Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:01:47 the biggest decisions, and the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:03 wherever you get your podcast. Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021. And I'm Kunky, his best friend and business manager. And we've got a new show called The 1021 podcast. I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. And with the World Cup right around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Listen to the 1021 podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Tracea McGrady, a mentor and friend of Jalen Brown spoke on his podcast about Jalen Brown's frustration with the Boston Celtic. Let's take a listen to what Tracy had to say. His frustration lies deeply within the organization and other things that... Of course. Of course. We don't really have details too. there's just been a lot of stuff, you know, that I've been hearing just going on with the Boston organization, with J.B.
Starting point is 00:03:10 You know, so I think part of him is like I show you guys more of who I am as a basketball player, not only just, you know, what I did on the basketball court, but the leadership that I displayed within, you know, this team. And you've seen that. not having our, you know, best player in JT. You've seen the different side of me and what I'm able to bring to the game of basketball. So all that stuff, you know, I think just came into play with him and his frustration. However, I have, hey, hey, hey, young.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Brad, before we go, Joe, let's what, Brad, before we get your thoughts, J.B. responded. I hate that our president of basketball operation even had to respond to this. me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston. If it was up to me, I could play here for the next 10 years. He added that this was his favorite year of his career.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Bread, what's really going on? Now, think about it. This man is won an NBA championship, finals MVP. He's been to another finals where he was the Larry Bird winner. Now, this year he could put out in the second round, and he said this was his favorite year. What's really going on, Brad? What's really going on, Brad?
Starting point is 00:04:25 Well, here's the thing. they had asked them that before the playoffs about what kind of year. This is before Jalen Brown, before Tatum ever came back. They asked him, they said, what do you think about this year? He said, it's my favorite year because people had put the Celtics down. Think about it, this was a gap year for the Celtics. They weren't even supposed to be playing. So I think that that's why I think he enjoyed it so much,
Starting point is 00:04:51 the fact that he was able to put this in everybody's face. And people, and man, I got them to know. understand this, Joe. The Celtics pissed me off, but they gave me $350 million. You know what pissed on me all the time if you want to? I don't get me an awful, okay? Ocho, Joe, give me a damn umbrella, okay? If they pee in like that, oh, Joe, you always talk about that club down and that place down in the Miami, wherever this, Tutsis, or wherever that.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. If they peeing like that down there, I'm coming down There was race you're off. You pissed off about what? I ain't pissed off? I'm good. Hey, look, I think we all could agree that he's been underrated. You got to think about it. They took two of his former teammates.
Starting point is 00:05:45 They said, but he fit better. Those guys, we don't have no offense. They understood that unless it's a layup or wide open three, we're not running plays. We had veteran guys, and they played the same, basically they played JT and J.B. Played the same position as LeBron, Kevin Durant, and I guess you could say Anthony Davis. But, and so he's like, hold on, wait a damn minute. I don't give it.
Starting point is 00:06:11 I don't care. I don't care. You got to be able to find a role for me on something as a finals MVP, and you took two guys that ain't been the finals MVP, hasn't been to Labbird. Gentlemen, who ran that? team. Wasn't that Nike that ran that team? And what happened? He didn't like what
Starting point is 00:06:31 happened with Kyrie Urban. He also has his own shoe. So you ain't going in there in somebody else's kitchen and start talking a lot of noise. And you think that Nike is about to bring you on that team. People cannot look at it if they want
Starting point is 00:06:47 to, but you're a fool if you think that Nike didn't have something to do with Jalen Brown not being on that team. And that is That is for sure it's going to be. Because Jaylen Brown has his own shoe. When Kyrie Irvin got kicked off that the Nike squad, he was pissed off about that.
Starting point is 00:07:05 He was very vocal. And what do you think Nike said about that? You think Nike's going to say, you know what? We're going to bring you on the Olympic team. Hell to the no. Hell to the no. Joe, I agree, man.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I think, you know, with J.B. having his own shoe, his own endorsement. Nike wasn't going for it because there's no way you mean to tell me he can have three of his damn teammates on the USA team and he don't make it. Yeah. It just didn't make no sense to me.
Starting point is 00:07:43 So it made sense to you, Joe. Stop. It may sense. Well, yeah, it may, it may sense, but that's what we talk about. When we talk about politics in the game, oh, yeah. That's what people be.
Starting point is 00:07:54 talking about, bro. You know what I mean? Because he would have fit to the T. Now that Jason Tatum really didn't get to play. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know if they wanted to bring on another forward because you already got Katie and LeBron. So here, whoever playing behind them, you're going to play limited minutes. Y'all got to understand these are 10 minute quarters. These ain't 12 minute quarters. Right. So that's an extra what? Eight minutes that, that guy, this is only 40 minute game. So I think a lot came to play in that. But I also think it, it puts, with J.B. in a position to where he wanted to prove everybody wrong. Which he said this was his best year.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And I think J.T. probably said, hell, y'all could have left me at home if y'all were going to play me no more than this. All I did to take that long-ass trip over there to be sitting on the day of bitch. And I'm a three-time, I'm a three-time all-MBA selection. I'm a former Larry Bird Eastern Conference MVP. And y'all got me sitting on the bitch. And what I did get in the game, I ain't played with like two, three minutes. Well, well, you got to admit that Tatum didn't play well. He didn't play well. And because of that,
Starting point is 00:09:00 if you're Steve Kerr, Steve Kerr was playing for one thing. That was for the gold medal. I don't give a damn what this other guy did or what your record was. You can put that on the background. We're playing for a gold medal. He got the gold medal.
