Starting point is 00:04:34 Oh, so it's not the quarterback, huh? For a second there, I thought it was the quarterback. Hey, Hey, coach can Alice, uh, whatever they need to do. Cause you had fans and you had everybody that thinking it was, it was, it was y'all. It was Bryce Yogg. Oh y'all got a victory and all that's all we needed. That's all we needed.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Dan Quinn got the squad back in the win column with a dominant 47 win over real and Carolina boosted their record of five and two in the East while holding on the first place in the NFC East all eyes though on the status of Daniels who exit the first quarter due to a rear bench that cleared the way for fellow number two quarter number number two overall pick Marcus my mario to shine in his relief Mario to finish with 239 total yards 34 rushing to to touchdowns, 18 or 23 passes as the commander's outgained the Panthers 421 to 89.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Every time you think of the Panthers can't play any worse. They surprise you with another performance like what they had on display today. The Panthers have been outscored by 92 points in the first half of the season. They were shut out today. Twenty seven, nothing. That's the worst in team history topic They're 43 point differential in 2014 is also the worst differential of any NFL team in the first eight games since 2021 Jets was minus
Starting point is 00:05:55 107 Yeah, Oh Joe What you like about what you saw from the commanders cuz ain't nothing you like about what you saw from Carolina Carolina's what you saw from the commanders, because ain't nothing you like about what you saw from Carolina. Carolina is this. I don't want to say nothing bad about Carolina. They just know they have work to do. They have work to do.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Well, how you going to say something good about it? It's hard to even do that, you know, but they got a lot of work to do on all on both sides of the ball. They got to figure out the quarterback situation as well. I think Dave Canales is probably on a short list, because Dave Tepper is one that is very impatient. Very and very, very, very impatient. Other than that, the commanders look good.
Starting point is 00:06:32 They look good, man. They look good. So it's not like they beat my bangles and so they beat a bad Panther team, but they beat other good teams as well. They beat other good teams as well. They beat the team as well. Yeah, they beat the Cardinals. They beat Carolina. They beat Cincinnati. No, they beat some good teams. What you saw today from them, it wasn't a fluke is what we've been seeing from them in general. And even with the funny thing about the offense, even with Jayden Daniels going out and Marcus
Starting point is 00:07:00 Mariota coming in, everything kept going. Everything, everything kept going. I'm sure the office might've changed just a tad bit because I would, I'd assume, you know, the way Jayden Daniels plays and Marcus Mariota plays, I think the playbooks probably changed up, you know, a little bit based on what they, what they, would each of them do well, but they didn't, they didn't miss a beat, man. They, they, they didn't miss a beat. Yeah. They got similar styles.
Starting point is 00:07:27 They're very different quarterbacks. Both are very, very extremely athletic. Both the Haslam and trophy winning quarterbacks, Ocho. Both were number two overall selected. And so, yeah, you're not gonna have to change much. Obviously, you know, Jane Daniels is a better right now than what Marriota is. But Marriota came in and this is what you do. If your starter goes out, your backup needs to be able to come in
Starting point is 00:07:53 and hold you afloat until the starter comes back. That is his job, Ocho. That's his job. And you know, that wish should be speaking of backup. Would you wish that is supposed to come in and do an adequate job and try to keep your team or keep the team's head above water. Mark Herata did a great job at that. I wish my dolphins, I wish my dolphins.
Starting point is 00:08:21 May I wish my dolphins. You're doing something, some type of answer. No, you got what you do. You told me they were with that talent. They got oh, Huntley go come in and do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was supposed to. You were supposed to. It just didn't pan out the way I wanted it. Hey, listen, it ain't pan out the way I thought it would pan out.
Starting point is 00:08:38 It didn't pan out. But guess who coming back next week in week eight? Guess who coming back next week? Two are coming back and he won't throw for about 450 and 500 yards. Bet you bet you that. I hope I know. So I'm telling you, I'm telling you what's going to happen. I sure hope you don't get hit though. You got to learn how to fall. That's all.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Slide slide. Nothing. He had first slide. Yeah. Well, he didn't do that. Remember you went No Exactly when he could he already had the first down just that's what I'm saying. He got to learn how to slide That's it. Protect yourself Protecting yeah Protecting chickens and protect you not a running back
Starting point is 00:09:25 quarterback Take your money, protect your chickens and protect it. You not a running back. A quarterback, oh Joe, first of all, he, no matter what the circumstances are, should never go head first. If you notice, Kansas City really don't do a whole lot of quarterback sneaks with Patrick Mahome since he hurt his knee in Denver doing a quarterback sneak. You notice that, oh Joe?
Starting point is 00:09:43 Peyton Manning, once he had that neck injury, they never did another quarterback sneak with him. Two should never ever. I don't care if it's 31. I don't care if it's fourth and one. I don't care if it was for the game winning touchdown. He should now the reward is not worth the risk. It just, it just isn't no risk. It just isn't, Ocho. It just isn't.
Starting point is 00:10:08 And given his circumstances, because once you get a concussion, it's easier to get a concussion. And a lot of times they start to happen with greater regularity. And so, Dang. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I wish you can get in and stay safe. I really do. But Ocho, man, you know this is a physical game. And it's not so much you going, because hey, Ocho, somebody's attacking you and they're slinging you down. And the next thing you know, the first thing, the back of your head. You know what, I wonder if defensive players even care the fact that he's coming back, and do you think they'll soften up on him a little bit?
