ding-d-d-l-lang-al-lang-al-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h. So thanks so much for joining. Today I want to talk about
consistency and the power of being consistent, even if you're doing things really badly. Even if you're
really have no idea what you're doing or you're not doing things, well, you can still achieve
so much with consistency.
And before I jump right into that, I want to talk about something else that happened today
that I thought was pretty cool.
My daughter, my middle daughter, Abby, she's got an award again at school for something
called Skills for Success.
And she gets this award quite often.
They do it, I think, four times a year or something.
And what it means is that the child gets straight ease.
And we still have ABCDs when it comes to grades.
but their school, and maybe, I don't know, this is a normal thing in all the schools,
but I wish that we had this when I was a kid.
They also grade things like how hard you work, how organized you are, your dedication,
your attitude, how kind you are to other people.
So there's definitely still, you know, they're grading for math and fitness, like gym and
English and French.
but there's also this whole other section of the report card that has nothing to do with your
intelligence and everything to do with just how hard you're trying or how positive a person you are.
And that is the part that they're actually rewarding in the school.
So they don't have a reward for a kid that gets straight A's.
Instead, they have rewards for the kids that are really trying and making an effort.
So I thought that was a really cool thing because I think in life,
It doesn't always matter how intelligent you are.
Just because you're crazy smart doesn't mean that you are going to be really successful.
I think success comes from all those other things.
Hard work, dedication, positive attitude, not giving up, perseverance, and organization,
all the things that they're really rewarding and focusing on in the school.
So all the kids who get excellent in all of those areas,
they get on stage, they get an award, it's a whole big thing.
So because I went to that assembly today, and I kind of groan every time I go to this assembly
because it's like a constant thing.
It just feels like I'm there all the time, and it's great.
And I want to support her, obviously.
But I took away a real positive out of that too, and that I think it's great that that is being
rewarded in kids because it's something that I think,
As adults, we don't really see the value in sometimes.
We don't see the importance of that.
Instead, we look at who's earning the most money or even in school, who's getting the best grades.
And then that's going to translate to a really great life.
When I look around at all the people that I know or people that I really respect and they're not always the ones that had straight days in school.
They're the people who worked really hard, who have come.
constantly had a positive attitude or they, you know, they fail and they get back up and they try
again. And they're always people who are consistent. So again, that's why I wanted to talk today
about consistency. Because for me, I'm not always rocking the other stuff. I mean, I'm not always having
the most positive attitude. And I wouldn't even say that I'm really a hard worker.
Sometimes I have dedication, but sometimes I'm not that dedicated either. But one thing,
thing that I can say that I've done when it comes to my business and my home and organization
is I've been consistent just a little bit every day. So I'm actually right now writing my third
book, which is nuts to think about because I never, I'm not a writer. I don't consider myself a
writer. I procrastinate writing. You know, it's like a grown when I have to write a book. And my
editor really gives me a very short timeline to actually get the book done. And this is a positive
thing because without that deadline, I'd procrastinate to the last minute anyways. So every
week I'm producing a chapter to send off. And, you know, a chapter is anywhere from three to six
thousand words. And that seems overwhelming. When you look at the whole book has to be 60,000 words,
but now stepping back, I'm already on to the fifth chapter.
and it's only been a really short amount of time, five weeks, and it's flown by. And I've been
dedicating, you know, five minutes here, five minutes there, maybe 10 minutes at night,
maybe 15 minutes in the morning. I've been picking away at this book, not giving it a lot of time
and attention and not working hard on it, but it's getting done. And that's exactly how I wrote
the first and the second. That's also exactly how I organized my home. And,
transferred from like crazy slub to having a really organized and clean and clutter-free home that
just sort of stays that way. I got there with consistency. And now that I'm sort of opening my eyes
to this, I'm realizing that that's probably the key to like every area in life. And that's the same
mentality that I need to take when it comes to fitness. My husband is working out like a crazy
person. It's driving me crazy. It's probably driving me crazy because I have a little envy going on,
honestly. He's really taking his health extremely seriously. It's a little nauseating. He also gets
obsessive, so he's a little obsessed. He's working out every night, and he's, you know,
putting every bite that he takes in his mouth. He's tracking, and he's got this watch that's
taking his blood pressure and his calories or whatever. I don't know. Some crazy health crap stuff he's
doing. And I'm just like, it's like overkill for me.
me, but he's consistent. So he's seeing really great results. And I'm not the person that's going to go
full like him. He is such a cricket. He's such a perfectionist. But I don't think you have to be
like that to get the results because I know for my own life, I haven't had to be perfect or work hard
at the things that I've had success in. The real secret when it came to growing my blog, when it came
to growing my, yeah, my online following, earning a great income doing this, writing a couple of books,
it was all coming from just consistently working a few minutes every day on it and not maybe even
putting out something great and doing the podcast. Gosh, let me tell you, sometimes I'm just like,
I don't know even know what to talk about, but I'm just going to sit down and chat with you for 10,
15 minutes about whatever it is I feel like about chatting that day. I never write this down.