Starting point is 00:09:15 If he had played Tatum and Tatum talked about that, he said, I didn't play well. I didn't play well. So sometimes you sit there and cheer for other guys. So I think that's kind of what happened, you know, why he didn't play. But that whole thing about J.B. And who he was and how he feels.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah, he feels like slighted because he's one of the top, he's one of the top 10 players in the NBA this year. But those things happen when you play on the team. They made it abundantly clear. There are three guys. There was Kevin Durant. There's Steph Curry and there was LeBron James. If y'all want to come, we're going to sign y'all.
Starting point is 00:09:55 We're going to put y'all in here right now. Everybody else, you got to come audition. Yeah. You got to, as you're an actor, you've got to come to the table read. Other than that, you want to be in the movie? You got it. And it's hard to argue. Look at the way KD played.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Look at the way LeBron played. Look at the way Steph played. Can we argue about their playing time, considering what Steph did in the finals against the France team, what LeBron and KD did against the Serbian team. I mean, who did they play? Was that South Sudan?
Starting point is 00:10:32 That had the team down and LeBron goes crazy. I mean, it's... Shannon, you bring up a great point. You start talking about movies. If you were in the movie with Denzel, how many damn lines you think you're about to get? Other than hello?
Starting point is 00:10:51 Just, just, just, You don't get killed in the first scene. All these great actors, no, you don't. All these great actors, no, you don't. There's only a little bit of time where you'll be in. And I play with great players, like Larry Bird and the Kevin McKell and Robert Parrish and those guys. Your window of opportunity is a real, real small.
Starting point is 00:11:11 And so when you get that opportunity, when Steve Kerr put him in the game, Tatum had to play well because you had already those reliable guys, as you said, who were sitting there waiting just to play. But you ain't getting a bunch of lines when you're in there with Denzel. He made that movie about it. He said that part about Godzilla. Ain't nobody else
Starting point is 00:11:30 going to say nothing. What's you going to say after that? Yeah, yeah. Hey, when you think about it, LeBron, Steph Curry, and Durant, their games complement one another. That's why LeBron was able to play that Magic Johnson Road, that facilitating
Starting point is 00:11:46 road, because those guys are too deadly in shooting and scoring the damn ball. Yeah, he understood that. You know what I mean? And they game complimented each other so well. And I think everybody wanted to see that. I mean, it was unbelievable to see it. And I agree with y'all.
Starting point is 00:12:00 I didn't think Tatum played great. And I just think playing behind LeBron and Durant in a 40-minute ball game, bro, your minute is going to be hella limited. And plus, they were losing. I'd be thinking about it. They were down to Serbia, Brad, and guys, they was down to Serbia, what, 16, 18 points? And the French team was right there on their, So what?
Starting point is 00:12:21 You go to, so then you know what? We got Jason Tatum. He has a three-time all-NBA selection. Even though the French team or the Serbian team has got us, you know what? We got to make sure everybody get their minutes. Bro, this is a NBA All-Star game. In the NBA All-Star game,
Starting point is 00:12:34 you make sure everybody get their minutes. Everybody go get by 10 minutes until the game get close. And if you ain't got your 10 minutes by the time the game get close, oh, the hell with you. In this situation right here, and because like you said,
Starting point is 00:12:45 LeBron was playing out of his mind, KD was playing out of his mind, Steph was playing out of his mind. And they needed to be. big. Jason Taylor, whether he going to come in and guard Wimby? Would he go come in and guard Rudy Gaubert? What he's going to guard Yolkech?
Starting point is 00:12:57 Well, here's the beauty about all this. Jason Taylor is going to have another turn at the Olympics. So don't worry about him not. And he can't get down on himself. But here's the question. And you just mentioned it. Will Jalen Brown be on the Olympic team coming up? I'm waiting for him.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Come on, Ocho. You're going to be on the Olympic team? Rob and pray. I can be honest too about it I mean if you weren't on if you weren't on the last one and you've had some some political issues
Starting point is 00:13:27 obviously you know the riff that you have with Nike if Nike has anything to do with it in 2028 I mean can control what you can control you're probably not going to be on there either even if you're just being honest and then you look at you look at the spots
Starting point is 00:13:39 you look at the spots that were taken you got your main four you got Kevin Durant you had Steph you had LeBron and who was the fourth who was the fourth what the two they had Joel and B they have Bam and they had Anthony Davis. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:53 And so then you had LeBron, you had KD, you had Steph, you had Devin Booker, you had Ant Man, you had, uh, uh, uh, Tyree Talibir. And you had Holliday. We got everybody. Woo, woo, woo, ooh. But think about this. Think about this.
Starting point is 00:14:10 You got, you got some players that were on, that, that were the focal point and the really go-to guys when you were losing, they might not be playing in 28. So that might leave room for JPM. Stephen Brin not going to be there. KD says, hey, if I'm still playing at this level, I would love the opportunity to be there.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Hey, I know a guy that's just a rookie that played well against the U.S. men's team and when he was going to college, Cooper Flagg. I think there's a great chance he'd be on that, Brett. And man is going to be on that team. Yeah. He's a Cooper Flagg is a dukey, and he's a Nike guy.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Yeah. No, he's a new balance guy. He's a new balance guy. But Grant Hill is a dukey. Yeah, yeah, he's going to be on there. Damn. You know, especially, Joe, I wouldn't understand why be upset, especially when to come to certain things you can't control,
Starting point is 00:15:00 when you play the game long enough as long as JV's played. I mean, your finals MVP, you know, one year ring, you've been paid handsomely, you know, for what you do. I mean, why would you even care? Because, man, I'm a competitor. I ain't move all the way over there to the same of a damn bit. And Ocho, Ocho, I'm arguably the best player on my team, and you mean, tell me, you can take three guys off my squad,
Starting point is 00:15:25 and neither one of them is me. Hey, that's, you know, you know where that come from. That come from, that come from the high ups. You know, you know that. You understand that. You know the game that you know the game they play. Hey, I'm doing my part. I grew up watching USA basketball.