Starting point is 00:10:47 Absolutely not. I'm gonna try to knock his as legal and as clean a shot I get. I was just curious. I was just curious with them understanding how many he's had, you know, just, I don't know. I don't give a damn how many he's had. I'm just telling you how they think. You think when the defensive player came back, Ocho, he's coming back. I'm just I'm just telling you how they think you think of when a defensive
Starting point is 00:11:06 player came back, he's coming back and I know his ankle and I know his knee. You don't think I'm. Oh, man, I can't cut men. Oh, boy. Ankle man. I feel so bad. Chalk, chalk. Then you go to anything like that.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Oh, roll his ass up. Oh, no. Roll his ass up. Oh, hell no. Roll his ass up. Hell yeah. That ain't got nothing to do with me. Hold on. Oh Joe. They put you out there.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It's their job to protect you. It's your job to protect you. That's not my job. Right. But he also has to protect himself as well. That's what I'm saying. Hell no. Hey, like I said, I just hope, I hope he can,
Starting point is 00:11:49 he can protect himself. I really do want you. The Bills beat the Titans after a slow start on offense in the first half. Amari Cooper played a significant role, even though he looked like he wasn't sure if he was gonna play in time. Despite quarterback Josh Allen found him four times
Starting point is 00:12:02 for 66 yards and a touchdown, Cooper became the second player in NFL history to record a receiving touchdown in the first game with multiple teams after changing teams midseason. He did it with the Cowboys and now the Bills. Chris Chambers did it with the Chiefs and the Chargers. Would you like what you saw from the Buffalo? They look like I like what I saw from Mari. I like what I saw from Mari coming in being another adequate target.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Hell, he came in and damn near had Colbert not close to a hundred, almost a hundred, but he looked efficient and they given Josh Allen another really good target that can get open all the time consistently. He ain't got to play Superman. He doesn't have to play Superman and cross his fingers and hope that players get open for him. Now you got somebody you can count on come hell or high water. He finna get open and cook in and everybody. I like it. I like, you know, Josh Allen was 21 or 33, three 23, two touchdowns, no turnovers.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Coleman, four for buck 25. Coop, four for 66. Shakira, seven for 65. King K, three for 52. They didn't run the ball extremely well. Oh, 20 rushes, 74 yards. They need to be better in that area. But as long as Josh Allen doesn't turn the ball over,
Starting point is 00:13:34 you're gonna be in every game. You're gonna be in every game as long as you don't turn the ball over. Everybody ate today too. All we receive is they today. Yeah. Oh Joe. receivers they today. Yeah. If I'm trying to say I'm a trade Calvin Ridley, I'm a trade Deandre Hopkins.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Hold on. Calvin Ridley just got there. Oh, they just said Calvin really two weeks ago. Well, man, I get paid. I'm paying him down to 19 million dollars a year. I ain't got nobody getting the ball. Oh, Joe. The man had nine targets, he got three catches. The Hobb had one target for one catch. Will Levis got the AC sprain.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Who? Will Levis, he got the AC sprain in his shoulder. You've seen enough of Will Levis, you know what he is. If Will Levis is the answer, I just need to know the question you're asking. What's the question you're asking, Ocho? If he's the answer. Hey.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Quarterback that attended the University of Kentucky. He have a rough start. But moving forward long term. He having a rough start. He having a rough start. Turn the ball over too much. He's like a young Brett Favre, huh? Yep.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Hell, a young Peyton Manning. Maybe. Minus the talent. The Seahawks went down to Georgia, went down to the Mercedes-Benz dome, Geno Smith, 18 to 28, 207 to touchdown. Despite the fact of facing the highest pressure rate this season, Gino's thrive.
Starting point is 00:15:10 He had seven completions on 13 attempts, 123 yards and two touchdowns. First cousins didn't play well today. He keep playing like that, they ain't gonna let him come to the cookout. He ain't come to the fan of reunion. He was a soft today. Swag surfing at every game. They was on fire.
Starting point is 00:15:32 You're gonna have games like you had today though. It happened. It happened to the best of them. It happened to the best of them. You know? Yeah. You can't turn the ball over like he turned it over Gave up a scooper score. I think he had a couple of pick maybe two
Starting point is 00:15:50 But I know he gave up a scooper score cuz I watched that one See how see how's a pretty good they need to get back and they got back in the winning column I'm happy for Gino, man Have you know? DK left the game. Yeah, something with his knee. How's he doing? Yeah, we don't know yet.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Cousins, three turnovers. 24, 35, 232, one touchdown, two picks. And he had a fumble that was a scoob at score. B. John Robinson, 21 and 103 for a touchdown. They ran the ball 32, basically five yards, almost five yards at a temp. Can't ask for more than that. But when you turn the ball over like that, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:16:36 you open yourself up to get beat. Yeah, every time. Gino was what? 18 and 28, 207, two touchdowns.s they ran the ball 26 rushes for 103 yards dk four for 99 on touchdown north fan four for 65 uh lock it four for 45 kitties walker the third two for 24 to touchdown turnovers turnovers kill you yeah Turnovers kill you. Yeah. They'll kill you. You get your beat. Oh Joe. Every time. They get your beat. It's hard to make up for that. He's played well. Cousins played well until today. Patriots coach Jared Mayo didn't mince words to describe his team's six straight
Starting point is 00:17:21 defeat a 32-16 loss to the Jags in London. We're a soft football team across the board. We talk about what makes a tough football team and that's being able to run the football, being able to stop the run, being able to cover kicks. We did none of those. The Patriots opened at 10-point lead, then fell apart. They totaled 38 yards rushing rushing allowed 171 yards rushing. Jackson bill at one point ran 16 straight.
Starting point is 00:17:50 And surrendered a 96 yard punt return for touchdown late in the second quarter. And in today's game, the Patriots had won 59 consecutive games since 2017 when leading by 10 points or more. Oh Joe, man, that's high school. That's Pop Warner. When you run the ball 16 straight times. Ain't nothing you can do about it. Nothing you can do about it.
Starting point is 00:18:17 I know one thing, Jacksonville, Brian Thomas Jr. If you don't know his name. He had five for 89 on the touchdown, Ocho Long, a 55, five targets, five catches. Evan Ingram, five targets, five catches. Hey, we was talking about, they wouldn't talk about Trevor Lawrence real bad.
Starting point is 00:18:44 They were talking about him bad, talking about and he you come out and pull out of Wednesday I know they were playing the Patriots, but you got you got to get him when you can You got to get me. Yeah, you know that got damn Brian Thomas, Jr. What? Every week is something different every week Pay the man. Tank Bigsby is running the ball. The 18. Is 18 hurt? I was just going to ask you, I think he's hurt. Unless he came back today.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Well, I don't see, he didn't have any rushes. Bigsby had 26 for 118 and two touchdowns. Johnson had nine for 38. Trevor Lawrence had two for 13 and Brian Thomas Jr. had two for two. He was inactive due to hamstring. But Bigsby had started to get the line, a lot of the carries. Yeah, man, uh
Starting point is 00:19:49 we Patriots man, they look Look nobody should feel sorry for the Patriots. They had a two-day That's unrivaled any any team in NFL history So Y'all the fans fans should like, you know, a cause if you 30 years of age, you don't know nothing about winning. Let's just say for the sake of argument, you 15 old Joe, your whole life was in Super Bowls. Super Bowls.
Starting point is 00:20:30 I, you know, I mean what y'all want to win for help? I mean, even the Yankees, I can't feel bad for the Yankees with that, bro, they used to win in a 20 year span, won like 15 world series. But what am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? Sorry for you. But I get I get what you're mayor is saying, like, bro. How we just how we let them run
Starting point is 00:20:56 16 straight times. How when they was average, when they was average, average and a carry probably six, seven yards on. For somebody running, yeah, embarrassing boy. That's something that's embarrassing. Trevor Lawrence was 15 or 20 for one ninety three on a touchdown,
Starting point is 00:21:20 so he wasn't asked to do a whole lot. Hell, he had to probably had to clean his jersey out there. Just turn around and hand it off. Mm hmm. May. That's a bad feeling, Ocho, you out there in this, they just running the ball and you know, you come on, man, come on, man. You can't stop it. Oh, Jaylen Pogpola, you know, you come on, man. Come on, man. You can't stop it. Jaylen Pope posted on wide receiver for the New England Patriots, a post to IG,
Starting point is 00:21:55 a peace sign. Mayo called him out for three jobs. Mayo said, we need more from Pope. We need more concentration. He'll be a good player in this league, but he's got to continue to work in it. Damn. And then he- Oh, Chone. His response was a peace sign on Instagrams. Yeah. See, see, see?
