Hi, I'm Sarah Spain, host of Good Game with Sarah Spain and the co-author of the new book Runs in the Family, an incredible true story of football, fatherhood and belonging written with and about Las Vegas Raiders running backs coach Dylan McCullough. It's the story of a football coach and father of four who sees his life forever changed by the unsealing of his adoption records. And it's got a twist you won't believe. Based on the viral ESPN story I did a few years ago, this book will blow your mind and bring you to tears.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Buy runs in the family wherever books are sold. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. He became known as the Iran-Contra affair. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran-Contra on the iHeRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:48 The Volume. Hey, check this out. Let me know what y'all think about this bread and joke. St. John's head coach Rick Patino said he has zero interest in becoming the head coach of the New York Knicks. When asked, absolutely not, Patino said. I think whoever comes in, if he doesn't get to the finals, it's going to be deemed as unsuccessful season.
Starting point is 00:02:23 So whoever comes in got so much pressure on them to take this team to the next level because that's why they're doing it. Obviously it's in their mind. Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday despite reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. The Knicks hadn't reached the NBA Finals since 99 and haven't won a championship since 1973. Well, I was like, because here's the thing was, and this, this is what happens. This is what gets you fired. This is what causes you to be a bus is expectations.
Starting point is 00:02:59 You see, once the Knicks knocked off the Celtics bread, everybody's Oh, they go into the final. Man, they better than the players. They go into the final. Whoa, we going to the finals. They started coming out with all these stats. Every home game of what? The New York economy make 91 million. They can make $500 million if they go all the way to the NBA finals and play a game seven. So now Tom Fimiddle had unrealistic expectations. Because let me ask you a question. Would you have fired him if he had lost to the Celtics?
Starting point is 00:03:29 You beat Detroit, but you lose to the Celtics. Would you have fired him? But Steve, once you beat the Celtics. You know, I think that was already in the works with Tom Fibbedo because a lot of people were complaining about the players and the minutes that he had. So I think people work on top of that.
Starting point is 00:03:49 So I think they got mad about that. I thought he did a great job, especially in this last game, but the expectation, the guy you're going to see is Michael Malone is going to be the next head coach of the New York Knicks. And the reason I'm saying that because he comes, he comes right now from where he's going to be in Denver. He lost that job. He won a championship.
Starting point is 00:04:14 He's connected right now with the people right now who are in the front office. That is the guy I think that they're going to pick for the next coach. And the thing about it, you have to be able to also deal with the media. What we know about him is always been, oh, he's been, and he's great dealing with the media. So it's a job. And you were saying about Rick Pitino, saying there was no, he had no interest.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Don't worry. Don't worry. They ain't had no interest. Well damn, that's how you feel about Rick Pitino playing? Don't worry about it. They ain't got no interest in me either. What? So you got Mike Malone replacing Tims, who you got replacing him, Joe?
Starting point is 00:04:59 Because you still got Boone nose out there. You got Frank Bogle out there. Y'all need to bring Mike Brown out there you got Frank Bogle out there Johnny Brown Mike Brown is out there yeah yeah they need to give all they need to give Sam Casale a chance you know what that's the name I've been hearing a lot too guys uh Sam I think Casale it's probably his time to you know get him get him a head coaching job but I don't think he will give it to a first time guy to the next because the expectations are too high Yeah, hey, listen, I remember like 94 last I said I said Mike Malone. Yeah, I said Mike Brown
Starting point is 00:05:32 I also said Mike or Mark Jackson, but I obviously candidate to be the Knicks head coach was Was Mike Malone and I said one of the first thing I said cornbread It got to be somebody that's able to be media savvy that can deal with that New York media and them New York fans, cause they don't play no games. They don't play no game. I think that, and I talked to, I talked to Sam Cassell cause he's assistant coach right now with the South.
Starting point is 00:05:56 I would love for him to get a job like that. But in that particular market right now, they're looking for a marquee name. Yeah. Sam's name isn't a marquee name because he hasn't been a head coach before. You're not coming in there with a, uh, somebody who was unproven in the New York mix. You can't, you can't do that. Follow me.
Starting point is 00:06:19 You know, those animals and those, yeah, I tried to tell that to all the Nick fans over there, Shannon, I told them. I said, act like you've been there before. Act like you've been there before. Then I said, oh, damn it, you ain't been there before. And Spike Lee and all them dudes over there, all them players over there. And then Joe, this is what I loved about him.
Starting point is 00:06:39 John Starks looked like he was there playing in the game. Get your ass off the damn court. Get your ass off. Oh. Hey, hey, hey, they had a whole Nick's alumni session over there, man. He was damn playing in the game Hey, hey, hey they had a whole nice alumni Hey, they brought him out listen y'all know but y'all do know if they would have made the finest boy Hey, it would have been say it would have been another level. It would have been. Oh yeah. It's something about when like the nigs or the Lakers, man come on man. They just, they'd be doing too much.
Starting point is 00:07:11 They'd be doing too much. All right guys, Shaq just gave his updated list on the top 10 players of all time. He got Michael Jordan at one, Kobe at two, LeBron at three, Magic at one, Kobe at two, LeBron at three, Magic at four, Russell at five, Chamberlain at six, Bird at seven, Dream at eight, Duncan at nine, Dr. J at 10.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Do you like the list, Brad? You dislike the list or you wanna move somebody around? Did you say, did you say Bird? He had Bird in seven. I don't think it's seven. Yeah. He said Bird in seven. He didn't put stuff in there, right?
Starting point is 00:07:52 I tell you what, I tell you, how do you get away from, you say you got Tim Duncan in it, don't you? You got Tim Duncan in nine. Nine. Man, well he got a pretty good list. So you say Shaq took himself out of this? Well, he's not on it. So he got Dr. J at 10.
Starting point is 00:08:09 What? Shaq always been saying, I'm the beast. I'm more of a beast than anybody else. I like- Shaq is probably like, that stress that Shaq had from old, from like 2000 to 2002, 2003. That was like world champion for 10 years. You'll never go see that again.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Ain't nobody, cause there is not gonna be somebody that big, that agile, that can run like Shaq. People don't realize how athletic and gifted and mobile, nimble Shaq was. See they look at Shaq now and they see how he move. He had had his ear replaced and you know, he's probably 350. He say he dropped weight at one point, he was 400 and he dropped down. He lost like 50 pounds.
