Starting point is 00:05:22 Oh, okay. Go ahead. Oh, you ready? Yeah. Well, you know, you know what I'm going with first? What? I'm ketchup. Damn. Yeah, I'm going ketchup. Boo. Boo. Boo. Bad, I got no chance. I guess I got to go with mustard. Oh, shoot. You tripping boy. Hot sauce.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I'm going Mayo. I hate Mayo. Okay. You hate Mayo. I'm going to go chimichurri. Chimichurri? Yeah. I'm gonna go chimichurri Chimichurri. Yeah I'm a go I go
Starting point is 00:06:11 I'm a go relish. I Am going barbecue sauce, you know lost already. Oh, yeah. What a listen first of all, what you got ketchup it I'll kill what you put captain. I lost you got lost. Oh I Plus you got ketchup in it. I don't care what you put in there. You got lost. You got lost. Oh. I guess I'll take ranch dressing. Soy sauce. Cheese.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Can I take cheese it's easy I Get you know what I would take what they put on a I need some help guys. I need some help with a what they put on a Tacos or something. Yeah, okay. So I guess I take a soul. Hey, so all right, give me teriyaki sauce. Is a case of the content is a thing. OK, I'll take the content. That's it, Ocho. OK, yeah, you, you done, you done. Yeah, man. You got ketchup, hot sauce, chimichurri, barbecue sauce,
Starting point is 00:07:30 soy sauce, and teriyaki. Well, you got a lot, boy, you got a lot of, lot of sugar, a lot, I don't know, Joe. Hope I help everybody. Everybody got, you know, help is on the up and up. They gon' be all right. They gon' be all right. They gon' be all right. I gon' be all right. They gon' be all right.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I got mustard mayo relish ranch queso picante. Hell, if you ain't know, you swear I was Mexican. But I did. Man. Hey. You're such a bad. Hey, Ash. Hey, this is right up as Allen.
Starting point is 00:08:05 What? Because she get that she go order everything with Mayo. She go get a ranch. Oh, yeah. Surprised ranch wasn't on there. No, I got ranch. Oh, you did? Yes. OK, OK, OK. I'm going to say what people put around every goddamn thing. Yeah. Hey. Yeah, I guess we could have people put around every goddamn thing. Yeah. Hey
Starting point is 00:08:29 Yeah, I guess we could have got the chick-fil-a sauce we could have got raising cane sauce Big Mac sauce. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, Aracha Ocho Wow Lonzo ball recently admitted that the Big Baller brand sneakers he wore his rookie season could have contributed to the left knee issues that sidelined him for 1,009 days. Ball told ESPN that the first version of the Big Baller brand sneakers were comparable to kickball shoes. Lonzo suffered his first meniscus injury in January of 2018, and he could not help but wonder if triple Bs played a part.
Starting point is 00:09:18 I think it's a possibility for sure. To be honest with you, I wasn't really getting hurt like that until I started wearing them. Yeah. Uh-uh. I'm not, I'm not buying that. I'm not buying that the structure and the design of a shoe is a reason why you have no injuries when it comes to all shoes, they're all designed and structured in the same way to be able to do the same thing, especially when it comes to playing the game of basketball. I'm not putting that on those shoes.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Absolutely not. Well, some people, some people, Ocho, you have, you have, you got some people that are flat-footed, you got some people that have high arches, you have some people that have narrow foot feet, they have some people that have wide feet. And just because everybody, everybody is not gonna get the same benefit
Starting point is 00:09:59 out of wearing a Nike as they would because maybe Nike fits differently. Maybe Adidas fit differently. Puma, sketches, whatever the case may be. This is your brand, though, your brand. So obviously the shoe that you wear specialized for you is going to put it's going to be be what's the word for it's going to be fit for your foot. Oh, Joe, do you think they had the kind of money to do R&D,
Starting point is 00:10:24 research and development to structure a few straight Lord have mercy. Oh Joe. Do you know how much that do you know? How much these these companies put into R&D? Do you have any idea? Yeah, cuz I used to have a shoe Do you understand so you think a shoe a guy say you know what I got a son going to the NBA I think I'm gonna come out with a shoe. So how much money? 50 million a hundred million five hundred million. How much money you think they put invested into that shoe? I mean, oh, that's you know, that's a good question I'm not sure Speculate give me give me example R&D research and development. We're gonna design a shoe. We're gonna cast the mold. We're gonna feel it
Starting point is 00:11:04 Research and development we're gonna design a shoe. We're gonna cast the mold. We're gonna feel it You do realize how long it takes because the air max you think the air max just okay, you know what I like air max Let's do our man 95 95 95 you take the air max ones you can take the 95 you can take the 97 you take any shoe that you want Right. It takes time for a shoe to come from a vision to being able to put on somebody feet and somebody wear it. Right. Yeah, I understand what you mean, but just the just the thought, even even if there was no what do you call it, R&D? Yeah, research and development.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Yeah, we need to put out the research and development to say, oh, well, the reason for my knee injury is because the shoe I was wearing. Like, come on, you could have a possibility. Oh, Joe, it could. No, man. Hell, no, man. No, no. Let's let's not let's not blame the shoe. No. What you gonna blame it on? Oh, Joe. I mean, there are a lot of people that change. There are a lot of people that change shoes, your body, genetics, you know, we had never been in there before. Telling me the goddamn shoes I'm wearing is the reason you missed a thousand some games. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Oh, Joe, you do realize like the feet, everything leads up. So knees. I mean, your ankles, your hips, your knees, everything is impacted. And maybe the shoe, the way the shoe was constructed. Man, listen, Lazo, that's my dog, man. But now we know we ain't doing that. And I'm hoping motherfucking trucks, man. So I ain't not here now. Yeah, you did once upon a time.
