All right, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Liam Cohen, head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, says Travis Hunter winning offensively and defensive rookie of the year is possible. Travis is listed as the start on offense and a backup on defense. To have a chance of winning both awards, you need to be playing full time offense and defense. So what do you think? I like it. I like think? I like it. I like it. I like it. I don't, I defensively, I don't think you're winning.
Starting point is 00:02:48 I think defensively rookie of the year is probably going to be Abdul, Abdul Carter. It's going to be Abdul Carter. I'm not sure what the workload would look like for asking Gentie down there in Las Vegas, but I think he would probably, probably come in second. But watching Abdul Carter and knowing what he can do defensively, especially coming off that edge, he's going to be a menace.
Starting point is 00:03:07 He is going to be a man. And you think about it. He got, he got Lawrence, he got Thimado. So pick and choose. He got a, he got a top two, three defensive tackle. Uh, he got, uh, came out Thimado that that can, you know, we know what he can do. He can rush the passer when he's healthy. So it's going to be hard to slide and try to like double him
Starting point is 00:03:31 and take him away. You know, normally what we've seen is that quarterbacks get a premium on winning rookie of the year. Cause oh, Joe, they got the ball. Joe gonna be throwing, he throw 30 touchdowns. It's hard to overcome that. Now, you have a situation like Chase, Chase put 1,400 yards up, so it was hard to deny him.
Starting point is 00:04:01 You look at, who else? Like you said, Gentie, running backs. He get 300 carats, he average four and a half, five yards a carat, that's 14, 1500 yard right there. Absolutely. And then guess what? 14, 1500 yards with 12, 15 touchdowns. I like it for offense, it's a rookie of the year, I like if our offense a rookie of the year.
Starting point is 00:04:26 You like about it? Yes, sir. Cause they gonna get him that ball. They gonna give him that ball. Listen, Brian, Tom and junior, he's not going, Brian, Tom and junior is going to do exactly what he did last year plus some, but because Tom and junior is so great at what he does so early, he's going to be the one to get double. He's gonna be the one to get double.
Starting point is 00:04:48 And that's when Trav is gonna do what he does. He gonna be gonna make the plays that he makes. I'm curious when they go nickel, I wonder if Trav coming on nickel. Oh yeah, for sure. That's all that. The question is, is he gonna be outside or is he gonna be inside?
Starting point is 00:05:04 I think he'd be inside to start off. You think so? Yeah. He tall, I think he's better outside. Okay. See, I don't know the death chart for the Jaguars. I'm not sure who they are. I'm sure they probably do have a nickel, so they might.
Starting point is 00:05:20 I'm not sure how it's gonna work. Hey, Ocho, you know them guys in that slot man. Them Joe was stopping on them, them Lamar Connors. Hey, they running that Zara on you. They running that will, they running that will route. It's different. You get like Keenan Allen. Hey, did Keenan Allen just go back?
Starting point is 00:05:41 Did he go back to the Chargers? He went back to the Chargers. I like that. I like that. Yeah, I like that move too to the charges. I like that. I like that. Yeah, I like that move too. I do. I like that move for our fourth mobs. Familiar with the system. So all they got to do is familiar offense, familiar with the quarterback. I like it. I like that move. There it is on your screen. Do you see it? The depth chart? No, it's not up there. It's not up there. It's. It's not it's not up there. It's not it's
Starting point is 00:06:05 It's in until you right now. Let me see. Let me check that out real quick. Yeah, he gonna be starting. Because right now, Jordan Lewis is the Nickelback. I got it. You got Tyson Campbell. You got Jerry and Jones. Oh, Jordan Lewis is there. OK, OK. Yeah, from the Cowboys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, he definitely.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Oh, yeah, he definitely. No disrespect. Darnale Savage, I think he's from Green Bay. Right. OK, I like Armstead, George Hines Allen, Olukun. They got a nice little squad. I am happy to be back too. Come on. Nice little squad.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Yeah, they're gonna be all right right. I'm going to see you. I see you. I miss you too, buddy. When you get special players like that, man, all you got to do is put them in position, man. It opens up everything else. You can do more. You have certain type of players with a special skill set.
Starting point is 00:07:24 That's why I like what the Steelers have this year on defense. They tailed off towards the end of the season for whatever reason, but they have so much now where they can do more. It opens up the playbook because you have a certain set of players that have special skill sets. It allows you to do more than what you could last time. Or last year for that matter. Yeah, so it's gonna be interesting. Like I said, it's, I mean, I just, I think that's just asking a lot of the young man
Starting point is 00:07:59 to play at that elite level and to try to play two positions. He grown man out here, it's different. Listen, you said he could do it? We gonna find out. We gonna find out real soon. You gonna find out. I have a question. As a rookie, does he play in the preseason or no?
Starting point is 00:08:19 Yeah. I think you gotta give him some, I think you gotta give him some. I think you gotta give him some rest. Let him go, okay, okay. Get used to that, get used to that speed of the game because it's completely different. It's completely different than practice. Titus.
Starting point is 00:08:39 What up, twin? I guess you can tell I've been going for 12 days. Oh, you've been going that long? Hey, Titus, what up, Twin? I guess you can tell I've been going for 12 days. Oh, you've been going that long? Hey Titus, what up Twin? Come on down to Miami. I'll take you to the dog park over in Midtown. He said I'm intact. He said they'll throw us both out.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Why? He intact. What that mean? He still got his seeds. He still got his seat. He still got his seat. Oh yeah, that's the whole point. I give a fuck. Hey listen. Nah, they don't.
