Starting point is 00:02:32 Mitchell Robinson, guys, the Knicks got some bad news. Mitchell Robinson is out with a broken pinky finger. Sean's report, no timetable on his return. Joe, how bad would this impact the Knicks? Damn, what was he doing, huh? Probably he brought a shot or something. In practice.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Man, that's a finger. Your game is predicated out of energy and effort. Energy and effort. for shot blocking. It ain't like hell. Y'all, we throw, they throw him the ball, and he, you know, go get us a bucket. That man, you better take that damn finger up
Starting point is 00:03:06 and get ready to go. Hey, hey, all he got to do is just take these two, huh, Joe? Take these two together. Which finger was it, did it say? The pinky. You said, you mean which hand was it? You say he broke his finger, right? He broke his pinky.
Starting point is 00:03:26 His finger on what hand, yeah. They did he say. It don't matter, Joe. Just take these. He's two together right here. And let's go. Well, it wasn't like he was shooting anyway. Hey, Damien Woody said,
Starting point is 00:03:36 I'm going to need some basketball dudes to help me understand why Mitchell Robinson missing time with a broken pinky. I broke my hand in training camp, had surgery, and had the whole damn hand in the cast and didn't miss a game. Yeah, and he still got time, man. He can still get the finals will start to the fifth. He got plenty of time.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Hey, Joe, we know y'all the softest ones, Joe. I mean, come on, now, stop that. Oh, come on. Don't start. Don't start. Don't start that. How many times we don't play with dislocated fingers? And like Joe Ocho, say, take the baby together or get a split.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah. That's it. And he's a defense of play anyway. And when you go to the line, he's going to miss anyway, so we're not counting on him to make a no shot. He ain't going to do no but don't. Or free dog. Hey, unless it's so bad to what he really needs surgery or something. No.
Starting point is 00:04:26 I don't know. Surgery will have to wait to after game six. I don't think, sir, you go, is his right hand. But, like, man, he ain't shooting no shots anyway. He getting dunks and putbacks. And he rebounded. It's going to be hard to play his ad because it's going to be Hacker Robinson, too.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Oh, yeah, they're going to buy. He damn sure. Hey, he damn sure ain't going to make no free throw now. Joe, he was shooting 15% to begin with, so now he's going to shoot 10. Damn. That's bad. Hey, Joe, why he can go to a free throw coach in the offseason, Joe?
Starting point is 00:05:08 Man, that just comes from putting in, oh, you got to put the work here, Ocho. Maybe his hands too big for the ball. Nah, hell not. Maybe he's big for the ball, huh? Joe. You got, hey, anything is repetition, bro. Yep. You know, as a practice, bro.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Make 100 free throws. Before practice, make 100. Why that man to be there the whole year? Hey, hey, well, hey. That's what it's going to take. Joe talking about make 100 free throws. Yeah, yeah. NBA passes anti-tanking rules.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Three to one draft lottery system. Teams, four through 10, get three lottery balls. Both three, bottom three teams get two lottery balls. Playing teams get one to two lottery balls. 16 teams in the lottery with flatten odds previously 14. Teams cannot pick number one in consecutive years. No top five picks in three consecutive years. The worst teams now have just a 5.4% chance to get the number one pick.
Starting point is 00:06:11 The team with three balls have an 8.1% chance at each at the number one pick. The three worst teams are guaranteed to pick no lower than 12. Other lottery teams can fall as far as number 16. Joe, Ocho, do you like this? Yeah, yeah. Hey, they try and take away this tank. bro, it's killing the game. You know, when you get teams midway through the season
Starting point is 00:06:37 who feel like they got nothing to play for. Yeah. And, okay, boom. For instance, look at Washington. They went and traded for 80 and trade. I'm talking about they ain't even played none in the season. You know what I mean? They say, hey, man, you got, hey, we got to tighten this ship up, bro.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Because look, if you don't, the tanking will continue and teams will continue to, you know, do whatever they can to try and get a top three pick. You know what I mean? I'm glad they, I'm glad to implement all this in, bro. We got to do that change. Didn't the Cavaliers get the three consecutive?