And usually when I sit down, I don't even know what I'm going to talk about first,
but I'm consistently podcasting. I'm consistently sitting down and just putting out content.
And my podcast is growing huge. You guys, I have so many of you listening. And I'm so,
so appreciative of that, that you're taking the time to sit and listen. But what I really want to
share with you is that you, you can achieve whatever crazy, amazing dream that you have for your life
in exactly the same way. We get so caught up in the idea of having to have the perfect plan or
scared to even try because we're afraid to fail or whatever it is holding us back. But every day
if we take one tiny little step towards something, whatever that goal,
is we're going to get there through consistency. So that's what I wanted to share with you today.
I really want to encourage you for whatever it is that you want out of life to start today.
Today, you're going to thank yourself, you know, a year from now when you've achieved that
crazy, huge, monumental goal that you never thought you could achieve. It starts with doing it
today. A little tiny bit every day is how you achieve those goals. So when people say to me,
how do you find the time to, you know, run a blog and a YouTube channel and a podcast and answer
all the thousands of emails that you get every day and, you know, take care of your three kids
as a stay-at-home mom and do the housework and write books on top of that? Let me tell you,
I spend a ton of time wasting surfing the web or watching house.
I'm not some crazy hardworking person that gets up at six in the morning and works till bedtime.
I'm probably putting in maybe 20 hours a week with actual work, with actual work stuff that I'm doing.
But I'm still achieving so much and it's through consistency.
It's the fact that every week I'm just doing it.
I'm throwing something out into the world.
I'm stepping up to the plate and doing the best I can.
And I see these other YouTubers.
Oh my gosh.
I'm like, Catherine from Do It on a Dime, how are you putting out such amazing content so many times a week?
And Meg from Love Meg, oh my gosh, she's just rocking YouTube.
And sometimes I really do feel envious, but I know that they are also doing the same thing.
They're being consistent.
And the truth is, they're probably putting in, well, they're definitely putting in more time and effort than I am.
That's the secret.
for me, I'm not putting in a lot of time and effort, but you can still achieve a level of success
through consistency. So I wanted to share that with you guys today because I know there's so many
of you out there that can feel really discouraged. And I remember feeling like a complete failure
about my home, about my business prospects, you know, my just life in general. I was like,
why can't I get my crap together? I still feel like that now a lot. But when I take a step back and
look what I have achieved and I've been, you know, doing that grateful journaling that we talked
about in a couple of podcasts ago, I realized that I really have come a long way.
Even though it's been a little bit here, a little bit there, a little bit here, and a little bit
in a couple days from now, consistency can move mountains. So anyways, it's a short podcast today.
I want to talk to you and I wanted to challenge you. I wanted to challenge you to pick a small
goal this week and to dedicate just 10 minutes every day to work towards that goal.
Maybe your goal is to lose, I don't know, 50 pounds.
This week I want you to spend just 10 minutes going for a walk or 10 minutes preparing a healthy
meal.
If your goal is, I don't know, to start your own business.
Every day I want you to spend 10 minutes writing down some different business ideas or
reaching out to people who are also doing that same kind of business and introducing yourself,
sending one email a day, perhaps, just reaching out and networking with someone.
Maybe you want to be an influencer, maybe you want to start a professional organizing company.
I want you to spend 10 minutes a day just calling friends and family and say,
hey, can I practice on your house and take some before and after pictures?
Or doing a podcast.
You guys can download this app.
that I'm actually using. I use this, this app, this free app called Podbean. I'm just sitting
on my desk chatting with you. There's no fancy equipment. There's nothing, which you probably tell
by the quality of this podcast, but there's nothing fancy going on. It's completely free to do a
podcast and let me tell you it's the easiest thing that I do when it comes to my business.
This is the one thing that doesn't take any real time or effort. It's just sitting and sharing about
things that I'm passionate about with you. And you can do that with the world. You can do a podcast.
It doesn't matter if you have no technical ability. It doesn't even matter if you have equipment.
You can do it from your phone. So just be consistent. Try something. Dip your toe in the waters
of whatever it is you want to accomplish in life and keep it up every day for just 10 minutes for this
week. I want you to take a seven-day consistency challenge and you're going to be amazed at the end
of the week what you've accomplished. I promise you, for real. You're going to be super amazed. So thank you
guys so much. And let me know in comments. Maybe at the end of the week, send me an email or you can
message me on Facebook and let me know what you have accomplished in your seven-day consistency challenge.
So thank you guys so much for listening. I really appreciate it. And I'm going to see you next time.
