cut is a free agent he may sign with another NFL or the CFL or return to college but that player is considered a free agent and will not be subject to future draft so in other words you go back to college guess what you can't go back in the draft and get drafted again And if I'm not mistaken, the Big Ten and the SEC rule that players that went to the NFL are not allowed to come back to college. Dang. So guess what that mean, Joe, if you get cut, you better work your ass off to try to get on somebody else practice squad. Because, boy, you were in purgatory. You ain't in heaven, you ain't in hell, but you just, just.

Yeah. I like that. I like that they put that in place. I love it. I like that they put in place. I think it's unfair. If you don't make it in NFL, you don't make it in the NFL. You don't need to be going back to college.

You need to sharpen your tools. Shopping your toolbox, trying to make an NFL team. For one, if I get cut, I'm asking my position coach and my head coach, why did I get cut? What do I need to work on to make another team? How can I be an asset? How can I be valuable if it wasn't to y'all to someone else?

I'm working on my game. That's just me if I was in that situation. Son, that's why I couldn't be a coach at Joe because if you asked me, Well, coach, why did I get cut? Son, you are as sorry as the last good day. And you know Alaska day is the 24 hours. That's how sorry you are.

Son. See, Ocho all nice. Ocho got the man and say, oh, yeah, if you go work on this right here, hey, you go do this right here and you do that right there. So you got a great chance of making the team. No damn well, that man ain't got no chance in hell of making the team. Ocho just lied. That's it.

Listen, no, I'm going to be honest with it. No, you're not. You're not making the team, right? This is what it comes down to, Joe. It comes down to you being an asset and valuable. How are you an asset and how do you become valuable, Joe, because you can do one job better than somebody else. Not only can you do it better than somebody else,

you can do it better than the next person consistently. Yes. We letting you go because you're inconsistent at what you do. You're a liability. I can't put you on the field because you don't, not only do you not know what you're doing, you're really not good at doing it. Yes. Listen, this is how you cure it.

The NFL, the NFL and NCAA, they should have been done this, Uncle Ocho. You can't let these dudes come back because they've seen how ugly this thing was about to get, too. Would all these guys come back? College coaches are going to start recruiting these NFL guys. That's how bad it was going to get. So I'm glad they put stipulations on it. You can't come back to college and then reenter the draft. So I think it'll solve a lot of the problems.

that's been going on with college football, especially as of late, because come on, man, this thing is going to get real ugly. Yeah. Sure. And I think the thing is, that sometimes you just got to put your hand around

and say, son, you got your degree. Well, you might be time, you know, it might be time for you to think about something. Because everybody ain't going to make it, bro. Damn, what? Everybody goes, oh, even if you, even, even the most well-intended coat. Yes.

Sometimes, you're like, oh, and especially if you can't play, special teams. Yeah. At least play the special teams, Ocho, until you're able to, you able to build up an offense or defense and get snaps there. Yeah.

Some people love the game, huh? I know, Ocho. Some people love the game. But listen, they can play arena, they can play arena, if you really love the game. Yeah. If you, CFL.

You might not, CFL. And listen, if you can't, if you can't make it down here. UFL. Hey, hey, hold up, though. Them leagues. Them leagues ain't no sloppters, though. Okay, Ocho.

Joe, week to week, I'm seeing individuals down there in the CFL. Like, bro, what are you doing down here? Like three or four dudes on every team, on every squad.

Ottawa, Toronto. I'm like, Saskatchewan, why are y'all here? It comes down to numbers. It comes down to politics. It's coming out of college. You know, you didn't get the opportunity because of, you know, the red flags or whatnot. Joe, the CFL ain't no joke. And I tell you all the time, they shy away from it because the money ain't like the NFL.

Hell, nah. That's the only reason they really don't understand. Boy, I had to tie my shoes up tight, Joe. I really had to go. I don't know it like that. Like, oh, my goodness. It was, it was eye-opening because I didn't know what to expect because I'd never been there.

I hadn't watched it before. So I'm thinking, honestly, I'm thinking it's going to be easy. Of course. Man and boy, man and boy was out. They gave me that word. You played the highest level, Ocho, and you feel that CFL is a step down. So you feel if you dominated at this, I go down to here. Joe, I'm gonna cook.

He foods. Oh, got a fish. Got a fish over here, Joe. Don't let him off the line. The one thing, if you hook a fish, what you do, Joe? You can't let him loose. Holy, hold him. Don't let him off.

That's dinner. Couldn't fire it out. Hey, he fishing for you. Oh, I got me a fish up here. This was a rule. I don't know why the SEC took so long to ban players. They go to the NFL and then try to come back, because the Big Ten,

was ahead of the curve, big 10 and say, nah, don't y'all take y'all that. Y'all go to the NFL. We wish y'all nothing but the best, but you ain't gonna bring your ass back here and play no sports. Yes, sir. You're not gonna play, you're not gonna play no sport.