Starting point is 00:09:11 It's a nice pool. Look at it. It's a nice pool, like they're little collies. You know? People sue you, man. Stop. Stop. That's enough.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Got me all scratched up. Hey, they about su swimming for every goddamn thing these days, Jesus Christ. So it's all right. Don't worry about it. I ain't got it. They done, I don't know. But it's gonna be very interesting to see.
Starting point is 00:09:41 He's starting wide receiver opposite of Brian Thomas Jr. And then he's back up to Jerry and Jones. So, hey, paying him a boatload of money. He says he can do it. Let's see what he can do. Prove all the doubters wrong. prove all the doubters wrong.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Mm hmm. The Colorado Buffalo Football have added Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders successes to their legacy Hall. Colorado Buffalo Football, they tweeted two new legends one historic Hall. Welcome to legacy Hall Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders. Many had issues with Shadour and Travis's jersey being retired by Coach Prime so quickly. Ocho, did Sanders and Hunter do enough to be immortalized so quickly? Yeah, I would think so.
Starting point is 00:10:38 There have been some other great college players. I'm not sure if they, Brother Cordell Stewart, if I'm not mistaken. The running back. Well, Rajam Salam, who was no longer with us, he won the Heisman, he won the first Heisman. They've had, look. There's one more. I think it's Supreme Court, he's a Supreme Court Justice.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Byron Wills of White. I think he was a Supreme Court Justice. Byron Wills a white. I think it was a Supreme court justice. He was the first great Colorado player. Another running back. I'm missing the running back. I think he wore number. They had, they had Eric B enemy. Eric B enemy.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Yeah. Yeah. They had Darien Hagan, J.J. Flanagan came out with me. But they had some, they had really good football players. That mean defensive players, you know, Chad Brown, they had Alfred Williams, they had Chris Hudson, Ronnie Braff. I mean, they've had some, they've had some, they've had some good players. They've had some good players. You know, Michael Westbrook came out of there. Oh, Big Mike.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Ray Carruth came out. Yeah, he was in. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Brooke came out of there. He and Cordell was on the same team. I mean, listen, I mean, Prime saw and felt it was fitting to retire, especially with what they did. They had two good seasons. They turned their program around. I don't really see anything wrong with it, especially based off what the team looked like
Starting point is 00:12:01 before they got there. And there should be nothing to be mad at. Well, look, you always gonna have some people because there are some people that says, hey, there are some guys that came before them and they probably should have, you know, not, I don't think the issue is the retirement of the jerseys. I think it's the time and how soon that happened.
Starting point is 00:12:25 So like a lot of these say if it happened 20, and time was it, hold on, so what? Rasha, you do Rashaam Salam number, but look what it took for you to do it. You gave him flowers, but he ain't here to smell them. So I think I could be wrong. I'm speaking as if I said, okay, this how I'm thinking. I'm thinking out loud so you guys can hear me.
Starting point is 00:12:50 It's like, okay, I got no problem. You want to retire Travis, you want to try Shadoor. Can we like make it like 20 years? I'm different. Look, let me tell you, the University of South Carolina retired my brother's number. He was still playing. So who am I? Savannah State, they didn't retire my number.
Starting point is 00:13:12 They just didn't, wouldn't give it out. There are a lot of guys that came in, wanted to wear the number two. And I remember Mackie, who would be a trainer, the head athletic trainer, and Bill Davis said, I don't think you guys realized who actually wore that number. Yeah, yeah, Kodri, yeah, Sharp wore it. Like, a three-time first team black college All-American, a Kodak All-American, three-time player of the year,
Starting point is 00:13:41 offensive player of the year, Georgia state player of the year. There ain't a whole lot of black college players can say they were state player of the year, offensive player of the year, Georgia state player of the year. There ain't a whole lot of black college players can say they were state player of the year. I beat University of Georgia players out. I beat Georgia Tech players out for that award. What's the truth, man? Yeah, Bill said, uh-uh. And so Coach Davis had passed,
Starting point is 00:14:00 and the president got in touch with Bucket, Bucket put me in touch with him, says, hey, shouldn't nobody, after talking to everybody that was here, and some of the faculty was still there. Nah. So, it ain't come to bother you, not Jordan. And so, but honestly, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:14:22 I think that has a lot to do with it. It's not that the numbers got retired. There's like, is honestly, Ocho, I think that has a lot to do with it. It's not that the numbers got retired. There's like, is that there's like, they bypassed the line. So you know, Alfred Williams, a Chad Brown, who was buckets award winners and things like that. Why wouldn't whoever was in a position of power, why didn't they have retired then? Well, don't start me lying.
Starting point is 00:14:45 I don't know, I don't know that much about Colorado. I be, I played in the state and I'm familiar with them, but I don't know. Listen, if they felt that much about them and they were great as they were during their time there, whoever was in place should have retired them, should have retired the Georgia if they saw fit. So I'm not sure why people are complaining.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Dion Sanders during his time having Shador. I mean, I'm confused. It makes no sense. Travis Hunter might have been the top selling jersey when he was playing. And I'm not talking about probably a lot of us but in general. The Colts released their first official depth chart on today ahead of their Thursday preseason
Starting point is 00:15:30 game against the Ravens. The quarterback selection depth chart reads as follows. Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson Sr. Oh, I like that. I like I like how they did that. They said or or, right? But that thing up in the air, huh? That thing, it is up in the air.
Starting point is 00:15:51 It's up in the air. Oh my goodness, man. I'm hoping Anthony Richardson is doing everything possible. I hope he's doing everything right. Going the extra mile, watching extra film, staying at the practice of the receivers, talking to your officer coordinator, talking to your head coach, doing everything you can
Starting point is 00:16:11 to make sure you do your best to win that job. Yeah. I hope so. Sorry. What I don't get though, look, I believe you could have got the same results bringing a guy in there and says, hey, I'm gonna give you an equal opportunity
Starting point is 00:16:29 to compete with this job and pay them five million. Oh. As opposed to bringing Daniel Jones in there and paying him 14 million because you got the expensive ass backup if he doesn't win this job. You know what, that's the agent. The agent worked his magic.
