Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an iHeart Podcast. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of 2B. We dive into the competitive world of streaming. Would others dismiss as niche we embrace as core? There are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly hoping that the presence of Doc Rivers will make Yanis Atatokounmpo more likely to stay in Milwaukee per Mark Stein. The Bucks are hoping that the presence of Doc as a coach can provide some sort of boost and Takunpo and Rivers are believed to have a strong working relationship. You know he's not staying. I mean what are we doing? So he had a terrible so Jason Kidd's gone, So he had a terrible, so Jason Kidd's gone. Mike Boon Holders gone, who won him. He was there when he had them two MVPs and they got a finals MVP.
Starting point is 00:01:29 They won a championship. Adrian Griffin was fired after going 40, what 41 and 13. Right. So I'm just trying to figure out and I'm just trying to figure out how, what am I missing? What, what, what, what, what is it? What is it that they see that we don't? Listen, the man doesn't want to be there. I'm not sure, I'm not sure why they're obviously gonna-
Starting point is 00:01:53 I don't know, Uncle, I don't know if he doesn't want to be there or if he doesn't believe that they can win there. He can win there. You're not going to be able to. There's nothing you're gonna be able to do. Bringing in Doc Rivers isn't gonna get you a chance at contention for sure. It's not going to be able to get you any more players because you can't sign anything and
Starting point is 00:02:09 you want to stay out of that second apron. Bingo. So that means that goes without saying. I don't know why- You traded Holiday and gave up draft picks to get Dame. And Dame is out. Dame is out. I think maybe his decision making would be a little different
Starting point is 00:02:25 if Dame wasn't hurt. No. You don't think so? No, cause they didn't get to the Eastern Conference Finals in the year that Dame was there. And there's some times that they play really good, but it's kind of hard because, you know, and you think Giannis needs the ball to clear
Starting point is 00:02:41 and Dame likes to have the ball to do what he does. Sometimes it looks good, but more times than not, it's just like, yeah. Yeah. He doesn't want to be there. I hate to regurgitate it and say it again. I told you where Yannis is going. I told you how that's going to go. Well, I'm not saying I don't just I disagree with you but what I am saying what are you gonna give up I just don't see a scenario where you keep Bam and Tyler Hero and still be able to get Giannis. Funny thing about it is we never know the scenario that's up to the team that's up to the all the teams let me say it like this up to all the teams involved you know he's
Starting point is 00:03:22 getting hints and answers where he'd like to be where he'd like to play Subliminally by answering questions on Twitter. I mean the proof is in the pudding is right there I mean everyone's gonna have these expert opinions on where he should go. Yeah That's how you put straight scenarios together. Okay, if you're the players you know off limits, you know, you're not getting LeBron You're not getting Luca. So now you start playing with pieces. Okay. If AR available, is RUI available, you start playing with pieces who could possibly leave and who could possibly come. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So with that being said, that's the only way you can put a trace of their, you gotta do hypotheticals. You know, I'm just trying to see, I'm looking at the pieces that what Miami have, they only got two pieces that what Miami have, they only got two pieces that I would want. Right. Why would Yarny's wanna go to Miami and bam, and Tyler Hero isn't there.
Starting point is 00:04:12 It's the same thing that happened with Carmelo when he went to the Knicks. Nobody there. You got it him. Yeah, when you think about it, where the hell's, where the hell else, where the hell else would Yarny's go right now where they're going to have to give up something for him to even get him and still not be right back in the same type of situation you were in in Milwaukee?
Starting point is 00:04:32 I think the thing is Ocho, you're going to have to get multiple teams involved, but you're going to have to satisfy Milwaukee. Milwaukee, Yanis, think about it Ocho, you lost Kareem. How long before you got something to replace Kareem? Your second best player in franchise history. Y'all this I think you're the second best because Kareem won three titles with the two. You got to, I will, we don't need to agree. I mean you need to look up Kareem's stats because everybody that think Kareem was a bum, y'all need to look up Kareem
Starting point is 00:05:03 before he got old cuz like in the 80s he still won finals MVP at like 37 38 years of age But you got to go back and look at him when he from his from his rookie year until he was about 30 Go check him out. Go check out his stats and let me know what you think with that being said Lou Johnis a superstar. See, that's what that for the longest time, that's what really hurt. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:28 See, cause he Kevin Durant was a free agent and he left. Imagine what you could have got for Kevin Durant if you did a sign in trade. So now you and if absolute prime, well, we have before his prime, but now, so now you get a guy, I mean, you won't get draft pick out the galore and a couple of solid players. That's what you would have gotten, but he left. You got nothing. Walks out the door.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Same thing. Go to state. He walked out the door. So when I think about teams, the capital. Mm-hmm. Brooklyn got draft capital. Houston got draft capital. And players, because you got Shungun. I'm not getting rid of Armand Thompson. Armand Thompson is not going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Right. So you got capital. You got Jabari Smith Jr. You got Eason. So they got capital, and they gotari Smith Jr., you got Eason. So they got capital and they got draft picks. See, that's the thing, Ocho. There's only a handful of teams that have the draft capital and maybe some of the players to satisfy.
