32 You know what I mean? So I can appreciate that. In boots, I mean, just coming from a line of boxes, bro. His dad in his corner, his brother's box. His brother. Yeah. because he's been in this situation before this is all he's done his whole life bro. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's probably everything that he's seen. So it was
Starting point is 00:22:49 impressive tonight. I want him to protect himself a little more before the most part bro. I thought some of the combinations he was putting together on Uncle Ocho the way he were bopping that boy up side of his head. I was like, how in the hell the dude still standing up? Hey, he's tough, boy. Damn. And you know what? The funny thing about it too, Uncle Joe, ain't no way in hell as a Puerto African fighter, he was going to give up and he was going to quit. If he was going to lose that fight tonight,
Starting point is 00:23:18 Buster's going to have to knock him out or his towel will have to throw the corner, throw the towel in. Yeah. One of the two was going to happen. But in that ring, but Zanda showed this night, I'm not quitting. I'm going out on my shield. Well, man, he went down. He went down twice.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Without that marriage proposal, without that, no, we went out three times. Without that marriage proposal, he didn't win out on his shield. It's right. Hey, without that, what are? That marriage proposal. That's a good one. Hey, that's a good one. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Hey, hey, because what you call him? Hey, he dug to the body, he felt him dig it in. He dug to the body, a bha. But he could, hey, that, what was that? The second knock down, hey, the uppercut. He never saw it. Ah, Corey, Quay-Quil-Cle-Tle-th. That's the most dangerous one,
Starting point is 00:24:02 because you never see it. Maybe at the last second or overhand, you might catch it, it still might not be able to do, but that upperc, you never see it, it's a blind spot. You look at, you look at where he was looking and where who threw it from, he never saw it.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Yeah. Hey, the funny thing about it is he threw the jab, huh? And he noticed, okay, every time I throw the jab, I'm hitting him and if I don't hit him, he's dropping down to the side. He faked, I'm gonna throw this uppercut. Yep. Hey, listen, I'm gonna throw the jab and had an uppercup coming where your head gonna be.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Yep, yeah. Hey, hold this. Joe, that's just how I'm gonna do your whole. Joe? Here we go. Yeah. Hey, I'm, hey, Joe, I'm motivated. Oh, Joe, you was taking notes from that fight, so you're looking for the lead.
Starting point is 00:24:49 That lead left going to land the whole night. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That man, reached, what you mean, that lead left? That damn left ain't going to hit nothing, but my damn elbow here. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Okay. You, hey, I got too much reach on you, man. I told you, boy, you're going to have to eat two or three to eat before you can even get up in here. No, Joe, I'm coming to that thing. I'm coming to that thing. Tyson, Joe. You go get your ass knocked out. Plan.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Yep. Go on the floor. No, no, no, no. No, no. I don't get it clean. Ocho, Ocho, I'm precise with my punches, bro. I'm not there. I'm just, ha, ha.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Okay. Yeah, it sounds good. You got the, hey, you got the noise down, right? Yeah. That's about it. So, Bruce, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, 40s. So Bush started at 35th with the 40, 47, had one fight at light middle, uh,
Starting point is 00:25:36 uh, which is, uh, uh, uh, uh, 154. and then super middle. But this is like, hey, Booth put on the show. This is what you want to see. This is what boxing fans want to see. They want to see guys.
Starting point is 00:25:51 They want to see guys. I mean, both guys had unblemished records. Hey, somebody owe guys to go. These guys be hoarded. Hey, man, these guys be hoarding these records like they got,
Starting point is 00:26:00 that gold bricks. Man, fight. Hey. You end the fight. Oh, Joe, how did it look? Man, hey, nah, I don't even want to play this week. They got X, Y, over there. So,
Starting point is 00:26:10 I don't want to, you know, I might not catch me two or three passes or I might get shut out. No, fight. You in the fight game. Hey, hey, it's a little different nowadays. Everything is magnified at the highs nowadays. So a guy take a loss hell, he got to see that for the next month on these social media platforms, especially if he didn't got his ass.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Well, let me ask you a question. Let me ask you what you got to look at. Let me ask you both you got the question. Yeah. To rate these guys going, some of these guys that's going to finish with undefeated records, would they ever be viewed better than you? and Sugar Ray, Marvin Hacker, Roberto Duran, Salvador Sanchez, hell no.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Henry, Henry, no, but also, I don't even think they worried about being viewed better than anybody. They're trying to maximize their up, they're earning, they're earning potential every time they fight. Yeah. What's the best way to do that? How do I maximize as much than I can doing my boxing career in this small window? Be entertaining. I got to keep that zero. Be entertaining.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I got to keep that zero. And I got that, that too. But everybody, you know how hard it is to be entertaining, talk a little trash, you know, market yourself, brain yourself, and go out there and back it up. Hey, you don't want none of this. Everybody talking a good game on social media. Are you that to do you a box?
Starting point is 00:27:29 Everybody show up to everybody fight. Oh, I want to fight here. That can be, that could be a fight. Let's make it happen. And don't nobody do nothing. Hey, hey, that's because in boxing, bro, you like your own self-promoter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:43 You know what I'm saying? Like, you got to promote yourself. So if you're an Ocho fighting, yeah, and I want that smoke, I'm a mad child fight, yeah, yeah, yeah, and you whip the mess out of Ocho. Yeah. Oh, whoa, come on, come on, man. Don't. Oh, you didn't like that analogy? No, I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:27:56 And not at all. I'm going to be out there yelling and say, yeah, I won't hunk neck. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah, I want to honk neck. Hey. Hey, you're going to be like Mr. T with, Mr. T with clubber leg. He's your rocky fight.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Yeah, I want it. Bow, boy, you're ducking me. Stop ducking. Tell everybody. You know what, Uncle Joe? You know what? When you think about boxing, too, they're not that many personalities. No, many personalities.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I mean, very, very polar. There are no polarizing figures, you know, that are entertaining when it comes to the mic. I think Agent Broner might have been our last one. So all the fighters right now that are undefeated, they have to protect that zero for one for earning potential, being the A side. And if you, if you don't have that polarizing figure or that energy, aspect that you bring to the fight game,
Starting point is 00:28:45 you're not a draw. Yeah. If you're not a draw, you can't take those chances. You can lose a fight or two if you're a draw and everybody coming to see you fight no matter what. Hey.