Starting point is 00:22:18 They can't take criticism. You gotta be able to take that and come back and prove your coach right. Prove him wrong, actually. Yeah, you can't take offense to that. Oh, that's how you feel? OK, bet. Watch this.
Starting point is 00:22:34 But hey. Immigration, reproductive rights, why former first lady Michelle Obama will never run for president? Affordable housing. Exactly the type of discussions you'd expect on a sports podcast, am I right? Only if you listen to Spolitx, a new sports and political podcast hosted by me, Jemele Hill, a sports journalist who has spent years writing about and discussing the intersection between sports, politics, race, gender, and culture.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Join me every Thursday as I discuss, debate and dissect the hottest and sometimes most controversial political and social issues with some of the biggest names and smartest people all through the lens of sports. So here's the assignment. Listen to Spolitics on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts, because on Spolitics, no iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Because on Spolitics, no one is broad look at various characters in American life. The referee, the coach, the expert.
Starting point is 00:23:50 My next season is all about fans and what the rise of sports betting is doing to them, to the teams, and even to my family. I'm heading to Las Vegas and New Jersey and beyond to understand America's newest form of legalized gambling. Listen to Against the Rules on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Jane Brown said, said love. And the kid said, I'm black and I'm proud. Black boxing stars and black music royalty, together in the heart of Zaire, Africa. Three days of music and then the boxing event. What was going on in the world at the time made this fight as important that anything else
Starting point is 00:24:40 is going on on the planet. My grandfather laid on the ropes and let George Foreman basically just punch himself out. Welcome to Rumble, the story of a world in transformation. The 60s and prior to that, you couldn't call a person black. And how we arrived at this peak moment. I don't have to be what you want me to be. We all came from the continent of Africa. Listen to Rumble, Ali, Foreman, and the Soul of 74 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,

I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's, to help me out like Ezra Klein, Van Jones, Jen Psaki, Estead Herndon. Starting point is 00:25:51 But we'll do that thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr., and Charlamagne the God. We're gonna take some viewer questions as well. I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about? Power to the podcast for the people. So whether you're obsessed with the news or just trying to figure out what's going on, this season of Next Question is for you. We're bringing the top GMs, top coaches, the young coordinator you're getting to know. We're gonna give you the story behind the story, but you're probably not getting anywhere else. Like all-pro Jets cornerback, Sauce Gardner.
Starting point is 00:26:50 You know as a defense we're looking forward to add knowing where we left off last season and just continuing to get better. Like first-year Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator, Zach Robinson. Bijon, he's got a ball every single play and he's gonna make a play. You see, you'll be in the front office of an NFL team one week But the next week you're gonna be at a bar elbow to elbow with some of your favorite celebrities laughing about football like Kansas City Chiefs fan Paul Rudd by the way, can I just point out how much I like the music of this place? I think it's awesome. They're kind of funky beat listen to the season with Peter Schreger on the I heart radio app Apple podcast Or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:27:34 The New York Liberty pulled off an overtime win against the Minnesota League to secure their first first ever franchise WNBA championship. The ref definitely bailed the Liberty out. I believe that was a travel very weak fall. Alana Smith was whistle for a foul on Brianna Stewart. Just a few seconds remaining in regulation. Minnesota challenged the call, but it was ultimately upheld. Stewart proceeded to tie the game from the free throw line, forcing overtime, where the Liberty eventually pulled away 67-62. The Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve was irate over the official decision to uphold a call going far to say the official robbed the link of a title.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I know the headlines will be Reeves cries foul, bring it on because that ish was stolen from us. Bring it on. I, I believe that the defender beat Brianna Stewart to the spot. She went up vertical. I believe at worst, that's a no call. You let them play on. That's just me.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I don't believe she filed in that situation. But I also knew, ain't no way in hell they gonna overturn that call. Nah. Not that situation, Ochoa. It's almost like you can't really, based on the situation, because of the magnitude of the game,
Starting point is 00:28:54 the type of game it is. I don't believe it should have been a call. At all, period. The defender was there, she went vertical. Stu initiated the contact. I mean, give them guys create the Liberty one. I thought, I mean, look, they were down by as many as 10 points.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Did a great job in the third quarter. I outscored them 20 to 10 to take the lead. Minnesota hung in there and I thought, hey, but Stuie and that's cool. Take the whole team out. The celebration is on y'all too. They build your teammates, build jobs. That's why it's a team.
Starting point is 00:29:38 That's why it's a team. I mean, Stuart was four of 10, 15 or three from the three point line. And that's cool. Was one of 19 from the floor. She was one or three from the three point line. And that's cool was one of 19 from the floor. She was one for 10 from the three. Take your teammates out, guys. Oh, finals MVP Jean-Claude, Joe. She has 17 points, six rebounds and assists, played very well.
Starting point is 00:30:07 She played 42 minutes. Stewie was 415, 0-3, 5-of-8 from the free throw line, but she had to have him because she had went to the free throw line previous and missed both of them. Came back, Rubber needed to meet the role, and it was a tough one because remember game one, Ocho, she missed the free throw that wouldn't win the game. And then she smoked the layup that would have, that would have said the game and over time. So she redeemed herself making two big, big, big free throws, uh, to tie the
Starting point is 00:30:36 game and to get into overtime. But yeah, uh, I don't know. Oh Joe, I don't know. I don't know. I just, like don't know. I don't know. I just, like I said, I thought the, I thought the defender got beat it to the spot. I thought she went vertical. Um, and they blew the whistle, but even when they challenged it, I'm like, I looked at that and it ain't over turn to this. Definitely not.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Congratulations. Congratulations to the New York Liberty. This year's WNBA champs for the first time and their first championship ever. And Stewie did it. She said that's why she went there. She wanted to be the first. They've been close so many times. They had great teams.
