Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to an iHeart podcast. Max Cruz sent a group text to his Cav teammates before game five. If you don't believe, don't show up for work. He went 0 for 9 in the elimination game. He didn't believe. When these guys do this stuff and try to be leaders, you just don't lead because you're in the playoff. You got to lead the whole season.
Starting point is 00:00:42 That's when your leadership shows there. You wouldn't have to do that. Guys, since the urgency season. That's when you're leaving the show there. You wouldn't have to do that. Guys, since the urgency of kick in, he wouldn't have to do that. I mean, the cat, you know, that's my hometown. It's just something, they just a regular season team. They're not a playoff team. They don't have, they're not fit for the playoff.
Starting point is 00:00:59 They talent don't, don't resonate with the playoff. You know, you got the two bigs, both do the same thing. They're not really scores. They put them in pick and roll. You don't resume with the playoff. You know, you got the two bigs both do the same thing. They not really scores. They put them in pick and roll. They that physical. I mean, you know, dollar, you know, he tried. He got hurt again.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Some see like the press to hit him. You know, the pressure hit him and he went six to four games. You got at least make it to the Easter Cup final. You're supposed to. You're not supposed to lose three. You're not supposed to lose three, you're not supposed to lose four one. And not three games at home out of the four one. All three.
Starting point is 00:01:32 All three at home, all three of your home games you lost. I can see what you told. And you had a lead the first two games, you gave those first two games away Oak. Well, like Boston did. They had a lead 220. So that's why I say it's up in the air, you know? But I think, at all these teams play hard,
Starting point is 00:01:51 you gotta just wait till they get there and pick between them two. Because like I said, Jemma got a big game tomorrow with OKC. OKC is grinding, you know? That series might go six, might go seven, but you know. It's game six tomorrow. I believe it's gonna go seven, Oak you know. Yeah, it's game six tomorrow. I believe it's gonna go seven.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I believe the Nuggets gonna win and gonna go seven. You think Nuggets gonna win, wow. I think the Nuggets gonna win game six and the series is gonna go seven, gonna go back to OKC. Okay, so who you think gonna win out of OKC? You know what, I think if the Nuggets, I believe the Nuggets gonna win game six. They can get it to game seven, I think the Nuggets gonna win game six, they can get it to game seven
Starting point is 00:02:25 I think the Nuggets will win it. So it'd be another matchup like last year in the Western Cup final. Yeah. Wow, that'd be dig. And then if New York be ending, that'd be last year semi-final in the Eastern Cup final. Yes. First of all, you really need the Knicks to make it because nobody else is gonna generate ratings. Yeah. Indiana, don't nobody wanna see no Indiana.
Starting point is 00:02:49 I'm sorry, Indiana. I thank you. Halliburton, I love Hallie. Hallie's playing unbelievable. I like how they get up and down. I mean, it's a very exciting brand of basketball to watch, but they're not gonna... New York, you got New York, that big market. The market in general.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And then they got fans all across the country. They're not gonna, New York, you got New York, that big market, the market in general, and they got fans all across the country. So you're gonna have to pair New York with somebody. Well, they would probably love to be New York and Minnesota. New York and Minnesota would be a good match. Yes. Cause the Ant Man is rising up.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Yep, I agree, I agree. It is rising up. Gigi Jackson says the Grizzlies call players they target on defense pigeons and that their goal is to go after guys like Nikola Jokic and Steph Curry. Let's take a listen to what Gigi had to say. During the walkthrough when we go over to matchups the very next slide is pigeons and we'll have whoever the players are for pigeons. You know, when we try to play the Nuggets, we want to get Jokic in a lot of ball screens with guys really like going full speed downhill at him.
Starting point is 00:03:56 You know, he's not really the best at the rim, but make sure he keep the ball protected because you know, he can get his hands in there to slide down. But who else uh well the warrior series you want to get curry uh in a lot of a lot of screens iso situations like that but it's definitely discussed a lot if we can get these guys you find yourself in the iso now oh i didn't i didn't been in the company better not be a pigeon so i'm a pigeon hey hey we do the same thing in football too now. Yeah. We go over the defense plan, you know?
Starting point is 00:04:30 Oh, we got a pigeon, the weak link, there's always a weak link. Oh, it always, who are we going to attack? The defense, the court make it only nothing. I ain't saying that publicly. Oh, okay. Well, shit. I would. You talking about guys that got three MVPs
Starting point is 00:04:48 between the two of them and five, and two of the 75 greatest players they ever played. But also, even with those accolades, right, on their resume, on defense, they what? A liability. Liability. Yeah, they understand that. But Yogi's gonna give you 60, 20, and 12.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Yeah. Steph Curry, Steph Curry go make 15 threes on you. Yeah, you right. And you talking about a pit. You right. The question is, can you expose them, can you exploit them more on defense than they can exploit you on offense? Ah.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Well, Lucas showed it can be done. Yes. And it, it, it, it, because in LA rotation, he can't rotate, he can't get loose ball. He just, he's just there. I mean, yeah, he can score, get to the free throw line, but in the long run, you need 50-50 balls. Right. And you got to get some of them. You gotta make defense work. Because when the LA was trying to double team, you didn't double team, but it slowed back and get back in their rotation to get back to the ball or get back to the basket or get back to the body.
Starting point is 00:05:52 So it's a lot of work when you double team. That's why he always want to be on the back line because you know when he come up, he get exposed. And I think the thing is, is that Luca, every year come playoff time, he wears down. You know, he got these nagging injuries, he's limping. I mean, he's 26, but he's moving like he's 38. He's got a bad body, Sandy.
