Starting point is 00:07:08 The best tasting smooth is VSOP cognac on the market, and it drinks like an XO without the price. We have it in two sizes, the 750, which is the OG, and we have the junior now, which is the 375. The same great quality, same great taste, the same smoothness. Please drink responsibly and stay safe. Well, you know what? He said Lionel, but it's Lionel.
Starting point is 00:07:34 You know what I'm saying? In the country inside, we say Lionel. Lianneux. Breaks the record for most World Cup goals, scoring after these scores two versus Austria. Missed penalty kick early in the game, missed the penalty kick in the World Cup history. He has the most missed penalties in World Cup history. Yes. Uh, Peter Schmichael, I think that's how you say his name.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Yeah. Uh, says that Messi's goal shouldn't have stood due to a foot file in the buildup. Messy goal should have been a disallow, uh, McAllister and kick Schlegger from behind, clearing the obvious mistake from the referee. Ocho. Yes. And Messi and Co. Get away with another after the match after not being, uh, red carded in his previous match.
Starting point is 00:08:18 I mean, we're still talk about that. Obviously not. You're going to collide with people. Sometimes if it's if it's not purposely done, you know, sometimes the rest will overlook it. You know, Messi is not a repeat offender and having files and, you know, clawing somebody. Obviously it was an accident if you watch if you watch the game. Other than that, man, like it's hard for me to continue to try to defend what I thought was the greatest player of all time at Grishano with the way Messi is playing. What what Messi's done is, I already knew his greatness. I understood his greatness.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And with an appreciation that I have for the beautiful game in general, I understand he was one of the best to probably ever do it. And just what he's doing at his sixth World Cup man at 39 years old or 38 years old, excuse me. And just it's, it's unbelievable. Like you're not supposed to be able to, when you're 39 years old, when you're playing for your country, you're supposed to be coming off the bench. Not dictating games, you know, and just just. Not the best player in the World Cup. Basically. And that's what he is.
Starting point is 00:09:21 I'm almost at a loss of a word trying to describe what he's been able to do. Forget just his whole career. But what he's doing at 38 at the World Cup right now, man? It's just, it's unreal. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that in the biggest moments he normally shows up. And he normally shows up in big ways. We saw him last year in the World Cup. And that was one of the great final matches between them and France.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And then to start, not start, I mean, here he is in 26. and he gets three goals to start and he gets another two goals he's got five hell he gets another one to two goals oh joe he's gonna win the golden boot yeah yeah yeah he's gonna win it again well well hold on you you you he might because imbopi is right on his head oh and bobby's only two gold and bopi had two again today so imbopi every time messy do something and bobby come right back and do and do the same thing and early early holland is not too far behind those yes behind those two yeah he's just he's just phenomenal i mean he said to uh Look, he has 17, broke 17, then he got 18. The most goals in World Cup history. Obviously, I think I'm Boppe has 14. Yeah. So he's going to need to put that thing on that there because Mbapap is coming. I don't know how long he's going to have it.
Starting point is 00:10:30 He looked like he might have it for at least Ocho for this World Cup, considering. Yeah. But considering Inbapé's age and how many more World Cups he's going to be a part of? He got, he got he got at least three more. He got to leave three more. You got to think this is only his third World Cup. if I'm not mistaken. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And he's at 14. It took messy, it took messy sixth World Cup to get to the number he's at now. So Bobby's probably going to got him to crush that. And like you said, he's right on his heels right now. So in Bobby, if he's,
Starting point is 00:11:00 if he just kidding. I mean, it's like you're watching this and you're like, you're in awe of just how great messy is. Yes. And then you're watching them. I've been like, well,
Starting point is 00:11:09 bro, y'all know I'm not fair to chinia, right? And Holland is like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, let's like you carried away. These other two guys are great. but I'm great in my own right. It's just amazing. I mean, to sit here and I'm not the biggest soccer aficionado,
Starting point is 00:11:22 but I know greatness when I see it. Yes, sir. No matter no sport, no matter the activity, you know greatness when you watch it. Yeah. You watch people shoot billions and you watch them play horseshoes or you watch them bowl. You watch them throw darts.
Starting point is 00:11:34 You watch them do cornhole. No matter the sport, you know what greatness is. If you don't know anything about the game, you might not know a singer, but let somebody go out there and start singing. That person can say. Yeah, you know the difference. And the funny thing, you can actually tell exactly how good certain individuals are,
Starting point is 00:11:53 even if you don't watch soccer, if you watch Argentina play, if you watch Norway play, or if you watch France play, you can tell Mbapé is a difference maker. You can just tell once he gets the ball at his feet. He's change the pace, what he's able to do. Holland is the same way. Very efficient when it comes to score on goals. I always say, I'm at this point now. messy doesn't play for Argentina
Starting point is 00:12:16 Argentina plays for messy from now that that that that that that that's it and I need I'm not sure in Portugal plays but I need Christiano to come to the party I need his teammates to actually to to to play as one now I don't want to be like to
Starting point is 00:12:32 so you said messy bigger than the country now man listen I don't I don't know what else to say I don't know what else to say like what he's doing it's ridiculous it's ridiculous and I know him and Christano play two completely different positions. Yes. Shano plays a dependent position on his midfield.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Messi can kind of control the games as a point guard in a sense. Right. You know, so, I mean, but, oh, man, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude is phenomenal, man. I mean, I think the thing is, Ocho, and I don't really know, look, I don't really know a whole lot of great other arching times. I know Juan Del Porteux, the great tennis player. Yes. Had to retire early because he had wrist injuries.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yes. He beat, with a 2009, I think he beat Federer at the U.S. Open and a five-setter with a great match, Delpo. But I don't know a whole lot of great, oh, Manu, but for the most part. And but because, but soccer is the sport. And I remember Deepo, he got his welcome when he went back and he won the U.S. Open. And I'm sure Manu, similar, especially especially when they won the FIFA, when they won the World Cup. and then they ended up winning the gold medal in 2004. So that was a hero's welcome.