Starting point is 00:31:23 When they had Spoon, they ended up losing to the comics. Uh, when the comics, one of that run, they won four straight. I don't think we'll ever see that again. Um, when they had that great team look led by Cynthia Cooper, uh, Cheryl swoops, uh, Tina Thompson, um, they had, they had a, they had a juggernaut. But congratulations to the New York Liberty winning 67-62 to win the franchise's first WNBA title and congratulations to Jean-Claude Jones, finals MVP. Now she has the finals MVP and she has the regular season MVP.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Made woman. Congratulations. Oh Joe, for the first time in 43 years, two of the baseball's blue bloods are squaring off in the world series. The Dodgers made it official, defeating the Mets, 10 to five, just secured the franchises. 25th National League pin it. The victims secure the date. The recently crowned champ of the New York Yankees fair or not one knocks baseball has been perceived as inability for market is top star well
Starting point is 00:32:28 you can't get any bigger than this because the two biggest stars show hey show time with Tony against Aaron all rise judge as they take center stage in the World Series next Friday so you get Judge, you got Soto, you got Shohei, you got Mookie Betts, you got Gary Cole, you got you got some stars, you got Giancarlo Stanton. You got the two franchises, the Dodgers, the Yankees and everything in between. What a matchup. I wish I could attend the game, but unfortunately, Ocho, we got to work.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Yeah, it's unfortunate. It's unfortunate. I want to go to the one in the Yankees, because the Yankees, they got that good food down there. And they're down there on the field level. It's going to be cold. I don't want no part of that. But it's going to be cold next week is what? November is going to be freezing. Oh, at night. Hey, it can be October. At night it's going to be cold, man.
Starting point is 00:33:38 In New York. I'm going to watch. Hey, but that food, that food be busted. Yeah, you know, I get my hot dogs in baseball games Did you go over there? I'm hot dogs man. Stop eating them. Oh, glizzy gun But that's what I eat when I go to a sporting when you go to a sporting event you want to like I get two hot dogs small popcorn and a coke with no ice You like hot dogs
Starting point is 00:34:02 What you put on your head? I eat mine plain. I don't dress it up. I never dress it up. Hey, hey, same way when I was a little kid. That's that's where the habit come from. When I was a little kid, I go to the circus. I go to high school football games. I always get the same thing.
Starting point is 00:34:23 And it just even now as an adult, I just I do the same school football games. I always get the same thing. And it just, and even now as an adult, I just, I do the same thing every time. It's like, it's routine. Yeah. I, I don't, I don't need hot dogs. I haven't had a hot dog probably since I was, I don't know, kid, teenager, maybe early twenties. I just, I, I, but you're missing out. But I take your it for it.
Starting point is 00:34:47 I get my hamburger, I get chicken tenders, fries. You know, Dodgers have that Dodgers have ice cream and they put it in a batty helmet. And then the Dodgers known for the Dodgers dog. They got this hot dog by their law, Ocho. A hot dog. It's called the Dodgers dog. They got this hot dog by their lawn, Ocho. A hot dog. It's called a Dodger dog. That thing about how much is that?
Starting point is 00:35:11 Like 10 bucks, $12? It's expensive dog. I don't like that. I don't like that. Just give me my regular hot dog. I don't need nothing, you know, extravagant. 13 and a half inches. So the hot dog, $13.50.
Starting point is 00:35:29 I can say 13 and a half inches. I'm like, damn, who eat the hot dog? Nah, I'ma pass. I'm like, nah. Oh, shit. And I always go say, man, yeah, I be loving them hot dogs, man. I love them hot dogs. Two, are you eating two of them? Always, always.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Mandatory. You know, I go to one Heat game a year. When basketball season get ready to start, I'm gonna look at the schedule and see when the Lakers play the Heat in Miami. That's the one game I'm going to look at the schedule and see when the Lakers play the heat in Miami. That's the one game I'm going to. That's it. Uh, I think Costco sell the most hot dogs.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I mean, cause you know, they got those, those that like that dollar fit, I think it's a dollar 50 and they've been trying to raise and the CEO's like, nah, we're not going to raise the price. We're going to keep the price. They probably sell what? 300, 400, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 500, 400, 500, 500 of those things a year, maybe more. For a dollar, because a hot dog for a dollar 50, and it's something about when they put them in that, like what is it, rotisserie,
Starting point is 00:36:34 that thing that turns them over. Yeah, so they burn or cooks even all the way around. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But they'd be standing line, I mean, when I went to Costco many, many years ago, people be standing line. I mean when I went to Costco many many years ago People be standing line to get that in that pizza. I Know exactly what you're talking about And those samples you see you strike me as a guy to go in the store and be able to and every time you buy
Starting point is 00:36:56 Hey, listen every time you walk back you change your face Take your sweater off You know and you come by in a different shirt. Yeah, that's me. No. I ain't need no, I ain't need no samples. I can get a full offer samples. You can, especially Costco.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Costco have, they have sample on every aisle. Yeah, right. Nah, I'm good. I mean, because think about it, Ocho, you got Aaron George is going to be the MVP of the American league. Shohei, it might be close because Francisco Lindor, the Met shortstop had an unbelievable season. But what Ohtani did, the 50 plus homers, the 50 plus stolen bases, it's just going to be so hard to overcome that.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And he had those RBIs and he's doing it from the lead off spot. So I think, so now you couldn't ask for anything. You got the two, the MVP from the America league, the MVP from the last national league, and you got two, the two most historic franchises. Now the dog, the dog, the Dodgers, not excuse me, the Cardinals is one of another iconic franchise. So is the Cubs. But when you think baseball is the Yankees and the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:38:18 They got the names they got, you know, from Ruth, Garrick to Mano, to the Baggio, Jeter, you know, now Aaron Judge. They got, you know, from Ruth, Gary to Mano to the Bajio Jeter, you know, now Aaron Judge, they got, you know, they got him. Yogi Berra, they got them. They got named Jimmy. I think Jimmy Foxley, these box play for them. Or he played for the Lions, I mean the Tigers. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:51 So they look, Aaron Judge had 58 homers, he led the league in RBIs, walks, own base percentage, slugging, OPS, Ohtani 50 homersers stole at least 50 base stole. I think he had like 57, 58 stolen bases. Hey, uh, but judges judge is going to be a unanimous A L MVP. He's going to be unanimous and rightfully so. Um, I think, I think, uh, uh, showing your tiny tiny is gonna win his third MVP and four seasons
Starting point is 00:39:27 And he'll be the first since uh Was the guy he did it for the red and the Oreos to win the MVP in two different leagues, hey He has 600 home runs what's his name? Oh my god. Barry Bonds? No. Oh my bad, I'm tripping. Bonds only won the MVP in the A.O. No, he was the manager. Robinson.
Starting point is 00:39:56 What's his name? I'm just... Frank Robinson. Frank. Oh yeah, Frank. That's my boy. We got Frank. Yeah. Yeah, actually, I think he wouldn't. I think he won the Triple Crown, too. He went up on
Starting point is 00:40:15 because I think he went back, I think he went back. Because, yes, before Miguel Cabrera run it, yes, was the last to win the Triple Crown deal with the Yank. He did it for the the Red last to win the triple crown. Did what the Yank, he did it for the, the Red Sox, 67 I think. Frank Robinson, 66. Look at his numbers, 66. 586?
