Wow, wow, wow, what a game.
Lane Kiffin kicking his own self in the ass,
and it looked like to me, John and Ocho,
they were really trying to get Georgia this football game
because they blatantly missed some calls
that we could not have had an as interesting game.
But this is the way college intended it for the beat,
not the Alabama game and not the previous game with Oregon
and you know who.
But anyway, man, what a game.
3934, the Ole Miss Rebels moves.
on to the semifinals, thanks to a 39-34 victory over Georgia, Trinidad Chambers was sensational
30 or 462, 262, two touchdown. Kiwan Lacey had 22, 99 yards, two touchdowns, Harrison Wallace
the third, 9 for a buck 56, a touchdown, Dizahn scribbling, 7 for a buck 22.
Man, Ole Miss looked good, they look really, really good. Thank you guys for joining us for another

As I mentioned, the number six,
Ole Miss Rebels, get their revenge.
Earlier this year, Johnny,
it was a very exciting game.
It was a 4335 victory.
Georgia's favor this time around 3934 in old miss favor trinidad chamas had him a game of game
he probably should have had more yards than that he could have easily had 400 yards had not all
the drops that took place in the first half guys and the drop at the end of the game thanks to a big
hit but when he needed to make it he was making some throws on the run those are NFL throws that
he was making and they win this ball game because he played sensational congratulations to p.
golden el ocho johnny i don't know if y'all know if y'all know
Dan Lanning, he was at Alabama.
Christopher was at Alabama.
Kirby Smart was at Alabama.
Pete Golden was at Alabama.
You notice a thing?
It's not an accident.
And the guy that said Alabama got his ass kicked and made Alabama.
Everything didn't work for the last two decades.
He erased it.
Kail and the boy with that performance today,
we're going to get into that.
But Johnny, we're going to start with you.
What did you like about how was Ole Miss able to win this game?
The coach leaves.
There's a lot of turmoil.
Give these guys credit.
I will say this, Delane,
letting those offensive coaches come back and coach.
Charlie Weiss Jr. is going to be a head coached within the next year.
Go ahead, Johnny.
Yeah, look, the first game they played earlier this year was a great game back and forth.
Georgia made the plays in that game.
And in this game, Ole Miss made the plays.
Look, they gave Georgia a lot of opportunities throughout the night.
But when they needed to step up, like the last drive with 54 seconds left,
whatever it was, they stepped up.
Chamble's made an unbelievable throw on a fade ball to get them into field goal position.
And then you know, after the way this game's played out, there was no way that kicker was missing that.
He was nails all night.
And to be honest, it shouldn't have been that close because they should have got three points before half, to be honest.
Yeah, right.
They kind of gave that away a little bit.
But look, from the second that they walked out on the field today, Ole Miss, you can tell, is playing for one another in that locker room.
They're playing for their brothers.
They're not playing for Lane.
They're not playing for any of that.
They're playing for themselves, and they got something to prove.
So this is a really good Old Miss team.
They've cleaned up a lot of what they were lacking a little bit throughout the season, I think.
Ocho?
Yeah.
I mean, listen, looking at the first half of the game, I thought Georgia was going to run away with the game.
Obviously, they tried to come out the first two series.
They tried to throw the ball.
That didn't work.
Ole Miss got points within those first two series, and then Georgia went back to what they do best.
playing ball in the trenches
where the game is one
when you looked at the game yesterday
when Miami played
how did Miami win the game
they won the game up front
and the way Georgia played
in that second quarter
going into the half
I'm like oh my goodness
listen they're going to blow
these young bulls out the water
if they just keep doing that
but listen coming in the second half
I'm not sure what adjustments
Ole made
but they got damn Chambers on
while some of the throws he had to make
in the second half they get his team
back into the game
even with the drop that they had, the costy dropped that they had,
they were still able to make enough plays to get back into the game.
Brother Lacey had one hell of a game, Monk.
Yep.
If I'm not mistaken, he was on the show, correct?
Yeah, yeah.
Now, have you noticed with everybody that's come on the show and has gone back to play
and their respective crap and their respective sport?
For some reason, they've had unbelievable success.
Hey, this is one hell of a game by goddamn Ole Miss, man.
This was nice.
And like you did, say, this is what bowl games were about.
Not what we saw earlier today.
I'm not going to mention it.
I'm going to wait until we get to it.
But this was a great game.
Yeah, you look at this ball game.
I mean, Trinidad Chambers had himself a day.
I don't know if he's eligible to come out, Johnny.
You can speak more to that.
But his ability to throw the football on the run,
his ability to throw the ball from the pocket,
use his legs if he absolutely have to,
but he is absolutely a pocket passer.
He just happened to be athletic enough to get outside
and can throw the ball with pinpoint accuracy.
As you mentioned, Juan Lacey, he put the ball on the ground early.
Georgia got a touchdown on a scoop and score.
He put the ball on the ground early, but I love the way he run.
He did something very, and he must have been listening.
I say, they blitz, you saw him step up.
He stepped up, closed the distance, met the guy.
He's like, oh, hell, my quarterback in trouble, let me leak out.
Caught the ball, went and got a first down.
They were able to sustain that drive and get a touchdown out of it.
It's smart, heads he plays like that,
that the common person might not notice,
but when you watch instead of the game of football,
you're like, that's a football player.
That's a football play that he made.
He realized I'm not going to give this guy a running start
to let him sit me in my quarterback's lap.
I'm going to close the distance.
Oh, damn, my quarterback's in trouble.
Georgia for about two and a half, three quarters, guys.
That defense, I'm like, what, damn, are you sure?
They got 11 men on the field.
Ain't no damn way in hell.
If soon as the guy
catched the ball,
they own him.
They weren't missing any tackles
and they were swarming to the football.
I hadn't seen anything like that
in a very long time.
And then all of a sudden,
slowly but surely,
Ole Miss,
they got Trinidad hit a pass over the middle
and the guy spun up out of it.
That was really the first time
I saw a Miss tackle.
And from that point on,
they got rolling.
And once they got rolling,
and you know,
momentum is funny.
It's funny.
You see,
they weren't doing nothing
that all of a sudden
they got momentum.
and then Georgia couldn't stop him.