Starting point is 00:28:59 But if you're not, be one or two things. You got to protect the zero. You either be entertaining or you can fight. But you can't be boring and not entertaining. And we pick one. Because if you think about it, Tyson didn't say a whole lot. Tyson knocked folks out.
Starting point is 00:29:14 And you get a guy like a Roy Jones Jr. Roy Jones was entertaining. And he could fight. Oh, thank you. So, hold on. Hey, hold on, Joe, let's not sleep on Adrian Brown.
Starting point is 00:29:26 Yeah. Hey, Joe, let's not sleep on young Adrian Brown. Yeah. I know we see him on the back of his career. When he first started Joe, yeah, how about entertainment? Yeah, he was the draw. Even in losses, he could.
Starting point is 00:29:42 still sell out of arena. Why? Because you don't know what the hell to expect. He's unpredictable. But it's entertaining. When he said, when they asked to say, say, Adrian, what were you thinking in there? He's like, man, I'm getting cooked. Hey. Hey, hey, hey, why y'all BS are though? Listen, y'all don't. Y'all them boxes, bro. They work too damn hard, man. Hey, look, them some of the most in-shaped athletes. Probably there is outside of track and field. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Yeah. Man, listen, you get in there playing you want to. Somebody look and take your damn head off, bro. Three minutes seem like 10 minutes. Ooh. I'm telling, look, I ain't do no sparring, but to just put being on the clock and hitting the bag and hitting the midst. Man, that man, my arm, hey, he's like, come on.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Hey, you know, oh, Joe, you know, I float the ride. Yeah. I'm shooting that jack. Ha ha. What's just hot. Ha ha. Man, about 45 seconds. Man, my heart about it exploded.
Starting point is 00:30:54 He's like, come on. Yeah. Well, what? Yeah. Man, I got to sit down, man. To keep it. So now, you remember you, you watch fight guys. You remember how we watched fights.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Like, man, throw punches. Bro, you get so bad. Your brain will not tell your arms nothing. Yeah, yeah. Hey, it get your newfound respect for them boxes, hell yeah. You gotta, I'm telling you, man, hey, and them arms and them hands get heavy as I don't know what.
Starting point is 00:31:21 You're talking about being on their phone, oh Joe. Hey, hey, Joe. And damn that phone. You saw what happened to me in that fourth round. Yeah. On that goddamn exhibition, hey, hey, Joe, I can see the punch coming from a mile away. Joe, he winding up.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Joe, he bought it from his hip, Joe. Yeah. He bought it from his hip, Joe. Yeah. man, I see that. Boy, I couldn't, Joe, I couldn't even raise my hand, Joe. Damn. I couldn't, I couldn't get it if I wanted to.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Man, I was like, man, my arms are on my body. Ain't no way these, these, right? Hey. Hey, that's when they teach you about to breathe. Oh, yeah. Control of you. That's everything. Oh, it is, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:01 But see, I've never been able to breathe correctly because I'm a guy that holds my breath. So, you know what I'm saying? I mean, if you think about it, most of the time, you're running around. You're not breathing. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:32:15 So to try to remain calm. That's the hardest part. Yeah. It's doing something physical and remaining calm. Yep. Because at the end of the day, you got fight or flight. Mm-hmm. It's really that simple.
Starting point is 00:32:33 It is, bro. I mean, somebody get out for you, you like, oh, yeah, just let me breathe. Man, hey. Hey, take one breath. And that's why you got to be conscious of that, for real, like them deep inhales through your nose and slowly exhale, I'm telling you, bro, that take you a long way in sports.
Starting point is 00:32:56 I don't give you damn what sport you're playing. You've got to know how to control that breathing now. But it was, this is what boxing is meant to be. Champions, going against champions, guys fighting, guys putting, hey, put it on the line, and let's go get it done. So I was very excited. I'm happy for boots.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Xander, giving him an opportunity to shine. Hey, did y'all see that, Ben Whitaker? Ooh, you stand? Put him, put that one in. Hey, that's, he ain't had no damn time to get to a hell. He whooped his ass so bad. He ain't had time to get to it. He did.
Starting point is 00:33:37 He did. But he looked good. He looked good. Finally fought, finally fought. someone twit, what is he not, 13, oh, and one, but he looked good. He looked good. I don't know, how he'd get a one?
Starting point is 00:33:48 He had a draw. He draw. Oh. Yeah, he can fight like him, bro. Hey, look, they talk about his antics. Okay, Ojo, but don't let that boy fool you. That boy a hell of a shape. He got some skills, man.
Starting point is 00:34:00 He got some skills. I think he'd do all the antics, you know, for, you know, more visibility. He want people to really tune in and watch. He want to be a draw, but he can fight. He can fight. Guess who else had a lot of hands? Sugar Ray Lanner. Who?
Starting point is 00:34:14 Guess who else? Muhammad Ali? What do you think? Oh, Joe. Prince Nassine? What did he get this from? Prince Nassine? And Sugar Ray shuffling his feet.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Yeah. Yeah. Joe, you've seen Kli's the Prince Nassine fighting for him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, um, I mean, one of my favorite fighter, probably to me, the most entertaining fighter of all time, even though his record is upside down in a sense, Emmanuel Augustus. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:37 The drunken master. Joe. Oh, yeah. I know you're talking. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah. Hey, oh, man, hey, hey, man. Well, I, that's, that's, that's entertainment.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Yeah. But I definitely would like to see Ben Whitaker fight again. I think as he goes along, they're bringing him along at just the right pace. Eventually, he's going to get a little stiff in competition. But by that time, he'll hone his help. He will have honed his skills even more. And so that would be something to something. I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force.
Starting point is 00:36:03 From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people, and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the MyCultura podcast network, available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,

Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akela Hughes. In Rebel Spirit, Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit.
