Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an iHeart Podcast. The Made for This Mountain podcast exists to empower listeners to rise above their inner struggles and face the mountain in front of them. So during Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast, focus on your emotional well-being, and then climb that mountain. You will never be able to change or grow through the thing that you refuse to identify. The thing that you refuse to say, hey, this is my mountain. This is the struggle. Listen to Made for This Mountain on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the
Starting point is 00:00:39 podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi. We dive into the competitive world of streaming. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. There are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience
Starting point is 00:01:04 is that they feel seen. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Sarah Spain, host of Good Game with Sarah Spain and the co-author of the new book Runs in the Family, an incredible true story of football, fatherhood and belonging, written with and about Las Vegas Raiders running backs coach, Dylan McCullough. It's the story of a football coach and father of four who sees his life forever changed
Starting point is 00:01:34 by the unsealing of his adoption records. And it's got a twist you won't believe. Based on the viral ESPN story I did a few years ago, this book will blow your mind and bring you to tears. Buy Runs in the family wherever books are sold. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Wow, wow, wow. The Cardiac Pacers did it again. Trailed the entire game. Trailed by as many as 15 points. But when it mattered the most, Tyrese Halliburton did it again. Go Halle, go Halle and Halle did he go.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Thank you ladies and gentlemen for joining us for another episode of Night Cap as you watch the Indiana Pacers and go on the road and what they normally do is take game one and they did it again. 111 to 110. I said it, they were down by as many as 15, but they do not give up. And I don't think they played really well, except the fourth quarter. Wells gave up 12 steals in the first half, 19 turnovers in the first half, but they found a way to hang around and they won the ball game.
Starting point is 00:03:16 I am your favorite up Shannon Sharp, my partner and co-host Liberty City's own bingo ring of fame, artery pro bowler all pros, Chad Ocho Cinko Johnson, and our special contributor who's been joining us throughout the NBA playoffs, the Arkansas Little Rock native, University of Arkansas alum, Iso Joe Joe Johnson. And we have a special contributor tonight to talk about getting one of the NBA finals,
Starting point is 00:03:42 and that is Cedric, Cornbread, Maxwell. Guys, let's get, look here, you know what? Damn, I mean, I'm so excited about this game. Starting point is 00:05:02 So please grab yours while supplies last. Guys, let's get right into this game. I thought, I really did. I thought OKC had this thing in the bag because they, I mean, Indiana cut it and then they extended by more than what the lead was before they dug into it. It was nine and the next thing you know, they cut it down to six and now you're back up to 11. They cut it down again and next thing you know, it's back up to six and now you're back up to 11 They cut it down again and next thing, you know, it's back up to 13 They cut it down again and get it back up to 15. I said that's too much to overcome Nothing is too much for these places to overcome. They believe I don't know what the outside world of word is thinking
Starting point is 00:05:37 We're on it's thinking but they have a never give up attitude. They do a great job I've heard Rick Carlisle on to the next play when guys would turn the ball over. They would make them a steak or bread. He's like, all to the next place. We could all to the next one, all to the next one, all to the next one. Kevin with a positive attitude and they go in there and they still game one, still home court advantage in game one. Joe, you watch this game.
Starting point is 00:05:59 And like I said, I didn't feel like they played really well, except the last quarter they had again, Oh Joe, we talked about it. Six guys in double figure, a lot of teams, 19, 14, 14, 16, almost had seven guys in double figure, but they played six guys in double figure. Joe Howell was Indiana, in this hostile of an environment, able to fall down by as many as 15 points, find a way to win this ball game. Man, they've done it all postseason. Guys, they've been relentless, they've been gritty, and they've been tough.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Even when they're down. You know, when the game started off and I seen that, uh, Hungry was starting at the five and Hardenstein wasn't starting, I was one, I was like, okay, maybe they don't want Hungry playing against Pascal Siatham. That's a bad matchup for Hungrys. And you can tell, Hungrys kind of struggled all night because of the pace that the Pacers play with. But the guard play was elite. I thought those dudes, they battled, they competed. And it was fun to watch, man, but I'm gonna be honest with y'all. I didn't see this. I didn't see this.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I thought OKC gonna take care of business. They had to leave pretty much the whole time for him. Brent, what happened, baby? Joe, you know, that's what happened when you got the big balls at the end. You think about, and you know what, and Shannon, here's the thing that's crazy. Joe came on earlier, I thought he had played in the damn game.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Then look at him, I thought he had played in the damn game. Then look at the thing. I was like, you did not play Joe. I understand the parlay's and all that, but the thing that you have, you have a team that is real it, you have Rick Carlisle believes in the scene. You have these guys believe in each other. And everybody says, Nate Smith, all these other guys who come in and make plays over and over again. Okay. See to me, this is what I said before this series. other and everybody says, Nate Smith, all these other guys who come in and make plays over and over again. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:47 See to me, this is what I said before this series. And I still feel that Indiana is going to win this series because I think championship experience and I believe here, here's what I really believe. I believe that, okay, see, haven't, hasn't been there before. So at the end of that game, a lot of those guys were knocking down shots. So they won't ice them no more. They don't they didn't they won't plan that way no more. At the end of the game, they got tight.
Starting point is 00:08:14 And Ocho, you've seen it before. You've seen it before, Shannon. When guys get tight and the nuts get tight, you don't know what to do. If somebody would have told me, Ocho, I'm going to do. Mm-hmm. If somebody would have told me, oh, Joe, I'm gonna turn over to you. If somebody would have told me that Indiana's gonna turn the ball over 25 times. 25.
Starting point is 00:08:32 The other team, OKC, is only gonna turn it over seven times and they were gonna win the game, I would have never believed that. I don't know the last time I've seen a team turn the ball over this, they had 19 turnovers in the first half. I'm like, bro, if y'all just, and I was looking forward to come on and say, you know what?
Starting point is 00:08:48 I think they got a chance to win. If they say, if they can get 10, I mean, 12 or fewer turnovers. So you cut your turnover in half, that gives you more opportunities to at least get the ball, a shot up. Ocho, watching this ball game and Shay was doing this thing, like I said, he said the hell with efficiency from the very first playoff game. Because he got 36 points, but it took him 30 shots to get it.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah, he's going to be ultra aggressive. What is it about what you saw from OKC? Because I'm sure you was thinking like, damn, OKC. But listen, I'm going to be honest with you, watching the game watching the game Joe and corn I thought I thought the game was over I thought the game was over because this league consistently okay see kept scoring this is obvious they build a lead they go to 15 goddamn Indiana come back then they going another stress they go on another run they get another lead I say well goddamn does the pace keep turning the goddamn ball over so at any point when they actually do have a
Starting point is 00:09:44 chance to get back in the game boom the goddamn thunder going on a run, so I'm thinking the game is over So I'm sitting back out relaxing they get to the fourth quarter Okay, okay both both ends both ends of the court both team is doing well and all of a sudden The goddamn thunder started missing shots and then the goddamn pace of starting shots. Where was Chad hungry? What was Chad hungry in this game at the end? What was Chad that Chad is supposed to be that dude, you know, and it's going to be, he's the second fiddle guy. He was invisible in this game and you have to have those tear guys step up.
