Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap
as you watch the Baltimore Ravens run their record to 3 and 5 with a 286 victory over the Miami Guppies who fall to 2 and 7.
No one should be surprised by this, given how well Lamar Jackson has played against the dolphins,
why would you pick against them with him in the starting lineup playing that team?
But nevertheless, my partner did pick the guppies and he's wrong again.
Y'all know who I am.
I'm your favorite uncle Shannon Sharp, and he is my partner and co-host.

media and my clothing company 84 with 84 being spelled out that link is pinned in the chat we have
kamani vadell joining us and icewear a vessel joining us a little later today little to later tonight
excuse me but the game that you just watched lamar jackson threw for four touchdowns three went
the tight ends uh mark andrews caught two um cola called another one and then he found scrambled
and found rashad bateman on another touchdown der her Henry 19 rushes
119 yards back to being the Derek Henry that we all know and love.
But I thought Lamar Jackson in four weeks, five weeks of his absence,
he came back in front of all really, really well tonight.
18 of 23, 204 yards, four touchdowns, no interception.
He was sacked two times,
but the Ravens didn't turn the ball over,
and they forced the dolphins to turn it over.
And when you have a situation like that,
a team like Baltimore,
you cannot turn the ball over against them and give them short fields
because bad things going to happen with that quarter.
back in that running back.
And I thought overall as a team, Ocho,
I thought they played really well,
but I thought Lamar Jackson was really crisp in his return.
Yeah, the fact that he was able to miss as many games as he did
to come back and look like he never missed the beat.
He was efficient in the pocket,
extending plays, you know, hitting tight ends.
The play calling was really good.
I was curious to see when he had to scramble,
when he had to move and make sudden movements
and be twitchy, would it affect him?
Would he still be able to?
he wasn't trying to do that on Joe
he wasn't trying to do no twitching
because there are some times he could have scrambled
up the middle he's like nah I'm good
but you can tell he was comfortable
when he did have to take off and run
he was able to do so and so that lets me
know his hand finger's good they have what
almost 10 days off where he can rest
and get itself back fully
healthy all the way to 100%
because you understand that 85 90%
Lamar Jackson is still
very very good quarterback still top
three in the NFL right now
outside that i'm upset and and i have why are you upset i have to i have to stop doing this chat
and this this this is for y'all i just want to apologize to all the raven's fans that are
that are in the chat i have to do something on i have to stop bed with my heart i i have to
i've been told you that i got to stop better with my heart i i have to you know start using my mind
and i understanding where teams are now i i was i was i was i was i was fooled by last week before
by the Dolphins and thinking that momentum would carry on into this week
was why I was so high in regard to thinking that they would win this game
with Lamar Jackson coming back even though his first game even though he's played
well against the Dolphins but he was no he's played great no other quarterback has
ever played this well against an opponent like he's played but I'm saying but he had
missed game so I thought he'd been maybe a little rusty maybe the maybe the play call
the wind have been is is as efficient as he looked at night maybe the running game
might not have been good.
We haven't seen Derek Curry run the ball like this tonight as of the date yet, you know,
this season.
So I thought, you know, the chances might have been in the Dolphins favor.
If they can perform, not turn the ball over, and Tua can be the tool he was when they played
a line of Falcons last week.
You know, in the words of a very good friend of mine, sweet Jesus, my dog, brother McKinney,
I just, I don't know what else to do.
And then from now on for the rest of the season
I will be betting with common sense
and choosing teams that I like
that I like
and know we're going to win the game, no matter
what? You don't
know, but you know the Guppie
weren't going to win. You are there betting on Twitter
making us look back. Well,
technically it's my team,
and when your Ravens play, well, they're not
your Ravens. You was on there for two weeks, but when you're
Bronk...
Listen, when you're Bronk,
when you... Hey, when you're
When your Broncos play, when your Broncos play, that's your team and you bet with them regards to who they're playing.
When my Bengals play, I bet with them regards to what I'm playing.
When the Dolphins play, you should be with New England.
Stay with me a little bit, right?
Okay.
When the dolphins play, people need to understand.
I am from Miami.
I was born in Dade County.
I've come from a beautiful place.
It's like the Caribbean.
It's called Liberty City.
I grew up in the 40s.
All my life.
Born in 1968, the Jackson Warrior Hospital.
That is with my love for the Dolphins come from
because that's all I knew growing up at the child.
So I still try to have that same legions towards.
Unlearned.
Huh?
Unlearned.
I know, it's hard, though.
It's hard.
You see that, don't you?
I didn't pick that up from Dick Sporting good.
I didn't order that from NFL shop.com.
I'm a raven.
Oh, you played there for, you played there for two years.
Two years.
Two years.
Won five playoff games.
Is that good?
It's all right.
I mean, y'all won five playoff game because it's a defense.
Not the offense.
It don't matter.
Y'all won five playoffs because of that defense.
I tell you what, I didn't get, I didn't win the Super Bowl MVP, but I guarantee you,
my ring got just as many diamonds as Ray Lewis's.
I guarantee you.
I got, I got a ring to it.
My jersey number 82 got a Super Bowl patch that says
Super Bowl X X, X, X, Numa, 5V,
which means Super Bowl 35.
So I don't know what you're talking.
Listen, listen, the cars you was dealt, that was for you.