Starting point is 00:39:43 How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Behold, Leonel Messi came off the bench in the 60th minute of Argentina's World Cup group stage finale against Jordan, celebrating his return with a stunning free kick to seal, a 3-1 victory for the reigning champions, who had already wrapped up first place in the group. His strike extended his record with the highest goal score in men's World Cup history with 19 goals.
Starting point is 00:40:18 it also broke the record for scoring in the most consecutive World Cup matches at seven. Oh, Joe, it's getting hard and harder for you to keep fighting for your guy. No, no, no, no, I'm good. I know you're hanging in there, but I'm saying he's making it a hard and harder. Yeah, yeah. Hey, listen, listen, Messi is who he is, Uncle Joe. He is who he is.
Starting point is 00:40:40 He's one of those that, that, when it comes to those who love him, they have the facts and the opinions and the stats, the backup why they love him. And I'll be the first to say, one who is a, a, a football enthusiast that Messi is phenomenal what he's done for the game, you know, being able to watch him and holding your breath anytime the ball is at his feet and watch him dribble through everybody. You know what? I don't feel like dreaming through everybody. I can process information and be two or three steps ahead of everybody else on the field and know where you're going to be at before I even pass the ball. I enjoy. I get it. I understand what I'm watching. But again, the
Starting point is 00:41:17 despite what he's done throughout his career and even still doing now on the World Cup stage at 30. I don't know how he is. He's older. But being able to do it and dictate games at his age. I think Mr. 38. He is? I think so. I don't want to be disrespectful.
Starting point is 00:41:35 That's why I said 30-something. Yeah, I'm almost certain, O-T. But, messy, a, messy boy, hey. 39, oh, 2. That's crazy. And the funny thing about it, too, right, is half of you. People argue with me. Oh, Joe, his birthday two days before mine.
Starting point is 00:41:52 He was a 24th. Oh, so he just turned 39. 39, yes. Hey, that's crazy, Joe. Hey, when he was introduced, I forgot what year was. I forgot what game it was he came on. And I was watching, but it was football season. When he was playing in Barcelona,
Starting point is 00:42:17 he was introduced in very, very, very, young. I was able to go and see him play later on after the season ended. Obviously, you know, I used to fly back and forward, Joe, after the season went in. Yeah. Go to Real Madrid, then go to Barcelona. Meet all the players.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Go to Madrid. Go to Barcelona. And so, dude, I mean, I'd be arguing with people and I've been watching this dude damn there 20 years, Joe. Yeah. 20, 20 years. That's crazy. He's been, but he just makes it look so effortless. No, he'd make it look easy.
Starting point is 00:42:48 I'm like, come on, man. Damn. I mean, they say talk a hard. How you come in just like that and just kick and the ball in the damn net? Hey, hey, some, sometimes, bro, the pace that some guys play it, I don't give a damn what you do.
Starting point is 00:43:04 You can't speed them up. They play their own pace and they make the game look easy as I don't know what. You know what I mean? And that's kind of how it is for messy. It's like the game is just so easy for him. One minute he'll lure you to sleep. Next minute his ass gone.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Bingo. You know what I'm a man? Yeah. He got that, you know, it just looked. He just, God blessed him. Some people like God say, you meant to do this. I don't know what his other talents. I don't know if he can shoot pool.
Starting point is 00:43:35 I don't know if he can shoot a basketball. I don't know if you can play table tennis. But man, that joke of left foot is magical. Yeah. It's surgical. Yeah. And like I said, some people, all they can do is what God gave them the ability to do is to do that very well.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Now some people like, hey, you look at a guy like a Mookie Betz, Mookie Betts might be the best all around athlete I've ever seen as far as shooting pool, rolling dice, shooting the basketball, throwing the ball, bowling, Mookie Betts, I put Mookie Betts against anybody. Man, listen, I did a bowling event with him by the year ago, Uncle Ocho. They had that man bowling down there on his own lane.
Starting point is 00:44:14 He up there bowling two eighties and two years. Yes. It ain't the highs. 300. You know what I'm saying? He just, he gifted. Shoot a basketball. He could, I mean, he's phenomenal. Play all the positions. He could be a gold glove
Starting point is 00:44:29 at every position, probably other than pitcher. But he can play third base, short, second, first, center, right, left. He can play every position, and he could be, he would be a gold glove at every position other than pitcher. That's how good he is. Yeah, he's serious. He's serious. He's serious. He's nice. He nice. He's nice.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Man, what you call it, man? They screwed, I ran. I ran head. We did it be about to go to the, they got the dude offside? Yeah. Yeah. Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Let that man go. They got enough going on. Hey, hey, Joe, and I say it and I say it again. Well, Messi is the greatest gift that he gave to the beautiful game. Now, listen, some people say he's the goat. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:45:17 Hey, Joe, sometimes you got two fine women, right? Yeah. And the one on the left, you know, is messy. Yeah. She's fine. She can do no wrong. Yeah. She's perfect in everybody else's eyes.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Okay. But the one on the right, you like her better. Yeah. Even though the one on the left, to everybody else seems to be perfect. Flau, can do no wrong. Yeah. But there's something about that one over there on the right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah. I just like something about her. The way she carry herself. Yeah. She's walking the heels. Yeah. Is my page the only one showing up since you notice since we talked about Kate Birdians, what keeps showing up on your Explorer page?
Starting point is 00:45:56 Kate Birdie, yeah. On your page? Oh, my page blocked the other women outside the one I have. Hey, what are you? Come on, bro. You can't live like that, Ocho. No, it's like, it's like a parental advisory. You can't live like that, bro.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Huh? You can't live like that. Well, then. I already know what's on Unc Explore page. I already know where he is. No, no, no. What's how you like that? Joe?
Starting point is 00:46:21 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been trying to get Jordan to do a reset on my Explorer page. Hey. Hey, I don't even, hey, John, honestly, I don't know how to get to explore page. I don't know. I'm not really good. Hey, just cut to what you call them on and you hit that center button. It'll go right to it.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Yeah. Hey, what's wrong? What's wrong with being on the Explore page? though I don't understand it. It's a bad thing or something. I mean, that's the menu, Joe. That's the what? The menu.
