Starting point is 00:03:12 best first round games. One of the best first round series. Yeah, it was 4-1, but for the most part, the games came down. Jamal Murray, two game winners. Game 2 and Game 5. The Nuggets win 108-106. Jamal Murray had 32 points, seven assists.
Starting point is 00:03:28 And I mentioned the game winner, Nikola Jokic, 25 points, 20 rebounds, nine assists, one assist away from a triple-double. And Michael Porter Jr., 26 points, big shot after big shot after big shot. LeBron had 30 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds, four steals. the big shot. LeBron had 30 points, 11 assists, 9 rebounds, 4 steals. Alistair Reeves, 19 points, 4 assists. And D-Lo had
Starting point is 00:03:49 17 points on 8 of 11, 15 rebounds, 4 assists. But we saw him get injured early in the third quarter and really they just needed his presence because he didn't really score any points after that and he wasn't the factor that the Lakers needed
Starting point is 00:04:06 him to be in the second half. But give the Nuggets credit. The Lakers were the best clutch team in basketball, Ocho. Last five minutes of the ballgame, game within five. Are we still on mute? Yeah, I can't hear you. Ocho said,
Starting point is 00:04:21 oh yeah. Chad can't hear. Chad is having technical difficulties. Guys, if you think about it, the Lakers were the best clutch team in basketball. The last five minutes of the ball game, game within five. And they got beat by a team tonight that executed down the stretch. And if you're trying to win ball games like this on the road, you can't go 18 or 27 from the foul line.
Starting point is 00:04:46 This is two games. In both situations, Aaron Gordon out-wrestles two Lakers for the rebound. He kicked one in game two to Michael Porter Jr., who drains a three. He out-rebounded. He took the ball away from LeBron and D-Lo. You got to have that if you want to win on the road. It's a nip-tuck ball game. He kicks it out.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Murray hits another three. Those are the type of plays that you have to make on the road if you want to win. And the Lakers normally make those plays. That's why they're the best. Was one of the best. There was the best team in clutch situation. All of that doesn't matter now. The Nuggets advance. Jamar
Starting point is 00:05:25 Murray was sensational when he absolutely had to be. Nikola Jokic was yoked. And Michael Porter Jr. hit big shot after big shot after big shot. LeBron, 30 points, 11 assists, one rebound away from a triple-double. Four steals, Austin Reeves 19 points, four assists. AD
Starting point is 00:05:41 17 points on 8 of 11, 15 rebounds, four assists. The Nuggets beat 8 of 11, 15 rebounds, four assists. The Nuggets beat the Lakers on opening night. They beat the Lakers when they unveiled Kobe's statue. The Nuggets beat the Lakers when LeBron became the first player to score 40,000 points. And the Nuggets beat the Lakers to end their season. Ocho, I thought the Lakers had him. I thought I was looking good.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I was looking good. You know what? It was a nail-biter. It was a nail-biter all the wayakers had him. I thought I was looking good. I was looking good. You know what? It was a nail-biter. It was a nail-biter all the way to the end. I think if one of those two rebounds towards the end of the game would have went the Lakers' way, I think the result
Starting point is 00:06:14 and the end of the game would have been different. That goddamn Murray, man, coming off that pick. Do you understand how difficult that shot was to be going to your left? To be able to lose your defender just enough to create a little space to get that shot off. But you're going left and you're shooting to the right.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Then you think, man, that's the second time he didn't hit him with the dagger at the end of the game. So, yeah. Go ahead, Ocho game so yeah go ahead i'm curious i'm curious does darvin mr ham does mr ham get fired immediately or do they run it back again i don't know if they're gonna run it back um you heard the rumblings all year long yeah that a lot of the players wasn't pleased doesn't matter a lot of players wasn't pleased with darvin but it only matters it's upper management if genie busk is pleased with darvin ham yes um that's a very tough play to guard because because ad didn't show because here's the thing if ad shows shows, Murray's going to drop the ball
Starting point is 00:07:25 off the yoke. If LeBron comes, he's going to lob it. It's going to be a dunk. Dunk, yeah. So everybody stayed on their guys. So you have KCP in one corner. You have on the same side you have Michael Porter Jr. So everybody stays. LeBron stays with his
Starting point is 00:07:41 guy. And so Rui stays with his guy. So now you're in a tough spot once he gets to once Yoke gives the help just enough where Reeves has to be around now Yoke rolls to the basket AD's in the spot
Starting point is 00:07:58 do I come, do I show or do I retreat because if I show, he's going to lob in the yoke, and when LeBron rotates, he's going to throw the lob, and Gordon's going to dunk it. So, in that situation, there's really nothing you can do. You're like, okay, you just hope he misses.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Right. And the thing about him, he doesn't miss much in the fourth quarter. Mm-hmm. If you look at his numbers, Murray was 13 of 28. At one point, he was like 9 of 20, 9 of 27. But then shot after shot after shot. And he's the type of guy, he sees it goes in.
Starting point is 00:08:38 He had it going in the first quarter, kind of cooled off, missed a lot of shots. But when it mattered the most oh joe always hitting him he money he money every time but you know it's crazy you think about it it's it's more so a new era of basketball because there's no lebron there's no katie there's no step no step curry in the second round of playoffs since 2005 So basically what we're witnessing and seeing right now in front of us is a new era of basketball. And that is crazy when you think about it because you're used to seeing these same faces and same names
Starting point is 00:09:15 in the playoffs for so long. And to not have them there is... Yeah, I don't even know how to explain it, really. Yeah, it's a change of the guard. As guys get older, you see this happen. LeBron is 39. And the thing is, is that when you're a great player, they compare you to a younger self.