The cars I was dealt, I wasn't able to go to no Super Bowl.
I wasn't able to host no trophy.
I wasn't able to get no ring.
I did all I could to get there, you know.
Go ahead, carry on.
That's all I do, I can do to get there, you know,
and the words of my good brother on Instagram,
Jay McKinney on Sweet Jesus.
I did my job, the best of my ability.
It's a team game.
I think I held up my end of the bargain.
You hear me?
Yeah, I think I held up my end of the bargain.
You putting that up there like, that's the real thing.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, Ocho.
That's not the real.
That's not the real.
That's not a real thing.
Ocho.
It could be whatever.
I got it.
You ain't the only one guy.
Hold on.
Hey, let me tell you ain't the only one got trophies.
I might not have been able to get a trophy on the field,
but I'm getting them off the field.
Huh?
What's you saying?
What's you trying to do?
I mean, hold on.
What you're trying to do?
I mean, hey, hey, talk nice to me, now.
Talk, talk nice to me.
Hey, hey, um, some of the mind, too, now.
No, no, there, none of me yours.
Hey, some of the mind over that, too, now.
Hey, hey, chat.
You got yours.
Hey, chat, y'all see my trophies.
And you see my plaques?
You see my plaques?
Man, look at me.
Hey, chat, y'all see my plaques in my nightcap sign?
Hey, with all these springs on, Cho,
they think I hijacked the 18 wheeler.
With all these springs, I got.
You see all these springs?
They're like I hijacked the 18 wailer.
Timeout, timeout, time out.
Time out.
How you got all the goddamn awards, man?
Wow, whoa.
Time out.
Time out.
I only got two awards, man.
What you mean?
How I got all these awards?
How do you get awards?
You win them.
Yeah, but when are you going to sit me my star?
You got yours.
You got like, you got like 32 awards and I got two.
Well.
Go,
find the words you had last year the one you took off stage i don't know what happened to you you know
what hey man um what hey can you hear me yeah man sis took them man she ain't she ain't going to
give me them oh wow don't you what you want to give me some of them we we don't replace awards
hey hey let me tell you something let me what i just bought on you know what i got out there right
you hear me what you got for saturday show we have saturday show i got some flowed
that's gonna go right under the plaques.
I got like four.
Yeah.
I got four floating shells, right?
And I got them staggered a little bit so I could put all my trophies on.
Hey, so, hey, you see that?
I need, I need, I need, I need that NAACP.
Tadda.
I need, I need two of them.
You hear me?
Goodness gracious, the capers.
Where the cash at?
What a fash at.
Hey, um.
Oh.
I would like to decorate my game room so I could be professional.
So what they got, hold on, what's that got to do with me want to decorate?
Because you have, you have, you have, you have all the awards.
I thought this was a team effort.
This was, this was done too.
It was two people that did this.
Well, she took all your awards, bomb back on.
Hey, see, I need, where is that right there?
You got, you got two of these.
Where they at?
In the mail.
I want to put them up today.
I want to put them up tomorrow.
They won't be here tomorrow.
The good thing, I got good news like I've got bad news.
The good news is you got two of them coming.
The bad news, I got four of them coming.
Hey, hey, I just, listen, I want to decorate my game room, so I need to, I need to.
I'm going to let, Ocho, you got the awards.
I can't help it that you let somebody, you.
gifted them to someone.
Listen, I had, I had, listen, sometimes I was in, I was in a hurry.
I had to, I had to go.
Well, I don't know what you want me to tell, Yocho.
Man, look at all these springs.
Hey, look like this 18 Wheeler.
Hey, if y'all see an 18 wheeler side to roll where they got no springs on it,
there to go right there.
Hey, I just, I just, I want to thank God, giving me the opportunity.
after going.
What about your gutfuss?
What about your gutfell?
Hey, we look good at the first quarter.
I thought it was going to be a good game.
Honestly, we moved.
Hey, it's a four-quarter game.
I'm saying the fact that we moved the ball up and down the field.
We got in the red zone maybe four, maybe five times.
We were only able to get three points out of that.
And I'm like, I just don't know.
We didn't have enough playmakers.
We had both Washington.
We had Taj and Malik.
No, turn them all over and give the ball back to the radio.
The way y'all was moving,
it looked like y'all had George out there, too.
Washington, that is.
Yeah, it was bad.
And obviously, when you're playing a team,
when you're playing a team like the Baltimore Ravens'unk,
you've got to be as perfect as possible.
You've got to minimize the turnovers
because all you're doing is hurting yourself.
And I heard a great quote while I was watching the game
with Michael McDaniels said,
you know, you don't want to have to play the Ravens
and have to play against yourself.
You know, we have to play against yourself as well,
making mistakes.
And listen, the Ravens hop on everything.
And they capitalize on it.
And, you know, you know, the end scored to the game
a result of, you know, just shooting yourself in the foot
by the Dolphins.
Yeah, I don't know.
Damn, man.
Put the back to you.
Damn.
Man, they're going to take me all back.
Keep talking, though, Joe.
Anyway, chat, I mean, like, and I'm sure we have a lot of Raven fans
in the chat, you know, I meant no ill, no ill, no harm.
He meant ill will.
I'm just going for my team.
I'm going for my home team.
And, you know, I hope you all accept my apology.
I love you.