Starting point is 00:10:22 You said it before Shannon, you had seven guys, almost seven guys on that pace routine who scored the basketball. You had some guys over there on that other side that did just kind of disappear. They cast their breath on them at the end. They disappeared and you can't do that in big games. What's surprising to me guys and Joe let me know what you think about this. Why would you change your starting lineup? You've been starting Isaiah Hardenstein the whole season, the entire playoffs. I'm going to dictate.
Starting point is 00:10:54 I'm going to dictate to you. I am not going to let you bring your ass in my house and dictate what I'm going to serve for dinner. You going to eat what the hell I put on the table or you going to go hungry. Take your ass home. Hey, look, I agree. I agree. My thing is, it ain't the fact that, okay, yeah, I was worried when they changed the lineup,
Starting point is 00:11:12 but down the stretch, man, you got everybody out there, six, seven, and under, we playing backyard basketball. Ain't nobody really got no advantage. That's actually plays the Indiana Hands, when you play them. Yeah, they're small, low ball. You only get one shot You ain't got no offensive rebound and ability and they're killing you in the inside
Starting point is 00:11:29 So, uh, I thought I'll be topping played great He kept him in the game after he slowed down and stopped her in the ball over long as he catch and shoot Crash yeah, man. He is perfect for this game right here. This is perfect for him. I thought he shine Hey, you know, give Rick Carlisle huge points. You have a real Carlisle, a huge voice. You did not let those guys give up. And that is what that's what championship metal is. He's he's the only guy out there from championship experience as a coach.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Right. Other other general over there, not championship experience. And I think it showed a little bit in this game. And the funny thing about it is if we talk about giving the coach credit, right? The coach can do all the coaching you want, but it comes to the players to be able to execute and not even give up. All the way to the last few seconds of the goddamn game. Conrad, them boys were losing. They was down and refused to give up. They really refused to give up. And goddamn Halliburton who they claim is Mr.
Starting point is 00:12:29 overrated. He's supposed to be so bad. Man. She, I, I tell you what I love about Joe, Joe, this is what I loved about it. At the end of that game and you and I played in it, you guys have played in, in football at the end of that game, in that stadium, you could have heard the damn mouse piss on played in it. You guys have played in football at the end of that game in that stadium. You could have heard the damn mouse piss on cotton in there. And that to me, that is a thrilling thing.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Not a cotton ball, a bail of it. A bail of it? Yeah. Hold on. Hey, hold on. I got one question for you. I got one question for you and Joe. Cornbread, I already know where you going with it.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Now I asked you before the series started and Joe Joe both of you picked the Thunder to win the series Yeah, I just want to know after tonight's game as bad as the pace is played Are you still sure you want to stick with the Thunder to win this series? I want to go seven games I don't want to I don't want to go five or less come there We what we're here we go talk about so I need to go all the way I need to go over to damn Good, July It's one game baby this why it's a series I just want to make sure I want to make sure we on point now you pick the tumbler I think I picked I picked the paces right so you have to understand each each game
Starting point is 00:13:42 Each game that's played is 100. All about it, we got to talk about that for the game. You can't come in here like that, man. You got to establish that for the game, so we made a friendly bet, all right? You established that in the last series. I tried to run that on you against the Knicks. You weren't going. Remember I said that to you?
Starting point is 00:14:00 No, what are we talking about? We talked about this before the series started. Nah, not a game. But not a hundred dollars a game, huh Joe? Oh, I'm saying, it's a five game series. Listen, it's a five game series, six, seven game series. Each game is a hundred dollars, depending on who the team wins. Boy, you slick, boy. He he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he I'm late to finish. But I didn't realize it. They got beat, uh, uh, OKC normally beat people up on the glass. And they ever beat them by plus 17. They blessed the ball, huh?
Starting point is 00:14:31 Thank you. That ain't my problem. You decided to switch your lineup up. So what you want me to do? Listen, that's what I was thinking when the game started. I'm like, man, what Heimstad is. But I know what they were thinking. They did not go on Hungry at that guard in Pascal Siakam.
Starting point is 00:14:49 That would have been a tough matchup for him. He wouldn't have been able to guard him on the perimeter. But I would have went down the stretch. I would have had some size in that down the stretch or something, man. Come on now. But here's the problem that you run into, is that when you go small like that, now you get cleaned up on the glass.
Starting point is 00:15:03 And now you're letting them cornbread, you know, you're letting them get second chance opportunities. Now you're giving somebody a second crack at you. It's Ochoa, and I feel Ochoa is like third down. All you hope to do is get the third down, but hell, if you let them capitalize and can't get off the field, what have you done? You force a missed shot.
Starting point is 00:15:19 But if you can't get the rebound, you've done nothing. Now you got to play an extra possession. And sooner or later, that catches up with you. I was really surprised. And that's what Golden State was really good at. Golden State was good at forcing other teams to play that small ball. You remember they had Aunt Iguodala
Starting point is 00:15:35 and they were playing basically Draymond at the five and everybody feel like, yeah, we got to play like that. But y'all don't play like that. They do. Okay, see, you play too big. You're one of the few teams that currently in the NBA that still play too big. So why wouldn't this in the most important games
Starting point is 00:15:52 of this young team assembled life, why would you go small when your advantage is to have too big? Hold on, hold on. Sometimes you overthink it. That's what happens. You overthink the process. You got there with this one girl, then all of a sudden you change. We're in the wrong
Starting point is 00:16:11 place right now. We need to be outside in front of OKC right now with that alcohol you guys are. We make so much self-winding. Because there's going to be some people pissed off and they want to get drunk. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Brad, Joe and I, I got a question. Listen, y'all, y'all, y'all are basketball, basketball, basketball, savvy on, you know, in general.
Starting point is 00:16:36 So let's say they change their lineup, right? You say you always went with the two bigs. What happened when you play against a team like the Indiana Pacers that runs up and down the court in transition? You think they understand that those two bigs might be a liability offensively and decently regardless of regardless of the boards in general? Let me ask you a question. Look, I'll put it to you in football terms. Y'all played the Cincinnati Bengals played three wides. Y'all and their team the team that good really good. Are you gonna chase it? You know what? They got really good. So instead of playing three wides,
Starting point is 00:17:05 we gonna go two tights and two wides. No, I'm gonna do what I did to get me there. So now if you're gonna play that small ass lineup, I'm gonna punish your ass inside. I'm gonna punish you on the glass. Because see, they're used to playing Seahawks and Miles Turner. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:23 You're not used to playing Wallace. Wallace doesn't start. Hardenstein, the two bigs, like I said, they're one of the few teams that still play, oh, like you guys used to play. Y'all had a true big and a true four. It wasn't no stretch, nothing. You stretched before you went into the game.