Talk about, I had another year. Nah, nah, you should have thought about that. You should have your ass in school. You had another year, you should stay your ass in school. You're not gonna go to the league, get canned up there and then bring your ass, trifling ass back down here. No, hell no.

I'm glad they did this, bro. This is, hey, this was much needed. Hey, hey, hey, the offense, starting hitting the NFL guys, my damn self to send them back to Arkansas. I'll see if they're going to play for the Razor back, huh?

They get us right. We're in the SEC. We're in the best conference. Come on, man. Yes. Yes. Okay. Okay.

And the thing is, though, but I'm glad, hey, look, you can't get redrafted. You can't bring your ass back down here. So, hey, figure it out. And that's what you should have to do. I mean, being an adult is not easy because life happens. Life starts lifing.

And you have, it's just like when you get, let's like, you graduate from college. You can't, you don't get to go back. Oh, I, I ain't get this job. Let me go back to college. You can go back, but you're going to pay. Hello. Hey, figure it out. That's all the part about being an adult.

when I was a kid, I couldn't wait. I used to tell my girl, I can't wait to get grown. Yeah, my grandma said, yeah, I can't wait until you get grown either. And then all of a sudden, you realize you've got to pay bills. You got a lot of responsibilities. Now all of a sudden, I ain't want to be grown. I tell my kids all the time, okay. Ooh, I can't wait.

I can't wait. Okay, I can't wait either. Then they come back, ask for something. I thought you couldn't wait to get grown. You're grown. Grown people don't come back and ask them. I'm a grown people for money. What do they do that in?

When the bill jump down on your hair, hey, well, you need a little help. You have to, hey, it's a little different. Hey, that's what I tell him, Joe. Oh, hold on, you grown, though. You grown, you grown when it comes down, you don't like the rules that I'm implementing. You grown.

It's awakening for a lot of kids, bro, at that age, you know. You get 17, 18, 19. You get in college, Yon-Ocho. Hey, man, everybody ain't going professional. There's only a 1% of cats who are going to do that. So you're going to have to find something else that you enjoy doing. that you can make a living doing or you're gonna be yeah doing something that you that you that your ass hate and you don't want that be a be able to be oh my god yeah

but you know some people got to do it though on the judge somebody got something it's a bunch of yeah yeah the hard pill to swallow especially if your your your dream especially at the child is the one to play at the highest level in the NFL and the harsh and the harsh reality that you're not going to make it. You've got to have a plan B. You've got to have a plan B if you're playing in. You're playing they don't work. I see some people, they prolong it.

They keep trying. They keep trying. I love the people that have the energy to hold the signs up outside of the stadiums, hoping they can get an opportunity. Just bring me on. And I wish they would allow those people that want to do it so bad. Allow them to give an opportunity to do it so they can see how far away they are from really being able to make a team.

So you could actually see how good those dudes really are. It ain't what you think it is. I don't think they understand it unless they're in that atmosphere and on that field and get the opportunity to see. Yeah, I'm not ready, even though I think I am. You're not. You're not as easy as it is watching from TV. You're not going to make that play.

You're not going to make that catch. It's funny how I be listening to people. Oh, you should have did this. Oh, you should have did that. Oh, you really? You think so. What are you? man. Okay. It's hard. Yeah. Because I think the thing is that people, people see

man, you don't look that big. I mean, you look like a normal. Okay. I am. But I guarantee you, you can't get out there, get your ass on that feeling, do what I do. I'm to a point in my career now

that when we practice inside on the art I can feel it the next day, you know, and move out there, I feel great. And I think any guy that was honest would tell you that's how they feel. So one, I think it's healthier injury prevention. I've gotten numerous, numerous burns on my legs from artificial turf, like to the point where I can't sleep at night because it's bubbling over and it, like, it's very painful. So I decided to not have to deal with that at home at least.

I know we still probably will play games on the road that are turf, but if I can snap my fingers and make every field grass, that's what I would do for sure. Oh, Joe, you remember you used to sleep and you getting them burns and you wake up and that sheet's stuck to you, Ocho. Talk to you, yeah. I remember that. I remember that.

That's a part of it, man. Listen, that's a part of the game. I mean, what have we become? Not understanding injuries, people complain about the injuries, oh, the ACF, Yeah, but listen, people are still tearing the ACL and everybody's practicing on grass. Huh? Correct me if I'm wrong, right?

It's training camp. Everybody practicing on grass. People are still getting hurt. You know, the constant dialogue about, you know, turf. I understand. I understand. And I'm not the one to be able to have this conversation with Uncle Joe because I have no place, being that I never got hurt, whether I played on turf or whether I played on grass.

So my opinion really shouldn't matter. Those that have played on turf and have gotten hurt, their opinion matter more than mine. What's under the turf? They got those, they got a field turf, Joe, they got them pellets. Those little, it's like rubber. It's like they cut up tires and stuff and they small little rubber pellets. Okay. Little rubber beads.

Okay. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out why has it hurt so bad playing on the turf versus the grass. But that grass, that grass forgiven. It's so nice and cushioning it. It's just like, oh, Joe, when you look. Growing up, you like playing on that grass. There's something about that grass.

