Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to an iHeart podcast. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of 2B. We dive into the competitive world of streaming. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. There's so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Volume Oh Joe, a fan pointed out the Coats social media account has only posted throws of Daniel Jones and none of Anthony Richardson. Have the coach already decided they're going with Daniel Jones? I don't think so. I don't think so. I doubt it. I doubt it. Obviously when it comes to a quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, I think that's one that Anthony Richardson would win. Obviously right now what they're doing right now, I don't think it's a testament to who would be the starter. Even if there is a quarterback competition,
Starting point is 00:01:31 I really think that Anthony Richardson would win that out, obviously having the edge, knowing the offense. Man, you ain't paying no guy no $14 million to sit on the bench. Also, they... What other backup quarterback you know making 14 million? Okay, so you think they...
Starting point is 00:01:44 Or the 31 other team? You think I'm going to throw them in there, huh? Based off of me? No, I'm just saying I think there's a quarterback competition. You said you don't think there's a quarterback competition. I think there's a quarterback competition. Or why else would they get that man 14 feet? I think one thing, Anthony Rich is at a head start on that quarterback competition because he knows the offense.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Yes, I agree. He knows the offense. Yes, I agree. He knows the offense. So if you allow him to beat you out, I think it's more politics because they're paying Daniel Jones 14, 14 goddamn million, and I think they'll just get... Bro, I took you number three overall. I put 38 million dollars in your pocket, guaranteed. I guaranteed your whole damn contract. What you mean? It's politics. It's politics that Anthony Richardson
Starting point is 00:02:27 hadn't gotten better in the things that he was doing wasn't conducive for you being a starting quarterback and being good. You think Daniel Jones is the answer? Because we saw him in New York. What's the question? What's the question? You said Daniel Jones the answer? I didn't know what the question. Did he go to Duke? Yes. Is his name Daniel Jones? Yes. You can't just say, do I think Daniel Jones answer? I didn't know the question.
Starting point is 00:02:54 I was running down everything you said. I was just running down everything you said that Anthony Richardson didn't do. It's saying, well, hey, what you think gonna happen when God damn Daniel Jones is there? It's going to be all of a sudden he's going to go from what he was last year and all of a sudden just be what Tom Brady this year? No, absolutely not. No, I think the thing is, but what is that?
Starting point is 00:03:16 Daniel Jones is who he is. In your third year did they bring another receiving in and they had him compete with you? Oh no, because by the time I hit my second year, I had arrived. Okay, thank you. That's all I need to say there. That was not only the Colts gaffe they've made in the last 24 hours. The Colts ended up deleting their schedule release video that is done by Minecraft Style and included a dolphin wearing a 10 Tyreke Hill jersey being pulled over by the Coast Guard. Remember what happened the opening day?
Starting point is 00:03:44 And an apology, the coach said, we've removed our scheduled release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins receiver Tyree Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyree. It wasn't fucking insensitive. Tyree came, one of them goddamn,
Starting point is 00:04:01 oh my God, why did you do that? He loved it and he tweeted it. He said you should have left it up at Colts. This was funny. Yeah, it was funny. It was. I mean, people have to understand, you make jokes about certain individuals,
Starting point is 00:04:16 you have to know who you're doing it to. Someone like Tireek is going to laugh at that. He's not one of those overly sensitive people, and obviously I'm assuming the people at the Colts don't know it and maybe other people will get upset for Tyreek. Tyreek wouldn't care. It was funny. Damn Tyreek, Microsoft. They tie your ass up with rights. They got more money than their whole NFL. All the NFL. You don't want to be messing with them, Ocho. There's certain things you can do like,
Starting point is 00:04:46 oh, I don't even care. And there's certain things, when it comes to big companies like this, that's sitting on three, four, five, six hundred, a billion dollars in cash, don't fool with them, Ocho. It ain't even worth it. Take it down, I'm sorry. Okay, I see what you mean.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Just, hey, Ocho, you just apologize and keep it moving. Yeah. And keep it moving. Yeah. And keep it moving. Some of the schedule releases and the creativity from some of the teams, I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed it. And that, Ocho, this is why we have to be super, super cautious.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I told Ash, we're not showing another video. We make sure. We ask, can we show this on our platform? Make sure we get it, and then we gonna screenshot it. Because the last thing we want somebody to do is say, yeah, you can do it, and then erase it. And we ain't got no, no, we ain't give no permission, no. You screenshot that, Ash.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Now that got us, that got our ass burnt. We had a 90 day, you know, we in probation Pro Bacon hell and then the dude took all the all the money that the revenue that we won that guy that we got from the video that whole episode he didn't ran through that now he got no more of that left oh Joe you probably got a DM you last week yeah yeah yeah yeah oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he got upset like bro Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay He got upset like bro you gave us permission to show the thing you gave us permission to show it oh I said I said I asked a message and I
