Starting point is 00:05:40 He ducked, you know? I'm just saying, I'm not, I'm not saying he ducking me, but I'm just saying by the look what he has going on. He ain't trying to find you. You ain't saying he dodging. to you, but he ain't really looking for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Something ain't right. Yeah, something ain't right. Yeah, something ain't right. Yeah. Okay, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:05:57 college football is officially back. We had some games last week, but now the real game started to come. And tonight's game, Georgia Tech go on the road and in Folsom Field at CU, they win. 2720. Hayes King, 13 of 20, 143, he threw it an interception. But it was his legs that was the difference. 19 rushes, a buck 56, three rushing touchdown, the last one, 45 yards to put them ahead with a minute and seven seconds left in the ball game. And they go on the road and they defeat the Buffalo's 2720. The first game, what I should do with Sanders and the receiver. Travis Hunter.
Starting point is 00:06:36 So Colorado is on the new era now. Kaylin Salt, I think that's his name. 17 to 28, 159, one touchdown. They ran the ball really well, 31 for a buck 46, but it was Georgia Tech, 47 rushes. 327 yards. Ocho, I was disgusted watching this game. I say, what about Gap Integrity? What about contained?
Starting point is 00:07:01 Georgia Tech has run the football since I was a kid. Even when they had Megatron, they ran the damn football. When they had the Marius Thomas, they ran the football. Georgia Tech runs the football. It's like if you play the Naval Academy or Army, you know they're going to run the football, Ocho. I was like, Livingston, are you going to make any adjustment guys are what is your responsibility right about your gap
Starting point is 00:07:23 integrity what about what about your contain responsibility right I'm like this is utterly ridiculous and quarterback Salter bro you missed entirely too many throws he missed entirely too many throws oh Joe yes a number in number 20 got a nice set of hands on him the running back bro he wide open and I hate when quarterbacks do this so Joe when you miss a throw you go to the running back or you go to the ride receiving to me I want you no bro I was right here. Put it on me. All you had to do is hit me right here. Don't talk about turn. Don't do that. Don't do that. You effed it up. Yeah. And he had the guy on 3010. He missed entirely too many throws. Right. But their defense let them down tonight. You can't let somebody come into your building and run the ball 47 times. Right. Three hundred and twenty, 20 yards. I'm told. Let me see. Before you go, let me see what? Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:20 No, I'll go back. Fuck score. Man, Ocho, this was, I'm like, but I knew I was on the phone my brother early in the game. I see Spank, a team give you three turnovers at home in the first quarter and you only go seven points, you're telling that team, beat me, beat me, kick our ass. You're supposed to have a bear of them.
Starting point is 00:08:43 They didn't, and they got what they deserve. Yeah. Go ahead, Ocho, I'll find another second. Go ahead. I say, listen, what I was going to say is, obviously, Obviously, we all want to see what Colorado would look like without Shador Sanis, without Travis Hunter. And they didn't look that bad. First game of the season, you want to get the Kings out.
Starting point is 00:08:58 You want to see what areas you need to improve in. Obviously, we see defensively, defensively, Colorado has to be able to stop the run. Because now it's out there on tape. What do we do when we play against the Colorado Buffaloes to have success? We run the ball. That was the issue last year, though, Ocho. Damn. That was the issue last year.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Obviously, Georgia Tech showed that. That's an area that hasn't been filled, so that needs to be addressed. Boom, for me, for me, the beginning of the game, Georgia Tech tried to hand the game to Colorado. They tried to hand the game to, I'm saying, well, goddamn, in my mind, I'm looking, boom, after the first turnover, oh, them boy went down the scored, and then it was two more turnovers after that. I'm like, well, all right, I don't like the way this is looking,
Starting point is 00:09:43 because if you got the ball back two more times, you know. So he turned over within the first quarter for Georgia take. And you only do something with at one time, I say, you know what? It's going to come down to the end. It's going to come down to the end because offensively, they're not doing enough. They're not doing enough offensively to put me at ease and to put, you know, to make me calm. Because, for one, the first turnover, it was all the way in your territory. So, of course, it was easy to go down and score.
Starting point is 00:10:11 But the other two, it seemed like you really couldn't move the ball. They didn't. You didn't move the ball. You tried, you tried everything you could to establish the run. The run was, it was, uh, it was okay. They ran for, oh, Joe, they ran, I mean, they ran for 146 yards. Yeah, but obviously, Uncle, it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough.
Starting point is 00:10:30 You want, you want a happy balance of both, you know, to kind of keep the defense, you know, on, on their heels or not knowing what's going to come. Are they going to run it? How are they going to throw it? But they weren't good enough in the air either, huh? No. That's the quarterback, Ocho. Look, I think he has tremendous arm talent. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Bro, you don't have to impress us with every throw of your arm. You're missing routine throws. He's going to have to learn how to throw better on the move. Because on the move, he's not very good. And, you know, we're going to be nice, Ocho, because these are college kids. These aren't professionals. It's week one.
Starting point is 00:11:07 It's week one, too. It's week one. Ocho, throw it on the move. That should be able to week one, week, no one, week anything. should be able to throw he also the throws that he's missing because that's third down you're off the field you want to stay on the field I want another crack give me four more cracks at you right and we saw him miss numerous throws the second time he had an opportunity ohcho why would he could have ran the ball to the end zone instead of throwing it yeah yeah bro we we understand
Starting point is 00:11:36 that you you have a nice arm I mean we saw him launch at 60 65 yards but bro sometimes You got to understand, okay, this is an opportunity for me. That was not the time for you to try to dazzle, try to impress us with your arm. Right. Pick up the first down. And another thing, then I'm going to turn it back over to you. I don't know what Coach Primon was thinking. They got the ball back with a minute and seven seconds in the ball game.
Starting point is 00:12:01 You got two timeouts. And you don't use any. You took those same two timeouts you had to start that drive and you go into the locker room with them. So you throw one pass behind the line of scrimmage. You get tackled. You don't call timeouts. You don't complete another pass on second down. You don't call timeout.
Starting point is 00:12:18 And then the quarterback picks up a third down, but he burns eight, nine, ten seconds on the clock. What the hell are y'all doing? On the scramble. I'm not sure what was going on in that situation. Obviously, you want to use those timeouts to give yourself as much time as possible. Yes. Continue running play to try to get down in some type of range to throw a Hail Mary pass. I'm not sure what the issue was there.