Starting point is 00:40:37 What is the, he might have won the triple crown, but I know he won won MVP in both leagues. So he yeah, Frank Robinson did win the triple crown, right? In 66? Yeah. My bad. Ouch.
Starting point is 00:41:00 I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean. You know, I listened. I was at that game, man. I was't mean. You know, I listened. That's I was, I was at that game, man. I was there. So I know. Oh, but, uh, Oh, Tony is going to be the second.
Starting point is 00:41:13 He's going to be the second man, I believe to win the MVP in two different American league and the national league. And I think, um, Aaron judge is going to be a unanimous MVP for the American league. He's going to win the MVP for the second time in two seasons and rightfully so. Cause he had an unbelievable, he had an unbelievable year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Yeah. Oh Joe, the cheapest ticket to game one is a thousand 85 bucks. I could just imagine what they're going to be at stadium. is a thousand eighty five bucks. I could just imagine what they gonna be at Yankee Stadium. Gonna be crazy. The ticket might be $3,000. Listen, it's been so long for Yankee fans. I think-
Starting point is 00:41:56 Since they hadn't been to the World Series since 2009 when they won it. You know what, I think they might pay whatever it might be. Especially, we know baseball fans is a different kind of loyalty a different kind of love Because it takes so long for a team to actually get to this point to where you in the World Series I don't think they even care what the ticket price is gonna be. They will be at the game Yeah Yeah, hey Yeah. Yeah. Hey, it's so many games though. Oh Joe, that's 162 games. They start playing
Starting point is 00:42:29 in late March, April, May, June, July, all the September, October. A lot. So, oh yeah, those those field level seats at Yankee Stadium. Oh, I could have just imagined. I can just imagine what they gonna go for. They're taking the product to be 10, 12, $15,000. Oh, excuse me. Hey, Yankee Stadium. I can watch the game.
Starting point is 00:42:58 I can watch the game in New York from my hotel for free. Yeah, I like, oh no, hell no. And then to be cold? I don't like the cold. Yeah, it's gonna be cold, bruh. I don't like the cold. I ain't got no, I ain't got, I don't think I got a,
Starting point is 00:43:16 that kind of jacket to keep me warm. I do, but I won't be going to the game. You got a fur coat? Yeah, when you see my cheetah coat I had on the other day. Is that Cheetah or Leopard? Probably Leopard. Dang. No, hold on. Leopard got bigger spots. I caught this. I caught this myself. I scared.
Starting point is 00:43:57 That's leopard. It is. Yeah. Yeah. I caught him. I used no rifle. I used no gun bare hands You know rifle is a gun. Okay, and I didn't use no right. Oh my bad
Starting point is 00:44:13 Yeah, I He loves that me and he yeah around the neck Yeah, you had you had you around and make his teeth He had you and you had him. He had me around his neck, his teeth. And I was able to get my finger, I got my hand in between my neck and his teeth, because there was a little gap. And then I was able to, the tickles Adam's apple like this.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Yeah. He let me go. Then I grabbed him and lifted up, and snapped his neck. Yeah, and I started skinning him, and I made this jacket out of him. Oh, that's a nice trophy that you got. Yeah, it is, it's good for the winter too. Well, I'm hoping you're not gonna wear it in the summer.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Somebody might think you need to be committed. Yeah. If you're wearing that in Miami at any point in time, somebody go play some 51 50. Hold on bro. That's my, that's my, that's my good prize possession there, boy. All right. Hey man, somebody said that they know TJ Maxx when they see it. Well, shit, I wish that was TJ Maxx, but you know, I went through, I got one dude out there
Starting point is 00:45:24 in hell skinning that cat, man. Shit, TJ Maxx. They don't sell that in TJ Maxx. Stick to sports. Sports and politics don't mix. Or my personal favorite, shut up and dribble. I've heard these complaints throughout my sports journalism career,

Starting point is 00:49:16 where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really in here that much.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically Black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire?
Starting point is 00:49:49 Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:50:09 The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. All right, Ojo now is time for Q&A. Hey, who play tomorrow, man? You told me already, huh? He clearly wants to make sure you OK, I'm watching them.
Starting point is 00:50:56 All right, Joe, Jay, the back, you said the other day, if you had a thousand times, you couldn't thank Canada. What would you do with a thousand times? Let Russ cook, man. You know what he do. Huh? I already know what I would do. Hey, listen, what would I do with a thousand tongues?
Starting point is 00:51:18 Yeah. Hey, but with a thousand tongues, I tell real I love you a thousand times. Yeah. You don't tell them certain in a certain other way, too, but, OK, matter of fact, right now, I'm on a spiritual journey. So we just we we not on that right now. You know, so you're not. So both of you know, both of us, we decided to,
Starting point is 00:51:48 as we tried to recommit, to read it. Rediscover each other. Yeah, yeah, we just, we start know, yeah, we start know from scratch. Yeah, I'm excited. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'm excited But Okay, you know something I wish I would I would uh, I was born kind of like
Starting point is 00:52:29 15 years later. So in 68 that'll made me out of been born in what right? 93 put me with 31 nah hell no. Yeah, I'm 68. Nah 83 that'll baby 83 nah, I need to be born I did I needed to be born in like why 90 Cause God, you know girls they different now. They they move a little different Would you mean I mean I think I don't know I don't think you wanna know they they they don't move a little different They're a little easier as opposed to before that they move different what nobody they make you wait up two three four months They move different. What nobody, they make you wait up two, three, four months,
Starting point is 00:53:04 a year. Back then? Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, you won't get no who, how, no first date. Yeah, I mean, it's different now. Man, they stall you out. Yeah, depending on who you are.
Starting point is 00:53:16 Depending on who you are, you ain't gotta wait it up. It ain't matter who you are, cause I was him and I ain't hit it. They stall your boy out, I don't joke. Yeah, yeah, times are different. Times are different now. They say, listen, they ain't got time to play. I don't wanna waste no time.
Starting point is 00:53:33 So if you ain't good in this area, we ain't gonna be together anyway. We could do all the dates after. Let me see what you're working with, honey. That's what the women to tell you. That's what they're telling you today. Right there in front of you. They don't want to tell you.
Starting point is 00:53:48 You ain't finna waste my time. What time you want to meet up? What you trying to do? Because I'm trying to see if I'm going to be with you anyway, because the sex is bad. We ain't going on no damn dates. I'm trying to do something for Tucson. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to go to some. That was got to do.
Starting point is 00:54:05 I'm going to more ground. Moody sticks. That's all I got for you, baby. That's it. Moody sticks take up a six. That's it. Times have changed. That's one thing about it.