And then the refs bailed,
hide that Pio,
when that guy grabbed,
he grabbed the DB helmet,
turned his head down to all the red,
he down to pull the T. Higgins on J. Ram.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I said, come on.
And they missed a face mask on Lacey.
How you missed that, Ocho?
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what they're looking at.
I don't know if they can see it.
Did they think the man was Beetlejuice?
Beetle juice, beetle juice.
Hey, oh.
Hey, I don't know what the ref was looking at.
I don't know what they was looking at.
But they missed some calls.
Obviously, human error is inevitable, especially in a position like that.
We have to see everything.
And you should see everything, especially those calls.
Because if we can see it sit here at home, I know Dan,
where you can see it up close and perfectly.
Exactly.
Your side.
You know, there were two plays on that last Georgia drive.
There was a PI down the left side that was, yeah, he walled him out a little bit to the
sideline, but like he just didn't get his head.
around that was a little ticky tacky wishy washi kind of and then they ran kind of a stutter go
and he was beat and he grabbed him and saved a touchdown so like a lot of great ball on both
sides offense and defense from old miss that are huge heads up plays that allowed them to get
you know a loss of three yards on first down when it was from the six yard line made a great
defensive play on third down in the back of the end zone yeah and then and then the fade ball on
offense the next time to the number two receiver on an inside fade i mean yep you get press man i mean
anytime i would ever see that in college you're kind of salivating at the mouth if he stays over the
top you can throw it back shoulder and he beat him up the line right away you got so much room you got
so much room you can use the sideline you don't have to worry about him walling you off to the
sideline or anything like that so man stones from the kicker unbelievable job by him
trinidad obviously lacey i think there's some guys on the defense who really stood out but oh yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gunner Stockton, too.
That guy's as tough as nails.
He took a shot early in that game.
He took a bunch of shots.
That was crazy.
That guy can play ball.
Yeah, when you...

If one of us wins, we all win.
I'm Ashley Reinfeld, and I'm the host of the women's skateboarding podcast.
Good luck with that.
Good luck with that is a skateboarding podcast that is part cultural record, part
news brief, mostly group therapy, and a place to talk about the past, present, and future of
women and gender expansive skateboarding. This week, me and my co-host, Nora Vascenzelos, and
Alex White, we have Fabiana Delfino on the show, a professional skateboarder from Florida, whose
grit was forged in a family of athletes. Tune in to hear how she broke into the boys club,
what it takes to be pro, and why just being grateful you're here shouldn't be the price of entry.
Maybe the industry thinks that we just started skating five years ago, because that's when they
maybe started paying attention.
It's a no-fluff conversation about putting in the years,
stacking clips and receipts,
and still having to prove your worth while the industry catches up.
You break down the door, sick, now, like, hold the door for everyone.
We created good luck with that because we want to share our experience
of existing in an industry that wasn't always built for everyone.
So listen to good luck with that on IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

Greatness doesn't just show up.
It's built.

Give Charlie Weiss Jr. a lot of credit, Ocho.
Because they threw that ball with 36 seconds.
Now, that ball is incomplete.
It's fourth down.
And the clock stops, and Georgia has three timeouts.
Three.
So for him to put that ball,
ball up in the air and say, hey, Chambers, you brought us this far, son, take us on home.
Bring us home.
And I bid, damn, if he didn't, hey, he dropped it in the bucket.
As Johnny said, that takes huge stones.
That's a hell of a call by an offensive coordinator that trusts his quarterback,
knows his quarterback is dealing.
The only thing I need you to do, son, is catch it because he's going to put it in your
basket.
All I need you to do is don't trip on your way to the market.
The eggs in the back, don't, don't waste the profit.
Don't trip on the way to the mark.
Boy, he dropped that thing that's so pretty.
I thought he was going to get away.
But he's like, you know what?
I'm good.
I'm good.
But Johnny, you mentioned something earlier.
That kicker, 55, 56.
Look like it had been good from 65, 66.
100%.
And I say, now don't come late in the game, man.
You don't hit any two astronaut out of the world, out of galactic field goals.
Now you're going to come when they really need it and shake a 30-something yard.
We've seen that so many times, but I think you have to give Ole Miss credit.
I don't think a lot of people thought Ole Miss could beat Georgia, considering they had played earlier.
But I was telling my sister, I was like, Libby, I'm saying they played them earlier.
Georgia, amount of the comeback, I say, but Ole Miss is not in awe of Georgia.
They're not fearful of Georgia.
They know they can play them tough.
And I always like being the team that lost the first time around because I've gotten an opportunity to make a lot of wholesale changes.
If you win,
also why would I make
changes I won?
Yes, sir.
What I need to change?
But this was, man,
this was a game.
This is what it should be
in the college football playoff, guys.
That's what we saw at the Rose Bowl,
that what we saw at the Peach,
Oregon and Texas Tech.
Right.
That ain't what it's supposed to be.
It's supposed to be too evenly.
I don't know what happened to those offenses today
from those opposing teams.
But, man, I was really, really impressed with Ole Miss.
Look, I don't know how many seniors they got.
I don't know if Trinidad and Trambliss can come back.
But they got a team, man.
A very good team.
Very good team.
They got a damn good team.
What you thinking, Johnny?
Man, I'm thinking Old Miss is going to be a really hard out.
That next game they play.
Obviously, they play Miami.
Miami's playing great ball right now.
I think if you get that level of Carson Beck,
that you got yesterday.
If you can get that with their defense,
they're going to be a really, really hard out.
But this is going to be a really good game.
You just don't know what Carson Beck you're going to get.
He looked the other day like a guy who's played 30, 40 games.
But then you'll see him against A&M and, you know,
he'll make enough plays to get it done,
but inconsistent at times.
But I still think he's a good quarterback.
And this Ole Miss team is going to be fired up.
I think that game's going to be unbelievable.
Yeah, I think that game is going to be really good as well.
Obviously, you know, when we watch the hurricanes,
we understand they can do some of the things that Georgia was able to do.
They can stifle the run.
They can get after your quarterback.
They can make Chandler's uncomfortable back there.
But obviously, Chambers being somewhat of a do, threatened beating.
Yeah, he got better legs than saying.