Starting point is 00:07:14 They got Kyrie, Anthony Bennett, and Andrew Wiggins. Yeah. Back to back to back. Yeah. I like that. The funny thing about it too long, it's crazy that I had this with a conversation with us earlier. When we talked about the tanker rule,
Starting point is 00:07:28 obviously soccer and soccer and Joe you know if you don't play well if you're playing at the bottom of the league you get regular you get relegated you know to the lower division but obviously we we oppose the question you know to Chris Paul about what do you think about the tank in basketball and is there anything that that we can do to teams and penalize them obviously there's no regulation because there's nowhere for for NBA teams to go yeah obviously he had a really great answer and said they need to be penalized because the players that are on the team have to suffer. They have to suffer, you know, and not being able to get the numbers they want to and do some of the things and being able to contribute to helping that team win, where
Starting point is 00:08:09 they're stifled and really have, really have no say-so, you know, when the team decide the team. Yeah, because think about it. Look at it like this. If we are all on the same team, when they're talking about we tanking and it's on contract year, his own contract year, He's like, damn the damn tank. I'm gonna get my damn numbers. Yeah, it affects you. You know what I'm saying? Hey, I got a question, go.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And then you to put your ass on the bench or trade you. There you go. Hey, Joe, I'm glad you said that, Joe. They're buying T. Lou and Cleaver. Yeah. Because they wanted T. Lou to say, man, I'm trying to win. Yeah, you gotta go. Hey, T. Liu ain't about no tanking.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yeah, no. I could have told him that. Right. Hold on, Uncle Joe. Hey, if you own a team, right? And you know, they know and they understand that you and they understand that you in a contract, and in order to get your numbers,
Starting point is 00:08:58 you have to play well. Do they take that in account if you're still going to be on that team and still pay you anyway? Because they decided to tank. Yeah, no. Yeah, no. See, that's, I mean, Joe, it's like the,
Starting point is 00:09:10 expression, Joe, you know, I mean, Ocho, you know sometimes how you might finish your, uh, uh, let's just say we got the division, we got the thing sold up, we got the number one C, and we bench you and you two catches or you 20 yards. Yeah. They might go ahead and give you that money. because you would have got it.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Yeah. Because I'm going to be raising hell. Like, oh, oh, bro, you bitch me? And I'm two catches and 40 yards away from a billion dollars? Yeah. No, I got to get that. Yeah. Hey, hey, if y'all don't give me that money, I'm dressing out.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Hey, with a situation like that, because I know, I think we've talked about it before. I know both of y'all probably been in those situations to where, you know, you probably had incentives that you were trying to meet at the end of the season. Do you talk to your quarterback about that? Like, man, man, I need, I need four kids. I need 60 yards a day. Joe, had I, you know, hey, I'd have four 1,000 yards season. I didn't.
Starting point is 00:10:07 But I didn't really, I was never, I'd never really like, gotten to the quarterback ear, the coordinator of the tournament, the short and throw the bar, bro, y'all know what I can do. I'm the best on the team. Give me the damn ball.
Starting point is 00:10:19 And we lost that game. Oh, Joe, we was up 30 to 13. How are you lost? at the half. We end up losing the overtime 33 to 30. I ain't catch another pass. Go look up, go look up 1993, the last game of the season, see how many passes I caught at the
Starting point is 00:10:35 half. I think I had six for a buck $1.15 and two tubs and then catch another pass, and we end up blowing a 17 point lead. Damn, how that happened? That's what I don't understand. You know what I mean? It's like when you see a guy got it going. You know what I mean? Like, damn,
Starting point is 00:10:51 hey, every time we throw in the ball, he's getting out of that. He's making something happen. That's my homeboy burning him. Eddie Anderson was, he went to the Valley. I called it, I called her a seven route. He was chasing me. I had the ball back like this here. He reached for it.
Starting point is 00:11:07 I was gone in the end though. Chad, what I have. 1993 last game to season, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos. Pride is like love. You feel it in your heart. IR Radio. Canada's number one streaming app for radio and podcasts,

You know, Steve Carell is a great singer. Can you tell you not to audition at the office or something?
Starting point is 00:12:05 I told him. Whoa. We were filming Anchorman. Clearly, I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me, right? Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. On Humor Me with Robert Smygel and Friends, we help make you funnier on this episode. My guest's Bob, Odin Kirk, and Keats.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Kids in the halls, Bruce McCullough, try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tazan Day be famous again. What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets. They're constantly needed at malls. Listen to humor me with Robert Smygling Friends on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the civil war.