Starting point is 00:06:20 You know, I was a man at whatever because I believe it was the issue. I was like, um, well position I mean man, we yeah, what's your location? So you could tell me what you're talking about in person. I have three drives. You know? I mean, you're feeling like, listen, I didn't say anything bad, huh? I ain't say anything bad. I just, that's a long time. I'm trying to get it out.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I'm trying to get it out. You from Miami, he took it away, but you know, I was like, bro, so you just bypass what I said. So you only heard what don't you say. I didn't say nothing bad. I just said that takes too long for me. I like to get in and out but you know I was like bro so you just bypass what I said so you only heard what Ocho said. I didn't say nothing bad I just said that takes too long for me I like to get in and out you know in and out. But he missed the point where I said before you said that Ocho I said bad deal that's $300. For the haircut the facial the shave the trim yes that's $300 so he bypassed it but again Ocho we talked about that. Remember
Starting point is 00:07:07 The way we're wired we only hear negative He bypassed the positive and I went long. I went longer with the positive then you did say that it take too long I went way longer, but that's what he heard But with a man I'm gonna go get it You ain't got no damn haircut you're the only one I'm gonna give it to you matter of fact Yeah, I'm gonna get my well let him do let him shave your head with that straight razor. No, okay I get bumps. I get bumps. I'm gonna that they look like they look at this crunch It would hey, I'm I don't know where it's at. I'm gonna have to ask
Starting point is 00:07:40 I'm gonna get that treatment. I'm a recorder too. Yeah. Man, we had a dude on our team. I ain't gonna call his name. He shaved with one of them disposable razors. Under here, it got... Man, it looked like he stuck his face in an ass baby. Nah, we called it bump day. It took me one time.
Starting point is 00:08:02 It took me one time to do it. I forgot, I think it was 2007 the barber I was in a rush. So he said well, let me use this on you and he used the electric Oh, oh Boy, it took by two it took about two days But all this up under here man look like a damn nasty crunch All right, Joe, Derek Henry and the Baltimore Ravens reached an agreement today on a two year, $30 million extension that includes 25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons for Todd France, athletes first.
Starting point is 00:08:33 It's the largest deal in NFL history for a running back over the age of 30. D. Henry is 31. Yeah. I mean, rightfully. You like it? Right. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Absolutely. Rightfully. So you know what you get, you know what you get, what you know, what you. You like it? Absolutely. Absolutely. Rightfully so. You know what you get. You know what you get. You know what you're going to get from him. You understand how he takes care of his body. He's a model citizen in the community, on the field.
Starting point is 00:08:54 So there's really no reason not to reward him for what he's going to do in the future. You're not paying him for what he's already done. You're paying him for what you know he's going to do in the future because he takes care of his body. And so based on the team they have around him, you know, he's going to be productive no matter what. Yeah. Cause the onus of the offense isn't just predicated on him by himself.
Starting point is 00:09:16 You got to worry about that quarterback. Bingo. So you can, you can, you could pay him that kind of money and understand it won't be all right. I love it. I love the deal. I love the Ravens have always been a team that reward their players. So I have no problem with this deal.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Running back, James Cook, applause the deal. Congrats. He steals without an extension. He wants 15 per year. Uh, he was on the show. He's like, Hey, I think I've shown my worth. I've, I've shown my value. Uh, as of right now, the bill's like, okay,
Starting point is 00:09:47 they don't seem to be like they're doing, they don't seem to be like they're doing anything. Obviously they tied up Josh Allen. They got him tied up. I think they redid Rousseau. I think they redid his deal. So it's gonna be very interesting to see how this thing plays out.
Starting point is 00:10:02 They have until, you know, hey, at some point in time before the season to get a deal done. Go ahead. I think they won't get it done for him. I think they're gonna get it done for him because one of the things that relieves some of the pressure off of Josh Allen is not the receiving core, it's having that young bull in the backfield. Yep. Not only carry the ball and take some of the pressure off Josh Allen, but being able to
Starting point is 00:10:25 catch the ball out the backfield as well. He can do so much. He's a Swiss Army and if he can do so much for them offensively, they got to reward him. Again, another one who you can pay going forward based on what he's going to do in the future because he's young, huh? Yes. You got to take care of him. You got to.