Yeah. Hey. Man, you know the Ocho. See, Ocho looks to play it on Seaman. He don't know no better. He played football on Seaman when he was a kid. He played on the basketball court, catching football, running into the cars and all that stuff. Hey, Joe, we played in the middle of the street.

We did. No shoes. Tangle? Joe. Now, the only time, the only time, yeah, throw a tackle. And the only time you stop, when there's a car coming. Everybody say free.

Yeah. move to the car pass. So I'm, you know, I'm used, I don't know, though. I'm not the right one to ask because I think, I don't know what, I want to stop because I don't want to say the wrong thing. You know what you don't want to say? The players and got too soft. How about this?

How about this? The cold weather cities, you go ahead and go with grass and let me see what you do in November December or going to January. What you're going to do then? If you ain't got those heating coils, you ain't got no chance. chance because the ground going to freeze. And plus the thing you to look to make a long story short and I don't want to make it, I don't want to make it long. I'm going to make a short story long. I'm not going to do that. The money because it costs money, Joe, because after about

six weeks, the field going to be torn up and you're going to have to put new grass down and it help hope for the grass grow and you hope it take. Or you're going to be dealing with a situation like Pittsburgh. Because the problem with Pittsburgh is that they play the pit home games, the pit, panther, the college team, they play in that stadium also. They told that thing. It'd be terrible. I haven't been told you.

It'd be terrible. But that was the advantage for the Steelers back then. Yes. Their field. Their field was beat up. But that was their advantage because offensively, it was very tough, you know, to run your offense where you play the Steelers and you play them Hines Field.

Right. I mean, they running the ball with the bus coming that man. Shoot. Trying to kick. Man, good luck. But the thing is, guys, look, how bad players, NFL players, how bad do you want turf goal? Because we know the owners want one thing more than anything else.

They want that 18th game. This is an opportunity. Negotiate. Negotiate. We want grass fields. the franchise tag gone transition tag gone and one more thing while we're at it

full time full time medical benefits to anybody that played at least five years see that's why they need me as the president oh how about this oh we do okay how about this 10 years you get lifetime benefits five years you get 10 year benefits how about that on Joe

10 years you get you get lifetime medical benefits. If you played at least five years, you get 10 years of medical. Boy, hey, there's going to be some cats trying to hold on, ain't it, man? You think it ain't when they will? Hey, it's going to be some cats trying to squeeze five, boys. Five in football, that's hard, Uncle Ocho. Yeah, I consider the average length is three.

Try to get them benefits, man, lifetime benefits, bro. telling you I'm very fortunate everybody is not as fortunate everybody didn't make the money that I made everybody didn't have the after career NFL career that I had so I'm able to afford life health insurance and things of that nature but boy can you imagine if you had to pay for hips man hips with $103,000 a piece what yeah hell yeah oh well hold on you did both sides I got bilateral absolutely $200,000 hip, why they're still operating. You know what I said?

Mean demonstration. Hey, hey, you say, so when you go to the gym, do you hip thrust, you did the hip thrust machine? Oh, you do enough of that at home? Yeah, you know, I do a little, yeah. I mean, the cover, the cover's pretty heavy. So you know, I get up on the cover, the cover's pretty heavy.

That's a weight right there, Joe. Okay. What I do is I go get me one of more 45-pound plates, put it on top of the cover, slide up on up under there. I just go to the opposite way. go like this right here it is it is a damn $20,000 hip where it is it just imagine if you have if you have a debilitating disease or something you have some of these disease man you know what it called what it

costs to get health insurance especially now they can't kick you off of it I mean I don't know if it's still like that chat y'all have to tell me is that you had if you had a pre-existing condition before they used to have if you had a pre-existing condition, they can kick you off or they jack it up. Insurance is already high. Now you got a pre-existing condition. Man, your premium triple. You pay it $2,500 a month.

I mean, when you look at the rest of the supporting cast, how many of those players are proven? I think if O'Dill gets the opportunities to make plays, he can still make those plays, even though he's not the same O'Dell in the past.

He still can make those plays. So, I mean, that sucks. The fact that he even has to be vying and lobbying for the fifth receiver spot. Amen. He still getting an opportunity, Ocho. you know, he still gets a chance to go out there and compete for a position for a spot

That desire and that passion to still be out there on the field, it never wavers, bro. It don't matter if you're healthy, if you've been through injuries, especially when you love compete. And Odell seems like a guy who really loves to compete. obviously it looks like he's got his body in some great shape

to where he's had a pretty good camp. I mean, hell, he probably had a whole lot of targets in these first two games. But, you know, just to be out there catching a ball again, just to be effective. You know what I mean? On the field, I'm sure, you know, he's been elated by that, and I'm sure he will love to make this team.

And I think he still has an opportunity. Yes. That's one thing, man. That's why you got to enjoy it and make the most of the opportunity when you hear. Because eventually we're going to age. We're going to age out of sports. It happens to us all.