Starting point is 00:15:41 You know what I mean? Like, I want to play for the USA team. Damn. Well, you know the people don't care nothing about that. at all. Somebody give me down to Tussies, okay? I just want to go out there. Hey, come on.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Hey, come on. Hey, Brett, come on. Hey, you don't mention it about two times already. Hey, bread. Bread, you ain't a bit of tussies, bread. I'm saying. Hey, hey, bread. Hey, I remember.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Joe, I'm 70 years old. Damn, Tutsies. They let me. Magic City. You don't been to Magic City, though. What? Hey, hey, bread. You don't have been to magic double here to my war.
Starting point is 00:16:13 You heard exactly what I did. I was younger then. I was younger. I was younger. I love. chicken weed. They ain't got that. It's still the same.
Starting point is 00:16:20 It's still in the same location. It sure is. They just got a better kitchen. Ain't nothing change. This May, IHartRadio celebrates Asian Heritage Month. Starting point is 00:17:33 If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.

Starting point is 00:19:05 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. the game.
Starting point is 00:19:25 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying.
Starting point is 00:19:50 He run up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. But you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:20:12 This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip, just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey With all the snacks and drink Sidebar why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Starting point is 00:20:33 They had a bogo Well then you got it Do you want a white collar something here? Just take it What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh I would
Starting point is 00:20:41 Come on I would buy it Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake That sounds delicious Oh you're lucky I'm not a drug addict You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be
Starting point is 00:20:59 a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, let me know what y'all guys think about this. The Athletic just released their anonymous NBA overrated underrated NBA NBA NBA poll. The most overrated player with 12.3% of the votes is Aparin Shungoon, followed by Rudy Gober.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Tray Young and Cat. Damn. The most underrated player is a tie between Jalen Johnson, Derek White, followed by Jalen Brown, and True Holiday. Any surprise, bread. Are you surprised by Shingoon, Gobert, Tray Young, and Kat being the most overrated, while the most underrated is Jalen Johnson, Derek White, tie, followed by Jalen Brown.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Jalen Brown, I definitely put him in there as the most underrated. shangoon i like shangoon though shangoon plays hard man and you know he's no jumper but he's gonna get you points he's going to battle he's going to give you elbows i love watching him play so i i'm not sure about the overrated player that i will put him in but uh you know derrick white and they're right you think about derrick white for the Celtics and i was around that derrick white didn't really have a good year this year not shooting the basketball he defeated it really well but you the basketball. He didn't have the year he'd had before, so underrated,
Starting point is 00:22:27 I'm not sure where you go with that. I mean, I look at the guy like Cooper Flagg or, you know what, I think C Cnipple, to me, is a guy, to me, is overrated. When I think about him playing for Charlotte, although he's knocked down a bunch of threes, I don't know if he could guard my grandma right now.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Hey, when it comes to underrated, I'll definitely say I'll probably say Jalen Johnson. I just think as a young player, he still has some room to grow,
Starting point is 00:22:58 especially, you know, when he comes to playing in the postseason, that was a great experience for him. This was for real, for real, his first time playing in the postseason, and I think he would definitely be better. The overrated thing,
Starting point is 00:23:09 are you on the ownership group down there in Atlanta? Because that damn you don't have told me, I haven't heard a couple things you then say it tonight. And I like him as a player, But when you said the Hawks didn't give up and it was just one day,
Starting point is 00:23:25 I was like, damn, you must be an ownership. You gotta have a part of that team. It's up. He got a little something. No, I'm telling you, I'm telling you what I see. This is what I see. And with the overrated, I think Trayon gets slack, fellas. Obviously, we know he's somewhat of a liability defensively,
Starting point is 00:23:44 but the way he makes guys around him better, this is why I say, damn, I hope Washington give it a real. run with AD and Tray Young in Washington. So Trey can kind of prove a lot of these critics wrong. I think he's a hell of a player. Yeah, he's a smaller guard
Starting point is 00:24:00 who don't play defense for real. But I think I think in today's game in scoring the basketball and making guys around you better, I think he does it with the best of him. He can go to the All-Star game with Clint Capella. He damn should be the first team all-in-Bia with Anthony
Starting point is 00:24:17 Davis. Ocho, what you think? Who you think is overrated and underrated? Hey, man, honestly, individually, I don't really know the individuals that well based on what they've done. Obviously, this season to be able to give a fair assessment on who's overrated and who's underrated or not. You guys have a better knowledge of the game than I do.
Starting point is 00:24:38 They say cat. They say cat overrated. Man, you know, that's bullshit. You know, that's bullshit. Hey, hey, listen to me. I thought you didn't have a knowledge of the game. Yeah, I thought he ain't know nothing about that. Hey, listen, that's bulljad based on the last series and what he doing these first two games right now against the Sixers.
