Please go subscribe to their YouTube page, Debo and Joe. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. That's Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at 11, 8. Eastern time. Ocho, Judy gave the Baltimore
Starting point is 00:06:30 Raven some Bulletin board material. Oh, whoa, let's go. Between two rivals. Judy was asked by reporters, what challenges do the Raven secondary present? Judah responded, no challenges. Absolutely none. I'm just supposed to say.
Starting point is 00:06:45 What you're expecting to say? Hey, Ang, I got a question for you. And everybody gets that. I know it's early. We just starting to show. Do me a favor. Do a background check. Where are Jerry Judy from, huh?
Starting point is 00:06:54 Oh, he's from the bottom. Listen, all the challenges we had It started when we was kids We was in junior high Our circumstances, our upbringing We didn't make it to the NFL now Ain't no challenges We go out there and do what we always do
Starting point is 00:07:09 We play ball, we play football And based on what we saw From the back end With the Ravens have the offer It ain't no challenges Thank you You took the words right out of my Bob Ocho They did give up 394 pass of yards
Starting point is 00:07:23 They gave up down to 250 in the fourth quarter long. So what challenges do he see? Talk to me nice. Come on, man. Hey, this ox tail, this ox, this neck bone, this pittages, this collard greens, mac and cheese, cornbread, sweet tea.
Starting point is 00:07:41 That's what he looking at that second there. Hold on. Matter of fact, don't forget the dessert. Oh, yeah, what you want? Banana pudding, sweet potato pie. Man, ain't nothing. I'm gonna tell you, and I'm, listen, I know the game of football. I'm not a, I'm not a, I'm not a,
Starting point is 00:07:55 not a genius. I can't predict the future. But I know one thing that the Cleveland Brown do very well is they stop the run very well. They have a phenomenal front four. So I don't think, I don't see Derek Henry, you know, being able to do some of the things that he's done on most teams because the personnel, the Cleveland Browns are built to stop the run. Hey, Jerry Judy going to have a day, huh? He should.
Starting point is 00:08:18 The Raven is allowed 244 yards passing last season. That was second worst in the NFL. Come on now. Well, they're dead last right now this season. So they kind of picked up where they left off. Yes, sir. Now, I heard Kyle Hamilton say, we talked about this. I heard Marlon Humphrey said, you know, our mentality is not where it needs to be.
Starting point is 00:08:37 So Jerry Judy's looking like, what challenges? Did y'all see this Sunday night? Josh kept, first of all, the quarterback had all day to throw. Second of all, he gave up two, I mean, they average 244 game. They gave up $250 in the fourth quarter alone. Hmm. Nasty work. So I don't know why. I mean, look, we think the Baltimore Ravens is only one game. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:00 But their past defense leads a lot to be desired. This notion that you cannot throw the ball on them is just not true. Y'all might be talking about the Ravens offense. Now, if you had asked Miles Garrett or you to ask Denzel Ward, what problems do that offense pose? They might have a different response. Right. Because you got to deal with Lamar Jackson. you got to deal with a Deg Henry and you got Zay Flowers.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Okay, that's a whole different issue. But defensively, the Baltimore, that's not the 2000 Ravens. That's not Rod Wilson. That's not Ray Lewis. That's not a Syracuse, rest of your soul. That's not big saying, Rob Burnett, Peter Bowler, where? That's not, Mike McQuarrie. That's not them.
Starting point is 00:09:46 As a fact, they haven't been that for a while. Their identity is not even on the defensive side of the ball anymore. Now they have some good players. They have players that make really good plays at times. But the identity for the Baltimore Ravens is now shifted to the offense. Correct. That running back, that quarterback, that special quarterback that they do have. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Jerry Judy said exactly what he's supposed to say. What you want him to say? Oh, yes, they pulled a challenge. No, absolutely not. He's not a back. Jerry Judy is not a quarterback. He's not going to say all the right things. He's not going to be politically correct when you ask him a specific question about a position on his
Starting point is 00:10:21 opponent the next uh upcoming sunday that's not what he does come on now i mean i would like to say oh but y'all want me to lie and send my soul to hell for something trivial is that i'll go to hell because i lied and say oh yeah they pose a problem they can get after your quarterback and josh allott he doesn't call his wife on the phone say hey babe you know i'm gonna be run a little late so go ahead and give me some of that general joe chicken some of that moo moo gal pan and uh uh uh uh uh that shrimp fried rice get get that for me i'll be home Babe, I thought you was at the game. Ah, yeah, baby, I'm just back here chilling.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I mean, they ain't, they ain't even close to me yet. Yeah. Yeah, come on now. Look, we think the Ravens, Ocho, we think the Ravens, when it's all said, done, they're going to be one of the teams in the FC. We believe there'll be one of the team that makes the playoffs. But you ask him a question after he just watched the team come back with almost four minutes left, down by 15.
Starting point is 00:11:16 They didn't come back down by 15 under four minutes to go. running the football by a running the football yeah yeah the team threw it yeah so hold on hold on hold on how many points they scored in four minutes they scored six they scored they scored down 15 so they scored like it's going to 22 points in the second quarter in the fourth quarter alone yeah and hold on 28 in the second half hold on did they do that by running the ball or throwing it okay okay I make sure we get this right how many yards did josh allen throw for in the fourth quarter he threw for more than 200 now they gave up 244 per game which was second worse in the NFL yeah yeah that's what we know that is that is not conjecture that's not in you
Starting point is 00:12:00 and know that's not speculation that is factual information and then then people argue people were arguing well they were playing the bills they were playing the bills they were playing the bills they gave up an average of 244.1 last year every game they played wasn't the bills exactly there we go can close can close I wish I had a gavel real quick and and if that was the case Kyle Hamilton wouldn't say we talked about this all off season we talked about that coming into the season what are you talking about being able to get off the field being able to stop the pass right that's what you talked about Marlon Humphrey talked about the mentality so I'm I see people in the chat talk about some I
Starting point is 00:12:46 I know you ain't talking about the Raven defense when the Bangal defense, sorry. 251. We'll address that at an appropriate time. Right now we deal with you. See, I don't go, hey, Ocho, I don't go to a cancer convention and talk about what about diabetes? When I go to that diabetes convention, I'll talk about diabetes. Right now. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah. We had the American Cancer Society. So I'm going to deal with the cancers. I'm going to deal with prostate and bladder and all those other types of cancer. Come on, chat. y'all know how we do we be fair with this even though a lot of times you don't like what ocho and i might have to say we try to be as fair as possible y'all know the raven's defense isn't very good you know it but but again but again i'm giving every team grace i'm giving every team grace
Starting point is 00:13:34 because it's week one as the season goes on as the season progresses team jell a little bit the chemistry in which they play yes the cohesiveness of defenses yeah we'll get better as well as offenses. So, listen, I'm basing everything, what you're saying, Jerry Judy and his comments saying that he had no challenge is based on what he saw last week. That's it. The proof
Starting point is 00:13:57 is in the pudding also based on what the Ravens gave up defensively last year. Correct. Correct. That is correct. That is correct. So with that being said, I don't think, you know, look, I get it. Everybody say, you know, you be politically correct. You don't give anybody any extra
Starting point is 00:14:12 motivation. So let me get this straight. If I don't say anything, they're going to forfeit the game and give us the win. So whether I say a little or a lot, we still got a damn play. Yeah, yeah, well, definitely. So Jerry Judy, now he just goes out there, do, do, uh, does what he does. And, but they need to generate more pressure than what they generated on Josh Allen. Now, it's different maybe because you're, you're scared to, because if you, you run past Josh Allen, you don't jump out of the window, he's gone at the back though, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:44 You're not worried about that with Joe Flacco. So there's a good chance they'll probably bring more pressure on Flacko than they would with Josh Allen because you don't want to want to run the risk of Josh Allen, you know, putting on his high stepping shoes and getting up out of there on you. So I think that's more, you know, they pose two different types of situations. It's the same way with Lamar, you know, I want to put pressure on Lamar because I don't want him have time, but I already know if I run past him, he's gone. And the last thing I want to have do is four, five guys running down field with their back to Lamar Jackson, and he got the ball took, and he's already past the line of scrimmage. So it's going to be very, very interesting to see how this thing plays out. Look, there's no love loss. The Ravens are the old Cleveland Browns.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Yeah. And now we got the new Cleveland Browns, and there's no love loss between these two organizations. Obviously, Mr. Modell, when he left, he took the Ravens, they became the Baltimore Ravens. And this is where we are right now. We got a very, very special guest joining us. Here he is, Pro Bowler, All-Pro Super Bowl champion, a many, many-year event with the Tabal Bay Buccaneers. Here he is. Levante, how you doing, bro?