I love you, you know, on sweet knees.
You know how I feel about you, you know.
And that's pretty much it.
And on the next week.
On the next week.
That's how I'm feeling.
Ravens.
Matter of fact, I got to apologize.
I got eight fun.
Bingles and guppies.
Flop.
Ravens, flop, guppies and bingles, flop.
I got to apologize, the butter, too.
But I know you're going to see this butter.
You know, I was all on your Twitter.
I was trolling you like y'all was, like y'all was going to lose.
So I want to apologize to you.
Dan Olavsky, I got you a little $100.
I'm going to see you that.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, time out.
How you going to, see, you see how he did it?

saying the man been on me two years bet the white man tonight white man getting money

and I would be able to see you that $59,100, everybody hurting out here right now,
including myself.

It ain't, it ain't the same.
It ain't found a good deal in a long time.
And who you tell him, my homeboy, my home boy, who I told you can get the dogs for you,
you know, the dogs you spend like 10,000, my homeboy, uh, Jojo, he ain't got, he got nothing,
boy, he's short.
You got to tell me nothing.
He's rough out here right now, bro.
I mean, I used to get, I used to get, hey,
Before I go into Barbershop, man, that creed, come on.

Hey, man, hey, I'm going to do your solid.
I'm going to give you this right here.
Hey, time's hard.
I can show you that 5900.
Listen, if I seen you 5900, it's going to set me back a little bit.
Well, if it set you back, that means I get to move forward.
That's what happens sometimes.
Ocho, sometimes you've got to plan a treat and realize the shade you're not going to be able to enjoy it from that trip.
But you got to understand that.
You know, I got a kid.
They got to take care of now.
You heard me?
Me too.
Your kids grown.
You know, mine little.
You know, hey.
They still eat.
They still need daddy, love, carry, and money.
Think about a little french fried cha-cha and Kennedy.
Yeah.
They love pretty fake.
Hey, French fried mama rolling.
Making big bucks.
No whammies.
The Big Take podcast from Bloomberg News dives deep into one big global business story every weekday.
A shutdown means we don't get the data, but it also means for President Trump
that there's no chance of bad news on the labor market.
What does a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich reveal about the economy?
Our breakfast foods are consistent consumer staples,
and so they sort of become outsize indicators of inflation.
What's behind Elon Musk's trillion-dollar payout?
There's a sort of concerted effort to message that Musk is coming back.
He's putting politics aside.
He's left the White House.
And what can the PCE tell you that the CPI can't?
CPI tries to measure out-of-pocket.
costs that consumers are paying for things, whereas the PCE index that the Fed targets is a little
bit broader of a measure.

Six foot two, 185 pounds senior, Shannon Sharp.
Hey, man, Godly, man.
Just, hey, just thinking about, hey, not that you know,
back to the game, though, just think about that.
What?
Like, I, like, I don't understand the NFL, man.
How you can come on.
What don't you understand?
Maybe I can help you.
How the Dolphin come off such a great, a great dominating performance,
you know, 30 to nine against the Atlanta Falcons,
the Atlanta are a team.
They're a good team.
And for Tua to look that way, the defense to play well,
offense, when they were able to move the ball,
they were to put up points,
something that they struggled to do,
and then to come out tonight and lay an egg.
You know, the first court, I'm like, oh, yes,
oh, this is going to be a game.
And I'm like, man, what the hell?
Oh, see, let me ask you a question.
If you hadn't seen Atlanta, let's just say, okay,
fact, we're not going to look at anything in the vacuum.
Because if you look at it in a vacuum,
you just look at Atlanta,
it okay. But what about prior to Atlanta? So if we had taken Atlanta out of the equation
and we looked at everything that they had done up until Atlanta, skip over Atlanta, what would
you have seen? They were definitely losing that. They were definitely. I'm just going to be honest
with you. And I was, I was bet with my heart, but I was bet my heart with confidence based on
that performance. I'm like, oh, ain't no way in hell. As bad as the, as bad as the Raven
defense has been this year, ain't no hell isn't going to be the Dolphins. I'm talking about. I,
But you like the Dolphins got the Chiefs offense
or the Lions offense
or or or or or or a Philly or Buffalo or somebody.
They're not known for no op.
I mean, I know what you mean they could move the ball though.
They did it tonight.
They were able to move the ball.
They were able to move the ball
and be efficient, run the ball when they need to.
Devon A. Chan, catching out the backfield.
He's a dupe.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
He's just like, I don't know, man.
True be told, he's their best player.
I know two of the quarterback.
chanded their best player you think so it just it just mean yeah he's small I get
which I get these small locho but he can catch it he can run it he can run between
the tackles he got crazy speed that if he hit a scene he can hit his head on the
goal pole he's a solid receive out of the back field he he has more speed in
Kamara and Krista McCaffrey but he's every bit of elusive and you can blind him
up out wide you can put him in the slot and he gets his hand on the
boy, hey, he'll threaten to go the whole way.
It's just that, you know, I just don't know how far you can go with Tua.
I just don't.
They make dumb mistakes.
They got it, they got it fourth and one, and they're about to go for it,
and the right tackle gets a procedure.
I'm like, bro, what are you doing?
We kill it ourselves.
Now you've got to kick a field goal.
Everybody, everybody was yelling at him coming out of the field,
and rightfully so.