Starting point is 00:13:45 But what this man doing, like I said, I don't know, like I said, we don't have, we didn't have internet and we didn't have the coverage that we have now. Right. But Maradona. Maradona, yeah, Pele. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Hey, a, um, it's, and the fact that Messi makes it so easy and I have a great understanding of the game on how, difficult the game is. And he just gliding past people shooting with a fishing, shooting with his left, shooting with his right. He's always three steps ahead of everybody else. His IQ, you know, and understanding for where everybody's going to be and how to manipulate defenders to get, ah, man, his body faints. It's like, dude, you're 38. Like, what are you doing? What do you do?
Starting point is 00:14:31 You're making it hard for me to argue with people on Twitter and Instagrams about why I feel Christian was my goal. I mean, it's like I'm running out of things to argue about. And the plus to Ocho is that he's been great for so long. Yes. It's almost like, yeah, is he, I mean, and it's hard to say, but the 24 year old messy, he looks very similar to the 38 year old messy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:57 He's still doing it at an elite level. These guys are getting faster. They're getting stronger. And he's like, okay. And I'm still, I still can do it at an elite level. Yeah. And we're like, retire, retire. Why?
Starting point is 00:15:09 And do what? This gift I have. And that's what, you know, we talk about it and a lot of times like, well, he should retire. It's hard to tell somebody when they're still playing at an elite level to just walk away from the game. And do what? When you've trained a lifetime for this moment,
Starting point is 00:15:30 you don't want it to end. I don't know if, Chad, I don't know whatever your greatest moment is. Whether you've been in love and y'all went on a honeymoon or the first time you know, you and your lady or your guy got together or where you went somewhere with your family. You didn't want that moment to end. This man has had 20 years of damn moments.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Not one, 20 years. Big ones. At this point, Unkey just playing for fun. He's won everything that's possible. He is. Eight Belonde yours. I mean, who knows how many golden boots. He's got a World Cup already.
Starting point is 00:16:04 So he basically, I just, he played playing for fun. I'm doing anything. Anything extra is just a cherry on top. No, he just add layers to his cake, Ocho. I mean, how many layers? The cake are ready, you're like a wedding cake, Ocho, they got to eat your wedding cake. How tall you want this damn cake?
Starting point is 00:16:19 Because ain't nobody gonna be able to reach up there and cut the top of it. We gotta start at the damn bottom. Yeah, man, he's special. Man, he's special. Like, I've never denied him being special. I never denied him being one of the greatest of all time. But I just, as great as he is,
Starting point is 00:16:37 is I still prefer Christano. That's okay. I know people will say anyone that knows ball knows that Messi is the greatest. I just prefer. Based on style of play. I understand what Messi's doing.
Starting point is 00:16:47 It's phenomenal. He's magic with the ball at his feet. But for me, I like the, it's hard to even put it in the words because people are going to argue the fact. Look at the resume. Look at the accolades.
Starting point is 00:17:01 It's just my preference. That's all. I mean, can you imagine? he's Jordan in his country. Can you imagine what he's like in his country? He can't go anywhere just like Michael Joe. I mean some people he like he, Ronaldo, they're like probably 10 sports guys.
Starting point is 00:17:23 They can't go maybe a little more. They can't go anywhere in the world. They're that recognizable. Yeah. Messy, Ronaldo, Jordan. Some guys can't go anywhere. Yeah. They'll never,
Starting point is 00:17:34 they'll never know what it's like. To be normal. To be not famous. Yeah. Because they've been famous longer than they've not been famous. You saw, okay, I would take the first 10, you take the first 18 years of Jordan's life. Once he hit that shot, everybody knew who Mike Jordan was. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Ronaldo, Messi. Once they burst on the international stage, so for the last 25, 20 years, they've been famous. They've been famous. LeBron James, once he appeared on a couple of Sports Illustrated, it was over. It was over He's never Michael Jackson Once he was at seven, eight years old
Starting point is 00:18:14 He was never going to be a have a normal life Yeah He was never going to be a kid Yeah Messy is never going to be able to go His kids are His kids will never know what it's like Not to be in the spotlight
Starting point is 00:18:28 And be able to go to the park And kick the ball around with the dad Ocho like a lot of kids get an opportunity To play baseball with their father or shoot. Mm-hmm. You know, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:38 at your house? Yeah, you ain't going to no park. Yeah, you know, you know, you know, so funny, there's a clip of Messi
Starting point is 00:18:43 and his wife going to Carbone because you got to think, now when you're in Miami, the people that live here in Miami, they think they're celebrities themselves. They just be regular people. So obviously, I've seen Messi go to Carbone with his wife,
Starting point is 00:18:56 and I've seen him, he was in Publix. He was in Publix with his wife all by himself. And obviously, you know, he's so short, um, you look past him,
Starting point is 00:19:06 unless you're a soccer fan. Right. You look right past. I mean, he's about, what, five, six, maybe five, seven, if that. So if you don't know, you just see a short guy, just short guy walking. He always wears his hat real low, so you can't tell who it is. Right. And he's just, man, dude, man.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Listen, tomorrow, I don't know if the Portuguese players are going to this, but I need you guys, especially that midfuel, Bruno, Bettina, I need you to get Ronaldo the ball. Just getting the ball. Don't play hero ball, please. Because I need something to argue. I can't even debate. I can't even argue with people on Twitter because messy having an all world tournament so far.
