Starting point is 00:07:10 That's SheeShay Media and my clothing company, 84, with 84 being spelled out. We got a special guest joining us in a bit, Ghost Face Killer. But first, Ocho, in the game in Brazil, the charges take down the Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 2721. This is the reason what you saw tonight is that why Justin Herbert is held in such high regards. 25 or 34, 318, three touchdowns, and the game ceiling drive in which he took off and run after Chris Jones, and we saw the two guys getting it on the sideline, Tranquil said that's not your responsibility. You got outside rush. You tried to cross the guy's face. You got washed down
Starting point is 00:07:52 when you know there's nobody, there's no support over there. That's why he was going at Chris Jones. That is not your responsibility to go inside. If that guy starts up the middle and then gets outside, ain't nothing you can do, CJ. But that's why he and Train Kuil was getting it on the sideline. He's like, do your job. That's not your job.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Do your job. But the Chiefs go on the road in Brazil and they win a ball game, 27, 21. It's been a long time since the Chiefs have lost a one-scored game. But, Ocho, I saw some things tonight that I don't like of what I'm seeing with the Chiefs. Offensively, I think they'll be okay. They need to be able to run the football better. I mean, they can't run the football.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Those scrambles by my homes. I can't count on my home to give me 57 yards rushing the game, Ocho. But watching this game, looking after the charges, they did win. They took down the three-time defending AFC champs, and they did it in fine fashion. What did you like about what you saw from the charges? Listen, the first thing about the charges that I did like, I like what Justin Herbert did. Listen, the game was a little sloppy in the beginning of, but as the game went on, the charges offense played extremely well. Again, another thing, my favorite receiver, one of my favorite receivers in the NFL is Laderius McConkey.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Laderes McConkey looked extremely well. He's picking up exactly where he left off last year. Yes. The addition of Ken Allen and Quentin Johnston. If we can get Quinn Johnson to be a little bit more consistent. Unk and catching the ball and try to eliminate some of the drop that he had last year, they are going to be all right because that defense, they was flying all over the place. They made some great plays.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Derwin James with Derwin James. Khalil Mack also contributed in some important areas as well on certain down the distances, and they look good. I thought the Chiefs had an opportunity to come back. I actually thought they were going to come back when he decided to go towards the end of the game and chose a loud spags and that defense to take over from there. but it was a sloppy it was a sloppy first half
Starting point is 00:09:53 but that's really good. I'm watching, I don't know what Kelsey was thinking on that drive route. He watches, what's Derwin James? He does this. I see a DB does that.
Starting point is 00:10:07 He's telling me it's man coverage. He's telling me they're locking it. Yeah, yeah. He tells me he does this. And that's why my home's like, what are you doing? And he knew it at the end. It's like, bro, you got to keep going.
Starting point is 00:10:19 That's what you call it drive, a shallow cross, but whatever the case may be. He's in man coverage. All they got to do is if he keeps running, the ball's going to hit him on the hands. He turns up. It's a touchdown. Now, look, we don't know, I mean, now you possibly maybe they're on-side it. They got their timeouts. Maybe they do what they did.
Starting point is 00:10:38 But if Chris Jones takes that same angle, we're going to get the same result. We'll never know. But there were some mistakes that were made that you can't have. I mean, the first player of the game, you got two guys running. you got two guys running crossing route and somehow Kelsey picks his own guy and looks like he's separated his shoulder or sprained his shoulder yeah like damn how many times have you oh chill how many times have you run crossing route I've never in 14 years of running crossing routes I've run the shallow cross run the drive where I'm trying I'm the picker and sometimes they're
Starting point is 00:11:08 picking for me I've never collided with my own guy I mean listen it's all about understand it's all about spacing knowing we a depth is supposed to be and if you have somebody pressing you which I think, which might have been the problem, whoever was pressing either through Kelsey off his route, either through Kelsey off his line, which is why they ran into other. But also, if it's man to man, you got to have your eye line.
Starting point is 00:11:29 You got to have your eye line up in front to see what's in front of you anyway. So I'm not sure how that happened. Oh, Joe, plus the fact is it's already understood. One of you are high, the other is low. One of you guys are three to five, the other guy, five to seven. I don't know who's supposed to be high.
Starting point is 00:11:47 I don't know who's supposed to be low. You can see Xavier Worthy was low. So that means Kelsey was supposed to be five to seven. I don't get it. I don't know. I don't. And like I'm like, damn, guys, that's probably a precursor of things to come. Because, oh, Cho, now how many times?
Starting point is 00:12:06 That's the first 15. We don't talk about that. We had that it walked through. We discussed it last night before the game. Hey, we talked about it. Hey, everybody liked these plays coming out. And damn, the first third down, this is what we get. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:12:22 That's the funny thing. When you talk about X in the nose on, the way it's written on paper and coaches want to look a certain way, but they don't take into account. When you have a defense out there, you have a person pushing and tugging you. Certain things have to adjust. So, Kelsey, if anything, if you got a man playing you man to man, go an extra yard. Maybe go two, and that doesn't happen. Hey, press me, and I'm supposed to be the low guy.
Starting point is 00:12:45 I run in the line of scrimmage. I'd be behind the line of scrimmage. Hey, I, the line of to pick your ass off. Oh, I'm not going to collide with my own guy. I run it. They were like, well, damn, you should have just took the ball out of John's hand. I'm like, well, hey, he was fighting, pushing, tugging,
Starting point is 00:13:05 and I'm not going to let him throw the timing of the route off by pressing me and causing me to either get to gain depth. No, I already know I'm the low guy. And so it might be a situation. Look, I'm the low guy. Yeah. And I got a pick for the high guy. Yes, so.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Okay, it is what it is. But the timing must be the timing, Ocho. But I'm not going to run into my own guy. That's what I'm not going to do. I'm not running into my own guy. Now, I might run into the other guy and they call me for an illegal pig, but I'm not picking my own damn guy. And hold on, not only did you pick him, he got hurt.