Starting point is 00:13:04 To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal. personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit
Starting point is 00:13:40 Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:14:07 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, Joe, you know, you know back then when you play the Raiders,
Starting point is 00:14:58 they're going to be right in your face all game long. Yeah. You know exactly what's coming. Right in your face all game long. All you got to do is get open. Cooked them so bad. They went and paid Albert Lewis top top, top dollar money because he's the only one at that point in time that was giving me a problem.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Yeah. Nobody, I was blissing. Everybody. It didn't matter. Your first corner, your best. your best linebacker, nobody would do another with 84 back then. Mm. I had to work a little harder, but I gave him that work too.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Yeah, yeah. I gave him that work too. I think I dropped 10 for a buck 42 on him. A little something. Let's get a little something on Monday night on your little bit. Yeah, yeah. Monday night? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Oh, hey, the Monday night game, a guy trying to show their ass like that man. Oh, yeah, because I knew everybody watching it. Hey, who call your games? You had Madden, uh, um? I did. Uh, actually, at that time, Madden was on Fox. Okay. Al Michaels and Dan Deirdorf, uh, was Monday night.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I think Boomer Assison. Yeah. But, uh, on Monday night also. But, uh, at that point in time, yeah, Summerall, uh, rest of soul, Pat Summerall, uh, Summerall and, uh, John Madden, they were Fox. Yeah. I like Boomer. Oh, you like Boomer and Saza?
Starting point is 00:16:31 Yeah, yeah. Hey, he'd be having some, he'd be having some dope scenes. That'd be the thing for me. Yeah, boom, boom, boom, nice. You know, I like, I like, I like Tony Romo, huh? You like Romo? I like Romo simply for the fact that he's played the game so well
Starting point is 00:16:46 and studied it so much, obviously playing quarterback. I like how he calls out the plays and tell you what's going to happen before it happening. 99. 49% of the time, he's always right because he's seen it before. And I'm not just a Cowboys game. I'm just talking about games he's calling in general. Yeah. It's funny watching them.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Some people say they don't even like Romo. I don't know why. But yeah, we had to, Dick Enberg called some, Dick Enberg called a lot of my games because he was on NBC at the time. And the AFC package was on NBC at the time. But everybody gave, everybody gave it up. NBC had the, NBC had the AFC package. They gave it up.
Starting point is 00:17:23 CBS got it back. CBS had the NFC package. they gave it up. That's how Fox came in and got it because like, you know, back up saying, Fox, Fox had, guess what Fox had?
Starting point is 00:17:35 Martin, the Simpson, in Living Color, in Fox News. Hey, boy, in Living Color back then, huh? Was sick. Oh, my goodness. Hey, you run to see it. In Living Color.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Hey, that's it. Hey, what's it? You watched In Living Color, Joe? Yeah, yeah. Come on, man. My favorite, Firebill Marshall. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Yeah, right, right, my goodness. And the Jamaica. Think about all the comedians that came out of that. Yeah. Stars. David Allen Greer. Tommy Davidson. Jamie Fox.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Jamie Fox. Jimmy Farrie. Jim Carrey. You got Damon Wayans. Sean. Oh, that was all. Keenan did comedy early, but he had really, by that time he had turned into a writer.
Starting point is 00:18:21 He was doing more writing than do actually doing stand-up. But think about all the guys that came up out of there. Yeah. Hey, uh, it was the one, two snaps, two snaps and, uh, that was, that was, uh, David, Damon Williams and, uh, and, uh, David out of grip.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Yeah, hey, hey, hey, that damn homie don't play that. Over the cloud. Homie don't play that. Hey, hey, can you, can I especially, so you won't be, hey, so you want me to fall down and hurt myself to your amusement. Homie don't play that. Oh, my, can I smash this pie in your face? Oh, so you ought to humiliate me in front of all these people.
Starting point is 00:19:05 He'd take the pie and hit him in his face. Homie don't play that. Hey, hey, remember the Jamaicans, hey, they had all the jobs. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. They don't make shows like that no more. We used to have some good shows coming up to what.
Starting point is 00:19:20 No, no, no, no. We don't, hey, we don't got too conscious where you, hey, that stuff that Martin used to do, with Mr. McAfee when he had that big old boot. Yeah. Come here, boy. Come here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Maghavit. But you want, Mr. McAfee, come here, boy. Hey. No, you can't. That was classic TV back then. You can't, like I said, in the 70s, Joe, they used to say the N-word with the ER. Yeah. Really?
