Hey, it's Alec Baldwin.
This past season on my podcast, Here's the Thing, I spoke with more actors, musicians,
policymakers, and so many other fascinating people, like writer and actor
Dan Aykroyd.
I love writing more than anything.
You're left alone.
You know, you do three hours in the morning, you write three hours in the afternoon, go
pick up a kid from school, and write at night.
And after nine hours, you come out with seven pages, and then you're moving on.

Mike Thomas spoke by Aaron Rodgers today.
Ochille, let's take a listen to what Mike T had to say.
Alright. Thomas spoke by Aaron Rogers today. Oh, Julie, let's take a listen to what Mike T had to say. All right.
Yeah.
Um, he's a free agent.
Um, as you guys know, um, he came to visit last Friday.
We had a really productive day.
Um, he's been in this thing a long time.
I've been in this thing a long time, but there's no substitute for, you know,
intimacy and spending time together and getting to know one another in a non-competitive
environment.
And so that was really good.
But I don't have any new updates in terms of where the process is.
We'll see where it leads us.
No, certainly isn't, or isn't, set by task, but we're in this situation.
I'm really comfortable with being unsettled this time of year, to be quite honest with
you.
It's about talent acquisition.
We got two main means of acquiring talent,
free agency and the draft.
We multitask, we do both.
Those needs that we fulfill in free agency,
we do so there and when we don't,
we fulfill it in the draft.
And so I just learned over the years
that this time of year, although day to know, day to day to be somewhat uncomfortable
It is a process
Hey
Sound like a politician, don't you see how he's sweating?
He's like, well, you got no point back
Yeah, yeah
Everything he said it sounds good. It sounds beautiful, but in order to compete in this league,
regardless of what team you are, there's 32 of them, you need a quarterback.
Absolutely.
Then there's a reason why they make and command the salary that they do.
There's nothing you can do without a quarterback.
And ever since Ben Roethlisberger has been gone, even on the tail end of his career,
where things weren't really that good.
They've been down the vine.
Yeah.
They should, yeah, they were signed,
that there was slippage and they didn't want to see it.
No.
Right.
Well, no, I think they saw it,
but they didn't want to upset him,
similar to how they upset Ann Roethlisberger,
similar to how they upset Brett Farr. Against what? They didn't want to do that. Similar to how they upset Aaron Rodgers. Similar to how they upset Brett Farr.
Against what?
They didn't want to do that.
In the process of upsetting him, guess what you had?
You had another 10 years or 12 years of prosperity
being able to be competitive.
Right.
The same thing with Aaron Rodgers.
You got Jordan Love and then boom.
And you had to be competitive.
You've got to, especially when you see the slippage.
Now I don't agree with what coach
Belichick did with Tom Brady. That's a totally different incident because Tom Brady was still going to Super Bowl.
They were still playing in the L.T. Championship.
Right. But in this situation,
it's totally different. And Mike Thomas says he's comfortable with Mason Rudolph being the team's starting quarterback next season.
That's why we brought him back. I'm comfortable with that. We've been there before. He's very capable. If you think
about what he said, what did he say, Ocho? We brought him back. Why the hell you let him go?
Yeah, you know, listen, it's just a head coach. You got to say all the right things. You have to say
all the right things. Remember, I just, we just talked about it. You said you like when people tell you the truth. Now this man, hold on, hold on, wait
a minute.
He's just lying.
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. What did Ocho say last night?
You ain't even let me finish. I was just getting ready to give you that example of what Mr.
Haslam just said in telling the truth, saying that we missed and that we got on the, on the, on the next hand,
we got Mike Tomlin giving us a lie. Don't tell me the beautiful lie. Tell me the truth. We don't
have a quarterback right now. We don't. I should, I should be unsettled. You shouldn't be comfortable
right now because you haven't had a quarterback in a while. And in order to compete in the AFC North and to get back to the historic run that the Steelers
are known for winning championships, you need a goddamn quarterback.
That's it.
You know, that's why I say you sound like a politician.
What do politicians do most?
The best.
What are they best at?
Lying to the people, getting you to believe
in what they're saying, knowing it's not the truth.
And I'm a fan of the Steelers, because I love them.
The Steelers fans love me and I love the playoffs.
But you need a quarterback in order to compete.
That's it.
Man, he's sweating. Mike Thomas was sweating like somebody on the Maury Povey show.
You are the father.
He's got him by the door.
Look, I get it.
But if Mason Rudolph was the guy, they would have never let him left the building.
Name a quarterback that they let lead the building
if he's supposed to be the guy he's capable.
Why they do that, don't you?
And you know what this tells you?
Do you know what this tells you?
This tells you how hard it is to come by good quarterbacks.
Good.
So it's good. Wait, Rex Grossman got the Bears
to the Super Bowl. Yeah. We just need somebody good. Yeah, I don't think you can do that
now. Don't burn the Buffalo over and make the play. Just defensively. They'll make the
uh, I don't think that. We talk about the Steelers, we talk about the Steelers, huh?
Yeah. What is the identity for the Steelers? They're what?
Defense.
I'm not saying they're the Steel goddamn curtain, but they're known for their defense.
If you don't have a quarterback and nobody's gonna compete week in and week out, your defense
has to play up the par.
But I'm just trying to...
Ain't no quarterback walking through that room right now that's gonna change the franchise.
Ain't no Joe Burrow, ain't no Lamar Jackson.