Starting point is 00:19:42 You know what it is, Ocho? I think the thing is that like when great players and don't pretend like they don't, he's probably telling, bro, y'all see what this man doing? Y'all get this man to ball. Great way, great wide receivers. It's driving crazy. You're going to get another wide receiver
Starting point is 00:19:58 and that man cutting y'all look. Man, y'all let this man show me up in my damn house. What are y'all doing? Oh, man. It's difficult, man. difficult. I'm trying to, hey, we're going to force feet. We're going to force feet, oh boy to ball because we know what's on the other side.
Starting point is 00:20:13 He'll get upset. So we're going to double him, but y'all force feet. Man, they're running smoke screen. They're running jail break street. Don't you? They're running. They run it hit you. Everything.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Nah, it sucks. This is unbelievable. Gailin Mboppe scores two goals versus Iraq, four goals and two games, 16 World Cup Goals and 16 career games. Crazy. That's crazy. Erland Holland scores two goals versus Senegal. He has four goals in two games in his first ever World Cup. Boy, it's good, Unk, man.
Starting point is 00:20:52 If I was to compare somebody and use football terminology to give you a better example, Holland would be like Calvin Johnson. Yeah, he's huge. Six four, six five. He's got right to say you look like he about six four. Hey, strong as hell. You get you.
Starting point is 00:21:06 You catch him on a run on a counter fast, hold people off. He can hold up plate. He's nice. Nothing pretty to him. He ain't going to dribble past you and then look like messy or look like imbae. He's going to be in between the legs and between your legs and then take off running. Nah, he ain't doing all that. He ain't doing all that.
Starting point is 00:21:26 But for what he does, he does it really, really, really, really goddamn way. Is it, is scoring easier now, Ocho? No. And that's just how good. The people you just named, they are the best at scoring. Not only in the World Cup, they're the best of scoring in the world and even at their clubs. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:45 That thing, Holland's scoring 30, 30 goals in the season. You know, messy here. When you hear about the great, you know, the grades like Mueller and Clemsman and Pelley and all those guys, they're like, well, damn. What were y'all doing back there? These guy right here, they're a pass, y'all. Hey, if you think about it, right, if you, when someone asked the question, is it scoring really that easy. It's not because it's the same, the same culprits when it comes to the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
Starting point is 00:22:16 Holland, Mbapé, Holland, Messe. Even when, Messi has a 90, hey, chat, correct me if I'm wrong. What's that season where Messe had, was it 61 goals or was it 91 in the, in the league season? Wow. I'm, um, something stupid. Stupid. Like, if you were playing a video, if you were playing the video game, you could score that many goals. Like that, huh? Huh? You wouldn't be able to score like that if you play it on the video game?
Starting point is 00:22:40 No, I don't know what you. I don't know what Messi ate that season. Chad, how many, how many was that, that crazy season at Barcelona? That, that, I mean, Messi had that crazy goal season. It was, it was something crazy. 73. No, it was 91. Yeah, I said it right.
Starting point is 00:22:56 I was right. 91 and 91? 91. They only got 32, is it 32 games in the season? And plus, they only got 32 games in the season. Plus a few other tournaments, no combined. Well, hell, hell, hell, I mean, he's 38 now. So how was he in 91?
Starting point is 00:23:15 That was, that it was in 2014, 2015 season. He scored 91 goals. Oh, okay, so it wasn't, it wasn't 91 and 91. No, no, he scored 91 goals in a season. It was 91 goals in a calendar year. Yeah. You know how hard that is? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:30 You got people don't even have 91 goals in their career, and here he'd go with 91 in one season. That's great, man. Well, I don't know what else is saying. FIFA do, people do getting, look, I think everybody's extremely happy because you're big time player, the people that they know.
Starting point is 00:23:54 I don't know, not a whole lot of people, probably like myself, don't know a whole lot about soccer. We know names. And when the names show up and show out, that's what, hey, Ocho, that's what you want. Yeah. It's like, it's a quarterback-driven league. I want the quarterbacks to do well.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Well, I want my big. guns. I want messy. I want Mbapé. I want Holland. I want all those guys. I want them to play well. And they've absolutely hit it out the park. Yeah, they have. I just need I just need my guy to hit it out the park tomorrow. Right. He scored 73 in one season. And then he tacked on 18 and a calendar year. So he had 91 goals in a calendar year. Right. He had 73 just in the season. Hey, I need, I need, I need, I need, I need, I need, I need, I need, listen, Portugal plays. about to get 73, so. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Hey, but Portugal play Uzbekistan tomorrow. Yeah. Uzbek, that should, that should be, that should be a statement game. It should, I don't want to be disrespectful to Uzbekistan. Portugal should, should, should, they need to make a statement because they haven't been playing well as a team, as a whole unit, not Cristiano, just in general. I ain't fit to let you, but see, guess what, guess what the Uzbekistan's thinking? What?