I just don't get it, bro.
You home.
You are home.
It's not like you're on the road
and it's crowd noise. You're home.
You know the snap count.
It's just, it's stuff like that.
They've got to do,
they're going to have to tear this thing down
and build it back up, Ocho.
Whoa, whoa.
They got some pieces.
I'm not so sure Phillips.
Everybody could use a Phillips.
Bradley Chubb, people don't, you know,
try to take pieces.
You might as well just,
sell off
and then try to get stuff
and then go into the draft
and build this thing
back up. Another thing, now that you mentioned the fact
them tearing it down and building it back up,
you've been right about every coast that was probably
going to lose their job. You've been right about
every coach that might have been on the hot seat
and you're going to get fired. You've been right about
every player. And you said,
we're going to get paid. They got paid.
Oh, Hutchinson. So we're going
going to talk about Hutch in a minute.
Are you saying Mike McDaniels,
will he make it throughout the entire season
or if they continue to lose?
Will they, will they let him
I'm trying to think I know John
Emery is the tight ends coach he's been a head coach in this league
he comes from that Shanahan that Shanahan tree so I'm not surprised
that he's on the staff with Mike McDaniel he's been a head coach
and I think he was at Colorado which is his alma mater
Weaver is the defensive coordinator I don't think he's ever held
a head coaching position I think it's 50-50 that he leaves
Before the season, ain't no question of my mind.
He's gone after the season.
No question whatsoever.
And I think the thing is, Ocho, Cho, is that you start selling, you know,
hey, you just start selling pieces off.
Because it's not going to work in its current condition.
And in its current condition, the dolphins are not equipped.
They don't have enough.
The quarterback is not, he can't elevate.
You have to elevate him.
And when A. Chan is running wild, when Tyreek was healthy and going crazy,
and when water was growing crazy,
Tua looked really, really good.
But he doesn't possess the skill set
to elevate other people like said,
okay, he made, he was good,
but he made him better.
That's not what he did.
That's not what happened.
Think about what you just said.
You said, Tua is not the kind of quarterback
that can elevate his plate
when he doesn't have the type of talent around him
that can elevate his.
But how many quarterbacks in the NFL are like that?
It's maybe four or five that elevate.
The ones that make 50 million should be able to do that.
Hold on, Ocho.
Mac McDaniel is firmly up in the airport Ian Rappapur
on the hot seat, as they say.
I do not sense anything imminent from owner Stephen Rawls
who likes him, believes in him, and has invested in him.
But here's how McDaniel is going to be judged.
How do the players respond?
What is it like in the locker room?
Do they keep playing for him or do they not,
and can't you see it?
There's going to be determined.
That's going to determine whether he keeps his job.
I just don't see it.
Even if they play hard, Ocho, I don't see how I coach.
You missed the playoffs last year.
You go and they got two games, so they're nine games,
so they got eight games left.
Let's just say for the sake of argument,
they go four and four in those games, Ocho.
That's six wins.
That's six and eleven after the season that you had last year.
Well, do you factor in the injuries,
you know, the loss of Tyreek?
Do you factor in that, no, or?
yeah there are a lot of teams that got injuries injuries injuries are a part of it the good team
overcome those injuries you a remember rachie rice went down last year my homes they make no
excuse right tyreek leaves he didn't make no excuse uh uh uh what you call them go out
a j brown is out jela hurst doesn't make an excuse that was playing without cd he didn't
making the excuse and look i get it like you but injuries are a part of this and you factored those
in so that's why you try to do the best job you can of fielding a 53 man team you just don't
look at it okay well he's going to start but you also have to look at what happens if he goes down
will we be able to keep this thing afloat two weeks three weeks four weeks that's the end of the key i'm
talking about your wire receiver running back quarterback something like that hey grill hell i think
Gris on the hot seat too.
You got rid of Brian Flores.
You hired Josh McDaniels.
Josh McDaniels, excuse me, Mike McDaniel.
Mike McDaniel.
Excuse me, Chad.
I mean,
Ocho, I don't know if you notice.
They're not close to Buffalo.
They're not close to New England.
Think about it.
Josh Allen got another decade.
Drake May got a decade plus.
Or how close are you to them?
you're fighting with the jets to try to stay out of last place
to try to stay out of the summer because you're not close to buffalo and you're not close
to new England when you ask how close we are to buffalo
how close we are to the winger most people that understand the game of football
they say that we're a quarterback away we're yeah but here's the thing
Ocho, you got a quarterback that you gave
$250 million to.
I mean, actually, you had no choice.
There weren't no other options.
I agree 100%.
But what's the likelihood
of, now you're going to have to go in the draft,
but you're going to have to find one.
Develop him because you're not going to get one in free agency.
Ain't nobody letting no, I mean,
I'm trying to think who, Anthony Richardson.
No, you're not going that route.
So I'm trying to think who you could get in free agency.
What quarterback is going to be available in free agency?
You want first cousins?
Whoa.
Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Hold on, man.
Are you just put a smile on my face a little bit, man?
He can't move, Ocho.
He was already a statue, so he can move less now.
Listen, I know one thing I know what he can do.
I know we can deliver that ball like Amazon.
I know we could deliver that ball like FedEx and UPS.
But anytime it's inclement weather, what happens?