Starting point is 00:06:15 He's 6'7", he's 2'40", but he ain't muscle. He's fat. He's a fat weight more. Yeah. You know, his body's like, your body only gives you so much natural. You got to prepare for the moment. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 You can, you know, like, like JJ said, JJ said, we got to be in playoff and championship shape. We just can't be in regular season shape, but you know, they don't work out. What's the season get going now? They do linen stuff. So you can get out of shape. You can be in shape because you got the ball in your hand, but later on the season, when people start running, you run around and you can see that, wow, my condition is
Starting point is 00:06:54 not there, but it's a new, it's a new style of basketball now. Yeah. They try to get in shape while they're playing and then you can't be drinking and eating bad food. Hey, they need, and you just saw, I saw the report too, that, uh, a Oak and, um, um, the Lakers are looking for and trying to hire a strength and can get strength and conditioning coach. That's kind of bad.
Starting point is 00:07:19 I mean, I mean You saw my LA one two three top franchise ever you tell me that's an idea discussion That's a strike along the on the franchise. I think well, I know the Mavs are looking for a strength and conditioning coach Yeah Why didn't look at Luke left them But I guess a D and Kyrie Got your guys going down, but you know Oh a lot of the top guys have their own guys. Yeah But how you make all in the eight five years in a row and you in a state that's I mean, at his level. But how do you make all NBA five years in a row and you ain't in state?
Starting point is 00:08:06 That's, I mean, I mean, don't play those. I mean, it's just all offense. They could critique you all, all NBA. It can't be defense. Yeah. No, he ain't, he ain't gonna make the difference. It's just one thing. You have to go with 25.
Starting point is 00:08:20 It got to be if you have to go with 25 points, you all NBA. Basically. Hey, honestly, if the Lakers knew it was right, they wanna bring somebody in to help Luca. He might be the only one who has a deficiency in that area as far as wearing down and having small knickknacks and injuries towards the end of the season. I mean, their best bet for them to do was to bring me in.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Cause I can, I can- You might not want me to say it. What's up? Sometimes, you know, like when CC played for the Yankees, he lost that weight, he lost the fastball. And then that Luke, he lose weight. You know, he might lose something. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:59 He might not be able to jump into your pump like three, four times. Sometimes he might need that weight to make his game go. Right. But you know what? Oh, you watch the European players. You was in when they had, when Sabonis was in the league. Sabonis in Portland.
Starting point is 00:09:15 You were in the league with the head, Sharunas, Marcellonis, Tony Cool Coach, all those guys. They look the same. Those European guys, that's their body. They take out, you've never seen a European body, a European guy with muscle, with calf on his shoulders and built like that. But you've never seen one. Look at, look at a Jokic, look at Przingus, look at Sabonas, look at all those guys. They built the thing.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Yeah. They probably never used, gotten into lifting weights and stuff. No. It might be a European thing. Right. You're right. It's not important. They might just use band jumping rope and stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yep. I believe that's what it is. We talked about LeBron tweet last night. This is what he said. Oak Hallie effing Hooping. Where's the lambs who said he was overrated. Quiet as hell. That boy Knights even more someone everyone would love to play with.
Starting point is 00:10:04 This is what Rachel Nichols said, if you look at how many players even answered who's overrated question only 90 of the 450 players in the NBA then you see only 14.4% of the 90 voted for Tyrese Halliburton. It massed out to 13 guys. Obviously it should have been zero but the NBA is the most petty league on earth. Oh What do you think about the player are we making are we making too much out of this third basically 13 players Said Halle was overrated. I Mean, yeah, we making too much out of it I think he's a great team really he'd do it
Starting point is 00:10:43 For his team to win. And you know, he come and try to have a 25-point. There's a team that moved the ball around, everybody get the ball, it's an open guy. And you know, the team must feel happy with what he do night in, night out. They gave him a guarantee. You know, they gave him the stint
Starting point is 00:10:59 in like two years ago. A year ago. Yeah, and plus he's on the dream team. Yeah. And I think that he's a good kid. He the face, uh, you know, for the Pacers, uh, like I said, they back to back Eastern come, you know, finals. So they, every team needs a guy, you know, you gotta be the guy that have a 25% of need that guy that you can go to and know that he gets your back and he
Starting point is 00:11:24 seemed like he's a real general guy and, you know, the team may praise him. So, Hey, you know, people always say this and that about your game, but long as you know what you bring to your team, that's all that matters. Oh, I told, I told, right. I said the players that actually voted that might've said something. I just said, they only said it because his game wasn't aesthetically pleasing it wasn't nice to watch it's beautiful watch goddamn Kyrie Irvin it's beautiful to watch Shade, he does you know it's been beautiful to watch Steph shoot threes and
Starting point is 00:11:57 come off picking roles and and picking pop and all that stuff it's beautiful to watch Kevin Durant you know come off something and pull up, pull up in the middie. But when you watch Halliburton is not pretty, but he gets the job done. Either job done. He gets the second, second, third tier guy. He's not in the top tier of the NBA, but you know what? Everybody that have a guy on the team to be the leader, be the captain. So he's that guy.