Starting point is 00:08:51 So they're looking at this Shaq now. But when Shaq got to the league and when Shaq was... Yeah, he was a problem. He was a problem for everybody except the one guy that, you know, I think to me, my best player, I always talk about, I think should be a team Elijah one. And then this is why I say the dream to me is the best because he controlled a game better than anybody on both ends of the floor. Jordan controlled his land, but the king could shut down that side defensively and he could kill you on the opposite of the floor. Jordan controlled his land, but Akeem could shut down that side defensively
Starting point is 00:09:27 and he could kill you on the opposite end. There's nobody's been like him since playing the game. I love all those other names you said. Kareem, all these guys, Russell, man, but I'm taking... Hold on, hold on. Now that you mention that, he ain't got Kareem on there. What? Now that you mention that, I'm looking at it now.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Who you taking out? Who you taking out? Who you gonna take out? I gotta put my glasses on like Ocho now. Oh hell no. No, you ain't got Kareem up there? The captain? Brad, who you gonna take out, Brad?
Starting point is 00:10:00 I love Dr. J. Dr. J got it started for us, cause you know, we grew up in there with him. I love Dr. J, but. J got it started for us, for us. Cause you know, we grew up with him. I love Dr. J, but Dr. J is not on my list of Kareem's not up there. Kareem gotta be on that list. Kareem gotta be on that list, man. Dr. J made the game sexy before MJ did. He did.
Starting point is 00:10:22 But Kareem, you look at his numbers and what he did. College, pros. I mean, this man is a walking encyclopedia. Y'all better go look at Kareem's numbers. I love Doc. Doc won one championship. How many career, how many career win? But you know, Doc best year, but you, but you gotta agree to this. Doc best years with it. A lot of Doc's best years with the ABA. ABA, ABA.
Starting point is 00:10:52 When he's with the Nass and the Squires and all that. Doc. I saw, I saw the show that you had Charles Barkley on. And Charles Barkley said, you were talking about that fight that they had. When you said Charles Barkley said, he didn't grab Larry Bird and pull his arms down. He's a damn lie. Because I was standing right behind it.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah. And I tried to choke Charles Barkley out. I was like, damn, he got in and I put them three big paws right in there. His face hit him three times. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Damn. I was like, Joe, it was crazy. And I mean, it was, I have never seen anything like that
Starting point is 00:11:29 in my life, man. And it was like a melee. Like you in a bar, and you just swinging and punching. I don't care who it was. You might hit your damn teammates. That's what the NBA to me, that was when it was really sexy. And you know if a guy really wanted to play it not and I understand what you said Joe you keep talking about this money and all this stuff, but at some point
Starting point is 00:11:52 You're gonna be a man and you're gonna swing on somebody if you're gonna think about your purse. I know I wouldn't Play for Cleveland Hunter you see how you went at a matter and when they played him how you did. Hey, knock him down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, yeah, you sure enough is enough now Yeah, I think the two for me the two guys that get that don't get the credit or the respect they deserve Is Kareem and Tim Duncan? Yeah, people don't realize how good Tim Duncan was. Man, hear me about it. They don't. And then, please, people just look at Kareem, and I think you came on the later years,
Starting point is 00:12:31 and it had, like, by the time he got to, like, 85, it was truly Magic's team. It was Magic's team before that, but it was really, really Magic's team. But you go back and look at Kareem's them six years that he stayed with, he was with Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Red, you better tell him. Oh, man, that dude right there was unbelievable. And that's the one shot we look at Ocho and Joe and Shannon, the Sky Hook. Ain't nothing ever been like that. Nobody's ever had the automatic thing where you talk about that sky look and it was that it was a money. It was, I don't care what you did. You knew it was coming, but that damage you couldn't stop.
Starting point is 00:13:14 And he was going to score on that box regardless. And the big fella, he was, he was the reason why I was in college. I wore number 33 because he was my favorite player until he elbowed me one time, Joe. And for no damn reason, I was like, damn, it didn't hurt me. It didn't hurt me, Shannon, but it hurt my damn feelings. I can tell you that. That's all I'll say. And my favorite player elbowed me for no reason. But you know, Kareem had a mean streak. Ask Kurt Benson.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ask Kurt Benson. Kareem didn't play that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, But what about that whooping where you were standing there you talked with somebody if you told them They will cut they will come that they were coming and and and when nobody stepped between you. Okay, let's know So we got Michael Kobe LeBron magic Russell will bird Hakeem Duncan. Dr. J. I got to go. I got to have, I got to have to read it. And I'm sorry. And Joe, I know you think it is sexy with them big hands, but I had the garden's ass, so I ain't going with, I ain't going with that bullshit
Starting point is 00:14:34 you talk about right now. So I'm going with Kareem, that's Scott Hook, the unbelievable shot. He was the captain. He was, he's the damn captain unbelievable shot. He was the captain. He's the damn captain, man. He scored more points than anybody until LeBron passed. He was just that good. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:14:52 But you know what it is, and that, you know, looking at it and looking at people talk about best this and best that, the bigs really never get the credit because they need a small guy to get them the ball. Russell didn't get the credit he deserves.. Russell didn't get the credit he deserves. Uh, we'll didn't get the credit he deserves. Uh, Kareem to get the credit he deserves. Uh, none of the beat, they don't give big credit like they do guards.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Yeah. They gave it, they gave a little bit up to Ross because the number of range he wanted Russell. Yes. And the one that you looked at going, you know, he was so great on the deep, but Russell also was surrounded by some great scores. He had also raised scores. But here's the thing though.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Most great players don't have in their prime have other players on the team winning MVP. Tom Heisen beat Russell out for rookie of the year, if I'm not mistaken, Cornbread. I don't think he did. I think Tom came after him. Now, I tell you what, as Joe would say, who beat Larry Bird out for the first championship MVP.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Man, go ahead on. Stop bragging. Look at me in the face. Look, Sham, pick your damn head up. Look me in the eyes right now. Look me in the damn eyes. That's what I need you to. Look at me in the face. Look, little champ, pick your damn head up. Look me in the eyes right now. Look me in the damn eyes. That's what I need you to do. Look me in the eyes. You the captain now, you the captain now.
Starting point is 00:16:10 There you go, there you go. I was a damn big dog. Hey, cornbread, you was out there getting to it. What was going on in that series? They were doubling, Bird, you were getting to it or they just couldn't guard you? Yeah, that was a problem, Joe. First I had Billy Paul solely,
Starting point is 00:16:27 then they put Moses Malone on me. Hey, they put a bunch of guys on me. But when nobody's stopping me. Nah, they had Moses Malone, I think Robert Reed was on that team. They tried Robert Reed to cover you. No, Robert Reed was guarding Larry Bird. Here's the thing that you wouldn't know. Joe, Joe, Joe, I got a go-go for you. This is a trivial question, Joe.