Starting point is 00:12:44 But listen, they got some stuff they need to work on. They have some stuff they need to work on. I'm sure Prime is glad that college football is back. We're out there playing against opponents and not just ourselves. So we can see what areas we need to get better at. Obviously, some areas are some of the same stuff that we had issues with lab fear. I'm going to start with just the running game. Being able to stop the run game.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Having the ha'etless unc, having the meat and potatoes to be able to compete up there in the trenches and stop people from running down your goddamn first. Bro. 320? That's where it starts. 320. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot too, boy.
Starting point is 00:13:21 I'm Jake Hofer, and this is Back 40, a limited series show on Wired to Hunt, part of Meat Eat Eaters Podcast Network. Each episode, I'll be asking eight white-tail hunting pros, a focused, thought-provoking question about hunting and land management. How do I hunt the best part of the farm with less than ideal access? Should you? That's what the real question is. Stand without good access is not a good stand.
Starting point is 00:13:43 is not a good stand. Listen to Back 40 on IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Football is back. That's right. The new NFL season is here, and you should be listening to NFL Daily as we march along to Super Bowl 60.
Starting point is 00:14:00 This is a show for sickos like me. NFL Daily is your kind of show. It's in the name. NFL Daily, you'll have fresh content in your feed all season long. Myself, Greg Rosenthal, and an all-star cast of co-host will preview and re-react. cap every game all season long.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Josh Allen coming off an MVP season. And now lateral to Allen and reaching for the pylon. Are you kidding me? It's a touchdown. Have you ever seen that one before? Rookies making a name for themselves. Run again. Rejected as a bulldozer.
Starting point is 00:14:32 He is bouncing off defenders and dragged down. And of course, the Eagles trying to win another Lombardi. What a game. What a season. What a team. Eagles fans. Save it and rejoice. Listen to NFL Daily on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:14:52 I'm Dan. He's Ty. Hello. And we're the solid verbal college football podcast. College football season is here. And you know what that means. Your team is going to break your heart three times probably before Halloween. Uh-huh. But fear not.
Starting point is 00:15:10 The solid verbal will be right there with you through. Every soul-crushing loss, an impossible comeback. Listen to the Solid Verbal College Football Podcasts on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:15:52 The U.S. Open is here. And on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain, I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history. The predictions will we see a first time winner and the pressure. Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court. And of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans,
Starting point is 00:16:25 whether you play tennis or not. Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Have you heard about icon Venus Williams' recent wild card bids or the young Canadian Victoria Mboko making a name for herself? How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form? To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain. I heart women's sports production in partnership with deep blue sports and entertainment on the I heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart women's sports.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Oh, that's a whole lot now. Running the football and stopping the run is about will. It's about want to. Because schematically, I can't do it. Ocho, they weren't doing anything. He faked the toss and then they pull a guard or they pull a double guard or tackle or they'll pull a guard and they'll pull a running. that's all they were doing they weren't doing anything the past game schematically i can scheme people when i run the football it wasn't nothing fancy yeah it was nothing
Starting point is 00:17:24 it was our guys kicked your guys ass that's it yeah nothing that's what we did and that's why football is the for me mentally the toughest work because you know why ohcho you're asking the one man to move another man against his will mm-hmm now i know colorado they want to leave that but that patch of grass that that A gap, that B gap, that C or contained. I know they didn't want to leave it. Georgia Tech said, you're getting your ass up out of here. You're getting up out of here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:53 And I'm like, bro, what? Livingston, I know, hey, I look, you go back and you watch the film. There's a lot. There's nothing. You didn't really do a whole lot good. Other than the fact, you know, when they got the lead, I mean, you came down. They got, went got 20, you matched them. but then they go right back down the field
Starting point is 00:18:12 right back down the field and they ran the football on show do you know what it takes to take to go 75, 65, 70 yards and I just run it I think they threw one pass I think it through one pass yeah on the ground at that
Starting point is 00:18:27 on the ground of that hey listen you know you know the difference you know the difference and what matters when it comes wins and losses what you got up there in your front what you got to fill in trenches you ain't got to listen if you ain't got enough beating potatoes up there in your front
Starting point is 00:18:43 yard and you got them boys ain't got enough rocks in the back pocket you can get moved around you can get pushed around you know you understand that and that's what you saw tonight week one the same issues you had last year and it's only one way to fix it you got to get them big hogs up there you got to that's the only way to stop it and then if you don't have the size you got to have people that want it but they got this that want to come downhill. Well, you know, you want to move me against my will,
Starting point is 00:19:15 but let me show you, I'm not one of those that you're just going. I ain't going. I ain't going nowhere. I ain't going. I ain't going. I'm coming to the party. It don't matter what time I get there, but I'm going to be there. Corners. Ocho, whatever happened to I'm not going to let my outside
Starting point is 00:19:33 arm get pinned. You never give up that leverage. Right. Where is the hell leverage? Where is contain don't know i mean i'm sure it's hard for me to believe with the personnel that time has on that staff right they don't teach leverage they don't teach contain they don't teach gap responsibility gap integrity i refuse to believe that and constantly i see i see dbs giving up the outside arm and the guy running down the sideline constantly i see offensive linemen i'm like bro that is your gap how you let that man get you up out of there that is you you
Starting point is 00:20:09 your gap. And the funny thing about it is coaches can coach it and repeat it over and over and over and over as many times they won't. But when the bullets is flying on, you have one responsibility to take what you're taught and execute the exes and those. That all come down to want to. That all comes down to want to at the end of the day. Oh, Joe. Here's the thing. When you walking through something, it's easy. but if you want to find out what a man can do put him to the test ah come on that the test is when the hut when that ball moves that's the test see i know what you i know what you're doing when you're walking through yeah i know what you're doing but if you want to know what a man can
Starting point is 00:20:57 really do put him to the test put his ass under the gun and let's see what he does because i've seen so many guys and you have to yeah practice oh they look like oh they'll beckham the ball. They running the ball. They, hey, I'm like, well, damn, look at how you break on the ball. Dion Sanders?