Starting point is 00:12:41 How many people you see playing in trucks now? Hey, can I tell you something? Yeah, just real quick. I am not even joking. I know you think I play a lot. There's footage I think I scored maybe 17 points that there was there was a. A celebrity basketball game in Philly with Wigili,
Starting point is 00:13:01 Geron Ennis, Boots, Geron Boots, Ennis. It was it was fun. It was very competitive. And I played in trucks full speed high tops, you know, and I'm just and I was able to move and maneuver and in my lateral movement and I'm taking people off the dribble and, you know, jumping and shoot. It, you know, I like so I'm like Chuck Taylor is a is a is a great shoe for lifting weights because of the flat sole that the other maybe it may and maybe that's why we saw a lot of guys that have foot problems when they wore Chuck Taylor's that ever thought that ever cross your mind.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Yes, it's you know, it's hard for me. You know why it's hard for me to even understand or really can't even even fathom the shoes being the reason because my black ass ain't never been hurt. So it's hard for me to to kind of have any type of sympathy or really empathize with the fact that he's saying, you know, the fact that maybe the structure of the shoe is a reason why I had, you know, noted possible. OK, OK, it's a possibility. I know the percentage, the percentage of that possibility is extremely
Starting point is 00:14:05 goddamn low. Well, he didn't say it did. He say it may have contributed. So we'll leave it at that. Hey there, it's Michael Lewis, author of Going Infinite, Moneyball, The Blind Side and Liar's Poker. On every season of my podcast Against the Rules, I take a broad look at various characters in American life. The referee, the coach, the expert. My next season is all about fans and what the rise of sports betting is doing to them, to the teams, and even to my family.

Every day in just 15 minutes we dive into one global business story that matters. You'll hear from Bloomberg journalists like Matt Levine.
Starting point is 00:15:14 A lot of this boomstack stuff is I think embarrassing to the SEC. Amanda Moll, who writes our Business Week Buying Power column. Very few companies who go viral are like totally prepared for what that means. And Zoe Tillman, senior legal reporter. Courts are not supposed to decide elections. Courts are not really supposed to play a big role in choosing our elected leaders. It's for the voters to decide. Follow The Big Take podcast on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
Starting point is 00:15:46 listen. Hey everyone, I'm Madison Packer, a pro hockey veteran going on my 10th season in New York. Less emoji used with friends and romantic partners is associated with a personality style known as avoidant attachment which often involves prioritizing self reliance and independence over emotional closeness and intimacy. Yeah, now y'all watch, hey, I still in emojis. A lot of times that's how I respond. Hold on, what's the crying emoji?

Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'd be sitting in Monique, you know, the crush eyes and stuff like, and she'd be
Starting point is 00:32:20 responding sometime. She cool. Okay. Yeah, she cool. Yeah, She cool. Okay. Oh Joe, I know you're excited about this. McDonald's. What we got? What we got? What we got? McDonald's will bring back the snack wraps in 2025. Oh, but one thing they said, he might not come when you want him, but he's always on time.
Starting point is 00:32:50 On time, Mocho? He might not come when you want him, but he's always on time. Well McDonald's is bringing back the snack wrap, baby. That's what I'm talking about. But the funny thing about it is in the time it is great is the fact that the snack wraps are coming back in 2025 and I can't even have McDonald's until the new year. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:09 So you be perfect, that's right on time. See how God work? He don't make, hey listen, one thing about him, he don't make no mistakes. He don't make no mistakes. Yes, sir. Now it's time for our last segment of the evening, Ocho. Now it's time for Q&A.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Q&A, but back there. Lainey Ray asked, hey guys, so excited for New Orleans live show. For those of us going, what are you guys going to wear? I need to know the dress code. Oh, wait, where? In New Orleans, but for the live show, what are we going to wear? Oh, hey, listen, you know, I'm I'm I'm going to be decked out. I'm going to be decked out.
Starting point is 00:33:59 My my my my cousin. My cousin, but I'm home on Domingo, you know. Yeah. I'm going to take some inspiration from him. I'm not going to come, I'm not going to step the way he step, but I'm not playing. Did I tell you I met him? You met Coleman?
Starting point is 00:34:16 I did. Cool, ain't he? Yeah, I took a picture with him. I met him at JFK at the at at Tier 1. Yeah, that's my uncle man. That's my uncle man. He's a huge inspiration for me when it comes to fashion. It's just I'm a lazy dresser.
Starting point is 00:34:34 It has to be a special occasion for me to step out there. I would never be able to step like him. Oh, he put that he put that issue on. Hey man, listen, it's level. It's levels to this. He could. Hey, he's still he put that issue on. Hey, man, listen, it's level, it's levels to this. He can say he's still I would never play it. He don't play with his dress now. He don't play. He don't play. And I know we got a you know, I know the uncle Domingo, I salute you. I love you. You're inspirational for me.