Starting point is 00:16:51 How many points, now Kevin McHale was on that team. How many points you think Kevin McHale averaged during the NBA finals versus the Houston Rockets in 1981? Kevin McHale, I say 10. versus the Houston Rockets in 1981. She killed my kill. I saved 10. No, I'm gonna say about 20. 4.
Starting point is 00:17:16 24. Four points, Joe. Four points. Go back and get this. Four points. Go back and get the set. Four points. You won't go looking at stuff. Four points during that time. As great as he was, it wasn't his time yet. So you look at those things and you're going,
Starting point is 00:17:35 okay, as great as he was, it wasn't his time. He is the one that great. You're having a bad routine though, Brea. I mean, cause y'all, the point guard. I mean. Tiny Archibald was your point guard back then, Tiny. it was you, Tiny, McHale, Parrish, Bird. Yep, yep, yep, yep. On ML Park.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Yeah, we have a stick and we have some guys with some big balls over there during that particular time. I loved it, because I know all these Laker haters, they gonna be, you know, ticksin' you and all this stuff. No, but I gonna be you know, uh, tixing you and all this stuff. No, but I want to tell you because hey dude, I want to tell you the history of the game. Uh, here's the thing. Uh, Heisman played an NBA All-Star game. It was named NBA Rookie of the Year over teammate. Who is his teammate, Brad? Wow. See that when people started arguing with me all choice about you don't know what you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:18:25 I thought he was in the league before Tom. I thought Russell. Did I just say he was rookie in the year? Did I tell you rookie in the year over what you call him? Russell. I thought Russell was. I don't know what you thought. I love what you're saying and I know your facts, but I think this is me thinking Bill
Starting point is 00:18:42 Russell was in the league before Tom Heism came from Holy Cross. Bill Russell was in the league before him. All I know in 56, was he on that championship team in 56? Excuse me, that Olympic team in 56 that won the gold medal San Francisco with him and He won he won. He won the gold medal And one of those Olympic Games. I know that that was you say 56. I think it might have been I don't think I don't Just me thinking now cuz I'm I don't want you to know I think that Russell was already on the team before that particular time. And I've heard some stories, especially from Bill Russell and Joe and Ocho.
Starting point is 00:19:35 And they told me stories about the racism that went on during that time, man. That makes you, it makes, as a black man. He put it in his book. How them boys won. How them boys won to me was crazy because I looked at, they was talking about how, that's why him and Ward Chamberlain were the best friends because they couldn't go in other restaurants and eat out. And they would eat with each other. So they would go on their mom's side and Russell, I remember Russell saying,
Starting point is 00:20:02 look Ward Chamberlain was sleeping in my damn bed because my mom like, look, what's coming over, we're going to feed him. And those two guys battle, but they did it because of the racial climate, which was involved in the NBA and all sports in a particular time. So that's one of the things. His daughter, his daughter told a story about here. He was the most popular athlete in Boston and somebody put a rich lepetap and defecated in his house.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. That's true. His daughter told his daughter told a story that they had a, they had a parade, they had a, they had like a banquet for him and it was in Redding, Massachusetts, and he went to the banquet and came home and somebody had taken the shit in his bed. Yeah
Starting point is 00:20:51 Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's how that's that's that's the real that's a real story right there. That's the real story So I I have to respect Bill Russell on what he did as a man Especially during our time. Coming up at that time, don't brand. As black men. Yeah. As black men coming up during that time, let's look at some of those guys like Russell, let's look at Chamberlain, let's look at, uh, uh, Muhammad Ali, uh,
Starting point is 00:21:18 it was Kareem, all those guys band together, man. And they made it, they made it possible for us to do what we're doing right now on these particular shows. That's why I always try to pay homage to those guys that were waiting for me. I think for me is that going, growing up in the South and hear my grandfather tell stories, you have to have an appreciation because when you like a lot of these sayings, when you hear somebody say a barrel of laughs, you know where that term came from? When you walk down the street in the South, you couldn't laugh in public.
Starting point is 00:21:51 You had to stick your head in a barrel. Wow. So a black person couldn't laugh out loud. He had to stick his head in the barrel and laugh. That's where the term a barrel of laughs came from. So to hear your grand, my grandfather and my great grandmother, my great grandmother was born in 1900. So to hear that story lived through the Great Depression, she lived until she was 92. And to tell the story, man, it make you cry.
Starting point is 00:22:18 I mean, just to hear the just boy, them are some strong people. They don't, they don't make them. Don't use that word, boy. Don't use that word, boy. That's the one word, you know, Shannon, that's the one word as a man of color that you weren't gonna hear when you came up, especially us later on, boy.
Starting point is 00:22:38 But you know what, Bray? My grandma, my grandma, they really never call me by name. They call you boy, son. Come here, son. Hey, boy, hey. really never called me my name. They call you boy son. Come here son. Hey boy, hey. Look, I ain't talking about that. I'm talking about when I saw young white kids call a grown ass black man and call him a boy.
Starting point is 00:22:59 That's to me. Or calling by his bread, or calling by his first name, or calling by, not because we grew up, you had to call somebody, they might not be able to, like two or three years old and you had to say mister or sir, but there's somebody like 20 that's old enough to be your granddad, and they call him, hey Joe, but that's all through me.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Hey, it's so funny, it's so funny too, when you think about it, too, cornbread Joe, I mean, I'm not sure if all of us, and people in the chat, I don't sure if all of us and people in the chat I don't know if all of y'all the senior centers yet. You see what word they use the most in centers boy We grew up in the South that's the way they talk back Joe you and Britain I'm a little closer You know, how old are you Joe? I'm 44
Starting point is 00:23:42 Okay, so we're the same you're the same age from me as I am from cornbread. I grew up in, you grew up in Alabama, I mean Arkansas, and I grew up in rural, rural South Georgia. But that's what they said. That's how they addressed you. Yeah, that's what they talk. Yeah, yeah. Go down there.
Starting point is 00:23:59 I mean, hey, hey, Mary, them boys, them boys, they working today, Mary? Which one of you boys can drive? Which one of you boys can do this? Yeah, tell them boy, that was my grandmother telling me the story, I remember, and I was in South Georgia, I was in Whitman, Georgia, and my grandmother told me, she said, Mr. Ed, which they called him, Mr. Ed got a farmer, and you me, she said, Mr. Ed, which they call him, Mr. Ed got a farmer and you boys, he said, tell them boys to come up here and get these watermelons while I cut them up.