Starting point is 00:46:54 I ain't ordering from, I'm just looking. I ain't ordering from the menu. That day, you can't. Oh, Joe, tell my man, just call you the UK, you know, you can't read the video. I say, hey, you ever be like, you know what? As a matter of fact, let me switch that. Instead of getting that steak, let me get the chicken.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Oh, you don't, no, no, no, no. And let me get the, let me get the lobster mac and cheese. See, the problem here, I don't be trying to, I don't sneak and be on the explore page or nothing like that. You know, I'd be on the explore page sitting right next to my lady. I ain't, look. Let me tell you something, man. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Don't be trying to sneak and do nothing. You always get caught doing something. You know what I mean? I'm just, I don't be on explore page, but it just be, I'm like, well, I wasn't looking for this. Hey, Joe, I'm, I'm gonna try that, Joe. But I'll be on the plane and people try to like, what, uh, what do you, what do you, what What do you what do you want?
Starting point is 00:47:48 Man, you don't get out my hand in the phone. Talk about what I'm looking at. None of your badness. Yeah, Joe. I should have told me. I'm going to try that, Joe. Hey, listen, listen, listen. You got a bunch of fitness, fitness, IG model because you're in the fitness.
Starting point is 00:48:04 You're in the fitness. You want to look, you know, try to learn you some new movements. You know, what your show. Yeah. Yeah. I get it. New movements, huh? Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Yeah. With your shoulder. They got all type of different exercises, Ocho. Yeah. Yeah. Look, look, look. We can't help nowadays that everybody in the fitness night. Damn, every time you look around, somebody.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Everybody, get on me? Everybody got to try to sell a program. And everybody named got fit in their name. Allison Fitt, Jennifer Fitt, Monica Fitt. Yeah. Sarah Fitt. It's what it is. Amber Fitt.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Body by. Everybody got fit and body by in their name. Like, damn. And they keep them body suits. But see, I don't even know now. I don't know what's altered. I don't know what's because they was filtered. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:49:01 I just automatically assume that is not your real body. So I just keep on going. Hey, let me, hey, let me find something that I can, let me sit, let me say, let me say, a, ask something I can, what you call it? Well, I find somebody bitch pressing 500 times, 10 times, 500 pounds 10 times. Right.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Man, all that other stuff. No, no, look, look, now, it's a lot on there, and I don't be on, I don't be knowing what's AI and what's not. I ain't going to lie to you. Because there'd be a lot of stuff on there to be looking fake. I'd be like, hold on, bro, let me just go on on something. AI doesn't ruin it. AI doesn't ruin your experience on being on IG.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Jalen Brown had time to respond to anyone who doubts his game. Jalen Brown's trade value isn't as high around the league per Bobby Marks. Sure, please. I had an analyst guy tell me, reviewed Jalen Brown as the seventh best player on a team. He might be talking about the dream team. He might be talking about the Dream Team 92, Dream Team 08, Dream Team 12.
Starting point is 00:49:59 I knew you ain't talking about no self-best player on what team. Right. Ain't nothing there a team. He ain't the seven best player on OKC or San Antonio. If you combine them, if you put OKC starters, San Antonio starters, Jalen Brown is not the seventh best damn player.
Starting point is 00:50:15 As a matter of fact, I can make a case for Jalen Brown. He's the best two-way player in all of basketball. He can legitimately guard one through four, legit. Yeah. Hey, analytics messing stuff up, man. Now, it's getting out of hand. Analytics is messing stuff up, Joe.
Starting point is 00:50:32 It gets out of hand. I got two eyes. It's getting out of hand. Hey, Uncle Joe. What's that? I got two eyes. Well, I got one. Yeah, one good one.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Well, I can see you. Yeah, well, hey, one good one. I got sniper vision, you hear me? But even I can see what Jalen Brown is. And to try to diminish his value in any way, you'd have to be an idiot. Excuse me. I don't mean no disrespect to anybody.
Starting point is 00:50:57 You have to be an idiot to say he's eighth best in any goddamn. Yeah. That's true. Regarding basketball in general. But it defensively are officers. If you want to say seven, you got to do is watch. If you want to say he's the eighth best ball,
Starting point is 00:51:08 four of the ball time, okay, Joe, I can see that too. Okay, okay. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. and KD and Larry Bird and you know Dr. Jay, okay, I will concede that. But what team?
Starting point is 00:51:25 I want to know the team. I need somebody to tell me the team that's currently constructed that if you take, and don't trade them, I just want you to add them. So if I just add Jalen Brown to San Antonio, he's the seventh best player. If I just add Jalen Brown to the Knicks, He's the seventh best damn player on the Knicks.
Starting point is 00:51:46 No, sir. No, sir. I'm sorry. And the general manager that told you that he's trying to get J. LeBron for the cheap. He think he's slick. Hey, there you go. But I'm slicking on the oil spill.
Starting point is 00:51:56 So you can't tell you can't fool me. Yeah. Hey, you know, they can't diminish you. Come on. Yeah, y'all doing too much. Okay. If you don't like the man, just say that. But y'all got to stop,
Starting point is 00:52:07 y'all got to stop this foolishness about trying to do. And listen. The man within the MVP conference. for the better part of the season. But he averaged 29 points, I think five rebounds, four assists, something like that. He had an outstanding season. He's a finals MVP.
Starting point is 00:52:24 He's an Eastern Conference MVP. And he's a legit two-way player. I can make a case. He's the best because when you look at Wemby, Wembe is more of a help defender. Jalen Brown can pick a guy up 94 feet and guard him. One through four. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:40 Point two, three, and fours. Yeah, he'll struggle a little bit against the Ford's because they got a little size and height on him, especially size. But one through three, he can hold his own. Listen, man, the disrespect that this man is going through throughout this entire season, bro, is ridiculous. What you mean season?
Starting point is 00:53:01 His old career. That's what really got him in a tailspin. That's what really got him in a tailspin. Because he said, y'all have really never valued me. Y'all had never given me the credit that I deserve. And I get it's tough when you do everything. He's gotten better and better, better and better. He's not no accident.