Starting point is 00:16:00 What's up, everybody? Daniel Jeremiah here. And I'm Bucky Brooks. Listen to the NFL fantasy football podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Simone Boys, host of the Brightside podcast, and on this week's episode, I'm talking to Olympian, World Cup champion, and podcast. podcast host, Ashlyn Harris. My worth is not wrapped up in how many things I've won. Because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was over, I got the blues. And I was like, this is it.
Starting point is 00:20:27 For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey. It's the people. It's the failures. It's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, what's up, what's up, fellas. How y'all doing, man?
Starting point is 00:20:48 What they do, twin? What's good, man? You know, if I had your hands, I'd cut mine off, man. That's about it. Lomante, that was a very tough game you guys have. You go down there, you take the lead, and now all of a sudden you get Atlanta coming back the other way. You're like, damn, we cannot give up a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:21:06 We can't give up a touchdown. At worst-case scenario, we go into overtime, but we are not about to lose this game in real. So when you come on the field in a situation like that, you know the only thing that can beat you is a touchdown. What is your thought process? Yeah, man, I think the whole thing is just like I don't want to be in us like to piggyback on what you were saying. And we had the same situation going on in Russia. You know, when we play them at Thursday night, same situation, we go up.
Starting point is 00:21:32 They need a field goal at that moment. And then like at the same thing, man, we don't want to give them a touchdown. We don't want to get him a touchdown. At worst, we can make a kick a field goal and go to overtime. We like our chances. But in that moment, man, all I just try to say is, man, stay calm. You know what I'm saying? Stay calm.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And somebody just got to make a play at the end of the day. You know what I'm saying? Like, we don't want to give up no chunks, you know, the typical stuff. Nothing cheap, nothing deep. Nothing cheap, nothing deep. You know what I'm saying? Stay focused. Keep everything in front of you.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Somebody make it get a ball and balance, you know, tackle them. Everybody got a rally and everybody just got to be on the same page, man. Like, I've been a part of a lot of situations where it happened in the other, in the other way around. So, you know what I'm saying? I don't, I hate that feeling of being part of being part of that stuff. So, you know, I feel like we got a team that kind of like understand that for the most part. So, you know, we liked our chances and we was able to do that.
Starting point is 00:22:25 You know, they took a couple shots towards the end and Atlanta in our favor. Hey, how is the state of the team right now? One thing you always want to do as a team, you want to start fast. Not only start fast, but to get a divisional win against a decision opponent early off. to get that out the way. How's the team feel it? I know you guys probably had practice day, but it being Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:22:45 How's everybody feeling? Everybody good, man. You know, I feel like everybody, you know, we got a, we had an extra day today because we played Monday night this week, so you know how to do it. Yeah, so we had a little extra day, a little easy day.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Yeah, yeah, a little easy day. Both know how to work in those easy days for us. But it was a, it was a little today, man. All we did was just kind of getting a head start on Houston. But, man, to ask you a question, you know, it's big. It's big, you know, the chatter about, you know, who's going to win a division, whatever, us or Atlanta is in the back and forth thing. But for us to get the upper hand for the first game of the year, it was real big.
Starting point is 00:23:22 You know, we know they're a tough opponent. You know, they got weapons all across the field. But for us, you know, the morale is real good. You know, everybody's healthy, everybody ready to go. Everybody's energetic. And they feel like we got a lot more wins left in us. Love, I said, let's talk about your quarterback because he's got a good. better and better and better from the first year to the second year and here he is late in the ball game
Starting point is 00:23:44 when the rubber needs to meet the role and this is how we measure quarterbacks how calm can you be under pressure when the pressure goes up can your blood pressure go down and he's answered the bell for you guys what have you seen from the the first moment that he arrived at one buck's place I don't know what you call I just said that but I don't know what you call it but I'm saying from the very first time that he's stepped foot in your building to what you see you're this product now, what is the biggest difference that you noticed in Baker Mayfield? The first thing I noticed, man, when he first came in the building, he just was like coming to a locker room that, you know, obviously was already established, you know, we had some guys
Starting point is 00:24:21 in the locker room before, and then we, we was a winning team. So he was coming in, basically saying, like, man, from my point of view, saying, like, I got some big shoes to feel, so I'm just come in and do my job and do what I'm supposed to do it and let these guys that set me in. And now, that's exactly what we did, man. The first thing we did was just told. man, all we need to do is just be yourself, you know what I'm saying, just be Baker Mayfield that we know and love, the one who just go out there and have fun like a kid, make plays when he make plays, and just do what you do, everything else to take care of itself.
Starting point is 00:24:49 And you see that, man. I love that for him, man. He'd go out there, he having fun with he just playing the game that he loved playing. Like a kid on the playground, man, that's what we want, man, you know what I'm saying, like we got his back and he knows that. And I think that's what gives him the, you know, the confidence to go out there and make the players that he makes. And like you said, man, he's been.
Starting point is 00:25:08 And the game winning drives for us, you know, past, you know, three years and then opening the season with won is real big, man. His confidence is out the roof, and, you know, he got got the guy back. Let me follow up with this one, don't you, you were on this Super Bowl team when Brady walked into the building. Brady is a very intense guy. You're going to get this is right in practice. It ain't no, okay, no, we're good.
Starting point is 00:25:32 No, we're not good. Run that issue again. Brady is the type of guy that's going to keep his foot on your nose. neck what are you what is the biggest difference between what you see from tom and what you see from baker yeah yeah that's crazy that you say that because i seen that from tom day and day out like if it ain't done right now now we're gonna get this right you're gonna get these 10 yards you're gonna run this out route the correct way you know what i'm saying and i remember like a story man you know vita used to use vita in a goal line situation and vita had to run a little flat route yeah
Starting point is 00:26:03 and he didn't get it right so him or tom was out there at the practice practice practice that's on it. Like, you know, we got to get this right. So, uh, it's like, it's crazy that you say that. But, um, different between those guys, man, you know, uh, Tom, it's a, you know, hardcore guy, very passionate, you know, about it, you know, wanting everything to be perfect. You have a few professionals. Uh, Baker just, yeah, professionalist. And, uh, Baker, you know, he just talked you through it. He'll beaker just, cool, come and collector, just talk you through it. You know, I want you to do it like this. I think this is where right here and stuff like that. So, you know, that's kind of stuff that I see. But I do love
Starting point is 00:26:38 that both of them are very passionate about the game, man. You know, Baker, like, his competitive nature comes out, you know, in practice. You see, you know, the banter back and forward, you know, practice and stuff. And then Tom was saying, way. I remember when Tom first came and he said, hey, man, don't cut me no slack. Just because y'all see me as Tom Brady, man, you know, man, treat me just like the guys in the locker room. You see me messing up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:00 And that's something that I respect it about Tom because, you know, outside looking there, I'm like, man, it's Tom Brady ain't for to say nothing. I'm going to let him. And I ain't going to pick no passes up. I ain't fit to get cut. They ain't crazy. Exactly. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:27:14 But he like, he's like, nah, man. No, he said, nah, man. We're all trying to get better here. You can make a play on the ball, make a play on the ball. I think I love Baker. Obviously, from the outside watching in and the quarterback is what he was able to do at Oklahoma. And this is a testament to where I think most time when it comes to quarterback, I think situational circumstance is very important.