Starting point is 00:24:32 And see, I'm 70 years, I'm going to be 70. So it's a big difference in how I look at things and view things. And, and the prism of how things are now to me is it's like night and day when I think about black, white and all that stuff. But I remember it just like yesterday. That was, that was, you know what they used to have, I don't know if y'all had them there, but we used to have those, they were like those jockeys and they'd be in the people's yard. You know what I'm talking about, Brad? Come on, come on now. Hold the lantern in the hand.
Starting point is 00:25:12 What you talking about? You know what? Don't worry about Shannon. I saw one of those last year up in the mountains of North Carolina. They were selling it. They were selling that thing. That jockey you talking about, you might think things have gone away.
Starting point is 00:25:27 They ain't going away that far. They right around the corner. They right around the damn corner. It ain't too far off. I know I'm a little younger than y'all, but I grew up in a neighborhood called Fushtown Pike. That's in Little Rock, Arkansas on the east side of town. We called it Fushtown Pike because we had a dam.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Like we should go fishing now. Well, I had two of my little white homies, Ronnie and Johnny, they lived in the neighborhood. Every time I would go to their house to get them, we'd walk to the dam to go fishing. Their grandmother was the racist woman in the world. They would prep me before I'd come over there, man. You know, my grandma, she's going to be tripping. But soon as I step on the porch, I'm gonna cornbread and Ocho, she called me nigga from the jump.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Like, who would take on my porch? To the point, hey listen, I swear to God, I can't make this up, I can't make this up. Starting point is 00:28:06 What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Starting point is 00:28:42 podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. No one was let go. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. No one was let go. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions.
Starting point is 00:29:09 In just a second, I'm going to ask a… I'm Leon Neyvac, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:29:59 The Jamaican national team is looking stacked, the basketball team. Benin Forum that talks underway, Raptors all-star, Scotty Barnes, Detroit Pistons Center, Isel Stewart, Spurs guards, Devin Vassal, to join the Jamaican growing basketball team. Twin brothers, Armand and Ansoor Thompson, begun their passport process last week. They gonna still get the hell beat out of them. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Aw. Hey, hey, hey. get the hell beat out of them? Okay. Well. First of all, y'all not gonna beat the Americas. Y'all not gonna beat the French team. Y'all, I don't know. Y'all hope y'all get captain. Running sprint. Y'all got some sprinters. Basketball now, bro. There's been no cool runs.
Starting point is 00:30:43 You're right from that standpoint. People should, the next coming isn't necessarily that team, but it's the French team. It's the French team. When they got that big, that big free goal, and Wimby at seven foot five, and running the way he does, and changing the game again,
Starting point is 00:31:02 that's the next team that I'd be afraid of because they got some other players over there from France that can play the game. And I love, yeah, the guy at Philly. Yeah. But selling, he was like, uh, you know, uh, they got four nor and they got, uh, uh, Nicholas Bethune. I mean, they got, they got some good guys now it's going to be in combat because you know, LeBron's, Steph and Katie, they can't play
Starting point is 00:31:24 forever, bread, forever, Brad. They can't play forever. And you can't lose, you can't not lose on home soil. 28 is in LA. That's your board right now. Here's what I'll ask you, Shannon and Joe and Ocho. How many more years can that man play? LeBron James.
Starting point is 00:31:43 He got to, I believe he can still average over 20 for the next two years. Hey listen, if he can average 20, but if he can average 20 the next two, then he can average 20 the next three. Hey. Joe, is he putting that thing on the reach right now, scoring wise?
Starting point is 00:32:01 Yeah, come on. Every time he touch the court, he putting that, he putting it further and further away, nobody catching that break. You know, that man put them played 22 seasons, man, at the highest level. He ain't just out there getting eight to 10 points. That man out there baller. So yeah, he's going to be out of reach because you got to have longevity, not only longevity, but you got to, you got to be him.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Yeah. Yeah. Longevity not only longevity, but you got to you got to be here. Yeah Luca but do we actually think Luca gonna play 20 seasons? No Everybody be broken down next week Shannon I hate to tell you that everybody gonna be broken down next week. Come on. Come on 20 years of what? Oh, or what? That's upsticking. I know you're a Laker fan and you're a LeBron fan and all that stuff. LeBron fan. But what the Lakers are waiting for right now, maybe they're waiting for the next LeBron
Starting point is 00:32:58 son to come out. Maybe they're going to draft him. What's that? Bryce, what's his name? Bryce. Bryce is the... for him to Brown. Want to play with him too? Yeah. So he'd have to play. He would have to play 20 40 because Bryce got to go to college. That'll be 23 next year.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And for wait for Bryce, that'll be 24. It becomes out. So that'll be 24. He might have to wait to play 25. That is the most amazing stat that we look at when we start looking at his age, his longevity, what he's done. He's been healthy for most of his career. I, as much as you know, and I admire him as a player, but my God, I just would
Starting point is 00:33:38 never even, I, when I got to be 40, all that stuff he's doing right now, that should look dangerous to me. I can't do that. me 40 all that stuff he's doing right now. That should look dangerous to me. I mean, I look at Joe right now, play it in this three on three and then look dangerous to me right now. I'm like, yeah, you're doing that. I get scared when I, I get scared when I'm coming down the steps right now. I'm sorry. I'm good.
Starting point is 00:34:02 And think about this, uh, bread and Joe at age 40, he's second team, right now. I'm sorry. I'm good. Think about this bread and Joe at age 40. He's second team all NBA. I Think that's the most impressive thing is the fact that he's playing 22 seasons That's impressive in itself, but it's the statistics level. Yeah, what he's putting up like night in and night out Like at that at that age man, that's unreal. So we haven't seen anything like this Uh, you know, I don't know if you'll see it again 24 8 8 Year 22, but here's the best thing about LeBron I think as great as he is offensively and all these other things as his mental approach to the game Yeah, I have never seen anybody and when I played I knew some of my plays
Starting point is 00:34:45 anybody and when I played, I knew some of my plays, but LeBron knows where everybody should be. If you talk to LeBron after a game, he has a photogenic memory where he picks and he can tell you about play after play and this happened and that happened and I got a file here. I have never seen anybody like this man. This is just like, he's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Hey, another thing that I think that helps him is that, you know, the game has changed so much. Fellas that, you know, it's not necessarily traditional two Bs, hell, he probably the second biggest guy on the court now. Yeah. I mean, so he's able to kind of guard some of these big guys and kind of just kind of sit in the weeds
Starting point is 00:35:22 and kind of save his energy for offense as Opposed to early in his career, you know, it was a look. Yeah to carry the load. Yeah He had to care he had to carry the load I mean he had to carry the load and so now and now they taking him off the ball They put the ball in Lucas hand. Yeah, they let AR have the ball. So now he's off the ball bread He's in that dunker spot. Now. He could just like a Luca y'all handle that a AR y'all handle that I'm just go. Hey Do what I do? like, hey, Luca y'all handle that. Hey, AR, y'all handle that. I'm just going, hey, do what I do. Oh, Gus Smith. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:35:48 What I love seeing him play now is I see him playing volleyball. He's just getting down at 250, 260 pounds. He just running over dude right now. And the thing about, I don't think that, and Joe, here's the thing. They don't let you take no charges no more. You take the charges and they'll do a walk in your chest.