Starting point is 00:09:34 So they don't give LeBron grace for being 39. It's like you're LeBron James. They don't give Kevin Durant grace for being 35. They don't give Steph Curry grace. They expect you to get it done. As long as you're on the court, there's a level of expectation for transcendent players in which these three guys are right but as i said before ocho when you go on the road you can't miss nine free throws yeah you can't get out rebounded you let aaron gordon twice yeah get the ball and kick it out and hit
Starting point is 00:10:03 and guys hit threes both times. You can't have that. The difference was when they won game four is that they got all the loose rebounds. Yeah. Tonight they didn't. Yes. A.D. was hampered. He got hit. And, you know, he's had shoulder problems. He's had subluxation, subluxation of that shoulder. And he got I mean, he got hit in the perfect spot. He got hit from behind. And I guess, you know, to say it felt like, it looks like a stinger more so than it came out of the joint.
Starting point is 00:10:32 But clearly, clearly he was in discomfort. Clearly he was not the same player from the time that happened, like he was in the first half, because in the first half he was dominant. He was on his way again to another 2020 ball game. Who knows if the outcome would have been different, but I would have liked to have seen it. But I don't want to take anything away from the Nugget
Starting point is 00:10:56 because on the night when Aaron Gordon only had seven points and KCP only had five points, but your big three, they gave you what they needed to give you. You got 57. You got 83 out but your big three, they gave you what they needed to give you. You got 57. You got 83 out of your big three. You got 83 out of your big three. They shot 42% from the floor.
Starting point is 00:11:14 They shot 42% from the three. It was 16 of what, 38? Lakers was 46. They were 28. So basically you were minus 18. Yeah, minus 18 from the three-point line. And you can't miss those free throws. You can't.
Starting point is 00:11:31 You just can't, Ocho. You can't miss those, especially when you're on the road. If you got to get every, especially in those moments. Because remember, we talked about it in football. The game's going to come down to moments. Oh, to moments. That's all it comes down to. It's going to come down to a bounce here or a's all it comes down to it's gonna come down to a bounce here or bounce there and you know it's funny i'm not i'm not saying maybe the casual
Starting point is 00:11:49 fan really might not understand you know you have a let's say how many plays let's say you run 65 70 plays a game right uh-huh it's so crazy if you really think about it it all comes down to maybe two or three plays that change the dynamic of an entire game. Out of all the plays you run, it always comes down to two or three plays. That's it. And those moments you're talking about. And what you try to do, Ocho, is you try to put yourself at separation, where
Starting point is 00:12:15 if you're the one team that you don't want to come down to those one or two plays. You don't want to come down to a missed call or a call that we should have gotten that we didn't get. So you try to rid yourself of elements, especially late in the ballgame, that could cause you to lose a ballgame. Now, if you're on the other side, you try to create those elements that's going to help you win the ballgame. And that's what it comes down to when you're trying to win ballgames on the road.
Starting point is 00:12:46 No matter what the sport is, it's the smallest of plays. They're going to look back and say, man, we had an opportunity to get a rebound right here. Right. That would have put us up. That would have put us up. We were already up because when they made the three, that put them up too.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And you didn't do it. So give the Nuggets credit. They're the world champs for a reason. They're looking to repeat that. Now, with winning this in five games, they get a long rest to let Murray's calf heal because he's dealing with a minor strain. It looks like this is going to be a long series between the Clippers and the Mavericks.
Starting point is 00:13:23 So he might have, at bare minimum, he's going to have, looks like he's going to be a long series between the Clippers and the Mavericks. So he might have a bare minimum. He's going to have looks like he's going to have somewhere between six and eight days to rest that calf to get it 100 percent. Yeah, that's that's that's enough time. There's more than enough time. More than more than enough time. Darvin Hamm has been a hell of a two years sitting in this seat. I tell you that it's been a hell of a two years. That don't sound like a man that's coming back, does it?
Starting point is 00:13:46 I mean, he probably knows already, huh? It's been a hell of a two years sitting in this seat. It's been a hell of a two years. I tell you that. It's been a hell of a two years. Does that sound like a guy that's coming back to you? No, not really. Not really.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I mean, I guess he can see the writing on the wall, unless maybe Miss Buss has told him something already ahead of time. When you have that many rumblings during the season and they always have a problem when the lakers aren't playing well they always reverse back to maybe the coach being the reason why yeah they missed a lot of lakers missed a lot of cheapness uh some blown layups lebron thought he got fouled on a couple of them uh ruiz a couple of them LeBron smoked a couple of layups and when you go on the road you just gotta find ways to win you gotta make those plays that's the difference I mean because the era
Starting point is 00:14:32 the margin of error is so small it's so small that's the difference in a game let's just say the Lakers instead of going what 18 or 27 they go 22 or 27, they go 22 of 27. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:49 The rebounds. Let's say you have two more rebounds, none more costly than the one that Aaron Gordon takes away. Again, he had another big rebound today. He had 13 rebounds. Yoke had 20 rebounds. You got to find ways to win. The Lakers don't get it done. Nuggets advance.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Congratulations to the Nuggets. Hard fought, well-earned victory, but this is why they're the world champs, and they'll be moving on to face the winner of the Mavs Clippers Series. The Celtics took care of business on the road. Oh, okay. They'll face the Timberwolves. Oh, so they'll be moving on to face the winner of the Mavs Clippers Series. The Celtics took care of business on the road. Oh, okay, they'll face the Timberwolves.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Oh, so they'll get ready. No, they're about to play soon. Oh, I thought, when the next, when the game? Okay, Saturday. Oh, they got, that's plenty of rest. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Oh, good four and a half, five days. Yeah, they good.