He got some legs on him.
So they're going to have to be careful, especially when they decide the blitz.
But obviously, we saw them do something that they didn't have to do.
Because they can get four and four can get home,
We didn't have to do that.
We didn't have to put our back in in harm's way
by having to bring extra help to get home to the quarterback.
So it's going to be an interesting game
to see how that game plan works out
and how things go with Ole Miss and Miami played,
but that's going to be one hell of a game.
I have one question, too.
Yes.
And Johnny, I'm not sure.
I'm sure you all probably know,
where is that game going to be held?
Well, Oregon, Oregon, yeah, that's the Fiesta Bowl.
Okay.
So in Arizona, and the other guy in me,
then Peach Bowl is in Atlanta.
Damn, that's a long ways away.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
And the great neutralizer,
it's a neutral site.
Yes.
Ain't nobody got no home field.
Hey, how well do your fans,
how well do your fans want to see you play a bowl game?
Are you guys going to travel?
I think both these teams are going to travel like.
I agree.
Yeah.
I think they're going to flock to Phoenix.
Well, look here.
Old Miss.
old miss ain't no but the hopskia it's about seven it's about six hour drive
from uh from uh from oxford mississippi yeah to her to Atlanta they go to flood
they got boy wait no they're they're in phoenix they in phoenix Oregon and what you
call them goes to uh in Oregon and Indiana is in the peach bowl Oregon and Indiana is in the
peach bowl um that's a long way for Oregon to travel
It's not that far for, I mean, it's far, but it's not as far as to there from Oregon, way over there to.
Yeah, that's a way over here.
But I think these are going to be some, they're going to be some very good games.
Oregon and Indiana, they're familiar with each other, same conference, Big Ten.
They know each other, very familiar with each other.
So that's going to be interesting.
But I was very, very impressed with Ole Miss, because I was, I was worried at first, guys,
because they're moving the ball up and down the field, and they're kicking field goals.
bro, y'all got to push this thing in.
Damn, the field goals.
Yeah.
And then they scored a touchdown and they don't get the two-point conversion.
I was like, ah, ha, ha, ah.
But this was a game.
This is what I got Nate Frazier.
He got, he got nicked in this game, which he ran the ball extremely hard.
15 carries, 86 yards.
Maybe they should have leaned on the little running game a little bit more
because once they kind of got that going in the fourth,
it kind of opened up the passing game.
But, Chamblis, his ability to get outside, Ocho,
and throw the ball over the top,
that's what was most impressive for me tonight.
I think that was really the difference in the ball game.
Georgia has outstanding speed at all three levels.
His ability to race them to a point outside
and still be able to throw the ball with marksman accuracy.
Over the top was extremely, extremely impressive today.
And they won this ball game.
Oh, man, I can imagine what it's like at Oxford.
I know they're going crazy.
They probably say, Lane, who?
Who?
We ain't missing.
We ain't missing.
But unfortunately, Charlie Weissue, is going to be tagging along with Lane to LSU.
But I will not be surprised within the next year, Charlie Wise Jr.
gets a head coaching job because what he did tonight was masterful.
Yep.
Let's move on.
College football playoff win.
But Lane still get paid.
He got $2.50 for the first game.
what's he make for this game.
Another $250 or the $500.
He still get paid on Joe, just like he coached.
But Young, you got to understand that.
This is his product.
This is his product that he didn't think he must be
didn't like it.
You said sell itself.
I mean, it's sell itself, which is why
it looked the way it looked at the day.
Just because he didn't coach this last game,
you got to understand that he's had these players all season long.
He's had them prepared and ready to go.
Yeah.
So it's going to be it's going to be very, very interesting to see.
Boy, can you imagine if Ole Miss goes on and win the national championship
and Lane don't win one at LSU?
Well, hold on.
You're saying he don't get no rank?
Hell am I.
He's going to get no ring.
Oh, he's still getting the check, ain't it?
How much you want to bet he don't get a ring?
How much you want to make a bet he does?
I bet you. I bet you.
I bet you.
I bet.
bet it.
Hold on, Ocho.
They wouldn't let it there stay in coach.
Hold on,
let me finish.
Let me finish.
Go ahead.
Donnie, listen to me,
that what sense to this make too now?
Now,
you're going to have to make some sense to me.
Come on.
Now, you're still getting checks
for you're not coaching the team
that's in the playoffs,
but you mean to tell me if they win
a national championship,
it's okay to give you the checks,
but you're not going to get a ring?
What sense that made?
A lot of sense.
The checks are in the contract,
ain't no ring in the contract.
I guarantee you his players wouldn't give him a ring.
Hell no.
And he wanted to stay.
They didn't want him to stay.
Right.
Obviously, when you take another job,
I don't think they would want you to stay either.
Now, the players, they might feel a little different.
Administration, nah, buddy.
Nah, Ocho.
I don't know if you've been listening close enough.
The players, there ain't no love lost.
That players did not want him to stay in coach.
they don't understand
they're in business yet
they get it they're in college right now
they don't understand
if you love me so much
why you leaving
it happens all the time
but I don't care about that
I'm talking about here
yes there are a lot of kids
get put up for adoption
but that ain't got nothing to do
with our situation right here right now
we're talking about me and you
I understand yeah there are hardships
yes some moms go through things
and they're not equipped.
I get all that.
But what does that got to do with me?
Yeah.
What did you say?
A lot of kids get what?
Yeah, it gets put up for adoption.
But that ain't got nothing to do with me.
I was going to do it.
You said you didn't want me.
Now when I have success,
you want some of their credit?
Come on that.
It happens all the time.
Yes, sir.
I ain't give you none of it.
Right.
So we'll see how they're saying.
What's up?

I'm Ashley Reifeld, and I'm the host of the women's skateboarding podcast.
Good luck with that.
Good luck with that is a skateboarding podcast that is part cultural record, part news brief,
mostly group therapy, and a place to talk about the past, present, and future of women
and gender expansive skateboarding.
This week, me and my co-host, Nora Vascenzelos, and Alex White, we have Fabiana Delphino
on the show, a professional skateboarder from Florida, whose grit was forged and
and a family of athletes.