Starting point is 00:10:43 I'm Michael Kasson, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate
Starting point is 00:11:20 and help the right person discover the right content. The term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 00:11:46 you get your podcasts. Pat, you have to change your ways. Derek Carr announces his retirement from the NFL. Ocho 34 recently underwent multiple medical evaluations on his shoulder. Shoulder was deemed the only route back to 100% and that would mean up to six months of recovery. Carr retires after staying on 11 seasons. He's a four-time Pro Bowler, 257 touchdowns, 41,000 passing yards, top 25 all time, third place in the MVP vote.
Starting point is 00:12:30 He walks away from 30 mil. Hey, I have a question, I'm confused. We in April, we just had the draft. Yeah. The season ended, um, how long ago? December? Yeah, well, that season ended in January, beginning of January. Um, how long ago? December? Yeah. Well, they see the end of the January, beginning of January, but he know he was
Starting point is 00:12:49 his season bent over because he got hurt memorandum. So I'm trying to understand why wouldn't the situation rectified. So you come into the season healthy. Why are we still talking about the same thing we were talking about last year? Oh, what was it? You know, sometimes don't show, you know, they give you say rest and then when rest don't do it that's see now you don't let two months pass and rest. You should have went and had that shoulder. Listen you know good and well you don't play about nothing like that. Anything with the upper extremities
Starting point is 00:13:15 with the arms especially when it comes to a quarterback you want to get all those issues done and out the way. If there was even a thought or inclination that there's something wrong with it that would hamper your throwing motion or playing your position at the best of your ability, you go get it fixed. You go get it fixed. Coach O, Derrick Carr has made $205 million in his career. He has a 77-92 record, 455 win percentage, just one trip to the playoffs, and I think they lost to you guys. The ninth most cash from 2014 to 2024. Aaron Rodgers has made 292 million.
Starting point is 00:13:56 First Cousins, 291. Matthew Stafford, 287. Russell Wilson, 264. Dak Prescott, 244. Jerry Goff 234. Matt Ryan 222. Tom Brady 198. Derek Carr 196. And my homeboy 179. Them boys make a pretty penny boy. They make a pretty penny. And you know the funny thing about it? I was upset. I was sad. You know, I don't like to see players hurt. Hell, I got damn tweeted the broken heart emoji about Derek Carr being gone and then I had to remember, well you know what?
Starting point is 00:14:31 The people in New Orleans, in Baton Rouge, in Louisiana, man they happy. They cheering. They second lining. Oh, I mean, I know you're happy Derek Carr is gone. You didn't like your quarterback that you had, but now you got, now you got Spencer Raller. No disrespect to him, young bull. You got Spencer Raller and they took the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:14:54 What is his name? Sluck. Shuck. They took Shuck. I'm just telling you who they took. I ain't Shucking with you on your own. That you who they took. I ain't shucking with your old Joe. That's who they took. That's exactly how the Saints gonna be. They gonna be shook until they get a goddamn quarterback.
Starting point is 00:15:14 You know, and listen, a lot of people in New Orleans, boy, we ain't got no patience. We ain't got no patience. We done dealt with too much. We need a quarterback. Well, what happens is you get spoiled. You had Drew Brees for 15 years, and then you expect a quarterback. And what happens is you get spoiled. You had Drew Brees for 15 years and then you, you expect it. It's hard to follow that up.
Starting point is 00:15:29 You know, it look, you're not going to be green Bay. You're not going to have Brett Farr for 15, 20 years. You're not going to have Eric Rogers for 20 years. And then you go right to love. That ain't happening. You're not going to have most teams don't get to have 30, 40 years. I mean, you're talking about could be 40 plus years of prosperity at the quarterback position. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:15:51 That is absurd to think about it. Because think about it. You had 17 years with Britton, look, about 17 years with Favre. And then you had another 18 years with Rodgers. And now you have Love. So that's, that's what, 30, 35 years? So you about to have 45 maybe even 50 years of prosperity at the quarterback and not
Starting point is 00:16:10 just any quarterback we talk about them boys like that that that boy yeah you could make a case Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest of all time as was Brett Favre and listen your love on in his own right is on his way to be just that as well as he continues to improve year in and year out. But their car is done. Um, he says, no, I don't want to go through that anymore. He says, I talked to my wife and my family and, uh, six months, a rehab for 30 million, like, nah, it ain't even worth it.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Wait a minute, wait a minute. Stay with me right now. Hey Chad, y'all stay with me real quick. Uh, my Saints fans, tell a minute, wait a minute. Stay with me right now. Hey, Chad, y'all stay with me real quick. My Saints fans, tell me what you think about this. Now I know based on what we saw from him last year, it wasn't anything to hype about. You know, it wasn't nothing to second-line about.