Starting point is 00:35:01 I've I listen, I have a vision board. I just can't pull it off. I can't pull it off. But here's the thing though, Ocho, in order to dress like that, you have to dress like that. He, you ain't gonna see him. You're not gonna see him in public without his stepping clothes on.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And people, some people like, man, it's got to be a very, very special occasion because most of the time you're going to be in sweats. You're going to be your dick is a thing like that. I'm going to be an athleisure. And so, you know, like I like you, it has to be something that really requires me. I mean, he was in the airport just in cash and he had it on.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Yeah. Yeah. Let me let me tell you how much of a lazy dress I am. This is our Thursday with today's Thursday. Right. Yeah. Yeah. How many days I had on the same goddamn black outfit and black T-shirt. Man, you had that same black skin for 47 years. So I did six years
Starting point is 00:36:02 and I'm trying to fool the people watching the show. All I did was change the glass. I just pulled over. I changed my glasses trying to make it because it feel like a new outfit. The one it don't change my shades. The outfit resets itself. Well, now that you got your place, we got it. We got a swag bag coming for me.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Yeah. Hey man. For me? Yeah. Hey, man. Thank you. Thank you. I really appreciate it because I've been I've been I've been. You know, I just. It's been it's been a rough it's been a rough month, man. So the fact that you all are going to send me something and receive some that can that can lift my spirits, I really appreciate that. You will never be discussed anywhere in boxing history. Ever. Fake Paul. The movie is The Apprentice, and the movie is about young Donald Trump and his apprentice, Roy Cohen.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Real character, obviously. Both are real characters. It kind of has a Scarface vibe to it, which I thought was very interesting. Listen to the I Am Rapaport Stereo podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast and wherever you get your podcast. Dr. Frank L. Bellamy said Super Bowl nightcap is upon us. I can't wait. Since you're allergic to shellfish, what is the one dish you always look forward to when visiting New Orleans?
Starting point is 00:41:12 Oh, Joe, what's your go to dish when you're in the big easy? Definitely gumbo. I was to be able to place that we went to. Remember, we went down to New Orleans and we went to that place. Twisted waffle that we were. But they got so many different kinds of waffles. Right. You know what?
Starting point is 00:41:30 It's been so long since I've been in New Orleans. I can't remember the name of the spots, but I know when I do get there, I gotta get my beignets. Oh yeah. Oh, so you want to go to Cafe Du Monde? Yeah, Cafe Du Monde, that's one I'm I got to give a beanie and um That powder sugar on top though. Yeah, just just like I tell them
Starting point is 00:41:53 Like power, but you got to eat them when they're hot the Ocho. Yeah, you got to you got to I mean anything else is Unsimilar as um, you got and I tell you what I ain't a big fan You look a lot of people like that king cake. Hmm. No. It's too sweet for me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:10 You know, can I tell you something real quick? A quick story. Yeah, go ahead. Why I'm excited about going to New Orleans and I might get there even earlier than I'm supposed to. I don't know. I don't know how long, well, Unc you will know. Maybe some people in the chat.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Chat, I don't know if you guys remember the homeless man that I Had like I swear for God it might have been we had maybe a three-year run. His name is pork chop and I mean Ash Ash if you could hear me look up look up me and pork chop But I tell you me and this homeless dude He came and he came and bothered me at Davis cafe one one day on South Beach and asked me to buy him a beer. I went and bought him a case of beer, but I made him sit and eat with me. And we sat there and we ate and we talked and I, you know, asked him about his story and how did you become homeless and what you doing out here in Miami.
Starting point is 00:42:57 And he was from New Orleans. Do when I swear for God, I tell you no lie. Me and Porkchop and some people in the chat might know the story. That's what forgot. I tell you no lie. Me and Porkchop and some people in the chat might know the story. Me and Porkchop hung out every single day for damn near two years straight. I got him cleaned up, bought him clothes, had him stand at the big house back in the day.
Starting point is 00:43:20 And I tried to do everything I can to help him and save him. But he didn't have the resources, you know. And so I know he was getting a check somehow. I don't know how he was getting a damn check, but he got on the goddamn bus and left New Orleans, man. And that shit hurt me so bad, man. So I'm hoping when I'm in New Orleans, you run into him. Yeah, I got to find him. People people on Twitter that live in New Orleans always always see him on Canal Street.
Starting point is 00:43:41 He's still homeless. He's not doing as well as he was once I got a hold of him. So I'm really looking forward, man, to finding Pork Chop and maybe hoping to, you know, clean him up again and maybe have him come to the lab, show or something, man. Just, I miss him. Ash, if you look it up, Ash, you'll see the story.
Starting point is 00:43:58 That's about it. Yeah, she found it. Yeah, she found the story. Hey, when I tell you every day for two years straight. Like, you know, I don't have no entourage. I don't hang with them. You know, I don't hang with nobody. So it was easy for me to become, you know, become friends with him and go places. We go eat everywhere. We went to we went to King of Diamonds.
Starting point is 00:44:18 I took him to King of Diamonds. I had him. Oh, it's a picture of him online and he's dancing on a stripper, right? And it's another picture where he's not used to seeing that much money. So instead of throwing the money at the women, what do you think he doing with the money he grabbed and put in the pocket? He's stashing all the money in his pocket, man. I'm like, child, you've got to throw it to the women. I'll take care of you after this. Yeah, just have some fun. You're like, ah, man,
Starting point is 00:44:48 but that this should go. That damn for child, man. Nikki said, Shannon, can you please tell all these youngins why Sterling Sharp deserves to be in the hall of fame? I think the thing is for the most part, Ocho, a lot of people didn't see my brother play. But in that, he was a triple crown winner. He's one of six guys to lead the league
Starting point is 00:45:13 in catches, touchdowns, and reception. I mean yards. He led the league in catches three times. He led the league in touch, no, he led the league in catches three times, led the league in touchdowns twice, led the league in touch. No, he led the league and catches three times, led the league in touchdowns twice, led the league in yards once. And you see those numbers in seven seasons.