Starting point is 00:06:36 What about OKC? Yannis, OKC? I don't like that matchup with Shea. Do they have the draft capital? Absolutely. Yes. They have the draft capital? Absolutely. Yes. They have the draft capital to go get a Kevin Durant. I mean, if somebody else is available, they got the draft capital.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Yes, they're absolutely. Look at the players they got. For me, I don't think they're breaking up their nucleus. Shea, Jalen Williams, and Hongren. I'm not breaking that up. There's a reason why Presti deliberately chose Chet Hongren because he had an opportunity at Jabari Smith Jr. And because Paulo Banquero was gone, he was off the board.
Starting point is 00:07:12 So you didn't have no shot at him. Nice. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Young, young fella, young fella like that. Um, yes, absolutely. The Thunder have the pieces. They got seven, eight first round picks, seven, eight second round picks. Yes, absolutely the thunder have the pieces they got
Starting point is 00:07:32 Seven eight first round picks seven eight second round picks. They got two pick swaps still coming from the Clippers Oh, they got the capital Houston got the capital Brooklyn has the capital Because I just don't want draft picks I want some I want players that can come in and play and contribute and can help me Right now with you right now. Yeah So it's gonna be very interesting To see what Yanis maybe they try to convince him one more year, but Yanis like one more year. That's a year older I'm not closer. I Mean when you look at it Yanis by himself, they're not beaten. They're not beating the Knicks. They're not beating the Cavs.
Starting point is 00:08:08 They're not beating Indiana. Now they might get Boston run without Tatum next year, but they're still okay at best case scenario, they're the fourth best team. I'm not so sure that the fourth best team, if bankero and Franz Wagner stay healthy. Right. Would that you, would they get subs back with that with black and, and, and, and, and, uh, Cole Anthony with some of the pieces that they have. Are we sure? Are we sure?
Starting point is 00:08:33 Milwaukee is no better than a fourth or fifth seed. I ain't coming back one more year for it to be a fourth or fifth seed. Well, that's, that's, that's what it would probably be. Y'all can only do so much. Yes. No, you can only do so much money by itself. What, but how do you improve this team?
Starting point is 00:08:57 People like, Oh Joe, ain't nobody say, yeah, man, I'm going to take this max deal from Milwaukee. I got to, I get an opportunity to get a max deal from LA. I get a max deal from Chicago. I get a max deal. I. I get a max deal. I'm going to Milwaukee. Right. You're not. You're not.
Starting point is 00:09:11 There's nothing to do. It's cold. It's closed at 11. Okay, 10. Where am I gonna go get some need after the game? It can't be that bad. kids ain't playing outside after September. Can't be that bad. Oh, Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Yeah. I'm just saying it can't be as far as far as what I mean, I've never been there. I've never experienced what it's like to live there in Wisconsin. So what you think the weather is like from Wisconsin, October, November, December, January, February, March, April. So what do you think the weather's like? You've played in Green Bay. So what you think the weather like in October, November, December, January, February, March. But guess what? Think about some of the teams you just named too. Hell, all them same months in Chicago, it's cold.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Them same months you just named me. In Chicago, issues open. I can still go get a meal at 10 o'clock at night. Ha ha ha ha. We'll see. We shall see. Austin Reeves' agent issues a warrant in the mid-trade rumors. Next year is going to be a show.
