I'm Jessica Edinger CNBC. Wall Street opens Tuesday morning after a mixed day for the
markets to start the week. The S&P 500 index and the NASDAQ each hitting new all-time highs.
The Dow was in the red. It fell 19 points, led lower by shares of American Express, which
were down about one and a half percent. But the S&P 500 index posted its first close
above 6300 at 6305.
It was up eight points.
And the NASDAQ was up 78 points.
That was 3 tenths of 1% a fresh all-time high.
Companies who shares hit fresh all-time highs
include Southern Company, Fasten All, Broadcom,
and Coach Parent Tapestry.
Pretty quite weak from a data perspective. There aren't a lot of policy headlines time highs include Southern company Fastenal, Broadcom, and Coach Parent Tapestry.
Pretty quite weak from a data perspective.
There aren't a lot of policy headlines hitting us, at least not expected to this week.
All markets can really focus in on is this earnings season, and the earnings season's
been pretty darn good.
I think analysts really lowballed it coming in here.
They thought that the macro economy would be in worse shape than we are right now, or
at least they thought that some of those implications would hit us a little bit
a little bit quicker than they than they have. I think they also really underestimated just how good corporate America is at protecting margins.
JP Morgan's Jack Manley on CNBC. Gold, copper and silver rallied on Monday. Silver was up 2%. Southwest Airlines says tickets with seat assignments will go on sale Tuesday, July
29th with its hallmark open seating policy ending next year on January 27th.
That's when the airline will start boarding passengers by groups.
There will be eight boarding groups at Southwest.
McDonald's made a move that's really helping the chain.
Clearly, the snack wrap is a big help for the whole story.
It's driving something like half of that lift,
7% plus lift.
At 299 price point helps, these guys got away from value.
They were one of the big pricers during COVID.
The brand needs to stand for value.
So I think they're gonna have to get organized
as a system, to franchise these,
the company around some national value
like we've seen from Taco Bell.
The odds of that happening are growing,
partly because they saw that this national price point
worked on the snack wrap.
Evercore's David Palmer on CNBC.
Mickey D's snack wraps have turned out to be so popular.
There was a brief lettuce shortage at some restaurants.
Domino's Mean Time reported mixed quarterly results.
They do now have stuffed crust pizza and the CEO is telling investors they're giving customers the best deal out there. Here's CNBC's Kate Rogers.
US same store sales came in much better than expected up 3.4% thanks in part to the introduction of its Parmesan stuffed crust pizza. I did have a chance to speak to Domino's CEO Russell Wiener. He reiterated that the Domino's is doing well with value competition because they're discounting the main thing which of course is the pizza. I did have a chance to speak to Domino's CEO Russell Wiener. He reiterated that the Domino's is doing well with value competition because they're discounting the main thing,
which of course is the pizza. It's the thing that their customer actually wants. Everybody
else right now is giving you a deal on something you don't want, something that may be your
second choice. We're telling you, you can have a large pizza with any toppings up till
seven. We're not hol Starbucks pumpkin spice l
