I'm Jill Schneider, CNBC. The Dow will look to extend its record run as investors continue to exit technology stocks and move into value areas of the market.
The Dow is up 127 points. The S&P 500 down 9. The NASDAQ is down 91.
Shares of Chipmaker Broadcom falling in early trading despite the company beating expectations yesterday.
Lulu Lemon was up 10% after the athletic apparel retailer,
announced its CEO will step down at the end of January. The company also beat Wall Street estimates.
Cannabis stocks are higher following reports that President Trump may ease federal restrictions on
marijuana. weed producer Tilray brands surged more than 28% in pre-market trading, while canopy
growth jumped 23%. Chicago Federal Reserve President Austin Gouldsby is explaining why he voted
against this week's interest rate cut, saying policymakers should have waited until they
had more information before easing further. I'm pretty optimistic that for 2026, rates will be
able to be a fair bit lower than they are today, but I've just been uncomfortable front-loading
too many rate cuts and assuming that what we've seen in inflation be transitory.
Goolsby was one of three FOMC members to vote against the quarter percentage point reduction,
the third consecutive easing measure. Jill Schneider, CNBC.