Starting point is 00:27:34 He was in Cleveland, things and work out. He went to Carolina, he went to the RAM thing to work out. But coming to Tampa Bay at an organization that's coming off a Super Bowl when having time, and having a fill in and having the weapons around you, Mike Evans, Godwin, now you got Ibuka, you know, and I think things are really jelling for you guys and you guys are on the right path to probably actually having a chance not to only win the division, but maybe end up also on the long end,
Starting point is 00:28:02 in the back end, not there in San Francisco, So especially if you guys on the defensive side of the ball, what you need to do, especially for showing you guys had week one, I think if you find his offense, I think it's going to take care of his business. That addition, it got damn people. Man, he's special, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I always say, man, he reminded me coming in as a rookie.
Starting point is 00:28:24 He reminded me with Chris Gawton, when Chris Gawton came in, you know, even though Chris was in a different situation, but like just the mental factor, the maturity, you know, just him, you know, you know just picking vets out asking questions and then just being far alone than what usually more than what usually rookies you see from the rookies so i just seen mecca coming in day one working not you know putting his head down to working and grinding man and uh it's showing you know it's been it's been like that since day one since rookie minicamp i remember saying clips of them in rookie minicamp and um just seeing him doing him like dang like and i mean you know coaches
Starting point is 00:29:00 calling me like man we got something with with a meck and i'm like okay i'm my can't can't wait to see it. And so when I stepped foot out there for training camera, I'm like, yeah, this kid, he, he's for real. He's going to do some great things. Yeah, he won in the ones. You know what you say down at the crib. He won the ones. You know one and one. You know who they are. Barta, the, uh, you and Vita are basically the two mainstates. Dean is still there, but you guys are the perennial pro bowl than all pro players. What has it been like? Because now there once upon a time, you know, you were the young buck. Now you're the the state's one of that defense and you got to see you and vita vea got to see on y'all chance it's your job yeah you know bow's going to call but it's your job to make sure those ten those nine other guys are where they're supposed to be hold them guys accountable make sure nobody's trying to play he boat a hero ball we are the sum of these parts no one is greater how have you been able to embrace you and vda veaa been able to embrace this role it's been uh it's been you know at the beginning it's been challenging just trying to see how you can
Starting point is 00:30:04 you know, interact with different people, you know what I'm saying? Different people take different, you know, constructive criticism in different ways. But, you know, I feel like, which Coach Bowles, man, you know, Coach Bowles, man. He gives you the freedom, you know what I'm saying? He gives you the freedom. I'm not how you handle it.
Starting point is 00:30:18 You know what I'm saying? You do how to do what you got to do to get the guys going. And then a lot of times, even in the game time situation, it's like I tell Vita, A, you got the front end. I take care of the back end. You tell them what to do, and I got the backhand right here. Y'all control that out of front. You see something to take control over it.
Starting point is 00:30:32 If you see something in the back end, I'll take a of it, and then Bowles give us that freedom. And that's one thing that I really love about it, because, you know, he put it on his players. And then, um, then y'all got Antoine Winfield, Jr. in the back end. So y'all got three levels, you got pro-bo players at all three levels. Levels.
Starting point is 00:30:47 Exactly. And then Coach Bowles trust all us to get everything, get everybody on the same page, you get everything handled. You know, it's been like in the game the other day, you know, when, when they, um, scored a first touchdown third play, Bulls base of a, hey, y'all got it. Y'all got, y'all take care of it. You know that stuff.
Starting point is 00:31:04 like that don't happen so go ahead and take care of it and we're like yeah we got you coach and you know so that's the stuff that you know kind of brings confidence to us knowing that you know he calls defense but at any day he know y'all responsible for it i just hell i didn't call it exactly exactly it ain't my it ain't my little guy ruby to y'all go to the screen exactly so when he do stuff like that man they give us all the confidence around like you said man vita take care of the front end i take care the middle and uh antoine tweeds take care of the back end so we all got great report with each other. I have one question. Obviously, I know the season already started. You guys are coming up with W. You play Monday night, but I have one question. I want to go back
Starting point is 00:31:41 to training camp real quick. And you need a better inside. Yeah. Inside that building, is there anything that we could have done? I'm not part of the team. I'm just saying we, as just being a player in journal, is there anything that we could have done better to make sure brother Desmond, who didn't get the opportunity to play in training camp? He's not on the field now. He's not a part the team. Is there anything that you guy could have done a little better to get him in the shape? But I think he would have been a great addition defensively, especially on first and second down, being able to stop the run and just clogging that up. I'm just thinking about, you know, having him beat Avaya and you being able to roam freely, though to taking up to A and B gaps.
Starting point is 00:32:19 And if anything that could have been done, I'm curious. Yeah. You know, me, sure, me being a lineback, I love to play behind Big Boys to take up all the blockers for me. We'll start the touch push. We'll put B to Bay and Big White. Yeah. They put big that ass up in there. Y'all ain't pushing nothing. Ain't no more push. Ain't no more push. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:38 That was the whole plan behind it too. I think you put in me in some of you can start the touch push. But, man, it's just an unfortunate situation, man. Everybody loved his men in the locker room. And a lot of guys was pushing him, even though Vita was pushing, getting on the right track. But it was just unfortunate, man. He didn't, he wasn't able to meet the goal that he was supposed to meet.
Starting point is 00:32:57 And then at the end of the day, I think it was more of a medical. They were concerned, yeah, that's what I told Ocho. Medical concern type thing, yeah, medical type thing that was going on. I don't know the full of details, but, you know, everybody, you know, love it. There's, man. He was working his foot off to get there. I'll tell you, I'll tell you that. I see him every day just grinding, grind and grind and grind and trying to get out there.
Starting point is 00:33:18 And, you know, he hopefully, God gives him another chance to be able to take the opportunity. And I think he's going to seize it once he do get that opportunity. I hope they told him, say, look, hey, we'll give you another chance next year. But we need you down. we need you down under 420 and we can work with you. You're still, you know, 450, that's a lot of, people don't realize how, think about it. Vita Vaya is 3. Chat, y'all see how big Vita Vaya is.
Starting point is 00:33:42 He's 100 pounds heavier than Bida Vaya. Yeah. So let that sink in. He's 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, zero, bigger than Bita Vaya. Right. So, and that's what I was telling, Ocho. I said, no, it's a medical, it's a medical issue now. Because the last thing you want to happen to somebody, because everybody's saying, y'all know that he was too big to be out there, not hot, son, in Tampa. See, yeah. Yeah, I'll say you got a lawsuit on your hands and Tampa and the NFL don't want to deal with that. So I told, look, we had him on the show Ocho and now, we interviewed him and he said, man, I'll do whatever it takes in order to make a roster to, you know, let my dream, you know, live out my dream. But like you said, it just wasn't into cards now. Not to say maybe a year from now, he gets a whole,
Starting point is 00:34:28 He gets a whole year. Hey, I'm going down to the Duke Clinic. I'm going to go down and say, man, what y'all got for me, man? I'm going down. Hey, I got to get this up off me because I don't care if I don't play but one snap. I want my mom, my grandma, want my family to see me in an NFL uniform in an NFL game one time. That might be all of this in the car. Bonte, everybody ain't going to have a 10, 15, 20 year career.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Sometimes it might be a game. Sometimes it might be six games. Sometimes it might be a year. But my mom, my family is going to see me with an NFL uniform in a real NFL game. Yeah. Like Luther used to say, if it's only for one night, if it's only for one game. Yeah. I agree with you wholeheartedly, man.
Starting point is 00:35:12 And he's from around the way. He went to, I believe he went to the onward. Yeah. So he was from around the area. So, you know, he has to have friends and family come to the president and stuff like that. So I just saw it in him, too, man. Like, he was real, like, you could tell he was hurt by. Yes, of course.
Starting point is 00:35:26 He was real hurt by, you know what I'm saying? because, you know, he's back home, playing for, you know, probably a childhood team that he grew up moving for, and just to be able to, you know, be, you know, in the NFL locker room, man, and just make a dream come true, man.