Starting point is 00:25:07 You ain't been to get no four, five goals on us. So what they're going to do? somebody else could go, but you not. Listen, Columbia beat him 3-1. That's okay. Hold on. Netherlands beat him 2-1. That's okay. I need, I need, come on, come on, Portugal.
Starting point is 00:25:25 We'll give Chris Henry 300. We ain't giving you 300 because you're going to act of food. See, we'll give T. We'll let T.J. get it. Not you. Because T.J. Just going to hand the ball to the official, maybe spike the ball. You go act up.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Yeah, yeah. Listen, I need to have a game. I need to be able to argue back and forth on Twitter. I need to. I have no rebuttals. There's really nothing I can say. It's getting hard and harder, Ocho, for you to argue back and forth. It is.
Starting point is 00:25:55 It's getting hard and harder. I mean, I would now I would you have some ammunition. I mean, you can win a war, but you got to have, you got to have the weapons to fight. Since the tournament started, I don't have nothing. Like zero. No, you're going out there, old school fight. you're going out there with muskets and cannon.
Starting point is 00:26:12 It's drones. It's drones now, man. Everything is precision, Ocho. Hey, hey, boy, they're killing me on Twitter, man. I don't know, Ocho. He better do something.
Starting point is 00:26:30 He better do something. Hey. I, I, I'm hoping. I'm hoping. I'm hoping for a good showing in general from everybody. I want the midfield. I want Bruno to play like the best midfielder.
Starting point is 00:26:46 He's supposed to be. Oh, Joe, we got breaking news. Minnesota is sending Julius Randall and the number 28 picks in the NBA draft in a three-team trade that says Nick Clack. Happy Pride Month, Toronto. Pride is an opportunity for you to create your own space, to celebrate your existence.

Your 24-7 radio stream and the only playlist you need for your Toronto Pride celebrations. Pride is so great because it gives a whole bunch of people this visibility that they've never had before. Starting point is 00:27:26 Happy Pride. I heart radio. I love the sounds. The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad.
Starting point is 00:27:53 It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernando Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game.
Starting point is 00:28:19 The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
Starting point is 00:28:47 And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, There's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things.
Starting point is 00:29:13 The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:30:01 This kid, Jafar Jackson, is as good as Rami Malik as Freddie Mercury, and it's as good as Timothy Shamaulay as Bob Dylan. And I say that with love and respect for both of those actors. And I don't know how many Oscar nominations they give out, I don't know if it's five, six for best actor. 150% this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely positively get nominated for his portrayal as Michael Jackson. Listen to I Am Rap Report on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. I am Rapaport podcast. You said to me, yo, you know, keep at it, because you let me rap for you.
Starting point is 00:30:44 It was magical for all of us. We made it. We made it. Yeah. I'm like, we? You know, I'm like, I know these guys, but who are you? I'm MC Jen, and this is laugh but not least. I'll be chatting with guests from all walks of life
Starting point is 00:30:58 about the power of humor when it comes to facing difficult times, like the co-founder of Rough Riders, Darren D. Dean. Talking about as a kid, do you remember that we met even way before that? Let me think. Did you walk up to the gate? That was me, Dee. That was you? That was me. The day we found out that you and the whole crew was at Hit Factory,
Starting point is 00:31:16 the mission was to get me to go to the gate, start freestyling, and see if I could get in the studio. I'm rapping. and then suddenly I hear a voice, hey, open the gate, let him in. The gate slowly went, come, come, come, come, come. They all, they're watching this, and they watch me walk into there, and that is a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life. Listen, and laugh but not least, with MC Jen on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:31:39 or wherever you get your podcast. To Chicago, the Timberwolves will require Brooklyn's number 33 pick for Randall and number 28. The T-Wolf now have flexibility to sign, Ayo Dusamu, and have an available $15 million non-tax mid-level and a $5.5.5 million by annual exception. Minnesota will also create a $33.3 million trade exception. So in other words, Ocho, they gave this man away. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:11 They gave, they were so, listen, Chad, do y'all realize what they did? Julius Randall is a former All-Star. Yes. Let's say, you know what? Here, we get y'all Julie's rammer. What y'all got? Y'all got some pre-wrap tape. Gatorade.
Starting point is 00:32:32 You remember the Gatorade? Ocho used to pay in the bag, used to pour in the bag and pour the water in the stir. Yeah, yeah, and make the powder and mix it up. Yeah. Hey, oh, I got a question. Yes. He wasn't that bad.
Starting point is 00:32:43 He wasn't that bad to just let him go like that. He wasn't good when they needed him to be good. And far too many times, that's what, because at the end of the day, Ocho, yes. You make a King's Ransom in the regular season, but in the postseason, they needed him to show up. They needed somebody,
Starting point is 00:33:01 and guess what? McDaniels had passed him as being the second best player. That's not an option. Right. So he made it easy for him to make that decision, huh? Yes. And that's messed up, boy. Man, they literally gave this man away.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Hold, let me say. The Timber Woods would acquire Brooklyn. number 33 pick for Randall and 28. So, hold on. They say we take number 33. We'll get y'all Julius Radma and our 28 pick. Damn. Now watch he go.
Starting point is 00:33:42 He went to the Bulls, huh? No, he went to the Nets. Nick Claxton goes to the Bulls. Oh, to the Bulls. Okay. Yes. Let me see. So we over there with the Nets?