Starting point is 00:16:43 The agent worked his magic. The agent got in that money. I think it was anywhere else, he wouldn't have gotten no 14 million to be no backup. No. Yeah. And plus, Ocho, I'm gonna give you an opportunity to compete for a starting job. Ain't a whole lot of places we're gonna give him
Starting point is 00:16:59 an opportunity to compete for a starting job. So this is, I mean, and I get it, I would have went there also. 14 million and a legitimate opportunity to compete for a job. So this is, I mean, and I get it, I would have went there also. 14 million and a legitimate opportunity to compete for a job. Most definitely. Most definitely. Can't complain about that.
Starting point is 00:17:13 But you're absolutely right. Anthony Richardson, he needs to stay healthy. Hopefully he's learned from some of the mistakes that he's made over his first two years. And through that process, maturity, and just understanding what it takes to be a professional quarterback, hopefully he's able to turn the corner. Listen, you don't have a choice but to turn the corner.
Starting point is 00:17:40 You know what a third year means, right? You're a third year, that should make it a breaking year. That's when teams make a decision. You know what, are you our future or are you not? Or do we need to keep looking for someone at that position? Well, third year, guess what they normally do with quarterbacks when they play well? They normally reward them after the third year.
Starting point is 00:18:03 This is this year. Yeah. So, yeah, look, he has a, you know, he's saying all the right things. You know, hey, I gotta, you know, I gotta eat a certain way. I gotta cut the candy out, Ocho. I gotta eat like a professional.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I have to do things like a professional. I have to study. I got to eat like a professional. I have to do things like a professional. I have to study. I got to be the first one in. He's saying all the right things. Now it's a matter of doing all that lines up. You say this, you do this. And cause they, look, you look at that team offensively, they got a good team, Mocho.
Starting point is 00:18:46 They really do. When you look at their skill position players, you look at their running back, they got a solid offensive line. They got a nice defensive line. They got a good day. They surely do. Yeah, they got some good players. But I just feel the last couple years, they've been held back by the quarterback. There's no other way around it.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And we're not taking those shots at him. We're not beating nobody down. It's just the facts that their quarterback play has been insufficient, inadequate, not up to par. Not enough to win. And when you got those, you got Jonathan Taylor and you got Michael Pittman Jr. Pittman Jr. and you got Pierce and you got all those guys.
Starting point is 00:19:31 No bro, and Downs, what's the other guy? Is it McMillan, no? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. They got Pierce, Pittman Jr. and they got another guy. Yeah, I think he's wearing number 10, if I'm not mistaken. I might be seeing his last name. Yeah. Oh, A.D. Mitchell.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Mitchell, that's what he is. That's talking about McMillan. Mitchell. Hey, A.D. Mitchell. Hey, he... Downs? Josh Downs. Yeah, oh, they got some skill position players.
Starting point is 00:20:04 A.D. Mitchell gonna be nice boy. Yeah, defensively that front seven, they really good. Now the back end, y'all need to tighten up a little bit, but they got a nice front seven. The quarterback play need to match that. That's it. When you've accumulated that kind of talent, because guess what, Ocho?
Starting point is 00:20:27 You like to think, and that's what teams do. They try to, hey, let's mortgage this thing. We got to, you see what Houston, the Texans are doing. They're like, we got this quarterback on a rookie contract because that next contract, it's gonna be kind of hard to be able to keep all these pieces around, said individual player. Even if he gives you a discount, he'll give you no hundred million dollar discount.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Absolutely not. So it's going to be incumbent on Anthony Richardson to do better, to play better. Look, he got drafted on potential, Joe. That's what it was. He was basically a 50% quarterback in college. He was a 50% quarterback in it was. He was basically a 50% quarterback in college. He was a 50% quarterback in high school. He's been a 50% quarterback. But the tools that he presented, I mean, oh Joe, he's 6'5", he's 2'45", he ran 4'4".
Starting point is 00:21:15 He could throw the ball 80 yards, throw the ball 50 yards on one knee. All that side, but this is not the football Olympics. You gotta put it together. You need precision, you need touch, All that side, but this is not the football Olympics. You need precision, you need touch, you need understanding, you need the ability to process information, decipher that information, and then the ball needs to be gone to the right player
Starting point is 00:21:38 in the right position. Yeah. I don't think you are not breaking, we're not breaking news to anybody. You watch the game, you know his play needs to get better in order for them to be the type of team that the Colts want to be. He's got the vast, oh Joe, he's got the vastly improved. We ain't talking about no marginal improvement.
Starting point is 00:22:02 We're talking about vastly improved. He's got to make huge jumps. Yes. Huge jump. He's got to. Specific. And look, and it's gonna be, look, it's gonna be the owner, Jim Ursay passed away.
Starting point is 00:22:18 His daughters are running the team now. So, you know, they're gonna have that, you know, they're gonna be playing. I'm sure Shane Steichen, who's the head coach, is telling them, hey, we got to play for something. You know, Mr. Earthsay, this season is dedicated to him and X, Y and Z and rightfully so.