Starting point is 00:35:39 I'm sure eventually it happened for him, man, but like you said, man, just wasn't the right time for him right now. And that's the thing, because think about it, if somebody like, we were so poor, we grew up, we used to go to the fast food restaurant to watch other people eat.
Starting point is 00:35:51 We could, I do it. We just, we just, you know what I'm saying about that? We just watch other people. Yeah. That's him. Yeah. He, okay,
Starting point is 00:35:56 He's undrafted, but here he is. He got a uniform on and everything, but he can't practice. He can't participate. You remember when you used to go, hey, you ain't going outside. You ain't do what you're supposed to, and you watch the kids. You're watching the kids through the window play. Or you're on people. You get 20 minutes at school, and you're watching all the other kids play,
Starting point is 00:36:13 and you just look it out. Just like that. Trying to make your parents feel bad for you. Can I go out now? Boy, don't you ask me, can you go out there no more? It's a. It's age. To get back on track, obviously, week two, Monday night against Houston, Texans.
Starting point is 00:36:32 I'm not sure if you watch film or not, but if you have, what challenges do you see from CJ's brown and that offense that you guys have to be worried about? Oh, man, CJ getting the ball out quick, man. He getting the ball out quick. He getting him to his playmakers. They're using Dawn Shores a lot. Nico, obviously, playmaker, man, somebody who you got to watch out for. I remember a couple years ago, man, we played CJ his rick.
Starting point is 00:36:56 and he lit us up, you know what I'm saying? So we already know what he's capable of. And then they got Nick Chub and backfield, you know what I'm saying? A proven vet, you know, a hard runner, you know, could hurt you any way, you know what I'm saying? So for us, man, it's just all about discipline. When you're playing guys like this, football teams like this, they run stuff to, you know, to try to get you out of position to make you hurt yourself. So you just got to be able to stay disciplined and stay on track for four quarters.
Starting point is 00:37:24 And, you know, you tell it like the defense, man, these type of games you want to play. You know what it's going to be. You just got to be able to stop it. Bonte, you play it against, you know, look, you've been in the league down near a decade. Now, how long have you been in the league? What is it your 10th year? No, this is 14 for me. Wow.
Starting point is 00:37:39 Oh, whoa, wow. God, damn, what? 14. Hold on, you moving like, hold on, you moving like this a year 14? Yeah, this is 14 for me. God been blessing me, man. Bro, I thought it was, I thought it was 10. I was like, oh, man, he's moving like that.
Starting point is 00:37:53 But it just goes. show you and you played against a lot of different backs who's some of the toughest backs who's some of the you know tight ends because really you're known as a coverage linebacker which aren't very many of those most guys you either rush to plaster or you stop the run you're really known as a coverage linebacker yes you're a sure tackler but you're known as a coverage linebacker who some of the better tight ends that you face obviously you did an outstanding job dealing with kelsey in the super bowl but the running backs that you had to face Yeah, running backs, man.
Starting point is 00:38:27 I remember Marchion was a tough, tough to go against. And then in my division, man, I had Darren Sproles for the first couple of years. That was a headache. That was a headache. Oh, man. And then, you know, obviously coming along, you know, I had go against Christian McCaffrey and AK A.K. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:48 Those two dudes of headaches, man. And when I first came in, the dream, I was always to play against Reggie Bush, you know, and I got a chance to play with a play against my second year where he was in Detroit. That was cool. Frank, Frankie G. was ahead. Man, a lot of guys, like, when you, when you're going against these dudes,
Starting point is 00:39:10 you kind of like, you give them their respect. And then when you're playing them, you know, like, okay, I respect you, but, you know, it is what it is. We're about to play. But, like, you're like, oh, I understand. You understand why you're just. These dudes, you know what I'm saying? Like, Frank, man, one thing.
Starting point is 00:39:24 And see, if I was a defensive player and I played against a great, I'll run it back, I'm gonna tackle him and throw his leg. Get your ass on. Like, a lot of people used to always say about Frank. Like, he wasn't that big, but he ran behind his head.
Starting point is 00:39:39 You know what I'm saying? Like, that was like, that was something I had to kind of like get accustomed to and stuff like that. I had to get up on them a little bit. But Marshawn was a tough to go against, Marshawn was a guy who like, when you hit him and you like, you think you got a good hit
Starting point is 00:39:55 on him and you're talking trash to him, like, oh, yeah, come on. Like, he gets more excited than, like, like, dang, like, I'm thinking I'm supposed to be, you know, like, break you down a little bit, but nah, he won't, he won't more. You play King Harry yet? I play King Harry, man. King Harry is a different animal, you know what I'm saying? He's a dude who like, you don't know what to expect, man. You don't know what to expect because, like, he's a big dude and you want him to kind of like
Starting point is 00:40:19 drop it on you, but you prepare for that. But then he got these little swift, little moves and stuff for him and stuff like that. They got good feet, good feet for a big guy. David Montgomery is somebody who I got a lot of respect for in Detroit, who's a big guy but got wonderful feet. Who else out there, man? Obviously, Jamir Gibbs, these young dudes, man, taking over the game. See, I think it's bad with Henry get people because nobody wants to square him up.
Starting point is 00:40:44 So everybody wants to get to the side. And so now he mushing you in your face and on your head. to the ground because I really ain't trying to, look, bro, you got it. Six, three, two, 50. You go, yeah, okay. And move and move and moving the way you're moving to is kind of like, I'm not trying to get no concussion. The best thing you can do with 22, man, you got to catch him going east and west
Starting point is 00:41:08 because you get, you catch him going north. But the problem that they don't make, they don't figure it out. He's really not an offset eye back. He's an old school eye bat with a full. or you put a tight end in that spot, you toss it to him and say, hey, you pick your hole. You, A, C, whatever you want to do, you pick it. Now you let him, because he's not, you know, like Jemir Gibbs, you can put him in the offset eye. You can put him in the offset and run his own read with him.
Starting point is 00:41:35 That's not what Derek Henry is. Derek Henry is an old school 70, 80s, eye back. Yeah. You toss it to him, you hand it to him and say, son, find your hole. Let me get you out of here on this one, Abonte. 14 years, how much longer do you want to play? And then when you go up in there and you see Leroy Selman, you see Derek Brooks, you see Warren Sapp,
Starting point is 00:41:58 you see some of the greats up in there, number that's in that stadium. And you think like, damn, one day that's going to be your boy, your boy is going to be up in there. Yeah, man, it's incredible, man, just because like this year is the 50th season of the organization. So we're honoring a lot of guys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:18 So we're honoring a lot of guys that play through the organization. And then, like, when you break it down and they show all the people, you just be like, like, dang, he, like, this guy, this guy. And, like, for me, you know, I take it all in because I'm basically following these guys' footsteps. I know what these guys been through. And see these guys come back and, you know, like, come through and show love like that. Stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:42:38 It's pretty cool, man, especially DB. D.B. always coming back. Yeah, Brooks is right there. Yeah. That's my god darned Bruce, man. You're a great guy. Yeah. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Y'all have very similar games, too, Bonte. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, shoot, when I first got hit out, the first person, they'd say, hey, you got to live up the 55 legacy. I'm like, but the thing I like about DB, man, the first time I, when soon as I got drafted, and soon as I got the Tampa, man, he hit me up. Hey, let's go have lunch.
Starting point is 00:43:07 You know what I'm saying? I wasn't expecting that. You know what I'm saying? So when we had our little lunch, you told me, man, I know a lot of people kind of like expecting you to do this and that, but, man, I'm going to tell you like this, man, Just be yourself, bro. And be yourself and let everything else take care of itself.
Starting point is 00:43:20 You know who you are as a football player. And once you be yourself, everything to take care of yourself. And then he made me pay for that. So you're 14. Are you going to play? Look, because there is no senior circuit for the NFL. Because once this thing over and you're never going to be able to find what you left in that locker room. Those practices, the locker room, the plane rides, the bus ride.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Yeah. How much long? How much longer you got? How much longer do you want to play? Man, yeah. To be honest with you, man, I thought I was done two years ago. You know, when we played a Detroit and divisional game, you know, that was a long season. And, you know, I ain't never felt like that for a season in my whole entire career.