Starting point is 00:17:40 That was the only stretch that we would do. That was the only stretch that was going on, Cornbread. And so I'm surprised that OKC did this. And this is the most important, this nucleus and Dodknots, this is the most important series of their career. And he switched it up. And I just don't know why. Well, I think that sometimes, again,
Starting point is 00:18:00 you overthink the process. You do. And for me, I remember playing the Lakers instead of getting smaller, we got bigger. We had seven quarters all around, six team, McHale, Parrish, Byrd, myself, we got bigger. So you want to attack a team like that on the glass. That was OKC's weakness.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Everybody in the beginning of this series talked about one person I heard defensively, Doudour. What was he going to do defensively? Doudour was probably about 6'4". You got those guys up there, 6'8", 6'9", and he played a great game, but there were guys who disappeared. I stayed like you. I'm like you about dinner.
Starting point is 00:18:40 If you come to my damn house, don't be telling me you, you know, you, you don't eat this and you ain't, you don't eat that. Okay. I'm, I'm, I'm like you, you know. I hope you ate before you brought your black ass there. Cause you go get what I serve. You're, you're, you're vegan? Is that what you are? You're vegan? Well guess what? We have a damn poke chops and we always- Exactly. And you know, you know, I don't eat no know what we do we cooking it with damn Chris go Bro they have pass calcium had 19 points 10 rebounds Aaron Eastman 10 points 12 rebounds Tyrese Halliburton 14 points 10 rebounds miles Turner 15 points nine rebounds. Tyrese Halliburton 14 points 10 rebounds. Miles Turner 15 points 9 rebounds. You had four guys with damn near double figure rebounds.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Give me Chad Hulksman then. What did Chad do? When Chad gave you the night? Chad gave me 6 and 6. He's 2 for 9. 2 for 9 he gave you six point six rebounds. Isaiah Hardenstein gave you nine points nine rebounds. And so you didn't have what they had almost four guys in double figures. You had no guys in double figures. Yeah. And you had a guard that had as many rebounds as your biggest rebounder. So you played into their hands. Look, if I'm going to get beat, I've to get... Now, I can make an adjustment, Brian.
Starting point is 00:20:06 I can always... You know this, we can always make adjustments. But I'm coming out with what has got me there. And then I'll see how the game is playing out, and then I'll make an adjustment accordingly. I agree, man. Surprise. I'm like you, Joe. It surprised the hell out of me the fact that they changed what had gotten them there.
Starting point is 00:20:25 You understand what we gotten them there. You understand what we know he is. He's aggressive on the opposite glass. He's aggressive defense. Then in your, in your Tennessee, defensively, your, your strengths has always been those two guys running the floor, those two white cowards being in there, being able to cut things off. You took one of the towers away and Indiana feasted on the glass and that's how
Starting point is 00:20:49 Mind you they stayed in this basketball game and another thing got Joe. No, I'm gonna let you go Joe another thing that defense we talked about they allowed Indiana to shoot 48% from the floor and 46% from the three and we talked about their defense. We talked about Lou Dort We talked about Wallace. We talked about Caruso. We talked about Isaiah joke. We talked about all these guys Where was that defense because it doesn't mean anything your defense your office is only a good What can I get done when I absolutely got to have it done bread if I got a guy and we leave our office We leave the league of score and I got a guy and we lead, our offense, we lead the league in scoring and I got a guy that leads the league in scoring.
Starting point is 00:21:28 What good is that if I end down the clutch, I can't, current time, I can't get a bucket. Right. So all this defense that they, and they are, they're the number one defensive team. They lead in steals, they lead in deflections, they lead in field goal percentage. They are a very good team.
Starting point is 00:21:43 But you needed that tonight and you allowed a team to shoot 48% from the floor and 46% from the three. That'll get you beat on most nights. But I'm surprised that the Pacers were able to stay around with 25 turnovers. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core.

Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. No one was let go. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions.
Starting point is 00:25:30 In just a second, I'm going to ask it. I'm Leon Neyvok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Hey guys, I think when they got down, what they were down like 15. 15. They started playing that desperation basketball. You know, they started playing desperation basketball to where they started making threes. And, you know, like when you down like that, you started to play a little loose because you're trying to get back in the game.
Starting point is 00:26:35 And once they cut it to about six, I was like, all right, now. All right, now, hey, look, I was sitting there comfortable too. I'm ready to get on that. Now I'm talking a little funny. I say, man, now. I done towed a house up over here by an inch.
Starting point is 00:26:47 But I'm... I have never seen Joe Johnson, who was one of the coolest dudes around, come on before this game, and look like trash. Joe, what the hell is going on? Hey, I'm going to go ahead for a break. Joe is my dude. I'm like, Joe looked like he was frustrated.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Like, Joe just ran off the damn court. I was like, Joe, you all right? Hey, listen. Joe got some relatives. He got some relatives that played with OKC. Man, listen, I got some razorbacks over there, man. Hey, listen. Hey, look, when you watch the game,
Starting point is 00:27:19 it's hard for me to just sit here and just really enjoy because I'd be so immersed into the game. And I'm like, OKC got control of this. And then Indiana just relentless, man. Relentless. Look, Naismith, not Naismith, Nemmhar, Nemmhar down the stretch, he was a go-to guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:37 He was a go-to guy. He the one that would make it play. Hey, you know what I thought? You know what? I thought OKC had it. Because Naismith throw the ball and he goes, and he goes up and he didn't go up as strong as he needed to be. And then all of a sudden what could have you could have taken the lead. Now all of a sudden they cut back down the court and Shea gets a layup and I'm like, fuck yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I said, man, you digest. I, they'd have lost the game now. Oh, Joe, I can tell you what happened. I'm gonna tell you why Joe is still in this place. It ain't the game. It's some damn dead presidents he's losing right now. That damn dead presidents. That parlay. Hey, look what it is.
Starting point is 00:28:19 The Lincolns and Grants and whatever he's spinning right now, them things walking away. That's why he's frustrated right? Listen along along as I get my end he owe me a hundred dollars Hey listen Homers got it gotta give us some guys listen Yeah, I think they gotta go back They got to go back with the big lineup because you can try this small ball and it ain't it don't it don't fit you
Starting point is 00:28:43 It fits Indiana's in Indiana's favor. So, uh, because down the stretch, when you look, they can't get no second chance opportunities. You know, if you have Hardenstein or Hungers, you know, when Shady Doomis admitted, maybe they'll tip it out. You get another opportunity, but he getting one shot, and now you got to get back on defense. So, uh, I didn't like it, man.