Starting point is 00:24:55 And I told you what he was going to do. I told you what he was going to do. Outside of that, yeah. I was talking to my friends today and tell him I was coming on this show. And I said, and I start mimicking Ocho. I said, the goddamn man, let me tell you what he did over here. He didn't do a goddamn thing. I don't hear him like that.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And the dude said, yep, that's how it's going to hear him. He's going to hear him. I think the thing with Shingoon is that I think, look, it's, I don't know. Maybe it's because he had Kevin Durant. But just two years ago, the guy was in the NBA All-Star game. The guy was, what, average 22, 23 points a game.
Starting point is 00:25:41 I think he did that. Hold on. Didn't he make it this year? He didn't make the All-Star game this year? Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Luca, Luca, Luca. But it's hard.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And the thing is, he might play worse defense than anybody that made this list. But he's so prolific at putting the ball in the basket, O'Brien. People go over, you know that, people go over here. I got it. But I'm just saying, that's how they got, that's, that's how he got moved when he was from Dallas. Because he was so bad against the Celtics during the championship.
Starting point is 00:26:18 And Dallas said, no, now, we ain't going to go that. way. And I think he's an unbelievably great offensive player. But if you can't slow people down defensively in this league anymore, it takes away from your greatness as an offensive player.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I think the thing is all you have to do is that you look at a clutch situation and they always put him in the pick and roll. His whole thing since he's been in the league, we're going at him. Whoever he's guarding, you get the ball and you go at him.
Starting point is 00:26:50 That is embarrassing. You can't allow that to have. And y'all know what I think of Luca because he's one of my favorite players. And I saw from a very, very early on, I said he's special. But his defense, and sometimes I don't even think he tries. Because he compromised because you know, Brad and Joe guys, y'all know if once you get broken down,
Starting point is 00:27:14 your entire defense is compromised. Because somebody's got to come help. Yeah. You're taught, hey, you see somebody help drowning. You got to go save him. His guy, the guy goes by Luca, somebody's got to come. Wide open, back door cut.
Starting point is 00:27:29 All because Luca got beat. Yeah. So it's gonna, it's just, and it ain't gonna get no better. He ain't gonna get no better. You don't get better at something as you get older because he's, like I said, you gotta try when you young.
Starting point is 00:27:41 If you ain't trying with you young, you don't damn well, bread as you get older and older, get harder to move. Yeah. You really gonna say effort. Yeah. Hey, I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I think with Luca, man, it ain't just Luca because it's AR at times too. When you're getting beat off the first move, fellas, and we got to bring help and that compromises our defense to where now we're in a huckabucker to where we either got to give up a dunk or a wide open three, hell, you're always going to be trailing. That's the problem that you have. So I agree that you've got to take the initiative to be to at least stop the first or the second move.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Just stop the first. just don't get beat on the first move. Just don't get a, all I'm saying, look, I'm not saying, hey, the guy come back with another one, just don't get beat on the first one. And then we, hey, we good from there. Like, same, we said the same thing about Hardin. Y'all remember what Hardin put on the band park?
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah, that's true. That's true. We said the exact same thing about James Hardin. And there have been some great offensive players, but we have never seen it so lopsided. where the guy was so great offensively, like Hardin and Luca, it was so horrible defensively.
Starting point is 00:28:54 We've never seen, I can't recall, Braddon. You came in the league way, way back, and maybe they were. I don't know how George Gervin played defense. I don't know how David Thompson played defense. Some of you scored Bird Dog King, a lot of me. But if you go back and look at saying the last 25 years,
Starting point is 00:29:12 we've never had a guy, even the last 30 years, we've never had a guy that played this good, Yokech is another one. We talk about these offensive guys. And sometimes I like, bro. I mean, that's why I think I have to give so much credit to LeBron James
Starting point is 00:29:28 because he, especially them first, whatever, 20 years, 15 years. He was one of the top defenders. And one of the top offensive players. And then I think about Jordan. Same way that he played now. Think about Kobe Bryant.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Kobe Bryant that would try to dog you on the defensive head. I heard chef's studio say, you know, he said, Kobe came over to me, said, coach, at the Olympics, I want to guard the toughest guy every night. How many superstars step up like that? I know when I played, for my years, I was averaging about 20 points a game,
Starting point is 00:30:04 my second year in the league, Joe. And the coach said, we got Larry Bird, the coach came over to me and said, you know what? Every night, I want you to guard the toughest man. I'm like, shit, I'm a lover. Ain't no damn fighter. But you know, you know that you have to sacrifice doing other things as a teammate.
Starting point is 00:30:25 But the way Kobe used to play, man, that was. And LeBron and, you know, Jordan, that to me, that's the hallmark. And you know who said they want to be like that? Look at Jay LaBron like that. But Ant Man said he wants to be like that. Is he like that, though? And that's the only way that Minnesota is going to go to another level. Yeah, because those guys, they have to put the same amount of effort in defensively that they do offensively.