Starting point is 00:13:41 And as soon as soon as he got hurt, obviously, when you're running that cross like that unk and you're looking back at the quarterback, your body's relaxed. Yes. The body's relaxed. So anything that hits, especially that shoulder, the first thing I said, let's either grade two or grade three AC spring right away.
Starting point is 00:13:56 When you didn't come back in the game, because one, oh, you're good. Grade one, you're coming back in the game. But he missed the whole game after that. I say it got to be grade to a grade. Ocho, how much shoulder strength do you think he got? He'll buck 60. So think about that, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:14:10 He weighs 160 pounds. Yes, sir. He ain't got no. he ain't got no shoulder and it doesn't take a whole lot to mess a shoulder up anyway especially when you don't have the muscle development right in that area yeah especially when you're not looking up and your body body relaxed and just something hit you like that you ain't because you don't get chance to tense up yes bingo bingo so a lot a lot of times if we know oh till we're going across the middle we're going to catch a pass yeah i get a chance to brace but when i'm catching the past
Starting point is 00:14:39 and I'm relaxed. Yeah. And that guy, it hurts that much more. Hell, yeah, it hurts. People need to understand. When they see certain hits like that, when you know it's coming,
Starting point is 00:14:48 you're able to brace, it doesn't hurt. No matter what it. Like, it's the ones you don't see coming. Yes. Ready for it. That gets you the worst. Yeah, I just, look,
Starting point is 00:14:58 they got up to a bad star. Hollywood Brown had an opportunity to get a first down on the second, and he dropped it. Yeah. I don't, also. Oh, you talk about on the top of the game. The start.
Starting point is 00:15:09 route. Well, the deeper. Yes, yes, yes. He took his eyes on the ball. He's trying to get about it there before he. That's the third. Oh, Joe. Hey, this is Matt Jones. I'm Drew Franklin. And this is NFL cover zero. We think NFL coverage should be informative and entertaining. And twice a week, that is exactly what you're going to get. We're just here to try to give you an NFL perspective a little bit different. Did you see the Colts Pretzel? That was my other big takeaway from that game. What was that? It looks like something that. should not be sold. Oh, my. So that was my other big cults take away. They sold that?
Starting point is 00:15:43 Yes. I might want to go back to the drawing board on that. Yeah. I thought the shape we had with pretzels was working pretty well. Smart for generations. We're just here trying to enjoy it. We hope you all will join us throughout the year. And let's go. I hope I'm as youthful as Pete Carroll is at his age. He's a young 73. He is a young 73. He is spry. I would say. I wouldn't fight him. I would. And, you know, we're always going to keep you up to speed on all the news and happenings around the women's sports world as well. So make sure you listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:19:27 I'm Simone Boys, host of the Brightside podcast, and on this week's episode, I'm talking to Olympian, World Cup Champion, and podcast host, Ashlyn Harris. My worth is not wrapped up in how many things I've won, because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was over, I got the blues, and I was like, this is it. For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey, it's the people, it's the failures, it's the heartache.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Listen to The Bright Side on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I really prided myself understanding how the game was going. Okay, the first drive, Ocho, we got off the field in three plays. Yes, sir. The last thing I want to do is do doing three and out. So I might just catch the ball and just drop because the most important thing is to stay on the field so we can get timing as an offense. Guys don't understand.
Starting point is 00:20:24 They still try, oh, let me bail up out of here. Well, now you just went two, three and outs. And now, guess what? You're going to be further out of rhythm because it's going to be longer before. you get back on the field. Guys need to understand. I saw Thornton. He's running, he's going to, look,
Starting point is 00:20:39 understand the angle in which the guy's coming down. If he's coming down on an, he ain't chasing you like this. He's coming down on an angle like that. So if you try to cut back, he hits you, even though you're right there to sticks, your momentum, you got no momentum to go forward, you're gonna go back. I'm like, guys, y'all, y'all don't think.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Y'all guys don't really think no more. I ain't no way you're thinking. Like, you gotta understand the angle in which he's coming. If I get it, Ocho, he's coming like this, I stop, cut back, go behind you. But when he's coming down, you stop. You got no momentum. His momentum is going to hit you and push you backwards.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Every time. If anything, especially in that situation, Uncle, you've got to know, as a receiver or a tight end, anybody catching the ball in that situation, it's third down. Yes. It's third down. You just catch that and turns straight up field.
Starting point is 00:21:28 I'm talking about right away. Yes. Play another down instead of allowing to be four down, And it being a 50-50 chance and whether y'all get it or not to keep that drive going. I think the thing is sometimes, Ocho, is that guys, they don't really think about that. Every play is not meant to be a big play.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Every play is not meant to be a touchdown. You have to understand momentum. You have to understand where you are in the game, time of the game, what's it been like? Because there are a lot of time that may be, because sometimes you've got to do stuff suddenly to get up out of there. suddenly remains taking your eyes off to taking your eyes off the ball and try to locate the guy because a lot of times I mean I've seen myself I'm doing this
Starting point is 00:22:11 Ocho I'm hey the ball should be right there and I've got I'm seeing where everybody's coming because I want to do something yeah well you can't do anything without the ball no not at all but not it was things like that but Ocho they're going to have to run they're going to have Kansas City is going to have to do more of a concerted effort to run the football I got a quick I'm glad you just said that. When you think about the Kansas City Chiefs, right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Pacheco has been in the past. One of the Chiefs actually ever had a running game, though? When have you actually watched the Chief play and been like, you know what? We got to worry about the running game. You remember when they had Kareem Hunt? That's different. Oh, before he left, the first time. Yes.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Yes. But you know who else they had? But the Chief just to have a night. Well, they hadn't had so much of a running game with Andy. Because I don't think, I don't think Jamal Charles was there with Andy. I think, I think Jamal Charles was there. I don't remember, but they got to run to football. They got to, they put a lot of pressure.