Starting point is 00:45:30 That's what he did. So he led the league in catches three times in seven seasons, led the league in touchdowns. You can see right there, three times, first team all-pro, five time pro, bow to 65 touchdowns. That's seven seasons. Seven. Now, go back and look at, he retired at 29.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Go back and look at Antonio Freeman's, look at Robert Brooks numbers, those next three to four years that they played with Brett. And, and I think Antonio Freeman, he went to the, we played against him in Superbowl here in Brooks. And you go, and this is not a slight on them. They weren't Sterling Sharp. The year that he played, the only receiver that you could say, okay, he was better than my brother was Jerry.
Starting point is 00:46:19 And he was right there, go look at the numbers, Jerry's numbers for seven years that my brother played from 80, from 88 to 94. And compare anybody else's numbers, all the receivers, that's whatever, that's in the hall of fame. Look at their numbers from 88 to 94. Look at my brothers and look at Jerry's number. Um, so we hope that he made it to the finals this year.
Starting point is 00:46:47 That would be, uh, probably I've had some great moments in my professional career, my personal career. I don't know, man. This is, this would be it for me, man. This would be, this would, this would be, yeah, man, this'll be, this'll be. Yeah, man, this'll be. I ain't really got a, but I don't even see, if I don't see picture seven, to see my brother go into the hall of fame.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Yeah, that'd be live, boy. That's it for me. I would've lived a full life. Yeah, everything come in full circle. Yeah. Yeah, everything come in full circle. Yeah Everything come before circle Let the league in receptions 89 92 93. He's the first to go back to back with over 100 catches two time touchdown In his last six games that he played in his career, he called 13 touchdowns
Starting point is 00:47:43 in his last six games that he played in his career, he called 13 touchdowns. Led the league in touchdowns twice, 92, 94. Led the league in catch-if, I mean in yardage, I think in 92. But, you know, sometimes that happens. But I got an opportunity to play, um, 14 years and he got an opportunity. He had the best seat in the house. So we won three Superbowls. We went into the pro football hall of fame and he got an opportunity to see that.
Starting point is 00:48:17 And so he's been by my side, every, every major event that I've had happen in my life, my brother's been a part of it. And so to be, to get an opportunity to potentially be there, to see him get that call, and to see him go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, man, it wouldn't get any better than that. That's for damn sure. That's life.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Life's lesson says, what's up guys? What do you think Prime would have more difficult time guarding on first and go at the eight yard line or all three of you guys are in your prime? Oh, he's gonna put the clamps on Ocho because Ocho ain't physical enough. He already told you Ocho, what are you gonna do to you? I don't need to be physical. That wasn't even part of my game is the fact that I was so goddamn cat quick? There's nothing he would be able to do cuz he ain't even quick as me. He just fast. There's a difference
Starting point is 00:49:12 You need to understand skill set That's all right prime got something for you, yeah, I hope so Yeah, Frank can't do nothing with me except catch a catfish, man. That's it. Yeah, I need to go down there and beat him in his own pond. You don't like that. Yeah, I don't got the patience for fishing, man.
Starting point is 00:49:37 I do. I ain't got the patience for fishing either. I got the patience to beat him. That's what I got the patience to do, beat him. Patterson Yaz Yeah. That's it. Chat. Uh, should I shoot my shot? I'm nervous. I haven't asked anyone out on a date and forever. Any advice? I think this girl is sending me signals or am I just delusional have been single for single for several single. I've been single for years. Is it my time to shine much love? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:04 We need no comment. This you got to walk in that thing with you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man.
Starting point is 00:50:20 I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man. I'm telling to get over the fence. First day. Oh Joe, will you take what it roast bark? You see you walking there with three legs. Oh, that's him, that's my dude. That's my man. Oh, you know what, he went to a hunt it, man. He tried, he tried, he tried to go from home plate
Starting point is 00:50:43 to first base. He asked him for advice. You can't get no. he tried, he tried. He tried to go from home plate to first base. He asked him for advice. You can't get the plate. I'm trying to hit it over the fence. Hey, I'm trying to get it over the fence. You know, baby step, baby steps, the man say you've been single for a minute. As he's he's saying, she's been giving him signs, so he's unsure. He's unsure of himself.
Starting point is 00:51:04 You got to go for that. You can't go all timid and shy. You got to be confident in your approach. In your approach. Like, what's up? You know, I've been thinking, I'm thinking you've been giving me signs. How you doing?