Starting point is 00:44:01 You know, I was hurting, you know, body tired, exhausted. And then, you know, out of nowhere, you know, I got to extra boost the energy. So I ended up coming back for year 13. And then, you know, this past year, I was done with a little something, you know, injury-wise. try to see how I felt. And then so behold, you know, good Lord bless me. He started feeling good. And I was like, okay, I'll give it another try.
Starting point is 00:44:23 So, you know, right now, man, I'm just taking in a moment, bro. I'm taking in the moment, man. You know, I love the game of football. I'm not just, I just don't play the game. Like, actually genuinely love the game. I'm a fan of football. So, like, just to be around of it, be around it, you know, the relationship that I can deal with it, you know, I'm just trying to do that to the best of my ability.
Starting point is 00:44:43 But, you know, I'm going to just see how this year go. and go from there, you know what I'm saying? It's been the real, you know, definitely enjoyable ride, man. But, like my coach, football always say, man, hey, your retirement life longer than your football. It better believe that. Hey, you know, LeBonte, you know, that contract extension, all of a sudden,
Starting point is 00:45:04 you know, I don't hurt as much. You know what I don't know, you get that contract. You get that contract. You feel much better. Exactly. You feel much better. Yeah. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:45:13 That too. As a matter of fact, since we talk about, longevity. If you got portion in at this point, if you're feeling good right now, get it even, get pitching. Hold on. I can, I can extend your career another five. I can get you to 20. I can get to the 20. I have a nutritional program I can put you on. Oh, Lord. Here you go with that Matt Don't know. Week to week, week, I can extend your career another five years, make sure there's no injuries. And you know, you get 20 and just give me the credit. $20 a week, that ain't nothing, you know. And I got you.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Just let me know. Ocho, I ain't, I ain't 21, 22 no more, man. That stuff sticks. No, no, no. Thank you. Thank you. It's not going to stick. I got a healthy bad, a healthy medium of two different things.
Starting point is 00:45:57 You don't. Listen, listen to me, I do it in three cycles. In the cycles, the beginning of the season, the season, and then the back end of the season. And, man, before you know, you look up, you'll be in year 21. He doing three cycles. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hey, y'all play Monday in Tampa? and Houston.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Damn, man. Y'all started to see them both games on the road, huh? Yeah, both on the road, man. Two tough opponents. When the next home game? The week after that, we played Jets, week three. Man, that's your boy, get a ticket. I drive three hours from Miami.
Starting point is 00:46:32 I just need one. You know, I got you. Appreciate that, Tuan. Appreciate it. Yeah. Man, LaVarte, thanks for stopping by me. Give us a few moments of your time. Continue success.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Best of luck. Stay healthy. And, guys, when you guys go where you guys go, where you think you're going to go, stop back by and tell us how you did it. Yes, sir. Appreciate you guys, man. God bless you.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Appreciate your guys. Thank you. Sir. Levante, David, the outstanding all-pro linebacker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Damn time flying. I had no idea of my man been in the league.
Starting point is 00:47:02 I ain't know a 14, boy. Hell, nah. Hell, I thought it wasn't what you called. I thought it was a decade. You know how long 14 is, as a linebacker? Yeah. As a linebacker?
Starting point is 00:47:12 I mean, you know what, guys, you know what, Ocho? I think the thing is because guys are not hitting like they did. You know, Ray played 17. Say I'll play 20. Clay Matthews played like 18, 19. But I think now, Ocho, because guys are not hitting in practice like we used to do. Right.
Starting point is 00:47:30 Outside of the games. Right. And they're taking care of the guys in training camp. Right. He probably, you know, I'm saying the training camp now, the old guys used to have the afternoons off. So, you know, you played, you know, you put scrimmed, practice in the morning. And then you took the afternoon off. You got your little cardio in and things.
Starting point is 00:47:45 like that. So guys are doing a better job of preserving themselves. And now they got they got cryo, they got laser therapy, they got PT, they got Ocho. Matter of fact, I'm glad you just said that. When the last time you've been inside the Broncos facility? Oh, it's been a minute. I went inside the Bangal facility when I was there Thursday night for the practice. Yeah. They got everything. Yeah. Oh yeah. They got when it when it comes to recovery and taking care of your body, They got everything now. So I can see why some of the player can be able to play as long as they have and continue their career.
Starting point is 00:48:22 If Sayout got 20 and I think Derrick Brooks play out, Derek Brooks played long. I don't think Brooks had played as long as Ray. Ray had got 17. Levante could definitely get 20, man. He can definitely get 20. If he ain't 14. I don't know about 20.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Look, I'm thinking 15. I said, let me get, let me get out of this scene. Let me get out of 14, Ochoa. Did I recalibrate the 15? Because, you know, that's, you know, 17 games and he tackling he hitting people yeah so you know he's sore after every game his shoulders his back his knees man but uh it was good to have him all these unbelievable unbelievable uh I'm glad he was able to stop by and talk about some of the things and uh
Starting point is 00:49:03 but what like you and I talked about Ocho with big days it's a medical issue it is it is what it is what it is and you know you're going to err on the side of caution yeah I listen the first thing I thought about to, when I saw him continue working on the sideline, just walking and not actually practicing. The first thing that came to mind was Corey Stringer. The first thing I came to mind was Corey Stringer and them not want to be liable for anything that happens to him if he's on the field. But then in his case, I think about what hell he just did. He just did his time at Florida at that weight, at that size, and still played and contributed. But I kind of understand with the NFL and the Timberian Buccaneers, didn't want to be liable if anything happened to him
Starting point is 00:49:44 at the weight he was. Yeah, yeah. Because they figure NFL got deeper pockets than colleges. So they're going to put that tax on you. Yes, sir. What's up, everybody? Daniel Jeremiah here. And I'm Bucky Brooks.
Starting point is 00:49:56 On Move the Sticks, we take you inside the game from scouting reports and player development to team building philosophies, coaching trends, and how front offices construct winning rosters. Every week, we study the tape, talk to decision makers, and share the insights you won't find anywhere else. It's the kind of conversation
Starting point is 00:50:13 that connects the dots from college football prospects to the NFL stars of tomorrow. My worth is not wrapped up in how many things I've won. Because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was over, I got the blues, and I was like, this is it.
Starting point is 00:54:20 For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey. It's the people. It's the failures. It's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Also, former number one overall draft pick, Jadavia and Clowny visited the Cowboys today with
Starting point is 00:54:43 the Cowboys traded Michael Parsons to the Packers. Jerry Jones is entertaining the 2014 number one overall draft pick, Janavian Clowny, as a possible edge rush to help the defense. Brian Shottonheimer, who coached Clowny with the Seahawks. This is something we've been monitoring every position. Again, I feel great about our defensive line. But anytime you have a chance to potentially add a football, good football players, why wouldn't you kick the tires?
Starting point is 00:55:07 Ocho, would Janadio and Clowney help? Absolutely, absolutely. Absolutely will. Listen, to Davey on Clowny is going to get after your quarterback. The Daveyon Clowny is good against the run. He's a disruptor. He can add some help. He's not Michael Parsons. He's not that. But he can add an addition on that offensive line coming in similar to maybe not all three downs, but coming in on third downs. Yeah. And rotate that defense line and keep everybody fresh.
Starting point is 00:55:40 I'm not sure why they didn't sign him yet. I'm not sure. where they're waiting on he should be able before week four before week happens before week four happens he should be on that field yeah i just me personally um watching him obviously went to the university south Carolina where my brother went so obviously i had a little best in interest because i still root for the game cause even though i didn't play there my brother played there um i just don't think that jadavian county ever lived up to what we thought he was going to be if you go back and look at his sophomore year ohcho yeah yeah yeah that A, that Michigan game?
Starting point is 00:56:15 Man, what he was doing, he was really ripping people's necks off and pooping down in the throat. Yeah. I was like, well, what is this? We had never seen somebody like that. Yeah. I mean, he was violent.