Starting point is 00:30:53 And when you got guys who love to compete like that, especially your best players, your star players, that makes you a much better basketball team, fellas. But if you look at, you mentioned something about the Olympic team, what did Devin Booker say? Devin Booker say, I ain't got to shoot no shots. I play defense. I lock in. Yeah. Ant Man, locked in.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Derek White, lock in. Holiday, lock in. sometimes when you're on a ticket and it's just hard because you've gotten so much credit for being offensively driven and so now it's just it's just hard oh choice like we see these great running backs but then when it come past protection like bro that's your guy you got at least i try to i ain't say look i'm not saying you got to be larry allen rest his soul and stonewall the guy but damn get the way on the office of me they give you 30 but they guy giving you 28, bro, you ain't
Starting point is 00:31:45 did nothing. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Let me, let me understand. Who is the, who was the best defense, I mean, office of running back blocker that you ever seen? That protected the quarterback. Then he ran it and he also
Starting point is 00:32:01 protected his mayor. Probably what, uh, maybe Adrian Peterson. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Clinton Porter's and Ezekiel Elliott But Clinton Porter, the best guy that I played with,
Starting point is 00:32:18 of all the backs was Clinton Porter's. He would be able to work. I'm talking about he would unload. I mean, hey, he's selling out. He's selling out. And that's what you gotta have. What you do, you gotta close the distance, Brian. You close the distance,
Starting point is 00:32:37 and give him a one way go. Because if you get that guy and let him do all of this, he's gonna catch your sit light, he'll run right over the top of you. So now, I'm gonna, going to meet you in the A or the B gap, you got to come through me to get through the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:32:50 And now... Did you, did you, Ocho, ever play against a guy that I love the, gosh, I played with Greenback. And he was the... Reggie White. Do you have played against him? I played against him. I played against him when he was in the middle.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Did you ever have to block him then? Because he told me, he said, he said, he said, corns. He said some of these guys. He said they got to do better. And he was a religious man. So he wasn't in person, but I just, but did you go against him? I blocked him a couple of times, but he didn't know I was going to block him. So I quick said him.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Oh, I was never, hey, don't you back up because if you back up, he, no, he's going to, you're going to block him. He's going to throw you right into the quarterback. I quick said him. I said, hey, look, you got about three seconds. Because he don't know I'm going to block him. He thinks I'm going out for a pass. Hey, a tackle. I need you help inside now.
Starting point is 00:33:46 He'll get around the edge, but if you ate. But no, he, hey, that was, he had football strength. Now, I don't know what type of numbers that he put up in the weight room. Yeah. But that was, hey, bread, all he did was have tape. He had some little white tape, athletic tape right his wrist, and no gloves. What? He went with his goal?
Starting point is 00:34:09 None. No gloves. He'll put them hands on you. Yeah. I played against him when he was at his, absolute apex when he was in Philly. Yeah. Lord, have mercy.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Hey, hey, I'm, you know what I'm curious? I mean, what you said about, about Luke and what you said about Yokos, right? Yeah. I both of them being liabilities on defense. Yes. Being so good offensively. So would you rather take
Starting point is 00:34:36 away what they're able to do offensively just so they're able to play defense? Then wouldn't that take away what makes them special offensively? if they were good on defense? Because you said it would make their teams better if they play defense. But here's the thing, Ocho, we said just be good.
Starting point is 00:34:54 We didn't say be great. They're awful. That all, I mean, I ain't say, you said good. We ain't say be like LeBron. We're not saying be like COVID. We're not saying be like Jordan. We're not saying be like Elijah Wanda, David Robinson. We say just be good.
Starting point is 00:35:11 How about this here? Be average. Can we get what average? because all three of those guys are below average defenders. Yeah. You guys are bad. And the problem is
Starting point is 00:35:23 that there are really no centers to give Yolk's a problem. The only center that can give him a problem is Joel and Bede. And when Jolin B plays it, he gives him a problem. But if he was, if Yokic is just the skill as he is right now,
Starting point is 00:35:38 and he had to go against David Robinson, he had to go against Shaq, he had to go against Akeem, he had to go against Patrick U. they were cook his ass on the offensive yeah he had some day hey you're right he had some problem dealing with them people see that's back in the day when you used to
Starting point is 00:35:52 have real beef now we ain't that's like two in the NBA exactly yeah I mean essentially Shannon what you're saying right now is when those guys play it's like your grandma when she was cooking fish huh you just that damn she frying it there just yeah
Starting point is 00:36:07 oh you're right hey hey that's it that's it yeah That's crazy. About your grandma, did you guys have the good fish or you, or you just eating spots and mullers?
Starting point is 00:36:24 Which was, because I heard somebody. See, there you go. You know, hey, first of all, you ain't getting no good fish. Good fish when we were growing up, was whitey, was mullet, was croaker, with shad,
Starting point is 00:36:36 with brim, with perch, some catfish. Brud, you ain't getting no sea bass. Oh, no. You ain't done about. Not a little sea bans, no Arctic char, no salmon. You got salmon croquette, but they came in a can. You know damn well, your grandma, your mom, and your grandma,
Starting point is 00:36:53 my bread ain't by no fish out the store. Unless it was whiting, a mullet, or croak. That was a... Wait a minute. Not the salmon croquette's out of the can. No. Don't say that. Don't say that.
Starting point is 00:37:08 You've still got the water coming out of the oven. You got the little... Exactly. You bet you weren't... I'd never like I said you might they might you know they have you might get some whiting or you might get some some croaker or some mullet but that was it everything else you caught you caught catfish you caught perch you caught brim that's what you ate you ain't get no the fish like you see all that fish lined up you go to whole food or you go to king
Starting point is 00:37:34 supermarket or something yeah like damn look at all that fish hell I ain't even know they had so damn many fish in the world until I got grown and could go to the supermarket by down cell. What is that? Looking at the supermarket going, what is that? What's what a fish? Babe, what's how fish is that? You know, they got black group with.
Starting point is 00:37:52 They got all caught. They got charred. I said, and they got it all laid. I look at all good, buddy. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. You got so funny. Thank you.