Starting point is 00:19:48 No, G-8. It was ER. The thing that, the sitcoms, you go back and look at Archie Ball and the family, and you look at the Jefferson's and you look at. get some of those sitcom. And I, you know, it's like, but you didn't think about it back then. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:03 It didn't even darn on me that it was like, oh, okay, okay. And now you're like, godly, man, look how they talk. They made fun of it. It wasn't nothing off limits. Oh, everything. Everything had a disability, whatever. They made fun of you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:20 I was like, oh, my God. Hey, Joe, you ever, you ever seen all in the family? All in the family. Damn it sound familiar, Ojo. With Archie Bunker. For Archie Bunker. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, boy.
Starting point is 00:20:34 He spawned a lot of shows. Hey. I mean, you think about all those shows. Maude came after that. Hey, you know of Maude. Golden Girls. Yeah. Jefferson's.
Starting point is 00:20:44 There are a lot of shows. Oh, Golden Girl. From that. Hey. Uh-uh. Rob Reiner, rest his soul who tragically lost his life, his son killed him.
Starting point is 00:20:54 He was meathead. That was, that was, was his son-in-law. Damn. Yeah, he became a great writer. When Harry met Sally, things, I think he wrote a few good men also.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Hey, that was a phenomenal, phenomenal, well-written movie, boy. A few good men? Oh, my goodness. Hey, recite that thing one time. Recite that thing one time. Joe ain't ready. See, Joe ain't ready for that.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Hey, hey, show Joe. Hit Joe. Hey, wait, wait, wait. Hey, he's been hitting Denzel, Washington. He directed it. He, hey, look, he offered him to Porte Day tonight. Y'all want that portia? He said, you want answers?
Starting point is 00:21:34 I think I'm entitled to him. You want answers. I want the truth. You can't handle the truth. Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with gun. Who's going to do it? You, you, Lieutenant Weinberg,
Starting point is 00:21:47 I have a greater responsibility that you could possibly fathom. You reap for Scientago. You curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I. I know Santiago death while tragic probably save lives. My appearance grotesque and incomprehensible to you save lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places at parties you don't talk about.
Starting point is 00:22:07 You want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, cold, loyalty. We use these words of a backbone of a lifetime spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I haven't the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of freedom that I provide and then question the matter in which I provided. I'd rather you said thank you.
Starting point is 00:22:29 It went on your way or pick a weapon up at Standard Post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. Did you order the cold red? I did my job. Did you order the code red? You're damn right, I did.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Hey, hey, boy, you got that down pack, don't you, man? Let's go. You know how many time I went to see that in the movie? I probably saw that movie 50 times in the movie. Hey, and that scene, that scene right there in that courtroom, one of the best ever. One of the best scenes ever.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Hey, hey, I see somebody in the chat said, Family Matters. Oh, yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one. Family Matters with Urkel? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, it should be some good shows, bro, back in the day. Back in the day, that absolutely. Really good.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Hey, Joe, you remember Small Wonder? Yeah, I remember. small wonder. Hey, remember Punky Brewster? Yeah, you remember full house? Oh yeah, I remember. Four house, man, with the twins. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Hey, hey, hey, I should watch out of there, bro. Yeah, hey, I bet you remember Fraggle Rock. Fraggler Rock, conjunction, what's your function? Hey, what about Al? You used to watch out. Yeah, yeah. Hey, Willie. Hey, Willie.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Hey, matter of fact, hi, baby. baby. My daughter, Kennedy is watching. She has school tomorrow. I know school is almost over and out for the summer, but there's no reason you should be up this time of night. Daddy love you. Okay, now go to bed. Whoever saw the movie, Malice? Malice? With Alec Baldwin and Nicole Kidman? You saw it? I ain't seen that. I ain't seen that one. When he had the God complex. Oh, I got to, I got to check that out. It was good.
Starting point is 00:24:22 He's like I have an MD from Harvard. I am board certified. And, um, Cardiothoracic medicine and trauma surgery. I received seven citations from different, hold on. I received seven different citation from New England medical boards, and I'm never, ever sick at sea. So you ask, when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees,
Starting point is 00:24:41 that their wife doesn't miscarriage, that their daughter doesn't bleed to death, or their mother doesn't suffer a post-operative shock? Who do you think they're praying to? When you go to church and you read your Bible, Dennis, and with a little luck, you might win the annual raffle. But if you're looking for God, he was in the operating room
Starting point is 00:24:58 number two on November 17th, and he doesn't like to be second guest. So you ask if I have a God complex, I am God. In the sideshow, it's over. That boy good. That boy would be locked in with the movie. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Hey. What we talk about, man. But I'm saying I used to go to movies all the time. I like to go to movies. And if something like that right there, I'm going back again. I'm going back again. I'm going to go back again.