Starting point is 00:15:40 They good. My bad. I thought they was going to play the winner of the Clippers. No, they played the Timberwolves and that series start on Saturday. Who you got in that series? That's going to be a good one, boy. That's going to be a real good one.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Man, I want to take the Wolves, but I'm going to stick with the Nugs. I think they win. I think they win in seven. All right. All right. I'm going with the young Ant-Man, man.
Starting point is 00:16:12 You going with Ant-Man? I'm going with the young Ant-Man. Young fella rises to the occasion. Yeah. Wake up with football every morning and listen to my new podcast, NFL Daily with Greg Rosenthal. Five days a week, you'll get all the latest news, previews,

We'll talk every single game, every single week, but I can't do it alone, so I'm bringing in the big guns from NFL media. That's Patrick Claibon, Steve Weiss, Nick Shook, Jordan Rodrigue from The Athletic, and of course, Colleen Wolfe. This is their window right now. This is their Super Bowl window. Why would they trade him away? Because he would be a pivotal part of them winning that Super Bowl. I don't
Starting point is 00:17:02 know why, Colleen. Catch the podcast at NFL Daily with Greg Rosenthal every day. Subscribe today and you'll immediately be smarter and funnier than your friends. And who doesn't want that? Listen now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Celtics took their business
Starting point is 00:17:22 on the road, defeating your Miami Heat 102-88 they also received a scare when Chris Staffs Perzingas tweaked the right calf late in the second quarter Joe Mazzulla, head coach had no update for Perzingas but said Jason Tatum rolled his ankle in the fourth quarter and was moving okay
Starting point is 00:17:38 he looks fine Perzingas left the locker room wearing a walking boot following the game but posted he'll be good Ocho look I'll be getting my cheese I'll be getting my cheddar cheddar for what you talk about American or Swiss
Starting point is 00:17:55 don't worry about it I'll take Frank's I'll take De Niro I'll take Rupel whatever you want to pay me help me refresh my memory real quick so I know I can I'll take De Niro. I'll take Rupel. Whatever you want to pay me, go on. Help me refresh my memory real quick so I know I can jot it down in my notes.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Y'all see what I'm talking about? That's what I say. When I say money out of sight calls a fight, now all of a sudden he got amnesia. I'm just asking you how much it was. Don't worry about how much it was. Just put the money on the table
Starting point is 00:18:20 and let me start counting. I pick up what I think I owe and I leave the rest there. No, don't do that. Don't do that. Just tell me what I owe you. I'm going to make sure I have it for you.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Ain't no issue. Ain't no problem. Because I was really hoping that you would do it. Chad, how much you told me? The Chad probably don't even remember. Chad remember. Yeah, I was confident too
Starting point is 00:18:42 when I made that bet. I was very confident. I know you were confident. I was hoping they would shoot the way they shot in game two obviously I don't know what happened I'm not sure what happened so you they expected him to break another franchise record okay he made a franchise record so you know what let's make another franchise record threes yeah I was hoping so I mean obviously you playing at home you don't want to get swept if you're gonna get swept at least get swept in Boston don. Don't allow people to come in your house.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Like, think about it. That's like somebody coming to your house, picking up your broom, and cleaning up for you. That just don't sit right. It don't sit right. Well, y'all got one more game. We got one more game. Y'all got one more game, but it's in Boston. That's the problem.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Yeah. You got to steal. You got to steal one at home it's in Boston. That's the problem. Yeah. You got to steal. You got to steal when at home. You got to steal that when at home. Derrick White was sensational. 41 minutes tonight. 15 to 25. 8 of 15 from the 3.
Starting point is 00:19:38 35, 38 points. Jalen Brown had 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Brown shipped in with 17 holiday had 11 big al had seven off the bench they didn't get a whole lot of bench production they ran their starters tatum played 37 minutes holiday played 38 minutes uh derrick white played 41 and jaylen brown played 39 so basically they ran the starters as long as they could i think they were looking to get them out, Ocho. But then Miami made a run and got it down to like 11 or 13,
Starting point is 00:20:12 a lead that at one point in time seemed like it was like 22-24. And so they were not able to get them out of the ballgame. You watch this ballgame. What did you like about the Celtics? I mean, hell, Derrick White. Derrick White stole the show. I mean, looking at the stats, I don't think Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum really shot that well.
Starting point is 00:20:27 They didn't shoot well from the field. I mean, they didn't shoot well from the field at all. But Derek White... 5-14 and 7-18. Yeah, listen, Derek White, man, he carried the Celtics. He did. He put them on their back and went out there,
Starting point is 00:20:39 played great defense. From three, he was phenomenal. Hell, the first, what, nine minutes of the game, he had 16 points come on now you expecting that you're expecting those type of numbers from your superstars either be jaylen brown or either be jason tatum but derrick white shows up and one thing about it if you can keep up this type of consistency if derrick white can keep up this type of consistency there's a three-headed monster there now y' you need is for Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown
Starting point is 00:21:07 to play to their potential and what we know they can do consistently. Then guess who would be one of the favorites coming out of the East going to the chip? Well, they're favored right now, but the Knicks don't fear them. Ow. The Knicks don't fear them. The Knicks don't fear him. The Knicks are a tough, gritty group.