Starting point is 00:23:12 And the thing was tonight defensively, they couldn't get pressure on Herbert unless they blitz. Tranquil got him twice. Koloftus got him early in the game when he tried to climb up in the pocket. And Koloftus fell back inside and got him. but they couldn't get pressure generating four. So now, and it seems like when they bring pressure, it's like, guys, Nick, is it Hicks? What number, 27?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Is it Hicks? Hold on. Because I know he made a bunch of, yeah, Hicks. Bro, bro, you got to be better. Yeah. You got to be better. You got to be better. The guy is streaming at you.
Starting point is 00:23:59 you got no you got no no help to the seven and you turn like he's going to run a post it doesn't crosses your face hey hey unk it's scary on that island like that you know that it's scary on that island you know the first most of the time when you're in a situation like that you're going for the first move you're going for the first move because you got to understand the speed of the game us watching is different out to actually plan it and you ain't got no health so whatever whatever you see first you get in the body down you're getting the body there right away the thing is if he ran if he did something different right on tape okay so what is he showing us on tape because that's all i can base it on oh cho right that's all i can base it on
Starting point is 00:24:49 they give us something different i'm going to come to the sideline coach this is what they did i know what we practiced i know what we went over i know what they show this is what they show this is what they us on take this is what we said we were going to do against them on tape this is what they're doing right okay fine so that's what we're going to happen that's what we don't know oh joe we don't know but uh uh uh they run the inside because all it's so they run the high they run the high low so basically you got mcconkey he studied he gets to the flat right now now uh kenan allen he goes to the high seven yeah one or two things going to have to happen if you're going to have to pass that off by McDuffie right retreating because he's up on Lab McConkey yeah because that's all
Starting point is 00:25:33 I'm trying to do I'm just trying to hold I'm just trying to hold outside guy because you got me and you're playing inside leverage so you got you got you cannot stop the seven route you cannot stop the flag you can't because you're playing inside leverage so you've already given me the outside the only way you can stop it the only way you stop that right oh yeah yeah yeah yeah but then and then And then I'm going to throw the ball. So you got it really time. You got to say, you know what? I believe he's going to throw this seven ball.
Starting point is 00:26:03 And I just fall right now. But if he throws it, if he throws it to the flat, that's going to be a first down. Or, or if anything, I'm just saying, obviously, I don't play DV and obviously you have to stay within the scheme of the way that does things. What I would do, I would communicate. I would communicate before. When I see that, when I see that tendency, when I see that formation. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:25 nobody and i know what's coming we got that posting we got that flat coming right i'm gonna tell the safety man listen i'm from the jump lab right now the seven coming behind me go ahead and cheat it go ahead go ahead go ahead you know what i'm passing off ocho say this is how we gonna do it yeah higgs you take the flat i'm on safe now i got a safety in the hole because if he runs the post the safety is there yeah the only thing that i'm weak against is the back side pot the back pile on yeah so now is going to have to retreat right away now hicks got to go to the flat right now he's got to go he's got to take the flat right now right now right now that's the only way you can stop that route because you got two one's running like a little stick what they call a uh a stick route
Starting point is 00:27:11 and the other is running a seven route or sale route you can't stop it yeah because if you're playing man he's going to like and macaque is going to occupy mcduffey right away hicks is playing inside leverage. So anything that I run to the outside, I'm free and clear. You can't stop it. The funny thing about it is you can't stop it. But I'm thinking and knowing this coming as a safety. I don't even know if he has a freedom to do this because when they turn that film on, they're going to want you inside leverage. Yes. At what, what, maybe nine to 10? Who did the safety? Yeah. Not maybe what safe. It looked like it was man coverage. So they probably just had single high safety. So he's in the hole.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Oh down. Yeah. No, no, no. He's in the hole. He's looking for, you know, okay, maybe, maybe if it's a cross the route, he's going to jump it. But he's in the hole. There's really nothing he can do. Right. So now, because Hicks is playing on, he's playing inside leverage, because you know why, Ocho, I got to worry about the shallow cross. Right. If you run the, if I jump outside, he runs the shallow cross. I'm dead. I mean, it's for shape. Yes. Yeah, I'm dead. So now I'm inside leverage. Now I'm worried. I ain't worried about him beat me across my face but what I've done is that I've given them a free release to the back pile line yeah and and listen that's unfortunate that's unfortunate because obviously what
Starting point is 00:28:35 you're doing is you're giving them a one way go you're trying to say the inside but now you're vulnerable to the outside correct and if he if he stick you to the inside you're really done because you're going to go for the first move correct yep so you know give them credit but I thought the charges played really well yeah they're going to be they're going to be tough uh uh herbert through the ball extremely well tonight um we we look he has physical he has physical tools a big kid six five uh two third two 40 mobile he's mobile you see the athleticism i mean he's shown the athleticism we watched him in in the uh was that the rose bowl i think his final year and he he did what he did i didn't know he had that kind
Starting point is 00:29:18 of athleticism and he doesn't show it a whole lot but he got better he's he's above He's an above average athlete. So which tells me he can get out of harm's weight if he needs to. We know the arm that, we know the arm talent. Yeah. We can't deny that. You can say he ain't won nothing, but we can't deny the armed talent. And the thing is also there are two things that play here.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Two things can be true. You can be a generational talent. Right. And not a generational player. You could be a generational player without generational talent. See, I think sometimes you've got to have both. no you don't no you don't no you don't yeah i like and and brady and and manning might not be generational talent but you can't argue they're generational players right right so the things that
Starting point is 00:30:09 we can see what we measure ocho man look at his arm strength man look how big ears man look how fast he is ocho look how athletic he is okay those are things that we can see but we've seen guys that had tremendous God-gifted ability. Yes, sir. Not turn out to be generational players. Right. Or not be even good players or great players. So two things can be true.