Starting point is 00:29:03 I ain't like the startup. I ain't like the change in the line-up. Man, you the number one team in the NBA. Cornbread, Ocho, uh, why you switching things up? Make them people adjust to you. Exactly. Hey, I'm gonna ask you again, though, Joe. Listen, you tell me, let's say they do go big.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I mean, as a coach, you got to make adjustments and understanding that this is a transition offensive. I ain't gonna make adjustments and understanding that this Wait cuz you already know their liability on defense if you don't get that goddamn rebound they down the court running the four by one You know what I think you know what now playing it back in my head I Think okay see look that the series before Cleveland what What did Cleveland do? Play two bigs. Cleveland got ran off the court. See?
Starting point is 00:29:49 So he looked. I believe he looked. I believe they didn't look at it like that. And also, the Knicks. The Knicks had success. They had success with what? When they brought Mitchell Robinson and Cat in. Because Mitchell Robinson can protect.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Also now, you got Cat, can do what he wanted. Because Cat is not a defender. And he really doesn't want to play the five. he wants to play the four, you let Mitchell Robinson. So I think that played a role in it. I think OKC looked at those two and they said, man, they ran, and remember Cleveland is a good defensive team. Yeah. They got ran off the court.
Starting point is 00:30:20 They got beat 4-1. You saw what they did to the Knicks. They didn't have home court. They ran them off the court. So OKC said, you know what? Let me switch it up. I ain't switching up nothing. You're going to have to beat me, but you're
Starting point is 00:30:33 going to beat me at my best. Right, right. Now, you know, I get it. Game two, OK, I'm going to have to make some adjustments. But I'm not making no adjustments before I have to make adjustments. That's what I'm saying. Come on now. Hey, Brad. Brad, I'm like, you know what? Hey, my car cranked just fine and everything's rolling good. Hey, man, change my transmission. I want you to change the battery too.
Starting point is 00:31:00 No reason. It's down below. No reason. Can the check engine, come on. Kenny cannot drink before I start. In this next game right here, OKC, there's gonna be some assholes gonna be tight in there, man. But when you're playing a game like that and you got that in your home, this is a, I'm
Starting point is 00:31:20 sorry, but this is a must-win game for them. Absolutely. This is a must-win game. And. Absolutely. This is a must-win game and Joe Joe They'll come back Hey, hey, hey on a young bread and Joe, right listen, yeah if Hey, hey, hey, hey, I'm Brad and Joe, right? Listen, if the coach made a decision to go small right against the Pacers in the first game, is he going to change it back in the second game? Is he going to really sit there and take that sword and fall on that sword and
Starting point is 00:31:55 say, you know what, I made the wrong decision. If you let your dude, if you're a smart coach, you make, do you see that adjustment that you have to make? That's why I said in the beginning of this series, it favored the Pacers because they had a coach who had championship experience. It also been there with Larry Bird in Indiana when they played and were playing for a championship. He's won one before he's won one in Boston.
Starting point is 00:32:24 So his experience I think showed in that game and he was definitely what you said the whole time I think Shannon. He was great at saying go on to the next play. Go on to the next play and that's what happens. If you believe in your coach and now when you have players over there, second guessing what the coach is saying, that's going to be one thing. Cause you can see the look on everybody's face. I don't know why we're not there right now, man. We could be selling shots like a bug up until we be making so much damn money. You know, that's like, that's
Starting point is 00:33:01 like, go next year, next year we're going to take the show on the road. We're going to, Hey, we go We go talk we go talk to Adam Silver say Adam. Hey All right, we go. We want it. We ought to go to we want to go on the road We want to be a we got it. We'll be in the hallway. We'll be in the Hey, I'll take this show on the road now. Y'all gonna have to cut me in or cut it out, all right? Yeah, y'all have to cut me in or cut it out.
Starting point is 00:33:30 I'm telling you right now, cut me in or cut it out. Man, damn, I'm disappointed, man. Don't worry about it. But that's... Ocho, I give you a prime example. The Super Bowl. Talk to me. What did the Eagles defense do all year? They played cover two. I'll tell you I give you prime example the Super Bowl What did the Eagles defense do all year they played cover to the entire season they played they played to I think it played one Or two snaps. Yeah a single high safety in the Super Bowl
Starting point is 00:33:56 They were a cover to team Can you imagine if all of a sudden instead of being a cover to team all of a sudden they come out and they're gonna say You know what? We're going to play single high. We're going to play quarters. Well, that's not what you've done all year to get you to this point. Now, if I'm going out there, if you start to gash me in what I'm doing,
Starting point is 00:34:16 now I've got to make an adjustment. Why would I make an adjustment before I have to? Right. When you've been the best team all year. You've been, you won 68 games. You're one of the few teams that's won at least 80 games before you reached the finals. And then all of a sudden you let this team, and credit, Indy is playing well. I don't think, I think all four of us can agree.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Indy has played well. I think they've been the biggest surprise in the NBA playoff this year. They beat the 64-win team. They beat, and they've been the underdogs. They beat the Buc year. They beat a 64-win team. They beat the underdogs. They beat the Bucs. They beat Cleveland. They beat the Knicks. They beat the underdogs. You know what?
Starting point is 00:34:53 If they want to pull this off in the last 30 years, this might be the biggest upset. This might be considering. This might be Detroit, LA, beaten LA in 03. This might be the Mavericks beating the Heat in 2011. Because think about what they've got, the gauntlet that they've gone through. They've been the underdog in the first round,
Starting point is 00:35:18 in the second round, the third round, and the finals. And they're going up against the final, the MVP of the league and the best offense, the best defense. But Shannon said, Shannon be truthful about this thing. The Pacers have played better than anybody in the playoff. They played, they've outplayed everybody. And that includes OKC. OKC played, they've been okay.
Starting point is 00:35:44 And then some games in struggle, but the Pacers have been the best playing team during this NBA finals, during the during this whole NBA playoff. They've been the best team. So it shouldn't surprise us. And at the end of the game for them to make that shot. Oh my God. Oh, Halle. It was, I can just, I can feel,
Starting point is 00:36:06 I can feel the things you were talking about. I can feel Joe, I can feel Joe's pain when he came on. I can feel old Joe's pride when he was sitting there. And then, you know, and my parlay, baby, what's up, what's on that block? Hey, hey, hey, hey, bro, you gotta chill. Hey, you gotta chill, bro. You gotta chill. You gotta think about, I mean, look at,
Starting point is 00:36:27 Joe, guys, we think about, look who they beat. They beat first team unanimous all NBA selection Yanis. They beat defensive player of the year, Evan Mobley. They beat, he was a first team all NBA, Donovan Mitchell. They beat third team, Jalen Brunson, with an all NBA selection. I mean, so look at, look, now you got Shaye, Shaye, unanimous MVP, Jaylen Williams, third team.