You have a 41, 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers that might be your quarterback and you don't know what you're
gonna get from him week to week. You don't even know if he gonna show up the
minicow. He said good quarterback. What good quarterback you know teams let walk
out? I mean you let Russ lead the building, you let Justin Fields lead the
building for Mason
Rudolph?
Justin Fields, Russ are no longer there.
And you say the best option for the Steelers moving forward was Mason Rudolph?
Absolutely not.
That's why I say he lying like a politician.
He lying like the president.
They promise you everything.
And when it's time to show up and get it done,
it's crickets.
Now you putting all that pressure on Mason Rudolph
and Aaron Rodgers doesn't come.
Oh, you stuck.
Not only are you stuck,
now you put the onus on Mason Rudolph
to back up everything you said.
Man, ain't nobody holding a mic to him because everybody done saw, Now you put the owners on Mason Rudolph to back up everything you said But anybody know I know I don't like Tomlin that cuz everybody that's all we don't saw a large enough sample size for Mason
Rudolph, we know what he is
But we know what he is all of a sudden. He ain't finna turn into no no he ain't finna have no season like uh
Anybody I shouldn't say you've got because, nobody thought Sam Darnold was going
to have the season that he had.
So.
Who didn't?
Who didn't?
Man, the Pope, man, listen, listen, the Pope, rest his soul, could have been the quarterback
for the Minnesota Vikings and did what Sam Darnold did last year with Jordan Addison,
Hodgson, and God damn Justin.
Yeah, I would have said that had I not seen, had I not seen Sam Darnall did last year with Jordan Addison, Hodgson and God damn Justin.
Yeah, I would have said that had I not seen Sam Darnall.
Had I not seen Sam Darnall, I might have believed you.
Oh, we talk about it obviously.
I tell you what, quarterback is only good as the port and can.
It takes a village and when a village is good, the port and can. All right.
It takes it takes a village and when a village is good,
it can hide a lot of your weaknesses.
True.
But guess what?
Last two games of season, he reverted back to the same guys to throw to.
How you look?
Expectations change.
Yo Cho, well you ain't got no expectations, it's kind of like, it's kind of like, hey, you start seeing this girl, she start seeing this guy,
and y'all ain't got no expectations. You doing you, you doing, she doing her. Now all of
a sudden y'all come together, and now you have expectations. Oh, where you been at?
See, if you ain't got no expectations,
don't nobody ask where you been.
You call it, oh, it is what it is, hey.
Yeah.
Hey.
We call it complications.
I'm just saying.
I'm one of them guys, you know, love is like an eclair.
Once it goes cold, it can't be reheated.
Man, wait a minute.
Man, you.
Well, you think you're slick, right?
Go ahead and get that to me again.
I'm gonna use a hotel pen and paper.
You know what it is, love is like an eclair.
Once it goes cold, it can't be reheated.
Woohoo!
Ooh, that's a good one.
That is a good one.
Yes, it is.
Hey. I got it, I got it.
Here's the thing, Hocho. See if it's like good one. Yes are Hey, I got it. I got it. Here's the thing. Hold your
See if it's like this here, I mean even like this so I can sleep it through that crack
but just right you
And the separation gives just gets further and further. Uh-huh
Uh-huh
I
I I'm just saying don't you I'm just saying hey, you listen I
Just say it don't you I'm just saying
Me you listen you got here. I had it. You know we take a break. Okay? Yeah, I'm not I'm not responsible for whatever happens on this break
Yes, sir
Yes, sir. That's right. That's why I don't take breaks Man, don't try it. Hey, I was like, hold on
Took a break You know, I do it me. It's doing you right talk talk to me now. Come on now
She got mad because I was seeing I said, hold on we're not together, but I thought you would go right
So you thought I was gonna wait while you do you?
Wait, wait, wait, what?
Wait, who?
She.
Hey, wait, baby.
I was playing them down.
I ain't wait on nothing.
Hey, I call.
I call and catch a ride.
That's how quick I was trying to get to where I was going.
Don't you?
Isn't what you ain't faster than me.
Huh? Wait for, wait for who? Wait for what?
You know how long we've been in the game, huh?
I'm out the game.
Oh, I'm out the game too.
I'm out with you.
I don't know what you're waiting for.
You laughing.
I ain't got time to play.
What did I tell you about that mountain?
20s wasted them.
30s wasted them.
40s wasted them. 40s wasted them. 40s wasted them. 40s wasted them. 40s wasted them. You laughing? I ain't got time to play. What did I tell you about that mountain?
20s wasted them. 30s wasted them. 40s wait. Oh boy I'm about to go on the other side of the mountain.
You think I'm finna play? What I told you about choosing who choose you.
Are you right about that now?
What now? I ain't got time to play. What I told you 2026 I'm gonna be what?
Married. Right got time to play what I told you 2026. I'm gonna get I'm gonna be what Mary
Man you'll be and you'll be a fool if you think I'm not you see what happened to everybody else that has gotten married Do you see the blessings that have been bestowed upon these individuals that are getting married? Well, I bet you know
I'm gonna do that then
Wait, you made it. I see what happened to her. I see what happened to LeBron and Kobe rest. It's low
He got mad Jordan got mad Josh
Alright, let me go to uh, what's the dating sites? What's some dating sites?