Starting point is 00:30:32 You can be a generational talent and not a generational player. You can be a generational player without generational talent. Right. And, but you look at build a quarterback. You're going to look at, God. Lee do six four six five two thirty five two forty yeah whoa he could throw bro he thought out he can throw to dig you throw the comeback he can throw the over he could go to seven he could throw the bang oh he could throw the shake he can throw the n uh hold on he can get out
Starting point is 00:31:13 the harm's way he can throw the ball in the move yeah left right oh my goodness what is there not to like about it right so listen what we saw from her but the night don't because what we've seen since he's gotten in the league yes problem with him he puts up big numbers touchdowns jarge he does that the problem is the turnovers in decision making when it matters most and that's that's that's when we get to playoffs but that's he needs to do this in a playoff game and that's that's that's a hard part because the playoff that's nothing like a week one it's nothing like a week one that's That's the difference. It is different.
Starting point is 00:31:51 When there is finality. Because guess what? Whoever lost this game, guess what, Ocho, they got 16 more. Whoever won this game, they got 16 more. But come playoff time, it ain't the best of five. It's not the best of seven.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Every game in the NFL is a game seven. So if you think game seven or the NBA finals or the NBA playoffs or the MLB playoffs or hockey playoffs, you think that's something, that's what an NFL player go through every playoff game. It is a game.
Starting point is 00:32:19 game seven yeah there is no tomorrow yeah it's only and it's only you know it's funny it's only three game sevens too it's only three game seven to the big dance and that you got a week one by yeah um it's uh it's uh it was like I said Ocho I I kind of wanted Kansas City to score to see how they were going to play it maybe they do the same thing Ocho right maybe they kick the ball deep they got their time out they got the two minute warning they try to hold them. Maybe the only we won't ever know
Starting point is 00:32:52 because, you know, they didn't get an opportunity. Defense didn't get off the field. But I think we the charges deserve credit. I thought Mahomes, once he got it going, I mean, he had to be, I mean, come on, Ocho, the man's parallel to the guy and he throws it over his head
Starting point is 00:33:09 and Ju-Ju catches it. I mean, when you go back and look at it, Ocho, think about it. Juju. The Steelers moved on. Yeah. The Patriot has moved on. Tyquine Thornton ran 4-2 at the combine.
Starting point is 00:33:25 The Patriot says, nah. Kareem Hunt is a comeback, came back. Hollywood Brown. The Ravens traded him. The Cardinals said, now, we good. I mean, think about it. It's hard, Ocho, to keep winning with castoffs. And look, and they're okay players.
Starting point is 00:33:47 but let's be it is what it is Ocho somebody said you know what we're good we're better without you listen you have to you also you also have to understand there's always somebody else coming behind you that wants your job there are also other people that come behind you that take your job where they fit the system better
Starting point is 00:34:05 they just fit the system better so for for Mahomes Mahomes is a tier one quarterback he's one with the people around him don't matter I view Patrick Mahomes the same way I view Tom Brady when he was with a new the Patriots. The pieces to the puzzle with the Patriots offensively, they change differently every year. Every year there was somebody else. Plug in and play. Plug in and play, but nothing
Starting point is 00:34:29 change. They remain consistent offensively. Why? Because that centerpiece, that one piece that that matter. That was 12. So I really view the Kansas City Chiefs that way. Tyree Keel is gone. Since Tyree Keel, it's been a multitude of different players, different receivers, and they haven't missed the beat. They have to beat. And even though they didn't play up the par tonight in week one, Andy Reed going to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:34:54 I'm more concerned with the defense. You think so? I am. Spack going to have boys on point. Because, Ocho, they couldn't get pressure. Without bringing pressure, they couldn't get pressure. And now, now if I bring pressure, what must I do? I must sacrifice my back end because that's what's single high.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Somewhere, somewhere on the back end. I got, I got to sacrifice something, Ocho. Right. If I make X amount of dollars. Something's not going to get paid this month. Yeah, I'm just saying, what's not going to get paid? Hey, the cell phone bill? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Cable bill, light bill, gas bill, but something, because I only have X amount of dollars. I only have so much money to stretch. I can only stretch it so far. Right. So as my grandma said, I've seen you a little piece of something, son. Hey, that's all I got. I like CJ more on the inside, the shade, as I do it out.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Instead of the nine technique, but he's- Because he doesn't have it, he doesn't have an advantage out there. His quickness, he, he's, he's extremely quick for a guard, but he's not quick for an end. Mm-hmm. So he doesn't gain, he doesn't gain an advantage. Yeah, but now you, there are some guys that he might be able to be, but when he's in that, when he's in that shade, when he's in that under he's that three tank that's why I like CJ at
Starting point is 00:36:20 I think you know what I like that he does do it because you can never know where he's going to be you have to account for him you have to account for him and it's confusing to the officer line because you always have when you come to the line before the snap you always got to see
Starting point is 00:36:35 where is 95 at let's identify 95 I think that's what you move him so much because he's able to do so much more and he doesn't have to deal with that double team all the damn time. Well, I like it more than a five or seven as opposed to a nine. Now, they want him to get him wide because they want to get him on the edges.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Right. And they don't want to chip. But he doesn't get, if he's playing against like Alt did a great job of neutralizing but you've got to realize those guys out there are really athletic. Yeah, very. The advantage that you have is that when you don't have the athleticism, they normally bump you down inside to the guard. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Those tackles are really athletic. Those are guys that were tight ends that played a lot of other positions. right right when when they were smaller they weren't always that size and they probably played maybe they were a tight end or maybe they were you know a basketball player at one point in that just grew out of that yeah but i think kansas city's office is going to be fine i'm sure and you will find a way to to get up out of this but that the afc west has gotten better Denver is better the charges are better we'll see what the rate we'll see what the rate is going to be oh whoa whoa slow down slow down slow down you don't know if the broncos have gotten better because they haven't played week one yet the broncos have gotten better it's hard it's hard for me to see a scenario right based on uh uh the court the court the uh sean payton yes Sean pagan quarterbacks don't normally regress