Starting point is 00:51:16 Yeah, how you doing? What's your name? I'm not sure how to take, you know, the signs. So I would appreciate if you would be a little bit more direct. Because if you're interested in me, I'm interested in you. And I would love to see where it can go. Listen we can go to You know breakfast
Starting point is 00:51:30 Uh lunch, you know depending on your schedule. I'm here for you So what would you like to do? We can exchange numbers. I give you my instagrams My twitter, yeah, I guess that's the new thing now you exchange you will change number you exchange Instagram now, it's oh But it's it depends on on arm On how efficient he wants to be if you if you really bout your business you need to get all three Get matter of fact get a Facebook to matter of fact get anybody man. These youngins on Facebook I don't man. I don't know. I don't got no I don't got no Facebook. I Mean, I got it, but uh somebody else have that I don't know. I don't got no Facebook. I mean, I got it. But
Starting point is 00:52:05 uh, somebody else have that. I don't know about no Facebook. I don't know. Hey, bro, you don't people be messaging us on Facebook. I'm George. You got my all the time. Jordan will be turning over the info. All of you talk about a a boss. You mind if I take the rest of the day off? Hey, now all of a sudden you want to, you done checked my Facebook and now you want the day off. Something ain't right.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Something fishy about that. Michael said me and my girl of 10 years broke up tonight. Damn, bro, I've been of 10 years broke up tonight. Hey, I'm going to take a roll. I've been there 10 years of a long time. Yeah, a decade. Yeah. Fuck man.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Hey, I'm honestly, I'm sick of these breakups, man. Should it happen though, Joe shit. Man, I mean. Yeah, but they don't, it don't have to happen. We need to find a solution on how to fix this stuff. Well, that's what, with people that's been married for an extremely long time,
Starting point is 00:53:19 they choose to stay married. Because it's just as easy to stay married as it is to break up. Wait a minute, hold on, hold on. People choose to stay married. You work through whatever problem that may arise, those jokes, you work through it or you attempt to work through it. You don't say F it at the first sign of trouble. At the first time where there's a disagreement. Now people just say, hey, man, I'll start all over. There's first time there's a disagreement.
Starting point is 00:53:47 Now people just say, hey, man, I'll start all over. There's somebody there better than me. I have to do this. Well, let me write that down and write it down. But I'm a tell me to take this summer therapist. Yeah, I like I like that. I like that. I like that. Matter of fact, hold on. You know, I got I got some I want to tell you to now that you are
Starting point is 00:54:04 now that you're on that topic, I had something I had to tell you. It was real good too. Hey, young dude, 10 years and now you all know longer together, right? Mm hmm. Always remember the game ends when the king fails, not when a pawn takes your queen or whether the queen leaves. A man doesn't lose value because a woman has betrayed him.
Starting point is 00:54:49 She only removed herself from the game. The King always move with strategy, not emotion. Now you take with that what you will. It's a little poem I wrote back in, back in 92 and it's still where they stay. I think Ocho is just here's the thing with relationships. It's always tough. The breakup is always tough. Yeah. If you're not the one that wants to get broken up with. See, if you want to do the breaking up, it's easy. Hey, I'm done. This ain't working for me. But when you want to be there, right? And but at the end of the day, if they're not trying to hear
Starting point is 00:55:29 that, I can't bet I'm not going to beg you. Yeah. Right, right, right, right. Now, listen, I ain't gonna run after you. Now I might, I might jog a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I might, I might, I might speed jog a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I might I might I might speed walk, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:49 but it's it's it's it's it's it. We talked about it last night with with with JR, you know, you know, that there are times and that that pain and being in that fetal position and understanding that hurt that comes. Yeah, for sure. And that was an intricate part of your daily routine. And having that having that gone, it's it's it's it's it can be rough. It can be rough regardless of tough and how much pride
Starting point is 00:56:17 and how much ego you got, you know, hey, I don't wish that. I don't wish that pain on nobody, man. Oh, Joe. If it doesn't hurt, you didn't wish that. I don't wish that pain on nobody, man. Oh, Joe. If it doesn't hurt, you didn't care enough. I'm not telling what somebody told me, I'm telling what I know, because I am a lot in whatever I do. So that's why when I lost it hurt me. That's why I had to go home.
Starting point is 00:56:41 I couldn't be around people because I know what I put into that game not just the game that week But I know what I did that offseason when you're in a relationship and you know what you put into it to make this work and All of a sudden it doesn't and that person doesn't want to be with you that is hurt Hey, you know what they know what the most important part you just said is The fact that you invest in something and you don't get the you don't get the return on said investment. You can't get that back. And then that individual doesn't want to be with you anymore.
Starting point is 00:57:21 And then you start knowing that then you start questioning yourself. So I'm looking in the mirror Well shit, what the fuck wrong with me? Look at me. Look at this who don't like this chocolate and and what hurts sometimes Ocho Oh talk to me now is that at as the thing is starting to pray Hmm, they give you the worst of themselves, but immediately give somebody else the best of themselves. I do it. Oh, stop. Oh, Joe. I'm done. I'm done. Oh, Joe. I'm done. I'm done with this. I'm done. Let's, let's just move on. Let's just move on. Let's move on.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Well, you talk, what you talking tonight, you talking tonight? So when things are ending, they give you the worst of themselves and give the new person the benefit of the doubt and they get the best version of them. Wait, if you had a link, I get $100 right now, boy. If you had an offer right now, you can have my whole savings account, boy. Bro, I ain't look. Orcho, I know I joke a lot, but I've spent a lot of time by myself and analyzing. I'm very self-analytical. I look at and I analyze things and I see things
Starting point is 00:58:45 for what they truly are. But come on, come on, Creflo shark. They call me Creflo no dollars. But, but, but that I think that's what really hurts. Yeah. and that's why like a lot of times don't show like when you leave a relationship You really have to you really have to like Let it go. You have to like I don't you know, I can't follow because I Been that oh Joe I know because I broke it up with people and gave them the worst of me and immediately gave somebody else the best I've done it cuz I'm not telling you what somebody's told you.