Starting point is 00:21:15 And then get in the game, and he's playing like Colonel Sanders. I'm like, oh, no, hell no. Man, please. So, man, I'm sorry. Chad, I'm on one tonight. If you guys can tell
Starting point is 00:21:31 that Colorado game, they got me pissed off. I don't know. I'm to the highest. Pistivity. Is that a word? Yeah. Hey, who are they playing like Colonel Who? Yeah. I mean, in practice, they look like Dionne Sanders, breaking on the ball. Now they get in the game, they're looking like Colonel Sanders.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Fried chicken. Oh, God. Hey. And I'm looking, and I understand, I understand. Yeah. Some of these guys, I mean, I mean, starting for the first time, bright lights. Yeah, it's different. But that's what, that's what makes we who, who, who, make us who we are to being able to to perform under under duress under adversity if or not forget that I can't get my outside armpit I got to I got to right I got to hold contain I got to maintain my leverage I've got to have sound gap responsibility yeah and you can't
Starting point is 00:22:32 throw that out the window because now all of a sudden they firing off the ball that's the thing you've got to be able to hold that yeah and said i'm not look maybe i'm used in turn but you watch the game you saw what i saw hell my old ass could have ran through some of them holes now wouldn't have got no 45 yards but i'd have got the first down i'm like damn it's they've got cut look it's the first game on show and for me i've always felt that I want to at home, especially the first game, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:23:11 want to win that. I got a whole soul. I got a whole soul. You got to win that. And listen, they had plenty of opportunity, they had an opportunity. When they got those two,
Starting point is 00:23:20 that second and that third tone over and didn't do anything with the ball, I said, it's going to be a long night. That should have set the tone for the game right there. Should have put them down. And worst case scenario, Ocho, put them down 13 nothing,
Starting point is 00:23:36 17 nothing. Yeah. Yes. At worst case, with three turnovers and that team's on the road, you're in your home, it can't be 7-0 going into the second quarter. It cannot be. It cannot be. And it puts all the pressure back on Georgia Tech. Because go ahead, go ahead. I'm going to say it puts all the pressure back on Georgia Tech where you won't have that comfortability of being able to run the ball all the second half long. Because guess what, Ocho?
Starting point is 00:24:07 I still got you actually a you didn't take me out you didn't take me out of what I want to do that because it's only seven nothing now maybe if it's 17 nothing maybe if it's 21 nothing I got a change the game plan thank you I got to change with now even with these turnovers you allow me to still stay in my comfort zone yes so yeah so damn hey I don't know how to do Ocho but most of the time if somebody if you don't make somebody get up out the if you got if you rent an apartment if you use somebody landlord right and they go they go a month or two and they pay you your money there's a good chance they're not going to pay you three a month four month five months six so and so they
Starting point is 00:24:45 squatting they squatting basically I've got them okay guess what you come home you it's locked your padlock or the locks changed uh-huh and they don't know what I don't know what happened I know what happened you 13,000 your 15,000 in the rears on rent who and I've got responsibilities feeling i got i got banks that won't their mortgage on this on this building and you talk about man that bank don't want to hear nothing but you lost your job right because i can't you know what i'm a brain your money next month because you know a couple of my tenants lost their job they're not trying to hear that at all in this situation right here all colorado deal with you across the field
Starting point is 00:25:31 hey appreciate their three turnovers now kick our ass yeah that's it you got you got you got Turn over than the first quarter, out you? Yeah, you got to do something with that. You got to. After the second one, I say, okay, if they get another one, we got to, we got to, we got to find a way to get the game out of their hands. Yes. Make it a little easy on the back end.
Starting point is 00:25:55 But once they, after that second one, and they went damn, damn near three and out, you know, damn near. They did. Might as well have been. I say, you know, it's going to be a long night. Oh, I knew. I know they wouldn't winning this game. Once they got them three turnovers in the first quarter,
Starting point is 00:26:10 and they only came away with seven points, and you allow Georgia Tech to stay within the scheme of what they want to do. The first thing I want to do, if you are a running team, I want to get you out of that. I don't want you to be able to run the football. I want to, what do you do? What is the second best thing that you do? I want you to play to that.
Starting point is 00:26:27 I don't want you to play to your strength, Ocho. I want you to play to your weakness. And if you beat me with your weakness, Ocho, I come to the center of field. Congratulations. Good job. Hey, stay healthy. I see you down the road.
Starting point is 00:26:37 coach but I'm not going to let you beat me when I know that's what you want to do right but like I said I know the D coordinator I understand y'all put a lot of time in because you know what Georgia Tech does Georgia Tech wants to run the football but your gap integrity your leverage your contain was piss poor yeah and that'll cause you to lose a lot of games that caused you to lose a lot of games. We had this conversation last year when they played Kansas. We had these conversations over the years when we're discussing Colorado about being able to stop the run.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Now, one thing I will say, Ocho, they look better in past protection. Oh, yeah, absolutely. That left tackle is going to go play at the next level. That left tackle number 77, he'll go play at the next level. Yeah, he'll go play. Yeah, he's going to go play. He's going to be playing on Sundays.
Starting point is 00:27:30 But they've got to do a better job. I don't care how good you are offensively. If you cannot stop the run, because they'll just, I mean, think about it. They still have five more minutes of possession with three turnovers. Yeah. And a lot of turnover are like two plays.
Starting point is 00:27:47 One play turnover. Three plays turnover. You give them the ball back too fast. You're not doing nothing with it. You're not doing nothing with it. Man, I just, man, I was, man, I was so frustrated because I'm like, Hold on, you think you frustrated tonight. Wait till you, wait, wait till you see tomorrow's game.
Starting point is 00:28:07 You might be frustrated again. Who? Who play tomorrow? Well, Texas and Ohio State. What you mean? Oh, yeah. Look, I think the thing is, Ocho, when games, if you know somebody, I'm going to be watching, because I like Sark. I know Sark, he and I, we communicate.
Starting point is 00:28:23 So, yes, I'm going to be pulling for Sart. Oh, I'm sorry, Chad. Yes, I'm going to be pulling for Sart because I like him. But, you know, when you know time, you kind of very, You know, you and I both have gone to see you, watch them play. It's a great atmosphere, and this was a winnable game for Colorado. But they did everything they possibly could to help Georgia Tech steal it from them. But Georgia Tech is steal it.
Starting point is 00:28:46 They went on the road. They outplayed them. And coach says, look, we got, we, we look, give their defense credit because the defense bowed their back because they got the three, they only gave up seven points on those three turnovers. So that could have, they could have gotten, it could have gotten out of hand. Colorado took care of football. They didn't turn it over, not one time.
Starting point is 00:29:04 They had less penalties, but when you let a team go run for 320, 320, I mean, first of all, 200 yards, a lot. We just start letting teams get 300, 400, 400 yards running on you? Mm-hmm. Please. Yeah. Please. But I'm sure Coach Prime, I don't know how they do it in college, Joe.