Starting point is 00:12:21 So if you only have a 25, but they still win, that's what best for the team. So, you know, everybody into the crossover behind your back, uh, and one cognitive fitness at the rim, courage, shoot one leg, half full shot. You know, it's coming down to good Duncan or everybody, you know, AD, you know, do what he do, but that will make your team go LeBron to the tape for this team, give everybody involved. I mean, everybody got a different job. When you're a leader, my thing is when you at the last two years, it's hard to
Starting point is 00:12:52 pick his game in a bad way because the team is there. It's a team effort. Right. And he's at the stake of the team. Oh, tell us about the cooking bitches. How did you learn how to cook? Man, I learned, um, basically, you know, my family, big time cooking, grandparents, mother, aunts, and sisters. But my thing is my rookie year, you know, I had some, you know, some skills already, but traveling a lot, this and that, going in and out of the hotel, you know, my rookie year basically I had a lot of bets on the team, but, um, you know, I just like going to these restaurants.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I just got tired of it. It's just still doing a little thing. You know, either burgers, spaghetti, uh, steak, potatoes, uh, little pasta and you know, the breakfast food. So I just started adding on to, adding on to it. But, uh, as I got good and good, all the guys on the team started coming over to eat, you know, I thought, you know, making the know making the team thing bringing everybody together you know and all that and I just fell in love with it and it's relaxed me. Yeah. I thought you cooked for Jay-Z you cooked for Jordan you cooked
Starting point is 00:13:55 for Oprah what did what did you what did you cook what did you cook for Hov? Um so basically it was that MJ for the birthday party in DC. And I was, you know, like I said, Jay Z, we was playing cards, Beyonce, everybody, Bob Johnson. I mean, it was a lot of people. So it was a birthday party. We got snowy at the Ritz. And so at the Ritz in Washington, they got two tiles, North and South tile.
Starting point is 00:14:20 So I was in the condo, MJ was in the rooftop. So we ended up having a part after his birthday and basically cooked two days in a row. I mean, I just went to the store. We just got a lot of food and you know, they just had a good time. But I do a lot of things like that and bikes. I give guys my, uh, my likings to, you know, put it on a charity and auction me off and they bid on me.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Matter of fact, I got one in Syracuse, New York in about two weeks, going to cook for like 50 people. Basically, I can do that by myself. But it's just something that I just love to do. And I really like to see a smile on people's face. And everybody said, well, you know, this and that, because I'm picky. You know, I mean, I said something back in the minute. You know, my thing with me is I know when I put my heart and soul in,
Starting point is 00:15:05 I don't want somebody sending my food back to me. So I'm gonna make you a drink. What's your favorite thing to cook, Oak? Oh man, I tell everybody it's me, but I don't know. I try to cook what you like. I'm good. I'm like the alphabet. A to Z, all 26. I can do 23 different things. Hey, you know how dope that is, Uncle?
Starting point is 00:15:24 They had that in your toolbox, you know? You know how to cook. Man, that's, I think one of the greatest things they ever have in your toolbox as a man. If you have money, if you don't have money, but if you can cook, oh, and you can play an instrument. If you can cook and play an instrument and if you got, and you want to add the cherry on top, know how to sing as well. If you can play a different thing on top know how to sing as well
Starting point is 00:15:51 well if you can play anything and know how to cook i can hey chad i can play spades and big whiz yeah see that's it now i'm talking now that's how you're gonna get me to come to the cook that's how you're gonna give me the club because now you're talking about language oh you're talking about the spades plays and being with yes because you know, if you went to an HBCU, you went to a black college, if you can't play spades, and if you can't jone, you in, boy, you in trouble. Big trouble. You in trouble. Oh yeah. Hey, I'm a spadeologist. So I'm the highest ranking, like you know, you got the grandmaster and chess. Okay. We go out there and say, we're gonna have to get together. You bring up partner, I bring up partner. Okay, we can do that. We can do that.
Starting point is 00:16:28 They tell me Atlanta, we go, hey, I'm telling you. Let me see, how you, do you play big joker, little joker, how you play? I can play big joker, little joker, no joker, just ace, king. I don't mess with deuces. Okay, good, okay, see now,
Starting point is 00:16:43 you know people play deuces down with deuces, play big joker, little joker. When they talk about deuces, good. Okay, see, nah. You know people play deuce or diamond deuce and play big joker, little joker. When they talk about deuce, I tell them I ain't playing. I don't wanna play with no deuce. You got two big, you got big joker, little joker, then you got two deuces, nah, nah, nah. Okay, okay, okay. Okay, we play big joker, little joker, ace, key.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Yeah, some people don't play no jokers. Yeah, I don't like playing like that, nah. I ain't playing like that. I got a team, I got a team, huh? Who? Me and you, spades game against Oak and Jordan. Oh yeah. You don't know how to play, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:17:17 I know how to play spade, what you talking about? I'm a spadeologist too. Hey yeah, that'd be a good one. Hey, uh, we, uh. Hey. Hey, whatever, whatever y'all. Hey, that'd be a real good one. Oh yeah, absolutely. I Hey, whatever Oh, yeah, absolutely whatever y'all want to bet to Do you
Starting point is 00:18:06 We don't do not for fun No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no play them. Hey, oh, oh, y'all still play talk? Every now and then that was the, that was the thing we played on the plane and back in the rookie days. Yeah. People don't play talk no more. They play poker and they be with us. Oh, yeah. I love to play too.
Starting point is 00:18:19 We used to play, we used to play in between too. Y'all play in between? Oh yeah. No, the basketball player. I play with a lot of football players. They love that in between to y'all play in between oh yeah now the basketball player I played with a lot of football players that's look I'm just a boo and boo right right right now that will will play too much we're a football guy football guys. That was Drew Hill first. Favorite thing.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Rest is on Drew. Drew Hill. RIP, Drew Hill. He's a man. Yep. So what's on the cooking journey? You got, because you were on a cooking show. So are you looking to do another reality show about you?
Starting point is 00:19:06 A Bob, you know what? No, no, no, my book is out there. I have to force her. Yeah, so I put I put my cooking book on hold, but I'm gonna come out with that this year. So, you know, I was on Chopped. I've been on a lot of different cooking shows. I did it in Toronto. I did like three or four shows.