Now you only know dating sites. You know, you only know dating site you see, huh? Hey
You see you see how to put my band back on I'm practicing. Oh you practice it
You see you see how to put my band back on I'm practicing. Oh you're practicing
I'm from practice. I'm practicing. I'm practicing
practicing I think I'm thinking about popping a question maybe about
Maybe in the summertime in the summertime
The only question I'm asking is hey, how much how much y'all paying me? That's the only question I've been asking. I don't know what you talking about.
Hold on, wait, who gonna pay you?
I don't know, I'm gonna get me a job.
Hell, I gotta get some jobs like you.
Oh, yeah, I got pretty lemon in there.
Oh, Joe, Tyreek Hill and Miami Dawkins
seemingly patched things up after the rough end
into the season, but he posted some cryptic emojis
in response to trade speculation. Reek posted a cryptic emojis in response to trade speculation.
REEK posted a handful of cryptic posts responding to trade speculation.
Peace sign.
Why doesn't he just officially ask for trade?
You think Tyreek is happy in Miami?
I mean, I would think so.
I think he's happy with the weather. I think he's is happy in Miami. I mean, I would think so. I think he's happy with the weather.
I think he's happy with no taxes.
I don't think he's quite happy
with his quarterback situation.
Yeah, punk man, that's a tough one.
That's a tough one.
Because didn't Tyreek just lead the NFL, what?
Not just what, two years ago?
Yeah, not just past year,
but the year before he led the league and received it.
Yeah, with the same quarterback, right?
Yes.
Same quarterback, so it shouldn't be an issue.
It shouldn't be an issue.
And what's been the issue with the quarterback?
Oh, he's been injured.
Oh, okay, okay.
I see what you're saying.
That's tough, that's tough.
I'm not sure how Tyreek is feeling.
I've talked to him on numerous occasions,
but I like to stay away from stuff like that,
especially seeing dudes in the off season.
I don't want to, they don't want to talk about no football.
They got to do it all the goddamn time.
So I think for me, the situation is good.
I would love to be in Miami.
I would love to be in Miami and hope that Tua can stay upright
this upcoming year.
He can stay healthy.
And we know what Tua can do with Tyreke and Waddle
if he's upright and healthy.
And that's been the main issue.
It's hard, Ojo, when the quarterback is injured frequently
and getting timing with a quarterback.
You got one week.
So I got three weeks with Tyra.
I got three weeks with, with Tua.
Then I got a week, maybe two weeks with another guy.
Then I got seven weeks with Tua.
Then I got another two, three weeks.
Ocho, it's hard.
You know, it's hard to build chemistry with, you know, think about what it took for
you to get on the same page
with Carson. Carson yeah. And I don't care what you you're not gonna get on that same page
because you and Carson y'all there was a look that you could give Carson and Carson
and we knew what to do. We knew what to do. Yeah. That came from years and years.
Practice, being in the game, he understand that you run certain route
the way you oh oh Chol you're leaning he bout to break
I'm a throw it but I cuz I know he bout to break. I know he bout to snap this off
Oh, oh, I see if he better come he bout to put that foot in the dirt. He bout to come right back to me
There's a third thing and you know, oh, he's gonna throw this ball this cover. Oh, yeah, I'm getting this one. Mm-hmm
You already oh, I'm getting this one. I don't care what was called.
I'm getting this ball.
I'm getting this ball.
Oh, he throwing at me.
It's Julie Stewart Banks.
I'm doing a new podcast from iHeart Podcasts
and the National Hockey League.
And I'm paired up with one of my favorite players,
the always quotable Nate Thompson.
I wore nine NHL sweaters
and I have story after story to share.
And believe it or not, I have plenty to say and not just about hockey.
Believe me, he does.
Energy Line with Nate and JSB is the name of the podcast and it's going to be, well,
it's going to be quite the ride.
We're officially line mates, Nate.
We're the Energy Line.
We'll have plenty of folks join us, current players, some of my former teammates, Hall
of Famers, and wait to see some of the connections that Julie has.
She has quite the Rolodex.
Okay, we'll lean into Nate's playing experience and tap into our interests away from hockey
and try to do what Energy Lines are supposed to do, provide an emotional boost.
How do you feel about all that, Nate?
I'm vibing, Julie.
I'm ready to roll.

I picked up the phone and my thought was this is the most important phone call I'll ever make in my life.
I couldn't believe it. I mean, Brendan, it was divine intervention.

Hey, it's Alec Baldwin. This season on my podcast, Here's the Thing, I speak with California
Governor Gavin Newsom.
I watch Fox. I pay attention to Newsmax, One American News. I don't turn my back to the
critics, but there is a sort of California derangement syndrome out there
that is just sort of ridiculous.
This notion that this is the only state that has challenges.
It's just comedic, but it's damaging.
We record-breaking tourism last year. We have a surplus again.
We have a state with population growing. Again, you wouldn't know that.
That's not prevalent. It's not part of the discussion.
It's been engulfed by the fires.
It's been engulfed in the fires. It's, you know, it's a failed state, you know,
California, but for me, you know, it's a pride for me again,
as a guy who lives here and cares about the state is to make a case a new for
it. And I'm a little Clintonian about it. There's nothing wrong with it.
It can't be fixed by what's right with it.

During an appearance on Bill Fomore Podcast,
Brock Purdy said he felt fatigued,
played a big role in the 49ers' drop to 6 and 11 last season.
Last year, man, guys were tired.
That season is no joke.