Starting point is 00:21:31 I think Andy could cause him some problems because Andy's going to push the tempo. They're going to make you get up and down. And they got Miles Turner that can play Przingis because he's basically a Przingis. He's their Przingis. But I think he's a better defender than Przingis. I think he's a better offensive player than Przingas. He's their Przingas, but I think he's a better defender than Przingas. I think he's a better offensive player than Przingas.
Starting point is 00:21:48 He can shoot the three. He can put the ball on the floor. Przingas puts the ball on the floor, but not like Miles Turner. Miles is a better finisher. Now, they don't have anybody that's on the level of Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown as far as athleticism, shot-making ability. But they move the ball extremely well. Holliday do a great job of pushing tempo,
Starting point is 00:22:10 and they're looking to make or miss. Hey, if you miss it, they'll take it off the rim. If you make it, they'll take it. Hey, they'll take it out the net. But they're looking to push the pace. They're trying to get the games in the 130s. That's what they want. They want the game in the one.
Starting point is 00:22:23 They want high 120s, 130s. Hey, if it needs to be 150, okay, so be it. But that'd be a very interesting matchup. But I think it ends for you guys. I don't know if you guys can replicate what you did in game, what was that, game two? In which you made
Starting point is 00:22:39 22, 23 threes. The likelihood of you setting another franchise record as far as three points, because that's the only hope. That's the equalizer with anyone. It's threes, the likelihood of you setting another franchise record as far as three points, because that's the only hope that's the equalizer with anyone. Right. It's threes. And so I don't see that happening. I think you guys are going to be done after the next game. And you owe me five hundred. I owe you a hundred. Wait, that's that's how much I bet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:01 I owed you a hundred. Wait, that's how much I bet? Yeah. Damn. All right. Matter of fact, I'm going to hand it to you tomorrow. All right. I appreciate that. That would be awful nice.
Starting point is 00:23:15 That would be awful nice. I'm going to hand it to you tomorrow because I want to make sure I'm clear of all debts. Yeah, yeah. I'm going to have them folks garnish you. I'm going to mess that credit up. You know, garnish me and mess up a credit score. Yeah, I don't want no problems. I don't want no problems like that. So I'm going to make sure you have it tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Guarantee you. Now it's time for our first segment of the day and it's a news cap. Chiefs and Travis Kelsey have agreed to terms on a new two-year contract extension that makes them the NFL's highest paid tight end it's a new two-year deal that that's worth 34.25 million dollars they tore the old contract up that was 30 million 20 30.25 million dollars so he's on the contract through 2025 um more than worthy he should be the highest paid i think he's the best uh uh uh the best tight end in football i think he's the best tight end um of all time based on what he's done in the
Starting point is 00:24:20 regular season based on what he's done in the pro bowl uh you can debate if you won't if you love gronk that's fine if you love tony gonzalez that's fine also guy that doesn't get a whole lot of question uh uh love is antonio gate yeah nobody could score the touch could score the ball like gates he wasn't the fastest but he was shifty he was a big body he knowed how to position he was a basketball player so he knowed how to post guys up. And Drew would throw it up. Phillip Rivers would throw it up, and he would come down with the ball. But Travis Kelsey is now the highest paid tight end in football
Starting point is 00:24:54 with an average salary of a little over $17 million per year. And it's a contract that's very, very well deserved. Yeah, listen, nobody can argue the fact. And I saw when the contract came out and it was over Twitter and Patrick Mahomes tweeted, I told you I wouldn't let my guy leave. And I'm sure Mahomes is going to continue
Starting point is 00:25:16 to restructure his contract in such a way so you can keep some of the important pieces around you that make the engine go. I know Travis Kelsey is a very important, vital part of that offense. I would say that's my home security blanket. Come hell or high water, if you snap the ball, if you need a play on a certain down, Travis Kelsey is that guy that you look forward to going to at all times,
Starting point is 00:25:38 despite some of the inconsistencies that they had last year in the past game. When it mattered most, especially towards the end of the season, who came through for you? Travis Kelsey and brother Rasheed Rice. I'm disappointed because I wanted him to get 16 yards so he'd have eight straight 1,000-yard seasons. Let that sink in for a tight end.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Eight straight. The record was three, maybe four by gonzalez right the man has seven straight 1 000 yard season uh c receiving season um if i'm not mistaken he has the record for the most receiving yards in the season if i'm not mistaken he has the most catches in a season he has the most touchdown receiving in the postseason. And I think he's behind Jerry as far as most receptions in a season.
Starting point is 00:26:31 So, the guy has the regular season body of work, and he has the postseason body of work. So, he's been phenomenal. A contract that's very, very well deserved. I'm proud of your nephew. Keep it going. And just because the contract says two years, very well deserved. I'm proud of your nephew. Keep it going.
Starting point is 00:26:47 And just because the contract says two years, if you still got some juice in the tank, hey. Keep it going. Keep it going. Keep it going. The 49ers are planning on life without Debo Samuel or Brandon Iyuk in 2025. The San Francisco 49ers did not trade Brandon Iyuk, Debo Samuel, or Jawan Jennings during the NFL draft. But according to reports, the Niners are planning on life with at least one,
Starting point is 00:27:08 if not two, of them as soon as 2025. The plan has been and remains to try to work out a long-term extension with Iyuk. If that happens, difficult decisions on Samuel and Jennings and unrestricted free agent will await after the season. The Sinners have been very proactive regarding the future of the receiver position, drafting well-selected Ricky Pearsall in the first round and Jacob Cowling in the fourth round.