Tune in to hear how she broke into the boys' club,

Maybe the industry thinks that we just started skating five years ago
because that's when they maybe started paying attention.
It's a no-fluff conversation about putting in the years,
stacking clips and receipts and still having to prove your worth

383 in the Rose Bowl behind Hosman trophy winner Fernando Mendoza three touchdown Indiana earns its first bowl game since 1991 the Hoosiers advanced to face Oregon in the semifinals
Hosman trophy winner Fernando Mendoza threw for 192 yards three touchdowns while the defense held Alabama to 193 yards man
Alabama ain't got no speed I ain't know their defense looks so slow their skill everything on office
They was moving in mud.
Indiana was flying.
Mm-hmm.
It was flying.
And they all of the...
What did you see?
Man, this is kind of the same Alabama team we've seen all year.
I mean, at times they've looked good,
but they had this fight and claw to win the Iron Bowl.
They had times throughout the season where they look terrible.
This is still a team that lost to Florida State to open.
in the season. Just a very inconsistent team. I think Ty Simpson at times throughout this year,
we've praised on this show. We praised his play. We praised his poise at times, making big
throws. That wasn't the same guy today. And you got to give a lot of credit to Signetti,
the way he has Indiana playing, a lot of heart flying around the field. They're determined.
They're focused. Obviously, Mendoza has to feel extremely confident with the way that he's playing
football right now. You knock off Ohio State, you go and smack Alabama. You're just looking
at this situation like next up. They almost seem to me like a little bit of team of fate of destiny
to do something for them in their program that hasn't been done ever. And I think everybody in that
locker room has bought in. And since the Penn State game, we really haven't seen them slip up
very much. You know, I think I've made a lot of noise about was Mendoza deserving of the
Heisman, was he the best player in the country, and all that.
You put that to bed and put that to rest because you have the trophy now.
His is sitting in his room or in his house or wherever it is.
Now you go out and solidify it.
And you know how you solidify that?
Running the table and going undefeated and winning the national championship
and doing two things that have never really been done in Indiana on the football side.
Yeah, I agree.
A, A. Ocho Signetti also was at Alabama.
Yeah?
Yeah.
He was an assistant on the coach Sabre.
So both coaches that was in the Ole Miss Georgia game
Was that Alabama?
The University of Crystal Ball, he was at Miami.
Cignetti, he was at Alabama.
Dan Lany, he's at Alabama.
Right.
Ain't an accident.
It's not an accident.
What you see in this game, Ocho, Alabama looked awful.
Other than they looked awful, what did you see?
I mean, listen, the game was, the game was one up front.
Defense, I don't, defense.
Indiana, they all over the place.
Made Ty Simpson uncomfortable all goddamn day long.
I'm not sure if Indiana's defensive offense is moving that fast
or just Alabama's offense and defensive players were just that slow.
Yeah.
I see the skill players, they weren't effective.
And almost to a point is like, is Alabama, did they really belong here?
Where they, did they really belong in the playoffs to begin with,
with the way they look?
Tonight, I mean, early, earlier today.
Obviously, I understand Indiana hasn't lost all season long.
They look really good all season long, and they played up the par and let and put everybody else,
everybody else on notice that we are serious.
What you saw last year from us, we are the real deal.
What you saw from us during the regular season?
Yes, that is us, and we can play with the best.
And they proved today in a thrashing of Alabama.
It just, it almost, it was a lopsided game on.
it was the lopsided game to the point
where I was like, why is Alabama
even out here?
I agree. I agree.
I can't recall, and I've been watching
Alabama a long time. I remember when Coach
Bryant actually coached Alabama.
So that's how far I've been watching Alabama.
And I told you all earlier this year, I've never
seen the Alabama team look like this team.
They're big, they're slow.
Yeah.
They're slow.
Alabama, I mean, their defense,
there's nothing.
when you there used to be things that there are things that you can look at
Alabama and says okay they're special you look at their offensive line
and defensive line they would used to be littered with first round pick special
you look at their wide receiver groups special you look at their DVs special
you look at their linebacker special you tell me one thing that's special about
Alabama office defense or special teams tell me one thing chat that you guys have
seen all year long that says okay that's a special player
that's a special unit nothing nothing jumps out at you absolutely nothing
boy they got Alabama fan the alumni boosters probably said that we sure wish you to
took that job at Michigan and leave us to hell alone yeah damn it was bad it was it was it was
bad um and I think the thing is maybe uh you people like well
Well, man, them days, no, it's not, that's Alabama.
Those days are never over.
Yeah.
It's just like Michigan.
It's just like Ohio State.
There's still a standard.
They're not going to settle because Coach Saban's not there or Coach Bryant's not there.
Go ahead.
Hey, Uncle, Johnny, and you know, we talk about the standard, about Alabama having a standard.
When, when Coach Saving Coast there, well, obviously, when Coast Saving Coast there,
NIA wasn't active.
Everyone wanted to go to Alabama.
the players think about all the receivers at one point they were receiving university huh
they they filtered one after the other running backs filtered one after the other having one
of the best defensive they all filtered one after another going into the draft so everybody
wanted to go there now with nil is even the playing field so all the players are going all
over the place so now everybody everybody is good everybody getting those five star four star players
now so now coaching comes into play even that much more because you're not getting the best
of the best now it makes it by easier when you got the best receivers you got the best
line you're getting the best defensive backs you're getting the best safeties now when you're
not and they're going all over the place every team is sprinkled in some five stars so now other
factors coming to play when it comes time to plan and competing i guess you really looked at
ohio state when they had the bosa brothers when they had chase young and they had all those guys
It wasn't no NIL when they had Zeke Elliott when they had Vernon go when they had
Vernon Goldster and Denzel War it wasn't though it when they had Denzel War and
what's the one they got he went to uh he went to Detroit what's here on the DB
huh no no no no he was from Ohio State Jeff Okuda Okuda yeah there wasn't no
NIL so don't pretend like Alabama was the only one getting them down top player
Ohio State was getting them.
Because remember, they went defensive play rookie of the year,
defensive rookie of the year, defense and rookie of the year.
They went with Joy with Joy Bosa, they went with Chase Young,
they went with Nick Bosa.
Okay, let me tell you something.
