I'm Jessica Eddinger. CNBC stocks are rallying to start this first full week of 2026 trading.
The Dow is soaring, hitting a record high today, up 739 points, 1.5%.
It's being led higher by shares of Chevron, which are up more than 5%.
The S&P 500 Index now up 58 points. The NASDAQ up 211 points, while some investment.
see a higher S&P 500 index by the end of this new year.
Some also believe there could be some big pullbacks for stocks along the way.
Well, you have, you have the midterm elections, you have a new Fed chair, right?
There's a lot of moving parts this year.
Now you have what's going on with this resource nationalism.
That's Stratigis researches, Jason Tenert, on CNBC.
Investors monitoring what's happening after the U.S. attacked Venezuela and captured its
President Nicholas Maduro, who's facing charges now in the U.S.
Everyone's trying to figure out how to make money.
As America takes over Venezuela's oil industry, here's CNBC's David Faber with mad money host, Jim Kramer.

And the report is that the reserves are massive.
We all know that.
Right.
Largest potential reserves in the world.
But in the near term, they can only increase production a little bit.
Everything would need to be replaced, I'm told.
Every single pipeline on down.
They cannibalize the pumps.
They cannibalize the pipelines.
There are no spare parts.
Everything's full of rust.
Checking the oil giants, we mentioned Chevron up more than 4%.
Exxon's up 3%.
Conoco Phillips up 5%.
The starter dose of the daily,
Wagovi pill GLP 1 weight loss drug, officially on the market in the U.S. today at pharmacies like
Costco and CVS and more. But this oral GOP, I mean, the data here is pretty extraordinary at a lower
cost here. You also have an effective therapy. Lily is expected to release her oral GOP sometime in
2026, so the two will be battling it out. It looks like the data on NOVA and Lilly is pretty
comparable here. So the two will have to be duking it out when it comes to price point, more so
than efficacy. That's Dr. Vin Gupta on CNBC. Now, the Novo Nordisk semaglutide pill that's out today
starts at $150 a month. A pill version of Eli Lilly's Treseppatide form of Zep bound will be
decided on by the FDA this year. Many investors on hold today for a big report coming this
Friday. It's a jobs Friday at the end of the week when the Labor Department releases the
December jobs report and investors will see whether the job market continues to weaken.