Starting point is 00:36:51 I think Doran was on the all-defense team. Well, tell me, Shandyn, you're saying that. Tell me the player in Indiana that we're saying is the all-star player. Nobody, uh, Halle, Halle. Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh. Hey, nobody, you're saying Halle. Well, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, Halle, went to the all-star game this year, right? Nah, but he, but he is, yeah, he's a star.
Starting point is 00:37:16 He's a star. He's a star. They, they are not superstars. They are stars. Yeah. They, yeah. They, but the thing is they're by committee The only thing that you know is that late in the ballgame if you need a shot to win the tie Halliburton's gonna take it
Starting point is 00:37:31 Oh, hey, you can't let him Bread he just just like everybody do if that game was late the ballgame y'all know 33 33 is gonna take now Okay, y'all keep fooling around. Hey, yo What was I'm trying to figure out what Halliburton's dad's mother did in that game. Was he doing cartwheels out there? I mean, he was chill. He was chill.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Hey, he on probation already, so he kept his composure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yo, I don't even know, I mean, if that's my son out there, I'm doing a cartwheel out there in the middle of the floor. No, don't do that. No, no, no, no. That got you put in jail. You that, hey, hey, you already on. They gonna revoke your parole.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Look, I'm telling you what, the way that game played out is I'm just like, all you guys right now looking at it. In the beginning of this game, everybody had Indiana not playing. And then the turnovers, like you said, Joe, I kept doing like this like damn another turnover
Starting point is 00:38:28 How many times did you go throw the ball back in court? All now. I thought we were blown out. And then all of a sudden they reel him back in. Joe you've been there before. Oh Joe you've been there before. Shannon I know you've been there before. Out there what they call get your fishing pole out there and you reel that sucker You're reeling me you poke him and you're pulling back in he might go a little bit further But you can't want that line you got that thing in his mouth Oh
Starting point is 00:39:03 Fishing he don't know about no flat. It don no short fishing. He don't know about no flathead. He don't know about no butter cat, no child cat, no speckled cat. He don't know nothing about that. He don't know about no mangales. He don't know about no crabbing, no white perch. No. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Listen, he talk about fishing, right? You talk about actual fishing now. Now there's other perspectives in a different context that I can talk about, and you was the same thing y'all talk about when it go to fish. I still know how to catch, don't do that. I know how to catch man. We on probation, we on probation Ocho.
Starting point is 00:39:31 We on probation. Okay, okay, okay. We can't hear too soon. Too soon? Too soon. Too soon. All right, all right. Oh, I know how to fish.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Yeah, yeah, we know you get it. You can hunt too. You can hunt too Ocho. You can hunt, you're a good hunter. Oh, I'm a hunter now. I know my baby watching, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Shane. Yeah, two-leg hunting. But that's OK, we're going to talk about that.
Starting point is 00:39:49 We'll talk about that next, about three, four months. We'll talk about that deal. It's true. My bad, my apologies. My apologies. But you guys sick, but think about it. When the Pacers, when the Pacers win ballgames, look at the stat line.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Look how many guys they have in double figures. They're going to have at least at bare minimum five. Sometimes they get six, even last game they had seven guys in double figures. And those guys, and that's hard to plan for because you're like, okay, we got a key on, we're going to key on Jalen Williams and we're going to key on Shane. If somebody else goes haywire and gives us 25, 30, we gonna key on Jalen Williams, and we gonna key on Shay. If somebody else goes, hey, wine gives us 25, 30, we can live with that. Yeah. All the players are gonna do is have a bunch of 19, 17, 14, 13, 15, 16.
Starting point is 00:40:36 You have two nines and an eight. Joe, did you happen to see that play kinda at the end of the game when I thought it was shake got pushed shake out out and he pushed the he pushed the opposition away that is a little crap to me cuz that you don't see that from shake he's cool but all of a sudden he did he did like Shannon Sharp did at that Laker game that night with with Joe I can't bring it enough I'm sorry Joe I'm thinking about that you see Shannon bring your ass over here bring your ass okay bring your ass bring your ass and he you know when he told me Joe I didn't I didn't step on
Starting point is 00:41:20 the floor and step on the floor. I'm like, hell, you did step on the damn floor. I did, I did, I ain't never been where I looked at. I was like, damn. There's a damn camera angle. Are you like this? You can bring your ass over here. I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:30 I looked down to the feet, I'm like, hold on, let me get the tube back. I don't think y'all ain't on the floor. Did you have something? What? Huh? Did you have something in your system that night? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:41:39 Okay. No. I don't, I don't, I don't. All the time, it's gotta be a private event. I don't, I wouldn't drink out in public like that. Hell. Yeah, you know they sometimes Oh, you'd be in certain situation now regardless in your environment. You got to stand up for yourself You just let him do any kind of way when the camera I was surprised and I agree with you bread. I thought you know, I thought they let him play to a certain
Starting point is 00:42:03 They were letting the play out. That ain't no foul. That ain't no playing tonight. That was, that was eighties basketball. That was, yes, yes. That was where it was physical. It was a lot of bumping. It was a lot of pushing, body ground. And what it does, it favors Indiana
Starting point is 00:42:20 because they're the more physical team. Indiana Pacers are the more physical team. OKC is more of the more physical team. Indiana Pacers are the more physical team. OKC is more of the finesse team. And because of that, the finesse at the end got pushed around by the team that was more aggressive than that was Indiana. Man, they got to have some size in the game, fellas. This is why OKC lost. Man, y'all know that, man.
Starting point is 00:42:44 Come on. They had their lead, kind of let their foot off the gas a little bit, and Indiana is going to do what they've been doing the whole postseason, man. They're going to keep playing to the buzzer sound. Now, at the last five to seven minutes, when you playing small ball, that's going to work in Indiana favor, man. You don't have no size in there to come back nothing. Defensively, you can't get no offensive rebounds. They limiting you to one shot and they pushing it down your throat.
Starting point is 00:43:09 I just thought, okay, see, yeah, like, like you said, cornbread, they, they overthought it, man, why would you change up your lineup like that? Okay. If it doesn't work in the first five minutes, okay, we'll make some subs and we'll get some guys in, but outside of that, I'm not letting y'all change what we've done all year. We got the bet. We're the best team and we've been playing this way all year.
Starting point is 00:43:29 And now I get to the game, and all of a sudden, I'm gonna change what I do? It's like, when I heard them say, they have to change the lineup, I'm like, why would they do that? Yeah, because that's what I did. I was looking at it, because I'm looking at it, I'm like, hold on. This guy said, I'm like, man, hold on, Wallace doesn't what I did. I was looking at it, because I'm looking at it, I'm like, hold on. This guy said, uh, uh, uh, I'm like, man, hold on. Wallace doesn't normally start. And he didn't die on him. I'm like, well, who normally starts?