Starting point is 00:10:27 People really have no idea what's to come. Keep putting him in trade rumors for a second string center. Whoa. Who they taking shots at, huh? Whoever keep leaking his name talking about part of the trade, they're trading for a center. But he said second string. who's the second string center? They taking a shot at somebody. Anybody that's not Yokel, Joel and Bede. Those are really only centers.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Yeah, hey, Austin Reed is nice too. You can go anywhere right now. And getting work, getting buckets. Yeah, but bro, you go out that that bro, you go out that your contract. The Lakers can only play you so much. You gotta go somewhere and get a big payday anyway. You ain't trying to stay with the Lakers when you can get a $200 million deal and they can't give you that. I know you are.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Austin is very grateful, very thankful. Yeah. Lakers believed in him, gave him a try out. He went to the G league. He played really well. He, uh, he and LeBron, LeBron saw something in him early, took him under his wings and he's flourished. Let's not kid ourselves.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Let's not kid ourselves. Obviously, Reeves finna get a bigger payday. Finna get a couple hundred million dollars. Yo, O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O- end of it. No, he's not. He knows, he knows his value. That's why I thought that's why they just said what he said. Okay. Cause he's not about his contract. Go get your money young fellow.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Cause he, the thing is like what they try to do, Ocho, if you sign with your team, they can give you that fifth year. You leave, they can only give you four. Yeah. So there's like okay we can add an extra year that's an extra 50. You get nicked hey you're not playing your best you still a opt in you got 50 coming. Right. He knows that he knows that based on what he's done over the last three years as you've seen his point assist rebound total go up, he's been a valuable option. I mean, we saw him, would he get, uh, with no Luke in the lineup here in
Starting point is 00:12:32 LeBron with no Luke and LeBron to line up what he did against Indiana. We've seen him go off for 40. We've seen him go get 30. Yeah. He's improved every single year. He's a hell of a player, but those three guys are not going to win anything. Now I'm not saying that you've got a packaging, but they need a big. And, and he's the only, he's the only valuable piece that they have
Starting point is 00:12:54 that they're willing to part with. They not trade Luca. You can't trade LeBron because LeBron is one of the two players that have a no trade. He and Bradley Beal, everybody else, nobody else in the NBA other than LeBron James and Bradley Beal has a no trade. He and Bradley Beal, everybody else, nobody else in the NBA, other than LeBron James and Bradley Beal has a no trade. Now, when you say you also say they need a big. Now, Yonis is off the table going to LA too, cause you don't have enough. I don't think, I mean, he mentioned LA, but I think he's talking about
Starting point is 00:13:19 more Clippers than Lakers. Oh, Hey, Hardin. Kawhi. Inyanis. What you gonna give up? Cause your pigs, your pigs belong to OKC. OKC, that's right, that's right. Ask for them back.
Starting point is 00:13:41 And then guess what? We got pig swaps. So guess what? If some pig swaps. So guess what? If for some God unforeseen reason, you're higher than we are, hey, let's swap that thing. You know what I'm saying, Ocho? Hey, you get a nice burger,
Starting point is 00:13:56 you get a good double smashed burger with cheese, and I got a bologna sandwich. You know what? I want to swap lunches today. It's my time to swap. Okay, got the baloney sandwich I got a double cheese smash burger see but she y'all and y'all is little like y'all is gonna be uh it's hard oh Joe it's hard oh here's the thing. I thought about where it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Hey, you, you putting yourself right back in the same goddamn predicament outside of it being a better goddamn city and being able to get something to eat after 11 o'clock. That's it. But see, that's the thing though. That's the thing. Oh Joe is that. Allster Reeves understands his value.
Starting point is 00:14:43 He knows he's going to be a commodity cause he's proven he's a starter in this league. He's not a role player. I mean, he's a role player, but he's a starting role player. You know what I'm saying? He can handle the ball. He can create his own shot. He can facilitate an offense. He can run an offense.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Yeah, he's a liability on defense. But guy ain't nobody playing no defense anymore. Just don't let him beat you on the first dribble. Can you, can you, can you guard him for two dribbles? Then hell's gonna come. So with that being said, there's only a handful of teams that have the capital to go, to go get a Yanis. Because you got to think about it, Ocho. Look at what I'm giving up.
Starting point is 00:15:20 I'm giving up a Yanis. I'm giving up a KD. I need something valuable in return. Now, Katie's a little different. Katie's a little older, so he's not going to command. Phoenix is not going to get maybe what they think they're going to get. Yeah. Because there's a difference. I think Yanis is 30, Katie is about to be 37 and injury history.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Remember he got nicked again at the end of the year, he missed the last couple games. When he got there, he messed up his knee. So he has a history of being injured. So you're not gonna get what you because of age and his injury history. He's still a phenomenal player. Very.

In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything
Starting point is 00:17:15 but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content,
Starting point is 00:17:40 the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Wow.
Starting point is 00:18:20 So I'm gonna make, check this out, Ocho. Yeah. I can't even pronounce this guy's name. He said Zion Williams is entering year seven with zero with zero playoff minutes logged. I just got sick. I mean, the Zion Williams and going to the Pelicans, understanding his injury history the
Starting point is 00:18:45 fact that he hasn't been able to play games even make the playoffs didn't have a team surrounding him or have the help to make the playoffs yeah yeah they made the playoffs but he was hurt he couldn't play made the playoffs, but he was hurt. He couldn't play. Yeah. They made the playoffs. I mean, it's anybody you've had. He had BI, he had Valen Chunas.
Starting point is 00:19:13 He had a CJ McCullough. Is it, that was the second year, right? I don't know what year it was, but I'm saying he's they, they've made the playoffs Zion just hadn't been able to play. I think he needed a new change of scenery, y'all. He needed a change of scenery. He needed a change of eatery. Change of who?
Starting point is 00:19:36 Eatery. What's important to him? Everybody wants something more than Zion wanted for himself. Think about what he denied himself. Probably going out, partying, doing all those other things that kids his age did. Because he wanted to be a basketball player and he wanted to go to college. And in college, he wanted to go to the NBA. So think about what you denied yourself to get to where you got to.