Starting point is 00:19:22 So this year, I'm going to speak things back up because, you know, my wife, we all know how white, I did like three or four shows. So, this year, I'ma speak things back up. Because, you know, my wife, we on the Atlanta housewife, you know, I don't know, it is what it is. So, we gonna finish that up and we gonna move on to the next thing. And I'ma get my cookbook out and we gonna try to do some other stuff. All right, O, we gonna get you out of here on this one. If the Knicks make the NBA Finals, are you going to a game? I'm going to a game,
Starting point is 00:19:49 according to who they playing on the road. I mean, right now, I've been banned from the Garden, so I don't wanna, I got jumped on twice. I don't wanna get beat up again. So sometimes it takes you longer to last than twice. Do it, man, do I need to put a call in the door and say, look here, man, man, that's Oak. He a fan favorite.
Starting point is 00:20:13 He a crowd favorite. He a New York favorite. You got to have Oak in the building. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to see what happens. I've been trying to get things situated with him. He just one of them guys, I call them Trump nephew.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Well damn, you ain't helping. I tried to get you in, you tried to stay out. I ain't calling them dinner nephew. Okay. I'm Trump nephew. Oh, okay. I'm trying to, I'm trying to get you in and you trying to stay out. Man, hey, sometimes, hey, I'm used to the colds though. I got a jacket.
Starting point is 00:20:52 All right, last question. Give me your Mount Rushmore power forwards. Your power forward, give me your four guys that you're gonna put on Mount Rushmore. So is your keem a center or power forward? Center. Wow, I'll say, okay, so I summer go with um, so I'm gonna fire Okay, oh, I mean, you know, okay, I'm gonna give you a cat mckayle
Starting point is 00:21:25 Quarantine why I call my lawn will give him flag, you know, sometimes we don't always see eye to eye. You don't see eye to eye with, and a whole lot of people you see eye to eye with. Or else, like the guy from Auburn, he weighs about 400 pounds, he the third. Oh, Charles. Oh, bitch. Yeah. Barb. And then I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna stay old school, I'm gonna
Starting point is 00:21:42 give it to this shit wild and crazy ass. Man, hold up, how you lead Tim Duncan off? I'm gonna give it I'm gonna give it I'm gonna stay old school. I'm gonna give it to see why the crazy ass How you leave Tim Duncan off you said Tim doctor the center Tim a forward, okay. Well, I'm sure I'm a star over there. I'm gonna go Tim Duncan Okay Charles Barkley call Malone. All right See Barclay, Carl Malone. All right. I'm leaving Steve. Steve, Derek Colman, you know, Yonis, them guys, you know, I think all of them guys the
Starting point is 00:22:12 same. Yeah. Right. So if you had a team, who do you want? I know y'all probably going to take Yonis. Yonis, uh, Gene Wallace. No, no, my first, my first, if I power forward, I'm... No, Yonis looks like Steve Wallace. Huh?
Starting point is 00:22:25 Yarny or Sheen Wallace? Yarny. Ooh. Over Rashid? Yeah. Ooh. I don't know. I'm taking Sheen.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I take Yarny. Sheen should have been the best power forward ever. Two to three, mid-frame. But Yarny doesn is nothing better than him. But dribbling the ball off the court. Finish? No. He's playing against all the little kids on the pool.
Starting point is 00:22:54 That's why. He's playing against who he's playing against, Oak. Man, I know. He's been back in the eighties and nineties. I got told somebody, he probably been on the bench because he can't make free throws and couldn't shoot a jump. My jump was better than his. My free throw was better than his. He's like I told somebody he probably been on the bit because the game makes me go to consumer jump Hmm, but my job was better than his my free goes better than here. He does a better athlete. Yeah, y'all the roughed him up though
Starting point is 00:23:13 He went to game in there Wait, I think I'm the lead you had to come in the league with it Okay, tell people how they can follow you on social media. What's your handle on IG? I'm realo34 And I'm on Twitter, you know me the enforcer. Yeah. Oh, all right 34 the enforcer Hey, hold on. Hold on Before you go. Oh, you got to do me a favor, right? We're in the NBA playoffs and during NBA season in general. I have a hit list of players You know that I've challenged that I have a hit list of players that I've challenged,
Starting point is 00:23:45 that I have to play when we have some time. Joe Johnson, who else, who else? Antoine Walker. Kenyamaran Antoine Walker, Iso Joe, I already said Iso Joe, who else we got? Who else on my hit list? What's y'all doing though? Oh, I'm playing Airbody 101, right?1. Playing everybody 1-1-1, right?
Starting point is 00:24:05 So I need you to do me a small favor. I need you to tell Jordan I need to get a 1-1-1 with him. 1-1-1? Yeah, right, right, right. I don't tell him I don't want no excuses. I don't want to hear nothing. We can go to 11. I'm spotting five right now.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Oh. Yeah, I'm like, OK, if you see me play, you understand why I said that. I ain't counting your game out, I'm just saying. Don't count me out. He's staying right up for the moment, so you know, he got a couple of shoes, wouldn't that be a good one though?
Starting point is 00:24:34 Okay. You go to the left, you gonna get him five? Absolutely, and he get the ball first. I'm one of them puns, oh. You might not see it no more. I play football. He literally had to get the ball first, you give it him five. Nah, nah, nah, nah, listen, listen, I'm one of them puns. I'm one of them. You might not see him no more. I just think I play football. He's Lindsey, I give you the ball first, you give him the five.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Nah, nah, nah, nah, listen, listen, I'm a gentleman. I respect my elders. Okay, well he's older, so I understand that. They always tell me, if somebody owes you in the group, you gotta respect. When they're young, they gotta respect me. Absolutely. That's how that go.