Starting point is 00:25:33 And then I'm going to learn that part. Yeah. I'm good. But that Jack? Hey, Jack was special, boy. Jack, Jack was special. No, he was, hey, a few good men, as good as it gets. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Have you seen what Greg Caneering as good as it get? Yeah. He was in another movie. obviously he was in the first Joker, first Batman. Mm-hmm. What was that other? Oh, here's Johnny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Yeah. He's hitting that dog coming there. Here's Johnny. Hey, you remember, I know you saw Glory, Joe. You saw Glory? Yeah, yeah, I think Glory. Denzel, Morgan Freeman. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Some really, really good scenes in Glory. Daniel Day Lewis. Daniel Day Lewis and there will be blood. There will be blood. You drank the milkshake. Clack, clack, that scene in that little bowling alley? Yeah, he are. Man, that's my favorite actor, man.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I wish I could meet Daniel Day Lewis, man. Man, that joke, hey, that Jack, when he played that first Batman, he gets that newspaper, he looks up, we think terrorize the city. Where did they get a load of me. I did on the sideline, said NFL fields that came,
Starting point is 00:26:56 but I just scored a touchdown on somebody. I forget why I scored a touchdown on. And I said, Brother sets NFL record. Where did they get a load of me? Pride is like love. You feel it in your heart. IR. Radio. Canada's number one streaming app for radio and podcasts,

Starting point is 00:27:30 Stream us on your phone. Or listen now at iHeartRadio.ca. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:27:43 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. A pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas. and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. On Humor Me with Robert Smygle and Friends, we help make you funnier on this episode. My guest's Bob Oden Kirk and Kids in the Hall's Bruce McCullough try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tazan Day be famous again.
Starting point is 00:28:47 What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets. They're constantly needed at malls. Listen to humor me with Robert Smygling Friends on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
Starting point is 00:29:16 As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence.
Starting point is 00:29:49 We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level. that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:30:26 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us
Starting point is 00:30:40 everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. Hey, that man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. According to Ira Widerman, the Miami Heat could pivot to Kauai Leonard or John Morant if they lose in the Yonis Weekstakes. Joe, would you rather have Yonah, or would you rather have Kauai or Jah in Miami? Shit, I'm going to Kauai, man. Kauai just coming out, I think, statistically,
Starting point is 00:31:30 his best season. And, like we always talk about, bro, the heat culture and how Pat Riley is, I think they'll have him right down there. He's going to be able to practice all that, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah, he ain't going to have no damn choice. Well, he never been Lee Kowah long. What did you say?
Starting point is 00:31:49 Oh, Joe, Joe, it is hard. That man has not been on a regular practice schedule since 2018. Oh. He going to have to get on when he comes to Miami. I'm just saying, Joe, do you know, Joe, think about it, Joe. You got, think about it. You on your schedule. You've been on your own schedule since 2018.
Starting point is 00:32:14 You was on your schedule in Toronto. Yeah. been on your schedule at the Clippers and to go after you gotten quai's probably what 33 34 years of age Joe I would believe you if you say the man 26 27 I say okay but Joe I don't know Joe man they got hey they got some dogs over there great weather you hear me great weather yes great environment I can see him you know being really being mentally prepared, you know, to come in and really do whatever he can to help their team get over to hump. I think Kauai is a hell of a pickup if you ask me.
Starting point is 00:32:58 He is, Joe, but. They're going to have to meet him. Joe, you know, Joe, you know the schedule. Uncle Dennis. Uncle Dennis was telling teams what it's going to be. You know, you heard you were in the league. I heard. Uncle Dennis ain't good.
Starting point is 00:33:15 That's over what? Yeah. Hey, yeah, hey, you come to Miami. All that, Joe. He got, hey, Uncle there did it. Yeah, hey. You're what it going to be? All this under the, all this under the table, stuff that y'all got going down there, L.A.,
Starting point is 00:33:28 that ain't happening out here in Miami, man. I'll just let you know. Yeah, they ain't going. They ain't going. Listen, if we want to, if the Pat Riley understands, right? Uncle Joe, if we want to be taken seriously as far as competing in the East, forget coming out the East. Just competing in the East in general, things are going to have to change.
