See dkng.com slash promos for deposit, wagering, and eligibility restrictions, PN State did not want Gentie to get that record on their watch.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Gentie entered the game, needed 131 yards of breaking the record, of tying the record, 132 to break it. Barry had 26-29. Said in 1988, Penn State defense stifled Gentie, holding him to a season low, 104 yards rushing. It's his first time not rushing for at least 125 yards in a game this season. He finished 28 yards shy of breaking Barry Sanders record. Hey listen they would pop a young
Starting point is 00:04:54 bull out there man. They would let him have it. Now I thought honestly, I'm just gonna be honest with you, I didn't think he was gonna do well against Penn State because the level of competition he was playing, playing at or with, or against for that matter and his conference, but he looked, he looked pretty, pretty, pretty goddamn good. Listen. Yeah. He was breaking tackles. He ran hard. Very hard after contact.
Starting point is 00:05:21 You know, I'm not sure. I'm not sure how many yards he had after contact, but Most of them hey He was hard to bring down the first the first guy never made the tackle the first guy never bought him down But I'm yeah But like I said, oh Joe you look you don't want that record my thing was that I said this on first date I said look, I know what Aston Genty is Let me tell you what I'm gonna do if that quarterback goes at them both for 350 three touchdowns
Starting point is 00:05:48 I'm gonna go to the middle of the field shake his hand say congratulations young man. Good luck moving forward But I refuse to let Gentie run their ass to a victim. That's not gonna happen and They felt the quarterback couldn't beat them throwing the football. Yeah, and he could Because you know when you when you take that running game away, cause they wanted to give him the ball. But I thought, and the problem is they fell behind. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 You fall behind on that game was about to get really out of hand had the quarterback Aller, he's doing the right thing by coming back. Cause he's not very good. I don't think in my eyes watching him play for the three or four games that I've seen him play. He is average. He's an average. He's an average college quarterback. There's nothing special about him. But if he doesn't form of that ball and they're about to go up 20, 21 to nothing, it's just they about to get out of it. And now you really and that's what happened when you get ahead like that. Guess what? You take him out of the running game.
Starting point is 00:06:44 You had no choice. Now you got it. Yeah But uh gently he ran hard but they give him state credit they say we don't want you to break that record on us and They did a great job of neutralizing it Look, they need to go back and everybody that played in the bowl game, they need to put add those yards to the total. You can do it. Just add just add Barry.
Starting point is 00:07:12 What did you get in the holiday bowl? Just go look it up. Bear had like 225 in the holiday bowl. Barry's record is really like 12 games, 2800 yards and like 40 plus touchdowns. They didn't count the bowl. See, they didn't count the bowl game back then, Ocho, like they do now. Bear had like 20, and they took him out. Bear could have had another 300 yard game. They talking about what they were letting taking Gentie out. Go look at some of Bear's game. And they, when they took him out, Bear was having 300 yard games. That's crazy. Look at what he did to Oklahoma. Look at what he did to Nebraska. What he did to Missouri. Go back and look at Barry's stats. Even if
Starting point is 00:07:48 Jente had a broke his record, the greatest college rushing season is Barry Sanders. I think it's one of the two best seasons in the history. Joe Burrow, that 5060 touchdown season and then Barry Sanders, 2800 yards and 40 plus touchdown. Y'all, if y'all just go back and look at the numbers that Barry put up. And you'll like you'll get a better appreciation of your Barry Sanders college career. And his sophomore year, he backed up Thurman Thomas. Yeah, Barry didn't start Thurman started Barry. Redback points and kickoffs.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Yeah. That's let that sink. Let that sink in. Minute. You believe Barry is the greatest running back in NFL. He had to sit started with you. It's crazy. That's crazy. That's
Starting point is 00:08:47 cool. It was it was. What Joe Burrow did that season there, you're probably not going to see it again because you're probably not going to be able to find two receivers like Chase and Jefferson. And then when you combine Marshall and then you had the tight end or random all son, you had Clyde, it was a layer. You had Joe burrow throwing the ball. You had an offensive line that was the best in college football.