Starting point is 00:25:01 All right, oh, hey, when I'm in Atlanta, I'm gonna hit you up, man, let's go grab a bite. All right, and we gonna play the Spades, too. Yeah, okay. Oh, hey when I'm in Atlanta, I'm gonna hit you up man. Let's go grab a bite All right, and we gonna play this phase two. Yeah. Okay. Oh, yeah Hold on. Hold on. What's it? What's the money? Live? What we bad? I know we know I don't know thousand again That's it. I'm just saying no start Popping you buy in again, so we start off go up. Okay You buy in a park when you buy in again, so we start off go up. Okay What we go to what we go what we going to 300 or 500 300 okay good cool
Starting point is 00:25:39 For the whole hand Say bag you go over Play okay, you found back you and you said back you ain't try to get 300. Hey, don't worry about my hand You bet your hand don't worry about don't tell me you say it back. You bet your way. Don't care I like handbag. I mean you ain't trying to win you say it back. No, I'm trying to set you You play you play two steps and over No, we don't that's what I'm asking. Do you play like that? I play whatever I don't think I play first hand You get ten that's 200 When I don't play no blinds
Starting point is 00:26:19 No, okay What a boss I'm gonna run a Boston after my well I'm gonna run a Boston. Hey, I could already tell we already won Everyone we got this one Wait, hey, stop they was talking about all that you all right All right. All right, Ted. Love. Oh man, that's my dog there, man.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Me and Oak go back a long, long way, Ocho. He used to come down to the track, work out with us. He'd come to the gym, work out with us. Hey, we'd go eat after working out. Oak right there. So like I said, we'd go back without, he's one of the first guys that welcomed me. He was already in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:27:02 So he welcomed me to Atlanta when I moved there in 94. And we've been cool. We've been hanging ever since. Yeah, that's live. That's live. All right, Ocho. Derrick Harder and the Baltimore Ravens reached an agreement today on a two-year, $30 million extension. That includes $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons per Todd France, athletes first. It's the largest deal in NFL history for a running back over the age of 30.
Starting point is 00:27:29 And Henry is 31. Yeah, I mean, right. You like it? Right. Absolutely. Absolutely. Rightfully so. You know what you get. You know what you get. You know what you're going to get from him.
Starting point is 00:27:39 You understand how he take care of his body. He's a model citizen in the community, on the field. So there's really no reason not to reward him for what he's gonna do in the future. You're not paying him for what he's already done. You're paying him for what you know he's gonna do in the future because he takes care of his body. And so based on the team they have around him,
Starting point is 00:27:59 you know he's gonna be productive no matter what. Because the onus of the offense isn't just predicated on him by himself. You got to worry about that quarterback. Bingo. So you can pay him that kind of money and understand he won't be all right. I love it. I love the deal.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I love the Ravens have always been a team that will reward their players. So I have no problem with this deal. Running back James Cook, applause the deal, congrats. He steals without an extension. He wants 15 per year. He was on the show, he was like, hey, I think I've shown my worth, I've shown my value. As of right now, the bill's like, okay,
Starting point is 00:28:38 they don't seem to be like they're doing, they don't seem to be like they're doing anything. Obviously they tied up Josh Allen. They got him tied up. I think they redid Russo. I think they redid his deal. So it's gonna be very interesting to see how this thing plays out. They have until, you know, at some point in time before the season to get a deal done. I think they won't get it done for him. I think they're gonna get it done for him because one of the things that relieves some of the pressure off of Josh Allen is not the receiving core, it's having that young bull in the backfield. Him being able to not only
Starting point is 00:29:12 carry the ball and take some of the pressure off Josh Allen, but being able to catch the ball out the backfield as well. He can do so much. He's a Swiss Army and I think he can do so much for them offensively. They got to reward him. Again, another one who you can pay going forward based on what he's going to do in the future because he's young. You got to take care of him. You got to. I agree. Devon Aitchine spoke about Dolphins being labeled as a soft team. We're going to show when the season comes. Everybody who's saying those little
Starting point is 00:29:43 remarks, let's make sure you keep that same energy. This year's team is way different than last year's team. Ocho, are the Dolphins a soft team? Listen, until we, and I'm saying we, because I'm from Miami, born in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Dade County, I'm from Liberty City, right? And we've been soft every time it comes to, every time it comes to playing in cold weather.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Until we play Miami football in weather below 50 degrees We are going to be continued to be called soft. Yeah. Yeah, I don't care nothing about what a Chan is talking about We are soft when it comes to playing in cold weather and that is what we've been proven since the goddamn 80s Yes, until we win a cold weather game We saw But I mean, you know, until you are able to beat teams and do what you're supposed to do, because what happens is Ocho is that you beat the team, you know, you beat down on teams, but when you step up and you don't get it done. Yeah. So, uh, you guys are going to have to y'all, y'all would have to, uh, show.
Starting point is 00:30:50 I see better not here. I hear what you're saying, Devon, but you have to show me come season time. After the NFL, uh, after today's NFL schedule release, no game is currently more in demand than the Cowboys Eagle season opener, which has an average ticket price of $1,743. The next highest is the Chiefs Dallas on Thanksgiving, which is 1,491. And then Sunday Night Football Pack of the Cowboys at 1,295.
Starting point is 00:31:19 The opener Sunday night game, Baltimore Buffalo, 1,183. And you got the Jets, Buffalo, week 18, $1,169. Hey, boy, them prices, boy. Yeah, yeah. Like the goddamn Super Bowl, nosebleed. Them Super Bowl nosebleed ticket prices. Oh, you definitely ain't getting no 50 yard line, not with the Cowboys and Eagles.