Starting point is 00:54:22 They're very aggressive. They know what they want. And they're not scared to let you know. They're gonna let you know. They gonna let you know, I'm not. Bad was like that too, Old Joe. Bad was like that. Yeah, man, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Now I know the two's are fused to let you have, you know, put it down on the first night. But I'm talking about like an eight, nine, 10. Yeah, eight, nine, Like that, too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Say that. Listen, I I laugh for you before I lied to you. Yeah. Now, you know, I only know this because I'm telling you the stories
Starting point is 00:54:57 that my homeboys tell me I don't get an opportunity. I'm not in the streets no more. You know, I'm I'm put up. So I like hearing the stories. I like but damn she ain't even. Yeah, all my homeboy mad too. Yeah. So hey all my homeboy mad. I mean I can't I ain't got no story. You can't tell me those stories ain't nobody. All I can do is reminisce. Yeah. It'd be like that sometime. Oh, yo. I'll be
Starting point is 00:55:21 sitting on my child. I'll be faking. Hey, well, I remember back in 19 God damn 82 Oh, yeah When you go through life oh Joe you get to a point in time that you say, you know what The only thing I'm trying to collect now is money and memories. Well, I like that. And right now, I got more memories than I got money. I got the memories. So I'm trying to get my money to catch up with my memories.
Starting point is 00:56:04 You gotta, listen, they out here for you, man. You got to find you one, man. They don't tell you no. I gotta stay focused. I gotta stay focused. I got the task at hand, Ocho. We going places. We going, we going.
Starting point is 00:56:19 We like the Jetsons. Ain't no telling where we gonna end up. The Jetsons? You remember the Jetsons? Hey, we like the Jessens. Ain't no telling we'll be gonna end up. The Jessens? You remember the Jessens? Do you? Yes, you talking about Elroy? Yes! George, Judy, just like I say.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Asko the dog? That's why I say we like the Jessens. Ain't no telling, we'll be gonna end up. I mean, the Jessens were the first place I saw a treadmill, a microwave, cause they had all of that stuff back in the seventies when it came on. I bet the chat don't even know what the Jess is are. George, Judy Jane, Elroy and Astro, Astro was the dog.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Remember you remember Small Wonder? You remember Small Wonder? You remember Small Wonder? What about Punky Brewster? Yeah, I remember Punky Brewster. Yeah. OK. Isadora said, oh, Joe, you lie. We all see that Rose Rose to on your Rose toy on your game instead of on IG.
Starting point is 00:57:25 I want a rose toy. That was a glade, a glade plug in. That was air freshener. I don't know. Okay. I don't know. I don't see. No, I'm just talking about what they talk about. It was, it was, it was, it was. I mean, you, you being quite hostile. I'm not hostile. I'm just saying the person they talk about. It was, it was, it was, it was. I mean, you, you being quite hostile. I'm not hostile. I'm just saying the person, they loud and wrong. How you gonna have a beer as a rose?
Starting point is 00:57:50 It's a blade plugin. And when, when the air freshener run out, you know, it had like a little dove scent to it. Like a dove, dove type smell. I'm using it as an ashtray when it, when it's done. Yeah. I need to be more than 90. That's what I, that's what I'm gonna be re-incarcerated when I come back, I'm gonna come back as a 90 maybe.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Raffy collects, Rodgers gets solid-fired and gets Adams and lose. Rodgers, who's Rodgers blaming next? You know, they don't even need, he don't even need to blame nobody, man. I'm telling you. He just need to play better. Yeah, he needs to play better, you know, they don't even need you don't even need to blame nobody, man. I'm telling you, you just need to play better. That he needs to play better, you know, and instead of those flashes of greatness being in spurts,
Starting point is 00:58:33 just have a little bit more consistent. That's all. Oh, yeah. And that's the thing. I think the thing is that a lot of times we say someone needs to play better. Oh, you dance, oh, you that know, you play better. That's what that's why they gave thing is that a lot of times we say someone needs to play better. Oh you dance Oh you that no, he need play better. That's what that's why they gave up what they gave up to get it If that was the case, you could just win get arbitrarily got somebody else to do what I do it. That's a Rogers Should we have lofty expectations for Rogers
Starting point is 00:59:04 Should we hold him to a higher standard? Then we hold a normal quarterback. Yes He he's done that That's what that's what Roger's is done. He's elevated himself into that category So therefore we have to hold him to that standard We must hold Aaron Rodgers, not to the quarterback's done a playing today, to a younger Aaron Rodgers, because when you great, that's what you get compared to.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Your younger self. They compare Jordan to him younger self. They compare Kobe, they compare LeBron. All the greats get compared to them younger selves. That's just the way it is. I didn't make the rules and I'm not going to try and change it now to fit somebody to make sure that they're okay. No, that's not how it works Ocho. That's not how it works. The Raven 9 said, why are people acting like fans of boy the player Watson got hurt? They're sharing that the person got hurt two different things. Hold on. While people act like fans are booing, the player Watson got hurt.
Starting point is 01:00:10 They were cheering that the person got hurt. I don't understand what they're trying to say. That's what I'm saying. But I'm saying you can't you can't separate the two. Is him. I get it. OK, they say, oh, we're we're we're we're we're cheering for the the player or the person, not the player.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Oh, I see what they're saying. I see what they're saying. But they're not interchangeable. I just yeah, I can't I can't speak ill of anyone especially after injury. When he scored a touchdown y'all didn't boo him. Why didn't you boo him then? I'm just curious. Yeah I'm thinking.
Starting point is 01:01:03 That's good. I that's that's right. That's a oh, OK. That was different. Let's move along with you. David Parson, Uncle Ocho, help help me get the kiddos happy meals. What are the what are the plays for tomorrow? Last time you said Lamar and Henry, 100 plus. I got two McChickens instead of one.
Starting point is 01:01:24 What's our part? Well, I parlay is my parlay is tomato. And I will hit it. Boy, you see today. Breeze Hall get a touchdown today. All he had to do was hit last night last night last week get a touchdown and I gotta hit it. But I'm gonna hit this tomorrow. I got one buddy. What you got? I'm gonna hit this tomorrow I got one buddy what you got what you got what you got nope I got a say for tomorrow
Starting point is 01:01:50 posted it tomorrow Brian is it what's up I'm gonna know Joe how about my life today where are you ranking JG on the MVP list I say top three we need a DM praying Cosby Crosby or Smith love my merch. But there's only a one third number 32. Oh, he, he's smack dabbing the MVP. Yeah, absolutely. Number one office in the goddamn NFL. Yes.
Starting point is 01:02:20 And he's the quarterback. Yeah. He may, he making it go. I think it's, uh,'s the quarterback. Yeah, he making it go. I think it's obviously Lamar, listen, the Ravens got two players in the MVP discussion, Lamar and D. Henry. What if Lamar wins again? He might win a third, boy.