Starting point is 00:09:11 You got the perfect storm. Yeah. And you get the perfect storm. You saw it. I mean, the guy threw for 60 touchdowns. 60 and look at, and look at some look at some of the stats what he did to Georgia. What he did to Clemson. Hey, what he did to Alabama. The the sugar bowl between the
Starting point is 00:09:34 Georgia Bulldogs and fighting Irish and Notre Dame were was postponed and senseless act of terrorism. And so before we get into the show, we want to have a moments of silence for those that were impacted and all the New Orleans New Orleans that was impacted the family friends and loved ones of this senseless and tragic so we want to take a few moments to pause to a heartfelt condolences to those that were impacted by this I know sometimes it's really hard for you to try to wrap your mind around some things that's so senseless. I would encourage you to be vigilant, but not be afraid.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Go about your normal life because that's what terrorist cowards try to do. They try to put you in fear for your normal everyday activities. But we should not, we should be vigilant but we should not be afraid. As we know there is something that a person that sits high or spirit or whatever you believe that sits high and looks low. He is the King of Kings. He's the Lord of Lords. He's the Alpha and the Omega. He's the omnipotent one. And I know right now it's hard to understand, but I encourage God to give us all strength and understanding that what transpired today to start 2025 someone wanted their moment and they took this they took the coward's way to do just that to all those that impacted
Starting point is 00:11:16 all people that lost loved ones that lost family that lost friends the night camp crew along with many other sins our our heartfelt thoughts and prayers. We pray that you gain comfort. We pray that you have understanding and time. And only when you're ready, hopefully you find peace and solace in this. Mojo, my heart breaks. I can only imagine receiving the news that some people received that this had happened. But I do understand, but I do, I do, I do sincerely in all my
Starting point is 00:11:54 heart believe there is a power power and a higher being. And we don't understand everything is not meant for us here to understand. But I do believe sunshine follows rain and it's really dark right now for a lot of people in New Orleans and for the city of New Orleans because I know you're mourning. I know you're hurting, but just know you're strong and think about what you've already overcome from Katrina and a lot of other things that have happened in that city. You're built for this, we're built for this. And like all things, we'll get through this. Prime Rips reporters that should do
Starting point is 00:12:32 a wouldn't want to play for the Browns or the Titans. It would be multiple idiots that will say things that are totally aren't true regarding I would like your door and shallow to play in the NFL. If I would say it directly to whom it may concern, not an attention seeker, I don't know NFL commission personally. I do know, oh, I do know NFL commission personally drop.
Starting point is 00:12:53 He like Mike drop. You know, I hadn't talked to Prime in a while cause like he'd getting ready for the bowl games. I don't want to bother him. I'm gonna bother his ass now. He got the bowl game ready for the bowl games. I don't want to bother him. I'm going to bother his ass now. Hold on. He ain't got no bowl games to play. Yeah, he ain't got no bowl games to play for.
Starting point is 00:13:09 So I'm going to bother his ass tomorrow. I'm going to call him tomorrow. I talked to Prime yesterday or day before yesterday. He was checking on me, right, about my situation. You already know what I'm talking about. I need to go in depth. He's like, everything good on there? I said, yeah, everything good.
Starting point is 00:13:23 He said, man, I'm going hit, I'ma hit on. I was waiting on my spirits to get back up because, you know, we lost, we lost the focus. So I needed a few days to myself. So, you know, he hit me and I said, everything is good, everything's good. Said, you know what, I'ma come on there with you guys. You know, I was like, I said, I was like, nah,
Starting point is 00:13:41 don't come on, don't come on. Let's save it, let's save it for February 6's save it. Let's save it for February 6th. Yeah. Let's save it for February 6th. Nah, all he wanna do is clown me. Nope. That's all he wanna do. That's all he do when he call, he send me a text.