Starting point is 00:29:27 I mean, we played on, we played Saturday. we was off Sunday unless we play like horse and coach and make us put our uniforms on and go practice and I was thinking about that Ocho Ocho, do you know, I mean think about it Ocho if you played the game on Monday, I mean Sunday and coach and you in the Cincinnati and said Ocho put your pads on we're going to practice on the Monday. I don't know about that
Starting point is 00:29:48 that ain't. Hey listen, hey Gray, grown folk, now grown folk that ain't going to work. We are not putting no pads on after playing a three-hour game on a Sunday. That's not happening. I'm not sure who the team captain would be but I can guarantee you they will not be in no pads after game day Uncle you already know how we feel in after this game day
Starting point is 00:30:08 What? Yes, I absolutely know You know how long it takes to get out of bed After a game, man I do put on some pads Pads who? Shoot Nah, ain't happy But they'll probably have tomorrow off Come in Monday, watch the tape
Starting point is 00:30:26 Get ready because it's a fast turnaround on show You can't, you can't let this linger. That's an inch is there. Not long. It's just something about Luke, look, it's been damn to 40 years since I was in college, Ocho, but there's something about, and I was never a big guy that went out after the game,
Starting point is 00:30:42 but I can assure you, if we lost, we're going to see Shed and Shawface on the apples. Oh, hell now. First of all, you barely saw me after win. Barely. I'm talking about maybe, I think I went to maybe one party in four years of college. I ain't, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:30:57 and we lose yeah i'm i'm looking at the guys filing out man they they they hurry back old show to especially if we home right they they hurry up and shower and go to the party i'm like you sorry mofos y'all want people to see y'all hey just lost but i i tell you what though this is how i look at it and i'm gonna be honest you have to think my time during my tenure in in cincinnati we had what maybe one maybe two winning seasons yeah my entire this when i was there so i had no choice but in having my business week in and week out whether we're winning and losing because I'm stepping outside I'm stepping outside and I can tell you I know exactly where I was at because I had friends of mine that I met Maine Rico Lose all them boys down in Cincinnati as a
Starting point is 00:31:44 group of five on we've been friends since 2001 I have no other outside friends outside of those I met on the first day I got I got lost in Cincinnati first day still friends of this day do we before the annies after every game. We play at 1 o'clock, the game in at 3, we had Jay Alexander's at 6 o'clock, and then when 10 or whatever I call roll around, oh, I'm going out. I'm going out because I'm trying to enjoy myself,
Starting point is 00:32:11 get some of the soreness out, walk around, you know, have a little fun, talk to some of the fans, you know, the dudes out, you know, out the hood that be out off a short bind and wherever they're from. You know, just talk football. I like that.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I was more of a people person, you know, during that time and love to talk to the game of football whether we were losing or winning. And I would always show my face, whether you were losing to win it. I mean, I enjoyed it. I mean, one of the worst times I had, Ocho, I was in Baltimore,
Starting point is 00:32:40 and we had made, I had already made reservations at Ruth, Chris. I had brought everybody in it. We lost the game. If I had to have my mom and my sister and all them kids, I'd cancel that. You'd welcome to win. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I would get takeout. I would get takeout. We lost the game? Right. Hey, Sean, we're going by such and such. I say, no, I'm going on home. I'm going home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I'm, hey, I'm a sore loser. I'm a worst winner. Right. But I don't, I didn't, I don't, I don't, I don't want to be around nobody. I know how I am, I'm moody, I'm irritable. Because guess what? That's why y'all lost. Y'all out here parted.
Starting point is 00:33:15 You need to be home in your playbook. You need to be studying your play. You know what I'm saying? I don't, I mean, I ain't trying to hear that. Right, right, right, right, right. Let me take my black ass home, soke, mote, and think about, and think about, man, what could I have done differently? Right.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Hey, hey, I was hanging with us. I was hanging with us. We have a game. We have a game. Obviously, we played 1 o'clock. I swear for God, you would think I wasn't even a football player. For one, not just a football player, but a star football player at that. Because if you catch me at a football game before me and the fellas go eat dinner,
Starting point is 00:33:54 you can just catch me on short vines. You can kiss me down the way. I go see my little young bulls that enjoy the game of football. I sit there with them, talk about the game for a little bit, you know, chit-chat. We're on the corner, huh? We're on the corner in Cincinnati, just chilling. I'm talking football for about an hour or two. I sit there with them, smoking cigar after the game.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Boom, I go down to Jay Alexander's. My routine was the exact same for a decade straight. It never changed. Well, I don't know if they're still in existence, but I would go, I would call. I would get black eye pee with the name of the restaurant. I would get the grilled chicken or the country-fired state. I would get colonel, I would get rice, I would get kernel corn, and I would get black-eyed peas. Get some, I get a combination of like lemon, lemon tea, lemons, uh, raspberry tea or something.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Yeah. And I'm going home. I'm going home. I want to be, I want to be miserable by myself. I don't want to see nobody. I want to talk about, I don't want nobody to tell me you played a good game because I played like dog. I don't care if I have 150. 50. I played terrible. I didn't play good enough to win. And I don't, I don't want nobody to try to
Starting point is 00:35:00 pat me on the back. You guys are going to get, no, we're not. Right. No, I don't know what's going to happen after this. I'm talking about this game. So I knew, I know how I am. I've always been like this. Uh, we lost the game in high school. Hey, Sean, we go, man, I'm going home. Coach taking me home. Mm-hmm. We win. Right. Your boy, hey, you boy, hey, I'm going walk the streets with y'all right right right right we lose yeah you you say you take you take you take I feel you no no because I know because I've always been one of these guys that worked so hard for it I know what I put in and the more you put into something the more it hurt when it doesn't work out in your favor see I like what you just said you know what you put in I I understand what I put in
Starting point is 00:35:45 I understand the work I put in to make sure I it's a team game right yeah game when it when it comes time to get paid, you get paid individually. You do. You do. I made sure I did my part. You definitely do. If things don't now, if the other 10 don't do what they're supposed to do, now I'm not going to punish myself.
Starting point is 00:36:06 I'm punishing myself. Why am I not going nowhere because y'all's song? You know, I'm going to get out here. I'm going to go get my Jay Alexander's. I'm going to talk to my home boys, you know. And I'm going to go out. I'm going to go to Annie's and I'm going to enjoy myself. Now, I don't dream.
Starting point is 00:36:22 no alcohol, but, you know, I got my fellas with me. I got my fellas with me. I'm going to make sure they have a good time. Man. Oh, a transformer just hit Joe's house, and so he ain't got no power. What?