Starting point is 00:20:02 And not all of a sudden. Now granted, when you young, Ocho, you rub it down the court, Ocho, wait, just fall off you. Yeah. I mean, I can lose, I can lose. Easy. Hell, I lose. I swear that seven, eight pounds at a practice was lost 13 pounds in a practice.
Starting point is 00:20:20 You young, you can do that as you start to get older. You see a lot of, you see a lot of young fat people you'll see a lot of old fat people, okay Because the heart's only so big It's only meant to pump the size that you supposed to be you start getting full you start getting three and four hundred pounds when you Meant to be 200 or 250 Come on the body. Yeah. That's why you can't put a Volkswagen engine in an 18 wheeler.
Starting point is 00:20:48 It's not meant to pull that. You'll burn it out. What's important is Ion. How bad does Ion want to be in? Do it. See, getting in is easy. That's the easy part. Right. It gets hard to get out and
Starting point is 00:21:08 get back in. Zion is a phenomenal talent. You're never gonna hear me say anything about the guy's talent. He can do it. He can do it. Kendrick Perkins doesn't think Anthony Edwards can be the face of the NBA. Perk said, you got to check the boxes when you're the face of the league. You know, we gotta have a signature shoe. You gotta do big commercials. You gotta have highlights. You gotta have a game, but you know what else you gotta have?
Starting point is 00:21:33 Got to be a role model and things outside the lines. Now, if you go down the list and check all the faces, you know, you look at bird magic. I could have swore I don't got it said that last year and everybody looked at me on choke. They killed me Where would they say thank you? I said this very same thing on ESPN and people I say go back and look at the air. I said how many of faces of the NBA weren't married? But anyway, let me finish on you go look at Larry Bird Maggie Johnson Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant Shaq LeBron stealth
Starting point is 00:22:04 What did they all have in common? They were family and they were all married with kids. But see, when I said it, because I'm a football player, what do you know? I just followed the game. I've been following the game a lot longer, playing a lot closer attention. And when you go back and study the guys that's been the face of the league, what do they have in common? Why is it so easy for quarterbacks?
Starting point is 00:22:26 Look at the quarterbacks, Ocho. Go back and study the quarterbacks that have been face of the league. What do they all have in common? I told you, I told you. Go back and study the NBA player, Joe. What do they have in common? But see, when I said it, and chat, y'all know I said it.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Everybody, Steve and they looked at me. Molly, one of the undrew, just Everybody, Steven, they looked at me. Molly wanted to undrew just like, Oh my God. Like, bro, I'm saying, all I'm saying is just go study it. Go look at the guys that's been in the face of the league. So I'm saying what you think it is? Hey, Joe, honestly, you know what I think it is? I think it's unwritten rule. Joe, you married, right, Joe?
Starting point is 00:23:05 No, I ain't married. But still you, you. He married. He just ain't got the paperwork, but he married. But go ahead. Oh, okay. Hello. Well, if you look, if you look at that, things are going to your life, Joe, you
Starting point is 00:23:17 understand God is blessing you. Huh? You know, for some reason, things are always going right. When you have stability, when you have a foundation to build on, right? Hey, when you talk about the football you have stability, when you have a foundation to build on, right? Hey When you talk about the football players, um, it ain't no goddamn coincidence All the ones that are married or engaged, you notice how life is going. I'm not talking about off the field How about off the field?
Starting point is 00:23:38 Everybody just named as married what kendrick perkins said and you say Hey, let me put my goddamn ring on. Shoot. But anyway. Ocho, before you go any farther. Yeah. What quarterback just got engaged last year about to get married? He up in Buffalo. Oh, Josh, Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:23:55 And what they doing? Patrick Mahomes. What did Patrick Mahomes do, Ocho? Man, it's not a coincidence, huh? Well, not only are they good at, not only are they good at their craft, but... What did Tom Brady go do, Ocho? What did Peyton Manning do, Ocho?
Starting point is 00:24:13 Yeah, hey. Elway, Marino, go back and study it. The only guy, the only guy that you can definitively say, and I don't know if he was ever to face a league with Joe Namath at the quarterback position. Hey, but Joe was a player Joe was a player Roger star back Roger star back to take I just a I'm just like but I just like what I got one woman Yeah, hey listen, so Okay, I can see eliminating the distractions, you know things that so but what is it? Yeah, what is it?
Starting point is 00:24:42 Joe you're not gonna be able to get that because the people look at what the tiger, look at what the tiger do. He went and got married, didn't he? Yeah, yeah. Look at the tiger, he went and got married. And when everything came, because he sold family, he sold security.