Starting point is 00:38:02 right they don't now it could happen have a side but he's not a guy that's going to let you regress because he's going to ride the Sean Peyton is old school guy he learned on the park sales yeah and they go they ride you I have a question yes Who do the Denver Broncos play week one? The Titans? Yeah, they play the Titans in Mile High. Hey, boy, I don't know. Calvin Ridley and Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Calvin Ridley and Cam Ward. It's hard to throw the ball when you're on your back. The Broncos led the league in sacks last year. Wait, what year was that? Last year? Yes, it's 2025, though, huh? But see, but you told me, you say, New England, you told me, Philly had nothing to worry about.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Same personnel. That what you told me. Well, actually, I said defensively they had some to worry about because they let Slago. They let Slago, and they let, I forgot the young bull that played divination. What about the guy that was calling the plays? Oh, that, that's right. Hey, hey, I guarantee you, I don't know who the Eagles play next. Oh, they play the cheese.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Yes, next Sunday. I guarantee the first 15, you know the first 15 plays are scripted. Yeah. I guarantee you three of those plays are specifically for A.J. Brown. I guarantee you the first play going right to him because that's what I'm looking at. That's ridiculous. Even though they won the game, even though they won the game, you can't do your star player like that. You can't. You just can't.
Starting point is 00:39:39 I'm looking at Justin Herbert and they're like, okay, we can throw the ball. Yeah, well, I mean, AJ Brown is better than Quentin Johnson. Let me tell you why they can't throw the ball as well. Did you see your Marianne Hampton? Yeah. You see, okay, rookie. I mean, look, look, he not, look, they ran the ball 25 times for 90 yards. Yeah, that's nothing.
Starting point is 00:40:03 That ain't, that, I, look, that's, that's the four yards of carry. Yeah, but that's a good balance, though, huh? It's a good balance. But here's the thing, Ocho, if you can't pressure without if you couldn't get pressure with the charges offensive line what makes you think you'll get pressure with the Eagles offensive line they got the two number one rated tackled and football yeah you're right now you bring pressure you open up your back in I think the back in is weak I don't think I don't think the Kansas City Chiefs secondary is like
Starting point is 00:40:36 oh my God we can't do hey hold on but the Kansas City secondary normally played two shell in cover two or it's 55 one or the other right so everything has everything most of the time is success it's going to have to come from the run game and force them to drop the safety down which they they which they had to do when they played the eagles in the super bowl they make sure saquan barkley is not beating us right they did something they don't normally do outside of that two shell bump and run on outside throw off the time it and whoever's in the slot or number three or tight in you got the win yeah the win because that's for the going on what is so it's going to be it's going to be interesting to see you know that's a big
Starting point is 00:41:18 game next week obviously uh uh chief i mean what was the last time the chief started owing two i don't think they've started owing two in the mohams era no probably not absolutely not that that's going to be a good game no that's going to be a very very good game rematch of the Super Bowl, that's going to be a nice one. They hadn't lost two, they hadn't started the season O and two since 2014. Ocho, the Kansas City Chiefs entered tonight with an incredible 17-game win streak in one-score games, regular season and postseason. That streak dating back to Christmas Day
Starting point is 00:41:58 2023 against the Raiders is not over. But when you have that guy, you have a chance. Yeah. That's how you feel when you have a, a legendary, great quarterback. When you had a Brady, you have a Mahomes, you have a Peyton Manning, you have a, a Breeze or Montana or John Elway, you always feel if we can keep it close, they'll make a play in the end that'll win the game for us. We trust them. We just need to keep it close. We need to get it close or keep it close, whatever the case may be, and then
Starting point is 00:42:30 they'll make a play for us. Give them credit, and that's what happens when you have a, because a lot of things need to go right for your defense need to get the ball back for you. so three and out take the ball away and then my homes and that offense need to do what they've done 17 times before tonight which is final way to get in field goal range or to win the game with a touchdown so I just that's a long way to return home after a yeah it is it is either way for us for the fans for the football fans for me I'm not sure if you enjoyed it but I enjoy it it. I enjoyed the game. Now, the first half was a little sloppy, a little flash
Starting point is 00:43:12 just a little play here, a little play there, but I enjoyed that second half. I really, really, really, really like Ladd-McConkie. Excuse me, Laderius McConkey. I really like it. A lot. And considering Justin Herbert in last year's playoff game, he had four intercessions,
Starting point is 00:43:28 he couldn't pick the better way to start the season. A 300 and 3 TD game. Well, there's no question this is our talent. he has above average of athleticism. The only thing is, okay, come playoff time, bro, we need something like this. Right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:47 I'm not saying you got to give us three, three and three, 300 yards past and three touchdown, but you can't give us four I&Ts either. There ain't a whole lot of defenses that could overcome that kind of poor performance from their quarterback. Go ahead, don't show you want to say something? I said, one thing they're going to do it. They're going to drop back and throw that ball. they're going to drop back and throw that ball over there in L.A.