Starting point is 00:27:37 You know, that's really iffy because you do draft, you do draft players, but you never know. You know, transitioning from college to the NFL can be very different. It can be very different. Some don't catch on. Some don't arrive until their third year in the NFL to where you finally figure it out. Do they have the time? They got to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:27:56 I mean, they got to figure it out early. But you need that veteran presence. You need that experience somewhere in that locker room. Are you the veteran? Yeah, he is the veteran. presence. You need that experience somewhere in that locker room. I don't know. He is a veteran, but why are they playing with him? Again, every time it's time for us to get paid. We're fighting tooth and nail for our money.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Every time. His resume, what Iyuk has done for that 49ers, for that organization, for that community, there shouldn't be anything to play about. There shouldn't be a waiting period. It always happens this way. Always. For some reason, I don't know why. He's going to play about. There shouldn't be a waiting period. It always happens this way. Always. For some reason. I don't know why. He's going to get paid.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Unfortunately, they won't be able to keep Debo because he's also been a vital part of that offense. With him being a Swiss Army Knife and being able to do so many different things in that offense. I'm curious. I'm excited for the 49ers. I'm excited for the rookies. I'm excited for the rookies. I'm excited for
Starting point is 00:28:46 seeing them play, especially Ricky Persaud. He has some dope highlights. You remember that one-handed catch he had? Oh, yeah. Over the middle. That was nice. That was real nice. He reminded me of Brandon Lloyd. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:02 B. Lloyd had some of the best hands I've ever seen. I don't think people realize how great his hands. He made acrobatic catch before technology. You know what I'm saying? Before the advancement of the gloves. He was making catches like that until my toe touched it. Oh, yeah. I mean, he catches
Starting point is 00:29:18 stuff. I'm like, oh, my goodness. Yeah, Brandon Lloyd was a real deal, man. Yeah, go check his highlight. Ocho, I just think the thing is, at some point in time, the 49ers are going to have to cash these in. You can't keep knocking, keep knocking, keep knocking because you see they've already had to get off so many defensive players. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Now, they've done a great job of keeping the offense intact, but at some point in time, you can't pay IU that money. You can't keep Debo on the contract that he's on. And you got Christian McCaffrey. And you got Big Trent. And you're going to have to do something with Brock Purdy. At some point in time... I mean, listen, the best
Starting point is 00:29:56 part about it is you want to win it and you want to get it done before you have to pay Purdy. That's when you want it. The window of opportunity was there. He's on a rookie it. The window of opportunity was there. Yeah, when I was on a rookie contract, it was there. So things are going to become a little bit more difficult for the 49ers organization to get things done
Starting point is 00:30:13 as that window continues to close. And now you have people saying, well, Debo might not be here. IU might not be here. The more talent you have, the easier your supporting cast can make Brock Purdy's job is when you need to get the job done. And they just haven't.
Starting point is 00:30:30 They haven't been able to close out. And see, that's the thing. When you look at it, like a Patrick Mahomes, his second year in the league on a rookie contract, he got him to the Super Bowl. And after his third year, you know, they lose. But then they give him the big extension but he takes less than what his market value is he says because i want y'all to keep this together right i need chris jones i need travis kelsey i need a lot of these pieces that we have to get let's not break it up now he could have broke the bank if he says i want if he just said
Starting point is 00:31:04 i want 50 million five years ago they got no choice but to give it bank. If he says I want, if he just said I want 50 million five years ago, they got no choice but to give it to him. If he says I want 55, you got no choice. Because what's your argument? He's a Super Bowl MVP and a league MVP within his first three years in the league. He's a 50 touchdown, 5,000 yard passer within his first three years. So whatever he asked for, he's more than he's more than deserving. He's more than earned
Starting point is 00:31:27 whatever he's asking for. He said, but you know what? I'll take a 10 year deal. That's way less than market value because let's see how many we can get of these things before we absolutely have to break it up. And God says, you know what? I'll go ahead. So they're able to keep Stone Coast
Starting point is 00:31:44 or Chris Jones. They're able to keep Stone Coast, Chris Jones. They're able to keep Trav. You know, you got Pacheco. Now, you did lose LeJarius Sneed. Yeah. But you understand, but you got McDuffie. Mm-hmm. Who was first team all pro. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:58 You can't keep everybody. No. Because eventually the Fox is going to come raid you. They're going to come raid your hen house. Mm-hmm. Because they know you got hens that's laying golden eggs. So they're going to start coming to get them, Ocho. You know that.
Starting point is 00:32:09 You know that. Now let me see what I'm willing to part with. Right. Now I wish more teens were like that. I wish more teens were understanding with, like, you know what? Jerry Sneed has been a phenomenal talent for us. He's a great, great talent. And he deserves to be paid well for what he's able to do.