Starting point is 00:24:59 That's what he sold. And when it didn't happen, everybody was up in arms. It wasn't that each, but it's what he sold. And when it didn't happen, everybody was up in arms. It wasn't that each, but it's what you sold us. You sold us, it's called stability. That's what you're selling, stability. That's what I'm. A guy that got a wife and got kids. Now see, you might say, well, hey, I know I saw him X, Y,
Starting point is 00:25:22 and Z, but the general public might not ever see him. They see every time he does an interview, he got his dog, Steph Curry. When Steph Curry started going to the playoffs and they go into NBA, tell them who was sitting on that desk where they, who was right there beside him when he was doing them interview, Lil' Ol' Riley. Y'all remember that?
Starting point is 00:25:41 And his wife, Aisha, in the tunnel, gave them a kiss, you're talking about that. Yeah, and his wife or I issue in the tunnel get him a kiss you see that Yeah, hey, hey, okay. Oh Joe. Oh, it ain't too late for But I'm saying he's a defender he's at the tender age of 23. Oh Joe. Oh, okay He had to tend a He's still there. I forgetting, and only 23. Yeah. And look, he done took his lumps and bruises
Starting point is 00:26:10 throughout the NBA seasons, the post-seasons. He's been through some wars. Yes. His time will come, they played great basketball, but yeah, they took out the draw. Who they talking about? Hold on, Ocho, who they talking about being the face? Tell the people at home, Ocho, SGA.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Tell them what his status is. Is he checking the single box or he checking the married box? Tell them which one he checking, Ocho. He married? Absolutely he is. Yes. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I ain't know that. I ain't know that. What about Nicole Leokich? Is he married? He married too? What about Luca? Is he married? He married too? What about Luca? Is he bad? Everybody, hey, I'm going,
Starting point is 00:26:50 boy, listen, I'm going to give me some stability, huh? Look at LeBron. Ojo, you ready to jump that broom, right? Why you playing, boy? Jerry, you're every boy. Jerry, matter of fact, I'm gonna get on my birthday. When your birthday? Jerry 9th, 1968. Man that's same the same birthday my
Starting point is 00:27:08 son I saw 18 just graduated high school this year anyway that's my dog my birthday dog I say was having man I tell him but I got to watch out oh boy y'all sneaky yeah you would you a capital yeah a capricorn I hope I'd listen signs don't to watch out old boy y'all sneaky boy. Yeah. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, Agni. You with you Capricorn? Yeah, Capricorn, I hope, listen, signs don't really identify everybody that's born in that month, that's really not how it works. I'm not saying, I'm not saying all of it pertains to you. They ain't got no similarities.
Starting point is 00:27:40 You think so? Yeah, there we go, there we go, there we go. No, no, because listen, I'm not don't, I don't, I'm not into signs. I don't know much about signs. You know, I hear from time to time when you meet people, but I get along with everybody. Everybody loves me regardless of what sign they are. So, Listen,
Starting point is 00:27:56 I don't understand. I'm, I'm nothing like what they say Capricorns are like. I'm a good dude and I'm just looking for sensibility. I'm not saying, I'm not saying, Really saying you a bad dude and I'm just looking for some ability. I'm not saying you're a bad dude. Okay. Okay. I think you're a good dude. Yeah, I'm a good dude. Yeah, buddy, we gotta watch you.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Like a hawk. I know a guy said this and I listed all the guys. A lot of the guys that Perk named, I listed those guys. That's what happens when you let a football guy talk about basketball. I listed all the guys, a lot of the guys that Perk named, I listed those guys. That's what happens when you let a football guy talk about basketball. Now there's a basketball guy. See, they aren't, look, obviously it touched the nerve. I'll just go back and look at the faces of the NBA
Starting point is 00:28:35 and tell me what they were. Take football aside. Tell me what the guys, tell me the guy that's been the face of the NBA that did not show display stability. Tell me the guy. Hey, I'm with you when you're right. Hey, do you think Anthony Edwin could be the first one to change that?
Starting point is 00:28:58 Boy, hey, there's family value, there's morals, and some people just don't, I mean, it's different. It's different, yeah, yeah, it's, but they say the problem is a lot of people, they said, hey, they're trying to destroy the nuclear, the family nuclear. Listen, everyone operates at a different frequency, y'all. Everybody operates- Okay, you can operate that. You just can't be the president of the EPA. You can operate that, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Okay, yeah, you right, you right. And I think that's a large part of why he doesn't, because he doesn't, I don't want to do that. I still want to go to my little dive hole in the wall. Y'all don't see me. I got my shades on. I'm tucked in the cut. I don't want all that, I don't want all of that that comes along with being, because now you got people,
Starting point is 00:29:43 now you got people really out there trying to in your in your business trying to Lift the covers up so they can show the world what you really do it and then let the cover fall back down on it And him only I mean and only being 23 you have to move in it 23 You got to move completely different. Yes Once you cross that line over in the marriage in the having stability and you have to at that age with that kind of money you going to. No. And most of the guys we talk about. He live in Atlanta too huh? Yeah. And the thing is Ocho a lot of these guys um LeBron knew Savannah since they were 14. Steph knew Aisha when they were teenagers.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Magic knew Cookie. Steph met, excuse me, not Steph. Kobe met Vanessa his first or second year in the NBA. He's 19, 18, 19. She's a senior in high school or junior in high school. Ant-Man is 23. You got to realize Kobe's 19, Ant-Man is 23. He meets somebody's like, okay, this is it for me.