Starting point is 00:16:53 But how about Aaron Rodgers coming in for a year in New Orleans until we get the rookie right? Or for Spencer Rallick and also, you know, watch and learn behind him. What y'all think about that? I know I got some Saint fans in the chat. I'm just curious. What's your thought on that? I let the Saint fans run. I let the Saint fans try to be with me.
Starting point is 00:17:10 What you think? No, yes, no. What you think? One year? No? Okay. Shadour had a hilarious response after being asked if he was gonna buy number two off Deandre Carter. Let's take a listen to what Shadour had to say about number two jersey. You try to buy two from off the Andre Carter. Let's take a listen to what Shadour had to say about number two jersey. You try to buy two from DeAndre?
Starting point is 00:17:28 No, I'm not trying to buy anything. My sign of bonus ain't that high right here. Yeah. I'm just kidding. He he he he he. Ah. I don't blame you, Shadour. You got to have some bread.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Like I said, when I went to Baltimore Ocho, I didn't want no... I didn't want an odd number. I didn't want 81 or 83 or 85, something like that. I didn't want that. I wanted an even number. I went to Jermaine Lewis, who had number 84 at the time. I offered him, I said, I'll buy you and your wife matching Rolex. You get a his, he get a hers.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Like, he said, nah, I want to keep it. So I ain't never really liked that being, the 88 number just didn't seem well with me. 82 was cool. Frank, Frank Wainwright, Frank Wainwright had it. And I was like, shh. I hear the boss say, freaky Frank, man, what you want for that number? He was with, if I'm not mistaken, Wainwright had it and I He'd about the Freaky Frank man, what you want for that number?
Starting point is 00:18:27 He was with if I'm not mistaken, I think he was with me a couple like in 99 He ended up getting released he was with me in Denver. So I kind of knew him a little bit I think free you call it Freaky Frank. That's a Freaky Frank man. What you want for 82? He likes Sharpie I don't want anything you could have it. I said nah, nah, nah Freaky Frank. That's your number and I want to give you something I said what you I'll be what you like to do what's your hobbies it's a man sharp I don't like to do anything fish man I said here I said how much is a bass boat cost you know the most sharp but you don't have to do that I said you
Starting point is 00:18:57 bought a home I bought him a bass I bought him him a basketball. Hey, if I was willing to give, you know, back then Rolex is probably his and hers probably been about 30,000. If I was willing to do that to get that to get 84, a basketball, I think I paid like 14 grand. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Oh, so you got on much better.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah. So, and plus Ozzy kind of had that number. I said, but I said, Ozzy, it ain't the same. It ain't Cleveland. I said, if it was Cleveland, it'd be one thing. You ain't, this ain't Cleveland. So, but it was good.
Starting point is 00:19:38 It worked out. And so I don't blame you, I ain't paying that money. I ain't paying nothing either. I feel throughout the draft pick. Now, when I got 84, cause I was 81 my first two years old, Joe, and then Ricky Natil ended up going to, I think he went to Tampa or something. Man, when I found out he wasn't coming back,
Starting point is 00:19:55 man, I called Dan so quick, I said, Dan, can I get 84? He's like, absolutely, shark. I said, hey, I called the equipment guy. Hey, I called equipment guy, what was his name? Bill, Bill something. Ronnie Bill, nah, Ronnie Bill was an uncle. But anyway, his nephew was the equipment guy at the time. I said, bro, you might as well go ahead and take that shark off 81 and put it on the back of 84.
Starting point is 00:20:24 I already called Dan. Boy, you might as well go ahead and take that sharp off 81 and put it on the back of 84. I already called Dan. Boy, you talking about happy? I feel like, damn, 80. They having a number you want to just do something to you. Can I ask you a question? It does, Ocho. Deandre Carter. What position did Young Bull play?
Starting point is 00:20:41 I don't know what position did Deandre Carter play? Probably offense, I'm a faking receiver what was he in college he had to be a high draft pick then then so he's a rookie he's a rookie coming in he's not a rookie he already had it He already had it. Oh, he might've came in free agency, Ocho. And why, I mean, why wouldn't he give?