Starting point is 00:59:26 Told me I'm telling you what I know. I'm telling you how human nature is. And so that's and I remember and I'm thinking to myself, huh, the way you are now, Shannon, why couldn't you be like that? Take your time. Why couldn't you be like that then? Take your time. It's tough, boy. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:59:51 It's tough, man. I remember in like yesterday. Come on. Take your time. I mean, look, and this is really the first time. I mean look and this is really the first time I remember my homeboy. He called he's a homeboy. How you doing? I said man, I ain't good. Oh He's a homeboy. He said I know you will never you would never ask me to. But if you need me to, I'll call on your behalf.
Starting point is 01:00:34 When somebody, when somebody that's close to you and they say, I'm willing to extend myself, I'm willing to extend my name. On behalf of you. On behalf of you. And then my sister, I remember talking to my sister and she would always send me things every morning, every morning when I wake up because obviously she's on the East Coast, I'm in LA. So by the time I get up at, you know, I was getting up because I had to be to work at four Ocho.
Starting point is 01:01:01 So I'm getting up at three fifteen because I got to take the dogs out, let them do what they need to do. I need to take a shower and I need to get the work at four, Ocho. So I'm getting up at three 15 because I got to take the dogs out, let them do what they need to do. I need to take a shower and I need to get to work. And so she would always send me these things. And I remember getting home and I was about to go to bed. I was about to take a nap after the show. And I remember she called me and she said, how you doing? I said, I'm all right.
Starting point is 01:01:20 I said, I'm all right. But she said, Shannon. It was quiet. She said, she said, how long you been Shannon? I said, all my life. She said, you've been big, you've been said, you've been big, you've been strong, you've been resilient, you've been loving,
Starting point is 01:01:48 you've been caring. Cause this woman exit your life, you still gonna be Shadda. Mm. Don't let this situation change you, Shadda. You're still gonna be my baby brother and I'm still gonna love you. And it was the, obviously my homeboys, Bucket and Burns, they called and they checked on me. Yeah. It was my brother and sister because like, they like my
Starting point is 01:02:18 mother and father, even though we brothers and sisters is the relationship that we have. And they were, I remember this, this would have really dawned on me, Ocho, that I was really in a dark place. Yes, sir. And my brother's never said this before, and he's never said this to me since. Take your time. He said, if you need me, I'll come out there.
Starting point is 01:02:38 I'm a, at the time, how old am I? I'm, 2006 I? I'm So I'm 48 Mm-hmm. Yeah 48 49 about to be 40. I was 49 right you say if you need me I'll come out there That's what it really dawned on me He really worried. Yeah. My brother really, he had never shown me,
Starting point is 01:03:08 now I know later after talking to him, he's been other situations that he's been worried about me, but he never let me know that he was worried. That was the first time in 49 years that I could see, I could tell that he was worried. 49 years that I could see I could tell that he was worried. Man, I remember I was thinking I was like, man, what the heck. Oh, you snapped you snapped about her.
Starting point is 01:03:41 Call my sister, I'm good. Told my brother, I'm good. How long it took though? How long it took? Took me a while. This happened. Oh, dang, we're February, March. Tell me about six, seven months though. God damn. It did. Oh, it did. It did. It did. But.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Sunshine follows rain, Ocho. I'm better for it. As I look back, there are some things that I could, I wouldn't have had I not, that that relationship not dissolved, I'm not here because I turned away a lot of things because I didn't want to be away from home because I didn't want to be away from her because she, well, I need to go make,
Starting point is 01:04:40 I'm turning down 50, $75,000 gigs because she's not comfortable. Her people have, why does he want to be with you? She started to believe like, yeah, why do you want to be with me? You're this and you can have this, that, that. But I factored all that in when I decided to be with you. Come on. Did you not think about that?
Starting point is 01:05:02 Then why is it an issue now? Where's the appreciation? Hey there, it's Michael Lewis, author of Going Infinite, Moneyball, The Blind Side, and Liar's Poker. On every season of my podcast Against the Rules, I take a broad look at various characters in American life. The referee, the coach, the expert. My next season is all about fans and what the rise of sports betting is doing to them, to the teams, and even to my family. I'm heading to Las Vegas and New Jersey and beyond to understand America's newest form of legalized gambling.
Starting point is 01:05:39 Listen to Against the Rules on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. The forces shaping markets and the economy are often hiding behind a blur of numbers. So that's why we created The Big Take from Bloomberg Podcasts, to give you the context you need to make sense of it all. Every day in just 15 minutes, we dive into one global business story that matters. You'll hear from Bloomberg journalists like Matt Levine. A lot of this BIM stock stuff is I think embarrassing to the SEC. Amanda Moll, who writes our Business Week buying power column. Very few companies who go viral are like totally prepared for what that means.
Starting point is 01:06:19 And Zoe Tillman, senior legal reporter. Courts are not supposed to decide elections. Courts are not really supposed to play a big role in choosing our elected leaders. That's for the voters to decide. Follow The Big Take podcast on the iHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen. Hey everyone, I'm Madison Packer, a pro hockey veteran
Starting point is 01:06:44 going on my 10th season in New York. And I'm Anya Packer, a pro hockey veteran going on my 10th season in New York. And I'm Anya Packer, a former pro hockey player and now a full Madison Packer stan. Anya and I met through hockey and now we're married and moms to two awesome toddlers. And on our new podcast, Moms Who Puck, we're opening up about the chaos of our daily lives between the juggle of being athletes, raising children, and all the messiness in between. We're also turning to fellow athletes and beyond to learn about their parenthood journeys and collect valuable advice, like FIFA World Cup winner Ashlyn Harris. I wish my village would have prepared me for how hard motherhood was going to be.