Starting point is 00:30:52 R-R-A. I met mine, got it. Yeah. How long Magic was dating Cookie in college. Yeah. So it's a different time now. If it's getting different time now. If it is hard, it's getting harder and harder. The day date and these are because you don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Yeah. But I don't mean looking at it from a distance and studying the NBA like I have and looking at faces of the NBA. Go back and look at the guys that was the face of the NBA and look at their home situation. Mm. Yeah. Now, hey, Joe, I want you to watch, right? I want you to pay attention to people in the chat. I want you to pay attention to the difference in
Starting point is 00:31:39 our cups, all our cups are running over right now. Everything is going good. Everything's going smooth. Now, I want you to see how life changes for your boy in 2026 when he crossed that broom. You hear me? Yeah, yeah. I want you to see how life changes for me.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Now what I want you to do is I want you to pay attention. Now remember I told you this. You told him. It's May 27th. Yes. 2025. When I jumped that broom after my birthday, I want you to see how life changes
Starting point is 00:32:07 Exponentially and I want you to follow suit right behind me To dumb yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're gonna you're gonna do you gonna jump the broom matter of fact we're gonna jump playing time Oh Joe it's time for him to put it up. He got the plan Yeah, cuz listen we need to listen we need to be we, we gonna be on the right track. Okay. We gonna be on the right track. So I'm gonna go ahead and take the lead. I'm gonna start it off.
Starting point is 00:32:31 It's gonna be like dodgeball. It's gonna be like dodgeball. Yeah, shit. You ain't got time to play white shit. Charles Martin also chimed in on the face of the league. Hey ESPN, I love you guys. Don't try to make Ant-Man, he said Anthony Edwards. But don't try to make Anthony Edwards the face of the NBA. There's a face of the NBA.
Starting point is 00:32:52 It's Shea Gilder's, it's Nicole Jokic, it's Yonis. You can't give it to people. They have to take it. And SGA is taking it right now. Yeah, he is. But that mean, hey look, once somebody tells you so, I mean, Ant-Man told me that that's not what I want. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Right. And it's like the more, the more he says he doesn't want it, the more people try to bestow it upon it. But you know why? You know why? It has nothing to do with, you know, forget, I'm not, obviously people can say, oh, look how he's playing now. Listen, he has this as good as he
Starting point is 00:33:26 has personality, he has charisma, he has charm, he has everything that you have. Yes, as good as XGA is, he still doesn't have that it factor that Ann has. He just doesn't. As great as he is, Joe, he's box office. I just think it's hard for a foreign born player to be the face of the office. I just think it's hard for a foreign born player to be the face of the NBA. I just do. Yeah. You think, you know, where you think
Starting point is 00:33:52 that has anything to do with it? You think, no, a little bit? Smidge? It'd be the same thing. You think, do you think an American born player can be the face of football, European football? Soccer? Yeah. Oh, soccer? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Oh, that's impossible. You would have to be a... See? That would be damn near impossible. That mean no disrespect. Impossible. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators
Starting point is 00:35:24 shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from
Starting point is 00:35:58 our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeart radio app, you get your podcasts. Let's get my man a little time. Yeah, you still at a tender age. Yeah, 23 is a lot. But it ain't no.
Starting point is 00:36:43 It takes a special type of something because you got to go back and you go back and think, like Magic was 20 when he came into the league. He won the championship, burned all those other guys. But normally, you know, guys were 22, 23 when they was getting to the league, Ocho. Yeah. And so now guys are one and done.
Starting point is 00:37:06 You asking an 18, ain't no 18 year old about to get married? 19 year old? No. Hey look, because you live in the American dream, this is something that you've dreamed about since you was a kid. Now to get to this point, especially at a young, young age, 19, 20, man, you ain't trying to be tied down. You're trying to go have fun. You got, you, man, you ain't trying to be tied down. You trying to go have...
Starting point is 00:37:26 You got, you got to be mentally, you have to be mentally prepared. You got to be mentally ready for that. Cause it's, it's... Or, or I think you got to come from, like, you got to have parents that were married. You got to have been, been... I think, I think if you was raised in a household and your parents have been married, I think it's a lot easier. Because look, all my partners I grew up with, man, listen, they all married. But all their parents, they've all been married since we were kids.