Starting point is 00:56:26 And that's what you, when I look, when I'm looking about a defensive player, Ocho Special, defensive lineman or linebacker, I won't violence. Yes. I want somebody that's going to strike and be, and not be, and not be ashamed of like, yeah, my job is, this is my job is to,
Starting point is 00:56:43 punish you. Yes, sir. And I just, when I look at him, I was like, bro, the guy, I mean, look how big he was. Look at the 40 times that he ran. Look at his first step. Look at his short shuttle. I mean, he could do it all. I mean, tremendous first step. You know who I thought he was going to be like? I see, this is the second come of Javon Curse. That's who I thought he was going to be like. That's a good one. Listen, there's not very many that have been like the freak. But again, what we saw from him in college, we expected to see it. He was good, but he wasn't great. I'm not sure what his injury history looks like,
Starting point is 00:57:15 but I do know some of the times he showed flashes of brilliance. Yes, yes. He's a great, great disruptor, and I know he can get out to the quarterback. He has a great motor, great energy, and I think he'd be a great addition to the Dallas Cowboys. I'm not sure. Once he came in, there shouldn't have been no watching practice.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Hell, he should have been in practice. Yes. He should have been in practice. So I'm excited for him. It's a great addition for the Cowboys and that defense, and they need it because the first game we saw them play. they got no pressure no they got no goddamn pressure they didn't at all uh and and the thing you think about the ocho who was he playing beside j j wott j j wott yeah j j wott is a defensive player
Starting point is 00:57:58 of the year so that means i'm getting one-on-one i wish you would i wish you would slide that protection of 99 and leave me one-on-one one yeah if can you imagine If look how, look what, what, uh, how Aaron Donald was when, when Vaughn, he was already Aaron Donald and then you put Vaughn Miller and you put Leonard Floyd outside of him. You remember what he looked like? Yeah. That's what, that's what Jadabian Kline was supposed to be. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:28 When you got a hellraiser on one side. Mm-hmm. You best believe I'm kicking ass and taking, taking name. You ask. You know, ass. Kick this ass too. Loveguard. Kick your ass.
Starting point is 00:58:41 sinner back out of bound yes that's how that that's that's that's the mentality well i wish i wish i would double rod i dare you i double dog dare you yeah to double somebody else other than me right and think i'm not good but in matter of fact honestly you got to take something like that personal you have to take something like that personal saying oh you're going to fly protection opposite weight because you think there's a dog on the other side yes you're leaving me one-on-one you You disrespected me. You said, oh, we ain't got to worry about him. Okay. Basically, basically. I tell you what, by third quarter, hey, now JJ by the E, because y'all got to bring
Starting point is 00:59:23 that, y'all got to bring that, y'all got to bring this left tackle. Y'all got to bring some help, because I'm, I'm going to tell his ass up. And, and look, we don't know. Obviously, he's not the, he's still not that he's not the explosive player he wants. Nobody is. I mean, this is, this is be his 12th year in league. He can't. came in in 2014. So we look at a guy that'll be 12 years deep, obviously. But yeah, he had moments, but I expected, I expected him to be a perennial pro bowl player, a perennial all pro. He had defensive player of the year potential. That's what I was expecting of him. He's the overall overall draft pick. Number one overall draft pick as a defensive lap. Oh, yeah, you got to be
Starting point is 01:00:03 Miles Garrett. Yeah. That's the number one overall draft pick of the defensive lineman. Right. Bruce Smith. That's the number one draft pick as an overall draft pick as an overall as a defensive line. That's what I'm expecting. I don't think I'm expecting too much. And I know everybody can't beat. I think Bruce was a two-time defensive player a year. Miles has already won one.
Starting point is 01:00:23 But when you're the number one overall player, yeah. Those are the expectations that people have for you. And like I said, he had a good career. And but I think he left some stuff on the table of Joe. Yes, I do. I do. Cowboys all pro quarterback Deron Bland suffered a foot injury during practice on Monday.
Starting point is 01:00:49 That could result in him missing a couple of weeks. Bland recently signed four-year extension, $92 million. According to Clarence Hill, Blan is out at least two weeks. He missed time last season with a left foot fracture. Trayvon Diggs is already, is not ready for a full load. He played 27 snaps against the Eagles. Ocho, is it time for them to call Gilly, Stefan Gilmore? Yeah, yeah, I think you should.
Starting point is 01:01:16 Listen, the Colts call Xavier Howard. You bring in a veteran, a veteran presence, a very savvy veteran at that. Like Stefan Gilmore, he's ready. I had the wide receiver workshop during the offseason. Gilmore came out there to watch some of the receivers. And we talked for a little bit. He's saying he was keeping himself in shape
Starting point is 01:01:31 if the right situation presented itself. He would welcome a comeback. So I think that's something that they should do. again, I'm not sure why Jerry's not on the phone, knowing that Bland is going to be out two weeks. And I think they probably have some type of belief in whoever Bland's backup may be where they haven't called a veteran presence to come in.
Starting point is 01:01:48 So I think they're thinking like, okay, well, listen, two weeks, we can roll with someone else that we already have here that is the backup and see if we can do things to kind of protect him. If he's the fish, if that person that is the backup is the weak link, we can hide that for a little bit.
Starting point is 01:02:02 We can hide that for two weeks until Bland gets back. Well, I think the thing is, if you're going to hide him, that means y'all defensive line need to get pressure. That's the best way to hide his ass on, Joe. The quarterback don't have time to sit his back foot and throw the ball or somebody hitting him in the back of his head. That's what you're looking for.
Starting point is 01:02:19 That's what you're trying to accomplish if you're trying to hide the thing. Because look, I don't, I didn't think they had great. I think they got guys, if I'm not mistaken, I think DeRond Blan was a wide receiver and they switched it to DB in college. That would be him and Trayvon Diggs. Trayvon Digg, Trayvon Diggs with Alabama as a Y receiver. And Coach Savin said, I think,
Starting point is 01:02:40 but you got to think, look at all the receivers that was over there. Yeah, son, I think you'd be better on the other side of the ball. On the other side of the ball. And he's parlayed that into one of the better defensive back. Great clue skills. He's a gambler.
Starting point is 01:02:54 Got a lot of T. Buck, a lot of tendencies. T. Buck used to always say, they got, hey, they got more slants and stop routes than they got nine routes. So I would take my chances. And he would. But I agree with you. I think you have to look at Gilly. I don't know how much Gilly has left in the tank.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Clearly, he's not the defensive player of the year, Stefan Gilmore. Nobody expects that. Right. But is he better than the guy that you could potentially call up or you could potentially slide in that slot? Yes. That's the question that Jerry and the coaching staff and the hire of the brass, those are the decisions that they would need to make.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. Despite beating the Jets, it wasn't a particularly good day for the Pittsburgh offensive line, especially left tackle Broderick Jones, who was responsible for three of the four sacks on Rogers. Well, Aaron defended Jones today and actually blamed himself for some of the sacks he took, siding back tightness that kept him from being more elusive. I don't think I was moving that well, so I think I kind of ran into at least one or two of those sacks. So I got to do a better job of using my legs. You know, I might be old, but I still feel like I could move around pretty good.
Starting point is 01:04:02 I wasn't moving the way I usually moved. I thought the protection was good for the most of the game. There were a couple of fundamental things to clean up. I just got to get the ball out. That's the thing, Aaron. You heard what he said on, Cho? Yeah. He said he would think he couldn't, that's it.
Starting point is 01:04:18 That's what happens when you get old. You think in your mind you could do all these things? But you can't. And then obviously, the officer line has to help him a little bit. They have to help him a little bit. And Aaron has to have that clock. That clock has to go off in your head. If you don't have the skill set with the lower extremity,
Starting point is 01:04:36 being able to move the way you used to, you got to be able to process that information a little bit faster and get the ball out. Yeah, you do. And I think the thing is that he does have a quick release. And sometimes he dog sacks because he can get the, but that's the thing. He doesn't have the legs.