And when you go from July to training camp and everything and all the way to the end
of February, and then you really get five weeks off, so until you've got to report back
and then you're going to, you're going at it again, guys are tired.
They're still beat up.
Their bodies.
Is that a valid excuse, or Joe? Again, guys are tired. They're still beat up. They're bodies.
Is that a valid excuse, or Joe? Nah, they weren't tired.
That wasn't, they weren't tired.
I can tell you why their record was what it was,
because of injuries.
I can tell you that.
That's why it looked the way it did last year.
It hadn't done with being tired.
Well, she's still be exhausted.
I don't even know how to cheat.
I don't even know how to cheat holding up.
Hey.
Because they've been in five Super Bowls
in the last six years.
Yeah.
They've gone to the AMC championship game every year.
Every year.
So if y'all are tired from that,
I don't even know how to cheat.
I don't even know how to cheat holding up, Ocho. I don't.
Honestly, I don't. I mean, I understand what Brock is saying, but no.
Everybody's tired at that point, especially depending on how far you make it into the postseason.
Everybody's tired. Everybody's injured.
I don't like...
Ocho, let's just say for the sake of argument. You and I, we're arguing.
Uh-huh.
Why would you even say that?
Do gods understand how that when they say things that seems like you're making excuses?
Oh.
Do they understand how people look at it?
Like you're making excuses. Do they understand how people look at it? Like you're making excuses.
Right. But also, see this is what I talked about too also, you want players
telling the truth now. Remember I said that? I wish players would be more
honest on how they truly feel instead of always being goddamn politically
correct. Now we're getting players that are telling the truth on how they truly
feel and we're chastising them for it for not being robots and being police.
I don't want players telling the truth.
So you like Macmillan saying that he don't like watching film and he doesn't study film.
Oh no no no no no no.
That's what you just said.
You said you want players telling the truth.
Yeah.
You can't have it both ways.
You just said you like players telling the truth.
Macmillan told the truth.
He doesn't like studying film.
He doesn't watch film alone
because he watches every group at practice.
So you okay with that?
No, I'm not.
Why not?
He told the truth.
You asked me a question.
I answered the question.
I want people to be a little bit more honest sometimes.
Okay, he was honest,
but you're not okay with that honesty.
I ain't like that honesty. No, I ain't like that one.
Oh lord.
You gotta pick and choose what you're saying now.
That's my point, Joe. You just made my point. Pick and choose. In this situation, why would
you make an excuse? Hey, it didn't work. We didn't play our best football. That's on me.
I've gotta play better better guys around me.
Got to play better.
So even when guys get injured, we lost some key players, but guys that come in,
we're plenty good enough with the guys that we had to replace, even if you don't
believe that because they don't make it up for Christian McCaffrey, you ain't got
nobody that guy's an offensive player of the year.
Yeah.
He was in the MVP discussion.
See, hey, big trick, but hey, guys have to come in and do their job. Nobody that guy's an offensive player of the year. Yeah, he was in the MVP discussion. See hey big truck
But hey guys have to come in and do their job when the starters go down. That's why you're in that position
Bro, don't give me that we were tired. What the hell you think Kansas City was
Kansas City had gone they went back to back Super Bowl and went to the third Super Bowl
So they should have been exhausted yeah and remember Ocho the year before
they went to the championship game and the year before that they went to the
Super Bowl
and you know what though now man that I don't, man. That, I don't know, just everybody,
everybody sound like some damn robots.
Everybody would sound like some robots.
I mean, that's basically what the NFL sounds like in general.
You listen to quarterbacks talk,
you listen to certain players talk.
Everything is the same, it's the same thing.
Same story, same answer, same everything.
So you like the excuse-making?
No, I didn't, no, I'm just saying, I'm just saying it.
So what was that, so tell me what that was.
Oh, that was the excuse about being tired?
Oh. Yeah.
I don't get to, I don't, listen.
No, that's what he said,
so you okay with the excuse-making?
Well, that's how he felt.
I didn't, man, listen, he's telling the truth
on how he felt. Okay, I felt we went listen, he's telling the truth on how he felt.
Okay, I felt we went 6-11 or whatever it may have been
because we were tired.
Well, to me, based on what I saw,
it had nothing to do with me being tired.
I saw how happy goddamn team depleted.
How you?
Out.
Trim Williams out.
Christian McCaffrey out.
Okay, there you go.
Three goddamn stars out.
That's why you had six and 11.
I can tell you that.
I don't...
Whoo, I just don't get these guys, man.
Everything, everything shouldn't...
You don't have to say everything.
Yeah.
Hey, sometimes you gotta be real up, man.
Oh my goodness.
Hey, that Brock Sabo, we was tired.
Ha ha ha ha.
Oh, man, I used to, hey listen,
I used to go to school, man.
You wanna know what tired is on?
I used to walk 12 miles uphill both ways to go to school, man. You wanna know what time it is? I used to walk 12 miles uphill both ways to go to school.
Now I was tired.
Somebody was tired, man, it's true.
Well, football is recreation, that's fun.
May I just, look, there are ways that you can say things
and to get your point across and and and
With these guys now But I look see I can tell the people and that's in the chat
Oh Joe that's never been a part of a team like because they want to say anything because they don't care
Because at the end of the day when you're a part of a team, you just can't say
anything. You just can't do anything because it's for the betterment of the
team. When you're an individual, now Serena, we want to say she was tired.