Starting point is 00:37:57 I'm the only one who grew up in a single parent household. You know what I'm saying? But my closest home boys, my closest home boys, they married. It also come down to actually finding someone actually you can marry though. There's a difference. We ain't talking about just aesthetics. I'm talking about someone of substance
Starting point is 00:38:17 outside of just looks. So actually finding someone to marry is, that's a difficult, that's also difficult. I tell, I come's a difficult, that's also difficult. I, hell, I come from, I come from where I'm a one parent, you know, household. I didn't do things the traditional way, but I do actually value marriage and want that. I want that stability, especially at my, at old age after being out in the streets. Hey, yo, you know, Joe, after being out in the streets for so long and understanding what's out there. There's nothing wrong with that. But
Starting point is 00:38:46 It's an investment When you get no return, I don't care how much you spend and I'm gonna spend it on it looks good It's aesthetically pleasing is good to to be able to be someone sponsored for a while But it gets you nothing in return scores has started this week about how this thunder team could be even scarier. No matter what's happening, this playoffs thunder will be adding Serbian star Nikola Jopic to his rotation next season. Jopic was the number 12 pick in the 2024 NBA draft. It picked the OKC guy from Houston in the 2019 Westbrook trade.
Starting point is 00:39:22 But Jopic had a torn ACL and would miss his entire rookie season. And that scared away most teams, except. Okay. See before the injury, the six inch Yopich was viewed as a top five prospect as a playmaking point guard. CBS sports mock draft had him as high as number two at one point next season. He'll finally make his NDA debut. Man.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Okay. See, he got a lot over there. Oh, okay. Ultra. Oh no. How are they going to keep all them guys together? Because you know, Hey, they got to know because you know, what's your car can sign for for a two 94 or he can wait five for three 80.
Starting point is 00:40:03 Jalen Williams is going to want to get paid. Chess going to want to get paid. Uh, I mean, I like can wait five for three 80. Jalen Williams is going to want to get paid. Chess going to want to get paid. Uh, I mean, I, I like this guy because now you got somebody that's going to uh, handle the ball when, um, when Shade's on the bench, if he's what, what they say to us, we, you know, see, but, uh, it's going to be, it gets hard, man. It gets hard. Oh Joe, because when you start winning, people come and start rating your henhouse, they want to, They won't they want your chicken
Starting point is 00:40:25 That's been laying these golden eggs. I think that's what happens if you see it in football all the time. You see what happens Eventually Philly's not gonna be able to keep all these guys those great defensive players Now you play jailer you play Jalen Carter. What you gonna do with Jordan Davis? What you gonna do? What you gonna do Cooper DeJong? What you gonna do it brother Mitchell? What you gonna do? What you gonna do with Cooper DeJong? What you gonna do with Brother Mitchell? What you gonna do with them, Ocho? Yeah. Okay, Ocho, when you winning, everybody eats. So you have to go into the luxury tax.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Gotta take care of these guys. Just like in Boston with the one this year, man, they wouldn't have cared about paying those dudes. They gonna break that thing up, Ocho. Yeah, now they are. Yeah, now they are have cared about paying those do they go they'll break that thing up or Joe Yeah, now they are. Yeah now they are But I think even if they have one I think they break it up because you got to you You got think about it. You got two guys making over 300 million You got think about it. You got Derek White and you got holiday
Starting point is 00:41:19 Making well over a hundred million You got Al Horford probably making 35 to 38 million. And you got Brazingas. Right. I think, I think if they, if they had a chance to win it this year, I think they willing to go into the luxury tax and pay that. It's just like, okay, see if they win it this year, you, they're going to have to go into the luxury tax and they're going to pay them.
Starting point is 00:41:42 But I hear the thing. See, I, because I'm looking at the Lakers. The Lakers had the same situation. They wanted in 2020 and broke the whole thing up. You don't know what that was about. I don't know. I don't know what that was about. They had a great team.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I know it was in the bubble, but they had a great team. I'll bring it back just to see if you can repeat. So it makes you wonder, like, was there something more to it than just basketball? You know what I mean? We'll never know. Carmelo Anthony and PG Paul George aren't convinced
Starting point is 00:42:19 that Giannis will ask to be traded from Milwaukee despite the rumors surrounding his uncertain future with the organization. Yannis is that old cut era, that old era cut. I think he wants to stay in Milwaukee his whole career. That's what PG said. He ain't going nowhere. Yannis built Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:42:38 No, absolutely not. That doesn't matter. That matters not. That matters not. I understand PG and Carmelo, very respectful good for good friends of mine But yeah, honestly, honestly, you know, he's not going back. He was gonna be the same thing every year The man wants to win the man wants to contend for another title again No, he doesn't want to he don't want to lift the heavy load every single night every single night
Starting point is 00:43:03 He's far the way now than what he was when he won his title. Yeah. Absolutely. That's why I don't see him going back. Not the problem that you're up against is that, guess what? You see all these guys.