Starting point is 00:53:21 That may it seem like how you accidentally win, an Eastern Conference MVP and a final of MVP, that's over a series of game. If you want to say, you know what he's the MVP over a game, I concede that. Excuse me, Chad. But over the stretch of the games, the finals MVP, the Eastern Conference,
Starting point is 00:53:39 he's an all-NBA selection. He's a multiple-time all-star. but in his mind. And he knows it. And I think he can't really come out and say his team, but he knows who's done this. Hey, and if you're J.B., bro, Ocho, think about this.
Starting point is 00:53:59 Every damn time you look up your name and trade negotiations. Come on, man. I mean, damn. You know, considering the season he just had and it's like they have no value for him, man, he's the best two-way player in the game, Any team he goes to, I promise you,
Starting point is 00:54:15 that man gonna show his natural, you know what I mean? He ain't gonna play with him. He ain't for to play with him, bro. I think this is just fuel added to his fire that he's steady, you know, adding to. And I know he's gonna come out next season. Hey, listen, at this point, if you're Boston, you damn, they gotta trade him, okay, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:54:32 Oh, yeah. They've been trying to do it for five years. Yeah, it's too many rumblings, bro. Like, if I'm one of your key guys, and every time I look up, My name and trades. Come on, man. You know where it's coming from.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Hey, Joe, the funny thing about it, too, Uncle Joe, has anybody that's a part of the Celtics organization come out and say and debunk these things that are being said? Anybody came out to his defense? Well, listen, Brad Stevens spoke, but hell, he didn't say he wasn't trading him and he didn't say he was trading him. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:55:01 That wasn't no real quote. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. I get it. Come out, come out and defend me. What? Come out and defend me. Don't give me that PC bullshit. Go ahead, don't you?
Starting point is 00:55:12 I said that PC, that quote, that politically correct bullshit you're trying to give. Come out and defend me. And see, I think the point I was going to make earlier is that I don't think he can take dead aim at his organization. So what you do is sometimes that you, you ever seen the story with somebody, he did this. Oh, he ate his cookie or he ate a bag of potato chips and they get into a fight or he end up getting shot or he ate a piece of chicken. That wasn't what caused it.
Starting point is 00:55:42 might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but there are several things that led up to this. Yeah. The Celtics continuously every time, and I said this in a nutshell, at the end of the day, it's really simple. It's not that complicated. And we're trying to put all these pieces together.
Starting point is 00:56:03 This is a, this is a thousand piece, one piece puzzle. The Boston Celtics view Jason Tatum more valuable than Jalen Brown. That's it. Yes. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. All of this other stuff that you won't, you can say, yeah. They have, and I'm not so sure they always won't. They view JT more favorable, more valuable than J.B. That is it. Now, you can say, well, hey, y'all, and the Boston fans always try to do this,
Starting point is 00:56:35 y'all trying to break them up. No, the Boston Celtics going to break them up. Absolutely. I'm not so sure. They don't want two, $300 million guys on the roster. They don't. That's what it all boils down to. Hey, they didn't pay it off already.
Starting point is 00:56:54 I didn't pay. We had two, $300 million players on the roster because we wanted to win the championship. We got it now. Guess what it happened? They won the championship. Joe, tell them what the owners did of the Boston Celtics after they won the championship.
Starting point is 00:57:08 They sold the team. They bought the team for $3,400 million, sold it for 6.4 billion. It was at the highest value. Hey, they gave you the two fingers and spread them, Joe. Yeah. I'm gone. I'm out.
Starting point is 00:57:19 Hey, it was at the highest value. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, we put a little into this and you mean to tell me we can get a B out of this? I'm gone. That's all I'm trying to do. I'm trying to, hey, I'm trying to X my investment. Yes. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:57:35 The magic number is 10x. But if you mean to tell me, I could get, I can get 50, 20, 30 acts? Mm-hmm. That's it. And it's frustrating. It is frustrating when you don't feel that you get the credit that you deserve. Excuse me, let me take that back.
Starting point is 00:57:54 I hate saying deserve. When you feel you don't get the credit that you've earned, he's earned every accolade that he's got himself better. He's a better shooter. He's a better all-around player. He can facilitate if he has to. But he's a phenomenal, phenomenal player. And he says,
Starting point is 00:58:11 why can't people, why can't people appreciate me? Right. But he's in one of those situations on people are going to like you or they not. And obviously, everyone, most of the time, especially when it comes to the Boston Celtics,
Starting point is 00:58:27 they're going to defer to Jason Tatum. That's it. He's like, I don't care about y'all don't like me outside. Ocho, you don't care if no, nobody like you, but Cambodia got to like me. Right. Hey, come on now. Cambodia got to like.
Starting point is 00:58:41 me. All that other stuff? Oh, he ain't that cute. If he didn't have money, he wouldn't be attracted. But damn it, but I got it. Yeah. Hey, hey, but hold on. Hold on. Hey, hey, too. And add a little, add a little salt pepper on top of that. I look good. I got money. And I'm spending it. So you really got to like me. Hey, yeah. There ain't nothing coming out out of my pocket, Joe. You hear me? Yeah. Hey, as a matter of fact, she's going to have to spoil you a little bit any man. Hey, hey, Joe, you got to show me some. Hello. Hey, hey, hey, hey, and I ain't talking about no damn cologne and no drones. You got to show him something.
Starting point is 00:59:17 He's preferably on the first night. Hey, that's Ocho. See, that Ocho, I don't get that over the first night. We'll be waiting for because I want to, I want to know what I'm signing up for. When I'm fin to buy a car and I test driving, I don't tell the people at the dealership, listen, I'm going to wait a, I'm going to wait two, three weeks, you know, and then I'm going to come back and test driving. Nah, I do.
Starting point is 00:59:38 I'm a test driver right there on the spot. I need to know before I make this. Oh, you test drive? I've never tested driving a car. Test you're driving a car. Yeah. I go look, hey, hey. Oh, you, oh, don't you just go buy yours?
Starting point is 00:59:47 I already, I don't, I don't scope it out. Yeah. Okay, okay, okay. You lay in the weeds. Yeah, he laying in the weeds. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I ain't driven it. But out, hey, I did everything.