Starting point is 00:33:50 Who over there in Brooklyn? Nobody. Michael Porter, Jr. is the only one that I really, that I know of. I don't really know anybody else on the Nets. I mean, that's not even fair. So he didn't went somewhere,
Starting point is 00:34:02 where they're not, he's not even on the contender anymore. That's what they're telling him. Remember, they thought he was the piece to a contender. Remember when the Knicks got him? Remember when the T. Wolbs got him? Yeah. He is supposed to be a missing piece to a contender. When they trade you to the Nats.
Starting point is 00:34:21 And I mean, no disrespect, but it's like, okay, now I'm just collecting a check and playing ball. I want to compete for a ring. I want to compete for a championship too. Yeah, you had that opportunities. You had the opportunity. You were at the Knicks, and then they moved you, they thought that, me,
Starting point is 00:34:41 and the mere fact that Minnesota thought they would get better by trading Kat versus for Jew Randall. Hey, I don't know. That's tough. Hey, systems matter, like you say all the time. Great players overcome system. Kobe's going to be Kobe in any system.
Starting point is 00:35:04 LeBron will be LeBron, join to be joining the great players or be great in any system. Right. The great players can overcome a system. A great player is the system. Instead of being that bull in the China shop more times than offer, he's jacking up threes. He needed to be the second best player.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Night in and night out, he needed to be the second best player. And we saw right before our eyes, McDaniels, passing. We saw it. De Samu passed it. Look better consistently than Julius Randall. Yeah. Shannon came off the bench and looked better than Randall. I can't pay you that kind of money, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:35:48 and have guys coming off the bench are playing better than you. I can't. Especially in those big moments, especially in those big games, especially in the guy in the playoffs. They gave this man away. At least, at least when he was on the Knicks,
Starting point is 00:36:09 they went to the playoffs, and then you go to Minnesota, like, okay, I got, look at it. I'm going, I'm going to join, I'm going to join Aunt Man. I'm going to join Rudy Gobert. You know, hey, we got a nice little squad. We'll continue. You go to the next. Oh, Joe, you're not going nowhere.
Starting point is 00:36:22 You can't, you can't, hey, you can't, when your family asked you off camera, man, how are y'all looking? You can't even lie. You can't lie. Get your money. How many years he got still in the contract? You got one year left or two?
Starting point is 00:36:54 Oh, he picked it out up. Yeah, he got two years. What's his player option? Yeah, he picking that up. Where how much is it? 35.8. What if he don't pick it up? What happens?
Starting point is 00:37:08 He becomes a free agent, and then he hopes somebody gives, somebody, give them a long-term deal for more than what he, for more than that one year? So you think, you think it's a possibility
Starting point is 00:37:17 someone take a chance on him? Anything possible. It's hard for you to, it's hard for me to read the NBA. Right. What they do. Let's talk about it. According to Shams, Trey Young's intend to sign a four-year $212 million deal to stay with the Washington Wizards with a player option in year four.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Remember, he turned down the 49 million player option for the 26-27 season, betting on himself to secure a longer-term deal. And today, Ocho, that paid off. According to Jake Fisher, Anthony Davis, and his camp have been seeking a max extension and plausible to consider him a potential trade candidate out of Washington. You asked, man, why would trade decline a $50 million deal? Okay. So I can get a four-year deal for $2.12. Yeah, I just asked that yesterday to it. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:38:08 That's crazy. And it came to fruition. Now, what about Anthony Davis? Now, how is he asking or requesting anything long term with his history and always being heard? Guess what? Because they don't make very many 16 guys that can give you 20 and 12 and three blocks a game. Shoot 50% can anchor your defense. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I think they should put something in the contract, though. We'll give you a league. Player, and never let you do it. Hey, we'll give you max dollars, right? And the only way you earn the max dollars that we put in the contract is that you stay healthy and play a certain amount of games each season.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Player association ain't going to go for that. Now, you see kind of some of the, the situation that they put in Zion contract, body fat, got to be a certain level, got to be under a certain weight thing like that. Now, you want to be, want this deal. You ain't got to sign it. But who's going to run the risk? Yeah, I put that in
Starting point is 00:39:07 that somebody going to give you $150 million and they said, well, Ocho, we need you on time. Well, you're going to sign that deal. Yeah. And then you take, you know what, hey, I'm going to take the, I take a late for you a couple of times, but I'm going to get this money. You're not going to be so bullheaded like, man, I ain't signing that. That's a bad deal. Ain't nobody else got to sign that. So that And from what they're talking about Anthony Davis Go probably get it
Starting point is 00:39:33 And become a trade candidate Yeah I mean he should get it huh Now he ain't well he that boy Now I even I understand that When he's playing him on the court I understand how good he is On both ends of the court But I mean my goodness chat
Starting point is 00:39:46 I mean you know Am I wrong If I was heard all the time Who they I heard the nickname Street Clothes Who they call street clothes Huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:56 You know, so I mean, listen, I'm just saying maybe, you know, the NBA team can protect themselves a little bit, you know, throw a little language in there like, listen, man, if you can't give us this amount of gain, you know, we're going to take a little piece of that pie. All they have is an insurance policy like a lawyers of London. If somebody's a career ending injury, because that money is guaranteed, they get their money back.