Starting point is 01:04:51 He's 41. He doesn't have the legs that he once had. And that's what made him so unique. That's why, you know, people look at him as one of the greatest throwers of the football because of the arm platform, but his ability to throw the ball on the move. Yeah, there have been very few guys in NFL history that's been able to throw the ball on the move as well as Aaron Rogers or throw the ball from the pocket as well as Aaron Rogers the arm slots the angles and he had he had good legs. He wasn't Lamar Jackson, but he didn't need to be. Right. But that arm, he has superior arm talent. Yeah, with his with his mind.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Yeah, man, it was it was to just watch him. Like I said, I went to the Super Bowl that they beat. the uh beat the uh pit's bird oh cho and i was standing on the sideline and i'm watching this guy warm up i said he that's the greatest throw of the football i've ever seen and i saw joe throw the ball i saw joe montana throw the football i saw dam merino throw the football i saw elway throw the football i saw warren moon throw the football i say that guy what i just saw in my 14 years of playing in the nfl and my all my years of playing in the nfl and all my years of covering the NFL, I've never seen anybody throw the football.
Starting point is 01:06:06 Listen, he got the ultimate stamp of all time. When Tom Brady comes out and says, Aaron Roder is the greatest store of the football that he's ever seen or every witness or watch play, then it is exactly what it is. You got to see it. Yeah, no matter how you feel about him, no matter how he looks now,
Starting point is 01:06:24 he's still the greatest store of the football. And then when you get flashes of the brilliance that we're used to seeing, and he brings that to the Steelers, he gives you a great chance to win. And what they've done defensively, what they, but they don't,
Starting point is 01:06:38 they didn't board in Jabrilla Preppers. They didn't vote in Gibral Prepar's. You got Darishly, you got Jalen Ramsey. I mean, you got Patrick, man, they're going to be all right. You got TJ while, you got Cam. Come on now. Some things you have to see for yourself
Starting point is 01:06:53 because TV doesn't do it justice. Like they say, you know, watching hockey is better if you watch it in person than you watch it on television. Football is better if you watch it in person, that you watch it on television. Some things you have to actually see for yourself. Right.
Starting point is 01:07:07 In order to get an appreciation and me being a student of the game, me being around the game, and to see him throw the football, I thought the same. When I saw Barry run, I'd never seen nobody run like that. When you see Jerry run routes and then catch the football and the effortlessness that Jerry ran with and the precision in which he got in and out of breaks.
Starting point is 01:07:34 Right. Like, damn. That's what you think when you see Aaron throw the football. That's what I saw him throw the football. I'm like, I mean, I'm talking about just the flick of the wrist and the ball is just, I'm talking about it ain't no wobble. I mean, everything is just tight. I'm just like up and over.
Starting point is 01:07:52 Yeah, and the funny thing about it is too, as great as great of a throw of the football Aaron is, the way he throws the ball and his mechanics, or you can't don't teach it doesn't go hand in hand no hell no no hand his feet's all over the place yeah he's all over the place he does everything because his arm his arm his arm talent and arm strength so gifted man through the football yeah yeah it is that you can't teach that you can't teach that you can't teach that Xavier worthy left the chief's week one game due to a dislocated shoulder and injuring the chief third offensive player in Brazil he was running across and paddle over the middle
Starting point is 01:08:29 and he and Travis Kelsey ran directly into each other. Kelsey took the blame for what happened on New Heights. I'm supposed to be running my route at Delta for Worthy. So it's frustrating. I was trying to set up the guy to be able to get into position and then it just happened pretty quick. I just got to be better. Man, I'm 13 years in league.
Starting point is 01:08:48 There's no excuse for me running into my own guy like that. Don't Joe? Yeah. What do we say? Yeah, listen, he was supposed to be at 7 to 9 and Worthy was supposed to be coming underneath that. But you got to remember, the pressure, the collision. When you write X's nose, you got to remember there's somebody else.
Starting point is 01:09:06 Well, them X's nose don't move. You just put them on the paper. They stay right where you put them. So he was a little short because the person in front of him. The collision, it forced him to run as Xavier Worthy. So if anything, you've got to go a little higher. You got to fight through that contact. You have to.
Starting point is 01:09:22 And that's where the collision happened. So it's unfortunate. it is something that he can fix. But again, it's all about being self-aware. He can fix it now, but they ain't fixing Xavier's shoulder for a couple of weeks. Yeah, that's messed up. That's the thing. But I knew what it was.
Starting point is 01:09:40 I said, bro, do you understand how many shallow crosses that I've run? How many pink shallow crosses? Because a lot of sometimes, we run the shallow cross on our own. And a real shallow cross is four to six. You're four yards, but you're gaining because you want to give the quarterback the angle. So you start two, three, you get the four. deep, no deeper than six, catch it, hey, whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:10:00 If it's a man, he put it out in front of it, he leads turned you up. If it's a zone, you don't look at him, you just, ooh, stop on the dime, that tackle gap, hey, and however he put it on. You put it between the eight and the four, he said, get up for your shadow, Shanna. There's danger on left or the right of you.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Yeah. See, it's easy when it's on, huh? Oh, yeah, yeah, for sure. The problem is when it's man, and you got trying to collision you, and you're trying to get to your depth, and you got to fight through that. Right.
Starting point is 01:10:25 You got to fight through that. But see, and my thing is, Ocho, look, Kelsey's big than I was, but you couldn't stop me from getting where I wanted to be. No, you can't. Right. Because I'm just going to push through you. And then I see, because the whole while, as I know, I got to pick. But see, mainly, Ocho, I wasn't the picker. Somebody else was picking for me. For me, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Somebody who's picking for me. But when I did, on the rare occasion that I did have to pick, I'm going to get you. I'm going to push up. And guess what? I'm going to run I'm going to run you into your own guy. Sometimes I had to get, I had to get skinny. I'd be literally, look, you're running like this.
Starting point is 01:11:03 Hey, you got to turn like this here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you got to get skinny. But it's very unfortunate. And I know to watch it. And you're like, man, all the things can happen. I got a thousand catches.
Starting point is 01:11:20 I got like the most playoff touchdowns. I'm a few yards short of Jerry as far as yards in the playoff. Right. And I ran into my own guy. I put my own guy. That's that's what that's what that's what Travis thinking. That's what Neff is thinking. You're like, I put my own damn guy.
Starting point is 01:11:43 We already thin. We are already the first six weeks on your we without Rashid Rice. Yeah. Now we without our second best receiver. Hey, man, what y'all going to do, man? Y'all ain't going to do nothing. Blow that thing on. Let us get tired.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Rick back. Ooh, that's not fair. That's not fair. I think it's too soon for that, though. No, it ain't. Y'all ain't going nowhere. Hey, listen, if things don't continue to get better, it's only week one, now.
Starting point is 01:12:07 It's only week. The price is dropped, Ocho. If you get to the trade deadline and y'all out of contention, everybody know you're trying to unload Tyreek. Hold on, hold on. When is the trade day line? It's only week one now. Come on, now.
Starting point is 01:12:18 It's week, when is we, when the trade deadline? If you have to wait to you in a bind, it's too late people you make bad decisions when you're in a bind right make decisions before you have to that's not the way that's not the way they're thinking like that management is not thinking like that we just starting the season they're not thinking like that already now you are thinking like that logically because we're sitting here we're not playing but we want to at least have a chance to win who gives us our best chance to win number 10 no what gives us the best chance
Starting point is 01:12:49 to win in 26 27 and beyond because you and I both know Tyreek Hill carriek He was making $36 million next year. You know damn well, you know that, I know that. He ain't getting that from Miami. If that's the case, if that's the case, if we think about 26, 27, and beyond, then you would let him go when it was the issue with what he said last year in the offseason.
Starting point is 01:13:08 You would let him go this off season. I think they thought about it, Ocho. They damn show thought about it. They thought about it. Okay. And maybe the price was a little bit too high. The price came down now. Price coming down.