Starting point is 00:31:41 You ain't sitting nowhere near no 50 yard line. Hell nah. Hey, you know what that, I'm gonna go to McCall, that's the George Pickens effect. No, that's the Cowboys Eagles effect. You got, cause think about it, you opening up with the Super Bowl champs and you got the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Cause that's already a big gain because everybody's been clamoring for the NFL season to start. So now it's starting It's that Thursday after Labor Day and now you combine the Cowboys. Yeah. Yeah, now I think the biggest game of the year Regular season is gonna be Cowboys Chiefs That's that Thanksgiving day game. Yeah, that's that's a good little everybody sitting around watching Oh Joe Cowboys? That game already does 40 million.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Now you bring Patrick Mahomes. And let the game be close. Let the game go into the fourth quarter of the final drive. Right. Man, you talking about, you might get 50 million. Yeah, but imagine this. Imagine if the Cowboys having a good season. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Well, you know, they win 10, 11, 12 some games, or they end that good by the time you get to November. Man, shh. Ain't no time. Adam Schafter thinks the NFL draft lottery would be a home run for the league. What you think, Ocho? Keep it the same. Keep it the same. Keep it the same. Keep it the same. I mean, I like it.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I saw Ryan Clark tweet it out as well. Adam Shepard tweeted out as well. I just like the format the way it is now. The teams that don't have the talent that they need or deserve need to get the best products available coming out of college. Well, we will keep you all from tanking. Wait, you can't tank, you can't tank in the NFL. Yeah, you can.
Starting point is 00:33:30 How? It's impossible. Not play your best player? All of a sudden he got, he got an injury. Yes. injury. Look, I think the thing is, look, I just don't, um, it would be very interesting to think that you don't, you don't know who go get Travis Hunter or who gonna get Cam Ward. Not the team because the team that in basketball that lost the most games didn't get, going to have the draft rights to Cooper flag. So just imagine Ocho. I like it but it might be
Starting point is 00:34:09 Ocho it might be a team that got it. What if it's Carolina got the first pick of the draft. Now I can trade that pick Ocho and get me a King's Rancor. Mm-hmm. Yeah you right. What if it's a team that has a quarterback, you know, the fella a little hard time? Yeah, quick. Look at the flip side of it though. What if it's a team like, hell, the goddamn Eagles just won the Super Bowl. No, the Eagles wouldn't be in the lottery. The top, basically top 15 teams. Okay, okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Okay, now that, now that I like, now I like that idea. Now you take the cream and the crop out of it. Yeah. At the bottom. The eagle and the cheese ain't got no ping pong balls. I like that, I like that, I like that, I like that. Now that idea I like. Okay, Ocho, pro football focus for all Travis Hunter upcoming wide receiving
Starting point is 00:35:06 combo matchups and roll welcome to the NFL. Travis Hunter, which matchup are you most excited about in week one? It's a Macmillan. What is Arizona? Not Arizona. You need to know. Uh, no, that's Carolina. He would Carolina, but he went to Arizona from Arizona.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Week two from Arizona. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Week two, Jamar Chase. Week three, Nico Collins. Week four, Brandon Iuke. Week five, Rashid Rice. Week six, Jackson Smith and Jigba. Week seven, Pooka Nakua. Week 10, Nico Collins. Week 11, Lad McConkie.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Week 12, Marvin Harrison Jr. Week 15, Garrett Wilson. Week 18, Cort McHank, Lad McConkie. Week 12, Marvin Harrison Jr. Week 15, Garrett Wilson. Week 18, Cortland Sutton. Week 16, excuse me. Now, week one, J.C. Horn. Week three, Derek Stingley Jr. Week five, Trent McDuffie. Week six, Devon Witherspoon.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Week 10, Stingley Jr. Week 13, Ligeria Sneed. Week 14, Trevarius Ward. Week 13, Ligeria Sneed. Week 14, Javarius Ward. Week 15, Sols Gardner. Week 16, Pat Sertan. Week 17, Ward again. Week 18, Sneed again. Ooh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Hey. He got to be on his A. Nico Collins and Stingley Jr. in the same game. He got to be on his A. Nico Collins and Stingley Jr. in the same game. He got to be on his A game. You hear me? Trent Mcduffie, Rashid Weiss, Rashid Weiss or Xavier Worth it in the same game. Got to be on your A game. If there's somebody that's built for it, that has the confidence for it, that has the skill
Starting point is 00:36:40 set, now the only thing he's going to have to do from a technical standpoint, well you got to dot your I's and cross your T's boy. You better, I'm talking about from athletic ability, everything is even now. Yes. Everything is even now. Everybody fast, everybody small, everybody fast, everybody strong, everybody can run. Can jump, can do all, yes. That don't mean nothing. Nope. You gotta be technically sound every goddamn snap.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Every snap. Most times. Every snap. You get no plays off. Woo hoo hoo. Hey, I got chills just thinking about that. I can't wait though. I'm excited for it.
Starting point is 00:37:23 The Chiefs are the first team in NFL history to receive five prime time games in the first eight weeks of a season. In week one, they play the Chargers in Brazil. In week three, they got the Giants on Sunday Night Football. In week five at the Jags, Monday Night Football. Week six, Sunday Night Football versus the Lions. Week eight, they got the Commanders, Monday Night Football versus the Lions. Week 8, they've got the Commanders,
Starting point is 00:37:47 Monday Night Football at home. They also play on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Is Kansas City America's new team? Yeah, absolutely. They're America's new team because they are consistently in the playoffs and consistently damn near the Super Bowl every year and in contention, which is why they have five prime time games.