Starting point is 00:59:59 I'll check the specs out on it. Yeah, I didn't know what I'm getting. I don't know the specs. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh, you got, oh, this is got a horsepower. Okay, this is a gas on the road. This verse, I mean, this verse,
Starting point is 01:00:10 I mean in the city versus highway. Okay. Stopping power. Acceleration. Okay. Right. Six, six, six comfortably. Okay.
Starting point is 01:00:18 Air condition. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Truth control. Tiptronic. Oh, Parker City.
Starting point is 01:00:27 Yeah, I want this one. Hey, I like everything you just said, right? But think about everything you just, you know, you just named. What happens if you get behind that steering wheel? And even with all those, those wonderful things that you just named, right? that you know them specs. You scoped out and it don't drive like you thought it should.
Starting point is 01:00:48 The suspension. The suspension ain't hitting right. I don't want to knock the suspension out of line. All that stuff and it's like shit. All that's starving and scar that I did. I'm the reason the suspension out of line. Chad, I was just playing. You see how they get me?
Starting point is 01:01:06 They'll be teaming that thing they slink tonight. Hey, that's a good way. That's a good one. That's a good comeback. That's a good comeback. But you know, I just think the thing, and it's frustrating because here's the guy, and he's looking at it, because he's like,
Starting point is 01:01:21 when you go to a historic franchise like the Celtics, and you go in and build it, you see those numbers up there. You dream of having your number up there. Yeah. Yes. Yes. And he's like,
Starting point is 01:01:37 he's thinking how do I get how do I get my number up there okay I do this I do X Y Z hey I'm become a good player help get us a couple of check get at least one you know I'm an all NBA selection
Starting point is 01:01:51 I'm an all star player I'm a fine okay maybe one day I'll get an opportunity if I have a family I can bring my wife and kids I can bring my grandkids and look at your daddy look at your papa I know up there yeah
Starting point is 01:02:05 and he's like y'all y'all have never never loved me as much as I've loved you sometimes that's the hardest yeah when love is not reciprocated yeah an iHeart radio experience
Starting point is 01:02:26 you end up with weekend gold tickets to lasso Montreal Thomas Rhett Mumford and sons here's my pride and here's my share John Party, Old Dominion, Carly Pierce, and more. And the prize gets even sweeter.
Starting point is 01:02:40 With flights from Porter Airlines, three nights at Residence Inn downtown Montreal, and $1,000 cash. Download the free Iheart radio app, listen to Pure Country for 10 minutes, and enter to win. Lasso, Montreal. Every day you listen is another chance to win. I love the sounds. The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football, at home.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great.
Starting point is 01:03:38 A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that.
Starting point is 01:03:54 As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with, Hoda Cotany. Okay, if you know me, you know this. I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy. So this podcast lets us uncover all of that together. We're going to have these meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people, like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges that she never saw coming.
Starting point is 01:04:39 I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartum depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me a belief that we all have one of those treasures inside of us. We just have to find it. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:05:12 It's a part of it. I'm so happy. Javier T-Torito Hernandez. Everyone sees me as a football player, but before anything else, I'm human. Every single day I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships, emotions, ever since I was born. And I still have so many questions.
Starting point is 01:05:31 Where do we come from? What happens after death? How do you deal with cancellation? Cristiano or Messi? Do aliens exist? What is love? Real Madrid or Varsa? From everyday and ordinary to the deep and extraordinary.
Starting point is 01:05:43 This isn't a normal podcast. Everything in here is a spontaneous. real and genuine. This podcast is like a deep talk with your closest friends where vulnerability comes out. Conspiracy theories end up on the table and goals and lessons are shared.
Starting point is 01:05:55 All in this life has an order perfect and everything is just. Wait me, I'm here to connect. We are here to connect The Chicharito. Oh, Javier El Chicharito Hernandez and together with IHA Radio we're going to make the ordinary
Starting point is 01:06:07 extraordinary, extraordinary. Stay close. It is a carac. Wow. Listen to learning to be human on IHard Radio, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
Starting point is 01:06:24 And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store. I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is,
Starting point is 01:06:44 you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever.
Starting point is 01:07:15 you get your podcasts. That hurt. It is, because he doesn't bother anybody. He, he, he's great in the community. And, like, and, and, and, and, and
Starting point is 01:07:32 they make it seem like the man out there trying to cause a revolution. Like, you try to call him uprider. You know what? He's an easy target because he's so vocal. You know, yes, for sure. He's so vocal. He's an easy, easy, easy target. Now, if he didn't say anything, if he was
Starting point is 01:07:48 quiet, it, you know, I mean, anything you, y'all say, especially the outside noise, you're probably going on one ear and out the other, but you say something about me, they know he's going to fire back. So what they, what they keep doing? Keep saying it. But I think the thing you know, he looks at it like, we seem to, we're the only, we're the only ones that have something to have something to complain about. I countenaparts, they never had to fight for anything. They had the right to vote. They had the right to get out of them.
Starting point is 01:08:18 They had the right to marry who they wanted. We had to fight for stuff like that. had the right to vote. We didn't have that. So he's looking at like, I got to fight. I've got to be the boys. And it, and to shut up and dribble only works when you're saying something that they don't like. We don't need to talk about what they are. But we know. Because I see, I see a lot of guys tweet stuff that they so, they never say shut up and dribble. They support it and they retweet it.
Starting point is 01:08:52 Yeah, this is unfortunate for J.B., man, because I can see, you know, obviously they came on short last year, but due to injury for real, because when J.T. came back, everybody had picked them to come out to East if we're just keeping the 100. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:09:11 Yeah, I believe they'd have been favorite to come out of the East. They'd have been favorite. Yeah. Yeah, they absolutely would have been favorite. Yeah, and it's like with that duo, bro, you ain't going to find, like, to be able to compete with the Knicks
Starting point is 01:09:23 in the Eastern Conference, It's going to be hard to do that. You get rid of this, man. Oh, yeah. I don't think that ain't happening. Because you're not getting Greek fruit now. You know what I mean? So whatever you bring over there, I'm going to keep it real.