Starting point is 00:36:41 Joe got buzzet, look. He need to move. Hey, Joe, a Joe over there on a hundred million dollar property. A hundred million dollar property, 273,000. thousand square feet and ain't got no power with a goddamn generator joe joe with a generator i know you got a generator out there joe everybody should have one atlanta cause them pop-up storm
Starting point is 00:37:04 gonna pop up and knock it out go knock your power out hold on can joe can you see us right now hey joe can you see us hey face-time he's got no power now he got a cell phone on on internet you don't got uh come on that you know you need uh lTE or a g5 what you call it what you call the provider yeah uh 5g yeah that aren't required nothing your phone should work joe facetime me joe if you can see this face timmy if he ain't got no internet he can't face time you yes you can't huh no you can't but the internet in the house has nothing to do with your cell phone working man look here okay And he can FaceTime, I could just hold the phone up. He can still be part of the show.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Coach Prime, who was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer and needs frequently use of the restroom no longer has to travel far. He has a portable toilet next to Colorado's bench to accommodate him following bladder reconstruction surgery. And it's sponsored. Bearing tie by this mind. Hey, that depends. I know they're paying well for that.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Oh, yeah, for sure. Because a lot of people embarrassed to that, Ocho. Ooh. Well, I wish I would. You know how many zeros probably come behind that right now? Yeah, but I'm saying a lot of people are back, don't want people to know that they have to wear, you know, adults undergarment.
Starting point is 00:38:29 You don't know what I'm saying like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Listen, you got to understand who prime is. You got to know what prime is. He's one that can wear any and everything on his shoulders. Don't give a damn, but none of the outside thing. People wear them, but they don't want to advertise it. But like you said, you know, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:38:46 say, hey, they make them for a reason. Oh, yeah. Anytime they make something, somebody is purchasing it. So it's a lot of, you know, sometimes women, after they have kids, it takes a while for them, for those muscles to get back strong again. Sometimes men, they have bladder cancel, they have prostate, they have issues.
Starting point is 00:39:04 It's hard. And some, you know, hey, my grandmother, my grandmother wouldn't wear them. She said, live, I want my dignity. So my grandmother wouldn't wear them. And you know, she obviously, She passed, I think, granted, was 88. And May, she was 88, so she passed in July.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Yeah. Listen, I tell you what. Depends, if you see this, come on how I let you boy. Come on how I let you. It doesn't wrong with you. Huh? Hey, but sometimes I do be thinking about getting me a goose. Man, I'd be tired of walking to the bathroom, man.
Starting point is 00:39:37 I just need to get me a goose and go right inside the bed. Give me something where I could just roll over to the right or roll over to the left. I don't want to get up out of bed anyway because I keep, I keep, I keep upstairs up, boy, by 60 degrees. 60 degrees. It's freezing up there. So when I got to get up in the middle of the night, sometimes I don't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:39:55 I could always use some depends. Hey, I'm going to date myself here. And if you, if you my age are older and you're from the south, you know what I'm talking about. Hey, I'm going to get me a night pot or a slop jar. See, if you're from the south and you're my age of older, you know exactly. They call them pea pots.
Starting point is 00:40:12 They call them night pots. They call them slop jars. Slop jar. I ain't never heard. You can Google it. That's what I, anytime I say something, man, I see, hey. Hey, you know that, uh, wouldn't that mean? That's, she immediately, anytime I say something, won't you know, I can see the thing.
Starting point is 00:40:35 But, uh, yeah, but I'll be look, to where it depends, that's the least of, that's the least of the issues. Yeah, I was, I'm glad they caught this in time. i mean think about it boy a god good god great and what he instilled in man to take his bladder and reconstruct it and use a small man please i like that man i like but uh if anybody look this man that joey time his attitude about anything yes he'll make anything positive yeah it can be the worst situation he's one of the few people no matter how bad a situation is he can make it positive he can make light of a situation make a part a and you a and the thing that you know hey like when uh i did the interview and i know a lot of you guys
Starting point is 00:41:26 have seen the interview when i went up there and i started getting on everybody's toes yeah he wouldn't have it any other way because he's like you know if it was on the if it was you you know i get you i'm like absolutely i know absolutely i know the joke's going flat now that's that's something that's going to always happen we but we We all have that type of relationship, though. Yeah. Oh, you okay? That's why, hey, you okay, you're good?
Starting point is 00:41:48 Man, you know I'm good. Oh, you shouldn't have told me that. You should have said, nah. I'm Jake Khofer, and this is Back 40, a limited series show on Wire to Hunt, part of Meat Eaters Podcast Network. Starting point is 00:42:04 about hunting and land management. How do I hunt the best part of the farm with less than ideal access? Should you? That's what the real question is. Stand without good access is not a good stand. Listen to Back 40 on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Football is back.

Starting point is 00:44:35 Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court. And, of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not. Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Should it's over that, because I've got to get you. Ocho, the trade heard around the world last night, the Dallas Cowboys, did the unthinkable,
Starting point is 00:45:35 trading the four-time pro bowler, defensive rookie of the year, a two-time first team all pro. Michael Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first round picks and defensive tackle, Kenny Clark. The Packers handed Michael Parsons the largest, the largest contract
Starting point is 00:45:53 for a non-quarterback in NFL history. He got four years, 188 million, 120, fully guaranteed at signing. Yeah. And 136 total
Starting point is 00:46:07 guaranteed 188 million total Ocho. Yeah. Talk to me. Take your time too now. You won't be to start it all? Well, I can start it all because I listen, I'm not, you will probably get a little bit more in depth than I will,
Starting point is 00:46:22 but I would just do this. Chat, y'all stay with me real quick. This is all ego. This is all ego and pride on Jerry's hands. Yep. When he did the deal and he got in front of the camera, he did some as always that he shouldn't have done. one of the first things he said
Starting point is 00:46:39 is this was a good trade and two, we need to be able to stop the run. Now, you bring it in Kenny Clark and again, once again, put the pressure on Kenny Clark and your defense and the coach and staff
Starting point is 00:46:54 to be able to stop the run because who you play week one on? Who are they playing? We go to Philly. They're going to Philly. And what does Philly do extremely well outside of throwing the ball? Run to football.
Starting point is 00:47:05 now you can put your team in a blender doing the same thing you always doing is doing all that talking before it's even time to play and you ain't been in a NAN meeting room and you even been on NAM field oh letting one of the greatest young superstars
Starting point is 00:47:24 of all time go and you feel your team has gotten better how does that make you? That's cliche talk, Ocho Oh, we got better. Really? So if you felt that way, why were you trying to sign him? If you thought you could get better by trading Michael Parsons, why did you even offer him $200 million?
