Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Jessica Edinger CNBC. The S and P 500 index opened this morning at a fresh record high. It's the final day of June trading, the final day of the second quarter and the final day of the first half of 2025. The Dow up 174 points, four tenths of a percent being led higher by shares of Goldman Sachs this morning up more than 2%. The S&P 500 index up 15 points, the Nasdaq up 52 points, and video shares dipping into the red, they're down 8 tenths of 1%. Friday we closed the S&P 500 at a new high, marginally so, about less than half a percent above the previous peak, which was February 19th of this year. As a general matter, markets reaching a new record high is more of a positive forward signal for returns that it is something to worry too much about. That's CNBC's Mike Santoli.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Canada says it will rescind the digital services tax after President Trump cut off U.S. trade talks. Presumably, those talks could back on. The White House working on temporary passes for immigrants who work in certain industries as the administration shifts immigration enforcement. President Trump appearing on Fox, he referenced ICE going to American farms and taking away people that have been working there for 15 and 20 years. Moderna's flu vaccine shows positive late stage trial results paving the way for a combination COVID and flu shot.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Chrysler recalling about a quarter million Pacifica and Voyager vehicles to fix a potential airbag issue. Ford recalling more than 100,000 Lincoln aviators that may have trim that can detach while the car is moving. USA Today says GM is recalling about 60,000 Chevy Silverado trucks because a brake fluid leak can cause an electrical short. Costco executive members have new shopping hours starting today. Locations are opening an hour early for these members at 9 a.m. All Costco members will have an extra hour to shop on Saturdays starting July 5th. Warehouses will be open till 7. Raising Canes has overtaken KFC.
Starting point is 00:02:14 It is now the third biggest chicken chain in the U.S. after Chick-fil-A and Popeyes. Raising Canes now has 900 restaurants and $5 billion in sales. Apple's Formula One racing movie F1 with Brad Pitt won the weekend box office giving Apple Original Films its first summer blockbuster hit in theaters. It's an amazing weekend for us to have this kind of success on a movie that is not a sequel. And it's a tough business. And the this one open in a big wa biggest opening ever. Mer