Starting point is 01:07:20 And Peloton instructor and Ratchet Mom Club founder, Kristen Ferguson. And I remember going in there hot mess. So listen to Moms Who Puck, a production of iHeart Women's Sports and Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:07:36 Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Hey, I'm Myles Gray. And I'm Jack O'Brien. We're the hosts of The Daily Zeitgeist, and we want to tell you about Miles and Jack got Mad Boosties, an NBA podcast from iHeartRadio. We nailed that. This is a weekly podcast about all the amazing moments that keep all of us NBA fans coming
Starting point is 01:08:00 back for more. Basically, if you love basketball and you like to laugh, listen to Miles and Jack Got Mad Boosties, an NBA podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Brought to you by Hypnotic. Happy holidays from me, Michael Rapaport, and my gift to you is a free subscription to the I Am Rapaport St Stereo Podcast where I discuss entertainment, sports, politics, and anything and everything that catches my attention. I am here to call
Starting point is 01:08:32 it as I see it and there's a whole lot of things catching my eyes these days. Here's a clip from one of my favorite episodes. You are not a real fighter. You will never be discussed anywhere in boxing history. Ever. Fake Paul. The movie is The Apprentice and the movie is about young Donald Trump and his apprentice
Starting point is 01:08:58 Roy Cohen. Real character, obviously both real characters. It kind of has a Scarface vibe to it, which I thought was very interesting. Listen to the I Am Rapaport Stereo podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast and wherever you get your podcast. Stop worrying about why I chose you. I did.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Why is unimportant? Right. Because in this situation, Ocho, yeah, I'm who I am and you are who you are, but should I not love you just the same? Should I feel differently because you don't have this name? You don't have this title? I was confused about why she felt that way. Why?
Starting point is 01:09:56 I hate when women ask me, you can have anybody. Why me? You know what? Now that I think about it, I promise you go try to find one of them antibodies and leave you to Elphalome because you're unsure of yourself right he's gonna make you unsure of us and then long as there's doubt in your mind you're never gonna be able to fully give yourself to me but like you just said earlier God don't make no mistakes. Hey 1987, Chad, will you grow your hair back?
Starting point is 01:10:28 Love you guys, man. Thanks for all the relationship and financial advice. I mean, what I will do as far as growing my hair back, if I go on the campus, on the campus about three months, I'm looking forward to beating the shit out of Keith Lee. I'm not sure we can schedule that fight, but when I do go into a fight camp,
Starting point is 01:10:51 I will grow my hair out, won't cut it, look scruffy. I won't cut it till fight night. So at whatever point this comes into fruition, because he done wrote a check his ass can't cash. He he he he. Oh yeah. But he done broke to check his ass can cash Yeah, but you know sometimes oh Joe when you dealing with when you dealing with situations and we'll get back to this The other shoes is that a lot of times it's the outside because when I was in college all her girlfriends was in her ear Right. Oh he ain't it. I was like, do you understand?
Starting point is 01:11:26 Right, why are you over there? And I I ain't round him out. I said, but you know, your girl's trying to holler at me. Right. Hey, what? Hey, what? Why they telling you, you shouldn't be with him. I don't know what you see in him. They the same ones when they catch me and you not around. They asking the same. I'm saying to myself, they asking the same questions.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Why you with her? You can do so much better. Hey, but OK, I said you will let them talk you right out of relationship. Yeah. And matter of fact, you know what? You know, you know, it's funny is one doing all the talking. Why you with him? You ever notice they always single? Yes.
Starting point is 01:12:00 We noticed they don't never had nobody or they love company. It's they they bounce it from pillar to post So they bounce it from dick to dick, but they want you in the same situation in yes No consistency nobody you can depend on Consistently come hell-high water, you know, well, you know what? I know he always gonna be there for me no matter what Mm-hmm. And guess what why they talk about? I don't know why. I guarantee you right now they'll switch positions with you. But they don't know why. Why you want to be with him.
Starting point is 01:12:30 But they'll switch positions with you and be with him. I don't know why women like that. I never been in those situations. Hey, bro, that's who you want to be with. Take off. Yeah. Yeah. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Enjoy. I ain't going to let you. I ain't going to let you. I ain't Yeah. Yeah. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. I ain't going to let you, I ain't going to let you, I ain't going to let you mess over my boy.
Starting point is 01:12:48 Now if I see something, oh, I'm telling. You gotta say something. You gotta say something. I'm telling. You can't, you can't. Don't do it. Don't let, don't be talking about it. It ain't what you think.
Starting point is 01:12:58 It's exactly what I think. So whatever you think I think I'm thinking, that's what I'm thinking. I'm going to tell him that's what I thought. Yeah. Yeah. Don't, don't leave Yeah. Yeah, don't don't leave me blind Don't don't leave me blind. I'll do that Yeah I never
Starting point is 01:13:12 Switched the shoes regular those those straight track. I look I bought a pair of the big baller cuz I'm a support album I bought a pair too. I love I love the fact that the way he are. I Love the way the fact that the way he, uh, I love the way, the fact that he came for his boys. I love the fact that he and his wife, uh, Tina, uh, he'd been rock solid. You know, she went through her little bit of medical issue. He was right there by her side. He never wavered and he loved, he loves his family and I can respect that and I
Starting point is 01:13:40 can appreciate that. But I mean, at the end of the day, Ocho, you're like the mind of the, you know, I think, uh, uh, uh, uh, Lonzo, I think so really feel that that might've had an impact on his career and might've prohibited him from becoming what he could have become because Ocho three years is a long time away from a special or professional sport. Oh, that's a long, long time. Hey, we know you're a busy man.