Starting point is 00:47:43 Now, all this time, the last four years they were getting run on, I never heard Jerry say a word about running on. Now, I don't know about y'all, but the thing is, you want guys to go hunt the quarterback because the Kansas City Chiefs stop the run. What did the Eagles do? They got after my homeboy. Yeah. Because that's the guy, that's the head of the snake, is your quarterback.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Yeah. And Al Davis coined the same. He said, he's coined the phrase, the quarterback must go down, and he must go down hard. And it needs to happen early in the game. And often. See, Jerry, see, again, if you watch the documentary, America's team, the gambler and the, I think the Dallas Cowboys, it was his ego. That's what calls him in charity court.
Starting point is 00:48:37 So now he doesn't, well, we had a handshake deal. What? We can't do that, man. First of all, you cannot, if a player has representation, the owner or the nor the general manager can negotiate a deal with the player. You must talk to his agent. Jerry knows that. Michael probably thought, I'm shaking hand on your.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Hey, man, Jerry is good to see. Jerry said, Well, you shook my hand. We got a deal. It's been reported that Michael said, okay, Jerry, call my agent. Yeah. Then, oh, we do the deal. I've done plenty of these deals.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Well, you shouldn't have. The NFL should have punished you. The NFLPA, he told on himself, oh, I've done plenty of these. Well, we have to argue. You also have to understand the leverage that Jerry Jones has. If you got an owner like Jerry Jones that says some of the things that he says out loud that owners are not even supposed to say, Maybe think, but you never actually regurgitated in front of a camera.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Understand that the whole world is listening and watching. So you know he don't care enough about that. Then we talk about the same owner that you told me about sued the NFL. Yeah. He had the nerve and the gall and the Cajonis to sue the NFL and say, I'm going to get every day. And if I'm not mistaken, basically won. He basically won. He did.
Starting point is 00:50:03 He changed it. So what is the NFLPA going to do? What they're going to do? There's nothing they can do because he doesn't care. He's in a position of power right now to be able to do what he wants because he just let the world know I tried to handle contract negotiations without Micah Parsons' representation. All he's doing is telling you to his eye, I mean, to everybody's face.
Starting point is 00:50:25 He says he's done plenty of these. Yeah, two middle fingers up. What are you going to do? Well, why did you do that with Dak? Why did you not circumvent Todd, friends. Hey, Dag don't play that. Oh, you know how, you know that. You know, if you don't know that personally, you know that and Jerry don't see eye to eye
Starting point is 00:50:42 and he doesn't have that friendly, that friendly band to relationship with Jerry Jones. Dak is one of the few players that actually kept it strictly business because I already was like that too. Micah and Jerry didn't have. Micah did not have the same type of relationship that Jerry had with Michael Irvin. Right. or he had with some of the other players that come along. Michael's like, I'm going to do, I'm here to do business.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I'm going to do my job to the best of my God-given ability. But, hey, it is a business and I want to keep it moving. Now, me, and I'm just talking about me, guys. I think once, you know, Jerry started saying all this stuff, you know, we pay him, who's to say that we're going to have him? Remember, he missed all these games. He's still calling the man Michael Parsons and not Micah. Even Stephen had to say Micah that, you know, basically Micah.
Starting point is 00:51:34 We're doing it on purpose, I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but I'm just saying, Ocho, I think as Micah's, as Micah started to listen to what this man was saying, like this man don't, this man don't respect me at all. This man don't respect nothing about me at all. Jerry think, I mean, you own the team, but you don't own me. And that's how Jerry thinking, Jerry's thinking, if I pay you, I should, I should. I should tell you, come in the old day, they had the mute, they say, G and how you take get up with your stop. Mm-hmm. That's how Jerry's mentality is.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Yeah. Hey, I'm just, I'm not saying that he don't feel the same way about the other player, but I'm just saying his mentality is, if I pay you, you do what I tell you to do. Yeah, no, bro. It ain't, it ain't like that. And as, and it is reported, I don't know, James Slater said that Michael says, okay,
Starting point is 00:52:30 let's get a deal. Jerry say, nah, you're going to play on the fifth your option or you can leave. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:52:35 we'll make it happen then. Yeah, you got the right one. Because I'm not playing, I'm not playing for 21 or 24. I'm not. So whatever you got to do, do what you've got to do.
Starting point is 00:52:46 So what about all, so I'm just trying to, all these years, because the Cowboys' weakness over the last since Michael's been there or before he got there was the inability to stop the run. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:57 I remember Cleveland Browns ran for 300 yards. Arizona Cardinals ran for 300. The Baltimore Ravens ran for 300. Pick a team that didn't run. Jerry ain't mentioned nothing. So if you just got better, because I remember when Jerry was there in chat, y'all correct me from wrong,
Starting point is 00:53:12 all the time that he was telling you, these teams remind him of those Super Bowl winning teams. He just traded a player that was on the team that he said had as much talent, if not more than those Super Bowl winning team. He just traded him and said he got better. Listen, Kenny Clark is good. Kenny Clark is good, huh?
Starting point is 00:53:36 He ain't no slouch. He ain't no slouch. He's 30, but we talk about Michael Parsons. We talk about Michael Parsons. We talk about a generational talent. I'm going in the draft looking for a Michael Parsons, a T.J. Watt, a Miles Garrett. I'm trying to get, those are transformational players.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Those are the guys that you're trying to get. I tell you what, tell me to run. stopper that's in the hall of fame they got a gold jacket even we were just talking about linda william he's talking about how aaron donald changed it where they won't they won't they won't guys to get the de-tackle to go get double-digit sacks different that's a different because they throw the ball so but they so much emphasis on the passing game i need a guy that can attack the quarterback yeah that's what michael parsons does first of all jerry you're not You're going to have to, because here's the thing,
Starting point is 00:54:30 Ojo, the way they're constructed this team, the Dallas Cowboys, the office is supposed to get the lead, the team is supposed to be ahead, the other team can't run the football, they throw, Michael Parsons go hunt the quarterback. What happens when Dak turns it over or they don't have this big lead?
Starting point is 00:54:47 So now, because you've constructed a team that you lighten the bridges, you can't hold up when they boom, and they come and boom, and they come and boom. Right. like Marshawn said over and over and over and over you hit him in the face that's what Jerry don't understand so unless you're going to redesign your team yeah let me know how you know how to work out for you but again I would say that the trade the trade is it's not it's not even
Starting point is 00:55:20 swapping in any way based on skill and talent at the positions Kenny Clark is very good Kenny Clark is very good. He has a down year, but he said he had a foot injury last year. But Michael Parsons is a generational talent. I don't care what people say. They try to hate. I don't care what it may be. I mean, if your eyes, if you know the game of football, if you watch football, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:44 even for me as being a receiver, I understand what he brings to the table regards to what team he goes to. He's a difference maker completely. He wrecks havoc. Oh, yeah. I can't believe Jerry did that I can't believe Jerry said some of the things he said for it to even get to this point
Starting point is 00:56:02 because if you paid him last year ahead of time and tried the copycat with some of the other owners doing around the NFL to continue to build team winning teams then you wouldn't have this issue you would run into this problem
Starting point is 00:56:18 but your ego continues to get in your way and it's been getting your way to past 30 years every time he talked Ocho or toe pops out. Because he got the whole foot in his mouth. Oh, yeah. So every time he talk, I see another toe. I say, mm-hmm, there it is.