My package ain't there when they said it would be.
I mean, that's what you just said just there,
has been hunting a dolphin since the 80s.
And one more thing.
You've got to realize Cousins for the last decade plus has been indoor weather.
What do they play at in Buffalo?
Is that indoor?
It's cold.
What about New England?
It gets a little chilly.
What about New York?
Yeah, yeah, they get a little chilly there.
So are you sure you want to be a guy that's getting on up in age
that didn't have the ability to move before, can move even less now?
Is that what you wanted to hell?
Ah.
You're probably better off, Ocho.
If I'm going to scrap it, I'm going bare bones and build it back up.
Listen, going bare bones and building it back up,
based on what I've seen so far,
that's out there, the options,
the answer ain't out there.
We walk college football.
The answer is down.
If they can't elevate their teams
and stand out and pop out on film
and pop out on tape right now,
they're not going to do it there
because they don't have the weapons
or the right situation offensively
for it to happen.
We can just, you can plug somebody in there
and they can just go.
you got you got to be him to go playing that offense and make a difference yes but look you
had an opportunity the first two years you had a healthy reek and for the most part waddle you
had a chain you stumbled on a chance and you didn't get it done you later you you started
faltering down the stretch and that's what happened so you started faltering down the stretch
and then you mess around and you have to go to kansas city knowing what
they represent nor what that place is like
to play in the playoffs, and it's 10 below zero.
It was cold, boy.
It was cold.
I mean, so cold, the Greyhound got inside the bus.
He was on the bus, Ocho, drive.
They were cold.
She, I'm getting one of these seats.
My man, I, they got to, and I know it's hard,
and I know Dauphin's fans like that.
They got the longest tenure without winning a playoff game,
24 seasons.
Yeah.
24 seasons.
24.
That's crazy.
I just don't see it.
I just don't see it.

A shutdown means we don't get the data,
but it also means for President Trump
that there's no chance of bad news
on the labor market.
What does a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich,
reveal about the economy?
Our breakfast foods,
are consistent consumer staples, and so they sort of become outsize indicators of inflation.
What's behind Elon Musk's trillion dollar payout?
There's a sort of concerted effort to message that Musk is coming back. He's putting politics
aside. He's left the White House. And what can the PCE tell you that the CPI can't?
CPI tries to measure out-of-pocket costs that consumers are paying for things, whereas the
PCE index that the Fed targets is a little bit broader of a measure.

Uh-oh, Ocho, the Eagles are reportedly interested in a potential blockbuster trade
involving star pass rusher, Miles Garrett.
According to Yahoo Sports, Charles Robinson,
I've heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people
and other teams that are clearly on the phones
that Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot at the Miles Garrett,
that Howard Roseman would give up like three first-round picks
and a player.
You know what?
I think they'd probably be willing to give up three first-round picks
and probably Jordan Davis.
or one of those superstar, you know, one of those young players,
I don't think they'd be willing to give up Carter,
but I think they'd be willing to give up Davis.
But it's going to take three first rounds.
Absolutely, and it's damn well worth it.
One thing about Harry Rosen on,
if you watch the way he maneuver them,
the way he conducts business,
when it comes to getting players and building the team,
building the roster, you know,
and obviously right now,
the main thing is the main thing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite what everybody's talking about,
they're trying to go back and repeat on.
And they try to go back and repeat
And goddamn Harry Roseman
Is pushing all his chips in
On the table
I know what I need
I know a piece can help us
And that's going to get
God damn
What happened?
What happened with that trade
Through three first round picks
And the player
What if they want A.J. Brown
In exchange.
Hey,
They won't,
You can have him.
What?
Yes.
Because the way I look at it,
Ocho, if I get him
and I'm the Philadelphia Eagles that I believe I can beat,
where are we going to be picking, the bottom half?
You're going to get somewhere between 28 and 32.
We're not going to be in the top 10,
so it's not going to haunt us.
It's not going to hurt us.
See, now you mess around and you picking in the top 10 a la Chicago.
Who is that?
No, Carolina.
Remember Carolina?
One of the first pick?
And the next year, boom.
That pick that you gave up is Caleb Williams.
Yeah.
And honestly, me, just thinking about it,
the only thing that makes sense,
okay, you're giving us three first round picks,
and we need something of equal value
if we're letting, if we're letting up.
But I wouldn't give up both, though, Ocho.
I would give up three first round picks.
You don't get AJ and Carter,
or AJ and, and right.
You can get, you can get AJ.
You know what?
I might be willing to give up Carter.
and keep Jordan Davis.
No, no, absolutely not.
I would know.
I'm going the opposite way.
And it might not be anybody defensively.
With all the smoke, with all the talking,
you know, they might let sticks go.
Because I think that's the value.
Who, Devante?
No, I say sticks.
I mean, I'm 11.
Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I can see that.
But I think, Ocho, Carter hadn't been the same player in the injuries.
He wasn't in shape like he was supposed to.
See, teams factored that in.
Ocho, your kid's 24.
So if he's not in shape at 24, what makes me think he's going to be in shape at 26, 27, 28?
And now, Ocho, I got to get a big car, I got to put a big contract on the table.
Now he's going to want 30, 32, 33, 34 million.
Am I willing?
is that someone I can trust to invest that kind of money in.