Let me tell you something real quick.
Go ahead.
I think it was NIL back then too, huh?
Huh, Johnny?
I mean, just now, NIA.
No, the difference is they went to the front door,
this time they just walked through the front door.
That's the only different.
There we go.
There we go.
All right, you said it before I can get it out.
You said it.
I will say one thing.
That's the only difference, Johnny.
Yeah, it adds, for all that's wrong in NIL right now,
and people are frustrated about it and there needs to be a lot of changes,
the one thing that it has done is create parity in different teams,
getting into the playoff, which is what we wanted.
We were tired of seeing the same teams in every year,
same national championships, same matchups.
So Georgia, Alabama, Alabama, Clemson, Alabama, you know, same thing.
So it has added to where.
the talent pool is definitely spread out now do the players have too much power now to do whatever
they want and and i saw i think sark saying this the other day is like we're dealing with kids
who are leaving you know before the bowl game or whatever and we go and talk to their agent and
their agent may be their roommate sitting down the couch with them so like you don't know what's
going on there definitely needs to be some changes and it's going to take some regulation it's
going to take a guy like nick sabin to come in and oversee a committee and
they're going to have to find some rules on how to do it.
It's going to take somebody really powerful like that to make the changes that are necessary.
John Calipari went on a seven-minute rant the other day after the game,
and it was all time for what he's dealing with on the college basketball side.
And I will say this as well.
I can't believe I'm going to say it, but even though Notre Dame's taking their ball
and going home and running off, they would have put up a better fight today than Alabama for sure.
Yeah.
Well, are you going to do it's getting the carvers and play somebody?
That's very true.
You just got to play somebody.
And I think that with the NIL, it just goes to show you.
You can get good in the hurry.
Now, it's not so much the NIL because, but you got to spend the money on the right places.
It's all about location, location, location.
Just because you open up a restaurant, it can be great food.
But if it's not in the middle of nowhere, ain't nobody traveling way, way out there.
You got to have, you know, you won't foot traffic.
You want people.
Oh, let's try this place.
You get the right.
You see what happened with Texas.
You got to have a quarterback.
They got Mendoza.
Indiana got Mendoza.
Yeah.
Ole Miss got Chambliss.
Mm-hmm.
Miami got back.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
Didn't Oregon's guy a transfer to?
I think so.
I think Oregon's got a transfer also.
But you can get good in a hurry.
Yes, sir.
If you get the right people,
everybody thinks, well, hey,
he transferred from UCLA.
So, you see?
Yeah, quick.
I mean, look, what do you think Lane Kiffin's going to do next year
when he gets to LSU?
You think he's not going to poach a quarterback
from somewhere first and foremost?
Absolutely.
Guarantee you what he's doing right now.
You know, Johnny, it's about to,
they're about to do away with spring ball
because all guys are doing the spring ball
is getting the tape cutting it up
and sending it out.
Say, okay, what's you got for me?
Pretty soon, it ain't going to be no spring ball
like you and I had the spring.
Hey, I see you come summer.
Don't worry about it.
That's where you make a lot of your development, though.
I mean, that's where you grow a lot as a football player.
Is that time from January to May?
Those are some of your biggest games in the weight room
and your technique and what you do.
I know for me, you know, from first year to second year,
I have my biggest growth from that offseason and spring ball
and getting more comfortable in the offense
and more camaraderie with your guys.
So, you know, I think it just takes, you know,
your development back a little bit because you're playing the business.
And that's what's changed so much about college football
is that you better go get this bread
because you're not guaranteed at the next level.
So you may as well stick around in college for as long as you can.
Get your bag up.
Get a good financial advisor and save your chicken for sure.
But see, that's the thing, Johnny.
You see how you made, you say you made yours from February to May.
Somebody else would have came and said, oh, he did make some development.
We got three million dollars for him.
And then bye, Johnny.
See?
So that's why they do it away with spring ball.
Because I agree with you.
I got so much better from that time I got an opportunity to hit the waves and got an opportunity to really work on what I needed to work on.
Ocho getting out there every day competing.
And I could feel like, man, I'm getting better and getting better and getting better.
but you get these guys,
they're getting better and better
and they say, you know,
get me a little cut up
and they send their practice tape off.
Oh, that kid works out.
Oh, he's going to start for us.
That's $7.50.
That's a million dollars.
They already talking about top quarterbacks
going for three and a half to $5 million.
Oh, Joe, a 19 year old,
20 year old, three and a half to $5 million?
Yeah, hey, absolutely.
And when you think about it too,
hey, Johnny, the fact that these
these quarterbacks,
that they're not proven to a point
where they're going to come to you,
program and make that much of a significant difference and they're getting that kind of money.
So the pressure is on the pressure is on them.
Once they get the money and, oh, I'm a four star, I'm a five star based on where you come
from, based on what you did in high school, and you come to these huge entities in the organization
and they put all that pressure on you, well, hell, we pay you that kind of money.
You got to come and make a difference right away.
Yeah, I mean, look at Carson Beck.
Look at Carson Beck.
For example, not to mention just the money that you're making, right?
he's in Florida he's not paying state income tax he's seeing a lot of that bread on top of that
there ain't no way he's paying for a car and i see him in the cluster at live he ain't he ain't
paying for no bottles he's going out for free everything else you're walking in alumni sees you
at dinner i went to dinner with diego pavia this year i looked it was like a 15002,000 dollar bill
he ain't paid none of that so the perks you're getting on top of the money you're getting if you're
really smart about it. You can leave
college. If you're a guy like that after three
years, you can have $12,
$14 million cash
all day. Yeah.
Yeah. And, and, and,
but that's, that's the thing.
That's what you need to have happen.
Guys, and I don't begrudge the guys.
The only thing, and if you look at it
not, John Enocho, teams
are really not going after the high school guys
like they once did. They want a guy
that's already established. She already knows
the college routine. He knows he has study
Hall. He knows he has, you know, weightlifting and things of that nature. So he's already
abreast of the college experience. As opposed to getting somebody in that doesn't really
understand college. You hope they figure it out. They're mature enough. But let me get somebody
that's already gone through this. You know, there three to five million dollars. The top
receiver is going to go to one, probably somewhere between $750 and $2 million, maybe even
$3 million. Yeah. Man, hey, I ain't got no problem with it. But the problem, but you see what's
going to happen, Ocho, it's just kind of a very similar situation to, like, the Georgia kid.