Starting point is 01:02:38 He could possibly. That's crazy. Dan Henry's on pace the rush for what? They have no. Mm hmm. They got what they play six games and he got over 700 yards. So he's on pace. Yeah. And.
Starting point is 01:03:09 Yeah, but Jerry Goff is definitely into the MVP discussion with the numbers that he's putting up, the completion percentage that he has, the way his team is playing and impressive the record they have. He's absolutely in the MVP discussion and rightfully so. Name is Elijah. I couldn't pronounce my name. My name tag last night, but anyhow, keep striving, bro. I really look up to you. How you guys feel about my top five teams, Kansas city, Baltimore, Minnesota.
Starting point is 01:03:34 Now Minnesota got beat by Detroit. No, Minnesota got beat D they, they can't be green Bay. May everybody just, everybody just name it is playing well. Well above five. The team. Yes. The Minnesota. What's the record? You like Tampa Green Bay.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Oh, that's a good. That's tough. I'm going right right now. You can go. This is based on it's all on preference. I like what Baker doing with Mike Evans and got them. Excuse me, Chris Godwin. And boy, they them boys balling away. Mike Evans, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike,
Starting point is 01:04:15 I think it's a game time decision here. I think it's his hamstring. Man, listen, what is it? Everybody needs soft tissue injuries. Damn, man. I'm trying to think who would replace Mike. I gotta look at the depth chart. Oh, they got some layers. Jason Wiggins said, third super comment here.
Starting point is 01:04:43 I love the drama of the NFL today. You have you have to, uh, compete. You have, you have to have competent quarterback to make it in the NFL playoffs. Nightcap is everything to me right now. Bro, appreciate it. Jason, appreciate the support. Appreciate you are chiming in. Thanks for the comment. Thanks for being a super member. We greatly appreciate that support. Uh, yeah, you definitely have to have company quarterback play cause you can't hide him anymore. It's not good enough. Oh, we're going to run the ball and we're going to play outstanding defense. No defenses are too good. Now they're going to make
Starting point is 01:05:16 your quarterback play and he's going to have to be competent and he's going to have to make throws. And if he can't, you're not going to go very far. If you do make the plans. That Smith said, what's up? I can don't show the NFC. North is the best division in the NFL. I believe the Packers are the Dark Horse on the NFL. Which team y'all think is a Dark Horse in the NFL Dark Horse Dark Horse team?
Starting point is 01:05:42 Would be the Dark Horse. I want to say bear is so bad. Oh, I do. But if Caleb Williams keep playing the way he planned, you know, not the beginning of the season. Until about where he's been at the past two weeks, that would be my goddamn dark horse. I thought you was going to say Cincinnati.
Starting point is 01:06:06 No, no, no, no. No. Cincinnati, Cincinnati not a Darkhorse. We just the best team in AFC North. No, you're not. Y'all the third best team. We are the best team in the AFC North and you'll see that when it all matters.
Starting point is 01:06:22 It's going to come together. It don't matter. No, not right now. Football season gonna start till after Thanksgiving. Y'all might be out of it by after Thanksgiving. Never that, but we finna go on a run. Who you think is the dark horse? In the inner sea Somebody I Guess I'll take Seattle. Okay, that's a good one. That's a good pick. That's a good pick. I hope D board
Starting point is 01:06:53 What about the commanders? Oh Damn, I could have I could have been with Jayden them, huh? Yeah You like the Eagles of the Dark Horse or they know they know damn Dark Horse Oh damn I could have I could have been with Jayden them, huh? Yeah, you like the Eagles of the Dark Horse or they know they know damn Dark Horse Yeah, that bears the commanders is a good one for a Dark Horse teams that were that were Horrible last year and this year is like, uh-oh. Uh, which players, uh,
Starting point is 01:07:36 the Haji Aba, which players with record breaking contracts actually fulfill them. Many contracts seem wasted due to injury or underperformance. Could this impact future contract contracts, making them more incentive based? I think Patrick Mahomes fulfilled his. Uh, I think Aaron Donald fulfilled his. Yeah. Um, who else got a big contract? I think what you call them with at one point in time was the highest paid office alignment, big Trent.
Starting point is 01:08:00 I think he fulfilled here. Yeah. Uh, I think he fulfilled here. Yeah. Uh, I think Derek Henry fulfilled his contract in Tennessee. Absolutely. Hell, he, he fulfilling his contract here in Baltimore. Right.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Yeah. But it wouldn't break. I mean, he only got eight million. Stick to sports, sports and politics. Don't mix or my personal favorite. Shut up and dribble. I've heard these complaints throughout my sports journalism career. But despite what some people believe, sports and politics have mixed since the
Starting point is 01:08:37 beginning. Now you have a podcast that isn't afraid to explore the complicated marriage between sports and politics with a new podcast called Spolitics with me, Jamel Hill. Join me as I fearlessly explore political, social, and economical issues through the lens of sports with some of the biggest names and smartest people. You might even learn something. So here's the assignment. Listen to Spolitics on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And let's get Spolitical. In every season of my podcast Against the Rules, I take a broad look at various characters in American life.
Starting point is 01:09:25 The referee. The coach. The expert. My next season is all about fans and what the rise of sports betting is doing to them, to the teams, and even to my family. I'm heading to Las Vegas and New Jersey and beyond to understand America's newest form of legalized gambling. Listen to Against the Rules on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen
Starting point is 01:09:50 to podcasts. James Brown said, say it loud. And the kid said, I'm black and I'm proud. Black boxing stars and black music royalty together in the heart of Zaire, Africa. Three days of music and then the boxing event. What was going on in the world at the time made this fight as important that anything else is going on on the planet. My grandfather laid on the ropes and let George Foreman basically just punch himself out.
Starting point is 01:10:26 Welcome to Rumble, the story of a world in transformation. The 60s and prior to that, you couldn't call a person black. And how we arrived at this peak moment. I don't have to be what you want me to be. We all came from the continent of Africa. Listen to Rumble, Ali, Foreman, and the Soul of 74 on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everyone, it's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the home stretch and I'm exhausted. But turns out the end is near, right in time for a new season of my podcast, Next Question.
Starting point is 01:11:11 This podcast is for people like me who need a little perspective and insight. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's, to help me out like Ezra Klein, Van Jones, Jen Psaki, Estet Herndon. But we're also going to have some fun, even though these days fun and politics seems like an oxymoron. But we'll do that thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr., and Charlamagne the God. We're going to take some viewer questions as well. I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about? Power to the podcast for
Starting point is 01:11:45 the people. So whether you're obsessed with the news or just trying to figure out what's going on, this season of Next Question is for you. Check out our new season of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection or wherever you get your podcast. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really in here that much. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black.