Starting point is 00:33:47 And if things have to change, it has to start at top. We're going to need Pat Riley, you know, to have a conversation with Mickey Erickson and tell Pat, you've got to loosen up the reins a little bit. You got to evolve. The game has changed. You know, you can't be trying to coach and do things with an iron fist the way it worked in the 80s and the 90s. It's not going to work in today's era and the type of players that you're getting. In order for us to attract the kind of players we want to, to change the culture,
Starting point is 00:34:13 which has been the winning culture before, but to get back to that winning culture and in those winning ways, we're going to have to get players to come here, like the Kauai, like the Jomarans, or the Yonis. We don't want people second-guess themselves about coming to one of the greatest cities to actually play in and having people say no because of Pat Riley.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Joe, let me ask you a question. You want Kauai for 60-65 games or you want it for 30-45 game? Because you're making practice, you know what you're going to get. The knees can't take it. We're going to do a thorough investigation on his body, make sure he right. But we need his ass to, we,
Starting point is 00:34:52 they're gonna need his ass to practice. You know what I mean? He can make that 65 game throw, so he can do it. He can do it. I think he already, look, look, even when you look at him, he already in elite shape. I mean, he's a guy who really take care. He looked like he really take care of his body, bro.
Starting point is 00:35:10 So. Yeah, but he got the knees over 55. His knees might be worse than mine. Well, they, hey, they got a nice, conditioning program over there to keep him strong throughout the season, make sure he good. Yeah, yeah. You can't go over that,
Starting point is 00:35:23 but playing no damn 30, 35 games of season now. Come on. I've just tried to be honest with you, Joe. I've just tried to get you to temper your expectations. Yeah. No,
Starting point is 00:35:34 but, hey, look, because I mean, I want to see Jai go somewhere else. I wouldn't mind seeing Jai in Miami. Damn. They ain't going to be to get, they ain't going to be to get both.
Starting point is 00:35:46 for them. Should me? My thing is Joe, at this point, and the clip is going to look back, like, hold on, I don't know how the clip is let him go. Because he's the only superstar that you got and you just built a $2 billion arena. So how do you let him go?
Starting point is 00:36:05 Who are you going to come see? They got the number they got the number five pick in this draft. I think the clip is just going to really is that number five pick, LeBron James. is that number five pick Cooper flag
Starting point is 00:36:20 No Is that number five pick Michael Jordan It's got to be somebody They're going to want to see Joe Yeah You know do you know He better be Shaq He's Shaq
Starting point is 00:36:30 If the number five pick you're going to be shocked Whoever the number five pick is It's not going to fill out of arena Every night they play at home And I'm not saying In a disrespectful disrespectful way Well listen
Starting point is 00:36:40 Some people will come see him I talk about filling the arena Every single night You need a star This is the problem you have have. If you keep Kauai too damn long, you ain't going to be able to get rid of him. You know, he still got some great value in him right now that I think some teams could use and he can help him, you know, get to the finals if not win a title.
Starting point is 00:37:01 But you keep him too much longer, Uncle Ocho here. You're going to be stuck like Chuck. It's over with. Yeah. I still want to put some butts in seats, Joe. Well, hey, you're going to have to get it through the draft and be. up for the next couple of years. I'm sorry. I don't know what to tell you.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Because at the end of the day, as much as I love those guards, you know who they're coming to see in San Antonio, Joe. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And I think those guards are phenomenal. And that's not, and respectfully, as I say this, Castle is phenomenal. Dylan Harper is going to be great.
Starting point is 00:37:38 I like Vassel. I like everything about them. But they're coming to see the alien. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely right. You go to the circuit, there's only a few animals you want to see.
Starting point is 00:37:52 I mean, when you go to the zoo, what you're going to see? I'm going to see lions. Lions, lions, tigers, gorillas, snakes. Now, if I happen to walk by and see a polar bear, that's fine. If I see the giraffe or I see the zebras, I'm cool too. But you know what you're going to see and you go see those first. I'm going to go, where the elephants are. Excuse me, sir, where the elephants exist?