Starting point is 00:22:35 But Mr. Richardson, well, you got to perform. Yeah, they pay you. They they took you. They took a chance. And that's the only thing, Ocho, you say they took you, they took a chance. And that's the only thing, Ocho, you see, you know, man, I want a sure thing is things like this that gets you fired. Because the last thing I want to be doing is taking a quarterback three years ago, and I'm right back in the draft, taking a quarterback again.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Dang. I'm supposed to be trying to find, I'm supposed to be trying to fill in, Ocho. I buy a house, Ocho. I ain't trying to buy a house in three years. I'm just adding pieces. I'm adding some pool for, I'm adding some furniture by the pool.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Maybe I get an end table. Something like that, Ocho. I ain't really trying, a whole new house? That's a good one. That's a good analogy. I like that, Ocho, I ain't really trying, a whole new house? That's a good one, that's a good analogy, I like that. And so that's Anthony Richardson. He's got them proved to the point that they just add pieces around him.
Starting point is 00:23:36 You don't wanna be the piece that gets replaced. It's not a good thing. First, first, first, first, first. Ocho this weekend. Yeah. It was unbelievable. Tell me about it, tell me about it. Take your time, now, take your time.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Obviously, I went through this, I experienced this 14 years ago in 2011. And it was a great, it was unbelievable. I mean, it was a great honor, but this one topped it. Yes, sir. This one topped it. Because of the significance of it, what my brother meant to me and Ocho
Starting point is 00:24:13 to be in that Nitschke luncheon on Friday. And here, Rod Woodson, and here, Neas Williams, and here, Darrell Green, and some of the defensive players, be it Richard Dent and Johnny Randall, say, man, this was long overdue for your brother. To hear them say that, because I already knew it. You preach it to the choir.
Starting point is 00:24:36 I sing up here every Sunday. So I ain't new to the congregation. I'm here, I'm backing you up every week so I know what he is. I know what he was. And to see him finally get that recognition and to my mom, you know, there'll be other moms that have sons in the pro football of fame,
Starting point is 00:24:57 but they won't be first. To have my sister and my coach who coach both of us, coaching my entire family, my kids there, my sister-in-law and my niece, Susan and Summer, there to witness that and to experience that, Ocho, man, look here. And that's a great feeling, boy. Man, Ocho, man.
Starting point is 00:25:19 I can't, it's hard for me to describe Ocho. Yeah. And I knew I would be emotional, even though I had already, you know, It's hard for me to describe Ocho. And I knew I would be emotional, even though I had already, you know, I was his presenter and I had already done my part via video. So I did that a couple of weeks before. And so I thought, but the more he talked, more he talked and when he says,
Starting point is 00:25:42 I only have a couple of minutes left, but the last couple of minutes left, but the last couple of minutes, I want you, you gotta come up here. Yeah. Yeah. And when he called me to the stage and I had no idea what he was gonna say, he didn't write anything down. He was the only one that didn't have notes.
Starting point is 00:26:00 He didn't have anything. He said, I'm just gonna speak from the heart. Yeah. That's how, you know, that's pretty much how he does all this speaking and To hear him say That everything he did was for an audience of one He didn't care what you wrote about him he didn't care what you said about him
Starting point is 00:26:24 None of that matter He didn't care what you wrote about him. He didn't care what you said about him. None of that mattered. Because the only person that he wanted to impress was me. Everything that he did was because of me. And to hear him say, you know, you can't lead without following. And to hear him, because it's almost like I'm like, it's replaying the very words and how I felt about him, how I feel about him. And to hear him say that and to know the relationship that he and I have and I think people got an opportunity to see that on full display
Starting point is 00:27:07 Even on Friday night at the gold jacket presentation when you know You walk the gauntlet you go through all the Hall of Famers and we had we had almost a record So we had 111 members back now mind you of 382 my brothers the 382nd member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and if I'm not mistaken, I think there are 181 living members. Right. Okay. So that means there are 200, 201 that are no longer with us. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Talking to Bobby Bell this morning, getting on the plane, he's 115. There's only six with a lower number than him that's still remaining. So, and then, you know, you know, seeing all that, but to be there and to experience it. Oh Joe. Yeah. My brother's really not an emotional guy. Like I said, I think I'm only a handful of times. And like you said, when, when Papa died, he didn't cry.
Starting point is 00:28:01 When, when, when, when dad, when daddy died, he didn't cry. When granny passed, he didn't cry when when when when dad when daddy died, he didn't cry When granny passed he didn't cry But to be in his presence and to know what this moment meant to him, right My brother don't let a whole lot of things bother him and and and and But to be around him oh Joe cuz I know it, Oh Joe, cause I know it better than anybody. Yeah. I know it better than anybody. I know what this moment meant to him. I know what he felt.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I, I, I, I'm supposed to say, hell, I thought he was going to pick you up off the floor at the gold jacket ceremony. Right. Right. I said, yeah. And throw his back out in the process. But Ocho man, to see how he was walking around and to see the love and the kudos that he was getting from those other gold jacket wears and the members
Starting point is 00:28:58 and at his party and to have the bust and to have his family. Cause we don't get, like I said, Ocho, we don't get together much. And I said, bro, we got to do a better job of that. I say, look, when you really cut it down to, I said, us is me, you, mama and Libby, my kids, and you know, Susan and somebody said, we got to do a better job, bro.
Starting point is 00:29:22 We got to do a better job. I said, you know, theoretically and somebody said, we got to do a better job, bro. We got to do a better job. I said, you know, theoretically mom could still outlive us long, but come on, we can do a better job than what we've been doing. But Ocho, that was the crown of achievement there. Ain't nothing topping that, ain't nothing topping that, Ocho. Because there's, if you play a sport to go into your sports heaven,
Starting point is 00:29:45 and that's what the hall of fame is. Yes, sir. Be it baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, rock and roll hall of fame. If you go into your professions, heaven, that's what the hall of fame is. When you get there, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Now that's it. That's it. And man, I cried. I've been up all night. The love and the respect that was shown to my brother. Man, Ocho. Yeah, I already listened. Boy, I already know. I my brother. Man, Ocho. Yeah, I already listened. Boy, I already know.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I already know. Man. I mean, Jordan done posted so much stuff. I'm like, what the hell? I'm looking at my feed and I'm like, what the hell? Did you go to sleep? You posting in the middle of the night? Cause every time collab, collab, post, post, post.