I already know what I'm going to get at Miles Garrett.
I'm cool with that.
I already know.
Miles Gary's going to play like he's broke
and he's one of the highest played defensive players in football.
So I'm not every worried about him being in shape.
Now I've got to worry about him speeding a little bit.
Hey, damn, my, slow it down.
Damn, bro.
But, hey, I'm sure they've had,
I think Andrew Barry has had a conversation with him.
I think he's got like six speeding tickets,
a couple of them excess of 100 miles.
an hour, that's something that he needs to work on.
But I don't have to worry about him
when it comes to being in condition and being
him playing hard. I don't have to light a
fire up on it. Oh, Cho,
if I pay you that kind of money, Ocho, I don't
need to give you no pep talk.
I don't need to say, come on, son, we need it
today. What?
I need you to say, hey, son,
I don't need you can't practice today.
Because I don't want you to hurt
nobody.
That's how it should be.
Look, all we can go by is Ocho, by body language, what's being said.
Something is going on that A.J. doesn't seem happy.
He doesn't feel like he's getting the targets that.
Because he's, Ocho, he's looking at a, uh, uh, uh, uh, one, uh, uh, up in Cincinnati.
That man got 42 targets.
I haven't got 42 targets all year.
This man got 42 targets in two games.
You know, it's different.
He's looking at Pookew.
He's looking at Jetta.
He's looking at all these guys
and he says, I'm a number one.
And I see number ones,
they get their targets.
They get seven,
eight,
ten targets a game.
I get three or four,
and I'm supposed to be okay with that.
Yeah,
when you're supposed to be okay with that
when you're winning.
And that's what everybody says.
But you've got to be careful
what you wish for,
because you got to think.
But you got to tell me.
Think about the situation.
Trade deadline ends what?
The fourth?
November 4th.
So Tuesday.
Tuesday at 4.
4 o'clock Eastern.
And you got to be careful what you wish for
because you're coming from a perfect situation
and what happens if you end up in Cleveland?
Ooh.
You have shit.
Because there's inconsistent play
at the quarterback position.
Yeah.
I think if you put AJ Brown in that system,
now I think they will put you in position
to be able to get 42 goddamn catch his game.
But who can get it to him?
You trusted, you trusted,
No, no, no, no, no.
It takes a veteran quarterback to target somebody 23 times.
And the guy called, what did he catch?
Like 16 of them?
He got targeted, what, 19 times?
He caught 12 of them.
Everybody doesn't know how to do that.
But the thing that I love most about the Eagles,
and I love this about the Lions.
is that not only are they developing players,
they're not afraid to go get somebody
that they feel that can really help them get to that.
You see, you look at, and, uh, where it's, uh,
oh, we're going to talk about it a little like,
I'll touch it right now.
You look at Detroit.
They say, man, we need, look, Matthew Stafford,
he wants to go, blah, okay, we'll make a trade.
Okay, Rams.
Give us two first rounders and Jerry golf.
Now they go get Penae Soo.
They get Jemir Gibbs.
Now they get,
Jay Mo. They get
Ammon Ross A. Brown. They get A.
Hutchinson. And guess
what they've done, Ocho? We drafted them,
we developed them. We paid them.
Look at the money that they
paid all these guys. You see four
years, 212, 4 years
180, 4 years 120,
4 years 112, 4
years 93. You see
a real current thing? Guys know
now, if I come here and I work
my butt off, I'm going to get paid.
Ain't no deal-y-dally-dallet around, ain't playing
no mind games and the buck stops
with me on my desk and don't nobody
get this and that ain't about no egos
kudos to Brad Holmes, the general
manager. And also kudos to him
for drafting too, for drafting
well.
Brad Holmes, that's him. Sometimes you draft players
and hope they pan out and they actually
don't pan out. But it's like
everyone they drafted
to date, it always just seemed to pan out
which is why they've been able to pay players
and develop them and
they get the money that they get.
Because Kirby Joe.
Yeah, they drafted really well, man.
You know, I mean, they've done a great job.
You look at that D line.
You look at those linebackers, Campbell,
and you look at what's the big D lineman that just came back.
They've done a great job of identifying a player that fits their system.
You know, Coach Belichick used to take a lot of criticism for guys like,
who is this guy?
But Coach Belichick knew what he was looking for.
He's looking for two-gap defensive linemen.
You're not going to get no sacks.
Remember Chris Long left.
He said, yeah, it's fun to win.
But I want to be a player.
I just don't want to hold up so the linebackers can make plays.
My job is a defensive, as an edge rush, excuse me, chat.
I want to hunt the quarterback.
I don't want to just sit on the porch and bark.
Let me hunt.
And so you identify the player that's going to fit the system,
a player that personality-wise will fit your system
because it don't do any good if the guy fits the system,
but he's a jackass.
you have to identify that you identify that you do your homework now you're going to miss some
because sometimes guys can fool you absolutely but uh i just love what they do through the first eight
weeks of the season the colts and daniel jones have been the biggest surprise when indy sign jones
this off season he was widely viewed as another option behind 2023 number four pick
anthony richards but jonathan taylor realized the job with jones after the first practice
when he first got in the training camp and he called check that's in the playbook but if you've been here one of those checks that's like oh yeah we call that sometimes the fact that he called it is like did this guy have the playbook six months ago that's what i understood oh okay his level of preparation is different for him to come in day one day two and make that call make that check he's been studying it's day one of installed and he's already that far ahead i'm like this guy is
legit yes sir i don't know how i'm going to ask you i know how i took that i know how i took that
he didn't say it he he from praise but that was a i think that was a shot at the uh go ahead but
you go ahead what you think i think players don't intend to take shots at other individuals
that play the same position when praising another i think just praising the first praising the
fact that Daniel Jones was so well-informed with the offense to have already been there.