Starting point is 00:21:09 Hold on. Now, when you have a single digit number, right? When you wear that single digit number, you understand what comes, you understand what comes with that. Whether it be Pop Warner, middle school, high school, in the NFL. Everybody with a single digit number is that boy. Deandre Carter, he's been number 16, number 14, number 19. He's been one twice, he's been 82, he's been three, he's been 11, now he's number two. Why you name so many numbers?
Starting point is 00:21:42 Because he's been on that many teams. All right no disrespect to him. I hope young Bull has a phenomenal season and show the you-know-what out with that number two on. Handy of business. But hey number two hey you got any anything from one to nine you got to be special. You cannot wear no single-digit number if you're not like that's why I said why was why would okay, but but I Hope young bull that's mandatory. I mean period Some things are just mandatory that is mandatory to at that. Oh Yes, you know any college. I mean NFL single-digit numbers are for those who are like that.
Starting point is 00:22:28 They put butts in the seats, but definitely they hear no there. Yeah, for sure. I was single digit ever since, cause I took the number three for my brother. So I went three all the way through high school and I went two all the way through college so yeah I wish I wish we could have single-digit numbers because I definitely would have got number two. Oh back then? Well Mike Moran had it. Oh yeah. I definitely would have got
Starting point is 00:23:01 number two. Well Mike Moran the pointer had, but as soon as he left, I'd have got it. Ha ha ha ha ha. Because back then, Ocho, it wasn't like it is now. You got a number and if you change numbers, you got all the other the other de-jurisdances and circulations and all that. I had to do that, yeah. Oh, did you? Absolutely. Now listen, I had no problem doing it because I understood what that name change had done. Ocho, we know how the media likes to critique any misstep times sons to paint a false narrative. I bet they won't highlight how respectful they are. Watch the video of Shiloh
Starting point is 00:23:40 shaking every media member's hand before start of first availability. Let's take a listen. Oh Joe My new meeting is here. Yeah So we got Logan Rock pleasure Brandon Nice to meet you. So here's our language
Starting point is 00:24:00 Nice to meet you. Love you, too. Me, please get you. Wow. There you go. Thanks, man. Oh my God, what is going on right here? Thank you, guys. Thank you, guys.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Nice. All right, I'm just staying right here. Yeah. I like it. According to Jenellay, Shiloh was the only player who's done that this week. He said Bucks were the first team to call. He's forever grateful that they gave him a chance.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Hey, listen, you might wanna make friends with them now cause they gonna be right there. They gonna be like Nats. They gonna be like Dicks and they gonna be fair. You know, so everything is up to you. That's all we ask. They gonna be fair. Everything is up to you.
Starting point is 00:24:41 You might as well be nice to them cause they gonna be in your face for a very, very long time. I'd be so good that when I have a bad game, they're like, hey, this is an aberration. This is not how he normally plays. Yep. That's... I mean, I was very, very fortunate. I think the thing is, Ocho, like,
Starting point is 00:24:59 when you come in as a low draft pick, you get a lot more grace. Because there's not the expectation of a first, second, third round pick on you get a lot more grace. Because there's not the expectation of a first, second, third round pick on you. So he's an undrafted free agent. So he'll get more benefit of the doubt than someone that was a first, second, or third round pick.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Or a veteran player that's played for a number of years. Kind of like, I was several round pick, Coach O. What are they gonna say? Oh, he's not very good? I was several round pick. But when I got good, he was like, Hey, I remember this guy was special teams. We saw how hard he worked, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:25:29 X Y and Z. They'll give him the grace, but he will have earned it. Who will have earned it? Jeff rookie, our mom, Membo didn't realize he would be rich after signing his rookie contract. Oh, Joe, take a listen to what he had to say. What was yesterday like you you signed first contract? Oh, it was pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:25:47 It was the first thing I wanted. It's like I let all them zeros on the page. I was like, I didn't realize how much money I was getting, but now it's definitely a blessing for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, let them zero. And the funny thing about it is he got drafted. You went through the whole process and didn't know how much you were getting
Starting point is 00:26:07 paid until you looked at the goddamn check, which lets me know that young boy is strictly about the game of football. How you, how you don't know. What, what would he pick that? No, what pick? Cause he probably Oh, okay, you know a lot of them guys that that that for that contract guarantee. Yeah, depending on how you go. Yeah, absolutely Absolutely, so he's ever picking the drill. Oh he's contract
Starting point is 00:26:39 Oh, yeah, yeah, you know the guarantee. Oh, yeah, boy. You got that money 32 mil 32 mil, don't you? Different 30 different they probably gave him a good 15 signing bonus different. I know he's feeling good Great. Hey, honey. How your life change just like that man in a matter of 24 hours on just like that 24 hours like that All the work you put in, all the ups and downs, the obstacles, oh my goodness. I remember that feeling like it was yesterday. Well, that didn't happen to me. My bad.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Mr. Boland paid me out of his back pocket. I had a... Hey, Ocho, I got, I made 60, my rookie contract, my base salary, my rookie year was $63,000. Yeah. Yeah. 73, I made 73 the next year. Yeah, oh you only had a $10,000 raise?