Starting point is 00:56:30 But I will say this, look, look, when you get drafted somewhere, there's like a sense of loyalty that, you know, I want, you know what? I want to be a one jersey guy. I want to be one helmet. I want to stay here for the rest of my career. And I do believe Micah would have preferred to stay there. Me, okay, the Packers gave him 47 million. Ocho, but to stay in Dallas, I took 44.
Starting point is 00:56:54 Let me tell you why. Because what can I do with 44 that I got to have 47? Because, see, and plus, now, it's being reported that the podcast caused some problems. See, the podcast is on the value when he's a cowboy. Hmm. And nobody wants to, hey, they want to hear about the cowboys. They want to hear about the boys. They want to hear about Jerry.
Starting point is 00:57:13 They want to hear about Dak. I'm sorry. And this is not a shot at no other team. But there's a reason. There's a reason why. Yeah, it's different. It's different. It is absolutely.
Starting point is 00:57:22 It's different. Anything attached to that star. Right. Especially if you're playing there, you want to take advantage of that window when you are there because it comes with so much. Yeah, bro. It comes with so much. Troy, media, uh, uh, uh, Romo, media. Dandy Don Merida, meter, media.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Michael Irvin, media. Mm-hmm. What other, what other franchise can boast that? now that the guys that call the color guy do you know the color guys Troy yeah two of the pro forma prominent spots occupied by Cowboys quarterback now I know loud of y' I don't remember when Danny Don Meredith was on was on ABC with Howard Coasell yeah he was a cowboy Michael Irvin was a cowboy Moose Johnson, Cowboy.
Starting point is 00:58:19 Moose. Hey, Swagoo, Cowboy. Cowboy. Yeah. That's not an accident. That's not an accident. And plus, if you, look, Michael Irvin, they call the football. Michael Irving makes millions.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Emmett make millions. And ain't none of them caught a football around a football in two decades. Yeah. Michael retired before me and Emmett retired a year after me. So, and Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy just retired, yeah. So think about that, Ocho. Yeah. That's not an accident.
Starting point is 00:58:57 So the money that you were going to be able to make, now, look, it's all mute now. It's a moot point. Mute means you can't hear a moot. Absolutely. Anyway, with that being saying, it doesn't matter now. But I'm just saying, if the opportunity would have. to present it itself yes say okay we got we we we're not going to give you 47 because this really reset the market 44 would reset the market that's three million dollars more than what my
Starting point is 00:59:25 than what t j wott got so so that's an extra 12 million they went six they were 24 so i don't i don't have a problem it hurt him oh joe because anytime they's a play a team trade you right they say we we we good without you hmm that that ain't over the thought of it. Yeah. And I don't like, I don't like. This is what I hate. I hate when players get traded,
Starting point is 00:59:55 players that we know are really good, players that play for our team, and you know how good the player is, and when they get traded, then as a fan... The fans start talking about, oh, he wasn't that good anyway. Like, come on, man.
Starting point is 01:00:08 You never said that when he was there. You're only saying that now. Again, that's your team. That's their team. mocho and look it's team because guess what somebody else is going to wear that number 11 one day all they see is the star on that helmet players come and go they're interchangeable they've had great players with the cowboy all the way back when they came into existence in 1960 when they drafted bob lily and they got Randy white and they got all these guys they got a lot of a lot of
Starting point is 01:00:35 Hall of Famers yeah and so that's what they see they see it doesn't the name okay yeah we love Emmett, we love Troy, we love those guys, but guess what? We got new Cowboys now. We love them too. Well, hell, you just let a future Hall of Fame ago. Mm-hmm. And I know Michael wanted one of those blue coats that you know, the Ring of Fame, but you saw Jimmy
Starting point is 01:00:58 and you saw, uh, uh, uh, uh, you saw Emmett and all those guys wearing those blue coats. We have orange ones. Um, you know, somebody, uh, I think the Dolphins got that teal color, if I'm not mistaken. Um, the Patriots got the red, got red coats. Yeah. That's not going to happen now.
Starting point is 01:01:13 Because, you know, think about how long it took him to put Jimmy in. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I mean, and it probably, look, he got enough money. And the difference was, Ocho, is that Mike is 26. In three years, he can go back to the table and get another big deal. Exactly. Jerry wanted to do five years plus the, plus the fifth year option, which is six.
Starting point is 01:01:34 To make, not make sure you not, you won't be able to come back in double dip. Yep. Yep. but uh ohcho we had this conversation chat now it was green bay man people they need to stop making up stuff oh cho and now we tried to tell y'all when these when these stuff this stuff keeps leaking out it's coming from somewhere i know y'all don't want to believe that your favorite player or they could potentially trade your favorite player or release your favorite player i know you don't want to believe that but where you think this stuff come from people so of all the things someone could
Starting point is 01:02:15 have said by green to the packers was what they went with all the things they could have said of all the teams 32 teams 53 players per team plus somewhere between 13 and 16 practice squad guys of every storyline they could have said right this is what they went with hey where there's smoke there's fire where there is smoke there's fire you know and the first thing people want to say, well, who's your source? Don't worry about the source. Whatever you're hearing somewhere. They know how to get it out there. I don't know how they get it out there, but they get it out there. This is how to get it out there. Hey, man, I'm going to tell you something. Hey, you ain't here
Starting point is 01:02:55 from me. You know how you, hey, put your spin on it. Okay. I'm just, I'm just telling how it is. Oh, man. I love them. I'm not an insider. I'm not. And I don't really try to break no news. I could. I could, but that ain't, that ain't what I was, when I was on CBS, that's not what they paid me for. Right. They had Charlie Casley for that. When I was on Fox, that's what they had Jay Glazer for. I'm with ESPN. That's what they got Adam Schaefter for. I ain't breaking nothing. Right. I'm going to keep my relationship because I have to be very, very careful. Because people got all over me when I said what I was saying about when Russ, man,
Starting point is 01:03:33 well, how do you know? I don't know. Right. He ain't in the locker room. Right. Okay, but I'm just saying. So I just say, at that point in time, I say, you know what, Shana, it ain't any worth it. It ain't, it ain't worth it to you. I don't know. I'm just going to speak what this is what, you know, for me, if I was in the locker room, X, Y, Z, knowing. Knowing. But, but, Ocho, you could tell the more and more Jerry talk.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Oh, he made it work. He made it worse. The more he was like dug in. He made it worse. Hey, you know what? He called Stephen A. He wanted to get his point out there with Stephen A. Stephen A, hey, sitting down with Jerry.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Jerry's like this. First time, we got him on the contract for three more years. Nobody was in. You and I had that discussion. I said, Ocho, he got the fifth year option and he got two franchise tags. So theoretically, he could be a jerk about it and says, okay, play on the fifth year option, franchise franchise okay go ahead and go but i don't got seven years of service out you listen and michael we're going to be a jerk too you notice you notice they say he was cleared
Starting point is 01:04:50 for his back pains right so you know what he did or y'all want to play game so we're going to play the game i'm going to go get a second opinion and i'm going to make sure the second opinion i get make sure let y'all know that i can't play right he was going to play the game so jerry i understood okay you know it he ain't playing he's not from the fold he really fend to play this game so it's better my third opinion yeah yeah so
Starting point is 01:05:16 that second opinion sounded too much like the first opinion so let me go get a third opinion I need a descending I did a descending vote you know three you know look the Cowboys say they're a better team I don't know how you trade your best defensive player I believe he
Starting point is 01:05:33 he's the best he was their best player either side of the ball I don't know how you trade him and get better. We'll see what they do with the draft compensation. You know, you could look at Houston and say when they traded DeShan, they got better. They got C.J. Strau, they got Nico Collins. They got Anderson. So, you know, I'm saying, Ocho, you can say, oh, they got better.