Starting point is 00:43:16 What if Shay gets one this year? Tatum already got one. I mean, you're not worried about Steph and LeBron and KD because they've already done their, you know, next couple of years, they're going to be on their way out. But what about, okay, see, he ain't going nowhere, at least for the next year or two. How do we talk about this last night, Joe, let's just say they break it back.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Dane's not playing next year. So even if he goes back to Milwaukee, they're not better than the Knicks. They're not better than the Cavaliers. They're not better than the Pacers. And I'm not so sure that they can beat Boston with the roster that they have with just Giannis. So now at best case scenario, oh, if Orlando, if Banquero and Franz Wagner stay healthy,
Starting point is 00:44:06 they're not better than them. So in best case scenario, you feel the sixth. Hey, look, I think Giannis will always say the right things. Because he don't want that blowback. Everybody gonna say right-back Joe since they saw what happened to LeBron. Everybody gonna say, oh, I want to be here. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Because at least LeBron played his contract out. See, LeBron is one of those guys, he never asked to be traded. We play his contract out and people hold him to the same standard of guys that be asking for trades. LeBron is never asked to be traded. When the contract out, his time contract was up in Cleveland. He went to Miami. Contract was up in Miami.
Starting point is 00:44:49 He went back to Cleveland. Contract was up in Cleveland. He went to L.A. So you got to think about it. LeBron is damn near as much time in L.A. had he did his last stint in Cleveland and when he went to Miami. Right. Yeah. Hey, look, I can see, I don't know how he gonna do it,
Starting point is 00:45:09 but I just see Yon is moving this summer. Okay, I'll tell you what, I can't see him coming, going back to Milwaukee, trying to do all that heavy lifting by itself, it's gonna be tough, it's gonna be challenging cause they can't bring nobody in. Nope. Outside of what they already have, they can't bring nobody in. And the second best player is injured.
Starting point is 00:45:29 But can you imagine if Giannis gets traded to a team to, I'll say the Mavericks or the Rockets or you know, whatever the kids may be to work. Go to the Stakel, make a run for it. Oh man, Can you imagine? Like he gonna have to still do some heavy lifting, but it ain't going to be nothing like this. It ain't gonna happen to a whole lot of heavy lifting if he got stealth on his team. I asked you that last night.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Uh, you know, where, where is the scenarios where he could go? Where the situation would be different than what it is with Milwaukee right now. Well, you got to break. First of all, Steph is healthy. Um, Dame is not, um, they're, they play different types of game. Uh, Steph is perpetual motion. He's gonna get a lot of wide open looks because you got it. You, you gotta build a wall to keep looking, let Yonis out the paint.
Starting point is 00:46:20 And then when Yonis kicked, because you saw the average six assists, he's getting better as a passer. And then when you're on his kick, because you saw the average six assists, he's getting better as a passer. So, um, the thing is, he's just going to have to get a lot of teams because. Teams going straight up, they're only a handful of teams that could. Okay. See Brooklyn, Houston Rockets. They're really the only team to have the draft capital.
Starting point is 00:46:41 She used to have the draft capital and the players. Cause they read it. team to have the draft capital. Houston have the draft capital and the players. Kofi Redding, Yuka Packer, Shungun. Uh, huh. Oh, the Spurs. You got a Spurs definitely have the capital. So there's only a handful of team to have draft capital and players, huh? It's not fair. You can't, you can't put Wimby and got them Yonis together, man. Hey, hey, life ain't fair.
Starting point is 00:47:05 Come on, man. Come on, man. Yeah. Life ain't fair. You put them on a team, boy, listen. You're going to be number one. Ethan is for sure. And what?
Starting point is 00:47:15 Yeah. And what pick the Spurs got? What pick Spurs they got? The two? Spurs got the number two pick. So you got a big damn draft. They got plenty of other draft picks. I don't know if they're gonna be willing to part with
Starting point is 00:47:30 obviously Stefan Castle and Wimby I would think would be, but anything else. I mean, you got Fox. You probably gonna have to get off Castle. Okay, okay. If you got Fox, yeah. Yeah, you got Fox. I forgot Fox was there. if you got Fox, yeah. Yeah, you got Fox. I forgot Fox was there.
Starting point is 00:47:46 So you got Fox, you got Wimby, Yarnis. Yeah. You sure, Ocho? Man. Wait, Darien Fox? Yeah, Darien Fox was there. Oh, hell nah, that's not fair. Nah, that ain't fair.
Starting point is 00:48:00 That ain't fair. Because Milwaukee gonna want some star power. Yes. And they young boy Castle, he's proving, you know, he just won rookie of the year. So they gonna, they gonna want some, they gonna want somebody. I want a proven player. I want a couple of proven player. I might take Vassel and then Kelton Johnson too.
Starting point is 00:48:19 And I want that number two pick and a couple of other picks and some pick swaps. For Yannis' work, yeah, cause let me tell you, I think if he plays with some, some other great talent, he will be more of a willing passer versus, you know, I know he'll still be downhill, but I think he'll be more reluctant, you know, I think he'll pass a lot more versus just driving in there, just trying to get files and things of that sort. He's a cheat code, man. He's a cheat code for sure. The Volume
