Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Jessica Edinger CNBC. Wall Street opens Thursday morning after a mixed Wednesday for the markets. The Dow in the red down 89 points, a quarter percent led lower by shares of Merck, which were down 4%. The S&P 500 index was in the green up six points. It's in the green for the year. The NASDAQ up 136 points three quarters of a percent. Both the Dow and the NASDAQ are still lower year to date. Nvidia shares turned positive for the year. The third company in the Magnificent Seven to do so. Facebook, Parent Meta, and Microsoft are also trading above breakeven now for the year. Boeing shares ticked higher on what President Trump is calling the biggest 787 Dreamliner jet order ever for that company. This is a huge one that's coming out of Qatar announced by the president today and essentially it's 210 wide-body jets up to 210. I think the official firm order is 160. The remaining 50 are options that could be exercised by Qatar Air. And for GE Aerospace,
Starting point is 00:01:07 this is also a big deal because A, it's the primary engine provider when it comes to the 787 Dreamliner. CNBC's Phil LeBeau. Netflix says its ad tier now has 94 million monthly active users. It's the cheapest option for a subscription at $8 a month in the U.S. Warner Brothers Discovery bringing back HBO Max. CNBC's Carl Quintanilla and David Faber explain. The company says its Max streaming service will be rebranded as HBO Max this summer. CEO David Zaslav says, quote, today we're bringing back HBO, the brand that represents the highest quality in media, to further accelerate that growth in the years ahead.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Reversion to the HBO brand, David, which was seen as so powerful for so many years. Yeah, well, of course, when they went with Max, that raised a lot of questions. There were no shortage of people saying, why wouldn't you have stuck with HBO to begin with given how much that brand resonates, particularly in terms of high-end production? Look what's picking up. The spring home buying market, which has been rotten for the most part, are would-be home buyers back out there?
Starting point is 00:02:12 I will say they're back there, not flooding the market. Remember, we're coming off of what was kind of the worst march in over 20 years for home sales. Mortgage demand from home buyers is taking a turn higher. Two weeks of gains in May after demand fell for most of April. An agent in Cleveland said, I have seen three times more buyers in the past two weeks than in the past few months. Now maybe buyers are feeling better about the tariff talks and the stock market rebound. Maybe they're seeing they have more negotiating
Starting point is 00:02:42 power. We do know that inventory at the end of April was up 18% year over year nationally, according to Redfin. So there's a lot more out there and buyers are clearly responding. CNBC's Diana Olic. Egg prices lower, but still near record highs. The average price of a dozen eggs in the US, $5.12, according to the new CPI report, the Consumer Price Index. But
Starting point is 00:03:07 that 512 a dozen is down more than 12% from the month before. It was the first price drop for eggs since October. On Thursday's watch list we get the latest on inflation at the wholesale level. That's the PPI, the Producer Price Index. We get earnings from a big one, Walmart and tractor maker Deer Take Two Interactive, Applied Materials and Cava. And the second golf major of the year begins with the PGA Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jessica Edinger, CNBC.