I'm Simone Boys, host of the Brightside podcast, and on this week's episode, I'm talking to Olympian, World Cup Champion, and podcast host Ashlyn Harris. My worth is not wrapped up. and how many things I've won because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was over, I got the blues and I was like, this is it.
Starting point is 00:48:45 For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey. It's the people. It's the failures. It's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Yeah, they should.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Oh, Joe, Michael Parsons took a veil dig at his former cowboy teammates while praising the Packers. I tell you, I've never been in a locker room with guys like this. I came in Tuesday for treatment and I saw almost every guy in the locker room. This is the first time I've ever seen this. That shows just how much these guys want to be here. They want to be around each other and hang out. I think that's important. And when you're around guys like that, it makes it exciting to come to work.
Starting point is 00:49:34 I mean, is he really taking a shot of his other teammates or the fact that everyone's in the training room or maybe just nobody was hurt while they were in Dallas? He said he came in for treatment and guys were in the locker room. He didn't say nobody came in for treatment.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Oh, okay, okay, okay. He said he was getting treatment. He said guys were in the locker room. Locker room. Okay, okay, okay. I like it. I like it. But, I mean, the way he made it sound,
Starting point is 00:49:57 he'd make it sound like when he come to Dallas to the Cowboys locker room to come get treatment, there ain't anybody in the locker room. Duh, is that what you took it? Because that's what he meant. Yeah. He said guys like coming to work. Guys like being around each other.
Starting point is 00:50:10 That's how he meant it, though, Joe. Right. You say you took it like when he got treatment of Dallas with nobody in the locker room. That's exactly how we meant it. That's messed up. That's messed up. I need my going to take the high road. I need my going to take the high road and don't say nothing.
Starting point is 00:50:24 He said you ain't say that to Jay when Jerry would salt me up. Exactly. I don't know stupid Jerry's level. Don't stupid Jerry level. Hey, you know what I want to do? I'm 1,000 with you. You know, I want, I want, I want, I want him to wait. Don't do no talking, and do all the talking week four.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Do all the talking week four with your play. Yeah, he better than me. You know what I would have did? What? I would have had a shirt. I would have had a shirt underneath my jersey, right? And every time I sack, every time I sack that, I'm lift it up
Starting point is 00:51:02 that thing will say how you like that Jerry every time straight to camera I think I agree with you Ocho I left Denver I had nothing bad to say I spent
Starting point is 00:51:18 10 years there it was great move on yeah yeah spend two years in Baltimore got nothing to say go back it's just yeah I don't like that I don't like that when you're in a place that you played for that you like
Starting point is 00:51:33 that paid you that gave you an opportunity I don't I don't like when you leave a certain place and all of a sudden now you have something bad to say about said place just like you're dealing with somebody you're dating somebody for a while and you have great memories obviously sometimes you have bad memories but why not remember the good why not I'm a firm believe in that just just because you two may not be together anymore a la cowboys and micro parsons it's no need to remember the bad just remember the good and then
Starting point is 00:52:07 yes and then leave and gone with grace it's easy what so for some reason um that's just the way the the the mind is wired yeah yeah ohcho you sign a thousand autographs the one you don't sign oh yeah ohcho's an asshole Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's messed up. So where is this quote at? I mean, do you say anything else?
Starting point is 00:52:40 Hey, I think, I think I might go to that game. What game? That, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, the Cowboys, Packers. It depends a way. If it's in Dallas, that's a two-hour flight from Miami. If it's all the way in Green Bay or Wisconsin, that's a, that's a, that's a, that's a, that's a, that's little too far. I think that's a little too far. But if it's in Dallas, I'm going to go. Yeah, it's going to be in Dallas. But my thing is, Michael, if you wanted camaraderie,
Starting point is 00:53:07 if you wanted to build a better team, you're going to leaders. Invite the guys over to your house. Hey. I'm just saying, I'm just saying guys that if you're trying to build that, you can build it. Hey, guys, you know, my mom's going to cook. Hey, we got a barbecue. I'm going to have I'm going to have somebody, I'm going to have somebody to put some steaks, put something on the grill. Hey, man, let's come over. Hey, let's go bowling. Let's go. That's what we did. We went both. I mean, a Tuesday, oh, our day off, uh, uh, uh, uh, we might go bowling or we might go to the movies or we go over to somebody's house and gamble. Yeah, that's what we did. We, we really truly enjoyed being around each other. And it's so funny that you just mentioned that and saying
Starting point is 00:53:48 that is something you should have done if you wanted to have a team bonding moment, especially by position or by defense. Yes. Yesterday, I sat with all the entire defensive line for the Bengals. In fact, Trey Henderson, Shamar Stewart, B.J. Hill. I don't know all the rest of the boy's name. Man, it was about maybe 12, 13, 13, 14 of them. They need that right here by the stadium at a place called E&O.
