In other news, wide receiver room in the NFL, more star power for the Miami Dolphins. The team just agreed for a one-year deal with Odell Beckham Jr., adding him to a position group that already features five-time All-Pro Tyreek Hill
Starting point is 00:02:34 and Jalen Waddle, who posted three, since his rookie season, three straight 1,000-yard seasons to start a career. The deal is worth $3 million with incentives that can push the max value to 8.25. Hill and Waddle have been the most productive wide receivers tandem since joining forces in 2022. But no receiver behind those two
Starting point is 00:02:55 has eclipsed 32 catches in either of the past two seasons. Miami reliance on this star duo became apparent late in the season when both Hill and Waddle battled through injuries. an NFL insider reported Chiefs were appealing to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. money wasn't right money wasn't right over there with the Miami Dolphins they were probably trying to penny pinch they were trying to penny pinch so what what made more sense to me to me well you get you can get more here down in Miami. Obviously, we have no tax.
Starting point is 00:03:25 And then the offense, I'm not saying we have packed them home, but we do have a quarterback by the name of Tua, who is a Samoan warrior, who is efficient as well when it comes to throwing the ball, as you can look and see what Jalen Waddell and Tyreek have done since they've been with him. You add Odell Beckham, who is still very, very, very good at what he does to that offense, who will probably play in the slot most of the time and will dominate short, intermediate routes.
Starting point is 00:03:54 And on short, intermediate routes, if you watch Odell throughout the years, he can still hit his head off the goalpost from anywhere on the field. Shallow routes, slant routes. He can go deep still. So I'm excited. I'm excited. Now, that offense just got a little bit scary because there's nothing wrong with Odell at all.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Obviously, he played with the Ravens last year. But injuries have robbed him. He's not the same guy, Ocho. He hasn't had a thousand yard season since 2018. But he's not used in a way where he can put up those type of numbers as well. Now, we have to remember that as well. Well, how is he going to do that? I'm not saying he needs to put up a thousand.
Starting point is 00:04:40 I'm saying he's still. Listen, let me say something real quick. And this is what I'll do. Respect everybody. 80% Odell Beckham, even with the injuries, is better than 90% of what we have in the NFL at receiver right now. Do you agree or disagree with me? Wait, you didn't say do you agree or disagree with me.
Starting point is 00:04:58 But here's the thing. He's 80%. But no, because context matters. 80% of Odell as the third option. He's not a third option receiver. It just based on, wait, let me finish. Based on circumstance and injuries that have happened, we are thinking he's a third receiver.
Starting point is 00:05:17 To me, we're getting a low end one or two that we're seeing as a three because of situations that have occurred throughout his career. He ain't nowhere near, he ain't no goddamn three. Shit. No, sir.

Starting point is 00:07:23 The problem is, Ocho, is that the injuries, we don't get healthier as we get older. He's had the ACL. He's had the broken ankle.
Starting point is 00:07:40 So, to ask and to expect, I know what he once was, but I don't believe he still possessed that. And now he's the third guy in a situation. Yeah. That's what's tough. You know, I'm glad people are thinking like that, including you.
Starting point is 00:07:58 That's a good thing. Because I want, when we go into the season, I want teams that are playing the Dolphins. I want them to view Odell as a goddamn third. I want them to view. I want you to put your goddamn third or second corner. Okay. Wait, let me finish. Let me finish.

And last year, he went to the Western Conference Finals. The next time for the Lakers, we did fourth coach in seven seasons. They didn't bring back Luke Walton after his third season. They canned Frank Vogel after the third season,
Starting point is 00:24:15 in a season in which he won the championship and not him. Who do you think they turn to next? If the Lakers are hoping to talk to Ty Lue this offseason, the Clippers may get in the way and block the Lakers from talking to him. I don't, the problem that I have is that you don't accomplish anything by keep changing coaches. You get no continuity. You got a different voice every two to three years.

What we saw in those clips is film study and a person with a very, very, very high, high IQ when it comes to watching film and knowing what's coming because of that film study. He's a ball hawk and he's good at what he does on both sides of the ball and again we can we can show clips of travis hunter playing receiver as well and showing he is elite at that position as well so it all it all depends on what he wants to play or what he's more comfortable with as far as when he goes to the next level the fact that he's able to do both is at a pretty
Starting point is 00:43:41 damn high level i think it's really good i I think for me, I think he's better suited to play defensive back. I watched him. It's not like, he doesn't get off the ball. Ocho, he can't get off press. He's just using athleticism. At this point in time,
Starting point is 00:43:55 if you can't get off press, you ain't going to the next level to learn how to get off press. You better learn how to do that before you get there. It has to already be installed and you got to work on it in the offseason.

The moment he do this, you chop and go one side or the other. It's things like that. Starting point is 00:56:03 It's not disgusting. That's human nature. And the first thing they do, first thing they do, like I ain't gonna know, they reach up there and turn the little vent on. Yeah, you did that. Don't blow that. Come on. I mean, that's somewhat embarrassing.

Starting point is 01:00:49 cup about three quarters of the way full with chocolate milk. And all she had to do was just cut. I just eat the apple peels. I can eat the whole apple, but I just cut some slices off the apple peel. Had the heart down off it.