Starting point is 00:38:15 Hey, and you go, yeah. I'm gonna see the lines. Normally the time did I go, them lazy, mopholes, sleeping. Yeah, I'm gonna say that. You better hope the lines out. Because they sleep, like, 23 hours, sleep.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Hey, hey. They're so lazy. They're lazy. Hey, they're sleeping. I'm gonna go see, hey, I'm gonna see the silver backs. Yeah. Hey, you know, hey, I got a little time. I might check out the, go inside the enclosure,
Starting point is 00:38:43 and see the hippos, the hippos. Yeah. See a rhinoceros here or there. And then I'm going to see the snakes. Try to catch them at feeding time. That's it. That's why I mean, hey, if you're lucky enough, I think we've had to ship them all back.
Starting point is 00:38:58 You go see the pandas. The kids love to see the pandas. You get the little stuffed animals that are pandas. You get to go see the pandas. Like, oh, they're cute and cuddly. They tell your ass up, but there people don't realize they're just cute and cuddly. They're black and white.
Starting point is 00:39:09 But don't let that black and white fool you. They tell your ass up. Yeah, yeah. Hey, my little one. My little one ain't before. Boy, he loved him guerrilla. The silverback. He loved him.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Boy, you see them joking. I'm talking about all muscles. I'm talking about 400 pounds on all muscle. 400 pounds, Ocho Joe, with a 2,000 pound bench. Damn. And don't forget, now, not too long ago, there was dialogue going on about 100 people versus one gorilla.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Well, I'll tell you what, I want to be the 101. So hopefully 99 has wounded to beat him down so much. but I'm not in the first 10 or 15. Yeah, no. Because the first 10, y'all's done. You're going to catch you. You see, they bite. And with a bite force of probably a thousand pounds of pressure,
Starting point is 00:40:01 they bite your arm clean off. Bite, they'll snatch your arm clean off. Yes, and beat you over the head, and beat the next man over the head with it. So I want no part of it. That was a good time with the people saying they could take on the guerrilla board. That was a good time. Yeah, good luck with that.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Right. The wings beat the defending champ aces. Page Beckers. Azy Fudd both went off. Rookie Azy Fudd started, scored 22 points. Page Beckers, 20 points. Jessica Shepard. She had 22 points, a career high 20 rebounds and 10 assists.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Joe, we talked about this. We saw them. the other night against the Liberty. They played really well. They had that three-guard lineup. They had a, Azee did not start, but she came in,
Starting point is 00:40:55 and she had 17 in the third quarter. Yeah. And she ended up with 24. Page had 24. They still have a phenomenal player in Enrique Ogunba Wale. But, hey, our 2020?
Starting point is 00:41:08 Who had a 2020-hunk I'm looking for? Jessica Shepherd. She had 22 points. A career high, 20 rebounds, 10 assists. So again, they had, three guys, three young lady, I keep there, they had three women with 20 plus points.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I mean, and you know, Paige Beckers, she was the number of an overall pick two years ago, Aisy Fudd was the number one over a draft pick this year. Hey, they're exciting to watch. They can get the ball up and down. They can shoot the three. They got three guys that can handle the ball. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Yeah, I told you, I wouldn't, I went and watch them play against a dream. They didn't, they didn't have a good out, and they got drug against the Atlanta Dream. They took them out. But ever since then, I've been keeping up, and they've been BTA. Yes. Yeah, they ain't been playing.
Starting point is 00:41:55 They ain't been playing. You know, it takes a little while for them to kind of, you know, figure them things out. Yeah, age of October. They made it tough. Kennedy Carter is still playing unbelievable. She's playing unbelievable basketball. Six of 11 tonight. Two or four from the three, six 11 from the floor.
Starting point is 00:42:16 Yeah. Yeah. Jackie Young and Asia, they kind of changed. in Chelsea. They shot 44%. They got beat on the glass. But you know the Aces, bro, they're going to pick it up.
Starting point is 00:42:30 They're going to be there. They beat them. They beat them, Joe. Rik A's goal but one point. You know what? They were 9 of 15. Page was 8 of 18. Jessica Shepherd, 8 of 13.
Starting point is 00:42:46 I wonder, it seemed like when I watched them play the Dallas Wings, It's like a Boomer Kay. That's her name. That's how you said? Yeah. She don't really get the, Arrique, she don't really get the, she don't really get the, she don't really get the, yeah, she don't really get the, yeah, she don't really get the, yeah, she don't really get, oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:14 I see, I've seen a play. Who was she with when I went to watch the Atlanta Dream and she was on the other team? She had to be with Dallas. When she was with Dallas, soon as I came on the show that night, Unk, she was the first person I mentioned. Well, she would get into it, Joe. She moved like a dude out there.