Starting point is 00:13:56 So, no. Hehehehehehe. That's the way. That's the way to be live, boy. The thing is, in times like, I think I read somewhere where he is, and time's like, I think I read somewhere where you said, y'all forgot, y'all was talking like this,
Starting point is 00:14:08 but y'all forgot I got time today. The only thing I tell time is like, when I'm going to 25, I ain't chasing no lies. Yeah. I'm not gonna chase it. Why do we? I'm not gonna shoot it down. I'm not gonna try to refute it.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Whatever y'all believe, run with that. It is what it is. It is what it, now Now I'm going to see how long it goes. Because that's one thing we know about a lot. Watch how quick it disappears. Yeah. Watch how quick it disappears. You know what I don't like too? Not getting back to prime. You know, the door and whatever reporter says, you know, he wouldn't want to play for the Browns. I mean, why even write something like that? It has to come from somewhere or you're just making it up. A lot of times people want to be the first
Starting point is 00:14:54 to report something because of your second, you know, the first man to climb Mount Everest, the first man to put a man foot on the moon. Right. It's not the second guy they remember. It's the first guy is Roger Bannister that broke the sub four minute mile. It was element Edmund Hillary. And those are the Sharper Sharper that scaled Mount Everest. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Who remembers the second guy? Yeah. What's going on everybody? This is Justin Pennick from John Boy Media, the host of the Football Today podcast alongside Bobby Skinner and Chris Rose. We're rolling three times a week on Mondays, on Wednesdays, on Fridays, breaking down everything you need to know about the NFL. We're talking about the MVP race.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Is Josh Allen gonna pull it out? Lamar Jackson? Can Saquon Barkley even break the rushing record? Can the Steelers keep up their momentum? We talk about everything, we break it down. Stats, analytics, and of course Chris Rose is bringing his perspective on being a pro in the media world as well. Listen to football today on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And you will be glad you did.

I am here to call it as I see it, and there's a whole lot of things catching my eyes these days. Here's a clip from one of my favorite episodes.
Starting point is 00:16:37 You are not a real fighter. You will never be discussed anywhere in boxing history. Ever. Fake Paul. The movie is The Apprentice, real fighter you will never be discussed anywhere in boxing history ever fake Paul the movie is the apprentice and the movie is about young Donald Trump and his apprentice Roy Cohen real character obviously both real characters it kind of has a scarface vibe to it which I thought was very interesting. Listen to the I Am Rapaport Stereo podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast, and wherever you get your podcast. The forces shaping markets and the economy are often hiding behind a blur of numbers.
Starting point is 00:17:17 So that's why we created The Big Take from Bloomberg Podcasts, to give you the context you need to make sense of it all. Every day in just 15 minutes, we dive into one global business story that matters. You'll hear from Bloomberg journalists like Matt Levine. A lot of this Bumstack stuff is, I think, embarrassing to the SEC. Amanda Moll, who writes our Business Week buying power column. Very few companies who go viral are like totally prepared for what that means. And Zoe Tillman, senior legal reporter.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Courts are not supposed to decide elections. Courts are not really supposed to play a big role in choosing our elected leaders. It's for the voters to decide. Follow The Big Take podcast on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen. Hey, everyone. podcast on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen. Hey everyone, I'm Madison Packer, a pro hockey veteran going on my 10th season in New York. And I'm Anya Packer, a former pro hockey player and now a full Madison Packer stan. Anya and I met through hockey and now we're married and moms to two awesome toddlers.
Starting point is 00:18:20 And on our new podcast, Moms Who Puck, we're opening up about the chaos of our daily lives between the juggle of being athletes, raising children and all the messiness in between. We're also turning to fellow athletes and beyond to learn about their parenthood journeys and collect valuable advice. Like FIFA World Cup winner, Ashlyn Harris. I wish my village would have prepared me
Starting point is 00:18:41 for how hard motherhood was gonna be. And Peloton instructor and Ratchet Mom Club founder, Kirsten Ferguson. And I remember going in there, hot mess. So listen to Moms Who Puck, a production of iHeart Women's Sports and Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Hi, this is Alex Kanczewicz.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I'm the host of Big Technology podcast, a longtime reporter and an on-air contributor to CNBC. And if you're like me, you're trying to figure out how artificial intelligence is changing the business world and our lives. So each week on Big Technology, I bring on key actors from companies building AI tech and outsiders trying to influence it. Asking where this is all going. They come from places like Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon and plenty more. On Wednesdays, I feature interviews with top leaders like Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Well, I'm in the details. Let me just say this. I actually stay in the details of the product. And on Fridays, analysts Ron John Roy and I recap the week's news, looking at everything that's happened in the world of AI. That is an emoji red flag for me. I'm putting it up. Three emoji red flags. They told me they're going to fix Siri. I dreamed. I dreamed.