Starting point is 00:43:50 That's like, well, somebody must have got hurt. And then I see Hardenstein. See, Hardenstein's supposed to be up on that first line. Not on your second line. Because what happens, like you said, guys, if you notice, Indiana, okay, they starting to make a comeback. Now, they missed a shot. Guess, they starting to make a comeback. Now they missed a shot. Guess what they can do?
Starting point is 00:44:07 Get another opportunity. Yep. Because somebody, hey, somebody get a rebound because you don't really have those sides in there. Basically you got guards, all guards. Oh, you got Shae the guard, Lou Dorrance, the guard, Wallace is a guard. Uh, uh, uh, Williams is a guard. And you play with Shae.
Starting point is 00:44:23 And Chet Hungren played like a guard. Played like a guard. He wants to be a guard. He don't have, like I uh, we live as a guard and you play with Chad. Chad Hungren played like a guard. Played like a guard. He wants to be a guard. He don't have like a... Hey, you know what's funny? You know what's funny? Everybody, everybody already seemed like they crowned a Thunder before the series even started. Now we talk about now the Thunder lose.
Starting point is 00:44:38 They had the whole game won, obviously, into the last three, two minutes, whatever it may have been. Now Joe and I, Cornbread, even you say what they need to do and do what they've always done the past few series starting to bigs right now. You know, I'm going to tell you, I'm going to tell you how the basketball gods work, they're going to start they two bigs and then get the ass ran off the goddamn court. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Listen, I guarantee you that's what happens. I just, it's just the way it's just happens. It's just the way you work in general. It's just the way you work in general. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather lose your way or lose somebody else's way? I'd rather lose my way. Because that's what I got to do. Like Brad said, I got to dance with what got me there.
Starting point is 00:45:19 I'm not going to change because, hey, you need to change. No, let me see what they got going on. And then I got me to change of clothes in the car. So if I'm overdressed, if I'm overdressed, I take my ass to the car and then I'll come back. But I'm not finna change, you say, hey, man, you gonna be overdressed. And then I walk up in there with blue jeans on,
Starting point is 00:45:38 and it's a black tie affair. Nah, I'm gonna bring you a change of clothes, and then I'll dress accordingly once I get there to see what's going on. Now you're a country boy, where you to change your clothes, and then I'll dress accordingly once I get there to see what's going on. That's a good one. Now you're a country boy. Where you gonna change your clothes at? You out in the car or you...
Starting point is 00:45:50 Yeah, yeah, you know, we changing the car. You know, they ain't never been no problem for us. I said bad. But I was... But look, you gotta go back... I mean, the last time I think it was LeBron, I think it was what, 20, was that 2017? 2017, when he was hitting all those game winners. You remember he hit that one against Indy and he hit that one against Toronto.
Starting point is 00:46:14 And he played up Halliburton. I don't, I can't remember a guy hitting this many game winning or game tying shots in one playoff run. You're right, you're right. And you can see these plays though. this many game winning or game tying shots in one playoff run. And you can see these plays though. And Joe was good at this. I wasn't that dude because we had Larry Bird guys like that. Man, you are MVP in the finals playing with Larry Bird. What did you talk about?
Starting point is 00:46:38 I was pretty much a bitch. I can tell you that. But, but, but I know at the end of the game, when that ball was going to be shot, I was going to get a rebound because you had Bird shooting the basketball. When we look at Hollenberg right now, this might be that this, this is the craziest thing we think about. A guy that all the other players in the NBA said it was the most overrated player. And now they've stepped up and kicking ass and taking names every single game.
Starting point is 00:47:09 That is ridiculous. And you know it's coming. You and I can see it at the end. When they got the ball, I was like, oh no, it's not gonna happen. It can't happen again. It can't happen again. No, it can't.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Yeah, I mean, think about it. He's hit game winning shots. He's hit game, remember. He's hit game. Remember, he hit the game winning layup against Milwaukee. Yeah. He hit two game winning shots against Cleveland, hit the game winning against the Knicks,
Starting point is 00:47:33 and here we are again. He's got five game winning shots. And if I'm not mistaken, hell, all of them might be in this playoff run. He's been phenomenal. Early in the game for me though, guys, he, he, he, he's not aggressive enough. It's like he just kind of, he's so passive and he let everybody else kind of make plays. But let him hang around and he get him a chance in their fourth quarter. He gonna come alive and he came alive. And he made that. Obie Toppin was key though. Obie Toppin was key tonight. Let me ask you. How many times would he made that over to over top it with keto
Starting point is 00:52:25 Oh, we're talking with key tonight Me ask you this how many times have you seen that from the great Michael Jordan? Games where he just coast along get over other people involved and then at the end of the game You know what the assassin is gonna be and because he got other people involved in the game, now you can't run away from the NIMH hearts, you can't run away from all these guys. Mount Turner, he had a huge three. Everybody started hitting shots because now he had them involved. They were confident and you could see the wind just being taken out of the
Starting point is 00:53:01 sails of what was going on and okay. See it was, if it were for me, this is Joe. I'm like you about this. And I'm sure you guys are like this in football. My man, my best thing I used to love Osho was I used to love when I went to somebody else's arena and I saw them kids start crying when they would leave the game. I love that. Oh, they can't over their loss.
Starting point is 00:53:27 I was like, that was my, that was my, that was my pet feed. I loved it. Yeah. And you look at, hey, late that ball game, Nimhar, Nimhar was going one on one. So give me the ball. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:38 Give me the ball. You know what? He going at folks. He played with Shay. So he comfortable playing against Shay. Yeah. He played on the same national team. So it ain't like, you know, this ain't foreign to him. He like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got this.
Starting point is 00:53:50 Because confidence was oozing out of him late in the game. Oh, that boy was getting to it. You hear me? And it was like, they was breaking down the defense so much that they were getting wide open jumpers. I'm like, man, what is old KC doing? Joe, how much that parlay was tonight? Not that you're going to get it, but I'm just saying. I'm like, man, what is okay? Say, do it. Joe, how much that probably was the night? Not that you're going to get it, but I'm just saying, I would have got 12 bands, man.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Would have. Somebody get, somebody get Joseph down to Alka Seltzer. Cause there's that stuff running down after that shot, that holler. It had to be some brown stuff running down his leg. That's it. Hold on, hold on, Joe. Joe, you was gonna lose because that was favorite.
Starting point is 00:54:27 You didn't cover the spread. Man, I wasn't talking about no spread, uncle. I had a couple players who was gonna do what they was doing, and I was finna win. You hear me? Hey, wear a thousand? Yeah, man, for a little or nothing, too, Ocho. I ain't bet but a little or nothing.