Starting point is 00:27:37 10,000. Oh, I got another 10,000 if I led, if I got 10,000 if I led special teams in tackle, I got 7,500 if I got second and I got 5,000 So I could you know, I picked up that I picked up five one-year Peter that right right, right? Okay Okay, a little tear a little tear come ahead Do you know it's so funny back then if you think about the times we're in now look at the prices of everything now the economy We're in now back then $63,000.000, that was a lot of goddamn money, boy.
Starting point is 00:28:06 I was a good banker, I was a good high-end banker. I was a lot of good money, boy. One week. Yeah, and then, you know, that was when I had incentives. That's why I was upset, Ocho, because remember I told you I had $100,000 if I got 1,000 yards receiving. And I had 9.95 at the half and then catch another pass,
Starting point is 00:28:22 then get another pass. Rainy quarterback. I went to the pro, I was the first team all pro and made 3.25. I made the pro bowl my third year, made 2.25, go back, made the pro bowl again, let all the tight enders catch us, touchdowns and yards. First team all pro, me and my brother,
Starting point is 00:28:42 first team all pros me and my brother first team first team all pros 325. The other that hundred hundred would have came in good don't you? Real nice. But my it's funny my how times have changed. Times. Okay what was the first thing you bought you got your signing bonus you probably got half a mil self-benties what's the first thing you bought? You got your signing bonus, you probably got half a mil, 750, what was the first thing you bought? Oh my goodness, I remember signing that check and leaving Mike Brown's office, I will never forget. And I'm not sure the signing bonus had anything to do
Starting point is 00:29:17 with the purchase or anything, but I went to McDonald's, right in Cumberland, right over the bridge, next to the Waffle House and I celebrated signing my first my first deal And the first thing I bought or purchased Kylie, huh? It might have been I got my first Chevy Yeah, probably wasn't nothing I got during the season I think it might have been in the offseason I bought my first don't for those that are in the chat there wasn't nothing I got during the season. I think it might have been in the off season. I bought my first Donk.
Starting point is 00:29:45 For those that are in the chat there from Miami, I got my first Donk. And I never forget, I'm sure Van Dyke could probably see this. Van Dyke, you probably remember that day, a friend of mine, he owns a restaurant called Eye Crave here in Miami. Very good seafood spot. So if you ever come down here to Miami, you got to check out Eye Crave. I bought my first Chevy from Van Dyke. Remember, I bought him a, I forgot how much it was,
Starting point is 00:30:09 but I bought him a cash and a little envelope. And that was my first car. That was always a dream car of mine. It was always something. I looked at some of the older dudes had in my area in Liberty City, and I was like, you know what? Grandma, one day I want one of them. And she, boy, you'll never have no guy
Starting point is 00:30:26 that you gonna be driving out all that noise and dripping oil in my driveway. And that was my first purchase. I'm like, finally I made it. I can get one for myself. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next.
Starting point is 00:30:46 In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content,
Starting point is 00:31:16 the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeart radio app, wherever you get your podcasts. Well, I went to Dairy Queen, got a bacon double cheeseburger, large fry, vanilla milkshake and Oreo bliver. Wait, where? Dairy Queen?
Starting point is 00:32:04 Dairy Queen. You said a burger. A bacon double cheeseburger. Dairy Queen sell things outside of this ice cream? Yeah! The hell? I ain't know that. Yeah, fish sandwiches, yeah. Well, hold on. They got, actually they got steak fingers now. There can't be no Dairy Queen in Miami, because I'd never heard of an ice cream place that's known for ice cream selling anything outside ice cream. It's like, you know, y'all got 31 flavors. Where you at? You heard of 31 flavors?
Starting point is 00:32:35 Huh? Baskin Robbins. Oh, that's Baskin Robbins? Oh, okay. Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins are something entirely different. Baskin Robbins only sell ice cream. Derek Queen sell other stuff too. Okay, you know, I never knew that.