You got the money and then left, Georgia's suing him.
Yes.
Hey, when it comes to that situation, Uncle Johnny, with Georgia suing him for actually leaving,
because he got the money and decided to leave, who's going to win that?
We don't know.
That's why they go in the court.
Somebody will set a precedent for it, and it'll kind of go off of that moving forward.
But listen to this, for single sport recordings, more than 3,300 plus college football players
had entered the portal by day two of the 2025 window.
That kills high school kids.
That kills these guys who are the guys like me, really.
The three-star guys who are, man, I waited a long time to get my Texas A&M offer.
I had to wait for a lot of people to turn that down.
I would have never got that offer living in this day and age.
I would have been going to Rice or Sam Houston.
Yeah, and plagued one year there.
And then guess what?
Did it came back and dumped a bag in your lap and you'd have been in Texas,
Yeah. And then I would have been somewhere else the next year and then somewhere else
I see you here too.
It's like one of these smart kids, one of these computer analysts, one of these coders and
things like that, MIT graduates, Apple, you got Apple, you got Microsoft, you got all these
companies. What you got for you, boy?
They dump in the bag out on you now.
It's crazy to see. I went to the Texas, Texas A&M game this year and I was around a lot of, you know,
our bigger boosters and we're sitting there talking a little bit like during half time and they're
telling me like oh watching our season develop with how much money we've invested into this team
they're like we're a nervous wreck watching these games like they have a lot of their money on
the line on these guys every single week every single year this isn't a couple million dollars
we're talking about this is tens of millions of dollars that one individual at one school can have
And unless you're sitting in that $5, $10, $20 billion range,
like somebody like at Michigan, you know, you've got to look back.
Michigan, maybe we're going to be like Larry Ellison is worth $250 billion.
Yeah.
That doesn't even make him flinch.
But you got guys that maybe got about $5, $600 million and you're dumping about $40, $50, $60, $100.
That's a different level of nervous.
So, you know, it is crazy, you know, the world that we live in.
I mean, sometimes it goes good, like a Miami Carson Beck situation.
That's the reason they're allowed to be in this round of the playoffs.
And then you have a situation where you're Bryce Underwood and you get smoked by 20 points in your bowl game against, you know, Texas.
And I think he'll be good.
I think if they give him time to develop, he'll be okay.
But it's a lot of pressure what you have on you right away with the kind of money that you're getting.
And they gave him a crazy deal coming out of high school.
what, $12 million, what $12 million, $13 million for four years.
And I think when you look at this, this 35 point defeat is the most lopsided postseason Alabama loss in history,
which was previously a 32 point loss, Nebraska in the 1972 Orange Bowl.
That's when they have many think that's considered the greatest football team with the Hizman trophy winner, Johnny Rogers.
Yeah.
That's what, I mean.
This is crazy.
I mean, this is like what Alabama did to Notre Dame.
the national championship in 2012,
this turnaround and they got smacked the same way
that they beat them down.
Like this was,
this was,
my first thing that I said to everybody is,
listen,
you can put another coach in there,
but Alabama will never be what they were
without the main guy,
Nick Saban,
running that program the way that he did.
It'll never be the same.
I don't care if you have a million disciples
that Nick Saban come through there.
They will never be him.
It's got to be somebody that's,
if you look at Coach Saban,
Coach Saving had coached in the SEC.
He was at LSU.
He won a national championship with LSU.
So Kaelin DeBoer has no idea.
I get it.
He won wherever he was.
But Washington is a different brand of football in Alabama.
Every place ain't Alabama in the SEC.
So you need Kirby Smart knows what it's like.
He knows what it needs at Georgia
because he was under Sabin,
Lane Kiffin, Pete Golden.
They know what they need.
Right.
And you look at Christabel, look at the type of guy that he gets, Signetti.
You have to understand what wins, but I need to see it up close and personal, Ocho, when you see, because I'm a visual learner.
You hear Cristobo talking, he said, hey, mass, something he said like mass wins.
You got to get them.
Yes, so.
Alabama, Alabama looks ordinary.
They look routine.
if I took those if I took that crimson away right and just put them out there you're like who the hell is that what division what D2 what FCS team is that man that's Alabama man not that slow not that there's nothing there's nothing special right about Alabama yeah not they nothing pops out on film Johnny and on nothing pops out on film like most Alabama teams that we used to seeing offensively the receivers
Offensively, the quarterbacks.
Most of the time it's been a running back.
I don't think they've had a running back come out of there since Jamir Gibbs.
That just popped out on film.
Like, you know what?
We're watching Alabama.
You got to watch out for this kid here.
Defensively, the de-line.
There's always a good detackle.
There's always a good end that can get after your quarterback.
They've always had a very, very good safety or a very, very good corner at some point.
Right now?
Yep.
I don't, I don't see nothing that they exemplifies the Alabama that we're used to
watching, especially after that goddamn outing the date.
I still got faith in Ryan Williams.
I still got faith in Ryan Williams that this is a sophomore slum.
We've had a couple of tough catches today.
Yeah.
But, you know, they don't have no Quinn and Williams.
They don't have no DeRond Payne.
They don't have no, Jonathan Allens.
They don't have no bar moors.
They don't have that.
There ain't no pass or tans.
No, C.J. Mosleys.
No, no, no, no.
There aren't any, uh, Coups.
Right.
There aren't any Ridleys.
There are no Julio's.
There are no Devonte Smith.
There's no rugs.
There's no Jalen Waddles.
There aren't any of them, Mocho.
No.
They're not.
Fernando Mendoza's season in Indiana.
First ever number one ranking.
First Big Ten titles since 1967.
First undefeated season in 80 season.
First Hoosier to win the Davey O'Brien Award.
First Indiana Heisman Trophy winner.
And now the first ever playoff college victory.