Starting point is 00:32:30 You know, we understand we're not going to be able to pay you. So we're going to allow you to go to another team so they can do you your due just. Not, you know, we're going to franchise tag him or we're going to tag a player. Like, I don't understand. I understand the business. But why piss the individual off? If you franchise tag me,
Starting point is 00:32:51 sometimes they try to use, well, it's going to take us some time to work a contract out and get the numbers right. Now, that's one thing. Franchise just to buy you a little time, but franchise tagging me is basically telling me, you know what? We like you. We just don't think you're worthy of a long-term deal so we're gonna lock in for
Starting point is 00:33:09 one more year and see what we can get out of you right see what happened that's that's all it is that's all it is because the thing is the man look the man is he was deserving of a long-term deal yeah because now you know he's like oh but 20. No, he doesn't want that 20 million. He wants 50 million guaranteed. Because he knows the likelihood of him getting the payday if he were to get injured, especially if it's something that's going to a quarterback. He gets an Achilles injury. Come on. It's going to take a while for you to recover from that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:43 So I'm glad. I'm glad Kansas City did right by him also. He won two Super Bowls. He was a model citizen. He played extremely well for you. He made big-time plays. Let him move on. Let him go secure his family for the rest of their lives. Now he can secure a couple of generations
Starting point is 00:33:59 with the money that he's going to make from the Tennessee Titans. Kudos to the trial for getting that deal done. The 49ers got some decisions they're going's going to make from the Tennessee Titans. So kudos to the Trab for getting that deal done. But the 49ers got some decisions they're going to have to make here. Wake up with football every morning and listen to my new podcast, NFL Daily with Greg Rosenthal. Listen now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Roman Dunzay is already embracing NFC North rivalry. Let's take a listen to what he had to say, Ocho. What's up? What's it been like your first day hitting the Packers? First day hitting the Packers, day hating the packers i already
Starting point is 00:35:25 can't stand them every time i see green i just i nearly puke all over yourself that's right okay okay listen he said he said in a laughing matter so i can't really take that serious right too many smiles he's doing too much laughing now now if he said a little serious you know what i can't really stand the Packers. And I don't like green. With no smile, straight face, I take what he said serious. But I'm taking that with a grain of salt because he's smiling too much. He's smiling too much.
Starting point is 00:35:55 He ain't serious yet. You know what I'm saying? It's hard to come into a rivalry and understand the essence of it until you actually play in it, until you actually feel the intensity of it until you actually play in it, until you actually feel the intensity of that week of practice. When you have, I don't know, was Cincinnati your
Starting point is 00:36:11 rival Steelers, Ravens? The Steelers, Ravens, yeah, or the Browns. I mean, the whole division. The whole division hated each other. Our rival was the Raiders. It was Raiders, Kansas City, and then the Chargers. Seattle used to be in our division until they broke it up and put them in the
Starting point is 00:36:27 North. But when it was Raiders week, you could feel the intensity. When it was Kansas City, you felt the intensity. You knew okay, get ready. It's going to be one of those. It's going to be some pushing and shoving. It's going to be some kicking. It's going to be some late hits. It's going to be some cheap shots. You understand
Starting point is 00:36:44 that, but this is what you expect in the Broncos-Raiders. It's going to be some kicking. It's going to be some late hits. It's going to be some cheap shots. You understand that. But this is what you expect in the Broncos, Ravens, Broncos, Raiders. Same thing with Pittsburgh. Yeah. Ravens, Pittsburgh, we already know what it was. Y'all don't like us. We don't like y'all. Y'all don't like our coach.
Starting point is 00:36:58 We don't like y'all coach. Y'all don't like our fans. We don't like y'all. And what? So I've got to give. I told you, and then it was serious. I don't think people understood the severity in which some of the players didn't like each other. And it was personal. You know, the fans didn't like each other.
Starting point is 00:37:12 It was personal. That Steelers week and that Ravens week, Marvin Lewis. Bring a second chin strap. It's a two-chin strap game. That's the type of game it was. Straight physical. Downhill. Man, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I'm some good days. That's what I call good football. That's that good football. They don't let you play like that no more, Joe. Nah. No, sir. Do you want to play like that? Would you like to play like that again?
Starting point is 00:37:42 Yeah, I like that. I like that. Listen, the nervousness, the nervousness of understanding and knowing I got to keep my head on the swivel is exciting for me. You heard me? Yeah, you get to block knock knock.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Yeah, that's exciting to me. Listen, knowing, being able to look at the defense and knowing where everybody's assignment is and knowing where your danger is at the snap before you come off the ball. Oh, I like that. I like that. Being able to chirp at you and knowing, you know what, you probably going to try to knock my head off. So you're going to be playing angry. And when you play angry, that means you're not playing under control. And when you're not playing under control, that means I have the advantage. Yeah-hmm. Yeah, I like that.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I want you mad. Don't worry about it. I'm going to say something to make you mad if you ain't mad. Yeah, that's how I want you. You ain't going to do nothing? Ocho, what you going to do? We all ready to football game.
Starting point is 00:38:41 We all ready to fight. Mm-hmm. You ain't going to do nothing. Oh, so you're in a fight. Somebody punch you in your nose. Oh, you punch him in my nose? You punch him in my nose? That's what we do in my band?
Starting point is 00:38:51 That's what we do in my ninja? Well, yeah. What up? I'm my mama. Yeah. Okay, yeah. Yeah, your daddy too. Come get it.
Starting point is 00:39:04 What you talking about? What? Talking crazy. Yeah. yeah okay yeah yeah your daddy too come get it what you talking what talking crazy yeah after sitting out the entire 2023 season jarvis landry is going to attempt an nfl comeback this year and he's going to start a journey in jacksonville landry is expected to participate in the jags upcoming rookie minicamp yeah that will essentially allow the jags to see what the veteran receiver looks like on the field without making a financial commitment. The Jags will be able to use the three-day mini camp to see if Landry can still play.