Starting point is 00:36:09 So I'm just like, I don't know how you stop a guy like that that just made his career as strong as he is. But when you think about it, he's one of probably what? Only four or five guys who post up now. Yeah. A lot of guys post up. Bron post up a lot. You know, he post up, he plays in the mid post, he plays on the low block.
Starting point is 00:36:30 So a lot of that works into his favor because he's always going to have a mismatch. It don't matter who guarding him. You know what I mean? Yep. Yeah, you're right. Here's the thing you should say, Shad. You should say, and this will be an argument,
Starting point is 00:36:43 I know it will, that Bron James is the greatest athlete ever that we've seen. You should say, you should say, and this will be an argument. I know it will. LeBron James is the greatest athlete ever that we've seen. Wow. You think, tell me somebody. Huh? Better than Bowen time? Bowen time.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Bow can, Bow can hit, Bow can do that. LeBron James was playing football like a, like, like a, who are there one time? If he, if he had the side to play yeah and and how our head coordination he is the greatest athlete and longevity how long did both play how long did both play now look at both both both both okay 85, he was number one overall draft pick in 85, um, to Tampa. Uh, Hugh Culverhouse, he told him, if you draft me, I'm not coming because he had saw what happened with, uh, with everybody else that had gone there. And they did, they took him anyway. And he said, I'm going to play baseball, but both played, let's see,
Starting point is 00:37:42 blue played 89, blue played 88, 89, 90. Yeah, I'll be talking like I got. The longevity Shannon. Probably five, I think both out of play like five years. Ocho, Ocho, Ocho, the longevity. You tell me an athlete who has done that. Just give me one. Give me one athlete that we can think of has done that at that high level for that
Starting point is 00:38:04 many years without falling up. Even the great Michael Jordan at the end, we saw him. He wasn't, he was Mike, but he wasn't Mike Thor, no more. So you look at, you look at LeBron, people who still right now, there are a lot of players like Jason Tatum right now. They respect the hell out of him. And that to me irks me because I don't like to see guys you know respect another guys but from a long he's the he's the greatest athlete that we have known who give me one give me one Shannon I would tell me people who like all them people. Oh, Brady Brady. Tom Brady, Tom Brady, good one. Fast as me right now.
Starting point is 00:38:49 You know, I'm going to come on. Tom Brady, how is great. Now, what else can Tom Brady do? Drink alcohol. What else do you do? Come on. Give me a greater athlete of the long. Yeah, not not not not with that longevity.
Starting point is 00:39:03 No, nobody. The great we have seen during our particular time. And you can go back. I know a lot of your, your callers or your people text you. You tell me the person you want us to talk about. Tell me anybody the Olympics, anybody who has been a bit that dude is fast. I said, he's fast. He's strong.
Starting point is 00:39:24 He's quick. He's smart. I's strong. He's quick. He's smart. I mean, give me somebody, Shannon. Nah, not, not, not at that level. A new report, Kevin Durant camp views San Antonio Spurs as a preferred landing spot. And there's been reports of mutual interest since the trade deadline. A trade package for KD would most likely include Devin Vassel, Harrison Barnes, and the number 14 overall pick. Another report from the Athletics says the Suns have started
Starting point is 00:39:51 to lower their asking price since the conclusion of the season. Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix who have gradually lowered their asking price for Durant. Remember, he's about to be 37, 37 and the injury history. You have to factor that in. You just do. I understand KD is great. He's been great since he set those sides.
Starting point is 00:40:19 I think he was a size 17 or 18 in the NBA, but he is about to be 37 and he does have an injury history. I think, I think he would be. Go ahead. Y'all. I think if you put him with, if you put him like with Houston, like on a team that where you don't have to do so much dirty work, I feel like with Phoenix, he, he, he had to do a lot of dirty work, meaning defensively and offensively
Starting point is 00:40:43 carry them, which was a lot. You put them with some of these young, these youngsters and some of these dudes who, who are, you know, blue collar workers to where he don't have to work as hard and he can just kind of score the basketball. You know what I mean? I think, I think his injury history are kind of, you know, it'll kind of fade. I think, I think he'll fit seamlessly with a lot of these things because he's a natural, he he's a natural
Starting point is 00:41:05 he's just a natural scorer shooter and If you could if you could play off him or get him in positions to where he's playing off a lot of these other Guys who are who are demanding double teams, man. He's gonna shine Y'all see how that boy look in the USA basketball man. He get him in this shots with 12 shots a game But he's so efficient 8 for 11 9, 12 shots a game, but he's so efficient, eight for 11, nine for 12, and he gonna put up the numbers, he just gotta get the looks. He is, he's perfect, he would be perfect for San Antonio,
Starting point is 00:41:33 playing with that, with the freaks. Wimby, DeFawn Castle. And the thing that he, that I love about him, he doesn't need the ball. Most guys in. He doesn't need the ball. Most guys in NBA right now need the ball. LeBron needs the ball to be effective. That's why him and Luca, I don't know how that's going to ever, you know, the marriage is going to work because LeBron needs the ball to be effective. Now these days, what we know about KD is KD gets to a spot.
Starting point is 00:42:01 You get him a basketball bucket. That's all he ain't got to drill. Oh, he ain't got to a spot, you get in basketball, buck him. That's all. He ain't got the drill, he ain't got to do nothing now, buck it. So I would love to see if he went, if he got in and went to San Antonio. I think it'd be a perfect match with a young veteran, with a guy like him, because here's a guy that Joe, we know, the only guy we know, one of the few guys we know, has been a finals MVP with a team.