Starting point is 01:05:58 They got some all pros over there. They got a franchise quarterback. You got a hell of a defensive lineman. You got a really young, great receiver. We did all right, Ocho. now that's getting better that's getting better but i want to i want to see what they do with the draft picks but i don't know if you can't attack a team's quarterback that's how they're built you were built they got undersized offensive linemen except mazzi smith but that's his job
Starting point is 01:06:28 so you put so in other words you put all the well we didn't stop the run we'll look at look at my bro you sing so you sing so now because you guys got ran on you put all that on mica yeah also well wait a minute he said the problem is fixed now though he said the problem is fixed we'll be we got better we got kennie car therefore i feel we can stop the run now so now you don't put the pressure on them boys and the boys they didn't play yet and they got to play the eagles week one so when things don't turn out how you said they are as far as you guys getting better to stop the run and you got saiquan barkley running for 250 yards on Now you got another problem.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Where Jaila Hertz ordered Uber Eats back there talking about what they got? I like the Mugu Guy Pan. I like the General Joe's chicken. I like the, uh, hey, y'all got, y'all got egg rolls? You be back there smoking a cigar, chilling? Yeah, because Lane Johnson and my lota ain't to be played with. Ain't that, ain't nothing by, nothing by. How about how we gotten better, not realized.
Starting point is 01:07:39 on who you play week one. Do you remember the defense, do you understand the officer line you're getting ready to play week one? Are you sure? Are you sure you've gotten better? Hey, and you got the commanders. So we're going to find out.
Starting point is 01:07:54 You know, look, a lot of times, don't you know, hey, we all have it. We all have it. We make up our minds or something. I don't care. It might be the best thing for us. But sometimes we'll cut our nose off to spite our face. I'm going to show you.
Starting point is 01:08:09 I'm going to show you. You think I can't, you think I can't live without you? You think I can't be without you? I'm going to show you. Mm-hmm. Sometimes we can't get out of our own way, Ocho. Yeah. And then when you realize the, the gravity of the mistake that you've made, it's too late.
Starting point is 01:08:31 It's too late. We've all been there. Chat, we've all been there. We've all, hey, you know, I can, they're plenty fish. to see but as my grandmother told my aunt you might not catch him and jerry uh jerry jones had plenty to say about the biggest reason for not signing micha parsons because the cowboys needed to stop the run he also said we can win more without mika than when had we signed him so if that's the case why were you trying to sign him why was it such a big deal this handshake
Starting point is 01:09:04 deal why were you trying to get him to sign this contract see ocho if he had never offered with Micah contract, I could agree with everything that he said. Yes. Jerry also had a comeback for a reporter asking how players can get a contract extension. Ocho, take a listen to what Jerry had to say about that. Right. Jerry, Micah, 12 plus sacks in each the last four years, very productive.
Starting point is 01:09:29 For other Cowboys players coming up the line, they see how this negotiation with Micah went. How would you answer their question? Well, gee, what do I have to do to get an extension if Micah? Can't get one. Ask that. Highest paid man in the NFL. But guess what, Ocho? Yes, sir.
Starting point is 01:09:49 Did you do this deal with that or did you work with Todd friends? We're with Todd. That's all I want to know. That's all I want to know. And then I'm going to go ask that. Jerry Jones, did you work with that? Did you have a handshake deal with that Prescott? Or did you work with his representation?
Starting point is 01:10:04 Representation. You know that don't play that. Okay. You know that going to play that. absolutely not and that was first of all they couldn't agree on the years yeah and they couldn't they couldn't agree on the years so that that was that was an issue to start with that was the issue to start with at the time it was perfect Green Bay gave him four years Jerry wanted five because the more years you got
Starting point is 01:10:27 Ocho you could spread the money out that you so you kick the can the can't say y'all don't kick the can for three years then y'all have to come see me yeah because guess what the numbers are going to be so big and they're not any more guaranteed money. It's the same thing with Miles Garrett. Remember Miles Garrett said, I don't know if I can win here because he didn't have no more guaranteed money on those final two years. So he's like, man, I don't know, you know, I don't know
Starting point is 01:10:48 if the direction, they said, well, $140 million is going into the right direction. That's the direction I'm headed in. Oh, Joe, I'm headed to the bank. He, hey, he, Miles understood the business. He understood the business aspect. Not having any money guaranteed left, okay?
Starting point is 01:11:04 I got, I got to shake it up now. I got to shake it up now. I got to shake it up now. Yep, and he's the best player. He's going to be, he's probably going to be, I don't know where they are right now. They listen to Top 100, but he's probably going to be a top, he's going to be a top 10. It might even be top five. Absolutely. So he had, he had the leverage. You can't let Miles Garrett go. Although there have been a lot of teams, you know, I thought they, if Detroit, Detroit had to get him. Detroit would have had the mortgage everything, and I don't have a problem with that. Right. I'm Jake Hofer, and this is Back 40.