Starting point is 00:54:13 And I sat with them boys about, you know, five, ten minutes. Hey, and it's so funny, Unk, I've been out the game for so long. You know how you used to seeing people six, six, six. six, five, six, seven, two. I'm looking at these dude like, man, what the hell? But y'all are big as hell. And I'm, like, did I play this? I played this game?
Starting point is 00:54:33 Exactly. And I'm looking like, have I been going that long where I'm looking at it? Like, well, is everybody this size? I've been going too long, man. I've been going too long. And they had a, they had a nerve to ask me to pay for the bill. They had it. Huh?
Starting point is 00:54:51 Samar Stewart just got paid. Trey Henderson, they just gave you a $14 million raise last week. What you talked? Man, stop playing. For us, I just believe in my case, if you want to build that, if you want to foster that type of environment, as a leader, you can do it.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Hey, guys, let's come over. Let's come over. Ray used to have the defense come over, and they go over plays. guys we went to it was office defense amen hey let's go get something to eat we come out we go out the workout let's just say it's o'tia's after workout it'd be about 15 of us we go out to eat we go out to eat go get something to eat hey man what you're doing man hey let's go bowling right hey we go bowling hey we go bowling hey man what y'all do it man hey let's go to the movie man it'd be
Starting point is 00:55:41 about it'd be about 15 20 in the movie though cho and guess what 20 minutes into the movie everybody sleep everybody sleep hey somebody wake up hey man man you got the more popcorn and milk
Starting point is 00:55:56 that's you know when you think about it too especially today's generation today's generation today's era of players getting them to do stuff getting them to do stuff as one
Starting point is 00:56:05 might be difficult especially Dallas when it's too goddamn much to do it's too much to do yeah you're right I mean, I think the thing is now there was really no internet. Guys still play video games.
Starting point is 00:56:22 And guys took their, took their PS2s of PlayStation and stuff on the road. And they played video games. But I mean, I'm telling we were close. In Denver, we were extremely close. I'm saying we might be done with practice at three. And by the time we got done with meetings, it was four. We might not lead the building until six, seven o'clock. I mean, we got guys be like, man, y'all don't get me the boys.
Starting point is 00:56:46 See, Sharp ain't got nobody to go home to, but I got his wife and kids. And they're going to be, hey, baby, I'm on my way. We had meeting. No, he didn't. He's playing cards. Hey, Leather, he rolled it out. That was that water was white. Hey, Leitha, he rolling dice.
Starting point is 00:57:03 He ain't have no extra meetings. Hey, that's funny, man. But, Ocho, we were really, and that's my thing. Micah, if you wanted that type of environment as a leader, you can do it. as the best player they're going to follow you now here's the thing now they see they see what you do now you can't be you can't be so okay we're going to do this and but as a as the as as one of the best players if that's the type of environment that you want to foster right you build it you got a lay a foundation you do that so that's something they learn I mean it's like
Starting point is 00:57:41 oh Joe I don't like when you go to go to high school you go to a new high school you go to high school from junior high, you follow everybody to see where the cafeteria is. Yeah. So this is something that's been passed down in Green Bay. This is kind of what they do. So like I said, hopefully everything works over thing, everything works itself out with Michael. Michael has found his way. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Oh, Joe, it's tough. Because, you know, basically they said, And they said, well, we got better. We got better without Micah. You never want to think if somebody's gotten better without you. Micah also has some shade for the lions. I never liked Detroit. I've never liked them.
Starting point is 00:58:25 Even when I was in Dallas, he also said trick plays as a scare tactic. Trick plays, trick plays are for people who can't beat you straight up. You know I'm trying to win the game. I'm trying to win. I don't care how I beat you. It's like a guy running around the ring and trying to jab. Meet me in the middle.
Starting point is 00:58:41 No, no, no, no, no, no. My job is to win while taking this little pushment as possible. Yeah. That's what guys, that's what guys who trick plays do. They can't beat your head up. They want you to come out, out physical you. They want to, they don't want to be dominant. It's a scary tactic, I guess, but I can beat you any which way.
Starting point is 00:59:03 Well, you'll get your opportunity. You'll get your opportunity if you play, if you play on Sunday. Oh, you, man, you know he playing. You know he's playing Sunday. He's absolutely playing Sunday. And the funny thing about it, you're talking about Detroit, and their trick plays
Starting point is 00:59:16 and what Ben Johnson used to do with the creativity. Well, you don't remember the Chiefs? You don't remember the Chiefs with all those trick plays they had? The Ring Around the Rosie, my favorite was when the whole huddle was going in the circle.
Starting point is 00:59:29 Oh, man, I was like, man. I like Detroit's trick plays. They'd be throwing back shoulder phase to tackles. They'd be running a screen pass to Pineda Seul. I mean, hey, I love, last year, Detroit beat the Cowboys. it's 47.9.
Starting point is 00:59:44 Damn. You don't get no 47 points on trick plays. That's a good old-fashioned ass whipping there. Absolutely. Now, I don't think Micah, I don't think Micah played. He didn't play?
