Asafa Powell always went with the fastest time. He didn't win. Mike Powell is the world. It says 1968. There only can be two men that says i am i held the world record in the long jump bob beeman when he had that intergalactic leap in 1968 890 meters and mike pop mike powell never beat carl lewis in the olympics he broke the record in 91 at the world championships so they had the 92 92 Olympic and the 94 Olympic and the 96 Olympic.

And Powell couldn't beat him. So even though he has the world record, he's not thought of as the greatest long jump for all time. Carl Lewis is because he has four goals. He won 84, 88, 92, and 96. Usain Bolt, people think Usain Bolt is the greatest because he did it on a big stage every single

time. Every time. Had he not got disqualified in Daegu, he was going to win another gold. He was going to win the 100 meters back. He got disqualified. Johan Blake won. But it doesn't matter what your autumn fast times. it doesn't matter how high you

jump how much you live can you lift it that day can you run that fast time that day when it counts we see how many times don't you we see a guy a quarterback he throw for 500 yards one week and the next week he throw for 200 it It don't matter. You're going home. So if you don't run these times, if you don't run this time and you got it, it's rounds. So now all of a sudden, Ocho, you got the opening heat and you got the quarter files.

You got to run rounds. I think people need to understand the pressure that comes with this too. This ain't just your normal races. We not in Oregon. We not at understand the pressure that comes with this too this ain't just your normal races we we we not we not in oregon we not at uh pin relays we at the olympics it's a different ball game and we're not running you're not running in your home country where you're comfortable you're not in jamaica nope you know in your environment nope it was a different ball game so many different factors

coming to play and to run rounds that's what see people don't realize what makes usain bolt and put it in perspective you know you could have a meet where you have like if you're like a 800 meter runner or you're a 1500 meter runner whatever the case may be you could have rabbits and you just running you saying boat a lot of times when he broke the world record right he did it in rounds it wasn't just no one race right so think about he got rounds in those legs and he ran nine six eight i still believe had he not celebrated in beijing that time might have been so that might have been as close as we ever gonna get to see somebody running sub nine. That was, if I just went, that's the only thing. And I don't, you know, I just wish he'd have ran through that tape. Like he did at the world's the following year. Cause I know that time,

that time would have been out of this world. And so for him to run rounds and to run a world record at the end of those rounds it's crazy. It's crazy. Oh yeah.

I'm not saying Shane Thompson didn't run around the Olympic trials, but was this the Olympics? Was this the Olympics? Yeah, I think they're missing the point. You're confusing the two. I've seen a lot of guys win their Olympic trials.

I've seen a lot of women win their Olympic trials. The question is, what made Usain great is that Usain answered the bell every single major meet. Edwin Moses. Edwin Moses had 110 race winning streak, Ocho. Yeah. Carl Lewis went 65 meets and didn't lose a long jump

at all so the question is and I'm not saying Shane Thompson won't win but there's a whole different ball game when the world is watching not just Jamaica y'all understand

that y'all understand it y'all they know what you're talking about they just want to be argumentative yeah but it's it's it's great to see that we've seen it i mean we've seen guys ocho oh they ran great times run great leading into it we see guys be great leading into the olympic trials it's just like bodybuilding and i tell people this all the time that i said everybody looks good standing by themselves can you peak prejudging when they just can can you be ready that day i've seen guys look great on a friday it looked horrible on saturday i've seen guys look great on sund Friday and look horrible on Saturday. If you look at the fastest time, if I'm not mistaken, I think she might have 25 or 30 of the fastest times ever swam in those events. It's just something about Timmis in that 400 meters. The French have a great swim team. But I want to see Ledecky. I would love to see Ledecky follow up that 1,500. I think the 1,500, it just came into effect last Olympics, if I'm not mistaken. But she is the two-time reigning champ in the 800 meters, right? Because I think she took down

Adlington as like a teenager. Was 2012 her first Olympics that she won? I think 2012 was the first. Katie Ledecky out of Beemore.

The Michael Phelps Bowerman camp. 2012? That's when she went up 800 meters. She took down Adlington. So 12, 16. So she's been going for four her fourth gold medal in 800 i mean think about it there ain't a whole lot of people carl lewis is a four-time four-time