If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarter. quarter finals are potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here.

Starting point is 00:40:48 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:41:10 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers
Starting point is 00:41:26 why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick. Starting point is 00:41:56 This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white color or something here?
Starting point is 00:42:10 Just hit it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Come on. Could you believe? I would buy it.
Starting point is 00:42:18 Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:42:45 The Pelicans have had a head coaching basketball. listing their finalists as Rejan Rondo, Darvin Ham, Nets assistant Steve Heisel and Spurs' associate head coach, Sheen-Sweeney. Joe, if JJ Reddick can get a head-coaching job of the Lakers with no prior coaching experience, I mean, you mean to tell me Rondo is what? Amirondro can't get no good, right? I mean...
Starting point is 00:43:17 Right. And I think, I think you need to give some of these former guys are a chance as a head coach i know even even without experience because we've seen guys who've come into this league and have great success you know without any coaching experience so and i think rhodan rondo i think most importantly from a coach standpoint bro you want a guy who your players going to respect you know who they going to respect because if they respect them here they'll play hard for them you know what i mean and i think i think rondo uh you know he'll be a guy who won't take a lot of, take a lot of ish, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:43:56 But Joe, how can you not take a lot of ish in this league now? Because players make too much money. They're going to players going to do what they want to do. I happen to love Rondo. I think that Rondo would be good. He's very intelligent. He's been around enough. He really ran the Boston's office.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Even when Doc Rivers gave him a play, Doc, he would say, no, we're running that. We run something else. So I love Rondo as a, as a player to be combative. Wasn't he the one that, but then he also was the one that spinning Chris Ball's face? Didn't that happen? On my missus up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Yeah, he got some nastyness to him, but yeah, you need that bread? I love Ronda. I mean, I would love for him because if you think about all the guys who've gotten head coaching jobs over the years, you think about, yeah, they've always had to have experience, but if he's ranked team. No, he didn't. Nope. No.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Steve Nash and had no. Steve Nash was coaching his damn girls over there. Damn, I'm like, and now a sudden you ball him in for NBA and Steve Nash. Coach, Kyrie and what you call him? Kyrie and KD. And what you remember, though, what Karee said, though. Carrie said, it don't matter.
Starting point is 00:45:21 We don't need no coach anyway. We'll be in the coach. Damn. That's already screwed up. Ocho, that's already coming into something whether they're your main player so we don't need no coach anyway.
Starting point is 00:45:33 What are you saying about me? Hey, but think about it, though. Rondo is a proven champion. He's played with... Absolutely. He's played with Hall of Famers, bro. So, I know... Yeah, I know he knows what it takes,
Starting point is 00:45:46 you know, to win in that league. And if he could get guys... guys to follow what he's trying to lead, I think, man, he can have Rick's his sense. I think. Didn't Steve Nash play with Hall of Famers? He wasn't he wasn't a proven champion, though.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Okay, I thought he played with a whole thing. I think, you know what I think guys? I think the thing is different now, Brian. It's different now, Joe. Because these guys, there used to be a healthy level of respect for coaches. I'm not so sure guys have that same level of respect. No. Your superstar's going to do
Starting point is 00:46:17 what they want to do. And you got to just accept it. It just, it depends on who you are, though. Yeah, it depends on the coach, too. Yeah, it depends on the coach. Now, you know as players, you know your head coach, whether you can, you know, kind of brush that shit off, he's talking, or you got a head coach,
Starting point is 00:46:34 you know you need to be taking heed to what the hell of being seen. That's all I'm saying. I think Rondo will be respected. Let's tell what. You bring that same kind of energy to a guy like Joe Missoula. Damage, you're about to give him the damn fight. Because Joe Missoula didn't take any shit. at all. And that I did love
Starting point is 00:46:50 about Joe, and I think that's why the Celtics were so good this year, especially during the regular season, because he got all those guys to play hard. At the end of the day, talent supersedes anything in the playoffs. So if you have a team that plays hard
Starting point is 00:47:06 for 82 games, you're going to win more than your share of games. Yeah. What you think, Ocho? You like Rondo? Man, hell, yeah. You got to understand. Rondo. not only not just a champion, right? You talk about a player that's respected all around the league
Starting point is 00:47:22 from every player, from all teams, you know, and then you've got to think about his IQ. This ain't just no average player. We talk about getting a coach's job. Now, JJ Reddick was good, you know, but he wasn't no goddamn Rondo, and I mean that in no disrespectful way. That's someone that can come into,
Starting point is 00:47:37 but, hey, yo, the Pelicans? Yeah, uh-huh. Oh, he got. A, hey, a, Bradd, was Pat Riley, wasn't Pat Riley an endless? Yeah, absolutely. Radio Am. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:48 They don't have. Came in, came in, and there were the big, because they had fire Paul Westhead. Paul Westhead won the first championship. And then him and Magic started button heads. And then magic,
Starting point is 00:47:59 you know, talked to Dr. Bus, and Dr. Best said, just hold on. I got you. Hey, when they,
Starting point is 00:48:08 when you roll, when you call those names out like that, are those people that have already put their name in the hat for an opportunity to coach those teams? Or is that just speculation? I think Go ahead I think you're right
Starting point is 00:48:21 I think that Shannon said it best He said those names are kind of in the hopper right now I think that Rondo to me could be that coach
Starting point is 00:48:31 And the thing They're going to have to do Too is overlook some of the things That might have happened to him in the past And that was He had a
Starting point is 00:48:40 Domestic Violence thing That came in With him And people don't forget stuff like that I love Ron. But this is a new league right now. There's certain things that you can't do in this league
Starting point is 00:48:53 that you used to be able to do back in the year when I was during the time I played. When I was playing, man, it was smoking cigarettes in the locker room drinking. This was during the game. That's up. Hey, Jay. When I got to the league,
Starting point is 00:49:10 guys would be outside of halftime smoking. Hey, hey, bread. I've seen, because I watched the, the last dance and MJ said that yeah guys were smoking cigarettes at halftime said they were getting them
Starting point is 00:49:22 from the coach. Look, my first game ever, I was sitting there and I smelled cigarette smoke in the locker room. I looked over and Joe, Joe White was smoking a cigarette. I wanted to tell the head coach
Starting point is 00:49:37 I looked up at the board and Tommy Heinz was smoking the cigarette. It's like, oh, with my wife be in the street right now. Now, everybody will go have a beer real quick. Why don't somebody give me a beer? So I think it's a different time and it's a different era, which has come into play. And I love Rondo.