Starting point is 00:59:56 Okay. But look, look, Micah, that's like saying, well, if that's the case, y'all shouldn't blitz. Because the blitz is a trick. Yeah. That means you can't get to the quarterback
Starting point is 01:00:08 with your four. So you got to bring an extra one or two. That's a good one. you got or you got to run a or you got to run a text yeah tackle end twist you got to you know you i'm saying something like you so you got to do that i mean so the offense does something the defense also get an opportunity to do it so you can't say well they blitz because they can't take it straight up they four can't um bro i'm trying to win the game i'm not really listen to you, Michael. I'm
Starting point is 01:00:38 really not. I'm really not. But like I said, the only thing I say, Micah, if you wanted that type of environment in Dallas, you can create it. Yeah. Because you listen at the documentary. Listen to how Micah, Mike, Emmett, Haley, look how they talk. Yeah. Not great. I mean, some of the stuff, you know,
Starting point is 01:01:01 hey, the stuff that Mike had go, some of the stuff, the White House and the hotel. okay but they talked about how close they were as a team team yeah and they were and I'm telling you how close we were as a team in Denver now we had our core guys uh that that did stuff that you know we would go to Ray's house or we would go out we'd go out on a night like a Monday night or something like that knowing that we had Tuesday off or you know Thursday night or something like that watch the game uh Ray's mama would Buffett would cook yeah but we were close But we have, it was our group, me, Shub, Corey, Woody, and sometimes Jamal.
Starting point is 01:01:42 Sometimes we let Jamal tag along, even though he was a rookie. We let him tag along. But for the most part. What's Corey, Fuller? Corr Harris. Oh, Corey, okay, okay, okay, okay. No, Fuller wasn't there when I was there. Oh, no, okay.
Starting point is 01:01:55 No, no, no, Corr Harris. And so, you know, but we, you know, we did things together. You know, we went out together, you know, we, you know, offseason, we go to Vegas, or we go to the NBA All-Star weekend. We did things together. But in Denver, it was really like 15. We go to Vegas, it'd be by 8, 12 of us by week. So we had the home field advantage.
Starting point is 01:02:19 We go into Vegas. Right. Yeah. Oh, hey, man, what y'all doing? Man, I don't know, man. I'm thinking about going home. Man, let's go to Vegas. Like, damn.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Man, I really need to get home, man. I ain't been, man, come on. All right. We go into Vegas. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that.
Starting point is 01:02:39 I'm like, look, bro, I, all I got in Vegas, I got like two days. I got Friday night, Saturday night. I want to get there,
Starting point is 01:02:48 you know, get me a nap in. We go gamble. We go out. Come in. I get me a workout in Saturday morning. Take me another nap. Gamble.
Starting point is 01:02:56 We go out. I'm coming back to get my bags. I'm going to the airport. I'm going home. Oh, yeah. Hey, as it. Matter of fact,
Starting point is 01:03:03 you just, you just trigger something in my head. I got the call today about Vegas. I appreciate that. Yeah. Hey, you know how much I love that sport. I appreciate that. I don't know if I can say anything yet, so I wait until we get there.
Starting point is 01:03:16 But thank you. We'll make that announcement next week. Hey, thank you. Yeah. But we do it. Wait, we're working over here. Hey. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:03:26 Hey, matter of fact, that name you just said about three times. You fix that? y'all you fixed that probably ain't nothing to be ain't nothing need to be fixed don't you oh you ain't even no we good
Starting point is 01:03:39 damn be good don't you okay oh yeah oh we good we good yeah we're always gonna be good okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay appreciate that appreciate that Jared Jones was asked
Starting point is 01:03:52 if the Cowboys lost to the Eagles last night if his team Miss Michael Jared well anytime you have a great player you don't have him out there on the field but I was specifically watching some guys who could pick up the slack number 54, Sam Williams, had some really significant impact. Ocho, do you believe Jerry will ultimately regret trading Michael Parsons?
Starting point is 01:04:13 Yeah, I believe so. I believe so because you talk about some of the players that could make an impact, but you don't have an impact player similar to that of Michael Parsons. You don't have that nowhere. I know you brought Kenny Clark in. Kenny Clark plays over the nose, over the tackle, and that's pretty much it. He's more of a run-stuffer. He's more of a run stuffer, yes.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Now, I'm not sure what the defensive ends are going to be able to do that they have now. But what we saw with Jalen Hearst being able to escape the pocket because people weren't disciplining and staying within their lanes, Michael Parsons is running some of those down. He's running some of those down. Oh, yeah, for sure. So, I mean, it's still too early to say, but I really do think letting a talent like Michael Parsons go, understanding how disruptive he is as a play. player based on down the distance, especially when it's time to pin those ears back and you
Starting point is 01:05:06 can just go and play free. Yeah, you can't, you can't replace that. You can't replace that. Well, the question is, Jerry, do you regret waving demarkas where? Because all he did was go becoming an all pro, go to a pro bowl player and help lead a Denver defense that end up winning a Super Bowl. that happened yeah you let larry allen go larry allen was still an all pro we go to san francisco and go to probo he was still that good i think sometimes oh cho you know when you've made a mistake you hate making a mistake right but you hate admitting it it was especially publicly you might like damn i shouldn't
Starting point is 01:05:53 have did that but it's okay you won't say that that's not that's not in his DNA to say that I actually made a mistake about letting the player go? Absolutely not. No. I don't believe he'll say that either. But look, I don't think the defense played bad, but the question is can they generate pressure without bringing pressure?
Starting point is 01:06:16 Yeah. Because you're sacrificing your back end. There aren't a whole lot of back ends that can hold up. Mm-hmm. So you're going to have to find a way to generate pressure when the Cowboys were at their best. Michael was pinning their ears back and Diggs was getting
Starting point is 01:06:30 picked sixes and Daron Blan was getting picked sixes. Listen, you can sit on stuff. You can take gambles. Correct. Because you know the ball's got to come out. It got to come out. It got to come out.
Starting point is 01:06:43 It's all about when you play the guessing game as a defense of the back, you can cheat it because you know the ball got to come out. Ah, come on. Why is this taking so long? This thing is ancient. Still using yesterday's tech?