Mendoza.
he ain't
he'll ever have to pay for nothing
in Indiana
he ain't
he'll never
he ain't ever
he'll never
he's
he's what
you know what
he's going to be
what Hirshall Walker
was to Georgia
right
when Georgia
won the national
championship
and then look
now they did have
I think it was
Frank Sinkiewich
won the Heism
before
uh
before Herschel
but Herschel
is like Stenson
Bennett the same way
Stetson Benet
is the second most famous player in Georgia football history.
And we know there have been some great players.
Oh, yeah.
It's Herschel and Stenson Bennett on Mount Rushmore.
Now you could add whoever else you want to.
You want Matthew Stafford, you want Champ Bailey,
whoever you want.
But those two are definitely going up there.
For sure.
Yeah, Johnny, it's just like when you go to college station,
you walk in the convenience store and come out with a bag of N-Shay
and ain't got no money in your pockets.
Yeah, they're just.
So it's the same way with Mendoza in Bloomington.
Man, honestly, I was blown away by Mendoza.
Just being around him, I had never, I talked to him a little bit on Instagram
throughout this year, but it never really spent much time around him in person.
I know everybody's got their opinion of him, but for me,
I walked into the Heisman thinking one way and just spending time around him,
his brother, his family.
Man, I was blown away with the way he carries himself with how he is.
He's a very, you know, full.
football-loving, focused, you know, determined solid individual.
Like, that's all I got to say about Mendoza.
The kid has been impressive.
In every interview that he's done, he may not be everybody's cup of tea,
but if you're looking at it in the way that, you know,
guys who love the game and enjoy football and being out there,
I mean, he's one of those dudes for sure.
And he's putting on, I mean, this resume and what he's done this year is solid.
I mean, what else can you say about it?
It is.
balling I think the thing of Johnny when you look at him he doesn't have the biggest
arm he doesn't have Cam Newton size he doesn't have your or Lamar Jackson elucidness
it's like you just look at him like he wasn't a high with those stats like but when you
watch him play oh yeah you watch his ball placement yes sir yeah and you know uncle
Elk and Johnny, it's a lot of people like that
that when you look
at him, you don't see the intangibles.
There are certain things that you can't measure.
You know, it's not about, they don't run fast.
You know, they don't have the strongest arm.
He might have the size and look like a Josh Allen
but doesn't have the arm strength, you know,
or he doesn't have the dual threat of the legs of a Josh Allen,
even though he has somewhat close to almost like the build of him.
But then when it's, when it comes time, you turn on the film
and it's time to play football,
Oh, yeah, he's ready for that.
Oh, he's ready for that.
Oh, he's definitely ready for that.
Yeah.
Oregon Swarmed Texas Tech from the start to finish
in the Orange Bowl in 1-23-0.
Forcing four turnovers while racking up four sacks,
seven tackles for losses.
The first game and a shutout in school's history
since the 1917 Rose Bowl against Penn.
The Ducks had the Red Raiders to a season low
and passing yards, 21-15, rushing yards 78,
first downs nine,
is the first shutout of an AP top five opponent since 2018.
Texas Tech also had one of the top teams in the nation
and turnover margin coming in with a plus minus 17,
but finished the game minus three.
I don't know, look, I understand that Texas Tech didn't score,
but right now, I think Alabama actually look worse than Texas,
look worse than Texas Tech.
What happened to Texas Tech?
They didn't put their best player on the field on offense.
He stayed on defense the whole day.
That was their only chance for them to get a score today
is put that linebacker at running back or something
like they did earlier in the year.
I mean, look, I will say this over the last couple days of these games,
of these playoff games.
There's been some unbelievable hitting going on on the defensive side of the ball.
Swarming, popping people.
I've had the volume up on the TV, and I'm like, ooh, damn.
They're smacking.
folks out here. And I think Oregon set the tone early on, kind of a slow start for them
offensively. But they played really sound defense, turnovers. I mean, the turnover in the end
zone, the guy caught the ball like he was so surprised, the quarterback even threw it. I mean,
if you're in Texas Tech and you're going to drive the ball down to the eight yard line,
and that's how your drive is going to end. It's just a recipe for disaster. And they gave Oregon
so many chances. Oregon played really sound on the defensive side of the ball.
I think all the way around, Oregon was just the better team than Texas Tech.
I think Texas Tech is going to be back in this situation again because of what their conference is,
because of what they're putting in the NIL, because of their coach, their AD,
they have good pieces in place.
So they'll be back.
But Oregon looks like a Dan Lanny and Oregon team that was prepared, well-coached, offense.
They made enough plays.
Quarterback made enough plays.
and they just swarmed Texas Tech from start to finish.
But some of those interceptions, I'm like, bro,
where are you throwing?
You thought that was going to be completed?
You really thought that?
The fade was bad.
That was double covered.
Oh, you're thrown.
I wasn't even close.
Dante Moore, 26 and 33, 23, 24, zero touchdowns, one interception.
they ran the ball they ran the ball 47 time for 67 yards they had a little they had 300 yards
309 yards and they pitched the shut out i mean that has to change next week for them
absolutely oh yeah boy look here if they play like that if they play like they played
against texas tech indiana beat them like they beat like they beat like they beat
Alabama, absolutely.
I agree.
Indiana got, I didn't, I mean, you know, I've watched them the last, as it got closer
to the end, I started watching Indiana.
Obviously, I watched them in the Big Ten championship.
They got SEC speed.
Well, let me take that back.
They got Georgia speed, not Alabama speed.
Their defense was flying.
I was like, damn, I thought Texas Tech was supposed to be pretty good.
You know, I was like, well, damn.
Yeah, they weren't it today.
You know, I think you look at Texas Tech season,
they have, you know, wins where they had to go out and get it.
I think the Big 12 title game versus BYU.
But, I mean, they really didn't play too tough of a schedule this year
for being honest.
Like, Arkansas, Pine Bluff, Kent, Oregon State.
They played Utah, Houston, Kansas, Arizona State.
They lose.
Oklahoma State, Kansas State,
BYU, UCF,
like, what are we talking about?
That ain't like a run of the gauntlet.
Like they really,
and I think BYU was a decent team
and obviously one that almost got into the playoff,
but, you know,
not a crazy schedule from them this year.
And when they finally got tested
in a real game, you know,
they got, they just got beat, you know,
from start to finish.