Starting point is 01:09:35 I can't see him being better than J.B. But I also can't see it. I can't see Boston keeping Jalen Brown going through all this turmoil that he's going through right now. Name being in every damn conversation in the book every day. Like, if I'm him, I'm like, damn, they really don't mess with me like that. And we, you know what, guys, we use a lot of an analogy, be it man or woman. There's only so many times that you're going to hear about your partner stepping out before you move on. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:04 It's really that's, there got to be some true to it. He, and he knows it. He knows it. And I was talking on, on the net today. And it was like this and that. I said at the end of the day, Shannon, you know what he meant by what he said. It doesn't matter. what I think. It doesn't matter with Ocho or with Joe. What did the organization? How did they
Starting point is 01:10:28 perceive what he said this was his most fun year? How did they perceive it? Forget Shannon, forget Stephen A, forget anybody else that offered an analysis or critique of what he said. Forget all of that. What did the Celtics organization think about what he said? Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. It doesn't have. And people, try to make y'all give us far too much credit y'all kept talking about it and they traded the man man they don't listen to us they don't listen to us it only what what does your employer think about what you said or your actions he didn't have actions he said this was his most fun year i get what he said given the circumstances nobody had us to do this it was fun for me to go out there
Starting point is 01:11:24 and being a lead role because you didn't think I could lead. Y'all always told me that I was the second best player on the team, but I just showed you, even without the lead dog that you guys say Jason Tatum is, and Jason Tatum is a phenomenal player. He's a multiple time all pro, I mean, excuse me, all-N-BA, a multiple-time All-Star, two Olympics.
Starting point is 01:11:46 He's like, hold on. Y'all, y'all, y'all just blatantly disrespect me. Y'all have had two Olympic teams. I don't want a championship. I don't want an MVP. I don't want, Easter conference and a finals MVP, I've been an all-N-B-A and
Starting point is 01:11:59 All-Star, and I can't get on one of them. And we got guys that's on this thing, and ain't been one of those, let alone three. It's crazy, though. Yes. Yes. And I love, you know, I love Ocho,
Starting point is 01:12:16 where people say, man, if I was making X about a dollar, it wouldn't bother me. Your boss pay your salary. And then y'all get mad. You get mad. It's to be the same. Of course it does.
Starting point is 01:12:31 But see, they think, it's kind of like, because here's the thing, you have to look at it. Of course, Joe, if somebody said,
Starting point is 01:12:37 hey, oh, Joe, not a billion dollars. You're going to say, yeah, I'll let you say whatever you want to say about me for a billion dollars.
Starting point is 01:12:49 But you got to take it in the context of what you make now. You let's anybody talk to you any kind of way. It's the same thing. I said, well, when we had the conversation about LaBron,
Starting point is 01:12:58 I said, okay, you brought your food to work and your boss stored in the trash. You go like, oh, it's cool, I ain't really care about it anyway. I said, man, y'all need to stop line. Shoot me. Y'all get mad if you got a roommate and eat your food. So you really tell me you worked hard or you paid for something, you bring it,
Starting point is 01:13:19 they disregard it and you cool with it? I said, man, y'all don't know. I get it. Some of y'all don't like LeBron, but y'all got to stop lying. Ain't nobody gonna be okay with somebody throwing through their food away in the trash. If you're not, I know I'm not.
Starting point is 01:13:35 I ain't been to hold you. Nope. Yeah, no. And people, first of all, you don't play with people food. If you black, anybody that's black, you already know what don't you do? Play with people food. They food and money.
Starting point is 01:13:49 And money. And money. And money. And money. That's the top three. Hey, hey. Hey, I'm talking about we act like you are, Hey, when you're talking about don't mess with somebody,
Starting point is 01:13:59 you met with them three right there. Hey. Well, we act like we never, we never know you a day in our life. Don't play like that. Hey, you'll be six feet playing with the wrong one now. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:12 Cause you know, hey, I was meal prepping when it wasn't even in vogue. Boy, I wish somebody would. I wish some, I wish somebody don't eat my, boy, please. My brother said, boy, I'd act a pure, are pure damn food. Food.
Starting point is 01:14:32 Don't bother people stuff. First of all, don't bother people. But I just don't know, I don't know what it is about Jalen Brown. What is not to like? Because you heard all the stories. People didn't think you're going to be a good basketball player
Starting point is 01:14:46 because he was too smart. He was too interested in other things. So they say that's what the report said. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And you know that frowned upon, on? And Joe? What's that?
Starting point is 01:15:01 Oh, yeah. Having things you like, when you play a sport and you want of the best at said sport, having a life outside of that sport and having other things that you like, having other hobbies, is somewhat frowned upon a little bit. Yeah, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, you're right.
Starting point is 01:15:16 In this era that we're in, fellas, I mean, this is what it is. You know what I'm saying? Like, everybody live streaming, everybody got a platform that they can speak on nowadays. So it's a lot different than we're going. than what we're accustomed to. So, hey, you say something about a cat now? You best believe his hands comes to.
Starting point is 01:15:37 He's going to offer him or somebody they got a platform. Yeah. And get back at it. It's a different time now. It's a different time now, guys. Because a lot of times, guys would bite their tongue. I bet my tongue a lot. But I was like, you know what, hey, I'm here.
Starting point is 01:15:55 Let me deal my job. Hey, I ain't going to be here. I ain't going to be here forever and keep it moving. Yeah. Long as you ain't bothered my ish. Long as everybody keep their hands to themselves. We cool.
Starting point is 01:16:08 Right. No. We cool. Hey, all that. Talk as loud as you want to. Everybody keep their hands to itself. You ain't talking about nobody wife or somebody girlfriend and stuff like that. Hey, you don't bother people, ish.
Starting point is 01:16:25 Man, hey, I don't see if somebody get to fight you. Hey, he's going to take the man brush and brush his pubic hair. What? Huh? Hold on, his hair, wait, hold on, his brush. Come on, come on, come on. Come on, come on, huh. Come on, man.