Starting point is 00:32:49 They sell hot dogs, they sell chicken tenders, they sell fish filet, fish sandwiches. Hey, y'all got, y'all got. They have a single cheeseburger, double, half a triple. I ain't know that, man. But I got the bacon double cheeseburger, huh? You ever been to Jumbo's? They got J bacon double cheeseburger, huh? You ever been in jumbos? They got jumbos we from What about White Castle?
Starting point is 00:33:11 Not what brought from a small town we had We had Dairy Queen and we had hearty. Oh see that's I am. Yes. That's why you from okay. Okay. Okay, okay? I don't know about no White Castle until maybe I got to Colorado. We had, they had crystals like in Savannah. I heard, I know I was on the road. I think I might've been in Daytona. They have crystals in Daytona, right? If I'm not mistaken.
Starting point is 00:33:36 I went to NASCAR and I went to crystals with some folks and it was cool. It was cool. I enjoyed it. My first time having in North Carolina, I went to, I had a cookout. You ever had- I ain't never heard of that. What? You ain't never heard of cookout?
Starting point is 00:33:53 Uh-uh. No. Oh man, listen. I stopped side to road driving home and ate a Cracker Barrel though. Oh, hey, Cracker Barrel good, man. You know, some people don't like it. It is.
Starting point is 00:34:04 I hear all the turps in the... But that mama... Hey, listen. If you could get in there, it'll seem like everybody else be stopping to try to get cracker barrel, too. The mama's breakfast from Cracker Barrel, the pancakes with the egg scramble,
Starting point is 00:34:15 with the sausage, and I have warm... I have warm a syrup up, so it come out hot. Man, stop playing. What we talking about? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:26 So, yeah, bro, you straight now, but I tell people all the time, it ain't how much you make it, it's how much you keep it. All the time. Hey, hey, look, if there's something that you always wanted, hey, get your mom a little crab, a crib. You ain't gotta get your mom no 20,000, 10,000 square feet.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Get your mom something that she can keep up herself. And you know, you wanted something, I know there's something that you wanted, a special type of car. I mean, considering that you're in New York, you probably don't get an SUV. You need something that you can drive all the time. So whether it's a G-Wagon or a Range Rover,
Starting point is 00:35:01 something that you can, hey, stylish in the spring and summer, but also it gets cold. It gets snow on the ground in New York. So you're going to have to, you need to be, have a dual purpose. Now, unlike a, you know, if you're in Tampa, you're in Miami, Hey, it ain't going to snow, you can get you, you can get you, you know, rolls or bed lift. I'm saying if you're a high draft high round draft pick, if that's what you want, whatever it is that I've always wanted, you get that.
Starting point is 00:35:23 round draft pick if that's what you want whatever it is that I've always wanted you get that but yeah just but after that bro like hey stock that money most definitely yeah stock it oh matter of fact matter of fact before we keep on before we keep going for all the mothers that in the the chat, if you're on the East Coast, Happy Mother's Day to all of you, to my baby. I know you're probably sleeping, you're watching. Happy Mother's Day to you as well. And that's pretty much it. Yeah, Happy Mother's Day. Obviously, we're not on tomorrow. Yeah, let me go and get it down because we're not on tomorrow. So Happy Mother's go and get it down because we're not on tomorrow. So happy Mother's Day to everybody that's on the East Coast.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Even if you're not on the East Coast, happy Mother's Day. This is your day. Enjoy, enjoy this day and many, many more to come because you've earned it. You've earned this day brunch, whatever the case may be, bottomless mimosos, whatever the case you and your girls are, uh-huh,
Starting point is 00:36:26 mimosas, whatever it is, drink to your heart content, whether it's you and your girls, you and your hubby, your boyfriend, your significant other, or it's just a family outing. To all the mothers out there, congratulations for the job that you do, and hopefully you enjoy your day because you've earned this day.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Man, they don't do nothing like that for us or with your old father's day. Hey, listen, I don't. You notice, look it out, what do all the athletes say when they get the camera in them? Hey, mom! Hey, dad. Ain't nobody holding those signs say, hey, dad.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Hey, mom. Hey. I was the Tory for hey, granny. Ain't nobody holding those signs say, Hey, Dad. Hey, Mom. Hey. I was the Tory for Hey, Granny. But at that time, my grandmother was the only one alive. All my other my grandparents had passed away. So no, but to all the moms out there, sincerely from the bottom of our heart here at Nightcap, Ojo and I, we want to wish you a very, very special day and hopefully you enjoy this day. Basically, I mean, you basically can celebrate
Starting point is 00:37:30 to all the great mothers out there that's doing a wonderful job. You really should have every day as Mother's Day because it's a huge undertaking to raise kids, to raise a family, to be that person, that rock, that foundation. So we just wanna say thank you for the job. I'm going to them going to the To the grave site early in the morning. I think they open at 8 8 9 o'clock
Starting point is 00:37:51 I'm going out there call that little girl and my grandma sit down sit down there with them them for a little bit Yeah, yeah you are You going out there you go eat with yeah Yeah, you know, I don't eat I got my coffee and my cigar and I got a little chair in the back of my truck. I sit a little chair out there, you know, and I play some of the old school Mississippi mass choir, you know, had the Thones for me. James Cleveland. Reverend James Cleveland. Reverend James Boyd. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My grandfather loved him. Man, just sit there. Five blind boys. Five blind boys, man.