Starting point is 01:14:10 You too, Ocho, but on your days off from first tape, do you stay tuned in to some of the hot debates or watch any? No, I don't. I don't watch it. I don't watch. I don't want you any of that. I do not because you got to think about it. We, Ocho and I, we go five days a week. I'm doing two days a week of first tape. And sometimes I take two
Starting point is 01:14:31 episodes of club Shayshae. The days that I'm off, I'm looking at stuff that we could possibly talk about on nightcap. I'm trying to find out, okay, who do I think my listening audience, my viewing audience would like to see me sit down and have a conversation with. So I don't know. I don't want, I don't watch it.
Starting point is 01:14:55 I don't watch any, if it's not a sporting events, no, I don't watch any debate. I don't watch first tape when I'm not old. I don't watch anything else when I'm not old. I'm just trying to be the best I possibly can. I know what's expected of me when I show up. I know what Steven A gave me the opportunity. I'm forever indebted to him for that. But I know what they expect to get from me.
Starting point is 01:15:19 And I'm not gonna disappoint them. But that's how I am. Even when my time was, because when we first started, I didn't, they used to have somebody to fill in us with under suited and then they would, then we just went totally dark. I didn't watch. I didn't, I don't, I don't watch, but, uh,
Starting point is 01:15:40 dark board said Detroit probably has the best team in the NFC. If not the NFL, how scary could a bit of Hutchinson hadn't gotten hurt? Yeah. Hutchinson, Hutch was, Hutch was good. Very good. Very, but he, he, he's on his way to being, you know, he was, you know, he had what six sacks in the first four or five games, he was on his way to being a serious defensive player to your candidate.
Starting point is 01:16:03 And hopefully he can come back next year, a 100% healthy and pick up where he left off. But they're getting great production from Zedarius Smith. Zedarius is a professional, go get the quarterback guy. That's what he is. He can rush from either side, got great moves, got great tenacity. I like Z a lot. And so hopefully they can put it together. You got great tenacity. I like I like I like Z a lot And so hopefully they can they can put it together
Starting point is 01:16:31 But that uh that back is gonna have to get that gonna have to get a little better Ocho Because you don't want you don't inherit the thing with it You can't let it come down to a call one way or another and have it impact the game Right when you leave it up with you a will you leave, it's a five point game or you down or you try to get the ball back. The last thing you want to do is to do something dumb. That's the last thing that you want to do, but they look good right now. They look really good. Kipper Northwood Jr.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Said, if the bears needed coach, I think it should be Ben Johnson because he's a great one. Yeah, that's a good one. You like Ben going into the division? Yeah, yeah, I like Ben. You know, listen, if you can't get Ben, Shanahan is the next big thing, you know? I think Ben could do wonders for Caleb Williams.
Starting point is 01:17:24 He can do wonders for DJ Morin Ke Keenan, Allen and commit with again, with his creativity and having Deandre Swift. I'm not saying the is no Jamiro gives in Montgomery, but he's good. He's good at what he does. And, you know, at the running back position, he can catch out as well. So with Ben Johnson's creativity, I think they will they will be just fine. Or Shannon, either one. You can't go wrong with either way.
Starting point is 01:17:46 Right. NFL matchup highlights. Said, what's up? I can, I'll just want to say thanks for the shout out. I made the video ended up Sterling versus Dion. And I saw you guys posted on nightcap IG story. I feel like I made it. Appreciate that bro.
Starting point is 01:17:59 Did a great job of that. Um, um, my brother obviously has the ultimate respect. He's a year old. He got into the league at 89 time came in and 90 they had some great matchups. Um, time has always had a very, uh, had a fondness for my brother. He's always appreciated his work ethic and how he played, how he approached the game. My brother feels the exact same way. Um, it's always great when I see those guys get together and, and, and reminisce about the battles that they had.
Starting point is 01:18:26 Um, but it's, it's, it's great. Um, that's one thing I can say about time. Like I know I'm on a different level and it's, it's, it's funny how people perceive it. And then when you know, I'm on a different level, it is funny. Um, but, uh, but yeah, I appreciate that, man. Um, we appreciate that. No and thanks for letting us use it. Marcos Angeles said, hey, Uggenocho, love the show. Could you do me a solid and shout me out?
Starting point is 01:18:52 I turned 31 today. Any advice for a 31 year old? Hey, Marco, appreciate that. Thank you for your support. Thanks for watching. Thanks for listening. Yeah, 31. Keep living.
Starting point is 01:19:02 Now, the thing is, you need to be a better man. You work today than you were yesterday. And so we have this conversation next year or five years from now. Yeah. I want you to be able to tell me how you've improved as a man, both professionally and individually, and that you a lot, you are exactly where you thought you would be. No, as a matter of fact, you're further than you thought you would be,
Starting point is 01:19:32 because that's what progress is about. Congratulations. Happy birthday. Happy 31st birthday, man. That's it, Ocho. That is it. What's that? That concludes this episode of nightcap. Thank you guys for watching us after Thursday night football game. As you watch the Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers, their division rivals by the score of 34 to 31.
Starting point is 01:20:00 The Lions are not 12 and one. The Packers fall to nine and four, but it was a very good ball game. I think everybody got something out of this ball game. I think this is a far cry from some of the Thursday night games that we've had in the past, but this was a very good ball game. And thank you guys for spending your time with us after the game.