Starting point is 00:43:30 And she was getting to it. Yeah. And they got Odyssey Sims who can handle the ball, who's a point guard, the National Championship team at Baylor with Kim Mokie and Gumbulli. She can go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:47 But it's going to take them a while to get to get their little they get their little rather back they still got a little what you call them they'll pick it up Becky are like hey look here what y'all doing
Starting point is 00:44:00 right y'all coming here just going through the motion y'all ain't trying to win y'all ain't trying to repeat y'all seem to be really really complacent y'all have got this big money oh so I see what it is now y'all don't got these million dollar contracts
Starting point is 00:44:14 y'all ain't hungry no more there you go huh there you go hey hey okay yeah you see this is what they tried to say. This is why they tried to suppress it for so long. You guys don't got fat.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Like the old people, you say, boy, you don't got on that hog, huh? Yeah. You ain't hungry no more. Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:40 They're going to get it together. They're going to get it together. Y'all need to fix it. Don't need to fix it. Damn. So. But congratulations to the Dallas wings. Jessica Shepherd.
Starting point is 00:45:00 22 points, 20 rebounds, 20s. That's a hell of a, that is a hell of a triple double for a lady. Yeah, yeah. That is crazy. Crazy. Let's see what, uh. Becker's at 20. Fudd had 22.
Starting point is 00:45:18 I mean, I mean, all they do is, Yukon, all they do is produce number ones. Ooh. Boy, they're so sick with it. Sarah Strong going to be a number one when she comes out. Fudd was number one Becker's was number one Tina Charles was number one
Starting point is 00:45:34 Maya Moore was number one Stuie was number one Tarazi was number one Was Sue Byrd number one or was she number two? I don't know I know she was up that on Damn No let us again Sue Bird
Starting point is 00:45:55 Tarazi Charles Moore Stewie Becker's Fud I know he got a hell of a system now he's producer He producing them out of there. Each one, teach one.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Former W NBA first round pick, Haley Van Liff, has been waived by the Connecticut Sons. Van Liff only played nine games for the son, but she was averaging 8.1, shooting 49% from the floor. And she was shooting like 40-something percent from the three-point line playing only 17 minutes. This is less than a month after she was waived by the Chicago Scott. Joe.
Starting point is 00:46:33 And she got some game, bro, a little lefty. She's nice. Yeah. I'm like, what's really going on? Is she injured? No, she ain't injured. She's coming off any type of injury, especially for someone. Oh, Cho, she didn't been cut by two teams over the past two months.
Starting point is 00:46:50 Yes. Something is happening. Something is happening. Something internally that we don't know about. And the only thing I can think about to get cut, to be drafted as high as you were, and they get cut by two teams in, you know, a couple of months, it got to be something. I can see if she was just, you know, stiff or something and couldn't play. This girl can play.
Starting point is 00:47:09 She's got to be a rotational place. With those kind of numbers, Joe, in 17 minutes, she gives you eight points shooting 49% from the floor. I think she's shooting 40 plus percent from the three. And you mean to tell me the people that you have on your roster are that much better than her that you can't find no playing time? That's hard to believe, bro. Something ain't right.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Because she's nice. I'm talking about for real, Ocho. She can play, bro. Yeah. Yeah, she can. And. A guy tweeted at this point, I have to wonder, There's some level of bias of politics involving WMBA teams.
Starting point is 00:47:43 Haley Van Liff is a legitimate rotational guard who can contribute and compete and bring actual fan interest to the floor in a league that struggles times with offensive offensive consistency and must watch moments. It makes zero sense to move on from a player who brings visibility, energy, and engagement. Like I said, if she's averaging one point a game, I get you. But she's averaging eight points of game. So basically, she's scoring like a point every two minutes. Yeah, I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:48:11 You know, when you're behind the scenes, you don't really know what's going on, whether it's an attitude, whatever it is, but that just don't make no sense to me, bro. Zero. Zero sense. Number one hits, millions of records sold, awards, sold out tours.
Starting point is 00:48:28 You think that Jonas Brothers are satisfied? Nope, it's podcast time. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Hey, Jonas is available now, and their first guest is a big one. Paul Rudd. You know, Steve Carell is a great singer.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Can you tell you not to audition at the office or something? I told him. Whoa. We were filming Anchor Man. Clearly, I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me, right? Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