Starting point is 00:39:32 Excuse me. The five-time Pro Bowler had a pretty successful career since entering the league with Miami Dolphins in 2014, but he struggled with injuries in 2022, which is a big reason why he didn't end up playing in 2023. What's your thing,
Starting point is 00:39:48 Gocho? Oh, he going to be fine. So listen, Jarvis Andrews is one of those players that doesn't need a minicamp. He doesn't need a minicamp. Now the injuries are one of the things that have, that have hampered him a little bit throughout his career,
Starting point is 00:39:59 but he's always been good. He's always been an elite, elite route runners. Stay with me when I say that now, whether it's in the inside, whether it's in the slot, whether it's an outside. So he's going to make that Jacksonville squad. And I'm telling you this now. So when the news
Starting point is 00:40:12 breaks that he is signed one, two years, whatever it may be with the Jacksonville Jaguars, you understand why. He needed that time off. That time off is going to be perfect for him because now he's going into a situation where he's healthy and now he can show you what he can do when he is. And he's going to be perfect for him because now he's going into a situation where he's healthy
Starting point is 00:40:25 and now he can show you what he can do when he is. And he's going to pick up where he left off when he was healthy in the league. And even when he wasn't, an 80% Jarvis Landry is better than most. Not in his age anymore. If you know your football,
Starting point is 00:40:38 you know what I'm talking about. Ocho, you know, if you had any little nagging injuries, you know, hey, it's like the Serengeti. Yeah. What happened to a less than 100% antelope? They get eaten.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Yeah. That's the mentality. Hold on. Hey, don't try not to make me laugh now because I don't want security to come say I'm too loud again. Ocho, but you know, that's the mentality. Right, right, right, right, right. We gobble up. Do we get gobbled up?
Starting point is 00:41:07 It ain't no, oh, man, you know, my man, he hurt his knee, man. Let's take, oh, he got a hurt ankle or he got a hurt. Hey, that ain't got nothing to do with me. You out here. I think you're 100%. You heard that? They knocked on your door? No, on the wall.
Starting point is 00:41:24 They hit the wall. Hey, man, y'all go to sleep. Yeah. Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul to be sanctioned as a professional fight. July 20th bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will be classified as a sanctioned professional fight
Starting point is 00:41:40 by the Texas Department of License and Regulation. The heavyweight showdown will be contested over eight two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves. 14-ounce, that's kind of like training gloves. They normally use 16-ounce as far as training. Yeah, but you know, 14 is...
Starting point is 00:41:56 This is smart on Jake's part. This is smart on Jake's part. Like pillows. It's very, very smart on Jake's part. For one, Jake Paul does not want to be in a ring with Mike Tyson for three minutes, eight rounds. You don't want to do that. I don't know if Mike got the stamina for that.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Now, he can go two. And plus, you don't want to be. I think they're going to use headgear also. No, no, no headgear. No headgear. They're not going to use headgear? No, no, no. No headgear.
Starting point is 00:42:23 I think so. I think so, Joe. They are? i think so i think so joe they are i think so but as long as they ain't got them eight ounce gloves you'll be all right listen them eight or ten ounce gloves jake ain't making it about it there i don't care mike tyson was 87 the power and the force that mike tyson still possesses at the age he is now is very very dangerous it's still dangerous think about this think if mike decided to come out, for one, he's taking it serious. Think if he decided to come out the way he comes out in all fights, where he just walks you down, he comes forward, slips, slips, slips, tries to get inside. And no, no. I mean, Jake has done a
Starting point is 00:43:02 phenomenal job at what he's done so far in boxing, but there's levels to everything. There's levels to everything. And one of the things that Mike Tyson would do is make you uncomfortable. No headgear, Ocho. Told you. But here's my thing, Ocho. Told you. If I'm not mistaken, Jake Paul is the betting favorite.
Starting point is 00:43:19 So what does that tell you? Yeah. Listen, he might be the betting favorite. One thing about Mike Tyson, what happens if he clicks? What happens if some just go off? Yeah, all right. All right, man.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Listen, we're not just getting in there with anybody. I don't know. It can get scary. I'm just glad they're not using 10-ounce gloves. Yeah, I think Mayweather and them I don't know. It can get scary. I'm just glad they're not using the 10-ounce gloves. Well, yeah. I think Mayweather used 10-ounce gloves.
Starting point is 00:43:51 They didn't use 8-ounce because UFC fighting 4-ounce gloves. And most boxers, they fight in 8-ounce gloves. Either Everlast, Winnings, or Reyes. Reyes is a different type
Starting point is 00:44:01 of leather. It all depends on what you're trying to do. Floyd, if I'm not mistaken, I think Floyd wore a wedding. A little bit more pad, protect his hands. Because, you know, Floyd had... No, Floyd wore a grant. He wore a grant?
Starting point is 00:44:14 Are you sure? I think Floyd wore a wedding. No, the spar he wore a wedding, but the fight he wore grant gloves, if I'm not mistaken. Because I think the thing is that he needed something to protect his hand because his hands were a little brittle. Yeah, he broke his hands a few times. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so, but those Rez gloves
Starting point is 00:44:33 is basically his fist. And it's like you got to just it's like just a rubber glove that you wear in the wintertime. Yeah. And you try to just you try to cut. You dig it.