Starting point is 00:38:27 I never forget. I always think about, I always question life after death. And where do people go once they pass on it, they transition. I always say it all the time, every blue moon, even on, I think on here before, I always look for signs. If you love the way you said you did when you were alive, how come you never talked to me once you left? I'd never get any signs.
Starting point is 00:38:50 People say, well, signs are always there. They're always there, you just never pay attention. So I started paying attention to everything that was not normal that went along or went on in my life. And still to this day, grandma passed away in 2018. My grandma, I mean, yeah, my mama been gone now since 2021 and I just been waiting on a sign of some sort. You know, the whisper.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Sometimes, you know, you hear people say, my mama came to me and my grandma came to me or so-and-so came to me in my dream and I could hear her voice. I just haven't gotten that sign yet and I can't wait. I can't wait for that day where I can get that sign just to know that they okay. Are they doing well or just, just, it's whatever.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Sometimes I think we, I think sometimes Ocho, when we looking for signs, I think you say, speak to us. You looking for them like you and I talking right now. And it doesn't happen like that. I mean, sometimes it does, it come to you, your dream. I mean, I, you know, people say, man, and it would just seem like just yesterday I was just talking, you know, to my mom or my dad
Starting point is 00:39:49 or somebody, a significant other in my family that I've lost and they were having a conversation. And that's happened, I've actually, you know, been in a dream and I would tell my sister I was having a conversation with Granny and it just seemed like it was just so real. But yeah, that's tough. That's tough to, because you want you,
Starting point is 00:40:18 I mean, I think Ochoa for me, my grandmother saw a lot of what I've accomplished. I mean, she was there, you know, going to college. And I was talking, I was telling somebody, I was like, probably the proudest that I think I've been. My grandmother came to see my last college game. Last college game I played at Savannah State, my grandmother came.
Starting point is 00:40:41 She had never seen me play before that. They brought my sister, they brought her out on the field. You know, it's like, hey, you know, no, no. Boy, I gave a look on you. My grandma came on the field and then she came to see me graduate at college. Man. Man. Mmm. To see, to see that. To see a baby catch a touchdown in his final game at Savannah State. To see a baby get that degree.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Because I told people, I tell this story all the time, my grandmother sent me to Savannah State for two reasons. To get a degree and go to the NFL. I didn't know which one was going to happen first, but they were both going to happen. My grandma didn't know which one was gonna happen first, but they were both going to happen. My grandma didn't see me there either, to bull dive around. I like, I'm here. If I'm here, and I've never understood that, that some people go to college for four years
Starting point is 00:41:38 and they're further from graduating than when they got there. How the hell did that happen? Yeah. Bro, I'm here. and I started in developmental studies, Ocho. Developmental studies. Man, I wasn't embarrassed. They couldn't embarrass me. All them guys, they didn't want to go to class. They're going to think I'm dumb. Well, theoretically by the letter of the law, you are. But the objective is not to stay that way. Man, the joke was flunked out
Starting point is 00:42:09 because he wouldn't go to school. Damn. What? I'm going to go right to that trailer. I'm first went in to sit in the class. I go get that good old, get them biscuits, sausage biscuits, scrambled eggs, uh, uh, orange juice, belly full,
Starting point is 00:42:24 go sit up there and learn. I'm not embarrassed. I'm not embarrassed for the results I didn't get for the work that I didn't put in. I know I didn't do what I was supposed to do in high school, so how could I expect exemplary results when I gave bulljive effort? The Volume.