Starting point is 00:38:06 But even with all the winnings they are doing, you know who will always steal the headlines? The Dallas Cowboys. Oh yeah. No matter what the Chiefs do. No matter what they do. They can win a hundred goddamn Super Bowls. They can be in the playoffs for a hundred years straight. But something about the star will always steal and grab the headlines no matter what.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Which is why they have somewhat of a mid season. Not that good. Hell, they got four prime time games. Mm hmm. You know? Meanwhile, three teams have zero prime time games. No surprise. The Browns, the Titans and the Saints.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Well, I think that's going to change too. I can tell you one thing, at any moment when Shadoura Sanders is the starter for the Cleveland Browns, well, the Pride time gang going to click in next year. Oh, you next year. They ain't coming this year. Ain't nobody flexing to see Cleveland, Tennessee, or the Saints. order sense. Oh Joe this might be the best Thanksgiving Day slate of games in NFL history. Absolutely. Packers at the Lions, Chiefs at the Cowboys, Bengals at the Ravens, bonus Bears at the Eagle on Friday, Black Friday. Hey, classic, classic, all the way across the board.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Quarterback play, look at the quarterback play. Look at it, look at, I mean, wow. Jaden, Jaylen. You got the quarterback play, you got Love versus Golf. You got Mahone versus Dak. You got Lamar versus Joey D. The receiving corps. Loaded.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Yes, yes. I'm excited. Hey, Thanksgiving this year is gonna be a blast for us, Ocho. We're gonna be a blast for us this year, Ocho. And then, you know, Black Friday. Who played Black Friday? Who the Black Friday game? How many games?
Starting point is 00:40:13 Browns at Eagles. I mean, excuse me, Bears at Eagles. It's just one game. Yeah. I like it. I like it. Yeah, man, it's gonna be- One day, DJ Moore. Hold on, I'm gonna be. A Doomsday, DJ Moore.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Hold on, I'm missing somebody. A Doomsday, DJ Moore. They just added somebody. Oh, they just took a tight end in the first round. They took a tight end. Okay. They took that tight end from Michigan, paired it with Colt Comet.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Okay, okay, okay. That's right, because I thought they wouldn't get the one from Penn State. I can't remember, number 44, I can't remember his name. I thought they were gonna take him. The Penn State. I can't remember number 44. I can't remember his name I thought he won't take him the one from Michigan went first. Oh Joe Bravada just released the odds for who will be the next sports media personality to pursue to appear on General Hospital the betting favorite is
Starting point is 00:40:59 Yours truly and plus 900 you Yes, I like that yes. I like that. I like that boy. Get your act on what Charles Barkley and Pat McAfee came in second at plus 950. Shaquille O'Neal came in at plus 1000 Mace and or Cameron came in at plus 1200. Okay. Gil with arenas. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Gil plus 1500 Mina times at plus 2000 Taylor Rooks at plus 3000. Mm. Hey, I can see you, you know, little general hospital bowl. I can see that. I like that. I like that. You know? Yeah, yeah. Get your bowl on the roof, you know. I used to love the soaps. You know, I was big into the young of the restless and bold into beautiful. That's why, you know. I like it. I ain't watching the this, and bold enough to be beautiful. That's my, you know. I like it. I ain't watching the days in my life. As the world turns. Like, saying through an hourglass. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:41:57 That's classic. All right, Ocho, it's time for our final segment of the evening. Oh, man, Oak was unbelievable. We got an hour plus with Oak, man, that was great. Time for our final segment of the evening. Oh man, Oak was unbelievable. We got an hour plus with Oak, man. That was great. Time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q&A.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Lainey Ray. Hello Lainey. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for staying up late. This one is for all the haters. Ramble was a force tonight. Wolves in fives. Again, wolves back.
Starting point is 00:42:26 You know, obviously L Laney is from Minnesota. She's extremely, extremely happy about her wolves. She's all things Minnesota. She loves the bikes. She loves the T-wolves. The Stars, they have a hockey team, got a baseball team, the Twins. They used to be good.
Starting point is 00:42:44 The Wild, Wild, Wild. Dallas Stars.ins. They used to be good. The Wild, Wild, Wild. Dallas Stars. The Twins used to be good when they had Kirby Pluckett. Who else did they have? I think, Bird Blind 11? Jack Morris, I think, pitched for them too. But they used to be, the Twins
Starting point is 00:43:00 used to be good. They won two World Series. But they kind of are falling on hard times right now. So. all right, celebrate Laney. Tyron, what's up Uncle Nocho? What was up with Jimmy Butler? He was not aggressive at all. 11 shots this game, nine shots last game. Tyron, that's what I want to know.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Yeah, I think he- That's what I want to know. Tyron, I really think he hurt. I really think he does. Every time he drives- He hurt people parley. he gets in the paint and throw it back out. Instead of continuing to drive or trying to create a shot or at least draw a foul or do something. He just, I don't know, he was hesitant and I thought maybe the crowd got to him with the boom.
Starting point is 00:43:41 But thinking about it, it's Jimmy Butler. He's been around for a very long time. The crowd booing every time he touches the ball. Really shouldn't affect you at all. Richie Shusaw said, Uncle Nocho, does Ant-Man have all the Infinity Stones now? He got a bunch of them. Yeah, he ain't got the main one yet. He can't snap his fingers yet.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Yeah, he need to get that, he need to get, take somebody on the East. So I guess JT and JB, you gotta get those. But he got, he got A on the West, he got them. He doesn't take out some big ones. Danny Littlejohn, other than Ocho, is it fair to say that injuries to Braun and Curry has made the Wol wolves advance a lot easier
Starting point is 00:44:28 versus the Warriors go seven games with Curry look LeBron got hurt the last game. He wasn't hurt the first the first four games So no now it had been very interesting to see we saw what happened the first game With curry in there, even though he got hurt in the second quarter and they were able to ride that momentum all the way through. It would have been very interesting, but I'm not gonna say LeBron's injury, because LeBron wasn't injured the first four games. Nelson Black, Nicks, Timberland kicks, Michael Vicks, Boston and Seva.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Mark Jasmine said, I'm ready for prime effect this football season. The what ifs will be in full effect. Be on the lookout for the Panthers. I hope the Panthers. I think the quarterback, they got some weapons now. They gave him some weapons in Carolina. I like it. I like what they got.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Bright Young. Dr. Frankie L. Bellamy said, thank you doc. Hey fam, which really shaped, which one really shaped the soul of black music? A tracks, cassettes or CDs? Love y'all. A track. A track, all right.