Starting point is 00:44:44 So that's going to be it's going to be exciting though. Everybody want to tune in because everyone and you're trying to just, you're trying to cut. You dig it. So, that's going to be, it's going to be exciting though. Everybody going to want to tune in because everybody going to want to see what's going to happen because you don't know. You don't know.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Right. Ocho, a man is going viral for cutting his homeboys off for not checking on him after back surgery. He cheated. He treated.
Starting point is 00:44:59 He tweeted, I just blocked and dead in friendship with four of my homeboys after I had back surgery literally a whole month ago. And now one of those ends checked on your boy. I ain't say ish. I just blocked them and let it be what it is.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Let it be what it is. And wasn't my real friend. Yeah, that's some shady ish there. That's crazy. That's crazy. And the fact that most of the time when something important like that and you have friends of yours that you consider friends
Starting point is 00:45:29 and you go through something serious like a back procedure, no matter what it was, and they don't even check on you, see how you doing, a call, I mean... And they know you're going to be down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:39 You're going to be down. Ocho, this is how you know they didn't see you. You would have had surgery. Now, let's just say for the sake of our, I would have had surgery on my back. I had surgery on my hip. Right. You need anything?
Starting point is 00:45:51 That means I'm going to ask, hoping you say no. Nah, bring your funky ass over here and find out if I need anything. Right, right, right, right. But man, you got to know the details, Ocho. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I was going to come over there and see if you needed anything, but I figured you was good. Well, how you figure that?
Starting point is 00:46:09 With a calculator or scratch paper? Yeah, and one thing about it is when you have friends, and I can just speak on this as far as from a football perspective, or even friends, if you have surgery or anything, for one, they're going to call you, and the jokes is going to fly. Oh, yeah. Oh, the jokes is going to fly. I'm coming just to joke. They tell you about me,
Starting point is 00:46:30 let me have a surgery. I'm coming just to joke. So they already know. They done told their wife, they done told their girl, man, Sharp coming. Man, you know how Sharp feels. Yep, Sharp going to tear your ass up. Yeah. I will get them jokes off. Yeah, most definitely i think i think
Starting point is 00:46:45 listen i think maybe he thought they were they were friends because he had known them sometimes they're not even your friend they're just associates so you're expecting friend things from people that are just associates so you you kind of put them in a in a position or a place where they really don't belong and that just lets you know that. And listen, sometimes it comes to even relationships as well. Sometimes you're with people that move a certain way or don't do certain things that align with the things that someone that is a partner should be doing. And that lets you know or put things into perspective when they don't do certain things. So, I mean same same thing so if anybody out there you have a partner that doesn't act like a partner you know or a girlfriend or a boyfriend and they doing things like
Starting point is 00:47:35 place to put them in oh joe but here's the thing a lot of times people are your friends when you don't need them oh anybody know joe come on now A lot of times people are your friends when you don't need them. Oh. Anybody know Joe? Come on now. Don't talk. Listen, I don't want anybody. To talk good to my face. Talk good behind my back.
Starting point is 00:48:00 That's see a friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out. Your four homeboys i'm i'm i'm coming i'm coming to jump it's just like time when we did that interview yeah man i was like you know what and i saw that foot he already knows he's coming he's coming it don't matter because my homeboy got me when I had my surgery. Right. He started kicking. First thing he said, man, damn, homeboy, you looking like Cyclops. You know, he, you know, hey, I expect it. Right. So I'm good with that, man. It's just, it's sad that, it's sad that, man, he said he got four homeboys.
Starting point is 00:48:45 And I believe he genuinely heard. I believe he sincerely heard. Yeah, because if he wasn't heard, if it didn't bother him, if it didn't bother him, obviously he thought the world of those individuals. Because when you know somebody just an associate, they're not in the friend category, you don't care whether they reach out or not when you're going through something. But when you consider people friends, you know, if you consider someone a boyfriend, if you consider someone a girlfriend, you know, there are certain ways you carry yourself when someone is going through something. You check on them. They're going through surgery. You check on them. You know, and you can understand a person lets you know how much they mean to you by how they react
Starting point is 00:49:26 when something's going wrong. Mm-hmm. But I expect that man and my at least come join me. Even if you don't bring me just come join me. Because I expect that.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Because I'm going to get your ass. A simple text. They didn't even check in. Checking in is a simple text. What's up, boy? I'm just hitting you. I'm just hitting your line, boy. Making sure you're good. Boy, you need something? Shit, you know, I'm right here. Nah, hey, bro. Come on over. If you my homeboy,
Starting point is 00:49:54 Burns coming. I had my hip surgery. Bucky got on the flight. He ain't got a whole lot of money. You like homeboy? Hey, he came. Burns called me every day yeah it's different that's what that's what friends do yeah it's different again i'm assuming they're probably associates he put them in a position that they're not you might have thought they were your friends they
Starting point is 00:50:21 were associates y'all might have went to the club together. Y'all might hang out together. Every time, everybody you hang out with ain't your friend. No, but see, dudes like that, I don't expect them to come. I have no expectations. I know who I consider my friends, and I know who I expect that if something were to happen, who's going to come. And likewise,
Starting point is 00:50:48 I'm not putting any added pressure in the relationship because don't you know with a degree of certainty, if something were to happen, my sister, Bucky called, Libby, you need me to come down there? Now, here I was something away.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Mm-hmm. When my grandmother was in the hospital, my sister and my two aunts, they rotated. He take my sister something. He take my aunt something. He pick them up. You want to go sit down and eat somewhere? I go with you. Hey, homeboy, let me see. Hey, I got it. You done done more than enough for me.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Some days he just go by that.