Starting point is 01:02:41 changer stereo, and a bunch of CDs from the 60s that took her to Tony Roma's for dinner. Look at my mom. Oh, man. Well, it's actually Mother's Day every month for my mom considering she get a check.
Starting point is 01:03:00 I'm trying to think. I brought a Mercedes. But most of the time, my mom's simple. My mom just want money. My mom don't want anything. She don't want anything that she want money. Because she want to go to the racetrack with her girlfriends. And they play the slot machine.
Starting point is 01:03:20 That's what my mom want to do. My grandmother, for Mother's Day, I bought her one year, I bought a necklace, Ocho, and it was a diamond and a cross. It was gold, but it had diamonds inside of it. And I remember she looked at it. She looked up at me. She called my sister
Starting point is 01:03:46 in the room. She said, Libby. She said, Libby. I said, Libby, granny call you. She came in there. She told my sister. She said, you see this chain? She said, yes, ma'am. She said, it's pretty. She said, it goes in the ground with me.
Starting point is 01:04:04 My grandma never took it off. I brought a watch. I brought a watch at a local drugstore. But the band, I don't know if that was before your time, but they used to have a band. People older, probably my age, understand. It was crystal flicks, so you could twist the band. It was just like rubber band, but it was like a metal.
Starting point is 01:04:23 And it had big numbers, it light, you know, you look at night, it light up. She told my sister, she said, this necklace and this watch go in the ground with me. And we buried her wishes, we buried her in it. So that was probably the greatest gift I've ever given
Starting point is 01:04:40 somebody because of what it meant, how she reacted when she received it right i think the greatest gift ever gave my grandma probably probably probably probably a vehicle bmw i never forget bmw 745i and seeing the look on her face. Seeing the look on her face. My mama, I bought her a BMW as well. 330i, if I'm not mistaken.
Starting point is 01:05:15 A little drop top. And I bought her a purse and inside the purse, she opened the purse and I had a little dog, a little toy poodle. But it looked like a chicken wing. It was so little. It looked like a damn chicken wing. I never forget that, man. And you know, my mom was very, very theatrical, very, um, flamboyant and she just hollered and cried and, and fell out. And, oh man,
Starting point is 01:05:44 it was, it was, uh, that's one of the greatest moments, man, seeing their faces and smile. Yep. That's what it's all about. Yeah, when you get them gifts. And, I mean, hell, shit, I'm, shit, I'm not. You know, Ocho, you know when you, like, you know, I already knew because, like, my grandmother, my grandfather, you know, the ring, you know, back then it wasn't really no diamonds.
Starting point is 01:06:07 You got a band. Right. So my grandmother really never had any expensive jewelry and she was OK with that. Right. I didn't expect. For to have that kind of impact, I knew she would like it. It was a cross. Right. Religious. So I knew she would like it. religious. So I knew she would like it. I thought I didn't get the one I originally thought because I thought that would be too and I knew she would have thought that would be too gaudy too ostentatious.
Starting point is 01:06:32 But I didn't expect the reception that I got. Because I started to tear up. Because now she thought so much of it and she never took it off. Right. And so to her wishes
Starting point is 01:06:48 she went in the ground with it. So those are special moments that you never forget. Derrick Jr. said what's up y'all I'm 25 just got a new job at a warehouse and I'm happy but also struggling with thoughts
Starting point is 01:07:02 because I know I have more potential. Any words of advice? Yeah. Potential just means you haven't done anything, bro. What do you have that potential in? You better tap into that shit. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Go ahead, Ocho. I'm just saying. I'll let you finish. Whatever that potential is, you got to tap into it. You saying you have potential but you gotta find what your niche is what is your niche find out what your niche is and then it won't even be work

He said, yeah, you have a couple more years like this, you can make the Hall of Fame. I said, what? He said, yeah, you have a couple more years like this. You can make the Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 01:10:49 That was the first time I ever even heard about it. Because in 91, we played... Who did we play? If I'm not mistaken, we played Detroit in the Hall of Fame game. Remember the game?
Starting point is 01:11:03 In Canton. Come on, bro. I'm a seventh-round pick. Seventh-round picks don't have no dreams of playing in the Hall of Fame. I'm sorry. We're just hoping we can make the team. And so we're just like, man, damn. Because at that point in time, Ocho, I had gone to
Starting point is 01:11:19 five straight Pro Bowls and had been to three had been on three all proteins but I'm not it really never dawned on me my mind never went to Hall of Fame until he brought it up to me in a conversation

Starting point is 01:12:18 I did what I did. I think y'all know from the way I talk and the way I'm so motivated, I got everything out of my God-given ability. I couldn't have, you know, hey, I wish I could have stayed healthy like Kelsey, but I missed a season due to injuries. Not in one season, but over the course, I missed 16 games. So do I have maybe another 1,000 yards instead of 10,000? I have 11. Instead of 815, maybe I have
Starting point is 01:12:48 900 catches. I don't think that changes anybody's perception of me. I was the first with 700 catches, the first with 800 catches, the first with 9,000 yards, the first with 10,000 yards. I had all the records. I'm good. Guys come along
Starting point is 01:13:04 and at some point in time these guys is gonna move down but hey my kids will be able to look back and say hey you know what guys my dad my dad had all these records my dad in the hall of fame they'll be able to go see my my grandkids great grands will always be able to go see that so i'm good good. I'm good where I am. I am. I'm content. Oh yeah. Even if I wasn't, I can't,
Starting point is 01:13:29 nothing I can do about it now. I can't go back and catch any more passes, no touchdowns, no catches, no yard. I can't do nothing. No Superbowls. I'm good. I'm better than good.