Starting point is 00:45:35 A track, A track. That's where it all started, huh? Yes. It all started. I'm surprised, I'm surprised she didn't mention vinyls. Yeah. Like Michelle and Diego Cello says, sit back, relax and listen to an eight track. I dig you like an old soul record.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Listen, I'm digging you. I remember them days. I remember you used to go into Ocho and you were like, okay, on your eight track, Ocho, you want, okay, I want this song, this song, this song, this song. I want that song, that song, that song. And then, oh man, had to be quiet though, because you had to go somewhere, because you could hear everything. Yep. Shh, shh. You hear people? Got to start all over again.
Starting point is 00:46:17 But there was, there was the days, you know, you had the incense burning, Ocho. You know what I'm saying? You go get your candles, you get your incense. Oh man. Yeah. Them days ain't coming back, Coach O. No, they not. Them days ain't coming back, Coach O. They not.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Listen, I remember my days in high school, you know, having cassette tapes and having special cassette tapes made for certain moments, you know? For certain moments. And I will never be able to get that feeling and that original feeling of having to hit press rewind and hitting pause. Or pressing rewind and hitting play and having to go back and forth.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Oh man, it's, oh my goodness. All right, Ocho, Ken from Know What Junior. Ocho, my question. What are your top five old school songs by Marvin Gaye? Ooh. Marvin Gaye. I gotta go, I gotta go, let's get it on, huh, Unc? That's number one.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Hurry through the grapevine. What's going on? Come on, old chump. Sexual healing. Sexual healing, yep. Damn it. Distant lover. Distant lover. Distant Lover. Distant Lover. Distant Lover.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Mm-hmm. You know what, we can't sing that because you know the Marvin Gaye States, boy they don't play, they sue, boy. He-he-he-he-he. Ain't no mountain high. I think, wasn't that him and Tammy Terrell? Rest her soul.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Mama Mama, thinking about the Vietnam War. Real. Rest your soul. Mama mama, thinking about the Vietnam War. Marvin Gaye, Marvin Gaye. Can I add, I don't even know, this is, can I add the Star-Spangled Banner he's sitting at the All-Star in 1998? That's not his song though. Huh? That's not his song though.
Starting point is 00:48:20 He is the only person, hey chat, I chat, please listen to me real quick. If you never heard Marvin Gaye sing the Star-Spangled Banner at the 1984 NBA All-Star game, please go listen to that. The only, the only, only Star-Spangled Banner that rivals that would be Whitney Hulson when she sang at her year for the Super Bowl. Yep. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:48:44 It was in Tampa. I've never seen anything like that. That was the for the Super Bowl. Oh my goodness. It was in Tampa. That was the Buffalo Giant Super Bowl 1990. Who? That was the Buffalo Giant Super Bowl in Tampa. Oh, in 1990? Okay. Oh, the year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That Whitney and that Marmigay rendition, how soulful he sang it. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:10 That's why I say when it comes to R&B, Marvin Gaye is on Mount Rushmore. Absolutely. And it's so many too from his era though. It's so many. See they could sing things back then. They could really sing. Cause you had him, you had Teddy Pendergrass, you had Luther Vandross, you had Freddie Jack.
Starting point is 00:49:30 I mean, you had a, yeah, yeah. It goes on and on. It's a long way. Yeah. Guys could make it. They don't make them like that no more, Joe. Nah, nah. They don't make them like that no more.
Starting point is 00:49:38 R&B is not the same in general. Would that be R&B, right? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. It's not the same no more. We talk about begging. We talk about being a rock star. I don't think I'm like that no more. R&B is not the same in general. That would be R&B, right? Yeah. Yeah, oh man, it's not the same no more.
Starting point is 00:49:48 We talk about begging. You talk about begging, and you gotta get your girl back? Ooh, but they was saying it back there, man. And listen, with no shame. None. At all, no shame. With no shame. None.
Starting point is 00:50:03 At all, no shame. Nehemiah Jean-Philippe said, my cousin's family suffered a heartbreaking loss this weekend and are tragically losing their children, five and seven in the car accident. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate an incredible, difficult time. Yes, our thoughts and prayers go out
Starting point is 00:50:21 to your cousin's family. It is so, man, losing a child, no parent should have to bury a child. It was supposed to be the other way around, but that's not always how it works out. And so our thoughts and prayers go out to your cousin's family. Nightcap family, we'll keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and hopefully God give them understanding strength to get through this troubled time. Thank you for sharing that with us. Yeah. Uh, rugby Millie, uh, vlogs, Ocho, words, card and man, make it happen. Please.
Starting point is 00:50:52 He's one of the best teammates. It's coming. Who's one of the best teammates y'all had? Huh? I say, we gon, we gon get your card now. We gon get your card, you know? Who's the best teammate you had, Ocho? The best teammate?
Starting point is 00:51:04 Yeah. Uh, probably, probably TJ, probably TJ being the fact that we were together for so long, we were from in college at Oregon state together, you know, right on, right on Cincinnati. So just that chemistry and that, that continuity with my young bull, man, that's my dog. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Bucket and Burns, Burr bucket was my height was my college teammate. Um, Bucket and Burns. Bucket was my college teammate, met him in 88. Burns was my teammate, 94. We've been best, and those guys have been my two best friends all the way. Yeah. Thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap as the Minnesota Timberwolves advance to the Western Conference Finals
Starting point is 00:51:42 thanks to a 121-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors. They win that series 4-1. The Boston Celtics stay alive thanks to a great performance. Got a lot of contributions all over, but mainly from Derrick White and Jalen Brown, who had 22, I think he had 22 points, no, he had 26 points, excuse me. 12 assists and he had a seven rebounds. He was sensational tonight.