To know it, the way to know it, the ends and outs and the nuances of it, after just getting there,
it's like, well, God, Lee, we also have to understand what Daniel Jones is fighting for.
He's fighting for a job, an opportunity to start after leaving somewhere, it just didn't work.
And maybe this could have been a good thing for Anthony Richards in the seat.
okay now i have a better understanding or what i need to do the way to conduct myself not only
as a pro but as quarterback number one well uh was quarterback number one of a team this is the
stuff i needed to do make sure i succeeded not just in the classroom not just in practice but the
results of doing so and putting the work in is going to show up on sundays where it mattered most
potentially trying to take a swipe at Anthony Richardson.
He was heaping praise, but in the process of heaping praise,
people are going to look like, well, damn.
He just got there a month ago,
and you got a quarterback that's been there for two years,
and he never did anything like this,
and he had the playbook.
So that's the thing, no, Ocho.
No, was he out there trying to say, well, hey,
we've heard a story.
He used the first elite, first year,
or used the last end, the first out.
They benched it for a reason.
but that's what I mean the quarterback the preparation has to be so intense and if you
and a lot of times that's why they go ahead and get married because they like I can't be out
there I need to be home I need to be in front of this projector and I need to I want an iPad
not Ocho and I need to be going through and I need my mind focused on how I need home and so
they're going over and over and over I told you from day one and once I saw what he was getting
paid. I said, well, he's going to be started.
I'm not, I'm not even sure when I saw that
too. Obviously, it's just having common sense and understanding
the game, understanding the business at that.
Yep.
Dan, it's what about quarterback competition.
What I didn't understand if you got a project, okay,
somebody say you got a project car or you got a project home.
Oh, Joe, you don't try to drive the car. You say you got to fix
up, you got a project. It's going to take work. It's going to take
you six months it's going to take you a year to get it operational you got a project home
you like oh man i got this home i bought this home but i'm going to fix it up you don't try to live
in it you said this guy was a project he had immense talent and he does and you start him
what changed bait just just go back and look at his tape from high school look at his tape
from college and you tell me this man should have been a starter from day one
No, Ocho, no.
You did him a huge disservice.
Can he go somewhere?
It's going to take, I mean, he's got some,
he needs to go get with someone to understand mechanics
and throwing everything.
You can't be throwing the football like you're trying to throw it through a hurricane.
Because nothing has touch.
Everything is 100 miles an hour.
Shallow cross is throwing like he's throwing a far cross or deep over.
No, bro.
and look give Daniel Jones credit he's came he's come in and like you said the situation
didn't work out in in New York he had to sit the bench in in Minnesota but he got an
opportunity and he says if I get another opportunity you got to take advantage of it because
I'm not letting you're not going to get too many not not to be a starter no not to say okay
this is my team I have nothing to worry about you don't
get too many of them chances, especially coming
from New York.
Shoot, if you can't
get done in New York, you know, which is
obviously what I would consider, I mean,
one of the biggest markets, maybe the
market. Yeah. You know, if you can deal with that
meeting, you can deal with anything.
Do it in. It's just
like, you know, Trey Lance, he was a project.
He played.
I forgot about it. I just,
I don't get it. Where did Tray Lance as
a backup, huh?
Is he in Dallas still?
A Houston?
Because I know he was a...
Oh, no, the Chargers.
Oh, okay, okay.
Okay.
Because he played, basically, he played all the preseason, the Chargers.
Carl Banks, who's the radio analyst for the Giants,
was extremely critical this week of Dexter Lawrence
on his podcast with Bob Popper.
Dexter Lawrence nobody respects you anymore nobody banks said before going on going in on
to say Lawrence wasn't playing at the same level as previous seasons
Lawrence strongly disagree with banks assessment citing at the rate in which he gets
double team those are strong words that's how you feel eff it he's delusional
Lawrence is getting double team a league high 75% of the pass rate
uh 75% of the rate on his pass rush opportunities
I know Banks
I played against Banks
obviously he's older than me
but I played against Banks
I think he was still at the Giants
I know I played against him when he was at Cleveland
because when Coach Belichick went to Cleveland
he took Banks with him
Banks was originally one of the Giants
him, it was him, Pep
Harry Carson and LT
so that's why I know him farming
so I know I know I know
Banks
yeah what do you
What do you, what do you think, oh, Joe, when analysts come out, played the game, he played the game at a high level.
I think one year base was the first team all pro.
As a matter of fact, I think he beat an LT that year.
He was the first team all pro.
What do you say when guys are critical?
I mean, you know, he just, this is his opinion, that he doesn't believe that that Dexter is playing at the level in which he's played in years past.
and playing got a level in which he got the big contract
that the Giants giving him, which he earned.
I mean, honestly, you got three defensive tackles
in the NFL that are considered the best right now.
Chris Jones is one of them.