Okay. That's Serena. She ain't got nobody to fill in for.
Right. Tiger Woods wanted to say he was tired. Well, that's fine.
But when you are part of a team, you understand.
Right. And a lot of times people have never been a part of a team or part of a
winning team.
There's a difference between the two.
Yeah?
Go back and study my track record.
Talk to him, huh?
I know.
Curb Asian Doll, I know that's why I'm single.
I'm okay with being single.
Wait, what?
It seems like you're not okay with being single.
Hold on, what was the name?
It seems like, it seems like Elcho.
You know what it seems like?
It seems like everybody got a problem
with me being single, but me.
And who said I was single?
Who's the one that said that?
You got you somebody?
I don't remember saying anything.
Hold on.
You got you somebody and ain't tell nobody? I've never remember saying anything. Hold on. You got you somebody and they ain't tell nobody?
I've never told anybody anything.
I don't say yay or nay.
OK.
I just let people talk.
Oh, let me tell you.
It's better that way.
Because I like when people say, well, I thought this was this.
OK.
Man, I ain't know you.
I didn't know I was supposed to make an announcement.
I just tried to figure out, so what I supposed to tell people to make an announcement.
I mean, I would, listen, I been trying to hook you up
with somebody for damn near three years now.
And you, I would lie.
I ain't got no flat time while you trying to hook me up.
You a co-trunk?
Ah!
Hey, boy, hey, hey, you saw what I what I what I sent you earlier today.
I saw that man.
Well, listen, you know, I don't go nowhere.
But I told you to 20.
I told you 2025.
I'm not playing.
I'm going out.
I'm stepping out.
You did to get back.
You did to get you did to get back.
You didn't get your ass back inside.
Why would happen? You need to get back, you need to get, you need to get back, you need to get your ass back inside. Why, what happened?
You just need to be inside.
No, we still got, how many more months we got
before 20, 25 is up?
Nine.
So we got nine more months of me being outside
and nine more months of me putting on clothes.
But listen, let me finish.
Go ahead.
I went out, I went out Saturday.
I went to a little place, a nice little lounge.
I don't really go nowhere, so I'm excited.
I'm like, yeah, a little lounge in Broward called Cisha.
They were very nice, you know, they played some good music, good oldies too.
Good oldies, 80s, 90s.
I like that.
They played Minkin' Dishon.
I ain't heard this song from Mink condition since 1994
Please tell you please tell me on remember the song so fine
Yeah, oh
Hey, I was so rude. I told the DJ I had him running back three times on damn
I swear I had him running back three times. I ain't heard it in so long and it sounded so good. Then the day
The day I went to I went to something in and in Broward called BB Sundays. Oh, they was in there cutting up
You hear me? What it yeah. Oh, yeah, there was a
appearance, huh
You need me to come down there make a guest appearance man. They told me that many
Dog, they told me to ask you slim cat
I know you're gonna see this oh he told me man tell come on down here cuz what
I sent you it's like all over this just look just like that
Oh I'm trying to be good I'm just trying to I'm trying to look hey you got
a home you got a kind of man let the people in Miami see, y'all. Yeah, it's okay.
You ain't gotta...
Come on.
Hey, I can take you to Tootsies.
You hear me? No.
I can take you to Booty.
I don't wanna go no place like that.
Wait, I can take you to Booby Trap.
Uh-uh.
Well, are you gonna cut a mime?
What are you gonna do? Take me to Booty Trap.
No, Booby Trap.
Booty. Yeah, that's where you get it from. You gooty trap. No, booby trap. Booty.
Yeah, that's where you get it from.
You go to booby trap, you get the booty.
Nah, nah.
I'm done with you, man.
Man, the Jeff G.
We believe Justin is the starter.
We believe in Justin.
We believe we can win with Justin.
We're excited about Justin's potential.
Phil's 26 will follow Aaron Rodgers,
who went six and 12 in two years as the starter.
Fields went four and two in his six starts last season,
throwing five touchdowns with an interception.
The Jets signed Fields to a two-year deal,
hoping he can prove their long-term starter.
You like the GM showing confidence?
I love that he came out and said this.
Justin has done, he's had to deal with enough.
He had to deal with enough when he was in Chicago.
Them letting him go, not believing in him.
Him going to the Steelers, him getting the job because Russell got injured.
Right.
Then when Russell gets back, the job of taking away from him.
So they have to hear the GM over the Jets say, you are our starter.
And now you have nothing to worry about. You don't have to look over your shoulder so you can just go play football.
Agree.
The main thing is the main thing now.
The ball is in your court.
You have a chance to solidify yourself
as a starting quarterback for the New York Jets
based on your play.
And if it doesn't work out the way it should,
it's nobody else's fault except your own.
Yeah.
I don't know who the OC is, Ocho.
I think the thing is people looking at the Jets,
like look at the team,
look at the players that have left the jazz
and the success they've had.
Look at Gino, look at Sam Darnall.
Now the difference is,
look at what Gino was throwing to in Seattle.
Look at what Sam Darnall was throwing to.
Now, are y'all gonna give him,
are y'all gonna give Justin Fields those type of weapons?