Starting point is 00:42:25 He's done it twice. And this, and this, he did it with Steph's team. This was supposed to be Steph's team, but he was a damn man for that team. And, and if, if he hadn't been kicked out of there, I don't know if we'd still be talking about dynasty, come on Joe, stop playing, stop it there. Hey, listen, listen, I agree because I I had I had a chance to play against you know that that warrior scene what Katie was only when I was in Utah we played him in the second round and Man, it's a cheat code man. You isn't nothing you can do with that. There's nothing you can do with that. Yeah, I got you
Starting point is 00:43:01 If they had not been for if hadn't been for maybe the other gentleman who got him out of, out of a golden state. Oh, the guy that you like so much. Yeah. Yeah. The guy I like so much, the guy I like so much, but, but, but that's part of what, you know, what seemed to, and I've read some articles on this, which seemed to have alienated him, what went on with him and Draymond Green is the reason why he decided to leave.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Yeah. Blitzer report had a wild trade idea to send Jah Maran to Miami. The Heat will receive Jah. The Grizzlies will receive Andrew Wiggins, Miko, Jaime, Haqqez, Pele. 2029 first round pick and a 2031 pick swap. Should the Heat try and get job this off season?
Starting point is 00:43:47 What? I already told you what was going to happen. Nobody wanted to listen to me. Now all of a sudden small stuff like this comes out and it's coming from somewhere. But when I told you ahead of time that Yonis and John Marant was coming to the heat, everybody called me crazy. But again, I told you first. I told you. Oh Joe, I'll say this.
Starting point is 00:44:08 You better not have no guns down there with John Wick coming down there. I know that. Are we gonna, listen, listen. There's no firearms down in Miami, I know that. Listen, John, John gonna be in good hands here, man. He gonna be in good hands. Hey, hey.
Starting point is 00:44:21 We gonna be, we got the right people, we got the right people around him. He gonna be all right. Hey, hey, hey, y'all know, boy, you gotta have some discipline playing down there in Miami now. Oh yeah, he good, he good. He gonna be with me.
Starting point is 00:44:32 He good, he gonna be with me. Oh, Lord. Who he gonna be with? With me, you just heard the key words, right? You said discipline, right? Yeah. Who better than to hang with, than somebody who don't go nowhere at all?
Starting point is 00:44:43 All I do is play video games. So why would you want to hang out with you? The discipline. What are you talking about? That's what we're talking about. Stay tuned. I like steak, you like pizza. Why we hanging out? I can't hang out with you because I need you focused while you hear the crib I'm gonna take listen. Hey, hey cornbread. I'm gonna take over you been to to see No, I've never before. Okay. Well, come on. Come on down Miami. I'm gonna take you to Tootsies. I'm gonna take John to Tootsies. John wouldn't know if Miami got an offer. I'm gonna make sure wherever he go, I'm there. No problem.
Starting point is 00:45:31 They ain't what we need, Ocho. We don't need to be in Tootsies, Ocho. He sure don't. Let's get to this next topic. Whoa, whoa, whoa, we going to eat, huh? Seafood, rice, and ramen together. I don't know restaurants they got up. Nah, tell me, what's that spot that got that, what's that spot they got that thousand dollar steak?
Starting point is 00:45:46 Magic City. Poppin' steak, poppin' steak. Poppy, we go to Poppy, what's the other one? Magic City. Then you go, bruh, and hell nah. I think a surprise. Joseph Joe knows about that place. Hey, pop, poppin' steak.
Starting point is 00:46:01 If you spent more than a day in Atlanta, you know about that place Hey, I got him I got After signing a two-year 20 million dollar extension in February Lonzo ball expected to be made available in trade talks by the bull balls 10 million dollar annual salary which includes a team option for 26, 27 is easily digestible for contending teams in need of a guard depth. Could we see Lonzo and Mello on the same team? I know their dad has always envisioned his boys playing together.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Could this be the opportunity that they play together, Brad? No, no, I, I'll ask you another question since you read all this right now. No, no, I'll ask you another question since you read all this right now The word is that the Lakers right now are interested in Christophor Zegnitz That ain't no big they need a big Way is big Nah, no, he's slim. He be and when He ain't no big. He wanna play like a guard. You want him or you want Alex Lin?
Starting point is 00:47:08 What you want? Alex Lin was in Boston too. He good and terrible too. Oh my God. I think that this year is going to be a bunch of trades. I'm like, Oh Joe, there's going to be a bunch of things going on. The only thing I'd be concerned about is we talked about the discipline. Pat Riley runs a really tight ship.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Now can he fit into that heat culture? Cause he culture has always been sacrificed for the team. The better the team, I'm not sure. And I've seen John Murray, he's as talented as anybody in his sleep, but is he, can he put himself in that system playing on the Pat Rowley and the Heat organization? That to me, I don't see that happening. It don't, it don't happen, Brad. I don't talk to him, I don't shut down with him, you know? I don't talk to Jar and he has great understanding on what he needs to do to come here.
Starting point is 00:48:19 You know, you only get so many opportunities, you only get so many chances. Young Bull ready for the move though. Young boy ready, he's ready for Miami. Miami's ready to embrace him here in the 305 at Dade County in Liberty City. I'm telling you, y'all don't be listening to me when I tell you. First I told you a month ago, I told you he was coming here.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Y'all laughed at me. Now all of a sudden, now you hear reports about him coming. Ba-da! You see? Hey, Ochoa, Ochoa, Pat, Pat, hey, you gotta be in there every Friday, weight and body fat. They gonna be, you weight and body fat. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we good. I'ma, hey.
Starting point is 00:48:54 They got pre-practice before practice. You know what? D Wade and UD, they all in pre-practice before practice. Right. Yeah, look, and they gonna have people out there in the club, so they gonna know when you out and about and trying to shake your tail for the year. He ain't gonna be in the club, he gonna be with me. He good, I got him.
Starting point is 00:49:11 We ain't going out, we locked in, we focused. We trying to get back out of winning ways. Yeah, all right, all right. What you laughing at? I'm just saying, you're saying Tootsie, you're saying Tootsies, is that word? That's where it said Miami? Tootsie's.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Upstairs, upstairs, cornbread. Hey, come down here, you can go with me. Matter of fact, if you go without me, just tell them Ocho sent you, you good. Man, come on man, come on, come on. What? Soon you walk in Tootsie's, it's scattered, it's everywhere, come on now.
Starting point is 00:49:41 Come on now. Hey, it's nothing, it's a dope ballet. That's all it is. A dope ballet. Dope ballet. Okay. Great. We're great. We're five star food though.