Or I think, you know what it looked like to me,
Johnny?
It looked like like the coach,
they called a game playing.
Like, look,
If they don't get pick six or scooping scores, they can't beat us.
Let's not do anything.
You're losing a turnover by four, too.
You're going to lose the turnover by three.
Your chances of winning that game already go down astronomically.
So you're exactly right.
So there's like, no, we don't need to do.
We don't need to do anything special.
We don't need to try to do anything out of the ordinary because this team can't move the
ball consistently.
And unless something unforeseen, they block a kick, they get a scoop and score,
they get a pick six.
they came because think about it
Oregon ran the ball 47 times
for 67 yards
that's not even two yards of carry
that's one and a half yard to carry
Hey and at some point you have to abandon
things that aren't working
at some point you have to abandon things that aren't working
and make adjustments in game
and go to something else
Well Oregon didn't have to go to anything else
because Texas Tech couldn't do it
I mean because Texas Tech could
but you're not going to be able to pull that shit off
against goddamn Indiana
absolutely
not. That definitely ain't going to happen.
Absolutely not.
Jody, we're going to get you out here on this one.
Teams that make the college football playoffs semifinals
earn $14 million for their conference.
The ACC is given the entire $14 million to Miami
per front office sports.
Johnny, what do you think about that?
I mean, I think it's great for Miami.
Obviously, I think something happened at the end of the season
where the ACC kind of maybe trashed Miami or something a little bit.
So maybe this is them giving them their little lick back, being like,
yo, we apologize.
Let's keep everything, keep everything smooth.
But listen, that team, Miami, is popping up the whole conference right now for them.
Yes.
They're putting on for the whole conference.
They're making that whole conference look good.
So I think it's awesome.
What a great gesture.
I mean, I don't really know what $14 million does for a school anymore at this point.
But, you know.
NIL.
It helps with NIL.
I'll probably grab a couple players for them a little bit, you know,
a handful of players.
but look, Miami's rolling.
I'm excited about, you know,
obviously the matchup that they have next.
Ole Miss, that's going to be an unbelievable game.
Yes.
Going back to the, you know, Indiana Oregon thing,
you know, they've already played each other.
Indiana wins by 10.
But like we were saying earlier,
it's really hard to go and beat a team twice.
And in that game, Oregon only rushed for 2.7 yards to carry in that game.
So they didn't really run it very well on them again.
I just think Indiana,
as a different beast.
They're a different outlier.
They're a team that's going to be well prepared
and ready to, you know,
correct on the mistakes that they had the first time.
Oregon's going to have to play their best game to beat them.
And Indiana can, you know,
they can still win that game with making some mistakes,
I feel like.
And then, man, in the Miami side,
Bain is an unbelievable player on the defensive end.
You know, I know old has seen guys like that throughout the S.
but he is a special, special talent, one that is for sure going to wreak havoc in that game,
cause a lot of problems.
Listen, I can't believe saying through that bubble the other day and they just pick it,
take it to the house.
Like their defense is-
Ocho, Ocho, you want to talk about the block that didn't happen?
What happened, Ocho?
Oh, you got, you got, you got to initiate contact right away.
Who did initiate contact, Ocho?
Receiver, huh?
No, no, the receiver.
What number was that?
the receiver and where is he from, Ocho?
Because you like to say he from day counting.
I've been watching that kid if he was in high school.
Hold on.
Who wasn't, Ocho?
That was, that was Jeremiah?
Okay.
It was?
Jeremiah Smith, not Jeremiah was a bullfrog.
I know you heard that song.
Hey, and you know, you know what's funny too on is, uh, god damn.
What's young bull name that intercepted that ball?
Uh, I can't remember his last name.
Yeah, De La Lante.
A.
Yeah.
And he played a so perfect unc he was he was inching himself inside looking at the ball waiting on the snap.
You can't let him go inside, Ocho. You got to make him bubble.
Yeah, yeah, you got to make him more.
We do run the road ride, Johnny, what you always teach him.
Make him go over the top.
You got to go over the top.
You can't let him come up, Ojo.
That's the quickest way to it.
The motion messed him up a little bit.
He was looking at the motion a little bit.
He's got to keep his eyes on that receiver and his first steps got to be inside.
He took almost like a false step.
And the moment you were looking at that time, it was too late.
It was too late.
But listen, that's what you call a film study on.
That's what you call when you watch Asante Samuels play football,
when you watch every play football and you're trying to figure out how the hell they knew it was coming,
that's watching film and knowing based on alignment, based on what you're doing, based on formation.
Okay, I saw this on film.
This is what's coming.
That's the only way you make a play like that.
You got to trust it, though, Ocho.
We see a lot of times, guys, they don't try.
trust themselves.
They know it coming and they get there
and they just, no, no, no.
He trusted like you said.
His film study, I trust this.
Guess what?
If it ain't this, if they throw the scene in behind me,
they got me.
Hey, what it's only time to run the pump,
run the pump, run him out the scene.
Oh man, what?
Run, run Jeremiah Smith on the scene.
Now we got, hey, we got him dead to right.
Right, yeah, probably scores.
And that's the thing, but on that route,
you got to make that guy because if you let him
go underneath. There's no one there. He's got a free shot and he hit it on the
run, Ocho. He timed it perfect. He timed the snap count. What you call him, took the
false step. He stepped upon himself because he was kind of looking. That's what you just tell
him son. If you just get a pass and a appearance call, we'll take that. But you cannot let this guy
inside. You cannot let him get a running start because if he can catch a look and he caught, if you
look at the way he caught it, he caught that like that's for me. Yeah. He, uh, he, he, uh, he's
He really caught it, like they were throwing it to him.
Yeah, they were throwing at him, yeah.
It took him a while to spin it in his hand.
When Sam caught it, he didn't catch it clean.
It took him a while to get the laces.
And on that, you got to get that ball out.
It's already to the field.
It's already to the wide side of the field.
It's already you've got a motion out there.
It's a deeper throw.
It's not an inside bubble.
You got to, however, and we used to work on that all the time.
Sometimes you just got to throw it down the scenes.
You just got to catch it and throw it.
Got to get it out, no matter what.
All right, guys, thank you, Johnny for joining us.