Starting point is 00:49:58 I hope that they're able to get past those things that he did before that challenged players and coaches coming in. Yeah. Hey, I want to go to a better situation, too, man, because going on there, man, your- Man, you got to take what you can get, Ocho. Nah, you already know, you're going to be going to be. What the coaches go? Hold on. You know you ain't going to be that long, man.
Starting point is 00:50:22 I can't help you. Do you want the job? No. No, because I know I'm not going to be that long. You go, you go over to the Pelicans. How long are you going to last? What, two, three years, if that? Look, I want to be the head of a Goldman Sachs, a J.P. Morgan.
Starting point is 00:50:36 But you know what I got to go to this regional bank, okay? As a matter. Hey, matter. Hey, hey, hey, right, right about right about nine, I wouldn't mind going over to J. you're going to be. Yeah, exactly. But right now, that's what I can get. We talked about this. What they normally get? You get to go to Arizona. Right. You get to go
Starting point is 00:50:52 to the Jets. You get to go to places where you know, everybody ain't going to get a Mike Tomlin situation. Oh. You're right. You go into the Jets. You're going to Arizona. Get one year. Woo.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Was anything going to happen? Because you guys are football people and I can't ask both of you. What's going to happen up here with Drable? up in Boston in New England. Who, Lord have mercy. Brain, I'm sure hoping you wasn't asking that question. I said, damn, my whole, we should have brief you, Brad, talking about you can't ask that.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Oh, Joe, we should have told Ray, we should have gave Brad to listen to that. Hey, and he can't ask. Listen, it's not, it's not the first, right? Brett, it's not the first and it won't be the last. And it happens all the time. What happened is people are looking at it And they say, well, Shannon, what about Sharon Moore in Michigan?
Starting point is 00:51:48 What about Aime in Boston? I say, guys, those are subordinates. Ms. Rusini is not an employee of the Patriots. Mike Vrable is not an employee of the athletic. Yeah. In that situation, it's different. So I get it. It's morally wrong.
Starting point is 00:52:11 Both are married. They're going to have to deal with that. with their spouses. But now, hey, maybe it gets so hot that Mr. Krabb doesn't have a choice, but if the reports are true, he tried to catch and kill the story. So he knew about it before the world knew about it.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Well, the thing about there were pictures, he said that I wasn't involved with this woman, but then they went back and found pictures about six or seven years. The glove up his work in the crime. And he was kissing this woman at the bar. So, I mean, that to me. And I'm not saying, I'm not saying, you know, I'm definitely not saying he should be fired or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:52:56 But our society right now is really kind of different. When we're talking about stepping on toes and all this stuff, and he told the story saying, well, you know, you guys are crazy if you think it was a story. Well, you can't stay that kind of stuff. it was the story. But see, here's the thing. Because of your coach and your wife is really not visible,
Starting point is 00:53:21 if they were out in public, you would think, okay, he's married, she's married. That's the couple. You don't know Mike Brables. You people probably have never seen his wife. Now, the likelihood, guess what? They're in different locations. They're not in New York.
Starting point is 00:53:36 They're not in New England. So ain't nobody for the wiser. Ain't nobody know. Well, we know. Well, we know now. How about this? We know now. If you got a wife and nobody has ever seen her and you're out with somebody else,
Starting point is 00:53:54 people are going to naturally assume that's his wife. Yeah. And so now, guess what? We get this out. You know what? I saw them in the casino one time. I saw them in a bar. As a matter of fact, let me go through my phone law.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Let me see a deep photo. See, I got a picture of them, too. Hey, you know what? And another part, I think maybe because I've been, well, Joe, I mean, Brad, you, you as well, Unk, we've been in a lifestyle so much. We've seen so many, so many situations, so many cases, even some that weren't made public or we know about it behind closed doors. But we've seen situations like this so much, like so often over the years. It's like to others, you know, the regular folks, like, oh my God, look what's going on. But it's normal.
Starting point is 00:54:49 And I'm thinking back like to myself, I'm like, it's normal. It's normal. Like in that world, like, y'all going crazy and acting. Like I'm like, and to me, I have to reset and I have to think. Like, okay, you know what? They're not used to this. They're not used to seeing this. And they use the words, what about, you know, morals and integrity?