Starting point is 00:54:43 Guess what? And you got a little of nothing, so is Steven. Fuck yeah. Yeah. Hey, that would have been nice, boy. That would have been nice. You talking about for me? You talking about for me? You, we could have split that.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Oh, no, no, no, no. Hey, check this out, guys. Game one, the Pacers, it was their fifth comeback victory from a deficit of 15 or more points in the 2025 NBA playoffs. That's the most by a team in a single postseason since 1998. Check this out.
Starting point is 00:55:13 The Pacers, the Bucs had them, the Bucs were up seven points in the final 35 seconds with a 98% chance to win. They lost. They were, the Cavaliers had them down seven points in the final minute with a 96% chance of winning and they lost The Knicks had a ninety nine point seven percent win rate up fourteen in the final three minutes They lost the Thunder had a ninety six percent chance to winning the game up nine in the final three minutes the Pacers
Starting point is 00:55:49 104 Only four teams have won a playoff game despite Leading for the 30 seconds or less in 1999 the Spurs game to Western Conference finals. They only led 10 seconds the Mavs 2001 game five in the first round, 30 seconds. Uh, Lakers game four West finals, 2002, 13 seconds. They take them numbers, take them numbers. You just got take it to the nearest bathroom and go down the damn toilet. That's what you're doing them.
Starting point is 00:56:19 That's what I hate about all these guys right now with all the stats. Joe, and we look at old Joe joke when people start getting to a game A game is about heart at the end of the game football baseball Whatever it is all the analytics that we want to go down all these numbers you give Shannon when you say 98 percent this then the other 98 you got the hell a set of balls at the end. And that's what wins games. I don't care who you are. I've seen nice on Joe. I saw Joe put down a Paul Pierce with a, a hesitant dribble.
Starting point is 00:56:54 You remember that place he was trying to steal the ball from you, Joe. And you, you rocked it. You were neat. Yeah. I was like, I was like, damn boy. And I was like, Paul, after the game, I'm like, I'm like, yeah, damn Paul. And I was like, Paul was my boy. After the game, I was like, yeah, damn Paul. I said, yeah. And here's the worst thing about it, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:57:12 That game was in Boston. And Paul went down and didn't get the ball. The problem? Exactly. Hey, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look,
Starting point is 00:57:23 look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, by several more points in the final three minutes of regulation in the NBA finals over the last 28 post seasons. Wow. Zero for 121. Wow. What does that do right now? Oh, I know.
Starting point is 00:57:52 And they got one for 121. And the other is up one game. And now all the pressure is on the young basketball team. Now, can they come back? They got a possibility because I mean, I don't think I've seen anybody, you know, you and I still on our own, but this damn shade is different. How?
Starting point is 00:58:11 Damn, he is, he's a, let's use the word, we like you. He's a bitch. That's how we would say if he was, I was playing against him, we'd be all a bitch. Oh, that dude's a bitch, man, he's a bitch. Hey, they're getting, they, new boys out there playing, though.
Starting point is 00:58:25 I'm talking about both teams, guard-wise, they playing great defense, it's physical. I love to see it, man. The competition level's at an all-time high. But, man, OKC can't play that small ball against Indiana. I'm sorry, guys. They gotta get back to the stronghold. Hey, honestly, honestly, y'all, if you think about it and you look at the way things are played out, not only during about it, and you look at the way things are played out, not only during the regular season,
Starting point is 00:58:46 you look at the way things are played out during the playoffs, the analytics, the stats, the numbers, everything you've written down, the way the game played tonight, do you not see how the basketball gods have this thing lined up for the Pacers to win? Can you not see it? You can see it, like, it's playing itself out in real time,
Starting point is 00:59:04 and a lot of people aren't paying attention to it because they're not looking at the past. They just listen. It's right there for you. So if you're a gambling man, if you're a gambling woman, if you play in that world of parlays and all that stuff, bet your money with the paces. I don't do it. I'm telling you, Joe, that's why you lost the night. Yeah, chill. They don't back. They're gonna big gotta bounce back They don't have a choice. Yeah, no Passed Galsy. I come in game one 19 points 10 rebounds Joins Dale Davis as the only Pacers with a 15 10 game in the finals Oh be topping game one 17 points five rebounds five made three-pointers only Reggie Miller has more three-point Five made three-pointers only Reggie Miller has more three-point
Starting point is 00:59:50 Made in a game in franchise finals history despite the loss she dropped off almost a 40-piece He had 38 points five rebounds three steals That is the most points in a finals debut since AI had 48 in the game one in the 2001 finals against the Lakers He didn't really get no help though honestly. Shay after game one loss he said it's a 48 minute game the Pacers teach you that less and more than anyone else in the league the hard way. He's absolutely right. Yeah he is. He's right. They gonna make you pay for the mistakes and once you get comfortable you think it's over, they're going to be steady fighting and swinging.
Starting point is 01:00:28 And they're going to catch you. And it's going to be night-night. It's hard, it's hard, Brand, you know, like, it's hard to reverse that momentum. You let a team get momentum, they see a couple go in, and then you miss a couple? Now you start, man, I don't want to shoot this. Let somebody else shoot. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, you take it. I don't want it.
Starting point is 01:00:47 Uh-uh. And then all of a sudden, and you're like, damn, he hit another one. When did Nemhar turn into Kobe Bryant? Where's Kobe? So man, when did Obie Toppin turn into Steph Curry? Yeah. Well, you know what happens? That is confidence from the coach.
Starting point is 01:01:03 Rick Harlow is giving those guys the green light, the play fast. Rick Harlow as, as you would know, Joe, at one time was more of a control guy, the way he controlled his players. But now I talked to Quinn Buckner who does radio and television for those guys. He said, all of a sudden Rick Harlow said, yo guys, go out there and play. Play the way you want to play. And we're going to win the basketball game because we're going to be creative. We're going to have tenacity and we're going to do something that nobody thinks. Nobody in the NBA right now thought this is going to, I looked at all the experts,
Starting point is 01:01:40 especially a guy, Burke over there. He was like, Oh, I'm turning him right now. Oh yeah. These are about to die. Oh, yeah, you did. Somebody get mature shoes and escalate it. You know, this is what I'm gonna do. This is what's gonna happen. Dude, you got to play the game.
Starting point is 01:01:54 You can't talk about it. You got to play the game. Hey, Joe, think about what you just said too early, not too long ago, right? About Halliburton not being aggressive at the beginning of the game, being very passive. But look at the method to his madness, right? He's being passive allowing everybody else to get themselves in rhythm allowing everybody else to gain that confidence as the game goes on Then look at the shots. They hit later on in the game
Starting point is 01:02:15 Shots count at the most opportune times where it matters most and then what does Hallie do? I'm not saying he had that mama mentality. I'm just saying he's acting mama-like. And he's been doing it all playoffs. All playoffs long. He has. Hey, the chat is asking, they want to know, Cornbread Joe, who the real 31? The real 31 right here.