Starting point is 01:12:36 I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network,
Starting point is 01:12:55 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. You could tell you, Rich, you say only eight million. Yeah, but I'm saying we were talking about record breaking. We talk about like a Christian McCaffrey was, you know, five years, 90 million, 80 million dollars, something like that. Uh, yeah, I mean, no, no, five, eight million dollars is a lot of money. But considering he was making 13, 14, no, five, eight million dollars is a lot of money. But considering he was making 1314.
Starting point is 01:13:26 Yeah. But we have to see, we see some of these receivers getting record making contracts. We saw some D linemen getting paid. Why receive? So we would have to see Jefferson. I think Tyreek, you know, Tyreek put two over 1700 yard season. I think he's fulfilling the contract that he's doing what they paid him to do when he when he went to Miami now he ain't got nobody throwing the ball
Starting point is 01:13:54 he's fighting out and Tua yeah Robert Presser I feel like Angel Reese not knowing her WNBA salary is a little concerning. I'm rooting for her, but everybody got to be smart about their money. I mean, what's the rookie salary? $70,000, $72,000, $73,000? OK. Say she pays $8,000 in rent?
Starting point is 01:14:29 I mean, you living down. I mean, she probably lives downtown on the high rise. Yeah. I mean, but her sponsor, her sponsor is an endorsement. She makes probably four or five, six times, you know, her salary. I mean, she turned, well, she had NIL probably with one point four, one point five that turns into sponsorship. So she's probably making, you know, a million and a half, two million dollars a year. So, you know, eight thousand, which is ninety six thousand dollars in rent is not two million dollars, which is after taxes. You know, you're talking about.
Starting point is 01:15:04 She probably brings home one point3, 1.4? You know, it all depends on the lifestyle that she wants to live. I mean, obviously, you know, you see her, she has designer on, so, hey, I think if she gets a little older, she'll realize that, you know what, probably need to stash some of this money. But the NBA salaries are going to increase. I mean, I think the most you can make now is probably a quarter of a million, the top tier.
Starting point is 01:15:34 You know, Scala Diggins, Stewie, and Asia, they're probably making that. But I mean, there's going to probably be a time when the salaries, you know, part of the time her and Caitlin, who knows, that salary might be $300,000, you know, part of time, her and Caitlin, who knows that salary might be three hundred four hundred thousand dollars. So. I don't. I don't. I don't. Getting to tell people because, you know, look, I was wasteful at one point in time in my career. And so it's just something that you just have to learn, Oh Joe. I mean, you know, yeah, I'm too young What time with time experience, you know things were changed what she enjoys now. She won't enjoy five ten year five years from now Right, right Balls later had conversation we had today
Starting point is 01:16:19 I said what I said what I said a friend of mine believes when God was passing out rolls Man was giving harder roles and harsher punishment. Do y'all agree? Wait, say that again? She said she had a conversation with a friend and a friend of mine believes when God was passing out roles, roles, everybody have a role to play,
Starting point is 01:16:41 men were giving harder roles and harsher punishment. Do you agree? Of course, but I don't you know, I think about the roles that men men men were given. I mean, I don't think there's any role that's more difficult than being a mother. OK, so you disagree. I kind of do. Yeah, I kind of do.
Starting point is 01:17:02 But I know I know what was difficult as that. And you know, you have to be having ain't no role as difficult as that. And you know. Oh, you're having a baby. Having one and dealing with the child 24 hours. And then having period cramps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, we double it up. Eating pass and bagging all this.
Starting point is 01:17:21 Oh, oh, can you hand me this? God dang. Yeah, it, oh, can you hand me this? God dang. Yeah, it's difficult. It difficult. It difficult. I'm on that. I think y'all be milking that thing. I ain't looking.
Starting point is 01:17:33 I ain't looking. They gonna get on you now. They ain't. I'm just saying, man. They be killing me, Ocho. Have me going out there, getting all kinds of, I need some ad-bill. My dog, you gotta get the my dog
Starting point is 01:17:45 Hey, get a pair of the warm he can pay it But they don't know I've been in situations where they period be so bad they'd be bar. Oh Yeah, then So I Was just kidding. I look obviously obviously some light, some heavy, but hey, unless you in somebody's body, you don't know. Cause they like, Oh, what can on a scale of one to 10, it's a 10. It's a 10.
Starting point is 01:18:20 I've had some day with shadow. I broke my collarbone 10 fraction. My socket 10 dislocated male 10 My hips when the doctor would ask me my tail is dark as a teen Ten Ttl Ti and both of them teen So, yeah, I definitely think Having to deal with you know once I mean think about it you they have this they have this
Starting point is 01:18:52 Most women not all a lot of women have you have a cycle and you start So you probably can start as young as 11 I don't know 10 and then until you 55 You know, maybe 60. Every month. Except when you pregnant. So hell no. So imagine having a toothache once a month for 40 years.
Starting point is 01:19:21 Damn. Women, y'all, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, women. I apologize. I've always been sympathetic. I just wasn't bringing no pads and no tampons home. Listen, I ain't, listen, I don't even have no choice. I ain't get it. Nope.
Starting point is 01:19:49 Randy, Alana said, Uncle Nocho, your boy finally got divorced this past Tuesday. Would you guys please give me a shout out? Randy, bro, damn, you seem really happy about that. Yeah, I don't know why you happy. But we'll shout out, hey, Randy, congrats. I mean, if congrats is in order, congratulations.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Hopefully you and her came to an amicable settlement or an agreement. If kids were involved, hopefully this is what's best for the kids because at the end of the day, that's what matters. You guys are gonna be a part of each other's life if you have kids forever. to the kids get 18 forever. So hopefully everything worked out really well for you, Randy.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Uh, I'm sorry to hear that maybe congratulations in order, but, uh, as long as you're doing well and, uh, everybody is this what's best for everybody. I wish you the best, bro. Ain't nothing out in the East streets, right? Might want to go back. She is. Happy 40th, and wish you many, many more to come. Kay, thank you for reaching out. Lamar Robinson, hey, I found out yesterday that my four-year-old dog has non-curable lymphoma.
Starting point is 01:21:38 It hurts trying to figure out how the hell to tell my three-year-old daughter that he won't be around. How did you deal with that hurt, man? Man,all. Man you did. Man I feel like a family member. I feel like a family member. When you lose a a pet. Yeah. Man I feel like. Man please. I told you that's why I can't do no dogs. It took me one, it took me one, two times to know what that pain feel like, but I don't want to experience that no more.
Starting point is 01:22:10 Man, boy, that thing hurt, old Joe. That thing hurt, hurt, hurt. And I get so, man, I get so invested in them and they be riding in the car and they be going every place. And man, you look forward to coming home.