I mean, they need one more if they wanna add one,
because you already have one in Garrett Wilson who was able to win he had a
hell of a hell of a goddamn rookie season and things kind of tapered off
after that but we know what he can do if you're able to give him the ball you put
him in positions to make some of the plays that other players are getting
opportunities to make around the league you know what you can do with that so we
had the draft coming up I mean I think all off-season
acquisitions or moves have been made to date so far. Brock Purdy says he's about
about 40% of the time he's not able to see his intended target on throws down
field due to the size of the alignment in front of him. He talked about how
important it is knowing coverage is scheme and knowing where his receivers
are supposed to be. How common is is this is this typical for quarterbacks who aren't very tall? Yeah. Yeah
Huh all the time drew breeze
They may be Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson, I'm the throw between the linemen. You have to find that's what they call it throwing lanes
Yeah, and you got it and you have to anticipate as well. Yes. I
Mean, it's been remember Doug Flutie. Yeah, Doug Flutie played. Yes
Well, I'm turning who don't you think what you think Kyler Murray sees? Oh man
That's I couldn't I couldn't think of it. Kyler Murray. Hey, how's the time? He probably looking at a lot of an ass
Kyle Murray. Hell, half the time, he probably looking at a lot of ass.
Who else is short, huh?
Who else?
I know everybody.
Kyle Murray, Kyle, Drew was short, Baker Mayfield is short.
Sure.
Russell Wilson.
Yeah, I said Russ.
Trying to think who else.
Who was?
Oh yeah, two is not that tall.
Bryce Young?
Okay, Bryce is short.
Yeah, Bryce is in that boat too.
But you know what, Ocho?
I'd say that if I got 50 million.
Yeah, I wouldn't have said it before.
I ain't been up it.
But anyway, listen, the fact that he did say it,
he's still in a good position anyway,
because he's already put in a small sample size of work.
Well, he gonna get his money anyway, regardless.
But the fact that you've been able to do what you've done,
even though you couldn't see 40% of the time,
I mean, it can work in your favor too.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, look, Mike Vick wasn't the tallest,
Johnny Manziel wasn't tall.
No, not at all.
Not at all.
How tall is Herx?
It's not like Herx, six five.
He's probably average height, probably six one.
Yeah, Jayden got a little height.
Six one, how tall is that? Jay Daniels?
Jane tall you buy six three. Yeah, but oh Joe, but he's six one his office in line is six six
Yeah, who can see it over?
Yeah, you right. Well, you know one once you drop back
Be Josh Allen. Yeah
You got to think also in today's game, especially with the offense that, that,
that we're seeing and we're seeing now, most of the time, quarterbacks in the gun.
Yeah, for sure.
Most of the time quarterbacks in the gun. So you're already at an advantage if you are short quarterback anyway, then that
all, all comes down to you processing and having anticipatory skills and when to
get the ball out and hoping you receive us.
It's Julie Stewart Banks.

We're officially line mates, Nate.
We're the Energy Line.
We'll have plenty of folks join us, current players, some of my former teammates,
Hall of Famers, and wait to see some of the connections that Julie has.
She has quite the Rolodex.
Okay, we'll lean into Nate's playing experience
and tap into our interests away from hockey
and try to do what Energy Lines are supposed to do,
provide an emotional boost.
How do you feel about all that, Nate?
I'm vibing, Julie.
I'm ready to roll.

Intervention. This is a story about radical nuns in combat
boots and wild haired priests trading blows with J. Edgar
Hoover in a hell bent effort to sabotage a war.
J. Edgar Hoover was furious somebody violated the FBI and he wanted
to bring the Catholic left to its knees. The FBI went around to all their
neighbors and said to them, do you think these people are good Americans? It's got
heists, tragedy, a trial of the century, and the god-damnedest love story you've
ever heard. I picked up the phone and my thought was this is the most famous love story you've ever heard. I picked up the phone and my thought was,
this is the most important phone call I'll ever make in my life.
I couldn't believe it. I mean, Brendan, it was divine intervention.

Hey, it's Alec Baldwin.
This season on my podcast, Here's the Thing, I speak with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
I watch Fox.
I pay attention to Newsmax One American News.
I don't turn my back to the critics, but there is a sort of California derangement syndrome
out there that is just sort of ridiculous.
This notion that this is the only state that has challenges, it's just comedic, but it's
damaging.
We record-breaking tourism last year.
We have a surplus again.
We have a state with population growing again.
You wouldn't know that.
That's not prevalent.
It's not part of the discussion.
It's been engulfed by the fires.
It's been engulfed by the fires.
It's a failed state, California.
But for me, it's a pride for me, again, as a guy who lives here, who cares about the
state, is to make a case anew for it.
And I'm a little clintony about it.
There's nothing wrong with it.
It can't be fixed by what's right with it.

Russell Wilson is coming to the Giants with the expectation that he'll be the starting
quarterback. In his presser, Ocho, he said, yeah, I expect to be the starter to come in here and be
ready to rock and roll every day. I think this team is really looking for somebody to lead them every way.
Is this a match made in heaven for the Giants, Ocho?
I mean, listen, remember now, Ocho, before you go, come on,
they signed, they gave Jamus two years, eight million.
Russ basically is a one year deal for ten and a half billion.
That's guaranteed.
He can make up to 21 million, but he got to win win like what he gets X amount of dollars per win or something
like that right but anyway do you see them taking a quarterback with the
third I think the third pick on this third one where they're listening I
listen I I don't I don't I don't care if they had 30 third go ahead oh yeah
listen I don't hear it I don't care they had had 30. Third. Go ahead, Ocho. Listen, I don't care if they had 37 quarterbacks on their roster right now.