It's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q&A. Red, it's way past your bedtime. We appreciate you staying up. We know your old ass is in the bed at nine o'clock. Thank you. Thank you. Marco Polo TV said SGA not PGA, Lou Dort on the wrong dork,
Starting point is 00:53:37 chat not in the game, Halle in a hally, the coach was a racer, kept them alive, aces in five. Yeah, come on. Red85 said Halle Burton, the heart-smasher, diabolical. Yeah, he put the people to bed tonight. JJ said, fellas, Halle has gone and have to play some defense this series. Well, he keep making the game with the shots and then the game is closing and he can't play no defense.
Starting point is 00:54:07 Man, I hear the comments. Should OKC have started the fourth with SGA? No, because that's not what they normally do, but considering they normally start Hartenstein and not the other guy, but hey, Paisley went on the run before he checked in around the seven minute mark, felt like the momentum had already shifted by the end. What'd you think guys?
Starting point is 00:54:31 Should I think, I think, I think the momentum had as shifted and you might, you know, a lot of times you want to bring a guy in as a closer. I think they had a window of opportunity to get that thing up to 18, 19, 20 points. And without him being in the game, they struggle with everybody else being in that 10 hundred was the one that disappeared in this game. Yeah. You gave him those stats and he's supposed to be the other dude. He's in the commercial, which with SGA, he's in that phone commercial, but he disappeared in that game.
Starting point is 00:55:05 I think, Hey, I'm going to tell y'all something. I think it may have been a little too fast for Chick out there. Meaning, if he the biggest guy on the floor and he got the hedge on the screens or being a little soft catch, like they kind of got him in a hucklebuck every trip down the court. And it just wasn't a good look, man. He just seemed so frail under the gold when he did get chances to kind of score and all that I mean you got to keep that man on at the for you don't play him at the
Starting point is 00:55:34 fire man keep him mad at the for the thing about it though they said the start of the game that's why he brought at the Bay had Hollenberg that's why you bought him partnstein that's why he brought that's my hand Hollenberg. That's why you bought him art and Stein That's why you bought art and Stein is for that the energy guy to protect him And when you made him a starter what you did you took away one of your biggest stress basketball was She played 40 minutes tonight So if you to leave that think about it now, you're going to play a 45 minutes. Oh, I ain't mad at the 40 minutes. Hell, they've been off for a whole week, 10 days.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Yeah. That's the thing though. You say, say and start him at the start of the, at the start of the fourth. Well, I look, there, there is a lot of second guessing. I don't know because normally, you know, your best player, they normally get, they play out the third. And then, well, he probably came out, I don't know, he might've played the entire third.
Starting point is 00:56:34 I was trying to watch and try to watch a whole lot of other things. But he normally gets his break. He normally gets a four minute break, five minute break to start on the fourth. Yeah. Normally at that point in time, he's probably played somewhere between 30 and 33 minutes. Gentlemen, let me just say this.
Starting point is 00:56:54 This is the NBA championship. I don't give a damn what you do. You change that. If you want to win, you do what you need to do. And you're talking about changing. They changed hard in the style. Then they changed the best line up in the NBA. They think that what's wrong with giving them a couple of more minutes, especially
Starting point is 00:57:17 if you were struggling offensively during that particular time, you could see the leads start to dwindle. You could see, you could see the brown stuff start to come down some of them people's legs in that building. That's what you could see. That guy's smelly in there. I thought. Keith Jordan said that the Paisers win game two, OKC will get swept.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Adav Smith, cornbread, calm down buddy. It's one game. Saying Paisers are more physical than OKC is crazy. OKC didn't shoot or rebound well tonight. It's one game. Saying praises are more physical than OKC is crazy. OKC didn't shoot or rebound well tonight. OKC in five. Well, Adab, let me ask you this. Why didn't they shoot well?
Starting point is 00:57:53 Why didn't they rebound well? It wasn't like they were playing themselves. Who was the gentleman that said that? His name is Adab. He's one of our loyalists. Oh, I don't think I've ever seen him playing the NBA Oh, I'll recall, you know Maybe he know more than I do about maybe a dab a dab a do whatever it is. I don't know
Starting point is 00:58:18 I'm just telling you when you play the game at a high level and not the state, yes, it is the first game I haven't we been saying that the same thing about the Pacers and these last couple series. It's the first game It's a first game and they won every first game They keep advancing and that is not that's not a good sign for a young team There's been this one thing that you do Joe and this is why I love you Know what it is when you you you go in and you fight the bullet, the strongest man out there, you go punch him in the punch him in the nose. And everybody else started looking around going, damn, I mean, we something. Now what the paces did, they punched these dudes in the nose.
Starting point is 00:59:00 Yeah. The best team in the NBA. Now they got punched in the nose. How will they respond? Dally. Fans. New Jersey said is Hallie playoff run better than Reggie? I guess he told me Reggie who Reggie Miller. Oh, yeah. Reggie Miller. Reggie Miller. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:22 I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Confidence him. Yeah. Yeah. You think confidence him he said. They both have five shots to take the lead. They both have five shots now to either tie the game or take the lead in the ball game for the Pacers. Both have five. Halle has five. And Reggie has five. Considering Halle Burton's only been there for like three years. Yeah. But look at the game he played. We had the game that he had all them assists and no turnovers. Reggie Miller didn't ever do that. No. Reggie Miller's a great player. But Halle Burton is taking this thing to another level. I could think the only guy I could think who's played like that during that
Starting point is 01:00:07 particular time that was, that was Steph light to watch him do that. That was Steph Curry light to see him that, you know, that he's every game, not every, not every single game. Shannon, the same guy came beat me on. I saw a game. I saw this hard knocks thing that you were in and all this stuff going on and you can't beat me on the same damn play every time. I, damn, somebody else gonna beat me.
Starting point is 01:00:33 I don't get, Joe, I'm telling you right now, somebody else beat me. You ain't getting the same guy ain't getting the ball, shooting it again. That ain't going out. Hey man. Confidence DMV said Halliburton is the clutches player in playoff history. No, that's not get crazy now. It's not get crazy. He up there.