Starting point is 00:40:21 That's basically what they have, Ocho. Yeah. But like you said, because of his, because they know he's 20 plus points, double digit rebounds, he shoots a high percentage. He's got a mid-range. He got post the ball. He can shoot the three. Sometimes I think he falls in love with three a little bit too much. He can anchor your defense.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Oh, he's phenomenal. When he's played. He nice. When he plays. But trade, you know, it's going to be very interesting because now you hear more. all of a sudden Peterson has jumped back into the mix. Everybody, he has so much upside, so much upside that you're willing to take the risk
Starting point is 00:41:02 on some of the things that we saw in college. Right. Now with trade back, but I think the most part, most guys with the exception, with the exception of Camboozer, both guys need the ball. The bouncer had the ball. Peterson might have,
Starting point is 00:41:24 Peter somebody didn't have the ball in his hands as much as the Bonza. Right. Obviously, you know trade needs to ball. Mm-hmm. So it's going to be interesting to see how they do this. Washington has the number one pick, huh? Washington has the number one pick, Utah has the number two pick. And that would probably be why, based on what they were able to do in college,
Starting point is 00:41:45 if the Bonza always had the ball in his hands, I mean, I would think his better destination would be Utah, where he could be on a team where he could have the ball in his hands. If Peters is already showed you, I can, listen, I could play off the ball. I could play without the ball. All things being equal. Everybody wants to be the first pick. Now, being the first pick doesn't land me in my ideal spot.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Right. Maybe it's a situation. Remember Chris Weber went number one overall and they ended up trading him for Penny Hardaway. Mm-hmm. Guys like, look, you can trade me wherever. I just want that attached out of the number one overall draft pick. Trade me wherever. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:26 But just give me that. Let me have that. And I think, I think AJ DeBonzo would love to be the number one overall draft pick and then they make a trade, them in Washington work out something. But I just think,
Starting point is 00:42:39 how tall is Peterson? Because that is a really small backcourt with him and Trey Young in it. How tall he is, huh? Six four. Six four, but you know, Trey's six foot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:04 We're being nice. And, Look, what happened? Well, he's going, I mean, I mean, now I ain't going by Wikipedia, because you set your own Wikipedia numbers. What did they measure it at the NBA Combine? Okay, six four to half.
Starting point is 00:43:38 That's what he is. Oh, he's six four, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes, because they measure, because you know they measure you in your socks, I guess. So he's six four and a half. Because you know, in the NFL combat, they make you put your heels together and lift your toes. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Because they don't want you to get no art. Now, they say, you know what, he's probably six, five, he's going to have on sneakers. So we're going to go and get him that half inch, so he's 6'5. Pride month Toronto. Pride is an opportunity for you to create your own space, to celebrate your existence. Did you walk up to the gate? That was me, Dee. That was you? That was me. The day we found out that you and the whole crew was at Hit Factory,
Starting point is 00:48:18 the mission was to get me to go to the gate, start freestyleing, and see if I could get in the studio. Starting point is 00:48:37 Listen and laugh but not least with MC Jen on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. But we'll see, hey. The draft tomorrow, huh? Yeah, I see. We're going to find out tomorrow. Who goals number one? According to Shams, Yonnas is expected to be traded before the start of the NBA draft Tuesday,
Starting point is 00:48:59 with the Celtics and heat emerging as finalists to land the Bucs Superstar. You don't say. The folks are not expected to include a third team in the Yonis trade, according to a source, and are focused solely on negotiating with the Celtics and the heat. Sources, excuse me, told Shams that if traded the two Milwaukee for Yonis, Brown would remain with the bugs. Ocho, the moment of truth.
Starting point is 00:49:21 That ain't going to happen. If you're a betting man, Yonis ends up in Miami or does he end up in Boston? Well, if you're a bet, man, I didn't tell you all the past six months where he was gone. I don't know how long I've been said it. You know, I ain't going to tell you who my source is. But again, everything I say,
Starting point is 00:49:37 Listen, I might tell a joke or two, but I ain't going to lie to you. I said we was going a long time ago. You know, y'all laughed it off. Y'all ain't believed me, but I told you he's down here looking for houses. Boom. Now it comes down to it. And listen, Janus, Tatum, and Jalen Brown, that ain't happening. We know that's not happening.
Starting point is 00:49:56 No. He's going to be in Miami. You know, Pat Riley got something else on this sleeve. Obviously, when Yonis get here, he got one more movie trying to make. we'll see if that comes into fruition so we can compete in the east. We don't want to be decoration. We want to be playing, you know,
Starting point is 00:50:14 not in the plan, but being a seed. Clearly, Boston have the most assets. You get Tyler Hero, you get Jaime Hawkees, you get K-O-Ware, and if I'm not mistaken, if I was reading it correctly,
Starting point is 00:50:32 you get three first-round picks and you get some pick swaps. Yes, sir. Now, on the flip, side, you get Jalen Brown, you get two late round draft pick, two late first round draft picks. I don't know the guy. You could put it up here? Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:45 The Miami Heat would send Tyler Hero, Jaime Highcares, Cal Ware, Nicola Hobbit, pick 13, two future first round picks. Boston would send Jalen Brown, Hugo Gonzalez, pick 27, and a future first round pick. Now, the question is, do you trust your scouting department? Do you trust your drafting department? Because you got a team that can go play right now with Hero, HotKeds, Ware, Hobbit, considering what you still have there.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Jalen Brown is a number one option. He's going to sell tickets. So, but it seems to me they won't draft capital. Remember, they bought Dame Lillard out of his deal. They still owed him like a hundred. hundred-something million. Damn. So, but if you give up all that, if you're the heat,
Starting point is 00:51:43 Bam and Yannis ain't winning no championship. They got one more trick up their sleeve, huh? I'm gonna see if it work. I sure hope so. Because this happens every time, Ocho, is that you give up all your assets. Yes, sir. And when the guy get there, the covet is bare.