Starting point is 00:55:10 I'm like, oh my goodness, I just wish you were a part of this world for just a year. You know, and I mean, like it's different. And I think it's hard for people on the outside that aren't in that lifestyle. I don't live in that world to where it's like it's, I'm almost numb to it because I see it all the time. All the time. That's like, I mean, I got in trouble for cursing somebody about like, why did you all talk about this on on nightcap? Why did this is a huge story? And I'm like, like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:55:39 No, it's not. This shit happened all the time. Brad, but you know what, Brad, I had to remember like, Brad, go ahead, go ahead, don't you finish. No, I mean, I had to think, like, I had to reset and remember like, okay, everybody doesn't live in that world
Starting point is 00:55:53 that kind of understand it. So, like, I get it now in a sense. And the thing is, Brad, you know when you was in the league and when I got into the league, reporters would see things. Yeah. And it never got out. You and the, hey, like.
Starting point is 00:56:08 Because, because, I just saw you. I just saw your wife at the criminal part. Because the reporters were hanging with you and they were doing some of the things, same things you would do. They tried to get you. Right. But, but Ocho can say,
Starting point is 00:56:26 Ocho can say right now that, yeah, he's numb to it. But our world has changed from when we were in the league at one time. It's not like it was when we were all in the league. even Joe who's been more recently than us the fact that the world has changed so much to NBA the standards all the stuff around it it's easier now to get women and all those things that happened but at the same time you would
Starting point is 00:56:55 hold a lot more aren't you Joe in this situation it's hey it's easy for your ass to get caught too with all these phones everybody got this right here yeah this was this this was the greatest invention yeah the worst invention at the same time and the funny more relationship right hold on a phone and that email and this is this is this is hey this is this is a funny thing about it too ump you think about technology right and how and how far advanced we've come with with cameras everywhere and camera phones and everybody
Starting point is 00:57:25 having to phone out is all the things that are happening happening today they've been going on for years they were happening before we were here they were happening my grandma was here is just the fact that everything is magnified now because of technology because of social media So nothing is new And just being brought to light At a much more higher rate That's it Yeah
Starting point is 00:57:47 Everything changed I remember Joe I remember Joe Johnson Said something to me And I love this I'm yeah Joe I'm putting step on your toes a little bit I remember when you got to Brooklyn
Starting point is 00:57:57 And I saw you at the game one time You're like Man I never see something Damn pretty women in my life A damn New York City I said you in the land And Joe said Man he said
Starting point is 00:58:09 New York City is on a whole another level. And you are playing with them Brooklyn. You won't play with them the next. Hey man, New York different, bro. I was telling Auga Ocho that, but, you know, I think it's just, it's just
Starting point is 00:58:23 because we're, we have access to so much and we've seen so much, you know, the good, the bad, the ugly, that nothing really surprises us, bro. Like, it's hard to throw, to throw a fastball at me.
Starting point is 00:58:41 And I, you know what I mean? I'm like, well, I've seen this movie before. You know what I mean? But it's like now, it's like now when you think your ass low, you ain't low. Somebody see your ass. There ain't no thousand eyes. Ain't no down low.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Hell no. Uh-huh. Hey, you better keep your nose clean, boy. I see guys, I mean, I see people all the time. I just pretend, hey, how you doing? Nice to meet you. I don't know. Hey, hey, how you doing?
Starting point is 00:59:10 It's nice to see you. I ain't never seen you before in my life, but it's nice to see you. But here's the thing I think was really different about it was, and I was single at the time, but I didn't know that women invested in men the way we invested in them until I got traded to another team. Then I found out about the teacher.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Wait a man, I thought she was weird. But no, she was rich. No, but she was with, and you find out when you go to another team, it's all of a sudden, damn, well, these women are working this thing. And now, even more so, when I think about the money and how big it is and all this stuff, I'm just, I'm just flabbergasted. I look at the, who is your guy that's, his wife is an actor and his wife is an actress, and she got all that money.
Starting point is 01:00:03 former basketball player played with the Knicks. Yeah, he played with the Knicks. He played with Cleveland also. His wife is famous right now. What's her name? You're talking about Tristan. No, he's talking about Tristan Thompson.
Starting point is 01:00:21 I'm talking about his wife right now is doing all these movies. He's on ESPN. Got real dark lips. I don't know who I'm talking about. Imai Shuffer. Yeah. The money he has.
Starting point is 01:00:35 had to give up to his wife. Ex-wife. Yes, ex. Well, the money he had to give up, I don't give a damn what the ex is. That wasn't the damn ex-was. The money he had to give up. He gave up four houses. What one of me four damn houses?
Starting point is 01:00:50 I'm sorry. I'm up here. I might not be on the show ever again, but I'm preaching this thing right now. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. Brad will get up. Brad will get up. No.
Starting point is 01:01:03 Come on. Come on, man. Come on. Hey, hey, like Martin say on thin line between love, hey, she broke me down to my damn brazen. I'm on the damn police station.
Starting point is 01:01:14 Hey, hey. I don't understand. I don't understand it. And I know we're in the era where we see players and we see and celebrities cross together. But when I see some of the finances now,
Starting point is 01:01:29 it's like, it's like Aunt Man gave his baby mama gave her a million dollars. and she wanted to come back and said, now, no, no, no, no, no homes. You didn't give me enough. He signed the new contract. I'm like, damn, what is going on in this world?
Starting point is 01:01:45 Hey, it's a scary, it's a scary, we're in scary times, man, for real. We really in scary times, bro. You got to really be tough. I think you should just go. I'll just go down to Tusties and get my money away down there. I'm good. All right. All right, Brad.