They taking a quarterback come draft time because there's still no quarterback of the
future.
Now, whoever they draft at quarterback, they have somebody they can learn from and learn
behind for a year before they're put into that offense.
And depending on how the play from whoever start,
whether it's DeVito, whether it's James Winston,
whether it's Wester Wilson.
Man, DeVito, stop.
DeVito always starting.
You know damn well DeVito always starting.
Stop with that.
I'm just calling the names of the people on the roster, baby.
Let me get my point across.
But either way, it could be Chidora, it could be Cam Ward.
They might even surprise us and pick somebody else.
You never know. You know how the draft works
sometime when it comes to their decision making.
But either way, I think Russell wasn't probably
gonna be the starter.
Everywhere he goes, he's the ultimate, not only competitor,
but his approach to the game and willingness to learn
the offense and then obviously be a team player
and all that good stuff.
He says all the right stuff.
Yeah.
So there's a reason why the Giants wanted to extend
that grace to him, allow him another year.
And I'm excited.
I mean, Russell Wilson, Malik neighbors,
they still need to do something
with the F in offensive line.
Yeah.
And get another, no disrespect to brother Slayden.
Very nice receiver. You got Malik neighbors, but disrespect to brother Slayton. Very nice receiver.
You got Malik Navas, but you still need another playmaker.
The Giants-
Did they bring Slayton back?
Didn't he back?
Yeah, he back.
That's what I just said.
They still need another playmaker.
They just played Slayton, but they still need another playmaker outside of them, you know,
to go with Malik Navas and then Slayton.
That officer line, boy, is ab that officer line boy is abysmal.
It's abysmal.
Cause so you're gonna have Russell running for his life.
Outside of that, there are so many things they need to address offensively
to actually be competitive week in and week out.
Especially when you're bringing in a quarterback.
You definitely drafted a quarterback.
I don't know who it's gonna be,
whether it be Shadour, whether it be Cam Ward,
or maybe surprise to pick somebody else
you might like that you've seen.
But the other issues that need to be fixed,
and to me, I would start with that offensive line.
If I told you five years ago, this would...
Russell Wilson his career.
Would you have believed it?
Bouncing around like this, Ocho?
You wouldn't have.
No, no, probably not.
Not probably not because even me as a lover
and an enthusiast of the game and understanding of it,
the trajectory in which he was going was always, to me, he was viewed as
the top, the cream of the top, one of the elites.
But he was consistent year in and year out, year in and year out. He was consistent. He was a place of comfortability where he knew a system
and you just go in there and do what you need to do.
Year in and year out.
Now on the back end, things changed.
I wish Pete Carroll hadn't made that call.
You already know what I'm talking about.
Yeah.
And you would have had two rings under your belt.
Yeah, but I think, man, Seattle saw something.
They saw Slippery Jojo.
Okay.
Jojo's been on this his third team in 33 years.
Yeah.
That ain't no way around it,
ain't no, let's not sugarcoat it.
He's his third 13 in three years.
Right.
It's tough because you know you had you learned the Bronco system you were there
for two years you go to Pittsburgh you learned that system it's hard and harder to keep I mean you think about it it gets hard and harder to Broncos system. You were there for two years. You go to Pittsburgh. You learned that system
It's hard and harder to keep I mean you think about it. It gets hard and harder to learn a system
Yeah Even though because look at Baker once he got to what look, okay. He went to Carolina. He was in the Rams
Well, we everybody knew he wasn't gonna stay very long with the Rams right?
So the fact they had Matthew Stafford, but look at him now. He's thriving. Mm-hmm
Right. So the fact they have Matthew Stafford, but look at him now. He's thriving.
Mm hmm.
But he got, he got great complimentary players around him.
He got Mike Evans, he got Chris Garland.
He got a nice running back.
They did a great job.
Bucky Irvin.
They did a great job in the draft with the running back position.
Right.
Mike, Mike Evans is Mr.
Consistency.
Um, Chris Garland went down, but he's back.
Right.
Yeah. That, yeah.
That's why I think you're supporting the cast matters, huh?
That's why I say it all the time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes.
And yes, and for quarterback, for a quarterback that may be on the decline,
where he's not the same as he once was.
If you're a quarterback and you're not in the position and you need those players
around you to make you better, when you're not the caliber player anymore
to make them actually better,
you have to be in the right system.
Yeah.
The right supporting cast and everything will take off.
It's hard to hide your weaknesses
when those around you ain't that good.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's very hard to hide your weaknesses.
Yeah, cause I'm gonna make you play to it.
Yeah. Hey. Yeah, cause I'm gonna make you play to it.
Hey. Yeah, but man.
That's what makes the Eagles so difficult.
Yeah.
Cause if you take Saquon away,
you got two guys outside that can make you pay.
You gotta deal with it, yeah.
So now what do they do?
They're like, we just go play zone
because you can't run the football
with what you got behind you, Patrick Mahone, you can't run the football with what you got behind you Patrick home
You can't run the football right right? So now they say you know what a
Kansas City say no say quiet we're gonna let you do we let you run outside the building right?
Her says okay, I'll throw down the building. Oh
holis
That's the thing. It's it's it's not that complicated
It's really not you try to take away what the strength is,
and if somebody beats you with what,
this is okay, you just give them credit.
I mean, if I'm in Kansas City,
you go to the mill and feel,
say, hey man, Jalen, congrats man, good game.