Starting point is 01:00:53 I ain't going to say he the clutches in playoff history, but he is definitely up there considering what he's done in all these series that they've played in. Like he has been insane down the stretch. I'm talking about like balls. But you know, well, you know, Robert Ory got a couple of big shots in playoff history that won a couple of championships, so. But what Halliburton is doing,
Starting point is 01:01:15 we haven't seen in at least two decades. Especially in what, and I mean, this playoff run, like I said, LeBron in 2017, when he hit the one, and the shot to beat Indiana, hit the three, he hit another shot off the glass to beat Toronto, where he had like what, eight 40 point games? That might have been 2018, take that back. But he had eight 40 point games in that playoff run.
Starting point is 01:01:43 And we forgot about Magic Johnson as much as I wanna throw up. And we forgot about Magic Johnson as much as I want to throw up. Now we forget about- What you talking about? You talking about the baby skyhooking hit on you? But you weren't there then. You weren't there then. That was in the 80s.
Starting point is 01:01:56 No, I wasn't there. I was traded, but still just that I got to give him credit. Although I hate him, I got to give him credit. You know, you got to give that game that he played against the 76. Oh, you took over the 42, 15 and seven. That 1980 game. I mean, you got, but also was around when he was when he was tragic, Johnson, when he drove the clock out. Oh, you know, he did. Yes. So I know the man personally. That's not like that, I know him personally.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Hey, but you know what? People forget that game that Magic had 30, 30, 42, 15 and seven, Jamal Wills had 35. He was cooking. Yeah, yeah. People don't, he was lighting their ass up. HR said 94. Go ahead, go ahead, pretty bread.
Starting point is 01:02:44 But you can't take away from Jordan though. How are you going to take away, put him in you. You didn't say I need to grab this clutch. Oh no, let's not do that. As much as I want to say that, let's not take away from Jordan, please. That will make you sick, Shannon. I'm sorry. And here's the thing I want to make sure I say before I go to sleep at night.
Starting point is 01:03:04 I want my damn alcohol. Y'all said y'all was sending me. I ain't got my whatever's gonna be coming to me. Your producer said. It's coming, damn. You want me to drive it up there by day or so? Ha ha ha. Well if you ever need me. Damn, I get it.
Starting point is 01:03:19 What you want me to do right now? Well what you want me to do, Shannon? We'll, you'll have the alcohol next week. It's being delivered. What you want me to do right now? Well, what you want me to do Shannon? You got me drinking vanilla extract right now that what you got me Delivery it says gonna be delivered tomorrow Hey, okay, okay, okay 94 95 Did you get your Yeah, look, I appreciate all cuz I got a little care package. I got some gear
Starting point is 01:03:59 I got some nightcap gifts. I hey look don't I know misery's Company, but don't try to throw me in this corn bridge. I ain't with y'all, Miz, man. Hey, but if you got a problem, I want you to address these guys, man. Let them know you got a problem. Don't drag me in this, okay? I didn't, look, Shannon, I didn't talk behind your back. I'm just telling you, answer right now.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Don't tell him, like, he got the gear. I want some damn gear now. I'm going from Alphar off on the gift card. Ocho, come on some damn gear now Oh Joe come on come on now. Oh Joe come on Listen whatever you need. I got we got you covered. Okay. All right. Got you covered producer All right. All right HR said 94 95 96. It don't matter paces and six Michael O'Nan said cornbread Maxwell Charlotte 49 alum great Sheldon Pope I so Joe were you in Atlanta during the BMF days? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah
Starting point is 01:04:52 I got give him I get on right out on out the way when I see them come in Ain't trying to play tough I ain't what I see cuz they used to be deep, bro They did they rolled 30 deep. If you went out and went to the club and you got you a section, shit, they gonna have the rest of the sections. So you might wanna go on and get a bottle of that. I gone get a bottle of that.
Starting point is 01:05:14 I ain't trusting nothing. Kurt says, sup, Ocho, uh, Iso, did Gerald Wallace ever pay Kobe that money for those free throws when you was in Brooklyn? I don't know if he did, but I do remember that. I do remember. Kobe bet it what, $500? Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:35 He said bet $500. Yeah. Did he close his eyes? No, he didn't close his eyes, but you know. He made both of them jokes? Yeah, he made them. That is it. I think, you know, Gerald took that as a little joke, but you know, Kobe ain't really, he didn't really play a lot when,
Starting point is 01:05:51 you know, when he was on the court, man. He was always serious, you know what I mean? He was always trying to cut your head off. So he didn't try to get in your head, bro. Like he was the ultimate competitor. Cameron Norwood Jr. said, I saw Joe was my favorite hogs player. Oh, my question is, where do you rank Coco golf among tennis players?
Starting point is 01:06:11 You must be mean current tennis players. Cause if you talk about the great, she ain't nowhere near the great yet. 21 Serena, Venus, Martina, Monica sellers, Fifi, Monica Sellers, damn! Chris Everett? Chris Everett, yeah. What the hell? She can't get in the top 10. Damn, no!
Starting point is 01:06:33 She can't get in the top 10 right now. I mean, hey, she's young. I mean, she got time, but like I said, if you talk about right now, okay, fine. But when you got Margaret Court and you got all these women that got 10 15 20 majors Stepan Grave won the Golden Slam. She won all four majors and she won the Olympic gold medal in 88 Serena go come on Venus
Starting point is 01:06:58 Monica Salas They were bread bread you and I we all have to remove all of them. Absolutely. I was, I was in Houston my last year and Martina was on, was practicing and I walked in and she saw me, she said, hey, how you doing? I was like, damn, alright lady, what's going on? How you feeling? So yeah, I said, Joe, I go back that far right then. Okay.
Starting point is 01:07:29 Uh, one, how one feels. Ocho, walk to that 60-inch TV one time for Miami. Yeah. Yeah, nah, that's a long ass walk. I'm good. He got his eye pads on the wall. Collin said, Roger's going to the Steelers, about to give Tomlin his first losing season.
Starting point is 01:07:49 He gonna get harder than Ocho did. He gonna get hit harder than Ocho did by Ray, and the season will be over. Nah. What you saying? He going to the Steelers? Yeah. Oh, is he?
Starting point is 01:08:03 He's supposed to, tomorrow, I think he's supposed to sign tomorrow. Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's a good thing. Dashaun Allen said, Hey, Uncle Ocho, Joe and Cornbread, I would like to give you all a shout out to my dad, Ken Smith, a happy 70th birthday.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Dashaun, happy birthday. Tell your dad happy birthday. Ken Smith, happy 70th birthday, 70 times around the sun. Dang. Congratulations. Hope you do something fun tomorrow. Enjoy Smith, happy 70th birthday. 70 times around the sun. Congratulations. Hope you do something fun tomorrow. Enjoy it, man. Well, hit me in November and give me