Starting point is 01:02:38 Damn, bro. Hey, Cornbread, Cornbread. Joe, Joe, the real 31 is retired up in the balls and cards. This is my number two, cornbread. I know who you are, Joe. I believe in you. But between you and I right now, there's only been 33 guys in the history of the NBA
Starting point is 01:02:56 been a thousand feet. You're right, you're right, you're right. Hey, I buy that. I'm not, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, hey, I buy that. I'm out. Hey, look. But the one thing you could have done was at least put my initials in the jersey or something while I was hanging up there. You could have done something for you, boy. Come on, now. The 31 up there.
Starting point is 01:03:12 Yo, yo, you and I went up together, baby. We went up together. Don't you worry about it. We went up together. When I pulled it up, I was like, Joe Johnson, that's me and him going up together. Hey, hey, hey, because when I see it in the rappers, I show my kids, I'm like, yeah, that's my number right there, baby.
Starting point is 01:03:27 That's daddy right there. That's daddy right there. That's the day. Bad bread, I ain't gonna lie, man. In 81, when y'all came back on the Sixers from that 3-1 deficit, that was sick. I wasn't sick about that, man. That was as...
Starting point is 01:03:44 I'm still giving Daryl Duncan the Caldwell Jones for that bulljie in the pool. What was the second about that, man? That was as... I still have to give a Darrell Duncan to Caldwell Joe for that bulljie-dee-poo. What the hell? You know what? It was one of the toughest series I've ever played. And, Shannon, I know you always talk about Joe, and Ocho, you guys always talk about what you do,
Starting point is 01:04:03 and where you fit. the way you did. But if you've ever been ISO on one-on-one with Dr. J on the right side, right hand side of the lake and you see 8,000 people start to stand up, all you stand is old shit. Something bad about to happen. So, so I've been in them pressure situations. I know what it's like, but yeah're playing the Sixers and playing during those times during the eighties and watching Joe play and then the NBA now in the day. It's changed from where, but where I thought it was.
Starting point is 01:04:33 But tonight's game was more about the eighties. This was physical. This was, I'm knocking you around. This is what I loved about the game. And it seemed like it always reverts back to that. At the end of the day, the game reverts back to the physical play of the teams. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, listen, letting the boys play, obviously in this series, don't interfere in the game. Don't interfere in the game unless it's an absolute foul and it just has to be called.
Starting point is 01:05:09 Let it be physical. Yeah, if you don't see no blood, you don't see no blood, ain't nothing happen. That was during the eighties. And I saw that with magic. I saw that with worthy. You know, during the eighties, that's when they had, they put in the Lake Red Foul,
Starting point is 01:05:26 because of the Lake yourself took series. When- That bulljab, man, what you call it, get that bulljab with a Kirk Rab- with a- with Kevin McCann smacked Kirk Rabin's ass out the sky. That was, hey- You suspended, you suspended for the rest of the season
Starting point is 01:05:39 with them type of fouls nowadays. Oh, yeah. Nah, hey, baby, y'all was wild. Dwayne Lambert, hey, you remember when Lambeer came down on Bird? Yeah. Yep yep. You remember when Parrish punched him about three or four times in the face? That was Kobe Bryant got arrested so he was the one last dude that got the two peaks. Chris Childs. Chris Childs got it. And dudes now they ain't gonna fight. They don't want no no no no I can tell you like this it was just like yesterday when I think about the lakers and I said this last
Starting point is 01:06:14 time I was on your show Shannon I wouldn't give a magic when walking across the street right now and and six dogs were chasing them I wouldn't anybody. I'd get my damn phone out and then take pictures of it. And all them guys right now. I hate those guys. Joe, you were not played in the year where we didn't change jerseys. And, and Shannon, you played in the era. Now you see guys after a game, they all holding up the other guy's jersey. This guy just kicked your ass. You own up a jersey. Well, yeah you were hey I look you could give me no job. You don't got three picks on me. You think I'm with a man
Starting point is 01:06:53 Let me get that jersey. Hey, I don't want it Hold on. Hold on. Hold on cornbread not back back back then brave We always playing in the 80s. Did y'all y'all weren't friends outside of the game of basketball? He don't know. Man, first of all, Ocho, we didn't have no damn cell phones. So we couldn't get a guy's phone number. And I didn't know a guy like that. I didn't wanna know.
Starting point is 01:07:15 And I'll tell you what I didn't do, Joe. This is what I didn't do, Ocho. This is what I didn't do. I wasn't going to pray with another guy before chapel. I wasn't doing that. I wasn't doing that. He better pray that I don't hit him pray with another guy before chow or I wasn't doing that. I wasn't doing that. He better pray that I don't hit him in the back or something. That's what I had to have a head. I didn't believe all that.
Starting point is 01:07:32 Like, well, my brother, we going to do the no, no, no, no. And that's why I respect what Dremyn Green does from time to time. He crosses the line and he had it with me during the the series where they played the Southern when he kicked Jalen Brown in the head and I just happened to tell it I said on there I said if he didn't been during during the 80s and that would have happened oh somebody when somebody would have fired his ass up but but what he does now dudes don't do that joke you know if you follow the guy if you follow the guy
Starting point is 01:08:05 hard you know what was gonna happen you know what you know it's coming off the bit and you go down for layup you already knew what was gonna happen it's too much money to lose now bread they ain't throwing no punches these dudes make so much money nowadays they get suspended for 10 15 15 games, that's four, five million dollars. Yeah, I get you. Nah, I got you. I might have to go, hey, bro, hey, don't do that no more, man. Cause I don't want to lose. I don't want to lose this, but I don't want to lose this, buddy. And you're sharing that why, sharing that why you saying that.
Starting point is 01:08:36 You know you, that thing that showed me who you were. I've seen you play football before, show me who you were playing football. But that thing you did when you were in've seen you play football before show me who you were playing football But then you did when you were in in LA at that game. I think you know me not with things about losing money Oh, no, but the thing was though like we played back when I came up. Oh We'll get your ass back Don't worry about don't even worry about it. Hey, come on, babe. Hey uncle about to come up by that and add that sweater How much it was 4 000 he told him he said it was $4 000 so you know, you know, he was in berkeley. He was in berkeley000. So you know he was in Beverly Hills.
Starting point is 01:09:26 That's where he was. He wasn't shopping like me. I go to the North Sheets, rap. That's where I go. He was like, he was in the real, he was in Beverly Hills someplace on Rodeo Drive buying something like that. I don't even know where he bought something like that.
Starting point is 01:09:40 A $4,000 cardigan? I ain't never heard of that. Who that was by, who made that? Ain't nobody made it, man. The Volume. The Made for This Mountain podcast exists to empower listeners to rise above their inner struggles and face the mountain in front of them.