You gotta live with that.
You gotta live with it.
Because if Saquon had run everybody else out of the building,
he didn't run you out of the building.
Jalen already did what he needed to do.
He didn't throw for 300 yards, but he was accurate.
And he made you pay.
Every time.
Oh Joe, the Patriots signed Stephon Diggs three years.
Contract worth up to 69 million.
Diggs is 31 years of age, working his way back
from a torn ACL.
Mike Grable is all in on Diggs saying,
yeah, just trying to make sure we're supporting Drake and supporting the football team.
And again, this is a highly competitive company receiver that's produced throughout his career
and multiple ways, play and style.
He's got to play strength to him and he sees that he can play physical, you know, route,
craft good, run out the catch, and has good in the red zone.
And there's a play style to him
That's always appreciated and that's what we want to continue in the hands and make sure that he's doing things to help us
Mm-hmm. I like are you surprised that he got that length of deal that kind of deal coming up?
That's yeah. No, absolutely not. No because no I wasn't surprised because
They were in need of a playmaker of this magnitude, even
with Stefan Diggs coming off ACL.
I understand.
Rabel understands.
Robert Kraft understands.
And I tweeted it out.
I'm not sure if people in the chat can pull up a tweet that I said right before he even
got signed.
When he went on the visit, I said something to the likes of one leg, two legs, no legs
at all.
Make sure he leaves that building with the deal.
Not only I'm talking about the competitor that he is and the ability for him to be able to get open and manipulate defenses,
even if he doesn't play on the outside, even if he plays on the inside.
That's a target that Drake may needs that he can be relying on during football season.
There's enough time from now with him rehabbing, because I've already seen some
drills with Stephon out there working already, and I'm seeing how far he's come so far.
I saw him squatting, but I was surprised.
I thought somebody would make a proven deal.
One year.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Ocho, one year, $15 million with a chance to make $20, $25 million. Yeah, you know what? You know what I'm saying? Oh Joe one year 15 million dollars with a chance to make 20 25 million, right?
But who knows we haven't seen the intricacies of this deal. It might be a one-year deal
Right disguised as a three-year deal, right because we saw T Higgins deal and basically it's a one-year deal. Okay
Yeah, oh
Yeah
I like it though. I'll especially oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like it though. I like it especially.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Veteran receiver, good to me.
To me, some people probably won't like it.
I think a good locker room presence,
especially for the receivers, for Drake may,
he may be able to converse and learn from digs
on some of the things when it comes to the route running
and processing information and understanding what he sees
and what he may see and how things, you know.
Yeah, back to the ATV, Rodney Rogers got paralyzed.
You remember Rodney Rogers, the Wake Fars,
great talented player Denver Nuggets.
He got, I think he was in Phoenix at the time,
but he ended up getting paralyzed on one.
He was a hell of a player, Ocho.
Rodney Rogers, left-handed with the Wake Fars.
He might've been player of the year in the ACC.
Look that up, Ash.
He was a hit, Ocho.
I'm talking about conjunct, I mean, he was,
I'm talking about, he was built like a football player.
And, y'all remember Rodney Rogers?
So he looked, Jimmy Fallon,
he looked like Larry Johnson, basically.
Oh, he was thinking of, he was, oh no, Ocho.
I'm talking about grandma, I'm talking about grandma.
He looked like a taffle
He would that be?
Yes, he was ACC player of the year. Oh Joe with the ACC when the Carolinas it and they were loaded back there
Yeah, what
Yeah, he was uh, uh, there's another one guy, Williams, the boxer.
He ended up being trained.
He took Paul.
Paul Williams.
Yeah.
Hey, Paul took, Paul took about,
Paul threw about 2000 punches around, man.
Paul was enjoying the watch.
Paul, he was huge.
He was a big ass well to weight.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah, excuse me. Big, big, big, big.
Hey, yeah, I like Paul. I just wish, I wish, you guys. Oh yeah, oh yeah, excuse me. Big, big, big, big. Hey, yeah, I like home.
I just wish, I wish, you guys like, yeah, yeah.
I just, just guys, just be careful.
That's all I'm saying, Ocho.
Cause I don't wanna see guys mess up their careers.
Look, have fun.
My mindset was just different.
Once I got that money, I said, you know what?
I'm gonna make this money as long as I can.
Now once my career is over, cause your careerinkle me over in the mid-30s anyway

Mookie. Yeah, everybody everybody don't want. Everybody don't want to live like that, man.
Everybody's not gonna have that mindset.
People want to be free.
People want to enjoy themselves
without thinking of the negatives of what could happen
or what if this happens.
They just want to enjoy themselves,
especially at this age,
especially in this era we in now.
It's just different.
There's so many things to do,
so many things you can enjoy.
But listen, I totally agree with you, I understand,
but I'd rather than be safe and free,
or doing things confined in areas
that they shouldn't be doing.
Well, if you feel that way, like I say, bless the heart.
What's up everyone.

Hey, it's Alec Baldwin. This past season on my podcast, Here's the Thing, I spoke with more actors, musicians, policymakers, and so many other fascinating people, like writer and actor Dan Aykroyd. I love writing more than anything. You're left alone.
You know, you do three hours in the morning,
you write three hours in the afternoon,
go pick up a kid from school,
and write at night, and after nine hours,
you come out with seven pages,
and then you're moving on.