Starting point is 00:52:05 That's what happened. See, just to imagine. imagine if the warriors had to trade for Kevin Durant. Now you can't keep all those pieces. Yeah. Because he's a free agent and you didn't have to give up anything. Anything. Yeah. Made it easy.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Made it easy. But they mad enough. You see the chat, they mad enough. Y'all keep, it's always, it's always us. When y'all says he could see himself playing for someone other than Milwaukee out of his own mouth. That's what he said. I didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Joe didn't say that. didn't say that the media didn't say that yonis said he could see himself player for someone other than the bucks yeah I bid damn if they ain't get mad at us the media y'all keep bringing it up y'all keep bringing it up
Starting point is 00:52:56 it should have gave you it should have gave you pause for cause when he didn't sign the extension in year five he didn't mention nothing about playing somebody else and your eight he didn't mention about say playing somewhere else and you're 10 now all of the same sudden he mentions the possibility of playing elsewhere. Yeah. And he didn't sign the extension that would have kept him there.
Starting point is 00:53:21 They think about they hard, huh? They think about they hard. Nothing but they mind. That's all. No, don't be mad. Oh, messy. No, y'all messy. Y'all get mad at us.
Starting point is 00:53:34 All we do is report. How do we have something report on if there's nothing? Y'all get mad every time when we, Ocho and I told you something was brewing in Philly. Y'all got mad. How you know, you ain't in the locker room. All you doing is tabloid. Do y'all think, y'all really be thinking people,
Starting point is 00:53:54 I'm not saying they don't. But 98% of the time, the sources, the sources is the head coach, the general manager, the owner, the player personnel, the scouting department. That's the source. And guess what? And a sprinkling of players in there. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Yeah. Shoot. I've been getting cussed out all day on Twitter. Talk about the Cleveland Browns and Deshawn Watson. You know, hey, they cussing me out, I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh, and Jerry Judy your source? I say, hey, this had nothing to do with Jerry Judy. You talk about, oh, we took a picture a few days ago and all of a sudden,
Starting point is 00:54:33 now I'm saying what I'm saying. No, for one, Jerry Judy's from Miami. Right. We grew up together. I'm just a little bit older. I mean, you would hope people understand that. But no, I'm using common sense and logic. The money's going to play.
Starting point is 00:54:46 There's nothing wrong with Shadoor. I love Shadour. I've said it countless times. He played well. He played well last year. You know, he had some ups and the outs. He has some growing pains. Yes.
Starting point is 00:54:56 But if Deshaun Watson is healthy, he's going to be the starter. Whether you like it or not because of the money. Yep. It's common sense if you understand the game. That's it. That's not a source. That's me having common sense and how the game goes. So in other words, they mad at the messengers.
Starting point is 00:55:16 Cause when Adam Schepter say that, y'all don't say Adam Scheptor being messy. When Shams say that, y'all don't say Shams being messy. Right. When Wode used to break story after story after story, after story, y'all didn't say Wold's making it up. So why Ocho and I got to be making it up? And y'all come to the conclusion, well, Jared Jude, you took a picture. Why does it matter how we got our information? We're telling you something you didn't know.
Starting point is 00:55:42 And then you turn around like, oh, we all knew that. No, you didn't. Because you argued me in the Ocho down. But y'all knew it now. But I'm just saying, why isn't Wodge? Why is it J. Glazier? Why isn't it, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, shams? Why isn't all those other people that give y'all inside information that they got from sources?
Starting point is 00:56:05 Why aren't they messy? I've never heard. and I follow Shefter. I've known Shepter longer than anybody. Anybody that is being, Schepter and I used to go to dinner. His mom and dad used to come to town. We would go to an Italian restaurant called Caramines.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Ask it. He got to Denver the same time I got to Denver. I've looked up on his comments. Not one time have y'all ever said the man was messy. I look up on the Sharm's comments. Never you say he's messy. I look up on the show. So I just need y'all to tell me
Starting point is 00:56:41 why when we give you information from a player standpoint and we can see things that you can't we can understand things that you can't why is Ocho and Unp being messy? Just answer me that. Go ahead, chat, take off. They, they, they, they, nah, ain't no crash out.
Starting point is 00:57:00 I'm asking y'all a simple question. Don't know what I'll crash out. Answer the question. Hey, no, they got, they got, no, I don't want to relax. I'm fine, I've been asleep all day. You see it did you, Ocho? Instead of answering the question,
Starting point is 00:57:17 crash out, relax. No, tell me why Ocho and I are messy. Adam Shepter report the same thing. Adam Shepter said things were going on in the locker room. When Ocho and I tried to tell you, you just being messy. Y'all will never say Adam Shepter starting anything. Y'all never say, Sean, I'm starting anything.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Nobody listened to me because I play so much. I ain't been, I'm right 98% of the time. I'm, I'm right 98% of the time anytime I say something. I don't, you know what, Ocho? I don't say anything because if I were to say stuff, y'all are going to try to pinpoint
Starting point is 00:58:04 who I got it from. Right. So to keep everybody safe, I don't say nothing. I just let it play out. Let's let it play out. Y'all find out in time. It's like,
Starting point is 00:58:17 It's like when the levy bus, man, why don't you tell me he's going to flood? Y'all going to find out sooner later. Yeah. I know a lot. That ain't my job. I'm going to let it play out because all you're going to do is tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:58:33 That's all you're going to do. Tell me I don't know what to talk about. We've been, I was on this OJ Brown since October. And I say the reason why you don't do that, I say because you have a game if you're not careful. And when they come to your Ocho, and you don't make no plays, They're going to let you have it.