Starting point is 00:19:54 So, if you want to be smart with your wallet, your career choices, in meetings with your colleagues and at dinner parties, listen to Big Technology Podcast on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Ocho, the number 17 BYU Cougars defeated the number 23 Colorado Buffaloes 36-14. Colorado was held at 210 total yards, only two net yards rushing. The Buffaloes were shut out in the first half while being limited to 61 total yards. They had 90 yards in the fourth quarter
Starting point is 00:20:32 with the Cougars leading by 29. Chidor was sacked three times through two interceptions. He passed for 208 yards to touchdown while completing 16 or 23 passes. Travis Hunter had four receptions for 106 yards, including a 43 yard touchdown, electric touchdown in the third quarter. Talk to me because BYU ain't no slouches, boy. At all.
Starting point is 00:21:01 They're not a slouch. But yeah, you got to have a better effort than this. They were never in the game. You give up, you give up a punt return for a touchdown. You give up an onside kick. It they they they it's coach Prime's job to have this team prepared and ready to play better than what they showed up to do. It's really that simple. Let's not make it that, oh, they had a chance.
Starting point is 00:21:27 No, they didn't. After the first two series, Ocho, you knew Colorado didn't have no chance of winning this game. It looked as if they didn't belong. Ocho, I thought this, I was like, what't know if they were the JD team and the JD team is scrimmaging against varsity. But some reason BYU just look look faster.
Starting point is 00:21:54 They look a little bit more dominant at the point of attempt. I'm like, well, something ain't right. Yes. Okay, I thought, oh, Joe, I thought the exact same thing. I was like, well damn, they running circles around you. I was like, I'm like, wait a minute now. If my memory serves me correct, and I'm thinking of the old BYU and not thinking of the new BYU, you know, the culture over there has changed, the players over there have changed,
Starting point is 00:22:21 and that boy boy flying around. Mm hmm. Man, I thought, Hey, I was like, Hey, I thought my TV had glitched. I said, they got them boys fast. I said, man, there ain't no way they moving that fast. Man, I do hit that cone on that on that one. Oh Joe, that dude hit that cone on the poor return. He was, he was moving. Is anybody going to get close to it?
Starting point is 00:22:42 And then, and then they kick the field goes comes back with an onside kick, see? Because you know what I see on film? I see when they kick the ball, y'all leaving before the ball kick. Okay, we got a surprise for you. Right. That's how you block a punt. That's how you block a PAT.
Starting point is 00:22:59 That's why you do it onside. You study. Hey, the L3, the L4, they leave real quick before the balls even quit kick They already turn it to get back in position We need onside and that's the perfect time because guess what see if you down by five points in the fourth quarter They expect at all. You're not expecting that in the first quarter. Are you? That's why remember how New Orleans got the coastts in the Super Bowl with the old side? Opened the second half with it.
Starting point is 00:23:28 That's a good one. You're not expecting it. Hold on. It is a big. Yeah, but Ocho, I'm watching this game. I'm like, dang. I'm like, dang. I said, these DBs, they do it.
Starting point is 00:23:38 They did these receivers up. I'm like, they in their hip pocket. And Colorado resorted back. Not staying on their blogs. And it was just bad. It was just bad. It was bad. I mean, it was bad.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I'm like, dang it. I think they had too much time. Look, they had a great season, but they definitely, Ocho, they had a great season. You didn't finish it like you wanted. I commend Shadour for playing. I command Travis for going out there and playing. Boy, I was like, I didn't wreck, Ocho, I ain't gonna lie to you. I did not, this Colorado looked like the Colorado that lost to Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Remember they lost to Nebraska earlier in the season on the road, Ocho? And Nebraska put that open again. Definitely. That's what they look like. The funny thing about it, they look like a team that wasn't prepared but knowing Prime and understand how his preparation works in the time that he's put in with the players and having a great game plan, having a great scheme. They just weren't able to execute it the right way. And that's on the players. The onus of that is on the players. But obviously the main problem where it would result, it would always point to the coach when you know that's not the fact.