Starting point is 00:30:42 I'm like, what the hell? Speaking of, listen, somebody sent me something. They didn't have your information. You said it was photo gallery I sent you? Uh-uh, you just sent me something? Hey, man, no, this was a few days ago, remember? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody, you know, they didn't have your information.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Shoot, they sent me the whole photo gallery. Oh man, it's, that moment, bro, and you know, riding in the parade and everybody, cause it was the Packers, the Packers traveled really well and to see some of his teammates, because I don't know if you noticed Ocho, when he sat down with me, I didn't know this at the time. I didn't, I didn't know he never shared this.
Starting point is 00:31:18 So what he said on the pod was the first time. When he had his neck surgery, no one called him. on the pod was the first time. And when he had his neck surgery, no one called him. Not a teammate, not a coach, not a front office. We call hell getting him to accept them doing this party. I said, because what I told him, I said, now you have to understand the people that's in place now were in place then.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Right. I said, now I'm not saying that your anger isn't warranted. I said, but in this situation is misplaced. Right. The people that you should be upset with, they weren't there. Yeah, they long gone. They were there. And, they long gone.
Starting point is 00:32:05 They were there. And I didn't know, like I said, Ocho, I didn't know that. I did, Ocho, the man, there's a chance that he could have been paralyzed. Yes, sir. From neck down. He could have been a quadriplegic. Now mind you, his last season, he still has time for the third most receiving touchdowns in a single season. And he never played another season.
Starting point is 00:32:28 So he goes under the knife and not, not just imagine Ocho, you go through a surgery that you could be paralyzed or worse. The owner, a coach, a teammate, not even TJ, not Carson, not the general manager, not your head coach, not even Hugh Jack. No one calls you and checks on you? Shit, boy.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Listen, that tells you all you need to know though. You hear me? So think about the people you just named So think about the people you just named. Think about the people you just named. Nothing is even wrong with me. And everybody you just named, I've talked to at least three times a month. Mind you, I am of no value to Marvin Lewis anymore. I'm of no value to Hugh Jackson anymore.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Hell, me and TJ, we in a group chat with about 20 bangles. So that's, that's a constant, a constant, uh, you know, form of communication, but that, that would hurt so bad. It did bother the people that I went to war with the people that I'm playing for, not giving me a call with, with the extent of my injury, with a chance I could be paralyzed, and I can't play ball anymore, and nobody reached out, not a flower, not a motherfucking card. I'm just not, damn, I'm sorry. So I think that bothered him the most.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Yeah. And he still, I was like, bro, you know, and he's finally like letting it go. Cause my brother, you know, he, you know, he's, he don't hit you over the head with it, but carries his Bible, he goes to church, he reads the scripture. So he's learned, Ocho, that I've gotta let this go.
Starting point is 00:34:20 He says, I can't be what I'm proclaiming to be if I still have this in I'm proclaiming to be. If I still have this in my heart. Yes. And so, uh, but it was, it, it was tough for him. Um, I'm number, I'm number two 67. He's number three 82. Um, I think they said over 30,000 men have played this game, caught this game, owned a team, been a general manager. 30,382 men have a gold jacket. They said over 300, what is it?
Starting point is 00:34:57 300 million men have played the game of football? Let that thing get on your 300 million. Oh yeah. the game of football, let that thing get on your 300 million. Oh yeah. So my mom, my mom was like, I got two boys. Talk about, I probably need to scan. I might have another son out there somewhere. I say, you don't.
Starting point is 00:35:18 You don't. You ain't got another son. You ain't got another daughter. I promise you, this is all you got. Yeah. This is all, you got what you got. Daddy, hey, you told daddy shop was closed after me. You say, hey, when they ask you, they say,
Starting point is 00:35:36 Papa ask you, say, well, Alice, what you want? Dad, I don't give a damn if it's a lizard, I'm done. So, dad, I don't give a damn if it's a lizard. I'm done. So, you got what you got, mama. That's it. But she was happy. My father, my coach, Coach Hall, like I said, you know, he was there, coached all my uncles.
Starting point is 00:35:57 My uncle started graduating high school in 1966. I graduated 86. Yeah. He taught for 50 years and having him there. But Ocho, I don't know if you saw this. I know you couldn't pick it up, but at the gold jacket ceremony, what they did, they started doing, I don't know when they started it.
Starting point is 00:36:18 This is my first time back since 2019, is that obviously you walk the gauntlet, so you have four guys, two walk this way, two guys walk that way, and you got all the Hall of Famers and they give you, hey, congratulations, welcome to the fraternity, welcome to the brotherhood. Then you get up on stage and then, I was really the only presenter that was actually there.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Dean Spanos who presented, no, his dad. His dad was, yeah, his dad was there. I think his dad was there. Jared Allen's dad was there, put the code on him. Marcus put the code on Eric Allen. And then LT, LaDane and Thomas, put it on Gates, Antonio Gates. But anyway, and so they come up,
Starting point is 00:36:59 they bring your family out, they let your kids, your wife come up, your kids come up, your mom, X, Y, and Z. So Jared Allen, Jared Allen family comes up there and everybody, he's excited, you know, his wife is excited, the girls come running to him. I think one of the daughters had on cowboy boots. So he got, but anyway, you know, he got his signature, his signature move, Ocho, you know what he do?
Starting point is 00:37:22 He calf rope, he go down on one knee, hit the calf, tied up and wah wah. He go down on one knee, calf rope that thing, split his pants. So where I am, I can see, I think he ripped his pants. From the back of his knee all the way up to the top of his belt. For real?