Starting point is 00:58:51 And I be damn the Rams game, the playoffs, it came full, it came full circle. Yes, sir. There's a lot of things I see. Y'all, y'all forget that a lot of these coaches, a lot of these general managers, I know them. You ain't get it from me, okay.
Starting point is 00:59:14 Call me what you want to. But just call me correct. Say what you won't. Just say I'm correct. Why is it so hard for people to give it? people credit, especially our people. Y'all get Adam Shepter, y'all get Adam Shepter credit like it's nothing. Paul, me and Ocho, we just, being Ocho, we just, oh, Joe, just a poe hustler, trying to grow
Starting point is 00:59:35 a channel. Yeah. We can't get no credit. Hmm. Right. Hey, you know, he got, he, he got that big, that big entity behind him, you know, no, no, no, no, it ain't, damn the entity. Oh, Cho, we've been telling, we, look here, we played the game. Yes, sir. We're telling you what we say. We're see we tell you the interactions that's taking place having been a receiver having been a tight in having dealt with the quarterback tell you something all the years experience that we got between us we got 50 years of playing football yeah organized football but now we don't know what we're talking about so I'm crashing the and guess what y'all listen to me crashed out I love I love
Starting point is 01:00:29 It all the day all the day. Y'all still y'all, y'all, I just don't, I say what damn? Me and Ocho can say something. Yeah, this show did such and such a something. Oh, oh no, men, Ocho said that. I say what, damn. Nah, we don't get it. You ain't got it yet. Nope, no, now you get it.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Now you, but damn. Ocho, now they get it. Now, the boss can self-situation. A rare bull, please. Ocho. They got me. mad at us, the Boston Celtics situation with J.L.L. Tech, with J.B. and J.T. Y'all trying to break them up. Y'all trying to break them up. You can't break up something
Starting point is 01:01:17 that doesn't want to be broken up. Yeah. Talk to the Boston Celtics. J.B. sees himself as a number one. Yeah. The Celtics sees him Jason Tatum as the number one. He was never going to be seen in the eyes that we see him now, as long as Jason Tatum was there. What happened? Jason Tatum unfortunately got injured. Jalen Brown got an opportunity to show you he was the number one. Number one. Because even when Jason or when J.T.
Starting point is 01:01:51 excuse me, when J.B won Eastern Conference finals MVP, the Larry Bird Award, when he won finals MVP, what did everybody say? That's because everybody geared their defense to stop Jason Tatum. you still wouldn't get a man to credit. Even though he had the hardware on his mantle, you tried to make a reason or an excuse why he got it. Okay. So now Jason Tatum is injured.
Starting point is 01:02:17 He averages a career high. He gets his team to the number two seed. Hey, you know, it's funny. That's one of those situations is there's really nothing that Jalen Brown could have done. The chain, not only the eyes of the people, but the people in the organization that filled Jason, was the number one. That is the thing, Ocho, is how they view them in the organization. Yeah, yeah. You can't change. You can't change their mind in the organization,
Starting point is 01:02:53 even based on what you did when he was hurt. They still feel the same way or trade. There would be no trade rumors with your name in it. Thank you. You've never, tell me the time that you've ever heard a trade scenario when Jason Tatum was involved. Every trade scenario has always involved Jalen Brown. Not one scenario has ever had Jason Tatum name attached to it. And you know what? And I'm curious. I wonder who people think is a better player out of the two now based on what
Starting point is 01:03:32 Jaylon Brown is able to do. They still believe it's Jason Tatum. See, there's nothing Jaylon Brown could do to change that. Nothing. Even after he average 28.7, even after he got you the number two seed after you sold off all the pieces, that you had. You let Holiday go. You let Al Horford go. You moved on from Christop Brazinger's. There's nothing, nothing else Jalen Brown can do to convince them that he's a number
Starting point is 01:03:59 one option and he's the equivalent of Jason Tatum. Absolutely nothing. That's crazy. And if you know, you hear him speaking out a little more. He knows he sees the writing on the raw. Oh, yeah, absolutely. He knows this all along where this was coming from. He tried to play it off. Hey, look, I ain't got no problem. I don't know their relationship. Don't particularly care. I'm here to win games. I ain't here to be nobody's friend.
Starting point is 01:04:28 If I have, if I, if I, if I, if I develop friends in the process of winning, I'm good with that, Ocho. But if I don't, the hell with you. Yeah. And you know, the thing is, is they've already won, they ring. They've already gotten their trophy. So that, that, that's set in stone. Now, if Jaylon Brown is to go somewhere, I think they should run it back.
Starting point is 01:04:53 I don't see him actually being traded. I don't know. Basketball is weird. The way they conduct themselves, especially owners, especially management. The players got F-U money. When they want to leave, it's time to go. This is Michael Rappaport, and my podcast, the I Am Rappaport Stereo podcast, is unlike anyone you've ever heard.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority of Black City, in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.