Starting point is 01:16:41 Everybody don't play like that, right? That's what I try to tell people. People tell my, oh, you are, well, people don't play. See, they don't got to the point now, Joe. People play entirely too much. Yep. I grew up in a time, people didn't play at all. My girlfriend used to tell my brother now, boy, grown men don't play.
Starting point is 01:17:02 He was, he was, he was, he always, told us that. Yeah. Man, they play too much. Play, nah, man, I don't play like that. Yeah. I saw a dude about to get in the fight. You know the old saying, hey, man, how your,
Starting point is 01:17:20 how your wife and my kids? What? Yeah. Dude, Walter to the Barado. Say it again? Don't play with me like that. Say it again? Huh?
Starting point is 01:17:31 Wait, how you say it? How is your wife and my kids? Hey. Hmm. But everybody, But everybody, oh, you, you too, you too emotional, you too this. Y'all see, y'all, I don't know how y'all do. I don't, like I said, I really haven't been in the, you,
Starting point is 01:17:53 I go nine to five or I have to punch a clock or something like that. So I don't know what the etiquette is. I really don't. Mm-hmm. I really don't know what the etiquette is. All I know is that I was raised, if y'all want to say, raised, they say, you raised chicken, you're raised livestock. The way I was reared is that you leave people-ish,
Starting point is 01:18:14 and you leave people alone. If you do that, you won't have no problem. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I agree with you, man. I don't care enough. Man, you, hey, man, you heard such a, no, I didn't hear. And I don't care to hear. Is it feed me?
Starting point is 01:18:36 Is it financing me? Is it effing me? Come on now. Take your time, Pastor. Why not I care about all that then? It need to feed me, finance me, or F me before me before I care. Now, if he's doing one of those three, you might have my attention. Now, if you get all three of them, you got my undivided attention.
Starting point is 01:18:57 Hey, that's a good one. Yeah. You know what? At the end of the day, I think it's going to be a situation. The best thing for both parties. Oh, wait. Oh, it's got two. It's got two.
Starting point is 01:19:15 Where is that right now? It's got to separate. It's going to happen. It's going to happen. I don't like the fact that Jalen Brown's not in control of where he goes. No. You know, going from Boston, you would think and hope, even though he's won a chip already, he'd want to go somewhere he could at least contend.
Starting point is 01:19:35 I think it's hard for him to come back to Boston and have to look to these people in their faith. And they had to act like they really love him and want them to be around. Well, hell, you've been shopping me all damn summer. Judas. Come on, man God already knew who he was going to take them 20 pieces those shillings. Amen.
Starting point is 01:19:53 He knew that man kissed him. Jesus should have elbowed him right in his face. Yeah, no. Man, you look, I said, I look. And he's from the crib, so I'm always going to rule from anybody from the crib. Damn. Enough is enough now.
Starting point is 01:20:17 Yeah. This is what he said. Analytics nowadays are used to discredit and control narrative. Roll ball out and none of these guys better than me on both end who does work for. Nobody has won more combined regular season and playoff games since I entered the league 10 years ago. Analytics have our ruining games we play at AI hoops.
Starting point is 01:20:42 He ain't lie. Yeah. Hey, he got a point. He damn show ain't lie. But now you see why he's such an easy target, Joe? Yeah, but. So this keeps the storyline going on. All he's doing is adding fuel to the fire.
Starting point is 01:20:58 But he ain't lying, though, Joe. Oh, yeah. Oh, he's telling the truth. He's the basketball player. He understands. The analytic people, Joe, what they do? They bunch of numbers, they watch and stuff. They don't know what the hell they talk about.
Starting point is 01:21:11 Half the time they do, it works. Analytics, you know, it's changed. Analytics is one of the reasons why the game has changed now. And it looks is one of the reasons why the game is played the way it's played in different sports. It is. Man. Basketball. Football.
Starting point is 01:21:26 They're going for it on fourth and 20. What analytics said, we got it. And if we crossed the 40-R line, it might be fourth of 15, but it's a chance we can get it. Man, damn analytics. Yeah. Those analytics are created by people that couldn't actually play the game. So I got to find a way to become involved in the game, Mocho. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:48 So you're saying a three-pointer and a lay-up or a dunk, those are the best shots in the game. Damn that. That's a damn lie. You can't tell me, oh, because they're shooting twos and we shooting threes. We're supposed to win. Damn that. You look at these finals.
Starting point is 01:22:04 The game was dominated in between the three-point line. You know, and they're 15 to 17-foot area, bro. You know what I mean? Well, you had a game-winning basket, tough shot makers, tough shot takers. That's where the game is won. Always. It's always been like that. But they didn't got so high and mighty on these damn three-pointers and a lob threat, a dunk, a layup.
Starting point is 01:22:26 It's like, bro, you're trying to take away the best part of the game, which magicians work at. You know what I mean? When you watch guys, like, when Kobe used to play, you watch Kyrie, how these guys operate in the mid-range, bro. Shea, how they able to get the – come on, man. Yeah, hey, Ocho, know how to get to a spot. Now they want you – Joe, not did somebody run you off the three-point line. they want you to let him go by and then back back past the three point line to shoot it.
Starting point is 01:22:51 Right, when you got a clean wide over. I got a, I got a walking 15 footer. Now you want me to let him fly by and step back the 22 or 23. Man, get out of my face. And you know who need to be in charge of analytics? Who? Based on depending on the sport,
Starting point is 01:23:08 people that actually played the sport. People that actually play the sport need to be the ones in charge of analytics. Man. that understand the game. They're getting astrophysics and they're getting mechanical engineering. They're getting all these guys.
Starting point is 01:23:21 They don't know nothing about it. You see, you see what? Don't know nothing about it. What you think AI is? Artificial intelligence. They're trying to do. They try to put everything.
Starting point is 01:23:34 They try to everything. It's like, okay, we're going to plug, we can just put this in, and it'll give us out what we should do. Right. There's only one AI, Alan Avison. The Memphis Grimm.
Starting point is 01:23:50 It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for. Why do I watch the walk up? That's like asking me, why do I breed? And it's beautiful. The guys are young and cute and fit. It's not just a game. It's your culture.

I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.