Starting point is 00:37:49 Yeah. So now they got to rush over again. They got to rush over cause the hotel is really close by where they were staying. They got to rush over, get a police escort and get him a pair of pants. Cause you know. Hey, that's funny.
Starting point is 00:38:03 That's funny. There's a clip out there and I know we didn't get a chance So. Hey, that's funny. That's funny. There are the clip out there, and I know we didn't get a chance to vet it and we don't know who it belongs to, but there are the clip out there and you can see it. He grabbed the back, he grabbed, at first I thought he had, I said, damn, you would twist your hamstring?
Starting point is 00:38:17 You don't do no. But then as he started to move, I was like, nah, bro, you ripped him. And he really did. But it was like, nah, bro, you ripped him. And he really did. But it was great to see, like I said, I know Gates, Gates my guy, like a little brother to me. And to see, played against Eric Allen. I played against EA in Philly and when he was at the Raiders
Starting point is 00:38:37 cause he was chasing me in the end zone. And who else? Jared Allen, Jared retired. He came to Kansas City the year I retired. And EA Gates, that was it. Now who else? Oh, yeah, my brother obviously played against my brother twice.
Starting point is 00:38:54 But oh, Joe, it was unbelievable. They're doing so much. They're building it up now. They're trying to do more for the players that are in the Hall of Fame. But it's an unbelievable experience. And- Whoo.
Starting point is 00:39:11 That's dope. That's live. I don't know what I did to deserve all this, what you've done for my family. But I appreciate it. The biggest news of the day, Ocho. The Browns have released their depth chart. Joe Flacco. I told you. I told you.
Starting point is 00:39:25 QB1. Kenny Pickett. Two. Dylan Gabriel. Three. Shadour Sanders. Five. Excuse me, four.
Starting point is 00:39:35 But they did bring in, because two of the four quarterbacks are injured, hamstring Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel. And a few hours ago, this is what Adam Schepter tweeted. The Browns are signing Tyler Snoop Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland. With Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel, nursing hamstring injuries,
Starting point is 00:39:58 and Shadoura Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley. Oh Joe. Yes sir, talk to me. What are the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley. Yes sir, talk to me. What are the Browns doing? I don't know what they're doing. We don't know what they've done the last 35 quarters. Do they know?
Starting point is 00:40:14 Are we sure they know what they're doing? Have they known what they're doing since that franchise has been established? Have they figured it out yet? Because the last good quarterback, no disrespect to the quarterbacks that have played for Cleveland Brown, the last one that has been of decency has been Bernie Cozart from not mistaken.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Yeah, that's in mid-80s though. Mid who? Okay, well there you go. There you go. That's no disrespect to any of the quarterbacks that have played there, but it is what it is. We talk about consistency. Have we had one for a decade
Starting point is 00:40:45 that we've been able to lean on and build around? You had a couple of years, you got a couple of years of Baker, but outside of that, no. No disrespect. Come on, man. Come on, man. So how do we-
Starting point is 00:40:56 If that's the problem that you have, Ochote. How do we support a trustless organization when it comes to choosing quarterbacks at a position when they haven't figured it out all these years. All of a sudden, now they got all the motherfuckers, excuse me, now they got all the cents. They're supposed to have all the cents now. The depth chart to me, I'm gonna let you go.
Starting point is 00:41:14 The depth chart to me doesn't mean anything. We know what Joe Flackham will do when the lights come on. Kenny Pickett had his opportunity when he was drafted to the Steelers. So we've seen the sample size of that already. I mean, no disrespect to him. He's not the answer. Dylan Gabriel has success at Oregon when the lights come on.
Starting point is 00:41:29 But it's a different ball game in the NFL with the grown men. They got mouths to feed. Everyone should get a ample chance to win their starting position. We already know who quarterback one is going to be. We know who that gonna be. The depth chart doesn't mean anything. What they trying to do is they trying to break young bull. They trying to break him on that's all it is from the draft process.
Starting point is 00:41:48 They're getting drafted in the fifth round to the owner coming out and saying what you said last week to now, man, come on with that bulls eye, man. I don't see how Kenny Pickett still remains. Number two, he hadn't practiced since the 26th of July, if I'm not mistaken. So he's been dealing with a hamstring injury. But when you go out and sign somebody in free agency, I mean, I guess that does tell you
Starting point is 00:42:15 they do think highly of him because they signed him. Dylan Gabriel, he's dealing with a hamstring. I guess the worst thing that happened is that we could have found out because had both of those guys been injured, we head into the first preseason game and only Flacco and Shadoura is healthy. Now, it remains to be seen
Starting point is 00:42:39 how much Joe Flacco is going to play. If he plays, I'm thinking maybe a series on Joe. That's tough. Let's be generous and say a series. Now that was gonna be a Shadour opportunity to basically take it home. We saw Trey Lance. Trey Lance started the game and played what? Deep into the fourth quarter,
Starting point is 00:42:56 hell, he might've finished the game. With that being said, the worst thing that could possibly happen, happen for the Browns is that the two quarterbacks that you're probably counting on, they both got hurt. And they got hurt early. Now we'll see how soon it remains to be seen. I think I said last night, they played Thursday.
Starting point is 00:43:19 They played Thursday or Friday? Is it Friday? Okay. They played Friday. They played Friday against the Panthers. Three more days. I'm excited. Is Shadour gonna play? Yes, he doesn't have a choice. This is part of his resume. But if he showed it but but but but what if he had? I mean, wait. I mean, clearly, they don't feel that confident because if they thought Shadour was gonna be
Starting point is 00:43:44 able to go, would they have brought a fifth quarterback in on Joe? Yeah, they had to bring somebody else in because Kenny Pickett's probably not going to play, especially with a hamstring injury. The game is fighting. I don't think either one, I don't think two and three is going to play. Yeah, so definitely, definitely he's going to play. Listen, the eye in the sky doesn't lie and they need Shadour to put what he can on tape. They need to, what are we going to get?