Starting point is 01:13:21 Because you know how it's coming down, don't know? Yeah. The NFL said they're going to invest. He's going through a divorce and there were some things put in the lawsuit that's come out that the NFL didn't that don't look favorable upon and I hate that for Tyreek We've kind of had I we've you know he he he took what I said I said that he's not Smithy Steve Smith and I was having a conversation right he was basically saying that Tyreek is a body catcher he doesn't you know he doesn't pluck the ball and I was like okay I can understand that and he took that that we
Starting point is 01:13:54 I said, but he's phenomenal. Right. Michael Irvingth in the Hall of Fame. Nobody looks at Mike and says Mike, you know, Mike did this. It's okay. Right. But I've always given credit to Tyreek because when he came into the league,
Starting point is 01:14:11 Ocho, he was mainly a gadget guy. He was a returner and put him in on, you know, jet sweeps and things like that. And then all of a sudden, he turned himself, he taught himself how to run routes. He could run the route tree. And with that speed, he turned himself into a player that's going to, going to get a gold jacket one day. That's what Tyreekill has been able to do. I don't have, I've never had a problem giving guys credit when it's due.
Starting point is 01:14:34 But I've also never had a problem critiquing guys when I think there needs critiquing and saying, that's not good enough, that was bad, that was good, that was unacceptable. Yeah. That's, I've never had a problem with that. But I think, but the thing is, Ocho, the trade deadline is November 5th. Okay, okay. Oh, Joe. We got time.
Starting point is 01:14:53 Why would I why would I give you what you won't y'all two and y'all two and seven at the trade deadline and you think I'm going to give you what you want? I know you got to get up off it. I know you do. Right. Yeah. Well, keep him then. I'm not sure. I'm not sure Mr. Gray and Mike McDaniel is ready to throw the towel in already.
Starting point is 01:15:19 They are. That's why they traded Jail and Ramsey. That's why they let Christian Wilkins. That's why they let Calais Campbell go. Hold on. That's based on age. That's based on age. That's based on the amount that they had to pay Jaylon Ramsey. They're getting, they get that money off the books. Now you get that money off the books, right?
Starting point is 01:15:37 And what are you telling your players? How long? How much older is Jalen Ramsey to Mika Fitzpatrick? So Mika Fitzpatrick just came into a rebuilding situation. They're transitioning, they're transitioning, getting rid of all their older players. Okay. Huh? I said they're transitioning, getting rid of all the older players, rebuilding all over again. I mean, that's why you let Tyreek go.
Starting point is 01:16:07 You rebuilt it. They should have let him go in the off season. Yes, but I think the, I think the thing is maybe the asking price was too high. The asking price for Tyreek Hill? Yep. I feel one. Oh, Joe. If, okay, the best time to buy a sports car is win.
Starting point is 01:16:27 In the winter, you buy it in the summer or the spring and see what they tax your ass. As a matter of fact, I'm going to New York. I'm going to where it's 20 below. Yeah. Let me get that Ferrari. Mm-hmm. Hey, because I do, hey, I'm going to be able to get a discount
Starting point is 01:16:43 on the sports car in the winter. If I wait until the spring of the summer, oh, Joe. Listen to me. Let me tell you something. Speaking of sports cars, you let Jacob Ramsey go, right? yes you got that discount you wanted but that discount that sports car it's still it's still prime it's stepping it's still playing exactly had had supposed to play and it's in a better situation you think tyree could be upset about leaving absolutely not well i think i ideally
Starting point is 01:17:10 ocho i mean look i'm in a state with no state tax yeah and the weather is great year round so all things being equal ocho it's like when the fox threw the rabbit in the braille patch right He's like, whew, I was born and raised right here. Mm-hmm. Thank you. He's like, oh, Cho, no state taxes. Right. And the weather year round?
Starting point is 01:17:32 Nice. What more could you ask for? You're right. I mean, there's the reason why your black ball head ass still out there. Yeah. Listen, Miami is all I know. I'm born and raised. But obviously, you know, the first thing Tyree could say mentally in his mind,
Starting point is 01:17:47 what's the worst thing? The best thing I could ask for is a quarterback. Oh, yeah, for sure. That's what he was saying, a quarterback. But they, oh, Joe. So you want him to get, you want them to have everything. So you want the man to have nice weather. You want to have no state income tax.
Starting point is 01:17:59 And he get to play with Aaron Rogers or Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen. Well, listen, from what I, from the reports I've been seeing about going to the Steelers, oh, he would be nice. For the reports I'm seeing him about going back to Kansas City, then we would just see Tyreek a bowl. Yes. Where you're taking a player that's in a bad situation where they can't give him the ball and put him in a situation with quarterbacks where he can get the ball.
Starting point is 01:18:20 So you want to put Jerry Rice, you want to put Jerry Rice with Marino in Miami. At least put him in San Francisco so they're going to get some rain sometime. He got to play in in Clement Weather, damn. You want to put him in the ideal situation. That's like Barry.
Starting point is 01:18:36 So you want to put Barry Sanders. You want to put Barry Sanders with a Hall of Fame quarterback and the Cowboys offensive line. Right, right, right. So you wanted to be Emmett Smith. Look what they gave Emmett. They gave him a Hall of Fame quarterback,
Starting point is 01:18:50 A Hall of Fame wire receiver, offensive line out of the yin-yang, and he got 18,000 yards rushing. Yeah. Well, hell, he was with the dolphins. He had back-to-back 17-100 yards season. So we knew it can get it done there. But guess what? See, the thing is, is that he was probably,
Starting point is 01:19:07 he was not going to have that in Kansas City because you got Kelsey. But what he was going to be able to do, slip something on his finger every, you know, he's going to get a proposed. he's going to get proposed to every every year absolutely absolutely and the funny thing about it is wherever he does go he increases the chances to get another ring yeah he increases the chances of walking down at aisle again yeah i think the thing is oh cho i think they you're not going to first of all ain't nobody going to give you what you gave up to get him no he's three years he's
Starting point is 01:19:43 three years older and there's a lot other things going on now now what is it reasonable that you because Oh, Joe, he got 36 million. He's going to be $51 million against the cap next year for a wide receiver. So all things being equal, you're probably going to have to extend him to lower that cap number. Yeah. So now I got to factor that in. Now, if I trade for him, how much of that salary are you going to pay? How much of the salary am I going to pay?
Starting point is 01:20:09 Those are all things that's going to be factored in. Because I know next year 26, he's not going to, hey, no wire receiver going to count no $51 million against the cap. I understand what you're saying. But again, whoever has to account for what, whoever has to pay what, they're willing to pay because you understand the type of player you're getting. Are we sure we're going to get that type of player? Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:20:31 Okay. Come on now. Come on now. I'm just saying, Ocho, I got the factor in. I got the factor in last year. Do I not? Do I not factor in with things? If we're factoring last year, let's factor all.
Starting point is 01:20:49 That's factoring everything on why it looked the way it did. Come on. Even if you factor that in, the one thing that you cannot do is what? Quit. No matter how bad it get outside, Ocho, no matter how bad it's storming. At the end of the day, Ocho, if you're the mailman, you can't say, well, I ain't delivering the mail because it's raining. Right. Put on your galoshes.
Starting point is 01:21:12 Put on your raincoat. Yeah. And you've got to deliver the mail. Mm-hmm. You're right. Okay. We all done been through it, Ocho. we all have been the situation.
Starting point is 01:21:21 We get our eyes beat out. I'm like, whew, man, I'm glad. Hey, one, still up. Yeah. Still up. Man, we're down 30. Yeah. Hello, I was in that all my career.
Starting point is 01:21:31 What's your meeting? The outside of one season, all my career. Yeah. It's tough, man. It's tough. Ben Johnson shouldn't expect a warm homecoming, Ocho, when he returns to Ford Field for week two. And Ross St. Brown said,
Starting point is 01:21:47 week two is going to be so crazy. I promise you. It's going to be so electric. But as soon as Ben walks in there, we're booing him. I don't give a F. We're all booing him. That's dope. That's dope.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Of course. Listen, that's the way it is, huh? That's the way it is. Obviously, Ben Johnson now being, you know, the head coach over there with the Bears, having great success, you know, calling the play for the Detroit Lions. Of course, fans are going to feel some way. Players are going to feel some type of way. They're happy for them, but you're no longer apart of us.
