I'm Jill Schneider, CNBC.
Stocks lower across the board at midday, the Dow down 118 points, about a quarter of a percent,
the S&P 500 basically flat, the NASDAQ down 11 points.
Where is the AI trade headed in 2026?
Here's Bernstein Research Senior Analyst, Stacey Razgan.
I actually don't think it stops in 2026.
You know, you can look at the forecast that companies like Invidio,
or broad come have put out. You can look at where the sort of the current estimates are and they're
still way below that. I think there's still plenty of room for numbers to move higher. Some of the
names making the biggest moves in early trading apply digital. Shares rose more than a percent
in the pre-market after the company announced it would spin off its cloud business and combine
it with exobionics. Shares of that company, which has a market cap of just 18 and a half million
dollar rallied more than 50%. Tech giant meta acquired Singapore-based startup Manis, which specializes
in developing general purpose AI agents. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boeing stock up
slightly after the U.S. Air Force awarded the aerospace giant an $8.5 billion contract to build
fighter jets for Israel's military. Doug Holtz-Eacon, American Action Forum president, says he expects
this disconnect between GDP and job growth to ease next year.
Earlier the next year, we'll start to see the refund season, a lot of cash into the household
sector, cash into the small business sector, which is really struggling as well.
And I see, you know, the second half of 2026 going to be pretty strong.
But between now and then, it's going to slow down a bit.
Silver futures jumped 7% early today, continuing 2025's roller coaster ride for precious
metals.
Eurostar is urging passengers to change their travel plans today as a problem with the
overhead power supply forced the channel tunnel to close. The disruption brings one of Europe's
busiest international rail corridors to a near standstill during the New Year travel season.
We'll get the minutes from the Federal Reserve's December meeting at 2 p.m. Eastern today.