Starting point is 00:24:55 But man, they had a great, they had a hell of a season. I'm glad Travis, Travis Hunter and Shadour were able to come out healthy. I wish them all the best too, man. I wish them all the best. Yep, you wanna um You want to get the win? Somebody got to lose The thing I like about college football now, there are no more ties. There used to be ties in college football That's up Ties like kissing a pretty girl through a screen porch.
Starting point is 00:25:25 You know what I'm saying? You got the screen up there and she on the other side. Ain't no lips touching. Ain't no, nah, ain't nothing. I ain't trying to tie nobody. I don't want no tie. Tie your shoes. Damn sure ain't tying no football game. We don't go out there and compete.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Ocho for an hour. And then all of a sudden, okay, that's it, guys. Hell nah. But congratulations, BYU. We don't want to take anything away from you. Ocho for an hour. They did all of a sudden, okay, that's it, guys. Hell nah. But congratulations, BYU. We don't wanna take anything away from you. This is, look, obviously we did a lot of covering of Colorado. Coach Prime is a friend of the show.
Starting point is 00:25:58 But you guys, y'all put it on them. Y'all opened up a can. They went with the purpose. They showed up, Ocho, they showed up. They showed up. Oh, Joe, they showed up. They showed up with the sole purpose of doing what they did to Colorado. They said the world's going to be watching Colorado, but make them remember us. We remember you, bro. We remember the y'all, y'all, y'all did a number on them.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Y'all did a number on them. Yes, sir. on them. Y'all did a number on them. Yes, sir. Ocho, Cam Ward says the NCA Division 1 mark with its 156 touchdown pass in the Miami loss, but doesn't come out in the second half. After the loss, Miami coach Mario Cristobal was asked about the decision for Ward to sit. All meetings with players and decisions like that, we made them private. We kept them private.
Starting point is 00:26:47 So I prefer not to answer any questions as it relates to that. But I know he played his best while he was in there. Is it a good look or a bad look? I go first. It's a terrible look. It's a good look. The fact that he even played.
Starting point is 00:27:00 And he played, I'm not sure if something may happen in the first half. We're kind of scared him away from wanting to play in the second half. But if you played the first half, you might as well finish the second. Now that's just my thought. I'm already in there. I mean, you want to win the game. You play to win the game.
Starting point is 00:27:17 You don't want to leave your teammates hanging. If you're going to start the game, you might as well finish, y'all. I mean, that's just my thinking. Yeah, so I don't think everybody's thinking like that. I think something might have happened. Something might have happened. You don't? I don't. I think he got out of it. He's like, I'm scayed. Then the first album I'm scayed. I ain't gonna tell him fake. But my thing is just don't play. Yeah, I mean, if you don't start something, you gotta finish it. Just don't play it out.
Starting point is 00:27:48 That's how I see it. That's how I see it. You gotta, and I think the thing, I agree with you, and I think Scouts and I think Pearl Personnel's gonna, you know, they're gonna look, they're not gonna look favorable upon that decision because they're saying, if you're there, you took yourself out of the game?
Starting point is 00:28:06 But the myth, hold on, Ocho, but he said all meetings with players and decisions like that, we made them in private, we keep them in private. So I prefer not to answer any questions as it relate to that. If that was his decision, he would have said that was my decision and we're gonna go with that. Clearly it was not his decision because he doesn't want the kid to look bad. I give him credit,
Starting point is 00:28:33 but I think the most, the average person knows that the kid made a decision and look, that's his decision to make. But for me, if I start, I'm gonna finish. Either I'm gonna play the whole game, or I'm not playing at all. Listen, I kinda understand it, but I kinda don't. It kinda makes sense, but then when I sit back and think about it, it really doesn't either. What's the point of playing two quarters
Starting point is 00:28:59 and not playing the second, you know, I don't know. Thank you, Ocho. That's why I keep saying I think something must've happened know. Thank you. That's why I keep saying, I think something must have happened in the first half. That's why I keep saying that because there's no way it did happen. So don't go in there and think you pulling the wool over somebody's eyes. They don't talk to the coach. They know everything. But in his case, in his defense, when they turn the film on,
Starting point is 00:30:49 the entirety of the season, you know what you're getting. Outside, it would be more than 90 in that second half as a quarterback.