Starting point is 00:44:06 What did we draft? All the work we put in obviously going against offense and defense in practice, that don't mean nothing. Well, you don't expect to get, Ocho, how long you expect to find a hundred on Carter Lance? Think about where they drafted him now. Now, clearly they ain't putting a whole lot of resources behind it. No. So they're not, let's let's let up. You know what, Ocho, you know a whole lot of resources behind it. No. So they're not, let's, let's, you know what, Ocho, you know what we do here on Nightcap.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Come on, talk to me now. Chad, you know, when you go buy what we used to call, when I was growing up, we call it second hand. When you go buy something second hand and you spend $500 or you spend $1,000 and as is no warranty. You're not expecting them, okay, hopefully get me from point A to point B. They drafted Shadour in the fifth round. They're not expecting much of Shadour. They didn't because if they thought that much of him, they'd have drafted him higher. If they thought that much of him, they would have given him a fair opportunity,
Starting point is 00:45:03 but that's not what they've done. And I'm like, look, that's their organization. They run it how they see fit. But I don't know, people in Cleveland, I don't know how you would still have trust in this organization, considering how many quarterbacks, and every quarterback they say, oh, he's franchise, he's franchise You said that with Derek Anderson and you said that bit after before him and you said that after him
Starting point is 00:45:30 Baker got injured and you moved on from him now Baker didn't have the weapons that he has in Tampa I don't think Baker's like oh my Wish I could have stayed in Cleveland the weather's a lot lice in Tampa and there's no state income tax and he has a great support system around it. With all that being said, I don't think, I don't think it's musty like boy, maybe they bet against him. Listen, it happens all the time. I don't want to, if I, if Shadoor, how does that make me look if Shadour looks well, Ojo? Wait, he gonna, excuse me.
Starting point is 00:46:10 The adversity and the obstacles that young bullies had to endure in general. He's been pre, he's been prepped for this. He's been prepped for this. Oh, they're against me since he got drafted when he dropped in the fifth round. He already knew what time it was when your opportunity gets there when you get your opportunity You have no choice but to shine
Starting point is 00:46:33 You have no choice they're betting against him not to do well Right, but if you want me to win the race, oh Joe You got to put me on a fair bread like everybody else You can't give me a class down if they go win this race is hecho, you got to put me on a fair bread like everybody else. You can't give me a Clydesdale and say, go win this race. Is he at, let me ask you this. When he is in the game, is he going to get the first team offensive line? Cause that's what, when they want to, when they want to give you a serious look, Ocho, you and I both played this game for a long period of time.
Starting point is 00:47:01 When they want to give, when they want to give a receiver a serious look, they let him run with the ones. They don't continuously see what he can do with the twos and threes. They give him a fair opportunity with the ones. The number one quarterback, the number one offensive line, and the other one receivers on the opposite side of him. Quarterbacks, when they are running backs,
Starting point is 00:47:21 when they really want to see what you can do, they let you run with the one, the number one O line. And normally when they pull the offensive line out, guess who else coming out? The quarterback, because the quarterback, the starting quarterback is not going to be in there with the twos and threes. The starting running back is not going to be in there
Starting point is 00:47:39 with the twos and threes. So I'm going to be very interesting to see. It is the first preseason game. And given the way the preseason is done now, starters don't normally play. They don't normally play and they don't play much. So Shadour is going to have to make wine with the well water that he's been given.
Starting point is 00:48:03 He's not been given purified water. He's not been given purified water. He's not been given bottled water. So he's going to have to make do with what he has. This is the good thing though. The cards that he's dealt on Friday night, when he enters that game, regardless of what's surrounding him, he's going to make something happen. When he does make something happen,
Starting point is 00:48:20 when he's able to make something out of nothing, and there's no disrespect to the twos and threes and the fours that are trying to make that team, everybody out there vying for a job. For sure. But you and I both know, Ocho. They're only about five jobs up for grab. They know within 40 guys, 41 guys, who's gonna be on that rock.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Listen, they don't know yet, because what they're planning on or what they're trying to do, whatever it may be, when he gets his opportunity, all they got to do is knock the door down. I don't care what you put around me. I'm going to show you. I'm going to get the job done. So imagine if I can get out there and cut up on Friday with threes and fours and twos at my helm, what you think will happen when I got the ones? What you think will happen when I got the ones which thing will happen when I got when I got Judy? huh and in Joku and the rest of them boys at my disposal as my weaponry if I can do this with my threes and fours and twos out here in a preseason game All these done all this life is win, huh?
Starting point is 00:49:20 That's all these done. So now you put me in this is in this situation a little obstacle a little adversity All right. I got this I've been here before I got this Yeah, I agree with your joke, I mean he's never had a situation like this You don't know what you could overcome until you're faced with it. God, dog it, man. Where's my pen? Oh, that's a good one. Let me write that down. Because strength is- Wait, don't go too fast, man. I gotta write that down. I'm gonna put that in my note. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Because, oh, here's the thing. See, strength is not what you possess. Strength is overcoming something that you didn't think you could. See, a lot of people think, well, I can lift this or I can do that. That is not strength. Strength is overcoming something you didn't think you could. He's never been in this situation before. He's been the best. And now he's going to have to, that strength that his father has instilled him, his father is very biblical, his father is very into the church, is into the word. All those words that his father has been preaching to him for a lifetime, it will be put to the
Starting point is 00:50:36 test. See, like when the devil told you, yeah, of course, God, he's going to serve you. You give him everything. Look at the family. Look at the livestock that you have. Look at what you blessed him with. Why would he not serve you? Remove the hedge and he'll curse his very maker.