Yeah.
Jefferson is another, and that third is,
in no particular order, and the third is Dexter Lawrence.
Now, I'm not sure when Mr. Banks is watching
when it comes to football,
especially in New York Giants.
I'm sure he probably watches all the Giants game,
being that he had...
Yeah, he's an analyst, yeah, yeah.
He and Bob Papa, yeah.
He has a podcast that he's doing with Big Papa,
but you can see and understand that they scheme
ways to stop Dexter Lawrence.
Every player, first down, it's going to be a double team.
Second time, it's going to be a double team.
So you understand how difficult it is
for him to have the efficiency
that Carl Banks is looking for,
saying that nobody's scared of him anymore.
If they weren't scared of him anymore,
they wouldn't be double teaming, no.
Let me ask you a question.
Let me ask you a question.
How many times you think AD got double?
Now, we talk about two totally different dogs.
We talk about two totally different dogs.
You and I both know, when you become that guy,
you can't give excuses.
You can't say, hey, man, get up and all your man.
they doubling me.
We pay you to be doubled.
You've been in them trenches, right?
Yeah.
You know what it's like dying at.
Now, I know I play around a lot.
I don't, hey, I don't be down there,
but I know what them strong joking could do.
And I know what it's like.
And having to move your ass up by the way,
that.
And having to take on two of that every time,
no matter how strong you are,
you mean I got to deal with two of me?
Yeah.
What we do, what we do, Ocho,
is that we don't do it every time,
but we do it enough that when we don't do it,
you're anticipating it.
So you hesitate, and that's all I need.
He who hesitate is beat.
So that's all I need to do, Ocho.
I'm going to double your ass enough
that now when I don't double it,
you're anticipating the double to come.
Hey.
What did they do the receivers that used to get in the ball?
What I'm going to do is double you early on.
I'm going to get you frustrated.
I ain't going to double you the whole game.
I just want to do it just the first quarter,
get you frustrated.
then I got you
damn
so I look
I get it
you look
I think when you're losing
okay what's going on
why aren't we winning
because I think you look at
they got law
they got Thibodeau
they got Carter
they got Brian Burns
ain't no reason
you give up 33 points
in the fourth quarter
I'll give a damn what you say
they got a nice squad of names
they got a nice squad of names
names.
Man, Brian, uh, Brian, uh, what's his name?
Brian Burns, been to the Pro Bowl.
Desta Lards was an all pro.
Boy, nice.
Tibbyto.
Kayvon.
They got, they got guys that can put,
now the back end leaves a lot to be desired.
Okay.
Because if they don't get there, it's going to be a completion.
Absolutely.
Um,
he said he's been double.
But it's hard, I mean, people like people talking.
And the thing is, Banks knows football.
Banks studies the game.
He's a student of the game.
It's ain't on anybody.
No, no, no.
No, no, it's not.
It's absolutely not.
All I can tell, uh, Dex,
hey, just keep plugging, bro.
That's all you do.
Just keep plugging away.
That's all you do.
That's all you can do.
But that goddamn double team, boy, that's just,
what a thing here, boy.
it is
I mean you got to realize they got
600 pounds rooting your ass up out of there
you know he's you know he under
or he's shade nose
hey bro you got the center and the guard
oh they're gonna get your ass up out of there
that's tough and it's so funny
speaking to that and watching
Aaron Donald and some of their clips with him
and his ability to get off so fast
and make himself skinny
to where he's only dealing with one man
out of the double team
I thought that's crazy
and every blue moon you'll see him
he'll grab one in the middle of the chest
at one hand and had the other way
in the middle of the chest with the other hand
and he's looking
he controlling everything
I'm like how the hell is he
that's what the hell he's doing all that
a lot of times you have to
you have to be able to feel the double team
you see how the guy
how if he's trying to reach me
they're trying to scoop me or they're
trying to scoop me or they're trying to
they're trying to power they're trying to combo
block me
But that's instinct.
That's years and years of playing that double team
and understanding.
Because, you know, like you said, hey, you got to make a pile.
But he was so good at playing on the edge.
So he's not, and the same thing I tell tight end,
bro, don't let that man square you up.
You give him a side.
You give him, hey, you decide.
Don't let him put his hands in your breastplate.
Oh, it's a rap.
You're not going nowhere.
And don't let him be strong.
You definitely move me.
Yeah.
You better be able to whack.
And that's what the good detackles.
Look out, look out Aaron Donald Rush.
You see he's doing, he's doing like a wire receiver on tight in.
He's up there doing this.
Ah, I.
Trying to get skinny, trying to run the rim.
They used to have a circle and guys run around it
and see how low they could get and get around there.
I remember that.
It's frustrating when you lose,
until you know that.
And when you lose, okay, who makes the most money?
Because you got making $750,000.
Why are we talking about him?
No attention to that.
Yeah, yeah.
And listen, and the funny thing about it is a lot of people will see this as Hayden.
Obviously, when it comes to probably the best player on the defense,
it is next to Lawrence.
And to come out and say something like that,
well, you know, people aren't scared anymore.
when obviously, statistically, based on the numbers that you just said,
that anyone that's being blocked in the other teams 70% of the time or more,
I mean, there's your answer.
There's your answer.
Oh, I still think he's, I still think he's feared.
I still think they understand.