Starting point is 00:50:59 Shadur has had abundance of everything. He had a dad that had resources to get him that opportunity to go learn and study under Tom Brady, to get him throwing coaches and to put him in the best situations. Now, you can recall, you can call on that, the recall what Tom said this and this guy said that and do this, do that. But at the end of the day, when you fall on your knees, now, because see, that's what faith is.
Starting point is 00:51:40 It's believing even though you can't see it. You see, man says, show me and I'll trust you. God says, trust me and I'll show you. You see the difference between the two? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shaddurah is going to have to rely on his faith because at this time, that's all he has. And I'm not so sure that he's not the only one that has it, because I'm not so sure the people in that building
Starting point is 00:52:12 have faith in him. But you can't, listen, the people in the building, you ain't got to worry about that. You don't have to worry about that. At the end of the day, if they don't want you, if they don't want you, let me, let me put on film. Let me. Yes, that's what you got to do at the end of the day, regardless of what they do, regardless of where I'm on the depth chart, I have a job to do. And I'm going to do it to the best of
Starting point is 00:52:36 my ability, regardless of what you put out there on the field with me on Friday. At the end of the day is still football. We've been all been playing football since we Cream arrives to the tree. Now you just took the world right out my mouth I've been in should do it. See I was should do it Sanders before should do it Sanders just at a different position I know what it's like. I went to a team that just went to the Super Bowl, although they got drugged They brought every receiver back Mark Jackson Vance Johnson, Ricky Natil, Michael Young, they only keeping five receivers and four other guys that went to the Super Bowl are back.
Starting point is 00:53:18 They're back. You gonna be all right. So we got, they bring in four or five other receivers. Shannon Sharps is the seventh rounder. I Know that but I'm a camp supposed to be a camp body But what you expect out of me and what I expect out of me are two different things I Don't let you sit my agenda. I don't let you sit my expectation. I see you That's and that's how should do her has to think I
Starting point is 00:53:49 Know what y'all I know what your plan. I know a in life When uh, we're Rachel Claude, he's like, I know you're thinking something you got something up your sleeve I know you got something brewing. I ain't got nothing rate. I got a ass cutting for your brewing I ain't got nothing, Ray. I got a ass cutting for your brewing. Shador just needs to be Shador. He doesn't have to be anything else other than that. And that's good enough. His best is good enough.
Starting point is 00:54:18 He doesn't have to be extraordinary. This is now the NFL, it is the league. Remember that movie, the League of Extraord the league remember that movie the League of extraordinary So when there are a lot of extraordinary gentlemen a lot of a lot of But that ain't what he has to beat out And that's no disrespect to them Let's just let's be realistic. They take it how they want to I'm just saying it
Starting point is 00:54:43 Joe Flacco the year 18 and he's way past his prime. Kenny Pickett, hey, we'll see he's hurt. Can't make the club in the tub. Dylan Gabriel, he's hurt. I'm telling you what's gonna happen. One thing about it, one thing about the football gods, you hear me, one thing about the football gods, when they know, when they know,
Starting point is 00:55:05 especially it's funny business going on, the way they moving, cream or your ass at the top, that's it. I don't care what you put around me. I'm gonna make it work. I'm gonna make it do the, listen, when you go to the casino and they deal you them goddamn cards,
Starting point is 00:55:22 you can't control what you dealt. Hey, you gotta play the hand you dealt. You gotta play the hand you dealt. You gotta play the hand you dealt. You gotta play it to the best of your ability. That's it. That's all you got to do. Go out there with just straight, straight confidence. This is my team.
Starting point is 00:55:36 You got to walk it. You got to play like it. You got to walk in that stadium like you own it. You got to walk. You got to. I see the game y'all playing. Okay, bet. Let me show you something. Yeah, and it's not easy because I don't want people to fake that. Oh, he you never yes.
Starting point is 00:55:54 Yes, there were there were there were nights that I would go to bed and I'm asking myself, am I good enough? Man, I only got three plays and I ain't ketchup hands. So if I'm a receiver, how am I getting judged? Yeah, by everything else. To do as a quarterback. He don't get no reps. How is he getting judged?
Starting point is 00:56:16 Okay, I caught one, I caught it. I caught it. And it's like, man, is it, man, I had this great career at Glenville. I had a great career at Savannah State, and now I'm here. In my mind, I'm thinking, what person doesn't think that he's better than some of the people that he's going against?
Starting point is 00:56:36 It wasn't like I was, I wasn't going against Hall of Fame receivers. It wasn't Jerry. I wasn't, it wasn't Jerry Rice and my brother and Chris Carter and all those guys out there. That was how I was gonna have to try to win time from. But I, look, it gave me confidence that John Elway told me I could play in this league.
Starting point is 00:56:57 He thought I had the ability to play. It helped me a lot when Mark Jackson would tell, would legitimately tell me what I needed to do. But yeah, there was, I'm fighting for a job and we fighting for a job and a guy told me the wrong route. I didn't know it was the wrong route. I went in there and ran it.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Dan Reed chewed my ass out. You was doing full speed though. Hey, asked me what the hell I'm running the route. Hey, I'm slow. I just knew I ran right. Right. Hey, nice move. Hey, nice slap.
Starting point is 00:57:33 Arm or rib, that try to, you know what I'm saying, Ochoa? Hey, I hit it right quick. Because you know, back then, if you spend too much time dancing to the line of scrimmage, they're going to come up through your face mask. So hey, plant, chop, I'm over.
